The Catcher In The Rye Essay
Crafting an essay on "The Catcher in the Rye" can pose a formidable challenge for several
reasons. First and foremost, J.D. Salinger's novel is a complex work that delves into the
intricacies of adolescence, alienation, and societal expectations. Navigating through the layers of
Holden Caulfield's character and the symbolism embedded in the narrative requires a keen
understanding of the author's intentions and the thematic nuances.
Moreover, the novel's ambiguous ending and the open-ended nature of Holden's future leave
room for diverse interpretations, making it challenging to formulate a conclusive thesis. The task
is further complicated by the need to engage critically with the novel's cultural and historical
context, as well as its literary influences, to provide a comprehensive analysis.
Another obstacle is the multitude of existing interpretations and critical perspectives surrounding
"The Catcher in the Rye." Striking a balance between original insights and acknowledging the
existing body of scholarship is crucial for an essay that stands out. It requires a deep dive into
literary criticism and scholarly articles to grasp the various viewpoints and synthesize them into a
coherent argument.
Furthermore, capturing the essence of Holden's voice and Salinger's writing style poses a unique
challenge. The informal and colloquial language used by the protagonist requires a careful
balancing act between maintaining academic rigor and preserving the novel's authenticity.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "The Catcher in the Rye" demands a thorough understanding
of the novel's themes, characters, and literary techniques, as well as an ability to navigate
through the complexities of critical discourse. It is a task that requires dedication, analytical
acumen, and a nuanced approach to literature. For those seeking assistance with such essays or
similar academic endeavors, professional services likeHelpWriting.net can provide valuable

Voluntourism In America
Voluntourism is a form of tourism, which travelers do voluntary work for a charity.
Voluntourism, which has become more popular in the recent past, started with good
intentions of white westerners spreading their knowledge and resources. Some forms
of voluntourism have helped communities, but not in orphanages. The good idea has
transformed into a conscious clearing photo op that s permanently affecting orphans
and people in the international orphanagecommunity. Voluntourism is glamorizing
orphanages making them appear better than lives at home, causing parents to
surrender their parental rights in order to give them a better life. The unthought of
repercussions of orphanage voluntourism is affecting orphans and orphanage culture
permanently.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To solve this issue, we need to protect the orphans. We need to stop letting orphanages
be treated like daycare, need better background checks and training for volunteers,
and stop letting inhumane behaviors happen in our orphanages. Orphanages need
more funding, better trained volunteers and better resources. Orphans have been
through alot and are resilient, but we need to protect orphans around the world,
giving them the closest thing we can to their families. With good volunteers, we can
change these kids lives and get them into the lives they deserve. Children are
amazingly resilient... we find that if we get them out of institutions and into loving
families early on, they recover their developmental delays and go on to lead normal
happy lives.
Communicate A Universal Truth Analysis
Don t we all have something in common? Well that s just how comedians have an
effect to communicate a universal truth with their audience. Whether if its
confusion, sickness, frustration we all have something that we can relate to and
that is how comedians use this effect because we can relate to that feeling or
subject. That s how a comedian can communicate a universal truth to us by using
humor. Who s on First? No Who is on first!!!!! In that essay the universal truth was
th at how confused and frustrated Costello was. We all can relate to that because
more than likely all of us has been frustrated or confused before. That s part of the
main reason we laugh because we can relate to it. The confusion and frustration is
happening because
The Body Framework Is The Cardiovascular System
The second body framework is the cardiovascular system which contains the blood,
heart, and vessels. The cardiovascular system heart pumps blood through veins,
blood conveys oxygen and supplements to cells and carbon dioxide and waste far
from cells. It manages body temperatures and water substance of body fluids and
blood. This system contains of the heart, veins, and arteries. The heart is somewhat
little and lays on the diaphragm which rests on the mediastinum and is located in the
thoracic cavity. The mediastinum reaches out from the sternum to the vertebral
column. From the first rib to the diaphragm and sits between the lungs. The heart has

Located between the parietal and visceral layer is the pericardial fluid, this is
emissions of pericardial cells that helps reduce friction between layers as the heart
moves and thumps. The heart has three layers; the epicardium (made up of two
tissue layers the visceral layer and serous pericardium layer). This layer of the
heart is made out of mesothelium which is a thin transparent layer that is a delicate
fibroblastic tissue and adipose tissue. This adipose tissue starts to get thickest over
ventricular surfaces where the hearts coronary and cardiac vessels are found. The
center layer of the heart is the myocardium (this layer is in charge of the pumping
activity of the heart and is made out of cardiovascular muscle). The myocardium
consists of ninety five percent of the hearts wall, which consists of muscle fibers.
The cells in the myocardium layer are muscle strands. The cardiovascular muscle
fibers structure bundles and whirl slantingly around the heart which is in charge of
the heart s pumping activity. The internal layer of the heart is the endocardium (this
is a flimsy layer of endothelium tissue overlying a thin layer of connective tissue).
This layer gives a smooth coating layer to the chamber of the heart and spreads the
valves of the heart. This smooth layer lessens friction as blood moves all through the
heart. The endothelium and endocardium have large veins that connect to the heart.
The heart is four chambers; two
Hockey Essay
Hockey is a fast, exciting sport played by two teams on a sheet of ice called a rink.
Each team has six players on the ice, one goalie, two defensemen, two wingers, and
one center man. The players skate up and down the ice shooting or passing a hard
rubber disk called a puck with sticks. They score points by hitting the puck into the
net. Hockey is much faster and swifter than any other sport. As the players streak
across the ice, their powerful shots and passes can send the puck faster than 100
miles [160 kilometers] per hour. A goalkeeper on each team defends his net from the
puck going in. They must often make quick slides across the on their skates,
stomachs, knees or backs to stop the puck from going into the net. A puck that... Show

Skating is the most important hockey skill. Players must be able to turn sharply,
skate backwards and perform many other maneuvers while skating at top speed.
They must be able to do this with their head up and while stick handling the puck.
Passing occurs when a player who has the puck passes it to another player. In most
cases the players use their sticks to propel the puck toward the receiver. These
passes are either flat passes or flip passes. To make a flat pass the player sends the
puck traveling along the surface of the ice. To make a flip pass the player causes it
to rise off the ice to avoid interception by an opponent. Sometimes the passer simply
leaves the puck behind, so that a teammate can get it, this is called a drop pass.
Stick handling is the use of the stick to control the puck. The player first moves the
puck with one side of the blade and then with the other side while skating. The
player makes some sweeps of the stick some wide and some narrow. In this way the
player keeps the opponent guessing as to the next move and also makes it difficult
to steal the puck. Shooting is the skill needed to drive the puck into the net and
score goals. Most shots are either wrist shots or slap shots. In a wrist shot the blade
does not leave the ice. The player uses strong wrist action to propel the puck. For a
slap shot the player raises the stick for a back swing and
Barefoot Vs Running Shoes Research Paper
A study by the University of Colorado Boulder conducted in 2012 found that
running with running shoes, as opposed to running barefoot uses less energy and
effort. One reason that running shoes is better for your feet is that it provides
protection to your feet. It also helps prevent feet medical conditions and gives your
feet cushioning. Running with running shoes protect your feet. Running shoes are
made to provide protection for your feet rather than running barefoot. A midsole is

It also has a cool feature were it absorbs more of the impact through every step you

Marshall presented to the Joint Chiefs of Staff his concept of a reorganization
proposal which became the foundation for several War Department generated

struggle for the right to belong resulted in
General Order No. 5 of 20 November 1954 which stated:
The Commandant of the Marine Corps is the senior officer of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He commands the Marine Corps and is directly responsible to the Secretary of the
Navy for its administration, discipline, internal organization, unit training,
requirements, efficiency, and readiness, and for the total performance of the Marine
Corps.
A huge victory for the Corps. The final step was taken in late 1978 when the
commandant was accorded full membership in the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Throughout
the two hundred years of our country s history, Congress has acted repeatedly to
preserve and strengthen the Marines fighting effectiveness. Without steady, reliable
performance, year in and year out, Congress would never have so consistently stood

Explain Why I Want To Go To Mitty
I want to go to Mitty for many reason. Some reasons include the energetic and
inclusive community, amazing sports, and education programs. When I shadowed
ar Mitty the community felt so inclusive and alive. Everyone made me feel like I
was one of the student too. I was able to shadow Mitty on the spirit rally day, and it
was amazing. I could see all of the enthusiasm and energy the student had and I
could see how much they loved Mitty. My shadow host really tried to include me
in everything going on. She and some of the students even taught me the
sophomore cheer so that I could participate too. Another thing I love about Mitty is
the incredible sports program. While I was shadow I was able to see all of the gyms

Transportation Security Advertisement Analysis
A FEW years ago, in a supermarket, I swiped my bank card to pay for groceries. I
watched the little screen, waiting for its prompts. During the intervals between
swiping my card, confirming the amount and entering my PIN, I was shown
advertisements. Clearly some genius had realized that a person in this situation is a
captive audience.
Attention is a resource; a person has only so much of it. And yet we ve auctioned
off more and more of our public space to private commercial interests, with their
constant demands on us to look at the products on display or simply absorb some bit
of corporate messaging. Lately, our self appointed disrupters have opened up a new
frontier of capitalism, complete with its own frontier ethic: to boldly dig up and ...

Of course, you can seal yourself off by putting on noise canceling headphones,
staring at a smartphone or opening a novel. But what is lost is the public space that
is required for sociability, the kind that depends on people not being self enclosed.
An airport lounge once felt rich with possibilities for spontaneous encounters. Even if
we did not converse, our attention was free to alight upon one another and linger, or
not. We encountered another person, even if in silence. Such encounters are always
ambiguous, and their need for interpretation gives rise to a train of imaginings, often
erotic. This is what makes cities exciting.
The benefits of silence are off the books. They are not measured in the gross
domestic product, yet the availability of silence surely contributes to creativity and
innovation. They do not show up explicitly in social statistics such as level of
educational achievement, yet one consumes a great deal of silence in the course of

The Purpose Of The Paris Peace Conference
One of the bloodiest and most devastating wars in history; World War I, was
supposed to be the war to end all wars. Its conclusion was supposed to usher in the
new world order, a time of peace and international prosperity and was hoped to be
the last war mankind was to rage. In order to accomplish this and to determine the
design and function of this new world the allies claiming to be victorious met in
Paris in January of 1919, two months after the signing of an armistice by Germany.
The main composites of the conference were hashed out in only six months, marked
by the signing of the Treaty of Versailleson June 28th, after which many important
members, including most of the Counsel of Four, left Paris. The Peace Conference
continued on for another six months, hashing out minor details,... Show more content

One major thing for me is external factors, the leaders here were responsive to
governments and peoples back whom who were pushing for various things. The
heavy propaganda used to demonize the enemy came back to haunt especially in
France where citizens cried for a harsh punishment. Elections changed the
governments of Britain and America mid conference increased opposition Wilson
and Lloyd George had to face, especially in Wilson s case with Republicans taking
control of Congress. In addition reporters and journalist made life harder by
publishing sometimes wrong but always controversial articles about what was
happening. In my opinion the biggest mistake of the conference was how important
Wilson was. Wilson, more importantly the America he spoke for, was the main
equalizer of the many disagreements that came up, no country wanted to actually
offend America and many made concessions to that point, such as the creation of a
league of Nations which neither Lloyd George or Clemenceau particular wanted but
both wanted to maintain good relations with
The Mountains Of The Rocky Mountains
The Rocky Mountains, also known as the Rockies, extends for some 3,000 miles
(4,800 km), that covers land in two North American countries! With a distance of
3,000 miles, the Rockies must have a variety of physical features and landscapes that
makes it an attractive area to tour and explore. However, all of the human interest in
this mountain range could come at a devastating cost. Disturbances such as resource
extraction, tourism/settlement, and farming in the Rocky Mountain region must
cease because they are causing major, irreversible environmental degradation.
The Rocky Mountains contain many resources, like oil, logs, and coal, that people
utilize in their daily lives. With such a high demand for these resources, people are
going to the Rocky Mountains to extract these valuable goods. Resource
extraction, such as logging, oil exploration, and mining, however, is extremely
harmful to the Rockies ecosystem. The Rocky Mountains are experiencing slope
erosion where the top layer of soil falls off usually into areas of water and
according to Armand Eardley, from Encyclopedia Britannica, Logging and oil
exploration have been responsible for accelerated slope erosion, both from
operations themselves and from the access roads built to reach them. Erosion has
stripped away the often thin soil cover and caused serious silting of streams. Erosion
is harmful because it leads to this serious silting of streams. According to the
National Geographic, Silt is a solid, dust like

Java Man Gladwell Summary
Does the way we consume caffeine determine our social standing? Java Man by
Malcolm Gladwell is an essay describing caffeine s effects, social standing, and
acceptance by society throughout time. Malcolm Gladwell recounts how caffeine
appeals to different classes when used in different beverages and gives examples of
how this legal stimulant affects the body. Caffeine is the stimulant of choice for
many to get them going in the morning and socialization with others. Malcolm
Gladwell gives examples of a very short and unconventional study, which showed
the harmless impacts of caffeine and how caffeine is consumed by a variety of age
groups in many ways. In Java Man , Malcolm Gladwell says it best, At one moment,

Mental Health Issues For Asylum Seekers
The issue of asylum seekers recently was reignited, with the dramatic increase in the
number of illegal boats arriving in Australia. From the 30th of September 2013,
there were a reported 6,403 people in closed detention, this number including 1,078
children. It is not surprising from these high detention rates and poor living
standards that between January 2011 and February 2013 that there were 4,313
reported incidents of actual, threatened or attempted serious self harm in these
immigration detention facilities. From 12 deaths that occurred between the 1st of
July 2010 and the 20th of June 2013 6 of these have been found by coroners to be
suicides (Triggs, 2013). These statistics are incredibly alarming, especially when not
much action is being taken to prevent not only mental illness but also the
consequences of prolonged mental illness suicide. The purpose of this report is to

this ever growing issue in Australia.
An asylum seeker is a person who has fled their own country and applied for
protection as a refugee. As an asylum seeker their experience is extremely different
to that of a Migrant. A Migrant chooses to leave their home country, and can choose
where to go and when they might return to their home country, whereas, an asylum

Digital Screen Advantages And Disadvantages
Paper or plastic? was the often heard question from the bagger at the grocery store
for many years, but these days the bigger decision is whether to read words on
paper or a digital screen. Paper has a long and documented history, having been in
use for over 2000 years, while the availability of the digital screen has only come
about in the past 50 years. Both paper and digital screens provide the same
fundamental function, an avenue for the written word to be conveyed and
understood by a person. While the ability to look at print on paper or on a screen
are fundamentally the same, using paper still has a unique set of advantages such as
the smaller chance of being sidetracked, the accuracy of proofreading, and the
increased comprehension that the digital screen has not caught up to yet. The ability
to get easily distracted while using a digital screen provides a driving reason to
consider hardcopy to accomplish tasks. Tasks often have deadlines, and this doesn t
change when having to accomplish readingfor a project or a research paper. The
longer it takes the user to finish the reading, the harder it becomes to accomplish the
job in the allotted time. Using a laptop or desktop computerto perform reading can be
advantageous to the user due to the ability to have multiple documents open and be
able to do any number of other tasks at the same time. This is certainly a reason to
perform work using the digital screen, but this becomes a drawback when being used

My Experience At The Niagara Falls
We had never been out of the country before, and we couldn t wait for the first time.
The day I woke up in my dad s old room at my grandparents house, I didn t wake up
with the excitement I thought I would. Instead, I lay in the bed and stared groggily
at the ceiling. It was one of those days when getting out of bed doesn t even feel
like an option. I hadn t even remembered about where we were going. The sound of
water running in the bathroom across the hall carried into the room, and that s when I
noticed the strip of light peeking through the crack in the door, occasionally
interrupted by someone walking past. But it was too early in the morning for this
many people to be up. At that moment my mom opened the door and told me that...

stormed in. Waves of water splashed forward as they swam across the water. They
filled their trunks with water and squirted it out onto their backs. Baby elephants
even ducked their heads under water! They started to make their way towards the
crowd, and whether or not we said it out loud, we were all thinking the same thing:
were the elephants going to splash up to us? They then slowed to a stop, treading in

have been soaked by the mist of green and brown pond water squirting from the trunk

Janice Shaw Crouse Teen Suicide
The main focus of this paper is to compare hamlet to teen suicides and family
dynamics. Many acts in the play represent some things you can see in modern teens
or families. Teen suicide is a major issue in today s society. In the play many things
that could lead to or cause suicide. One thing that can cause suicideis family
dynamics. If the family is broken it can lead to a lot of stress being put on the kids.
We know today that one major cause of suicide is depression, and there is a lot of
different factors that lead to depression. Things like bullying, death, divorce, and
stress can all be things that cause depression. Janice Shaw Crouse wrote an article
talking about teen suicides and in her writing she stated ...more than 90 percent of ...

Meredith F. Small wrote ...our ideas of the perfect family are narrow and just plain
inaccurate... Most families are full of problems. Family s now a days are full of

Hamlets family is full of lies and secrets. His father is dead and his mother married
his uncle. So along with dealing with his father s death he has to try and learn how
to deal with his uncle trying to act like his father. Hamlets family is a perfect
example of a broken family, and those family issues are huge reasons for his thought

Consequently, dynamic mechanisms like finding the Global Time Master during the

The Most Important Results of the Reformation Era There are several results of the
Reformation Era that are important. The Reformation Era made a big impact in
recent studies of history. One of the most important results of the Reformation Era is
the Martin Luther 95 theses. Another really important results that impacted the
Reformation Era is religion. Religion is really significant back then because of
how powerful God or God s were. These two reasons are what made the most
significant impact in the history of the Reformation Era. Martin Luther 95 theses
was one of the most important results of the Reformation Era. Martin Luther came
up with 95 theses that secured the church door in Wittenburg. He speaks about the
Lord and Jesus word of repent where he longed his entire life to believers to be one
of the remorse. The word repent cannot be understood as mentioning to the sacrament
of self punishment which would be satisfaction and confessing as controlled by the
clergy. Inner repentance is insignificant except it produces numerous noticeable
embarrassment of the skin. The penalty of sin still remains as long as the hatred of

own power or that of the standards. According to Martin Luther God remits guilt to

As an old saying goes, bigger doesn t mean better. As a human society, we all have
idolized the biggest, strongest, and fastest among us. However, we fail to realize that
the subtle and quiet things can be just as or in some cases more impactful. I realized
that quite strongly at the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre as it showed the play
Slowgirl. Slowgirl features Sterling; a former lawyer committed to a solitary life in
a Costa Rica jungle who gets a sudden visit from his 17 year old niece, Becky

The acting was very natural. It s what drew me in the play the most. In previous
plays, I was always usually distracted with the pretty lights, attractive costumes,
and the loud catchy music in the background. If summed up into a couple of words
this play was just dialogue between two characters. It was a wonderful story. They
were able to get across the theme across in a very subtle way which I thought was
cool. It wasn t that obvious either. As the story moves along and the communication
between the uncle and niece increase, they both start realizing their fault along
with the audience. The only thing that drew me out was that I sort of felt cramped
in the theater. We were very close to the actors and it did create a connection, but it
was too close. I needed some space so I could the entire stage and what movements
the actors were doing. My favorite moment was the night scene in which the iguana
scratches on the roof and really disturbs Becky. It was hilarious and needed to light
up the mood. The atmosphere of the play started out funny and then drops to very
serious. We find out about Sterling who has a depressing life himself at the Labyrinth
scene. Becky introduces her issue which in a sense was pretty serious. Her childish
attitude surprisingly wasn t annoying at all to watch. In fact, it was adorable. The
only thing that really irked me was the random kiss. It kind of ruined my impression
on Becky who I really liked. I failed to

the purpose of this case was the sales data from our client`s lottery app. We will use
this information to calculate the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) for the first
twelve months assuming the calculation for January represents its actual sales. Two
different alphas 0.15 and 0.90 are utilized in order help determine our assessment.
In the below spread sheet the formatted data are to the left and the data are arranged

Sometimes this corrupt method works, but the problems occur when people begin
sensing the dishonesty and realize that they are being used. This creates a very bad
culture in the organization. On the contrary, the best companies have managers that
get their people to interact in creative ways. This helps prevent deconstructive
interactions and conversations among employees. A team needs guidance and
something that gives the conversation weight. All the members of a team need to feel
as if their say is important and that the conversation is interesting enough to get their
say. When these things work, companies don t have to manipulate the thoughts and
conversations of teams (referring back to organizational politics). The last approach
to viewing teams is that it is the leader who makes a team succeed. A good team
leader will create an environment in which people can practice and make mistakes
before they re pressured to produce. Furthermore, a good leader will allow the
individuals to manage their own behavior and will focus on the interactions between
people. Even though the team leader gives the team guidance, it is the team members
that own the outcome. Team leaders are there to bring intellectual, emotional, and
spiritual resources to the team. In conclusion, the environment around a team and the
culture of the company best develop it. Sometimes a team will strive without a
leader, while other times a team can squander time and

historical figures also suffer from a lot of different mental setbacks. For example,
someone might have an eating disorders, addiction, depression etc all steaming from
untreated depression. Specifically, I will analyze Abraham Lincoln s depression,
depression itself, society s perception of Abraham Lincoln s depression, and ways
society should improve to help those sufferingfrom depression. Depression is a
mental disorder affecting the brain usually caused by a chemical imbalance.
Abraham Lincoln suffered from major depression also referred to as his

class. Depression is a double edge sword creating self hatred and causes some
people to be overly self critical. On the other hand, the self hatred that it creates

With such huge demand for their talents, artists can have a lucrative summer moving

On the other hand, artists are not only finding that the festivals offer a good source of

Two Examples Of Extrinsic Motivation
Difference between intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation
Motivation is defined as the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a
particular way. Motivation can be intrinsic or extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation is driven
by an interest or enjoyment in the activities required to accomplish the goal, without
depending on external rewards or pressure. Extrinsic motivation involves actions that
are initiated from the outside either rewards like prizes or punishments like
downgrade (Amin, 2011). The primary difference between the two types of
motivation is that extrinsic motivation arises from outside of the individual while
intrinsic motivation arises from within.
An example of intrinsic motivation is that if I am playing basketball for fun, I am

Motivating individuals intrinsically is to enhance their sense of achievement,
responsibility, job satisfaction, purpose, involvement, empowerment and ownership.
The simplest way to motivate intrinsically is to recognize their accomplishments and
praise, thank them (Callcentrehelper.com, 2006). Mentoring, tracking, and posting
their key performance milestones, delegate responsibilities are ways to go about
intrinsically motivating someone.
How do I extrinsically motivate individuals?
To extrinsically motivate a person, I would set a goal and reward them either by
financial incentives or career advancements.
What are the characteristics of a performance driven team?
A performance driven team will have a deeper sense of purpose with an ambition to
achieve higher goals. They will have better work approaches to accomplish the goals
and maintain a mutual accountability so that they acknowledge their joint
accountability towards a common purpose in addition to individual obligations to
their specific roles. They will have complementary skill set, and at times
interchangeable skills (Katzenbach Smith,

Garvey created the U.N.I.A. and the Negro World newspaper, which helped to
inform the Jamaicans of what was going on in the African world. Garvey told his
followers, Look towards Africa for the crowning of a black king he shall be the
redeemer . Garvey often used many biblical terms in his teaching to free his
movement from the oppression of the White Man , whether he meant them to be
taken literally is unclear, but what is clear is that many Jamaicans took them literally.
An event that would happen in 1930 would be as important to a Rasta s as the birth
of Christ is to a Christian.
In 1930 a man named Tafari Makonne or Ras Tafari (Ras meaning king) claimed
himself Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie I as well as the traditional titles King
of Kings, Lord of Lords, and Conquering Lion of the Tribe Judah. To some
Jamaican people this meant that Garvey s prophecy had been fulfilled. These people
tuned to the Bible and through literal translation of the documents found much
correlation into what had taken place. An important correlation to the Bible is the
fact that Selassie claimed to be a direct descendent of King David. By Selassie
claming his relation to David, he had made a coalition to Revelation 5:2 5. To some
Jamaicans this meant their Messiah had arrived.
In Jamaica some people such as Leonard P. Howell, J.N. Hibert, and Archibald
Dunkle, began to spread the word of the Messiah coming to save the African people.

Absolute Teacher Stereotypes
Comedians entertain audiences by revealing the unexpected. These breathtaking
moments are caused by the creation of stereotypes. The controversial video entitled,
The Substitute Teacher, reveals Mr. Garvey s difficulty in adjusting to different
classroom settings. Within the classroom, Mr. Garvey applies an inappropriate
adaption of black culture even though the majority of his students were Caucasian.
The comedic aspect is illuminated by Mr. Garvey s stereotypical nature when
pronouncing names through roll call. The video reasons his nature through his

social injustices, while others accomplish more by teaching audiences how
stereotypes are evident in real life situations.

Lipoic Acid (ALA) (aka thioctic acid), is a naturally occurring substance found in
our diets such as vegetables (spinach, broccolis) and in meat (intestines),also,ALA is
synthesized in our body through the function of different enzymes that take part in
mitochondrial oxidative metabolism found in plants and animals. When ALA is
consumed it gets absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract and transported to other
organs in the body, for example, it can cross the blood brain barrier to enter the

of the cells increased back, ALA also inhibited ROS, ADP/ATP, and the apoptotic

there was some limitations in the experiments such as the clarification if the

another limitation is that some of the studies were observational studies. Overall, the
most important thing is that the actually mechanism in which ALA functions in order

Equality in Sports After winning the 2015 Women s World Cup, the United States
Women National team earned $2 million for winning while the Men s 2014 World

As Dave Zirin, said in the article Why I m Done Defending Women s Sports ,
Every damn Women s World Cup, every NCAA women s final, every Olympics,
women s sports again go on a media trial that would make the old judges of Salem
blush. (Zirin, 2015) This quote goes on, but the main point is that it is tiring and
embarrassing that this is still a topic female athletes have to deal with. Having to
prove that they are good enough to get more media time or equal pay. These
athletes all work hard for the same positions a man plays, even though he doesn t
have to try as hard because there are more opportunities available for him to
become a professional athlete. A male athlete can get paid millions and on top of
that get many sponsorships, unlike female athletes who may get paid $3 7 thousand

Use Of Technology For Preventing Drowsiness At The Time
Various investigation show that driver s drowsiness is one of the main cause of road
accidents. The development of technology for preventing drowsiness at the time is a
major challenge in the field of accidents avoidance. The advance in computing
technology has provided the means for building intelligent vehicle system. The
purpose of this study is to detect the drowsiness in driver to prevent accidentsand to
improve safety on the highway. The aim of this project is to design an Accident
Prevention System which helps in preventing or avoiding accidents.
A real time face detection is implemented to locate driver s face region. A method
of detecting drowsiness in drivers developed by using a camera that points directly
towards the driver face and capture for the video. As a detection method, the system
uses image processing technology using MATLAB to analysis images of the
driver face taken with the help of video camera. The captured video is done, it is
converted into numbers of frame of face and monitoring of the face region and eyes
in order to detect drowsiness. The system is able to monitoring eyes and determine
whether the eyes are in an open or closed. This detection system provides a non
contact technique for judging various level of alertness and facilitates early detection
of a decline in alertness during driving.

Genetically Modified Organisms In Frankenstein
In his article, GMO Foods and Crops: Africa s choice , Robert Paarlberg suggests,
...there has not been any documented evidence that approved GMOs have posed new
risks either to human health or the environment. With that being said, genetically
modified organisms are not at risk to anyone or anything. There are countless studies
that prove GMOs are in fact beneficial to the environment and human health. GMOs
can be directly correlated to Frankenstein; a Gothic Fiction novel, written by Mary
Shelley, by resulting that the monster was an organism that was created. There could
have been possible breakthroughs in science, if the monster stayed alive longer, or
used responsibly. Furthermore, the creature in Frankenstein is genetically modified...

Robert Paarlberg once stated, There is a scientific consensus, even in Europe, that the
GMO foods and crops currently on the market have brought no documented new risks
either to human health or the environment. A widely known debate about GM crops
is the risks the organisms have to human health and the environment. Chen Zhang
discusses the benefits throughout his article, Genetically modified foods: A critical
review of their promise and problems, and not only the benefits to human health, but
also the benefits to the environment. For instance, Some genetic modification is
specifically targeted to enrich certain nutrients or substances having high therapeutic
and pro health value, including vitamins A, C, E, unsaturated fatty acids, alimentary
cellulose and probiotics (Zhang). Chen Zhang is portraying there are modifications in
genetic material, which benefit health by the targeted nutrients and vitamins when
modified. Scientists are able to modify the chemical composition in food, which
means there will be less of harmful chemicals and more of the beneficial makeup of
foods. Later on in the same article it states, Similarly, using this biotechnology,
researchers can also alter the amino acid composition of proteins as well as the
content of carbohydrates (Zhang). In other words, Chen Zhang asserts that scientists
and researchers have the capability to change the
Compare And Contrast Nevada Constitution And Us
Constitution
Constitutions are ordinances set forth by a legislative body to establish the
foundations of a government. The United States of America wrote their constitution
to set the rules in place for the branches of government, their separate powers, and the
limitations of the federal government. Since the United States operates under a
federalist government, each state is responsible for establishing their own
governments. There arise the states constitutions. There are inevitable differences
between the content of a constitutionof a state versus that of the federal government.
In this essay, we will be comparing the constitution of the state of Nevada and that of
the United Statesof America. There are differences in the branches of government,...

Constitution are called the Bill of Rights, they outlined the civil liberties as a
citizen of the United States. Civil liberties are the restrictions of powers the
government has on the citizens. For example, freedom of speech, freedom of the
press, no government established religion, and the right to a jury trial are all
examples of liberties the government cannot deny its citizens. According to the
Supreme Court case Barron v. Baltimore in 1833, none of the provisions in the Bill
of Rights applied to the states, they only applied to the federal government and their
restrictions (Bowers 43). However, the authors of Nevada s 1864 constitution
included their own Bill of Rights named the Declaration of Rights. The Declaration
of Rights included all of the same principles that the Bill of Rights did such as the
ones listed above. There are two significant differences between the two sets of
amendments. For one, the Nevada constitution requires compensation before the
government can seize private property, the U.S. constitution does not have the same
requirement. Second, civil cases in Nevada only require a three fourths vote to make
a decision, federal civil cases require a unanimous decision. However, in criminal
cases, both Nevada and the federal government require a unanimous
Married To Black Women Essay
As an African American woman, not only is it hard to be educated and taking
serious in the workforce but also it s a struggle just to be educated and finding a
mate. So why do we have to feel like we are degraded just for wanting more in life?
I believe as black women we do feel the need to have to prove our self worth more
because we re always being stereotyped. Some women found it hard to have that
dream lifestyle of being married and with children just because of education levels.
There are many other reasons as to why black women aren t married to black men
which leaves a lot of single women. It s very understandable that with any marriage
there s going be be benefits and there s going to be costs. In my opinion, I think man
should value a women whose smart and head strong, but not only that also not take it
as a fear of losing power or masculinity.
In Brian Alexander Marriage Eludes High Achieving Black Women , he speaks on
how not to many higher educated white and black women, more so black, get
married or have children. The ratio of black women to black men is very high, also
known as marriage squeeze, meaning even if every black female choose a black male
mate some women would still be single. As a educated women, you tend to want to
have an educated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, some women might choose a spouse with lower educational levels then
themselves. Because of those reasons, it really narrows down the number of men
that black women are left to marry, which adds to there already being more black
women then black women. This also leads to low marriage rates, and high rates of
childbirth outside of marriage. I think that some black women could possible try to
date outside our race more, and maybe it would lead to less single black
Information Safety and the National Security Agency
Security information In the last 20 years, we had a boom in communication. The
industry of telecommunication and the velocity of internet has increased, in a way
that never happened. In the past the evolution of communication increased each
decade, today increase each second. In the past the only way for communication was
the voice, and sometimes, for example, they used animals to send a message, like a
bird, but it still take a long time to send a message. However each century brings
another ways to made a communication. The interception of message, is not a new, in
the past the people intercepted the messenger from another country to get
information. The communications increased so much, on the other hand, the ways to
intercept the message increased to. Nowadays, we living a age of information,
everything happens faster than other times. Consequently the interception of
information, in other words, the cases of espionage, become one of the biggest
worries for the nations around the world. Recently, Edward Snowden, an ex agent of

Tiger Woods And Its Effect On Golf
Golf. A sport that was dull and mundane twenty years ago, evolved when Tiger
Woods came to the scene. I started golfing during high school and loved it for the
single fact, Tiger Woods played it. Growing up I pictured golf as that once boring
sport played by old white men lacking a fan base. Just like myself, many people
hated the idea of watching golf, so the sport needed a change. Tour earnings were
low, scoring was average, and young people did not want to pick up the sport. Tiger
Woodscame on the tour in 1997 and astronomically changed the view of golf. The
Tiger Effect on golf is real and more people have been trying to work harder to get
to that Tiger bench mark. He single handily brought golf to the limelight and made it
interesting to watch this godly like figure tear up the greens while becoming an idol
to young golfers around the world.
Just do it. Nike s famous quote is seen everywhere across the world, but what
exactly does it mean? In a new commercial developed by Nike in early 2015, titled
Ripple, the widely known global empire portrayed their famous phrase. The two
main characters in this piece of media are Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, two
well known and successful golfers. The commercial displays the life of little Rory
growing up, following the career of his idol, Tiger Woods to eventually teeing off
with him. This abstract commercial had an enormous effect on audiences, because it
revealed the path of a golfer who looked up to Tiger Woods and
Flax Research Paper
Once upon a time, there lived an odd but beautiful young girl, Flax. She had deep
emerald eyes and flaxen hair that fell to just about her knees. She despised her long
flaxen hair, she grew tired of having it look the way her mother always forced it to
be. Late at night, Flax dreamed and wished for her hair to be every colorin the world:
blue as the sky, green as the grass, and purple as the lilacs that grew wildly in her
garden. The young girl focused her eyes on the objects that inhabited the sky;
wishing for freedom and hair that fell just above her ears.
Her mother was a vile old thing, with prepossessing raven black hair, brassy green
eyes, and a gigantic, black mole just under her left eye. Every day the mother would

her beautiful girl. Oh! My Flax, who was once so beautiful. You have ruined my life
with this shameful action. Now, I shall ruin your life in return.
The girl tried to run passed her, but she is far too weak to outrun her mother s
powers. The mother unleashed her wickedness through the tips of her fingers, smiting
her daughter until she fell into a deep sleep. The mother then had her moved to a dark
dungeon that sat beneath the castle.
The Lilac Girl s eyes fluttered open, and she gazed around the dimly lit room. She
found paints and began to paint a beautiful mural across the musky walls, bringing
them alive with each star she painted. Tired, she sat on the cold ground and wished
upon each of her creations.
My mother has trapped me, but, please, oh, please, I wish to be
The Physical Portrayals Of Hispanic Women In The Media
The physical portrayal of Hispanic women in the media has a large influence on the
Hispanic women and girls that view these portrayals. The media s physical portrayal
of Hispanic women is that they are voluptuous, dark haired, tanned skin, and petite.
There are many films, TV shows, and any other media outlets that portray Hispanic
women as such. Examples of these portrayals are Modern Family, Maid in
Manhattan, and Girl in Progress. In each of these movies or shows, the main
character appears as the stereotypical Hispanic woman. This is what many Hispanic
women and girls believe that the world sees them as. They also believe that this is
how they should look. This especially affects adolescent girls that identify as
Hispanic. media use may play a role in the body image development of Latina
adolescents (Schooler, 2008, p. 134). Most of the time when watching television,
Latinas see a white woman and their beauty standards. The difference between
white women in the media as opposed to Latin women is that there is a greater
variety of how white women in the U.S. look. When a Latina finally sees someone
who is Latina, they expect to see themselves, instead, they see Eva Mendes, long
wavy hair, curvy, and petite. When young Latin women see this, they expect
themselves to be the same way. If they don t look like that, it can result in a spoiled
body image of themselves. Latina women in this sample tended to hold the lowest
perceptions of their bodies, the highest awareness of Consumerism as a factor in
the body/beauty standard, and scored high in racial identification (Poran, 2002, p.
79) Latin women understand who they are and when someone is of the same
background. Many are also self conscious about their bodies, and that is likely due
to the fact that not only are actresses on TV shows thin and curvy, but many
commercials are about the newest way to lose weight rapidly, or what to buy to get
curves. All women of any race have issues with body Image, but as a Latina, the
media plays a big role in how Latinas form their body image.
According to the media s portrayal of Latin women, there are two ways Latin
women act. The first way is passive, pure, and dependent on men; the second way is
wild,
Political Leadership And Its Effects On African Americans
Political Leadership involves leading people in the right manner that will lead to
the achievement of set goals. This requires the political leaders to have special
skills that the ordinary citizen doesn t have so as to lead in a proper way.
Additionally, leaders are expected to have the power to fight for the people s rights
to any opposing or discriminating the people. During the colonization time, most of
the people from African countries were colonized by the Western countries that lead
to the movement of these people from Africa to western Countries and America so
as to serve as slaves. As such, the population of Africans in America increased at a
very high rate which impacted on the Africa American people to be exposed to slavery
, suffering, and prejudice. Henceforth, the calling of leaders to represent the Africa
American emerged. Most of the time, these leaders were subjected to a lot of
mistreatments as well as cruelty, in order to destroy the hopes of advocating for the
rights of the black people.
It was at this time that W.E.B Du Bois and Booker T. Washington stood out to defend
the black people in the ruling of America. The two political leaders advocated for the
provision of human rights to the black people and to the end of oppression,
mistreatment and discrimination in America. Booker T. was born in the early 1850s,
he later becomes a political activist in fighting for the human right. Additionally,
W.E.B Du Bois, was born on 1860s, Dubois was later a

Gregorian Chants History
The cd of chants that were released in the United States in 1994 from the
Benedictine monks in Spain received great success and positive feedback from a
variety of people. The popularity of these chants may be linked to the background of
these chants. Chants such as these can be traced back to the Middle Ages. Gregorian
chants, otherwise known as plainchant or plainsong, were often used as sacred music
in churches during that era. Chants were sung by monks in the church and their
purpose was to repeat scripture, typically from the Old Testament, without
instrumental noises in the background. People in the church during that time thought
of instruments to be distracting in their worship practices, so the chants remained
rather plain. Majority of the people living in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Chants were originally called plain because of their monophonic style. The chants
are merely a melody with no clear meter or rhythm. They also lack a beat, yet have
a reciting tone. All of the characteristics of chants cause them to be relaxing to listen
to. When people like to de stress, chants are pleasant to listen to, which might be
linked to their popularity in the United States. People may also enjoy listening to the
music because of its acapella nature. Many songs that are published in the United
States have instrumental music playing in the background. Chants may arouse a
perception of awe in those who listen to it from the United States because it is unlike
the music that they normally hear. Everyone in the World who has the ability to
listen to music may be looking for something different than another person. Someone
could be searching for a certain beat or rhythm. They could be looking for a pitch, a
particular voice part, or an instrument that interests them. This is why so many people
have a diverse taste in the music that pleases
Gross Morphology
Gross Morphology:
The vastus medialis (VM) muscle is often described as having two parts to it.
Proximally (and running down most the length of the femur) is the longus
component (VML). Distally where the VM angle of muscle fibres begins to change
from parallel/ vertical to an oblique angle is the oblique component (VMO) (Adds
and Skinner 2012).
Proximally, (VM) attaches to the proximal femur. Starting at the intertrochanteric
line and moving posteroinferiorly to the medial supracondylar line (having passed
over the pectineal line and the medial lip of the linear aspera (Drake et al 2013)).
Distally the VM attaches to the medial boarder of the patella bone over the knee joint.
VM is innervated by the femoral nerve, as with the rest of the quadriceps group.
The femoral nerve is derived from the lumbosacral plexus, in particular spinal nerves
L2,L3 and L4 (Drake et al). This however ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It runs from medially to the vastus intermedius and contracts with it (both being
innervated primarily by the femoral nerve). The distal portion, VMO, has a
stabilising role of the patella during knee extension (Benjafield 2013). The angle of
pennation of VMO acts as evidence and the contraction will occur in the direction of
pennation, thus demonstrating the VMO will provide a medial pull when activated
(during knee extension)
Normally, the patella tracks down from the intercondylar groove of the femur with
extension (Standring 2008). Senavongse ##@%)% found that VMO is
predominantly active and functioning as a stabilizer in the last 15 of active

Why Is Tailgating Bad
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, rear end
collisions/tailgating incidents are approximately 23 percent of all car crashes,
resulting in approximately 2,000 deaths and 950,000 injuries. Seeing this stat it is
not hard to see why tailgating is a very dangerous thing while driving and needs to

The first thing that is bad about this is that the insecurity of the driver who is
being tailgated. Driving while being tailgated might result in a driver swerving or
doing something that could result in something they don t want to do. The
thought of being tailgated may result in some things, one thing could be speeding
because their mind might tell them that they are going under the speed limit or not
fast enough. Next, the increase of an accident goes up a major percentage if
someone is tailgating. There was a stat done by the Driving Association in
California and they tested the result in tailgating when it occurs and doesn t occur.
The stat showed that if someone would start to tailgate the chance of an accident
would go up a whole 65% which is a major increase. Lastly, the tailgator has a split
second to respond if the driver in front of them has to rapidly stop because of some
reason. On a busy road, there are many things that could cause a sudden stop like a
ball rolling into a road or a child running into the road to get that ball, and the time
for the tailgator to respond is almost impossible to prevent a crash. Not even a
sudden stop can cause a crash but just a normal stop when the tailgator doesn t have
full attention on driving. Yes, it is evident that tailgating is bad, and we need to do
everything we can to completely eliminate

The Catcher In The Rye Essay.pdf

  • 1. The Catcher In The Rye Essay Crafting an essay on "The Catcher in the Rye" can pose a formidable challenge for several reasons. First and foremost, J.D. Salinger's novel is a complex work that delves into the intricacies of adolescence, alienation, and societal expectations. Navigating through the layers of Holden Caulfield's character and the symbolism embedded in the narrative requires a keen understanding of the author's intentions and the thematic nuances. Moreover, the novel's ambiguous ending and the open-ended nature of Holden's future leave room for diverse interpretations, making it challenging to formulate a conclusive thesis. The task is further complicated by the need to engage critically with the novel's cultural and historical context, as well as its literary influences, to provide a comprehensive analysis. Another obstacle is the multitude of existing interpretations and critical perspectives surrounding "The Catcher in the Rye." Striking a balance between original insights and acknowledging the existing body of scholarship is crucial for an essay that stands out. It requires a deep dive into literary criticism and scholarly articles to grasp the various viewpoints and synthesize them into a coherent argument. Furthermore, capturing the essence of Holden's voice and Salinger's writing style poses a unique challenge. The informal and colloquial language used by the protagonist requires a careful balancing act between maintaining academic rigor and preserving the novel's authenticity. In conclusion, writing an essay on "The Catcher in the Rye" demands a thorough understanding of the novel's themes, characters, and literary techniques, as well as an ability to navigate through the complexities of critical discourse. It is a task that requires dedication, analytical acumen, and a nuanced approach to literature. • 2. Voluntourism In America Voluntourism is a form of tourism, which travelers do voluntary work for a charity. Voluntourism, which has become more popular in the recent past, started with good intentions of white westerners spreading their knowledge and resources. Some forms of voluntourism have helped communities, but not in orphanages. The good idea has transformed into a conscious clearing photo op that s permanently affecting orphans and people in the international orphanagecommunity. Voluntourism is glamorizing orphanages making them appear better than lives at home, causing parents to surrender their parental rights in order to give them a better life. The unthought of repercussions of orphanage voluntourism is affecting orphans and orphanage culture permanently.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To solve this issue, we need to protect the orphans. We need to stop letting orphanages be treated like daycare, need better background checks and training for volunteers, and stop letting inhumane behaviors happen in our orphanages. Orphanages need more funding, better trained volunteers and better resources. Orphans have been through alot and are resilient, but we need to protect orphans around the world, giving them the closest thing we can to their families. With good volunteers, we can change these kids lives and get them into the lives they deserve. Children are amazingly resilient... we find that if we get them out of institutions and into loving families early on, they recover their developmental delays and go on to lead normal happy lives.
  • 3. Communicate A Universal Truth Analysis Don t we all have something in common? Well that s just how comedians have an effect to communicate a universal truth with their audience. Whether if its confusion, sickness, frustration we all have something that we can relate to and that is how comedians use this effect because we can relate to that feeling or subject. That s how a comedian can communicate a universal truth to us by using humor. Who s on First? No Who is on first!!!!! In that essay the universal truth was th at how confused and frustrated Costello was. We all can relate to that because more than likely all of us has been frustrated or confused before. That s part of the main reason we laugh because we can relate to it. The confusion and frustration is happening because

Located between the parietal and visceral layer is the pericardial fluid, this is emissions of pericardial cells that helps reduce friction between layers as the heart moves and thumps. The heart has three layers; the epicardium (made up of two tissue layers the visceral layer and serous pericardium layer). This layer of the heart is made out of mesothelium which is a thin transparent layer that is a delicate fibroblastic tissue and adipose tissue. This adipose tissue starts to get thickest over ventricular surfaces where the hearts coronary and cardiac vessels are found. The center layer of the heart is the myocardium (this layer is in charge of the pumping activity of the heart and is made out of cardiovascular muscle). The myocardium consists of ninety five percent of the hearts wall, which consists of muscle fibers. The cells in the myocardium layer are muscle strands. The cardiovascular muscle fibers structure bundles and whirl slantingly around the heart which is in charge of the heart s pumping activity. The internal layer of the heart is the endocardium (this is a flimsy layer of endothelium tissue overlying a thin layer of connective tissue). This layer gives a smooth coating layer to the chamber of the heart and spreads the valves of the heart. This smooth layer lessens friction as blood moves all through the heart. The endothelium and endocardium have large veins that connect to the heart. The heart is four chambers; two
  • 5. Hockey Essay Hockey is a fast, exciting sport played by two teams on a sheet of ice called a rink. Each team has six players on the ice, one goalie, two defensemen, two wingers, and one center man. The players skate up and down the ice shooting or passing a hard rubber disk called a puck with sticks. They score points by hitting the puck into the net. Hockey is much faster and swifter than any other sport. As the players streak across the ice, their powerful shots and passes can send the puck faster than 100 miles [160 kilometers] per hour. A goalkeeper on each team defends his net from the puck going in. They must often make quick slides across the on their skates, stomachs, knees or backs to stop the puck from going into the net. A puck that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Skating is the most important hockey skill. Players must be able to turn sharply, skate backwards and perform many other maneuvers while skating at top speed. They must be able to do this with their head up and while stick handling the puck. Passing occurs when a player who has the puck passes it to another player. In most cases the players use their sticks to propel the puck toward the receiver. These passes are either flat passes or flip passes. To make a flat pass the player sends the puck traveling along the surface of the ice. To make a flip pass the player causes it to rise off the ice to avoid interception by an opponent. Sometimes the passer simply leaves the puck behind, so that a teammate can get it, this is called a drop pass. Stick handling is the use of the stick to control the puck. The player first moves the puck with one side of the blade and then with the other side while skating. The player makes some sweeps of the stick some wide and some narrow. In this way the player keeps the opponent guessing as to the next move and also makes it difficult to steal the puck. Shooting is the skill needed to drive the puck into the net and score goals. Most shots are either wrist shots or slap shots. In a wrist shot the blade does not leave the ice. The player uses strong wrist action to propel the puck. For a slap shot the player raises the stick for a back swing and

And yet we ve auctioned off more and more of our public space to private commercial interests, with their constant demands on us to look at the products on display or simply absorb some bit of corporate messaging. With a distance of 3,000 miles, the Rockies must have a variety of physical features and landscapes that makes it an attractive area to tour and explore. However, all of the human interest in this mountain range could come at a devastating cost. The Rocky Mountains are experiencing slope erosion where the top layer of soil falls off usually into areas of water and according to Armand Eardley, from Encyclopedia Britannica, Logging and oil exploration have been responsible for accelerated slope erosion, both from operations themselves and from the access roads built to reach them. Erosion has stripped away the often thin soil cover and caused serious silting of streams. Erosion is harmful because it leads to this serious silting of streams. According to the National Geographic, Silt is a solid, dust like

From the 30th of September 2013, there were a reported 6,403 people in closed detention, this number including 1,078 children. It is not surprising from these high detention rates and poor living standards that between January 2011 and February 2013 that there were 4,313 reported incidents of actual, threatened or attempted serious self harm in these immigration detention facilities. From 12 deaths that occurred between the 1st of July 2010 and the 20th of June 2013 6 of these have been found by coroners to be suicides (Triggs, 2013). Digital Screen Advantages And Disadvantages Paper or plastic? was the often heard question from the bagger at the grocery store for many years, but these days the bigger decision is whether to read words on paper or a digital screen. Paper has a long and documented history, having been in use for over 2000 years, while the availability of the digital screen has only come about in the past 50 years. Both paper and digital screens provide the same fundamental function, an avenue for the written word to be conveyed and understood by a person. While the ability to look at print on paper or on a screen are fundamentally the same, using paper still has a unique set of advantages such as the smaller chance of being sidetracked, the accuracy of proofreading, and the increased comprehension that the digital screen has not caught up to yet. The ability to get easily distracted while using a digital screen provides a driving reason to consider hardcopy to accomplish tasks. Tasks often have deadlines, and this doesn t change when having to accomplish readingfor a project or a research paper. The longer it takes the user to finish the reading, the harder it becomes to accomplish the job in the allotted time. Using a laptop or desktop computerto perform reading can be advantageous to the user due to the ability to have multiple documents open and be able to do any number of other tasks at the same time. This is certainly a reason to perform work using the digital screen, but this becomes a drawback when being used to

When ALA is consumed it gets absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract and transported to other organs in the body, for example, it can cross the blood brain barrier to enter the brain, or it can go to the liver where ALA gets reduced to its reduced form called dilhydrolipic acid (DHLA). Most of the time when watching television, Latinas see a white woman and their beauty standards. The difference between white women in the media as opposed to Latin women is that there is a greater variety of how white women in the U.S. look. When a Latina finally sees someone who is Latina, they expect to see themselves, instead, they see Eva Mendes, long wavy hair, curvy, and petite. When young Latin women see this, they expect themselves to be the same way. If they don t look like that, it can result in a spoiled body image of themselves. Latina women in this sample tended to hold the lowest perceptions of their bodies, the highest awareness of Consumerism as a factor in the body/beauty standard, and scored high in racial identification (Poran, 2002, p. 79) Latin women understand who they are and when someone is of the same background. Many are also self conscious about their bodies, and that is likely due to the fact that not only are actresses on TV shows thin and curvy, but many commercials are about the newest way to lose weight rapidly, or what to buy to get curves. All women of any race have issues with body Image, but as a Latina, the media plays a big role in how Latinas form their body image. According to the media s portrayal of Latin women, there are two ways Latin women act. The first way is passive, pure, and dependent on men; the second way is wild,
