Woodland Middle School Observation
Starting my opening school experience I was nervous. I could not eat or sleep the day before. I
woke up bright and early to arrive at Woodland Middle School by 7:30am only to find out the
school did not open up till 8:30am. I was not upset that I got there so early, and in fact, it was a
great because I got a chance to get familiar with the school and its principal, Dr. J. Stamper.
Woodland Middle schoolis located behind Camp Creek and is on Stone Rd. Their colors are blue
and gold. The mascots of the school are the Wolverines. Woodland s mission statement: Woodland
Middle School is on the P.R.O.W.L. I am a Problem Solver Recognizing Opportunities, and I am
Willing to become a Life Long Learner. (Woodland, 2015)
During the first day meeting Dr. Stamper introduced me to all the teachers at the school. During
this brief meeting I learned that Woodland is a focus school. A focus school is the school s

Ron Voice Speech
Ron Sims Guest speaker Ron Sims was the guest speaker this week from the Oklahoma County
Crisis Intervention Center. From what I learned the facility is fairly new and is located in
downtown Oklahoma City. The center treats adults only and has a 16 bed locked co ed unit
which will serve as inpatient treatment, as well as an emergency unit which can keep their
patients for up to 24 hours. The Crisis Center helps people in mental illness crises and drug
/substance abuse. There are a couple different types of detox that they use for their patients who
are coming off of drugs. They usually use a step down method, in which a nurse would slowly
taper the patient off of the abused substance, as well as situational detox. This type is mainly for...

These situations can be a drug overdose, suicide attempt, mental break down, and so on. In 2011
I was an involuntary patient at the Oklahoma County Crisis Intervention Center. I stayed a little
over a week after a failed suicide attempt. I was the only woman in the unit who was a suicide
attempt, and there was only one other man. There were probably 20+ other people who were
detoxing from different drugs and substances. I had no knowledge of drug abuse so coming in
still drunk and drugged up from the attempt was quite scary, especially because I was the
youngest patient they had in the adult unit. The other male suicide attempt was about my age
and the only other person that I could relate to at that time, and he would eventually become my
boyfriend just a few weeks after we both were discharged. I also got to talk to a lot of other
addicts. There was a PCP user, quite a few opioid abusers, and a couple of heroin addicts. I
learned a lot about these drugs which I was clueless about before, and it helped me understand
what these people were thinking. Being a former patient of the facility will definitely help me in
my career field to understand those who are going through crises. I now know a lot more about
drug and alcohol abuse as well as different mental

Essay On How To Protect Us From Ourselves
How To Protect Us From Ourselves
The United States of America is an amazing country, mostly known for the rights that we are given
at birth; however, the United States, a wealthy nation, remains a county that does not provide
universal healthcare to its citizens thus, millions of Americans remain uninsured. Making this a
major issue that needs to be addressed. The one country that prides itself over its outstanding
healthcare system is Canada. According to the 2000 World Health Organization s ratings, Canada
is ranked at 30th and the U.S. 37th among 191 nations who participated in the study. Additionally,
Canadians have a life expectancy of 80 opposed to Americans who have a 78 years. Dr. Krell

If they were to pay for the medical bill out of their own wallet then they d be paying for a
number of things such as the ambulance (if they had called one), the doctor for seeing you,
treatment, medication, lab work, x rays and other such medical procedures. Once the individual is
released from the hospital it is likely that the medically uninsured individual will not continue with
his medical regimen. A recent study had shown that 62% of bankruptcies are caused from high
medical bills. Meaning that our healthcare is expensive thus, not everyone can afford coverage.
Since Canada has a higher life expectancy than America it is thought that Canada s healthcare
plan is better. Dr. Krell reports the disparity of life expectancy may be due to good healthcare.
This study helps us come to a conclusion how healthcare can play a big factor in life expectancy. A
study in April 18 Annals of Internal Medicinecompares the survival rate of patients with cystic
fibrosis in the U.S. and Canada. Their results concluded that the patients in Canada had a 10 year
higher survival rate as opposed to the U.S. patients. It is speculated that the lack of healthcare
coverage or insurance status in the U.S. attributed to the results. However, the study also showed if
a U.S. patient who has private insurance his/hers survival rate is the same as a Canadian s. An

The Role Of Dance Therapy For The Lgbt Community Essay
I earned my Bachelor s in Neuroscience from Centenary College of Louisiana, where I graduated
with departmental honors. While in college, I co founded a nonprofit that aimed to provide support
for the transgender community, especially those who were homeless veterans. I led workshops at
medical schools to teach future doctors how to provide comprehensive care to the LGBT
community. Through this grassroots community organizing, I realized current approaches to
medicine and research focus on genderin binary ways that leave out transgenderpopulations. These
experiences sparked my passion in biocultural anthropology and holistic human health. My interest
in human biology began when I worked as a part of a team that investigated dance therapy as a
form of treatment for the symptoms of Parkinson s disease. I conducted interviews in which
participants completed quality of life assessments. I learned about the significance of combining
subjective and objective measures of stress. The main findings were that after months of therapy,
patients showed slight improvement in tremor and gait as well as positive emotional life
assessments. As a team member, I collected data and presented research at the Society for
Neuroscience. Most research on Parkinson s focuses on cellular mechanisms in brain functioning
instead of treating symptoms as a product of environment. In order to apply this framework to
marginalized populations in my research, I had to learn how to successfully engage in

Government Vs. Voting In The Court System
How much money a person pays for taxes, how public schools work, why individuals protest are
small ways the government impact and change Americans lives. Learning about the government is
beyond crucial because the government affects every angle of Americans lives on a daily basis.
Learning about the governmentand the nation in general assists citizens in getting involved and
acknowledging their Constitutional rights. Additionally, it makes citizens appreciative and more
inspired. Just like the government have the power to change the nation, citizens do as well by
getting involved. However, in order to use any power beneficially citizens need to acknowledge the
governmental system. For instance, when citizens realize that their votes matter they will for sure
get involved. Furthermore, when citizens learn about the government they realize there are variety
of ways to voice their opinions. For example, votingin the presidency election, joining a work

is important to learn about their actions and how they shaped our legislation system. Moreover,
appreciating those who dedicated their lives to serve the rest is important because it sparks
nationalism among citizens. Nationalism will inspire citizens to get involved with the government.

This revision included the utilities competitive position as part of its financial rating. FPL s
positions rose based on the new criteria, placing them in the top 10% of publicly owned utilities.
Major Issues Confronting FPL in 1994 In spite of a favorable position rating, FPL cannot ignore
the deregulation movements threatening their current business landscape. The most important
issues facing FPL in May 1994 are potential competition resulting from industry deregulation and
their high payout ratio. 1) Retail Wheeling The threat of retail wheeling within FPL s market
forces management to consider whether or not they can maintain high payout ratios. Retail
wheeling is reshaping the utilities industry and if enacted in Florida, it will bring grave
challenges to the future of FPL. 2) Low Capacity Margin FPL must prepare for increased
competition from the establishment of retail wheeling and other forms of distribution
deregulation. FPL is an old firm which is running at roughly 92% capacity. Their low capacity
margin (8.6%) suggests that they have less room for growth compared to their competitors. FPL
must work to foster growth in order to survive in an evolving industry. 3) Transmission Power

Comparing Beowulf, The Wanderer, And The 13th Warrior
Ty DeJames
Mr. Neely

One common question in literature that always reappears is What is an epic hero? Or better yet
an epic hero in Anglo Saxon culture. I believe there is more to being a hero than just being strong
or intelligent. An epic hero in my eyes is oneself who comes to portray the beliefs of the society in
which the tale/story is depicted. A few great examples of the Anglo Saxon epic heroare the literary
characters in Beowulf, The Wanderer, and The 13th Warrior. These are all outstanding examples
of Anglo Saxon epic heroes because they all came to show the evident characteristics bravery,
loyalty, friendship. In the Anglo Saxon culture and literature, the meaning of to be a hero was to
be a warrior and or a strong being. A hero also had to possess the vast characteristics of being
strong, intelligent, and courageous. All warriors of Anglo Saxon culture and literature, had to
be willing to face any odds and be willing to be the underdog that chases success. Also they had
to fight to the death for their glory and accept their each individual fates. The typical Anglo
Saxon hero was always able to be all of these and still be humble and very down to earth. Out of
all literature Beowulf is, arguably, the best example one can use of an Anglo Saxon hero. But, in
The 13th Warrior, Ibn Fadlan (played by Antonio Banderas) similar to Beowulf, also shows many
of the characteristics that come to show the qualities one needs to possess to become an Anglo

Fallacies Examples
According to the text, The Power of Critical Thinking, by Louis Vaughn, a fallacy is defined as,
An argument form that is both common and defective; a recurring mistake in reasoning
(Vaughn, 561). Fallacies can be found in many places whether it is in the media, the workplace,
or around your peers. Some fallacies contain the truth while others at a time can be false or
misleading. It is essential to be able to identify fallacies because they can be used in many ways,
some good some bad. Fallacies are used every day, whether it is to influence someone s opinion to
agree with one side of an argumentrather than the other or to draw in others by appealing to their
emotions or authority. Today, I will be discussing three important fallacies and give examples of
each. These fallacies include Genetic Fallacy, Ad Hominem, and Appeal to Tradition.
As stated by Vaughn, a Genetic Fallacy is the fallacy of arguing that a claim is true or false
solely because of its abstract or nonhuman origins (Vaughn, 561). Instead of looking into what
someone is actually implying is valid, the source gets attacked. It does not matter whether it is an
organization or a single person their reasoning is being invalidated simply because of their origin.
What is being argued is skipped and just one look is taken at the source and they are told they are
wrong. For example, in school, you were taught that five plus five equals ten but at home, you were
taught that five plus five equals twenty five.

Peace As A Concept Of The Fundamental Problems Faced By...
Peace as a concept is seen through the lens of the fundamental problems faced by the world today:
war, armed conflict and political violence. By insinuation, peace itself is understood predominantly
as a negative concept, or as the absence of these phenomena (Atack, 2009).
Martin Luther King said that True peace is not merely the absence of some negative force tension,
confusion or war; it is the presence of some positive force justice, good will and brotherhood
(King, 1957). Indeed, peace should focus on the positive social and political phenomena such as
integrity, equality and wellbeing. In order to create a peaceful world, humans have to strive for
positive peace, a condition brought about by establishing standards of justice, human rights, and
sustainable development in beloved communities (Harris, 1996, p. 386). Gandhiji too described his
ideas of peace with a focus on the positive, according to him peace includes:
(i) Peace implies the capacity to live together in harmony.
(ii) The creation of non violent social systems, i.e., a society free from structural violence.
(iii) The absence of exploitation and injustice of every kind.
(iv) International cooperation and understanding.
(v) Ecological balance and conservation.
(vi) Peace of mind, or the psycho spiritual dimension of peace. (NCERT, 2006)
These positive views of peace lead us beyond the limited negative associations the notion is centered
around. It is important to understand that the concept

Malcolm X, A Civil Right Activist And Powerful Black Leader
In the influential and provoking essay Learning to Read (1965), Malcolm X, a civil right activist
and powerful black leader, narrates his story on how books transformed his life forever into the
realm of human rights. Incorporating sequential narrative and social analysis, he explains his
methodology in attaining literacy and how this process influences him to espouse black separatism
and resent white people, while providing historical fact and jarring criticism in his arguments. Using
first person narrative, Malcom advances through the story by pointing each progression in detail,
while using provocative diction in order to evoke emotional response without forsaking essential
argumentation in his writing. Malcolm conveys his writing to an ostensibly general audience,
although he purposely focuses more on white people in order to unleash his anger and criticism.
Malcolm begins his auto biography in his frustration of not being able to express his thought and
even calls himself [dysfunctional] (Malcolm 2) to demonstrate his initial helpless condition. To
make it worse, as if to appeal to the reader s pathos, he was situated inside a prison. In his
helplessness, he reveals his innocent motivation of how he starts to attain literacy; by mere
jealousy to another people. He describes his own effort in an exciting tone, exhausting every inch
of the dictionary by copying it. He describes his dictionary as a miniature encyclopedia which
allows him to understand the book s

Examples Of Mamb To The Slaughter By Mary Maloney
The unlawful premeditated killing of one human being from another, is the basic definition for
murder. Unlawfully killing someone and having no reason of killing him/her is murder, there
just isn t any argument for it. In Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl, Mary Maloney is a
housewife married to Patrick Maloney in the 1950s. He tells her something she doesn t want to
hear, more than likely it s a divorce, and she still decides to cook dinner for him. She takes a
frozen leg lamb they were going to eat that night and hits him over the head with it. Cold blood
murderer, that it was she is. Mary Maloney is a conniving criminal and aware of and responsible
for her actions due to her ability to manipulate others through her actions. This makes her guilty of
her conviction. Mary Maloney is guilty because of her manipulation to others, she acted like she
was panicking about his death, and at the end, she had a devilish laugh because she knew she got
away with murder.
To start off telling why she is a murderer, she is able to manipulate others through her words and
her actions. Manipulation is something that someone needs to be able to get away with others. If
someone can get them to believe him or her, then that person can say whatever that person wants
them to hear. This is exactly what Mary Maloney did to the police. Mary Maloney in Lamb to the
Slaughter says You must be terribly hungry by now because it s long past your supper time, and I

Observation Of A Courtroom
Courtroom Workgroup
The courtroom workgroup consists of a Judge, Prosecutor, Defense attorney, Bailiff, Clerks, Court
reporters and the public. There can be three types of clerks present at court the law clerk, clerk of
court, and the docket clerk. During my court observation I observed the judge, prosecutor, and the
defense attorney. The Prosecutor and Judge were observed more during my court observation. The
Defense attorney wasn t observed as much because the defendants waived the right to an attorney
on some cases.
The judge, prosecutors, and defense attorneys all have detailed qualifications. The most noted
qualification is the actors must have completed law school. They must be educated in Legal
ethnics to even take the bar to get out of law school. After completing law school, the actors can
become attorneys or prosecutors. To become a state judge, one must be appointed to that position
by the merit system. And to become a federal judge an individual must be nominated. Also, an
actor who is a practicing attorney whether it be defense or persecution to move up in rank the
individual must be promoted. But to be a chief prosecutor one must have to be elected locally. All
federal attorneys roles are given by appointment.
Roles Duties Prosecutors have the duty of prosecuting criminal cases. A prosecutor holds the most
critical role in the criminal courts system because of its central position. Prosecutor role bridges all
other roles. The reason why is because the

Sexual repression in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof Sexual repression is a psychological disorder where
people cannot admit their sexuality to others because they feel ashamed about it. Suppressing these
intense feelings can lead to emotional stress. Some will even feel the need to abuse substances as a
coping mechanism. The consequences of repressed sexualityare explored in the playCat on a Hot
Tin Roof, where author Tennessee Williams looks at homosexualityand alcoholism, two issues he
faced during his lifetime. Williams is able to express himself through the play s protagonist, Brick,
who struggles with these very same things. In the play however, Williams goes a step further by
looking at how repressed sexuality not only affects the individual,... Show more content on

Brick has difficulty accepting the fact that he might be gay and, as such, does not open up about
his feelings. This constant repression leads to a poor relationship between him and his wife that
lasts throughout the play. Brick s repression causes Maggie to feel confined, although she does
not seem to know why at first. In one scene in the play, Maggie tries to get Brick to talk about the
memory of his friend, Skipper, but he just replies by pouring himself a drink. She clearly tries to
facilitate Brick s opening up to her about his feelings but he simply turns to alcohol as the
constant cure to his problems. Brick, as well as many repressed homosexuals, suffer from
alcoholism as a consequence to repression (Sutton). Maggie does not approach Brick s sexuality
in a sympathetic way. She says, in reference to Skipper, You two had something that had to be
kept on ice, yes, incorruptible, yes! (Williams 44). Maggie explains to Brick which indicates that
she knew the true nature of Brick and Skipper s relationship and how Skipper s memory will
always be everlasting. She does not sympathize with him and reminds him that it should be kept on
ice , encouraging him to keep his feelings

People have used them for centuries but it is only recently that western culture has rediscovered the
wonders of herbs. In part, this was because the development of allopathic medicinal techniques in
the west combined with the lack of scientific support for non conventional medicines to give an
unsavory (and quite wrong) reputation to herbal medicines and supplements. Recent discoveries
have forced the medical community to reconsider the benefits of herbs. This has mostly come about
with increasing exposure of western community to the healing techniques practiced in other
cultures and countries that proved to be more effective than, or at the least complimentary to,

Moral Justice In Measure For Measure, By William Shakespeare
Measure for Measure is a play by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written in 1603 or
1604. Originally published in the First Folio of 1623, where it was listed as a comedy. The play s
first recorded performance occurred in 1604. The play s main themes include justice, mortality and
mercy in Vienna, and the dichotomy between corruption and purity: some rise by sin, and some by
virtue fall. Mercy and virtue prevail, as the play does not end tragically, with virtues such as
compassion and forgiveness being exercised at the end of the production. While the play focuses on
justice overall, the final scene illustrates that Shakespeare intended for moral justice to temper strict
civil justice: a number of the characters receive understanding and leniency, instead of the harsh
punishment to which they, according to the law, could have been sentenced. Measure for Measureis
often called one of Shakespeare s problem plays. It was, and continues to be, classified as comedy,
though its tone may defy those expectations. The theme of Measure for Measure is the temperance
of justice with mercy. Merciful justice is juxtaposed throughout with strict enforcement of the law.
The duke, Isabella, Escalus, Mariana, and the Provost all advocate mercy. Only Angelo demands
strict adherence to the law, even to recommending his own execution when his deeds are
discovered. Treated with mercy, the play s criminals respond with repentance, making forgiveness
and repentance another

Aims were stated in the introduction of this paper. Author were attempted to figure out what kind of
sounds will spinner dolphins produced during the foraging behaviour and what were the
relationship between these sounds and different stages of foraging behaviour. Hypotheses were also
clearly stated in both abstract and introduction in this paper. Benoit Bird hypothesized that the

Second, they formed a tight line stage reducing their interpair spacing, and began to undulate their

surrounding the preys after prey densities increased as to avoid dolphins. Last stage, each pair of
dolphins had the opportunity actively fed on the prey for about 10s inside the circle before taking
the positions of other pairs. In this study, two response variables can be found which were the
whistles rates and echolocation click rates. Both of these response variables were dependent on the
foraging patterns as different foraging patterns produced different rates and sound. Besides that, the
whistle rates and echolocation rates can also affected by water depth because sound can only

It was shocking to see how the book differs from the movie.I can relate to the readers who have
caught the differences before between books and movies. Also, I have never stumbled upon a

reading the book, then continuing on with the movie, I was bewildered at the large amount of
detail that was cut off from the movie, or changed the suspense in the movie not leaving us

The American Prohibition of Alcohol in the 1920 s Essay
The American Prohibition of Alcohol in the 1920 s
The prohibition of alcohol in the United States lasted from 1920 until 1932. The movement began
in the late nineteenth century, and was fueled by the formation of the Anti Saloon League in 1893
(Why Prohibition?). This league and other anti alcohol organizations, began to succeed in
establishing local prohibition laws. By the 1920 s prohibition was a national effort.
The prohibition movement was aimed primarily at closing saloons. Saloons were the brewing

was one saloon for every one hundred fifty or two hundred Americans. This competitiveness forced
saloon keepers to find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other way to get alcohol was in speakeasies; underground saloons. Oftentimes the bartenders
at speakeasies would not actually mix drinks, but only supply glasses and ice. The only real skill
involved with being a bartender was the ability to remain calm during police raids. Some
considered the bartenders at speakeasies to be cheapening the profession (Cocktail). Still, many of
these establishments are still open, and boast of their activity during Prohibition. There are more
than fifteen bars currently open in Chicago that operated as speakeasies in the 1920 s and use that
fact as an advertisement.
The speakeasies were supplied illegally by gangsters, most notably; Al Capone in Chicago.
Capone spent over $75 million bribing police and politicians in Chicago, but within two years
was earing $60 million a year through the sale of alcohol. Other activities were earning him an
extra $45 million a year. The money that could be made from selling alcohol illegally led to
gang wars, and over 200 gangsters were killed in Chicago in just four years. Bill Thomson,
elected mayor of Chicago 1927, was one of the men Capone bribed. Upon election, Thomson
boasted that he would reopen speakeasies that had been shut down, and allow more to be opened
(Beitrag).
This utter disregard for the law, even by men in such high positions, leads to the overall conclusion
that prohibition was a failure. Although consumption of alcohol is estimated to have

Why kids Lie In the world there a lot of kids that likes to lie. They lie because they don t think the
consequences that have telling lies. It is because sometimes parent don t show their kids to don t
lie. There are other parents that sometimes make their kids to tell the truth but kids don t do that.
According to some articles, news, and studies, there are a result about why kids lie. There are some
articles where show a percentage why kids lie, also there are some news or studies that show the
same. Some studies show why kids lie and why isn t important. Po Bronson Ashley Merryman in

the lying is almost innocent. Their child s too young to know what lies are, or that lying s
wrong. When the child gets older and learns that lies are bad, parents believe that lying will stop.
A child who is going to lie must recognize the truth, intellectually conceive of an alternate reality,
and be able to convincingly sell that new reality to someone else. When children first begin to
lying, they lie to avoid punishment, and because of that they lie indiscriminately. One short
example is, if there are two kids in room and one of them broke a television the more intelligent
will call their mom to tell that he wasn t the responsible that was his brother. By the time a child

Apple Vs. Samsung Galaxy Essay
Of all of the possible answers to the question of why Apple fans are willing to pay so much, the
most intuitive one would be to say that Apple products are simply better than the rest. This may
have indeed been the case for many of Apple s older products. The iPhone, as many remember,
was revolutionary at the time, owning around 30% of the US market share a little over a year
after its release (Elmer Dewitt 2008). Similarly, the iPad was far bigger than any of its rival
tablets for years. This, however, may not be the case anymore. As more and more products like
the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Microsoft Surface have come to compete with Apple s famous
products, it becomes increasingly unclear which products are better. Yet still, apple maintains its
dedicated fans. Here the hardware capabilities of Apple s computers, phones, and tablets will be
compared to that of their competition, and the software that drives this technology will be
analyzed in order to show what factor it might play in the popularity of Apple products. Apple s
oldest products are of course Mac computers. Although we see and hear about Mac computers
everywhere, from movies to commercials, the mac computer still holds a somewhat small
portion of the global PC market share. Mac computers held only 7.4% of the PC market share in
the 3rd Quarter of 2016, while other companies like Lenovo and HP each owned a little over 20%
of the market share over the same quarter (Campbell 2016). Yet still, Apple manages to grab a

China s Economic And Military Power
China is an important country for both the United Sates (US) and Asia to be mindful of. China s
economic strength, cyber capabilities, and intelligence capabilities make it a country of great
significance to the US. China s economic and military power makes it a key player in Asia.
Significance to the US Many years of strong economic growth and smart exporting strategies has
allowed China to come close to surpassing the U.S. economy. China is currently in its 13th Five
Year Plan, which is China s economic guideline. In this five year plan, which covers 2016 2020,
China intends to focus on innovation and encourage foreign investment (The 13th, n.d). China s
focus on innovation will challenge U.S. manufacturers attempting to do the same. Should China
enact policies more open to outside investment, it will likely allow the U.S. to strengthen US
China relations and improve its economic stance through foreign investment in China. When the
economic bubble burst in 2008, it affected the U.S. economy. The US went through a recession
and struggled to find growth again for several years. China suffered few impacts and its economy
continued to grow steadily until recently. China owns approximately $1.3 trillion of the US s
debt. It is the largest foreign owner of U.S. debt. (Long, 2016). If China s economy were to falter
and it wanted to cash in on that debt, it could cause grave economic consequences for the US.
China owning a significant portion of U.S. debt allows China to subtly

Academic researchers have recognised a gap exists between the actual and potential values of radio
frequency identification (RFID) technology in supply chain industry. This paper provides
understanding into the tactical value of RFID by building a concept on how RFID used in supply

INTRODUCTION
RFID refers to any system that can transmit identification numbers over radio. RFID system is
made up of a unique identification number, which is allocated to a specific item, an identity tag
which is attached to the item with a chip capable of storing a unique identification number,
networked RFID readers and data processing systems that are capable of collecting signals from
multiple tags at high speeds and of pre processing this data, and one or more networked databases
that store the product information RFID is a wireless technology, which allows transmission of
information without the physical connection. In its most basic form, an RFID system has two
components: tags and readers. A tag (transponder) consists of a microchip that stores
identification data of the item to which it is attached and an antenna to transmit this data via
radio waves. A reader (interrogator) sends out a radio signal and prompts the tag to broadcast the
data contained on its chip. The reader then converts the radio waves returned from the tag into
digital data and forwards them to a computer system. A reader can scan an area for any tags that
are tuned to the same frequency as the reader. The frequency on which the RFID system operates
designates the intensity of the radio waves used to transmit information and is a key factor in
determining performance levels and applications for the system. Nearly all RFID systems operate

Problems In The Movie Zootopia
Most disney movies deal with love and the causal happy ever after motto that does not correspond
to an average person s everyday life. However, the animated film Zootopia contradicts the fantasy
world that Disney movies tend to portray a variety of times.Disney s featured film illustrates
international problems going on in today s society, and no matter what age, race, gender or religion
one is, people tend to get generalized or stereotyped at least once in their lifetime. The younger
generation should start to consider real world problems that go on throughout the world, like in the
movie Zootopia for example, the movie targets problems specifically dealing with
stereotyping, racism, and diversity,in order to show how society is changing at a fast pace, and that
people should adapt to the new set of standards that are forthcoming as the years have
progressed, due to the fact that, certain actions may affect an individual. Today the world deals with
numerous amounts of problems, that get recognized once in awhile. However, in order for history to
not repeat itself, the younger generation must start acknowledging dilemmas that occur worldwide.
A perfect example that can lead children to identify those kinds of problems in by simply
watching the movie Zootopia, in which it deals with problems that address stereotypes ,focuses on
generalizations and its effects, and shows how sometimes people are biased towards specific
minorities.Observing the film one might catch coded language that is used to describe certain
minority groups, for example,African Americans.Antrum argues that, Terms such as savage and
biologically predisposed are terms used to describe black peoplein the real world (Antrum.)In the
movie they do not not address race in specific, but they do instead use terms such as predator to
fit the kid friendly theme. The movie intended for young kids is saying how black people get
called certain names all the time and that they are victims of racial slurs perpetually. Other people
are supposed to be scared by them since they are generalized on all the time and the movie
illustrates this throughout the film. While watching the film the city looks like a perfect place to

The UH 60 Black Hawk has been in service for the better part of three decades. The Army has
invested into a new program called Future Vertical Lift (FVL). This program will develop a
replacement for the United States Armed Forces rotary wing aircraft that include the UH 60
Black Hawk, AH 64 Apache, and CH 47 Chinook. The aim of the program is to develop an
airframe that will combine several roles into one aircraft, effectively cutting down costs for the
military. Many different design concepts are in in development. Companies such as Sikorsky,
Boeing, Bell, and Lockheed Martin are all building rotorcraft flight demonstrators for 2017. The
Army hopes to retire their aging aircraft with an airframe that can encompass all aspects of heavy
lift, utility, and attack into one common design at a much more affordable price. The new
helicopter should be faster, more agile, and carry more troops and cargo father than ever before
(Mizokami, 2016). The Vietnam War, the first airmobile war spawned the combat helicopter. The
Bell UH 1 Iroquoisor simply known as the Huey provided that air mobility. Primarily designed as a
medical platform it did not possess all the requirements that fulfill all the United States Armys
requirements. The military had a need for an improved and more capable aircraft to fill the shoes
of the Huey. In 1972, the Army issued a tinder for a new front line helicopter. It needed to be able
to carry 11 combat troops plus 4 crewmembers and cruise

Honor Is Love In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By Gabriel...
Honor is Love in Chronicle of a Death Foretold In Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel
Garcia Marquez, honor is a very prominent theme in the town and its culture. The need for honor
influences many actions taken by individuals and traditions that characters strictly follow. As the
narrator s mother states, honor is love. The reader sees this statement supported throughout the
story through beliefs and actions of the Vicario twins, Angela s mother, and the townspeople as a
whole. Honor is such a guiding force in the small community that it almost replaces what love
should be. Pura Vicario, Angela s mother, for example, values honor more than she values true
family cherishing and love. Angela s twin brothers have high respect for their own family honor,
and they strive to uphold it by showing their love for their sister in hunting Santiago to retrieve her
honor. The townspeople display their devotion to honor as they do not attempt to stop Santiago
Nasar s death. The qualified statement honor is love applies to the novelin actions by the twins,
Angela s mother, and the townspeople, and how their desperation to defend honor controls them.
First, the Vicario brothers prove to be very clear examples of honor is love through their actions to
killSantiago Nasar. Although they do not quite desire to murder him, they know that in order to
gain their mother s love and show their own love for Angela, they have to kill Santiago. Pablo and
Pedro realize that they must not allow

Essay on Underage Drinkers Face Repercussion
Today there seems to be an increasing number of underage drinkers. Teens seem to be drinking
their way through high school and college because it s the trend of the century. They go out to
party and there is no party, if there is no alcohol. They begin to believe there is no fun in partying
without the use of alcohol. According to, the 2009 Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 40% of high
school students drank some amount of alcohol, 24% binge drank, and 10% drove after drinking
and 28% rode with a driver who had been drinking(Youth Risk Behavior Survey, P.3) . Where is
our youth consuming alcohol for their parties? From older friends, siblings, or simply by taking
what their parents have at home. Not acknowledging that there will be consequences... Show more

Underage drinkers risk their lives every time they decide to drink. In addition to, underage
drinkers manage to get themselves into a legal predicament when they consume alcohol.
According to, the Surgeon General s Call to Action to Prevent and Reduce Underage Drinking,
Underage drinking increases the risk of physical and sexual assault, and creates secondhand
effects that can put others at risk. Loud and unruly behavior, property destruction, unintentional
injuries, violence, and even death because of underage alcohol use afflict innocent parties.
Figure 1: Percentage of People Who Reported Binge Drinking in the Past 30 Days For example,
about 45 percent of people who die in crashes involving a drinking driver under the age of 21 are
people other than the driver. Such secondhand effects often strike at random, making underage
alcohol use truly everybody s problem (Surgeon General s Call to Action to Prevent and Reduce
Underage Drinking, P.2) . Underage drinkers have no sense of right and wrong when under the
influence causing them to do things that tend to get them in a dilemma. They operate abnormally
and not in a restrained manner. Figure 2: Underage Drinking and Driving Accident (Robert
Falcione) According to, the California state laws, It is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to

Athletic Program Risk Management Program
Athletic Program Risk Management
Athletic programs and their directors are not immune to legal liability due to an injury or harm to
a participant and spectators. The goal of a risk management plan for an athletic program is
mitigate the risk of injury or harm and develop a proactive plan of action to increase the level of
safety for all (Wolohan, 2013). Therefore, having a risk managementplan in place minimizes the
legal liability and turns the focus to safety rather than the averting responsibility (Wolohan, 2013).
In addition to safety, a properly formed risk management program reduces the financial and
physical risks that may occur while an athletic event is taking place (Wolohan, 2013). Conducting a
risk assessment is one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final stage of risk assessment is to determine the method in which to diminish, remove, regulate
or manage the risk as to reduce financial loss or physical injury (Wolohan, 2013). Each of these
three steps are ongoing for any organization as it is the duty of those in charge to reduce any and
all risk for participants and spectators alike (Wolohan, 2013).
Identify Area of Risk
Identifying what the risks are will enable a sports manager to develop a plan of action to decrease
the liability to the organization. This can be done through yearly audits of physical facilities,
athletic programs, current emergency procedures or protocol, and employees of the organization.
Furthermore, identifying areas of risk is an ongoing process that needs to be a priority for sport and
recreational managers (Wolohan, 2013). The risks associated with the physical structure of
buildings and bodily injury are usually the main focus of assessments. The non tangible aspect of
identifying risk is to assess employees of an organization. Performing criminal background checks
and drug testing of potential hires and current employees is highly recommended (Wolohan, 2013).
Within any organization there is the potential for sexual harassment, discrimination, intentional
torts, assault, battery, and wrongful termination to name a few (Wolohan, 2013). Therefore,

Graffiti Public Good
In the short essay Graffiti is a Public Good, Even As it Challenges the Law Lu Olivero brings up
the topic of graffiti and it s righteousness as an artform. Olivero starts off the essay with an
explanation that graffiti is a subgenre of vandalism, which is a form of self expression and is,
therefore, art. However, graffitiembodies a different sense of aestheticism than of the vandalism
and often carry a critical message behind it ultimately holding value as an artwork. Throughout the
essay, Olivero discusses the depreciation graffiti art experience in the art world as well as in the
socio political environment. Since graffiti continues to stay on the borderline of vandalism a crime
and an art form, he wishes to change the perception of graffiti... Show more content on

The author mentions Banksy as a key example of political graffiti art. The case in Brazil is
mentioned where they legalize the acts of graffiti as long as it is off the historical buildings as an
example of positive changes that happened. Though the author advocates for a change in the
attitude of graffiti art, he acknowledges the necessary legal boundaries.
Graffiti art is difficult for me. Although I appreciate the products, and it s ability to bring up
difficult conversations in areas where conversations are not normally initiated (ruins, suburbs,
low income areas), the thought that it is illegal still lingers in the back of my head. I should not
reject the illegal aspect of this art since anarchism is deeply embodied in the spirit of graffiti art
but it is difficult to do so. The law exists to protect people and their private properties, and an
individual s private asset should not be violated for public goods. If an individual does not want
to be involved in a dialogue the graffiti art provides, the artist should not violate their space and
force their artwork on private properties. Protecting graffiti from the law is problematic as it deals
with the issue of censorship. We may wish to be exposed to all kinds of information, and

  • 2. Woodland Middle School Observation Starting my opening school experience I was nervous. I could not eat or sleep the day before. I woke up bright and early to arrive at Woodland Middle School by 7:30am only to find out the school did not open up till 8:30am. I was not upset that I got there so early, and in fact, it was a great because I got a chance to get familiar with the school and its principal, Dr. J. Stamper. Woodland Middle schoolis located behind Camp Creek and is on Stone Rd. Their colors are blue and gold. The mascots of the school are the Wolverines. Woodland s mission statement: Woodland Middle School is on the P.R.O.W.L. I am a Problem Solver Recognizing Opportunities, and I am Willing to become a Life Long Learner. (Woodland, 2015) During the first day meeting Dr. Stamper introduced me to all the teachers at the school. During this brief meeting I learned that Woodland is a focus school. A focus school is the school s bottom 25% is to low from the state average; the gap between the state average and the bottom 25 % is not progressing fast enough in the achievement zone. The achievement zone was designed from a group of schools in the district that did not meet target goals set for Fulton county school based on Georgia Department of Education. Theses ... From what I learned the facility is fairly new and is located in downtown Oklahoma City. The center treats adults only and has a 16 bed locked co ed unit which will serve as inpatient treatment, as well as an emergency unit which can keep their patients for up to 24 hours. The Crisis Center helps people in mental illness crises and drug /substance abuse. There are a couple different types of detox that they use for their patients who are coming off of drugs. They usually use a step down method, in which a nurse would slowly taper the patient off of the abused substance, as well as situational detox. This type is mainly for... In 2011 I was an involuntary patient at the Oklahoma County Crisis Intervention Center. I stayed a little over a week after a failed suicide attempt. I was the only woman in the unit who was a suicide attempt, and there was only one other man. There were probably 20+ other people who were detoxing from different drugs and substances. I had no knowledge of drug abuse so coming in still drunk and drugged up from the attempt was quite scary, especially because I was the youngest patient they had in the adult unit. The other male suicide attempt was about my age and the only other person that I could relate to at that time, and he would eventually become my boyfriend just a few weeks after we both were discharged. I also got to talk to a lot of other addicts. There was a PCP user, quite a few opioid abusers, and a couple of heroin addicts. I learned a lot about these drugs which I was clueless about before, and it helped me understand what these people were thinking. Being a former patient of the facility will definitely help me in my career field to understand those who are going through crises. A recent study had shown that 62% of bankruptcies are caused from high medical bills. Meaning that our healthcare is expensive thus, not everyone can afford coverage. Since Canada has a higher life expectancy than America it is thought that Canada s healthcare plan is better. Dr. Krell reports the disparity of life expectancy may be due to good healthcare. This study helps us come to a conclusion how healthcare can play a big factor in life expectancy. • 9. The Role Of Dance Therapy For The Lgbt Community Essay I earned my Bachelor s in Neuroscience from Centenary College of Louisiana, where I graduated with departmental honors. While in college, I co founded a nonprofit that aimed to provide support for the transgender community, especially those who were homeless veterans. I led workshops at medical schools to teach future doctors how to provide comprehensive care to the LGBT community. Through this grassroots community organizing, I realized current approaches to medicine and research focus on genderin binary ways that leave out transgenderpopulations. These experiences sparked my passion in biocultural anthropology and holistic human health. My interest in human biology began when I worked as a part of a team that investigated dance therapy as a form of treatment for the symptoms of Parkinson s disease. I conducted interviews in which participants completed quality of life assessments. I learned about the significance of combining subjective and objective measures of stress. The main findings were that after months of therapy, patients showed slight improvement in tremor and gait as well as positive emotional life assessments. As a team member, I collected data and presented research at the Society for Neuroscience. Most research on Parkinson s focuses on cellular mechanisms in brain functioning instead of treating symptoms as a product of environment. In order to apply this framework to marginalized populations in my research, I had to learn how to successfully engage in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Major Issues Confronting FPL in 1994 In spite of a favorable position rating, FPL cannot ignore the deregulation movements threatening their current business landscape. The most important issues facing FPL in May 1994 are potential competition resulting from industry deregulation and their high payout ratio. 1) Retail Wheeling The threat of retail wheeling within FPL s market forces management to consider whether or not they can maintain high payout ratios. Retail wheeling is reshaping the utilities industry and if enacted in Florida, it will bring grave challenges to the future of FPL. 2) Low Capacity Margin FPL must prepare for increased competition from the establishment of retail wheeling and other forms of distribution deregulation. FPL is an old firm which is running at roughly 92% capacity. Their low capacity margin (8.6%) suggests that they have less room for growth compared to their competitors. FPL must work to foster growth in order to survive in an evolving industry. 3) Transmission Power Costs FPL carries a transmission cost of nearly double the industry average. • 14. Comparing Beowulf, The Wanderer, And The 13th Warrior Ty DeJames Mr. Neely 4 17 15 One common question in literature that always reappears is What is an epic hero? Or better yet an epic hero in Anglo Saxon culture. I believe there is more to being a hero than just being strong or intelligent. An epic hero in my eyes is oneself who comes to portray the beliefs of the society in which the tale/story is depicted. A few great examples of the Anglo Saxon epic heroare the literary characters in Beowulf, The Wanderer, and The 13th Warrior. These are all outstanding examples of Anglo Saxon epic heroes because they all came to show the evident characteristics bravery, loyalty, friendship. In the Anglo Saxon culture and literature, the meaning of to be a hero was to be a warrior and or a strong being. A hero also had to possess the vast characteristics of being strong, intelligent, and courageous. All warriors of Anglo Saxon culture and literature, had to be willing to face any odds and be willing to be the underdog that chases success. Also they had to fight to the death for their glory and accept their each individual fates. The typical Anglo Saxon hero was always able to be all of these and still be humble and very down to earth. Out of all literature Beowulf is, arguably, the best example one can use of an Anglo Saxon hero. But, in The 13th Warrior, Ibn Fadlan (played by Antonio Banderas) similar to Beowulf, also shows many of the characteristics that come to show the qualities one needs to possess to become an Anglo Saxon ... • 16. Fallacies Examples According to the text, The Power of Critical Thinking, by Louis Vaughn, a fallacy is defined as, An argument form that is both common and defective; a recurring mistake in reasoning (Vaughn, 561). Fallacies can be found in many places whether it is in the media, the workplace, or around your peers. Some fallacies contain the truth while others at a time can be false or misleading. It is essential to be able to identify fallacies because they can be used in many ways, some good some bad. Fallacies are used every day, whether it is to influence someone s opinion to agree with one side of an argumentrather than the other or to draw in others by appealing to their emotions or authority. Today, I will be discussing three important fallacies and give examples of each. These fallacies include Genetic Fallacy, Ad Hominem, and Appeal to Tradition. As stated by Vaughn, a Genetic Fallacy is the fallacy of arguing that a claim is true or false solely because of its abstract or nonhuman origins (Vaughn, 561). Instead of looking into what someone is actually implying is valid, the source gets attacked. It does not matter whether it is an organization or a single person their reasoning is being invalidated simply because of their origin. What is being argued is skipped and just one look is taken at the source and they are told they are wrong. For example, in school, you were taught that five plus five equals ten but at home, you were taught that five plus five equals twenty five. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Peace As A Concept Of The Fundamental Problems Faced By... Peace as a concept is seen through the lens of the fundamental problems faced by the world today: war, armed conflict and political violence. By insinuation, peace itself is understood predominantly as a negative concept, or as the absence of these phenomena (Atack, 2009). Martin Luther King said that True peace is not merely the absence of some negative force tension, confusion or war; it is the presence of some positive force justice, good will and brotherhood (King, 1957). Indeed, peace should focus on the positive social and political phenomena such as integrity, equality and wellbeing. In order to create a peaceful world, humans have to strive for positive peace, a condition brought about by establishing standards of justice, human rights, and sustainable development in beloved communities (Harris, 1996, p. 386). Gandhiji too described his ideas of peace with a focus on the positive, according to him peace includes: (i) Peace implies the capacity to live together in harmony. (ii) The creation of non violent social systems, i.e., a society free from structural violence. (iii) The absence of exploitation and injustice of every kind. • 19. Malcolm X, A Civil Right Activist And Powerful Black Leader In the influential and provoking essay Learning to Read (1965), Malcolm X, a civil right activist and powerful black leader, narrates his story on how books transformed his life forever into the realm of human rights. Incorporating sequential narrative and social analysis, he explains his methodology in attaining literacy and how this process influences him to espouse black separatism and resent white people, while providing historical fact and jarring criticism in his arguments. Using first person narrative, Malcom advances through the story by pointing each progression in detail, while using provocative diction in order to evoke emotional response without forsaking essential argumentation in his writing. Malcolm conveys his writing to an ostensibly general audience, although he purposely focuses more on white people in order to unleash his anger and criticism. Malcolm begins his auto biography in his frustration of not being able to express his thought and even calls himself [dysfunctional] (Malcolm 2) to demonstrate his initial helpless condition. To make it worse, as if to appeal to the reader s pathos, he was situated inside a prison. In his helplessness, he reveals his innocent motivation of how he starts to attain literacy; by mere jealousy to another people. He describes his own effort in an exciting tone, exhausting every inch of the dictionary by copying it. He describes his dictionary as a miniature encyclopedia which allows him to understand the book s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unlawfully killing someone and having no reason of killing him/her is murder, there just isn t any argument for it. In Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl, Mary Maloney is a housewife married to Patrick Maloney in the 1950s. He tells her something she doesn t want to hear, more than likely it s a divorce, and she still decides to cook dinner for him. She takes a frozen leg lamb they were going to eat that night and hits him over the head with it. Cold blood murderer, that it was she is. Mary Maloney is a conniving criminal and aware of and responsible for her actions due to her ability to manipulate others through her actions. This makes her guilty of her conviction. Mary Maloney is guilty because of her manipulation to others, she acted like she was panicking about his death, and at the end, she had a devilish laugh because she knew she got away with murder. To start off telling why she is a murderer, she is able to manipulate others through her words and her actions. Manipulation is something that someone needs to be able to get away with others. If someone can get them to believe him or her, then that person can say whatever that person wants them to hear. This is exactly what Mary Maloney did to the police. Examples Of Sexual Repression In Cat On A Hot Tin Roof Sexual repression in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof Sexual repression is a psychological disorder where people cannot admit their sexuality to others because they feel ashamed about it. Suppressing these intense feelings can lead to emotional stress. Some will even feel the need to abuse substances as a coping mechanism. The consequences of repressed sexualityare explored in the playCat on a Hot Tin Roof, where author Tennessee Williams looks at homosexualityand alcoholism, two issues he faced during his lifetime. Brick has difficulty accepting the fact that he might be gay and, as such, does not open up about his feelings. In one scene in the play, Maggie tries to get Brick to talk about the memory of his friend, Skipper, but he just replies by pouring himself a drink. She clearly tries to facilitate Brick s opening up to her about his feelings but he simply turns to alcohol as the constant cure to his problems. Brick, as well as many repressed homosexuals, suffer from alcoholism as a consequence to repression (Sutton). Maggie does not approach Brick s sexuality in a sympathetic way. She says, in reference to Skipper, You two had something that had to be kept on ice, yes, incorruptible, yes! (Williams 44). • 25. Moral Justice In Measure For Measure, By William Shakespeare Measure for Measure is a play by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written in 1603 or 1604. Originally published in the First Folio of 1623, where it was listed as a comedy. The play s first recorded performance occurred in 1604. The play s main themes include justice, mortality and mercy in Vienna, and the dichotomy between corruption and purity: some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall. Mercy and virtue prevail, as the play does not end tragically, with virtues such as compassion and forgiveness being exercised at the end of the production. While the play focuses on justice overall, the final scene illustrates that Shakespeare intended for moral justice to temper strict civil justice: a number of the characters receive understanding and leniency, instead of the harsh punishment to which they, according to the law, could have been sentenced. Measure for Measureis often called one of Shakespeare s problem plays. It was, and continues to be, classified as comedy, though its tone may defy those expectations. The theme of Measure for Measure is the temperance of justice with mercy. Merciful justice is juxtaposed throughout with strict enforcement of the law. The duke, Isabella, Escalus, Mariana, and the Provost all advocate mercy. Only Angelo demands strict adherence to the law, even to recommending his own execution when his deeds are discovered. Samsung Galaxy Essay Of all of the possible answers to the question of why Apple fans are willing to pay so much, the most intuitive one would be to say that Apple products are simply better than the rest. This may have indeed been the case for many of Apple s older products. The iPhone, as many remember, was revolutionary at the time, owning around 30% of the US market share a little over a year after its release (Elmer Dewitt 2008). Similarly, the iPad was far bigger than any of its rival tablets for years. This, however, may not be the case anymore. RFID system is made up of a unique identification number, which is allocated to a specific item, an identity tag which is attached to the item with a chip capable of storing a unique identification number, networked RFID readers and data processing systems that are capable of collecting signals from multiple tags at high speeds and of pre processing this data, and one or more networked databases that store the product information RFID is a wireless technology, which allows transmission of information without the physical connection. In its most basic form, an RFID system has two components: tags and readers. A tag (transponder) consists of a microchip that stores identification data of the item to which it is attached and an antenna to transmit this data via radio waves. A reader (interrogator) sends out a radio signal and prompts the tag to broadcast the data contained on its chip. The reader then converts the radio waves returned from the tag into digital data and forwards them to a computer system. A reader can scan an area for any tags that are tuned to the same frequency as the reader. The frequency on which the RFID system operates designates the intensity of the radio waves used to transmit information and is a key factor in determining performance levels and applications for the system. Problems In The Movie Zootopia Most disney movies deal with love and the causal happy ever after motto that does not correspond to an average person s everyday life. However, the animated film Zootopia contradicts the fantasy world that Disney movies tend to portray a variety of times.Disney s featured film illustrates international problems going on in today s society, and no matter what age, race, gender or religion one is, people tend to get generalized or stereotyped at least once in their lifetime. The younger generation should start to consider real world problems that go on throughout the world, like in the movie Zootopia for example, the movie targets problems specifically dealing with stereotyping, racism, and diversity,in order to show how society is changing at a fast pace, and that people should adapt to the new set of standards that are forthcoming as the years have progressed, due to the fact that, certain actions may affect an individual. Today the world deals with numerous amounts of problems, that get recognized once in awhile. However, in order for history to not repeat itself, the younger generation must start acknowledging dilemmas that occur worldwide. A perfect example that can lead children to identify those kinds of problems in by simply watching the movie Zootopia, in which it deals with problems that address stereotypes ,focuses on generalizations and its effects, and shows how sometimes people are biased towards specific minorities.Observing the film one might catch coded language that is used to describe certain minority groups, for example,African Americans.Antrum argues that, Terms such as savage and biologically predisposed are terms used to describe black peoplein the real world (Antrum.)In the movie they do not not address race in specific, but they do instead use terms such as predator to fit the kid friendly theme. The movie intended for young kids is saying how black people get called certain names all the time and that they are victims of racial slurs perpetually. Other people are supposed to be scared by them since they are generalized on all the time and the movie illustrates this throughout the film. While watching the film the city looks like a perfect place to live with no problems arsing, nevertheless, ... This is where Salinger landed during D day. He also was among the first soldiers to enter the newly liberated concentration camp at Dachau, Germany, witnessing firsthand the horrors of the Holocaust. Utah beach is an obviously connotation to the beach at the resort in his story. Now moving to his memory of being in the concentration camps. J.D. Salinger was in line with many children in the camps, which leads me to notice how in the beach scene in the story he is with a child, known as Sybil. Honor is Love in Chronicle of a Death Foretold In Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, honor is a very prominent theme in the town and its culture. The need for honor influences many actions taken by individuals and traditions that characters strictly follow. As the narrator s mother states, honor is love. The reader sees this statement supported throughout the story through beliefs and actions of the Vicario twins, Angela s mother, and the townspeople as a whole. Honor is such a guiding force in the small community that it almost replaces what love should be. Pura Vicario, Angela s mother, for example, values honor more than she values true family cherishing and love. Angela s twin brothers have high respect for their own family honor, and they strive to uphold it by showing their love for their sister in hunting Santiago to retrieve her honor. The townspeople display their devotion to honor as they do not attempt to stop Santiago Nasar s death. The qualified statement honor is love applies to the novelin actions by the twins, Angela s mother, and the townspeople, and how their desperation to defend honor controls them. Although I appreciate the products, and it s ability to bring up difficult conversations in areas where conversations are not normally initiated (ruins, suburbs, low income areas), the thought that it is illegal still lingers in the back of my head. I should not reject the illegal aspect of this art since anarchism is deeply embodied in the spirit of graffiti art but it is difficult to do so. The law exists to protect people and their private properties, and an individual s private asset should not be violated for public goods. If an individual does not want to be involved in a dialogue the graffiti art provides, the artist should not violate their space and force their artwork on private properties.
