Remote sensing involves several key stages: 1) emission of electromagnetic radiation from a source, 2) transmission of energy from the source to an object where it interacts and is reflected, 3) transmission of energy from the object to a sensor which records the energy, and 4) processing and analysis of the recorded data into a usable image or information about the object.
