Analysis Of Red Sorghum
Red Sorghum, is a novel that was published in 1986 written by Mo Yan. It was Yan s first novel.
Lyrical, colorful, and disturbing, Red Sorghum is a powerful novel that takes place during one of the
darkest periods of Chinese history, which is the Japanese invasion of the 1930 s. With that being said,
within this novel Mo Yan does not shy away from graphic accounts of mercilessness and death. Mo
Yan, is an exceptionally talented story teller who cherishes portraying life in vivid and clear contrasts.
The novel is composed of the chapters: Red Sorghum, Sorghum Wine, Dog Ways, Sorghum Funeral,
and Strange Death. This 4 chapter novel traverses 40 years throughout rural China utilizing flashbacks
and anticipating, starting with the Japanese attack in the 1930s. Sorghum which is utilized as food and
as an ingredient of a powerful wine, had been the concentration and representation of peasant life
during the time where war was not in affect. In wartime, it moves toward becoming intertwined with
the struggle for life. Death permeates this novel, death severely prevalent with Japanese troops, by
factions within China, by crazed dog and death from things such as suicide and starvation. Red
Sorghum is a multi generational story of a family in Shandong. The narrator recounts the story of his
family s troubles and hardships which ranges from distillery workers creating sorghum wine to battles
amid the Sino Japanese War. Yan shy s away from chronology within the story, instead, he lets

Home and Community Development
Have you ever arrived home from a long day at work and just wanted to go inside and relax? Who am
I kidding of course you have! Then as you walk through the doorway you know something is wrong,
you look around and realize there will be absolutely no relaxing tonight. The new puppy dog your
family just had to have has destroyed your carpet, or maybe you wake in the middle of the night to
several inches of water inside your house. Whatever the situation is, almost all of us have had to get
new carpet fast.
The words that usually run through peoples heads first are oh no. The second words are usually what
am I going to do? The answer is simple give Vickrey carpet laying a call. We will take care of
everything!
Ok, before I get to far, let me explain what has gotten me involved in carpet. There was always an
interest for me, transforming a barren room into something seemingly completely different in a matter
of days. However the thing that actually prodded me into getting a job at Vickrey Carpet laying was he
lure of learning a trade. I knew I wanted to make money but, laying carpet I would learn a trade, a
specialty if you will that I could always fall back on.
I thought that all I was going to learn was the trade. Oh, how wrong could I have been! I have learned
countless lessons as well as the value of an honest days work. I guarantee that it will never cease to
surprise you what a job that will teach you especially for a young person. This has helped me

Why Is Louise Brooks Important In The 1920s
The Roaring Twenties fostered a split between America s past and future. Prior to World War I,
America remained rooted in the conservative nature of the nineteenth century. After the war ended,
Americans broke away from their traditional habits and intellection as they transitioned into a modern
era. The rapid social and economic change influenced innovation that caused people s morals to
deviate from their upbringing. Many people began to take bold moves that later influenced a decade
full of cultural advancement and prosperity. Among the many influential figures of the 1920s, Louise
Brooks became an icon of the decade. Brooks developed her fame as soon as she began her career, and
her personality stood out among other women, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To support herself, Brooks opened a dance studio, and wrote books. At 78 years of age Brooks died
from a heart attack on August 8, 1985. While Brooks built a name for herself in the film industry, she
was also famous for her distinct personality.
Brooks became famous for popularizing the bobbed haircut while her daring personality differentiated
her from other females. Her unique persona and her sleek dark bob initiated her reputation for being
one of the wildest flappers of the decade. Though she became well known for starring as the lead in
three films, unlike most women, she refused to accept the sexual and restrictives roles women had in
America. She embraced the opportunity to go beyond society s conformities in the Roaring Twenties
because culture shifted and there was less social pressure to dress modestly. Harnessing this
opportunity, Brooks experimented with her fashion sense having worn pleated skirts, wide trousers,
velvet blazers, deep cut evening dresses worn without a bra, furs, silk blouses with geometric prints
and strings of pearls (Young). While others may have perceived her bold fashion to be vulgar, she also
was famous for her short hair. Brooks bob was one aspect of herself that represented her courage push
the limits. At the time most women grew their hair out, but as more females kept up with their fast
paced lives the bob hair style popularized as less time was

IDENTIFYING VENTURE OPPORTUNITIES
I never perfected an invention that I did not think about in terms of the service it might give others... I
find out what the world needs, then I proceed to invent.
Thomas Edison
INTRODUCTION
One of the biggest questions on every hopeful entrepreneur s mind is, ―how do I come up with a
compelling idea for a new venture?‖ While there is no right or wrong answer to this question, there are
several things to be aware of and thinking about as one heads down the entrepreneurial path. Even if a
great idea has already come to mind, it is essential to cover the basics the market, product/service
offering, competitive, economic, and team dynamics to determine if the ... Show more content on

Howard Schultz s inspiration for Starbucks came to him when he was on vacation in Italy and admired
the ―café culture‖ there that had not yet taken root in the US.
Another valuable exercise is to reflect on experiences (particularly frustrating ones) as a retail or
industrial consumer. Entrepreneurial ideas can be the result of simply being an irritated consumer
looking for a better solution, where ―in solving their own needs, they often find they satisfy the latent
demands of a broader group of users.‖3 Recall the origins of Nike Phil Knight and his track coach Bill
Bowerman were dissatisfied with the footwear available for longdistance runners, so they started their
own footwear company using Bowerman s waffle maker to produce the rubber soles.
Never underestimate the importance and relevance of contextual knowledge. Many successful
entrepreneurs have found their ideas by reading different newspapers and economic and technical
publications in order to keep abreast of trends and events taking place around the world. One
incredible advantage that students have is the access to resources available at colleges and universities.

Realms of Earth
Reading Material: Realms of the Earth
Astro physicists and scientists believe that there could be quite a few planets in the Universe similar to
our planet
Earth. There is also a probable chance that some form of life prevails and sustains in one of such
planet.
However, so far as we presently know, the Earth is the only planet which supports life which makes it
a very unique planet. It is therefore imperative (very important and necessary) for us to understand the
spheres of the Earth as the spheres play a crucial role to enable life forms to evolve, prevail and
sustain.
The three main components of the Earth are water, air and soil. They are not only in contact with each
other but are also interactive and interdependent. Life exists only ... Show more content on

The external forces lead to wearing away and rebuilding of the Earth s surface.
The agents of erosion physically change the Earth s surface by eroding (wearing away) land surfaces,
transporting the eroded material and depositing the weathered soil, sand and debris at other places. For
example, rain, wind and rivers erode the mountains and highlands, the eroded particles are carried and
deposited further down to form plains.
Types of landforms
MOUNTAINS
A mountain is a natural elevation of the Earth s surface rising high above its surrounding. Mountains
have narrow summits and broad bases. Mountains are found both on land and on the ocean floor. They
are of different types. Some of them are very high and some relatively short. Some have pointed
peaks, while some have rounded tops. Some have steep slopes and some have gentle slopes. The
higher reaches of the mountains can be very cold. The higher the altitude, the lower will be the
temperature.
Fold Mountains
Fold Mountains are formed by the upward movement and folding of land masses due to lateral
compression caused by tectonic or internal forces. When two plates move towards each other, the
place of convergence of the two plates gets compressed. The crust along the edge gets crumpled or
folded. Massive layers of the Earth s crust get uplifted as a result of these converging forces, resulting
in the formation of Fold Mountains.
The Himalayas and the Alps were formed in the same way in the

Acquisition Process Analysis
The acquisition process is a vital component of project management. The requirements to ensure
successful execution of a project must be logical and efficient. It requires rigorous planning and
constant improvement of the project plan in order to discover and address any potential issues that
may interrupt the final delivery. Applying proven acquisition processes and principles will aid Project
Managers in creating an environment for success. The level of detail needed during the refining
activity is contingent upon several factors, such as the size and complexity of the project, the proposed
timeframe and the risks associated with the project (Career Education Corporation, 2013). My project
proposal is the development of software that can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The decision to choose a product or service from an external supplier or vendor is referred to as
outsourcing. The decision to outsource a product or service is a significant one, and the Project
Manager must take into consideration additional costs, changes to schedule, deliverables, and value.
Furthermore, there are also other decision making factors, such as the need for control over the
quality, proprietary technology, time constraints, and lack of expertise or limited capabilities of the
external supplier (Project Management Institute, 2013). From a financial and scheduling standpoint,
the decision is straightforward, as the success of the project is dependent on resources available
through outsourcing. Since the project is dependent on an outside entity, the Project Manager must
follow prudent measures to control the process. The first step in controlling the process is to determine
the appropriate acquisition process. One reliable process is known as Performance Based Acquisition
(PBA). Performance Based Acquisition (PBA) is a results oriented contracting method that focuses on
outputs, and is written so that payment or contract extension is based on measurable performance. The
main benefit of using PBA is to minimize costs, while improving vendor performance (NIGP, 2012). It
is paramount that diligent research and evaluation methods are used to ensure that the best available

Midsummer Night s Dream Supernatural
The rule of law, supernatural, and commoners in a chaos.
A Midsummer Night s Dream is a comedy play unfolding in three juxtaposed settings. It shows the
events related to the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus and Hyppolita including adventures of
four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur commoners/actors who are manipulated by
fairies and their supernatural tricks. The author of this play is William Shakespeare.
The three settings of the play are the forest, the Dukes Palace, and the Quince s cottage. All the
mysterious and magical events take place in the forest. It is full of emotions and feelings. In contrast
with the forest, things happening in the palace and the characters seem to be guardians of the law and
order. The Quince s cottage is full of humor and jokes and represents a lower class society in contrast
to the Duke s palace.

It contains plain jokes and silly humor. It s sarcastic that Quince being an ordinary carpenter is also the
director of the mini play the commoners are preparing for the wedding. Not only he is willing to direct
the play also does he think he can perform all the roles better than anyone else. Quite infantile is also
the idea of trying to explain to the audience the meaning of the play as they act.
The significance for each setting in this story is different. In the Duke s palace there is law and order,
in the forest it is the supernatural, and in Quince s cottage it is humor and jokes.
The three settings of this play are a good to portray the life and the various layers of society:the Palace
ruled by the logic of law, the forest mysterious and supernatural, and the common place Quince s
cottage. These settings greatly facilitate the plot combining the magic with reality, natural versus
supernatural, and rational versus irrational bringing harmony to the

Myth Of Zachariah
The Myth of Zachariah
There once was a young man named Zachariah Kellerhoff. A rather skinny, small, and weak young
man that has never been athletic or paid attention to. Always in the dark or in the corner with no
friends and avoided by almost everyone, except for his mother. His mother cared for him in all ways.
They lived together in a tribe full of great warriors. The tribe s name, The Comanche. Zachariah was
obviously an outcast, but a skilled one. Every open time he had he was shooting his bow or throwing
his javelin. He became very skilled at archery and javelin while everyone else worked with swords,
horses, or slingshots.

The Things That Makes One Tick
In other words, what are the things that makes one tick? That brings us to choose certain paths, even if
the underlying truth of these paths hasn t been recognized. The things that makes us ticks can be
thought of mistakes. A professor of psychology and behavioral economics, Dan Ariely, studied this
issue up close. Through his book, Predictably Irrational, these mistakes are both explained and
contextualized as human error. Something that all of us do on a daily basis without any recognition.
And even when we recognize our misconceptions, we still have a tendency to do it again. While
reading Predictably Irrational, I came across several personal . Things like, procrastination and
overvaluing materialistic things are two of many misconceptions I have been aberrant to. We, humans,
have a tendency to be aberrant, walking out of reasonable paths and into irrational ones. Ariely
thoroughly explains how emotions dictate behaviors and decisions we make. Us procrastinators,
acknowledge that we do infact procrastinate. The real problem is how we act, knowing we have
tendencies to procrastinate. Emotions rush through our veins and speaks louder then our
consciousness. As Ariely explained, we are in the cool state when we are making promises such as,
spending less or exercising more with a diet. But as soon as we spot materialistic things, our emotions
come rush in bringing us to the hot state. When we ignore our long term goals for the immediate
fulfilment, we are in fact

Compare And Contrast Fargo And No Country For Old Men
The auteur theory is best described as a director taking the role of author. Auteur comes from a French
word, meaning author or originator. Just as a reader can detect patterns in written works of the same
author, viewers can detect patterns in films directed by the same director(s), if they re auteurists. They
control as many aspects of the film as they can in order to fully embed it with their vision. The Coen
brothers do just that; they, down to the writing of the script, work to control many of the elements of
their films. The patterns and style, though with slight alterations with time, carry over in their many
works. Fargo (1996) and No Country for Old Men (2007), though almost ten years apart, still adhere
quite strongly to the same patterns and style typical of the Coen brothers. In watching these films back
to back, the similarities are much more apparent, but are definitely not discreet enough to go
unnoticed if watched ten years apart. Both Fargo and No Country for Old Men exhibit main
characters, depicted as the average Joe, who are wound up into a complex scheme of murder and
mayhem. They both, however, don t initially appear to be too complicated. In Fargo, the audience is
presented with a nervous and stuttering car salesman who seems to be in over his head with debt. He
concocts what seems to be an easy ploy of the mock kidnapping of his wife to get some fast cash off
of his father in law. What Jerry doesn t account for is the long string of murders that

Marginalism Of John Bates Clark
Quiz 1 Do you agree or disagree with the analysis states below I disagree with the analysis that state
the irrationality of Marginalism of John Bates Clark. Clark was a neoclassical economist who was
denying the pro of capitalist but later shift to support it. Clarke s analysis on his opposition to the
Marginalism theory have three main arguments; people must take society into account, we cannot
calculate everything, and we don t know the value of everything so we can t calculate the value of
everything. Clarke s view on the Marginalist theory is that it basis upon formal rationality and purely
technical meaning that Marginalist presumably that people are rational and self interest and will

Clarke argue that this assumption of Marginalist is wrong, because human is social animal, when
people are placed in the society we tend to have difference decisions from living alone we are
influenced by others. So Clarke stated that people must take society into account, we need to care
about the society. My rebuttal on Clark s argument is that Clark is a one eye economist, he only
looked in what s the theory has said but he didn t look into how its imply. Clarke look into the theory
and he imply that the people s utility (happiness) is society this concept of society is the happiness of
people is only from Clarke s calculation not the society . In reality, what s the theory implied is that
whatever a person value as his own happiness, he has already taken into his account his value may not

Texas Voter Turnout Analysis
Voter Turnout is a Turn Off Texas ranks as a relatively poor state, which directly relates to the trouble
with voter turnout. The history of voting started primarily in 1787 with the development and
implementation of the suffrage or right to vote (Newell et al. 139). This also led to states developing
qualifications for who could vote which initiated low voter turnout. Texas experiences an unduly low
voter turnout due to the history of prior restrictions in minorities.
America takes great pride in the fact that its citizens are able to vote for its leaders. Voter turnout is
measured by total number of voters who cast their votes over the total number of registered voters.

If there were less elections open to the public, maybe voters would take their rights more seriously.
This is not to hinder our democracy, but rather develop it. By leaving the decisions to more house and
senate members, this will still keep intact representative government and democracy in America, but
also help the voter turnout to increase. There are so many elections going on within the voter s own
state that they simply take the right to vote as a common thing instead of a luxury. In many countries
voting is required to obtain a driver s license thus making it more of a priority for citizens to vote.
America should consider require voting by all eligible citizens not registered. Registration is a lengthy
process which should ultimately not be required which would open the polls up to anyone of the age
eighteen, not only to those registered. Subsequently, many people do not vote because of the lack of
availability as most elections are held on work days. Therefore, making voting easier by having it held

A Study Of Millennials Methods Of Movie Consumption
It has been apparent that in the past few years, the number of people attending movie theaters has
continued to decrease (MPAA, 2014; Harris Poll, 2014.) With various digital streaming sites like
Netflix continuing to increase in consumption, (Kuittinen, 2015) people have become less motivated
to go to movie theaters because of the feasibility and convenience of watching movies on various
devices (Kuittinen, 2015.) According to the MPAA s Theatrical Market Statistics 2014, there was a
significant decrease in the number of movie tickets sold, by 6% (MPAA, 2014.) with only 1.26 billion

1. Why is it important to study cognitive aging?
Its paramount to study cognitive aging because the term has been described for physical aging, but it
is still not well understood. The cognitive functions can affect a person s quality of life, and even the
ability to live independently. Cognitive aging in early adulthood may be cognate to the development
of pathologies such as Alzheimer s disease in later adulthood.
2. When do age related differences begin to appear? When do age related effects become apparent to
most adults?
When it comes to age related differences it appears to begin during the early stage of adulthood when
a person is in their 20s. During age related effects, its apparent before at the age of 50. For some
variables, there may be an acceleration of the influences at older ages, but age related differences are
evident in early adulthood for each variable.

Brutality in Algeria Essay
In Algeria, an African country, there is a civil war raging. The radicles are ruthless and will do
anything to ensure their victory. Their ultimate goal is to take over the country, to rule it on their own
(Hafez). They were ruthless and heartless and did not care who got in their way. This country has been
struggling to maintain civilization to no prevail. This country has been struggling for quite some time
now it is about time for it to pull itself back together and regroup. If it does not the results could
possibly be catastrophic. The country could fall to the radicles and become a total anarchy. Meaning

This indicated that the radicles were afraid of smart women. Being smart is to be powerful and that is
the opposite of what these terrorist wanted. One woman was speaking out against women being
treated differently and her father was killed that way she had to suffer. Life for women is rough in
Algeria due to them being in this war with the radicle Islamics. The women are much weaker than the
men therefore they believe that women cannot do the same thing that they do, which is where most of
the sexism comes from.During the war women played parts in mostly helping out the troops, also
another reason they were targeted. Women are equal to men regardless of what is said. Most countries
are past this chapter in history and women are not totally equal, but a lot closer than this one. The
women are beaten for not complying with request. Forced to be sex slaves to the radicles they are

these crimes. After their capture the radicles work them like dogs doing whatever they ask and when
they are done they either release them or kill them depending on how well they complied. Sometimes
the radicles did not even give the women a chance they simply killed them out of cold blood, just
because they could. The sexism was so bad that some men wouldn t let their wives go outside for fear
of them being snatched up and killed. Along with sexism in Algeria the government is not

Health And Behavior Change Analysis
The local, state and national, government has many roles and responsibilities in health and behavior
change (Altman, 2001). An effective public health system that can assure the nation s health requires
the collaborative efforts of a complex network of people and organizations in the public and private
sectors, as well as an alignment of policy and practice of governmental public health agencies at the
national, state, and local levels.
In the United States, governments at all levels federal, state, and local have a specific responsibility to

Many blockbuster trade rumors are being speculated the past few months. Rumors that include
superstar and marquee players on a well known team. Although most of them didn t happen but still
gossip on trades will never stop until it satisfies the fans.
On recent trade rumors, one veteran big man is likely going to leave his first home. Brook Lopez is an
eight year veteran player who was the 10th overall pick by the New Jersey Nets (now Brooklyn Nets)
in the 2008 NBA draft. He has a twin brother Robin Lopez who was just recently traded to the New
York Knicks to the Chicago Bulls this offseason. And now, the same fate might happen to Brook.
According to Parent Herald, the Nets will send Lopez to Chicago Bulls and in return, they will get
Nikola Mirotic, Denzel Valentine, and Bobby Portis as part of the agreement. It was also hinted that
the trade deal is already set and just waiting for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

On an earlier report by YIBADA English, there is three trade scenario for Brook Lopez. First, with the
Chicago Bulls which we ve already tackled. Second with the Milwaukee Bucks. Trade scenario is
suggesting to send Lopez to the Bucks in exchange for Greg Monroe and Michael Carter Williams.
And lastly with the Boston Celtics. The Celtics must give up future draft picks, Terry Rozier or James
Young, and Amir Johnson to acquire Lopez.
Many say that the trade scenario to the Chicago Bulls is more feasible than the others as it would
likely place Lopez on a more contender team and will be utilized more. Will Brook Lopez fit in the
Bulls system once the trade pushes thru? Will his transfer to Bulls will established him as a superstar?

Elizabeth I s Reforms
The English Reformation of the sixteenth century was one of the most drastic religious reforms in
England. During this time, the Tudor Dynasty swept England from Roman Catholicism into the arms
of Protestantism. However, such a massive change did not come without strife.
The Tudor Dynasty began with King Henry VII. After defeating Richard III and ending the War of the
Roses, Henry united the warring Lancaster and York factions under the Tudor Rose. Henry and his
wife Elizabeth had four children: Arthur, Margaret, Henry, and Mary. After Henry VII s death, his
firstborn son Arthur ascended to the throne and married his betrothed, Catherine of Aragon. Mere
months after the marriage, Arthur died from illness. Henry VIII took his place and married the
widowed Catherine (History.com Staff, Henry VIII )
Catherine bore three sons and three daughters, but only her daughter Mary survived. Henry became
infuriated with his lack of a male heir and began to stray. He feared that God had cursed Catherine, as
the Old Testament forbade marrying a brother s widow. His eye landed upon a young noblewoman
named Anne Boleyn. He sought to marry her, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some Protestants saw Elizabeth I s reforms as inadequate; they called the Church halfly reformed.
They removed themselves from the Church of England and sought their own spiritual outlets, such as
Puritanism, which aimed to remove all dredges of Catholicism from the Church. The dissenting
populace was negligible, though, and England remained unified under the Protestant religion. By the
time Elizabeth s reign drew to a close, English citizens respected and loved their Church, seeing it as a
cornerstone of their identity. The significance of this Protestant identity was carried into English
culture as well: Protestant festivals replaced Catholic holidays, such as Elizabeth s day of accession,
the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, and the day England defeated the Spanish Armada

love to learn more about their child care options, and what the difference is there than it is here in the
US. The Philippines is pretty standard to the USA practices when it comes to looking for care,
nannies, babysitters, etc. They have a website called Great Au Pair, on this website they have divided
up the different child care options easy to access. This website is very accessible because they make it
simple to find exactly what you re looking for. Child care wise, they have a range of services from;
child care, nannies, au pair, and babysitters. There is also links you can choose from finding caregivers
by country, nationality, and language. This website is very similar to our country s care.com. I ve
come across many preschools in the Philippines that the list doesn t seem to end, it s very accessible as
looking for care, nannies, and etc. was. They do have many public provided care, but mostly with the
schools you can attend. It s very similar to USA practices because we also offer many public schools

arrangements which is where children are provided care at home, outside the home by either of their

Youth Baseball Narrative Essay
I first started playing youth baseball back in 2008. I had a passion for it since I was a very young boy.
I used to sit at home on my PlayStation 2 playing MLB the show. My baseball idols are Derek Jeter,
David Ortiz, Jackie Robinson, Sammy Sosa, and Alfonso Soriano. I used to play catch all the time
with my cousin Tristan. As we got older I was able to join a baseball team with Tristan, and we made
it onto the same team. The team was called Optic. What made Optic the best was our pitching, to be
honest my pitching. We were the best team in our league; we only ever lost to one team the Bulldogs.
They were the undefeated team in our league.
Down goes the pitch, moving at lighting speed! STRIKE! As the batter steps up for his second plate

flexibility with its ability to make additional tasks and changes continuously. There are also some
downsides to Kanban in project management. When projects have too many specialized workflows for
tasks it makes it hard to have consistent workflows, and Kanban doesn t always account for two or
more people working on a task. Kanban can be a valuable tool for Project Management and other Just

Symbolism in Hills Like White Elephants, by Ernest Hemingway
In a well written short story, different literary elements and terms are incorporated into the story by the
author. Ernest Hemingway frequently uses various literary elements in his writing to entice the reader
and enhance each piece that he writes. In Hills Like White Elephants, Hemingway uses symbols to
teach the reader certain things that one may encounter during daily life. Symbolism may be defined as
relating to, using, or proceeding by means of symbols (Princeton). The use of symbols in Hills Like
White Elephants is utterly important to the plot line and to the fundamental meaning of the story.
Through this use of symbolism, the reader can begin to reveal the hidden themes in this short story.

The negative connotation of a white elephant is expressed in this explanation. It is this negative
meaning that is describing the hills, or her pregnant stomach and the unborn child. Further on in their
conversation regarding the decision to be made, Jig says to the man, I know. But if I do it then it will
be nice again if I say things are like white elephants and you ll like it? (Hemingway). The girl
deliberately asks the man whether the decision of aborting the child will better their lives, or continue
moving them down the path of unhappiness. The decision that Jig is faced with ties back to the main
theme that Hemingway portrays throughout the short story, decision and indecision. The constant
uncertainty that is revealed through the girl s character is seen in other instances as well. Throughout
the story, Hemingway incorporates various themes for the reader to take away from the reading. The
relationship between the man and the girl exemplifies the theme of man and woman, as well as the
theme of decision and indecision. Hemingway depicts this relationship and life together as the train
that the couple is waiting for. According to the University of Michigan website, Train symbolism is
related to social life, destiny, journey, and fatalism ( Train ). In Hills Like White Elephants, the train
represents the journey of life, with or without the unborn child. Together, the decisions of either

Right To Bear Arms Justified
How is owning a gun justified? By the second amendment, the right to bear arms is granted to the 318
million people currently living in the United States of America. It justifies the ownership of a gun
without directly justifying it. The initial understanding of this amendment by the majority of the U.S.
is that every person (under the right circumstance) has the right to have a gun in their possession.
Although this meaning has been the inherited mindset of most ideas concerning the matter, the
controversial conflicts arising around the existence of this amendment represent the true depth of it s

President Andrew Jackson And The Indian Removal Act Of 1830
After the southern state stated that they wanted both political and military action on removing Native
American Indians off the southern states, President Andrew Jackson signed the Indian removal act of
1830. They were forced to move and concede to U.S. law or leave their homelands, which led to the
Trail of Tears. When the Indians left their homeland, they suffered a long and painful journey that they
had to endure in order to be able to reach their new home in the west which is now known as,
Oklahoma. This was caused by Land hungry americans in the 19th century that poured into the coastal
south and began moving towards the Mississippi river and Alabama. The Indian Removal act of 1830
authorized President Jackson to carry out the policy in his first message to congress. He would be able
to trade unorganized public land in the trans Mississippi west for indian land in the east. The law
required the government to negotiate removal treaties fairly and peacefully: It did not allow the
president or anyone else to coerce Native nations into giving up their land. However, President
Jackson and his government most commonly ignored the letter of the law and forced Native
Americans to vacate lands they had lived on for generations. As white settlers continued to settle
North America and push west there were numerous conflicts with native american tribes. Andrew

Gender Roles And Gender Role Stereotypes
Gender role stereotypes have a negative impact on society by media, movies, commercials, for
instance, Kylie Jenner is a perfect example in which she felt insecure about her body and facial
features to where she was under the constant scrutiny of the media comparing her features to the likes
of her sisters which are, full lips, large back side and hips and petite nose as well as arched eyebrows.
For example, youth girls are seen and reprimanded to play with Barbie dolls, babying equipment and
supplies, nursing tools and adorable plush dogs and teddy bears, on the other hand boys are seen
playing big and bad wrestlers and G.I. Joe action figures with toy guns and knives, soccer balls, basket
balls, and baseballs things that would be outlandish and unusual for girls to be seen playing with. This
also sets a bad example for teenagers and adults and makes them want to do the same because these

Lyrical, colorful, and disturbing, Red Sorghum is a powerful novel that takes place during one of the darkest periods of Chinese history, which is the Japanese invasion of the 1930 s. With that being said, within this novel Mo Yan does not shy away from graphic accounts of mercilessness and death. Mo Yan, is an exceptionally talented story teller who cherishes portraying life in vivid and clear contrasts. In wartime, it moves toward becoming intertwined with the struggle for life. Death permeates this novel, death severely prevalent with Japanese troops, by factions within China, by crazed dog and death from things such as suicide and starvation. Red Sorghum is a multi generational story of a family in Shandong. Then as you walk through the doorway you know something is wrong, you look around and realize there will be absolutely no relaxing tonight. The new puppy dog your family just had to have has destroyed your carpet, or maybe you wake in the middle of the night to several inches of water inside your house. Whatever the situation is, almost all of us have had to get new carpet fast. The words that usually run through peoples heads first are oh no. The second words are usually what am I going to do? The answer is simple give Vickrey carpet laying a call. We will take care of everything! Ok, before I get to far, let me explain what has gotten me involved in carpet. There was always an interest for me, transforming a barren room into something seemingly completely different in a matter of days. However the thing that actually prodded me into getting a job at Vickrey Carpet laying was he lure of learning a trade. I knew I wanted to make money but, laying carpet I would learn a trade, a specialty if you will that I could always fall back on. I thought that all I was going to learn was the trade. Oh, how wrong could I have been! I have learned countless lessons as well as the value of an honest days work. • 4. Why Is Louise Brooks Important In The 1920s The Roaring Twenties fostered a split between America s past and future. Prior to World War I, America remained rooted in the conservative nature of the nineteenth century. After the war ended, Americans broke away from their traditional habits and intellection as they transitioned into a modern era. The rapid social and economic change influenced innovation that caused people s morals to deviate from their upbringing. Many people began to take bold moves that later influenced a decade full of cultural advancement and prosperity. Among the many influential figures of the 1920s, Louise Brooks became an icon of the decade. Brooks developed her fame as soon as she began her career, and her personality stood out among other women, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To support herself, Brooks opened a dance studio, and wrote books. At 78 years of age Brooks died from a heart attack on August 8, 1985. While Brooks built a name for herself in the film industry, she was also famous for her distinct personality. Brooks became famous for popularizing the bobbed haircut while her daring personality differentiated her from other females. Her unique persona and her sleek dark bob initiated her reputation for being one of the wildest flappers of the decade. Though she became well known for starring as the lead in three films, unlike most women, she refused to accept the sexual and restrictives roles women had in America. She embraced the opportunity to go beyond society s conformities in the Roaring Twenties because culture shifted and there was less social pressure to dress modestly. Harnessing this opportunity, Brooks experimented with her fashion sense having worn pleated skirts, wide trousers, velvet blazers, deep cut evening dresses worn without a bra, furs, silk blouses with geometric prints and strings of pearls (Young). While others may have perceived her bold fashion to be vulgar, she also was famous for her short hair. Brooks bob was one aspect of herself that represented her courage push the limits. At the time most women grew their hair out, but as more females kept up with their fast paced lives the bob hair style popularized as less time was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Identifying Venture Opportunities CASE: E 323 DATE: 11/18/08 IDENTIFYING VENTURE OPPORTUNITIES I never perfected an invention that I did not think about in terms of the service it might give others... I find out what the world needs, then I proceed to invent. Thomas Edison INTRODUCTION One of the biggest questions on every hopeful entrepreneur s mind is, ―how do I come up with a compelling idea for a new venture?‖ While there is no right or wrong answer to this question, there are several things to be aware of and thinking about as one heads down the entrepreneurial path. Even if a great idea has already come to mind, it is essential to cover the basics the market, product/service offering, competitive, economic, and team dynamics to determine if the ... Howard Schultz s inspiration for Starbucks came to him when he was on vacation in Italy and admired the ―café culture‖ there that had not yet taken root in the US. Another valuable exercise is to reflect on experiences (particularly frustrating ones) as a retail or industrial consumer. Entrepreneurial ideas can be the result of simply being an irritated consumer looking for a better solution, where ―in solving their own needs, they often find they satisfy the latent demands of a broader group of users.‖3 Recall the origins of Nike Phil Knight and his track coach Bill Bowerman were dissatisfied with the footwear available for longdistance runners, so they started their own footwear company using Bowerman s waffle maker to produce the rubber soles. Never underestimate the importance and relevance of contextual knowledge. Many successful entrepreneurs have found their ideas by reading different newspapers and economic and technical publications in order to keep abreast of trends and events taking place around the world. There is also a probable chance that some form of life prevails and sustains in one of such planet. However, so far as we presently know, the Earth is the only planet which supports life which makes it a very unique planet. It is therefore imperative (very important and necessary) for us to understand the spheres of the Earth as the spheres play a crucial role to enable life forms to evolve, prevail and sustain. Types of landforms MOUNTAINS A mountain is a natural elevation of the Earth s surface rising high above its surrounding. Mountains have narrow summits and broad bases. Mountains are found both on land and on the ocean floor. They are of different types. Some of them are very high and some relatively short. Some have pointed peaks, while some have rounded tops. Some have steep slopes and some have gentle slopes. The higher reaches of the mountains can be very cold. The higher the altitude, the lower will be the temperature. When two plates move towards each other, the place of convergence of the two plates gets compressed. The crust along the edge gets crumpled or folded. It requires rigorous planning and constant improvement of the project plan in order to discover and address any potential issues that may interrupt the final delivery. Applying proven acquisition processes and principles will aid Project Managers in creating an environment for success. The decision to choose a product or service from an external supplier or vendor is referred to as outsourcing. The decision to outsource a product or service is a significant one, and the Project Manager must take into consideration additional costs, changes to schedule, deliverables, and value. Furthermore, there are also other decision making factors, such as the need for control over the quality, proprietary technology, time constraints, and lack of expertise or limited capabilities of the external supplier (Project Management Institute, 2013). From a financial and scheduling standpoint, the decision is straightforward, as the success of the project is dependent on resources available through outsourcing. Since the project is dependent on an outside entity, the Project Manager must follow prudent measures to control the process. The first step in controlling the process is to determine the appropriate acquisition process. One reliable process is known as Performance Based Acquisition (PBA). Performance Based Acquisition (PBA) is a results oriented contracting method that focuses on outputs, and is written so that payment or contract extension is based on measurable performance. The main benefit of using PBA is to minimize costs, while improving vendor performance (NIGP, 2012). That brings us to choose certain paths, even if the underlying truth of these paths hasn t been recognized. The things that makes us ticks can be thought of mistakes. A professor of psychology and behavioral economics, Dan Ariely, studied this issue up close. Through his book, Predictably Irrational, these mistakes are both explained and contextualized as human error. Something that all of us do on a daily basis without any recognition. And even when we recognize our misconceptions, we still have a tendency to do it again. While reading Predictably Irrational, I came across several personal . Things like, procrastination and overvaluing materialistic things are two of many misconceptions I have been aberrant to. We, humans, have a tendency to be aberrant, walking out of reasonable paths and into irrational ones. Ariely thoroughly explains how emotions dictate behaviors and decisions we make. Us procrastinators, acknowledge that we do infact procrastinate. The real problem is how we act, knowing we have tendencies to procrastinate. Emotions rush through our veins and speaks louder then our consciousness. As Ariely explained, we are in the cool state when we are making promises such as, spending less or exercising more with a diet. But as soon as we spot materialistic things, our emotions come rush in bringing us to the hot state. When we ignore our long term goals for the immediate fulfilment, we are in fact ... • 15. Compare And Contrast Fargo And No Country For Old Men The auteur theory is best described as a director taking the role of author. Auteur comes from a French word, meaning author or originator. Just as a reader can detect patterns in written works of the same author, viewers can detect patterns in films directed by the same director(s), if they re auteurists. They control as many aspects of the film as they can in order to fully embed it with their vision. The Coen brothers do just that; they, down to the writing of the script, work to control many of the elements of their films. The patterns and style, though with slight alterations with time, carry over in their many works. Fargo (1996) and No Country for Old Men (2007), though almost ten years apart, still adhere quite strongly to the same patterns and style typical of the Coen brothers. In watching these films back to back, the similarities are much more apparent, but are definitely not discreet enough to go unnoticed if watched ten years apart. Both Fargo and No Country for Old Men exhibit main characters, depicted as the average Joe, who are wound up into a complex scheme of murder and mayhem. They both, however, don t initially appear to be too complicated. In Fargo, the audience is presented with a nervous and stuttering car salesman who seems to be in over his head with debt. He concocts what seems to be an easy ploy of the mock kidnapping of his wife to get some fast cash off of his father in law. What Jerry doesn t account for is the long string of murders that ... My rebuttal on Clark s argument is that Clark is a one eye economist, he only looked in what s the theory has said but he didn t look into how its imply. Clarke look into the theory and he imply that the people s utility (happiness) is society this concept of society is the happiness of people is only from Clarke s calculation not the society . By the second amendment, the right to bear arms is granted to the 318 million people currently living in the United States of America. It justifies the ownership of a gun without directly justifying it. The initial understanding of this amendment by the majority of the U.S. is that every person (under the right circumstance) has the right to have a gun in their possession. Although this meaning has been the inherited mindset of most ideas concerning the matter, the controversial conflicts arising around the existence of this amendment represent the true depth of it s meaning and how it stands for much more than just the right to own a gun. President Andrew Jackson And The Indian Removal Act Of 1830 After the southern state stated that they wanted both political and military action on removing Native American Indians off the southern states, President Andrew Jackson signed the Indian removal act of 1830. They were forced to move and concede to U.S. law or leave their homelands, which led to the Trail of Tears. When the Indians left their homeland, they suffered a long and painful journey that they had to endure in order to be able to reach their new home in the west which is now known as, Oklahoma. This was caused by Land hungry americans in the 19th century that poured into the coastal south and began moving towards the Mississippi river and Alabama. The Indian Removal act of 1830 authorized President Jackson to carry out the policy in his first message to congress. He would be able to trade unorganized public land in the trans Mississippi west for indian land in the east. The law required the government to negotiate removal treaties fairly and peacefully: It did not allow the president or anyone else to coerce Native nations into giving up their land. However, President Jackson and his government most commonly ignored the letter of the law and forced Native Americans to vacate lands they had lived on for generations. As white settlers continued to settle North America and push west there were numerous conflicts with native american tribes. Andrew Jackson s policy, the indian removal act, intensified this conflict. When jackson ignored the compromise established in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A land of diverse and varied history, the Netherlands has overcome intriguing struggles in many centuries, impacting the world despite its diminutive size. The country also shares an eastern border with Germany. The mouths of three major European rivers converge in the Netherlands: the Rhine, Maas (or Meuse), and Schelde. The heritage of the Netherlands is equally interesting. Though the country celebrates unique traditions, such as St. Nicholas Day a holiday based on the life of a generous bishop the earliest recorded history comes from the time of the Roman Empire. The Romans built forts and warred successfully against the natives of the region, known as Batavians. Later, the Batavians rebelled. Though they ultimately lost, they gained a tax exempt status within the Empire. The Dutch proudly consider the perky Batavians to be their founding fathers. Like the rest of Europe, the region became a feudalistic society during the Holy Roman Empire. Pope Urban II s encouragement in the late eleventh century led drew the Dutch into the crusades. Later, the powerful Hapsburg family (1477 1515) entangled the country in religious wars and unsuccessful struggles for emancipation from the Holy Roman Empire. Caught up in the aftermath of the Reformation, the country even came under control of the Roman Catholic Philip II of Spain (husband of Bloody Mary of England). On the rotating table there were open books and the men would turn the table and without any hesitation continued to sing. Around 9:30 is when the church began to fill up and that is when the Priest and two Bishops came out. The Priest wore his stole, which is like a long scarf, around his neck and hanging to the floor on either side of him. The Deacons wore their stole vestments across their body diagonally. There was also a group of 4 boys that helped on the Alter whom also wore robes and they would enter and exit through the Angel Doors also known as Deacon s Doors. Each time they went through the doors they kissed the icon on the door. There were times when the church would stand and times when everyone in the church would sit and these motions were all dictated by the Priest that made gestures to the crowd. The Priest was the leader in charge and everybody else worked around him. The service looked organized because everyone knew where they were supposed to be at a given time. During the service, the deacons would go around and swing the censer which was burning incense. The Altar boys would do things like hold the book as either the priest or one of the deacons read from it. They also carried candles at specific times such as when the deacon walked around and showed the Gospel. At the beginning of the mass the priest spoke to the children casually and asked them questions such as what was so special about today. Children answered that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Gender Roles And Gender Role Stereotypes Gender role stereotypes have a negative impact on society by media, movies, commercials, for instance, Kylie Jenner is a perfect example in which she felt insecure about her body and facial features to where she was under the constant scrutiny of the media comparing her features to the likes of her sisters which are, full lips, large back side and hips and petite nose as well as arched eyebrows. For example, youth girls are seen and reprimanded to play with Barbie dolls, babying equipment and supplies, nursing tools and adorable plush dogs and teddy bears, on the other hand boys are seen playing big and bad wrestlers and G.I. Joe action figures with toy guns and knives, soccer balls, basket balls, and baseballs things that would be outlandish and unusual for girls to be seen playing with. This also sets a bad example for teenagers and adults and makes them want to do the same because these are the people they look up to and want to follow in their footsteps. Meanwhile, movies give off a negative effect for example, in the Walt Disney film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Snow White is cast out by a jealous step mother who only cares about superficial beauty. Snow White ends up cooking and cleaning for the seven men dwarfs , while their off at work and despite the fact that she s been warned of evil, she s easily tricked by the witch in disguise, of course in the end, she gets saved by a man.
