Sonia Delaunay was a Ukrainian-born cubist painter known for her use of color and geometric forms in her work. She moved to Paris in 1905 and married fellow painter Robert Delaunay in 1909. In 1911, she created a patchwork quilt for her son that demonstrated her cubist concepts through geometry and color. Delaunay's work extended beyond painting to include textile design, set design, and fashion. She was a pioneer in integrating geometric abstraction across different mediums and is recognized as one of the first modern designers.
