Changes In The Traditional American Family
Sunday morning, the mother is in the kitchen making breakfast for the family while the father is
feeding the animals getting the children up to do their chores before breakfast. The children do
their chores, eat breakfast with their parents and then get ready dressed to go to church. The mother
after finishing cooking breakfast, gets herself cleaned up to get ready for church, as well has the
father. Then off to church and then a Sunday afternoon spent with the familytogether, no electronics,
no shopping, just together working on takas at home. Does this life exist anymore? The typical
American family has changed drastically. Focusing on marriageas part of this change. In the past,

Greek Influence On New Orleans
New Orleans, Louisiana was greatly influenced by Greek ancestry and culture. It has taken many
different aspects of Greek culture that have impacted the different traditions we have today,
such as architecture, city elements, and Mardi Gras. Greek influenced New Orleans street
names as well as Mardi Gras. New Orleans architecture was affected by Greeks and we also have
many sites in New Orleans that we re affected by greek culture. New Orleans architecture was
greatly influenced by Greek culture. James Gallier developed Greek architecture known as the
Three Sisters on Rampart Street in New Orleans. ( New Orleans Architecture. ) In the 1970 s
they had an influx of Greek sailors and that s when the line of bars in Decatur Street came about
at the Port of New Orleans. The architecture and influence had a great impact on Greater New

Analysis Of John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath
John Steinbeck was born in 1902 in Salinas, California. After he graduated high school, he
attended Stanford University, but never graduated. In 1925 Steinbeck went to New York to
establish himself as a free lance writer for a little while, but it didn t work out so he went back
to California. He published a few short stories and novels for a while. Then in 1935 he was
discovered with Tortilla Flat, a series of humorous stories. Steinbeck s novels are based on
economic problems of labor. After the humorous Tortilla Flat, Steinbeck decided to write a more
serious novel, In Dubious Battle, in 1936. It deals with the strikes of the migratory fruit pickers
on California plantations. Then in 1937 Of Mice and Men was published. Later, The Long Valley,
was published in 1938. In 1939 The Grapes of Wrath was published, the story of Oklahoma tenant
farmers who couldn t earn enough money for a living, so they moved to California and became
migratory workers. After a while he wrote East of Eden in 1952, The Winter of Our Discontent in
1961, and Travels with Charley in 1962. Steinbeck wrote those three stories while traveling in a
three month tour through 40 American states. During this tour, he died in New York City in 1968.

Contemporary Hand Papermaking in North America and Europe
Contemporary Hand Papermaking in North America and Europe
The practice of making paper by hand draws forth past centuries in a single sheet of tangled fibers.
At the same time, the advances of both contemporary hand papermakers and modern technology
have merged this tradition with innovation to create paper of unsurpassed beauty and quality.
Despite the speed and economic advantages of machine made paper, traditional handmade paper
grasps its hold on the modern world, and mills across North America and Western Europe have re
emerged to produce fine handmade papers for artists, bookmakers, and conservators who seek the
highest level of durability, permanence, and aesthetics.
Hand papermaking in the Western world fell into decline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This change from rags to less stable wood pulp, alongside an increased use of fillers such as
bleach and optical brighteners, resulted in a vastly inferior paper than the handmade paper of
preceding centuries.
While the materials rather than the method of production ultimately determine the quality and
longevity of any paper, handmade paper exhibits many desirable qualities that can only be
emulated in machine made paper with difficulty, if at all. Some of these qualities can be
attributed to physical differences between handmade and machine made papers. The
unidirectional movement of the belt of the papermaking machine, for example, results in a
strong grain direction of the paper fibers. In handmade paper, on the other hand, the vat man
typically shakes the mould in four directions, so the resulting sheet displays little to no grain
direction (Hunter 455). As a result of this difference, handmade paper is said to have a drape or
flow that is unmatched by machine made paper (Meirhusby 62). Much of the draw of handmade
paper, however, involves the much more subjective aesthetic character of each sheet of paper.
Silvie Turner summarizes this quality as the beauty, the vitality, the depth, the design, the character
and expressiveness, the level of skill involved, the difference of a handmade sheet (Turner 41),
while Walter Hamady calls it simply voice (Vander Weele). No matter how you describe it in
words, handmade paper shows

Effects Of Children s Television On Language Development...
Nelson and Co. reported that children between the ages of two and five watched television on
average 32 hours a week an eight year high. Parents opinions on their children s television viewing
has contributed to this upward trend. In 2014, the Joan Ganz Cooney Center surveyed 1,557
parents of children between the ages of 2 and 10; they found that 44% of parents believed that
children s television enhanced learning. In addition, the center reported that 78% of parents of
children between the ages of two and five believed that educational television improved their
children s language and cognitive development. The burgeoning years of language development are
not only capricious and vulnerable in nature, but they are also easily influenced by external factors.
Therefore, it is imperative to evaluate the effects of children s television on language development.
Children s television negatively impacts language development because it impedes word
acquisition, delays language acquisitionand negatively affects literacy outcomes. Educational
television negatively impacts language development because it hampers vocabulary acquisition.
Vocabulary acquisition is characterized by an infant s first words and word spurt (i.e., the rapid
growth in a child s vocabulary). Zimmerman, Christakis and Meltzoff (2007) investigated the
relationship between media exposure and language development in children under two years of age.

Essay On Supremacy Clause
Supremacy Clause Are South Coast s fleet rules preempted by the federal Clean Air Act?
(Cheeseman 79) The Supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution establishes that the federal
constitution, and federal law generally, take precedence over state laws, and even state
constitutions. While in this particular matter, the statutes of the Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) would generally trump the state level regulations of organizations such as the California Air
Resources Board (CARB), however the EPA has also mandated that The setting of these pollutant
standards was coupled with directing the states to develop state implementation plans (SIPs),
applicable to appropriate industrial sources in the state, in order to achieve these standards. (EPA,
2015) The standards in questions are called National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS)...

Often times these more stringent standards are put in place by the EPA as federal standards after
research and testing has been accomplished by those states. An example of this is the required use
of Catalytic converters on pollution controlled motor vehicles in 1974 in California, two years
later in 1976, the EPA required the use of Catalytic converters on all pollution controlled motor
vehicles nationwide. Due to the fact that South Coast s standards are more stringent than federal
standards, the association would find that the Supreme Court is more likely to uphold the decisions
of the lower courts; at that time, it is then set at the highest level court and future court cases will
have to look at that precedent as the standard. If the South Coast standard were set at a lower level
than the federal standard established by the EPA, then this is a situation where the Supremacy
clause of the Constitution would come into play in order to mandate compliance with federal law.

Comparing Social Norms in My Last Duchess by Robert...
When one travels, it is easy to observe differences in social norms from country to country. One
may also observe differences within a country, for example, the social norms of a small town or
village versus those of a large metropolis. Differences in social norms can also be observed in
literature. This essay will focus on two dramatic monologues, which were written by poets who
lived in England during the same period. Robert Browningpublished My last Duchessin 1842, the
same year that Alfred Tennyson published Ulysses. Both poets lived in England during the
Victorian era. However, by examining characters from their poetry, namely Alfonso in My Last
Duchess and Odysseus in Ulysses, we can see that they express opposite norms concerning... Show

In contrast, Tennyson s Odysseus doesn t cling to the power, even though he has his own
kingdom, which allows him to control his people. Instead, he chooses to leave the sceptre and the
isle to his son, Telemachus (Line 34) (Tennyson 645). Then he says, When I am gone.
[Telemachus] works his works (Line 43) (Tennyson 645). For this, he has no hesitation to lose his
power over people.
[He] cannot rest from travel: [He] will drink Life to the less: all times [he has] enjoyed Greatly,
[has] a suffered greatly (Line 6 8) (Tennyson 645). Odysseus feels comfort from going around in
his past, but now he can t feel it from unchanged things like staying only in his island to do
almost same thing every day. As he says that how dull it is to pauses, resting from his journey is
not a great moment for him (Line 22) (Tennyson 645). As we can expect, he should live in luxury
more than the other people in his country because he is a kind. But, he expresses that as to rust
unburnished, not to shine in use (Line 23) (Tennyson 645). Life that he is away from finding new
things doesn t mean anything for him. What s more, he mentions that gleams that untravelled
world (Line 20) (Tennyson 645). Odysseus considers the something new shines on his life and to
meet a change isn t fear. However, Alfonso is opposite from Odysseus. He is afraid of something
changes. That s why he kills his wife, and puts his last wife

Physical space can inform researchers on how people interact with that space, and influence social
behavior. Applied anthropologists have a very important tool in their practitioner s toolkit that
allows them to disseminate behavior, actions, and help create spaces that will meet the needs of the
population using ethnography. Ethnography allows practitioners to use their observational skills to
improve the design of a product, landscape, environment, or assist with an infrastructural design
based on the needs of the individuals that will access such facilities (Rijsberman 2012). To do so, it
is extremely important to know the impact of physical surroundings and environmental behavior
and understand that environments have a strong influence on people s interaction with the physical
landscape.
The chapters assigned for this week focused on observing physical spaces and observing
environmental behavior. It is important to observe physical traces, physical surroundings, which
display how people interact with other individuals and that environment (Zeisel 2006). One of the
big topics of chapter 8 was how individuals change their environment to meet their needs. For
example, this can be observed when individuals create their own walkway or path. Around San Jose

individuals will change the way they act if they know they are being observed. This can affect the
data one receives so it is important to consider in data analysis. It is particularly important to
understand such effect on the people that are being observed and mitigate the impact by being

When Did Samuel Wrote The Book Of Judges
The book of Judges is an extremely interesting book in the Old Testament that explains to readers
that sin or failing to follow God s law will result in punishment. While there is no biblical
clarification of who wrote the book of Judges, multiple sources suggest that Samuel was the
author. Many come to this conclusion because of the use of the phrase in those days there was no
king in Israel (Judges 17:6; 18:1; 19:1; 21:25) this indicates the book s composition happened
during a time when Israel had a king. While this does not solidify the author s identity, there are
verses throughout Judges that provide contextual clues alluding to Samuel being the author of the
book. For the sake of brevity, one can conclude Samuel was the author.... Show more content on

Laser printers are usually bigger than inkjet printers. A printer can print one sided or double sided.
Most small offices purchase an all in one inkjet printer which means that this printer can print
from a computer and can be used as a photocopier it is also able to scan documents and send fax
through the internet. Printers need to be connected to a computer or computer network either
wirelessly or through a cable to be able to print documents from one or more computers. Big
company have often a range of different printers and copiers available depending on what is needed
by the staff: fast big quantity printing or precise high quality picture and photo printing.
Scanners: They are used to convert a document or image into an electronic file that can be used
and stored on a computer, Sometime scanners are part of a printer but usually scanners that are
the most efficient are small scanners that can be attached to a computer through an USB cable
they can scan single sided or double sided documents very fast. They can scan in colour or in
black and white. Scanners are essential when a company needs to keep hard copy of their files in
law firm in a medical environment or in an accountancy department.

Berserk By Kentaroo Miura Character Analysis
Communication between lovers can be very difficult especially if one of the two in the
relationship had been raised with little to no affection shown to him and the only type of
communication known to the individual is violence. Yet even through much struggle and
growing as a person, it is still possible to learn how to love another. Such is the case with the
main character Guts of the graphic novel series Berserk by Kentaro Miura. I believe Guts was
able to learn how to love and communicate his love for his eventual lover Caska because of these
reasons, Firstly his time becoming socialized with comrades in the service of the mercenary band
of the Hawk , his shared struggles with Caska and his eventual declaration of his companionate...

McCornk explains this as being someone with chronic hostility, people who always carry anger
around with them because they bottle it up for so long they are in a constant state of anger.
(McCornk, 2015) (p. 87). Understanding that Guts has been subjected to suffering and isolation
he does not socialize with others well even when the other parties are doing their best to establish
a friendship. We can see Gut s ability to communicate civilly with others eventually evolve after
an extended period of time with the other mercenaries this is due to him being part of an in group
of peers since they all fought for a living Guts was able to understand that he had more in common
with the others than previously believed. McCornk (2015) would suggest that Guts used
Uncertainty reduction theory with the group gathering as much information on them as he could
that way he had less uncertainty about them and understand how and the conversation becomes
more predictable. (McCornak, 2015, p. 56). We see that after spending time with this band of
mercenaries Guts begins to build communal friendship as his walls and barriers begin to come

The Last Supper
The Last Supper Research Essay
The Last Supper is a religious scene in the Catholic bible, which tells the story of the last meal the
night before the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. An important role in its religion, the Last Supper scene
has been recreated by artists many times. These visual interpretations of the event generally show
Jesus, surrounded by his disciples. During the meal, Jesus breaks the bread and serves the wine
accompanied with the command Take this all of you and eat it... this is my body... do this in
remembrance of me . Three artists who have produced paintings of the Last Supper include
Leonardo DaVinci, Jacopo Tintoretto and Salvador Dali. Each of these artists interpreted the
religious event and recreated it in terms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to the physical reaction of the disciples, Jesus is calm with a peaceful equilibrium and a
dignified strength. He sits with his palms upturned to form a triangle with his arms and head, which
again refers to the number three symbolising the Holy Trinity.
By choosing this part of the story; he also chooses to leave out the bread and the wine normally
sitting on the table in visuals of the Last Supper. Leonardo s version is also the first to have Judas
sitting on the same side of the table as Jesus. Judas is identifiable by the symbols employed by
Leonardo, such as the money bag clutched tightly in Judas hand and the difference in his gesture
and facial expression to the other disciples. Although this painting breaks conventions, the realism
used by Leonardo helped the paintings function of conveying a true story to its audience to inspire
them to be more faithful.
Perceptions of this artwork will have changed over time, as today s audience is far less religious
and would therefore be more likely to see The Last Supper as an aesthetic piece of artwork rather
than a narrative of a biblical story or connection to God.
After the ride and fall of High Renaissance came the style known as Mannerism. This style involved
developing artist individual style, artificial, aesthetically fantastic images and breaking away from
tradition including Renaissance. Mannerism was inspired by the

Synthetic And Natural Fibers Of Polymer Building Composites

1.0 Introduction
All strands utilized as a part of polymer building composites can be isolated into two classes, to be
specific synthetic and natural fibers. Synthetic fibers are the most widely recognized. Albeit there
are numerous sorts of engineered filaments, glass, carbon and aramid strands speak to the most
essential. Kevlar is a sweet smelling polyamide or aramid fiber presented in mid 1970s by DuPont.
It was the first natural fiber with adequate elasticity and modulus to be utilized as a part of
cutting edge composites (Dupont.com, 2015). It has to take five times the rigidity of steel with
a relating tractable modulus. Initially grew as a swap for steel in spiral tires, Kevlar is currently
utilized as a part of an extensive variety of uses. It is an exchange name of aramid fiber. The U.S.
Government Trade Commission gives a decent meaning of an aramid fiber as a fiber in which the
framing substance is a long chain manufactured polyamide in which no less than 85% of the amide
linkages are joined straightforwardly to two sweet smelling rings (Hancox, 1993). 1.2 Composition
of Kevlar and Glare
The composition of Kevlar is poly para phenyleneterephthalamide also known as a para aramid. It
is arranged para substituted aromatic units. Aramids have a place with the group of nylons.
Normal nylons, for example, nylon 6, 6 do not have great auxiliary properties, so the para aramid
refinement is critical. Aramid strands like Nomex or Kevlar, then

The Rape Laws Against Sex
Beginning in the 10th century, a man who raped a virgin was sentenced to death, and his land
and money were given to the victim (Richards Marcum, 2015, p. 16). However, since times were
different, if the victim decided to marry her attacker, he would ultimately evade the legal
repercussion of his heinous actions. During the 12th and 13th century laws against sex, crimes
began to change. The first law change assisted virgins that were raped. They were able to file a
civil suit against the perpetrator. Therefore, this process would evolve into a trail by a jury. Finally,
during the 13th century the criminal definition of rapechanged, yet again due to society changing.
This new law stated that the rape of matrons, nuns, widows, concubines, and prostitutes, as well as
the statutory rapeof children (Richards Marcum, 2015, p. 16) was now considered a criminal act.
Taking a look at the United States, the rape law here consisted of five elements that must be met
before it was considered rape in a court of law. The act had to be criminal, involve carnal
knowledge, victimize a woman, and be committed using force, and the force has to be against the
will of the victim (Richards Marcum, 2015, p. 17). The United States law had many restrictions
that did not consider rape against spouses. This common law definition of rape was used until the
mid 1900 s. It was not until 1962 when the Model Penal Code established a broader definition of
rape. This definition was an updated

against her sisters for Lear s rights. She speaks with Lear who has nearly lost his mind, and he
does not know who she is: Lear: You do me wrong to take me out o th grave; /thou art a soul in
bliss; but I am bound /do scald like molten lead. (Shakespeare, 4. 7. 45 48). Here, Lear believes
that he is dead and in hell. When he see s Cordelia, he calls her a soul in bliss , an angel which
confirms that he believes that she is dead as well. This shows his insanity, and foreshadows his and
Cordelia s deaths. Cordelia later loses the battle between France and Britain which results in her and
her father getting captured. Once Cordelia and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In Shakespeare s King Lear, Lear is a tragic hero who is a male of noble birth, and whose tragic
flaws essentially lead to the end of his life, as well the destruction of other characters in the play.
Lear s masculinity and nobility combined is his first characteristic for being a tragic hero. His next
quality is how he suffers from his tragic flaws which leads to his those around him tragic demise.
Through Shakespeare s play, tragedy progresses as two indistinguishable father, child relationships
cause mayhem in Lear s Kingdom. Lear s relationship with his daughters and The Earl of
Gloucester, a nobleman in King Lear s court relationship with his son s reveal the link this play
has to society. Both relationships become damaged because of a lack of awareness, natural order,
and premature judgment based on emotions. King Lear disowns his youngest daughter and is
betrayed by his two oldest daughters. He causes a rivalry between sisters which eventually leads to
their death. Gloucester has come to believe that his eldest son, Edgar betrayed him when it is his

White Privilege In American Society
White privilege has been identified as the unspoken and often unseen advantages that white
people benefit from in various aspects of everyday life, based on nothing more than the colour of
their skin (Robbins et al. 2014:98). White privilege creates a social hierarchy in American society,
in which white is normative, and at the top of the hierarchy, and anything else is deviant
(Gallagher 2003:25). This paper will demonstrate how white privilege serves as a visual barrier for
white people, through which they are blind to the everyday struggles of people of colour. Most
people who live with white privilege remain blind to the ways in which their privilege both helps
them, and harms others. The experience of Jennifer Cramblett and Amanda Zinkon,... Show more

In making this decision, she was faced with the harsh reality that many non white mothers
struggle with; finding a multicultural school that would be accepting of her child (Mystal 2014).
All of a sudden, Cramblett was confronted with wondering if the schools would have resources
that promoted positive black identity development, so her daughter would not grow up feeling
like an outsider (Harman 2010:184). As a white person, this is something Cramblett would never
have had to be concerned with in her own life. White people live with the privilege that they can
bring a new baby into their family, their town, and their schools without worrying that their child
will face discrimination based on their racialized appearance. Cramblett was therefore unable to
recognize the everyday struggles of racialized minorities, until she was put in the position of
having to make these decisions with the safety and well being of a non white person in mind. This
is clearly illustrated by the shock and emotional distress Cramblett describes at the idea of bringing
her child into a predominantly white environment, clearly indicating the blinding nature of her
privilege (Mystal

Political Party Viewpoints
Quite often, people are eager to proclaim whether they are a democrat or a republican, yet many of
these people use these political terms because they have been told to, rather than actually resonating
with the beliefs of said political party. Preferably, voters should research issues most important to
them and figure out their own stances, then commit to the political partywith the most similar
viewpoint by examining the party s platform from a reliable source. Political parties are voluntary,
organized groups of people with similar political aims and opinions who work to influence public

The Republican Party calls themselves pro life but once the baby has been born, it is up to the
family to fund everything for that child, from their basic needs to their potential college education.
The lack of social programs does not improve quality of life and it is bothersome that people who
call themselves pro life will not support programs like welfare, food stamps, and housing
assistance. The lack of funding for these programs causes many people to hurt financially. This
also flaws the Republican idea of how to fix the national debt. The Republicans believe that trickle
down economics work and that the people will spend their money on American goods to help
stimulate the U.S. economy. The problem with that theory is when people do not have the money
to provide for their basic needs, they will most definitely not be spending money on simple desires

Phenomenology Of Friedrich Hegel
Gorge Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel was born in the year 27th August, 1770, in Stuttgart, Germany. He
studied philosophies and classics at Tubingen. He was a tutor and an editor and explored theology
after his graduation. The Phanomenologie des Geistes (The Phenomenology of Sprit) was his first
work being published in 1807. He was the person who propounded the Dialectical method . Which
is usually in a three stages namely thesis (giving rise to its reaction), antithesis (negates the thesis)
and the tension between thesis and the antithesis being resolved by the means of antithesis
(Sparknotes, 2005). In a simple form dialectics method can be understood as problem to reaction
and finally to solution. Hegel was influenced by other philosopher like... Show more content on

Master slave dialectic is a process of negotiation and mutual interdependence. Hegel believes that
the consciousness for the Master is not an independent but a dependent on slave. According to
Hegel, both master and slave recognize their own existence only in relation of the other. Among the
many implications of the master slave dialectic, then, is the idea of there being mutual dependence
between master and slave rather than a blanket opposition of dominance to subordination. The slave
ironically shares in the master s power because the master defines himself only in opposition to the
slave; that is, the master needs the slave in order to legitimate his comparative

Triple Crossbow Research Paper
Imagine thousands of arrows flying at the enemy, giant triple crossbows that shoot metal arrows
over a mile, gunpowder propelled missiles, a crossbow that fires like a machine gun, pinpoint
accurate catapults that can take down specific targets, and bombs exploding all over the ground.
One might think that this is ancient Europejust as one might think that the best warriors in the
ancient world were Europeans such as Anglo Saxons, French, and Greeks. However, this is an
ancient battlefield of China. The reality is that the European warriors were always trying to catch
up to the Chinese. In fact, the Chinese made advances in sword making, archery, siege weapons,
and ballistics long before Europeans had grasped those ideas.

The Europeans invented the trebuchet in the late Medieval Ages. It took many men to load and fire
the weapon, but the trebuchet could accurately launch projectiles from a great distance, almost one
mile. However, the triple crossbow is a true siege weapon of mass destruction. It was first depicted
in an ancient document called the Essentials Of the Military Arts, which was completed in the
early Song Dynasty (1043 AD). With a total length of 7.62 meters, this colossal weapon used
three bows to shoot a single bolt. Despite its size, the Chinese generals would mount it on a pivot
that made it extremely mobile and versatile, allowing it to turn in a full 360 degrees. According
the Essentials Of the Military Arts, the triple crossbow would be mounted on top of a tower and
the bolts fired were massive full iron and steel arrows almost the size of the triple crossbow
itself, which could be fired over a mile. The image of a massive iron arrow flying at high speeds
and destroying a building into rubble around the enemies could create fear within the ranks. The
fear the bow instilled could cause an army or town to surrender before any actual fighting begins.
As Sun Tzu said, a skillful leader subdues the enemy s troops without any fighting. These brilliant
engineers created the Triple crossbow at the same time as the trebuchet, but it had a more versatile
range of motion and could send projectiles further than the trebuchet therefor making it more useful

Hill fort building was also a main a characteristic of the Iron Age. In early celtic Ireland, the land
was divided into clans. Each clan was independent under an elected king. Sometimes clans
would join together and the king who ruled over both clans received respect and honor rather
than sovereignty. In the tenth century there was finally a king of all Ireland. The land was then
divided into five different clans known as the Five Fifths which appeared in the proximity of the
Christian era. The five clans were Ulster, Meath, Leinster, Munster, and Connaught. It was not
until the eleventh century that Munster took supreme kingship over all of Ireland. The higher
class lived around the kind and lived under clearly defined laws. Other society classes took care
of the cattle and fields of those from a higher class. Early Celtic Ireland was full of rearing cattle
and growing crops. For other food, fishing, hunting, fowling, and trapping was necessary. The
transportation of goods was done by the means of packhorses for land, and curraghs for water. A
currah is a wicker framed boat that is covered with animal hides. However, a dug out was the
normal watercraft. Dwellings were built using the post and wattle technique. Due to excavations,
there has been proof found that some of these lodgings may have appeared as early as the Bronze
Age until medieval times. Fast forwarding to the mid 1800 s, a devastating catastrophe hit Ireland:

Key Differences Between Sleep Apnea And Obstructive Sleep
The topic that I chose is very dear to me personally. A few years ago, the year before I came to
Southeastern, I began to have sleeping issues. I would stay awake for all hours of the evening
and would become restless. At first glance, I thought that I had sleep insomnia and in the
mornings, even if I got six to eight hours of sleep I would still wake up completely exhausted. It
never mattered what I was doing, even if I would take a nap, the end results were the same:
complete exhaustion upon waking up. After several months of this I began to complain to my
parents and tell them that I felt that something was wrong with my sleeping. They never believed
me at the beginning. After the summer, they still were unable to do much about my sleeping... Show

Sleep apnea is characterized in a similar manner to hypopnea, a lack of airflow and oxygen levels
at night whilst sleeping. However there are some key differences. Sleep hypopnea is a part of
the obstructive sleep apnea family, and therefore has to deal with any obstructions that occur in
the airways whilst sleeping (Phillips, 2015). Central sleep apnea, is another type of sleep apnea
that can occur in people. This apnea is very different from obstructive sleep apnea. This apnea is
caused because the brain temporarily fails to signal to the muscles that are in charge of
controlled breathing. Obstructive sleep apnea is referred to as a mechanical problem, whereas
central sleep apnea is referred to as a communication problem (Phillips, 2015). Central sleep
apnea is much less common than obstructive sleep apnea and it can be caused by medical
conditions that affect the brainstem. The symptoms of central sleep apnea are very similar to
obstructive sleep apnea: stopping breathing or irregular breathing during sleep, shortness of
breath leading to awakenings, chronic fatigue, excessive daytime drowsiness, morning
headaches, poor/restless sleep, difficulty concentrating, mood changes, and snoring (Phillips,
2015). The treatment for central sleep apnea is by using a CPAP machine or a BPAP machine
(which is very similar to a CPAP), certain medications have also been known to help stimulate
proper breathing whilst sleeping (Phillips, 2015). Finally, the last kind of sleep apnea that can
occur is complex sleep apnea. This type of sleep apnea is a mixture of obstructive sleep apnea
and central sleep apnea. Essentially, this type of apnea occurs because of slight obstruction and the
brain failing to properly inform the muscles to breathe (Phillip, 2015). BPAP machines and
Adaptive servo ventilators have shown successful use as the machines are capable of performing a

My Paper On Pleural Effusions
Etiology Imagine waking up in the morning to the discomfort of not being able to take a proper
ventilation. Horrible, right? This is what people who have pleural effusions feel. I chose to do my
paper on pleural effusions. Pleural effusions are a collection of fluid in the pleural space, the cavity
surrounding the lungs. Typically, there is 10 mL of fluid in this space to lubricate the pleura,
however when disrupted by diseases such as pneumonia, pulmonary embolisms, congestive heart
failure, or cancer, fluid begins to third space and collect in abnormal amounts. The biggest
challenge then becomes dyspnea and tachypnea. This is because the extra fluid decreases pressure
making it difficult for the lung to fully expand. Pleural effusions... Show more content on

Prevention Respiratory Therapists are part of the multidisciplinary team. Patient education by all
member across the spectrum is vital. In order to embed prevention measures in a patient s head,
repetition must occur by all healthcare personnel. According to Liu (2014), primary prevention
involves the education of pneumococcal immunizations to prevent pleural effusions from
pneumonia. As previously mentioned, pulmonary embolisms are a common cause of pleural
effusions, therefore educating about the importance of exercise and compliance with anticoagulants
is significant. Educating early on about smoking cessation can help prevent pleural effusions in the
long run. The average American has a fifth grade reading level, therefore use language that can be
understood. Sitting with your patients at eye level while establishing trust and rapport will aid in
their compliance with education provided to prevent pleural effusions. Patient education about
prevention is often times bypassed due to time constraints, therefore educate and engage in
conversation before, during, and after respiratory treatment. Pleural Effusions IV Pathophysiology
Understanding what the human body undergoes when pleural effusions are present is important to
truly prevent the recurrence of disease. Basically an increase in hydrostatic pressure causes pleural
fluid accumulation. A decrease in colloid osmotic pressure

Pure Econom Ic Loss And Consequential Economic Loss
There is a fundamental distinction between Pure Econom ic Loss and Consequential Economic
Loss, as Pure Eco nomic Loss occurs independent of any physical damage to the person or
property of the victim. What is common to both types of claims is that in order to successfully
claim or even have a leg to stand on there must be proof of a duty of care having been broken. As
long as you can show the defendant has breached their duty of care and you have suffered
foreseeable damage then you can recover. The problem with Pure Economic Loss is that the
classes of people who can recover is very limited. The Courts have tried to keep it this way in
order to keep the number of claimants as low as possible. The fear is that if claims for purely
economic loss are allowed then it would encourage more claims of this type. Chief Justice
Cardazo from America stated Recovery of economic loss in the absence of physical damage or
per sonal injury would expose defendants to liability in an in determinante time to an
indeterminante class. This general rule applies in Scotland, meaning that if there is no liability
for causing Pure Economic Loss, this is be cause of the Courts reluctance to open the floodgates
to an infinite number of claims. The rules for how the Courts respond to these claims are set out
in Common Law which has evolved over the years, where patterns have formed and have now
established one of the vital legal frame works for Delict Law in Scotland. A crucial case

What the Two Proposals in Pride and Prejudice Reveal...
Pride and Prejudice is a novel fixated on marriage: throughout, all the action occurs within scenes
devoted to either the talk of marriage or actual proposals. This cannot be expounded more than
within the very first line: It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a
good fortune must be in want of a wife . Here, at the beginning of the novel, a definite, though
somewhat sarcastic, statement introduces the main theme of the novel marriageand, possibly more
importantly, not love.
The stark divide between love and marriage shown right the way through cannot be comprehended

This is the reason both proposals are declined: Elizabeth is of a mind that she will not marry for
social security or for money only love could tempt her into matrimony. The first proposal is from
Mr Collins, a man to whom Elizabeth was not even his first choice; Jane, the eldest and most
beautiful, was his first fancy, but when informed that she had been privately engaged, he swiftly
switches to Elizabeth, who is equally next to Jane in birth and beauty . His introduction to
Elizabeth is not a pleasant one, although he is too ignorant to notice; she finds him a conceited,
pompous, narrow minded, silly man . Her observation is quite correct, and illustrated to the greatest
affect in his proposal speech.
Collins does not seem to possess his own conception of love: he intends to get married merely
because it is the particular advice and recommendation of Lady Catherine de Bourgh, his patron
and first love . He even goes so far as to explain this to Elizabeth within his proposal; Mr Collins
you must marry, Chuse...a gentle woman for my [Lady Catherine s] sake , showing his complete
inaptitude to understand the feelings of others. No mutual acquaintance and love between each
other was needed. Marriage, to Collins, was only a right thing for every clergyman in easy

nothing other than a nuisance to him, and it is obvious he is showing up with unpleasant

This shocks him and he moves into swift motion and, He rushed past her like a football tackle

Martin looked quickly around the living room for THE weapon (3). The search for something to

Initially, his plan all along was to kill her with whatever he found in her place. Following, he

It wouldn t do (4). Obviously, this is a red flag, especially considering how much he despises her.
Not only is he seeking the appropriate sharp object, he also makes sure to retain his gloves, in

Useless Part of Speech: Adj Narrative: Everyone (besides Mr. Smith because he doesn t enjoy

Farewell To Manzanar, And The Bracelet By Yoshika Uchida
Japanese Americans were sent to internment camps after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. This is when
Americans focused their fears of Japanese Americans turning against them. Perspective is
significant to this particular event due to how it reveals the characters attitudes throughout his or
her experience. The accounts that coincide with each other, although differ in perspectives are,
Farewell to Manzanar, and, The Bracelet . Farewell to Manzanar is a memoir written by Jeanne
Wakatsuki who discusses how her and her family had hardships during the time of the Japanese
American War. The Bracelet is a short story by Yoshika Uchida. The author wrote about a Japanese
adolescent, Ruri, who learns a life lesson while going through traumatic times. Based on a
comparison of multiple events, Jeanne and Ruri have undergone the same experiences. However,
those events defined how their and other individuals attitudes contrast. Likewise to Ruri, Jeanne
was forced into an internment camp because Americans feared them turning against the United
States. Jeanne and Ruri s attitude towards the event were alike due to how they were called
enemy aliens. Ruri believes that her father was loyal to the United States, so it was funny to her
how he was being taken away and considered an enemy alien. This relates to Jeanne because she
states that President Roosevelt approved and gave permission to the War Department authority to
take her father. In the short story, Yoshika Uchida says, The FBI had

A Case Control Study On Birth Defects
In 2002, a case control study was started in Brittanny, France. The candidates were women who
were well into their second trimester (Douglas). Out of this study, they concluded that 79 out of
the 580 babies were born with birth defects (Douglas). The mothers were questioned about their
home lives and their hobbies, along with their occupation. Twenty nine percent of the women
were found to be exposed to these solvents based on the products they use in their home while
twenty one percent of women were exposed to harmful products through their profession
(Douglas). Women who reported regular exposure to solvents were four times more likely to have
a baby with an oral cleft as compared to women who did not report regular exposure. Using job...

Hormones are the building blocks of life. Without them, you can t create new lives. However,
hormones are starting to cause people to worry. Breast development is on the rise. Girls, on
average, are beginning to mature and grow breasts at the age of nine, which causes one to raise
suspicion considering how the average in the 1960 s was around age 11 (Steingraber 746). Early
breast development can be linked to breast cancer later on in life. A common misconception is that
all man made chemicals are harmful, and all natural chemicals are good for us. However, many
natural chemicals are just as harmful to human health, if not more so (Lorch). Dorea Reeser
provides a different perspective to counteract the harmful effects of manmade chemicals. Dorea
Reeser upholds a Ph. D. in environmental chemistry at the University of Toronto. She researches
and studies the chemical reactions at water surfaces, and how the chemical and physical properties
influence these reactions and the release of important trace gases into the troposphere.
The idea that nature can harm us is not new. Have you ever heard of malaria, HIV, tuberculosis,
botulism or tetanus? Why, then, are so many convinced that anything and everything natural is
healthier for us than synthetic products? It s true that modern chemistry has brought us a number of
toxic chemicals, like DDT and dioxins, but do you really think that nature s chemicals are any less

Parenting Styles Essay
When my first child was born I there was considerable interest in Mozart CDs. These Cd s were
marketed with the promise that playing them would enrich the intellectual and creative
development of my child. Behind the popularity of selling products on such an idea is an
unfortunate theme: Parenting can be done quickly and with little inconvenience. The reality is that
good parenting does not require classical music, but instead time and effort. As children grow from
infancy into adolescence the role of parenting broadens. How parents react to their child s actions
communicates a standard of appropriate and inappropriate behavior that are fulfilled with varying
degrees of conscious awareness. There are two major dimensions that underline... Show more

What are the differences between children who have parents that show little affection when
compared to those who liberally hug and kiss? Does it matter if some parents are strict while
others are lax? Does it make a difference if some parents spank their children while others go on
in seemingly endlessly discussions? As my son once said to his older brother, Just say you
understand so he ll shut up. Diana Baumrind (1966, 1967, 1978) decided to find out the answers to
those questions by determining what effect parenting styles, as interactions between the two
dimensions of parental acceptance and control, had on children s social and intellectual
competence. To start with, Baumrind identified four distinct parenting styles: neglectful,
permissive, authoritarian, and authoritative. Neglectful parenting is a style in which the parent is
very uninvolved in the child s life. These parents seem to focus more on their own lives and are
not particularly involved with or supportive of their children. They appear to be detached from the
child and provide only for their basic physical and emotional needs and not much else. They offer
little or no help with homework, provide minimal supervision, and spend little time together.
Permissive (or indulgent) parents are responsive and accepting. They make few demands of their
children, indulge their children s desires, and use little punishment. They allow their children free
expression of impulses and set few

The Influence Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was an extreme advancement in technology, business,
machinery and more. It showed the revolutionary practices and abilities of big business. The
revolution shows us what can happen if you let greed struck corporate owners have influence
and control over a country, because power and materialism corrupted their minds they began
to create some of the greatest economic empires in the world. This lead to them underpaying
their workers from the desires to become the most powerful men in America.

Throughout history from the Industrial Revolution technology has changed and advanced
from factories and machines. The first revolution used water and steam to power machines
creating steamboats and waterworks. The second used electric power to advance in light

to automate production creating mass factories and constant production of goods, the fourth is
using digital technology and more to create our modern day technology, including phones, toys,
and technology in war and other practices. Many advanced were shown during times of war
Where scientists had to work extra hard to create new things.
Today advancements in technology have led to job loss and job growth, with jobs getting
lost to machines new jobs open up to people who need to create those machines. Many think
the machines will replace their jobs and that isn t too much of an irrational standpoint. The
current industrial revolution has lead to corporate power and influence through America, nothing
really has changed ever since the first industrial revolution.
The earnings gap has been effected and has changed greatly, during the Industrial
Revolution there really was no middle class, it was only rich against poor. Due to our corporatist

пїјHuge amounts of data are collected nowadays from different application domains and are not
feasible to analyze all these data manually. Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD) is the
nontrivial process of identifying valid, novel, potentially useful, and ultimately understandable
patterns in data. In recent years, soft computing became more and more attractive for the
researchers, who work in the related research field of data mining. This paper concerns primarily
about how to use soft computing model to extract knowledge from data mining (database). The
data mining preprocessing techniques have been applied on the available data to clean it in
proper form to extract the knowledge from the data. Thereafter, statistical analysis and soft
computing techniques have been applied on the clean data to select the preferable model. The
decision of the preferable model has to be achieved based on the maximum number of minimum
value of the parameters of residual analysis and average error. The preferable model has been used
to extract the knowledge from the data mining. The goal of the

Music and the Mind Essay
When Albert Einstein was a young kid, his teachers believed that he was too stupid to learn They
suggested to his mother that he just skip school and start manual labor early, because he was a
hopeless case. But despite everything, his mother continued to make him go to school; in addition,
she also bought him a violin. Violin soon became one of his greatest passions, and he even stated
himself, that playing the violin was what made him intelligent. His friend, G.J. Withrow had said,
that whenever Einstein had trouble figuring out an equation he would go and improvise on the
violin.
One reason that suggests this may have really helped him is that music has been proven to have

There is, however, evidence behind Mozart and the slight improvement in test scores. It s
effectiveness is shown through the results of an IQ test performed on three groups of college
students. The first group listened to Mozart s Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major before taking
the IQ test. The second group listened to a relaxation tape and the third group had nothing to
listen to. The results showed that the first group s average had a difference of 9 points (119)
compared to the third group (110), who had sat in silence, while the second group only had a one
point increase from the group who sat in silence. So Mozart can increase your IQ up to 9 points, it
may not be a huge, but there s still a noticeable difference.

to teach foreign languages to students in just a fraction of time it usually took. The system had
students learn the same amount of grammar and vocabulary typically learned in one school term

pieces from the Baroque period that contained the 60 beat per minute pattern in his lessons.
Through his method he proved that foreign languages can be learned with 85 100% efficiency in

It also shows the inner mystery of women that people cannot see or understand. In the first stanza
Pretty women under where my secret lies, she talks about all women accepting and loving
themselves just the way they are. Women should not try to compare themselves with what they see
on TV or in magazines. They should take pride in the amazing features that they were born with,
even though what we see in the media is describing as the idea image. This image of a perfect
woman is not real. In society today, there is no such thing as the perfect woman or man.
Everyone has flaws or different features that set us apart from one another. In the second stanza
I walk into a room just as cool as you please, talks about how a woman describes her body to
show self assuredness. Every action she describes how a woman can move a room as if she has
complete control of that room. It shows that she knows what she is doing and has every intention
of it. She knows that she may not be a coca cola bottle or a petite woman, but she is beautiful and
can steal people attention if she wants to. This leads to the third stanza My inner mystery. A woman
inner mystery is our confidence. We are confident when a man approaches us and talks to us. We
are also confident in what we do and believe. When people say that they cannot see what we have
to offer, we say our beauty. We feel like we can offer a lot with our beauty and

Angela Tiatia Walking The Wall
The body has been cut, burned, exploited, sexualized, glorified, abused and stretched out to its
limits, as a form of curiosity in art. The body has been a central theme throughout art history and in
the contemporary world today. It is recognized as a symbol of identity, social politics, culture and
belonging. Art cannot be made without the presence of the body and its interaction with the
material world. Artists have continually tried to redefine the meaning behind the encounters of the
body and the body as the medium. From early works in Western paintings and sculpture, the body
served as an idealized figure, only made to represent the mythical, biblical, the rich and historical
figures. The representations of the body seem to only serve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Angela Tiatia, video work Walking the wall is currently being exhibited, and is a good example
of how the body is used to discuss issues of identity and its relation to culture. TiaTia, works
often deal with the subject matter of colonization, globalization and gender. In the video work
Walking the wall , Tiatia is shown lying down on the floor, whilst she uses her legs to walk up
the wall in heels. By walking up the wall she reveals her sacred malu, a tattoo that is a Samoan
culture taboo. This act her body takes is a symbol of protest, as she opens her legs she questions
the unfair female expectations Samoan women face, as they are expected to cover it, while men
can wear their own proudly. As well as, the act of opening her legs is an indication to western
culture and the sexualized expectation of feminity. The two contrasting cultures of covering up
and uncovering, is reflected in the tension of her legs as they continually walk up and down, in an
exhausting matter, the viewer is provoked to feel uneasy, wondering if she might slip. Like
Sherman s films stills, TiaTia also explores the ridiculousness of female expectations and pressure
to conform. However, unlike Sherman, TiaTia does not want any ambiguity in her works, as they
are more personal and culturally charged. In addition TiaTia works, reflect her identity

  • 4. Analysis Of John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath John Steinbeck was born in 1902 in Salinas, California. After he graduated high school, he attended Stanford University, but never graduated. In 1925 Steinbeck went to New York to establish himself as a free lance writer for a little while, but it didn t work out so he went back to California. He published a few short stories and novels for a while. Then in 1935 he was discovered with Tortilla Flat, a series of humorous stories. Steinbeck s novels are based on economic problems of labor. After the humorous Tortilla Flat, Steinbeck decided to write a more serious novel, In Dubious Battle, in 1936. It deals with the strikes of the migratory fruit pickers on California plantations. Then in 1937 Of Mice and Men was published. Later, The Long Valley, was published in 1938. In 1939 The Grapes of Wrath was published, the story of Oklahoma tenant farmers who couldn t earn enough money for a living, so they moved to California and became migratory workers. After a while he wrote East of Eden in 1952, The Winter of Our Discontent in 1961, and Travels with Charley in 1962. Steinbeck wrote those three stories while traveling in a three month tour through 40 American states. During this tour, he died in New York City in 1968. • 5. Contemporary Hand Papermaking in North America and Europe Contemporary Hand Papermaking in North America and Europe The practice of making paper by hand draws forth past centuries in a single sheet of tangled fibers. At the same time, the advances of both contemporary hand papermakers and modern technology have merged this tradition with innovation to create paper of unsurpassed beauty and quality. Despite the speed and economic advantages of machine made paper, traditional handmade paper grasps its hold on the modern world, and mills across North America and Western Europe have re emerged to produce fine handmade papers for artists, bookmakers, and conservators who seek the highest level of durability, permanence, and aesthetics. Hand papermaking in the Western world fell into decline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This change from rags to less stable wood pulp, alongside an increased use of fillers such as bleach and optical brighteners, resulted in a vastly inferior paper than the handmade paper of preceding centuries. While the materials rather than the method of production ultimately determine the quality and longevity of any paper, handmade paper exhibits many desirable qualities that can only be emulated in machine made paper with difficulty, if at all. Some of these qualities can be attributed to physical differences between handmade and machine made papers. The unidirectional movement of the belt of the papermaking machine, for example, results in a strong grain direction of the paper fibers. In handmade paper, on the other hand, the vat man typically shakes the mould in four directions, so the resulting sheet displays little to no grain direction (Hunter 455). As a result of this difference, handmade paper is said to have a drape or flow that is unmatched by machine made paper (Meirhusby 62). Much of the draw of handmade paper, however, involves the much more subjective aesthetic character of each sheet of paper. Silvie Turner summarizes this quality as the beauty, the vitality, the depth, the design, the character and expressiveness, the level of skill involved, the difference of a handmade sheet (Turner 41), while Walter Hamady calls it simply voice (Vander Weele). No matter how you describe it in words, handmade paper shows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Effects Of Children s Television On Language Development... Nelson and Co. reported that children between the ages of two and five watched television on average 32 hours a week an eight year high. Parents opinions on their children s television viewing has contributed to this upward trend. In 2014, the Joan Ganz Cooney Center surveyed 1,557 parents of children between the ages of 2 and 10; they found that 44% of parents believed that children s television enhanced learning. In addition, the center reported that 78% of parents of children between the ages of two and five believed that educational television improved their children s language and cognitive development. The burgeoning years of language development are not only capricious and vulnerable in nature, but they are also easily influenced by external factors. Therefore, it is imperative to evaluate the effects of children s television on language development. Children s television negatively impacts language development because it impedes word acquisition, delays language acquisitionand negatively affects literacy outcomes. Educational television negatively impacts language development because it hampers vocabulary acquisition. Vocabulary acquisition is characterized by an infant s first words and word spurt (i.e., the rapid growth in a child s vocabulary). Zimmerman, Christakis and Meltzoff (2007) investigated the relationship between media exposure and language development in children under two years of age. 1,008 parents of children between the ages of two months and ... • 7. Essay On Supremacy Clause Supremacy Clause Are South Coast s fleet rules preempted by the federal Clean Air Act? (Cheeseman 79) The Supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution establishes that the federal constitution, and federal law generally, take precedence over state laws, and even state constitutions. While in this particular matter, the statutes of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) would generally trump the state level regulations of organizations such as the California Air Resources Board (CARB), however the EPA has also mandated that The setting of these pollutant standards was coupled with directing the states to develop state implementation plans (SIPs), applicable to appropriate industrial sources in the state, in order to achieve these standards. (EPA, 2015) The standards in questions are called National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Often times these more stringent standards are put in place by the EPA as federal standards after research and testing has been accomplished by those states. An example of this is the required use of Catalytic converters on pollution controlled motor vehicles in 1974 in California, two years later in 1976, the EPA required the use of Catalytic converters on all pollution controlled motor vehicles nationwide. Due to the fact that South Coast s standards are more stringent than federal standards, the association would find that the Supreme Court is more likely to uphold the decisions of the lower courts; at that time, it is then set at the highest level court and future court cases will have to look at that precedent as the standard. If the South Coast standard were set at a lower level than the federal standard established by the EPA, then this is a situation where the Supremacy clause of the Constitution would come into play in order to mandate compliance with federal law. • 8. Comparing Social Norms in My Last Duchess by Robert... When one travels, it is easy to observe differences in social norms from country to country. One may also observe differences within a country, for example, the social norms of a small town or village versus those of a large metropolis. Differences in social norms can also be observed in literature. This essay will focus on two dramatic monologues, which were written by poets who lived in England during the same period. Robert Browningpublished My last Duchessin 1842, the same year that Alfred Tennyson published Ulysses. Both poets lived in England during the Victorian era. However, by examining characters from their poetry, namely Alfonso in My Last Duchess and Odysseus in Ulysses, we can see that they express opposite norms concerning... Instead, he chooses to leave the sceptre and the isle to his son, Telemachus (Line 34) (Tennyson 645). Then he says, When I am gone. [Telemachus] works his works (Line 43) (Tennyson 645). For this, he has no hesitation to lose his power over people. [He] cannot rest from travel: [He] will drink Life to the less: all times [he has] enjoyed Greatly, [has] a suffered greatly (Line 6 8) (Tennyson 645). Odysseus feels comfort from going around in his past, but now he can t feel it from unchanged things like staying only in his island to do almost same thing every day. As he says that how dull it is to pauses, resting from his journey is not a great moment for him (Line 22) (Tennyson 645). As we can expect, he should live in luxury more than the other people in his country because he is a kind. But, he expresses that as to rust unburnished, not to shine in use (Line 23) (Tennyson 645). Life that he is away from finding new things doesn t mean anything for him. What s more, he mentions that gleams that untravelled world (Line 20) (Tennyson 645). Odysseus considers the something new shines on his life and to meet a change isn t fear. However, Alfonso is opposite from Odysseus. He is afraid of something changes. • 9. Hawthorne Effect Ethnography Miguel Huerta Anth 232 Dr. English Lueck 3/14/17 Write up 4 (Design Chpt 8 9) Physical space can inform researchers on how people interact with that space, and influence social behavior. Applied anthropologists have a very important tool in their practitioner s toolkit that allows them to disseminate behavior, actions, and help create spaces that will meet the needs of the population using ethnography. Ethnography allows practitioners to use their observational skills to improve the design of a product, landscape, environment, or assist with an infrastructural design based on the needs of the individuals that will access such facilities (Rijsberman 2012). To do so, it is extremely important to know the impact of physical surroundings and environmental behavior and understand that environments have a strong influence on people s interaction with the physical landscape. The chapters assigned for this week focused on observing physical spaces and observing environmental behavior. It is important to observe physical traces, physical surroundings, which display how people interact with other individuals and that environment (Zeisel 2006). One of the big topics of chapter 8 was how individuals change their environment to meet their needs. For example, this can be observed when individuals create their own walkway or path. When Did Samuel Wrote The Book Of Judges The book of Judges is an extremely interesting book in the Old Testament that explains to readers that sin or failing to follow God s law will result in punishment. While there is no biblical clarification of who wrote the book of Judges, multiple sources suggest that Samuel was the author. Many come to this conclusion because of the use of the phrase in those days there was no king in Israel (Judges 17:6; 18:1; 19:1; 21:25) this indicates the book s composition happened during a time when Israel had a king. While this does not solidify the author s identity, there are verses throughout Judges that provide contextual clues alluding to Samuel being the author of the book. For the sake of brevity, one can conclude Samuel was the author.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each judge came after a period when the Israelites chose to disobey God s law. Berserk By Kentaroo Miura Character Analysis Communication between lovers can be very difficult especially if one of the two in the relationship had been raised with little to no affection shown to him and the only type of communication known to the individual is violence. Yet even through much struggle and growing as a person, it is still possible to learn how to love another. Such is the case with the main character Guts of the graphic novel series Berserk by Kentaro Miura. Synthetic fibers are the most widely recognized. Albeit there are numerous sorts of engineered filaments, glass, carbon and aramid strands speak to the most essential. Kevlar is a sweet smelling polyamide or aramid fiber presented in mid 1970s by DuPont. However, since times were different, if the victim decided to marry her attacker, he would ultimately evade the legal repercussion of his heinous actions. During the 12th and 13th century laws against sex, crimes began to change. The first law change assisted virgins that were raped. They were able to file a civil suit against the perpetrator. Therefore, this process would evolve into a trail by a jury. Finally, during the 13th century the criminal definition of rapechanged, yet again due to society changing. This new law stated that the rape of matrons, nuns, widows, concubines, and prostitutes, as well as the statutory rapeof children (Richards Marcum, 2015, p. 16) was now considered a criminal act. Taking a look at the United States, the rape law here consisted of five elements that must be met before it was considered rape in a court of law. The act had to be criminal, involve carnal knowledge, victimize a woman, and be committed using force, and the force has to be against the will of the victim (Richards Marcum, 2015, p. 17). The United States law had many restrictions that did not consider rape against spouses. This common law definition of rape was used until the mid 1900 s. White Privilege In American Society White privilege has been identified as the unspoken and often unseen advantages that white people benefit from in various aspects of everyday life, based on nothing more than the colour of their skin (Robbins et al. 2014:98). White privilege creates a social hierarchy in American society, in which white is normative, and at the top of the hierarchy, and anything else is deviant (Gallagher 2003:25). As a white person, this is something Cramblett would never have had to be concerned with in her own life. White people live with the privilege that they can bring a new baby into their family, their town, and their schools without worrying that their child will face discrimination based on their racialized appearance. Cramblett was therefore unable to recognize the everyday struggles of racialized minorities, until she was put in the position of having to make these decisions with the safety and well being of a non white person in mind. It was first depicted in an ancient document called the Essentials Of the Military Arts, which was completed in the early Song Dynasty (1043 AD). With a total length of 7.62 meters, this colossal weapon used three bows to shoot a single bolt. Despite its size, the Chinese generals would mount it on a pivot that made it extremely mobile and versatile, allowing it to turn in a full 360 degrees. According the Essentials Of the Military Arts, the triple crossbow would be mounted on top of a tower and the bolts fired were massive full iron and steel arrows almost the size of the triple crossbow itself, which could be fired over a mile. Other society classes took care of the cattle and fields of those from a higher class. Early Celtic Ireland was full of rearing cattle and growing crops. For other food, fishing, hunting, fowling, and trapping was necessary. The transportation of goods was done by the means of packhorses for land, and curraghs for water. A currah is a wicker framed boat that is covered with animal hides. However, a dug out was the normal watercraft. Dwellings were built using the post and wattle technique. Due to excavations, there has been proof found that some of these lodgings may have appeared as early as the Bronze Age until medieval times. • 31. Key Differences Between Sleep Apnea And Obstructive Sleep The topic that I chose is very dear to me personally. A few years ago, the year before I came to Southeastern, I began to have sleeping issues. I would stay awake for all hours of the evening and would become restless. At first glance, I thought that I had sleep insomnia and in the mornings, even if I got six to eight hours of sleep I would still wake up completely exhausted. It never mattered what I was doing, even if I would take a nap, the end results were the same: complete exhaustion upon waking up. After several months of this I began to complain to my parents and tell them that I felt that something was wrong with my sleeping. They never believed me at the beginning. After the summer, they still were unable to do much about my sleeping... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sleep apnea is characterized in a similar manner to hypopnea, a lack of airflow and oxygen levels at night whilst sleeping. However there are some key differences. Sleep hypopnea is a part of the obstructive sleep apnea family, and therefore has to deal with any obstructions that occur in the airways whilst sleeping (Phillips, 2015). Central sleep apnea, is another type of sleep apnea that can occur in people. This apnea is very different from obstructive sleep apnea. This apnea is caused because the brain temporarily fails to signal to the muscles that are in charge of controlled breathing. Obstructive sleep apnea is referred to as a mechanical problem, whereas central sleep apnea is referred to as a communication problem (Phillips, 2015). Central sleep apnea is much less common than obstructive sleep apnea and it can be caused by medical conditions that affect the brainstem. The symptoms of central sleep apnea are very similar to obstructive sleep apnea: stopping breathing or irregular breathing during sleep, shortness of breath leading to awakenings, chronic fatigue, excessive daytime drowsiness, morning headaches, poor/restless sleep, difficulty concentrating, mood changes, and snoring (Phillips, 2015). The treatment for central sleep apnea is by using a CPAP machine or a BPAP machine (which is very similar to a CPAP), certain medications have also been known to help stimulate proper breathing whilst sleeping (Phillips, 2015). Finally, the last kind of sleep apnea that can occur is complex sleep apnea. This type of sleep apnea is a mixture of obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea. Essentially, this type of apnea occurs because of slight obstruction and the brain failing to properly inform the muscles to breathe (Phillip, 2015). BPAP machines and Adaptive servo ventilators have shown successful use as the machines are capable of performing a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is what people who have pleural effusions feel. I chose to do my paper on pleural effusions. Pleural effusions are a collection of fluid in the pleural space, the cavity surrounding the lungs. Typically, there is 10 mL of fluid in this space to lubricate the pleura, however when disrupted by diseases such as pneumonia, pulmonary embolisms, congestive heart failure, or cancer, fluid begins to third space and collect in abnormal amounts. The biggest challenge then becomes dyspnea and tachypnea. This is because the extra fluid decreases pressure making it difficult for the lung to fully expand. Pleural effusions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prevention Respiratory Therapists are part of the multidisciplinary team. Patient education by all member across the spectrum is vital. In order to embed prevention measures in a patient s head, repetition must occur by all healthcare personnel. According to Liu (2014), primary prevention involves the education of pneumococcal immunizations to prevent pleural effusions from pneumonia. As previously mentioned, pulmonary embolisms are a common cause of pleural effusions, therefore educating about the importance of exercise and compliance with anticoagulants is significant. Educating early on about smoking cessation can help prevent pleural effusions in the long run. The average American has a fifth grade reading level, therefore use language that can be understood. Sitting with your patients at eye level while establishing trust and rapport will aid in their compliance with education provided to prevent pleural effusions. Patient education about prevention is often times bypassed due to time constraints, therefore educate and engage in conversation before, during, and after respiratory treatment. Pleural Effusions IV Pathophysiology Understanding what the human body undergoes when pleural effusions are present is important to truly prevent the recurrence of disease. Basically an increase in hydrostatic pressure causes pleural fluid accumulation. A decrease in colloid osmotic pressure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Pure Econom Ic Loss And Consequential Economic Loss There is a fundamental distinction between Pure Econom ic Loss and Consequential Economic Loss, as Pure Eco nomic Loss occurs independent of any physical damage to the person or property of the victim. What is common to both types of claims is that in order to successfully claim or even have a leg to stand on there must be proof of a duty of care having been broken. As long as you can show the defendant has breached their duty of care and you have suffered foreseeable damage then you can recover. The problem with Pure Economic Loss is that the classes of people who can recover is very limited. The Courts have tried to keep it this way in order to keep the number of claimants as low as possible. The fear is that if claims for purely economic loss are allowed then it would encourage more claims of this type. Chief Justice Cardazo from America stated Recovery of economic loss in the absence of physical damage or per sonal injury would expose defendants to liability in an in determinante time to an indeterminante class. This general rule applies in Scotland, meaning that if there is no liability for causing Pure Economic Loss, this is be cause of the Courts reluctance to open the floodgates to an infinite number of claims. The rules for how the Courts respond to these claims are set out in Common Law which has evolved over the years, where patterns have formed and have now established one of the vital legal frame works for Delict Law in Scotland. Here, at the beginning of the novel, a definite, though somewhat sarcastic, statement introduces the main theme of the novel marriageand, possibly more importantly, not love. His introduction to Elizabeth is not a pleasant one, although he is too ignorant to notice; she finds him a conceited, pompous, narrow minded, silly man . Her observation is quite correct, and illustrated to the greatest affect in his proposal speech. Farewell to Manzanar is a memoir written by Jeanne Wakatsuki who discusses how her and her family had hardships during the time of the Japanese American War. Diana Baumrind (1966, 1967, 1978) decided to find out the answers to those questions by determining what effect parenting styles, as interactions between the two dimensions of parental acceptance and control, had on children s social and intellectual competence. To start with, Baumrind identified four distinct parenting styles: neglectful, permissive, authoritarian, and authoritative. Neglectful parenting is a style in which the parent is very uninvolved in the child s life. These parents seem to focus more on their own lives and are not particularly involved with or supportive of their children. In society today, there is no such thing as the perfect woman or man. Everyone has flaws or different features that set us apart from one another. In the second stanza I walk into a room just as cool as you please, talks about how a woman describes her body to show self assuredness. Every action she describes how a woman can move a room as if she has complete control of that room. It shows that she knows what she is doing and has every intention of it. She knows that she may not be a coca cola bottle or a petite woman, but she is beautiful and can steal people attention if she wants to. This leads to the third stanza My inner mystery.
