In New Delhi, the per capita waste generation ranges from 500-550 g/day, with municipal solid waste increasing from 4000 tpd in 2000 to 7384 tpd between 2009-2011. The composition of waste has evolved, with biodegradable waste making up a significant portion, and various waste management processes are employed, including daily street sweeping and door-to-door collection. The collected waste is transported to engineered landfill sites, with a significant portion treated and a small percentage rejected.
