Team Building within the Gaming Industry
Introduction A team is a group individuals with various skills and assets working together towards a
common goal. The goals of the teams come in various aspects and forms that require the skills of all
team members. Team building is the process of enabling ones team or group in order to reach their
goals. Reaching the goal will consist of the Team s leader involvement in the few stages of team
building. Within the team building stages are sets such as clarifying the goals to the team letting them
know what the main priority is. The second stage is the Identification of all of the problems that can
push back the team delaying them from reaching the goals. Addressing the problems and enabling the
goals to be completed. Bringing the team together is essential when building a team this includes
getting along with the team and understanding one another as well as knowing their strengths and
weaknesses using certain activities. The importance of Team building is, bringing various individuals
to work together to complete a set or common goal. The Leader of the team use various ways to bring
the team together such as certain activities that involve teamwork. Team building activities help in
creating less tension within a team and building trust among the individuals. Within the team building

The Concept Of Self In The Passion Of Saints Perpetua And...
Every human has a different personality, a different cultural background, a different set of values, but
there are some aspects that all humans have in common. As a person grows up, they learn from their
own experiences and from those who surround them. The concept of self is explored by every
individual, but most importantly also by God. The role each individual plays in their family and in
their relationship with God leads them to developing an understanding of one s self. The aspects that
make up one s self and help to determine one s identity are sacrament, memory, and a moral
conversion.
A Christian woman tells a personal story that lead her to see her concept of self, even in what may
seem like the worst times. Perpetua, a well educated mother from a small North African village, wrote
a journal called, The Passion of Saints Perpetua and Felicity, which is the oldest surviving material to
be written by a Christian woman. (Tilley, Maureen A.) Perpetua is in prison because she refuses to
listen to the Romans and go against her Christian values. While in prison, Perpetua saw herself as the
martyr and God as the director of her drama. The martyr is someone who is willing to die for the
sacramental truth. Perpetua told her father, So I too cannot be called anything else except what I am, a
Christian. (Perpetua, III, 2) She was defending the sacramental truth that she refused to go against.
Her identity is just like a permanent name or object and it cannot be changed.

Disadvantages Of Storage Virtualization
STORAGE VIRTUALIZATION Storage virtualization is the process of grouping physical storage
from multiple storage networks so it is unique. Storage Virtualization is the process of presenting a
logical view of the physical storage resources to the hosts. Cloud storage is the other name for storage
virtualization. It hides the internal working of the storage devices from the host application. The
management and storage of data is easily carried out using facilities like backing up data, archiving
data and also recovering data in case of failure in less time. These facilities are made possible by SAN
(Storage area network) which is used to implement storage virtualization. San is a high speed sub
network which consists of shared storage devices. Storage virtualization allows to automatically
expand and reduce the storage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This separation provides greater flexibility to manage the storage. The virtualization system provides
the logical space for data storage and also maps it to the actual physical location. There can be various
layers of virtualization and mapping so the output of one layer can be passed on to the other higher
layers. Virtualization maps between front end and back end resources where the back end refers to a
logical unit number that is not presented to the host system and the front end refers to logical unit
number that is presented to a host system. The actual form of mapping depends on the
implementation. In block based storage a single block of information is addressed using a LUN
identifier and an offset which is known as logical block addressing. The virtualization software
maintains the mapping information of virtualized storage. The mapping information is called as
metadata and is stored in mapping table. Some implementations do not use mapping table instead they
use algorithms to calculate the location for storage. Dynamic methods can be used for this

Chicken Pox Virus
Chicken pox (Varicella) is a virus that is highly contagious by contact from person to person. Varicella
can occurs at any age in life, especially to those that are immune compromised, where they lose the
ability to fight the virus. Though Chicken Pox is not a deadly disease, it causes uncomfortable
symptoms, such as itch, rash, red spots all over the body. As for those that already have suffered from
chicken pox, the virus doesn t completely get eradicated from the body, but it stays dormant in the
coccyx bone. As it is an opportunistic virus, that waits for the body to have weak immune system.
However, the second occurrence of this virus is called Shingles; where it does not attack the whole
body, but only certain nerves along the body. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When chicken pox outbreak is suspected within the community; for example, an elementary school,
the first step the nurse should do is to isolate the case from their surround to prevent further spreads.
The second step is to confirm the disease to what is suspected by sending specimens to laboratory to
confirm. The third step after confirming that it is chicken pox, is to collect data from the case, and
others who they were in contact with. It is important to check all the case s history of health and
vaccination. The fourth step is to implement actions in caring for the cases suffering from the disease,
and also continue isolating. Performing patient and family teaching will help them understand what
and why things are happening the way they are. The final step is to perform notification of the
outbreak to the community. In this case, letters to parents of children attending the school. The letter
should explain what is happening, and recommendations for vaccination for chicken pox. Outbreak
cases also needs to be reported to local and state health

A Complicated Kindness And Catcher In The Rye
A Complicated Kindness is an adolescent novel by Miriam Toews, published originally by Knopf
Canada in 2004. Inspired by her experience as a Mennonite herself, Toews crafts a story around a
teenage girl known informally as Nomi. Nomi experiences the hardships of religious oppression only
to let her family give in first. Catcher in the Rye is, too, an adolescent novel written instead by J. D.
Salinger. Comparable to A Complicated Kindness, Catcher in the Rye saw some inspiration for the
story by Salinger s experience as an angsty teenager in New York. The resulting tale is of a young man
named Holden who abandons schooling and his wealthy home to find a place to belong. These two
narratives more than fifty years apart have some striking parallels about them. The central theme in
both novels is how the benefits to maturity are greatly desired by youth, but the path to ... Show more

The second dress lies on the barn roof initially, but once returning to the barn the dress was no longer
there. This is representative of Nomi s mother and sister, who had left to avoid waiting for death in
East Village by leaving and never returning. Nomi also states how she felt when she did not see it
there, saying, I had really been hoping that it would be [there] and when I couldn t find it I felt tired
and pissed off and hot and stupid (42). Her reaction to this missing dress can be applied to her feelings
toward the disappearance of her mother and sister. She is upset with her mother and sister leaving, but
she also feels daft for not leaving herself. To conclude, the dress in the dirt represents Nomi presently,
as she is sitting in East Village and waiting to be buried. The dress that disappeared from the roof
represents what Nomi wishes to do, as she wants to leave East Village to experience the rest of the
world and do something with her life rather than wait for it to

Motown Gordy s Accomplishments
Motown was, and still is an iconic place that has helped shape music and civil rights in Detroit
Michigan in the 1950s. Berry Gordy was born in 1929, and founded his music company in 1959. He
was married in 1953, had a family, and started working at Lincoln Mercury assembly line in 1955,
while working he would compose songs. Through family connections, Gordy encountered singer
Jackie Wilson s manager; he ended up co writing the Wilson hit Reet Petite, which came out in 1957.
Gordy also wrote Wilson s Lonely Teardrops and To Be Loved. (Kettler, Sarah.) Gordy tried to make
the company name by using his kids initials and came up with Jobete which did not stick so well so he
decided to open his open record company. When it was founded, ... Show more content on

He signed primarily African American artists and applied his principles, he learned in the factory
production to produce records and the creation of different groups. Gordy tried to move Motown
records to Los Angeles in 1968 after riots in Michigan while trying to diversify the brand, which didn t
go well and Berry had to file for bankruptcy, then later had artists leave for another record label
company. Berry Gordy sold Motown records in 1988 to MCA, Inc. for $61 million with a limited
partnership. Motown was a success from a number of factors, such as, economic, demographic,
educational, and musical in the 1900th century. Detroit was the fourth largest city in the US, until the
population went up to almost 2 million. Part of the population was 28.9% by the 1960s, which caused
a lot of racism. Black families who migrated to Detroit, were able to create a life for themselves that
were a lot better than being back in the south. Most did this to develop a sense of pride and dignity in
the culture and traditions that they brought with them. (McCarthy, Marie).

French And American Culture In The 1920 s
World War I, or the Great War as it became to be known, was a global war that was predominantly
centered in Europe. World War I had consequently left most Europe s workforce wounded, dying or
dead. The First World War left the global economy in a poor state. The post war period was a time to
utilize resources and rebuild economies through industrialization and agriculture (Moore, 2010). Life
in French and American societies significantly changed during the 1920 as both nations were on a path
of post war reconstruction, in attempts to revitalize their economies. Furthermore along with economic
changes, urbanization, innovation and technological advances had a significant impact on the cultural
change in both nations, creating the appropriate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often popular clubs would host dancing competitions to show off popular dances such as Waltz,
American Tango, Lindy Hop, and much more (Hadlock, 1965). Music made Flappers highly symbolic
to the 1920 s. Considered feminists, they became known as young women that defeated the social
stereotypes about women. Flappers were symbolic for challenging traditional and Victorian standards
of womanhood, characterized by their form fitting clothing shorter hairstyles and slinky jewellery
(Kyvig, 2004). Similarly in France, Dance novelties developed and like New Orleans and New York
City, Paris had a for the Charleston dance. In Paris, ballet was also a popular amongst Parisians in
1923. Music Halls came to replace cafe concert. Music halls like Casino de Paris were constantly
filled with audiences attractions and music in a fast pace environment. Music Halls became a very
popular venue for entertainment and jazz was still played by whites and black musicians had very
little recognition and popularity (Beik, 2009). The Moulin Rouge was a particularly famous cabaret in
Paris that hosted extravagant circus inspired shows. Along with Moulin Rouge was also the famous Le
Boeuf sur le toit , in French society however these events were mostly attended by the elites (Beik,

The Relationship Between Phonology And Morphology
3. The relationship between Phonology and Morphology.
The relation between the distribution of phonemes and grammatical units such as morphemes and
words is therefore an aspect of the interface between Phonology and morphology. Both Phonology and
Morphology study various patterns in languages all over the world. Considering the similarities of
these fields, both are engaged in the scientific analysis of languages. Both are sub branches of
Linguistics and without studying Phonology, one cannot move on to Morphology. There is an inter
relationship between these subjects. For differences, we can identify that Phonology mainly
concentrates on sound systems of a language while Morphology pays attention to the word and the
morphemes of a language. (Booij, 2007)
Then, in general, the interaction between phonology and morphology can be illustrated into at least
four points:
1 Phonological rules may precede the morphological rules. Therefore, phonemes are considered to be
the basic units of speech sound by which morphemes are represented. According to Kiparsky (1985),
there are two common word internal phonological domains, level 1 or the stem level, ... Show more

purely phonological realization would most likely assign to these three ending phonemic
representations /s/, /z/ or /ɪz/. On a morphophonological level, however, they may all be considered
forms of the underlying object //z//, which is a morphophoneme. The different forms it takes depend
on the segment at the end of the morpheme to which it attaches: the dependencies are described by
morphophonological rules. The behaviour of the English past tense ending ed is similar, it can be
pronounced /t/, /d/ or /ɪd/, as in worked, bobbed and loaded respectively. (Hargus, Kaisse1993 ,‫‏‬

Examples Of Racism In Dear White People
Racism is defined as a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and
that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Meaning that a race is
superior to another because of how they look. In the highly entertaining American drama film, Dear
White People was written and directed by Justin Simien, and released in the year 2014. The main
focus of the film is African American students and their perspectives under the light of escalating
racial issues in prestigious colleges in the United States. The movies show how racism is a system
based on advantages. The school, Winchester University, is a white ivy leagues school where they
have a minority of black kids. Throughout the movie, there are many comments about race, and
people are not afraid to say what they think, for example in the movie it is said that having just one
African American as friend is not enough to pass as a non racist. In the movie just the fact that you are
white is an advantage, because you get better treatment, and you are put in a certain category, you are
put in an inner circle. In the movie white kids are put together to living in the same houses while black
kids would be all put together in the same house. In the movie there are clearly certain moments where
people used their color as an advantage. An example of using color as a privilege, when they wouldn t
let Lionel in to a party just because he wasn t part of an excuse or elite group

Poetry, By Billy Collins, The Writer
Poetry comes in many forms, rhythms, tones, and meanings whether metaphoric or realistic. One
thing, however, which is a common trait of poetry, is that they all carry a message to the reader. In
some poems the message appears very clear and understandable, while in others, the author may hide
the message within metaphors and imagery. In the poem Introduction to Poetry by Billy Collins, the
writer enlightens his reader with an important message that poetry is something to experience. He uses
this poem to instruct and challenge the reader to search line by line for deeper meanings and purpose
within the poetry they encounter. The reader can read more deeply by using critical and analytical
thinking rather than taking poem literally. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last two stanzas, however, allude to a way of thinking that the message of poetry will simply and
vividly stand out and lead to a way that allows them to be taken literally or at face value. Also, the
writer s tone clearly shows in the last two stanzas: But all they want to do is tie the poem to a chair
with rope and torture a confession out of it. They begin beating it with a hose to find out what it really
means. (12 16) They emphasize the exact way of thinking that the writer is instructing against,
challenging the readers to use their critical thinking by example of the first five stanzas. Critical
thinking is what the poem Introduction to Poetry calls for the reader to draw on and is a skill that
people develop through time and experience. A report from The Institute for Academic Excellence
defines critical thinking as purposeful self regulatory judgment, which manifests itself in giving
reasonable consideration to the evidence, methods and conceptual structures within which a decision
is made about what to believe or what to do. Contingent on the learning condition of a classroom,
students should be acquainted with critical thinking and encouraged to begin practicing by the
instructors. To cultivate critical thinking, students need to be studying topics of interest. They need
meaningful discussions and exposure to others ideas in an atmosphere which supports the students
ideas and thinking. A topic of interest is most important

NAEYC Guidelines For Affective Development
Affective development can be defined as the emergence of the emotional capacity to experience,
recognize, and express a range of emotions to adequately response to emotional cues of others. Adults
play a very important role in the affective development in children. Now more than ever, children are
being raised in a very unpredictable world. Adults are now taking on a much greater challenge when
working with young children to help set the foundation for affective development. When it comes to
the educational side of affective development, teachers are given NAEYC guidelines to help in their
decision making. These guidelines are designed to promote competent young children. It is very
important when teaching or caring for children that we offer them a caring community to learn
(Charlesworth, 2014). The foundation of the community is consistent, positive, caring relationships
between adults and children, among children, among teachers and between teachers and families
(Charlesworth, 2014). What this ultimately means as a teacher, is that you need to provide to these
children a safe and secure place to learn. It is also very important to keep in mind that teaching is
about enhancing development, and ensuring that students know that you genuinely respect, and want
what s best for them. When teachers get to know their students, they can plan more individually based
on their specific needs. They are able to better prepare themselves to provide the students with the

Introduction Critical Infrastructure Protection is not just a national issue but also a global
responsibility. Perl Report introduces the importance of International Cooperation. The accrued
benefits increase the desired need to form agreements between nations to share necessary scientific
knowledge helpful in mitigating vulnerability. For example, the agreement between German and
Homeland Security of the United States provides collaborative measures and internal controls that
govern interaction between the two parties. Likewise, Secretary Napolitano s Letter of Intent projects
possible bilateral trade agreements between USA and Qatar, therefore, enlisting mutual benefits.
Finally, the paper indicates the effects of the latest natural disaster occurrence. The Federal

Critique of the Report
Perl, (2008) presents an interesting report that discusses the terrorist threat to critical energy
infrastructure. He goes further to suggest options for a response as well as identify some needs for a
proper response. As much as the presentation is precise and easy to understand, the author fails to
provide the much needed evidence to back his thoughts. For instance, he seems to over emphasize that
energy infrastructure is more critical than another unit, yet fails to provide sufficient description of the

Normal Stereotypes In Stargirl
Everyone is their own person. People change mostly due to fact that they want to be accepted. Every
once in a while you´ll find someone who is really themselves. In the book ¨stargirl¨ a teenage girl goes
to a new high school where everyone there conformed to one. Stargirl , whos real name is Susan, is
different. Different than everyone at that school. She wears outrageous outfits, has a pet rat, plays a

by far doesn t apply for the Normal stereotype.
Stargirl catches the eye of another student that goes to the high school as well with her odd behaviors.
Leo is one of the many normal kids at the school, who will soon acquire strong feelings towards
Stargirl. He has no idea what type of journey he is about to go through. Archie, who is a older man
that likes to somewhat teach the kids around the neighborhood. Archie is a major key in helping Leo
understand Stargirl and who she is. Stargirl notices Leo and gives her eyes pleasure. She then begins

This project was aimed at creating some reasonable forecasts of the trend of gas prices in the United
States in the next period of time, based on an analysis of a series of annual gas prices in the United
States from 1982 to 2011. These observations are essential in our delivery business because so much
of our expenses and overall operational costs are, in fact, based on the gas prices. The main objective
of this project is, thus, to analyze the perspectives of the evolution of gas prices in the next period of
time and, based on that, to determine potential preventive solutions that can help in lowering the
impact of a significant increase in gasoline prices over the next years. As mentioned, the analysis was
based on a time series with monthly gas prices from 1982 to 2011. Gas prices started at around $1.3 a
gallon in 1982, with the prices still affected by the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and the limits imposed
on imports from the Middle East because of that. In an overlook on the figures, these went below $1 a
gallon from 1987 to 1989 and then again, in 1999. From that moment, the prices have gradually

The Importance Of Curriculum Development
Curriculum Development: Theory, Meaning and Practice Xueni Li Final Project A written for EDFN
521 Dr. Rosaire Ifedi Ashland University October 14, 2017 1. Overview: The Importance of the
Curriculum Curriculum is often one of the main concerns in the educational field. What kind of
curricula should we offer to learners?...... Curriculum seems to be considered greatly as what teachers
are going to teach and, in other words, what learners are going to learn. In fact, curriculum is also
closely related to how well the learners learn the outcomes. Thus, as an umbrella term, curriculum
includes a lot of issues (Wensu, 2012, p.1). For example, what kind of content the curriculum should
have? How do teachers implement the curriculums? What about the assessment and feedback of the
curriculum? I am going to analyzing a curriculum document, the Common Core State Standards for
English Language Arts Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (I will call
it ELA document or ELA Standards in this paper) to shows how these issues are related to the
curriculum in the following paragraphs. 2. Why Do We Need Curriculum? Why we need a
curriculum? This is a question which has been put up by many educators. A curriculum is the essential
part of many educational institutions such as schools, colleges, universities. For these institutions, they
must have their own common standards to achieve teaching and learning process in other words, to

National Parks

What will you feel as you enter a national park? Many words have been written to describe the
experience, but nothing can truly capture the complete amazement as the breathtaking views catch
your breath. It s something you must discover for yourself at least once in your lifetime, if not time

parks, only your senses will tell the true story. In this research paper I will be discussing national
parks. I will be explaining what qualifies a park to be a national park, and two main national parks in
the United States, Yosemite National Park and The Grand Canyon.

Yosemite is surrounded by wilderness areas: the Ansel Adams Wilderness, the Hoover Wilderness, and
the Emigrant Wilderness. Yosemite national park has an annual visitation that exceeds 3.5 million.
Most of these visitors concentrate only on the seven main square miles of Yosemite Valley.
Yosemite is a 1,200 square mile park that contains thousands of lakes and ponds, 1,600 miles of
streams, 800 miles of hiking trails, and 350 miles of roads. Two scenic rivers, the Merced and
Tuolumne, begin within Yosemite s borders and flow west into the Central Valley of California.
Yosemite is famous for its high concentration of waterfalls in such a limited area. Although hundreds
of waterfalls appear in different places during rainfall, the primary waterfalls are:

My African-American Family
If you re the mother of an African American child then you ll appreciate my struggle. You know the

paternal side of the family are Carib Indians who originate from the Caribbean, so while she does have

Examples Of Hermeneutical Injustice
In this paper, I would like to argue that people with medical condition the is still misunderstood and
largely undiagnosed does experience hermeneutical injustice, rather than a mere circumstantial
epistemic bad luck as categorized by Miranda Fricker (2007). The argument provided by Fricker for
differentiating hermeneutical injustice and circumstantial epistemic bad luck is invalid most of the
time. This is because those patients continually experience unequal hermeneutical participation and
background social conditions that maintained the relevant hermeneutical gap. Before presenting my
arguments, I would first examine Fricker s view on hermeneutical injustice and the poignant case of
circumstantial epistemic bad luck. Next, the unequal social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even if questions about his feelings were being asked, questions that are opposing to the doctor s
judgements are barely asked. Patients are usually hermeneutically marginalized in a way that their
views are often being excluded from epistemic consideration. This may be attributed by the difference
in social position of doctors and patients. Doctors usually hold greater social power than patients due
to their profession. The power can be exercised unconsciously to marginalize the hermeneutical
participation of the relatively powerless patient groups. In the case of diseases that are highly
infectious and fatal, the usual response is avoiding contact with those patients instead of searching and
learning more information about that disease. Hence, the medical condition remains misunderstood.
Salient negative resources are more likely to be left in the hermeneutical pool because those are the
ones which are noticeable to the dominant group. True resources that captures the patients medical
situation and experience can be ignored. Hence, there is a prejudicial exclusion from the pooling of
knowledge, which is the primary harm of hermeneutical injustice identified by Fricker. Consider the
following case: there is a disease that has similar symptoms as being physically abused, in which
bruises and bone fracture are the common and frequent symptom. Patients with such disease visited
several large hospitals, but all medical staffs conclude that the patient has been physically abused and
refuse to agree that they are symptoms of a disease or investigate further. The medical staffs have used
the usual interpretation of treating the presence of bruises and bone fracture as a physical abuse in
preference of accepting the very unlikely but true interpretation held by the patients. Those who are
living or had close contact with the patients with such disease may be accused of physically

Persuasive Essay About Refugees
Refugees are people who are forced to flee a country because of persecution or because of serious
human rights abuses. Refugees can help with things like the economy and by letting in refugees we
can prove to Isis that we are not scared of them. Although it can be unsafe trusting machines to detect
anything wrong, we are letting in families that need help, not singular people that are just looking for a
place to live. Should refugees be allowed to come into a country that is peaceful and safe?
In the late 19 century, early 20th century Refugees from Russia, especially Jews, Mennonites and
Doukhobors, settled in Canada. The world had different opinions on this matter, but most of the world
took it as an advantage. The world took it as an advantage because the refugees can help and boost the
economy for the better. (Tess Fuller 1) The refugees come from different places all around the world
meaning that they come from different work environments. People from different countries know
different jobs better so that would help our economy because instead of having people working in one
type of job we would have different people from different countries be able to come and help us with
the jobs that we are not so strong at doing. Refugees can help with jobs like plumbers, construction
workers, and accountants, while we are good at jobs like doctors, social workers, and teachers. By
letting the refugees come into our country it would give more of a diversity to the jobs we are working
in right now. It would help benefit the world because there are a lot of jobs on high demand and by
letting them come into our country they can help us fill those jobs up.
One problem with letting in refugees is the security risk. Refugees are coming in from dangerous
countries like Syria, Iraq, and countries in the middle east. The reason they are leaving is because of
safety reasons, but how do we know that they are not going to create a safety risk in our country.
Refugees have to go through a lot of tests and they get searched before they enter the country, but can
we trust the machines to detect anything that create a security risk?(Huffington Post 2) . Letting in the
refugees can create terror acts just like what is happening in

Cause And Effect Of School Shootings
High school shootings have been occurring all over the country. All incidents leading to one or more
deaths: Jonesboro, Fayetteville, Edinboro, Pearl, Moses Lake, Grayson, Olivehurst, Bethel, West
Paducah, and many more. It will never happen to me, you could say, well, it could.y Behind school
shootings students spend one hundred and eighty days per year at school, they spend so much time
getting an education, but is the environment they re in actually safe? There are many causes of school
shootings and so they are effects.
The reality of the situation is that there are many numbers of reasons that a school shooting may
happen. There have been 142 school shootings in the United States since 2013, as indicated by a
record made by Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
There are many reasons we need to use for the reasons for school shootings however the most
prevalent one is harassing. According to nobullying.com, ¨Over 77 percent of students have been
bullied verbally, mentally, and physically. Each day about 160,000 students miss school because of
bullying or because of their fear of being bullied.¨ According to nveee.org, ¨86% of students said,
other kids picking on them, making fun of them or bullying them causes teenagers to turn to lethal
violence in schools.¨ When a student gets harassed or bullied it adds anger inside of them and hate.
The feeling of being picked on and having this negative attention can make a child act out or feel
hatred and somehow want a way to let the anger out. They could also have it all stuffed inside with all
of these horrible thoughts and one day decide to explode which could result in a horrible outcome.
Emotional wellness issues have been frequently shown another big cause of these shootings. Most
school shooters were mentally sick or demonstrated side effects of psychological wellness issues. An
opportunity for mental and psychiatric help could help stop these shootings. According to
newyorker.com, ¨, from 2011 and 2013, more people believe that mass shootings result from a failure
of the mental health system than from easy access to guns. Eighty per cent of the population believes
that mental illness is at least partially to

Haile Selassie King of Kings, Conquering Lion of the tribe of Judah
When Ras Tafari Makonnen took the imperial throne in Ethiopia in 1930 as Haile Selassie I, a new
movement was born in Jamaica. The crowning of a Black King? Was this not what Marcus Garvey
told his Jamaican followers fifteen years earlier when he said Look to Africa for the crowning of a
Black King; he shall be the Redeemer (BARRETT 8 1)?
Selassie would prove to be one of Ethiopia s most noble leaders. He pushed education for his people.
He made a valiant effort to drag Ethiopia out of its stagnant state of unpaved roads, minimal schools,
very little education and no say in international affairs. He looked and carried himself like a king. The

This only added to the Jamaicans belief that he was their savior. Whether or not he was the second

Haile Selassie was not the infallible savior that these people saw from their island in the Caribbean,
however. As true with most governments and monarchies, Selassie s government had its deal of
corruption. Although they placed their faith in a noble King, the Jamaicans were disillusioned about
the man they believed to be their savior.
The old Ethiopian legend of the Kebra Negast tells the story of the Queen of Sheba s visit to Solomon
s mighty kingdom to learn the secrets of being a great leader. While in his kingdom the Queen of
Sheba bore Solomon a son, to which Solomon gave a jeweled ring to prove his descent from the seed
of David. The Queen of Sheba returned to her land in, then southern Ethiopia, what is today Somalia,
with her son to continue to rule the land (GORHAM 9).
Between two hundred and three hundred kings are believed to have ruled between the time of
Solomon and Haile Selassie, the last emperor of Ethiopia.
Believed to have been descended from the seed of David, Tafari Makonnen was born July 23, 1892 in
the city of Harar in the eastern province of Harege (KALEIDOSCOPE). His mother died two years

In 1940, Richard Wright wrote a book that later became one of the greatest novels of American

Andy Griffith Show Research Paper
The Andy Griffith Show and I Love Lucy There are many American shows that are considered
classics. Two of these shows are The Andy Griffith Show created by Arthur Stander and I Love Lucy
created by Jess Oppenheimer et al. Although there are many similarities between the two shows there
were also a number of important differences. In this essay it will be argued that many of the
differences between the two shows are the result of their different settings and the fact that they were
produced a many years apart. This resulted in a number of film making innovations that were present
in The Andy Griffith Show that had not been present during the production of I Love Lucy. The most
important differences between the two shows was their settings. The Andy Griffith Show was set in

The Andy Griffith show took place in a community that was usually in harmony. Most of the stories
involved something that disrupted the harmony of that community. This was usually something like a
stranger in town or a conflict between community members(Stander). I Love Lucy tended to deal
primarily with the struggles between Lucy and Ricky. On a wider level it can be considered a show
about the relationships between men and women. Also because the show takes place in an urban
center issues like jobs, going out and modern appliances were all important. The addition of new
people did not appear to be an issue in this urban setting(Oppenheimer et al). The settings of the
shows result in very different tones and pacing. The tone of The Andy Griffith Show is very
harmonious largely because it is set in a small rural community. The pace of life in this community is
very slow and relaxed so the show as a whole has a very slow very relaxed

Negative Theories Of Conspiracy Theories
For decades now, scholars have been trying to analyze conspiracy theories and their history and
influence on modern day society. Many academic scholars from various disciplines have dissected the
concept of conspiracy theories, and the different perspectives are essential for someone that is
interested in researching the theories themselves. Authors Cornel Zwierlein and Beatrice de Graaf
published the article Security and Conspiracy in Modern History, which focuses on the history
discipline of conspiracy theories. Brian L. Keeley, on the other hand, focuses on the philosophical
discipline when discussing conspiracy theories in his article, Of Conspiracy Theories. When

Including those works provides the reader the ability to research the information themselves in order
to see if what is being discussed is true or not, which is beneficial because it provides credibility to
what the authors are saying within their article. The supporting evidence the authors reference in this
particular discussion of the unbalance security of the ancient Greeks is Professor Joseph Roisman s
The Rhetoric of Conspiracy in Ancient Athens. They use what he discusses in this book, which is how
conspiracies have effected ancient Athens, and incorporate it into their own article. Referencing to his
work shows the reader that the idea of conspiracy theories influencing that epoch has come from other
reliable, academic sources. When writing research articles or essays, historians always make their
various points, but make sure to back up those points with historical facts and evidence in order to
prove that what they are discussing correlates to historical events. Graaf, et. al, follow through with
this technique all throughout their article: they paraphrase certain ideas from other sources and then
expand on them in their own words. Backing up their points with other works as evidence is extremely
compelling and makes the article stronger because it provides their points with credibility, and when
they expand on the works, it shows the reader that they understood the text well

One cultural shock revealed in the novel is that the Igbo people kill and dismember twins, Nneka had
had four previous pregnancies and childbirths. But each time she had borne twins, and each time they
had been immediately thrown away (Achebe 151). All twins have a similar fate: to be mutilated and
murdered (SP10). This is done because they think that twins are a bad omen sent by the gods, and that
they have the power to bring significant destruction to the clan. For many cultures this is a foreign
idea that would not even be considered. This culture shock helps to explain the Igbo society and how
they believe in the power of supernatural beings. Chinua Achebe also uses the term Ogbanje to show

The Impact Of Tajikistan On The United States Of The...
Tajikistan gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and in its short life has already seen
considerable amounts of turmoil. When it was first declared a sovereign nation it was plunged very
quickly in to civil war. The war led to a quick decline in the nation s economy. This war crippled the
nation leaving Tajikistan very weak in the June of 1997 when the war finally drew to a close. This
civil war weakened Tajikistan s legitimate economy and left many people to rely on the revenues of
illicit opiate trade . Tajikistan is slowly recovering from the effects of becoming a new nation, plagued
with war and drug problems early in its life, and this requires the government to find a way to end the
drug usage and distribution problem that grips the country along with the corruption of the state in an
attempt to improve the economy and living conditions of Tajikistan. There are many contributing
factors to the perfect storm of sorts that lead to the rapid increase in Tajikistan s status as a drug state.
One of the most important of these is the proximity of Tajikistan to Afghanistan. This proximity
allowed for Afghanistan to take advantage of Tajikistan in the midst of civil unrest giving the people
of the poverty stricken economy an easy way to make quick money. This was made easier for
Afghanistan by Tajikistan s lack of border regulations, allowing drugs to easily be transferred between
the two countries. Afghanistan shares a 1,200 km border with Afghanistan and

Summary Of The Novel O Pioneers ! By Willa Cather
Willa Cather is an author who uses similar aspects and events of her life and puts them into her novels.
This approach allows the reader to know what inspired the events happening throughout the novel.
After reading the novel O Pioneers! by Willa Cather, I began to search for ideas leading me deeper
into the meaning of the novel as a whole. O Pioneers! is a novel in which several of the key concepts
and character qualities can be better understood by learning more about the life of Willa Cather.
Aspects of O Pioneers! that involve the life of Willa Cather include where the novel is taking place,
the description of Alexandra s disposition, and the dominance Alexandra exhibits in her family.
Willa Cather decides to have the setting of the novel take place in Hanover, Nebraska. She is very
familiar with Nebraska because after her family moved from Virginia, this is where she grew up as a
young child and attended school (Baughman par. 2). At the start of the novel, Hanover, Nebraska is, A
cluster of low drab buildings huddled on the gray prairie, under a gray sky (Cather 1.1.1). The town is
being given a strong, gloomy, and dark feeling similar to what her childhood must have been like. We
then begin to see glimpses of this appear when we introduce the main character Alexandra and life in
Hanover. Alexandra state s, Three big Bohemians were drinking raw alcohol, tinctured with oil of

Analysis Of Katherine Mansfield s Life
Katherine Mansfield was born October 14, 1888 in Wellington New Zealand. Mansfield was a well
known and respected prominent writer in the 20th century. She attended Queens College in London
with her sisters. Mansfield broke barriers for female writers in the early 20th century and even still
today. Her stories commonly focus on the theme of reality /world versus human nature while also
touching the themes of the darker and more complex sides of life. From Enheduanna to Jane Austen to
Charlotte Bronte to J.K. Rowling. Woman have proved over and over again that the role of author
and/or writer can suit females just as much as any man. Mansfield encouraged women to write and
used herself as an example with her own writing to try to attract more female authors. Often, women
are pictures as just people who birth babies, cook, clean, shopped and stayed around as house wives.
Sometimes, they did not have a wide span of education. Even in the early 1900 s women didn t often
go to college, it wasn t until the 1980 s that women began to attend college in equal numbers to men.
Poet laureate Robert Southey said Literature cannot be the business of a women s life. One of the key
assumptions that Mansfield and other women modernists faced was the habit of presenting narrative
fiction through male eyes and according to male values. Mansfield herself strived for everyone (not
limited to just women) to do whatever they wanted. She encouraged people to break rules and branch
out.

The Is The Trojan Horse
In the book Horror in Architecture, horror is defined in various ways, from horror being the truth
about abstraction to horror reorienting the notion that what exists is not necessarily all that might be.
Eight different typologies of horror are identified which includes Doubles and Clones, Exquisite
Corpse, Partially and Mostly Dead, Reiteration and Reflexivity, Incontinent Object, Trojan Horse,
Homunculism and Gigantism, Solidity, Mass, Stereotomy, Distortion, and Disproportion. The
typology I ll be basing my argument on is the Trojan Horse which has been defined by Joshua
Comaroff and Ong Ker Shing as a less obvious but equally disconcerting form of duality. It can also
be perceived as a lack of indication about what is going on within. This paper intends to discuss the
Trojan Horse typology of horror through the works of the architect Zaha Hadid who has produced a
number of projects that fit into the Trojan Horse typology of horror. Projects which include the Vitra
Fire station in Weil am Rhein, the MAXXI museum in Rome and the 1st floor interior design she did
for the Hotel Puerta America in Madrid, Spain illustrate the Trojan Horse typology because they have
unpredictable interior spaces which subjects the exterior to some kind of random or stylistic treatment.
Hadid was given full leeway to design the 1st floor of Hotel Puerta America. The interior life of this
project can be seen as the creation of an internal environment that shuns the exterior expression.

Smoking in Public Buildings Should be Banned Is it true that secondhand smoke can have almost the
same health effects as smoking a cigarette? Is it true that some countries have banned smoking in
public buildings already? Is it easy to guess how those bans turned out? The countries that banned
smoking in public buildings are experiencing fewer health problems in their citizens and have had no
negative economic effects due to the ban. Even though everyone should be able to do what they want,
where they want if it is not hurting anyone, smoking should be banned in public buildings because it
causes health and environmental problems. Smoking causes health problems for everyone around the
world, not just people near smokers. Most people know that smoking can cause countless health
problems; a group of scientists conducted a study showing the effects of secondhand smoke in
nonsmokers. The scientists knew in 2004 that, on a worldwide scale, the health concerns created by
exposure to tobacco smoke for nonsmokers were not well known. They tested people and found the
effects from worldwide exposure in children and adults, and these statistics have probably risen in the
past ten years (Öberg, Jaakkola, Woodward, Peruga, Prüss Ustün). They found that Worldwide, 40%
of children, 33% of male non smokers, and 35% of female non smokers were exposed to second hand
smoke in 2004. This exposure was estimated to have caused 379,000 deaths from ischaemic heart
disease, also known as

Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di’s Mausoleum
Qin Shi Haung Di was the first emperor of the Qin Empire in China during the 3rd century BCE. Born
in 261 BCE, Haung inherited the throne from his father at the early age of 13 and showcased his
ambitious spirit by unifying China and creating his empire (Swart 1984). While he is known mostly
for building the Great Wall of China, he also left quite a legacy when it comes to his elaborate burial
grounds. In 246 BCE, thirty six years before his death in 210 BCE, Emperor Qin started planning the
construction of his extravagant final resting place (Swart 1984). The Emperor s mausoleum was
essentially a small, underground city showcasing Qin s power and influence using different artistic
mediums. The site of Emperor Haung s tomb is located in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows us that the belief in the magical and unknown, like death, was of some importance to the
Emperor. Artistically, Emperor Qin final resting place is a goldmine of information. Not only were the
sculptures ornate and somewhat realistic especially for the time period they were created in most of
them were actually painted so they would be more colorful (Patel 2007). Every terracotta warrior was
painted after they were sculpted. What is most amazing about the painting of the warriors was the fact
that their color selection included purple. While there were red and blue pigments that could be mixed,
the ancient world never mastered a true purple color, except for a brief time in China during the Qin
and Han dynasties (Patel 2007). The color itself was discovered in 1992 and is a purple barium copper
silicate inorganic pigment that was manmade in the early 3rd century BCE. Other than being painted
onto terracotta warriors, this unique color was also found on decorative pieces and pottery in Qin s
tomb (Fitzhugh 1992). The pigment created was described as a technological wonder, a complex
synthetic compound made before the invention of paper or any codified understanding of elemental
chemistry (Patel 2007 p. 25). The creation and usage of Chinese purple on elements in Qin s tomb
provided knowledge to us that was previously unknown about artistry in

How Does Lahiri Present Examples Of Unexpected Events In...
The train accident is a masterful example of the unexpected events in life and how different characters
in the novel react to them. This passage ultimately acts as a prompt for the immigration of Ashoke
Ganguli which consequently enables him begin a new life in America. The first aspect of this passage
is it s allusion to The Overcoat . Lahiri introduces the protagonist of this story in the line Immersed in
the sartorial plight of Akaky Akakyevich, lost in the wide, snow white, windy avenues of St.
Petersburg, unaware that one day he was to dwell in a snowy place himself She subtlety inserts
dramatic irony as she foreshadows that one day he [Ashoke] was to dwell in a snowy place himself

Her use of interior monologue is particularly important and reveal the most, as it brings to surface the
subconscious thoughts of a character which would not of otherwise. In this passage, Lahiri provides a
mass of details of Ashoke s surroundings which he is noticing while he is trapped in a sea of dead
bodies. Anaphoric use of he remembers emphasises the impactful blow this accident has bestowed
upon Ashoke s memories and the uncontrollable trauma which continues to haunt him afterwards and
throughout the course of the novel. While there is not one explicit description to wards the current
thoughts and emotions of Ashoke, there really is no need for explicit since the devastating mood of the
passage is already so well embedded in the rush of sounds and sensations vividly described in this

Cadbury Schweppes Strategic Dilemma of Trebor Bassett
Cadbury Schweppes is a UK based beverage and confectionary group founded in 1969 with the
merger of two English groups (Cadbury and Schweppes). This family managed group grew and
flourished through the years. It became an international major player in the late 80s and was admired
by its peers for such an ascent.
In 1990 the group bought two little entities from the same business and merged them into a single
unit: Trebor Bassett. The CEO of this unit soon became the CEO of the group (1993) and he then
realized that the success of the past years was seriously in danger and that a real turn needed to be
taken. John Sunderland (CS CEO) and John Stake (Human Resources Director) ... Show more content

Cadbury Schweppes was a global force in chocolate and sugar confectionary, had plants in 25
countries and sold products in more than 170 countries. The company defended its position with many
power brands, like Lion for instance. In 1996 the company had two major objectives: to grow
internationally and to get bigger. For example, the confectionary branch s goal was to sell 1 million
tons of consumption by the year 2000.
However, although the company was globally admired for its performance and its management, its
results were certainly not as good as believed. As evidence, the annual shareholder return was only
8.8% (Coca Cola offered to its shareholders a return of 32,8%). In addition the operating profit had
decreased yearly since its peak in 1994, suffering for a fall of 16% between 1994 and 1996.
2. A control and management system ...
Cadbury Schweppes had a complex control and management system, which we can define as a budget
driven decision making process and corporate control system: the budget had an essential place.
Indeed, every day the yearly budget drove all the company s strategic and operating decisions. The
meet the numbers culture was the one we could find in the company. Due to the preponderance of the
budget, Cadbury Schweppes top managers controlled over business units through extensive series of
mechanism, symbolised by all

European Imperialism In Nigeria
Christianity in Africa Nigeria s population is 40% Christian, but it was not always this way. After a
little persuading by European missionaries and British imperialism, more began to believe in
Christianity. Many say Nigeria is the creation of European imperialism. Europeans also brought
Christianity to Nigeria with them. As a British invasion started up in Africa, Nigeria was
revolutionized. European colonies began to scramble for Nigeria and take control. These colonies did
succeed in bringing their religion with them. Many tribes struggles to let go of their ethnic religions,
but soon began to accept Christianity and it expanded throughout Africa. It all began in the 1800s
when Roman Catholic missionaries returned to Nigeria after coming

Head Football Coach Essay
First and foremost, congratulations on becoming Head Football Coach at the University of Illinois at
Urbana Champaign. The implications that this had on the campus have been amazingly positive and
progressive. With this being said, here is a little bit about myself and how it has impacted me. I was
born in Akure, Nigeria on November 5, 1993. By 1995 my father was already in America trying to
find a way to bring get his wife, 2 year old newly born sons to America. By 1998 we were all on the
North Side of Chicago living in one room inside of a church and paying rent by cleaning the church.
Without having an education in America, the education they received in Nigeria meant little to
nothing, but they did what they could. My mom who previously was a teacher in Nigeria worked at
Kindercare Learning Center, Moving from the North Side to the South Suburbs in 2000, we lived with
my Uncle until my parents were able to secure their first home. By 1999 they had a one story, one car
garage, 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home at 17761 Harvard Lane, Country Club Hills, Illinois. The call
for ministry was always on my parents, and in the living room they began ... Show more content on

that, It takes a village to raise a child . I was 8 years old at the time and was trying to process that fact
that my father just gave someone else permission to spank me, I actually did get that spanking from
her. She used two rulers bounded by rubber bands to strike my outwardly extended palm repeatedly,
then preceded to call my dad. I hated it then, but that kind of discipline is what has given me the
respect I ve always had towards my educators, my administrators, coaches, and elders in

Investor Profile
Investor Profiles When it comes to investing, it is crucial to determine one s risk tolerance,
expectation for capital appreciation, income requirements, preferred portfolio volatility, time horizon,
and of course, the expected overall potential return. These characteristics are generally summed
together to form the investor profile of a particular investor. It will allow an individual to make clear
of their goals and objectives, determine their comfort level with risks and uncertainties, as well as
other valuable information necessary to make wise investment decisions in the future. There are six
standardized investor profiles described in the article, The things that keep investors smiling . They
are listed as: aggressive growth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goal of these investors is to protect their capital; therefore there is a much lower level of capital
appreciation. The time horizon of these investors is usually in a moderate time frame, ranging from
three to five years. What Type of Investor Am I? I would consider myself to be categorized under the
profile of a growth investor. I am a motivated individual who seizes opportunities as they present
themselves. Opportunities may not always be rewarding, but I am someone who is willing to take that
risk while others are in doubt. For this reason, I believe that I have a relatively high level of risk
tolerance. Many would say that risk is a double edged sword, but I see risks as opportunities with very
rewarding potential returns. It is true that the higher the potential return, the higher the potential loss.
However, I believe that with exceptional knowledge and wise decision making, risk can be reduced to
a minimal amount in which case, it will act to your benefit. I would not require regular income from
my investments as I am more inclined to maximize my capital appreciation. I believe that the regular
income would be much more rewarding if it was reinvested with a worthwhile investment strategy to
induce a greater capital gain. In addition, my investment horizon would be a longer period of time, as
the more risky investments may experience

Astronomy In Ancient Mayan Culture
There are many interesting aspects of the ancient Mayan culture that Americans today should know;
for example, they should know about their astronomy, their religion, writing, and their art. Astronomy
was extremely important to the people of Mayan culture and it was also a big part of their day to day
lives. Priests of the Mayan culture would spend nights upon nights studying the stars for hundreds of
years. According to Christopher Minster in the article Ancient Mayan Astronomy , ..They believed
that the will and actions of the Gods could be read in the stars, moon and planets, they dedicated much
time to doing so and many of their most important buildings were constructed with astronomy in
mind. What this quote is saying, is that the

The Leadership Challenge, By James M. Hinton And Berry Z....
the Introduction The Leadership Challenge, was introduced by James M. Kouzes and Berry Z. Posner.
It is widely accepted, and evidence based supported leadership model that has developed over nearly
two decades of research. While some seem to think that leadership only applies to those persons at the
head of a company or organization, that is not the case. Leadership is everyone s business and a
process that people use daily to accomplish extraordinary things while putting forth their best effort
and enabling others to do the same. People can achieve extraordinary things when everyone s
leadership capabilities are tapped into. In leadership, honesty is an important virtue, as in leaders serve
as role models for their subordinates. Honesty goes along way and is synonymous with other moral
characteristics for a leader to include: integrity, truthfulness, and straightforwardness. These
characteristics create trust, which is critical for leaders in all positions.
Great Leaders are those who have the ability to motivate and inspire people, transform values into
action, visions into realities, obstacles into innovation, risks into rewards, challenges into successes,
all while mobilizing resources to accomplish a goal or mission. In an effort to have employees
describe what they considered extraordinary leadership experiences using examples, Kouzes Posner
created a 10 page open ended questionnaire. The survey results revealed that the responses of the
questionnaires

  • 3. The Concept Of Self In The Passion Of Saints Perpetua And... Every human has a different personality, a different cultural background, a different set of values, but there are some aspects that all humans have in common. As a person grows up, they learn from their own experiences and from those who surround them. The concept of self is explored by every individual, but most importantly also by God. The role each individual plays in their family and in their relationship with God leads them to developing an understanding of one s self. The aspects that make up one s self and help to determine one s identity are sacrament, memory, and a moral conversion. A Christian woman tells a personal story that lead her to see her concept of self, even in what may seem like the worst times. Perpetua, a well educated mother from a small North African village, wrote a journal called, The Passion of Saints Perpetua and Felicity, which is the oldest surviving material to be written by a Christian woman. (Tilley, Maureen A.) Perpetua is in prison because she refuses to listen to the Romans and go against her Christian values. While in prison, Perpetua saw herself as the martyr and God as the director of her drama. The martyr is someone who is willing to die for the sacramental truth. Perpetua told her father, So I too cannot be called anything else except what I am, a Christian. (Perpetua, III, 2) She was defending the sacramental truth that she refused to go against. Her identity is just like a permanent name or object and it cannot be changed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Disadvantages Of Storage Virtualization STORAGE VIRTUALIZATION Storage virtualization is the process of grouping physical storage from multiple storage networks so it is unique. Storage Virtualization is the process of presenting a logical view of the physical storage resources to the hosts. Cloud storage is the other name for storage virtualization. It hides the internal working of the storage devices from the host application. The management and storage of data is easily carried out using facilities like backing up data, archiving data and also recovering data in case of failure in less time. These facilities are made possible by SAN (Storage area network) which is used to implement storage virtualization. San is a high speed sub network which consists of shared storage devices. Storage virtualization allows to automatically expand and reduce the storage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This separation provides greater flexibility to manage the storage. The virtualization system provides the logical space for data storage and also maps it to the actual physical location. There can be various layers of virtualization and mapping so the output of one layer can be passed on to the other higher layers. Virtualization maps between front end and back end resources where the back end refers to a logical unit number that is not presented to the host system and the front end refers to logical unit number that is presented to a host system. The actual form of mapping depends on the implementation. In block based storage a single block of information is addressed using a LUN identifier and an offset which is known as logical block addressing. The virtualization software maintains the mapping information of virtualized storage. The mapping information is called as metadata and is stored in mapping table. Some implementations do not use mapping table instead they use algorithms to calculate the location for storage. Dynamic methods can be used for this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though Chicken Pox is not a deadly disease, it causes uncomfortable symptoms, such as itch, rash, red spots all over the body. • 6. A Complicated Kindness And Catcher In The Rye A Complicated Kindness is an adolescent novel by Miriam Toews, published originally by Knopf Canada in 2004. Inspired by her experience as a Mennonite herself, Toews crafts a story around a teenage girl known informally as Nomi. Nomi experiences the hardships of religious oppression only to let her family give in first. Catcher in the Rye is, too, an adolescent novel written instead by J. D. Salinger. Comparable to A Complicated Kindness, Catcher in the Rye saw some inspiration for the story by Salinger s experience as an angsty teenager in New York. The resulting tale is of a young man named Holden who abandons schooling and his wealthy home to find a place to belong. These two narratives more than fifty years apart have some striking parallels about them. The central theme in both novels is how the benefits to maturity are greatly desired by youth, but the path to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second dress lies on the barn roof initially, but once returning to the barn the dress was no longer there. This is representative of Nomi s mother and sister, who had left to avoid waiting for death in East Village by leaving and never returning. Nomi also states how she felt when she did not see it there, saying, I had really been hoping that it would be [there] and when I couldn t find it I felt tired and pissed off and hot and stupid (42). Her reaction to this missing dress can be applied to her feelings toward the disappearance of her mother and sister. She is upset with her mother and sister leaving, but she also feels daft for not leaving herself. To conclude, the dress in the dirt represents Nomi presently, as she is sitting in East Village and waiting to be buried. The dress that disappeared from the roof represents what Nomi wishes to do, as she wants to leave East Village to experience the rest of the world and do something with her life rather than wait for it to ... World War I had consequently left most Europe s workforce wounded, dying or dead. The First World War left the global economy in a poor state. The post war period was a time to utilize resources and rebuild economies through industrialization and agriculture (Moore, 2010). Life in French and American societies significantly changed during the 1920 as both nations were on a path of post war reconstruction, in attempts to revitalize their economies. • 11. The Relationship Between Phonology And Morphology 3. The relationship between Phonology and Morphology. The relation between the distribution of phonemes and grammatical units such as morphemes and words is therefore an aspect of the interface between Phonology and morphology. Both Phonology and Morphology study various patterns in languages all over the world. Considering the similarities of these fields, both are engaged in the scientific analysis of languages. Both are sub branches of Linguistics and without studying Phonology, one cannot move on to Morphology. There is an inter relationship between these subjects. For differences, we can identify that Phonology mainly concentrates on sound systems of a language while Morphology pays attention to the word and the morphemes of a language. (Booij, 2007) Then, in general, the interaction between phonology and morphology can be illustrated into at least four points: 1 Phonological rules may precede the morphological rules. Therefore, phonemes are considered to be the basic units of speech sound by which morphemes are represented. • 12. Examples Of Racism In Dear White People Racism is defined as a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Meaning that a race is superior to another because of how they look. In the highly entertaining American drama film, Dear White People was written and directed by Justin Simien, and released in the year 2014. The main focus of the film is African American students and their perspectives under the light of escalating racial issues in prestigious colleges in the United States. The movies show how racism is a system based on advantages. The school, Winchester University, is a white ivy leagues school where they have a minority of black kids. Throughout the movie, there are many comments about race, and people are not afraid to say what they think, for example in the movie it is said that having just one African American as friend is not enough to pass as a non racist. In the movie just the fact that you are white is an advantage, because you get better treatment, and you are put in a certain category, you are put in an inner circle. In the movie white kids are put together to living in the same houses while black kids would be all put together in the same house. In the movie there are clearly certain moments where people used their color as an advantage. One thing, however, which is a common trait of poetry, is that they all carry a message to the reader. In some poems the message appears very clear and understandable, while in others, the author may hide the message within metaphors and imagery. In the poem Introduction to Poetry by Billy Collins, the writer enlightens his reader with an important message that poetry is something to experience. They begin beating it with a hose to find out what it really means. Critical thinking is what the poem Introduction to Poetry calls for the reader to draw on and is a skill that people develop through time and experience. A report from The Institute for Academic Excellence defines critical thinking as purposeful self regulatory judgment, which manifests itself in giving reasonable consideration to the evidence, methods and conceptual structures within which a decision is made about what to believe or what to do. Contingent on the learning condition of a classroom, students should be acquainted with critical thinking and encouraged to begin practicing by the instructors. NAEYC Guidelines For Affective Development Affective development can be defined as the emergence of the emotional capacity to experience, recognize, and express a range of emotions to adequately response to emotional cues of others. Adults play a very important role in the affective development in children. Now more than ever, children are being raised in a very unpredictable world. Adults are now taking on a much greater challenge when working with young children to help set the foundation for affective development. When it comes to the educational side of affective development, teachers are given NAEYC guidelines to help in their decision making. These guidelines are designed to promote competent young children. It is very important when teaching or caring for children that we offer them a caring community to learn (Charlesworth, 2014). The foundation of the community is consistent, positive, caring relationships between adults and children, among children, among teachers and between teachers and families (Charlesworth, 2014). What this ultimately means as a teacher, is that you need to provide to these children a safe and secure place to learn. It is also very important to keep in mind that teaching is about enhancing development, and ensuring that students know that you genuinely respect, and want what s best for them. When teachers get to know their students, they can plan more individually based on their specific needs. They are able to better prepare themselves to provide the students with the least ... Part II This project was aimed at creating some reasonable forecasts of the trend of gas prices in the United States in the next period of time, based on an analysis of a series of annual gas prices in the United States from 1982 to 2011. These observations are essential in our delivery business because so much of our expenses and overall operational costs are, in fact, based on the gas prices. The main objective of this project is, thus, to analyze the perspectives of the evolution of gas prices in the next period of time and, based on that, to determine potential preventive solutions that can help in lowering the impact of a significant increase in gasoline prices over the next years. As mentioned, the analysis was based on a time series with monthly gas prices from 1982 to 2011. Gas prices started at around $1.3 a gallon in 1982, with the prices still affected by the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and the limits imposed on imports from the Middle East because of that. In an overlook on the figures, these went below $1 a gallon from 1987 to 1989 and then again, in 1999. From that moment, the prices have gradually increased until the present time, with $3.167 a gallon at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Importance Of Curriculum Development Curriculum Development: Theory, Meaning and Practice Xueni Li Final Project A written for EDFN 521 Dr. Rosaire Ifedi Ashland University October 14, 2017 1. Overview: The Importance of the Curriculum Curriculum is often one of the main concerns in the educational field. What kind of curricula should we offer to learners?...... Curriculum seems to be considered greatly as what teachers are going to teach and, in other words, what learners are going to learn. In fact, curriculum is also closely related to how well the learners learn the outcomes. Thus, as an umbrella term, curriculum includes a lot of issues (Wensu, 2012, p.1). For example, what kind of content the curriculum should have? How do teachers implement the curriculums? What about the assessment and feedback of the curriculum? I am going to analyzing a curriculum document, the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (I will call it ELA document or ELA Standards in this paper) to shows how these issues are related to the curriculum in the following paragraphs. 2. Why Do We Need Curriculum? Why we need a curriculum? This is a question which has been put up by many educators. A curriculum is the essential part of many educational institutions such as schools, colleges, universities. For these institutions, they must have their own common standards to achieve teaching and learning process in other words, to decide what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Examples Of Hermeneutical Injustice In this paper, I would like to argue that people with medical condition the is still misunderstood and largely undiagnosed does experience hermeneutical injustice, rather than a mere circumstantial epistemic bad luck as categorized by Miranda Fricker (2007). The argument provided by Fricker for differentiating hermeneutical injustice and circumstantial epistemic bad luck is invalid most of the time. This is because those patients continually experience unequal hermeneutical participation and background social conditions that maintained the relevant hermeneutical gap. Before presenting my arguments, I would first examine Fricker s view on hermeneutical injustice and the poignant case of circumstantial epistemic bad luck. Next, the unequal social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if questions about his feelings were being asked, questions that are opposing to the doctor s judgements are barely asked. Patients are usually hermeneutically marginalized in a way that their views are often being excluded from epistemic consideration. This may be attributed by the difference in social position of doctors and patients. Doctors usually hold greater social power than patients due to their profession. The power can be exercised unconsciously to marginalize the hermeneutical participation of the relatively powerless patient groups. In the case of diseases that are highly infectious and fatal, the usual response is avoiding contact with those patients instead of searching and learning more information about that disease. Hence, the medical condition remains misunderstood. Salient negative resources are more likely to be left in the hermeneutical pool because those are the ones which are noticeable to the dominant group. True resources that captures the patients medical situation and experience can be ignored. Hence, there is a prejudicial exclusion from the pooling of knowledge, which is the primary harm of hermeneutical injustice identified by Fricker. Consider the following case: there is a disease that has similar symptoms as being physically abused, in which bruises and bone fracture are the common and frequent symptom. Patients with such disease visited several large hospitals, but all medical staffs conclude that the patient has been physically abused and refuse to agree that they are symptoms of a disease or investigate further. The medical staffs have used the usual interpretation of treating the presence of bruises and bone fracture as a physical abuse in preference of accepting the very unlikely but true interpretation held by the patients. • 26. Persuasive Essay About Refugees Refugees are people who are forced to flee a country because of persecution or because of serious human rights abuses. Refugees can help with things like the economy and by letting in refugees we can prove to Isis that we are not scared of them. Although it can be unsafe trusting machines to detect anything wrong, we are letting in families that need help, not singular people that are just looking for a place to live. Should refugees be allowed to come into a country that is peaceful and safe? In the late 19 century, early 20th century Refugees from Russia, especially Jews, Mennonites and Doukhobors, settled in Canada. The world had different opinions on this matter, but most of the world took it as an advantage. The world took it as an advantage because the refugees can help and boost the economy for the better. (Tess Fuller 1) The refugees come from different places all around the world meaning that they come from different work environments. People from different countries know different jobs better so that would help our economy because instead of having people working in one type of job we would have different people from different countries be able to come and help us with the jobs that we are not so strong at doing. Refugees can help with jobs like plumbers, construction workers, and accountants, while we are good at jobs like doctors, social workers, and teachers. By letting the refugees come into our country it would give more of a diversity to the jobs we are working in right now. It would help benefit the world because there are a lot of jobs on high demand and by letting them come into our country they can help us fill those jobs up. One problem with letting in refugees is the security risk. Refugees are coming in from dangerous countries like Syria, Iraq, and countries in the middle east. The reason they are leaving is because of safety reasons, but how do we know that they are not going to create a safety risk in our country. Refugees have to go through a lot of tests and they get searched before they enter the country, but can we trust the machines to detect anything that create a security risk?(Huffington Post 2) . There have been 142 school shootings in the United States since 2013, as indicated by a record made by Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. There are many reasons we need to use for the reasons for school shootings however the most prevalent one is harassing. According to nobullying.com, ¨Over 77 percent of students have been bullied verbally, mentally, and physically. Each day about 160,000 students miss school because of bullying or because of their fear of being bullied.¨ According to nveee.org, ¨86% of students said, other kids picking on them, making fun of them or bullying them causes teenagers to turn to lethal violence in schools.¨ When a student gets harassed or bullied it adds anger inside of them and hate. The feeling of being picked on and having this negative attention can make a child act out or feel hatred and somehow want a way to let the anger out. They could also have it all stuffed inside with all of these horrible thoughts and one day decide to explode which could result in a horrible outcome. Emotional wellness issues have been frequently shown another big cause of these shootings. Most school shooters were mentally sick or demonstrated side effects of psychological wellness issues. An opportunity for mental and psychiatric help could help stop these shootings. When it was first declared a sovereign nation it was plunged very quickly in to civil war. The war led to a quick decline in the nation s economy. This war crippled the nation leaving Tajikistan very weak in the June of 1997 when the war finally drew to a close. This civil war weakened Tajikistan s legitimate economy and left many people to rely on the revenues of illicit opiate trade . Tajikistan is slowly recovering from the effects of becoming a new nation, plagued with war and drug problems early in its life, and this requires the government to find a way to end the drug usage and distribution problem that grips the country along with the corruption of the state in an attempt to improve the economy and living conditions of Tajikistan. There are many contributing factors to the perfect storm of sorts that lead to the rapid increase in Tajikistan s status as a drug state. One of the most important of these is the proximity of Tajikistan to Afghanistan. This proximity allowed for Afghanistan to take advantage of Tajikistan in the midst of civil unrest giving the people of the poverty stricken economy an easy way to make quick money. This was made easier for Afghanistan by Tajikistan s lack of border regulations, allowing drugs to easily be transferred between the two countries. Afghanistan shares a 1,200 km border with Afghanistan and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Summary Of The Novel O Pioneers ! By Willa Cather Willa Cather is an author who uses similar aspects and events of her life and puts them into her novels. This approach allows the reader to know what inspired the events happening throughout the novel. After reading the novel O Pioneers! by Willa Cather, I began to search for ideas leading me deeper into the meaning of the novel as a whole. O Pioneers! is a novel in which several of the key concepts and character qualities can be better understood by learning more about the life of Willa Cather. Aspects of O Pioneers! that involve the life of Willa Cather include where the novel is taking place, the description of Alexandra s disposition, and the dominance Alexandra exhibits in her family. Willa Cather decides to have the setting of the novel take place in Hanover, Nebraska. She is very familiar with Nebraska because after her family moved from Virginia, this is where she grew up as a young child and attended school (Baughman par. 2). At the start of the novel, Hanover, Nebraska is, A cluster of low drab buildings huddled on the gray prairie, under a gray sky (Cather 1.1.1). The town is being given a strong, gloomy, and dark feeling similar to what her childhood must have been like. We then begin to see glimpses of this appear when we introduce the main character Alexandra and life in Hanover. Alexandra state s, Three big Bohemians were drinking raw alcohol, tinctured with oil of cinnamon. This was said to fortify one effectually against the cold, and they smacked ... • 41. Analysis Of Katherine Mansfield s Life Katherine Mansfield was born October 14, 1888 in Wellington New Zealand. Mansfield was a well known and respected prominent writer in the 20th century. She attended Queens College in London with her sisters. Mansfield broke barriers for female writers in the early 20th century and even still today. Her stories commonly focus on the theme of reality /world versus human nature while also touching the themes of the darker and more complex sides of life. From Enheduanna to Jane Austen to Charlotte Bronte to J.K. Rowling. Woman have proved over and over again that the role of author and/or writer can suit females just as much as any man. Mansfield encouraged women to write and used herself as an example with her own writing to try to attract more female authors. Often, women are pictures as just people who birth babies, cook, clean, shopped and stayed around as house wives. Sometimes, they did not have a wide span of education. Even in the early 1900 s women didn t often go to college, it wasn t until the 1980 s that women began to attend college in equal numbers to men. Poet laureate Robert Southey said Literature cannot be the business of a women s life. One of the key assumptions that Mansfield and other women modernists faced was the habit of presenting narrative fiction through male eyes and according to male values. Mansfield herself strived for everyone (not limited to just women) to do whatever they wanted. She encouraged people to break rules and branch out. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Is The Trojan Horse In the book Horror in Architecture, horror is defined in various ways, from horror being the truth about abstraction to horror reorienting the notion that what exists is not necessarily all that might be. Eight different typologies of horror are identified which includes Doubles and Clones, Exquisite Corpse, Partially and Mostly Dead, Reiteration and Reflexivity, Incontinent Object, Trojan Horse, Homunculism and Gigantism, Solidity, Mass, Stereotomy, Distortion, and Disproportion. The typology I ll be basing my argument on is the Trojan Horse which has been defined by Joshua Comaroff and Ong Ker Shing as a less obvious but equally disconcerting form of duality. It can also be perceived as a lack of indication about what is going on within. This paper intends to discuss the Trojan Horse typology of horror through the works of the architect Zaha Hadid who has produced a number of projects that fit into the Trojan Horse typology of horror. Projects which include the Vitra Fire station in Weil am Rhein, the MAXXI museum in Rome and the 1st floor interior design she did for the Hotel Puerta America in Madrid, Spain illustrate the Trojan Horse typology because they have unpredictable interior spaces which subjects the exterior to some kind of random or stylistic treatment. Hadid was given full leeway to design the 1st floor of Hotel Puerta America. The interior life of this project can be seen as the creation of an internal environment that shuns the exterior expression. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Smoking in Public Buildings Should Be Banned Smoking in Public Buildings Should be Banned Is it true that secondhand smoke can have almost the same health effects as smoking a cigarette? Is it true that some countries have banned smoking in public buildings already? Is it easy to guess how those bans turned out? The countries that banned smoking in public buildings are experiencing fewer health problems in their citizens and have had no negative economic effects due to the ban. Even though everyone should be able to do what they want, where they want if it is not hurting anyone, smoking should be banned in public buildings because it causes health and environmental problems. Smoking causes health problems for everyone around the world, not just people near smokers. Most people know that smoking can cause countless health problems; a group of scientists conducted a study showing the effects of secondhand smoke in nonsmokers. The scientists knew in 2004 that, on a worldwide scale, the health concerns created by exposure to tobacco smoke for nonsmokers were not well known. They tested people and found the effects from worldwide exposure in children and adults, and these statistics have probably risen in the past ten years (Öberg, Jaakkola, Woodward, Peruga, Prüss Ustün). They found that Worldwide, 40% of children, 33% of male non smokers, and 35% of female non smokers were exposed to second hand smoke in 2004. This exposure was estimated to have caused 379,000 deaths from ischaemic heart disease, also known as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every terracotta warrior was painted after they were sculpted. What is most amazing about the painting of the warriors was the fact that their color selection included purple. While there were red and blue pigments that could be mixed, the ancient world never mastered a true purple color, except for a brief time in China during the Qin and Han dynasties (Patel 2007). The color itself was discovered in 1992 and is a purple barium copper silicate inorganic pigment that was manmade in the early 3rd century BCE. Other than being painted onto terracotta warriors, this unique color was also found on decorative pieces and pottery in Qin s tomb (Fitzhugh 1992).
