This document summarizes several geophysical survey methods that can be used on snowmobiles, including cesium magnetics, IMAGEM, Ohm-Mapper, PROMIS, EM34, EM31, and EM61. Cesium magnetics uses a base station and rover sensor mounted on a sled pulled behind a snowmobile. IMAGEM uses transmitter and receiver coils on separate sleds to transmit alternating half sine waves and measure the response. Ohm-Mapper and PROMIS also transmit signals but have different receiver configurations. EM34, EM31, and EM61 are electromagnetic induction instruments with different coil spacings and penetration depths towed behind snowmobiles.
