Essay On All Gave Some, Some Gave All
All Gave Some, Some Gave All
A normal sitting at El Patio is pretty regular, but this time it wasn t so normal. Justin Lawson and I
were eating, when all of a sudden he received a text from an unknown sender. The message read Hey
Justin would you and a few of your football teammates like to voluntarily be the pallbearer for an ex
marine? His name was Mr. Hunter. Justin immediately showed me the message without thought I
wonder who we should ask to help, because we want the most respectful people we know. At school
the next day, we had gone around and asked a few of the people we thought we should ask, this was
nothing big, the funeral day would come, we would all go pay our respect and serve as the pallbearers,
and then we could go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next week we were on tv because Ralph Abraham had that same picture we took at the funeral on
a big poster and he was announcing our names, and telling a summary of what had happened, and the
event kept growing, and growing, until the picture and story of us, normal Winnfield, football players
had grown so much that we were on
trump news , but that wasn t it. The week after that at a pep rally, coach Banxton got on stage and
announced I d like to have everyone s undivided attention. I want to recognize the football players that
have made such and impact on not only me, our community, or the state, but the impact that they ve
made in this country. His had folders in his hand, he called out pour names, and we all went up on
stage to get these certificates that Ralph Abraham had sent us, all six of us standing on stage, and the
whole crowd gave us a standing ovation. Listening to the crowd with so much joy, clapping and
screaming, it made these other five men and I feel so wonderful. Knowing that we had touched all
these people just by this one simple action as being the pallbearers. The feeling, knowing that we had
done so much by something we didn t even know would make the newspaper, turned into something
nationwide, was one of the best feelings I ve ever felt. Couldn t be happier to say that doing

Restorative Justice Examples
The video clips expressed countless examples of Restorative Justice in various situations and its
benefits.
The first video clip talks about the acknowledgement of victims. It asked the question of whether the
justice system was interested in rehabilitation or punishment. In addition, there was acknowledgement
of the social connection. Restorative justice makes the criminal face the victim , to possibly allow the
families of the victims get peace.
The video clip that entitled the Continuum draws much of its attention to the concept of respect and
disrespect. The speaker stated that he believed respect or lack of respect was at the heart of victim
trauma. He stated that victims want vindication by revenge. Furthermore, this video clip

My College Journey
During my twelve years of school, I have grown accustomed to knowing the people and businesses in
my city, and they knew me. I didn t realize it, but the comfortable environment of knowing my
neighbors was limiting my emotional and social maturity. I did not have a reason to step outside the
box, because I was in a place of comfort. As I embark on to this new college journey, I will face many
challenges that will offer a fresh start, on beginning a new chapter of my life. There will be stumbling
blocks towards transitioning to college life. These blocks involve meeting new people, being self
sufficient, and adapting to my new environment. Although these challenges are difficult, I know there
will be many lessons learned. These lessons will only build me as an individual mentally and socially.
What I have learned during brief time at Xavier is that I am now willing to allow myself to fly in the
winds of life. I say that because, all successful people have had to overcome their uncertainties. For
instance, according to the article 10 Celebs Who Faced Their Fears on HuffPost, actress Sofia Vergara
had to overcome her anxiety of Hispanic viewers forming a new perception of her in order to fully
play her role as Gloria on the show Modern Family (Kuster) Another celebrity who had to defeat their
fear is Bob Newhart (Kuster). To become the successful comedian that he is, Newhart had to vanquish
his stage fright(Kuster). Like these successful individuals, I have some

The Big Black Smiling Mammy, The Sexual Deviant, And The...
The big Black smiling mammy, the sexual deviant, and the angry sapphire are historically depicted
images of Black women. Within the male dominated comic art world, Deborah Whaley s Black
Women in Sequence: Re inking Comics, Graphics Novels, and Anime offer a countervision on the
Black body. Women, especially Black women may welcome this book as a confirmation about
recognizing, representing, and reframing their story. For this audience, Whaley will explore the
historical, racial, and sexual representation of Black women in sequential art pointing out the
imagined Black body through interracial relationships, African fetishism, cultural politics, financial
gains and transnationality.
Whaley deconstructs the comic art world from 1930 to the present by questioning writers , illustrators
, and readers engagement of the mutual fabrication of the black female body and the
(mis)representation of black women in sequential art. She challenges how Blackness is produced and
the absence concerning Black female characters in mainstream comics, comic book writers have used
illustrations of and ideologies about the Black female body to signify the fetish, fear, and fabrication
of Africa (p. 96). Further, she debunks the White male inventions of Blackness and constructs an
argument why sequential art is a feasible form of understanding the visual narrative that reflects
popular literature, identity politics, history, and cultural production from women of African descent. In

Israel s Invasion Of Lebanon
Israel s 1982 invasion into Lebanon brought down the phase of Lebanon s political history, which
started with the 75 56 war. The civil war made a mark of trends that has been rising since 1958.
The civil war of 1975 96 had the Lebanese front against the Lebanese s national movement, which
were a reformist coalition and the Palestinian allies. The heart of the issue in this war was the change
in political circumstances in Lebanon. The political aspect and the economy were run by French
mandates. The government split each section s part of Lebanese seats and service positions. A
Maronite Christian would hold the presidency seat. A Sunni Muslim would hold the premiership and a
Shi a Muslim would hold the speakership. By diving the positions up to the power families it gives
deep roots to Lebanon s religious groups. The agreement to share the power was formally called the
National Pact in 1943. These transformations disputed the dynamics of power between the older ruling
families and undercut the authority of the state. An uprising in Sunni Muslim social forces brought an
increased labor movement and a deprived Shi a peasantry, which stood up against the ruling families.
The Lebanese national movement constituted the new social forces. The goals of this group were
expressed in 1975 to diminish the political monopoly, to destroy the government sections, and to
change the Lebanese state into a democratic one. This program showed the desires of the non

South Asia Continuities
In South Asia and Southeast Asia changes occurred due to the Indian Ocean trade network between

Southeast Asia contained was a strong economy by specialization as trade became more prominent.
Once the Indian Ocean trade basin became more notable, culturally, religions Buddhism, and Islam, as
well as adapting to some of Indian political tradition became a gradual change. Some difference is
how the Southeastern Asia used their advantage with their dependency on maritime trade. As well as

Precipitation Reaction Lab Report
Investigating the Effect of Concentration of Reactants in a Precipitation Reaction When solutions of
two soluble salts are mixed, a solid may form. This solid is called a precipitate, and the reaction is
called a precipitation reaction. Precipitation reactions are used to make insoluble salts. In this
experiment you will be exploring how concentration of reactant effect the amount of product
(precipitate) being produced (RSC, 2015). Magnesium sulphate is known as Epsom salts. This is
because the water found at the spa at Epsom in Surrey contains this salt in quite high concentration.
Epsom salts are rarely used nowadays, but were used in medicine as a purgative (RSC, 2015). Sodium
carbonate is found naturally in high concentrations in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was effectively completed by obtaining a number of data sets, calculating the average, then
producing a graph to visually illustrate the results. In regards to the hypothesis, it can be said that the
results are indeed supportive since a distinct positive relation between the variables can be observed.
As shown in the graph above, the (average) weight of the precipitate shares a directly proportionate
link with the volume of the Magnesium sulphate and Sodium carbonate solution. As expected in
almost any scientific investigation, errors of both systematic and random nature may have occurred.
These errors include, but are by no means limited to, inaccurate readings of measurement devices,
significant alterations in environment temperature, and incorrect ratios used to produce the solution.
First of all, the measuring cylinders used to measure the amount of liquid needed were read using
human judgement as a sign of when to stop. If these readings were not taken from a perpendicular
angle to the cylinder, the measurements may have been slightly inaccurate due to the observational
error that could have potentially occurred. Another possible error was temperature alterations. As
mentioned earlier, the temperature of the environment should ve been monitored and kept at standard
room temperature (approx. 22°C). If the temperature experienced any significant changes due to
weather et cetera, then the chemical composition of the compounds may have

Brexit is the name of the process of Britain leaving the European Union, which is the primary concern
of the modern global political situation. During the referendum on the UK membership in the
European Union, the main argument for leaving the union was that it would provide the country with
better system and tools of protection from the immigrants. UK citizen was concerned that immigrants

The first and the most unfavorable outcome of Brexit is that the UK would lose the trading agreements
with its largest trading partner European Union. The membership in this organization meant the
decline of the transaction costs and fees on trading operations between the members of the union. In
fact, European Union members have the free trade agreement, which means the free flow of goods and
services between the countries. According to BBC (2016) Britain has the negative trading balance

Urbanization Of The United States
When we take a look on our current life, we definitely will not be strange to everything surrounding
us. But what if we lived in the past and traveled to the present, we must be shocked by this great
urbanization in our city. What is urbanization? Urbanization is defined as the process by which towns
and cities are formed and become larger as more and more people begin living and working in central
areas. In Boston, the government sets up a freedom trail that reflects the history of the United States.
However, there is also a latest freedom trail that is constructed by my own, which shows how
urbanization in Boston was going step by step. The core factors indicated by this new freedom trail are
trade, immigration, education and manufacturing. Long Wharf is the first stop. It was constructed
around 1710 in downtown Boston. Why does Long Wharf play a determined role in the development
of urbanization? Going through the history, when the British colonists came to Boston, they were
seeking to find clean water for survival. They began to set up home around the Quonehassit and then
built Long Wharf. From the geographical point of view, Long Wharf was at the mouth of several
rivers extending inland, which made a naturally ideal port. At the time of the society and even today s
society, trade is essential in the survival of the community. By looking at trade between one colonial
and another colonial, and between the New England region and the other countries, Long Wharf

The author will use the number of visitors as an indicator of how Bali Bomb affected Bali s tourism.
This indicator is chosen because it s commonly referenced to determine the level of tourism
development.
To limit the range of the datas, the author only compares the number of tourists arrival, tourists
expenditure and tourists length of stay from 2000 to 2006.
To be added, this paper also only comprises data from secondary sources.
Tourism in Bali after the Bombings
Data from the Bali Provincial Tourism Office showed that the number of tourists arrival in Bali was
dramatically decreased in 2003 because of the bombing. The interesting part is in 2004, however, the
number of tourists arrival was actually higher than the number of arrivals before the bombing. To be
more specific, in January 2003 (three months after the bombing), the number of visitors only reached
60,836. On the other hand in January 2004 the number increasingly reached to 104,062, an increase of
71%. In February and March 2003, the number of foreign tourists were 67,469 and 72,263 people,
while in the same month in 2004 reached 84,374 and 99,826 people, or a rise of 25% in February and
furthermore, 39% in March. (Dinas Pariwisata Bali, 2010)
Although the number of visitors were quickly recovered, the length of stay decreased, significantly
lower than before the Bali bombing. In 2000 and 2001, the average length of stay of

Wonder Women: The Untold Story of American Superheroines is a film about the history and
importance of the famous DC Comic character, Wonder Woman. A psychologist named William

She did not rely on a man and always saved herself. Wonder Woman s creation was at a time while the
United States was at war. During World War II, women took their places in the working industry while

Women are now portrayed as stabbing each other in the back and being overly sexualized (Wonder

this leads to sexiness becoming the way of signaling empowerment . Young girls deserve better than to

Papaw Narrative
The year of 2014 was probably one of the craziest times of my life. I never thought things would go
this way. I thought I was going to be living life with my papaw by my side for a long time. I never
thought he would just go away so randomly. There were no warning signs, nothing. To this day I still
think about everything that happened. I can t believe he was taken so soon. I realize that God was
calling his name, and that it was his time to go. We had so many good memories together, and I
wouldn t trade that for the world. He was the best papaw I have ever had, and it sucks that he is gone.
I grew up with my papaw always being at the house. He would just show up to hang out. We d talk
and joke around. He never failed to make me laugh. I ll never forget half the jokes he always said to
me. Some of them weren t very appropriate, but that s just who my papaw was. I remember when the
phone would ring, and I would be the only one around to answer it. I would answer the phone and
some silly voice would come across the phone. It was always my papaw talking some crazy stuff. He
once told me that it was Smokey the Bear, and that he was there to control the forest fires. Some other
times he would ask for a pizza. There was never a time that you would answer the phone and not let
out a giggle. When I was getting ready to leave for Washington D.C, my eighth grade year, he came to
my house to see me before I left. He came to give me some money to shop with and just to joke

Kang s Argument Analysis
In the article, Net neutrality hits a nerve, eliciting intense reactions , Cecilia Kang discusses how the
pending repeal of Net Neutrality by the FCC and Chairman, Ajit Pai, is adamantly contested by most
of the Internet community and most companies, big or small. To develop her argument, Kang uses a
wide variety of appeals from established and startup companies, statistics and evidence related to the
reaction to the repeal, and demonstrations on how polarizing the issue is, and the repeal s effect on
solving the problem of Internet regulation. Kang cites a multitude of Internet based companies or
organizations, such as Mozilla, Google, Netflix, and Free Press, to demonstrate their concern and
clarify their resentment of the repeal. For instance, Google and Netflix argued that telecom companies
should not be able to split sites because that would allow them to become a sort of gatekeeper. These
responses better clarify companies concerns about the repeal and its effect on their business, while
also aiding Kang in developing her article on explaining the concern and the response it has elicited.

Using Alternative Energy Sources For The Uk Market Essay
1 Introduction All the vehicle OEM s are making a major effort to improve fuel consumption and

Manufacturer s Corporate Position As quoted in official company page, Ford s blueprint for

Research Paper On Alice In Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland Imagination; everyone possesses it and everyone utilizes it on multiple occasions
during their lifetime. In Lewis Carroll s classic tale Alice in Wonderland, a small, adventurous girl by
the name of Alice stumbles through a world created in the depths of her imagination: Wonderland.
While the nonsensical characters and seemingly insane laws of nature distract our minds, Carroll
weaves a theme into the story s fabric with miniscule hints, easy to miss. Alice s Adventures in
Wonderland exhibits a sort of duality; its purpose appears to be the entertainment of the masses, all the
while disguising a penetrating and emotional theme. Before exposing the overarching theme of Lewis
Carroll s tale, it is necessary to point out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From dealing with outrageous adult behavior to literally growing up too quickly, Alice slowly ventures
nearer and nearer to the adulthood and maturity that awaits here. However, she does not need to leave
her imagination behind her, in reality that is one of the few things she can never outgrow. Proving both
these points is the final few paragraphs of the book, in which Alice s older sister reminisces about her
own childhood and, for a brief moment, ventures herself into the wonderful world of Wonderland. Yet
it is possible that the original story, the one orally presented to Alice Liddell, was simply for
amusement as Lewis Carroll actually added several tales to the transcribed version of his fanciful tale.
Alice s Adventures in Wonderland serves two purposes. First, it amuses younger readers, taking them
through the whimsical world of Alice s imagination which is filled to the brim with kooky characters
and odd organisms. However, it s second purpose takes adults on a separate journey, a journey down
memory lane. Adults can enjoy a nostalgic ride through imagination with the emotional message of
never being too old to imagine. Lewis Carroll s masterpiece is certainly a literary classic, unlike Pride

Literary Analysis Of The House Of Mirth
House of Mirth is a novel that revolves on Lily Bart trying to find a husband in order to have a
successful life and gives a glimpse to upper class society in the late 1800s and early 1900s. For the
first passage, Selden ponders on Lily Bart. For the second passage, Lily talks to Gerty about her true
intentions of marriage when Lily is distressed about her current state and the choices she has made.
Through a close reading of the two passages, the diction, grammatical elements, and poetic devices
utilized in these passages help unearth the hidden messages of those passages. For the first passage,
through diction, the passage sheds new light. The words no less conscious convey that Selden was not
less aware about what people talked about Lily after getting to know Lily better through their talks at
his flat and Bellomont. The words the woman he knew indicate the version of Lily which Selden has
seen a glimpse of, which is Lily s true self. The vulgar estimate of her indicates the version of Lily
that most of her friends perceive. However, they fail to perceive Lily s true self, since Lily attempts a
façade in public. Another phrase is ... wisdom of the world seemed a groping thing... The words
wisdom of the world refers to the righteous judgment of society. The act of groping in this context
signifies to search with uncertainty according to the Merriam Webster dictionary. The words Selden

The Importance Of Racial Differences
1. How and when did you became aware of racial difference, what was the context of that realization,
ang what transitions you have gone through since your early recognition of racial differences.
Most part of my life was spend in Cameroon ( Africa). Racial differences was never an issues. We
never talk about race differences, but tribal differences. While some tribes claim to be the dominant
tribe others feel they are being marginalized due systemic corruption. For instance the government
influential persons like, the Governors, minister, divisional officers etc. would employed and pass out
opportunities only to people from their tribes. If by chance or some reason one happens to be
employed in that department, one is likely to experience the tribal differences.
However, as an African, at the age of 12, we learned about slave trades; Particularly which tribe was
responsible for capturing other tribe members, what techniques they used, how they were categorized,
how much they were worth but interestingly, how they were transported and treated at their
destination. Although there was relieved to know that, slave trade has been abolished but the incident
still stigmatized us and elevated our anger towards the betraying tribes. Before coming to America, I
know that African American are called niggers , a racial slur used derogatorily towards people of
color.
Learning about slave trade at the age 12, was when I became aware of racial differences, Although it
has been difficult to grasp the understanding or to put into perspective how white people the slave
master were treating slaves particularly Africans, but there is more anger towards the betraying tribes,
who were the dominant and privileged tribe at that time. Coming from an egalitarian point of view
slave trade was sinful and odious but most disgusting are those who sold their own people, knowing
fully well what their fate would be and for something insignificant. Some of the things that the were
use during trade by barter was pathetic; human beings were exchange for clothes, ammunition,
furniture etc.
However, even with the anger towards the betraying tribes, good came out of their action, for instance,
most African America have a better life

Federal Elections Committee versus Citizens United
The increasingly popular organization, Citizens United, is focused on circumscribing government in
order to decentralize power and place it in the hands of the people ( Who We Are ). Their firm beliefs
are rooted in the ideas that the founding fathers had for this country based on values such as common
sense, good will, and honesty ( Who We Are). Citizens United Productions, or (CUP) is an award

unable to donate money as a corporation would, thus making the votes of the people matter less.
In the post civil war era until World War One lived many elites who prided themselves on their shoddy
and commercialized wealth, which can also be said about the current political climate existent in
America today. In the era termed The Gilded Age, by one Mark Twain, there also thrived a great deal
of political corruption due to huge amounts of money that existed in the economy, similarly to our
current political climate. Due to an influx of immigrants that localized to urban areas such as Chicago
there were high concentrations of people in relatively small areas creating problems for the welfare of
people ( Gilded Age Scandal and Corruption ). As it is the government s responsibility to aid those in
need, it was still not enough for many. In causality, organizations were created to fill the gap between

Non Verbal:
Posture: Posture is a form of non verbal communication which can be used by individuals, this is the
act of positioning a specific part of your body in a way that is sending a message to the second party.
For example, shaking your head while someone is talking indicates that you don t agree with what
they re saying. Even the way you sit or stand can send messages to the second party you may be

types of treatment and its effects on sufferers. Furthermore, this topic would be about individual
physical, intellectual, emotional and social development (PIES). (Pies Revision. Pdf, 2016, p.5 8). To
begin with, according to World Health Organization (2017), depression is a common illness
worldwide, with more than 300 million people affected. Depression is different from usual mood
fluctuations and short lived emotional responses to challenges in everyday life. Especially when long
lasting and with moderate or severe intensity, depression may become a serious health condition. It
can cause the affected person to suffer greatly and function poorly at work, at school and in the family.
Depression can happen to anyone and many successful and famous people who seems to have

Frank
In this philosophical paper I will be examining the validity and effectiveness of Anselm s Ontological
Argument on the existence of God. I will begin by presenting Anselm s Ontological Argument from
the ground up. This includes the argument, basic idea, initial assumptions, Anselm s definition of god,
and Anselm s distinctions which are needed to completely understand the nature of my argument.
Furthermore, I will present concepts of logic and define what makes an argument valid, and circular
argument because they are necessary for understanding the validity of this argument. Following, I will
evaluate criticism of Guanilo on the Ontological Argument and how it affects the argument. I will
conclude by presenting my evaluation of the argument s validity and effectiveness. I argue that
Anselm s Ontological Argument fails, because the Ontological Argument is a circular argument and
relies heavily on the initial assumption which proves nothing about the existence of god.
Before, I assesses the validity and effectiveness of Anselm s Ontological Argument, I will present the
argument how it was presented to me in class. Anselm follows a basic idea that from the very concept
of God we can prove God exists. Anselm uses the definition of God to carry this argument. Anselm
defines God as that being than which none greater can be conceived (initial assumption). Anselm
cannot carry the argument for the basic idea without the

What Are Flashbulb Memories
Throughout our lives, we definitely have gone through a lot of experiences and made memories. Some
of the memories are easily forgotten, while some others are remembered distinctively, vividly and can
be recollected confidently. This is called the flashbulb memory. Flashbulb memory is like a very clear
picture of a particularly impactful event which had caused one to be affected emotionally. For
example, I remember this performance that my school choir was performing. It was during Christmas
season and we decided to spray bubble foam to portray fake snow. However, the plan backfired when
the wind blew at our direction and all the foam flew back to us. This was remembered very clearly
because I was embarrassed and had experienced something so

are parts of depression, social pressure, drug abuse, and family difficulties. All of these factors make
an adolescent feel overwhelmed and confused. There are many events that an adolescent goes through
before taking their lives. Finding rates of suicide vary in males and females because the males use
more fatal methods than females. What are the feelings that make adolescents take their own life? All
the information can be useful to help someone with the problem because it describes how help a

The case of Tyler Clementi is a clear example of bullying.
Feldman (2012) has noted that male adolescents are five times more likely to commit suicide than
females, although females attempt suicide more often than males (P.365). Males use more lethal
methods than females. Adolescent males use firearms, hanging, or jumping from height as method of
suicide while females tend to commit suicide by overdosing on drugs and cutting themselves. Parents
who own guns at home must unload, lock, and keep this item out of adolescent reach as a preventive
action. Parents must also control all prescription drugs in the house because it is easy access for
teenagers to harm themselves.
Occasionally, some people try to kill themselves just by putting their lives in danger, and they use self
destructive behavior. Some behavior are drugs and alcohol abuse, overeating, self starvation, bulimia,
smoking, reckless driving, stunts and dares, promiscuity and sexual risk taking, and those actions can
lead to injury or loss of life.
Suicidal Thoughts
Adolescents who are thinking about suicide often feel lonely, different. Here are some thoughts and
feelings that a suicidal adolescent may have:
I don t deserve to live.
I d rather feel pain than feel nothing.
I hate everything I just want to destroy everything.
I just want the pain to stop.
My parents want me to be dead.

Charles Dickens Biography
He is living proof of childhood corruption and portrays himself as his young, mischievous, and
perplexed characters Oliver Twist and David Copperfield. He proves that he is a product of the
Victorian era as he brings attention to the childhood cruelty, the less fortunate in an English society,
and the unwealthy dysfunctional families of the early Victorian time period. Charles Dickens reflects
these and other issues as he brings to life the realism of writing. While others were writing about the
way things should be, rather than the way things were, Dickens was challenging these ideas, and
argued that paupers and criminals were not evil at birth. This was an act of rebellion, for he in fact was

In the Victorian era, poverty became due to many reasons; a population increase, the search of
employment, and a depressing state of the shortage of housing. All of these points had a direct impact
to why there was the less fortunate in an English society. The nineteenth century saw a huge growth in
the population of Great Britain, and this brought the poverty line lower and lower in cities such as
London. Dickens, being affected by this, had a great impact on helping the less fortunate in the
Victorian time period by bringing to life the realism of the problems that the paupers, criminals, and
just plain poor people had. He did this through showing how the wealthy treated the poor with no
respect and with cruelty through his characters such as Mr. Bumble and Mrs. Sowerberry in Oliver
Twist. Although, Dickens brings attention to how not all upper or middle class people were always
cruel to the poor, through his characters in Oliver Twist such as Mr. Sowerberry, who was quite kind
to Oliver and was uneasy about being cross with him. Along with poverty being such an issue, there
were also the unwealthy dysfunctional families of the Victorian time period.
Charles Dickens grew up in a home where money was never a concern, until his father went bankrupt
and he was abandoned by his family which ultimately led to Dickens being a poor orphaned boy.
Dickens s dysfunctional family must have led to such families as

Memento Mise En Scene Analysis
Nolan uses mise en scene to further develop the audience s understanding and view of the protagonist,
Shelby and his psychological struggles in the opening scene of Memento. Followed by the non linear
editing, Nolan uses low key lighting to create a dark and dangerous atmosphere, which shows Shelby
as being vulnerable and in danger. However, the dim lighting suggests that Shelby is a murderous man
as he is holding the gun. This helps build tension felt by the audience by making them want to
understand who Shelby is and to learn why he has killed a man. At the start of the film, the audience
does not know his motive and become intrigued as they want to solve the mystery as to why Shelby
has committed murder. To further emphasise this, the setting is an empty, isolated room that is low key
lit. this is immensely ominous as all the features carries connotations of death. Shelby is wearing a
suit, which suggests that the film is set in modern society. As it is set in the modern society, it
accentuates to sense of danger and the ominous feel to the audience as it is seen as illegal and beyond
convention to murder. The sense of danger is elevated by the fact that the scene is directly after Shelby
has committed murder. It shows Shelby s unperturbed facial expression and a scratch on his cheek.
The cut illustrates that he has endured some physical altercation with his victim. Shelby s facial
expression is rather confusing and rather concerning as he seems emotionless after a

Kangaroo care as described by Dr. Susan Ludington, is more than just skin to skin contact. Kangaroo
care is having the infant s chest directly touching the mother s chest (Ludington, 2014). Kangaroo care
provides the opportunity for the baby to bond with whomever is providing the kangaroo care, mother
or father usually (Ludington, 2014). When the mother is using kangaroo care with the infant, the
infant is more likely to start breastfeeding, which is important shortly after birth so that the infant gets
the first dose of breast milk which contains colostrum, which is thought to be the babies first
immunization (Ludington, 2014). According to Kathleen Kuhn and Megan Kuhn, when using
kangaroo care with a premature infant, nurses will help decide when the best time to hold the baby is.
Some benefits of kangaroo care for the mother include a higher production of milk, the mother feeling
closer to the baby, help with coping due to the baby blues , learning to respond to the baby s needs,
increased confidence for the mother, and the initiation of breastfeeding (Kuhn Kuhn, 2011). Benefits
for the baby include sleeping better, crying less, regulation of body temperature, the ability to move to
an open crib sooner, better breathing, weight gain, preparation for breastfeeding, and more connection

Another reason of guests prefer to select a credible brand and it can help them save shopping time
rather then choose a brand and they do not know before. This kind of phenomenon can be found in the
luxury hotels, and some of the customers prefer to pay more money for room and services to decrease
their risks on their expectation, the service from the hotel, and the high quality requirement on the

The History Of Human Language
The history of human language is long, complicated and somewhat controversial. Even the definitions
of the word language are varied slightly. The Merriam Webster dictionary states, Language is the
system of words or signs that people use to express thoughts and feelings to each other: and one of the
systems of human language that are used and understood by a particular group of people: words of a
particular kind . Additionally, the American Heritage Dictionary defines language as, a communication
of thoughts and feelings through a system of arbitrary signals, such as voice sounds, gestures, or
written symbols . Between these two definitions of language we can see how complicated the history
of human language actually is. The definitions vary based on the assumptions of whether the writer
believes language is more learned or instinctive behavior. The debates on the origin of language are
still going on today. There are two basic views represented in the definitions of language. The first
view is based on language being primarily a mental faculty of humans to learn languages and the
biological differences that are unique to the human brain. The second view is concentrated around the
idea that learning a language is natural. While other views are more centered on the structured
learning of formal signs.

survival through the Holocaust. Not only did the novels tell their story, it also told the story of the

Spiegelman effectively tells the story of Vladek and his relationship with Vladek by using iconic

How Did Andrew Carnegie Contribute To Power
Andrew Carnegie is the perfect example of a rags to riches story. Mr. Carnegie started out as an
extremely poor immigrant boy from Scotland. He slowly worked his way up in the world, picking up

the steel industry and virtually created a monopoly. This made Andrew Carnegie an extremely wealthy

Loss Of Innocence In Laurie Halse Anderson s The Joy Luck...
In all our lives, there is a fall from innocence. A time after which, we are never the same. Stand By
Me. Innocence can be found at any age or any point in one s life. It means chastity, freedom from
wrong, lack of knowledge, SIMPLICITY. When one has innocence the world seems easy without any
worries, however that can all change when one loses their innocence. The loss of innocence can feel as
though one has fallen into a black hole and can never escape, darkness, voicelessness, LONELINESS.
In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club , Nadine Gordimer s Once Upon a Time , and Laurie Halse
Anderson s Speak , the authors use main and supporting characters to show a loss of innocence at a
young age. In The Joy Luck Club loss of innocence is expressed through the old woman from the
fourth parable, Queen Mother of the Western Skies . In Once Upon a Time loss of innocence is
expressed through the young boy. In Speak loss of innocence is expressed though Melinda. Although
all three of these characters go through the same struggle of loss of innocence, Anderson s character
Melinda is able to come to terms with her loss and regain her strength. In these three stories, Tan,
Gordimer, and Anderson use the theme of loss of innocence to portray loneliness, fear, and barriers to
show how one can learn from past experiences.
In the fourth parable Queen Mother of the Western Skies , Tan uses the old woman to show her loss of
innocence through flashbacks to her youth. As she plays with her granddaughter, the old woman
wonders what she will teach the child. She sees the baby laughing and the old woman recalls that she
too was once free and innocent , laughing for pure enjoyment (213). However, as time went on she
threw away her foolish innocence to protect herself (213). As a result, when she had a daughter, she
taught her daughter to do the same and shed her innocence (213). The old woman wonders if telling
her daughter to do so was wrong, for now she can recognize the evil in the world. She calls the baby
as if she is a high and mighty spirit named Syi Wang Mu , Queen Mother of the Western Skies and
asks her to answer her question. Continuing to call her granddaughter the Queen,

An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Literary Analysis
Romanticized stories are those that show an idyllic yet unrealistic view of reality. It s the picturesque
quality of romance that draws the reader in. One example of this is in An Occurence at Owl Creek
Bridge by Ambrose Bierce. In An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge, Bierce increases the impact of the
story s ending by romantically depicting Farquhar s escape and following the romantic portrayal with
a sudden snap back to reality. An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge follows a man named Peyton
Farquhar before, during, and after his execution. The ending of the story is told to seem like Farquhar
heroically escapes the execution and makes it back to his loving wife, however, in the last paragraph it
is made clear that the romantically described escape was just what flashed before his eyes during his
death. The romantic depiction of his imagined escape is what makes the ending so powerful. It brings
the reader on a happy journey before harshly turning back to reality. ... Show more content on

An example of these powers is his newfound strength. He watched [his hands] with a new interest as
first one and then the other pounced upon the noose at his neck. They tore it away and thrust it fiercely
aside, its undulations resembling those of a water snake (2). He s able to easily tear away the noose
from his neck while underwater, which normally would be an impossible feat. Along with exceptional
strength, Farquhar also seems to gain immunity to death during his escape. When fired at after
escaping the noose, some of [the bullets] touched him on the face and hands, then fell away,
continuing their descent (2). Instead of killing him, bullets just fall away from him in a romantically
ideal manner. Portraying Farquhar as having superhuman powers is one of many romantic

A Brief Note On Automated Idiocy And Technology
Automated Idiocy
Technology has become an every expanding subject and material ever since its first introduction to the
world. The largest expansion and introduction of new technology has been in the last decade.
Companies and organizations are replacing employees with technology. It can be seen and heard
throughout major and minor companies and organizations throughout the United States. A prime
example of technology changing an entire market is within the travel agency field. Before the Internet
and new technology, if one wanted to book a trip or flight they would have to go into a physical store
and talk with a human that would do all the paperwork necessary to purchase a trip. Nowadays those
stores have completely disappeared. What was once a store found in every shopping center is now
only find in a handful of cities through the United States. The physical stores have turned into
websites found on the World Wide Web and the humans have turned into software programs.
Challenges of Technology Service organizations are seeking a competitive edge by using new
technology assisted services for their customers; however, these technologies can backfire onto the
company with high costs to run the technology, challenges of the new technology and embarrassing
fails of the technology. One of the challenges of using technology to manage customer interfaces is
automated idiocy. Just as the phrase lays out, automated idiocy is the rush to automate service
functions often leads

Justin Lawson and I were eating, when all of a sudden he received a text from an unknown sender. The message read Hey Justin would you and a few of your football teammates like to voluntarily be the pallbearer for an ex marine? His name was Mr. Hunter. Justin immediately showed me the message without thought I wonder who we should ask to help, because we want the most respectful people we know. The week after that at a pep rally, coach Banxton got on stage and announced I d like to have everyone s undivided attention. I want to recognize the football players that have made such and impact on not only me, our community, or the state, but the impact that they ve made in this country. Listening to the crowd with so much joy, clapping and screaming, it made these other five men and I feel so wonderful. I didn t realize it, but the comfortable environment of knowing my neighbors was limiting my emotional and social maturity. I did not have a reason to step outside the box, because I was in a place of comfort. As I embark on to this new college journey, I will face many challenges that will offer a fresh start, on beginning a new chapter of my life. There will be stumbling blocks towards transitioning to college life. These blocks involve meeting new people, being self sufficient, and adapting to my new environment. Although these challenges are difficult, I know there will be many lessons learned. These lessons will only build me as an individual mentally and socially. What I have learned during brief time at Xavier is that I am now willing to allow myself to fly in the winds of life. I say that because, all successful people have had to overcome their uncertainties. For instance, according to the article 10 Celebs Who Faced Their Fears on HuffPost, actress Sofia Vergara had to overcome her anxiety of Hispanic viewers forming a new perception of her in order to fully play her role as Gloria on the show Modern Family (Kuster) Another celebrity who had to defeat their fear is Bob Newhart (Kuster). Within the male dominated comic art world, Deborah Whaley s Black Women in Sequence: Re inking Comics, Graphics Novels, and Anime offer a countervision on the Black body. Women, especially Black women may welcome this book as a confirmation about recognizing, representing, and reframing their story. For this audience, Whaley will explore the historical, racial, and sexual representation of Black women in sequential art pointing out the imagined Black body through interracial relationships, African fetishism, cultural politics, financial gains and transnationality. Whaley deconstructs the comic art world from 1930 to the present by questioning writers , illustrators , and readers engagement of the mutual fabrication of the black female body and the (mis)representation of black women in sequential art. She challenges how Blackness is produced and the absence concerning Black female characters in mainstream comics, comic book writers have used illustrations of and ideologies about the Black female body to signify the fetish, fear, and fabrication of Africa (p. 96). Further, she debunks the White male inventions of Blackness and constructs an argument why sequential art is a feasible form of understanding the visual narrative that reflects popular literature, identity politics, history, and cultural production from women of African descent. The civil war made a mark of trends that has been rising since 1958. The civil war of 1975 96 had the Lebanese front against the Lebanese s national movement, which were a reformist coalition and the Palestinian allies. The heart of the issue in this war was the change in political circumstances in Lebanon. The political aspect and the economy were run by French mandates. The government split each section s part of Lebanese seats and service positions. A Maronite Christian would hold the presidency seat. A Sunni Muslim would hold the premiership and a Shi a Muslim would hold the speakership. By diving the positions up to the power families it gives deep roots to Lebanon s religious groups. The agreement to share the power was formally called the National Pact in 1943. These transformations disputed the dynamics of power between the older ruling families and undercut the authority of the state. An uprising in Sunni Muslim social forces brought an increased labor movement and a deprived Shi a peasantry, which stood up against the ruling families. The Lebanese national movement constituted the new social forces. The goals of this group were expressed in 1975 to diminish the political monopoly, to destroy the government sections, and to change the Lebanese state into a democratic one. As shown in the graph above, the (average) weight of the precipitate shares a directly proportionate link with the volume of the Magnesium sulphate and Sodium carbonate solution. As expected in almost any scientific investigation, errors of both systematic and random nature may have occurred. These errors include, but are by no means limited to, inaccurate readings of measurement devices, significant alterations in environment temperature, and incorrect ratios used to produce the solution. First of all, the measuring cylinders used to measure the amount of liquid needed were read using human judgement as a sign of when to stop. If these readings were not taken from a perpendicular angle to the cylinder, the measurements may have been slightly inaccurate due to the observational error that could have potentially occurred. Another possible error was temperature alterations. As mentioned earlier, the temperature of the environment should ve been monitored and kept at standard room temperature (approx. 22°C). But what if we lived in the past and traveled to the present, we must be shocked by this great urbanization in our city. What is urbanization? Urbanization is defined as the process by which towns and cities are formed and become larger as more and more people begin living and working in central areas. In Boston, the government sets up a freedom trail that reflects the history of the United States. However, there is also a latest freedom trail that is constructed by my own, which shows how urbanization in Boston was going step by step. The core factors indicated by this new freedom trail are trade, immigration, education and manufacturing. Long Wharf is the first stop. It was constructed around 1710 in downtown Boston. Why does Long Wharf play a determined role in the development of urbanization? Going through the history, when the British colonists came to Boston, they were seeking to find clean water for survival. They began to set up home around the Quonehassit and then built Long Wharf. From the geographical point of view, Long Wharf was at the mouth of several rivers extending inland, which made a naturally ideal port. At the time of the society and even today s society, trade is essential in the survival of the community. Yet it is possible that the original story, the one orally presented to Alice Liddell, was simply for amusement as Lewis Carroll actually added several tales to the transcribed version of his fanciful tale. However, as an African, at the age of 12, we learned about slave trades; Particularly which tribe was responsible for capturing other tribe members, what techniques they used, how they were categorized, how much they were worth but interestingly, how they were transported and treated at their destination. I will begin by presenting Anselm s Ontological Argument from the ground up. This includes the argument, basic idea, initial assumptions, Anselm s definition of god, and Anselm s distinctions which are needed to completely understand the nature of my argument. Furthermore, I will present concepts of logic and define what makes an argument valid, and circular argument because they are necessary for understanding the validity of this argument. Following, I will evaluate criticism of Guanilo on the Ontological Argument and how it affects the argument. I will conclude by presenting my evaluation of the argument s validity and effectiveness. All of these points had a direct impact to why there was the less fortunate in an English society. The nineteenth century saw a huge growth in the population of Great Britain, and this brought the poverty line lower and lower in cities such as London. Dickens, being affected by this, had a great impact on helping the less fortunate in the Victorian time period by bringing to life the realism of the problems that the paupers, criminals, and just plain poor people had. He did this through showing how the wealthy treated the poor with no respect and with cruelty through his characters such as Mr. Bumble and Mrs. Sowerberry in Oliver Twist. Although, Dickens brings attention to how not all upper or middle class people were always cruel to the poor, through his characters in Oliver Twist such as Mr. Sowerberry, who was quite kind to Oliver and was uneasy about being cross with him. Along with poverty being such an issue, there were also the unwealthy dysfunctional families of the Victorian time period. Charles Dickens grew up in a home where money was never a concern, until his father went bankrupt and he was abandoned by his family which ultimately led to Dickens being a poor orphaned boy. Dickens s dysfunctional family must have led to such families as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Memento Mise En Scene Analysis Nolan uses mise en scene to further develop the audience s understanding and view of the protagonist, Shelby and his psychological struggles in the opening scene of Memento. Followed by the non linear editing, Nolan uses low key lighting to create a dark and dangerous atmosphere, which shows Shelby as being vulnerable and in danger. However, the dim lighting suggests that Shelby is a murderous man as he is holding the gun. This helps build tension felt by the audience by making them want to understand who Shelby is and to learn why he has killed a man. At the start of the film, the audience does not know his motive and become intrigued as they want to solve the mystery as to why Shelby has committed murder. To further emphasise this, the setting is an empty, isolated room that is low key lit. this is immensely ominous as all the features carries connotations of death. Shelby is wearing a suit, which suggests that the film is set in modern society. As it is set in the modern society, it accentuates to sense of danger and the ominous feel to the audience as it is seen as illegal and beyond convention to murder. The sense of danger is elevated by the fact that the scene is directly after Shelby has committed murder. It shows Shelby s unperturbed facial expression and a scratch on his cheek. The cut illustrates that he has endured some physical altercation with his victim. Shelby s facial expression is rather confusing and rather concerning as he seems emotionless after a ... For this baby, there are more developmental marks that become much harder to achieve, compared to a full term infant. In the neonatal intensive care unit, babies often are placed on or in machines to help them finish developing what would normally be developed in the womb. Due to these circumstances, what are some of the affects on the development of a preterm infant when they stay in the neonatal intensive care unit? Kangaroo care is having the infant s chest directly touching the mother s chest (Ludington, 2014). Kangaroo care provides the opportunity for the baby to bond with whomever is providing the kangaroo care, mother or father usually (Ludington, 2014). When the mother is using kangaroo care with the infant, the infant is more likely to start breastfeeding, which is important shortly after birth so that the infant gets the first dose of breast milk which contains colostrum, which is thought to be the babies first immunization (Ludington, 2014). According to Kathleen Kuhn and Megan Kuhn, when using kangaroo care with a premature infant, nurses will help decide when the best time to hold the baby is. Some benefits of kangaroo care for the mother include a higher production of milk, the mother feeling closer to the baby, help with coping due to the baby blues , learning to respond to the baby s needs, increased confidence for the mother, and the initiation of breastfeeding (Kuhn Kuhn, 2011). Benefits for the baby include sleeping better, crying less, regulation of body temperature, the ability to move to an open crib sooner, better breathing, weight gain, preparation for breastfeeding, and more connection with the mother (Kuhn Kuhn, ... Robert Smith s Mexican New York explores the transnational nature of Mexican migration through an extended cast study of migrants and their children from Ticuani, in Puebla, Mexico. This book covers the many ways that migration influences social, political, and economic pattern in both New York and Mexico. Smith begins by describing how Ticuani has been transformed by migration, changing the town into a sort of holding place for the very young and the very old. Next, he discusses how Mexican migrants fit into the racial, ethnic, and economic hierarchies in New York. • 40. The History Of Human Language The history of human language is long, complicated and somewhat controversial. Even the definitions of the word language are varied slightly. The Merriam Webster dictionary states, Language is the system of words or signs that people use to express thoughts and feelings to each other: and one of the systems of human language that are used and understood by a particular group of people: words of a particular kind . Additionally, the American Heritage Dictionary defines language as, a communication of thoughts and feelings through a system of arbitrary signals, such as voice sounds, gestures, or written symbols . Between these two definitions of language we can see how complicated the history of human language actually is. The definitions vary based on the assumptions of whether the writer believes language is more learned or instinctive behavior. The debates on the origin of language are still going on today. There are two basic views represented in the definitions of language. The first view is based on language being primarily a mental faculty of humans to learn languages and the biological differences that are unique to the human brain. The second view is concentrated around the idea that learning a language is natural. While other views are more centered on the structured learning of formal signs. • 44. Loss Of Innocence In Laurie Halse Anderson s The Joy Luck... In all our lives, there is a fall from innocence. A time after which, we are never the same. Stand By Me. Innocence can be found at any age or any point in one s life. It means chastity, freedom from wrong, lack of knowledge, SIMPLICITY. When one has innocence the world seems easy without any worries, however that can all change when one loses their innocence. The loss of innocence can feel as though one has fallen into a black hole and can never escape, darkness, voicelessness, LONELINESS. In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club , Nadine Gordimer s Once Upon a Time , and Laurie Halse Anderson s Speak , the authors use main and supporting characters to show a loss of innocence at a young age. In The Joy Luck Club loss of innocence is expressed through the old woman from the fourth parable, Queen Mother of the Western Skies . In Once Upon a Time loss of innocence is expressed through the young boy. In Speak loss of innocence is expressed though Melinda. Although all three of these characters go through the same struggle of loss of innocence, Anderson s character Melinda is able to come to terms with her loss and regain her strength. In these three stories, Tan, Gordimer, and Anderson use the theme of loss of innocence to portray loneliness, fear, and barriers to show how one can learn from past experiences. In the fourth parable Queen Mother of the Western Skies , Tan uses the old woman to show her loss of innocence through flashbacks to her youth. As she plays with her granddaughter, the old woman wonders what she will teach the child. She sees the baby laughing and the old woman recalls that she too was once free and innocent , laughing for pure enjoyment (213). However, as time went on she threw away her foolish innocence to protect herself (213). As a result, when she had a daughter, she taught her daughter to do the same and shed her innocence (213). The old woman wonders if telling her daughter to do so was wrong, for now she can recognize the evil in the world. It s the picturesque quality of romance that draws the reader in. One example of this is in An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce. In An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge, Bierce increases the impact of the story s ending by romantically depicting Farquhar s escape and following the romantic portrayal with a sudden snap back to reality. An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge follows a man named Peyton Farquhar before, during, and after his execution. The ending of the story is told to seem like Farquhar heroically escapes the execution and makes it back to his loving wife, however, in the last paragraph it is made clear that the romantically described escape was just what flashed before his eyes during his death. The largest expansion and introduction of new technology has been in the last decade. Companies and organizations are replacing employees with technology. It can be seen and heard throughout major and minor companies and organizations throughout the United States. A prime example of technology changing an entire market is within the travel agency field. Before the Internet and new technology, if one wanted to book a trip or flight they would have to go into a physical store and talk with a human that would do all the paperwork necessary to purchase a trip. Nowadays those stores have completely disappeared. What was once a store found in every shopping center is now only find in a handful of cities through the United States.
