What Are The Key Beliefs Of Christian Religion
Christianity emerged out of the first century C.E.; it is a monotheistic religion meaning it focuses its
beliefs and practices around one God. Christianity is also undoubtedly the most widely practiced
religion in the modern world with every country having a group of Christian followers. In this essay, I
will preview and briefly explain the key beliefs, practices, community and what the religion values as
sacred or ultimate. For those of Christian faith, they believe in Jesus Christ who they praise as the son
of God sent to forgive humanity for their sins; those who follow Christian faith often refer to Jesus
Christ as our lord and savior. Another feature of Christian belief is that the religion is monotheistic,
meaning that its followers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The followers of Christian faith also believe in what is called the Ten Commandments, also referred to
as the Decalogue, given to Jesus Christ and instructed that he pass on to his followers; these
commandments include direct orders from God that all those of Christian faith must follow and
practice. Baptism often referred to as christening is also a practice of Christian faith; with the use of
water, or Holy water is water that has been prayed over and is to be considered sacred, that water is
then poured over the head or the individual is submerged in to symbolize the washing away of sins
and the acceptance of Christian faith into one s life and dedication to Jesus Christ. Worship is also a
powerful practice in the Christian faith; attending church and prayer are all features of Christian
worship. Holidays celebrated in Christianity are Christmas, which is celebrated on December twenty
fifth for Western cultures and January seventh for Orthodox Christians; Easter is also a popular
Christian holiday celebrated between March twenty second and April twenty fifth. The reasoning
behind the odd dates is because Orthodox religions follow the Julian calendar which pre dates the
Gregorian calendar traditionally followed in Western

Summary Of The Negro Artist And The Radical Mountain By...
Langston Hughes has made many accomplishments that most people couldn t make. It was a great
challenge for colored people to express their feelings without going through a lot of trouble. Hughes
was successful in expressing he feelings. Considering the fact that he was half Caucasian and half
African American, he wasn t treated the way he was supposed to. So he wanted to do something about
it and change the course of history. On June 23, 1926, Hughes published a stunning essay called The
Negro Artist and the Radical Mountain. This essay captured the philosophy behind art and radical
problems faced by black artists. In essence, he talks about how a young Negro poet did not want to be
recognized as a Negro poet. Instead, he wanted to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We younger Negro artists who create now intend to express our individual dark skinned selves without
fear or shame. If white people are pleased we are glad. If they are not, it doesn t matter. We know we
are beautiful. And ugly too. The tom tom cries and the tom tom laughs. If colored people are pleased
we are glad. If they are not, their displeasure doesn t matter either. We build our temples for tomorrow,
strong as we know how, and we stand on top of the mountain, free within ourselves. Hughes clarifies
how colored people should pay more attention to their own beauty. Hughes sums up the life and
thoughts of young negroes like the young poet he described at the beginning of his essay. Another
great work of art by Langston Hughes was a poem called Harlem Sweeties. He uses the term sugar hill
and different shades of food to illustrate the personality and beauty of the melanated people of
Harlem. Some of these examples include descriptions such as coffee and cream, chocolate, walnut
tinted, coco brown, and many more. In another poem called My People, Langston illustrates how
wonderful his people are. He expresses the beauty of his people by talking about the beautiful night.
Not only does Hughes describe the people of Harlem in his poem, he also demonstrates the struggles
in his life that he had to deal with. Hughes has a white

The Importance Of A Greater Representation On Their Behalf
Question One: Individuals take part in interest groups to acquire a greater representation on their
behalf.
By joining an interest group their beliefs will be heard and it can effectively impact political,
government and enterprise ideas, practices, strategies, systems and concerns.
One can both agree and disagree with the logic of collective action notion. Most individuals have a
motive in why and how they act. However, people often join groups because a friend or family is a
member, or gender or race relation. They also like or admire the leaders of the group or they like their
beliefs or even the groups colors.
What people achieve in getting involved in interest groups is coming to know individuals who share
similar notions and beliefs as them. If we look into history in the French Revolution, we see that
numbers can triumph over the state. During this period, French citizens razed and redesigned their
country s political landscape, uprooting centuries old institutions such as absolute monarchy and the
feudal system. Revolting against years of exploitation, peasants looted and burned the homes of tax
collectors, landlords and the seigniorial elite (Staff,
History.com).
We see the same in how the proletariat in Vietnam formed a great defensive and offensive against the
French and the United States. Individuals like to associate themselves with people that have
similarities with them and with correct unity; individuals ideals can be advocated much

Effects Of Political Corruption In Nigeria
Political corruption is a significant problem in Africa. Many of the regions in Africa were seeking for
independence from European nations that had caused for political views to differ. The ideas of leaders
were not all similar which may have created a majority of these countries in Africa to express their
feelings and form their own political parties. Besides wanting to be freed from European rule, the rise
of political corruption could also be faulted to the African leaders of different regions of Africa to
voice their own beliefs with the determination that it lacked unifying the nation s overall.
Political corruption is when government powers are illegally aiding for more control that does not

The transformation of politics in Nigeria fell into the trap of military rule that caused for chaos to
occur across the country. Colonial chiefs were taking positions in office which they were not qualified
for and used force and bribery to win over the people of Nigeria. The idea that Nigeria was being set
up in this form of government was misleading and did not let the people feel as though they were
independent. Regional leaders were seeking to take over local politics of this country and were able to
do so when it came to the national and local elections. When Nigeria, revamped their constitution in
the 1950s, which divided Nigeria into three different regions caused a fight to see who would control
the political party. Nigeria located in West Africa is made up of three separate cultures in the area that
lead to disunity and issues with the government. The Hausa Fulani in the north, the Yoruba in the
west, and Ibo in the east. Amongst these cultures, they started to form their political parties. There was
the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons, the Action Group and Northern People s
Congress. The British should be held responsible for encouraging these groups to compete against one
another. The British were responsible for favoring other political parties over others that would help
create cockiness to development in the long run. The British mostly supported the N.C.N.C and

The Role Of Fate And Fate In The Aeneid Vergil
Throughout The Aeneid Vergil addresses a number of themes, one of which is the role of fate and
destiny in a person s life. As the story progresses, Vergil continue to reinforce the idea that Aeneas fate
is controlled by Gods as opposed to his own actions. Vergil opens with an explanation of Juno s anger
and the conflict between the Gods; this introduction suggests that, although the story is primarily
about Aeneas, the Gods will continue to play an integral role shaping the story. This is furthered
reinforced by the fact that Juno hates Trojans; her hatred foreshadows Aeneas gruesome fate, as he is a
Trojan. After book 1, the role of the gods only becomes more clear as Aeneas begins to experience
direct interaction with external forces, all of whom encourage Aeneas to do something, whether it be
fleeing or leaving Dido. The fact that the Gods order Aeneas to do certain actions clearly illustrate
their role in determining Aeneas future, fortifying the idea that people do not control their own fates.
Books 4 and 6 both clearly illustrate the forceful role the Gods have in determining a person s fate as
well the lack of control a person has over their own destiny.
According to Vergil, we do not have control over our own destiny. Vergil has referenced this idea
multiple times throughout The Aeneid; in book 4, lines 330 361 are one instance when this concept
arises in the text. This passage follows the visit Mercury made to Aeneas, warning Aeneas that Jupiter
wanted him to

The Secret Of NIMH Film Analysis
The Secret of NIMH plays with many different filming techniques in order to tell an amazing story.
The story is centered around a widowed mouse, Mrs. Brisby, who s child has fallen ill. Timmy, one of
her children, has fallen ill with ammonia and cannot be moved until he recovers. This is a problem
through because it s almost time for the farmer to begin plowing the fields. If the family does not
move they will be killed by the tractor. The tension and emotion of this film is excellently enhanced
by the lighting, music, shot length and color of each scene. Early on it is plain to see what Mrs. Brisby
s goals are, she wishes to protect her children. The harsh reality of their world starts with the inciting
incident: moving day. Moving day is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The music increases in tempo and becomes louder in order to raise tension. Time is running out as her
home begins to sink. The tempo of the music acts as a clock, ticking away the time Mrs. Brisby and
the rats have to save the children. It mimics her own heart beat as she becomes fearful for their lives.
Once she uses the magic of the stone the music goes from being a terrible thunder to a voice of
triumph. The change in music makes the audience feel the tension release by going from a loud
foreboding sound to a quiet gentle sound. Mrs. Brisby will save her children and everything will be all
right. The lighting also cues the audience in on when the danger has passed. Along with the music the
shots become increasingly low lighted. The light goes dim and gradually becomes darker with every
shot. Once the home had sunken all the way down the light on Mrs. Brisby fades. It is as if her very
life, her will and hope vanish at the presumed loss of her children. The lighting shows the audience
what she feels: sadness, hopelessness, despire and lost. When she uses the stone and its magic the shot
is abruptly interrupted by rays of bright light, turning the scene from low key lighting to high key
lighting. The light is Mrs. Brisby s bravery, returning her hope and allowing her the will to save her
family. It is that beam of light that inspires hope in Mrs. Brisby and she uses it to pull her home from
the mud. It is when she faces the darkest times that her bravery shines the brightest, both visually and

Dante s Inferno Research Paper
Dante s Inferno: One Man s Life and Hell Questioning the existence and form of an afterlife comes as
naturally to the human mind as thinking itself. Many religions attempt to answer the questions about
afterlife, but one could argue that no one answer is entirely correct. Dante Alighieri s Inferno is the
depiction of one man s Hell, which means that the form it takes is greatly affected by Dante s
personality and life. Dante Alighieri lived in 14th century Florence, Italy, and was a political writer
embroiled in a war between two families, the Guelphs and the Ghibellines. The Catholic Church was
riddled with corruption, and Dante was eventually exiled from Florence for the remainder of his life as
a result of the ongoing conflict. Despite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the three classifications of sins which Dante identifies before his descent, the sins of Fraud are
found within the last two circles of Hell. Within the eighth circle, or the Malebolge, one finds
flatterers, seducers, fortune tellers, corrupt politicians, and others who falsify. These sinners receive no
pity from Dante, and are subjected to a plethora of miserable torments: suffering from diseases of the
senses, walking in circles donning leaden robes, being torn apart by snakes, and wallowing in
excrement, to name a few. Furthermore, the ninth circle contains the traitors, who broke the trust of
those they had special connections with. Among these are traitors to country, traitors to kin, and
traitors to masters. These sinners are sentenced to be frozen in ice at varying heights, with their bodies
disfigured and limbs mangled. These relentless and excruciating punishments show that Dante sees
the convolution of truth as unforgivable and worthy of eternal agony. Dante s politically charged life
also influences his Hell. Facing corruption in the Catholic Church and warring families, many
important political and religious figures appear in the lower circles of Inferno. Though this
background of deceit and betrayal carries great significance to Dante s life, one could argue that Dante
abhorred those who only served themselves the most of all

Summary description
Observational methods involve an investigator viewing users as they work and taking notes on the
activity which takes place. Observation may be either direct, where the investigator is actually present
during the task, or indirect, where the task is viewed by some other means such as through use of a
video camera.
Typical Application Areas
Useful early in specification for obtaining qualitative data. This method is an alternative (non

intend to carry out establish the times, places, and people who will be observed. Note that in some
countries, the law may prohibit you from taking video films of people without their explicit written
consent.
3.Decide on the recording technique you will use. Will you rely on hand written notes (traditional),
audio, or video and audio records? Note that the more complete your record, the longer it takes to
analyze. It is useful to be able to make some kind of first cut analysis during observation
4.Analyse, summarize, and report in relation to the objectives set out at the start.
Observation as an approach in a laboratory setting is instantiated quite specifically using the
Laboratory Based Observation approach. A variation of single user observation is two user
observation where pairs of users are invited to work together and the above process is carried out on
the pair. One of the users in two user observation may be a member of the design team, and this is
particularly useful in situations where there may be an unstable prototype.

cars and the giant heart on top of each car. The colors that Romero has chosen for his painting give a
certain type of mood to the viewers. When I first looked at the painting it gave me a bit of happiness

Whose Pacific Rhetorical Analysis
In the article Whose Pacific? U.S. Security Interests in American Samoa from the Age of Empire to
the Pacific Pivot, Holger Droessler asserts that Samona should be taken into consideration because it
represents the bigger picture of the history of US imperialism in the Pacific, the various afterlives in
the present and the impact that imperialism has on its future. He analyzes what led to the perception
that the South Pacific became a region vital to trade, political and military power. Furthermore, he
examines how these perceptions change throughout the 20th century. Finally, he describes about how

Navalism further changes the perception of how the Pacific was because it encourages the Pacific to
be more militarily fortified because there was imperialism in other countries too like France and Great
Britain. As a result, the Pacific became focused on power acquisition rather than its people. The
Samoans tried to get rid of the imperialistic perspective by protesting that they have no interracial
marriages, unequal pay and benefits for the Samoan police guards, and have decided to form a copra
boycott which shuts down the naval government. Congress reacted to the protest by making the
territory into legal status. Furthermore, after the Samoans realized the consequences of the Organic
Act, they rejected it due to the consequences which it has on communal landholding. Finally, the
Samoans resisted the imperial system by advocating an antimilitarist activist organization which tells
the US military to be held responsible for the sexual assaults and the violence that the US military
caused them to face. Holger concludes by empathizing that analyzing the imperial past and changing
its ways can lead to a more democratic

America MUST Drill for Oil in The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR)
For a drug addict to quit a drug, the best solutions for the addict would be to slowly wean them self off
the drug periodically. America can be viewed in a parallel way on its dependency for oil. America
needs another source of oil to slowly lessen its overwhelming dependency on foreign oil and to help
the process of finding another mass energy source. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge better known
as the ANWR is a rich treasure of oil and gas that can help lessen Americas need for foreign resources.
Drilling on the ANWR will not only help the American economy, but will also help aid America in the
future.

In Virginia alone about 28,000 jobs will be created such as engineers and oil supply developers. The
drilling will affect each state in some way weather it be transportation, stocking, manufacturing or a
vast number of jobs. What better way to help American citizens than making national jobs instead of
creating foreign jobs. Most individuals may think that drilling and transporting oil on the ANWR will
put many animals in danger, when in all reality the animals and their environment will be subjected to
little or no danger. There are many reasons for this. Firstly, a great deal of oil drilling experience has
already been learned in the Arctic area because of previous drilling done at Prudhoe Bay, which has
taught oil companies extensive safety precautions in the drilling and transporting of oil. Prudhoe Bay
which is only couple miles from the ANWR and currently Americas largest source of oil is said to
rival the amount of oil on the ANWR. Moreover, the ANWR stretches a vast 19 million acres and the
only land that is going to be affected by the drilling is a mere 1.9 million acres, called the 1002 area.
That is only 2% of the ANWR region. Of the 1.9 million acres only 2000 of those acres will actually
be utilized for drilling purposes. Conclusively, this should in no way endanger the animals in this area.
Of course with every issue there are people who are for it and people that are against it, and

Kodak Vs. Digital Photography
In consumer film photography, Kodak was clearly the market leading incumbent. Based on the
information provided in the case it was certainly possible for Kodak to have become the leader in
consumer digital photography if they had followed the actions described below. Kodak s top
management and its internal research team had anticipated the threat from the digital photography to
their film photography business way back in 1980s. In fact, Kodak introduced the world s first
electronic image sensor, which is the most crucial component of the digital photography. They also
had developed numerous patented technologies in digital photography by 1989, many of which are
built into the digital cameras today. Despite this strong hold on intellectual properties in core digital
photography technologies, Kodak succumbed to new entrants in consumer digital photography due to
several intrinsic management flaws in its technology innovation and adoption strategies that were
certainly avoidable. Kodak should have leveraged its numerous patented technologies to gain the first
mover advantage in digital photography, instead of waiting until 1990s to release its first digital
camera. In the early adoption stage, Kodak should have strongly emphasized on product development
and manufacturing capabilities for a first generation, cost effective, and marketable digital camera
irrespective of its quality and appeal to their consumers. Kodak was slow to adopt this new
technological change

In contrast, other researchers consider that the infected patient should be asymptomatic for at least two

after the initial infection to determine the burden of repeat infections (Hillis et al., 1994; Richey et al.,

outcomes ; All learning is relearning ; Learning requires the resolution of conflicts between
dialectically opposed modes of adaptation to the world ; Learning is a holistic process of adaptation to
the world ; Learning results from synergetic transactions between the person and the environment ;
and Learning is the process of creating knowledge . This report also point out four basic learning

into the behaviors which combines position, region, locomotion, equilibrium of forces, positive and
negative valence, barriers in the person and the world, conflict, and goal . Then they use learning

Analysis Of The Movie Breaking Bad
In the crime drama television series, Breaking Bad we follow see the inner struggle of good and evil
within the main character throughout the entire series to the point where we question which side of his
personality we are witnessing. We see Walter White as a mild mannered and respectful chemistry
teacher who also works at a car wash to help provide for his family just like the typical family man.
Walter has a teenage son who has multiple sclerosis, and a wife who is pregnant with their second
child. After learning that he has been diagnosed with Stage IIIA lung cancer, Walter decides quickly
that he has to secure funds to help pay for his treatments, and also take care of his family after his
death. This decision would spark definite change in his lifestyle, relationships, personality, and
appearance. The result of this change would create the person we know so well, Heisenberg.
Heisenberg is the ruthless, power hungry individual that will do anything possible to make sure that
nothing gets in the way of his money, drug business, and security of himself or his family. In this
paper we will discuss how certain events make Walter White progressively become darker throughout
the series of Breaking Bad to the point where he becomes Heisenberg, as well as comparing him to
different characters of TV shows on television today.
There are many events that helped expedite Walter White s transition from the quiet chemistry teacher
to the vengeful crystal meth kingpin, but

Essay about Ancient Egypt
Egyptian history is rich, vibrant, and full of interesting cultural knowledge. Egypt is one of the most
fertile countries located in the Mediterranean Sea; because approximately 40,000 years ago many
people lived in Egypt earlier than in other places. The Egyptian environment is a hot and dry area,
because it is a part of the Sahara Desert. Many Egyptians religious beliefs were polytheistic; they
believed in several different gods. The economy during the ancient Egyptian time period was different
because they were one of the first groups on earth to begin the farming trade. Although Egyptian
history occurred many years ago, it is still interesting and fascinating. (Environment/ culture, Religion,

Egyptians have been polytheistic since the beginning of time and throughout the Old Kingdom,

said to have worshipped their gods with animal sacrifices and many of the people would carry images
of the god from place to place. In the beginning the Egyptians believed that only pharaohs had an
afterlife. The Egyptians also believed that all of Egypt belonged to the gods and Pharaoh was their
representative here on earth. Some thought that maybe he was a god himself and that made everything
in Egypt belong to him. They later began to believe that everyone, including animals, had an afterlife.
Egyptians trusted that when a person died Anubis would weigh your soul compared with a feather.

Negative Effects of Divorce on Children Essay
Negative Effects of Divorce on Children
Divorce has a strong negative effect on children. The children are brought into the family and then
ripped out of what they know is right or of their norms. James M. Henslin defines the family as being
two or more people who consider themselves related by blood, marriage, or adoption (445). When
married you are instantaneously put into a family. When two people decide to get a divorce, their
children do not wholly understand what is going on. Regardless of their age, children usually blame
themselves when their parents divorce (Bankston 382). They don t understand their parents anger at
each other, so they believe this is happening because of something they have done. This is why ...

Some other downfalls, to the children of divorced parents, would be they start engaging in sexual
activity sooner, are more likely to have children out of wedlock, are less likely to marry, and if they
marry, are more likely to get divorced. They are likelier to abuse drugs, turn to crime, and commit
suicide (Leo 2000). These are all unfortunate incidences that could have been lessened or even
prevented. When Henslin stated that the family consists of two or more people, this is still true for
after the divorce. Henslin gives great points when helping children adjust to divorce. The adjustment
is better if (1) both parents show understanding and affection; (2) the child lives with a parent who is
making a good adjustment; (3) family routines are consistent; (4) the family has adequate money for
its needs; and (5) that the child lives with a parent of the same sex (466).
When the parents show love and affection toward the children, their welfare is better in the long run.
These examples are only of the physical and emotional changes. Let s take a look at more emotional
changes that occur. These children are torn between their parent. They were never told to make a
choice between one or the other before and they are having a hard time doing that now. Studies show
that these children have more hostility, anxiety, and nightmares, and they don t do as well in school

Insidious Flowers Attract the Greatest Beauty
John Steinbeck s East of Eden tells the story of the lives of many people, each chapter focusing on a
different person or group. The proponents of the novel trail along the characters and displays a
contrast between them. The characters struggle between evil and good not only with themselves, but
with each other. In his story, East of Eden, Steinbeck places Cathy s demonic and deceiving
personality together with Adam s pure hearted temperament to demonstrate contradictions in nature.
Steinbeck uses the calm, fresh setting of Salinas Valley to create a distinctive atmosphere. The novel
follows the characters and their families in North America. The beginning of the novel consists of an
atmosphere in which both Adam Trask and Cathy Ames live in. They both live on the east coast and
explore its tenebrous tangibility. Adam lives a life of fear and pain in the east: first in the gruesome

BACKGROUND
I am proposing for a library to be put into the Exton campus of Delaware County Community College.

A library that is closer for students would promote good learning habits and study skills. Students may
not wait until the last minute to do their projects and papers because resources are more readily
available to them.
PROPOSED ENVIRONMENT
The proposed environment will consist of a fully functioning library that is open to students and
faculty free of charge. If an outside member of the community would like to use the library the school
could charge them a small membership fee. This will help to raise revenue for the college and the
library.
For the first few years the library may be small but as years pass the library can expand to have more
books, magazines, research materials, computers, etc. The library can also share with the main campus
library in order to expand their materials and capabilities. I think many students and teachers would
support the addition of a library to the campus.
When the library is first constructed it should have at least a thousand books, several magazine
subscriptions, and fifteen computers. Ten of the computers should be connected to the Internet and
have common programs that students would use to write research papers and create presentations. The
other five computers should be connected to research databases only such as Ebsco. There should also
be a ?quiet area? where students can study, do homework, research material, read, write papers, etc. A

Case A Retail Dry Cleaning Shop
A retail dry cleaning store cleans two piece suits for $12 each. Its patrons are individual walk ins.
There are several similar dry cleaners in the city and this firm offers no special services. The firm can
clean up to 1,000 suits per week. It has fixed costs of $3,500 per week (amortization on its equipment,
rent, taxes, and salaries) plus a cost of $4 per suit for chemicals, packaging materials, order
processing, and incidentals. Volume per week has been fairly constant at 600 suits.
A firm that operates three hotels in the city is asking the store to clean 150 two piece staff uniforms
per week at a price of $6.75 per suit. The process would be the same as the store uses on suits.
Because there are several dry cleaning stores ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why or why not?
The special job still should be accepted even if the hotel chain is only willing to pay $4.25 per
uniform. As mentioned previously, the price at $4.25 is still greater than the Marginal Cost at $4.00
and therefore it is still profitable for the firm to continue and make the uniform. The increase in
revenue would be $637.50 ($4.25*150), whereas the increase in costs would only be $600
($400*150). Therefore, even though the $4.25 is far below the $12.00 market price and the average
total cost of $8.67, it is still a profitable order.
Calculation below: =$4.25 =$4.00 =$8.67
3. Suppose the hotel chain is willing to negotiate the price. When you enter the negotiations, what is
the lowest price you are willing to accept (i.e., your reservation price)? (Of course, you will not
announce this price to the other party.)
Since this firm is in a perfectly competitive market, they must charge the same price in the industry to
be competitive. Since they have excessive capacity of up to 400 suits above their normal sales, the
incremental job allows them to negotiate a price anywhere revenue is greater than the variable cost per
shirt. The lowest price that the dry cleaning service should accept is the point where the Market
Price=Marginal Cost =Marginal Revenue, which is $4.00 per uniform. This is only the case because
the dry cleaning service has the excess capacity and

Access Control Lists
Introduction
This report will look at various access control methods used by Operating Systems (OS) to control
user access to files on a computer and what they can do once they have gained access. In this first
section I will look at methods such as Access Control Lists(ACL s), Capabilities and Encrypting file
systems(EFS) and which Operating Systems use these as well as the advantages and disadvantages
they have over each other. The second part of my report will focus on one OS and explain in detail the
methods it uses to control file access and how it works.

Unlike UNIX ACL s, the order that entities are listed in the DACL for Windows is important, if a
group is denied access to an object, however one individual belonging to that group is allowed access,
then it is important to list the individual as being allowed access on the DACL before listing the group
to be denied. If it is done the opposite way around, then when the system checks the DACL it will
straight away deny the whole group, including the user that is allowed, similarly it would be possible,
if a group was allowed access but one individual was denied, to accidentally allow the individual to
gain access. Because of this flaw, DACL s must be carefully thought out when the administrator is
configuring it (Microsoft: 2008). Access Control Lists have the advantage that they work well with
commonly used systems, such as windows where there may be a number of users where access needs
to be regulated, they do however have a downside, if somebody is able to gain access to the
administrative part of the system they have full permissions, another flaw is that if the administrator
fails to grant permissions correctly they could leave the whole system open to everybody, or block out
all the users. With both UNIX and Windows, when ACL s are applied to something such a directory,
the permissions only applies for what is within a directory. If a file is moved to a new directory it will
adopt the new permissions, subdirectories

Back in 1950, it was clear that the United States was not available in the war in

American Idiot Paraphrase
Green Day s American Idiot is a powerful song which presents to us the bands perspectives on the
many issues faced by American society today. The lyrics are carefully written to create a certain
impact, in which many useful techniques are employed to draw a certain response from the audience
and to aid in getting across the songs key messages or themes.
A commonly used technique in song writing, which is clearly utilized in the creation of American Idiot
, is that of repetition. Throughout the song, there are many lines which the band has deliberately
repeated, such as Don t want to be an American Idiot and all across the alienation . This technique has
been used to emphasize these words and the significant meanings which are attached to them. Though
they may also be repeated for the sake of gathering interest for the song and its tune, its main use is
really to highlight the songs main points and the meanings which it has of course been constructed to
convey. In this instance, it is to portray the Americans as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

language is evident within the last line of the third stanza, in which the statement and sing along in the
age of paranoia has been made. The key word used in this sentence is age , which symbolises and
points out a particular time or perhaps era. A possible interpretation from the use of such word is one
which criticizes the American people of the songs era, rather than any other. This, in turn, is saying

Majority of people benefited from the reforms set in place by Napoleon, this is due to the fact that
under his law everyone was applicable for the same punishment is they did the same crime as
someone in the lower classes, however those that were left out of Napoleon s new fair laws were
sadly, women
The rights that women gained throughout the French Revolution began fading with Napoleon s
attitude towards women was shown through his social policies
They had to follow their husband s orders and they couldn t make legal contracts, even divorce
became more circumstantial for women than for men
These acts agreed with other European Leaders which made it, at the time of course, ok to do
Besides radical revolutionaries not many supported women s rights, most believed in the rule of the
husband being appropriate in a traditional family structure (said to be the foundation of society)
They had less rights with Napoleon but the same as everyone else in Europe
Economic
Napoleon tried to address France s financial problems, even the revolutionary governments saw how
the awful system for taxing led to such great economic problems

Dallas Mavericks Case Study
The Dallas Mavericks have had an interesting offseason to say the least. The free agency period

The loss of Tyson Chandler to the Suns through free agency and Deandre Jordan deciding to stay with
the Clippers almost crippled the Mavs. Pachulia won t be the saving grace for the franchise, but he
will bring talent and veteran leadership to the club. Pachulia put up good defensive numbers for the
Bucks last season, and can really excel at both ends of the floor. A solid role player, Pachulia has
averaged 7.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game during his 12 year NBA career. Pachulia won t come
close to performing like Deandre Jordan or even Tyson Chandler. However, he will be a solid
performer at center this season and has a keen ability to protect the paint. He ll most likely be sharing
court time with Samuel Dalembert and Dwight Powell so I don t expect much better numbers than his
career average. Carlisle tends to also like to play small ball, sticking Parsons at power forward and
Nowitzki at center. Both of these things could put a damper on the fantasy success of Pachulia.
Pachulia is a very intriguing fantasy option, but I just don t see a supreme value for him going
forward. Taking him as a late round pick in drafts or scooping him up on waivers will be the best
option going forward. There will be plenty of opportunities to grab rebounds and put back shots for

The trendline, known as the line of best fit or the least squares regression line, shows the linear
equation which best explains the sums up the data s trend. The formula on the right is the formula of
the line of best fit.
As can be observed from these plots, teams who win at the end of the first period have a much larger
range of data, with 26 separate points versus 14 separate points on Team B s graph. Since the scatter
plot does not use a thicker dot when numerous teams share one place on the plot, this suggests that
teams who lose at the end of the first period tend to have similar scores, as they have twelve fewer
points than teams who win.
If a team loses in the first period, this means that its X range must be smaller than that of the winning
team. Since 9/26, or almost 35%, of Team A s points are on 3 or 4 on the X axis, it is logical for Team
A to have a larger range. However, even disregarding 3 and 4 on the X axis, Team A s range is still
larger than that of Team B s. There is a greater spread of data on the Y axis of Team A, as well.
Note that when Team A scores one goal in the first period, there are instances of them ending the third
period with five or six goals. However, when Team B scores one goal in the first period, the most
goals they ended up with is only four. This pattern is repeated when the teams score two goals in the
first period. With Team A, there are instance(s) when they end up with seven; with

Rational Choice Theory Of Rape
Rape is a crime that Americans hear very little about, yet everyone knows that such acts occur
frequently. Rape is a very personal form of violence that continuously impacts the victim for years
after it occurs, if not for the rest of the victim s life. The effects of rape, short term and long term, can
be catastrophic for the victim, causing them physical and psychological damage (Gluck, 2016). I
believe that by using the Rational Choice Theory, rape can be eliminated in today s society by the use
of castration as a punishment for offenders and as a deterrence for possible future offenders.
Rape has been an ongoing issue within society for centuries. In early times, men raped women for
reproductive purposes. Today, it is still believed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Literature Review
Russell (1997) informs that there are two forms of castration: chemical and surgical. According to
Chism (2013), the oldest and most effective approach to controlling deviant sexual urges and reducing
recidivism rates of male sex offenders is surgical castration. This is partially backed up by the data
given by McMillian (2014), who composed a study of 104 men, revealing the recidivism rate as 3%
for those who had been castrated compared to 45% with those who had not. Cauley (2014) identified
cases where surgical castration has been used nationally and in the United States, showing that
castration is quite effective.
Lee, Kang, Ji, Baeck, Lee, Oh (2013) informs that in Korea, a chemical castration law was passed in
2011, which targets child molesters who have reoffended. The law is intended to prevent offending
and rehabilitate offenders. Decisions to commit crimes such as rape or other sexually motivated
offenses, are often made under the influence of visceral feelings such as anger or sexual arousal, as
stated by Loewenstein, Nagin, and Paternoster (2010); rational choice models of decision making
assume that individuals can anticipate, in an unaroused state, their responses to such instinctual
feelings.
Discussion
In the United States, required surgical or chemical castration is something that is not really considered
as a form of punishment or a method of rehabilitation for sexual offenders. The reason for this

Importance Of Family In Life
In life, many things are important to a human s existence and worth. The most important aspect in life
is family because without family a person would not exist. Family is often described as being the

Satire In Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles
Satire walks a fine line between funny and not. If the audience does not understand the true intentions
of a satirical film then it is often seen as being offensive. Satire is designed to bring attention to
serious issues by making fun of them. Due to the nature of subjects often broached in satirical films
people often mistake them for supporting the very ideals they are trying to bring attention to. This can
be seen in Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles as the characters will often say very offensive things and if
one did not understand that it was all meant to be taken with a few grains of salt then they would
interpret the movie as being extremely offensive. Due to satires ability to bring attention to the
difficult issues in societies it is

The Contributions Of Frederick Douglass By Frederick Douglas
While being educated and defending himself against Mr. Covey were important events in Douglass
life, the most important turning point was the day he was able to earn money from work. Being able to
earn money reminded him about his plan to attain freedom, made him an important asset to his master,
and made freedom a more attainable feat with his ability to hire his time. Earning money allows
Douglass to remember the goal he had almost forgotten, freedom. Since Frederick Douglass becomes
a such a skilled calker he is able to, command the highest wages given to the most experienced
calkers, and he was, now of some importance to [his] master. (92) Since Douglass is giving all his
wages to his master, Mr. Hugh, he is allowed to be free during his leisure time. During this time he is
reminded of his desire to be free. During these leisure times, these old notions of slavery would steal
over me again (92) Douglass says again because while in the employment of Mr. Gardener, he only
had time to think about his life and how to protect it. Having more tasks to do than time to do it, he
was continuously working, and at times, retaliating against his white overseers. Now that he is living
relatively comfortably, it heightens his yearning to be a free man, ...whenever my condition
improved...it only increased my desire to be free... If Mr. Hugh had worked Douglass as hard as his
previous masters, Douglass would not have been able to think about his plans for freedom because he

Essay Lost Colony of Roanoke
For centuries, the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island has been a controversial issue. Many theories exist
that explain the disappearance of the colony. Some theories suggest that the colonists left the island to
live with friendly neighboring Indians. Others suggest that a hurricane wiped out the colony or that a
savage Indian tribe massacred them. The possibility of disease destroying them is also a debated topic.
However, evidence indicates that the men and women left behind on Roanoke Island did not die
because of massacre, disease, or starvation but went to live with the Croatoan Indians. In 1587 a group
of men, women, and children led by Sir John White set sail for America and landed on a North
Carolina island called Roanoke (Shirley ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, physical proof indicates that after John White left the colony to return to England, the
colonists intermarried with the Indians. According to David Beers Quinn, author of Set Fair for
Roanoke, the colonists and the Indians did intermarry (350). The colonists intermarrying with the
Indians would cause some of the offspring to have genetic traits unusual for Indians, such as blue eyes
or light colored hair. In his article about the lost colony, Scott Dawson writes that an explorer named
John Lawson discovered blue eyed Indians dressed in English apparel; Dawson also says that the
Indians claimed to have White descendants (6). Therefore, by making Manteo lord of Roanoke and
intermarrying with the Indians, the colonists proved their strong relationship with the Croatoans.
Upon his return, John White met with no indications of the deaths of the colonists. Linda Kramer
states that John White and the colonists agreed that in the event of leaving Roanoke, the colonists in a
noticeable location would engrave the name of the place to which they were departing and that an
engraving of a Maltese cross above the name of the location would signal leaving because of danger
(3). When White returned to the colony after three years of being absent, he discovered one of the
signals the colonists promised to engrave if they left. The Article Lost: An American Colony describes

Liberal Arts Degree
Steve Jobs once said that The reason that Apple is able to create products like the iPad is because we
ve always tried to be at the intersection of technology and the liberal arts. Apple is now a multinational
company selling more and more products every day. Their success can be credited to the balance
between knowing what people want and how to give it to them. Figuring out how to give people what
they desire is the technological part of Job s foolproof equation. The word liberal is loosely defined as
free, free speech, free thought, free healthcare... The liberal arts degree is seen as the study of
expression in different medias like visual art or literature. Many want to completely obliterate the
liberal arts degree and others think more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My only concern with the previous pro humanities argument is the fact that most students pursuing a
liberal arts degree are not criminals. I don t think only criminals can benefit from a liberal arts
education. Not enough people are benefiting from a liberal arts degree. This is where the degree needs
a change or an update. I love the humanities, I love everything about them from the feeling of reciting
one of Juliet s soliloquies from Romeo and Juliet in front of full auditorium; to the tedious work of
editing a story I ll never publish. Everything the liberal arts degree has to offer gives me an adrenalin
rush. It is my dream to become a journalist with the old fashion purpose of bringing the facts to the
people . It is my dream to be a New York Times best seller, or poet, or pianist, or actress. But I m
going for my nursing degree. All those dreams are lovely but it s always been my goal to be
independent. A science education is the best way to get there. If the humanities offered a solid future I
would pursue it, but to pursue the current liberal arts degree is to take a risk; a risk I can t afford, risk
many can t

  • 2. What Are The Key Beliefs Of Christian Religion Christianity emerged out of the first century C.E.; it is a monotheistic religion meaning it focuses its beliefs and practices around one God. Christianity is also undoubtedly the most widely practiced religion in the modern world with every country having a group of Christian followers. In this essay, I will preview and briefly explain the key beliefs, practices, community and what the religion values as sacred or ultimate. For those of Christian faith, they believe in Jesus Christ who they praise as the son of God sent to forgive humanity for their sins; those who follow Christian faith often refer to Jesus Christ as our lord and savior. Another feature of Christian belief is that the religion is monotheistic, meaning that its followers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The followers of Christian faith also believe in what is called the Ten Commandments, also referred to as the Decalogue, given to Jesus Christ and instructed that he pass on to his followers; these commandments include direct orders from God that all those of Christian faith must follow and practice. Baptism often referred to as christening is also a practice of Christian faith; with the use of water, or Holy water is water that has been prayed over and is to be considered sacred, that water is then poured over the head or the individual is submerged in to symbolize the washing away of sins and the acceptance of Christian faith into one s life and dedication to Jesus Christ. Worship is also a powerful practice in the Christian faith; attending church and prayer are all features of Christian worship. Holidays celebrated in Christianity are Christmas, which is celebrated on December twenty fifth for Western cultures and January seventh for Orthodox Christians; Easter is also a popular Christian holiday celebrated between March twenty second and April twenty fifth. The reasoning behind the odd dates is because Orthodox religions follow the Julian calendar which pre dates the Gregorian calendar traditionally followed in Western ... • 3. Summary Of The Negro Artist And The Radical Mountain By... Langston Hughes has made many accomplishments that most people couldn t make. It was a great challenge for colored people to express their feelings without going through a lot of trouble. Hughes was successful in expressing he feelings. Considering the fact that he was half Caucasian and half African American, he wasn t treated the way he was supposed to. So he wanted to do something about it and change the course of history. On June 23, 1926, Hughes published a stunning essay called The Negro Artist and the Radical Mountain. This essay captured the philosophy behind art and radical problems faced by black artists. We younger Negro artists who create now intend to express our individual dark skinned selves without fear or shame. If white people are pleased we are glad. If they are not, it doesn t matter. We know we are beautiful. And ugly too. The tom tom cries and the tom tom laughs. If colored people are pleased we are glad. If they are not, their displeasure doesn t matter either. We build our temples for tomorrow, strong as we know how, and we stand on top of the mountain, free within ourselves. Hughes clarifies how colored people should pay more attention to their own beauty. Hughes sums up the life and thoughts of young negroes like the young poet he described at the beginning of his essay. Another great work of art by Langston Hughes was a poem called Harlem Sweeties. He uses the term sugar hill and different shades of food to illustrate the personality and beauty of the melanated people of Harlem. Some of these examples include descriptions such as coffee and cream, chocolate, walnut tinted, coco brown, and many more. In another poem called My People, Langston illustrates how wonderful his people are. He expresses the beauty of his people by talking about the beautiful night. • 4. The Importance Of A Greater Representation On Their Behalf Question One: Individuals take part in interest groups to acquire a greater representation on their behalf. By joining an interest group their beliefs will be heard and it can effectively impact political, government and enterprise ideas, practices, strategies, systems and concerns. One can both agree and disagree with the logic of collective action notion. Most individuals have a motive in why and how they act. However, people often join groups because a friend or family is a member, or gender or race relation. They also like or admire the leaders of the group or they like their beliefs or even the groups colors. What people achieve in getting involved in interest groups is coming to know individuals who share similar notions and beliefs as them. If we look into history in the French Revolution, we see that numbers can triumph over the state. During this period, French citizens razed and redesigned their country s political landscape, uprooting centuries old institutions such as absolute monarchy and the feudal system. Revolting against years of exploitation, peasants looted and burned the homes of tax collectors, landlords and the seigniorial elite (Staff, History.com). We see the same in how the proletariat in Vietnam formed a great defensive and offensive against the French and the United States. Many of the regions in Africa were seeking for independence from European nations that had caused for political views to differ. The ideas of leaders were not all similar which may have created a majority of these countries in Africa to express their feelings and form their own political parties. The transformation of politics in Nigeria fell into the trap of military rule that caused for chaos to occur across the country. Colonial chiefs were taking positions in office which they were not qualified for and used force and bribery to win over the people of Nigeria. The idea that Nigeria was being set up in this form of government was misleading and did not let the people feel as though they were independent. Regional leaders were seeking to take over local politics of this country and were able to do so when it came to the national and local elections. When Nigeria, revamped their constitution in the 1950s, which divided Nigeria into three different regions caused a fight to see who would control the political party. Nigeria located in West Africa is made up of three separate cultures in the area that lead to disunity and issues with the government. The Hausa Fulani in the north, the Yoruba in the west, and Ibo in the east. Amongst these cultures, they started to form their political parties. There was the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons, the Action Group and Northern People s Congress. • 6. The Role Of Fate And Fate In The Aeneid Vergil Throughout The Aeneid Vergil addresses a number of themes, one of which is the role of fate and destiny in a person s life. As the story progresses, Vergil continue to reinforce the idea that Aeneas fate is controlled by Gods as opposed to his own actions. Vergil opens with an explanation of Juno s anger and the conflict between the Gods; this introduction suggests that, although the story is primarily about Aeneas, the Gods will continue to play an integral role shaping the story. This is furthered reinforced by the fact that Juno hates Trojans; her hatred foreshadows Aeneas gruesome fate, as he is a Trojan. After book 1, the role of the gods only becomes more clear as Aeneas begins to experience direct interaction with external forces, all of whom encourage Aeneas to do something, whether it be fleeing or leaving Dido. The fact that the Gods order Aeneas to do certain actions clearly illustrate their role in determining Aeneas future, fortifying the idea that people do not control their own fates. Books 4 and 6 both clearly illustrate the forceful role the Gods have in determining a person s fate as well the lack of control a person has over their own destiny. According to Vergil, we do not have control over our own destiny. Vergil has referenced this idea multiple times throughout The Aeneid; in book 4, lines 330 361 are one instance when this concept arises in the text. Many religions attempt to answer the questions about afterlife, but one could argue that no one answer is entirely correct. Dante Alighieri s Inferno is the depiction of one man s Hell, which means that the form it takes is greatly affected by Dante s personality and life. Dante Alighieri lived in 14th century Florence, Italy, and was a political writer embroiled in a war between two families, the Guelphs and the Ghibellines. Within the eighth circle, or the Malebolge, one finds flatterers, seducers, fortune tellers, corrupt politicians, and others who falsify. These sinners receive no pity from Dante, and are subjected to a plethora of miserable torments: suffering from diseases of the senses, walking in circles donning leaden robes, being torn apart by snakes, and wallowing in excrement, to name a few. Furthermore, the ninth circle contains the traitors, who broke the trust of those they had special connections with. Among these are traitors to country, traitors to kin, and traitors to masters. These sinners are sentenced to be frozen in ice at varying heights, with their bodies disfigured and limbs mangled. These relentless and excruciating punishments show that Dante sees the convolution of truth as unforgivable and worthy of eternal agony. Dante s politically charged life also influences his Hell. Facing corruption in the Catholic Church and warring families, many important political and religious figures appear in the lower circles of Inferno. Though this background of deceit and betrayal carries great significance to Dante s life, one could argue that Dante abhorred those who only served themselves the most of all ... Congress reacted to the protest by making the territory into legal status. Furthermore, after the Samoans realized the consequences of the Organic Act, they rejected it due to the consequences which it has on communal landholding. Finally, the Samoans resisted the imperial system by advocating an antimilitarist activist organization which tells the US military to be held responsible for the sexual assaults and the violence that the US military caused them to face. America MUST Drill for Oil in The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) For a drug addict to quit a drug, the best solutions for the addict would be to slowly wean them self off the drug periodically. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge better known as the ANWR is a rich treasure of oil and gas that can help lessen Americas need for foreign resources. Most individuals may think that drilling and transporting oil on the ANWR will put many animals in danger, when in all reality the animals and their environment will be subjected to little or no danger. There are many reasons for this. Firstly, a great deal of oil drilling experience has already been learned in the Arctic area because of previous drilling done at Prudhoe Bay, which has taught oil companies extensive safety precautions in the drilling and transporting of oil. Prudhoe Bay which is only couple miles from the ANWR and currently Americas largest source of oil is said to rival the amount of oil on the ANWR. Moreover, the ANWR stretches a vast 19 million acres and the only land that is going to be affected by the drilling is a mere 1.9 million acres, called the 1002 area. That is only 2% of the ANWR region. Of the 1.9 million acres only 2000 of those acres will actually be utilized for drilling purposes. Based on the information provided in the case it was certainly possible for Kodak to have become the leader in consumer digital photography if they had followed the actions described below. Kodak s top management and its internal research team had anticipated the threat from the digital photography to their film photography business way back in 1980s. In fact, Kodak introduced the world s first electronic image sensor, which is the most crucial component of the digital photography. They also had developed numerous patented technologies in digital photography by 1989, many of which are built into the digital cameras today. Despite this strong hold on intellectual properties in core digital photography technologies, Kodak succumbed to new entrants in consumer digital photography due to several intrinsic management flaws in its technology innovation and adoption strategies that were certainly avoidable. Kodak should have leveraged its numerous patented technologies to gain the first mover advantage in digital photography, instead of waiting until 1990s to release its first digital camera. In the early adoption stage, Kodak should have strongly emphasized on product development and manufacturing capabilities for a first generation, cost effective, and marketable digital camera irrespective of its quality and appeal to their consumers. For both bacterial infections, some researchers recommend that to eliminate persistent infections, it should use a laboratory test after the first infection before estimating the number of repeat infections. In contrast, other researchers consider that the infected patient should be asymptomatic for at least two weeks before counting as a new infection. However, the majority of researchers set a number of days after the initial infection to determine the burden of repeat infections (Hillis et al., 1994; Richey et al., 1999; Barnett and Brundage, 2001; Burstein et al., 2001). The most common time frame for consideration as a repeat infection for CT and NG is that diagnosed 30 days or more after the preceding infection. Walter has a teenage son who has multiple sclerosis, and a wife who is pregnant with their second child. After learning that he has been diagnosed with Stage IIIA lung cancer, Walter decides quickly that he has to secure funds to help pay for his treatments, and also take care of his family after his death. When Henslin stated that the family consists of two or more people, this is still true for after the divorce. Henslin gives great points when helping children adjust to divorce. The adjustment is better if (1) both parents show understanding and affection; (2) the child lives with a parent who is making a good adjustment; (3) family routines are consistent; (4) the family has adequate money for its needs; and (5) that the child lives with a parent of the same sex (466). It has fixed costs of $3,500 per week (amortization on its equipment, rent, taxes, and salaries) plus a cost of $4 per suit for chemicals, packaging materials, order processing, and incidentals. Volume per week has been fairly constant at 600 suits. A firm that operates three hotels in the city is asking the store to clean 150 two piece staff uniforms per week at a price of $6.75 per suit. The special job still should be accepted even if the hotel chain is only willing to pay $4.25 per uniform. As mentioned previously, the price at $4.25 is still greater than the Marginal Cost at $4.00 and therefore it is still profitable for the firm to continue and make the uniform. The increase in revenue would be $637.50 ($4.25*150), whereas the increase in costs would only be $600 ($400*150). Therefore, even though the $4.25 is far below the $12.00 market price and the average total cost of $8.67, it is still a profitable order. Calculation below: =$4.25 =$4.00 =$8.67 3. Suppose the hotel chain is willing to negotiate the price. When you enter the negotiations, what is the lowest price you are willing to accept (i.e., your reservation price)? (Of course, you will not announce this price to the other party.) Since this firm is in a perfectly competitive market, they must charge the same price in the industry to be competitive. Since they have excessive capacity of up to 400 suits above their normal sales, the incremental job allows them to negotiate a price anywhere revenue is greater than the variable cost per shirt. Unlike UNIX ACL s, the order that entities are listed in the DACL for Windows is important, if a group is denied access to an object, however one individual belonging to that group is allowed access, then it is important to list the individual as being allowed access on the DACL before listing the group to be denied. If it is done the opposite way around, then when the system checks the DACL it will straight away deny the whole group, including the user that is allowed, similarly it would be possible, if a group was allowed access but one individual was denied, to accidentally allow the individual to gain access. Because of this flaw, DACL s must be carefully thought out when the administrator is configuring it (Microsoft: 2008). Access Control Lists have the advantage that they work well with commonly used systems, such as windows where there may be a number of users where access needs to be regulated, they do however have a downside, if somebody is able to gain access to the administrative part of the system they have full permissions, another flaw is that if the administrator fails to grant permissions correctly they could leave the whole system open to everybody, or block out all the users. The formula on the right is the formula of the line of best fit. As can be observed from these plots, teams who win at the end of the first period have a much larger range of data, with 26 separate points versus 14 separate points on Team B s graph. Since the scatter plot does not use a thicker dot when numerous teams share one place on the plot, this suggests that teams who lose at the end of the first period tend to have similar scores, as they have twelve fewer points than teams who win. If a team loses in the first period, this means that its X range must be smaller than that of the winning team. Since 9/26, or almost 35%, of Team A s points are on 3 or 4 on the X axis, it is logical for Team A to have a larger range. However, even disregarding 3 and 4 on the X axis, Team A s range is still larger than that of Team B s. There is a greater spread of data on the Y axis of Team A, as well. Note that when Team A scores one goal in the first period, there are instances of them ending the third period with five or six goals. • 40. Rational Choice Theory Of Rape Rape is a crime that Americans hear very little about, yet everyone knows that such acts occur frequently. Rape is a very personal form of violence that continuously impacts the victim for years after it occurs, if not for the rest of the victim s life. The effects of rape, short term and long term, can be catastrophic for the victim, causing them physical and psychological damage (Gluck, 2016). I believe that by using the Rational Choice Theory, rape can be eliminated in today s society by the use of castration as a punishment for offenders and as a deterrence for possible future offenders. Rape has been an ongoing issue within society for centuries. In early times, men raped women for reproductive purposes. Today, it is still believed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Literature Review Russell (1997) informs that there are two forms of castration: chemical and surgical. According to Chism (2013), the oldest and most effective approach to controlling deviant sexual urges and reducing recidivism rates of male sex offenders is surgical castration. This is partially backed up by the data given by McMillian (2014), who composed a study of 104 men, revealing the recidivism rate as 3% for those who had been castrated compared to 45% with those who had not. Cauley (2014) identified cases where surgical castration has been used nationally and in the United States, showing that castration is quite effective. Lee, Kang, Ji, Baeck, Lee, Oh (2013) informs that in Korea, a chemical castration law was passed in 2011, which targets child molesters who have reoffended. The law is intended to prevent offending and rehabilitate offenders. Decisions to commit crimes such as rape or other sexually motivated offenses, are often made under the influence of visceral feelings such as anger or sexual arousal, as stated by Loewenstein, Nagin, and Paternoster (2010); rational choice models of decision making assume that individuals can anticipate, in an unaroused state, their responses to such instinctual feelings. Discussion In the United States, required surgical or chemical castration is something that is not really considered as a form of punishment or a method of rehabilitation for sexual offenders. The reason for this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the audience does not understand the true intentions of a satirical film then it is often seen as being offensive. Satire is designed to bring attention to serious issues by making fun of them. Due to the nature of subjects often broached in satirical films people often mistake them for supporting the very ideals they are trying to bring attention to. This can be seen in Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles as the characters will often say very offensive things and if one did not understand that it was all meant to be taken with a few grains of salt then they would interpret the movie as being extremely offensive. • 45. The Contributions Of Frederick Douglass By Frederick Douglas While being educated and defending himself against Mr. Covey were important events in Douglass life, the most important turning point was the day he was able to earn money from work. Being able to earn money reminded him about his plan to attain freedom, made him an important asset to his master, and made freedom a more attainable feat with his ability to hire his time. Earning money allows Douglass to remember the goal he had almost forgotten, freedom. Since Frederick Douglass becomes a such a skilled calker he is able to, command the highest wages given to the most experienced calkers, and he was, now of some importance to [his] master. (92) Since Douglass is giving all his wages to his master, Mr. Hugh, he is allowed to be free during his leisure time. During this time he is reminded of his desire to be free. During these leisure times, these old notions of slavery would steal over me again (92) Douglass says again because while in the employment of Mr. Gardener, he only had time to think about his life and how to protect it. • 46. Essay Lost Colony of Roanoke For centuries, the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island has been a controversial issue. Many theories exist that explain the disappearance of the colony. Some theories suggest that the colonists left the island to live with friendly neighboring Indians. Others suggest that a hurricane wiped out the colony or that a savage Indian tribe massacred them. The possibility of disease destroying them is also a debated topic. However, evidence indicates that the men and women left behind on Roanoke Island did not die because of massacre, disease, or starvation but went to live with the Croatoan Indians. In 1587 a group of men, women, and children led by Sir John White set sail for America and landed on a North Carolina island called Roanoke (Shirley ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, physical proof indicates that after John White left the colony to return to England, the colonists intermarried with the Indians. According to David Beers Quinn, author of Set Fair for Roanoke, the colonists and the Indians did intermarry (350). The colonists intermarrying with the Indians would cause some of the offspring to have genetic traits unusual for Indians, such as blue eyes or light colored hair. In his article about the lost colony, Scott Dawson writes that an explorer named John Lawson discovered blue eyed Indians dressed in English apparel; Dawson also says that the Indians claimed to have White descendants (6). Therefore, by making Manteo lord of Roanoke and intermarrying with the Indians, the colonists proved their strong relationship with the Croatoans. Upon his return, John White met with no indications of the deaths of the colonists. Linda Kramer states that John White and the colonists agreed that in the event of leaving Roanoke, the colonists in a noticeable location would engrave the name of the place to which they were departing and that an engraving of a Maltese cross above the name of the location would signal leaving because of danger (3). When White returned to the colony after three years of being absent, he discovered one of the signals the colonists promised to engrave if they left. Liberal Arts Degree Steve Jobs once said that The reason that Apple is able to create products like the iPad is because we ve always tried to be at the intersection of technology and the liberal arts. Apple is now a multinational company selling more and more products every day. Their success can be credited to the balance between knowing what people want and how to give it to them. Figuring out how to give people what they desire is the technological part of Job s foolproof equation. The word liberal is loosely defined as free, free speech, free thought, free healthcare... I love the humanities, I love everything about them from the feeling of reciting one of Juliet s soliloquies from Romeo and Juliet in front of full auditorium; to the tedious work of editing a story I ll never publish.
