1000 Class Reflection
Business Recitation 1000 class has been such a great experience and expanded my knowledge with the
excel program while also incorporating the use of excel to create the PowerPoint in class helped me to
know the program better. This learning experience will definitely advance my knowledge in excel as
well as assist me to prepare for the corporate world where these skills are used in day to day basis.
Professor Williamson, you mentioned in the content section restating that this class went through some
major reconstruction from being a communication based where students were required to do a
presentation about the choice of their company for 30 minutes and writing a 15 page term paper to
mostly excel based class now. I believe that these changes were needed and it really helped me expand
my familiarity with excel to knowing exactly how to work with the program including profit and

Additionally, I became comfortable with excel because I did hesitate and struggled with it in the
beginning but all the materials and instruction improved my performance and some practicing as well.
Fusing excel with PowerPoint was a much simpler task than collecting data and making graphs in
excel. After all the critical work in excel, copy and pasting was one way to transfer the information
which I used for presentation. My group and I chose Microsoft as a company of our choice and
collected all the data needed from the online sources. After enumerating the information in excel, my
group members and I transferred the graphs and charts by simply copy pasting. I believe that it was
definitely an excellent idea for creating a presentation because we were able to practice and put our
skills learned in class to test.

The US Economy
The United States is currently experiencing a slow recovery from the recession of 2008 09. The
current unemployment rate is 7.7%, which is the lowest level since December of 2008 (BLS, 2012).
However, this rate is believed to higher than the rate that would occur if the economy was operating at
peak efficiency, and it is also believed that there are structural issues still underpinning this
performance. For example, the number of Americans who have exited the work force as the result of
prolonged unemployment is believed to be higher than usual. In addition, the Congressional Budget
Office (CBO, 2012) notes that long term unemployment of greater than 26 weeks is at a much higher
rate than normal, which will have adverse long run effects on the economy, since workers with long
term unemployment often find their career paths derailed. The current rate of GDP growth, according
to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, is 2.7% (for Q3), and it was 1.3% in Q2 of this year. This rate
reflects relatively slow growth, with challenges remaining in the domestic market and with
sluggishness in Europe suppressing exports to that region. The rate of GDP growth is predicted to
slow to a decline of 0.5% between Q4 2012 and Q4 2013, the US re entering recession, according to
the Congressional Budget Office s projections. These projections are based on the provisions of the
Budget Control Act being enacted, though any observers are doubtful that this will occur. Inflation, the

Essay on Jp Morgan Chase
J.P. Morgan Chase Case Write Up
I. Case Summary
The passing of the Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999 repealed the Glass Steagall Act, and
the rescinding of the 1956 Bank Holding Company Act. The legislation spurred a flood of mergers and
acquisitions by permitting banking, insurance, and securities firms to be affiliated/associated with one
another, as a result it became extremely profitable and advantageous for financial institutions to
consolidate and diversify their holdings. In doing so a financial firm was capable of offering a
multitude of financial products and serviced through one encompassing entity. The particular market

Because of the nature of the distinctiveness of the products offered, once a market niche is saturated it
because very difficult for competition to enter.
III. Factors Contributing to Strategic Issue
(a) Industry Analysis
Buyer (Very High Bargaining Power): The individual buyer segment is the largest of the three
segments of the credit card customer market. The threat that the buyers represent is their ability to
force prices and quality down. Furthermore, due to the plethora of alternative products the switching
cost for the customer is very low, as noted in this case, buyers possess a high bargaining power which
results in higher operating costs resulting in a deduction of profits.
Supplier (High Bargaining Power): Credit card companies are a part of a larger portfolio of companies
that are held by large commercial banks. As a result of mergers and acquisitions investment banks
entered into the credit card market sector. CCS comprised 29% of the earnings for J.P. Morgan Chase
s commercial banking division, where J.P. Morgan is the financial holding company. Despite the fact
that the credit cars sector has few players and is saturated, there are still opportunities for growth,
through international and portfolio expansion.
Substitute (High Threat Level): As the saying goes Cash is king , showing that cash is always an
especially strong substitute. In regard to other credit products; the

American were utilitarian and focused on expanding to the west and they did not realize the

The United States Department of Labor Laws
This paper will discuss the United States Department of Labor laws. Americans are protected under
these laws from injustices that may occur in the work place. There are over a hundred different laws
that have been created by the government and that companies are mandated to adhere by.
One law that many employers teeter the line on crossing on day to day bases is the Fair Labor
Standards Act. This law prescribes standards for wages and overtime pay, which affect most private
and public employment. The act is administered by the Wage and Hour Division. It requires employers
to pay covered employees who are not otherwise exempt at least the federal minimum wage and
overtime pay of one and one half times the regular rate of pay. For nonagricultural operations, it
restricts the hours that children under age 16 can work and forbids the employment of children under
age 18 in certain jobs deemed too dangerous. For agricultural operations, it prohibits the employment
of children under age 16 during school hours and in certain jobs deemed too dangerous (Summary of
the Major Laws of the Department of Labor). I personally have held positions that I thought were
promotions but once in the actual job found out that I am working twenty to thirty hours more a week
and in hindsight bringing in less income. This happens to employee s everyday and employers make
these employees salary so that they do not have to pay them increase wages. It happens more in this

Harry Strains By Jk Rowling Summary
The author J. K. Rowling wrote a book called Harry Potter. He intrigued his audience by having
different uses of imagery. J. K. Rowling describes various different ideas in his book to create
imagery, the tastes and smell of food, sounds from the forest, sights Harry Potter saw at Hogwarts, and
the feelings Harry got from his scar, therefore these are all unlike examples of different types of
imagery. The imagery used by Rowling including senses of taste, smell, hearing, sight, and touch. The
authors writing stories as Indian literature, use many various forms of structure and more to get
readers into the works. India and Pakistan writers use three types of imagery to intrigue the readers

This imagery helps readers imagine dark, gross, and scary events. The author, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, wrote
a poem called Three Quatrains, which gives an example, through his third paragraph, of dark imagery
that can be gross, I dip my fingers into my heart s blood, (Faiz 550). By imagining the hearts blood,
one can infer that the person is dying and this shows how this imagery is dark. Dark imagery also
expressed the pain through words, as the author has used pain from the tree that gives a scary and dark
image, This night is the tree of pain, (Faiz 552). Both of the words night and pain is a start to a horror
movie, but it could scare the reader, when they imagine the same dark place. Dark imagery is also
used as a confliction to confuse the readers. In the poem, Be Near Me, the author contradicts the
writing, which may confuse the audience, My tormentor, my love... darkness comes With the balm of
musk in its hands, (Faiz). This confusion between torment and love is conflicting to be a dark image,
therefore, one s mind might ultimately imagine hate. Imagery is a strong part of Indian and Pakistan
literature to ensure the audience is engaged and interested in the works of

Stereotypes In Zootopia
Most people think of small animals, such as sheep, as meek and submissive due to their frequent
portrayal as innocent characters in children s stories and folklore; in these same stories, antagonistic
characters tend to be fiercer animals such as lions or wolves. However, the children s movie Zootopia,
in which all characters are mammals, shows that this is not always the case. The characters in this film
break the stereotypes against them by being different or the opposite of what the audience expects
based on their species or occupation within the film. For instance, Judy Hopps solves the case on the
missing mammals and why they went savage despite being a dumb bunny , and Nick Wilde turns from
a sly con artist to the first fox cop. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She achieves this, however, in her very corrupt method of making every predator go savage and using
fear to control the public. When Bellwether s true identity is revealed to Judy and Nick, she expresses
that she intends to make prey oppose predators by making the citizens believe that predators are going
back to their primitive ways as hunters. She also admits that her plan was to assume power over
Zootopia by framing Mayor Lionheart and become mayor. Judy tells her it would not work, to which
Bellwether replies, Fear always works. And I ll dart every predator in Zootopia to keep it that way
(Zootopia). As an assistant mayor and a mayor, Bellwether seemed to have worked purely on good
intentions, such as when she had helped Judy and Nick find where Manchas went on the traffic
cameras, or when she tried to make Judy the face of the Zootopia police force as a heroic symbol for
the scared public. This is the typical expectation most people have for sheep characters. However,
Bellwether breaks this stereotype and strives to obtain power as mayor of Zootopia through her

Why Is The Most Fearful Of A Strong Central Government Too...
The Bill of Rights, written by Antifederalists, shows us how some Americans were fearful of a strong
central government, how they wanted a limited government so it wasn t too powerful, and how they
protected basic individual rights. The Anti federalists begged and argued for a new list that secured the
rights they believed the original Constitution did not provide. There was a constant debate between
whether or not to add the Bill of Rights, because some people thought that if they created it, all other
rights were insignificant. Many Americans were fearful that the government was going to have too
much power because of the Constitution, but they felt secure if they made a list of their official rights.
Most of the people who wanted the Bill of Rights, were poor people, who felt they needed a say in the
government.
Americans were very apprehensive about what power the government would have and they didn t
want the new United States to become like England, which had a strong central government.
Amendment 1 talks about our original rights and the rights Congress cannot make laws against. It
says, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, and ... freedom of speech, or
of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, (Amendment 1). This shows us that they
were fearful of King George s violation of these essential rights. Since King George didn t follow
these, they decided that it would be a good idea to make it an official law. This

Case Study Of Krispy Kreme And Dunkin Donuts
It is an essential to have clear understanding of an organization s purposes to understand how
organization works and its method of working can be improved. Usually, general objectives lead to
clarification of purposes and responsibilities at all level of organizations. Management is the process

that there were six primary functions of management and fourteen principles of management. Based
on his point of view, a manager must attain proper feedback process in order to make necessary

Assignment 2 The Nyonya Shop (Final Draft)
Up close, the shop is surprisingly grand and majestic, unlike the view I had from a distance with its
baby blue and lemon green pastel exterior reminding me of a newborn s nursery. Its vivid colours
makes it easy to spot along the mundane East Coast Road, but the golden carvings of a wide range of
flora and fauna that I now see in fine detail, add to this notion of grandeur. The shades grew bolder as
I approach, shifting from the sweet candy like pastel colour to the splash of persian blue which
highlights the ambience of Asian culture around the shop. The numbers 1928 boldly stand out in white
stucco above a dark green awning giving a sense of antiquity. Encrusting that curious date are a
collection of geometric patterns which match the lemon green window sills differing only in the rich

Maple Sugaring: How to Make Your Own Maple Syrup
What is your favorite thing for breakfast? French toast? Pancakes? Do you like your steaming stack of
French toast or fluffy pancakes with maple syrup? I thought so. Using your homemade made maple
syrup will make them taste even better. So, why not go back to the basics and make you own maple
syrup. Believe me, it is worth your effort. There are three basic processes involved in maple syrup
production, taping and collection, reduction of sap, and canning or bottling. ??
To begin the maple syrup production process you must chose the appropriate location and tree species.
In order to produce maple syrup you must have access ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The location of the tree holds great importance to sap collection. Trees in open environments such as
lawns and roadsides have large crowns due to the lack of competition from other trees and therefore
produce more sap that is often sweeter. To compare, a tree in an open setting has the capability to
produce a gallon of maple syrup in one season, but a tree located in a forest can only produce about a
quart of maple syrup in one season. The tree must you desire to tap be at least 10 inches in diameter
when measured 4.5 feet above the ground. Also, trees between 10 and 20 inches should only have one
tape, trees 20 to 25 inches can sustain two taps, and trees more than 25 inches in diameter may have
three or more taps. So, after your trees have been selected the next step is to determine when to tap
trees.
In Northeastern United States, sap begins to flow in the spring from late January to early February.
The time between mid February and March is often the most productive period of the sap collection
season. In order for sap to flow, temperatures must rise over 40° F during the day time and drop below
32° F during the nighttime. The sap will also fluctuate throughout the 4 to 6 week season. Early runs
are often light, whereas later runs are darker. So now that the site, tree, and time has been
distinguished, the tapping process can be performed.
To begin the process of taping a tree, you

Feeling Small: Scale and Proportion in Art As I walk on the grounds of the Nelson Atkins Museum of
Art in Kansas City, I encounter one of the Oldenburg and van Bruggen s giant shuttlecocks.
Additionally, as I view and walk around this giant shuttlecock, I cannot help but think of how this
object is disproportional, especially in comparison to it s surroundings. The shuttlecock is huge and
unbelievably larger than the average size of a shuttlecock, which would fit within the palm of my
hand. An altered view is created by the use of the visual principles of scale and proportion in order to

Information Systems Designed For Business
When we look at information systems designed for business, we tend to recognize that it involves
integrated and co ordinate network of components, which combine together to convert data into
information. In a recent book entitled a brief look into history author sage, explains that Information
system is essentially made up of five components hardware, software, database, network and people.
These five components integrate to perform input, process, output, feedback and control. (Sage, 1968).
The structure of information is composed of input, output, constraints, purpose, Boundaries. To
explain these functions we will look at a business. A call center will be an example so we will be able
to understand and recognize functions
The first function is Input, According to author Bagad, input purpose is to allow the user to enter data,
and other features include mouse and keyboard are used to insert direct information to open up certain
files or information. The choice of the input depends on the amount of data entry. The software
programs that is available to the agents so they could navigate information for user s customers who
have accounts or future customers. If there is an input system it is often follow by output .The purpose
of the output is to display the results of computer processing. A computer based information system
often requires a number of output devices as a monitor, printer and sound card.

Essay about Internet Pornography Censorship vs Free Speech
The Internet is a worldwide network of computers and databases that has evolved rapidly in recent
years. Tremendous amounts of information are transmitted and are fairly easy to obtain. Although in
the past the information available was for the most part educational and business oriented, in recent
years it has become much more diverse and questions have been raised as to the appropriateness of the
content being viewed and consumed. Another issue is whether or not the government should take an
active role in censoring it, especially when it comes to pornography, or cyberporn, as it is more
commonly referred to when it is displayed on the Internet.
Should cyberporn be censored? If so, who is responsible, parents or the government? ... Show more

The Supreme Court views obscenity as completely outside the scope of the first amendment s
protection, and the Government may regulate speech freely as long as the Miller test is fulfilled
(Simon 2).
Although many may consider pornography to be obscene, by this definition, there seems to be some
ambiguity. Pornography is defined as: Writings, pictures, etc., intended primarily to arouse sexual
desire.
Another question that needs to be asked is, does censorship of cyberporn violate the first amendment
of the constitution? The first amendment states, Congress shall make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,
or of the press; or of the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for
a redress of grievances (Bill of Rights) The Supreme Court has consistently ruled that pornography
and obscenity fall outside the first amendment. The Internet is akin to commercial network television,
and government can constitutionally restrict T.V., so why not the Internet? Probably because adult
conduct that includes sexually oriented conduct that has been considered by many to be immoral, has
been protected by the First Amendment when it takes place in a private setting (Ford, Marrin, and

Analysis Of Brian AldisBy Brian Aldiss
Brian Aldiss is one of the more popular authors that are associated with the new wave era of sci fi.
This story, in particular, has all of the elements that were described in this course; it touches upon the
changing world from a social and political standpoint, it had varying levels of sexual themes and is
thoroughly thought provoking. To truly appreciate Aldiss s writing style, reading the story more than
once will assist in gaining new viewpoints that are depicted the underlying motifs.
There are many themes that run through this short story; the one that stood out was mankind s
inability to see what is right in front of them. The word blind comes to mind. According to the
Cambridge dictionary, blind is the inability to physically see or not to be conscious of something or to
refuse to notice something that is obvious to others. That describes many of Aldiss pessimistic views
of mankind s future throughout this story along with one of the most common political catchphrases or
the the rich will get richer and the poor get poorer . Aldiss plays with this idea and depicts the divide
between social classes will eventually become so drastic that we will eventually become accepting and
ignorant of others around us because of mankind s self fish drive for more, will lead to our own
blindness of things around us.

Stealing Africa
Stealing Africa is a staggering documentary about a money hungry company called Glencore. They
are responsible for the destruction of land in Zambia that has left natives penny less. The Zambian
natives are now some of the poorest people in the world. What Glencore wants is their copper rich
grounds that can make them billions of dollars. This copper is essential in the global economy and has
caught the eyes of the world s richest companies. Today, virtually all of the copper mines in Zambia
are owned by multi national corporations. In the past ten years they have extracted enough copper to
be worth more than twenty nine billion US dollars. Ironically, ... Show more content on

So he decided to become a lawyer and go to a prestigious British law school. Later in life when he is
traveling on a train in 1900 in South Africa, he is discriminated against because he is black. This is an
eye opening moment for Gandhi because he has never experienced racism first hand before. He
considered himself to be a well respected and educated man but this does not matter one bit to the
officers. All they see is that he is black and s they throw him out of first class. He then realizes the
power of the British and decides that he is going to resist this racism but not in a violent way. This is
very pivotal because it has never been done before. Gandhi was the first person to figure out that this
way of action would actually work because of something called hard power and soft power. Hard
power is force and physical harm to make people do what you want and soft power is just the
opposite. When one of the powers is lessened the other becomes greater. Understanding this principal

Niagra Escarpment Comission
According to the Niagara Escarpment Commission, The Niagara Escarpment stretches 725 km
through Southern Ontario s landscape, from Queenston in the Niagara Region up to Tobermory in the
Bruce Peninsula. It stands prominent against Ontario s rather flat topography. It is not only a
prominent and significant feature in Ontario s landscape, but is also recognized on a national level as
one of Canada s premier biosphere reserves, highlighted by UNESCO .
UNESCO biosphere reserves are considered some of the major ecosystems in the world. According to
UNESCO, biosphere reserves are sites of excellence where new and optimal practices to manage
nature and human activities are tested and demonstrated . However when an individual s actions are
expected to negatively impact the Niagara Escarpment, limitations must be imposed on the individual
in order to preserve the biosphere for the greater good of the world. Humans must respect and follow
the regulations of an UNESCO biosphere reserve in order to maintain it. Before one looks to expand
on the Niagara Escarpment, economic, social, cultural, and environmental factors should be
considered.
Economically, new land expansion is always viewed as beneficial. When companies or industries look
to build new factories or houses, their end goal is always to make a profit. However, individual
advancement in this case has to be sacrificed for the greater good of the rest of the stakeholders. For
example, mining industries and residential lots

Gun Control
We All Have a Right to Bear Arms
The preamble of the United States Constitution clearly states its objective: to establish justice, insure
domestic tranquillity, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the
blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity
The bill of rights is the set of amendments to the constitution intended to secure these objectives for
the individual citizens of the United States. The second amendment states:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep
and bear arms shall not be infringed.
This amendment was written in the wake of the revolutionary war, when the ability to raise arms ...

The meaning of the second amendment depends on the definition of two words: Militia and
Regulated.
Some feel that the national guard fulfills the constitutional requirement for a militia. The guard is a
highly organized arm of the military that can be deployed to any part of the world and for any purpose
the commanders of the armed forces see fit. A militia however is defined by the Webster dictionary as
a group of citizens called out only in emergencies. The supreme court presented its definition of
militia in US vs. Miller (1939):
The signification attributed to the term Militia appear from the debates in the convention, the history
and legislation of colonies and states, and the writings of approved commentators. These show plainly
enough that the Militia comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common
defense...
This ruling upheld 10 USC Sec. 311. This law defined all able bodied male citizens between the age of
17 and 45 as part of the militia. The national guard is clearly part of the militia, but the militia is a
much greater force than the Guard alone. This view is the one supported by theNRA .
Those who oppose this interpretation of militia, such as the ACLU , claim that if the second
amendment allows the ownership to a gun it must also allow ownership of a tank or a nuclear bomb.
This point was also addressed in the

Crying Is The Companion Of The Spirit And The Cure Of Soul
Crying is the companion of the spirit and the cure of the soul . In life s ups and down , tears are the
closest and most loyal to the heart . When one is melancholic , s/he cries , and when one is jovial , s/he

compassionate , sensitive , soft , nurturing , intuitive , sentimental , docile , inconclusive and
emotional but prohibited on men who are supposed to be aggressive , sturdy , rational , emotionally

expressions that reveal strength , sentiment , love and respect .
The ability to accept men s crying has varied between different periods in history . To begin , the Bible

of rage , tears of pain and tears of sensitivity , .. his sobs were so loud that the Egyptians could hear.
Moreover , among Greek Heroes , tears were lavish, such as Achilles in The Illiad . In medieval

If one thinks of the word dictator, the first pictures that come to mind are of Adolf Hitler, Joseph

Republic for over thirty years. Julia Alvarez tells the story of Trujillo and his deadly regime in her
novel In the Time of the Butterflies through the eyes of four Dominican sisters. In this novel, Alvarez
combines her personal experiences from living in the Republic with the stories of the true heroes that

The conflict, which is the dictator Rafael Trujillo and his oppressive reign, is the reason why the
sisters each discover their own courage throughout the novel. Though the novel centers around the
Mirabal sisters as they grow up, the source of many of their problems is Trujillo and his actions that
are directly affecting their lives. These actions include withholding Minerva s license to practice law,
sending all but one of the husbands to prison, and putting Minerva and María Teresa under house
arrest where spies openly stalk the family and their small children on a daily basis (Alvarez 138, 171,
212). Alvarez has said that she has always felt that she has had a debt to pay to the Mirabal sisters, and
it is this deep connection to the historical figures that leaves a passionate and honored tone for the
readers that gives off a sense of utmost importance. It is clear that her entire reason to write the novel
was because of the three girls who died and the one that survived, and that Alvarez felt a burning need
to share their story with not only readers already familiar with the situation, but also with readers who
have never heard of them (Alvarez

Water, glittering, as the sun throws sparks across the creased, sapphire expanse. Flashes of the lullaby

soreness melted as we drove into Windhaven, the group of cabins where our family stays during the
weeklong annual family reunion. We got out of the car and breathed in the fresh, lake air laced with
nonchalance and the feeling and freedom of summer. My family (my mom, dad, brother, and I) drive

how to play them. Our entire family eats dinner together every night, and we play games with the
entire family after dinner. However, the highlight of our family reunion is the slide. Many years ago,

Open Carry Of Firearms Is Beneficial
Open Carry of Firearms Is Beneficial In America we have a constitution that states all the rights and
restrictions upon citizens. In the constitution, there is a huge controversy going on about the second
amendment, the right to bear arms. This amendment states that along with meeting regulations, the
American citizen is allowed to own and possess weapons of many forms. This amendment is now
under large amounts of scrutiny because of many things that have taken place in recent history. In
today s society, there are two sides to this controversy. There is the side that says that gun rights
should be heavily restricted and nearly taken away, and you have the side that says that it is our right
to own firearms. The side that says that America should restrict gun rights basically blames all of the
major events that happen for the worse on guns. The other side says that all these major events are the
result of poor decisions made by criminals that can get their hands on weapons no matter what the law
says. Openly carrying in America could help eliminate this problem by making criminals think twice.
In America there are many different views on the ownership, transaction, and possession of firearms.
In the United States Bill Of Rights it says in the second amendment that, A well regulated militia,
being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not
be infringed. This is a very vague statement that says no matter what the

Rocks and Soda
Did you know that some rumors started that said if you ate pop rocks with soda your stomach will
explode? That rumor is not true of course. Your stomach will not explode but may result in a lot of
gas. There is less carbon dioxide in a pouch of pop rocks than in half a can of soda. That means that if
you drink soda with pop rocks there will not be an explosion in your stomach. The reason for that is
because if there is not a lot of carbon dioxide than nothing is going to explode.
The soda and pop rocks experiment is mostly just mixing pop rocks and soda into a bottle. First,
sprite, Fanta and Pepsi are placed about a yard away from each other. Next, one rubber nozzle is added

Persuasive Essay About Technology
Look around. Everyone has their faces buried into their phones, laptops, iPads, etc. Many people
would say that technology is taking over in our everyday lives. I, however, beg to differ. Technology is
one of the best things the human race could get their hands on. Yes it seems like everything is in the
Cloud or everyone is tweeting, reposting, Snapchatting, and liking everything. But how I see it is, a
way for people to communicate and share ideas they have with other like minded people, accomplish
papers and essays without having to go to a library because whatever device you use, has a search
engine that can search any question you have. As an aspiring computer programmer, technology will
always play a role in my career because someone is responsible for the software and programs that
allow a computer to run, the world around us is always adapting, and without technology, where
would computer programmers be? If I received the Evolve IP Cloud Scholarship, then the scholarship
would be able to open so many doors for me because I would be able to afford continuing my
education.
To begin with, as an aspiring computer programmer, technology will always play a role in my career
because someone is responsible for the software and programs that allow a computer to run.Computer
programmers have to make the software and programs so the world can use it. It didn t just appear
there. Someone had to make the plan before it could be something great. Look at Snapchat. It didn t
just start out as an amazing social media application. No, a team of programmers came together and
made the blueprints to what is now a great application for quickly sharing photos with friends and
family. It doesn t stop a just social media applications. There are educational websites and apps such
as Edmodo, where students and teachers can communicate with one another, find class assignments,
and even turn them in electronically. Who do you think had to have done that?
Furthermore, as an aspiring computer programmer, technology will always play a role in my career
because the world around us is adapting. We didn t get stuck back when medicines, indoor plumbing,
and cars did not exist. So why should we let technology become dated? Computer

How Technology Has Changed Real Time Digital Operations

Abstract VLSI technology has been the cornerstone of every technological achievement in the past
century, but as Gordon
Moore predicted it is nearing its saturation. A lot of other technologies have been researched upon to
fulfill the needs of the fast paced world; one of the potential replacements is Quantum
Dots Cellular Automata technology which uses Nano sized particles to realize real time digital
operations. The advantage of
QCA technology over its VLSI counterpart is a set of characteristics like drastic decrease in area
consumed, less power consumption, reduced time taken for execution and higher overall efficiency. In
this paper we discuss one of the many fundamental blocks of the digital technology that is a simple
Serial register (SISO, SIPO). It finds its applications in every field be it medical where timer based
equipment s are used to monitor health or any day to day activity in which a memory unit is used.
Index Terms Serial register, QCA technology, Quantum dot,
VLSI Technology.
I. INTRODUCTION
NE of the most promising nanotechnologies in the present day scenario in a pool of various
technologies in the research phase is Quantum Dot Cellular Automata (QCA) which is able to replace

possible. As predicted by Gordon Moore, in the next few years CMOS is set to hit a

Stereotyping Stereotypes
When we use stereotypes, we are criticizing someone, for example, when we say all police officers are
corrupt, all men who aren t into sports are gay or all blonde women are dumb. Stereotyping is a result
of incompetence on distorted information accepted as a fact without question. A stereotype is simply a
widely held belief that an individual is a member of a certain group based upon characteristics.
Stereotyping can be positive, for example, all Blacks are good at sports, all Asians are good at math or
French people are romantic. Stereotypes can also help identify how to interact with each other, for
example Canadians are exceptionally polite. Either way stereotyping is morally wrong and
judgmental. If your group is positively stereotyped in an area, then you can endure a lot more
frustration and difficultly before you assume or infer that you don t belong in that domain (Steele,
2010). This paper will focus on the origin of stereotyping, how stereotypes affect judgement and
behavior and will explore profiling versus stereotyping.
Stereotyping is defined as an oversimplified, usually pejorative, attitude people hold toward those
outside one s own experience who are different. They are a result of incomplete or distorted
information accepted as fact without question. A stereotype is simply a widely held belief that an
individual is a member of a certain group based on characteristics. Due to the process of
overgeneralization within social perception, stereotyping leads to a great deal of inaccuracy in social
perception (Chandler, n.d.). ##My stance is## Stereotyping is always morally wrong and judgmental.
How you reach your opinion of others makes it morally wrong, when you encounter someone for the
first time you should not have a prejudged notion of that person, first impressions should always start
from zero. The most ethical place to begin is to acknowledge that you have biases and stereotypes and
once your interaction starts then place them accordingly. Stereotyping is a mental shortcut and this isn
t always negative although we should be aware that we all harmlessly do it and must always be
conscious of it.
As humans, we want to associate quickly for instance, tiger, danger, don t

Ted views love as being romantic and fulfilling the dream that love can bring. Ted s goal and
motivation is to find the perfect woman, so he can get married, then buy a house in the suburbs, then
have kids, and then grow old with his wife until they die. This vision that Ted has portrays the
romantic side in love, although he has to jump through many hoops in order to find his idealistic
woman through dating. The romantic love that Ted has redefines what Katz is saying in his video.
Katz says that men are tough, know that violence is the answer to everything, and that love is not
relevant in a man s mind. An example of Ted realizing that violence is wrong is when he fights with
Doug the bartender, and realizes that violence is not the answer to everything. Doug gives Ted and
Barney (excluding Marshall) free drinks, for thinking that he helped him by fighting guys who took

out because Ted and Barney were not involved in the fist fight. Once Doug finds out, he hits Ted and
Barney runs off. Ted realizes that violence is wrong because fighting really hurts your fist and face.
From Katz s view on men s characteristics, Ted is redefining the traditional man by his ways of non
violence and realizing that love is not sex. From this example, Doug reveals the traditional male
aspect of strength, and Ted revealing the modern aspect on violence as being kind and friendly. Ted s
views on love and views on violence are similar to Marshall s

Identifying Substances Using Properties Purpose: To identify unknown substances by observing their

Hypothesis: I predict that by observing and testing the properties, as well as comparing them to those
of known substances, we can identify all 5 of the unknown substances. I think this will happen
because every substance has a physical and/or chemical property or properties that differentiates it

they are both solid, white, clear, soluble in water, and dissolves in acid. However the sodium nitrate
has crystal shape which is granular, and that is different from salt s crystal form, which is cubic. That
is how I confirmed that sample C was sodium nitrate. Sample D was identified as sodium thiosulphate
because of a chemical property its reaction to acid. When the two drops of hydrochloric acid was
added, the sodium nitrate turned cloudy and yellow, which is a distinct trait of sodium thiosulphate. I
did not mistake this substance for any other substance because its reaction with acid is what confirmed
that it was sodium thiosulphate. Sample E was identified as chalk because of its behaviour in water,
also known as its solubility. After the two drops of water were added to the chalk, and it was mixed,
with a clean toothpick we saw that sample E did not mix with the water. Chalk is the only solid, out of
the five, that is insoluble. I almost mistook sample E for baking soda because the two substances have
very similar physical traits. Both substances are white, solid, opaque and a powder. However, chalk s
reaction to water and acid is different from baking soda. The chalk is insoluble with water, and its
reaction with acid is that it fizzes and some dissolves. Meanwhile, baking soda is soluble with water,

Berry s motor development was suitable for her age because she was able to run stable, jump, and ride
a scooter. Her cognitive development was also fitting for her age because she was able to
communicate to her friends as well as understand what her friends were saying to her. Lastly, her
social development was proper because she was able to interact with her friends and she played with
boys and girls with tag and hide and seek. She also wanted to fit in the group and did not want to be
left out of discussions. I believe that almost all of the theorists could use Berry as an example for their
theories in the correct settings. The theorist that would use her as example for their work in this setting
would be Vygotsky because Berry was in an outdoor setting and she had plenty of social interaction.
Vygotsky believes that children s social interaction in childhood affects their learning process. Also
this interaction helps with socialization in her education and further in

Changes In Ancient History
The reality of the phrase learn from your mistakes is one that is not often recognized. When looking at
the ancient history of the world, it is remarkable to notice the advancements of specific societies, such
as the Mayans and the Incans, have created. Not all advancements were progressive, however. Some
set the world back and made it difficult to recover from. Yet without these failures, it d be harder to
appreciate the successes that have been accomplished. Ancient history gives the new generation the
privilege to take the current problems of today, and solve them efficiently while providing concrete
evidence as to how similar problems were solved. The study of ancient societies, such as the Mayas
and the Incans, proves to be significant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many environmental activists felt that Trump s win was a loss for all that they ve been fighting for.
Steven Mufson and Brady Dennis write the response of Bill McKibben, founder of the climate action
group 350.org, when asked how the environmental movement would deal with President Trump. I
think it s clear that he wants no part of environmental progress, and I imagine the damage from this
election will be measured in geologic time. We will do what we can, but truthfully the path forward is
not all that clear to me. By studying the history of ancient civilizations, students can compare this
particular issue to ones similar and try to predict what s to come of Trump s

The Educational Achievement Gap Between Minorities And Non...
Race in America is and has always been an enormous deal and a focal point in America and of many
educational studies. Many studies have researched the educational achievement gap between
minorities and non minorities. I rather refer to it as the educational debt we as educators owe those
students, this study looks at the idea of having more teachers of color in hopes to pay our debt of
education back to these minority students. I surveyed over 100 minority students to gauge their
attitudes concerning learning, motivation, confidence and much more to see how it differs from their
minority teacher class and their non minority teacher class. I also looked at grades of 20 students and
was able to view a survey done about my class compared to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Therefore, the only thing I could think of is my race. I am one of very few African Americans on the
campus and one of few African American male teachers in the school district. Although most schools
in the district have over 90% minority students, which is not the case when it comes to the numbers of
minority educators in the classroom.
This is not just a problem in my school district or just in California but one seen across the nation.
Today in the United States minority students have actually become the majority in the classroom. With
this change, there has not been any uptick of teachers of color. One place where there is a great
disparity is Boston, for every 52 Latino students there is only one Hispanic teacher, and one black
teacher for every 22 African American students (Rich, 2015). This is not a new problem or one that
can be fixed with just money, a stroke of a pen or with this study but will take a number of things to
happen. Many studies have cited for years the importance of role models for minority students but for
some reason, they still do not have these role models and it is not concrete that these role models will
help produce a positive effect on the learning abilities of minority students.
The idea that a stroke of a pen or in other words policy, could add more teachers of color and instantly
close the gap . This idea has led to call for mass recruitment of minority teachers (see, for example,

Madonna And Madonna Comparison
The Madonna: a picturesque representation of Judeo Christian ideology s mother Mary and her young
prophetical child, an infant Christ an innocent and thus, oppressive trope of renaissance art that echoes
throughout art history as subject matter for masters from Byzantine proto renaissance, mannerist, and
baroque, to contemporary artists alike. The Madonna was, just like nearly everything with religious
epithets, a means of influencing followers. Being no exception, the Madonna represents something
sinister. Despite the lamb wool white façade incumbent to its subject, the subjugation of women
through assigning their role as conclusively maternal and depriving them of their sexuality. The
Madonna facilitates the mentality that women are merely complementary means to men that are solely
meant to execute the role of maternal figures. Two grossly contrasting works accentuate a critical
contemporary perspective on the evolution of feminine roles from early Christian ideologies. Jan Van
Eyck s 1436 painting, Lucca Madonna, and Catherine Opie s 2004 photograph, Self Portrait Nursing,
exercise formal elements to criticize the sociocultural value of women from early 15th century Europe
from a contemporary view. Although created nearly 600 years apart, both works are weighty
representations of the climate surrounding their society s perspective on femininity and reduce it to a
trite set of visual stereotypes: namely, a primary culprit of contemporary gender inequality that is the

A Explanation Of The Problem Of Homelessness
Explanation of the Variables
Homelessness is a temporary problem that people fall into when they cannot afford to pay their rent or
mortgage, or when their home becomes unsafe or unstable. Other factors, such as job loss, health and
psychological disabilities can accelerate people s slide into poverty, and for some, eventual
homelessness. The lack of housing, access to healthcare, and supportive services, then act as others
barriers that keep individuals from moving into a home.
There are a variety of different factors that can affect someone and potentially cause them to become
impoverished. These factors include: substance abuse (drugs or alcohol), mental illness, domestic
violence, job loss, eviction, army, natural disaster, no medical insurance, death of family member, and
health problems. We chose these factors because they are the leading causes of homelessness in both
men and women.
Explanation of the Hypothesis
Women s and men s homelessness is equally important in today s society, but women are often
overlooked. Our hypothesis is stating that women are not equally represented in terms of
homelessness.
Explanation of Research Methods
When planning a sociological study it is not easy to determine the most effective way to evaluate the
situation. With this study we determined that surveys and factual representations of homelessness
would be most effective for our quantitative research. Quantitative research is defined as, The use of
sampling techniques (such as

A Central Theme or Motif in the Play Othello, Is Jealousy
Jealousy is the central theme in the play Othello by William Shakespeare. It is the most famous
literary work that focuses on the dangers of jealousy. The play is a study of how jealousy can ruin
lives even with only the most circumstantial evidence of guilt. The play opens in Venice and revolves
mainly around a man called Othello. It s his actions and thoughts which makes the play interesting and
suspenseful. Themes such as love, jealousy, betrayal, honesty and vengeance are all important and
widely portrayed throughout the play. However, as we venture into the play and the character Othello,
we will realise that jealousy is ultimately the most important theme of them all. It is the fundamental
element that fuels the characters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His lack of experience brought upon his ruin. Jealousy is described throughout the play as a monstrous
emotion or more specifically, a green eyed monster . This becomes increasingly more destructive and
intense. However, it s at the end of the play that Othello commits extreme actions because his jealousy
has caused him to believe everything is true. Jealousy here is harnessed as a weapon, a weapon made
so lethal because its victim ultimately destroys himself and others around him. It is interesting that
Iago uses jealousy against Othello, as jealousy is likely the source of Iago s hatred in the first place. In
Othello, jealousy takes many forms, from sexual suspicion to professional competition, but it is, in all
cases, destructive. However, this jealousy was not originally prominent Othello, but was rather
developed through Iago s numerous plans of destruction, which is understood through Othello s
change in personality and actions taken.
By studying the text Othello by William Shakespeare, we are able to understand that jealousy is a
powerful emotion, one that can destroy relationships, and consume the mind. Whether sexual or
platonic, once the seed of jealousy is planted it can lead to devastating consequences, as seen in the
play. Jealousy can easily turn into anger, and overwhelm it s victim making them obsessed with the
notion. In the play Othello, many of the characters fall victim to

  • 5. The US Economy The United States is currently experiencing a slow recovery from the recession of 2008 09. The current unemployment rate is 7.7%, which is the lowest level since December of 2008 (BLS, 2012). However, this rate is believed to higher than the rate that would occur if the economy was operating at peak efficiency, and it is also believed that there are structural issues still underpinning this performance. For example, the number of Americans who have exited the work force as the result of prolonged unemployment is believed to be higher than usual. In addition, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO, 2012) notes that long term unemployment of greater than 26 weeks is at a much higher rate than normal, which will have adverse long run effects on the economy, since workers with long term unemployment often find their career paths derailed. The current rate of GDP growth, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, is 2.7% (for Q3), and it was 1.3% in Q2 of this year. This rate reflects relatively slow growth, with challenges remaining in the domestic market and with sluggishness in Europe suppressing exports to that region. The rate of GDP growth is predicted to slow to a decline of 0.5% between Q4 2012 and Q4 2013, the US re entering recession, according to the Congressional Budget Office s projections. These projections are based on the provisions of the Budget Control Act being enacted, though any observers are doubtful that this will occur. Inflation, the third major ... The Bill of Rights, written by Antifederalists, shows us how some Americans were fearful of a strong central government, how they wanted a limited government so it wasn t too powerful, and how they protected basic individual rights. The Anti federalists begged and argued for a new list that secured the rights they believed the original Constitution did not provide. There was a constant debate between whether or not to add the Bill of Rights, because some people thought that if they created it, all other rights were insignificant. Many Americans were fearful that the government was going to have too much power because of the Constitution, but they felt secure if they made a list of their official rights. Most of the people who wanted the Bill of Rights, were poor people, who felt they needed a say in the government. Americans were very apprehensive about what power the government would have and they didn t want the new United States to become like England, which had a strong central government. This story, in particular, has all of the elements that were described in this course; it touches upon the changing world from a social and political standpoint, it had varying levels of sexual themes and is thoroughly thought provoking. To truly appreciate Aldiss s writing style, reading the story more than once will assist in gaining new viewpoints that are depicted the underlying motifs. There are many themes that run through this short story; the one that stood out was mankind s inability to see what is right in front of them. The word blind comes to mind. According to the Cambridge dictionary, blind is the inability to physically see or not to be conscious of something or to refuse to notice something that is obvious to others. It stands prominent against Ontario s rather flat topography. It is not only a prominent and significant feature in Ontario s landscape, but is also recognized on a national level as one of Canada s premier biosphere reserves, highlighted by UNESCO . UNESCO biosphere reserves are considered some of the major ecosystems in the world. However when an individual s actions are expected to negatively impact the Niagara Escarpment, limitations must be imposed on the individual in order to preserve the biosphere for the greater good of the world. Humans must respect and follow the regulations of an UNESCO biosphere reserve in order to maintain it. Before one looks to expand on the Niagara Escarpment, economic, social, cultural, and environmental factors should be considered. Economically, new land expansion is always viewed as beneficial. The meaning of the second amendment depends on the definition of two words: Militia and Regulated. Some feel that the national guard fulfills the constitutional requirement for a militia. The guard is a highly organized arm of the military that can be deployed to any part of the world and for any purpose the commanders of the armed forces see fit. A militia however is defined by the Webster dictionary as a group of citizens called out only in emergencies. The supreme court presented its definition of militia in US vs. Miller (1939): The signification attributed to the term Militia appear from the debates in the convention, the history and legislation of colonies and states, and the writings of approved commentators. These show plainly enough that the Militia comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense... This ruling upheld 10 USC Sec. 311. This law defined all able bodied male citizens between the age of 17 and 45 as part of the militia. The national guard is clearly part of the militia, but the militia is a much greater force than the Guard alone. This view is the one supported by theNRA . Julia Alvarez tells the story of Trujillo and his deadly regime in her novel In the Time of the Butterflies through the eyes of four Dominican sisters. The conflict, which is the dictator Rafael Trujillo and his oppressive reign, is the reason why the sisters each discover their own courage throughout the novel. These actions include withholding Minerva s license to practice law, sending all but one of the husbands to prison, and putting Minerva and María Teresa under house arrest where spies openly stalk the family and their small children on a daily basis (Alvarez 138, 171, 212). Alvarez has said that she has always felt that she has had a debt to pay to the Mirabal sisters, and it is this deep connection to the historical figures that leaves a passionate and honored tone for the readers that gives off a sense of utmost importance. This amendment is now under large amounts of scrutiny because of many things that have taken place in recent history. In today s society, there are two sides to this controversy. There is the side that says that gun rights should be heavily restricted and nearly taken away, and you have the side that says that it is our right to own firearms. That rumor is not true of course. Your stomach will not explode but may result in a lot of gas. There is less carbon dioxide in a pouch of pop rocks than in half a can of soda. That means that if you drink soda with pop rocks there will not be an explosion in your stomach. The reason for that is because if there is not a lot of carbon dioxide than nothing is going to explode. The soda and pop rocks experiment is mostly just mixing pop rocks and soda into a bottle. A lot of other technologies have been researched upon to fulfill the needs of the fast paced world; one of the potential replacements is Quantum Dots Cellular Automata technology which uses Nano sized particles to realize real time digital operations. The advantage of QCA technology over its VLSI counterpart is a set of characteristics like drastic decrease in area consumed, less power consumption, reduced time taken for execution and higher overall efficiency. In this paper we discuss one of the many fundamental blocks of the digital technology that is a simple Serial register (SISO, SIPO). Stereotyping Stereotypes When we use stereotypes, we are criticizing someone, for example, when we say all police officers are corrupt, all men who aren t into sports are gay or all blonde women are dumb. Stereotyping is a result of incompetence on distorted information accepted as a fact without question. A stereotype is simply a widely held belief that an individual is a member of a certain group based upon characteristics. Stereotyping can be positive, for example, all Blacks are good at sports, all Asians are good at math or French people are romantic. Stereotypes can also help identify how to interact with each other, for example Canadians are exceptionally polite. Either way stereotyping is morally wrong and judgmental. If your group is positively stereotyped in an area, then you can endure a lot more frustration and difficultly before you assume or infer that you don t belong in that domain (Steele, 2010). This paper will focus on the origin of stereotyping, how stereotypes affect judgement and behavior and will explore profiling versus stereotyping. Stereotyping is defined as an oversimplified, usually pejorative, attitude people hold toward those outside one s own experience who are different. They are a result of incomplete or distorted information accepted as fact without question. A stereotype is simply a widely held belief that an individual is a member of a certain group based on characteristics. Due to the process of overgeneralization within social perception, stereotyping leads to a great deal of inaccuracy in social perception (Chandler, n.d.). ##My stance is## Stereotyping is always morally wrong and judgmental. How you reach your opinion of others makes it morally wrong, when you encounter someone for the first time you should not have a prejudged notion of that person, first impressions should always start from zero. The most ethical place to begin is to acknowledge that you have biases and stereotypes and once your interaction starts then place them accordingly. Madonna And Madonna Comparison The Madonna: a picturesque representation of Judeo Christian ideology s mother Mary and her young prophetical child, an infant Christ an innocent and thus, oppressive trope of renaissance art that echoes throughout art history as subject matter for masters from Byzantine proto renaissance, mannerist, and baroque, to contemporary artists alike. The Madonna was, just like nearly everything with religious epithets, a means of influencing followers. Being no exception, the Madonna represents something sinister. Despite the lamb wool white façade incumbent to its subject, the subjugation of women through assigning their role as conclusively maternal and depriving them of their sexuality. The Madonna facilitates the mentality that women are merely complementary means to men that are solely meant to execute the role of maternal figures. Two grossly contrasting works accentuate a critical contemporary perspective on the evolution of feminine roles from early Christian ideologies. Jan Van Eyck s 1436 painting, Lucca Madonna, and Catherine Opie s 2004 photograph, Self Portrait Nursing, exercise formal elements to criticize the sociocultural value of women from early 15th century Europe from a contemporary view.
