2. The Religion Of The 20th Century
The religion was first founded in New York in 1844 by William Miller. Miller started out being a
deist, but he converted and became a baptist preacher. Finally creating his own religion, and his
followers were known as Millerites. Later in 1854, J.N. Andrews, Miller, Joseph Bates, and Ellen
G. and James Springer White created the official Seventh Day Adventist Church. The official
name of Seventh Day Adventist was not officially put into place until 1863 at the first conference
and formation of the Seventh Day Adventist(SDA) Church on May 21. By the early 1870 s SDA
began to send missionaries to Europe and Australia. In 1849, the first SDA newspaper was printed

The people that are considered unworthy get destroyed, and the people that pass help Jesus
create a heaven on earth and everyone lives there in peace forever. The people that were saved
are considered God like at that point. The SDAs believe that the first covenant made between the
people and God was essentially a covenant of death. They believe we owe God our lives because
he did for us. One obtains happiness by being chosen to live on the newly created planet during
the second resurrection. The only way to get chosen and live a perfect life is to follow every
commandment word for word. The SDAs believe that the only day that is to be rested upon is
Saturday. This is because in the creation story God rested on the seventh day. They believe just
as Catholics that Abortions is wrong. It is impossible for us to be God. This is because we are
created in his image and likeness, but we are not as powerful as God. He was the first, therefore,
he knows better than us. The United States and Europe have the biggest population of Seventh Day
Adventists in the world. The next largest population is in Asia and South America. By learning
about this religion, it helps one to be able to better defend their faith, and understand where they
have gone wrong in their life. It also helps one be able to better understand where someone of that
faith is coming

3. J. B Priestley s Main Idea Of Collective Responsibility
In An Inspector Calls , J.B. Priestley s main idea of collective responsibility embodies the play
and is expressed through the views of the Inspector. We are members of one body. We are
responsible for each other. Priestley s concept of an interdependent society is highly influenced
by his experiences. Given that Priestley was part of the army in World War One and was later
awarded a place in Cambridge University, he demonstrates a vast understanding of the views of
people from different classes and the divide between the upper and lower class. Priestley uses the
characters of Sheila and Mrs Birling to represent the contrasting beliefs of capitalists and socialists,
through the viewpoints of the older and younger generations.

Initially, Priestley presents Sheila as a lively, very pleased with life girl and Mrs Birling as a rather
cold woman , however their viewpoints are still shown to be quite similar and that of a typical
capitalist.
From the start of the play, Mrs Birling is portrayed as a stubborn woman who will not accept any
blame for her actions because she thinks she is superior in comparison to other people, which is
shown when she says Girls of that class. Mrs Birling shows very little respect for the working
class and due to Mrs Birling being a representative of the capitalists, Priestley is able to show that
capitalists are less likely to care about the problems that the working class face, thus they are less
likely to accept the concept of collective responsibility. Furthermore, when she is subjected to
criticism, she avoids the blame using

4. What Is Piaget Theory Of Cognitive Development
Cognitive development Piaget theory of cognitive development. According to Piaget, there are four
stages in children and that are completed in a set order in all children. The second stage in children
is the Preoperational stage. The ages of Preoperational Stage in young children is three to six years.
Preoperational children can think in symbols and learn to interact with their environment .During
this stage, the development of language occurs. Children learn to interact with their environment
through the use of words and images. Piaget states that symbolic thought as characteristic of
preoperational thought. In symbolic thought, an object or word can stand for something else,
including something out of sigh or imagined (Berger, 10th edition pg.no. 278). Piaget states four
limits that for preoperational children to think logically, they are centration, Focus on appearance,
static reasoning, and irreversibility. He highlighted a set of experiments called conservation in
which preoperational stage children disregards logic. Conservation means the notion that the
amount of a substance remains the same even when its appearance changes (Berger, 10th
edition,pg.no.279).According to Piaget, the reason young children fails to understand conservation
is they focus (center) on what they see (appearance), noticing only the immediate (static) condition.
It does not occur to them that they could reverse the process and recreate the level of a moment
earlier (irreversibility) (Berger,

7. Essay On White Privilege
The central argument expressed by Marcus is that white privilege is not a result of a political
agenda as was previously stated by Tim Wise, but rather a psychological one. He goes on to say
that because the issue is not based on policy, the government cannot legislate it. He explained that,
almost all scientific evidence produced to describe the nature of any individual based on raceis bunk
also adding that, only when everyone views snap judgments about individuals based on race as
the absurd equivalent of such judgments based on hair or eye color, will the great moral victory
over bigotry be won (Marcus). I agree with the author that white privilege is spread by individuals
and not based on policy. However, I disagree that white privilege... Show more content on

The definition of white privilege is important because some white people deny it s existence.
According to Peggy McIntosh it is an invisible package of unearned assets, which I (Peggy

White privilege is like an invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions maps, passports,
code books, visas, clothes, tools, and blank checks (McIntosh, 1988). Often times, white people
sees the benefits of white privilege as those belonging to the elites, celebrities and politicians but
not to the regular working class white Americans. When in fact this privilege is bestowed upon
every white person regardless of whether or not they choose to take advantage of it. Not to say
that all white people are born with silver spoons in their mouths or that they get everything
handed to them on a silver platter. The issue here is that white people enjoy certain privileges
that minorities should but do not. For example, a white person does not have to worry about
getting pulled over by the police while driving a luxury car and be asked to prove ownership
because of the color of their skin. They do not worry about being followed by security while they
shop for fear they might steal something. They do not have to deal companies refusing to hire them

8. Islam And The Five Pillars Of Islam
Religious praying has been a staple in many religions to communicate to a higher being or for self
spiritual cleansing. Catholicism, for example, uses a rosary as an artifact to recite certain prayers,
and for the Jewish community they pray three times daily to observe Judaism. Islamic praying is a
different story. Muslims around the world perform the Five Pillars of Islamto appease their faith.
The Five Pillars of Islam have specific names for each pillar in chronological order; The Shahada,
Salah(also spelled Salat), Zakat, Saum, and Hajj The Salah, the second of the Five Pillars, is the
Islamic prayer performed five times a day at specific times. Performing the Salah is a way for
muslims to connect with Allah, who they regard as their one true God. The story on how Salah
came to be was from none other than the Holy Prophet Muhammadhimself in which he declared
that he had a vision, or a dream, that he rode a white animal, called the Buraq, from Mecca to
Jerusalem and from that location he ascended towards heaven itself. Once arrived he was
greeted by Moses who then took him to God s presence. From there Muhammad asked God if he
could shorten the daily number of prayers, which used to be fifty, to only five per day. Because of
this vision, the reason for reciting five prayers daily came to be. It was authenticated in the Qur an
as being a true circumstance, however it is not legitimately documented in the Qur an. Before
performing the Salah, a procedure is

Scarlett repeats variation of this line several times over the course of the novel when hardships
plague her. She knows that she often acts immorally and that she faces absurdly difficult
circumstances, and to avoid feelings of guilt and helplessness she simply avoids reflecting on her
life. Scarlett knows eventually she should mull over her plight, but she always puts it off until
another, different day, which never truly comes. But this refusal to reflect is crucial to Scarlett s
survival. Her attitude contrasts directly with Ashley s obsession with the past and inability to let
go of nostalgia and adapt to new times. Scarlett s determination tomorrow is another day indicates
her fundamental optimism about the future. Because Scarlett represents the South, her optimism
indicates Mitchell s general optimism about the South s ability to survive the face of change. An
America soon to be upended by revolutions in attitudes toward race, gender and sexual morals
(Keller, 2009). Scarlett manages to overcome adversity through brute strength of will. She
emerges as a feminist heroine because she relies on herself alone and survives the Civil War and
reconstruction unaided. She rebuilds Tara after the Yankee invasion and works her way up in the
new political order, taking care of helpless family members and friends along the way. Scarlett gave

The first definition or the basic concept of cosmopolitanism was given by the Greek philosopher
Diogenes. His reply to the question of where did he come from was that he is the citizen of the
world. The concept of the entire world as a single community and the shared existence of all its
inhabitants were established around 300 B.C.. This is where all other forms and the varied
definitions of cosmopolitanism take their source of inspiration from. Cosmopolitanism is a state of
mutual existence and citizenship in a single community regardless of the political allegiance. This
community can be formed on different basis and this particular difference is what gives

slightest element of the cosmopolitan philosophy, then Tagore s focus on cultural harmony as well
as transnational interaction is nothing but practicing rooted cosmopolitanism. This is the reason
why he was extremely committed to the idea of the revival and encouragement of the Bengali
language among the Hindu elites. Only if a nation is culturally rich can it have a healthy
transnational interaction of cultures. The appreciation of the multitude of cultures, according to

13. Examples Of Satire In Tartuffe
Tartuffe
Satire is used by many authors to convey different ideas, beliefs, or lessons. There are two
different types of satire. The first type of satire is conveys through light hearted mockery with an
underlying tone of respect, this is referred to as Horatian satire. Another type is Juvenalian satire
and that is portrayed through more serious tone, it is a call to action and is generally driven by a
sense of moral outrage. Tartuffe is a Horatian satire, rather than a Juvenalian satire. This is shown
through Tartuffe and Orgon s relationship, Dorine s character, and the ending.
Tartuffe and Orgon s relationship prove that Tartuffe is a Horatian satire because of Orgon s
obliviousness and Tartuffe s slyness. When the play begins, Molere writes Tartuffe as an innocent
guy who is in love with Mariane and is looked down upon by everyone around him. The audience
is lead to believe that Tartuffe is this charming young man who is a saint and commits no evil.

stadium also increase competition for local merchants to supply materials to build the stadium,

total income of the county or city, thereby reducing the tax burden on local citizens. The stadium
will lead to expand tourism opportunities because people will want to visit your city and watch

20. Italian Opera vs. French Opera
According to R. Wagner opera does not mean so much a musical work, as a musical, poetical,
and spectacular work all at once; opera is the work par excellence, to the production of which all
the arts are necessary (Sutherland, 1). Opera starts not with music but with its literary source (story
or plot), whether it be history, biography, fiction, or mythology in the form of poem, play, drama,
novel, or original libretto (Knapp 6). Operais a combination of mangled drama, the singers, the
musicand many different arts (Knapp, 3). An opera is not an opera without the music. The musical
representation uplifts the words and adds magic to an opera (Knapp 3). The two major components

Now the French Opera was totally different from the Italian opera. In the French opera the
instruments were more of a focus than the singers. The drama was spoken rather than sung. It
was performed on a tired stage, the high as being reserved for paradise (and the singers), the
middle one for earth, and lowest one for hell (Demuth 4). An operatic a resource that was often
overlooked, was dancing. In the French Opera singing aspect and the orchestra aspect are on the
same level as dancing. Dancing isn t really a major part of the Italian opera (Knapp 10). French
Opera was extremely popular, but only to the French. It wasn t as popular as German opera or
Italian opera. This was mainly because in the French Opera the drama came first and the music
came second. The French language was notoriously difficult to sing properly because of its lack
of strong accents (Knapp 201). To the French, words and actions were far more important than the
music so the composers have really allowed the orchestra to overpower the voice and assume the
dominant role in the opera (Knapp 202). In the French operas you would never see the singing
overwhelming the action. At its best, the French Opera offers the unity of music, drama, and
spectacle the art seeks but seldom attains (Knapp 202). It is live, it is deep and it has something

21. The Absolute Ego
During this paper I will discuss Fichte s ideas on the absolute ego and how it pertains to the idea
of God. I will also discus the similarities and also the differences between Fichte and Smakra as
outlined by Lewis. I will then conclude with my remarks and thoughts upon the subject matter.
Fichte was an idealist. This is the belief that nothing is known to us except ideas. Since this was
the belief of Fichte he avoided dualism and instead believed that only that which is in and for
consciousness can be assumed to exist. Fichte thus proceeded to explain experience as the
product of intelligence in itself. This idea of intelligence in itself is the ego. To understand this
further we must think the wall , once you think the wall then think of the person who thought the
wall, and thus you could go on indefinitely. This shows that no matter how we try to objectify the
self there always remains the pure ego. Furthermore, all can intellectually intuit the pure ego. This
is further explained that anyone who is conscious of an action as his own is aware of himself
acting. Once someone recognizes that an action is their own, the person is able to reflect on their
self consciousness and will realize that they can intuit the pure ego as an infinite activity. The pure
ego itself is not conscious; the pure ego becomes conscious through the philosophers activity
directed towards the pure ego as an activity. Once this occurs the pure ego posits itself. This pure
ego is

with toys and it didn t matter to him if it was labeled as for a boy or for a girl. As long as he was
having fun, he didn t care what he played with or what color it was. Looking back now, I
remember that the minute his step dad saw him playing with a pink toy or a doll, he would
instantly freak out. He would say something like, Hey that s for girls! or Why are you playing
with a girl toy, you faggot! I didn t understand why he was so against my cousin playing with a
toy that wasn t boy ish. It became clear to me that since early childhood, boys are forced to act
more masculine and hide underneath a mask of toughness. Having to always act tough and hide
feelings as boys may lead to them dealing with several consequences throughout their lives. So,
what exactly is masculinity? Masculinity is having qualities appropriate to or usually associated
with a man ( masculinity ). In other words, being masculine is being tough , powerful, strong, or

What were the causes and consequences of the Spanish civil war?
The Spanish Civil War had been majorly caused by a series of long term events and short term
events which had contributed to its outbreak in July 17th, 1936. The consequences of the Spanish
Civil War may be divided in terms of its effect on Spainand its effect upon the rest of the world.
Paul Preston argues that the war had been influenced by a series of events, which had built up until
the final eruption of the war in 1936. Preston argues that the social tension in Spain during the 19th
and early 20th century had contributed to the outbreak of the war. The differences between the
Socialists, Nationalists, Anarchists and the Republicans had created a very tense atmosphere ...

On the 17th and 18th of July the plotting generals seized garrisons in Morocco and Las Palmas.
The civil war had now begun.
The Spanish Civil War had led to terrible consequences for the Spanish people. Historians are in
agreement that foreign contemporaries often misunderstood the civil war as a battle between
democracy ad fascism, when in reality; it had been a complex chapter in Spain’s history.
The social consequences for Spain had been atrocious. The civil war had led to 325,000 deaths
overall. At the end of the war almost half a million Spaniards were forced into exile. Spain also lost
come of its greatest political leaders as Azana and Largo and some of its most symbolic and
beautiful voices †Lorca. Furthermore, the war had brought terror to the Spanish people. For
example, in Malaga, the terror had been inflicted on the Spanish people by their own people.
Although arguable, the Condor Legion of Germany had committed the greatest acts of terror in
1939. The Condor Legion bombed the Basque town of Guernica on the 26th of April 1937. The
bombing raid took place for three and a half hours, without any pauses, and left the town completely
destroyed. For Spain the effects of the terror was to strengthen the position of the nationalists.
Franco had leant from his days in Africa that loyalty can be installed without fear.
Politically, Spanish society was polarized by the war. The war resulted in a nationalist

Emperor of China; Self Portrait of K ang hsi Emperor K ang hsi was one of the greatest Chinese
emperors of all time. Ruling from 1662 to 1722 he was also one of the longest ruling emperors in
Chinese history and for that matter the world. K ang hsi brought China to long term stability and
relative wealth after years of war and chaos. Jonathan Spence writes from the eyes of K ang hsi
getting his information from K ang hsi s own writings. Though a little biased towards himself this
book still provides important insight into his mind. Emperorof Chinais divided into six parts; In

K ang hsi tried to stay open with the public about his health, explaining that this is the ultimate
form of honesty. Emperor K ang hsi tried to live forever through his children. He had 56
children all together but only one with his first wife, who later took over the thrown. The
Emperor was very protective of his sons and made sure they got everything they wanted. He
would often kill someone that threatened the chance of a power overthrow. He once killed three
cooks and several servant boys for suspicion of homosexual activity with his son Yin jeng. At the
end of K ang hsi s life, he became very senile and distant from reality and the Chinese people.
Even though Spence goes into great detail about Emperor K ang hsi s life than any history book
could have. He does this by emphasizing his writings and not other sources. The downfall to this
is he does not go into great detail about many of the facts or important historical events. By this
time China had foreign intervention and influence; Spence did not address any of the foreign
policies K ang hsi made during his reign. Spence only wrote one paragraph about the
confrontations with Russia, but the real even actually lasted over several decades. And the only
thing that was mentioned was how nice the Emperor was to the Russian prisoners. Emperor of China

After the fall of Amanullah Khan, Habibullah Khan Kalakani ruled for a short term and then the
Musahiban family ruled over Afghanistan from 1929 1978. The Musahiban family halted the social
changes that Amanullah Khan wanted to make which moved it away from developing the
economy, state building and modernization. The economy was the same as it was at the turn of the
century. The Musahiban family followed the policy of encapsulated modernization. They only

One of the most essential domestic successes during Musahiban was the Economic development.

There is an increasing number of diverse cultures within the health care system. Therefore, nurses in
general, or any healthcare professionals not only need to know how to care of patients from their
culture, but they also must be able to care of patients from other cultures with different health
beliefs, values, and practices. Cultural views of individuals influence their perceptions and
decisions of healthattitudes and health cares; in order to care for people across different languages

paitiens and nurses in communicating about health beliefs, values, descriptions of symptoms (Polan

they do not understand. In addition, patients were more likely to ask more questions and will have

In order to enhance my communication with non English speaking patients, I usually use language

This can be achieved through an Environmental analysis, which is an investigation of the
demographic, political, economic, social and technological influences on an industry. It is a tool to
identify changes in a business environment that can create great opportunities for the fireworks
industry and cause significant threats.
Demographic factors
China s population growth rate is only 0.47% and the population of Liuyang is estimated of
1,278,928 by 2010. The Chinese domestic market is expanding and has potential to grow. Despite
the fact that the market is faced with a number of the legal restrictions, a very intense price
competition, local protectionism and difficulties to penetrate distribution channels there are still a
number of opportunities to succeed in the fireworks industry. The foreign direct investment has
opened up in China lately. Considering a global population growth rate of around 1.14% per year
and a number of baby booms worldwide, an international market has a big potential to expand.
Economic factors
Heavy competition in the market is faced with reduced prices and profit margins affecting the
whole industry. There has been an increase in level of income, better and increased job
opportunities to the workforce in emerging markets. This is good for the industry with increased
demand, but it is a disadvantage when skilled workers

Who Wrote the Bible Review For many, the Hebrew bible is read and accepted without question.
It plays a significant role in the practice of many religions and yet not many dare to wonder who
wrote such sacred writings that would still be read to this very day. For generations, it was almost
unheard of to ask or even fathom the identity of the author. Richard Elliot Friedman, a biblical
scholar and graduate from Harvard University, explores, studies, and analyzes the bibleto discover
who wrote it. Having earned a master degree in theology, B.A degree in Philosophy, and master
degree in Hebrew literature, Friedman proves to be a knowledgeable expert in his field of studies.
From the years of work he invested into, Friedman aims to provide convincing evidence that the
book is written by four persons through historical, archaeological, logical proof. Friedman s
structure to prove that source J and E were written by different authors was jointed together because
they complimented each other in their differences. Friedman believes that source J was written by a
man in the southern kingdom of Judahbetween the time of 848 B.C and 722 B.C while the author
of source E was written in the northern kingdom of Israelbetween 922 B.C. and 722 B.C. The
narration of the stories and the time period it was written in was used to support this idea. One of

human to step onto the moon. Shortly after, Neil s crew mate and lunar module pilot in Edwin

stayed back and orbited the moon (Loff 2). It was this day that became cemented in our world s

Chuck Yeager. Along with this, his family motivated him also, specifically his wife Janet and
children Rick and Mark (Barbee, Neil Armstrong, A Life of Flight 210). During the Apollo 11

Alex Rodriguez, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds. What do all of these legendary
baseball players have in common? They are some of the all time homerun leaders in the history of
Major League Baseball. They also have another thing in common, which is how they all got onto
the career home runs list, through the use of performance enhancing drugs. The debate on whether
or not performance enhancing substances should be allowed in professional sportshas been going on
for years, decades even. Many believe that using steroids and other performance enhancers should
automatically disqualify an athlete from ever being able to be a member of the Hall of Fame, in
sports in general, not just in Major League Baseball. However, there is an argument to be made to
make the use of performance enhancing drugs legal in all of professional sports. Performance
enhancing drugs should remain illegal in professional sports because they provide an unfair
advantage, they are extremely unethical, and they can also be dangerous to athletes.
One of the biggest reasons I believe performance enhancing drugs should be illegal in sports is due
to the obvious and completely unfair advantage they provide to athletes. One of the fundamental
pillars of success in professional sports is the fact that athletes have achieved what they have by
strictly working hard, using sheer God given talent, instead of taking an obscene amount of pills

makes the snake seem virtuous. The reader feels very proud of the snake for being honorable,

41. The s Perspective On Alcohol Abuse
Bruffee s Perspective on Alcohol Abuse Bruffee was unsuccessful in grabbing my attention
because his persuasive ways were weak and ineffective. I find his persuasiveness to be imprecise
with no correlation between binge drinking and loneliness. For instance, his claims are supported
based on personal experiences and personal observations such as students having difficulty
making a new group of friends, being desperate to belong and creating an academic background.
Unlike Weschler, Bruffee does not use scientific studies, real examples and realistic solutions to
adequately connect binge drinkers and introverts; therefore, Bruffee is less successful because he
failed to support many of his claims, and his conclusion is incomplete. First of all, there is some
credibility in his article trying to capture the reader interest in why binge drinkingis an issue on
college campuses, in which he provides statistic reports with cause and effect. However, credibility
gets lost when he uses himself as an example of why students join fraternities. Bruffee says that
one of the reasons he joined was because he felt desperate to belong. In addition, Bruffee also
implies that Fitting in motivates freshmen students to join fraternities and sororities which leads
them to binge drinking. In my own perspective, his claims are lacking support and based on
assumptions of his own experience that comes off as vague and inaccurate; most of the students
would not join a fraternity just because

The role of the Catholic Church going to the peripheries is huge for the community. First off, the

Others pray for them by themselves to help for those in need. The Catholic Church is very
generous for being there when people are in need. The Catholic church greatly represents the
Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy. They would help feed the hungry by bringing goods to
those who need it. The Church can give drink to the thirsty by not wasting water. The Catholic
Church helps people to shelter the homeless by collecting supplies they need. They can clothe
the naked by donating clothes to those who don t have enough. The Church can visit the sick

Mercy can also represent the Catholic Church helping those in need. Overall, the Corporal and
Spiritual Works of Mercy really represent how the Catholic Church helps those in need, and the
Church is a good role model for all Catholics alike.
Pope Francis is a widely known current Catholic who went to the periphery. Pope Francis has
helped those who are suffering and those who are in need all the time. Pope Francis has helped
and has done many things to comfort and help those struggling. An example of Pope Francis
doing this is his trip to Philadelphia. While he was there, he visited and did many things. One
thing that was very special was on the last day of his trip. He was offered a nice dinner and a good
place to eat. However, he decided he wanted to visit Philadelphia s largest prison and spend his
meal there while he was there, he gave a speech. This probably really touched the prisoners and

43. The Effect Of Body Condition On Postpartum Interval
Introduction There has been a long history of the effect of body condition on postpartum interval;
however, there have been limited reports to elucidate the interaction between body condition score
and follicular populations and how this affects postpartum interval. Postpartum Interval is defined
as the period of sexual rest during which the reproductive system is mainly quiescent. Follicular
development is minimal; the corpora lutea, although identifiable, have regressed and are non
functional. Secretions are scanty and viscous, the cervix is constricted, and the vaginal mucosa is
pale (Sheldon, 2002). A major obstacle in maintaining a 12 mo calving interval for beef producers,
particularly for those using Brahman females, is the long duration of the postpartum anestrous
period. In order to curb this, a postpartum animal must recover from the suppressive effects of
gestation and parturition on the pituitary, ovarian and endocrine systems (Browning et al., 1994).
Pituitary and ovarian function in suckled beef cows may return within 4 to 5 wk after calving
(McNatty, 1988; Wright et al., 1990). Nutrition is a major factor controlling the length of the
postpartum acyclicity (Randel, 1990). When an animal gains or losses body condition the amount
of leptin in blood is changed (Amstalden et al., 2000; Amstalden et al., 2005), due to the increase in
adipocytes, thus affecting the release of GnRH; and thereby affecting oogenesis, follicular
maturation and ovulation (Gentry et

44. Essay On Daisy Coleman
Everyone has a story. Everyone has gone through something that has changed them. You might
have seen Daisy around campus, at the tattoo shop in town or on social media, but do you
actually know her story? In 2015, RAINN, The nation s largest anti sexual violence organization,
found out that 59% perpetrators of sexual violence were acquaintances of the victims. Survivors
don t usually come forward, because it s hard, society makes it hard. People have always seen
sexual violence as such a taboo that they are almost in denial, Daisy Coleman said. Daisy
Coleman s life changed dramatically during the winter of 2012, when she was sexually assaulted
by a well known high schoolfootball player, Matthew Barnetts, while being unconscious.... Show

My case had already gone viral and had been closed, Coleman said. It wasn t until I heard Audrie
Potts story that I decided to go full force with the documentary. She s my angel and inspiration.
After that, the Audrie and Daisy documentary was born. Being a part of such a big project, she
found herself being an inspiration for so many victims to finally stand up against their
perpetrators, said Coleman. She also wanted to do it for Audrie, who killed herself after being
sexually assaulted. She wasn t given a chance to speak out against those who hurt her so I took
the responsibility of being her voice, Coleman said. She was no different than me This past
December, Daisy became a PAVE ambassador. PAVE is a national nonprofit organization that has
goals to shatter the silence and prevent sexual violence using social advocacy, education and
survivor support. Coleman s objective for victims of sexual violence is to know that they aren t
alone in their endeavors or journey. They have a whole army of people who are 110% standing
behind them whether or not they want to speak out about their injustices. I want them to know that
whatever has happened to them, is absolutely no way, shape or form, their fault. Most of all, I want
them to quit calling themselves victims because they aren t; they are survivors and

45. The Simpsons as a Sitcom Essay
The Simpsons as a Sitcom
The Simpsons is an example of an American sitcom. A sitcom is situation comedy, which is when
the same setting and same characters appear in every episode. Examples of sitcoms are
programs such as The Crosby Show and more recent sitcoms such as Friends . Sitcoms surfaced
in the 1950 s in America showing the ideal family. Slowly sitcoms started to show the reality of
life and dealt with social issues such as divorce and unemployment. Sitcoms have become very
popular because people could relate to the program and sitcoms show problems, which happen in
every day life in a light hearted way. These are some of the reasons why The Simpsonsis very

Narrative structure is used very often in The Simpsons. Narrative structure is the way in which a
story is organised. Narrative usually consists of five stages. These are orientation, complication,
resolution, evaluation and re orientation. This system is used in The Simpsons to create humour
and also let the audience know what to expect. A good example of this structure is shown in one
Simpson s episode called Roasting on an open fire. It starts of or orientates when the family are at
a school production for Christmas setting the scene and letting the audience know that it has
something to do with Christmas. Then comes the complication when Bart gets a tattoo and they
have to use all their Christmas money to get it removed. Also Homer doesn t get his Christmas

46. Andrew Carnegie Dbq
Andrew Carnegie was an American businessman and Industrialist who led the expansion of the
American steel industry in the late 19th century. He became one of the wealthiest men during the
course of the 19th century due to his involvement in producing steel. By 1900, Carnegie mills were
producing about в…“ of all steelin the U.S. which was a huge accomplishment in the steel making
business. There is no argument that he is an extraordinary businessman who was self made and
was a hard worker who so many Americans look up to as a model businessman which is why I ask
myself, was Andrew Carnegiea hero? I believe he was a hero because he has paved the road for so
many American businessmen and meets all my requirements for being a hero by having... Show

He also created so many jobs for the United States which really helped his community a lot.
Evidence to support my first heroic trait would be in Document G, it shows a map of properties that
Carnegie had in Pittsburg and in the document note it states that Carnegie was a pioneer of Vertical
Integration. This piece of information helps my argument because it tells me that Carnegie is a
very good at what he does if he is a pioneer of Vertical Integration than he is very smart and
knows how to get what he strives and works hard for which is a big accomplishment in the
business world. Another piece of evidence that supports my second heroic trait is when, in
Document E, a note at the bottom of the graph says, By 1900 Carnegie mills were producing
about one third of all US steel. This shows me that if he produces в…“ of all US steel, then he is
giving so many jobs to Americans for producing this steel which is a great pro for the community.
Some people may say Andrew Carnegie was not a hero due to his favoritism to Scottish and
people from Pittsburgh by giving them gifts but Andrew Carnegie has given $350,000,000 to
charities that benefit his community around him. I believe that someone like Andrew Carnegie
who has courage, who is self made, and has concern for others, meet all the requirements, in my
opinion, of being a true hero. I believe that Andrew Carnegie has a positive legacy to

The biggest advantage of CAPM is simple and clear. It is the prices of any kind of risky
securities are divided into three factors: the risk free rate of return, price and unit risk. Throughout
these three factors combine together, it will provide a clear picture for the analyst. In addition,
another advantage is the usefulness of CAPM. It allows investors to review and evaluate selection

Topic of research: The effect of dietary nitrates on weight maintenance in obese population
following a 10% weight loss
TITLE
The effect of dietary nitrates on weight maintenance in obese population following a 10% weight
loss
BACKGROUND
Dietary nitrates are inorganic inert anionic compounds in fruits, vegetables and cured meats. About
80 85% of the nitrate in our diets is derived from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We hypothesize the nitrate to have significant implication on the post weight loss RMR and
possibly cause relapsing of the weight loss.
STUDY DESIGN AND OUTCOMES
A 6 month randomized three way crossover trial consisting of three groups: 20 healthy, 20
obese, and 20 mixed participants (placebo group for nitrate supplementation)is proposed. All
groups will be screened for thyroid function, hepatitis A B and HIV).All participants will be kept
on a low nitrate weight maintenance diet formula till the weight remains constant for 2 weeks
(weight change 10 g/d). RMR is measured using indirect calorimetry. They are then fed a
hypocaloric diet(800 kcal/d) until a 10% weight loss is achieved(estimated time 12 weeks).RMR
and weight is measured again. The formula diet is reinstated and 0.1mmol/kg/d inorganic nitrate
for a period of 3 weeks is given along with it to the two groups excluding the placebo group. RMR,
plasma and salivary nitrite levels and weight changes are recorded.
SIGNIFICANCE
The only study on effect of nitrates on RMR was on healthy humans and no study has been done to
study their effect on weight maintenance. Obesity is a serious condition and long term maintenance
of target weight by obese individuals is not very successful(Wing Phelan, 2005). This study aims
study the differences in RMR changes after a nitrate rich diet between obese and healthy subjects
and see the practical implications of a reduced RMR by dietary nitrates consumption on

49. A Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition
SCADA/ Stuxnet Worm A Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system consists of
both hardware and software that collects critical information to keep a facility operating (Johnson
Merkow, 2011, p. 227). SCADA system vulnerabilities include the lack of monitoring, slow updates,
lack of knowledge about devices, not understanding traffic, and authenticationholes (Adams, 2015).
When an organization doesn t monitor the network, it makes it impossible to notice suspicious
activity. System updates are a very important part of protecting against vulnerabilities, even though
it may be seen as an inconvenience. The lack of knowledge about the devices is somewhat due to
the fact that the SCADA systems change over time. Therefore,... Show more content on

This put other organizations that used equipment from the same SCADA system supplier in
jeopardy. It also raised awareness of possible collateral damage (Chung, 2013). The Stuxnet worm
infected a significant amount of computers. Additionally, it changed part of the security
infrastructure of the United States. Stuxnet didn t prove that cyber attacks are low risk operations.
Rather, it suggests that the effects, and thus the risks, of cyber attacks are unpredictable (Manzo,
2013) . There are vulnerable computer networks and systems that support U.S. economic activities,
military capabilities, and societal services such as critical infrastructure (Manzo, 2013). U.S.
officials came to the conclusion that the effects and risks of the Stuxnet operation were
proportionate to the payoffs, other countries might reach similar conclusions about cyber attacks
against the United States (Manzo, 2013). Improving cyber defenses, attribution capabilities, and
developing credible retaliatory options will play an important role in deterring and mitigating
direct cyber attacks, but cascading viruses launched at other countries could eventually penetrate
and damage U.S. networks (Manzo, 2013) . ICS CERT released ICSA 10 201 01 Malware

50. Edgar Allan Poe Symbolism
Poetry Analysis Essay: Alone by Edgar Allan Poe
Alone; Alone is one word that perfectly describes Edgar Allan Poe s devastating life of sorrow; a
never ending depression. This poem is the basic rundown of how loneliness played an important
factor in the life of Poe stating how he was never like the others and how with even joy and
happiness, despair affected him. The poem, Alone by Edgar Allan Poe, has an abundant usage of
symbolism and a unique way of using tone to create the poem that brings his true meaning of a
man s life who has been living in isolation and melancholy.
One poetic element used in this poem is symbolism. Symbolism is used in Alone as a way for
Poe to express his true feelings by using words to create an image or representation of the way he
wants his readers to interpret the poem; using symbolism will generate a time period of Poe s
life. The reason behind this is, because the words chosen, symbolize the ongoing idea of
loneliness in the poem. For example, Poe writes, (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a
demon in my view (Poe 21 22). This is the representation of how around Poe, there was happiness
around him but all Poe saw was great despair from within due to the great loneliness. Another line
in Alone by Poe is, From the thunder and the storm, And the cloud that took the form (Poe 19 20),
which creates the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

51. Courtly And Secular Love Analysis
Throughout history, love has been portrayed in numerous perspectives ranging from physical to
emotional love. Literary works from various backgrounds provide distinctive interpretations of
love. Marie de France along with medieval lyric poets touch upon topics revolving around love and
spiritual affection. The pieces provide different treatments on courtly and secular love, illustrating
the comparison between the physical and emotional aspect as well. Courtly lovedraws from the
characteristics of passionate affections between nobles with someone other than their spouse (Doan,

This depiction provides the authors perspective on courtly love which contradicts modern views
of love. The husband is shown to be more of a villain, contradicting modern views where the one
having an affair is typically viewed more negative. Marie de France portrayal of the love and
specifically courtly love contrasts with modern day views. However, her works provide
perspectives of love base on her culture and time through the use of figurative language and
symbolism to depict of courtly love.
Additionally, Ibn Zaydun, an Arabian lyric poet also uses figurative language in his literature to
depict his sentiments towards spiritual love. Ibn Zaydun highlights the surrounding nature in
order to portray the peace of his love. He describes, When I see the silver/Coiling waterways/Like
necklaces detached from throats... (book324). He utilizes figurative language to express his
emotional love by comparing the surrounding beauty of nature to his pure love . He addresses the
abandonment from his lover by ending his description of nature towards the end. This provides the
conclusion of his lover s affection towards him. Ibn Zaydun and Marie de France both use
figurative language in order to convey their sentiments of emotional and spiritual love.
On the other hand, poets use figurative language in order to convey physical attraction and portray
their perspective on secular love. William IX, a French medieval lyricist,

America during the 1920 s is often described as a time of prosperity and change that allowed the
United States to peak. However, what is commonly overlooked is that this era was conflict filled in
which society was blinded by luxurious lifestyles and the entertainment industry; preventing any
solutions from being formed that could deal with the various issues. It was the people s ignorance
and the problem filled cities that slowly pushed America into the great depressionwithin a decade.

There were several conflicts that arose, but the three that had the most negative impacts upon the
United States would have to be the effects of the Red Scare, the return of the KKK, and the
increase of organized crime. In the midst of World War I, Russia and Germany signed a peace
treaty known as the Treaty of Brest Litovsk, in which Russia agreed to exit the Great War and deal
with issues back home. Shortly after this occurred, Vladimir Lenin led the Bolshevik Revolution.
This caused the Czar of Russia to be overthrown, in which Lenin became the new ruler of Russia
and set up the very first communist regime. Communism was determined to be capitalism s rival
and abolish it within the world economy, sparking a wide spread panic among the United States
known as the Red Scare. Americans were scared of communist spreading throughout the United
States in the form of spies or invasion. This caused the government to take rash, unconstitutional
actions towards non natural born Americans throughout the nation, commencing the Palmer Raids

53. The Importance Of Net Neutrality
Net neutrality is the idea of internet users should have equal access to internet content without any
restrictions. Net neutrality has been around since the early 2000 s and it is a debate between
government regulations concerning internet content and Internet providers (ISPs). This debate
covers a set of Internetrules imposed by the Federal Communications Commission(FCC) and the
Internet providers efforts to reduce access to certain sites or internet services. The FCC is an
agency of the U.S government responsible for developing the regulations of internet. This event
started in 1934 when the Communications Act placed restrictions on companies providing telegram
and telephone services and established the FCC must have the authority to prevent carriers from
restricting the flow of information for political, personal or financial reasons. In the 1996, Telecom
Act defined Internet service providers as information services rather than telecommunications
services.
In 2005, the FCC announced its commitment to keep the accessibility of internet to everyone. ...

Internet protest, but the ISPs responded almost immediately with something called the Internet
