India has one in every of the biggest technical work force within the world. However, compared to its population it's not significant and there's a tremendous scope of improvement during this area. In India, the emphasis has been on general education, with vocational education at the receiving end. This has resulted in large number of educated folks remaining unemployed. This phenomenon has currently been recognized by the planners and therefore there's a larger thrust on vocationalization of education. Another shortcoming within the area of technical and education is that until currently, the number of engineers graduating is more than the diploma holders. This is often creating an imbalance, as additional workforces are required at the lower level.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Wastemanagement–aplaguingissue…
Gurgaon is a city with tremendous advantages and
unfortunately, tremendous problems too and waste
management is one of them. Of all the waste streams,
waste from electrical and electronic equipment
containing new and complex hazardous substances
presents the fastest-growing challenge that needs to be
addressedproactively.
Issuesdiscussed…

a) How serious is Gurgaon's waste management
problem?
b)PolicyPerspectives&governmentinitiatives
c)SolutionsandWayForward
d)SuccessStories
Recommended Action Points and Solutions for
WasteManagement
ŸAn integrated approach using processing, recycling,
composting and power generation is needed to make
thiscityclosetoazerowastecitystatus.
ŸThe Bandwari plant is running sub-optimally. Within
two years of operation, already 50 per cent land has
been occupied by garbage in the plant. More capacity
canbeaddedtotheplant.
Call to Revamp Gurgaon's Waste Management Strategy!
Building Lives, September 2013 7
ŸBesides, a proposal for a facility near Kachra Chowk on
the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road has remained stuck for
the last 2-3 years. If the area earmarked falls under the
protected Aravalli Range, then an alternate site be
identified.
ŸThe most important concern currently is to reduce the
land requirement for disposal of waste by maximising
appropriate treatment of different waste streams, in
order to reduce volumes of waste requiring being
land-filled. Besides, reservation of land for processing
& disposalofwasteintheZonalPlansissuggested.
ŸCorporatesneedtobeencouragedtosellwastetoonly
proper segregators and recyclers and not to the
unorganizedsector.
ŸIn order to mitigate adverse impact to the
environment, the immediate development of
incineration process is proposed. Alongside this, the
closure, capping and landscaping of existing dump-
siteswouldhavetobeundertaken.
ŸAuthorities should earmark funds for processing and
treatmentofwaste.
ŸThere should also be an institutional framework for
coordinationamongststakeholders.
ŸSome initiatives have been taken in different states to
address the issue of C&D waste independently or in
tandem with the existing Municipal solid Waste
(ManagementandHandling)rules2000.
ŸCitizens should be made aware of source segregation
of waste. The city's RWAs canbe encouragedto deploy
organic waste converter machines at the local level
thatcanconvertwasteintohighvaluemanure.
ŸCapacity building at the level of the authorities is a
must along with removal of malpractices in the
contractingsystemalsoneedurgentattention.
ŸIn conclusion, what is needed is a clear waste
management policy at the level of MCG, fast action
on planned projects, and a greater involvement of
public.
