networks applications in based on the simulations. A Realistic Mobility model is a basic component for VANET simulation that
ensures that conclusion drawn from simulation experiments will carry through to real deployments. This paper attempts to evaluate the
performance of a Bee swarm inspired Hybrid routing protocol for vehicular ad hoc network, that protocol should be tested under a
realistic condition including, representative data traffic models, and the realistic movement of the mobile nodes which are the vehicles.
In VANET the simulation of Realistic mobility model has been generated using SUMO and MOVE software and network simulation
has been performed using NS2 simulator, we conducted performance evaluation based on certain metric parameters such as packet
delivery ratio, end-to-end delay and normalized overhead ratio.

During the last few years, continuous progresses in wireless communications have opened new research fields in computer networking, aimed at extending data networks connectivity to environments where wired solutions are impracticable. Among these, vehicular traffic is attracting a growing attention from both academia and industry, due to the amount and importance of related distributive applications to mobile entertainment. VANETs are self-organized networks built up from moving vehicles, and are part of the broader class of MANETs. Because of these peculiar characteristics, VANETs require new networking techniques, whose feasibility and performance are usually tested by means of simulation. In order to meet performance goals, it is widely agreed that VANETs must rely heavily on node-to-node communication. In VANET, each vehicle acts as a node and communicates with other vehicles within the range or communicates with base stations. The main idea is to deploy a wireless communication network that has a capability of sending and receiving messages between transmitter and mobile devices in the particular network. Results can be shown using an effective VEINS Simulator. This Simulator can produce detailed vehicular movement traces and can simulate different traffic conditions through fully customizable scenarios. The Framework is expected to be employed using such simulator that makes use of traffic modulator, network simulator and coupling module that integrates the traffic and network.

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) allow vehicles to contact one another to provide safety and comfort applications. However, mobility is a great challenge in VANETs. High vehicle speed causes topological changes that result in unstable networks. Therefore, most previous studies focused on using clustering techniques in roads to reduce the effect of vehicle mobility and enhance network stability. Vehicles stop moving at intersections, and their mobility does not impact clustering. However, none of previous studies discussed the impact of vehicle stopping at intersections on base stations (BSs). Vehicles that have stopped moving at intersections continue to send the same information to BSs, which causes duplicated information. Hence, this study proposes a new method named dynamic multiagent (DMA) to filter cluster information and prevent duplicated information from being sent to BSs at intersections. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated through simulations during the use of DMA and without-DMA (W-DMA) methods based on real data collected from 10 intersections in Batu Pahat City, Johor, Malaysia. Overall, the proposed DMA method results in a considerable reduction in duplicated information at intersections, with an average percentage of 81% from the W-DMA method.

Using advanced wireless local area network technologies, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) have become viable and valuable for their wide variety of novel applications, such as road safety, multimedia content sharing, commerce on wheels, etc., currently, geographic routing protocols are widely adopted for VANETs as they do not require route construction and route maintenance phases. Again, with connectivity awareness, they perform well in terms of reliable delivery. Further, in the case of sparse and void regions, frequent use of the recovery strategy elevates hop count. Some geographic routing protocols adopt the minimum weighted algorithm based on distance or connectivity to select intermediate intersections. However, the shortest path or the path with higher connectivity may include numerous intermediate intersections. As a result, these protocols yield routing paths with higher hop count. In this paper, we propose a hop greedy routing scheme that yields a routing path with the minimum number of intermediate intersection nodes while taking connectivity into consideration. Moreover, we introduce back-bone nodes that play a key role in providing connectivity status around an intersection. Apart from this, by tracking the movement of source as well as destination, the back-bone nodes enable a packet to be forwarded in the changed direction. Simulation results signify the benefits of the proposed routing strategy in terms of high packet delivery ratio and shorter end-to-end delay.

Abstract: Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) can provide scalable and cost-effective solutions for applications such as traffic safety, dynamic route planning, and context-aware advertisement using short-range wireless communication. To function properly, these applications require efficient routing protocols. However, existing mobile ad hoc network routing and forwarding approaches have limited performance in VANETs. This dissertation shows that routing protocols which account for VANET-specific characteristics in their designs, such as position and mobility of Vehicle, can provide good performance for a large spectrum of applications.
Increased vehicular traffic demands smart vehicles which can interact with each other and roadside infrastructure to prevent accidents. Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) provides this flexibility to the vehicles. In this desertion we initially analyze the performance of AODV and OLSR, and further we improve the performance of AODV by selecting the node on the basis of trust value of the successive nodes, we also reduce the neighbor hood expiry time and correspondingly update the route table of AODV, with this purposed approach we would be able to reduce the end-to-end delay of AODV sufficiently also the performance of AODV increase in terms of Throughput and packet delivery ratio.Keywords: VANET, AODV, ROUTING, ROUT TABLE.

Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is a subdivision of the mobile ad hoc networks which uses the moving vehicles as mobile nodes to form the mobile network. In conventional vehicular communications, the restricted radio frequency bandwidth affects the network performances. Therefore, Visible Light Communication (VLC) is integrated with the growing vehicular ad hoc network to obtain high data rate and less energy consumption during the communication. In this paper, vehicular communication is integrated with visible light communication to avoid the issues caused by the restricted radio frequency bandwidth. Moreover, the Routing using Biogeography Based Optimization (RBBO) is proposed to develop an optimal route between the source vehicles to the destination. This research performs two different communications such as vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to the infrastructure. The performance of the RBBOVLC-VANET method is analyzed by means of throughput, packet delivery ratio, delay and routing overhead as well as these performances are compared with the existing method namely ant colony optimization based routing protocol. The throughput of the routing using the biogeography based optimization method is 589.763 kbps for 500 nodes which is high when compared to the existing method.

vehicle safety, efficiency of traffic. Vehicular Ad-hoc Network not only just provides the safety applications, but
also provides communication to the users. The QoS support in VANET is a challenge when the existing routing
paths become no longer are available as a result of changes in the velocity and position of node, and distance
between the vehicular nodes or network topology. In this study we designed a framework which provides us the
facility to enhance various Quality of Service parameters, such as End to End Delay, throughput and packet loss
ratio etc. The proposed model uses layered approach, deep classification as existed QoS components are further
broken down and provides Quality of Experience to the users. NCTUns is used as simulation tool to build up
simulations. After getting the results of simulation we carried out the performance analysis of various routing
protocols. The simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme provides much better performance in terms
of various QoS parameters like End to End Delay, throughput and packet loss ratio

In this work, hybrid two stage heuristic routing protocol which is based on ant colony optimization and particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to make routing more efficient in Vehicular Ad hoc Network. The MATLAB software is used to implement the algorithm. The result shows that two stage heuristic protocol perform better than Ad hoc on Demand Vector (AODV) protocol. Routing in Vehicular Adhoc Networks is a challenging task where the nodes themselves are vehicles. The mobility factors such as beacon intervals and vehicles with different velocities may cause inaccuracy in the identification of the vehicle's position. This in turn affects the performance of the position based routing protocols. Further, there is a need to evaluate through simulations performance of the position based routing protocol, especially in urban realistic scenarios for VANETs. The work in this paper evaluates the performance of Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing protocol (GPSR) for VANETs which is a popular position based protocol especially for routing in MANETs. In order to evaluate realistic simulation environment bi-directional coupling of OMNET++/ INET Framework and SUMO is chosen for Nagarbhavi region in Bengaluru, India. The simulations are done for various scenarios realizing the impact of mobility parameters on routing using GPSR, and performance is measured in terms of packet delivery ratio and throughput.

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have been one of the promising technology that has a great interest attention from many researchers over the world. Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) communications environment as a part of ITS opens the way for a wide range of applications such as safety applications, mobility and connectivity for both driver and passengers to exploit the transport systems in a smoothly, efficiently and safer way. Several challenging tasks facing adopting VANET functionality for ITS such as modelling of wireless transmission and routing issues. These research issues have become more critical due to the high mobility of vehicles nodes (transmitters and receivers) and unexpected network topology due to the high speed of nodes. In fact, modelling radio propagation channel in VANET environment which considers as one of a stringent communications environment is a challenging task. The selection of a suitable transmission model plays a key role in the routing decisions for VANET. Different propagation models allow calculating the Received Signal Strength (RSS) based on key environmental properties such as the distance between transmitter vehicle and a receiver vehicle, the gain and antenna height of transmitter and a receiver vehicles. Hence, it is useful to calculate RSS and SNR values for a specific propagation model and then these values can be used later for routing decision in order to find the best path with high SNR. This paper evaluates the performance of different transmission models (freespace, two-ray and log-normal) in terms of Receive Signal Strength (RSS). In addition, the performance of such wireless transmission models for vehicular communication in terms of PDR, throughput and delay is evaluated by applying the proposed cross layer routing approach based on IEEE 802.11p. By using MATLAB, the obtained results confirm the best packet delivery ratio for our proposed approach, where it indicates poor quality of DSSS PHY with high number vehicles. The minimum delay achieved when traffic density is decreased.
GPSFR: GPS-Free Routing Protocol for Vehicular Networks with Directional Ante...ijwmn
Efficient and practical communications between large numbers of vehicles are critical in providing high level of safety and convenience to drivers. Crucial real-time information on road hazard, traffic conditions and driver services must be communicated to vehicles rapidly even in adverse environments, such as “urban canyons” and tunnels. We propose a novel routing protocol in vehicular networks that does not require position information (e.g. from GPS) but instead rely on relative position that can be determined dynamically. This GPS-Free Geographic Routing (GPSFR) protocol uses the estimated relative position of vehicles and greedily chooses the best next hop neighbor based on a Balance Advance (BADV) metric which balances between proximity and link stability in order to improve routing performance. In this paper, we focuses primarily on the complexity of routing in highways and solves routing problems that arise when vehicles are near interchanges, curves, and merge or exit lanes of highways. Our simulation results show that by taking relative velocity into account, GPSFR reduces link breakage to only 27% that of GPSR in the dense network. Consequently, GPSFR outperforms GPSR in terms of higher data delivery ratio, lower delay, less sensitivity of the network density and route paths’length

simulations. After getting the results of simulation we carried out the performance analysis of various routing
protocols. The simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme provides much better performance in terms

This process should happen within fraction of seconds which is more complicated issue in highly mobile vehicles, so routing is a major problem in Vehicular Ad hoc Network. In this work, hybrid two stage heuristic routing protocol which is based on ant colony optimization and particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to make routing more efficient in Vehicular Ad hoc Network. The MATLAB software is used to implement the algorithm. The result shows that two stage heuristic protocol perform better than Ad hoc on Demand Vector (AODV) protocol. Further, there is a need to evaluate through simulations performance of the position based routing protocol, especially in urban realistic scenarios for VANETs. The work in this paper evaluates the performance of Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing protocol (GPSR) for VANETs which is a popular position based protocol especially for routing in MANETs. In order to evaluate realistic simulation environment bi-directional coupling of OMNET++/ INET Framework and SUMO is chosen for Nagarbhavi region in Bengaluru, India. The simulations are done for various scenarios realizing the impact of mobility parameters on routing using GPSR, and performance is measured in terms of packet delivery ratio and throughput.

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have been one of the promising technology that has a great interest attention from many researchers over the world. Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) communications environment as a part of ITS opens the way for a wide range of applications such as safety applications, mobility and connectivity for both driver and passengers to exploit the transport systems in a smoothly, efficiently and safer way. Several challenging tasks facing adopting VANET functionality for ITS such as modelling of wireless transmission and routing issues. These research issues have become more critical due to the high mobility of vehicles nodes (transmitters and receivers) and unexpected network topology due to the high speed of nodes. In fact, modelling radio propagation channel in VANET environment which considers as one of a stringent communications environment is a challenging task. The selection of a suitable transmission model plays a key role in the routing decisions for VANET. Different propagation models allow calculating the Received Signal Strength (RSS) based on key environmental properties such as the distance between transmitter vehicle and a receiver vehicle, the gain and antenna height of transmitter and a receiver vehicles. Hence, it is useful to calculate RSS and SNR values for a specific propagation model and then these values can be used later for routing decision in order to find the best path with high SNR. This paper evaluates the performance of different transmission models (freespace, two-ray and log-normal) in terms of Receive Signal Strength (RSS). In addition, the performance of such wireless transmission models for vehicular communication in terms of PDR, throughput and delay is evaluated by applying the proposed cross layer routing approach based on IEEE 802.11p. By using MATLAB, the obtained results confirm the best packet delivery ratio for our proposed approach, where it indicates poor quality of DSSS PHY with high number vehicles. The minimum delay achieved when traffic density is decreased.

Efficient and practical communications between large numbers of vehicles are critical in providing high level of safety and convenience to drivers. Crucial real-time information on road hazard, traffic conditions and driver services must be communicated to vehicles rapidly even in adverse environments, such as “urban canyons” and tunnels. We propose a novel routing protocol in vehicular networks that does not require position information (e.g. from GPS) but instead rely on relative position that can be determined dynamically. This GPS-Free Geographic Routing (GPSFR) protocol uses the estimated relative position of vehicles and greedily chooses the best next hop neighbor based on a Balance Advance (BADV) metric which balances between proximity and link stability in order to improve routing performance. In this paper, we focuses primarily on the complexity of routing in highways and solves routing problems that arise when vehicles are near interchanges, curves, and merge or exit lanes of highways. Our simulation results show that by taking relative velocity into account, GPSFR reduces link breakage to only 27% that of GPSR in the dense network. Consequently, GPSFR outperforms GPSR in terms of higher data delivery ratio, lower delay, less sensitivity of the network density and route paths’length

In our propose work, we calculate the trust of each vehicle's on the basis of their behavior. Each vehicle calculates the trust of its neighbor and send this value to AS by RSU then AS update these values and then broadcast this value by RSU, now all the vehicles have a trust value of its neighboring vehicles so that send the data by using hashing technique and use trusted path to send data source to a destination so that security enhances.

Several protocols wanted to build a cluster in low density traffic where the numbers of vehicles are less with respect to transmission range & there is a less chance of broadcast storming which is not a practical scenario. So that cluster formation in high density traffic has arisen as an issue where there is a great possibility to broadcast storm. This paper suggests a “Priority Based Master-Slave Cluster Formation Process” in high density traffic for an urban scenario using “fidelity” metric. With the help of this metric it will be easier to find high density traffic & form priority based Master-Slave dynamically by reducing broadcast storm problem.

Abstract : Vehicular communication is considered to be a backbone for many critical safety applications. In
order to achieve a better implementation of any vehicular communication scenario, an efficient, accurate and
reliable simulator is essential. Various open source and commercial simulating tools are available for this
purpose. One of the key issues in this regard is the selection of a reliable simulator which implements all
standard algorithms and paradigms giving accurate results. In this paper, we first present IEEE standard and
protocols for vehicular communication, IEEE 802.11p and IEEE 1609.x, also known as WAVE protocol stack.
The paper then discusses the necessary requirements for a generic discrete event simulator which can be used to
simulate Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks. Since not all the network simulators can be used in the scenario of
vehicular communication, we highlight the key features of some network simulators in the context of vehicular
ad-hoc networks. The paper also highlights some of the implementation limitations in these simulators.
Furthermore, the paper presents a discussion on traffic simulators by emphasizing on the underlying mobility
models used in order to generate the realistic traffic patterns. A comparative study of both network and traffic
simulators show the pros and cons of these simulation tools. The paper suggests the appropriate choice of a
network simulator to be used as a VANET simulator.

Text Mining in Digital Libraries using OKAPI BM25 ModelEditor IJCATR
The emergence of the internet has made vast amounts of information available and easily accessible online. As a result, most libraries have digitized their content in order to remain relevant to their users and to keep pace with the advancement of the internet. However, these digital libraries have been criticized for using inefficient information retrieval models that do not perform relevance ranking to the retrieved results. This paper proposed the use of OKAPI BM25 model in text mining so as means of improving relevance ranking of digital libraries. Okapi BM25 model was selected because it is a probability-based relevance ranking algorithm. A case study research was conducted and the model design was based on information retrieval processes. The performance of Boolean, vector space, and Okapi BM25 models was compared for data retrieval. Relevant ranked documents were retrieved and displayed at the OPAC framework search page. The results revealed that Okapi BM 25 outperformed Boolean model and Vector Space model. Therefore, this paper proposes the use of Okapi BM25 model to reward terms according to their relative frequencies in a document so as to improve the performance of text mining in digital libraries.

Early detection of diabetes mellitus (DM) can prevent or inhibit complication. There are several laboratory test that must be done to detect DM. The result of this laboratory test then converted into data training. Data training used in this study generated from UCI Pima Database with 6 attributes that were used to classify positive or negative diabetes. There are various classification methods that are commonly used, and in this study three of them were compared, which were fuzzy KNN, C4.5 algorithm and Naïve Bayes Classifier (NBC) with one identical case. The objective of this study was to create software to classify DM using tested methods and compared the three methods based on accuracy, precision, and recall. The results showed that the best method was Fuzzy KNN with average and maximum accuracy reached 96% and 98%, respectively. In second place, NBC method had respective average and maximum accuracy of 87.5% and 90%. Lastly, C4.5 algorithm had average and maximum accuracy of 79.5% and 86%, respectively.

Evaluating Semantic Similarity between Biomedical Concepts/Classes through S...Editor IJCATR
Most of the existing semantic similarity measures that use ontology structure as their primary source can measure semantic similarity between concepts/classes using single ontology. The ontology-based semantic similarity techniques such as structure-based semantic similarity techniques (Path Length Measure, Wu and Palmer’s Measure, and Leacock and Chodorow’s measure), information content-based similarity techniques (Resnik’s measure, Lin’s measure), and biomedical domain ontology techniques (Al-Mubaid and Nguyen’s measure (SimDist)) were evaluated relative to human experts’ ratings, and compared on sets of concepts using the ICD-10 “V1.0” terminology within the UMLS. The experimental results validate the efficiency of the SemDist technique in single ontology, and demonstrate that SemDist semantic similarity techniques, compared with the existing techniques, gives the best overall results of correlation with experts’ ratings.

A Strategy for Improving the Performance of Small Files in Openstack Swift Editor IJCATR
This is an effective way to improve the storage access performance of small files in Openstack Swift by adding an aggregate storage module. Because Swift will lead to too much disk operation when querying metadata, the transfer performance of plenty of small files is low. In this paper, we propose an aggregated storage strategy (ASS), and implement it in Swift. ASS comprises two parts which include merge storage and index storage. At the first stage, ASS arranges the write request queue in chronological order, and then stores objects in volumes. These volumes are large files that are stored in Swift actually. During the short encounter time, the object-to-volume mapping information is stored in Key-Value store at the second stage. The experimental results show that the ASS can effectively improve Swift's small file transfer performance.

Later in 2016, Nigeria implemented a unified structure as recommended by the IMF, where all government funds are collected in one account would reduce borrowing costs, extend credit and improve government's fiscal policy among other benefits to government. This situation motivated us to embark on this research to design and implement an integrated system for vehicle clearance and registration. This system complies with the new Treasury Single Account policy to enable proper interaction and collaboration among five different level agencies (NCS, FRSC, SBIR, VIO and NPF) saddled with vehicular administration and activities in Nigeria. Since the system is web based, Object Oriented Hypermedia Design Methodology (OOHDM) is used. Tools such as Php, JavaScript, css, html, AJAX and other web development technologies were used. The result is a web based system that gives proper information about a vehicle starting from the exact date of importation to registration and renewal of licensing. Vehicle owner information, custom duty information, plate number registration details, etc. will also be efficiently retrieved from the system by any of the agencies without contacting the other agency at any point in time. Also number plate will no longer be the only means of vehicle identification as it is presently the case in Nigeria, because the unified system will automatically generate and assigned a Unique Vehicle Identification Pin Number (UVIPN) on payment of duty in the system to the vehicle and the UVIPN will be linked to the various agencies in the management information system.

Energy-Aware Routing in Wireless Sensor Network Using Modified Bi-Directional A*Editor IJCATR
Energy is a key component in the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN)[1]. The system will not be able to run according to its function without the availability of adequate power units. One of the characteristics of wireless sensor network is Limitation energy[2]. A lot of research has been done to develop strategies to overcome this problem. One of them is clustering technique. The popular clustering technique is Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH)[3]. In LEACH, clustering techniques are used to determine Cluster Head (CH), which will then be assigned to forward packets to Base Station (BS). In this research, we propose other clustering techniques, which utilize the Social Network Analysis approach theory of Betweeness Centrality (BC) which will then be implemented in the Setup phase. While in the Steady-State phase, one of the heuristic searching algorithms, Modified Bi-Directional A* (MBDA *) is implemented. The experiment was performed deploy 100 nodes statically in the 100x100 area, with one Base Station at coordinates (50,50). To find out the reliability of the system, the experiment to do in 5000 rounds. The performance of the designed routing protocol strategy will be tested based on network lifetime, throughput, and residual energy. The results show that BC-MBDA * is better than LEACH. This is influenced by the ways of working LEACH in determining the CH that is dynamic, which is always changing in every data transmission process. This will result in the use of energy, because they always doing any computation to determine CH in every transmission process. In contrast to BC-MBDA *, CH is statically determined, so it can decrease energy usage.

Software Defined Network (SDN) which decouples the control plane from the data plane through network vitalizations aims to address these challenges. This paper has explored the SDN architecture and its implementation with the OpenFlow protocol. It has also assessed some of its benefits over traditional network architectures, security concerns and how it can be addressed in future research and related works in emerging economies such as Nigeria.

Report handling on "LAPOR!" (Laporan, Aspirasi dan Pengaduan Online Rakyat) system depending on the system administrator who manually reads every incoming report [3]. Read manually can lead to errors in handling complaints [4] if the data flow is huge and grows rapidly, it needs at least three days to prepare a confirmation and it sensitive to inconsistencies [3]. In this study, the authors propose a model that can measure the identities of the Query (Incoming) with Document (Archive). The authors employed Class-Based Indexing term weighting scheme, and Cosine Similarities to analyse document similarities. CoSimTFIDF, CoSimTFICF and CoSimTFIDFICF values used in classification as feature for K-Nearest Neighbour (K-NN) classifier. The optimum result evaluation is pre-processing employ 75% of training data ratio and 25% of test data with CoSimTFIDF feature. It deliver a high accuracy 84%. The k = 5 value obtain high accuracy 84.12%
Hangul Recognition Using Support Vector MachineEditor IJCATR
The recognition of Hangul Image is more difficult compared with that of Latin. It could be recognized from the structural arrangement. Hangul is arranged from two dimensions while Latin is only from the left to the right. The current research creates a system to convert Hangul image into Latin text in order to use it as a learning material on reading Hangul. In general, image recognition system is divided into three steps. The first step is preprocessing, which includes binarization, segmentation through connected component-labeling method, and thinning with Zhang Suen to decrease some pattern information. The second is receiving the feature from every single image, whose identification process is done through chain code method. The third is recognizing the process using Support Vector Machine (SVM) with some kernels. It works through letter image and Hangul word recognition. It consists of 34 letters, each of which has 15 different patterns. The whole patterns are 510, divided into 3 data scenarios. The highest result achieved is 94,7% using SVM kernel polynomial and radial basis function. The level of recognition result is influenced by many trained data. Whilst the recognition process of Hangul word applies to the type 2 Hangul word with 6 different patterns. The difference of these patterns appears from the change of the font type. The chosen fonts for data training are such as Batang, Dotum, Gaeul, Gulim, Malgun Gothic. Arial Unicode MS is used to test the data. The lowest accuracy is achieved through the use of SVM kernel radial basis function, which is 69%. The same result, 72 %, is given by the SVM kernel linear and polynomial.

In routing mechanism there are three to four types of nodes are used, one is sink node which is deployed on the water surface and can collect the information, courier/super/AUV or dolphin powerful nodes are deployed in the middle of the water for forwarding the packets, ordinary nodes are also forwarder nodes which can be deployed from bottom to surface of the water and source nodes are deployed at the seabed which can extract the valuable information from the bottom of the sea. In underwater environment the battery power of the nodes is limited and that power can be enhanced through better selection of the routing algorithm. This paper focuses the energy-efficient routing algorithms for their routing mechanisms to prolong the battery power of the nodes. This paper also focuses the performance analysis of the energy-efficient algorithms under which we can examine the better performance of the route selection mechanism which can prolong the battery power of the node

Abstract: Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANET's) are basically emanated from Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANET's) in which
vehicles act as the mobile nodes, the nodes are vehicles on the road and mobility of these vehicles are very high. The main objective of
VANET is to enhance the safety and amenity of road users. It provides intelligent transportation services in vehicles with the
automobile equipment to communicate and co-ordinates with other vehicles in the same network that informs the driver’s about the
road status, unseen obstacles, internet access and other necessary travel service information’s. The evaluation of vehicular ad hoc
networks applications in based on the simulations. A Realistic Mobility model is a basic component for VANET simulation that
ensures that conclusion drawn from simulation experiments will carry through to real deployments. This paper attempts to evaluate the
performance of a Bee swarm inspired Hybrid routing protocol for vehicular ad hoc network, that protocol should be tested under a
realistic condition including, representative data traffic models, and the realistic movement of the mobile nodes which are the vehicles.
In VANET the simulation of Realistic mobility model has been generated using SUMO and MOVE software and network simulation
has been performed using NS2 simulator, we conducted performance evaluation based on certain metric parameters such as packet
delivery ratio, end-to-end delay and normalized overhead ratio.

1. INTRODUCTION
Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) is a new revolutionary
phase of automotive industry. Today, a vehicle is not just a
thermo mechanical machine with few electronic devices;
rather, recent advancement in wireless communication
technologies has brought a major transition of vehicles from a
simple moving engine to an intelligent system carrier.[1] The
components of VANET mostly resembles the MANET
features like as the techniques of self-configuring, self-
management and autonomous wireless network. A vehicular
ad-hoc network is a technology that uses moving vehicles as
nodes in a network to establish a arbitrary mobile network.
VANET provides communication between adjacent vehicles
and between vehicles and nearby fixed point and offer some
intelligent activities. It is an intelligent network of vehicles,
called Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) which is used
to ensure the security services of driver assistance and
comfort of road users. Intelligent Transportation System
include all types of communication in vehicles, between
vehicles-to-vehicles (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure
(V2I).[2] The basic target of these communications is to
increase the road safety, provide the better driving
surroundings and cautioning messages need to be sent to the
vehicles for different functions through the inter-vehicle
communications.
VANET is a subset of Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET)
which consists of number of vehicles with the ability to
communicate with each other, they transmit information via
radio in order to enhance the security and efficiency of
transportation system, and allow internet access to the users. It
is supposed that each vehicle has a wireless communication
equipment to provide ad hoc connectivity. Such networks
comprise of sensors and On Board Units (OBU) installed in
the car as well as Road Side Unit (RSU). The data collected
from sensors on the vehicles can be displayed to the drivers
and sent to the RSU or even broadcasted to other vehicles
depending on its nature and importance.[3]

One of the main challenges in the full deployment of VANET
is the testing of routing protocols and algorithms because
vehicular ad hoc networks topologies are very different by

nature as it changes very frequently and rapidly, basically it
depends on the nature of movement of vehicles, scopes and
scale of VANET networks. So, effectively design routing
protocol with a more intelligent use of resources is a good
way to cover these problems and able to improve the
performance of the transmission and dissemination of
information which are made according to the routing
protocols.
In this paper, we proposed a Hybrid Bee Swarm Routing
Protocol which is developed by using Bee swarm routing
protocol as well as Genetic Algorithm simultaneously that can
efficiently handle the variations of network parameters to
keep its performance constant over network changes. For
testing and evaluating this proposed protocol we used
Realistic Mobility Model. The high mobility of nodes in
VANET makes mobility model selection one of the most
important parameters when evaluating any protocol. Mobility
models helps to determine the location of nodes in the
topology at any given instant, which strongly affects network
connectivity and throughput.[4] The performance of the
proposed protocol has been studied using simulation tools
SUMO and MOVE and also Network Simulator(NS2).
2. RELATED WORK
Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) present various services
to the road users to communicate and transmit information
with each other to help out the vehicle drivers to avert any
kind of critical situations with providing secure and safely
environment. For the transaction of data information between
two entities in a network we need to use an efficient routing
protocol to manage the performances of vehicles at different
network parameters. In this paper, we introduced a Bee
Swarm Hybrid Routing Protocol for the improvement of the
routing efficiency, to keep its performance constant whenever
the network parameters changes. The proposed protocol is
basically a combination of two techniques that is Bee swarm
routing protocol and Genetic Algorithm. Bee Swarm routing
protocol is describe the intelligent foraging nature of honey
bee swarm which is consists of three groups: packers, scouts
and foragers. Honey bees use distinct dancing techniques for
communication which is performed by the scout bees like as
waggle dancing and round dancing. If the food is closure to
the hive, bees dance in circular motion that is known as round
dancing and the waggle dance is the dance when bee repeated
a same move in a form of number eight which implies the
distance and the direction of food. This protocol is able to
vigorously find out multiple paths between source and
destination, and also helps to distribute traffic across them.
Other technique used in proposed system is the Genetic
algorithm. Genetic Algorithm is heuristic technique that
implies the methods to detect the ideal solutions which is
based on the assumptions of natural evolution and genetics. In
this proposed system we use these two techniques
simultaneously in order to establish the hybrid algorithm. In
this algorithm the individual (is set of solutions available for
particular problem) refers to nodes that are participating in the
route from source to destination, Population indicate the
group of individuals that are selected as participant for the
routing process from source to destination. Fitness function is
used to identify the compatible solution for the problem; if the
evaluated individuals execute their functions in appropriate
way then they got chances to be selected as a fittest candidate
node for routing from source to destination.
This proposed algorithm will provide the reliable and efficient
routes from the source node to the destination node with better
performance results. It is not possible for directly
implementation of this protocol due to the cost and
complexity. So, the simulation becomes the tool of choice to
evaluate these solutions. In this paper, we used a Realistic
Mobility Model for the simulation of the evaluated routing
protocol which characterized the real world region. These
Mobility model represents the flow diagram of mobile users,
including its location, speed and acceleration over time.[2] In
Realistic Mobility Model the proposed protocol should be
tested and evaluated in realistic conditions like as the
movement of the nodes which are vehicles and assure that the
achieved results will carry through the real world zone.
3. SIMULATION METHODOLOGY
The Simulation Methodology is a very crucial way to
formulating the realistic evaluation of the network; it provides
the manifest idea of the involved research. So, choosing the
appropriate methodology is very necessary as it will enhance
the performance of this system. In this paper, we are going to
use Simulator for Urban mobility software (SUMO) and
MOVE (Mobility model generator for Vehicular networks)
and also Network Simulator (NS2.35) software to run
simulations. By using SUMO software, we created a Realistic
Mobility Model for Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANET'S).

Mobility model generator for vehicular networks (MOVE) is
software to facilitate users to rapidly generate realistic
mobility model for VANET simulations. MOVE is a java-
based application built on SUMO with a facility of GUI. It
provides an environment that allows users to quickly pinpoint
incorrect details and manage details overhead. MOVE is built
on the top of an open source micro-traffic simulator
SUMO.[6] The output of MOVE is a mobility trace file that
consists the information of realistic vehicle movements which
can be instantly used by the network simulators such as NS2
and qualnet. It allows users to generate realistic mobility
models by two approaches: interfacing with real world data
map and other one is with Google earth.
3.2 Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO)
Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO) is an open source
traffic simulation package including net import and demand
modeling components. SUMO helps to investigate several
topics e.g. route choice and traffic light algorithm or
simulating vehicular communication. Therefore the
framework is used in different projects to simulate automatic
driving or traffic management strategies. [7] It allows the user
to build a customized road topology, in addition to import the
different readymade map formats of many cities and towns of
the world. The map area which is to be simulated is exported
from OpenStreetMap(OSM) which is saved as .osm file. This
.osm file converted into .net.xml file. The route file and

.net.xml file then transformed into sumo trace.xml file using
the configuration file of sumo, this file is changed into NS2
file using trace Exporter.py of SUMO which is used for the
simulation of mobility model nodes of VANET.
3.3 Network Simulator (NS 2.35)
Network simulation is a widely used tool to simulate the
behavior of wired and wireless networks. It is a technique
where a program models the behavior of a network either by
calculating the interaction between the different network
entities. NS is a discrete event simulator targeted at
networking research. Ns provides substantial support for
simulation of TCP, routing and multicast protocols over wired
and wireless (local and satellite) networks.[8] The scripting of
NS is written in C++,with an Otcl interpreter. In our case 2.35
version of network simulator is used which is commonly
called as NS2.

4. SIMULATION SETUP
The VANET network is simulated using SUMO and MOVE
and also NS -2.35 to analyze the performance of the proposed
protocol parameters. The Simulation parameters that are used
in this simulation given below in the following table:

5. SIMULATION RESULTS AND
ANALYSIS
In this paper, we basically generated Realistic Mobility
Model and presented the analysis of the proposed hybrid
routing protocol using the performance metrics such as
Packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay and normalized
overhead ratio.
For the research of the proposed system we generated realistic
mobility model by using SUMO and MOVE. To generate
Realistic model we have to create a road map of the research
area and its vehicle movement. These model screenshots are
shows up in the given below figures:

The movement of vehicles can be generated automatically or
manually by using the vehicle movement editor and we can
also specified distinct vehicle route properties by movement
editor.

5.1 NETWORK SIMULATIONS
The screenshots of simulation in Ns-2 nam trace file shown
below in the figure: 5-6 which consists 40 and 100 nodes in
the network. In this it captured the node movement and
communication between other active vehicles.

5.2 PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
The proposed system is simulated and tested for 40,100 nodes
to evaluate the performance parameters. Here we analyzed
some of the performance metrics such as Packet Delivery
Ratio, End-to-End delay, Normalized Overhead Ratio which
are shown in the following line graphs.
5.2.1 PACKET DELIVERY RATIO
The Packet delivery ratio in this simulation process is defined
as the ratio of the number of data packet s sent to the
destination by constant bit rate sources. This illustrates the
level of delivered data to the destination.

5.2.2 END-TO-END Delay
End to End delay is one of the important metrics because
VANET needs a small latency to transmit data packets
quickly. It gives the average overall delay time taken by a
packet to travel from source to destination. Delay depends on
number of hops and congestion on the network.

destination that counted.

5.2.3 NORMALIZED OVERHEAD RATIO :
The Normalized Overhead Ratio is defined as the number of
routing packets required for the communication that is the
total number of routing packets divided by total number of
data packets delivered. This ratio is the measure of the extra
packets other than the data packets generated as the
percentage of the total data packets.

6. CONCLUSION
In this paper, the analysis of the proposed Hybrid algorithms
is done in realistic scenario of VANET. The Realistic
simulation environment is generated using the SUMO and
MOVE software and the outcome of this simulation is used
for network simulation using NS2. Here on comparing the
performance of the introduced protocol with the Bee Swarm
Routing Protocol and other static routing protocol AODV in
real deployment it shows better performance and efficient
results on the basis of the network parameters: end to end
delay, packet delivery ratio and normalized overhead ratio.
