This document proposes a model to track trains in Egypt using GPS and GSM/GPRS technology. It discusses the existing track-to-train radio communication system and its limitations in providing real-time train location and speed information. The proposed solution involves using a GPS-GSM/GPRS module on trains to transmit location data to a web server every instant, allowing operators to monitor train speed and location in real-time. The goals are to improve safety, avoid speeding, and transmit information that could help control train circulation and delays.

Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is a subdivision of the mobile ad hoc networks which uses the moving vehicles as mobile nodes to form the mobile network. In conventional vehicular communications, the restricted radio frequency bandwidth affects the network performances. Therefore, Visible Light Communication (VLC) is integrated with the growing vehicular ad hoc network to obtain high data rate and less energy consumption during the communication. In this paper, vehicular communication is integrated with visible light communication to avoid the issues caused by the restricted radio frequency bandwidth. Moreover, the Routing using Biogeography Based Optimization (RBBO) is proposed to develop an optimal route between the source vehicles to the destination. This research performs two different communications such as vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to the infrastructure. The performance of the RBBOVLC-VANET method is analyzed by means of throughput, packet delivery ratio, delay and routing overhead as well as these performances are compared with the existing method namely ant colony optimization based routing protocol. The throughput of the routing using the biogeography based optimization method is 589.763 kbps for 500 nodes which is high when compared to the existing method.

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) allow vehicles to contact one another to provide safety and comfort applications. However, mobility is a great challenge in VANETs. High vehicle speed causes topological changes that result in unstable networks. Therefore, most previous studies focused on using clustering techniques in roads to reduce the effect of vehicle mobility and enhance network stability. Vehicles stop moving at intersections, and their mobility does not impact clustering. However, none of previous studies discussed the impact of vehicle stopping at intersections on base stations (BSs). Vehicles that have stopped moving at intersections continue to send the same information to BSs, which causes duplicated information. Hence, this study proposes a new method named dynamic multiagent (DMA) to filter cluster information and prevent duplicated information from being sent to BSs at intersections. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated through simulations during the use of DMA and without-DMA (W-DMA) methods based on real data collected from 10 intersections in Batu Pahat City, Johor, Malaysia. Overall, the proposed DMA method results in a considerable reduction in duplicated information at intersections, with an average percentage of 81% from the W-DMA method.

During the last few years, continuous progresses in wireless communications have opened new research fields in computer networking, aimed at extending data networks connectivity to environments where wired solutions are impracticable. Among these, vehicular traffic is attracting a growing attention from both academia and industry, due to the amount and importance of related distributive applications to mobile entertainment. VANETs are self-organized networks built up from moving vehicles, and are part of the broader class of MANETs. Because of these peculiar characteristics, VANETs require new networking techniques, whose feasibility and performance are usually tested by means of simulation. In order to meet performance goals, it is widely agreed that VANETs must rely heavily on node-to-node communication. In VANET, each vehicle acts as a node and communicates with other vehicles within the range or communicates with base stations. The main idea is to deploy a wireless communication network that has a capability of sending and receiving messages between transmitter and mobile devices in the particular network. Results can be shown using an effective VEINS Simulator. This Simulator can produce detailed vehicular movement traces and can simulate different traffic conditions through fully customizable scenarios. The Framework is expected to be employed using such simulator that makes use of traffic modulator, network simulator and coupling module that integrates the traffic and network.

Nowadays, with the advent of smartphones, most of people started to make voice and video conference calls continuously even in a high mobility scenario, the bandwidth requirements have increased considerably, which can cause network congestion phenomena. To avoid network congestion problems and to support high mobility scenario, 3GPP has developed a new cellular standard based packet switching, termed LTE (Long Term Evolution). The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the performance of the new proposed algorithm, named Exponential Modified Largest Weighted Delay First „EXP-MLWDF‟, for high mobility scenario and with the presence of a large number of active users, in comparison with the wellknown algorithms such as a proportional fair algorithm (PF), Exponential Proportional Fairness (EXP/PF), Logarithm Rule (LOG-Rule), Exponential Rule (EXP-Rule) and Modified Largest Weighted Delay First (MLWDF). The performance evaluation is conducted in terms of system throughput, delay and PLR. Finally, it will be concluded that the proposed scheduler satisfies the quality of service (QoS) requirements of the real-time traffic in terms of packet loss ratio (PLR), average throughput and packet delay. Because of the traffic evolution, some key issues related to scheduling strategies that will be considered in the future requirements are discussed in this article.

Networks to conserve more energy in the system. This technique when combined with other power saving
systems like Ultra WideBand System and the use of Directional antenna in MANETs provides astonishing
result. In designing Medium Access Control (MAC), developing a framework and giving a detailed
implementation procedure are among the factors that hinder the process; specifically in MANETs not to
mention the Algorithm. This paper aimed at exploring a standard framework, implementation procedure
and Algorithm for designing an Asynchronous Power Saving Ultra WideBandMeduim Access Control
(UWB-MAC) in MANETs using directional antenna. An implementation procedure that comprises of
transmission, channelization, and receiver pattern of the Physical layer is specified in this research work.
The paper concludes with an algorithm for an Asynchronous Power Saving UWB-MAC using a Steerable
Directional antenna in MANETs.

In the current railway systems, it is becoming ever more necessary to have safety
elements in order to avoid accidents. One of the important causes that can provoke serious accidents
is the existence of obstacles on the tracks, either fixed or mobile. This project deals about one of the
efficient methods to avoid train collision and obstacle detection. A GPS system is being used to
pinpoint the location of faults on tracks. The project presents a solution, to provide an intelligent
train tracking and management system to improve the existing railway transport service. The solution
is based on powerful combination of mobile computing, Global System for Mobile Communication
(GSM), Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies and software. The inbuilt GPS module
identifies the train location with a highest accuracy and transfers the information to the central
system. The availability of the information allows the train Controller to take accurate decisions as
for the train location. Positioning data along with train speed helps the central system to identify the
possible safety issues and react to them effectively using the communication methods provided by
the system.

A NOVEL AND COST EFFECTIVE APPROACH TO PUBLIC VEHICLE TRACKING SYSTEMijujournal
There are lots of efforts being made by public transport corporations to improve public vehicle occupancy
by requesting the public to use public transport over other modes of transportation. It can be noted that if
the passenger knows with high confidence that the bus is going to come, he/she will definitely wait rather
than opting for other modes of transport. Efficient information can therefore help the users to choose faster
and more easier connections which saves their time. Trends in wireless technology like Global System for
Mobile communication (GSM) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) have resulted in easier and
faster communication. This paper presents a vehicle tracking system by integrating both of the above
mentioned technologies. The central server uses geographic information system (GIS) to track vehicles to
display the position information on the electronic map. This paper suggests a new cost-effective way for
tracking a vehicle in public transport domain and compares proposed technique to some of the methods
advised previously for tracking public vehicles.

This paper analytically reviews the performance of massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system for communication in highly mobility scenarios like high speed Railways. As popularity of high speed train increasing day by day, high data rate wireless communication system for high speed train is extremely required. 5G wireless communication systems must be designed to meet the requirement of high speed broadband services at speed of around 500 km/h, which is the expected speed achievable by HSR systems, at a data rate of 180 Mbps or higher. Significant challenges of high mobility communications are fast time-varying fading, channel estimation errors, doppler diversity, carrier frequency offset, inter carrier interference, high penetration loss and fast and frequent handovers. Therefore, crucial requirement to design high mobility communication channel models or systems prevails. Recently, massive MIMO techniques have been proposed to significantly improve the performance of wireless networks for upcoming 5G technology. Massive MIMO provide high throughput and high energy efficiency in wireless communication channel. In this paper, key findings, challenges and requirements to provide high speed wireless communication onboard the high speed train is pointed out after thorough literature review. In last, future research scope to bridge the research gap by designing efficient channel model by using massive MIMO and other optimization method is mentioned.

The high mobility of vehicular users, possibly at a very high velocity in the area in which two cells overlap, could cause the network to suffer from a reduced handover success rate and, hence, increased radio link failure. The combined impact of these problems is service interruptions to vehicular users. Thus, the handover schemes are crucial in solving these problems. In this work, we first present the adaptive handover hysteresis scheme for the wireless network with mobile relay nodes in the high-speed train scenario. Specifically, our proposed adaptive hysteresis scheme is based on the velocity of the train. Second, the handover call dropping probability is reduced by introducing a modified call admission control scheme to support radio resource reservation for handover calls that prioritizes handover calls of mobile relay over the other calls. The proposed solution in which adaptive parameter is combined with call admission control is evaluated by system level simulation. Our simulation results illustrate an increased handover success rate and reduced radio link failures.

The innovative idea presented in this research is that advancements in automotive networks and embedded devices can be used to assess the impact of congestion control on throughput and packet delivery ratio (PDR), or socalled multimedia content delivery. Vehicle networking and the distribution of multimedia content have become essential factors in getting packets to their intended recipients due to the availability of bandwidth. Vehicle-toinfrastructure (V2I) communication systems are crucial in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), which permit vehicles to connect by distributing and delivering traffic data and transmission packet schemes. High levels of mobility and changing network topology necessitate dispersed monitoring and execution for congestion control. The amount of traffic congestion for packet transfers could be reduced by enhancing congestion management in terms of throughput and PDR percentages. In a highway setting, the Taguchi approach has been used to optimize the parameters for congestion control. Based on throughput and PDR performance measures, this technique minimizes superfluous traffic information and lowers the likelihood of network congestion. The simulation results have shown that the proposed approach performs better since it increases network performance while effectively utilizing bandwidth. The effectiveness of the suggested technique is evaluated using a typical VANETs scenario for V2I communication while driving on a highway.

Technological developments in the field of railway signaling have allowed more and more flexibility in the management of rail traffic, especially with computer interlocking. However, differences in signaling principles from one country to another as well as differences in the structure of interlocking software and communication protocols depending on suppliers lead to interoperability difficulties at the borders between computer interlocking. Some deployed projects deal with interoperability issues regarding the communication of signaling information between the train and interlocking like the European rail traffic management system (ERTMS) project. Unfortunately, the interoperability between interlocking themselves is still not achieved. Intelligent transportation system (ITS) is an application which provides intelligence to the transportation
and traffic management systems. Although the word ITS applies to all systems in the transportation but as
per the European union directive it is the application of Information and communication technology in the
field of transportation is defined as ITS. The communication technology has evolved greatly today from
2G/3G to long term evolution (LTE). In this paper we focus on the LTE and its application in the ITS. Since
LTE offers excellent QoS, wide area coverage and high availability it is a preferred choice for vehicle to
infrastructure (V2I) service. At the same time the LTE customer base is increasing day by day which results
in congestion and accessing the network to send or request resources becomes difficult. In this paper we
have proposed a group based node selection algorithm to reduce the preamble ID collision otherwise this
uncoordinated preamble ID transmission by vehicle node (VN) will eventually clog the network and there
will be a massive congestion and re-transmissions attempts by VNs to obtain the random access channel
(RACH).

Towards a new approach of data dissemination in vanets networkscsandit
In the 2000s, ad hoc networks was developed and highly used in dynamic environment,
particularly for inter- vehicular communication (VANETs : Vehicular Ad hoc Networks).
Since that time, many researches and developments process was dedicated to VANET networks.
This was motivated by the current vehicular industry trend that is leading to a new transport
system generation based on the use of new communication technologies in order to provide
many services to passengers, the fact that improves the driving and travel’s experience.
These systems require traffic information sharing and dissemination the example as the case
alert message emitting allowing the driver to minimize driving risks. Sharing such information
between vehicles helps to anticipate potentially dangerous situations, as well as planning better
routes during congestion situations.
In this context, we are trying in this paper to model and simulate VANET Networks in order to
analyze and evaluate security information dissemination approaches and mechanisms used in
this type of networks in several exchanges conditions.This in order to identify their limitations
and suggest a new improved approach. This study was conducted as part of our research
project entitled “Simulation & VANETs”, where we justify and validate our approach using
modeling and simulation techniques and tools used in this domain.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
