Journal Of Diversity In Higher Education
A majority of school climate research has focused on the K 12 environment (Anderson, 1982; Beets,
Flay, Vuchinich, Acock, Li, Allred; 2008, Brand, Felner, Shim, Seitsinger, Dumas, 2003; Bulach,
Malone, 1994; Ma Klinger, 2000; MacNeil, Prater, Busch, 2009). More recently, researchers have
turned their attention to school climate on college and university campuses (Worthington, 2008;
Rancon Reson, 2008; Hart and Fellabaum, 2008). Two primary issues related to the need to monitor
school climate and culture in higher education have taken shape over the past twenty years. One of the
issues that has attracted considerable attention in higher education is the school climate experienced

My Halo Research Paper
The Background During the summer before my junior year in high school I broke my neck while on
vacation in Outer Banks, NC. I spent the next three months in a cervical halo and three more months
after that in a standard C collar neck brace. My first month back at school was spent in the halo which
was interesting because not many people had ever seen one of these braces and did not know the full
extent of the hardware. It is a large plastic vest with sheep wool lining the inside; making attending a
school with predominantly outdoor hallways in the August heat a very sweaty endeavor. From the vest
shot four bars, two in front and two in back, that held a horseshoe shaped bar (the halo) containing 4
screws. At the end of each screw was a fine point that anchored into my skull and stabilized my
head/neck. I could not take the halo off and had to bathe, sleep, eat and everything else while wearing
the device. Obviously wearing the halo limited my choices of fashion and I resorted to wearing a tank
top that I would slip on starting with my feet because it was the most breathable option. It also looked
weird if I wore any other shirt. The Incident Normally this would ... Show more content on

Not surprisingly; most people thought I could remove the device or that the screws were just suction
cups holding my head in place. My principal was one of these people. This miscommunication
directly affected her positive face. During the conversation my mother was very accommodating and
said if she required it, that I would dress according to dress code though it was difficult to dress that
way. When my mom explained the situation to her she responded similar to when she was with me.
She suppressed the conflict issues by ignoring that she didn t know what exactly was going on so she
could continue the conflict without the embarrassment of being

The Case Of Gregory Nesbitat
PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) A grand jury indicted the landlord of 20 Noyes St. for six
counts of manslaughter and four criminal violations of the Life Safety Code, stemming from a fire
where six people died. The Nov. 1, 2014 fire on Noyes Street was the deadliest fire in Portland in 40
years. Police said that the building owner, Gregory Nesbit, did not keep the residence up to code,
including fire exits. The fire was accidental, and started by an improperly disposed smoking material
on the porch. Prosecutors still believe Nesbit has some responsibility for the deaths. The manslaughter
charges say that Nesbit did recklessly, or with criminal negligence, cause the death of another human
being. The life safety violations are for secondary

The Potential Misuse of Genetic Engineering and Cloning
Human s wisdom has not yet caught up to their capability in science and technology. Genetics are
being experimented which could alter human evolution. This technology, genetic alteration, is close to
being used by the public. Cloning is a form of genetic alteration and experimentation. More legislation
should be passed to further restrict genetic experimentation due to the possible misuses of the
technology.
There are many different forms of cloning. There is cloning in nature which helps with farming and
has been around for thousands of year. The cloning of animals and humans is another form. The first
cloned animals were created by Hans Driesch in the late 1800 s. His goal was to prove that genetic
material is not lost during cell division. While testing sea urchins, the results ended up with two
identical sea urchins. There were no major advances in cloning until November of 1951, when Robert
Briggs cloned a frog embryo. We now have the technological advancements to clone a human being.
Nuclear transfer is how most of cloning is done. It is the introduction of the nucleus from a cell into an
egg cell that has had its own nucleus removed. This can be accomplished through fusion of the cell to
the egg or through the direct removal of the nucleus from the cell and the subsequent transplantation
of that nucleus into the egg cell that has had its own nucleus removed.
Genetic engineering is not completely a bad thing. Humans and animals are not the only thing that can

Birth Family Structure
The Impact of Birth Order and Family Structure on Success in Education Many researchers have
questioned whether or not birth order and sibling structure play a role in dictating one s success in
education. Research shows that firstborns tend to exceed their siblings in intelligence and achievement
levels (Cheng, Wang, Sung, Su, Li, 2012; Boomsma, Beijsterveld, Beem, Hoekstra, Polderman
Bartels, 2007; Cho, 2010; Bu, 2014; Akgeyik, 2013; Karwath, Relikowski, Schmitt, 2014; Horner,
Andrade, Delva, Grogan Kaylor Castillo, 1998; Rammohan Dancer, 2008) starting at the age of eight.
(Boomsma et al., 2008). This may be due to several factors including the uneven divide of familial
resources (Cheng et all, 2012; Harkonen, 2014; Rees, Lopez, ... Show more content on

Parents may choose to provide more educational opportunities to only one child in a case where they
can t afford to provide for all of their children. However, if the family is particularly large and with big
gaps in age between siblings, the household configuration could change as older children become less
reliant on parental support (Schmeer, 2009). This presents the opportunity for parents to provide their
resources to their younger children. Alternatively, large age gaps could constrict educational resources
by eliminating the opportunity to share clothes, toys, etc. to help parents financially (Karwath, et al,
2014). Nevertheless, research has shown that children benefit and obtain more schooling (Marlani,
2008) from larger age gaps (Karwath, et al, 2014; Bu, 2014) and smaller families (Booth Kee, 2008;

Development Of The New Waterfront
2. History Of The Place (400 Words)
Wellingtons land surface became scarce in 1857 with little space for urbanization to occur. Therefore
the idea of reclaiming land was portrayed through the development of Wellington. By the 19th century
the entire 1840 s shoreline had disappeared from sight, which was represented with rapid urbanization
along the waterfront with growth in skyscrapers and the inner city. (Wellington City Council) With
rapid development in Wellington towards the mid 1900 s, the additions of motorways along with the
multi lane roads through the city were introduced. Additionally in 1989, The Wellington Harbour
Board merged into the Wellington City Council and for the first time since 1880, the City had direct

Therefore with the addition of adding a significant cultural feature to the project, it helps to tell a story
of exploring the early arrivals of nations. This was significantly seen with the addition of Maori artist
Paratene Matchitt to push the idea further through his sculptural profession within the bridge. This
sculptural aspect links back to the heritage of the land as it was once completely covered by water but
now it is a significant feature, which develops its distinct inner meaning. It is a point of arrival, a
gateway between the distinct reclaims of Wellington harbour and Wellington city (Gray 28 30).

Inductive Learning Or Category Learning
People learn new information through the induction of categories, allowing for the recognition that
different stimuli are the same in a given way. Inductive learning involves recognition and
understanding of the similarities and differences among and between stimuli. To learn a new category
of information, exemplars belonging to a given category are conceptualized and grouped as belonging
to that category. Such learning is fundamental in human cognition, enabling persons to categorize
novel exemplars as instances of a given category or concept (Birnbaum, 2013). In a typical study
conducted on the topic of inductive learning or category learning, students are presented with a set of
exemplars belonging to a particular category and are subsequently asked to identify and induce a
general concept pertaining to the given set of observed exemplars (Zulkiply, McLean, Burt, Bath,
2012). Such exemplars may include nonsense syllables, words, sentences, pictures and faces
(Ebbinghaus, 1985/1913; Glenberg Lehmann, 1980; Rothkopf Coke, 1966; Hintzman Rogers, 1973;
Cornell, 1980). Research on inductive learning shows that participants learn category similarities and
category differences from the way in which study stimuli are presented to those participants.
In earlier studies on inductive learning, researchers examined the benefits of category learning for
education. Researchers focused on how to maximize participants performance in category learning
related tasks. In two such

There was once a king named Bannon, and everyone knows him as Bannon The Brave. Bannon had
two daughters, Guinevere and Leah. Bannon was like no other, he was very charming and persuasive.
Bannon wasn t like the other kings, he had a special power that only his daughter Guinevere and
himself knew. Guinevere and Leah were sisters, but very different. Guinevere was very outgoing and
she had more of a sense when it came to others. Leah was too trusting and wouldn t listen to what
Guinevere or Bannon said, which made Bannon very worried. Guinevere and Leah were his pride and
joy, and he would do anything to protect them. Throughout his life, he never would have imagined that

The Issue of Nursing Shortage in the United States
Nursing Shortages
Introduction
The shortage of nurses in the United States has been discussed often and has been fully reported in the
media over the past several decades. There have been reports of shortages so critical that they actually
have become ...a national security concern (Nelson, 2002). Moreover, the reasons for the shortages
and potential solutions for this crisis are extremely well covered in the scholarly literature. In this
paper, an article in the peer reviewed Health Marketing Quarterly points to how the nursing shortage
can be addressed using marketing strategies. In addition, other scholarly articles will be reviewed in
order to address the challenges and consequences that could result if this crisis is not addressed
immediately.
Marketing Nursing as a Profession
An article in the Health Marketing Quarterly written by Mark Somers, Linda Finch, and Dee
Birnbaum (university instructors in schools of management, nursing and business fields in the U.S.)
asserts that the nursing shortages of highly trained nurses and of nursing faculty is close to a level that
could be termed a crisis (Somers, et al, 2010). The expected gap between supply and demand will
expand to more than a million nurses by 2020, Somers explains, which is twice the shortfall had had
been projected just two years prior to this article s publication (292).
Why the dramatic shortfall in nurses? There are at least ten influencing factors associated with this
looming crisis, and

The Symbol Of Fire In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
Fire is a powerful element that is known to be destructive, but in some situations it could mean more
then what is widely believed. Things can hold meaning behind them in a story that is not always what
people would assume. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, the symbol of a fire is shown many
times, and its meaning progressively changes as the story goes on. The boys work to keep a fire going
in book to attempt to be noticed and rescued. The fire always had a different level of importance to
each boy, but there was always an overall underlying meaning behind it that affected them all. They
believed that it was just a fire to create smoke, but there was always something more to it that the boys
may or may not have been oblivious to. The symbol of the fire in The Lord of the Flies written by
William Golding begins as a representation of hope, develops into a divider, and concludes as a figure
of rescue. The fire that was created to be a smoke signal to anything that passes the island starts to
become a vision of hope for the boys. The fire is first brought into the story very early when Ralph
decides it is necessary if they want to be rescued. In the first meeting between all the boys they do not
address things like shelter right away, Ralph goes straight into how they can be saved. Golding writes
from Ralph s point of view when he is talking to the other boys, There s another thing. We can help
them to find us. If a ship comes near the island they may not notice us.

Evaluation Of The Preschool Language
1. Interpretation
During today s evaluation, we used the Preschool Language Scale Fifth Edition (PLS 5) and general
observations of the way Z plays and interacts with others to assess her speech and language skills. The
PLS 5 is a norm referenced test, meaning that the creators of the test developed a set of typical or
average scores based on a large sample of children, to help clinician s determine whether a child, like
Z, performs at the same level as other children her age that were included in the sample.
a. The PLS 5 looks at a few things that help us to determine Z s speech and language abilities. One
area that the test pinpoints is called auditory comprehension this refers to things such as Z s attention
to her environment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Z s score fell in the 1st percentile in both auditory comprehension and expressive communication.
What this means is that Z scored as well or better than 1% of the sample population of children her
age, but 99% of other children her age achieved a higher score.
e. Age equivalent scores represent the average score of the children in the sample for a particular age
group in a specific area. For example, Z got an age equivalent score of 7 months for auditory
comprehension. This does not mean that Z understand language at a 7 month old level, but rather that
Z s score corresponds to the average raw score obtained by 7 month olds in the PLS 5 sample. On the
expressive communication section, Z s score translated to an age equivalency of 5 months, meaning
that her raw score corresponds to the average raw score obtained by 5 month olds in the PLS 5
sample. These scores try to compare children to the average X year old, but language development is
remarkably variable and the average child does not really exist. We like to look as average as more of
a range, rather than a set level of achievement.
2. Short term Session goals:
a. Given a field of 5 objects out of her reach and vocal/gestural modeling by the clinician and parent,
Z will increase frequency of intentional communication, using signs, gestures or vocalizations to
request desired object in 8 out of

Conflict of Opposing Forces in Of Mice and Men Essay
Conflict is a struggle between opposing forces. There can be multiple conflicts in a story. This is the
case in Of Mice and Men. In chapters three and four, there are man vs. man, man vs. self, and man vs.
society conflicts. As George and Lennie interact with the workers on the ranch, sometimes conflicts
arise between them. Man vs. man is a type of conflict in which two or more characters are pitted
against each other. Candy, an old man on the ranch, has a conflict with Carlson in chapter three.

did, even though Lennie didn t know how to swim. George and the men were able to pull him out
before he drowned and Lennie was grateful to George for helping him. This experience made George
realize that it was wrong for him to play jokes on Lennie. On pages 63 to 65, Lennie struggles
internally over his own unrealized strength. After Lennie crushed Curley s hand, Lennie sat cowering
in the corner. He s scared that he did something wrong but he never meant to hurt Curley. He only
fought back because George told him to. George and Slim assured George that it wasn t his fault and
that he didn t do a bad thing. On pages 44 to 48, Candy undergoes a personal struggle. When Carlson
tells him that his dog is old and suffering and should be put down, Candy does not want to give up his
dog. After Slim agreed that Candy s dog should be put down on page 45, Candy looked helplessly at
him, for Slim s opinions were law. After being defeated by Carlson s reasonable argument, Candy
finally forces himself to give up his dog, knowing that he won t have to suffer any more. Man vs.

The Downfall of Brutus
The Downfall of Brutus The play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, has two
main tragic heroes. Set in Rome and spanning from forty four to forty two B.C., the play tells of
Brutus and Caesar whom both fall from the highest positions to the lowest of misfortune and then are
enlightened on their mistakes. Brutus is the stronger example of a tragic hero in this story. Throughout
this play, Brutus commits many faults, falls more drastically than all other characters, and regrets his
previous actions by the end of the play. Brutus commits three costly mistakes during the play. The first
mistake that he makes is that he participates in the assassination of Julius Caesar. People, and senators,

He wishes that he had never fallen for Cassius s insidious plan to assassinate Caesar, Caesar, now be

destroys his name and his stature. Brutus, scrutinizing all of his mistakes, and wishing that he had
done things differently verifies that he is the main tragic hero in this classic work. Through these final
moments of Brutus s life, the audience of the play can truly see that Brutus is not lying about his love
of Caesar, but that he honestly regrets participating, and is sympathetic about the last years of his life.
Brutus, even though he has made many mistakes throughout his life, he makes one final one with his
last action. Unfortunately, the audience does not know whether or not he regrets committing suicide.
Had he not done so, Antony most likely would have restored some of his stature in Rome, and granted
him his life, This was the noblest Roman of them all. / All the conspirators save only he / Did that they
did in envy of great Caesar; / He, only in a general honest thought / And common good to all, made
one of them (998). It is clear that Antony is saddened by the loss of Brutus, because he realizes the
true meaning of Brutus s actions. In conclusion, Brutus is the tragic hero in this play because of the
mistakes that he makes, the fall that he takes, and the regrets that he feels after. Brutus will forever be

The Key Dimensions Of Contracts Essay
Introduction
The pre eminent procedural character of a contract is that there are essential elements that must be
present for it to be legally binding. Australian contract law is largely attributable to the common law
principles albeit various statutes have blossomed to supplement the substance of common law and
doctrines of equity. The law of Contract pervades the day to day social and economic activities that
have been accentuated by a precipitously burgeoning firmament of electronic commerce. At the outset,
this has significantly given rise to enormous complexities within the panoply of contract law. Ideally,
there are various forms of contract that attract legal attention. It is apt to early state that this paper
seeks, for all intents and purposes to explore the key dimensions of contracts by electronic means.
Electronic Contracts
Contracts by electronic means are commonly referred to paperless contracts, figuratively. They can be
defined as agreements created in digital form without the traditional use of a pen and paper. The
dividing line between electronic contracts and the traditional form of contract is very thin. They are
arguably governed by the general rules of offer and acceptance applicable in contract law and
accepted both internationally and by Australian law. Conversely, a contract formed electronically is
treated like a paper agreement and is legally valid if the contract can easily be retrieved for future
references after the execution and the parties

A wooded area, a small town just north of Sacramento. Two preteen girls. Two bodies. Two close
range bullet holes in their heads. On November 12, 1973, the bodies of two missing girls were found
in Yuba County, CA. Over 60 people were actively investigated for the murder rape until 1976. Then it
went cold. Forty one years later, investigators had two suspects (Thompson). After so many years, the
key to finally deducing the crime lay in what the two men left behind, DNA. In a world of flawed

Cases that formerly did not have enough circumstantial evidence, nor any useful evidence at all that
were actively investigated until no more leads were available, that have gone cold are now resurfacing
with the DNA forensics systems in place. Now the combination of careful preservation, meticulously
maintained notes, and a drive to protect the truth are coming into play for cold cases to finally be
resolved. Such is the case with the 1973 California murders (Thompson). It was the drive for finality
that eventually caught, arrested, and convicted two men who did horrendous things to two young girls.
The families, despite the years, craved an end to the nightmare and justice for the little girls that they
had lost. Investigators were only able to reopen the case because they had a new arsenal of tools to
help them expand upon the evidence that was present at the scene: the men s DNA from the rape kits.
Cross examining those DNA samples with that in a database brought upon the discovery of the two
men, who now lived states away from the scene of the crime, and both of whom had been convicted of
other charges. Victory cases such as these are common now to see and hear about, with nearly every
month finding that there is another case that could finally be resolved, that could finally unveil the

The Ethical Treatment Of Animal Testing
There are many debates about whether or not animals such as mice and rats should be experimented
on. The organization Psychologist for the Ethical Treatment of Animals believes in observing animals
instead of experimenting on them (Meyer). Another known organization is People for the Ethical
Treatment of Animals (PETA). An organization that is in favor of animal experimentation is called Pro
Test and is located in the United Kingdom (UK). This organization thinks that experimenting on
animals may help humans. About 95% of animals are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act like
reptiles, birds and mice ( Animal Testing ). Experimentation on animals should not be permitted in any
country, including the United States, because it is cruel and inhumane, because we have developed
new technology that can replace these experiments, and because sometimes the results that are found
are not directly relevant to humans. Animal testing is a cruel and inhumane thing to do to a living
organism. PETA believes that during experiments the animals are not protected from suffering and
there are no laws that are in place to protect them. The animals in laboratories are treated like cheap
disposable laboratory equipment. In fact, more than 100 million animals are killed in the United States
because they are victims of harsh and deadly experiments that torture and kill these defenseless
animals. Before their death, some animals are forced to participate in experiments that require them to

The Making of a Legend
What does it take to be a legend? How far would one go to be a legend in something one enjoys?
Jordan Burroughs will go the the ends of the earth to considered a legend in the sport of freestyle
wrestling. He went from underdog to top dog with years of hard work, unrelentless training, and never
giving up on his dream to be a legend in mans oldest sport...wrestling.
In ancient Greek mythology, Zeus wrestled Cronos in a battle over the universe in which of course
Zeus won. The great event was celebrated by making wrestling the last event in the Pentathlon. Back
in Ancient times greek men wrestled covered in olive oil and naked. To win one had to throw his
opponent or knock him down, but ancient greece was not the only ones who wrestled. In Mesopotamia
Sumerian caves had drawings in them of wrestling that dated back at least 7,000 years. Over in the
village of Beni Hasan, Egypt historians found wrestling how to drawings in tombs.
In present day wrestling a new up and coming star named Jordan Burroughs is taking the International
Freestyle Circuit by storm. Burroughs is 25 years old and became the seventh U.S. wrestler to win
three Olympic or world titles. Burroughs joined Bruce Baumgartner, Kevin Jackson, Leroy Kemp,
Mark Schultz and John Smith. Burroughs and Smith are the only two wrestlers in U.S. history to win
back to back world or Olympic titles. Jordan is also hoping to join John as the only as the only

Essay about Copyright Laws No Longer Relevant in a Digital...
Assignment 2 Research Essay
Many say the current copyright laws in Australia are not adequate for a digital age. Do you agree with
this point of view, and explain the academic research which leads you to this conclusion. Discuss two
examples of copyright law which you believe are no longer relevant in a digital age and provide
evidence for the changes you would propose, by analysing current media reports and supporting

The way a person writes, learns, gathers information, purchases items, listens to music, watches

The same concept similarly applies to photographs online and in electronic form. The section fails to
be clear on whether a person who acquires a copy of a digital photograph, for example by
downloading it from [a source on] the internet, [is] the owner of that copy (Smiers, 2005). Another
condition that is flawed is where the reproduction of an original photograph is prohibited if the person
uses the reproduced copy to make further reproductions. This allows a person to infringe copyright
once without payment to copyright, yet not allow them to do so further, when they should not be
granted to do so at all. The exception also does not abide by the World Intellectual Property
Organisation Copyright Treaty (1996) and its three step test, which outlines that exceptions must only
apply in certain special cases..., not conflict with a normal exploitation of a work and do not
unreasonably prejudice the legitimate interests of the author . Ultimately by reproducing the material
in a different form which copyright holders sell and license, without payment or permission in the first
place, the exception permits a person to effectively undertake in piracy. In order for section 47J to be

Abstract
There is a misconception that e Business simply means buying and selling products and services over
the Internet. The broader view of e Business focuses on the key processes that directly enhance
revenue — namely, customer acquisition and retention through sales, marketing and service (Siebel,
2004). This customer centric view of e Business is not limited to the Internet but rather applies to all

However, there are also the advantages and disadvantages to every good thing. When it comes to e
business, the advantages may include being able to use applications and features such as email, which
is great because it is a quick and cheap way of sending information, combined with the ability to
attach files and send them onto another user. E business is also quicker and easier means of
communications; it may strengthen marketing capabilities and reach. Finally, it may also reduce the
cost of doing business by lowering transaction costs and increasing efficient methods for payment,
such as using online banking and reducing stationery and postage costs.
Despite having many advantages of the Internet, there are, unfortunately disadvantages as well in e
business. For example, Viruses are often spread over the Internet, which can normally be done via
email. Even having a virus scanner does not protect your computer system at one hundred percent
because they do not always recognize new virus, which it does not yet know about. Other
disadvantages may include hackers being able to access your system and therefore, all of the company
s files, which could ruin the company s business, may be at large. There is also one of the biggest
complaints, which is the lack of physical contact because it prevents scrutiny of products and lacks
face to face interaction; there may be difficulty in finding information;

The impact of overhead
As it stands right now the push back on reducing overhead support costs comes from a general
request. I do not believe that there is an understanding from the various business units on the costs of
utilizing support resource as it is largely untracked. By measuring Business Unit support resource
usage we can determine where our resources are being spent, and also bring this information up to the

Examples Of Postmodern Fragmentation Of Gender
Postmodern fragmentation of gender
According to Lee (1999), postmodern theories abandon modernist singular identities for a fragmented
version of history, where individuals are unstable, constantly moving objects. Post structuralist
discourse feminists have dramatically altered views of gender and sex, creating a distinctly new
paradigm for the concept of womanhood, and providing a comprehensive demolition job on Western
orthodoxies (Sheehan, 2004, p.21). In his way, identity is not only socially and culturally constructed,
but it also changes in different contexts, such as class, race or sexual orientation, and established
systems, such as Western hegemony, humanism, and the nature of reality, are deconstructed

Using concepts, such as magical realism, Nights at the Circus questions what can be considered real,
and anticipates Butler s ideas on artificiality of gender and sexuality. The protagonist, Fevvers, is the
queen of ambiguities, goddess of in between states (p.81), and, as such, her identity is a performance
of characters, none of which can be accepted with certainty, and deemed authentic. She is a virgin and
a whore, a female object on display, desired by men, and also a marvellous monster and an alien
creature (p.161); she is an aerialist, fabulous bird woman (p.15), yet her bodily constitution is butch.
Fevvers is, as Kerchy (2004), notes, a simulacra (p.101), offering an infinite variety of female
identities, no more a singular being (p.286). Similarly to Bakhtin s (1986) concept of the
carnivalesque, Fevvers performance subverts norms, and denies any finality to her identity. This
feminine masquerade dismantles all existing norms and rules for gendered social division. Nights at
the Circus brings forth marginalised characters, women and freaks, and positions them into a state of
becoming, where there is no original, only layers of identities (Botescu Sireteanu, 2010; Michael,

The Bible As A Historical Document
I felt a very positive impression of who Jesus was after finishing the Book of Matthew. I had a new
image of someone who was a down to earth, caring individual. I did not find quotes of Jesus that
claimed being superior to the common man, of whom sinners could not look upon (a view that most
people had of their Gods for centuries before). Matthew 12:49 50,
Jesus announces to multitudes that they are his mother and brothers. In that way, he puts himself at an
equal level to the people, rather than claiming to be a God above them. This reflects the whole attitude
of the book. Chapters 6 7 of Matthew quote Jesus as he is presenting rules to live by to the multitudes.
To me, all of these sounded like hints to leading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the parables needed to be explained to his disciples, and some of them I wasn t able to

Jesus as to if they were an effective way to witness to common people. Even today, too many people
read parables as
TRUTH, rather than just a story. Plus, they are misinterpreted. But, I have to tell you that an amazing
coincidence happened to me after I finished reading the Parable of The Pearl of Great Price. A couple
of hours later, I was watching an old episode of Star Trek on TV, and Scotty had actually quoted the
same, exact parable at the end of the show! Funny that the writers of Star Trek predict the future to
still hold the same religion as now, and 2000 years ago.
Both Matthew and Mark write about the part of Pilate in His crucifixion. It seems to me that Pilate
was a good guy , and did not really want to have Jesus killed because he did not see anything that He
did wrong (as compared to Barabbas, the murderer). (Mark 15:1 15) As a matter of fact, I see that
Pilate tried to give Jesus another chance by asking the crowd to choose to punish the Murderer, or
Jesus. Then, washed his hands of this crucifixion after the decision was made. Why is Pilate portrayed
as a Good Guy in these books while we know, historically, that
Pilate was NOT a friend to the Jews?

Windows 7 is an improved and updated version of the Windows Vista operating system. Furthermore,

But recent reports state that the railroads are profiting off of the farmers by charging more to transport

The fast pace, repetition and interruptions evident in the interaction between Carol and John are clear
illustrations of the unwritten contest to have the last word and be right in act 1. The use of these
dramatic and linguistic techniques are what make the interaction between the two characters so
fascinating. Both are constantly struggling to keep their dignity and reputation. On page 11, Carol
pleads teach me. Teach me . Although this is imperative, the context in which it is said suggests that

Here it would seem that both john and carol do not understand each other and, again, John is viewed
as the more authoritative and powerful one.
The interruptions present in act 1 are significant to the play?s agenda. Although the audience is meant
to sympathise with Carol for her lack of understanding and the professor?s approach to teaching her
individually, the telephone calls, interrupting the conversation at key points, represents a connection to
the world outside of the room where the entire play takes place. It gives the audience an immediate
insight to John?s life so that we do not dismiss him for his difficulties with expressing himself or his
arguments. Mamet, having then made John into a ?3D character? is then able to introduce him as
realer person, showing his true emotions more and more towards the end of the play. Without this link
to the outside world, which is often forgotten in a context such as this, John would seem pompous,
intolerant, incompetent and unprofessional. Mamet has carefully constructed the interaction and
language to show the power corruption between the two and is successful in balancing the two sides of
the argument. A watching audience would very easily be able to choose which side they believed right.
It can also be viewed that Mamet uses language to oppress others. John is often seen using academic
lexis, which unnecessarily complicates and blurs his point in case. This then

Anna Karenina Juxtaposition
The juxtaposition of two characters helps depict the themes of the novel as a whole. In the novel Anna

realizes her marriage is dissatisfying after meeting her lover, Alexei Vronsky. Throughout the novel,
the two characters change their viewpoints in life and become different people than what they once
were. The juxtaposition of both characters explore the themes of country versus city life, the
importance of social status, and support in difficult times. At the commencement of the novel, Levin is

The History of Film Editing
My grandpa is always talking about how much movies have changed with time. His favorite movie,
E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, is an example of how editing and special effects have changed drastically
since 1982 and even before that. Watching a movie from this year compared to a movie from the
1930s, you would notice many differences. In the beginning, there was no digital technology to edit
films. There have also been important contributors to help evolvement in film editing. In the process
of editing film, there are some common editing techniques that have been used ever since film started.
The way you edit a scene can also affect the mood and feeling of it. Although the editing of
filmmaking has changed a lot over time, there are many reasons for the cause of this including
humanities drastic evolvement in technology.
In the beginning, there was no digital technology to edit films. The initial editing of all films was done
with a positive copy of the film negative called a film work print. This was done by physically cutting
and pasting together pieces of film, using a splicer and threading the film on a machine with a viewer,
which was a Moviola, flatbed machine or Steenbeck. The 2 Video Tape Recording System (VTR)
created by Ampex Corp. was introduced in 1956. This device was also called the splicing block. The
user of the machine was able to view the splice point through a microscope. The machine also had a
cutting blade that was mounted across the guide to be able to

Why Some Go Into St. John s Woods
Some go into the woods and never come out. Some come out that never went in. It was one of the best
Saturday practices during the cross country season: The run to the chapel in the St. John s woods. It
was the end of September, and fall was beginning. The St. John s woods were cool, colorful, and
mysterious. Four girls, all best friends; Brooke, Gina, Abbie, and Kristine were all running together.
Kristine was a state runner the past year and was ahead of the rest as always, but not far enough that
they couldn t laugh and tell terrible puns together. Now all runners know that running on paths is
boring. So when the girls find an off road path naturally someone s going to want to go on it. Hey,
there s another path that s not really a path. Abbie said, Can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They have no time to tell each other the plan. They just run in pure terror. Across the branches, leaves,
and twigs, the girls stumble over themselves and each other to try to find a way to escape their terrible
fate. The relaxing woods cross country practice all the sudden is not fun and games anymore.
Sprinting as fast as she can, Gina runs to find the tallest tree. The one her racing brain finally decides
on is a tamarack. Climbing with all her might in her upper body, for cross country has made her
strong, Gina focused on getting to the top. She climbed and climbed. Her body scratched against the
bark and her clothes tore. She climbed on. Nothing could stop her determination to live. As she came
to rest at the top her muscles were sore and she had cuts all over. Made it, was all that Gina could
muster before the birds flew to knock her off balance and fall of the tree to plummet to her death.
Kristine and Abbie heard a scream behind them to see Gina falling from a tree. They stood shocked
for a few seconds, but the sight of hundreds of birds following them quickly brought them back to

Liturgical Theology Chapter Summary
Chan, Simon. Liturgical Theology: The Church as Worshiping Community. Downers Grove, IL: IVP
Academic, 2006. Simon Chan, in his book Liturgical Theology: The Church as Worshiping
Community, challenges the Evangelical Pentecostal worldview through the lens of liturgy and
sacrament. As a theologian in the Assemblies of God denomination, Chan poses the question, of
whether the church is an instrument to accomplish God s purpose in creation or an expression of God
s ultimate purpose itself. This is expressed through the term divine humanity, each chapter slowly
begins to unravel how the church should strive to be the object Christ to the world, thus becoming its
identity. The focus of the book began to combine such an expression of liturgical theology in the
Pentecostal mindset. Chan engages the reader to critically analyze why church progressions are made
in certain ways, as well as why we believe what we believe in the Pentecostal view. Shmeman,

through this work. They give an account for how one must view the adoration of Eucharist. In regard
to the Eucharist, the book goes on to delegate the presence of Christ within the bread and wine at each
mass, and why. In the mist of understanding the presence Groschel and Monti give a defined outline of
history, including evolution of this exact theological process called Eucharist. The text has many other
sources included to define this essential need in our walk in sacramental living and adoration of

Blue Planet Research Paper
The Blue Planet: Seasonal Seas
Like how seasons are the changes on land, they can also be apply to oceans in temperate latitudes. The
most productive seas on the planet are the seasonal seas because they border the temperate parts of the
world where conditions change throughout the year. The power of the sun is constantly changing;
hence there are different seasons even under the seas due to the different in sunlight radiation. In the
far north, summers are warm and gentle, while winters are wracked by savage storms. Sable Island,
southeast of Nova Scotia in the Atlantic Ocean is home to the world s largest colony of gray seal,
about 100,000 seals come to breed here each year. The climate at this location is heavily influenced by
the sea and being located in the path of major frontal storms and cyclones, precipitation is high.
Around March, the seas have warmed enough to trigger phytoplankton to appear. Phytoplankton is
tiny algae, each smaller than a pinhead. During this time of the year, phytoplankton reproduces with
an amazing speed and produces more annual growth than all the parts on land together. They ... Show

Bull kelps have strands about 30 meters long with floats to help keep the algae close to the surface
within reach of the sunlight. Because California has a consideration amount of sunlight, the giant kelp
can be found along the coastal regions. Because of this, California sea otters gather in the kelp forest
and snooze during spring. To prevent themselves from being drift away by tides and currents, they
anchor themselves by scraps of kelp around their body. In some aspects, sea otters are guardians of the
region. Several creatures that shelter in the kelp have to venture in the opening to feed, like the bat ray.
They feed in the sandy floor of the open sea, they use jet of water to blown the sand away and expose
invertebrates. They will either eat or be

Crime Reflection
I am applying for this course as I believe this course will allow me to gain in depth knowledge of
crime in different societies as well as learning about different laws related to crime and criminal
justice. The way courts work and their way of approaching different issues with an unbiased approach.
It also intrigues me to explore a diverse set of criminological issues, from youth crime to intelligence
and security as the public sector of the working environment has always made me curious as to how
situations are encountered and what factors are taken into account in order to reach a judgement.
Moreover from the national student survey I have seen that the number of students satisfied with this
course was over 80%; which is a very high percentage and shows that the course is interesting and
staff are also engaging and helpful towards students when needed. It also infers that student s needs
and requirements are fulfilled in this course and students are gratified with the outcome of studying
this course.
I am interested in this course as I have seen that the course projects interactive learning allowing me to
implement the skills I will gain and have me see the gaps in my knowledge and work on areas of
improvement when needed be. Moreover, ensuring that I learn actively will challenge my mind and
stimulate it to adapt to changes which I believe I can do rationally. In addition to this criminology
interests me as it looks at situations from different perspectives

Social Aspects Of Autism
Autism is mostly defined by and impairment in speech/communication. It is made of other other
things, but it mostly is that. It comes in a scale, or spectrum, called the autism spectrum and consists
of high functioning and low functioning, with more complications. Most of the statements are
common generalizations, and don t mean that autism isn t autism without these qualities.
The most important part is how it affects social aspects. Often, talk with short sentences and phrases
instead of full sentences, or can t even talk at all (1/3 people), no matter how smart they are
(remember, high functioning and low functioning)! They don t know eye contact (In my experience, it
led to arguments), and are often repetitive in their speech.

The Death Penalty Is Wrong
Sean Shen
Mr. Todd
Languages and Literature, E 8, Research Paper
April 20th 2018
The Death Penalty is Wrong The death penalty has been considered one of the most severe
punishments by governments. However, recently, many people have rebelled against the death penalty.
The death penalty is an act that is similar to being ruled under fascism instead of democracy. Under
the rule of democracy, citizens are responsible for the acts of other fellow citizens, which can be
inferred that crime is caused by the lack of responsibility in society. The victim s loved ones suffer due
to the victim s death. It is understandable that they would want the murderer dead, but society often
does not work that way. People need to think on behalf of the society. ... Show more content on

First of all, the opposing view states that if the death penalty did not exist, then it could have a
tremendous effect on society. However, that is not true. If there were no death penalty, we would still
have other punishments that were used like life imprisonment. There are other forms of physical
punishment such as whipping. This type of punishment would be able to take the place of the death
penalty because the death penalty is just too extreme. In truth, criminals need a second chance in their
life for them to succeed. Here is a quote: Hoang Vu (attempted murderer) and Terrell Carswell
(cocaine trafficking and robbery) were next, pulling Burden off the deputy while David Schofield
(aggravated assault and battery) grabbed Moon s radio and called for help. (cracked.com). This shows
how a prisoner who has committed a crime helps the officers in prison. If they had a second chance to
integrate into society, they would live better lives without damaging society. If we look at the problem
on behalf of society, isn t it one of our responsibilities to forgive rather than taking everything from
them? A democratic society is when you are responsible for other people s

Journal Of Diversity In Higher Education A majority of school climate research has focused on the K 12 environment (Anderson, 1982; Beets, Flay, Vuchinich, Acock, Li, Allred; 2008, Brand, Felner, Shim, Seitsinger, Dumas, 2003; Bulach, Malone, 1994; Ma Klinger, 2000; MacNeil, Prater, Busch, 2009). More recently, researchers have turned their attention to school climate on college and university campuses (Worthington, 2008; Rancon Reson, 2008; Hart and Fellabaum, 2008). Two primary issues related to the need to monitor school climate and culture in higher education have taken shape over the past twenty years. • 3. My Halo Research Paper The Background During the summer before my junior year in high school I broke my neck while on vacation in Outer Banks, NC. I spent the next three months in a cervical halo and three more months after that in a standard C collar neck brace. My first month back at school was spent in the halo which was interesting because not many people had ever seen one of these braces and did not know the full extent of the hardware. It is a large plastic vest with sheep wool lining the inside; making attending a school with predominantly outdoor hallways in the August heat a very sweaty endeavor. From the vest shot four bars, two in front and two in back, that held a horseshoe shaped bar (the halo) containing 4 screws. At the end of each screw was a fine point that anchored into my skull and stabilized my head/neck. I could not take the halo off and had to bathe, sleep, eat and everything else while wearing the device. Obviously wearing the halo limited my choices of fashion and I resorted to wearing a tank top that I would slip on starting with my feet because it was the most breathable option. It also looked weird if I wore any other shirt. The Incident Normally this would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. The Case Of Gregory Nesbitat PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) A grand jury indicted the landlord of 20 Noyes St. for six counts of manslaughter and four criminal violations of the Life Safety Code, stemming from a fire where six people died. The Nov. 1, 2014 fire on Noyes Street was the deadliest fire in Portland in 40 years. Police said that the building owner, Gregory Nesbit, did not keep the residence up to code, including fire exits. The fire was accidental, and started by an improperly disposed smoking material on the porch. Prosecutors still believe Nesbit has some responsibility for the deaths. The manslaughter charges say that Nesbit did recklessly, or with criminal negligence, cause the death of another human being. The life safety violations are for secondary ... • 5. The Potential Misuse of Genetic Engineering and Cloning Human s wisdom has not yet caught up to their capability in science and technology. Genetics are being experimented which could alter human evolution. This technology, genetic alteration, is close to being used by the public. Cloning is a form of genetic alteration and experimentation. More legislation should be passed to further restrict genetic experimentation due to the possible misuses of the technology. There are many different forms of cloning. There is cloning in nature which helps with farming and has been around for thousands of year. The cloning of animals and humans is another form. The first cloned animals were created by Hans Driesch in the late 1800 s. His goal was to prove that genetic material is not lost during cell division. While testing sea urchins, the results ended up with two identical sea urchins. There were no major advances in cloning until November of 1951, when Robert Briggs cloned a frog embryo. We now have the technological advancements to clone a human being. Nuclear transfer is how most of cloning is done. It is the introduction of the nucleus from a cell into an egg cell that has had its own nucleus removed. This can be accomplished through fusion of the cell to the egg or through the direct removal of the nucleus from the cell and the subsequent transplantation of that nucleus into the egg cell that has had its own nucleus removed. Genetic engineering is not completely a bad thing. Humans and animals are not the only thing that can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Birth Family Structure The Impact of Birth Order and Family Structure on Success in Education Many researchers have questioned whether or not birth order and sibling structure play a role in dictating one s success in education. Research shows that firstborns tend to exceed their siblings in intelligence and achievement levels (Cheng, Wang, Sung, Su, Li, 2012; Boomsma, Beijsterveld, Beem, Hoekstra, Polderman Bartels, 2007; Cho, 2010; Bu, 2014; Akgeyik, 2013; Karwath, Relikowski, Schmitt, 2014; Horner, Andrade, Delva, Grogan Kaylor Castillo, 1998; Rammohan Dancer, 2008) starting at the age of eight. However, if the family is particularly large and with big gaps in age between siblings, the household configuration could change as older children become less reliant on parental support (Schmeer, 2009). This presents the opportunity for parents to provide their resources to their younger children. Alternatively, large age gaps could constrict educational resources by eliminating the opportunity to share clothes, toys, etc. to help parents financially (Karwath, et al, 2014). Nevertheless, research has shown that children benefit and obtain more schooling (Marlani, 2008) from larger age gaps (Karwath, et al, 2014; Bu, 2014) and smaller families (Booth Kee, 2008; Karwath, et al, ... Therefore the idea of reclaiming land was portrayed through the development of Wellington. By the 19th century the entire 1840 s shoreline had disappeared from sight, which was represented with rapid urbanization along the waterfront with growth in skyscrapers and the inner city. (Wellington City Council) With rapid development in Wellington towards the mid 1900 s, the additions of motorways along with the multi lane roads through the city were introduced. • 8. Inductive Learning Or Category Learning People learn new information through the induction of categories, allowing for the recognition that different stimuli are the same in a given way. Inductive learning involves recognition and understanding of the similarities and differences among and between stimuli. To learn a new category of information, exemplars belonging to a given category are conceptualized and grouped as belonging to that category. Such learning is fundamental in human cognition, enabling persons to categorize novel exemplars as instances of a given category or concept (Birnbaum, 2013). In a typical study conducted on the topic of inductive learning or category learning, students are presented with a set of exemplars belonging to a particular category and are subsequently asked to identify and induce a general concept pertaining to the given set of observed exemplars (Zulkiply, McLean, Burt, Bath, 2012). Such exemplars may include nonsense syllables, words, sentences, pictures and faces (Ebbinghaus, 1985/1913; Glenberg Lehmann, 1980; Rothkopf Coke, 1966; Hintzman Rogers, 1973; Cornell, 1980). Research on inductive learning shows that participants learn category similarities and category differences from the way in which study stimuli are presented to those participants. In earlier studies on inductive learning, researchers examined the benefits of category learning for education. Researchers focused on how to maximize participants performance in category learning related tasks. In two such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Issue of Nursing Shortage in the United States Nursing Shortages Introduction The shortage of nurses in the United States has been discussed often and has been fully reported in the media over the past several decades. There have been reports of shortages so critical that they actually have become ...a national security concern (Nelson, 2002). Moreover, the reasons for the shortages and potential solutions for this crisis are extremely well covered in the scholarly literature. In this paper, an article in the peer reviewed Health Marketing Quarterly points to how the nursing shortage can be addressed using marketing strategies. In addition, other scholarly articles will be reviewed in order to address the challenges and consequences that could result if this crisis is not addressed immediately. Marketing Nursing as a Profession An article in the Health Marketing Quarterly written by Mark Somers, Linda Finch, and Dee Birnbaum (university instructors in schools of management, nursing and business fields in the U.S.) asserts that the nursing shortages of highly trained nurses and of nursing faculty is close to a level that could be termed a crisis (Somers, et al, 2010). The expected gap between supply and demand will expand to more than a million nurses by 2020, Somers explains, which is twice the shortfall had had been projected just two years prior to this article s publication (292). • 12. The Symbol Of Fire In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding Fire is a powerful element that is known to be destructive, but in some situations it could mean more then what is widely believed. Things can hold meaning behind them in a story that is not always what people would assume. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, the symbol of a fire is shown many times, and its meaning progressively changes as the story goes on. The boys work to keep a fire going in book to attempt to be noticed and rescued. The fire always had a different level of importance to each boy, but there was always an overall underlying meaning behind it that affected them all. They believed that it was just a fire to create smoke, but there was always something more to it that the boys may or may not have been oblivious to. The symbol of the fire in The Lord of the Flies written by William Golding begins as a representation of hope, develops into a divider, and concludes as a figure of rescue. The fire that was created to be a smoke signal to anything that passes the island starts to become a vision of hope for the boys. The fire is first brought into the story very early when Ralph decides it is necessary if they want to be rescued. In the first meeting between all the boys they do not address things like shelter right away, Ralph goes straight into how they can be saved. Golding writes from Ralph s point of view when he is talking to the other boys, There s another thing. We can help them to find us. If a ship comes near the island they may not notice us. ... Z s score fell in the 1st percentile in both auditory comprehension and expressive communication. What this means is that Z scored as well or better than 1% of the sample population of children her age, but 99% of other children her age achieved a higher score. e. Age equivalent scores represent the average score of the children in the sample for a particular age group in a specific area. For example, Z got an age equivalent score of 7 months for auditory comprehension. This does not mean that Z understand language at a 7 month old level, but rather that Z s score corresponds to the average raw score obtained by 7 month olds in the PLS 5 sample. On the expressive communication section, Z s score translated to an age equivalency of 5 months, meaning that her raw score corresponds to the average raw score obtained by 5 month olds in the PLS 5 sample. These scores try to compare children to the average X year old, but language development is remarkably variable and the average child does not really exist. We like to look as average as more of a range, rather than a set level of achievement. 2. Short term Session goals: a. Set in Rome and spanning from forty four to forty two B.C., the play tells of Brutus and Caesar whom both fall from the highest positions to the lowest of misfortune and then are enlightened on their mistakes. Brutus is the stronger example of a tragic hero in this story. Throughout this play, Brutus commits many faults, falls more drastically than all other characters, and regrets his previous actions by the end of the play. Brutus, scrutinizing all of his mistakes, and wishing that he had done things differently verifies that he is the main tragic hero in this classic work. Through these final moments of Brutus s life, the audience of the play can truly see that Brutus is not lying about his love of Caesar, but that he honestly regrets participating, and is sympathetic about the last years of his life. Brutus, even though he has made many mistakes throughout his life, he makes one final one with his last action. Unfortunately, the audience does not know whether or not he regrets committing suicide. Australian contract law is largely attributable to the common law principles albeit various statutes have blossomed to supplement the substance of common law and doctrines of equity. The law of Contract pervades the day to day social and economic activities that have been accentuated by a precipitously burgeoning firmament of electronic commerce. At the outset, this has significantly given rise to enormous complexities within the panoply of contract law. Ideally, there are various forms of contract that attract legal attention. It is apt to early state that this paper seeks, for all intents and purposes to explore the key dimensions of contracts by electronic means. Electronic Contracts Contracts by electronic means are commonly referred to paperless contracts, figuratively. They can be defined as agreements created in digital form without the traditional use of a pen and paper. The dividing line between electronic contracts and the traditional form of contract is very thin. They are arguably governed by the general rules of offer and acceptance applicable in contract law and accepted both internationally and by Australian law. Conversely, a contract formed electronically is treated like a paper agreement and is legally valid if the contract can easily be retrieved for future references after the execution and the parties ... Examples Of Postmodern Fragmentation Of Gender Postmodern fragmentation of gender According to Lee (1999), postmodern theories abandon modernist singular identities for a fragmented version of history, where individuals are unstable, constantly moving objects. Post structuralist discourse feminists have dramatically altered views of gender and sex, creating a distinctly new paradigm for the concept of womanhood, and providing a comprehensive demolition job on Western orthodoxies (Sheehan, 2004, p.21). In his way, identity is not only socially and culturally constructed, but it also changes in different contexts, such as class, race or sexual orientation, and established systems, such as Western hegemony, humanism, and the nature of reality, are deconstructed (Woodward, 2002; Stoddart, ... • 39. The History of Film Editing My grandpa is always talking about how much movies have changed with time. His favorite movie, E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, is an example of how editing and special effects have changed drastically since 1982 and even before that. The one her racing brain finally decides on is a tamarack. Climbing with all her might in her upper body, for cross country has made her strong, Gina focused on getting to the top. She climbed and climbed. Her body scratched against the bark and her clothes tore. She climbed on. Nothing could stop her determination to live. As she came to rest at the top her muscles were sore and she had cuts all over. Made it, was all that Gina could muster before the birds flew to knock her off balance and fall of the tree to plummet to her death. Simon Chan, in his book Liturgical Theology: The Church as Worshiping Community, challenges the Evangelical Pentecostal worldview through the lens of liturgy and sacrament. As a theologian in the Assemblies of God denomination, Chan poses the question, of whether the church is an instrument to accomplish God s purpose in creation or an expression of God s ultimate purpose itself. This is expressed through the term divine humanity, each chapter slowly begins to unravel how the church should strive to be the object Christ to the world, thus becoming its identity. The focus of the book began to combine such an expression of liturgical theology in the Pentecostal mindset. • 45. The Death Penalty Is Wrong Sean Shen Mr. Todd Languages and Literature, E 8, Research Paper April 20th 2018 The Death Penalty is Wrong The death penalty has been considered one of the most severe punishments by governments. However, recently, many people have rebelled against the death penalty. The death penalty is an act that is similar to being ruled under fascism instead of democracy. Under the rule of democracy, citizens are responsible for the acts of other fellow citizens, which can be inferred that crime is caused by the lack of responsibility in society. The victim s loved ones suffer due to the victim s death. It is understandable that they would want the murderer dead, but society often does not work that way. People need to think on behalf of the society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, the opposing view states that if the death penalty did not exist, then it could have a tremendous effect on society. However, that is not true. If there were no death penalty, we would still have other punishments that were used like life imprisonment. There are other forms of physical punishment such as whipping. This type of punishment would be able to take the place of the death penalty because the death penalty is just too extreme. In truth, criminals need a second chance in their life for them to succeed. Here is a quote: Hoang Vu (attempted murderer) and Terrell Carswell (cocaine trafficking and robbery) were next, pulling Burden off the deputy while David Schofield (aggravated assault and battery) grabbed Moon s radio and called for help. If they had a second chance to integrate into society, they would live better lives without damaging society. If we look at the problem on behalf of society, isn t it one of our responsibilities to forgive rather than taking everything from them?
