Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

5. WHAT IS SILENCE
Si·lence [sahy-luhns] noun1. absence of
any sound or noise; stillness
The state or fact of being silent;
muteness.
Absence or omission of mention,
comment, or expressed concern
The state of being forgotten; oblivion:
in the news again after years of silence.
Concealment; secrecy.
WHAT IS
COMMUNICATION
Communication is the activity of
conveying information through the exchange of
ideas, feelings, intentions, attitudes, expectations,
perceptions or commands, as by speech, non-verbal
gestures, writings, behavior.
Silence generally means absence of any kind of
noise.
But in communication it is seen as absence of
speech.
So, absence of speech doesn’t mean that the person
is not communicating with the other person.
Silence is a very powerful form of communication.
6.
7.
When words can’t express everything, your gesture
does it. Communication, either in form of verbal or
nonverbal, has to be so intense that the person
receiving the message should get a clear meaning of
what has been said. These skills include your
expressions, gestures, body movements, eye contact,
tone of voice, and posture. So, in order to establish a
bonding of love and care, a person needs to have such
qualities in them.
8.
Applying your nonverbal communication skills
There are several ways in which we can apply our nonverbal communication
skills for improving our personal and social life. Some of the important ways
in doing so include the following.
Convey compassion : When you really love a person, then the first gesture that
should emerge from you is compassion. And that person should be getting
the exact feeling as that of yours. When you can empathize your feelings for
others and that could be the best way to convey what you feel for others. It
will help them to understand what you really feel for them. For developing
that strong bond, all you have to do is to put yourself in others’ shoes and that
will be the time when you would actually be able to develop a compassionate
bond.
9. Develop hand gestures : Let your hands do the talking. The way a person shakes hands very much
shows how much of importance he/she is paying the other person shaking hands. Not just this,
hand signals can even make or break a relation. If you point your figure to your partner, this gives
a negative signal to the person, thus ending up badly. It is very important to know the correct hand
gestures for conveying the right message.
Use positive reinforcement : Don’t show anger or rude behavior as it will imply you are
complaining to your partner. Appreciate your partner’s flaw in a positive way, things will really
work better.
Use nonverbal communication to connect and bond : A mere touch can make the other person feel
what’s going around in your mind. In situation of trouble and problem, a mere touch can tell your
partner that you are always there with them. A simple touch can reveal feelings and make the
other person feel special. A simple touch can do wonders in tensed situations.
Nonverbal communications, be it with a small baby, couples, parents, friends or colleagues, have
to be in a way that brings out the best in you and make you a better individual.
10.
11.
Hostility or Disagreement
Profoundness such as Respect ,Awe Or Horror.
Contemplation.
Intentional Rudeness.
Empathy
Silence can create a listening space.
12.
13.
Eyebrows pulled down together,
Wide open, glairing eyes,
Upper eyelids raised in a stare,
Lips wide open to form a rectangle, or
Tightly closed with the red margins of the lips
becoming more narrow, and the lips becoming thinner
Such Gestures Show ANGER
14.
Being A good Listener
Accepting Others Opinions
Making Eye Contact When A Conversation Takes Place
Not Interrupting While One States A Point
Giving Proper Attention To A Conversation With
Someone.
Always Speaking In A Calm Way
15.
Being a good listener shows empathy
Accepting the persons facts and problems shows
gratitude and empathy
Respecting their talks
Making Eye Contact
16.
Laid down eyes speak to convey guilt
Avoiding a person or a talk conveys guilt
Being alone conveys guilt
Listening to a person evidently when guilty shows
a that the listener is guilty.
An act of silence makes the speaker realize that the
listener accepts his mistake.
18.
Being hostile and ignoring someone depicts rudeness
towards the person
Not being attentive towards ones talks also shows
rudeness
Doing the work deligently and not answering the
speaker shows a mark of ignorance.
Not talking and showing a pessimist attitude shows a
mark of ignorance and rudeness.
19.
Intentional ignorance shows Disagreement
Without speaking acting against a particular task
without informing the speaker shows a mark of
disagreement.
Frowning and no direct eye contact is a mark of
disagreement.
Making different facial expression and acting arrogant
is a mark of disagreement
21.
Silence acts as a best way of communication when
an individual wants to connect with god.
An individual through silence prays and asks for
blessings and shares problems with god.
By bowing in front of the almighty and joining
hands an individual connects to god
Best way is to meditate.
