training can continue as long as a student is initiating the interaction. Observation of behavior will be
for the entire 6 hour day to measure the effects of the treatment. A parental survey will be given at the
onset of treatment and at the end of the 6th week.
Materials
PECS icons and a PECS book have been obtained as well as a laminator and this researcher will select
5 icons measuring 2 x 2 with a Velcro adhesive on the back. The icons have been predetermined via
reviewing previous session notes to determine what factors seem to be most linked to maladaptive
behaviors. For example, this student is highly motivated for the iPad, so there ... Show more content

Physical Aggression Defined as striking others with any part of the client s body such as hitting,
kicking, scratching, pinching, head butting, grabbing, throwing objects at others and/or using an object
to strike another person.
Tantrum Defined as the occurrence of one or both of the above listed topographies of behavior that
continue to occur for longer than 10 seconds. A tantrum ends after 30 seconds of appropriate behavior
(e.g., sitting quietly, watching television, playing with toy, etc.).
Communication Defined as vocal behavior which may be echoic or intelligible which is in response to
a stimulus. Vocal approximations to words will also be counted as a vocal attempt such as pees for
please .
Independent Variable The independent variable for this study will be the PECS exchange, which has
been modified from two trainers to one. The researcher will play the part of both communicative
partner and physical prompter, if necessary. The exchange will consist of the subject picking up the
2x2 icon, reaching towards the researcher and placing the icon in the researcher s hand. This will
constitute one instance of PECS regardless of whether it is initiated by the student or the researcher.
During the treatment phase CG s mother will be reminded daily to make her duplicate icons available
to him at all times.
Design
A multiple baseline across behaviors design will be utilized to ascertain whether or not the use of

Jewish Resistance During The Holocaust
Number of Jews who lived in Europe before 1933: Approximately 9.5 million, 60 percent of the world
s Jews (Haaretz). The Holocaust started Jan 30, 1933 and ended May 8, 1945. Hitler was the leader of
Germany, he hated Jewish people and blamed them for everything. Hitler is the reason why 6 million
Jewish people were murdered. In the Holocaust, the Jewish people did not give up easily, they formed
two types of resistance to fight or survive the Holocaust. During the Holocaust, there was various acts
of Jewish resistance both armed and unarmed in order to preserve honor and faith.
One of the Jewish resistance is unarmed spiritual resistance. The Jewish people were not allowed to
practice their religion. An article states, The Germans forbade religious services in Ghettos ( Spiritual

Essay On Black Girl
Film is a series of artistic moving images that make up a story. In every film, the director visually
presents the storyline, different characters, the problems they encounter and how they were deal with.
There is a wide range of ways to study films of various genres. We focus on film language, genre,
mise en scene, representation, stereotypes, etc. In Black Girl, it was depicted as an allegory and had a
lot of mise en scene.
Some examples of mise en scene in Black Girl includes the mask, clothing and objects in the Dakar
and France homes. The mask is a very powerful symbol because it represents Diouana. In the
beginning of the film, Diouana was living happily with her boyfriend and had no troubles. She wanted
to seek for employment and was hired by a French couple to care for their children. When Diouana

Back in the 1900s, France colonized many countries. Senegal is one of those countries that France
controlled. The foreign government of France controlling Senegal is similar to the French couple
deciding everything for Diouana. An example is when the French couple receives a letter from
Diouana s mother and responds to the letter by writing what they want. The French couple holds a
dominant position in the household and does not allow Diouana to voice her opinion. At first, Diouana
was excited to go to France with the French couple because she imagined how her life would change,
but she was fooled. Diouana misunderstood that she would continue to care for the children, but she
was treated like a slave. It is like Diouana fell for the trap because she had to do labor on a daily basis.
Diouana had a low social status, accused of many things and treated poorly. After a while, Diouana
could not stand being mistreated all the time which ultimately led to her committing suicide. The
director of Black Girl wanted to tell the audience that Diouana suffered a lot ever since she started

Dante s Paradiso And Dante
God is the ultimate creator of everything. Before God created the world, nothing preexisted. The
reason God created the world was to be generous, not because someone told him. God is the almighty
power so God is not told what to do, He chooses what he does. Saint Anselm through his story Cur
Deus Homo and Dante through his story Divine Comedy talk about the incarnation of Christ to show
the almighty power that God holds. God makes all his decisions for the benefit of the people and does
what He feels is best for them. In Dante s Paradiso and in Cur Deus Homo by Saint Anselm they show
that his decision of incarnating Christ was a necessary one for the people of the world to have the
ability to forgive human sins, to show His infinite power, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea is present in Anselm when Anselm writes If the punishment of the sinner is not to the honor
of God, then God loses his honor and does not regain it... (citation). Honor is important for God and
he wants to have people worship him. If God did not hold people accountable for their sins, then the
world will go mad. In order to maintain his honor he became man to have a presence felt. God felt that
if he had a presence felt then he would maintain his honor and help prevent sin. Similar, Beatrice said
Mankind lay sick, in the abyss of a great error, for long centuries, until the Word of God willed to
descend to where the nature that was sundered from its maker was united to his person by the sole act
of His eternal Love (409). This quote is about Adam and the original sin when he says great error. This
was the first ever sin and God needed to handle it appropriately. Since the sin of Adam people lost a
little faith in God because it showed that there was evil in the world. People had trouble believing
there was evil in the world, so they needed something to prove that there was still

Melting Point Range Of Unknown 8 And Maleic Acid
The results in Table 1 from part 1 of the experiment are accurate in melting point ranges for each
compound. The samples went from a powdery white to a clear liquid. Urea is a little bit higher than
from its melting point range of 132°C 133°C and trans cinnamic acid is in its melting point range of
132°C 135°C. They are both pure compounds because they stayed relatively close to their melting
point ranges. The 50/50 mixture has a lower melting point and a broader melting point range because
each compound acts as an impurity in the other. The results in Table 2 from part 2 of the experiment
have higher melting points than their supposed melting point range. The samples went from a
powdery white to a clear liquid. The unknown 8 compound was guessed to be maleic acid since its
melting point was in the range 137°C 140°C. For the final trial, however, both unknown 8 and maleic
acid had higher melting points out of the range and the 50/50 mixture melted first. This was because
the maleic acid used was made from two different salts causing the melting point to be slightly off. In
this case, maleic acid is the correct compound of unknown 8 and the melting points are fine. ... Show

What Is The Difference Between Modern And Modern Society
ompare and contrast traditional and modern society There is nothing more in the world that can arouse
people sympathy than by seeing children and women live in a harsh living environment and being
abused on both mental and physical perspective. In Old society, people are hemmed by their family
honor, inborn mission, society rules. They never have freedom and rights to choose and persuade joy,
dream; they live for their union in their whole life. On the other hand, modern people have democracy
and rights to plan their life, and whom they want to be, but they are also confined by advanced
technology, and social rules, and social norms. Women and children who live in modern society have
much higher social status than old days. However, if you ask, do people who live in nowadays live
better life than those people who live in early society. My answer is no. Although both modern culture
and traditional society are misfortune in their way, I am more sympathetic to those who live in
contemporary society. Both modern people and traditional people are confined by social rules. Both

How To Repair Your Concrete Walkway So It s Safe And Attractive
The walkway to your front door should be kept in good condition so it doesn t ruin the appearance of
your home. Repairing cracks is important so no one trips and falls on your property. Falling on
concrete could break a bone or cause a head injury. You could even get sued for not maintaining your
walkway properly and creating a hazard. Here are a few tips for repairing cracks in your concrete
walkway and improving its appearance.
Fill In The Cracks
You can probably fill in small cracks yourself. Start by cleaning your walkway to get rid of sand and
dirt. Focus on getting debris and weeds out of all the cracks. You can buy concrete crack filler in a
squeeze container that s easy to use. Just squeeze the filler into the crack and scrape off the excess, so
the surface is level. Filling big cracks takes a little more work. To get the filler to adhere properly, you
ll need to widen the bottom of the crack. With the bottom wider than the top, the filler will be trapped
in place.
Use a pick and hammer to knock pieces of concrete loose from the bottom of the crack, being careful
not to make the top of the crack any wider. You may want to buy a bag ... Show more content on

Call a concrete contractor to take a look and offer an opinion. Grinding the higher side of the crack
will make your walkway even again, and it is much less expensive than tearing out part of the
sidewalk and putting in new concrete. The contractor can grind away all raised portions of your
sidewalk so it is level and safe. The contractor can fill in the cracks and apply a coating on the
concrete to restore its appearance, or leave that job to you. Another time you may need to hire a
contractor is when your walkway has crumbling sides. Those need to be repaired by creating a
wooden frame along the walkway and then filling it in with

Powers Of The United States Constitution
Mia Stagnitta
Mrs. Tobin
American Government 7
17 November 2014
Enumerated Powers The United States Constitution consists of twenty seven expressed or enumerated
powers. These powers were carefully constructed by the Framers of the Constitution in hopes that the
government would remain fair in its law making ways. The Legislative Branch is comprised of the
Senate and House of Representatives, commonly referred to as Congress. It known of as the law
making body of the United States government with the help of the president or the Executive Branch.
Congress must exercise or follow the powers stated in the Constitution. Three enumerated powers that
have made and are still making significant impacts on the United States are the Necessary and Proper
Clause, Commerce Clause, and the power to declare war. The Necessary and Proper Clause is stated in
Article I, Section 8, and Clause 18 of the Constitution. This Clause is commonly referred to as the
Elastic Clause as well as several other names: the Sweeping Clause, the Coefficient Clause, and the
Basket Clause, and. These names are all appropriate due to the fact that they all represent the meaning
of the clause itself. It is accredited as the Elastic Clause because it stretches the power of Congress;
thus, giving the Legislative Branch the ability to increase their power (Namtvedt). Although there are
a plethora of enumerated powers such as this one, this clause enables Congress to stretch the
expressed powers

production process, whether that was in their crew through working with Nico Marlet as a character
designer or being backed creatively by Disney Veteran Glen Keane (although no details have been
revealed as to Keane s involvement in the production). The visual style of Mune can be broken down
into numerous points, but this article will only focus on: Cinematography (Which is further broken
down into camera movement, shot size and angle) Lighting Composition Colour Very few films use
all these elements to their full capacity and in a dense medium Mune stands out. Animation has little

Taking a Look at Greek, Chinese and Indian Civilizations
Every single civilization, past or present, had different types of achievements. These achievements
such as cultural, mathematical, scientific, etc. help define how successful that civilization was. There
were always scientific and mathematical achievements of different magnitudes in every civilization.
The three civilizations that really stand out in their mathematical and scientific achievements are the
Greek, Chinese, and Indian civilizations. Ancient India began around 2600 B.C. and ended around 500
A.D. The civilization flourished around the Indus River, which is one of the greatest rivers in Asia.
They were a well organized and farming people. They had so many natural boundaries that protected
them, so they didn t have to take time to create a military, which let them prosper and have very
important achievements. Ancient China began around 2205 B.C. and really ends around 256 B.C.
Ancient China was a very large, long, and powerful empire. They were the longest civilization and
they are still around today, and still use the beliefs of the ancient times. In China, people farmed,
people were warriors, people were merchants, etc. There was really no preferred job in Ancient China.
The abundance of the variety of jobs led to the discoveries of many different achievements. Ancient
Greece began around 700 B.C. and ended around 146 B.C. Its geography was mainly mountainous
and only twenty percent of the land was suitable for farming. The lack of farmland and isolation from

Comparing Pascal s Wager In Catholicism And The Christian God
Pascal s Wager is often considered one of philosophies weakest religious arguments to date. Pascal
invents a wager to persuade the one who questions God into attending church, following the Ten
Commandments, and following any other traditions in the Catholic Church. The wager is, if a person
is a believer and after departing from this earth they find that they are correct, then their rewards are
infinite. They will receive eternal life and a relationship with God in heaven. On the other hand if a
person is a non believer and after death they find that they are incorrect, then their loss is infinite.
Meaning they have the possibility of eternal damnation and separation from God. There are another
two possibilities, in which God does not exist and the believer is incorrect and the non believer is
correct. Both of these scenarios have finite rewards or finite losses. Depending on matter of opinion,
one could say that a life doing good works and being part of a community is a reward in itself whether
or not God actually exists but to someone else it could be a restriction or a loss of freedom. None the
less, if God turns out to not exist the atheist and the theist would only have finite consequences. Pascal
s Wager is rooted in Catholicism and the Christian God. Making the wager apply to much broader
terms would take away the many Gods criticism and make the argument stronger. Restructuring the
Wager and offering the possibility of evidence, which is what Pascal should have

The Obsatment Theory Of Edward Gein
Edward Theodore Gein was born on August 27th, 1906 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to an alcoholic father
and an extremely religious mother who taught him that sex was a sinful act an early age and preached
her religious teachings to both Ed and his brother. By 1915 Gein s mother had decided to move the
family to a farm in Plainfield Wisconsin and only let him go out in order to go to school. Due to this,
the main influence in his life was his mother. Once his mother died in 1945 Gein s obsessive
attachment to her and her teachings would end up making him one of the most heinous and notorious
killers in American history. This essay will show how the attachment theory is applicable in Ed Gein s
case. More specifically, how Gein s attachment to his mother and how her death ultimately proved to
be deadly. Gein s most influential childhood influence was his mother Augusta who was a very strict
and religious woman. Augusta despised her husband who was an alcoholic and wanted to raise her
children in a religious environment in order to keep them away from a life of sin. Gein s father was
unable to keep a steady job and finally decided to move to a farm isolated from urbanization. ( A E
Television Network, 2017) Gein s father would both verbally and physically abuse him and his brother
Henry as a result of alcoholism. Although his mother would also verbally abuse him Gein idolized her.
His mother used the opportunity the farm presented in order to turn away anyone who she thought

Genetic Engineering And Human Engineering
Genetic engineering is a highly debated topic across the world right now as countries are split for and
against genetically altering crops and livestock. The simple definition for genetic engineering
according to CSIRO is The use of modern biotechnology techniques to change genes of an organism,
such as plant or animal. (CSIRO, 2007)
The techniques or steps to genetic engineering are quite technical. The first stage of genetic
engineering is to isolate the DNA from the organism. Once the DNA strand is separated it is cut by a
restricting enzyme. The restricting enzymes snips the DNA into a smaller code usually between the G
and C nucleotides. The restriction enzyme also leaves a unique sticky substance on the end of each
new strand. The next step is too place the newly cut fragments inside a plasmid. A plasmid can be
defined as A linear or circular double stranded DNA that is capable of replicating independently of the
chromosomal DNA. (Biology Online, 2009) this means in order for the new strands of DNA to be
accepted by the cell it must be fixed inside a plasmid. The same restricting enzyme is used on the
plasmid. This allows the DNA strand and plasmid to stick and join together. Once joined the
phosphodiester bonds are formed by the DNA ligase on either edge of the strand. Transformation is
the next stage as the newly formed plasmids are taken in by the host bacterial cells. The cells are now
a DNA library and can be administered to the required organism.

Medical Ethics Of The Doctor Patient Relationship
You may not control life s circumstances, but getting to be the author of your life means getting to
control what you do with them (Atul Gawande). This quote, from renowned surgeon and essayist, Atul
Gawande, expresses an important idea in medical ethics: patients possess a certain level of autonomy
in the doctor patient relationship, and this autonomy needs to be respected by medical professionals.
Ethically speaking, physicians owe their patients full disclosure about their diagnoses, treatment
options, and any potential medical risks. Patients have the inherent right to know all aspects of their
illness or malady, and it is not up to physicians to decide which information should be withheld from
patients. Withholding information from patients breaks down any trust that may have existed within
the physician patient relationship, and thus leads to an overall patient dissatisfaction towards the
healthcare system.
In any patient physician relationship, one of the most essential components is the element of trust. One
patient remarks on the importance of trust by saying, We trust them not to use that expertise to exploit
our vulnerability for their own interests...and we trust them to empower and enable us to place their
recommendations into the full context of our own hierarchy of values (Pellegrino, Thomasma 1993).
This patient is accurately describing trust in the context of the consumer model or patient autonomy
model of a doctor patient relationship doctors provide

What Is A Supervisor Essay
As being a previous supervisor, I have had times where I ran into this issue. When a supervisor I
would notice at times that it can be hard to make sure that a team is still motivated if they are self
directed. Self directed meaning is to be under one s own control.
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/self directed So as a manager, the question you may ask is what
difficulties does a person run into when establishing a self direct and high performance team. In a high
performance team it is necessary that there is trust. Even as high performance team they still need
some assistance from the supervisor. I can be certain because at my job that I have now, the team I am

Motivation requires energy, and the manager of a company must be able to communicate with the
different diversities within the team and keep the team going down the right path. Statistics say that
high trusted teams created openness and create a positive atmosphere and better performance. Another
area that could cause a supervisor to have some issues with a high performance team is to keep the
team open minded. High performance team may run into the process where they are not willing to
listen to other team members opinion. This could cause the vision to not be seen or, it can cause the
company to not meet the objective because of a close minded mentality. We discussed what areas may
require more opportunities for coaching but, what characteristics are good to have when managing a
high performance team. In a self managing team, some of the better aspects are that they can do
whatever task they are given without the need to have a supervisor looking over them. They do not
need to be micromanaged. High performance team can be self motivated do what is needed to
complete the project given to them. The team members on this type of team keep everyone
responsible, for their part of the vision in the company. The trust that the team members have for each
other is what helps create such success. They have specific set knowledge and skills which can be
utilized to continually be successful

The Denial of Thousands of Murders: The holocaust vs The Rape of Nanjing
The small things can make a big difference in the world. The holocaust started out as a small thing
against the Jews like making them wear yellow stars. It started with that and then Hitler turned it into
a full scale war against the Jewish. The Jewish people were in the same situation as the Chinese
people were they both tried to hide and run. The Rape of Nanjing were a mass murder of hundreds of

Sexting Child Pornography
Some people believe that sexting should not be criminalized or treated as distribution of child
pornography . After researching, sexting has seemed less and less harmful. Sexting is seen as an act or
discretion only done by kids, but that isn t always the case, so why have the same punishment for an
adult as you would have for a minor, when minors are not given the same rights as adults. The
sentencing for sexting or distribution of child pornography should become circumstantial. Sexting is
not always harmful and should be seen as the act of a criminal. Sexting among teens should not be
criminalized. Current child pornography laws are designed to protect children, but when applied to
sexting and teens, it subjects youths to potential felony charges, which can ruin their lives by labeling
them as sex offenders and confusing them with adults convicted of heinous sex crimes against minors.
(American Civil Liberties Unions). As a child or an adult, being labeled as a sex offender can ruin the
person s life and can limit them on many things later in life. Sex offenders have certain guidelines that
they have to follow such as; a sex offender can not live near any school and a sex offender must
register each year as a sex offender, they can not join any form of military, and before moving into any
neighborhood they must go to each person s house and notify the person that they are a state registered
sex offender.Existing criminal laws, that carry the potential for a felony conviction and sex offender
restrictions, are not meant to address teen sexting. Under the existing laws and their extensive punitive
effects, these teens will be stripped of a future as their education and work prospects will be bleak.
Teens should become exempt from these charges or misdemeanors, on the bases that they are only
kids and still minors. Teens should be educated about responsible behavior when it comes to media.
There should be punishment for any picture sent without consent, for instance any pornographic or
any form of sexting picture randomly sent without the receiving person wanting or giving consent
should be met with a punishment, but still not a punishment that will follow them for the rest of their
life. In

Comparison of Homer and Virgil’s Tragic Hero
Comparison of Homer and Virgil s Tragic Hero
Homer, an ancient Greek epic poet, influenced many writers in the ancient Greek and Roman culture,
particularly Virgil. Virgil, most famous for his epic poem The Aeneid demonstrates Homer s influence
through similar characters, mythology, and ideals. Homer in both his most famous works the Iliad and
The Odyssey weaves poetry based on centuries worth of oral stories handed down and uses a
sophisticated style of writing that is still recognized today. Although the tragic hero is defined slightly
differently in modern text than ancient Greek and Roman works, Aristotle defined a tragic hero in his
work Poetics as the character between these two extremes, that of a man who is not eminently good ...

Homer used pride as the tragic flaw that Achilles learned to overcome, whereas Virgil used a sense of
duty as Aeneas s tragic flaw. Homer portrayed Achilles as arrogant because he allowed his men to
fight a battle he knew they could not win without him. Achilles asked his mother for Zeus to favor the
Trojans so that he could regain the honor that he felt Agamemnon stripped away. Aeneas s tragic flaw
unlike Achilles was his sense of duty, which in turn he encountered pitfalls during his escape from
Troy. Achilles battled for personal glory and his own honor as a warrior whereas Aeneas spent his time
attempting to fulfill his mission, which forced him to invade and conquer, a duty given to him by the
gods. Virgil unites and conjoins all the virtues in the formation of his hero: He gives him religion
towards the gods, piety towards his country, tenderness and friendship towards his relations, and
equity and justice towards all (Rapin). On the contrary, Homer magnified the tragic flaw in Achilles,
which cost him his sanity because he became obsessive with revenge. Although Aeneas s flaw appears
minor in comparison to Achilles, it led him to be an instrument of gods, which in turn destroyed
innocent lives. Mercury appeared to Aeneas to remind him of his mission and told him, Oblivious of
your own world, your own kingdom...He [Zeus] and no other sent me to you...Think of the

there were no secure borders and the aristocracy acted as local rulers. In 1643 when Louis XIV came

Although the Vatican prefers burial over cremationfor Catholics, a new decree authorized by Pope

ruling also suggested that those who insist on scattering the ashes of their departed loved ones should

Heinrich Himmler And His Life Essay
Heinrich Himmler was born on October 7th, 1900 in Munich to a middle class Bavarian family. His
father was Joseph Gebhard Himmler, a secondary school teacher and principal. His mother was Anna
Maria Himmler (maiden name Heyder), a devout Catholic and extremely attentive mother. Heinrich
had an older brother, Gebhard Ludwig Himmler, and a younger brother, Ernst Hermann Himmler.
Heinrich was named after his godparent, Prince Heinrich of Wittelsbach of the royal family of
Bavaria, who was tutored by Gebhard Himmler. Educated at secondary school in Landshut, Himmler
served as an officer cadet in the 11th Bavarian Regiment at the end of WW1, although he saw no
active service. After working briefly as a salesman for a fertilizer manufacturing firm, Heinrich
Himmler joined the Nazi party and in the November of 1923 participated in the Beer Hall Putsch as a
standard bearer at the side of Ernst Rohm. All of these roles combined together were a major reason
for Heinrich Himmler being chosen for the jobs he received later in his militaristic life. It is surprising,
that Heinrich Himmler, the chief of the SS and the primary architect of the Holocaust, has not
attracted the attentions of more biographers. For all that he had taken part in for the history of the
Third Reich, he appears to lack the infamous charisma of Heydrich or Hitler, and because of this lack
of infamous charisma he has been presented only rarely as a primary subject for a book about the

The Beauty of the Mundane in Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary
In Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary, it is difficult to know what to think of Monsieur Binet and his
lathe. His constant devotion to such an unrewarding pursuit would seem to act as the bourgeois
backdrop to Emma Bovary s quest for eternal passion and excitement, a polar opposite with which
Emma can stand in sharp contrast. However, it turns out that Binet and his lathe have more in common
with Emma and her rampant desires than what would first appear obvious. Binet s lathe still serves as
a background with which to compare Emma s quest for love and riches, but instead of acting as a

In this one sentence Flaubert not only gives example of how the works are repetitive, with similar
plots, and dying horses on every page, but he also manages to capture the clichéd, melodramatic style
of romance novels that makes them all seem the same. The repetitiveness extends into real life as well,
as Emma s love affairs constantly lose their fire and begin to become routine, or, as Rodolphe notes,
the charm of novelty, falling down slowly like a dress, expose[s] only the eternal monotony of
passion, always the same forms and the same language (154).
The feeling of superiority that the lathe gives Binet fits more obviously with Emma s action and
character. He uses his lathe with the jealousy of an artist and the egoism of a bourgeois (60). He feels
that his craftsmanship and dedication to the lathe make him superior to those deprived souls that do
not have one. We see these feelings firsthand when Binet suggests to Leon that he should take up the
lathe as a solution to his problems. When Leon admits that he knows nothing about lathes, Binet
replies That is true, and strok[es] his chain, with a look that mingle[s] disdain and satisfaction (94).

The book 1984 deals with a man named Winston Smith, realizing that his government is not what it

over the minds of the population. The government controls everyone s house with televisions that
never turn off, their thoughts and doings, and on signs it says Big Brother is Watching You. The film
describes a controlling, almost totalitarian, government with one leader, identified as Big Brother. His

Application Of Graphics And Design
Application of graphics Backgrounds A good background should have a consistent colour scheme
which is eye catching without being overpowering to your eyes. So depending on the style of site
should use block colours this will give the website a sleek but simple look. But depending on the
purpose of a site the background colours etc. can vary e.g. if a background was for a childrens sight it
may be colourful or a car site may be a steely grey if it was intended to sell sports cars e.g. an Aston
Martin. Backgrounds are a prevelant feature on websites and can be the block from which a website
designer decides on what layout and colour schemes they use throughout the rest of the site. When
deciding on a background a website designer must take into account the file size of the background
image and maybe the quality of the background image as it may lead to longer load times and so the
background should be properly optimised. For a background image the designer can use a raster image
say if the background was the badge of a car or an image of a sports car. Raster images are good for
displaying detailed images their quality is lost when they are zoomed in. This is an example of a bad

Building A Computer And The Computer
Building a computer
When people hear that some people build their own computer, they automatically decide that it must
be some very challenging task that requires a wizard of all things electronic. I will demonstrate
otherwise, by starting with what parts to purchase for a good computer tailored to what is being
planned on being done with it. Be it playing games, video editing, or just simple internet browsing.
Moving onward to an almost as essential step as putting it together: what tools are going to be needed
before we begin the actual assembly process. As one can most likely deduce it does not matter how
much is spent or what parts are purchased; if the tools to assemble it are not gathered, getting nowhere
is all that is going to get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The CPU or central processing unit is what executes the programs. It is also where a majority of the
money that is spent is going. Next, we are going to procure a motherboard which, in a sense, connects
a majority of the other components together so that they can work together. RAM (random access
memory) is next on the list. Whatever data is in operation at the time is going to be stored on the RAM
so that it can be quickly accessed. The amount one gets should be decided on what is being planned on
doing with it if just browsing two to four gigabytes if fine, but if editing or coding is planned eight or
more should be purchased. A power supply is, as you can probably deduce, what powers the computer
itself. Think about this: what happens if you try to start a car with no battery? Well, the same thing is
going to happen to a computer should we have decided it was a bright idea not to get one or install it.
Now, how are we going to plan to fit all the cool things that are going to be downloaded once we get
the computer up and running? By getting a hard drive. It is where all of the crucial data is going to be
stored. We are going to put all of this in whichever computer case that the user has chosen. These are
all the parts necessary for an average browsing and minimal intensive program build.
Although, should one decide that a gaming or very intensive computer is necessary a few extra parts
can and should be purchased. For example: a

The Corpse Flower
I had purchased a commercial residential high rise, including the rights to the back rent, which I got at
a substantial discount. However, after deducting what I owe, I was still just the proud owner of
mortgage papers. My joints ached as I made my way down the hall. Ten years ago, I was a florist until

comfortably as I could. Buying poorly managed buildings, casting out the dead beats, up the rent, sell

sound of the afternoon soap opera that emanated from the apartment went silent. I heard the footsteps
approaching the door, the peephole went dark. I banged again louder this time. I m the new landlord,

Notes On The Rhythm Control
2.5.3. Rhythm Control
2.5.1.1. Cardioversion
Usually performed electively, cardioversions are procedures that are performed to convert an
arrhythmia back to sinus rhythm.. There are two types of cardioversions; pharmacological and
electrical.
Pharmacological cardioversions are performed via administering arrhythmia medication to patients to
restore the heart s rhythm to normal sinus rhythm. Pharmacological cardioversions were the standard
cardioversion procedures performed before electrical cardioversion became more commonly used.
Advantages of pharmacological cardioversions are such that the procedure does not require sedation,
(whereas electrical cardioversion does), and the development of new drugs has made it more of a

The main risk associated with DC cardioversion is the occurrence of embolic events and cardiac
arrhythmias (Fuster V et al; 2001).
2.5.1.2. Surgical Ablation Cox Maze Procedure
James Cox, along with his colleagues, developed the Cox Maze procedure, (also known as the Maze
procedure) which is an open heart surgical procedure designed to eliminate AF. The procedure consists
of creating conduction barriers within the RA and LA, thus limiting the number of wavelets able to
propagate themselves within the atrial myocardium, thus eliminating AF.
A five year follow up study was conducted to assess whether the Cox Maze procedure was a viable
treatment option for AF patients. The sample size consisted of 75 patients who had undergone the
maze procedure for the treatment of AF. At the end of the five years, 65 patients had been followed up
for three months post procedure. The end result was that the Maze procedure was successful in
treating AF in 98% (n = 64) of the 65 patients followed up. It was also successful in treating AF
without the need for medication in 89% (n = 58), and with the need for medication in 9% (n = 6) of
the total cohort respectively. This therefore proves that the Cox maze procedure is an effective
treatment method for AF patients (Cox JL et al; 1993).
2.5.1.3. Catheter Ablation
As a result of the success of the Cox Maze procedure, catheter ablation strategies were developed in
an attempt to replicate the

Sons Of Liberty Fanatics Essay
Were the Sons of Liberty fanatics that wanted their way and their way only or, were they heroes who
did not find the british taxes fair and fought for the freedom for AMERICA. As most know, most
americans believe that the sons of liberty were heroes for fighting for freedom, dang if it wasn t for
people like George Washington you wouldn t even reading this.
People who were in the sons of liberty were people like Samuel Adams, John Hancock, George
Washington, Ben Franklin, John Adams and 22 more. All 27 men fought for what America is today.
Examples of what these men did is the Tea party which was about the protest of the British Parliament
Tea act in 1773. They gave average people a chance and a voice. They fought for freedom and also

What these stamps were is basically where if you wanted to buy a home you need to get a stamp
saying that you own that home which is unnecessary. Also what made the sons of liberty mad too is
that the british would have officers go into homes without permission, which was invading privacy.
Admittedly, there are some who believe that the sons of liberty were terrorist or fanatics. The reason
why some people believe this is because the sons of liberty did some stuff back then that would not be
acceptable such as, incited riots, the tea party, tarring and feathering tax collectors, taking furniture
from tax collectors and burning down their homes, smuggling, recruiting thugs, refused to pay tax´s
and manipulated and intimidated the british. People who believe that the sons of liberty were fanatics
do have points. Getting tarred is painful enough, then getting feathered just sucks. Then there is worse,
you can lose all your stuff that matters to you like your home and furniture being on fire because
people are mad at you for doing your job. However, if it wasn t for all that torture and suffering on the
british tax collectors, america wouldn t have freedom. The reason why these people who believe that
the sons of liberty are wrong are fanatics are wrong Were the sons of liberty heroes or were they

Disney Springs At Jock Lindsey
Yesterday evening we went over to Disney Springs for dinner at Jock Lindsey s, but first we wanted to
swing by the new Ganachery Chocolate Shoppe that had just opened a couple days before. We love
good chocolate, so we had high hopes for this newest addition to the list of high end foodie shops at
Walt Disney World. The Ganachery did not disappoint! For most people, unless you know of some
little artisan confectionery, the best chocolates you can get your hands on are Godiva. There is an
excitement and ritual to opening that gleaming golden box and breathing in that smell. Amplify the
smell, the taste, the creaminess by 10 fold; THEN you have the Ganachery chocolates!
You can find the shop kitty corner from Jock Lindsey s, just past the turn off for Raglan Road. When
we arrived there was only another couple in line ahead of us and we were allowed inside after only a
minute or two. They were limiting the number of people who could shop at one time because the
footprint of the floor is incredibly tiny. If I recall they only wanted 7 or 8 customers to be inside at one
time. I didn t feel that the short wait was too much to ask, even though some people stomped off after
only being in line 30 seconds or so. They were offering free sea salt caramel samples while we waited
so who was I to complain!?
When I first walked in the first thing that I noticed was the lighting... it s terrible for taking photos, lol,
so let me apologize right now for the terrible quality of some of

How Does Sean Penn Use Film Techniques In Into The Wild
Thoreau once said Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves following this Chris
Mccandless adventures off into the wild on a journey to discover himself without being surrounded by
a materialistic society or his family. Sean Penn delicately crafted cinematography in the film into the
wild makes use of .... to show the challenges of family relationships, the power of words and self
discovery. This is shown through the use of many different filming techniques to emphasise a certain
theme.
The director uses voice overs and cinematography perceptively to emphasise the challenges of family
relationships. In the film before Chris and his sister Carnie go to the lunch with his parents he reads
her a poem She s the wrong woman, he s the wrong man. You are going to do bad things to children,

In the film there are many examples of where Penn has shown the power of words but one of the main
examples shown throughout the movie is when his younger sister Carnie does voice overs in the film.
One of the main examples of this is when she said this Chris measured himself and those around him
by a fiercely rigorous moral code. He risked what could have been a relentless lonely path but found
comfort in the character of book he loved... he could summon their words to suit any occasion, and he
would often. This displays that Chris can strongly relate to many of his favourite authors, who have
been able to capture Chris s emotions, thought and feelings in their words. An establishing shot that
also symbolises the power of words, would be when the shot of Chris is just walked into the wild of
Alaska in the opening scene. This establishing shot creates the idea of loneliness, isolation and shows
the purity in nature as he walks into the wildness. These show us how our words can impact others in
both a negative and positive

The Importance Of Expensing R D Expenditure
Some accounting committees and countries prefer expensing the R D expenditure to capitalization,
they concern about the conservatism rule, future economic benefit uncertainty and avoiding profit
manipulated of R D expenditure. However, expensing R D expenditure also cannot perfectly deal with
these problems as they expected. As the rapidly development of technology, especially in high tech
industry, intangible asset take up large number of the overall assets, whether the firm is successful or
not largely relay on these intangible assets, therefore, simple expensing all R D expenditure is
apparently inaccurate. One of the most important factors of expensing R D expenditure is the
uncertainty of R D. The Australian accounting profession s SAC 4 (1992) refers assets as future
economic benefits, which controlled by the entity as result of past transactions or other past events.
And the asset should be recorded in the statement of financial position when the expenditure of the
asset can be measured reliably and the future economic benefit generates from the asset is highly
likely backflow to the company. However, it is impossible of a company to accurately measure how
possibility of a firm can have future economic benefit generated by the asset. Moreover, the loose
concept of control of an asset that is the capacity of the entity to benefit from the asset in the pursuit of
the entity s objectives and to deny or regulate the access of others to that benefit. (Walker and

Medicine In Muslim World Essay
Medicine in the Muslim World and the Americas, 700 1500
Medicine was an important part of the Muslim world; both rich and poor people were interested in
health and diseases. In fact, one of the greatest contributions to the Muslim world to modern medicine
is the preservation of many of the original works of philosophers, poets and physicians. Subsequently,
Muslim doctor and scholars wrote about health and developed an extensive complex medical
literature. Unlike medical literature today, which is specialized, but in the medieval world
amalgamated amongst natural science, astrology, alchemy, religion, philosophy and mathematics are
medical literature (Nordqvist, 2012).

William Shakespeare s Henry Iv
Throughout the play Henry IV part 1, Shakespeare was able to depict the concept of honor through
many different individuals. Three main characters that Shakespeare choose to display the concept of
honor are Prince Hal, Hotspur and Falstaff. However, each of these characters interpret the word
honor differently. Hotspur has an obsession with honor and believes it s one of the most important
roles a leader has to show. He relates honor to the duties that he serves on the battlefield and
repetition. While Falstaff believes that honor is a word that only stays with people who have died,
therefore he finds no importance in seeking honor. Prince Hal was able to find a balance between the
two which allowed him to show key features in a leader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, he has defeated Archibald and taken prisoners which included few with high political
status.Including Mordake, Earl of Fife, and the leader of Archibald s eldest son. King Henry then
begins to express how impressed he is of Hotspurs achievements. In envy that my Lord
Northumberland should be the father to so blest son: A son who is the theme of honor s tongue. Within
this statement the King is implying that Hotspurs father (Northumberland) is blessed to have such a
successful and fearless son, and that he is a perfect example of a man with honor. This truly shapes the
concept of honor that Hotspur takes on through the rest of the play. Since he has now been so honored
by the King for his bloodthirsty acts on the battlefield Hotspur nearly became brainwashed and
allowed his words to shape his every thought. He then made a plan to ransom Mortimer. In which the
King soon refused to do. Hotspur viewed this as a dishonorable action of the King so he then seeked
out to overthrow the King with Northumberland and Worcester to regain the honor that was lost
through the Kings mistreatment to him. This shows that Hotspur believes he will gain honor by
fighting in battles, and even if he dies he still would die with great honor. Hotspur goes on to say To
pluck bright honor from the pale faced moon, or dive into the bottom of the deep. This projects how
far Hotspur is

Education Reform In The United States
Is school reform hopeless in our states and cities? In my opinion, education reform is useless due to a
variety of occurrences going on in the world that nobody is focused on and changing these schools to
make them more efficient for all students. An example of this is the government not caring at all about
how most of these schools are lacking in money and in need of help to be able to acquire the best
education. Many schools in the world are so poor and struggling that students are forced to drop out
and eventually end up getting into gangs leading to violence and drugs all over the streets. Not only
are these some of our most significant leading problems, but we also see the amount of discrimination
between the schools. There are cases ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This thing is money. Money was used for buying things that benefit us and helps us in any way.
Schools all around the world have a necessity for supplies, better equipment for classes or food for
lunchrooms. To acquire this, we need money, which most schools don t have. Poor schools are in
desperate need of these things to try to provide a much more efficient education for their students.
Schools will turn to the aid of the government in the hope of getting money for the school. In most
cases, you would think that the government would help out the poorest schools, but that s not the case.
In savage Inequalities schools along with many desperate families are asking for the assistance of their
board of education as well as the government for help with schools lacking in many supplies and the
environment their living. Rather than receiving the help they need the government helps out the richer
schools more than the schools that need the help. Why is it that the poor schools in the South Side of
Chicago don t get help from the government, but the richest schools do. This shows us how ethnicity
plays a role in our society. Many of the wealthy schools mainly have white students who attend the
schools, while in poor schools are mainly populated by Hispanic students and African American
students. That s

Many families get detained, as a society we have put ourselves in immigrants shoes and take in
consideration their perceiving lenses. A lot of families take great measures to come to the united states
for a better future and sometimes it does not occur because of being detained. To further add there is
other scholars that have a different view point on detention centers for immigrants. In the article From
Bare Life to bureaucratic capitalism: analyzing the growth of the immigration detention industry as a
complex organization by Matthew Flynn states
Although it remains very much a contested issue, many observers have concluded that deterrence
policies and tactics employed by wealthy, advanced capitalist states of the West will not over the long
term curtail efforts by migrants and asylum seekers to make perilous journeys across international
borders in search of safe havens and better living conditions (Sampson 2015).
The article shows that not all scholars think alike. The author is stating that even though there a lot of
focus on the detention process against immigrants that will not stop people s effort to migrate in
search of a prosperous

This recession hits home with the automobile industry. During this current recession GM is facing the
possibility of bankruptcy, but is hoping to be helped out by the government. History I. Analysis of
External Environment a. Analysis of the General Environment One driving force of change is
technology. The automobile industry is constantly focusing on technology in order to make themselves
and their cars better. They constantly compete to be the first one to have the newest and best idea. One
of these ideas is an electric vehicle. GM, Ford, and Toyota all have electric automobiles. GM has the
Chevy Volt. Volt One of Ford s electric cars is the Electric Ranger. Ranger Toyota had the Rav4 EV,
but due to discouraging sales it stopped production. Toyota remains committed to developing an Eco
Vehicle, one that will have a minimal impact on the environment. Rav4 One purpose of the electric
automobiles is to have the ability to drive to work using only electricity. Currently during longer trips
you would have to use a combination of electric and gasoline power. Electric Car Another area of
technology that the automobile industry is working on is fuel cells. Even though it is predicted that
automobiles using fuel cells will not be released until 2010, Fuel Cell Vehicles (FCV), may be the next
revolutionary idea in automobiles. FCVs reflect a completely new way of thinking about automobiles.

Atmospheric Cues in Retail Stores
Atmospheric Cues in Retail Stores: Their Effect on the Consumer s Hedonic Retail Experience
Introduction Retailers are finding it more and more difficult to differentiate themselves from their
competition, specifically based on the four Ps of marketing; product, place, price and promotion. They
have been forced to inquire about diverse and distinctive atmospheric cues, in order to attract and
maintain customers and their loyalty. According to (Morrison, 2001), elements such as colour,

Relating to this, a study showed that customers spent considerably less time in stores with loud music
compared to soft. Relating to restaurants, diners stayed longer and consumed more alcoholic
beverages when slow tempo music was playing in the background compared to fast tempo. (Alpert,
Judy and Alpert, Mark, 1989). Of course this depends on the type of stores people are shopping at, this
may be true for superstores, but stores like Nike acquire a different type of customer and are in need of
a different type of atmosphere, which is explained in the following paragraph. Also if a restaurant
were targeted more towards a younger crowd, then a more upbeat genre of music would be
appropriate in order to influence the customers to stay longer and buy more alcoholic beverages. A
study was done through face to face interviews and in store observation with sales associates and
managers, and out of store with shoppers. This study was completed to provide greater insight about
the relation between music and retail branding (Morrison, 2001). The first was NikeTown: the music
in the store was high on energy, vibrant, proactive and uplifting, obviously creating a boost in store
environment and attracting younger urban customers. The current music is friendlier and more inviting
compared to the old tennis ball bouncing or birds chirping. This audio atmosphere differentiates Nike
from competitors and supports the brand. In fact interest from customers has led to the need

PECS can also be initiated by the test subject, as Frost and Bondy (2002) recommend that training can continue as long as a student is initiating the interaction. Observation of behavior will be for the entire 6 hour day to measure the effects of the treatment. A parental survey will be given at the onset of treatment and at the end of the 6th week. There is a wide range of ways to study films of various genres. We focus on film language, genre, mise en scene, representation, stereotypes, etc. In Black Girl, it was depicted as an allegory and had a lot of mise en scene. Some examples of mise en scene in Black Girl includes the mask, clothing and objects in the Dakar and France homes. The mask is a very powerful symbol because it represents Diouana. The foreign government of France controlling Senegal is similar to the French couple deciding everything for Diouana. An example is when the French couple receives a letter from Diouana s mother and responds to the letter by writing what they want. The French couple holds a dominant position in the household and does not allow Diouana to voice her opinion. At first, Diouana was excited to go to France with the French couple because she imagined how her life would change, but she was fooled. Diouana misunderstood that she would continue to care for the children, but she was treated like a slave. It is like Diouana fell for the trap because she had to do labor on a daily basis. Diouana had a low social status, accused of many things and treated poorly. After a while, Diouana could not stand being mistreated all the time which ultimately led to her committing suicide. The reason God created the world was to be generous, not because someone told him. God is the almighty power so God is not told what to do, He chooses what he does. Saint Anselm through his story Cur Deus Homo and Dante through his story Divine Comedy talk about the incarnation of Christ to show the almighty power that God holds. God makes all his decisions for the benefit of the people and does what He feels is best for them. The samples went from a powdery white to a clear liquid. Urea is a little bit higher than from its melting point range of 132°C 133°C and trans cinnamic acid is in its melting point range of 132°C 135°C. They are both pure compounds because they stayed relatively close to their melting point ranges. The 50/50 mixture has a lower melting point and a broader melting point range because each compound acts as an impurity in the other. The results in Table 2 from part 2 of the experiment have higher melting points than their supposed melting point range. The samples went from a powdery white to a clear liquid. The unknown 8 compound was guessed to be maleic acid since its melting point was in the range 137°C 140°C. For the final trial, however, both unknown 8 and maleic acid had higher melting points out of the range and the 50/50 mixture melted first. • 15. Comparing Pascal s Wager In Catholicism And The Christian God Pascal s Wager is often considered one of philosophies weakest religious arguments to date. Pascal invents a wager to persuade the one who questions God into attending church, following the Ten Commandments, and following any other traditions in the Catholic Church. The wager is, if a person is a believer and after departing from this earth they find that they are correct, then their rewards are infinite. They will receive eternal life and a relationship with God in heaven. On the other hand if a person is a non believer and after death they find that they are incorrect, then their loss is infinite. Meaning they have the possibility of eternal damnation and separation from God. There are another two possibilities, in which God does not exist and the believer is incorrect and the non believer is correct. Both of these scenarios have finite rewards or finite losses. Depending on matter of opinion, one could say that a life doing good works and being part of a community is a reward in itself whether or not God actually exists but to someone else it could be a restriction or a loss of freedom. None the less, if God turns out to not exist the atheist and the theist would only have finite consequences. Pascal s Wager is rooted in Catholicism and the Christian God. By 1915 Gein s mother had decided to move the family to a farm in Plainfield Wisconsin and only let him go out in order to go to school. Due to this, the main influence in his life was his mother. Once his mother died in 1945 Gein s obsessive attachment to her and her teachings would end up making him one of the most heinous and notorious killers in American history. • 19. Genetic Engineering And Human Engineering Genetic engineering is a highly debated topic across the world right now as countries are split for and against genetically altering crops and livestock. The simple definition for genetic engineering according to CSIRO is The use of modern biotechnology techniques to change genes of an organism, such as plant or animal. (CSIRO, 2007) The techniques or steps to genetic engineering are quite technical. The first stage of genetic engineering is to isolate the DNA from the organism. Once the DNA strand is separated it is cut by a restricting enzyme. The restricting enzymes snips the DNA into a smaller code usually between the G and C nucleotides. The restriction enzyme also leaves a unique sticky substance on the end of each new strand. The next step is too place the newly cut fragments inside a plasmid. A plasmid can be defined as A linear or circular double stranded DNA that is capable of replicating independently of the chromosomal DNA. (Biology Online, 2009) this means in order for the new strands of DNA to be accepted by the cell it must be fixed inside a plasmid. The same restricting enzyme is used on the plasmid. This allows the DNA strand and plasmid to stick and join together. Once joined the phosphodiester bonds are formed by the DNA ligase on either edge of the strand. Transformation is the next stage as the newly formed plasmids are taken in by the host bacterial cells. The cells are now a DNA library and can be administered to the required organism. In a ... • 21. Medical Ethics Of The Doctor Patient Relationship You may not control life s circumstances, but getting to be the author of your life means getting to control what you do with them (Atul Gawande). This quote, from renowned surgeon and essayist, Atul Gawande, expresses an important idea in medical ethics: patients possess a certain level of autonomy in the doctor patient relationship, and this autonomy needs to be respected by medical professionals. Ethically speaking, physicians owe their patients full disclosure about their diagnoses, treatment options, and any potential medical risks. Patients have the inherent right to know all aspects of their illness or malady, and it is not up to physicians to decide which information should be withheld from patients. Withholding information from patients breaks down any trust that may have existed within the physician patient relationship, and thus leads to an overall patient dissatisfaction towards the healthcare system. In any patient physician relationship, one of the most essential components is the element of trust. One patient remarks on the importance of trust by saying, We trust them not to use that expertise to exploit our vulnerability for their own interests...and we trust them to empower and enable us to place their recommendations into the full context of our own hierarchy of values (Pellegrino, Thomasma 1993). • 26. Sexting Child Pornography Some people believe that sexting should not be criminalized or treated as distribution of child pornography . After researching, sexting has seemed less and less harmful. Sexting is seen as an act or discretion only done by kids, but that isn t always the case, so why have the same punishment for an adult as you would have for a minor, when minors are not given the same rights as adults. The sentencing for sexting or distribution of child pornography should become circumstantial. Sexting is not always harmful and should be seen as the act of a criminal. Sexting among teens should not be criminalized. Current child pornography laws are designed to protect children, but when applied to sexting and teens, it subjects youths to potential felony charges, which can ruin their lives by labeling them as sex offenders and confusing them with adults convicted of heinous sex crimes against minors. (American Civil Liberties Unions). As a child or an adult, being labeled as a sex offender can ruin the person s life and can limit them on many things later in life. Sex offenders have certain guidelines that they have to follow such as; a sex offender can not live near any school and a sex offender must register each year as a sex offender, they can not join any form of military, and before moving into any neighborhood they must go to each person s house and notify the person that they are a state registered sex offender.Existing criminal laws, that carry the potential for a felony conviction and sex offender restrictions, are not meant to address teen sexting. Under the existing laws and their extensive punitive effects, these teens will be stripped of a future as their education and work prospects will be bleak. Teens should become exempt from these charges or misdemeanors, on the bases that they are only kids and still minors. Teens should be educated about responsible behavior when it comes to media. Homer in both his most famous works the Iliad and The Odyssey weaves poetry based on centuries worth of oral stories handed down and uses a sophisticated style of writing that is still recognized today. Homer portrayed Achilles as arrogant because he allowed his men to fight a battle he knew they could not win without him. Achilles asked his mother for Zeus to favor the Trojans so that he could regain the honor that he felt Agamemnon stripped away. Aeneas s tragic flaw unlike Achilles was his sense of duty, which in turn he encountered pitfalls during his escape from Troy. Achilles battled for personal glory and his own honor as a warrior whereas Aeneas spent his time attempting to fulfill his mission, which forced him to invade and conquer, a duty given to him by the gods. Virgil unites and conjoins all the virtues in the formation of his hero: He gives him religion towards the gods, piety towards his country, tenderness and friendship towards his relations, and equity and justice towards all (Rapin). On the contrary, Homer magnified the tragic flaw in Achilles, which cost him his sanity because he became obsessive with revenge. Although Aeneas s flaw appears minor in comparison to Achilles, it led him to be an instrument of gods, which in turn destroyed innocent lives. Cardioversion Usually performed electively, cardioversions are procedures that are performed to convert an arrhythmia back to sinus rhythm.. There are two types of cardioversions; pharmacological and electrical. Pharmacological cardioversions are performed via administering arrhythmia medication to patients to restore the heart s rhythm to normal sinus rhythm. Pharmacological cardioversions were the standard cardioversion procedures performed before electrical cardioversion became more commonly used. Advantages of pharmacological cardioversions are such that the procedure does not require sedation, (whereas electrical cardioversion does), and the development of new drugs has made it more of a popular ... Surgical Ablation Cox Maze Procedure James Cox, along with his colleagues, developed the Cox Maze procedure, (also known as the Maze procedure) which is an open heart surgical procedure designed to eliminate AF. The procedure consists of creating conduction barriers within the RA and LA, thus limiting the number of wavelets able to propagate themselves within the atrial myocardium, thus eliminating AF. A five year follow up study was conducted to assess whether the Cox Maze procedure was a viable treatment option for AF patients. The sample size consisted of 75 patients who had undergone the maze procedure for the treatment of AF. At the end of the five years, 65 patients had been followed up for three months post procedure. The end result was that the Maze procedure was successful in treating AF in 98% (n = 64) of the 65 patients followed up. It was also successful in treating AF without the need for medication in 89% (n = 58), and with the need for medication in 9% (n = 6) of the total cohort respectively. This therefore proves that the Cox maze procedure is an effective treatment method for AF patients (Cox JL et al; 1993). 2.5.1.3. Also what made the sons of liberty mad too is that the british would have officers go into homes without permission, which was invading privacy. The reason why some people believe this is because the sons of liberty did some stuff back then that would not be acceptable such as, incited riots, the tea party, tarring and feathering tax collectors, taking furniture from tax collectors and burning down their homes, smuggling, recruiting thugs, refused to pay tax´s and manipulated and intimidated the british. People who believe that the sons of liberty were fanatics do have points. Getting tarred is painful enough, then getting feathered just sucks. Then there is worse, you can lose all your stuff that matters to you like your home and furniture being on fire because people are mad at you for doing your job. Disney Springs At Jock Lindsey Yesterday evening we went over to Disney Springs for dinner at Jock Lindsey s, but first we wanted to swing by the new Ganachery Chocolate Shoppe that had just opened a couple days before. We love good chocolate, so we had high hopes for this newest addition to the list of high end foodie shops at Walt Disney World. The Ganachery did not disappoint! For most people, unless you know of some little artisan confectionery, the best chocolates you can get your hands on are Godiva. There is an excitement and ritual to opening that gleaming golden box and breathing in that smell. Amplify the smell, the taste, the creaminess by 10 fold; THEN you have the Ganachery chocolates! You can find the shop kitty corner from Jock Lindsey s, just past the turn off for Raglan Road. When we arrived there was only another couple in line ahead of us and we were allowed inside after only a minute or two. They were limiting the number of people who could shop at one time because the footprint of the floor is incredibly tiny. If I recall they only wanted 7 or 8 customers to be inside at one time. I didn t feel that the short wait was too much to ask, even though some people stomped off after only being in line 30 seconds or so. The Importance Of Expensing R D Expenditure Some accounting committees and countries prefer expensing the R D expenditure to capitalization, they concern about the conservatism rule, future economic benefit uncertainty and avoiding profit manipulated of R D expenditure. However, expensing R D expenditure also cannot perfectly deal with these problems as they expected. As the rapidly development of technology, especially in high tech industry, intangible asset take up large number of the overall assets, whether the firm is successful or not largely relay on these intangible assets, therefore, simple expensing all R D expenditure is apparently inaccurate. One of the most important factors of expensing R D expenditure is the uncertainty of R D. The Australian accounting profession s SAC 4 (1992) refers assets as future economic benefits, which controlled by the entity as result of past transactions or other past events. And the asset should be recorded in the statement of financial position when the expenditure of the asset can be measured reliably and the future economic benefit generates from the asset is highly likely backflow to the company. However, it is impossible of a company to accurately measure how possibility of a firm can have future economic benefit generated by the asset. Three main characters that Shakespeare choose to display the concept of honor are Prince Hal, Hotspur and Falstaff. However, each of these characters interpret the word honor differently. Hotspur has an obsession with honor and believes it s one of the most important roles a leader has to show. He relates honor to the duties that he serves on the battlefield and repetition. Within this statement the King is implying that Hotspurs father (Northumberland) is blessed to have such a successful and fearless son, and that he is a perfect example of a man with honor. This truly shapes the concept of honor that Hotspur takes on through the rest of the play. Since he has now been so honored by the King for his bloodthirsty acts on the battlefield Hotspur nearly became brainwashed and allowed his words to shape his every thought. He then made a plan to ransom Mortimer. In which the King soon refused to do. Hotspur viewed this as a dishonorable action of the King so he then seeked out to overthrow the King with Northumberland and Worcester to regain the honor that was lost through the Kings mistreatment to him. This shows that Hotspur believes he will gain honor by fighting in battles, and even if he dies he still would die with great honor. Relating to restaurants, diners stayed longer and consumed more alcoholic beverages when slow tempo music was playing in the background compared to fast tempo. (Alpert, Judy and Alpert, Mark, 1989). Of course this depends on the type of stores people are shopping at, this may be true for superstores, but stores like Nike acquire a different type of customer and are in need of a different type of atmosphere, which is explained in the following paragraph. Also if a restaurant were targeted more towards a younger crowd, then a more upbeat genre of music would be appropriate in order to influence the customers to stay longer and buy more alcoholic beverages. A study was done through face to face interviews and in store observation with sales associates and managers, and out of store with shoppers.
