The Big Role Of The Nine Muses In Greek Mythology
The Muses in many ways played a big role in Greek Mythology. There were nine Muses, who were all
sisters. In addition to their beauty, they are very powerful and competitive. The Muses the gods of
music, songs, dance, and an inspiration to poets all around the world. Each of the nine Muses were
given their own special gifts.
The Muses were the daughters of extremely powerful gods. The Muses father was Zeus, who is the
king of gods. The mother of the nine Muses was Mnemosyne, who is the goddess of memory. The
Muses were all born at the same place in Ancient Greece. They were born at the foot of Mount
Olympus. After they were born they lived with Apollo, who is the goddess of music, poetry, art,
oracles, and many more. They lived in a house on Mount Helicon in Central Greece. They were an
extremely powerful group, with inspiring jobs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Playing A Sport Is Tough Enough As It Is, Things Such As
Playing a sport is tough enough as it is, things such as training, potential for injuries, mental
preparation and making sure the team reaches their full potential are all factors. Now, imagine not
feeling like a part of that team because of the person you want to love. I was fortunate enough to be
able to get a first hand look into what being a gay athlete is like. My ex teammate and friend Ryan
Houchen, great athlete, even better person. Ryan himself is a homosexual athlete, he played hockey
for Metro State as well as the University of Colorado Denver. He, as well as others, are seeing that
more and more gay athletes are emerging and as Ryan says, Things are definitely on the up . What he

These are shocking statistic really, when asking Ryan about his comfort level with his team he said, It
was okay, I never felt physically threatened... . He did say however, that he did never feel quite like a
part of the team due to his sexuality. Another aspect of homophobia affecting gays in sports is the
homophobic slurs used in the locker room and on the field, granted, Ryan said that even in day to day
life he never felt harmed or hurt by homophobic slurs. However, it is still a major problem in sports.
89 percent of homosexuals heard or felt targeted by homosexual slurs, according to the study. In my
interview with Ryan I asked him if the culture of the locker room needed to be the first thing to
change, he said Absolutely, sometimes it has to start from within a team and then that positive and
encouraging attitude can go on to others.
In my interview with Ryan, he said he never felt targeted but he did hint at the fact that at times the
slurs could be excessive, he aimed responsibility of the needed culture change on the coaching staff.
He spoke about the coaches on one of the teams he played for previously, who used slurs towards the
opposing team, Kinda shocked me, but I recognized it was a motivating factor . Coaches in the sports
are ones who need to step up to the plate and make the world of sports more comforting and help
homosexuals feel less threatened. Most coaches have or at

rock is formed by regional metamorphism takes place when the materials and substances are deep

Arguments Against Egalitarianism
In this essay, I will explain the view of prioritarianism as an alternative to egalitarianism, as it avoids
the main problem facing egalitarianism. Albeit that prioritarianism withstands this problem, it brings
with it more problems than it solves, so I will then refute prioritarianism and suggest we instead move
to sufficientarianism. In Derek Parfit s Equality and Priority (1997) he introduces the idea of
prioritarianism as an alternative to egalitarianism, this is to avoid the levelling down objection that
egalitarianism faces. Egalitarianism claims that there is intrinsic moral value in some sort of equality,
be it justice, opportunity, resources etc. (Arneson, 2013). The levelling down objection claims that
there can be a case where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prioritarianism claims that people who are worse off should be given moral priority over those who
are better off (Parfit, 1997, p. 213). If we imagine a society where there are rich people and very rich
people, and another society where there are very poor people and poor people, and getting people
from very poor to poor gives the same increase in utility as going from rich to very rich. Then,
according to egalitarianism, getting people from rich to very rich would be just as good as getting
people from very poor to poor. Prioritarianism, however, claims that getting people from very poor to
poor matters more because they are worse off, even though the total increase in utility would be the
same as getting the rich people to very rich. The prioritarian claim is not one of aiming to reduce
equality, as if there was just one person in the world who is worse off, and no one else exists, we
would be just be obliged to give him just as much benefit as we would a world where there are also
other people who were better off. Benefiting those who are worse off is not relative to those who are
better off, it is an absolute (Parfit, 1997). Prioritarianism avoids the levelling down objection because
if we imagine the case where there are very rich people and very poor people, as we are not aiming for
equality, making the very rich very poor would bring no good. A prioritarian would only be motivated
to benefit the very poor as they re the ones who are worse off (Parfit, 1997). This is more in line with
moral intuitions, making prioritarianism a more attractive view than

cognitive distortion that I have had in the past week is should statements (Burns, 1980). All of a

It felt nice to actually be able to put words and names to the ways that I think when I am feeling
stressed and negative, as well as names to describe my coping methods. It was also nice to realize I
had some specific and easily identifiable coping methods in general. I think that learning the names
for these things and realizing they are common will help me to more actively identify when these kind
of recursive negative should thoughts are happening, and allow me to begin using my coping methods
more consciously and actively than I have been prior to this exercise. 2. Complete the activities in Ch.

difficulty, over the past two weeks my assistantship went from well managed and stress free to
incredibly stressful, as new deadlines have come up out of the blue as well as have some significant

The Success Of The Company Braun And Sony Two Companies...
To change the way a nation perceives an idea is remarkable. To change the worlds idea of how one
would accomplish a task is a feat only relatable to the end of a war. But to change a product line
forever, to change the way a certain product was produced, to change how people went about
designing this product, interacting with this product, thinking of this product, now that s a whole new
world. Very few designers have the privilege to say that they have achieved this, an accomplishment
that designers dream of. The companies Braun and Sony are two companies with the same goal.
Through their philosophies they have helped change the way people think about products. The Sk4
record player (figure 1) produced in 1956 from Braun and the Sony Walkman (figure 2) made in 1979
were two products that achieved this feat. They were two products that were conceived in two very
different ways, two products for very different markets, but two products with the same ideas, wants
and needs as each other. Both the Sk4 and Sony Walkman have large focuses on space they were both
designed with the user at the very forefront of the designers minds. The Sk4 was designed with
disregard for fashion, completely opposite to the Walkmans design philosophy yet they have had
similar effects on the world and Both Sony and Braun have created similar products although they
were made 22 years apart.
The Sk4 was designed by Dieter Rams In Frankfurt, Germany for the company Braun who had the
goal to change

Anger In The Fault In Our Stars
A well known proverb in Italy is anger can be an expensive luxury. There are many ways to express
anger, these can be positive or negative and can result in money being spent, lives being saved or lost,
and relationships changing for better or worse. This proverb can be proven though people such as
Gandhi, many historical events like The riots in Ferguson and a local shooting, and it can be shown in
literature such as The Fault in our Stars.
Gandhi was the type of person who would not kill or injury anyone. The citizens of India were
changing the country into a violent place. During the Salt March of 1930 Gandhi said, My ambition is
no less than to convert the British people through non violence and thus make them see the wrong

Three Basic Job Evaluation Methods
Job Evaluation Methods
There are three basic methods of job evaluation: (1) ranking, (2) classification, (3) factor comparison.
While many variations of these methods exist in practice, the three basic approaches are described
here.
Ranking Method
Perhaps the simplest method of job evaluation is the ranking method. According to this method, jobs
are arranged from highest to lowest, in order of their value or merit to the organization. Jobs also can
be arranged according to the relative difficulty in performing them. The jobs are examined as a whole
rather than on the basis of important factors in the job; and the job at the top of the list has the highest
value and obviously the job at the bottom of the list will have the lowest ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Pay will be assigned in this method by comparing the weights of the factors required for each job, i.e.,
the present wages paid for key jobs may be divided among the factors weighed by importance (the
most important factor, for instance, mental effort, receives the highest weight). In other words, wages
are assigned to the job in comparison to its ranking on each job factor.
The steps involved in factor comparison method may be briefly stated thus:
Select key jobs (say 15 to 20), representing wage/salary levels across the organization. The selected
jobs must represent as many departments as possible.
Find the factors in terms of which the jobs are evaluated (such as skill, mental effort, responsibility,
physical effort, working conditions, etc.).
Rank the selected jobs under each factor (by each and every member of the job evaluation committee)
independently.
Assign money value to each factor and determine the wage rates for each key job.
The wage rate for a job is apportioned along the identified factors.
All other jobs are compared with the list of key jobs and wage rates are determined.
An example of how the factor comparison method works is given below:
Table: Merits and Demerits of Factor Comparison Method
Merits
Demerits
Analytical and objective.
Reliable and valid as each job is

Human Intelligence Operations Targeted Against Hamas Essay
For hundreds of years human intelligence operations have been conducted. Nation states have always
had a desire and a need to know what friendly and unfriendly countries are doing. For national
security purposes knowledge is power. Human intelligence collection has changed throughout history
and is different depending on who is conducting it. International laws, brokered agreements, internal
laws and policies dictate how human intelligence is collected. By looking at a known adversary, one
can apply a human intelligence mission in order to defeat or negate the enemies actions. No region is
more suitable for human intelligence missions than Israel and the occupied territories of Palestine.

From the beginning, Muslims have always been unhappy with the presence of Israel in Muslim land ,
specifically Palestine. This conflict is the main reason why Hamas was created and why they are so
popular in the Middle East. Hamas officially published its charter or The Covenant of the Islamic
Resistance Movement on August 18, 1988. Hamas is a Palestinian nationalistic and Islamic
fundamentalist organization. The charter spells out the organizations objectives, goals, and end state
and has been unchanged to this day. The charter calls upon Islamic jihad in order to take back the land
of Palestine that was stolen by Israel. The charter also states the goals of establishing an Islamic
Palestinian state in the West Bank and The Gaza Strip, the total destruction of Israel, the return of all
Palestinian refugees back to Israel and East Jerusalem, and East Jerusalem be recognized as the
Palestinian capital. When Hamas published its charter, it created a rift between the Muslim
Brotherhood. Even though Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood remained linked by there pro Islamic
ideology, the Muslim Brotherhood was considered a non violent organization. Hamas on the other
hand made no qualms about a violent jihad against Israel.
Countries like Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Jordan, Egypt and Saudia Arabia have all supported Hamas in one
way or another. Syria allows Hamas leadership and Hamas headquarters to be

Analysis Of The Movie Iceman The Neanderthal
Neanderthal Prejudice
Elizabeth Armistead When humans encounter other humans, we tend to treat them differently.
Whether it s because of cultural barriers, language barriers, or something as trivial as skin color, we
view some people differently than we view those who share our ethnicity, culture, and values. This is
referred to as racism or prejudice and it is still an active problem in the world today. But although
people can differ greatly when it comes to culture or appearance, we share most of our genes. Our
closest related (and now extinct) ancestor, the Neanderthal, can be viewed in similar terms. Their
culture differed from ours now as modern humans, but surprisingly the genomes of humans and
Neanderthals are 99.84% identical (Gibbons). However, based on our history of bias, if Neanderthals
were alive today, we would no doubt treat them differently, if not inferior, to modern humans.
In the movie Iceman the Neanderthal, Charlie, was caged in a room that resembled a natural terrain
while he was subject to the studies that were performed on him including the monitoring of his speech
patterns. But in this movie, he was portrayed as very human like and had multiple interactions with
Dr. Shephard, an anthropologist who also became his friend. Dr. Shephard and Dr. Brady represented
the two angles from which treatment of a Neanderthal in today s world could be perceived. Dr.
Shephard, who is a scientist, was very interested in the behaviors of Charlie. But he was more

We believe all companies have weakness, but in reviewing the case we are having a hard time
identifying these weaknesses. Market opportunities exist with continuing to promote the company at
boat shows and bidding on demands from the military and law agency. Another marketing opportunity
is using with exist resources to focus on a new innovation for small scale terrorist operations, a
significant new area in naval warfare and the Army s planned replacement for bridge erection boats.
We agree that McCarty external threats are the stagnant economy and existing rivals. McCarty must be
careful with decision to expand with the current slow pace of economic recovery. McCarty never had
to lay off employees before and wanted to keep this trend. Existing rivals expansion may nibble at
McCarty s current clients depending on McCarty s strategic decisions.
5. What is your assessment of Silver Ship s financial performance and condition? Is the company in
good financial shape? Why or why not. Use financial rations to help support your assessment.
Silver Ships is in a mediocre financial condition as of 2009. From 2006 to 2009 Silver Ships increased

The Puppy Mill, By Oprah Winfrey
Imagine what life would be like living in a cage. Imagine being enclosed in a space that barely clears
6 inches of room in either direction, not allowing any area to stretch out, sit, or even sleep
comfortably. Imagine not being able to shower, or feel the underfoot sensation of soft wisps of grass,
or embrace the comfort of a bed. Now, imagine living like that for an entire decade. For dogs raised in
puppy mills, imagination is not necessary to experience these conditions. As proven through Oprah
Winfrey s special exposé of puppy mills, the aforementioned depictions are nothing but factual about
the conditions of the puppy mills inspected in the nationally broadcasted episode, as well as the
standards that the 10,000 other puppy mills in the United States run on (Oprah Investigates). The
puppy mill problem has universally been established as a horrid, unethical way of supplying animals
to the pet buyers of the world, but the problem is never solved. While the government can write down
law after law of standards for ethical animal treatment, nothing will change because it is so loosely
enforced, as many other issues take priority over inspecting the millions of pet breeders producing in
America. Instead, this issue can be taken into the hands of the caring individuals who make up the
population of pet consumers in America. Since 99% of pet store puppies are actually supplied by
puppy mills, any business that is given to pet stores will, in turn, support the puppy mill

Remembering the Harlem Renaissance
During the early 1920 s, African American artists, writers, musicians, and performers took part in a
cultural movement known as the Harlem Renaissance. This migration took place after World War 1
and brought African Americans of all ages to the city of Harlem located in New York (Holt). There
were many inspiring young artists; one of them in particular was Augusta Savage.
Augusta Savage was born on February 29, 1892, in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Savage began
making art at an early age using clay that she could find. She enjoyed making animals and other small
objects yet her father, who was a Methodist minister, did not approve of her hobby. He did all that he
could to stop her. Savage once said her father almost whipped all of the art out of me (Savage). Even
though her father objected her hobby, she continued to make sculptures. The family moved to West
Palm Beach, Florida in 1915. After this move Savage faced a new problem, a lack of clay. She
eventually found some clay from a local potter and created a few figures that she entered in a county
fair. Her work received a winning prize and the support of George Graham, the fair s organizer, who
encouraged her to study art. Savaged moved to New York City in the 1920 s, but struggled financially
throughout her life. She studied at the Cooper Union and she received a scholarship after her first year
to help with living expenses. She exceled at the Union and finished in three years instead of the usual
four. Savage learned

Comparing Magic In The Eye Of The World And The Magician
Magic or unexplained science, some would say, is the human brain s way of understanding what
appears impossible. Magic is also a way one can feel special because magic allows things to appear
out of thin air or happen instantly and everyone wishes this were true. Everyone person who has an
encounter with magic, deals with magic in different ways, yet there can be similarities. Similarities
can be seen in the novels, The Magicians by Lev Grossman, The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan,
and The Magician by Raymond E. Feist. Each novel has a main character who becomes deeply
involved with magic, but with different end games. When dealing with magic, one must learn the
significance of it which in turn helps the wielder of magic or reader feel as if the impossible has
become possible.

Analysis Of The Inner Stillness Of Eileen Kramer
The Archibald prize is an open portrait competition that is held annually. Two unique artworks by
Andrew Lloyd Greensmith and Prudence Flint have expressed their meaning relating to society in
their accounts of painting.
The inner stillness of Eileen Kramer is the artwork created by Andrew Lloyd Greensmith. This art
work consists of oil and lien, with the dimension of 86 x 51cm. The artwork depicts Eileen Kramer
positioned at the bottom left hand corner, gently caressing her face with her hands. Her maroon blouse
clothing was accessorised with blue jewelleries, and was lined up against a simple light background.
The upper body shot had showcased her defined wrinkles and clear strokes of her white hair.
The contrast between the light cream background and the maroon blouse have successfully drawn in
viewers attention. The contrasting colours have made the overall artwork standout. The viewers eyes
are snatched towards the vibrant red then it is directed to Kramer s peaceful expression. Her
expression is identified as the focal point of the painting. It encapsulates the meaning of stillness
expressing the relaxation and tranquilness. Greensmith had chosen to use a variety of different colour
tones to help sculpt and emphasis Kramer s features. The use of darker shades towards her left side
creates a shadow, indicating her angled sitting position.
With the age of 102, Kramer is the oldest dancer, poet, artist and costume designer. This artwork

A Student At Hampton University
I wish I could say it still surprises me when I mentioned to people that I attended an HBCU
(Historically Black College/University), some of them have no idea they exist. Often, it turns into a
conversation starter, which usually evolves into a meaningful educational moment about the history of
HBCU s. However, occasionally I find myself becoming frustrated when ask the question why in a
way that questions the validity and or need for HBCU s in 2016. As a student at Hampton University I
did not fully realize the impact it would have on me, but looking back, it is clear to me that those
experiences have shaped who I ve grown into today, and strongly influence to my desire to pursue a
career in environmental science education.
My first class in Marine and Environmental Science department at Hampton University turned out be
different than I expected. Instead of a large lecture hall full of students, I entered a small classroom
with approximately 15 students. It was a pleasant surprise to see the small group of students, who
shared a cultural resemblance and has similar interests. Up until then, typically when I told someone I
wanted to be a marine scientist, the response was oh that nice or so you want to play with fish? So
being at Hampton with likeminded students that I could relate to made the transition form high school
to college easier than I anticipated. There was a feeling of communities that allowed me to feel free to
be myself.

A leader is most effective when this communication has respect, and trust. There is one criticism of
this theory based on fairness. Because of the dynamics of in and out groups, all group members won t
receive the same attention from the leader.
One of those ways is situational leadership, a theory first proposed by Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard
in the Training and Development Journal in 1969. They viewed traditional leadership as one side no
longer fits every situation. Situational leadership his was designed to address the dilemma of matching
managers to proper job based on maturity and leadership skills. Blanchard and Hersey theorized that
various situations called for different types of leadership. In order to be successful, a leader has to be
able to adapt to those different situations (Northouse, p.99). Situational leadership has four leadership
styles that help influence the subordinates. A leaders decisions are based on the ability and motivation
of his or her subordinates, ranging from highly motivated and hi skill to low motivation and low skill.
The graph below demonstrates this.
None of the styles is considered to be optimal. In order for leaders to be effective, they must be able to
adapt and be flexible depending on each situation that arrises.
Situational leadership has several strengths and weaknesses.

its respective period. The Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon provides us with the picture of aristocracy in
Japan during the Heian period. Sei Shonagon served as a court lady to the empress around the year
1000 and through her time she records her opinions and her experiences in the court. On the other
hand The Song of Roland offers us the history of battles during the reign of Charlemagne and how his
government was set up and controlled.
The Heian court controlled the most of the territory of Japanese islands. The government was
centralized and it relied on local officials who relied on the warlords and Buddhist temples. There
were groups who held political power during this period. The emperors were highly prestigious and
politically influential. At this period the country was in peace as there were no outside threat. Due to
this the aristocrats in the court spent time on creating their own rich culture. From the passage of
Service at Court of The Pillow Book, there s detailed information of the women role during that
period and their experience. Sei Shonagon s tells us about her imagination of how it would feel to be
living in the home serving their husbands who don t have a exciting life yet believing there happy. She
says, I wish they could live for a while in our society, even if should mean taking service as
Attendants, so that they might come to know the delights it has to

The Dream Act Research Paper
Undocumented Americans and the DREAM Act What would it be like to be branded as illegal and be
denied the chance of a bright future? Millions of children are brought to the United States illegally
without much choice. Although some grow up to become active members of society, the future of
immigrant youth is handicapped by immigration laws, which make them face the hardships of not
being able to go to college, drive or get jobs, and live with the constant fear of deportation. The Dream
Act is a bill that would complete the dreams for countless young undocumented students and
individuals by the means of legal documentation. The U.S Congress should enact the DREAM Act

The reality that immigration policies and registration requirements create for undocumented students
is a grim one; despite their scholarly capability, thousands upon thousands of undocumented students
who have completed high school do not continue on with their education because of the lack of legal
paperwork (DREAM Act). This has been the story line for countless undocumented valedictorians,
like Grecia Cantu, who s dream of going to Baylor University to become a teacher was plucked by a
simple mandate of Congress (Smith). Despite having a presidential scholarship to Baylor University,
Grecia s future is hampered by her illegal status in the country and the inactivity of the DREAM Act
in congress, which is due largely to its brisk opponents. Critics of the legislation falsely advocate that
it grants preferential treatment to undocumented students (Malkin 1). In reality, the DREAM Act only
grants qualifying individuals with a temporary residency, a driver s license, and a work permit (Giving
the Fact). This allows the students who meet the criteria the same tuition rates as natural born citizens
and a legal way to work and drive in the country. Another resounding critic among the opponents of
the bill includes the common misconception that the DREAM Act will provide amnesty and forgive
the federal offense immigrants committed when they entered the country illegally (Smith). In truth,
only immigrants who entered the country during their youth, before age 16, are eligible for the
benefits of the legislation. Once they apply, they will have to fulfill the requirements of completing a 2
year college or serve a 2 year term in the armed forces to finally receive resident status, not
citizenship, after 6 years of proved residency (Creating Opportunities). If Congress allowed this
legislation to

Lord Of The Flies Beast Analysis
Lord of the Flies: What is a beast? Every human being has something that they are deeply afraid of.
This fear can be referred to as one s beast. This beast cannot be hunted or killed, but thrives in the evil
that lives inside all humans. Unfortunately, Sir William Golding wanted the characters in The Lord of
the Flies, to find this out the hard way. The characters believe, but some deny the fact that there is a
beast on the island on which they are stranded. They try to hunt for the beast on the island until one
day, one child, Simon, discovers the horrible truth about what the beast really is, the boys themselves.
Lord of the Flies wants readers to believe that humans are truly malevolent, and with no laws in place
to prevent humans from reverting to these evil ways, evil rises and takes over. Lord of the Flies is
written to depict how humans are truly evil when no societal norms are present, chaos breaks loose
over time. For example, the boys are stuck on an island after a plane crash killed all their parents, so
the boys have no adult supervision. To start, the boys act as if they were still in England, when Ralph
calls a meeting using an important symbol, a conch shell himself and Piggy had found in the sand. The
conch at first represents authority, Ralph, elected chief, uses it to call meetings, and whoever hold the
conch has the right to speak. The effectiveness of the conch is very successful at first, but as the boys
become more vicious, the value of the conch

Persuasive Speech For Your Address In Our School
Superintendent Crouse, Loveland Administration, and Loveland School Board Members, just last year
you vied for us to obtain our own tennis courts, which I use every week. As a result of this, I hold very
high regards and respect for you, and the fact that you care for all your students, and want to do all
you can to improve our school lives. For this, I know you are welcome to new ideas, and I hope to be
able to share mine without giving you the wrong impression, as I have no intent to offend you in any
way. My focus as of this moment is to change the course scheduling for classes, so that we could have
different weeks for different subjects, but still maintain a four block day. The idea came to me from
my French class, on account of the fact that the French actually do this at their schools.
In further details, it would mean that for two weeks we, the student population, would have half of our
classes, as long as there are no complications which I will explain later. The next two weeks, however,
we will have the other half of our classes, excluding special cases, again. As I know, there are some
flaws, as there are in every good idea. One such problem we could, no would run into, would have to
be if a student were to take 2 classes that have to be taken in a consecutive order. To solve this
problem, all that would have to be done is a bit of extra tampering with their scheduling, which would
happen regardless of the new changes for some. Said student would just have to revert back to block
scheduling, and switch classes half way through the year as we do now. In result, the student would
get the classes they want, and the new schedule for their remaining classes. Another problem that
some may argue could arise is the fact of tests, quizzes, homework, or finals, because we can t all have
time turners. Taking two weeks off could potentially affect some grades, but if you think about it, units
really only take about two weeks to explain and finish their complementary tests, and homework
wouldn t overlap unless it were some long term project. The reason these flaws would be worth the
extra time and effort to get through would be the extra focus students would gain. I find that I do
better at the beginning of the

To What Extent Should We Change Australia s Date Essay
The topic of Australia day s date has been widely debated for decades, with controversy and
arguments dividing our nation. Good afternoon everyone, today I will be discussing if Australia day s
date should change. It would be better for everyone if we changed the date. We should choose a date
that isn t offensive for Indigenous people, move our nation forward from our violent past with the
better options for the date that I will present. Why change the date? The real question is what is
stopping us. We have no reason to keep the date as it is other than tradition. The tradition to celebrate
the British taking the rightful land of the Aboriginals and then murdering them all. This is our
tradition. We need to change this.

First up, January 1st. Some believe that January 1st is the best day as it is the day the commonwealth
of Australia came into being in 1901; the day Australia came to be. Obviously, there are problems with
this date, new year s day is already a holiday and we Australians want as many public holidays we can
get, so next! The date that Fremantle chose for this year 28th January, which their only reasoning is it
gets the date away from the 26th but keeps it in the end of January. This is a viable date but it has no
historical significance at all. However, the date doesn t have to be during January, like may 27th. The
historical significance is on May 27 1968 Australia held a referendum to give Indigenous Australians
equal rights, let us celebrate something positive in our history and kick off National Reconciliation
week right. Personally, my vote is for May 8th. May 8, Mate (M8). That s it, the only reason for the
date. Any of these dates would be good for Australia day, as they have no negative connotations
affiliated with them. Change the date to one everyone can

that where they are seeing that Brendan is okay from what he s said. The also state that they already

Drug Abuse Among Teenagers And Young Adults
For several generations now drug abuse among teenagers and young adults has been a major problem
in American society. To address the problem successfully in term of diminishing the amount of illegal
drug use among this age demographic, we must first understand the patterns and trends over time in
terms of what drugs teenagers use, how they obtain them and then use them, and what factors cause or
influence them to engage in such activities. First we should define our terms and limits of discussion.
Drugs here means not only substances that are illegal in themselves like marijuana and cocaine, but
misused prescription medications as well as household substances not meant to be used as drugs such
as glue and nutmeg. Doctors can actually sometimes prescribe drugs like cocaine, marijuana, and
steroids for medical purposes but which are more often used illegally and harmfully. We are not going
to consider alcohol even though perhaps it should be because it is a substance used to later mods and
our mental states just like illegal drugs. Most of can recite the reason drug are bad for teenagers. Drug
use can delay or even permanently damage adolescent brains that are still growing. Drug abuse can
lead to poor life choices such as driving under their influence or engaging in criminal activity or just
impairing teenagers ability to keep up with schoolwork. The reason we care about teenage drug use
from the standpoint of developmental psychology has to do with the impact of drug use

Personal Strength Essay
Personal Strengths
Dependable
I believe that being a dependable team member is one of the most important qualities in any
institutional setting, but more so in a Christian school because it represents one of the core
characteristics of God: his faithfulness. God is always there for us no matter what. He keeps his
promises. He is trustworthy. He is faithful. So we can depend on him. Others should regard Christian
school administrator or a member as someone who knows what he is doing, is capable and prompt,
does not make excuses or blames others, can be trusted to keep promises as well as secrets, and says
what he means and does what he says.
I have a view of myself as a dependable person. People around me agree with that notion in general.
Family members and coworkers usually tell me that they have confidence in and count on me to get
the job done when a certain duty or responsibility calls. Once before, a group of us worked on a grant
proposal at the school and needed to have a certain student data included in the proposal before the
deadline which was coming up very quickly. I made every effort to collect and analyze necessary data,
and the proposal was ready before the deadline.
I selected dependability as one of my strong qualities because of my strong sense of responsibility and
work ethics and also because of other peoples opinions of me. They usually view me as someone
whom they can trust, come to share their problems and burdens and count on when they encounter
difficult situations.
Prepared
Being proactive is always better than being reactive. Some of the quotes from the book, The man who
is prepared has his battle half fought by Sevantes, and another one from Henry Ford Before everything
else, getting ready is the secret of success cannot be truer for a school administrator. Nobody would
respect and want someone who never or haphazardly prepare for a meeting, project, assignment, or
responsibility on their team. An Unpreparedness brings the whole team down and prevents team
members from being effective and accomplishing what they set out to.

Representative Democracy Essay
The political system I would use for Viva la Vida Islands, is the Representative Democracy. I think it s
better to have citizens vote on representatives to represent them, rather than gathering everybody to
vote on one law. It would be extremely difficult to gather people to have them vote. It s easier to have
citizens vote for a leader that has a voice for them and that they trust. Using this system would be
easier and fairer making everyone have a voice in one way or another.
It s certainly better than a communism or a dictatorship. I chose this route since, I disagree with
communism. I don t believe that everybody should have the same pay as each other. It s certainly
unfair for a McDonalds worker to earn the same pay as a builder. I believe the harder you work, the
more pay you should earn! I also, don t think it s right how the government chooses your job and
makes your life decisions. The government shouldn t be that nosey and plan your life out. I also, don t

A Nursing Perspective
Nurses are expected to provide care for their patients in their most vulnerable state of illness by giving
them medications, changing dressings, taking vitals and providing them with preventive education.
Yet it is emotionally, physically and spiritually demanding for the nurse to provide patients with

William Wordsworth s The Prelude
In William Wordsworth s poem, The Prelude, he describes how he imagines London to be. He is very
descriptive when he touches on what he expects upon arrival to the city, and then realizes London was
not the paradise he alluded to earlier in his poem. William Wordsworth use of imagery and diction
reflect the city s natural environment, which he also uses in order to convey his feelings of
anticipation and dissatisfaction with what he has discovered. In the beginning of The Prelude, William
Wordsworth s use of exclamation marks in the first few lines reveals his enthusiasm about London. He
say s, Oh, wondrous power of words, by simple faith/ Licensed to take the meaning that we love!
/Vauxhall and Ranelagh! (119 121) The author states his love for the power of words, and moves on to
talk about the gardens of Vauxhall and Ranelagh. These lines continue the author s excitement, and he
addresses London as if it were a person. The author establishes a relationship with the city based on
what he has heard and his writing reflects the passion he feels towards the city.
The author describes the city that he has heard so much of and calls attention to what appeals the most
to him. He gives an account of its green grooves, gorgeous ladies, and fireworks magical to name a
few. The descriptions convey Wordworth s keenness to go to the city. Wordsworth emotion is
displayed in the words he uses to describe his fancy of the city. In lines 121 139 he marvels at the

The Impact Of England And Wales Deals With Young People
In most of the jurisdiction in the world children are treated in a different way than adults. Applying the
full force of the criminal law to children and young people has long been held to be debatable. On this
paper we will be critically assessing the way in which England and Wales deals with young people.
The Children act 1989 and the Criminal Justice Act 1991 were the significant event occurred in the
youth justice system in 1990s which had the combine effect that separates the system of dealing with
children perceived to be in need of care and to be dealt in a separate court namely Youth court. This
was aimed to be a welfare based system. But the increases in the juvenile crime in the 1990s and
widespread publicity over persistent young offenders and the murder of two year old James Bulger by
two ten year old boys became major concern which forced the main political parties to reconsider their
positions on crime and punishment. As a result the political party committed to be tough on crime .
The use of warnings and cautions was criticised and discouraged. Later secure training orders for 12
14 year old and longer custodial sentence were introduced by the Criminal Justice and Public Order
Act 1994.
Also the common law doctrine of Doli Incapax, the presumption that a child between the ages of 10
and 14 year olds could not be prosecuted unless it could be proved that they knew the offence to be
seriously wrong , as oppose to merely naughty or mischievous, which is a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cloud Computing
Question 1: The ever changing demands and innovations keep on bringing new changes in
information technology. Currently, cloud computing is considered as the most critical application to
Web 2.0 which has revolutionized content sharing platforms. Web 2.0 is characterized by higher user
interactivity, enhanced communication channels, and more pervasive network connectivity (Fuchs et
al., 2013). On the other hand, cloud computing refers to technology model for enabling ubiquitous
access to computing services such as a database, storage, and servers over the internet, also known as
the cloud (Mathkunti, 2014). Cloud computing has the following advantages to Web 2.0 application:
users do not worry about the hardware and software being used and corporate benefits from easier file
sharing (Mathkunti, 2014). Other advantages are related to cost, reliability, flexibility, and
collaboration. Cloud computing is argued to eliminate expenses associated with purchasing software
and hardware as well as improve performance and reliability of computing (Breeding, 2012).
However, there are also some issues related to cloud computing. These issues include privacy and
security, emergency situations, standards, legality, and pricing. Regarding privacy and security, there
is a question on how well are security policies managed in cloud computing (Breeding, 2012).
Although cloud computing provides various advantages, some companies are reluctant to host their
proprietary data in the cloud due to

The Role Of Violence In Early 20th Century Literature
Violence seems so intrinsic to history individuals appear desensitized to the implications of subtle,
vicious, or aggressive physical violence. Can we challenge emotional reactions or do transcendent
principles guide human behavior to justify violence with reason? In early 20th century literature,
violent and hostile acts were fundamental to a protagonist s resolution; authors used this theme to
illustrate the prevalence of evil and question the effects on society when violence was tolerated. These
works profoundly impacted the overall societal view on the implication of violence as evil.

What Real Courage Looks Like in To Kill A Mockingbird by...
In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, This essay is going to prove how Atticus and Mrs.
Dubose both show their own version of moral courage and how it has influenced others in this novel.
The first point is that Atticus shows moral courage by fighting for what he believes in, no matter the
consequence or the result. The second point is how Mrs. Dubose shows a specific meaning of moral
courage by overcoming a tough physical and mental obstacle.
First of all, what is moral courage? Moral courage, in Atticus s case, is fighting for what you believe
in no matter what the consequences or result will be. At their house, Scout had asked Atticus why he
had taken up the Tom Robinson case, Atticus replied with For a number of reasons, said Atticus. The
main one is, if I didn t I couldn t hold up my head in town, I couldn t represent this county in the
legislature, I couldn t even tell you or Jem not to do something again. (Pgs. 75 76) In this quote,
Atticus was appointed to be Tom Robinson s lawyer, even though Atticus knows that he won t win the
case, and understands that he is licked before he even begins. He knows that Tom is innocent and that
he must fight for him, because no one else will. This makes Scout question Atticus s decision on
defending a Negro, not understanding that only Atticus could have taken that case. This quote proves
the thesis because Atticus shows his own special type of moral courage by standing up to the
communities racism, knowing that

Business model of Star Alliance is seem to be working properly with the large area of possibility to
travel and using frequent flyer programs. The biggest issue is the loss in integration between the
airlines or even absents of it. For the material and immaterial benefits integration must be wide spread
not only visible in small groups.
To work more efficiently they should invest and make a centralized IT infrastructure for all of the
systems. There were also too many cases where customer felt defrauded because of losing their
baggage or being unable to enter the lounge. These examples show the failure of delivering services
which were claimed by the alliance to be offered. That kind of inadequacy can cause a customer to
breakdown and stop using the company s services. Start Alliance is expected to bring seamless travel
environment so it should unify their operations.
The focus on a value should also be taken care of. Every airline should be examine on how much
value do they add to the alliance, because keeping a carrier just for the sake of having the largest
number of members does not seem to be profitable. With the measuring of the worth of each airline it
can be noticed which carrier fits and which would be better somewhere else. This should be done also
in definitive way, because right now the added value can be seen, but it needs to be more precise.

Jack London Figurative Language
The first few chapters of White Fang were very detailed because Jack London used great figurative
language and had good choice of words to describe he s setting. The book states Dark spruce forest
frowned on either side the frozen waterway. The trees had been stripped by a recent wind of their
white covering of frost, and they seemed to lean toward each other, black and ominous, in the fading
light (London 1) which is a great example of Jack London being really detailed. Also these first few
chapters had a lot of figurative language and metaphors. Having figurative language and metaphors in

reader thinking. An example of figurative language ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, The land itself was a desolation, lifeless, without movement, so lone and cold that the
spirit of it was not even that of sadness (London 1). This quote is an example of how he is very
detailed and how he describes what kind of setting his characters are in because he describes how
desolate and quiet the forest is; which also gives us an idea and a feel for how the setting is in the
book. Being detailed about the setting helps the reader because the reader would know where the
characters are at and the time the story takes place in; also being detailed in the setting is important
because if the reader doesn t know what a forest is it kind of gives them a feel of what a forest is like.
The book also states, The unrest of the dogs had been increasing, and they stampeded, in a surge of
sudden fear, to the near side of the fire, cringing and crawling about the legs of the men. In the
scramble one of the dogs had yelped with pain and fright as the smell of its singed coat possessed the
air (London 7). This quote is another example of why being really detailed is important because it
adds more intensity to action scenes so it gets the reader at the edge of their sits. It s important to have
the reader at the edge of their sits so the author can keep the reader interested into the book and keep
their minds thinking of what might happen next. These are some reasons why Jack London is very

Rebellion is the open opposition to authority, which could be either the government or ruler.
Throughout history there have been many different cases where a group of people are compelled to
defy the authority that rules them. The term rebellion holds a negative connotation that is often
equated to failed revolutions. Many political theorists have researched the motivation that leads
individuals to come together and rebel, and the methods they use to attempt to reach their goals.
Should one only rebel when the systematic repression of a people escalates to a certain level? In this

is worthy enough to rebel. I will also show how rebellion occurs through the works of Mao Tse
Tung(Mao Ze Dong) and David Kilcullen s work, The Accidental

The Cultural Differences In The Canadian Society During...
There were three main groups that suffered and struggled through many obstacles and a lot of people
setting them back; women, First Nations people, and immigrants and minorities. This prejudice caused
a significant negative impact on the Canadian society during the 1920s. In the roaring twenties, many
people believed that only white men should be treated with any respect because that was the status quo
at the time. The status of women was improving as some women got the right to vote, a woman was
elected a member of parliament, and women were now legally considered persons , but women were
still treated horribly and with little respect or dignity. The First Nations people as a whole were greatly
mistreated because of the federal government and the non first nations, Canadians believed that the
First Nations people would be more content, giving up their religion, heritage, and culture and become
more mainstream Canadian Christian. In addition, immigrants and minorities in Canada during this
time also suffered greatly because of the prejudice against them and the fact that the Canadian
government frowned upon all immigration that was not from another Commonwealth country, a
European country, or did not involve white Americans. First of all when women started to do the same
thing men did that had much of the Canadian population skeptical and afraid that these activities
would make the women more masculine and nobody wanted that to happen. Many spectators attended
the game[New Glasgow women s club defeated the Glacé Bay] out of curiosity to find out if the girls
could keep house and cook well enough to attract a husband (Winnick, 40). Of course Canadian
society mocked women who tried to step out of their comfort zones and try something new that could
change the way people viewed women. Their perception of women as helpless and comparing them to
thieves and minority groups rather than as equally intelligent and capable of the same things as the
white men if not more. The status quo influenced women to stay fit, healthy, and good looking. The
media made women think that the ideal body was thin and that they should be wearing a lot of
makeup, but no one wanted them to be more like men at the time; strong and a

Compare And Contrast Star Trekkies
The Star Trek franchise has been one of the largest and most successful in the history of Science
fiction. Its series of television programs has one of the most loyal and diverse fan bases in history.
However, the most common source of debate among Trekkies is over which program deserves the title
of The Best ; Star Trek: The Original Series or Star Trek: The Next Generation. While the followings
of both shows adamantly disagree with each other s claim to the title, these two shows have more in
common than people may like to believe.
While these two shows may have premiered decades apart, their roots remain the same. Both were
produced by Gene Roddenberry. They were both centered around the concepts of travel over time and
space, capturing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An obvious difference would be the time gap. Star Trek: The Original Series came out in 1966. Its
counterpart, Star Trek: The Next Generation did not make its debut until over twenty years later in
1987. The time difference also contributed to the difference in technology available. Due to the lack of
certain special effects technology, The Original Series seemed to be a lower quality program, however,
they were doing the best they could with their available resources. By 1987, extraordinary
advancement had been made in cinematic technology, allowing for The Next Generation to have a
much more diverse set of special effects at their disposal. The new show, which updates the futuristic
scenario of the original by being set in the 24th century, 85 years beyond the time of the first series,
has a sleek, streamlined look that has evidently pleased devoted Trekkies while drawing in newer,
more casual viewers weaned on the spectacular outer space sights of feature films such as Star Wars
(By 27). One of the most crucial differences, leading to the most controversy, is the crew. In Star Trek:
The Original Series the U.S.S. enterprise was commanded by Captain James T. Kirk, portrayed by
William Shatner. Kirk was known for being all heart and raw emotion. It was not uncommon for him
to make decisions that would clearly go against Starfleet regulations. His fans loved him for his
uncanny ability to be predictably

Grover Cleveland Research Paper
Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and 24th president of the United States. He is most famous for
becoming president on two non consecutive terms. He is also known for being the first president to be
officially married in the white house. Grover Cleveland had a very active life before presidency and
less of an active one after.
Stephen Grover Cleveland became a part of this world in Caldwell, also known as Horse neck, New
Jersey, March 18th, 1837. Cleveland was the fifth child out of nine (Grover, n.d). Grover Cleveland
was the 3rd son to Reverend Richard Falley Cleveland and Ann Neal, a native of Baltimore, Andrew

Democrats nominated Mr. Cleveland in 1885. The citizens gave Cleveland a torchlight parade in
Chicago honoring Cleveland s nomination (Adams, n.d.). Cleveland was victorious at the election
with the support of his fellow Democrats and reform Republicans, also known as the Mugwumps,
whom disliked James G. Blaine of Maine, Grover Cleveland s opponent (Grover, 2015). Mr.
Cleveland had won the election with 219 electoral votes, while Mr. Blaine had only received 182
electoral votes. March 4, 1885, Stephen Grover Cleveland officially became President of the United
States (Adams, n.d.). Cleveland was known as the bachelor, but that had changed by June 1886.
During this year Mr. Clevelend was wed to 21 year old Frances Folsom; he has been the only
President married in the White House (Grover, 2015). While in Clevelands first term he vetoed an
abundant amount of private pension bills towards the Civil War veterans, whose claims were obtained.
When Congress, pressured by the Grand Army of the Republic, passed a bill granting the pensions for
disabilities not caused by military service, Grover Cleveland Vetoed it as well (Grover, 2015). Grover
Cleveland had later angered the railroads by constructing an investigation of western lands they held
by Government grant. Cleveland forced the railroads to return 81,000,000 acres of land back to the
Government and also signed the Interstate Commerce Act, the first law to attempt Federal regulation
of the railroads (Grover, 2015). December 1887, Grover Cleveland called upon Congress to reduce the
high protective tariffs. Spoken that he had given Republicans and issue for the compaign of 1888, Mr.
Cleveland retorted, What is the use of being elect or re elected unless you stand for something?
(Grover, 2015). By the end of Cleveland s first term, he had been nominated by the Democrats

Ethos Pathos In Advertising
Advertisements are effective in many ways. Advertisement creators use three effective ways to
persuade the audience into what the advertisement conveys. The three effective persuasion tools are
ethos, pathos, and logos. Without these three persuasion tools, advertisements would be ineffective
and the audience would not be likely to buy the product or be effected by the message that the
advertisement tries to convey. Ethos is used to show how credible the advertisement is. Logos is used
to show the logical side of a product or a message. Pathos is the emotional take on an advertisement.
In a lot of smoking advertisements that want their audience to stop smoking, the advertisement authors
use pathos to persuade the audience to quit smoking or at least cutback. The smoking advertisements
are more pathos driven because it persuades the audience more by showing the emotional factors and
how smoking could cause a lot of harm to someone. In a lot of advertisements to stop someone from
smoking, the advertisements show the effects smoking has on both people who smoke and people who
do not smoke. The audience for smoking advertisements are not just smokers, but are also those
whose lives have been effected by a smoker. Authors bring up the effects smoking has by sometimes
including a smoker that has been physically harmed, not only on the inside but also on the outside. By
showing the outside physical harm, the audience is persuaded more to not smoke because they can
actually see

Celibacy in the Ministry of the Catholic Church
Introduction
The church has a large influence over the people, from the ancient times up until our modern age. The
church, as we know it, is composed of various members who all contribute to fulfill a holy calling, and
one of its constituents, who work closely with the public, are the priests. They make up the
embodiment of the Catholic Church, their very existence is what makes the church operate as it is,
meaning that they have an essential role to the Catholic system. With this in mind, priests represent the
very image of the church so issues associated with the priests are also identified in relation to the
church. As of now, there have already been various matters concerning the conduct of priests
instigated by society. One of these said issues are
Celibacy is the act of abstinence from marriage implicitly or explicitly made, for a more immaculate
devotion to chastity, by all those who are a member of the Holy Order. Priestly celibacy has been
observed by the Church for centuries with a high recognition, and retains its value undiminished even
in our time when the outlook of men and the state of the world have undergone such profound
changes. Amid the modern stirrings of opinion, a predisposition has been expressed, to ask the Church
to reconsider this specific convention. It is said that in the world of our time the observance of
celibacy has come to be difficult or even impossible. Necessity
One of the main reasons why it is necessary is because everyone is

Irony In The Play Tartuffe
The play Tartuffe by Moliere, is one of the is one of the most famous of theatrical productions of its
type. The plot centers on the main character, Orgon, and the fact that his family has fallen under the
spell of the charismatic Tartuffe. Orgon and his family end up being beholden to
Tartuffe in that everything they do is run by him first. This is despite the fact that the rest of the family
despises him and is well aware that he is a fraud. Throughout this satirical work, a comedy of errors
occurs which contributes to the overall comedy of the play. The funniest part is that throughout, the
audience becomes privy to the fact that no one is the way in which they represent themselves. Orgon,
while rich and somewhat powerful, is really portrayed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tartuffe is a fraud of the highest order and one of the servants proves to be the one with any real sense.
Another part of what makes this play so funny is that the characters are all so over the top in their
actions, that the reader can t help but laugh at the absurdity of all it all. An example of his can be seen
when not only does the audience realize that Tartuffe is a fraud, but the rest of Orgon s family does as
well. However, taking the comedy a step further, Orgon not only won t make a move without
consulting Tartuffe, but then he opts to marry his daughter off to this charlatan as well. A comedy of
errors ensues after this point, as the family takes step to avoid this happening. They decide to get
Tartuffe to confess his romantic feelings of Elmire,
Orgon s wife. When this happens, the entire play snowballs as Tartuffe is able to pull the wool over
Orgon s eyes again and again. This again contributes to the comedy of this play as Orgon is made to
be an even bigger fool and the character of Tartuffe gets even bigger and more bombastic at every
turn. While the events that take place might seem on their face to be serious, the way that Moliere
describes the scenes and characters, the reader can easily see

India And The Gender Bias
Gender Economics
Weekly Report 1

Question: The problem which are being faced in India and the gender bias in the healthcare sector of
India
India is a developing country and we all know that India is still in a health crisis. Although, India has
been awarded a Polio free status by an official certificate by the World Health Organization (WHO),
we still occupy 2nd position when it comes to population and the 112th position in sex ratio out of 190
countries . With this data we can assess the condition of healthcare in India. The healthcare system is
very bad in our country and for a developing country like India, we require that everyone, at least the
work force and the children who are the future of our country should be healthy, because if we want
India to reach at a stage of a developed country then we need to make sure we have an overall
development. One of my findings was a survey conducted by Dr.C.Chandramouli who is the Registrar
general and the census commissioner of India. His survey was conducted in different states of India
but the information I have taken is from the state, Madhya Pradesh the heart of India. The information
was gathered from each and every district in Madhya Pradesh in form of questioners and in form of
the verbal information which had to be gathered because there are still some villages in India who still
don t know how to read or write. The result which came in front was very

Kingsford charcoal marketing report
Kingsford charcoal brand is well known in barbecuing community across United States. Over time, it
consists in the message communication and marketing strategies to building and maintaining this
strong brand image. But in 2000, Kingsford faced a decline in sales and the category appeared softer
than it had in previous years. This report discusses and analyses the issues that Kingsford had, as well
as comes out some recommendations to overcoming the softening of the market.
Major issue identified
From Kingsford case, there some problems are reflected: 1. Should Kingsford increase its advertising

From the case, Kingsford s absences of media advertising further soften the category. Thus, increase
the media budget is the necessary action. The budget should primarily focus on TV advertising, but
also can choose radio, events, social media (blog, twitter, Facebook) and billboards. They need to pay
attention on its customer oriented promotion, to create a happy, joy, with closest friends and family,
make the brand associated with warm, fun, and happiness.
From lots of researches and the analysis mentioned at beginning, charcoal industry is very mature,
Kingsford as a industry leader can rely on its established brand image to extend its product category,
such as charcoal grilled food with the wood flavor, or launch the barbecue sauce under Kingsford
names.
In conclusion, Kingsford need a good marketing plan to overcome the industry decline and company s
deficit. Moreover, Kingsford s research and development department plays an important role of
product innovation and brand revitalization. Only with integrated marketing plan can Kingsford bring
the momentum in charcoal s industry.

Life Is Fine By Langston Hughes
I think the poem Life is Fine is a lyric poem. The poem Life is Fine is about someone who went down
to a river to think. But he can t think so he jumps in the river. And he starts to sink. Then he takes the
elevator up 16 floors and thinks about his baby. So he thinks about jumping. But he will be dogged if
they see him if they see him die. So in this poem I think he is telling us that everybody has problems
including Hughes. But in this poem he shows us that we should still push through and get through it.
In this poem Langston Hughes uses symbolism and imagery. Langston Hughes uses symbolism in this
quote I went down to the river, I set down on the bank. I tried to think but couldn t, So I jumped in and
sank. . I feel that he might be saying that the river is life. And he might feel that he Langston Hughes
is sinking in life. By putting symbolism in his poem it disguises what he really means or says what he
feels like it looks like. I think Langston Hughes uses imagery in the quote But it was...cold in that
water! It was cold! . I feel lik he uses imagery in that quote because he puts the image in our minds of
cold water or someone touching the water and the water is cold. By him using imagery it makes us ...

looked back and realized I made it through most of my struggles. In the past I have been dogged /
done wrong. But I ve always got through it. And cam back with better. Hughes might be disguising his
struggles because he doesn t want anyone to know them or are ashamed of them. By showing that
Hughes has struggles related me and maybe many more people to

However, it is still a major problem in sports. 89 percent of homosexuals heard or felt targeted by homosexual slurs, according to the study. In my interview with Ryan I asked him if the culture of the locker room needed to be the first thing to change, he said Absolutely, sometimes it has to start from within a team and then that positive and encouraging attitude can go on to others. In my interview with Ryan, he said he never felt targeted but he did hint at the fact that at times the slurs could be excessive, he aimed responsibility of the needed culture change on the coaching staff. He spoke about the coaches on one of the teams he played for previously, who used slurs towards the opposing team, Kinda shocked me, but I recognized it was a motivating factor . • 6. Arguments Against Egalitarianism In this essay, I will explain the view of prioritarianism as an alternative to egalitarianism, as it avoids the main problem facing egalitarianism. Albeit that prioritarianism withstands this problem, it brings with it more problems than it solves, so I will then refute prioritarianism and suggest we instead move to sufficientarianism. In Derek Parfit s Equality and Priority (1997) he introduces the idea of prioritarianism as an alternative to egalitarianism, this is to avoid the levelling down objection that egalitarianism faces. Egalitarianism claims that there is intrinsic moral value in some sort of equality, be it justice, opportunity, resources etc. (Arneson, 2013). The levelling down objection claims that there can be a case where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prioritarianism claims that people who are worse off should be given moral priority over those who are better off (Parfit, 1997, p. 213). If we imagine a society where there are rich people and very rich people, and another society where there are very poor people and poor people, and getting people from very poor to poor gives the same increase in utility as going from rich to very rich. Then, according to egalitarianism, getting people from rich to very rich would be just as good as getting people from very poor to poor. Prioritarianism, however, claims that getting people from very poor to poor matters more because they are worse off, even though the total increase in utility would be the same as getting the rich people to very rich. The prioritarian claim is not one of aiming to reduce equality, as if there was just one person in the world who is worse off, and no one else exists, we would be just be obliged to give him just as much benefit as we would a world where there are also other people who were better off. Benefiting those who are worse off is not relative to those who are better off, it is an absolute (Parfit, 1997). Prioritarianism avoids the levelling down objection because if we imagine the case where there are very rich people and very poor people, as we are not aiming for equality, making the very rich very poor would bring no good. A prioritarian would only be motivated to benefit the very poor as they re the ones who are worse off (Parfit, 1997). To change the worlds idea of how one would accomplish a task is a feat only relatable to the end of a war. But to change a product line forever, to change the way a certain product was produced, to change how people went about designing this product, interacting with this product, thinking of this product, now that s a whole new world. Very few designers have the privilege to say that they have achieved this, an accomplishment that designers dream of. The companies Braun and Sony are two companies with the same goal. • 11. Three Basic Job Evaluation Methods Job Evaluation Methods There are three basic methods of job evaluation: (1) ranking, (2) classification, (3) factor comparison. While many variations of these methods exist in practice, the three basic approaches are described here. Ranking Method Perhaps the simplest method of job evaluation is the ranking method. According to this method, jobs are arranged from highest to lowest, in order of their value or merit to the organization. Jobs also can be arranged according to the relative difficulty in performing them. The jobs are examined as a whole rather than on the basis of important factors in the job; and the job at the top of the list has the highest value and obviously the job at the bottom of the list will have the lowest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pay will be assigned in this method by comparing the weights of the factors required for each job, i.e., the present wages paid for key jobs may be divided among the factors weighed by importance (the most important factor, for instance, mental effort, receives the highest weight). In other words, wages are assigned to the job in comparison to its ranking on each job factor. The steps involved in factor comparison method may be briefly stated thus: Select key jobs (say 15 to 20), representing wage/salary levels across the organization. The selected jobs must represent as many departments as possible. Find the factors in terms of which the jobs are evaluated (such as skill, mental effort, responsibility, physical effort, working conditions, etc.). Rank the selected jobs under each factor (by each and every member of the job evaluation committee) independently. Assign money value to each factor and determine the wage rates for each key job. The wage rate for a job is apportioned along the identified factors. All other jobs are compared with the list of key jobs and wage rates are determined. An example of how the factor comparison method works is given below: Table: Merits and Demerits of Factor Comparison Method

  • 14. Analysis Of The Movie Iceman The Neanderthal Neanderthal Prejudice Elizabeth Armistead When humans encounter other humans, we tend to treat them differently. Whether it s because of cultural barriers, language barriers, or something as trivial as skin color, we view some people differently than we view those who share our ethnicity, culture, and values. This is referred to as racism or prejudice and it is still an active problem in the world today. But although people can differ greatly when it comes to culture or appearance, we share most of our genes. Our closest related (and now extinct) ancestor, the Neanderthal, can be viewed in similar terms. Their culture differed from ours now as modern humans, but surprisingly the genomes of humans and Neanderthals are 99.84% identical (Gibbons). However, based on our history of bias, if Neanderthals were alive today, we would no doubt treat them differently, if not inferior, to modern humans. In the movie Iceman the Neanderthal, Charlie, was caged in a room that resembled a natural terrain while he was subject to the studies that were performed on him including the monitoring of his speech patterns. But in this movie, he was portrayed as very human like and had multiple interactions with Dr. Shephard, an anthropologist who also became his friend. Imagine not being able to shower, or feel the underfoot sensation of soft wisps of grass, or embrace the comfort of a bed. Now, imagine living like that for an entire decade. For dogs raised in puppy mills, imagination is not necessary to experience these conditions. The puppy mill problem has universally been established as a horrid, unethical way of supplying animals to the pet buyers of the world, but the problem is never solved. • 23. The Dream Act Research Paper Undocumented Americans and the DREAM Act What would it be like to be branded as illegal and be denied the chance of a bright future? Millions of children are brought to the United States illegally without much choice. Although some grow up to become active members of society, the future of immigrant youth is handicapped by immigration laws, which make them face the hardships of not being able to go to college, drive or get jobs, and live with the constant fear of deportation. The Dream Act is a bill that would complete the dreams for countless young undocumented students and individuals by the means of legal documentation. The U.S Congress should enact the DREAM Act because it amplifies the pool for army applicants and college graduates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reality that immigration policies and registration requirements create for undocumented students is a grim one; despite their scholarly capability, thousands upon thousands of undocumented students who have completed high school do not continue on with their education because of the lack of legal paperwork (DREAM Act). This has been the story line for countless undocumented valedictorians, like Grecia Cantu, who s dream of going to Baylor University to become a teacher was plucked by a simple mandate of Congress (Smith). Despite having a presidential scholarship to Baylor University, Grecia s future is hampered by her illegal status in the country and the inactivity of the DREAM Act in congress, which is due largely to its brisk opponents. Critics of the legislation falsely advocate that it grants preferential treatment to undocumented students (Malkin 1). In reality, the DREAM Act only grants qualifying individuals with a temporary residency, a driver s license, and a work permit (Giving the Fact). This allows the students who meet the criteria the same tuition rates as natural born citizens and a legal way to work and drive in the country. Another resounding critic among the opponents of the bill includes the common misconception that the DREAM Act will provide amnesty and forgive the federal offense immigrants committed when they entered the country illegally (Smith). In truth, only immigrants who entered the country during their youth, before age 16, are eligible for the benefits of the legislation. Once they apply, they will have to fulfill the requirements of completing a 2 year college or serve a 2 year term in the armed forces to finally receive resident status, not citizenship, after 6 years of proved residency (Creating Opportunities). • 24. Lord Of The Flies Beast Analysis Lord of the Flies: What is a beast? Every human being has something that they are deeply afraid of. This fear can be referred to as one s beast. This beast cannot be hunted or killed, but thrives in the evil that lives inside all humans. Unfortunately, Sir William Golding wanted the characters in The Lord of the Flies, to find this out the hard way. The characters believe, but some deny the fact that there is a beast on the island on which they are stranded. They try to hunt for the beast on the island until one day, one child, Simon, discovers the horrible truth about what the beast really is, the boys themselves. Lord of the Flies wants readers to believe that humans are truly malevolent, and with no laws in place to prevent humans from reverting to these evil ways, evil rises and takes over. Lord of the Flies is written to depict how humans are truly evil when no societal norms are present, chaos breaks loose over time. For example, the boys are stuck on an island after a plane crash killed all their parents, so the boys have no adult supervision. To start, the boys act as if they were still in England, when Ralph calls a meeting using an important symbol, a conch shell himself and Piggy had found in the sand. The conch at first represents authority, Ralph, elected chief, uses it to call meetings, and whoever hold the conch has the right to speak. The effectiveness of the conch is very successful at first, but as the boys become more vicious, the value of the conch ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Persuasive Speech For Your Address In Our School Superintendent Crouse, Loveland Administration, and Loveland School Board Members, just last year you vied for us to obtain our own tennis courts, which I use every week. As a result of this, I hold very high regards and respect for you, and the fact that you care for all your students, and want to do all you can to improve our school lives. For this, I know you are welcome to new ideas, and I hope to be able to share mine without giving you the wrong impression, as I have no intent to offend you in any way. My focus as of this moment is to change the course scheduling for classes, so that we could have different weeks for different subjects, but still maintain a four block day. The idea came to me from my French class, on account of the fact that the French actually do this at their schools. In further details, it would mean that for two weeks we, the student population, would have half of our classes, as long as there are no complications which I will explain later. The next two weeks, however, we will have the other half of our classes, excluding special cases, again. As I know, there are some flaws, as there are in every good idea. One such problem we could, no would run into, would have to be if a student were to take 2 classes that have to be taken in a consecutive order. To solve this problem, all that would have to be done is a bit of extra tampering with their scheduling, which would happen regardless of the new changes for some. Said student would just have to revert back to block scheduling, and switch classes half way through the year as we do now. In result, the student would get the classes they want, and the new schedule for their remaining classes. Another problem that some may argue could arise is the fact of tests, quizzes, homework, or finals, because we can t all have time turners. Taking two weeks off could potentially affect some grades, but if you think about it, units really only take about two weeks to explain and finish their complementary tests, and homework wouldn t overlap unless it were some long term project. The reason these flaws would be worth the extra time and effort to get through would be the extra focus students would gain. I find that I do better at the beginning of the ... • 26. To What Extent Should We Change Australia s Date Essay The topic of Australia day s date has been widely debated for decades, with controversy and arguments dividing our nation. Good afternoon everyone, today I will be discussing if Australia day s date should change. It would be better for everyone if we changed the date. We should choose a date that isn t offensive for Indigenous people, move our nation forward from our violent past with the better options for the date that I will present. Why change the date? The real question is what is stopping us. We have no reason to keep the date as it is other than tradition. The tradition to celebrate the British taking the rightful land of the Aboriginals and then murdering them all. This is our tradition. We need to change this. In 1938, 80 years ago, ... The date that Fremantle chose for this year 28th January, which their only reasoning is it gets the date away from the 26th but keeps it in the end of January. This is a viable date but it has no historical significance at all. However, the date doesn t have to be during January, like may 27th. The historical significance is on May 27 1968 Australia held a referendum to give Indigenous Australians equal rights, let us celebrate something positive in our history and kick off National Reconciliation week right. To address the problem successfully in term of diminishing the amount of illegal drug use among this age demographic, we must first understand the patterns and trends over time in terms of what drugs teenagers use, how they obtain them and then use them, and what factors cause or influence them to engage in such activities. First we should define our terms and limits of discussion. Drugs here means not only substances that are illegal in themselves like marijuana and cocaine, but misused prescription medications as well as household substances not meant to be used as drugs such as glue and nutmeg. Doctors can actually sometimes prescribe drugs like cocaine, marijuana, and steroids for medical purposes but which are more often used illegally and harmfully. We are not going to consider alcohol even though perhaps it should be because it is a substance used to later mods and our mental states just like illegal drugs. Most of can recite the reason drug are bad for teenagers. Drug use can delay or even permanently damage adolescent brains that are still growing. Drug abuse can lead to poor life choices such as driving under their influence or engaging in criminal activity or just impairing teenagers ability to keep up with schoolwork. • 29. Personal Strength Essay Personal Strengths Dependable I believe that being a dependable team member is one of the most important qualities in any institutional setting, but more so in a Christian school because it represents one of the core characteristics of God: his faithfulness. God is always there for us no matter what. He keeps his promises. He is trustworthy. He is faithful. So we can depend on him. Others should regard Christian school administrator or a member as someone who knows what he is doing, is capable and prompt, does not make excuses or blames others, can be trusted to keep promises as well as secrets, and says what he means and does what he says. I have a view of myself as a dependable person. People around me agree with that notion in general. Family members and coworkers usually tell me that they have confidence in and count on me to get the job done when a certain duty or responsibility calls. Once before, a group of us worked on a grant proposal at the school and needed to have a certain student data included in the proposal before the deadline which was coming up very quickly. I made every effort to collect and analyze necessary data, and the proposal was ready before the deadline. I selected dependability as one of my strong qualities because of my strong sense of responsibility and work ethics and also because of other peoples opinions of me. They usually view me as someone whom they can trust, come to share their problems and burdens and count on when they encounter difficult situations. Prepared Being proactive is always better than being reactive. Some of the quotes from the book, The man who is prepared has his battle half fought by Sevantes, and another one from Henry Ford Before everything else, getting ready is the secret of success cannot be truer for a school administrator. Nobody would respect and want someone who never or haphazardly prepare for a meeting, project, assignment, or responsibility on their team. It s easier to have citizens vote for a leader that has a voice for them and that they trust. Using this system would be easier and fairer making everyone have a voice in one way or another. The Children act 1989 and the Criminal Justice Act 1991 were the significant event occurred in the youth justice system in 1990s which had the combine effect that separates the system of dealing with children perceived to be in need of care and to be dealt in a separate court namely Youth court. Currently, cloud computing is considered as the most critical application to Web 2.0 which has revolutionized content sharing platforms. On the other hand, cloud computing refers to technology model for enabling ubiquitous access to computing services such as a database, storage, and servers over the internet, also known as the cloud (Mathkunti, 2014). Cloud computing has the following advantages to Web 2.0 application: users do not worry about the hardware and software being used and corporate benefits from easier file sharing (Mathkunti, 2014). Other advantages are related to cost, reliability, flexibility, and collaboration. Cloud computing is argued to eliminate expenses associated with purchasing software and hardware as well as improve performance and reliability of computing (Breeding, 2012). In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, This essay is going to prove how Atticus and Mrs. Dubose both show their own version of moral courage and how it has influenced others in this novel. The first point is that Atticus shows moral courage by fighting for what he believes in, no matter the consequence or the result. The second point is how Mrs. Dubose shows a specific meaning of moral courage by overcoming a tough physical and mental obstacle. First of all, what is moral courage? Moral courage, in Atticus s case, is fighting for what you believe in no matter what the consequences or result will be. At their house, Scout had asked Atticus why he had taken up the Tom Robinson case, Atticus replied with For a number of reasons, said Atticus. The main one is, if I didn t I couldn t hold up my head in town, I couldn t represent this county in the legislature, I couldn t even tell you or Jem not to do something again. (Pgs. 75 76) In this quote, Atticus was appointed to be Tom Robinson s lawyer, even though Atticus knows that he won t win the case, and understands that he is licked before he even begins. He knows that Tom is innocent and that he must fight for him, because no one else will. This makes Scout question Atticus s decision on defending a Negro, not understanding that only Atticus could have taken that case. • 43. The Cultural Differences In The Canadian Society During... There were three main groups that suffered and struggled through many obstacles and a lot of people setting them back; women, First Nations people, and immigrants and minorities. This prejudice caused a significant negative impact on the Canadian society during the 1920s. In the roaring twenties, many people believed that only white men should be treated with any respect because that was the status quo at the time. The status of women was improving as some women got the right to vote, a woman was elected a member of parliament, and women were now legally considered persons , but women were still treated horribly and with little respect or dignity. The First Nations people as a whole were greatly mistreated because of the federal government and the non first nations, Canadians believed that the First Nations people would be more content, giving up their religion, heritage, and culture and become more mainstream Canadian Christian. In addition, immigrants and minorities in Canada during this time also suffered greatly because of the prejudice against them and the fact that the Canadian government frowned upon all immigration that was not from another Commonwealth country, a European country, or did not involve white Americans. First of all when women started to do the same thing men did that had much of the Canadian population skeptical and afraid that these activities would make the women more masculine and nobody wanted that to happen. Many spectators attended the game[New Glasgow women s club defeated the Glacé Bay] out of curiosity to find out if the girls could keep house and cook well enough to attract a husband (Winnick, 40). Of course Canadian society mocked women who tried to step out of their comfort zones and try something new that could change the way people viewed women. • 44. Compare And Contrast Star Trekkies The Star Trek franchise has been one of the largest and most successful in the history of Science fiction. Its series of television programs has one of the most loyal and diverse fan bases in history. However, the most common source of debate among Trekkies is over which program deserves the title of The Best ; Star Trek: The Original Series or Star Trek: The Next Generation. While the followings of both shows adamantly disagree with each other s claim to the title, these two shows have more in common than people may like to believe. While these two shows may have premiered decades apart, their roots remain the same. Both were produced by Gene Roddenberry. They were both centered around the concepts of travel over time and space, capturing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An obvious difference would be the time gap. Star Trek: The Original Series came out in 1966. Its counterpart, Star Trek: The Next Generation did not make its debut until over twenty years later in 1987. The time difference also contributed to the difference in technology available. Due to the lack of certain special effects technology, The Original Series seemed to be a lower quality program, however, they were doing the best they could with their available resources. By 1987, extraordinary advancement had been made in cinematic technology, allowing for The Next Generation to have a much more diverse set of special effects at their disposal. The new show, which updates the futuristic scenario of the original by being set in the 24th century, 85 years beyond the time of the first series, has a sleek, streamlined look that has evidently pleased devoted Trekkies while drawing in newer, more casual viewers weaned on the spectacular outer space sights of feature films such as Star Wars (By 27). One of the most crucial differences, leading to the most controversy, is the crew. In Star Trek: The Original Series the U.S.S. enterprise was commanded by Captain James T. Kirk, portrayed by William Shatner. Kirk was known for being all heart and raw emotion. It was not uncommon for him to make decisions that would clearly go against Starfleet regulations. • 46. Ethos Pathos In Advertising Advertisements are effective in many ways. Advertisement creators use three effective ways to persuade the audience into what the advertisement conveys. The three effective persuasion tools are ethos, pathos, and logos. Without these three persuasion tools, advertisements would be ineffective and the audience would not be likely to buy the product or be effected by the message that the advertisement tries to convey. Ethos is used to show how credible the advertisement is. Logos is used to show the logical side of a product or a message. Pathos is the emotional take on an advertisement. In a lot of smoking advertisements that want their audience to stop smoking, the advertisement authors use pathos to persuade the audience to quit smoking or at least cutback. The smoking advertisements are more pathos driven because it persuades the audience more by showing the emotional factors and how smoking could cause a lot of harm to someone. The audience for smoking advertisements are not just smokers, but are also those whose lives have been effected by a smoker. One of these said issues are Celibacy is the act of abstinence from marriage implicitly or explicitly made, for a more immaculate devotion to chastity, by all those who are a member of the Holy Order. The plot centers on the main character, Orgon, and the fact that his family has fallen under the spell of the charismatic Tartuffe. Orgon and his family end up being beholden to Tartuffe in that everything they do is run by him first. This is despite the fact that the rest of the family despises him and is well aware that he is a fraud. Tartuffe is a fraud of the highest order and one of the servants proves to be the one with any real sense. Another part of what makes this play so funny is that the characters are all so over the top in their actions, that the reader can t help but laugh at the absurdity of all it all. An example of his can be seen when not only does the audience realize that Tartuffe is a fraud, but the rest of Orgon s family does as well. However, taking the comedy a step further, Orgon not only won t make a move without consulting Tartuffe, but then he opts to marry his daughter off to this charlatan as well. A comedy of errors ensues after this point, as the family takes step to avoid this happening. They decide to get Tartuffe to confess his romantic feelings of Elmire, Orgon s wife. When this happens, the entire play snowballs as Tartuffe is able to pull the wool over Orgon s eyes again and again. This again contributes to the comedy of this play as Orgon is made to be an even bigger fool and the character of Tartuffe gets even bigger and more bombastic at every turn. While the events that take place might seem on their face to be serious, the way that Moliere describes the scenes and characters, the reader can easily see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although, India has been awarded a Polio free status by an official certificate by the World Health Organization (WHO), we still occupy 2nd position when it comes to population and the 112th position in sex ratio out of 190 countries . With this data we can assess the condition of healthcare in India. The healthcare system is very bad in our country and for a developing country like India, we require that everyone, at least the work force and the children who are the future of our country should be healthy, because if we want India to reach at a stage of a developed country then we need to make sure we have an overall development. One of my findings was a survey conducted by Dr.C.Chandramouli who is the Registrar general and the census commissioner of India. His survey was conducted in different states of India but the information I have taken is from the state, Madhya Pradesh the heart of India. • 52. Life Is Fine By Langston Hughes I think the poem Life is Fine is a lyric poem. The poem Life is Fine is about someone who went down to a river to think. But he can t think so he jumps in the river. And he starts to sink. Then he takes the elevator up 16 floors and thinks about his baby. So he thinks about jumping. But he will be dogged if they see him if they see him die. So in this poem I think he is telling us that everybody has problems including Hughes. But in this poem he shows us that we should still push through and get through it. In this poem Langston Hughes uses symbolism and imagery. Langston Hughes uses symbolism in this quote I went down to the river, I set down on the bank. I tried to think but couldn t, So I jumped in and sank. . I feel that he might be saying that the river is life. And he might feel that he Langston Hughes is sinking in life. By putting symbolism in his poem it disguises what he really means or says what he feels like it looks like. I think Langston Hughes uses imagery in the quote But it was...cold in that water! It was cold! . I feel lik he uses imagery in that quote because he puts the image in our minds of cold water or someone touching the water and the water is cold. By him using imagery it makes us ...
