Psy 270 Week 5 Case Study Donovan
For starters, one of the first measures that I would use as a means to intervene with Donovan
would be something as simple as a phone call. According to the text, this is something that should
be approached with caution, simply because, the client feeling that they are there for a quick fix,
become lax, and wait for the clinician to pass judgement (Miller, Forechimes, Zweben, 2011). With
this taken into consideration, I would gradually start to introduce the basic screening questions and
set up an appointment time and location so that Donovan and I can meet and get this process
started. I feel like with this particular approach it would more than likely provide him with the
motivation to participate in the evaluation process. Would you agree?... Show more content on

This particular criteria maps out the pattern of amphetamine type substance, cocaine, or other
stimulant use leading to clinically significant impairment or distress, as manifested by at least
two of the criteria occurring within a 12 month period (DSM V, 2013). Based on that previous
statement Donovan would be classified as the perfect candidate under criteria four which is
craving, or the strong desire or urge to use the stimulant. The example that I can provide to support
this is Donovan deems it necessary to use cocaine in order to complete multiple tasks. Six on the
other hand, goes onto to provide clarity that continued stimulant use despite having persistent or
recurrent social or interpersonal problems caused or exacerbated by the effects of the stimulant. To
support this theory it has been made known that Donovan and his wife are having issues because

buildings all over the world. On December 9th, 1947, Holl was born in Bremerton, Washington,
where he grew up. Bremerton, Washington, is a smaller town that is known for its manufacturing

complex it was to make these things and how the designers were able to incorporate space to house
the people in them while still being efficient. He graduated with honors from the University of
Washington Architecture School in Bellevue. In 1970, after graduation, Holl headed off to Rome
and London to further his studies with architecture. When in Rome, Holl was deeply impacted...

Why Is Hector Unpredictable Louis Sachar
Hector (Zero) Hector Zeroni is unpredictable at the start, the middle, and the end of the story. In
Louis Sachar s adventure fiction Holes Hector Zeroni is the most unpredictable person in the
story. The first reason why we think Hector is unpredictable is because he never spoke to anyone
except for Stanley. The second reason Hector is unpredictable is because lot of the people were
surprised whenever Hector did something a little different than how he acts. The third reason
Hector was unpredictable is because no one paid too much attention (except for Stanley) might
have caused him to do things that he normally wouldn t do. The First reason why we think Hector
is unpredictable is because, he does not talk to anyone except Stanley.

characterized by ventilation and perfusion mismatching that leads to hypoxic respiratory failure.
Ashbaugh and colleagues first defined it in 1967 when they described 12 patients with severe

refractory to supplemental oxygen, but which in some cases was responsive to the application of
positive end expiratory pressure (PEEP) (Ferguson et al., 2012, p. 1574). Autopsy also revealed
widespread pulmonary inflammation, edema and hyaline membranes (Ferguson et al., 2012)....

Comparing Iago And Othello

April 6, 2015
The Honorable Murderer
Iago and Othello, as military figures, have shown courage in combat and are respected members
of their community. In the end though, each of them kills his wife in a fit of rage. It would be
easy to view both of them in the role of a villain. Both men are deeply flawed; however, Iago is the
true villain. He enjoys his evil actions. Othello, while allowing jealousy to consume him, is the
tragic hero of the story.
Othello was raised in and around the military. From the tender age of seven he served as a solider.
During the 16th century, mercenary armies were primarily made up of foreigners. Mercenaries

We also disapprove of his arrogance in describing himself as an honourable murderer, (690) as
this suggests that he doesn t fully accept responsibility for his actions. However, we can feel his
pain and sorrow as he cries out cold, cold, my girl (691). Our view of Othello is changed by how
we last see him. For most of the play, we view him as the hero. We are rooting for him to figure
out he is being lied to and manipulated. Othello s fall should not have happened. It is truly tragic
that his reputation, his wife, and his life s work are consumed by a fit of jealous rage. His
accomplishments rendered worthless as he takes his own life. He is very aware of what he has
lost confessing he threw a pearl away richer than all his tribe (690). Othello, the hero of Venice,

The Relationship Between Art And The Renaissance Art
The connection between art and science is one of the most characteristic features of the
Renaissance culture. The truthful image of the world and man had to be based on their knowledge,
so the cognitive beginning played an especially important role in the art of this time. Naturally, the
artists sought support in the sciences, often stimulating their development.
The Renaissance is a time of great discoveries, great masters and their outstanding works. It is
marked by the appearance of a whole galaxy of artists scientists, among whom Leonardo da Vinciis
the first.
Fine art in the Renaissance reaches unprecedented heyday. This is due to the economic upsurge,
with a huge shift that has occurred in the minds of people who have turned to the cult of earthly
life and beauty. The visual art of the Renaissance in many ways represents a contrast to the
medieval. It marks the emergence of realism for a long time determined the development of
European artistic culture. This affected not only the spread of secular images, the development of
portrait and landscape or a new, sometimes almost genre interpretation of religious subjects, but
also in the radical renewal of the entire artistic system. In the Renaissance, an objective image of
the world was seen by the eyes of a man, so one of the important problems facing artists was the
problem of space. In Italy, already in the first half of the century, a scientific theory of linear
perspective based on geometry and optics was created.

Aspects Of Ancient And Modern Israel Religion

The ancient religion Judaism has developed over time through the different aspects of things such
as the Hebrew Bible, the ten commandments, religious practices and daily life which has developed
the aspects of modern Judaism. The Judaism religion originates from the country of Israel, located
in the content of Asia near its neighboring countries Syria, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. From
ancient Judaism to modern Judaism, the religion is one of the few that has stuck to its roots and

The Patriarchs were the forefathers of the Jews, first was Abraham, followed by his son Isaac,
his grandson Jacob, and Jacob s 12 sons from whom the 12 tribes of Israel originate (Wilkinson
76). The story of Abraham is that he came from Mesopotamia at some point within the 2nd
millennium BCE because God had made a covenant, or agreement with him that he would be
faithful to the people of Israel, who must serve him and obey his laws. Abraham settled in the
land later known as Israel and during his time he wondered how God s promise could be
fulfilled. Abraham was a man of great faith and obedience to the will of God, so when Abrahams
son Isaac was born God asked Abraham to sacrifice his one and only son, in the moment when
Abraham was going to kill his son, God interrupted and told him to kill a ram instead. Later the
Jews spent years in exile as slaves in Egypt, Moses their prophet, was the one who led the
Israelites out of Egypt. The ten commandments are what God gave to Moses including the Torah.
The writings decrypted on the tablets included the laws by which all Jews must live. The ten
commandments include things such as You shall have no other gods before Me, you shall not
make idols, you shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, Remember the Sabbath day
and to keep it holy,

Comparison Of Professor Marsten And The Wonder Woman
As far as who will write the script for this adaptation, I would like to have the author of the book
also pen the screenplay. It is his story and I want to respect that ultimately any changes made to
the material would be changing his vision, and because of this I would like to give him more
creative license over the film. He also currently still owns the rights to the material and I believe
that he will be more likely to hand them over to someone if he is promised a say in the final
product. It seems that one of the main reasons authors do not sell the rights to their material, is
because they are concerned about not having any creative license in the final product. In allowing
Dale Peck to write the screenplay, not only will the film maintain the tone of the book, it will also
motive him to allow the film to be made in the first place.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She is an upcoming director, who recently directed Professor Marsten and The Wonder Women,

For this reason, it was important to me to hire a female director. Women so rarely get the chance

Angela Robinson is specifically the right choice because she has experience working on indie films

Pastor Burnout
Introduction
Pastors, also commonly referred to as ministers, or clergy, entering the church ministry profession
largely attribute their vocational choice to a sense of calling (Beebe, 2007; Dodd, 2012; Lee,
2010; Meek, McKinn, Brower, Burnett, 2003; Oleson, 2011). Calling within a pastoral context can
be defined as an obligation to live out a mission, set by God, to work for a purpose other than one s
own (Dodd, 2012). Evidently, regardless of the preceding foundational objective to their
professional choice, studies show a high attrition rate amongst pastors, due to stress and burnout
(Beebe, 2007; Dodds, 2012; Krejcir, 2007). Stress is an event or a series of events that lead to
strain, which can result in physical and psychological health problems (Corey, et al., 2015, p. 58).
Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual depletion characterized by
feelings of helplessness and hopelessness (Corey, et al., 2015, p. 60). A study by Francis A.
Schaeffer Institute of Church Leadership Development of 1,050 pastors revealed telling statistics.
For example, 100% of pastors surveyed attested to personally knowing at least one colleague who
left the pastorate due to either burnout, moral failure, or church conflict related stress. Additionally,

Abstinence-Only vs. Comprehensive Sex Education Essay
Since the HIV/AIDS epidemic began in the U.S. in the early 1980s the issue of sex education for
American youth has had the attention of the nation. There are about 400,000 teen births every year
in the U.S, with about 9 billion in associated public costs. STI contraction in general, as well as
teen pregnancy, have put the subject even more so on the forefront of the nation s leading issues.
The approach and method for proper and effective sex educationhas been hotly debated. Some
believe that teaching abstinence only until marriage is the best method while others believe that a
more comprehensive approach, which includes abstinence promotion as well as contraceptive
information, is necessary. Abstinence only program curriculums disregard... Show more content on

Other supporters think that sex education should not deviate from other teachings of other health
curricula such as drunk driving, tobacco use, drug use, alcohol consumption, gun use, fighting; all
things which are taught to just not do (Collins, Alagira, and Summers 12 13). They believe that it is
the responsibility of a public institution which serves kids to teach them risk avoidance rather than
harm reduction ( WebMD: Better Information. Better Health ). Many advocates for abstinence only
education believe that its message is strongly intertwined with traditional values and religious faith;
both of which they claim to have measurable influence in preventing teens from having sex
(Collins, Alagira, and Summers 12 13). Christian conservative women believe that comprehensive
sex education would encourage sexual activity and lesbianism, as well as undercut marriage and
create social decay (Fields 24). Proponents for abstinence only education believe that the abstinence
only message has contributed to the decline of adolescent sexual activity as well as negative related
outcomes. In the 1990s there was a decrease in adolescent pregnancy, birth and abortion rates.
These proponents attribute these declining statistics to the abstinence only message and claim that
the declines cannot be accredited to increased

Stealing Carol Ann Duffy Essay
In the poem Stealing by Carol Ann Duffy the speaker attempts to steal the intangible emotions of
others. The speaker does not steal for material gain, rather for emotional gain. The speaker is
ambiguous, (henceforth referred to as he ) and appears to be answering a question. In this dramatic
monologue Duffy explores violent and self destructive behavior in order to impart the speakers
desolate attitude towards life.
Duffy uses abrupt, and violent language to communicate the discord in the speaker s life. my
breath ripped / out in rags (18 19) is a violent statement that is disjointed through enjambment; this
technique of ripping apart the sentences to different lines adds to the feeling of discontinuity in the
speakers life. This sense of discontinuity gives the reader a feeling of discontent. The self
destructive tone is mixed with a sneering attitude to create the impression of being an outcast. The

Psychopaths lack the ability to truly feel for others. He is an individualist, which is a common
theme of the Margaret Thatcher era. The speaker has an entitled outlook on life, Sometimes I

psychopaths. I wanted him, a mate / with a mind as cold as the slice of ice / within my own

mind is frozen or not moving, stationary in its ideas. Another approach to this line is that the slice

High School Sports Essay
Competitive sports play a large role in many high schools. In high school I played every sport;
Football, Basketball, Baseball, Lacrosse, Soccer, Swimming, I even Wrestled. High school sports
over the past couple of years have become increasingly difficult to keep up with due to the vast
amount of preparation you re expected to do. Most recognize that the Pro s and the NCAA have
gone too far with there s willingness to win. That do whatever it takes to win mentality kills from
the game in my opinion.

Media; Levi Jeans Campaign Essay
Why in your opinion, was the Levi Strauss 501 campaign so successful?
The Levi Strauss 501 advertising campaign was so successful in 1984 1990 as it attracted the
typical American teens selling independence, sexuality and physical good looks, representing the
perfect figure and body. It illustrated a complete lifestyle to the teenagers world. Admiring the
fantasy of idols James Dean and Marlon Brando, all connecting to the Levi guys (jeans) in the
adverts, giving the impression of a sensual, healthy radiant aspect, to the gazed audience. Falling for
the act, teens still continued to buy the different types of jeans, whilst new ideas were being

This particular one reads Now available stonewashed! Relating back to when he places the stones
in the machine to be washed. Each storyline in the commercials have an unpredictable ending. The
adverts kept changing, the colour of the jeans changed from blue to black. They purposely did this
to make more money because since World War 11, people had more wealth. The teens had to be in
with the latest fashion.
There is plenty of iconography throughout the adverts. The image of a dark, muscled, tanned bloke
appears in each advert. This independent, sexy guy is in it, as it will attract more customers to buy
the jeans, thinking they will be like him (or the Levi s girl, who is stunning, free and healthy too).
The camera will constantly focus on the jeans, encouraging you to buy them. American styles
emerge in every advert. A good example is the sunsets. Usually at the end, a car (or Harley
Davidson) will disappear into the sunset leaving with happy thoughts. Or skyscrapers will crop up
in the background reminding you it originated in America!
The red label on the jeans means everything so it is repeated frequently, many big close ups are
used on them. At the beginning of each advertisement music commences. The song will always
relate to that specific advert. The Launderettes song is by Marvin Gaye, Hurdle Through the
Grapevine . The lyrics will constantly link to the story. This idea of

The Inerrancy Of His Scriptures Essay
There are posters and bumper stickers declaring that God is dead. It has become fashionable in
large portions of American population to attribute belief in God to a mental disorder, or personality
flaw. This rejection does not change the omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent (Towns 117 122) and
immutable (Towns 102) One. It is in the belief that Godis very much alive and is active with His
creation today that the vocation, or calling, of teaching, or sharing knowledge, is vital today. One of
the things that sets Yahweh apart from all others that claim deity is the inerrancy of his Scriptures

It is important to teach the person of God, the self existent (Exod. 3:13 14) One; the first cause who
cares about his creation. Christianity has been watered down to be more acceptable by the masses.
Doctrine and dogma are no longer of primary importance. Without the teaching of the fundamental
tenets, Christ is a caricature of a sympathetic big brother figure, holding to the form of godliness
but denying its power (2 Tim. 3:5, HCSB). Much of what the unsaved American society knows of
Christ is what is presented at Christmas. Therefore, the birth of the Savior, and the gifts given at
the holiday are what is remembered. The Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation, from alpha to
omega, in every jot and tittle, testify of Christ Jesus. The miracle of the God who became flesh, and
lived among men. He was from God, He was God; eternal and divine. He became the servant to be

Symbolism In The House Of The Scorpion
In The House of the Scorpion, Nancy Farmer states, No one can tell the difference between a
clone and a human. That s because there isn t any difference. The idea of clones being inferior is a
lie. Members of the AlacrГЎn household try to choose Matt s destiny before he is created and
impose false allegations on him throughout his life. The belief that Matt is dangerous, a useless
clone, and will become like El PatrГіn leaves him no room to create an identity of his own. In the
House of the Scorpion, Matteo AlacrГЎn is faced with the internal conflict of what his real identity

Alfred Lord Tennyson, Langston Hughes And Walt Whitman
Three of the most well known Western genii of poetry are Alfred Lord Tennyson, Langston Hughes
and Walt Whitman. All of these men have exemplary traits and attributes in their respective sectors
of poetry. Tennyson, Hughes and Whitman all played a major role in the world of poetry and many
factors of theirs are still influencing prose to this day. Despite being among the most influential
poets of the American canon, Walt wasn t born quoting Shakespearean poetry. He was born in New
York to a poor family and was the second of nine children. After concluding formal schooling at
the age of eleven, Walt started to work for the local printer. He became an active member of his
local library, joined a public speaking club, and started watching theatrical performances. At his
local library, he studied history, theatre, literature, music, geography, and many other sciences. At
the age of thirteen Walt anonymously published his first ever poem in the New York Mirror . After
a temporary collapse of the printing industry and variety of different jobs, Whitman started to
indulge in freelance fiction and poetry writing.
Despite the fact that Walt Whitmanmay have seemed simple minded, he had a major role in the
world of poetry. Walt Whitman established a new kind of poetry called free verse. Never before was
a poet able to write a rhythm free poem without having his/her poetry pushed away. Poetry is still

What Are The Four Major Developmental Theories
Introduction
Developmental theories help teachers in many ways to enrich their teaching and student s learning
process. Therefore, it is very important teachers to apply the key ideas of these developmental
theories in their teaching career to the betterment of students.
This document will present a brief description of four major developmental theories and will focus
on how these theories can be applied in my real teaching world as a middle school teacher. Four
major developmental theories
Though many theorists have brought the study of human development, there are about four major
important theories that are in use effective (Oswalt, Major Child Development Theories and

Piaget s stages of cognitive development theory
Jean Piaget has brought a cognitive developmental theory with four stages;
Sensorimotor (birth to 2 years), Preoperational (2 to 7 years), Concrete operational (7 to 11 years),
and formal operational (12 years to adulthood). In
Piaget s view, throughout these four stages all children develop their thinking according to how
they see the world around them (Oswalt, Jean Piaget and Child Development
, 2007).
Lawrence Kohlberg s theory of moral development
In Kohlberg s moral development theory, he discussed about the process which people learn how to
identify and differentiate what is right and what is wrong.
In his theory, he presented main three levels with total six stages. They

Cognitive Social Learning Theory
I have selected this theory primarily because I believe that a great majority of our learning during
the course of our entire lives is achieved by observation. Bandura s social cognitive theory is a
learning based on the ideas that people learn by watching what others do and that human thought
processes are central to understanding personality. While social cognition experts agree that there is
a fair amount of influence on development generated by learned behavior displayed in the
environment in which one grows up, they believe that the individual person is just as important in
determining moral development. People learn by observing others, ... Show more content on

While watching and observing children play, you can discover their interests. You can see more
than the children just having fun, but you may witness any strengths and/or weaknesses in
personality, learning or interactive abilities. By observing children I was able to learn their
developmental level, such as who the leader of the group was or what leaders were in
competition to lead the play session. Thus observing the children interact I could learn a lot
about their respective personalities. From my observation, the child that was obviously in
charge of this group had either an older sibling, relative or perhaps was mimicking what he saw
on television by directing and giving instruction to the other children who were playing with him.
In the game of organized basketball there is one leader on the court for each team. That leader is
normally the point guard position. The child may already possess the personality of being a
leader, but he had to observe and learn the other details he exuded by watching what he had seen in
live action or by television.
I can personally relate to this theory the most because in retrospect I realize that a great deal of
my behavioral learning was developed through observation. I wouldn t consider where I grew up
as a child as being the ghetto , but the area was rough, and I believe it is safe to say that there was
a survival of the fittest mentality. There was a certain assertive aggressiveness that I

Why Jefferson Davis Won The Civil War
On April 2nd, Jefferson Davis, Southern President , fled his home and the Confederate capitol,
Richmond, Virginia after burning important documents. The fire spread accidentally from the
documents to the town, destroying many blocks of the city (See map on right). Davis had a train
scheduled to leave at 8:30 pm, but it didn t leave until 11:00 pm. He went to Danville, Virginia
where he is expected to be hiding out.
Davis got warned by Robert E. Lee that the Union army was coming to Richmond. The telegram
said I advise that all preparation be made for leaving Richmond tonight . Davis previously sent his
family away to safety, showing he might have assumed this would happen. However, he didn t plan
for the fire of the documents to spread to the town.
With Richmond burning, the Confederate leader in hiding, and the main Southern general failing in
many of the past battles, the South is in pieces, and it is no surprise the Union won this war.

Verbal Emotional Abuse Essay
You re Ugly! Stupid! Can you do anything right? I wished you were never born! Does any of

many people on a daily basis who suffer from verbal emotional abuse. In today s society too
many of our children live in homes where they face verbal emotional abuse on a regular basis. In

emotional abuse and how to tell what the signs of verbal emotional abuse are in order to assist a

underlying meanings that fall into this category. According to Love is Respect.org, verbal
emotional abuse is defined as non physical behaviors such as threats, insults, constant monitoring or

many behaviors that qualify as emotional or verbal abuse (n.d.). Some of these are Calling you

his personal task to regain his dukedom, which his brother Antonio usurped from him. Throughout
the play it is shown how Prospero develops and changes as a character and seems a different
person to the character we first meet in Act One Scene Two. How Prosperos character develops
happens in a variety of ways, one of the most potent ways appearing to be the treatment of the other
characters within the play. Prospero s character is introduced into the play in Act One Scene Two,

It is easy to see this by the way that Prospero speaks to him using sub human terms such as Thou
poisonous slave (4) and him being called a fish (5).
Yet as Prospero s character develops, he appears to become less vengeful. Caliban as a sub (or non)
human has no rights at all. Furthermore, he was part of a murder plot to kill Prospero so it
would not be unusual for the audience to expect Prospero to use his power to get rid of Caliban.
Yet in the final act of the scene of the play, Caliban says:
Ay, that I will; and I ll be wise hereafter
And seek for grace. (6)
Caliban here repents and agrees to seek grace and is simply allowed to go and live on the Island.
This does not mirror the actions of Prospero at the beginning and throughout the play. He seems to
play the role of the cruel sorcerer using his powers to gain control over people and scare them. Yet
his action towards Caliban in Act Five seems unlike the character that he has been throughout the
play.
How he treats Caliban does mirror how he is treats the rest of the characters in the final scene. He
does not seem to punish any of the characters, even his brother Antonio. It appears to me that once
he has completed the task he wanted to complete and so is able to become Duke of Milan once
again he is a more compassionate person. He lets the other characters go free from their
punishments. The only characters who seem to be punished are Trinculo and Stephano but they are

always resulted in design deficiencies that have prevented the device from making it to the market.
However, with TaserInternational the company collectively refined the device based on the
failures of previous manufacturers and began marketing the device to law enforcement agencies as
from 1998 onward.
Before Taser International, Jack Cover invented the TF 76 in the mid 1970s. It is now
considered the primary source of the modern CED or CEW s. The TF 76 originally fired two
darts that were propelled by gunpowder to reach a target up to 15 feet away. The TF 76 was
initially viewed as a dangerous weapon that was severely restricted resulting in a barrier of entry
into many markets including that of the law enforcement agencies.
However, in 1998 the CEO of Taser International introduced the M26 as the next new product. As
supported by the information in the advertisements found on the homepage of Taser International
the M26 was a model far more superior to any Taser model since its invention. The M26 was
viewed as an enormous breakthrough because it provided Electro Muscular Disruption (EMD)
which instigated an involuntary muscle contraction within the subject. However, the latest model
being the X26 was developed to address the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Distributed Database Systems
This paper discussed the Distributed database systems which are systems that have their data
distributed and replicated over several locations; unlike the centralized data base system, where one
copy of the data is stored in one location. the Distributed database system has many advantages:
1.Availability of the data in case of failure.
2.Parallelism: queries may be processed by several nodes in parallel.
3.Reduced data transfer.
It also has some disadvantages:
1.A distributed system usually exhibits more complexity and cost more than a centralized one.
2.Handling security across several locations is more complicated.
Types of DDBMS:
1 Homogeneous DDBMS
a.All sites use same DBMS product (eg. Oracle)
b.Fairly easy to design and manage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Communication Failures: failures in the communication system between two or more sites.
The 2 phase commit (2PC) protocol:
The major issue in building a distributed database system is the transactions atomicity. When a
transaction runs across into two sites, it may happen that one site may commit and other one may
fail due to an inconsistent state of transaction. Two phase commit protocol is widely used to solve
this.
The 2 phase commit (2PC) protocol is a distributed algorithm to ensure the consistent termination of
a transaction in a distributed environment.
This protocol has two phases, the prepare and the commit phase. The protocol is executed by a
coordinator process, while the participating servers are called participants. When the transaction s
initiator issues a request to commit the transaction, the coordinator starts the first phase.
The coordinator initiates the first phase of the protocol by sending PREPARE messages in
parallel to all the participants. Each participant that is ready to commit first force writes a
prepare log record to its local stable storage and then sends a YES vote to the coordinator. On the
other hand, each participant that decides to abort force writes an abort log record and sends a NO
vote to the

Essay On The Cost Of Working In High School
Over the past few years, colleges around the globe have started to become more expensive to
afford for a fresh new year for high school graduates. The total costing including school loans,
supplies, dorms, current programs all lead to an average of $30,000 to $60,000 a year to be exact.
That would result to some impossibility to have for some students who currently didn t get jobs
during their earlier high schooleducationto save up. Most students today in the United States
thinking they re finally free from school aka prison they call it after throwing their graduation
caps in the air on their final day. The problem is that they have to go into the workforce to save up
for collegeor just to work in general for money. Around the 1980s to 1990s, looking for a job or
college to have wasn t easy but more were available and cheap compared to reality. Students don t

Today s researchers have claimed that high school graduates around the world may not be as
ready for the workforce as they think they are. Students who prefer to go to college for a hands
on education after their high school career are considered to be on top learners. Formally, an on
top learner can be defined as a person at a course of study, such as school who has passed the
usual age for formal education. In a recent study conducted by James E. Rosenbaum, it was
discovered that many employers or managers in today s world don t trust high school diplomas for
certain jobs (Rosenbaum). Knowing this, high school teachers or guidance counselors are able to
develop a variety of suggestions during the mid education of students to go to college immediately
after graduation, depending on what he/she would want to do for their own future. Unfortunately,
this way to get the idea of

Beauty Parlor Lindahl Analysis
For most of human history, literature, both fiction and poetry, has been narrated, not written heard,
not read. So fairy tales, folk tales, stories from the oral tradition, are all of them the most vital
connection we have with the imaginations of the ordinary men and women whose labor created our
world. (Angela Carter) My Grandmother Fowler epitomized the characterization of an ordinary
Southern, hardworking, farm woman. She was thin, brown from the sun even though she always
wore long sleeves outside, and always dresses as her religion dictated. Her hair was steel grey, and
would have reached her waist if she hadn t made the weekly trip to Ms. Rose Tully s Beauty
Parlor to have her hair washed and pulled up into a lacquered bun.... Show more content on

(Lindahl, page 8) Lindahl provides a journey of North American Folklorists who were equally
quick to ignore and accept the demise of North American Märchen, but yet discovered the
genre lived a healthy life in certain cultures of the country. Lindahl confirms that earliest
academic folklorist were biased toward finding and recording ballads. His view is that academia
left the folk tales research to those outside their academic circles while they pursued the more
socially acceptable goal of ballads. (Lindahl, 11) The primary researchers of North American
Märchen, per Lindahl, were Vance Randolph, Leonard Roberts, and Richard Chase. While
Randolph did hold an advanced degree in Psychology, he was rejected by the academic world of
folklorists because of his interest in Märchen. Lindahl quotes Randolph regarding a rejection of
his proposal to Columbia University for a study of oral traditions because (they) were interested in
Indians and Eskimos, and blacks... It seemed to me ridiculous. I was interested in white mountain
people (Lindahl, 12). Randolph continued his passion and work, immersing himself in the Ozarks,
but his academic recognition was only obtained at the age of eighty six with his becoming a Fellow
of the American Folklore Society. (Lindahl,

Summary Of How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents
Julia Alvarez is a famous author from the Dominican Republic. She is most known for winning the
PEN Oakland/Josephine Miles book award in 1991 for her novel How the Garcia Girls Lost Their
Accents (Barth). Alvarez s Dominican background and her immigration to the United States
influenced her writing, especially in the novel How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents.
Alvarez was born in New York in 1950 but lived the first ten years of her life in the Dominican
Republic. At the time, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina, a ruthless tyrant, held a dictatorship over
the Dominican Republic (Barth). How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents takes place at the time
of this dictatorship. Alvarez s father was involved in a plot to overthrow Rafael Trujilloand moved
his family back to New York when it failed (Barth). This abrupt uprooting was a culture shock to
Alvarez who was used to the traditional Dominican culture (Shuman). In her novel How the Garcia
Girls Lost Their Accents, Alvarez describes the struggles that result when children are uprooted
from their Dominican culture.
How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents explores the complications four sisters face when trying to
immerse themselves in American culture. This includes religion, language barriers, fitting in at
American schools, physical appearance, and family dynamics. Alvarez writes about many of the
same struggles she faced during her own cultural transition.
In both Alvarez s and the Garcia sisters experience, learning the

The Great Commission To Worship
Introduction Evangelism could be described briefly as proclaiming God s heart to the people
who lived without standards of truth. Evangelism with the heart of God is being based upon
worshipping God and glorifying God as well. Worshipping God is means to rejoice in God and
to reveal Jesus in one s life.1 Authors David Wheeler and Vernon M. Whaley in The Great
Commission to God book have emphasized the importance of Worship to the reader in order for
Christian to become a great commission worshipper. Authors have asserted that the top points in
the book are worship and evangelism. These are a matter of cardinal importance to Believers who
desire to live God s will and way. Because God created us for glorifying him and worshipping him,

Because human beings who were made for fellowship with God as well.6 I could get a chance to
learn through chapter 8 which mentioned the missional life, worshipping life, and evangelical
life of relationship. Ultimately, these lives have to be one life for glorifying God such as Paul,
Isaiah, and Daniel. This book has Discussion Questions at the end of each chapter for discussing
with each other. This is a great benefit for the learner. Through these questions, I had a
meditation time for living the better life that God wants. I was not only able to fix my evil habit
and pattern, but I was able to widen the width of deep thought. In my opinion, it will be
informative and very entertaining to share with each other in class or small group meeting
regarding Discussion Questions . The Teaching of mission chapter in this book was a great
impressive chapter for me. The authors referred to John piper, who mentioned mission which is
ultimate goal of the church.7 The ultimate goal of the church is to glorify God and to worship
God and then making disciples and sending disciples to the place where there is no worship.
Actually I want to be a missionary to go to unreached group for worshiping God because God
loves them. I will be keeping mind to continue in this teaching. Conclusion I desire to be a great
commission worshipper, as the authors mentioned the hands and feet of Christ to the

Although there appears to be multiple benefits to allowing mining on Navajo land, the majority
of them are not in favor of people of who reside there. One of the major benefits resulting from
mining is the increase in employment opportunities, which is in the opening of the article when a
resident discusses how under a shady tree, they offered steady work at union wages, (Rowe). As
the article continues, benefit of jobs appears to be only positive outcome for Navajo inhabitants,
while people who live in other regions benefit from the mining. The author of the article, Claudia
Rowe, talks about how the coal is for cheap electricity for much of the residential and business
development in the Southwest . The emphasis of the positive effects of mining on Navajo land and
people show how the benefits they receive are practically nothing comparing to the benefits of
those not residing in Navajo

The Impact Of The 1893 Columbian Exposition
A Nation Reborn By the closing years of the 19th century The United States of America Stood
before the world as a divided nation in the ruins of a deadly civil war. After years of tragedy and
hardship it was time for the US to turn a new leaf and start a new chapter of prosperity. To
accomplish such, America s greatest minds were tasked to construct a fair so magnificent, it
would not only usher in a new age of American civilization but establish the foundation of the
urban world. Although the 1893 Columbian Exposition barely turned for a profit, finance is one
of the myriad of factors in determining whether the Fair truly was the transitional event sparking
the rise of a global superpower. Aspects such as economic, political and social impacts are key
factors in determining overall influence. In summary, the 1893 Columbian Exposition was a
watershed event in US history to a great extent due to its impacts on the social and political scale
despite its economic shortcomings. Starting off with the social legacy, the 1893 Columbian
Exposition had a lasting impact on American culture. The Fair accomplished such by influencing
the thoug|h }+ts, ideas and lives of millions of americans. Larson writes they saw even more

Alaskan Peas Lab Report
Alaskan Pea Pod Experiment INTRO Paragraph 1: The Alaskan pea (Pisum Sativum) is an
annual plant or a plant that occurs once a year. Another common name is a garden pea. Since
alaskan peas are plants they require water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide to do photosynthesis.
Since Alaskan peas are annual they usually happen around the cool months. Peas are a cool
season vegetable, and do best in a climate where there are two months of cool growing weather,
either spring planting in the northern regions or fall planting in the warmer, southern regions.
(Veggie Harvest).Peas grow up to 3 4 feet tall and are hardy to frost and light freezes. Alaskan
Peas take 8 to 10 days to germinate and 52 days to fully mature. (Veggie Harvest.) Paragraph 2:
Plants need specific conditions to grow. In this experiment plant will be put in hypertonic
solutions. Three out of the six plant will be watered with a salt and water solutions. Watering the
plants in the solution will place them in a hypertonic solutions, making the water leave the cells to
diffuse (in this case) the salt. Photosynthesis is the process in which plants use water, carbon

  • 2. Psy 270 Week 5 Case Study Donovan For starters, one of the first measures that I would use as a means to intervene with Donovan would be something as simple as a phone call. According to the text, this is something that should be approached with caution, simply because, the client feeling that they are there for a quick fix, become lax, and wait for the clinician to pass judgement (Miller, Forechimes, Zweben, 2011). With this taken into consideration, I would gradually start to introduce the basic screening questions and set up an appointment time and location so that Donovan and I can meet and get this process started. I feel like with this particular approach it would more than likely provide him with the motivation to participate in the evaluation process. Would you agree?... • 7. The Relationship Between Art And The Renaissance Art The connection between art and science is one of the most characteristic features of the Renaissance culture. The truthful image of the world and man had to be based on their knowledge, so the cognitive beginning played an especially important role in the art of this time. Naturally, the artists sought support in the sciences, often stimulating their development. The Renaissance is a time of great discoveries, great masters and their outstanding works. It is marked by the appearance of a whole galaxy of artists scientists, among whom Leonardo da Vinciis the first. Fine art in the Renaissance reaches unprecedented heyday. This is due to the economic upsurge, with a huge shift that has occurred in the minds of people who have turned to the cult of earthly life and beauty. The visual art of the Renaissance in many ways represents a contrast to the medieval. It marks the emergence of realism for a long time determined the development of European artistic culture. This affected not only the spread of secular images, the development of portrait and landscape or a new, sometimes almost genre interpretation of religious subjects, but also in the radical renewal of the entire artistic system. In the Renaissance, an objective image of the world was seen by the eyes of a man, so one of the important problems facing artists was the problem of space. In Italy, already in the first half of the century, a scientific theory of linear perspective based on geometry and optics was created. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is his story and I want to respect that ultimately any changes made to the material would be changing his vision, and because of this I would like to give him more creative license over the film. He also currently still owns the rights to the material and I believe that he will be more likely to hand them over to someone if he is promised a say in the final product. It seems that one of the main reasons authors do not sell the rights to their material, is because they are concerned about not having any creative license in the final product. • 11. Pastor Burnout Introduction Pastors, also commonly referred to as ministers, or clergy, entering the church ministry profession largely attribute their vocational choice to a sense of calling (Beebe, 2007; Dodd, 2012; Lee, 2010; Meek, McKinn, Brower, Burnett, 2003; Oleson, 2011). Calling within a pastoral context can be defined as an obligation to live out a mission, set by God, to work for a purpose other than one s own (Dodd, 2012). Evidently, regardless of the preceding foundational objective to their professional choice, studies show a high attrition rate amongst pastors, due to stress and burnout (Beebe, 2007; Dodds, 2012; Krejcir, 2007). Stress is an event or a series of events that lead to strain, which can result in physical and psychological health problems (Corey, et al., 2015, p. 58). Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual depletion characterized by feelings of helplessness and hopelessness (Corey, et al., 2015, p. 60). A study by Francis A. There are about 400,000 teen births every year in the U.S, with about 9 billion in associated public costs. STI contraction in general, as well as teen pregnancy, have put the subject even more so on the forefront of the nation s leading issues. Other supporters think that sex education should not deviate from other teachings of other health curricula such as drunk driving, tobacco use, drug use, alcohol consumption, gun use, fighting; all things which are taught to just not do (Collins, Alagira, and Summers 12 13). They believe that it is the responsibility of a public institution which serves kids to teach them risk avoidance rather than harm reduction ( WebMD: Better Information. Better Health ). Many advocates for abstinence only education believe that its message is strongly intertwined with traditional values and religious faith; both of which they claim to have measurable influence in preventing teens from having sex (Collins, Alagira, and Summers 12 13). Christian conservative women believe that comprehensive sex education would encourage sexual activity and lesbianism, as well as undercut marriage and create social decay (Fields 24). Proponents for abstinence only education believe that the abstinence only message has contributed to the decline of adolescent sexual activity as well as negative related outcomes. Christianity has been watered down to be more acceptable by the masses. Doctrine and dogma are no longer of primary importance. Without the teaching of the fundamental tenets, Christ is a caricature of a sympathetic big brother figure, holding to the form of godliness but denying its power (2 Tim. 3:5, HCSB). Much of what the unsaved American society knows of Christ is what is presented at Christmas. Therefore, the birth of the Savior, and the gifts given at the holiday are what is remembered. The Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation, from alpha to omega, in every jot and tittle, testify of Christ Jesus. The miracle of the God who became flesh, and lived among men. He was from God, He was God; eternal and divine. He became the servant to be obedient to God, and thereby loved both God and mankind (Phil. 2:6 8). This is not the Jesus on Christmas cards. Neither is it the Jesus who is only historical (Elwell 241), or only a spirit (Elwell 242) it is the God Man fully able to be the author and finisher of [the] faith (Heb. 12:4, KJV). You can see more than the children just having fun, but you may witness any strengths and/or weaknesses in personality, learning or interactive abilities. By observing children I was able to learn their developmental level, such as who the leader of the group was or what leaders were in competition to lead the play session. Thus observing the children interact I could learn a lot about their respective personalities. From my observation, the child that was obviously in charge of this group had either an older sibling, relative or perhaps was mimicking what he saw on television by directing and giving instruction to the other children who were playing with him. In the game of organized basketball there is one leader on the court for each team. That leader is normally the point guard position. The child may already possess the personality of being a leader, but he had to observe and learn the other details he exuded by watching what he had seen in live action or by television. I can personally relate to this theory the most because in retrospect I realize that a great deal of my behavioral learning was developed through observation. Before Taser International, Jack Cover invented the TF 76 in the mid 1970s. It is now considered the primary source of the modern CED or CEW s. The TF 76 originally fired two darts that were propelled by gunpowder to reach a target up to 15 feet away. The TF 76 was initially viewed as a dangerous weapon that was severely restricted resulting in a barrier of entry into many markets including that of the law enforcement agencies. However, in 1998 the CEO of Taser International introduced the M26 as the next new product. As supported by the information in the advertisements found on the homepage of Taser International the M26 was a model far more superior to any Taser model since its invention. The M26 was viewed as an enormous breakthrough because it provided Electro Muscular Disruption (EMD) which instigated an involuntary muscle contraction within the subject. However, the latest model being the X26 was developed to address the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Distributed Database Systems This paper discussed the Distributed database systems which are systems that have their data distributed and replicated over several locations; unlike the centralized data base system, where one copy of the data is stored in one location. the Distributed database system has many advantages: 1.Availability of the data in case of failure. 2.Parallelism: queries may be processed by several nodes in parallel. 3.Reduced data transfer. It also has some disadvantages: 1.A distributed system usually exhibits more complexity and cost more than a centralized one. 2.Handling security across several locations is more complicated. Types of DDBMS: 1 Homogeneous DDBMS a.All sites use same DBMS product (eg. Oracle) b.Fairly easy to design and manage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Communication Failures: failures in the communication system between two or more sites. The 2 phase commit (2PC) protocol: The major issue in building a distributed database system is the transactions atomicity. When a transaction runs across into two sites, it may happen that one site may commit and other one may fail due to an inconsistent state of transaction. Two phase commit protocol is widely used to solve this. The 2 phase commit (2PC) protocol is a distributed algorithm to ensure the consistent termination of a transaction in a distributed environment. This protocol has two phases, the prepare and the commit phase. The protocol is executed by a coordinator process, while the participating servers are called participants. When the transaction s initiator issues a request to commit the transaction, the coordinator starts the first phase. The coordinator initiates the first phase of the protocol by sending PREPARE messages in parallel to all the participants. Each participant that is ready to commit first force writes a prepare log record to its local stable storage and then sends a YES vote to the coordinator. On the other hand, each participant that decides to abort force writes an abort log record and sends a NO vote to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The total costing including school loans, supplies, dorms, current programs all lead to an average of $30,000 to $60,000 a year to be exact. That would result to some impossibility to have for some students who currently didn t get jobs during their earlier high schooleducationto save up. Most students today in the United States thinking they re finally free from school aka prison they call it after throwing their graduation caps in the air on their final day. The problem is that they have to go into the workforce to save up for collegeor just to work in general for money. Today s researchers have claimed that high school graduates around the world may not be as ready for the workforce as they think they are. Students who prefer to go to college for a hands on education after their high school career are considered to be on top learners. Formally, an on top learner can be defined as a person at a course of study, such as school who has passed the usual age for formal education. In a recent study conducted by James E. Rosenbaum, it was discovered that many employers or managers in today s world don t trust high school diplomas for certain jobs (Rosenbaum). Knowing this, high school teachers or guidance counselors are able to develop a variety of suggestions during the mid education of students to go to college immediately after graduation, depending on what he/she would want to do for their own future. • 41. Beauty Parlor Lindahl Analysis For most of human history, literature, both fiction and poetry, has been narrated, not written heard, not read. So fairy tales, folk tales, stories from the oral tradition, are all of them the most vital connection we have with the imaginations of the ordinary men and women whose labor created our world. (Angela Carter) My Grandmother Fowler epitomized the characterization of an ordinary Southern, hardworking, farm woman. She was thin, brown from the sun even though she always wore long sleeves outside, and always dresses as her religion dictated. Her hair was steel grey, and would have reached her waist if she hadn t made the weekly trip to Ms. Rose Tully s Beauty Parlor to have her hair washed and pulled up into a lacquered bun.... Lindahl confirms that earliest academic folklorist were biased toward finding and recording ballads. His view is that academia left the folk tales research to those outside their academic circles while they pursued the more socially acceptable goal of ballads. (Lindahl, 11) The primary researchers of North American MГ¤rchen, per Lindahl, were Vance Randolph, Leonard Roberts, and Richard Chase. While Randolph did hold an advanced degree in Psychology, he was rejected by the academic world of folklorists because of his interest in MГ¤rchen. Lindahl quotes Randolph regarding a rejection of his proposal to Columbia University for a study of oral traditions because (they) were interested in Indians and Eskimos, and blacks... It seemed to me ridiculous. I was interested in white mountain people (Lindahl, 12). This is a great benefit for the learner. Through these questions, I had a meditation time for living the better life that God wants. I was not only able to fix my evil habit and pattern, but I was able to widen the width of deep thought. In my opinion, it will be informative and very entertaining to share with each other in class or small group meeting regarding Discussion Questions . The Teaching of mission chapter in this book was a great impressive chapter for me. The authors referred to John piper, who mentioned mission which is ultimate goal of the church.7 The ultimate goal of the church is to glorify God and to worship God and then making disciples and sending disciples to the place where there is no worship. Actually I want to be a missionary to go to unreached group for worshiping God because God loves them. I will be keeping mind to continue in this teaching. Another common name is a garden pea. Since alaskan peas are plants they require water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide to do photosynthesis. Since Alaskan peas are annual they usually happen around the cool months. Peas are a cool season vegetable, and do best in a climate where there are two months of cool growing weather, either spring planting in the northern regions or fall planting in the warmer, southern regions. (Veggie Harvest).Peas grow up to 3 4 feet tall and are hardy to frost and light freezes. Alaskan Peas take 8 to 10 days to germinate and 52 days to fully mature. (Veggie Harvest.) Paragraph 2: Plants need specific conditions to grow. In this experiment plant will be put in hypertonic solutions. Three out of the six plant will be watered with a salt and water solutions. Watering the plants in the solution will place them in a hypertonic solutions, making the water leave the cells to diffuse (in this case) the salt.
