Short And Long Term Goals Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Short and Long Term Goals" presents a multifaceted
challenge that requires a delicate balance of introspection, strategic planning, and effective
communication. The difficulty lies not only in articulating one's aspirations but also in providing
a coherent narrative that seamlessly integrates short-term objectives with their long-term
counterparts.
The process begins with a thorough self-analysis, demanding a deep dive into personal
ambitions, passions, and the steps necessary to translate dreams into reality. This introspective
journey is both time-consuming and emotionally taxing, as it necessitates a genuine
understanding of oneself and a clear vision of the future.
Moreover, delineating short-term goals requires meticulous attention to detail, as these objectives
serve as the stepping stones toward the overarching, long-term vision. Each short-term goal
must be logically connected to the next, forming a cohesive roadmap that propels the individual
toward their ultimate destination. Balancing ambition with pragmatism is a tightrope walk, as the
essay must reflect a realistic approach to goal-setting while showcasing the tenacity to overcome
challenges.
Communication skills are paramount throughout the essay, as the ability to articulate aspirations,
outline plans, and express personal growth is central to its success. Striking the right tone —
one that is motivational yet grounded — is an art in itself. Achieving this balance involves
careful consideration of language, structure, and the overall narrative arc.
In essence, writing a compelling "Short and Long Term Goals" essay requires more than just
linguistic proficiency; it demands a nuanced understanding of oneself, strategic thinking, and the
ability to convey a persuasive vision for the future. It is a task that delves into the intricacies of
personal and professional development, demanding both introspection and foresight.

Compare And Contrast Mccandless And Timothy Treadwell
Change make us feel alive because it is the essence of every living thing. Chris
MacCandless and Timothy Treadwell desperately needed a change in their lives in
order to escape from their past unpleasant experiences and problems and they found
their solution in the wilderness. Leaving the human word of comfortable excesses
and surrendering their fates to natureempowered them to gain back a feeling of
control over their lives. When your life is under a constant threat and you push
yourself to your limits trying to survive in the wild, you start looking at many things
differently than in normal circumstances. Wildernesscan be a perfect place to find a
peace in your mind and help you find your answers, but it is also a dangerous place

Why Is The Holocaust Successful
Allied powers found the horrors of the Holocaust more obvious at every
concentration camp liberated. Evidence of genocide could still be found despite
Nazis forces attempt to destroy evidence supporting their acts of murder. Hitler was
not successful in wiping out the Jews in Europe, and many Jews were able to return
home. One thing is certain: the total population of the Jewish people has be
considerably reduced , and many Jewsdid not know where to return home after
World War II. On May 21st, 1945 Helga and her mother finally departed on a train
from Mauthausen to head home. Eight days later, they returned home to a place they
were never supposed to see again, Prague. Having nowhere to go, Helga and her

Flexible Li-Ion Batteries Essay
Flexible Li ion batteries (LIBs) have a strong oncoming consumer market demand for
use in wearable electronic devices, flexible smart electronics, roll up displays,
electronic shelf labels, active radio frequency identification tags, and implantable
medical devices. This market demand necessitates research and development of
flexible LIBs in order to fulfill the power requirements of these next generation
devices. One of the main areas of research and development of high performance
flexible LIBs is the active and inactive materials used in manufacturing these batteries.
Active materials are those materials used in the battery electrodes that can store
lithium ions in their structure. The remaining materials used in manufacturing flexible

As explained by IDTech Ex report that the flexible electronics market will reach
over $76 billion by 2023[1],while the market for flexible, thin, stretchable and
bendable batteries will grow to become about $471 million industry by 2026[2].
Additionally, the product is considered the most promising energy storage device
with low carbon dioxide emission. The energy density of the lithium ion battery
range between 120 170 Wh Kg 1 and 250 380 Wh l 1 more higher than Ni Cd and
Lead acid[3]. LIB has three major electronically active components namely anode,
electrolyte, and cathode. The anode is the negative electrode that releases electrons
into an external circuit during a discharge process that involves the oxidation of
chemical reactions. On the other hand, the cathode is the positive electrode that is
reduced during a reaction. Notably, the lithium ions are stored within the cathode
after a cell is discharged. Both cathode and anode stores energy while on charge, and
releases it on discharge[4]. Cathode materials have relatively high electrochemical
potentials while anode materials have low potentials. This design approach helps
maximize the battery s output voltage. The final active component of the LIB is the
electrolyte. It is a mixture of a set of organic solvents containing disassociated lithium
salts that enables Li+ transportation between the anode and the cathode. Besides,
other complementary components, such as current collectors attached to the
A Sunrise On The Veld Poem Analysis
How Two Completely Different Stories Can Have So Many Similarities
The short stories, A Sunrise on the Veld and At the Pitt Rivers , have nothing in
common if you analyze them on a shallow literature level. A Sunrise on the Veld by
Doris Lessing, highlights some of the reasons why life is so valuable. Lessing hints
her readers that this short story is set somewhere in the desert by, ... the flesh of his
soles contracted on the chilled earth, and his legs began to ache with cold... He
slung the shoes over his shoulder... they would be necessary when the ground
became too hot to bear, (Lessing, pg. 1212). Most deserts get heated by the sun by
day, but loses the heat at night. The boy starts hunting, at first, but then is distracted
by a wounded buck. Seeing this buck suffer, depicts him especially sad. A boy is also
the protagonist in At the Pitt Rivers by Penelope Lively. This boy spends his time in
a museum, observing people and writing poems as the time passes. He keeps track of
a couple he sees at the museum. The couple catches his attention because they are not
his ideal of what a couple should look like. If a kindergartener read these two short
stories, he/she would find nothing in common with the stories. But, if the reader has
the ability to analyze the text in more depth, he/she would find that they are more
similar than the kindergartener would think.
As an advanced reader, a comparison that is prevalent in both stories is, society s
thinking of the ideal
Uglies By Scott Westerfeld Essay
In the science fiction novel, Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, the author writes a story
about a girl named Tally Youngblood. She lives an a diverse society where after the
age of 16, you become pretty and are given plastic surgery and entirely change your
appearance and lifestyle. Westerfeld writes primarily science fictionnovels along with
young adult books. Ugliesis the first novelin a series with three more following.
This story takes place in a futuristic time period. It is in a world both different and
alike from ours. The main characters are Tally, a curious person who can take on
anything, Shay, a fiery, rebellious young woman, and their best friend David. Read
this book to follow Tally, Shay and David on their journeys throughout the story. One
unique composenet about this book is it s conflict and conflict development. The

We learned this when the author showed how in the beginning of the story, Tally
wanted to be just like everyone else; pretty. Westerfeld showed this on page 89, I
don t want to be ugly all my life. I want those perfect eyes and lips, and for
everyone to look at me gasp. And for everyone who sees me to think Who s that.
This shows that she would give anything to blend in with society. However, Tally
changed and became a better person by the end on page 267. She clutched the
pendant, squeezing in the unyielding metal until her muscles ached, as if forcing into
her own mind the almost unthinkable fact that she might really remain an ugly for
life. But somehow not ugly at all. She opened her hand and threw the necklace into
the center of the fire. This shows how much Tally changed because she didn t want to
be pretty anymore. She understood that it is okay to be different and she made the
decision that staying ugly is the right thing to do. She wanted to be
Through The Tunnel Doris Lessing Analysis
Rocks are universal symbols of strength and stability, but a small percentile of
people would disagree. Doris Lessing would fit into the few, as rocks in her short
story, Through the Tunnel , are associated with modifications and instability. The
main character, Jerry s initial goal is to travel through a tunnel in order to fit in with
the older and cooler kids. Throughout his journey, he encounters or utilises rocks in
three different instances. He uses rocks to weigh himself down during training, he
finds rocks scattered across the white ocean floor, and he is met with sharp rocks as
he travels through the tunnel. Doris Lessings message of not letting society change
oneself is illustrated through Jerry s usage of rocks to accomplish certain... Show

Jerry describes these rocks as sharp and pained his back (Lessing 372 373). The
sharpness and pain associated with the rocks could be related to Jerry s initial goal
to fit in with the cool, big boys, and in the process, had to alter himself. He didn t
feel himself which could be related to pain. Additionally, being molded to fit
someone else s standards can be a painful process. As he continues swimming through
the tunnel, he was being continually pressed against the sharp roof (Lessing, 383
384). Being continually pressed is representative of society s relentlessness and
stubbornness. To escape this pressure takes a strong individual, and after one is
comfortable with themselves, they can accomplish great things. Jerry was able to
grow into his own self and use self motivation to accomplish a great task, going
through the tunnel. Lessing uses the negative connotation around the sharpness of
the rocks to convey her message that conformity is harmful and painful, an atrocious
thing to go
Anne Rice Goth Sub Culture
enowned books that embrace Goth sub culture is Re imagining of the vampire of
1976, which was written by Anne Rice (Jung, and Lee 2014, pg22). Rice portrays
the characters in her book as people who torment themselves, struggle with
alienation, and are always lonely. Moreover, the characters in Rice s work portray the
world that is surreal and focuses on uncovering the splendor of it. Notably, the
attitudes of the characters are Gothic. The post modern literature by Rice which is
mostly Vampire novels demonstrates intense emotions, a presence of periodic
clothing and the decay of culture (Fauquet Alekhine 2016, pg9). The vampires in
Rice s literature are monsters who are socially alienated, but the monsters are

However, the assumption made was based on the self profession of love to Goth
sub culture by the involved gunman Kimveer Singh Gill (Jung, and Lee 2014,
pg23). According to the media, the use of the term Goth by Gill in his writings
referred to an alternative industrial or a Goth sub culture, as opposed to alluding to
the music of, Gothic rock style (Tosh 2015, pg 17). Notably, Gill committed
suicide after he executed the gun attack and wrote an online journal, where he
openly talked about being sick of listening to people making jokes along with
preps that make the life of Goths hard, along with other people who appear as
different from the majority (Fauquet Alekhine 2016, pg10). Furthermore, Gill
termed himself as an angel of death and also bragged that metal along with Goth is
the ones that kick ass (Tosh 2015, pg 17). However, the claims were later disputed by
Mick Mercer, who talked of Gill as a person who strongly listened purely to metal
music (Jung, and Lee 2014,
Letter From Birmingham Jail Thesis
On April 16, 1963, shortly after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was sent to jail, for
public protests against segregation, he wrote the Letters from the Birmingham Jail.
The letters from the Birmingham Jail played a monumental role during the Civil
Rights Movement, and were crucial to ending segregation in America. During his
time in jail, Dr. King Jr, received letters from critics who were questioning his
methods and timing of his public protest during the Civil Rights Movements. The
letters from the Birmingham Jail were addressed to these critics. They defended Dr
King Jr s non violent protests, and criticized the cities disciplinary acts of violence
toward protesters. The Letters from the Birmingham Jail had a heavy influence on
segregation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Jr. continued to endure the hardships, he would soon find out that he would
be rewarded for his perseverance, when society was soon affected in a positive
way. During the protests police ordered violent acts to stop the protesters and many
protesters were jailed. The violent police acts were shown on television. The actions
taken horrified many Americans (Marazani 3). Since the unjust acts were finally
being televised, citizens of the United States, were now actually seeing and realizing
the cruel actions that were being taken against protesters, by American officers. Now
that America was finally realizing the harsh acts against African American
protestors, Dr. King Jr s goal of ending segregation was almost accomplished by
making the problem known throughout America. Since all of America now knew
about the brutality that police were enforcing against African Americans, there was
an outrage and an agreement was reached and employers agreed to desegregate
public places, and employ African Americans (Birmingham 3). Therefore the
demonstrations finally came to an end now that Dr King Jr s goal had finally been
achieved. Dr. King Jr. and the protests had successfully desegregated the city of
Birmingham, as well as achieving rights of equality for African Americans. However
this would not have been possible without the Letters from the Birmingham
MP3 Piracy Essay

TOPIC PARAGRAPH:
The trading of MP3 s or digital music over the Internet is all ways going to be
prevalent part of the music industry, and is an unrealistic goal to try to control. The
cost of controlling the piracy issues over the Internet would cost record companies
more money than what they are losing due to MP3 trading. The record industry is
trying to fight the major sites and companies in court with copyright suits. Quinlan
states Although downloading music over the Internet and playing it back on
computer or portable digital music players has become increasingly popular, major
record labels have been slow to embrace distribution over the Web because of the

The main legal controversy involved with MP3 file s is that they are being traded
around the Internet without the artist consent of the artist or record companies.
Kimmel (1997) states the following:
It seem obvious that the use of MP3 technology does not for the most part, meet the
requirements, set by the Copyright Law of 1976, to clam fair use for educational
purposes.
These arguments can include protection gaps, where copyright treaties only protect
material for a certain amount of time, thus making produced and distributed after this
gap has expired legal. Another legal justification of bootleg recordings is that the
copyright is not owned by the artist, publisher, or record company, though this
defense has not been as successful as the protection gap defense.
This is what is making it easy for sites to be around such as MP3.com and programs
such as
Napster.

Analysing Moral and Ethical Issues in Queen V. Dudley
and...
Analysing Moral and Ethical Issues of the Queen v. Dudley and Stephens.
Moral and ethical issues In the case of the Queen v. Dudley and Stephens, there
were several moral and ethical issues. I will explain them in this section using facts
from Prof Michael Sandel s video, the cited case, and a book titled Cannibalism and
common law: a Victorian yachting tragedy by Alfred Bryan William Simpson. First,
on the 23th of July, Dudley first suggested that someone should be sacrificed to save
the other 3. That someone referred to the Richard Parker and he was not consulted.
Why? Although Brooks rejected the idea and no actions were followed up, it marked
the start of an intention to kill. Second, on the 24th of July, Dudley proposed to ...

Nonetheless, eating someone s flesh and blood is somewhat morally wrong. Even if
it is necessary, it only makes it less wrong, but never categorical imperative. Hence,
based on the philosophy of categorical imperative, like what Brooks had said earlier,
everyone would have died on that faithful yacht. The other way is self cannibalism.
Each of them could have feed on their own limbs, but this would further risk their
weak body and it might be fatal due to excessive loss of blood or infection.
Here, I will discuss on what other alternatives which seem more categorical
imperative than Utilitarianism.
Dudley could have proposed the casting of lots to all crew on the 23rd July, instead
of excluding Parker. Since casting of lots involved all of them, Parker should have
been at least consulted. While Brooks dissented in the end and whether or not
Parker would have agreed or disagree to the casting of lots, at least it was an
opportunity for Parker to voice his opinion. Asking Parker for consent to take his
life away for the others to feed on could wind up in a different ways. If Parker
agreed, then it would seem less morally right, similar to euthanasia. If Parker
dissented to sacrificing his life in spite of Dudley trying to convince him of the
others having families, based on philosophy of Utilitarianism, I would think that
Dudley would have still carried on and kill Parker. If Parker assented, but change his
mind in the end, he would
The Battle Between Grendel And Beowulf
Carl Van Clausewitz once said, Courage, above all things, is the first quality of a
warrior. In a culture where being a warrior is a very integral part of everyday lives,
having courage is a key component of social survival. To have courage means to be
able to defend a kingdom by every means possible. It means protecting and
ascertaining the wellbeing of the people within one s own kingdom. And above all,
courage means remaining loyal to one s king, regardless of the circumstance. This is
the warriorculture that Beowulfin Beowulf was a part of successfully as a thane, and
the same warrior culture that leads the narrator in The Wanderer to lament past
memories. In Beowulf, the fight between Grendeland Beowulf was certainly a nail
biter. In this fight, however, Beowulf shows his courage by doing his absolute best
at defending the kingdom by taking on this gruesome monster. Grendel was
wreaking havoc on the kingdom to no end. He was killing many and terrorizing the
citizens greatly. When Beowulf heard of this, as a courageous thane, he stepped in
to try to stop this and protect the people. Hygelac s kinsman kept [Grendel]
helplessly locked in a handgrip. As long as either lived, he was hateful to the other.
The monster s whole body was in pain; a tremendous wound appeared on his
shoulder. Sinews split and the bone lappings burst. Beowulf was granted the glory of
winning; Grendel was driven under the fen banks, fatally hurt, to his desolate lair

The Second Battle Of Fallujah
The Second Battle of Fallujah was fought during November and December of
2004. The U.S. Marine Corps against insurgents that had taken over the city of
Fallujah led the battle. The Second Battle of Fallujah was a joint offensive operation
that included the American, British, and Iraqi forces. The Second Battle of Fallujah
was also known as Operation Phantom Fury and code named Operation Al Fajr,
which is Arabic for the dawn . Operation Phantom Fury was the second major
operation in the city of Fallujah, following the First Battle of Fallujah, which took
place in April of 2004. During the first battle, the coalition forces fought into the city
and the Iraqi government requested that the control of the city be transferred to an
Iraqi local security force. Operation Phantom Fury was the deadliest battle of the
Iraq War, and was fought mainly against insurgents. Both battles in Fallujah forced
the military as a whole to improve on its military operations on urbanized terrain
(MOUT).
The Second Battle of Fallujah was fought during OIF 2 (Operation Iraqi Freedom).
Operation Iraqi Freedom 2 began at about March April 2004 and lasted until
February March 2005. The Second Battle of Fallujah began 7 November 2004 and
ended 23 December 2004. The objective of the operation was to capture or kill those
responsible for murders and, corrupt activities, and end the rise of the insurgency in
the city. The intent of the operation was to restore control of
My PE Experience
My PE experience I would like to think was different and special. For maybe 60% of
the year, I was injured due to my sports. I had a torn quad from soccer for 2 months
and then a concussion from skiing for 5 months. Because of those injuries, I wasn
t able to participate in class so that gave me a lot of time to reflect, observe and
learn from my peers from the view of an outsider. For once in my life, I was not
caught up in everything and got to take a step back and really look at what was
going on. This I think helped me the most when forming my character. When I had
a torn quad in the fall I was allowed to come to the classes and watch. This was fun
yet really frustrating for me because I love rope courses; I love being in the air, the
risk and, the freedom of it because you can never fall when you re in the air. This
really helped me realize all of what I was and should be thankful for in my life. I
know I only had a torn quad but it helped me understand what it must be like to not
be born with a limb or live your life in a wheelchair or be born with an extra
chromosome. It sort of empowered me to become nicer and adapt myself to those
kids because I could now see how strong their personalities must really be because
they live life knowing that they can never do the things that I can do so easily yet
put on a great face and love their life. Another thing I was really clearly able to see
now was how my classmates were treating each other or how they all worked

The Baghdad battery was the foundation of this project and Baghdad batteries were
built by Ancient Parathions. There is still no exact proof on where the Parathions
were able to use it since there were no wires found for the electric current to flow.
The battery is composed of a clay pot, a copper tube enclosing a half inch metal tube
and an asphalt stopper as a resistor. Inside the clay, there is a solution which contains
electrolytes such as vinegars and juice. Scholars found out that the Parathions first
ferment their wine as so that the wine will contain more free ions. And the copper
tube together with the metal tube helps the electric current flow. Recent pioneering

It was 8 o clock in the morning when we boarded the plane for Hawaii. My parents
were waiting for this trip for a long time. Mom was a flight attendant that was
based in Hawaii, and Dad was living here while doing collage. We have never been
on a trip like this before. We have gone on car trips, but never on a plane. As we
were boarding the plane my brother, Lowden and I were in awe of what we saw.
There was a tunnel leading to the plane with little windows you could look outside
with. It was a rainy day outside, and with little drops of water just enough to make
you cool. We got inside the plane with flight attendants greeting us by putting
flowers in our hair. Our seat was close to the front and near the window. Lowden and

During my interview with Margaret West of Bourke, NSW I was able to gain first

that were faced by some indigenous people during the 70 s and 80 s. After the

In figure 1 (Bartley), shown above, ninety eight percent of test subjects agree that
Shape A is Kiki while Shape B is Bouba. From studies of sound symbolism, one can
infer that before knowing anything about a person or subject, most people already
have predetermined feelings about the person or subject. Due to sound symbolism,
among other factors, a person s name could potentially affect his or her personality.
This is because outside perceptions of one can influence one s self perception
(Deluzain). In his book about psychology, Alter mentions every name is associated
with demographic baggage (Drunk Tank Pink 9). Different names can indicate a
person s age or ethnicity; coupled with the idea that children tend to follow
expectations set for them (Bryner), this provides a reason why names can affect a
person s personality. When children are met repetitively by a certain expectation, they
start to believe what is said about them, that others perception of them is correct, and
follow this expectation. Adults too, when in the outside world and met with different
biases due to their names, may act the ways others believe them to act, and not how
they might naturally act. Names also have different connotations, influencing a
person to act a certain way. For example, children with names that are closer to the
opposite gender version of the name are influenced to act differently

Essay on Growing Up During the Egyptian Revolution
I grew up in my home country Egypt, in a time some may say I was lucky to have
experienced and been a part of. I took part in helping a nation overthrow its dictator
who reigned with tyranny longer than I had been alive. I am an Egyptian youth, who
fought for my people s stolen prosperity and withheld freedom against the famous

Each night seemed like an entire season, full of constant suspense and fear of your
neighborhood being attacked and the potential harming of the women and children

that they were avoided by the uncontrolled militias, while others had to pray they
were prepared enough for attacks. Attackers that were contained were not shown

As a boy brought in the modern world, like most others in my situation, I was

The Role Of Confidentiality In Professional Code Of Ethics
The emergence of the HIV/AIDS pandemic has challenged traditional ethical values
of the health care profession and this include the infectious nature of HIV, the social
stigma of the disease and its ethical and legal dilemmas (Naidoo Vernillo, 2012).
Since its discovery in the early 1980s, HIV infection has become a pandemic,
causing an estimated 36 million deaths (Bagby, Amadee, Siggins, Molina, Nelson

and 1.6 million died of AIDS related causes despite increased availability of effective
antiretroviral therapy (ART) (Bagby et al., 2015, para 2, page e1). Thus the need for

The snow accumulation at Zojila pass is generally about 40 60 feet. Some of the
captions below provide an account of snow in these regions. In 2017, BRO
provided an annual snow clearance grant of INR 70 per cum for 2 lane roads in
altitudes above 2400m. Considering that both these routes fall in these altitudes,
and assuming on average 5 m of snow cover on two 2 lane roads (7 m wide). The
cost of snow clearance operations combined for these two routes (474 km + 424
km) is around INR 2,200 Mn, besides there are additional grants for air support
provided to ground staff for airlifting persons, supplying fuel and spare parts and
other things by helicopter. High altitude roads in heavy snowfall areas experience a
major drainage problem during spring thaw. The snow melt water flows with
tremendous velocity over the pavement, causing its erosion covered on either side by
snow accumulated on berms during snow clearance operations. The water released
by thawing collects in the centre of the pavement and the road itself acts as a drain.
At times, this running snow melt water freezes on the pavement and causes skidding.
Thaw water penetrates through the potholes and crevices in the pavement. When
subsequent freezing occurs, this thaw also freezes and expands causing damage to
the pavement. This alternative cycle of road thawing and freezing is one of the
major causes of damage to the pavement in snow bound areas. BRO

FINANCIAL RISK MANAGEMENT
Management of Financial Institutions and The Banking Crisis
Risk is uncertainty. The more risk one takes, the more he or she stands to lose or gain.
One cannot expect high returns without taking substantial risks.
The outcomes are thrown open to uncertainty. In general, when we talk about risk, we
focus on financial risk. In financial terms, it is the risk that a company or individual
could lose some or all of the original investment, possibly resulting in inadequate
cash flow to meet financial obligations. All wise investments follow risk
consideration. To be successful, every investor must be able to identify and
understand the types of risk they face across their entire portfolio. ... Show more

It had been widely known that problems with the banks in the US were due to the
phenomenon of sub prime lending for housing. Many of the loans had turned into
toxic assets as borrowers failed to meet repayments.
Similar to Northern Rock, the banks continued to give loans in this manner as they
too chose to securitize their loans because this method of trading appeared so
profitable. This was a highly successful mechanism to operate until the number of
defaulters increased to the point where these assets began to turn illiquid. Investors
started to avoid securities as it was now evident many were flawed. Moreover,
Northern Rock in their quest for greater financial returns found securities that
attractive they also invested in them.
With trading slowing in the financial markets, many institutions began to react to the
impending crisis by taking a more cautious approach to lending. In comparison
Northern Rock were so focused on returning profits and generating growth that, at a
time when monetary policy was tightening faster than expected, the bank had agreed
to issue a tranche of mortgages at interest rates that were lower than those it had to
eventually pay in the markets to finance them (The Economist, 2007, Lessons of the
fall, 20/10/2007). In hindsight, this was a disastrous decision, which contributed to
the impending shortfall in cash and ultimately the need to be bailed out.

When analyzing conflicting sources on specific topics, it is important to consider the
background of the author to reveal his or her motivation behind writing the piece.
When writing about cults, there are inside sources (current members) and outside
sources that encompass everything from ex members to the media. Jessica
Longaker, a non affiliate of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, posted a
critique of the patriarchal influence on Mormonism and how it affects the role of
women in the church. Sheri L. Dew, a current member of the church that serves as
the Relief Society General President, gave a speech was published on the Church s
official website. In this speech, Dew describes how Mormonism empowers women
and emphasize the importance of their role. When analyzing conflicting sources, it is
crucial to analyze the author s position in order to detect motivations and bias that
can influence the message that is being portrayed. In order to offset this bias and gain
a complete understanding of the topic, researchers must analyze points of
intersection, similarities, and differences between the two sources. According to
Longaker, all Mormon men are ordained as members of the priesthood, with the
absolute authority to preach the gospel...and generally speak for God (Longaker). She
continues by stating that women have the important ability to bear children, men
need the power of the priesthood merely to remain equal with them. (Longaker).

coli, and the other was for s. epi. We covered the inside of each petri dish (that had a
jelly base) with the bacteria it was designated for. After that, we split both dishes
into four sections. In the middle of each section we would put an antibiotic disc.
After all four of the antibiotics were placed in each dish with tweezers, they were
incubated overnight. The next day, we measured the zone of inhabitance around
each antibiotic disc. I had two statements in my hypothesis. If S. epi is gram
positive, then penicillin, streptomycin, and tetracycline will be effective on it
because each one reacts with gram positive bacteria. If E. coli is gram negative,
then streptomycin and tetracycline will be effective on it because each one reacts
with gram positive bacteria. I reject the first statement in my hypothesis because
only one of the antibiotics was susceptible on s. epi, while the others were
resistant. I accept my second hypothesis because both streptomycin and tetracycline
were susceptible on the e. coli bacteria. We can relate this experiment to the outside
world by testing the effectiveness of antibiotics on certain diseases and infections.

Stop And Frisk Research Paper
The history of stop and frisk began in 1968 and ended in 2013. Stop and frisk began
with the cases of Terry v. Ohio, Sibron v. New York, and New York v. Peters. The
Supreme Court s decision was made on legal grounds to stop with reasonable

based off of early cases that showcased its importance. The case of Terry v. Ohio led
to the development of legal stop and frisk in New York during the year of 1968. The
case was built from a detective providing a stop and frisk on two males who had the
potential to commit a crime. Within the case of Sibron v. New York, a stop and

Basketball Shoes Research Paper
There are plenty of trends that go on in our modern day era. One of the most
expensive ones would be the increasing price in basketball shoes. The increasing
price is due to many people being brand washed, meaning that the consumer buys
the product from a brand, just because of the name and the status of it. Also an
increase in labor costs in China all are factors that increase the price of basketball
shoes in China. Because of the increase in material cost, it increases the general
release cost for a sneaker. The effect of constantly increasing shoe prices on the
consumer market, is that brands will start releasing sneakers with storylines / special
editions, and will charge at least a two hundred dollar price tag for coveted sneakers.

Though the price tags on these basketball shoes can be seen as ridiculous, these
companies are still making a huge sales off these shoes, largely because our society
brand washed most of these brands customers to pay that much for shoes. According
to www.statista.com, Nike s revenue worldwide is $30,601 Million, their net income
worldwide is $3,273 million and there number of retail stores worldwide is 931.
Also according to www.statista.com , Adidas net sales worldwide is 14,535
million Euros, their net profit was 524 million Euros and their number of stores
worldwide is 1,746. Even with these hefty prices, at which companies are selling
their products, they are still making huge profits globally and will continue to make
big profits, due purely to the name of their brand, despite the prices. The increases
in these companies prices, it has increased the price of other companies basketball
shoes such as, Under Armor and Peak. Also it has sunk cheaper shoe companies like
And 1 and Reebok.
Also to include more foreign basketball shoe companies, for example China s Li

Theme Of Race In To Kill A Mockingbird
Race doesn t only separate
Martin Luther King Jr exclaimed, I have a dream that one day little black boys and
girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls. In To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee, she uses the character of Scout as a narrator, to express
the story of her father, Atticus Finch, who defended Tom Robinson in the small town
of Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930s. During the course of the book, Scout and Jem,
Scout s brother, learn crucial lessons from her dad, such as understanding people s
point of view and innocence. Even though separation according to race is encountered
in To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee argues that race also shapes people s language,
their social relationships and social status, including their behavior between
themselves. She wants to demonstrate that race also affects conduct between people.
Harper Lee has depicted the separation between Caucasians and African Americans in
To Kill a Mockingbird by showcasing how White talk and African American talk
influences conduct between people of different races. For instance, when the
children, Scout and Jem went to the church with Calpurnia, and they accessed the
church. Subsequently, Scout stated, Calpurnia tilted her hat and scratched her head,
then pressed her hat down carefully over her ears. Meanwhile, Calpurnia said, Now

Economic And Social Aspects Of The Commercial
Revolution...
During the Middle Ages, the period from the eleventh to the thirteenth centuries, the
European economy was able to expand. Commercial Revolution was when trade
grew and merchants had developed new business techniques. The modernizing trade
in the Commercial Revolution was a cause for a rebirth of town life. According to
Cole, Urban manufacturing was regulated by professional associations known as
guilds or confraternities. Also, guilds promoted the interests of the members by
trying to defend monopolies and to limit competition. In the late Middle Agesthe
cloth trade had become an important site of conflict. The Middle Ages and these
conflicts became a feature of life including famine, plague, war, social, and economic
conflicts. The Medieval GuildSystem comprised of craft and merchant guilds
influencing economic and social aspects of European life.
During this time the two most common guilds were craftsmen and merchant.
Merchant guilds sold increasing quantities of cloth around Europe and they imported
raw wool from England to supply the cloth makers in order to handle long distance
and regional trade. The other guild craftsmen was when weavers or dyers achieved a
monopoly in the production of a product. In many places where the guilds performed
independently of one another the craft guilds began to take over the control of the
production from the merchant guilds. The guilds set quality standards for their
products, managed the size of the workshops, the

Deception Of Women In Richard III
A main aspect of Richard s, Duke of Gloucester, personality is his hatred of women,
possibly due to most woman within Richard III holding more knowledge than the
men, in regards to Richard s deceiving nature. The only woman who is outsmarted by
Richard is Lady Anne.
Deception, as well as their relationship, is crucial to the overall plot. The character of
Lady Anne has crucial dramatic functions within the play because her character
supports Richard s growing reputation of manipulating and morally wrong motives.
When she is seduced by Richard, it shows his success at manipulation, which
eventually does fail in the later acts of the play. After successfully slaying Lady Anne
s husband, King Henry, Richard is still able to gain her hand in marriage using
persuasive language. Through this act, Lady Anne becomes a blocking figure for
Richard because he has to conquer her, but he also has a pre existing disadvantage
regarding the situation: Lady Anne is aware that Richard just killed her husband.
Whenever they interact with each other, the use of formal language is present. Due to
this, it has the capability to thoroughly show the tension between them, as well as
Lady Anne s attitude towards him. She tells him Thou mayst be damned for that
wicked deed! (1.2. 102) and then continues by telling Richard that And thou unfit for
any place but hell, (1.2. 106) which isn t only insulting but also portrays him as a
supernatural creature for the audience to picture, more
Titration Of A Concentration And The Acid Base Titration
Summary
The purpose of this experiment was to find the molarity of a concentration and the
acid base titration. In part A of this experiment, the molarity of an assigned
concentration which was 0.040, was found using formulas that represent molarity.
Part B of this experiment, which was titration of an acid and base, was found by a
series of steps that involved dropping Sodium Hydroxide from a buret into vinegar,
until the perfect shade of pale pink occurred. With the Phenolphthalein, too much acid
causes the base to turn a dark pink. The molarity was then found of the titration. So
the end results will determine M HCH3O2.
Introduction A solutionis a homogenous mixture of a solvent and one or more
solutes. The substance that dissolves in the solute is the solvent, and the solute is
what gets dissolved. Solutions can vary in concentration in great ratio differences.
It is very important to be able to correctly prepare solutions. There is always a
proper amount of solution to be made to have a desired amount of produced. So in
the medical world, too much solute will most likely have harmful effects like
overdosing and too little could result in ineffective treatment. Also the money spent
on solutions could also be another reason for correct preparation of solutions,
because the success of the drug has an effect on future sales and profit. Solutions that
are dilute, are weak, and solutions that are concentrated are strong. A precise means
of describing concentration is 1.
The Most First Time Of Zopf
The very first time, Zopf was described the genus Rhodococcus in 1981 and then
redefined in 1977 to accommodate a number of strains that resembled but did not
belong to the genera Corynebacterium, Mycobacterium and Nocardia.1, 2
Thereafter, considerable changes were made to the classification of the genus.
Some species have been combined, some reclassified in new genera and new species
have also been described.1 at present there are over 40 species classified under the
genus Rhodococcus.3 4
The genus Rhodococcus are aerobic, GC rich nonsporulating, non motile Gram
Positive bacteria which also contain mycolic acids in their cell envelope.5 7 The cell

Rhodococcus erythropolis produce large number of enzymes that allow them to
undergo the reactions like bioconversation and biodegradations.14
Biosurfactants and bioflocculants
Rhodococci have the ability to produce surfactant molecules, which contain strong
hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups and also migrate to interfaces between oil and
aqueous phases. Some biosurfactants, including some Rhodococcus produced
surfactants that are more efficient, more degradable and less toxic than synthetic
surfactants. The relevance of surfactants to biodegradation of pollutants is threefold;
the cellular surfactants cause adherence of rhodococci to hydrophobic phases in two
phases and surfactants lower the interfacial tension between the phases, making it
easier for hydrophobic compounds to enter the cell. At the same time extracellular
surfactants disperse hydrophobic compounds that increase the surface area for the
attachment of mycolic acids.1
The Evolution Of Tetra Pods
It is often debated which species share common ancestors, in particular, how closely
related amphibians, mammals and osteichthyes are. The evolution of tetra pods, or
four legged animals, from aquatic animals such as fish can be traced back 365
million years ago to the Devonian, 408 360, mya, and evidence shows that this
evolution was divergent in nature (Freeman, S. 2011; Myer, A and Zardoya, R.
2004). Divergent evolution, also sometimes termed adaptive radiation, occurs over
many geological times and gives rise to a number of new species that all occupy
different habitats and show characteristics that assist in survival and reproduction
under their natural selection pressures (Kinear, J.F. 2000). Variations in these

2011). Different organisms can evolve in similar ways even if they are not similar
by descent from a common ancestor and this is known as homoplasy (Hawks, J.
2005). Classification of animals is an important field of biology, as new knowledge
about genetics, anatomy and evolutionary relationships often leads to new thoughts
on how different groups of organisms are related. In the biological systems of
classification, all organisms are divided and classed into increasingly specific
groups, starting with the kingdom, and finally being classed down to their genus and
species (Huxley, L; Watter, M. 2005). Animals are either vertebrates or invertebrates,
and this determines what phyla they belong to. All vertebrates, for example are all
classed under the chordate phylum, meaning that they all evolved from an ancestor
that had a notochord along the back (dorsal) side. Mammals, fish, reptiles,
amphibians and birds are all chordates. Studies on vertebrates have revealed that
progressive evolutionary adaptations, such as improved respiration, efficient
reproduction and paired muscular appendages enabled the vertebrates to survive in a
wider range of habitats and on land. The development of the earliest vertebrates and
the transition from
Life As A Christian Versus Buddhism
Life as a Christian versus Buddhism
As a Christian you have taken on the likeness of Jesus Christ in the flesh. You are
to walk and talk as he did when he walked the earth. But, as a Buddhist, you take on
the likeness of a child that did not want to be a god. I will talk about the differences
between Christianity and Buddhism and then give information on the matters. But,
first we will have to understand the formation and beginnings of the two religions.
Buddhism, which has been around for over 2500 years, was started because of a
little boy who was chosen by his father after birth to be significant because of
certain markings or signs on the little baby s body. Growing up, this boy was
sheltered from all negativity and given a life where he was never allowed to see or
experience anything negative or bad. His dad felt that he would have so much
compassion for people and want to save them from hurt if he saw the bad things in
the world. And, his dad wanted him to become an Emperor and rule the people,
not feel sorry for them and try to save them from harm. The very thing that his dad
thought turned out to be true for Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha snuck away to
experience the real world and once exposed, decided he wanted to give up his life
of luxury and live a simple life while finding the answers he was looking for. After
he grew up, he left his wife, son and comfortable home and began his journey as a
monk. He developed self control, mastered meditation,
Comparison of the Book Cyrano de Bergerac and the
Movie,...
The book, Cyrano de Bergerac and the movie, Roxanne have many similarities and
differences. This includes the plot, characterization, setting, conflict, and irony. The
plot in both the movie and the book are similar. In both, Cyrano is trying to help
Roxanne and Christian fall in love with each other, even though he loves Roxanne.
Cyrano writes letters to Roxanne telling her how much he loves her, pretending to be
Christian. He loves Roxanne, but feels that he is ugly and could never get her to love
him back because of his huge nose. The book and movie have the same main
characters playing the same roles. Cyrano is charming, poetic, and witty with a huge
nose in both the book and the movie. Women love Cyrano as a friend but... Show

Christian s name is shortened to Chris, Cyrano is shortened to CD, and Roxanne s
name is spelled with only one n in the movie. Many characters in the book are not
included in the movie. This includes Comte De Guiche, Ragueneau, Le Bert,
Liniere, and some others. These characters were replaced in the movie by fire
fighters working under Cyrano. The character Dixie is included in the movie but
not in the book; Dixie is Cyrano and Roxanne s best friend who owns a restaurant.
The setting is based in towns in both the movie and book. However, the book s
setting was in a rural France and the movie takes place in a modern suburban in
America. The time period in the book was 1640 and the time in the movie was in
present day. The conflict is similar at the beginning of both stories. Cyrano loves
Roxanne, but Roxanne loves Christian who does not know how to talk to her.
Therefore, Christian has Cyrano write letters to Roxanne pretending that Christian
really wrote the letters. Cyrano feels that his big nose makes him ugly, and no one
could ever love him. The ending of the story changes in the movie from the book.
In the book, Christian is killed in the war. Cyrano never tells Roxanne that he wrote
the letters and ends up dying at her side fourteen years later. In the movie, Roxanne
leaves to go to a convention instead of Christian leaving for war. Christian ends up
meeting a new woman and ends up leaving with her, while
The Causes And Development Of The African Slave Trade
African slave trade or Atlantic slave trade was the result of advancement of maritime
innovation and the ambitious imperialism that swept among the powerful countries
of Europe. With new set of maritime skills and innovation, firstly Portuguese s
traders crossed harsh seas along the coast of western Africa. What began as the quest
for the exchange of goods between European and African merchant, swiftly changed
into the massive potential of cheap labor and unlimited resources to exploit with the
founding of new European colonies in Caribbean, Central and south America
respectively. These colonies used slaves as the laborer in the coffee, coco, tobacco
and sugar production, often in harsh conditions and longer working period, which not
possible by white settlers due drastic change of climate and tropical diseases.
As for the origin of these slaves is concerned, each of the major colonizer such as
Portugal, Spain, Netherlands (Dutch India Company) and English had their own
African territories and colonies to provide slaves for their plantations in New World
as well as for north America and other European countries. For instance, Portuguese
dominated western African coasts and used Angolan slaves. In costal Brazil, Spanish
used the seminomadic Indians, Aztec citizens and imported slaves from Cuba.
Meanwhile, Dutch West India Company, imported slave from costal region of
Guinea as well as by waging war against established trade hubs of Portugal and
Spain. Whereas countries like
Graphic Novel Conventions
I used five different conventions in my Graphic Novel. I used different lengths
panels to symbolize how long the time in the panel is and also to emphasize the
moods in them. For example, when Ursula tells Sylvie how she feels about
remembering events from her previous life. Also I used facial expressions in order
to help the reader sympathize with the characters and to help further, show the
emotions of the characters. Hand actions also helped with showing the expressions
and it helps the ready to know in which tone the character is saying their line. In
order to show a memory, I used blurred edges of the panel to symbolize that it is
unclear as it is not happening right this moment. Also I used the dotted box in order
to symbolize whisper and to extenuate that it is not a common belief that some people
have a second sight.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
EVERYTHING FAMILIAR SOMEHOW was the first thing Ursula said in this
chapter, so I decided to keep it as it gets the entire scene going. I kept it in all
capital letter, in order to keep it as close as possible to original text. Also I used the
yelling bubble to further emphasize Ursula s frustration that will be evident later on
in this scene. Words and phrases echoed themselves, strangers seemed like old
acquaintances. It is like things had happened many times before Ursula says this
when Sylvie does not believe her and says that she has dГ©jГ vu. I used a facial
expression, which shows worrisome, in order to emphasize that Ursula is saying
this because Sylvie does not believe her. I constantly have the terrible fear, fearful
terror that I carry around inside me. The dark landscape within. I think this is an
important quote because it shows how Ursula is feeling about having these
memories. I emphasized it by her facial expression and her hands to show that she is
scared. Also in this scene Sylvie s expression shows concern for
Florida Vs Arizona Essay
Two seemingly similar places Arizona and Florida are two seemly similar places,
but when you compare the two they have very different pros and cons. Florida is a
humid place, and Arizona is a dry heat. Florida is normally sunny as well as
Arizona but it gets much more rain then Arizona because it s basically an island
state. If you re looking for a bigger difference in seasons Arizona is great because
the winters are colder, and there is snow in the northern area of Arizona, while you
won t ever get any in Florida. If you re looking for a relatively warm place all year
round Florida is great. Being that Arizona is a desert state the humidity and
rainfall is much lower. The average high in Arizona summers is a strikingly high
104 degrees while Florida s average high is 92 degrees. The winter s high median in
Arizona is 48 degrees while Florida stands at 50 degrees. Usually in Arizona the
wettest month is March with around 1 and Florida s wettest month is usually June
with around 7 . Arizona is the smaller state of the two with a population of
6,553,255 while Florida is standing at 19,317,568, so Arizona may be better if you
like it to be a little less populated, and Florida is better if you like bog crowds and can
deal with heavy traffic than Arizona. Florida also has slightly... Show more content on

Why Is Andrew Carnegie A Captain Of Industry
Andrew Carnegie: A Captain of Industry Andrew Carnegie, a Gilded Age
industrialist, was a captain of industry, because he expanded the American steel
industry through hard work, becoming one of the richest people in history, and
then donated about 90% of his fortune in an attempt to improve society. Andrew
Carnegie was born into poverty in Scotland and immigrated to the United States
with his family for the prospect of a better life. Although, in the United States, his
family still struggled to make ends meet until Carnegie was offered a job at a cotton
mill as a bobbin boy, changing spools of thread for 12 hours a day, six days a week
for $1.20 per week. He became the primary breadwinner of his family at the age of
12. After years of working... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carnegie earned a lot of money from his investments and quit his job with the
railroad to focus on his business affairs, which included frequent traveling to
Europe to sell railroad bonds. On one trip, Andrew Carnegie met the English
inventor, Sir Henry Bessemer, who had invented a new process for making high
quality steel efficiently and cheaply. After meeting Bessemer, Carnegie decided to
concentrate his investments in the steel industry. He opened a steel company in
Pittsburgh and adapted his steel mills to use the Bessemer process. The process
allowed Andrew Carnegie to manufacture steel efficiently and cheaply. To increase
manufacturing efficiency even further, Carnegie began the vertical and horizontal
integration of the steel industry, which allowed Carnegie Steel Company to save
money as it expanded. He quickly became one of the richest people in history due
to his hard work before the creation of Carnegie Steel and during its operation.
Andrew Carnegie sold Carnegie Steel Company to J.P. Morgan. Carnegie became a
philanthropist in his retirement and gave away $350 million, which was about 90%
of his fortune. He built
Jon Stonewall Case Summary
This case study formed from a negotiation between a company and a hotel. Jon
Stonewall is a regional manager for Intel Tech, and he was looking for a hotel in
Sacramento to hold a meeting for his company. The Monte Sereno Hotel is the one
that Jon had chosen. The Sale Manger of that hotel is Sarah Chavez, and Jon is
directly dealing with her. Sarah had given Jon two different pricing options for his
event: the 48 rooms at $99 each and the meeting space for $1,000 for Sunday
through Thursday, or the rooms at $89 each, and she will throw in the meeting space
for free if he would change the dates to Wednesday through Sunday. Sarah had made
this deal to counter act the days with low occupancy. This had made Jon very
aggravated because he planned
Juvenile Crimes Are Classified As Juvenile Delinquents
In the United States children and adolescents that partake in illegal behavior or
commit crimes are classified as juvenile delinquents. Those who are tried by the
juvenile court system and continue their illegal behavior are classified as repeat
offenders. Juvenile crime can be either status offenses, like under age drinking and
range to violent crime, such as rape, aggravated assault, and even property crimes. In
many cases juveniles commit heinous acts that one would think only an adult is
capable of doing, this leads to sentences of life without parole.
In the past juveniles have been sentenced to life without parole, recent U.S. Supreme
Court cases have abolished this aw stating it violates their rights. Even though it
reduces the recidivism
Nelson Mandela Ethos
The speech I am analyzing is Nelson Mandela s speech, Apartheid has no future. In
his speech given on February 11, 1990, Mandela thanks all those that stood with
him while he was imprisoned. He also stresses there should be more of an effort to
completely abolish apartheid. Mandela uses several rhetorical devices to build a
strong speech. Nelson Mandela s speech Apartheid has no future is persuasive based
on its use of ethos, logos, and pathos. 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
Ethos is built through Mandela s character. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned in 1964
for treason, stemming from his activities with the banned African National Congress
(ANC) (Sawinski). When he was twenty four years old Mandela joined the national
African Congress. The ANC fought for civil rights for black South Africans. During
his time in the ANC Mandela was a part of a peaceful protest. Later a new
organization formed called the Congress Youth League, which was a departure or the
ANC and its traditional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second half of Mandela s speech outlines the goals and strategies that the ANC
use in order to normalize free political activity. Mandela also suggests ways to
become better. He suggests an ending to the state of emergency and freedom for all
political prisoners. I reiterate our call for inter alia the immediate ending of the state
of emergency and the freeing of all, and not only some, political prisoners (Mandela)
This statement is an example of logos because these are realistic goals/ requests that
can be accomplished. Another objective Mandela states are the negotiations of the
dismantling of apartheid. Negotiations on the dismantling of apartheid will have to
address the overwhelming demand of our people for a democratic nonracial and
unitary South Africa (Mandela). In this statement, Mandela states what dismantling
apartheid will do and it would address the demand for a democratic nonracial and
unitary South Africa. 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 11 1 1
Rehabilitation Center
Choosing a great drug rehabilitation center is one of the most important decisions
anyone can ever make in their lives. Proper rehab can mean the difference between
long term recovery and give up, so it is extremely important that patients
understand what to look for when shopping for a treatment plan. When deciding
on a medical rehabilitation center, there are a few things to consider: Always check
the center s licensing and accreditation first. A quality repair center should be
recognized in the state in which it operates. Be suspicious at centers that do not or
who are not easy to provide current license and accreditation information. If they
can not meet their state home accreditation criteria, it should not be considered.
Always check to see who is driving the drug rehabilitation center. An accredited
center should be run by trained doctors, psychiatrists, and professional specialists.
Do not decide anything less than a person who is properly trained on how to handle
the physical and mental effects of detoxification and drugs. It can be futile and
dangerous. Check which types of treatment plans are available. No two cases are the
same, and not all rehabilitation programs are created equally. The best rehabilitation
centers will offer a range of programs based on their patient needs from... Show more

They will be able to point you in the right direction when it comes to efficient, well
accredited and licensed facilities in your country and may provide you with a referral
for insurance goals. Check out independent organizations like the Better Business
Bureau. The effectiveness of a drug rehab center is not just the standard to look at; It
is also important to see what kind of complaints the previous patients and their
families may have. The Better Business Bureau may provide some insights into these
complaints and help potential patients decide whether a treatment center will really
meet their
Social-Psychological Points In Remember The Titans
The following will give detailed account on the Social psychological points made
in Remember the Titans . The movie is set in the early 1970s in Alexandria,
Virginia when integration of white and black schools was still a hot button subject
in a majority of communities in the United States. At the most superficial value
Remember the Tians is a story about a football team prevailing against the odds
with a new football coach and staff. On a deeper level the objective of the motion
picture is to shed a light on the social injustices that occurred in that time period. The
same injustices still manifest themselves in our society, however they are more
concealed. In our modern society prejudices and discrimination based on stereotypes

Research question one sought to establish the trend of bad loans of the bank during
the past five years. The study shows the trend of loans for the past five years, the
types of loans that Societe Generale advances to its customers as identified by the
study respondents. Personal Loans, Auto Loans, School Fees Loans and Finance
Lease. The study shows that the bank recorded the lowest bad debtratio in 2013 and
highest in 2015. It was attributed to the current economic volatility in the country.
The study found that individual and corporate customers as well as small and
medium scale enterprises qualify to access loans from the bank and that, personal
loans by salaried workers are the most accessed loanfacility at Societe Generale.
Institutional loans was next in line, followed by School Fees Loans, finance Lease,
Auto Loans and lastly, SME loans. The study found that on a scale of 1 5, 1 being the
lowest and 5 being the highest, SME loans have maintained a trend of the highest
payment default rate followed by Institutional loans (company scheme loans).
5.2.2 To identify the factors that account for bad loans
Research question two sought to identify the factors that account for bad loans in
Societe Generale. The study found that high national inflation causes many
businesses to fold up therefore rendering those businesses that have accessed loan
facilities unable to pay up. High interest rates on loans was the second most cited
reason for loan defaults amongst Moreover
Implementing A Project Management Methodology
The use of structured methodologies in IT Project management is increasingly
recognised as one of the fundamental drivers in reducing the likelihood of incomplete
and costly IT project failures. The need for a systematic approach has been
highlighted through a number of survey results on the failure of IT Projects. These
results demonstrate that the significant issues associated with failed projects include
the lack of; a defined project organisation, policy and procedures, implementation
plans and integrated methods (Taylor 2003). It is apparent that these recognised
issues can be significantly reduced through the implementation of standard project
managementmethodologies. Lind and Culler (2013) completed research of 116 firms

Standardised project management provides consistency across the organisation.
Roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and each individual on the team is
aware of their expectations.
Projects that are not working or no longer meet the business case are quickly
identified, thus allowing for early intervention.
Greater accountability and performance for project teams.
(McHugh MairГ©ad 2006)
The following case studies have been implemented using the PRINCE2 methodology
and demonstrate how a structured methodology for IT Project Management can
facilitate successful project outcomes.
Example 1: Raise your glasses the water s magic! Strategic IT at SA Water: a case
study in alignment, outsourcing and governance (Thorogood et al. 2004)
South Australian Water (SA Water) is responsible for the supply of the majority of
South Australia s water. Prior to 1999, SA Water had a record of IT
underperformance and a reputation not completing IT projects. In 1999, a new CIO
was appointed to improve the dire IT situation. Changes were made and immediately
a new project management methodology was adopted: PRINCE2. As a result, clear
structures began to be implemented. Both internal and external project managers
were required to have training in PRINCE2.
The Waterscope project was selected to be a showcase PRINCE2 project in May
2001. The goal of the project was to provide timely information on water quality
needed to manage

Short And Long Term Goals Essay.pdf

  • 1. Short And Long Term Goals Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Short and Long Term Goals" presents a multifaceted challenge that requires a delicate balance of introspection, strategic planning, and effective communication. The difficulty lies not only in articulating one's aspirations but also in providing a coherent narrative that seamlessly integrates short-term objectives with their long-term counterparts. The process begins with a thorough self-analysis, demanding a deep dive into personal ambitions, passions, and the steps necessary to translate dreams into reality. This introspective journey is both time-consuming and emotionally taxing, as it necessitates a genuine understanding of oneself and a clear vision of the future. Moreover, delineating short-term goals requires meticulous attention to detail, as these objectives serve as the stepping stones toward the overarching, long-term vision. Each short-term goal must be logically connected to the next, forming a cohesive roadmap that propels the individual toward their ultimate destination. Balancing ambition with pragmatism is a tightrope walk, as the essay must reflect a realistic approach to goal-setting while showcasing the tenacity to overcome challenges. Communication skills are paramount throughout the essay, as the ability to articulate aspirations, outline plans, and express personal growth is central to its success. Striking the right tone — one that is motivational yet grounded — is an art in itself. Achieving this balance involves careful consideration of language, structure, and the overall narrative arc. In essence, writing a compelling "Short and Long Term Goals" essay requires more than just linguistic proficiency; it demands a nuanced understanding of oneself, strategic thinking, and the ability to convey a persuasive vision for the future. It is a task that delves into the intricacies of personal and professional development, demanding both introspection and foresight. Chris MacCandless and Timothy Treadwell desperately needed a change in their lives in order to escape from their past unpleasant experiences and problems and they found their solution in the wilderness. Leaving the human word of comfortable excesses and surrendering their fates to natureempowered them to gain back a feeling of control over their lives. When your life is under a constant threat and you push yourself to your limits trying to survive in the wild, you start looking at many things differently than in normal circumstances. Wildernesscan be a perfect place to find a peace in your mind and help you find your answers, but it is also a dangerous place that you
  • 3. Why Is The Holocaust Successful Allied powers found the horrors of the Holocaust more obvious at every concentration camp liberated. Evidence of genocide could still be found despite Nazis forces attempt to destroy evidence supporting their acts of murder. Hitler was not successful in wiping out the Jews in Europe, and many Jews were able to return home. One thing is certain: the total population of the Jewish people has be considerably reduced , and many Jewsdid not know where to return home after World War II. On May 21st, 1945 Helga and her mother finally departed on a train from Mauthausen to head home. Eight days later, they returned home to a place they were never supposed to see again, Prague. Having nowhere to go, Helga and her mother took refuge at an old neighbor s
  • 4. Flexible Li-Ion Batteries Essay Flexible Li ion batteries (LIBs) have a strong oncoming consumer market demand for use in wearable electronic devices, flexible smart electronics, roll up displays, electronic shelf labels, active radio frequency identification tags, and implantable medical devices. This market demand necessitates research and development of flexible LIBs in order to fulfill the power requirements of these next generation devices. One of the main areas of research and development of high performance flexible LIBs is the active and inactive materials used in manufacturing these batteries. Active materials are those materials used in the battery electrodes that can store lithium ions in their structure. The remaining materials used in manufacturing flexible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As explained by IDTech Ex report that the flexible electronics market will reach over $76 billion by 2023[1],while the market for flexible, thin, stretchable and bendable batteries will grow to become about $471 million industry by 2026[2]. Additionally, the product is considered the most promising energy storage device with low carbon dioxide emission. The energy density of the lithium ion battery range between 120 170 Wh Kg 1 and 250 380 Wh l 1 more higher than Ni Cd and Lead acid[3]. LIB has three major electronically active components namely anode, electrolyte, and cathode. The anode is the negative electrode that releases electrons into an external circuit during a discharge process that involves the oxidation of chemical reactions. On the other hand, the cathode is the positive electrode that is reduced during a reaction. Notably, the lithium ions are stored within the cathode after a cell is discharged. Both cathode and anode stores energy while on charge, and releases it on discharge[4]. Cathode materials have relatively high electrochemical potentials while anode materials have low potentials. This design approach helps maximize the battery s output voltage. The final active component of the LIB is the electrolyte. It is a mixture of a set of organic solvents containing disassociated lithium salts that enables Li+ transportation between the anode and the cathode. Besides, other complementary components, such as current collectors attached to the
  • 5. A Sunrise On The Veld Poem Analysis How Two Completely Different Stories Can Have So Many Similarities The short stories, A Sunrise on the Veld and At the Pitt Rivers , have nothing in common if you analyze them on a shallow literature level. A Sunrise on the Veld by Doris Lessing, highlights some of the reasons why life is so valuable. Lessing hints her readers that this short story is set somewhere in the desert by, ... the flesh of his soles contracted on the chilled earth, and his legs began to ache with cold... He slung the shoes over his shoulder... they would be necessary when the ground became too hot to bear, (Lessing, pg. 1212). Most deserts get heated by the sun by day, but loses the heat at night. The boy starts hunting, at first, but then is distracted by a wounded buck. Seeing this buck suffer, depicts him especially sad. A boy is also the protagonist in At the Pitt Rivers by Penelope Lively. This boy spends his time in a museum, observing people and writing poems as the time passes. He keeps track of a couple he sees at the museum. The couple catches his attention because they are not his ideal of what a couple should look like. If a kindergartener read these two short stories, he/she would find nothing in common with the stories. But, if the reader has the ability to analyze the text in more depth, he/she would find that they are more similar than the kindergartener would think. As an advanced reader, a comparison that is prevalent in both stories is, society s thinking of the ideal

She lives an a diverse society where after the age of 16, you become pretty and are given plastic surgery and entirely change your appearance and lifestyle. Westerfeld writes primarily science fictionnovels along with young adult books. Ugliesis the first novelin a series with three more following. This story takes place in a futuristic time period. We learned this when the author showed how in the beginning of the story, Tally wanted to be just like everyone else; pretty. Westerfeld showed this on page 89, I don t want to be ugly all my life. I want those perfect eyes and lips, and for everyone to look at me gasp. And for everyone who sees me to think Who s that. This shows that she would give anything to blend in with society. However, Tally changed and became a better person by the end on page 267. She clutched the pendant, squeezing in the unyielding metal until her muscles ached, as if forcing into her own mind the almost unthinkable fact that she might really remain an ugly for life. But somehow not ugly at all. She opened her hand and threw the necklace into the center of the fire. This shows how much Tally changed because she didn t want to be pretty anymore. She understood that it is okay to be different and she made the decision that staying ugly is the right thing to do. She wanted to be
  • 7. Through The Tunnel Doris Lessing Analysis Rocks are universal symbols of strength and stability, but a small percentile of people would disagree. Doris Lessing would fit into the few, as rocks in her short story, Through the Tunnel , are associated with modifications and instability. The main character, Jerry s initial goal is to travel through a tunnel in order to fit in with the older and cooler kids. Throughout his journey, he encounters or utilises rocks in three different instances. He uses rocks to weigh himself down during training, he finds rocks scattered across the white ocean floor, and he is met with sharp rocks as he travels through the tunnel. Doris Lessings message of not letting society change oneself is illustrated through Jerry s usage of rocks to accomplish certain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jerry describes these rocks as sharp and pained his back (Lessing 372 373). The sharpness and pain associated with the rocks could be related to Jerry s initial goal to fit in with the cool, big boys, and in the process, had to alter himself. He didn t feel himself which could be related to pain. Additionally, being molded to fit someone else s standards can be a painful process. As he continues swimming through the tunnel, he was being continually pressed against the sharp roof (Lessing, 383 384). Being continually pressed is representative of society s relentlessness and stubbornness. To escape this pressure takes a strong individual, and after one is comfortable with themselves, they can accomplish great things. Jerry was able to grow into his own self and use self motivation to accomplish a great task, going through the tunnel. Lessing uses the negative connotation around the sharpness of the rocks to convey her message that conformity is harmful and painful, an atrocious thing to go

Rice portrays the characters in her book as people who torment themselves, struggle with alienation, and are always lonely. Moreover, the characters in Rice s work portray the world that is surreal and focuses on uncovering the splendor of it. Notably, the attitudes of the characters are Gothic. The post modern literature by Rice which is mostly Vampire novels demonstrates intense emotions, a presence of periodic clothing and the decay of culture (Fauquet Alekhine 2016, pg9). However, the assumption made was based on the self profession of love to Goth sub culture by the involved gunman Kimveer Singh Gill (Jung, and Lee 2014, pg23). According to the media, the use of the term Goth by Gill in his writings referred to an alternative industrial or a Goth sub culture, as opposed to alluding to the music of, Gothic rock style (Tosh 2015, pg 17). Notably, Gill committed suicide after he executed the gun attack and wrote an online journal, where he openly talked about being sick of listening to people making jokes along with preps that make the life of Goths hard, along with other people who appear as different from the majority (Fauquet Alekhine 2016, pg10). Furthermore, Gill termed himself as an angel of death and also bragged that metal along with Goth is the ones that kick ass (Tosh 2015, pg 17). However, the claims were later disputed by Mick Mercer, who talked of Gill as a person who strongly listened purely to metal music (Jung, and Lee 2014,
  • 9. Letter From Birmingham Jail Thesis On April 16, 1963, shortly after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was sent to jail, for public protests against segregation, he wrote the Letters from the Birmingham Jail. The letters from the Birmingham Jail played a monumental role during the Civil Rights Movement, and were crucial to ending segregation in America. During his time in jail, Dr. King Jr, received letters from critics who were questioning his methods and timing of his public protest during the Civil Rights Movements. The letters from the Birmingham Jail were addressed to these critics. They defended Dr King Jr s non violent protests, and criticized the cities disciplinary acts of violence toward protesters. King Jr. continued to endure the hardships, he would soon find out that he would be rewarded for his perseverance, when society was soon affected in a positive way. During the protests police ordered violent acts to stop the protesters and many protesters were jailed. The violent police acts were shown on television. The actions taken horrified many Americans (Marazani 3). Since the unjust acts were finally being televised, citizens of the United States, were now actually seeing and realizing the cruel actions that were being taken against protesters, by American officers. Now that America was finally realizing the harsh acts against African American protestors, Dr. King Jr s goal of ending segregation was almost accomplished by making the problem known throughout America. Since all of America now knew about the brutality that police were enforcing against African Americans, there was an outrage and an agreement was reached and employers agreed to desegregate public places, and employ African Americans (Birmingham 3). Therefore the demonstrations finally came to an end now that Dr King Jr s goal had finally been achieved. Dr. King Jr. and the protests had successfully desegregated the city of Birmingham, as well as achieving rights of equality for African Americans. However this would not have been possible without the Letters from the Birmingham

MP3 Piracy Essay amp;#65279;MP3 PIRACY TOPIC PARAGRAPH: The trading of MP3 s or digital music over the Internet is all ways going to be prevalent part of the music industry, and is an unrealistic goal to try to control. The cost of controlling the piracy issues over the Internet would cost record companies more money than what they are losing due to MP3 trading. The record industry is trying to fight the major sites and companies in court with copyright suits. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main legal controversy involved with MP3 file s is that they are being traded around the Internet without the artist consent of the artist or record companies. Kimmel (1997) states the following: It seem obvious that the use of MP3 technology does not for the most part, meet the requirements, set by the Copyright Law of 1976, to clam fair use for educational purposes. These arguments can include protection gaps, where copyright treaties only protect material for a certain amount of time, thus making produced and distributed after this gap has expired legal. Another legal justification of bootleg recordings is that the copyright is not owned by the artist, publisher, or record company, though this defense has not been as successful as the protection gap defense. This is what is making it easy for sites to be around such as MP3.com and programs such as Napster. Length, format, and approximate size of a 5 minute music files. • 11. Analysing Moral and Ethical Issues in Queen V. Dudley and... Analysing Moral and Ethical Issues of the Queen v. Dudley and Stephens. Moral and ethical issues In the case of the Queen v. Dudley and Stephens, there were several moral and ethical issues. I will explain them in this section using facts from Prof Michael Sandel s video, the cited case, and a book titled Cannibalism and common law: a Victorian yachting tragedy by Alfred Bryan William Simpson. First, on the 23th of July, Dudley first suggested that someone should be sacrificed to save the other 3. That someone referred to the Richard Parker and he was not consulted. Why? Although Brooks rejected the idea and no actions were followed up, it marked the start of an intention to kill. Second, on the 24th of July, Dudley proposed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nonetheless, eating someone s flesh and blood is somewhat morally wrong. Even if it is necessary, it only makes it less wrong, but never categorical imperative. Hence, based on the philosophy of categorical imperative, like what Brooks had said earlier, everyone would have died on that faithful yacht. The other way is self cannibalism. Each of them could have feed on their own limbs, but this would further risk their weak body and it might be fatal due to excessive loss of blood or infection. Here, I will discuss on what other alternatives which seem more categorical imperative than Utilitarianism. Dudley could have proposed the casting of lots to all crew on the 23rd July, instead of excluding Parker. Since casting of lots involved all of them, Parker should have been at least consulted. While Brooks dissented in the end and whether or not Parker would have agreed or disagree to the casting of lots, at least it was an opportunity for Parker to voice his opinion. Asking Parker for consent to take his life away for the others to feed on could wind up in a different ways. If Parker agreed, then it would seem less morally right, similar to euthanasia. If Parker dissented to sacrificing his life in spite of Dudley trying to convince him of the others having families, based on philosophy of Utilitarianism, I would think that Dudley would have still carried on and kill Parker. If Parker assented, but change his mind in the end, he would
  • 12. The Battle Between Grendel And Beowulf Carl Van Clausewitz once said, Courage, above all things, is the first quality of a warrior. In a culture where being a warrior is a very integral part of everyday lives, having courage is a key component of social survival. To have courage means to be able to defend a kingdom by every means possible. It means protecting and ascertaining the wellbeing of the people within one s own kingdom. And above all, courage means remaining loyal to one s king, regardless of the circumstance. This is the warriorculture that Beowulfin Beowulf was a part of successfully as a thane, and the same warrior culture that leads the narrator in The Wanderer to lament past memories. In Beowulf, the fight between Grendeland Beowulf was certainly a nail biter. In this fight, however, Beowulf shows his courage by doing his absolute best at defending the kingdom by taking on this gruesome monster. Grendel was wreaking havoc on the kingdom to no end. He was killing many and terrorizing the citizens greatly. When Beowulf heard of this, as a courageous thane, he stepped in to try to stop this and protect the people. Hygelac s kinsman kept [Grendel] helplessly locked in a handgrip. As long as either lived, he was hateful to the other. The monster s whole body was in pain; a tremendous wound appeared on his shoulder. Sinews split and the bone lappings burst. I had a torn quad from soccer for 2 months and then a concussion from skiing for 5 months. Because of those injuries, I wasn t able to participate in class so that gave me a lot of time to reflect, observe and learn from my peers from the view of an outsider. For once in my life, I was not caught up in everything and got to take a step back and really look at what was going on. This I think helped me the most when forming my character. When I had a torn quad in the fall I was allowed to come to the classes and watch. This was fun yet really frustrating for me because I love rope courses; I love being in the air, the risk and, the freedom of it because you can never fall when you re in the air. This really helped me realize all of what I was and should be thankful for in my life. I know I only had a torn quad but it helped me understand what it must be like to not be born with a limb or live your life in a wheelchair or be born with an extra chromosome. It sort of empowered me to become nicer and adapt myself to those kids because I could now see how strong their personalities must really be because they live life knowing that they can never do the things that I can do so easily yet put on a great face and love their life. Another thing I was really clearly able to see now was how my classmates were treating each other or how they all worked

There is still no exact proof on where the Parathions were able to use it since there were no wires found for the electric current to flow. The battery is composed of a clay pot, a copper tube enclosing a half inch metal tube and an asphalt stopper as a resistor. Inside the clay, there is a solution which contains electrolytes such as vinegars and juice. Scholars found out that the Parathions first ferment their wine as so that the wine will contain more free ions. And the copper tube together with the metal tube helps the electric current flow. In figure 1 (Bartley), shown above, ninety eight percent of test subjects agree that Shape A is Kiki while Shape B is Bouba. From studies of sound symbolism, one can infer that before knowing anything about a person or subject, most people already have predetermined feelings about the person or subject. Due to sound symbolism, among other factors, a person s name could potentially affect his or her personality. This is because outside perceptions of one can influence one s self perception (Deluzain). In his book about psychology, Alter mentions every name is associated with demographic baggage (Drunk Tank Pink 9). Different names can indicate a person s age or ethnicity; coupled with the idea that children tend to follow expectations set for them (Bryner), this provides a reason why names can affect a person s personality. When children are met repetitively by a certain expectation, they start to believe what is said about them, that others perception of them is correct, and follow this expectation. Adults too, when in the outside world and met with different biases due to their names, may act the ways others believe them to act, and not how they might naturally act. Names also have different connotations, influencing a person to act a certain way. For example, children with names that are closer to the opposite gender version of the name are influenced to act differently

High altitude roads in heavy snowfall areas experience a major drainage problem during spring thaw. The snow melt water flows with tremendous velocity over the pavement, causing its erosion covered on either side by snow accumulated on berms during snow clearance operations. The water released by thawing collects in the centre of the pavement and the road itself acts as a drain. At times, this running snow melt water freezes on the pavement and causes skidding. Thaw water penetrates through the potholes and crevices in the pavement. When subsequent freezing occurs, this thaw also freezes and expands causing damage to the pavement. This alternative cycle of road thawing and freezing is one of the major causes of damage to the pavement in snow bound areas. BRO

In part A of this experiment, the molarity of an assigned concentration which was 0.040, was found using formulas that represent molarity. Part B of this experiment, which was titration of an acid and base, was found by a series of steps that involved dropping Sodium Hydroxide from a buret into vinegar, until the perfect shade of pale pink occurred. With the Phenolphthalein, too much acid causes the base to turn a dark pink. The molarity was then found of the titration. So the end results will determine M HCH3O2. Introduction A solutionis a homogenous mixture of a solvent and one or more solutes. The substance that dissolves in the solute is the solvent, and the solute is what gets dissolved. Solutions can vary in concentration in great ratio differences. It is very important to be able to correctly prepare solutions. There is always a proper amount of solution to be made to have a desired amount of produced. So in the medical world, too much solute will most likely have harmful effects like overdosing and too little could result in ineffective treatment. Also the money spent on solutions could also be another reason for correct preparation of solutions, because the success of the drug has an effect on future sales and profit. Solutions that are dilute, are weak, and solutions that are concentrated are strong. A precise means of describing concentration is 1.

Some biosurfactants, including some Rhodococcus produced surfactants that are more efficient, more degradable and less toxic than synthetic surfactants. The relevance of surfactants to biodegradation of pollutants is threefold; the cellular surfactants cause adherence of rhodococci to hydrophobic phases in two phases and surfactants lower the interfacial tension between the phases, making it easier for hydrophobic compounds to enter the cell. At the same time extracellular surfactants disperse hydrophobic compounds that increase the surface area for the attachment of mycolic acids.1
  • 42. The Evolution Of Tetra Pods It is often debated which species share common ancestors, in particular, how closely related amphibians, mammals and osteichthyes are. Different organisms can evolve in similar ways even if they are not similar by descent from a common ancestor and this is known as homoplasy (Hawks, J. 2005). Classification of animals is an important field of biology, as new knowledge about genetics, anatomy and evolutionary relationships often leads to new thoughts on how different groups of organisms are related. In the biological systems of classification, all organisms are divided and classed into increasingly specific groups, starting with the kingdom, and finally being classed down to their genus and species (Huxley, L; Watter, M. 2005). Animals are either vertebrates or invertebrates, and this determines what phyla they belong to. All vertebrates, for example are all classed under the chordate phylum, meaning that they all evolved from an ancestor that had a notochord along the back (dorsal) side. Mammals, fish, reptiles, amphibians and birds are all chordates. Studies on vertebrates have revealed that progressive evolutionary adaptations, such as improved respiration, efficient reproduction and paired muscular appendages enabled the vertebrates to survive in a wider range of habitats and on land.
