Apa Reflective Essay
Writing an APA reflective essay can be quite challenging, requiring a delicate balance between
personal introspection and adherence to the strict formatting guidelines of the APA style. The
process involves not only expressing one's thoughts and experiences but also ensuring that the
content is organized, properly cited, and follows the prescribed structure.
One of the challenges lies in seamlessly integrating personal reflections with scholarly writing.
Striking the right tone, avoiding overly casual language, and maintaining a professional
demeanor can be demanding. Additionally, crafting a compelling introduction that captivates the
reader's attention while clearly presenting the purpose of the reflective essay can be a daunting
task.
Moreover, the meticulous attention to detail required by APA formatting adds another layer of
complexity. Ensuring correct citation of sources, adherence to the guidelines for headings,
subheadings, and the overall structure can be time-consuming. The need for precision in
formatting, from margins to font size, can be particularly demanding for those new to APA style.
Furthermore, the reflective nature of the essay may bring about a need for self-disclosure and
vulnerability, which can be challenging for some writers. Striking the right balance between
openness and maintaining a sense of professionalism requires careful consideration.
In summary, writing an APA reflective essay demands a combination of personal insight,
scholarly expression, and strict adherence to formatting guidelines. Navigating through these
elements can be a complex and demanding process, requiring a keen eye for detail and a
commitment to both personal expression and academic rigor.

The Bloody Chamber
As a feminist, it is almost to be expected that many of Angela Carter s happy ever
after endings will strike the reader with a bold feminist message. However, in The
Bloody Chamber, this is not necessarily the case. Although there are several feminist
messages in the stories resolutions, these messages are not always presented in the
way one would expect, and not every femaleprotagonistis presented as a feminist
character. By taking the roles of typically Gothic women and toying with the
presentation of female characters, many of Carter s feminist messages are not as one
would expect. The eponymous story The Bloody Chamberends with a sense of
resolution, love and happiness. The antagonist of the story is no more, and the
narrator is able to live a happy and fulfilling life with Jean Yves. Whether the
ending is truly feminist, however, is open to discussion. In one respect, the actual
resolution to the story is all down to the narrator s mother, who is presented at the
story s climax as an incredibly powerful female figure. Carter uses masculine and
bestial imagery to describe the mother, in a way that is not dissimilar to earlier
imagery to describe the Marquis. The narrator refers to her mother s hair as her
white mane ; just as earlier she had referenced the Marquis s dark mane . The
juxtaposition between light and dark here is a typical example of Gothic extremes;
while the Marquis seems to represent darkness the supernatural and evil the mother is
Screening for Mental Health
One evidence based intervention is designed by Screening for Mental Health [SMH],
the program is called Signs of Suicide [SOS]. The Signs of Suicide program is an
award winning program and it is also a nationally recognized program (). The Signs
of Suicide program is designed for youth of various ages ranging from middle school
and the way to high school(). This program helps students learn how to point out
signs of depression and suicidein themselves or in their friends or family. This
program recognizes the emotional distress that often follows the aftermath of a
completed suicide. Suicide, according to the Signs of Suicide Program is both
recognizable and treatable. A well designed prevention program can educate the
youth on how to spot the warning signs of depression, in people they love. The
Signs of Suicide Program provides everyday risk management tools and information
to judge, prevent and respond to signs of suicide ().
This program is split up into two different presentation groups; Middle school and
High school students. This is because both programs are administered slightly
different in terms of content. The high school program is appropriate for students
in grades 9 12, and the middle school is designed for grades 6 8. In both the high
school and middle school programs they stress involvement of peer and classmates as
part of its plan to prevent suicide. Studies show that youth are more likely to turn to
peers or classmates rather than adults when facing the
Ancient Atomic Theory And John Dalton
Ancient Atomic Theory John Dalton Many people struggled to understand the
nature of matter. Some said it was made of water and some said it was fire. A few
others believed that whatever matter was made of, it must be something that could
not be destroyed. Atomic theory attempts to answer what all things are made of. It
states that all matter is composed of extremely small particles called atoms. The word
atommeant indivisible in Greek and was first used by Democritus, a Greek
philosopher (Similar to a scientist at that time). Democritus believed that atoms are
indivisible and unchangeable, their shape, size and orientation in space explains the
existence of different substances and materials. While Democritus ideas aren t
acceptable today, because atoms are divisible... Show more content on

Although Democritus had a nice idea, it was not enough for some scientists in the
late 1700 s. Scientists like Joseph Priestly, Antoine Lavoisier demonstrated that
substances could combine to form new materials. Yet, it was John Dalton who
combined these ideas. He worked with the pressures and weights of different gases,
which led him to believe that their properties are dependent on atoms. He thought that
atoms from different elements could combine to form the known elements. He was
the first person to make an attempt in making a table of atomic weights, which was a
giant leap towards the making of the future Periodic Table Dalton s atomic theory
contains of five assumptions:
All matter consists of tiny particles called atoms.
Dalton and other scientists imagined the atoms as tiny, solid spheres in some stages
of motion.
Atoms are indestructible and unchangeable.
Atoms of an element cannot be created, destroyed nor divided into smaller pieces or
transformed into atoms of another element. This was based on the law of
conservation of mass, as stated by Antoine
Twin-Personal Narrative
I am a statistic. I am the 1 in 285 Americans that has an identical twin. Although
these are merely numbers, they mean a lot more than that to me. It means I have a
twin sister, Chloe, who has the same DNA as I do and looks exactly like me (or so I
m told). Our unique situation has led to a unique relationship. From head to toe, Chloe
and I look extremely similar. Her hair is long and blonde like mine, and our eyes
are the same size and hazel in color. Our shoulders are similar. Our arms are long in
comparison to our bodies. We have the same shirt size and our waists are the exact
same measurement. We both have long legs, scattered with volleyball bruises. Our
feet are exactly the same size. Although I know these likenesses to be true, all... Show

If I m wearing something that doesn t earn her approval, I immediately have to
change. Whenever I say something that she thinks is obvious or stupid when we
re with a group of our friends, she often corrects me not long after. I don t even try
to embellish my stories anymore, because Chloe is quick to correct me with a that
never happened. Although she likes to point out what I m doing wrong, she ll
always defend me when necessary. When someone insults me, she takes it
personally, and vise versa. Once, in fifth grade, a girl on my bus reached over the
green, scratchy seat and hit me lightly on the head. It was a confusing experience,
and now I realize it was probably for a dare, but Chloe was furious. She glared at
her and insulted her vehemently until she apologized, her face red. No one else
could possibly know all the things that Chloe knows about me. No one else knows
I was deathly afraid of the dark in 4th grade and still don t like dark rooms to this

Major Challenges Of The Constitution In The 21st
Century...
Major Challenges of the Constitution and the Founding Class
Many factors all played a role as to why the Constitution in our modern days today
are affecting we the people. Anywhere from the balance of power of that to the role
of the federal/state government. We see the flaws and how much of an impact it has
brought upon us as Americans because of what our Founding Fathers had done for
us in the past. Our government s main activity was to control the foreign policy and
conclude treaties. But, of course such a thing could not be done when we owed about
42 million (more than 46 billion today) after the Revolutionary War. It would ve been
difficult to create a stronger constitution without us learning from our mistakes of the
first one.

Shays Rebellion is the name given to a series of protests in 1786 and 1787 by
American farmers against state and local enforcement of tax collections and
judgments for debt. (Shays Rebellion. (n.d.). Retrieved December 8, 2015, from http:
//www.history.com/topics/shays rebellion). The rebellion was most serious in
Massachusetts, where bad harvests, economic depression, and high taxes endangered
farmers with the loss of their farms. The rebellion took its name from the symbolic
frontrunner, Daniel Shays of Massachusetts, a former captain in the Continental
army. It all began summer of 1786 in Massachusetts. The rebels had tried to capture
the federal arsenal at Springfield and harassed leading merchants, lawyers, and
supporters of the sate government. General Benjamin Lincoln, crushed many of the
rebels in several engagements in the winter of 1787. Shay and the other principal
figures had first fled to Rhode Island then to Vermont. Even this never seriously
threatened or endangered the stability of the United States, Shay s Rebellion greatly
alarmed politicians throughout the nation. Advocates of constitutional reform at the
national level cited the rebellion as justification for revision or replacement of the
Articles of Confederation, and Shay s Rebellion figured prominently in the debates
over the framing and ratification of the
Paideia Examples
Paideia refers to an ancient Greek philosophy centered around the upbringing of a
child more specifically, the gathering and instilling of ideal characteristics into said
child that would in turn make them into an ideal member of society . The Greeks
saw it fit to not only be well put together physically but also spiritually and
mentally. They had events in place such as wrestling and gymnastics to build one s
physical. They also delved into concepts such as the study of music, poetry and
philosophy which they believed kept one s moral compass pointing in the right
direction. However, these philosophies were only meant to be instilled in the male
populous of the society, leaving the females to be seen as incompetent vessels that

I have always been a leader, as far as I can remember. Even among those gifted with
strong personalities, I feel as if though I still step out as the leader among them.
For example, I recently participated in a mock debate that showed the top 3
candidates of the 2016 Presidential Election. Speaking in front of people, whether it
be a crowd of 5 or 500, makes fear course through my veins. However, my group
members wanted me to be the spokesperson and I agreed. When the day came for
me to get in front of the crowd of over 200 people, I felt slightly faint but I had a
group that were depending on me. Therefore, I had to push my fears and my
worries aside. That is what I believe a true leader is. A true leader to me is not the
person who leads fearlessly but the person who finds strength from deciding that
the needs of those they are leading trump their fears.Character is defined as the
mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual . I am no saint but I think
overall I am a very morally upright person. I can honestly say that I am kind to
everyone even when they are not kind to me. The philosophy that two wrongs do not

My Community Importance
Community is a place where everyone should feel comfortable being in and
acknowledge one another s decisions and their presence. Coming from a well
developed community in one of the most developed cities in Nepal, our community
still lacked of several moral values and development. Kathmandu is the capital of
Nepal and is one of the most developed cities throughout the country , but still coming
from a well developed community, our community still faced several problems
which lacked moral values and infrastructural developments within the community.
Although our communities lacked on certain things , people in our community
were still able to provide a good amount of resources to each community which was
in need of any kind of help or resources. My Community is very much important to
me because it is a big part of my life and my journey to where i am right now.The
community that i live in plays a significant role in shaping the way i am right now.
I ve always had a passion in serving for my community because everyone within my
community has sacrificed something in order to do provide for each one of us in
our community. Fastforward to 2014, when Nepal s economy was in the best it
could ever be after several years , was when the governmentfinally decided to extend
the roads and highways , which wasn t even a part of the five year plan that the
government has every five years. Due to the economic downfall in the past few
years before 2014, most of the people had already
What Is The Relationship Between Abigail Williams And
John...
It all started with Abigail Williams and John Proctor fooling around. John Proctor
has a wife and he continues to flirt with Abigail Williams. Abigail was a housemaid
for the Proctor family, but was recently fired because Elizabeth Proctor had
suspicions and did not like Abigail. After, John still did not stop flirting with her. He
would go to her house. John just does not know how crazy Abigail is.
Abigail Williams fell for John Proctor while being a housemaid for the Proctors.
Abigail wanted John because he looked good. When Abigail and all of her friends
got caught for dancing in the woods and chanting something to a fire, she would do
anything to get the heat off of her. So Abigail started to accuse people that she didn t
like. All the people that did not want to get hurt or killed followed her lead. ... Show

Elizabeth never liked Abigail Because she knew there was something going on
between John and Abby. Elizabeth dismissed her to avoid any more conflict. John
kept seeing Abigail during the night behind his wife s back. Elizabeth has never lies.
At the end of the play, she lies to save John, her husband s life.
The reasons Abigail Williams loves John Proctor are very different than how
Elizabeth loves John. Abigail just likes John for his looks. Elizabeth loves John
genuinely for him and who he is. Abigail is bad and wants to bring anyone down
that is in her way. Whereas Elizabeth just wants what s best for everyone. Abby likes
to bring people down and Elizabeth doesn t want to hurt anyone. Abigail accuses
people, innocent people. Elizabeth doesn t accuse people.
This is my opinion on the relation between these two women. One is honorable and
good. The other is a lying conniving sneaky evil person. There are people like that
back then and there still are today. Elizabeth was a good genuine person and Abigail

Agamemnon By Euripides Essay
Euripides was classic Athens. He is one of whose plays have long survived.
Importantly, he was well identified with theatrical innovation, which has profoundly
influenced drama up to the modern times, most especially in the representation of
traditional, mythical heroes as the ordinary people in an extraordinary circumstance.
Apparently, was so unique among many writers of ancient Athens because of his
abundant sympathy that he demonstrated towards the victims of society, most
especially being women. Agamemnon, Orestes and Electra were the main characters
in the plays. The play revolves around the leader of Greek forces, Agamemnon, and
his deadly decision to sacrifice his first daughter Iphigenia, to preserve his honor by

Later, Orestes killed two sons of Thestes and cut them into pieces, then served
them at a banquet to their father during an honor of his return (277). It was a
horrible experience for Thyestes after discovering what was prepared for his meal.
He then went away from Argos with only his infant child called Aegisthus after
cursing both Orestes and his descendants. After the death of Orestes, the throne
was left under Agamemnon his son, who later married a daughter of Sparta s king.
They bore three children, of which one inherited his father s throne upon death.
The remaining son of Orestes married Helen, who became king of Sparta upon her
father s death. Another seduction in the descendants of Orestes occurs. Later after
the wedding, Paris who was the son of Troy s king, seduced Helen then took her
away. A great force was organized to restore Helen to her husband. However, due
to adverse winds, they were unable to sail towards Troy. They appeased goddess
Artemis to calm the winds by sacrificing a young girl who arrived at the camp. They
sailed to Troas but there was a lot of justification of the murder of their mother by
Orestes who was later afflicted with madness then goes to become a spirit to hunt and
punish murderers

A whip and a mule for men can be seen as the reason for Angustias timid
communications with Pepe el Romano as seen in the extract. Moreover, Bernarda
s ideals on social status are made clear when Lorca has her reveal the reason for her
sending away Enrique Humanes. This was because His father was a farmhand , the
effect of this being Martirio s assurances that she will never marry. The
uncertainties Bernarda s eldest daughter, Angustias, feels about love, and her
inexperience of this is revealed by her apprehensive questions and statement of I
ought to be happy but I m not . This naivety is emphasised by the all woman cast.
The play opens with the death of the house s sole male inhabitant which furthers this
impression and creates an ironic foreshadowing of the extreme conditions of siege
which Bernarda forces upon her daughters. The distance between Bernarda and her
eldest daughter is made apparent by the short answers Angustias confidences receive
and the physical violence Bernarda directs at her when she strikes her with her stick
in Act one. This, combined with the large sum Angustias inherits from her stepfather,
intimates that she was favoured in his will because of some closer relationship; a
possibility that she, like the Servant, was sexually taken advantage of. This adds a
greater emphasis to the implication of hidden secrets held by the household. Later in

The Years 1918-1939, Which Separate World War I From
World
The years 1918 1939, which separate World War I from World War II, witnessed
profound changes in how technologically advanced military organizations would
fight. In most of the cases, during peacetime, military innovation, and technological
developments played an empowering or helping role in advancing profoundly new
and more operative ways of fighting. In a narrow and strict sense, such innovative
improvements were revolutionary. The technological revolution reached the
battlefields and forever changed the way that armies required from the fragile
airplanes and unreliable tanks of World War Ito evolve into more sophisticated
weapons by the late 1930s. Amount military innovations which influence the inter war

These principles are known as Die Truppenfuhrung and shaped the framework for the
preparation and conduct of ground operations during World War II. This studies
emphasized friction and uncertainty. It requires responsibility and exercises judgment
for junior officers in the battlefield. It also focuses on the greater use of armored
combined to army capabilities on maneuver. Consequently, to the influence of World
War I boosted Germany to develop early by the 1920s the coherent combined arms
doctrine that focused on decentralization command and control or mission type

enemy defensive systems.
One of the lessons learned after the first world conflict is the necessity of using the
third dimension on military operations. That assumption has been conceptualizing
by theorist through doctrine and implements differently from one country to
another. The doctrine concerning air force warfare was a direct influence of World
War I as a revolution on this domain. The challenge of many military theorists
concerned the emergence of the aircraft as a weapon and the adaptation of this
emerging capability on military operations. One of the Airpower advocates Giulio
Douhet consider the airpower as a tool to use to avoid trench warfare and
dramatically shorten wars. Thus, aircraft would attack an enemy s sources of assets
and it is the key to destroying the
Why Women Should Not Be Sexualized And Objectified The
Way...
David Dale 1 Why women should not be sexualized and objectified the way they
are in video games today: Most of us would already know that women s
representation in the media is highly sexualized and that women are regularly
portrayed in a sexual manner and are objectified in all forms of media whether it
be in magazines, online, television, movies, music videos, and of course video
games (Wu, 2014). Many people derive gratification from what they read and hear
every day without thinking about the way that women are being portrayed in these
forms of media. Women are regularly used as an object to sell a game or used as
eye candy to advertise and sell a product. The way that women in today s society
are objectified and sexualized in media especially video games can lead to later
unsocial behaviour by the participant and that s not a positive or desirable result
for society. Video games have long been known as a male dominated media, when
it comes to the market audience, player base, and character representation in game.
Research concerning gender representation in video games often focuses on a few
key points of how men and women are viewed differently, things like physical
abilities, role in the game, and physical attributes are just a few to point out (Zorrilla,
2011). Something that is used a lot in video games is the sexualized depiction of
female characters, the overwhelming masculinity of the implied game player, and the
recurring structure of male heroes or characters
Jane Austen Research Paper
The eighteenth and nineteenth centuries in England offer some of history s greatest
novels, histories, and people. Each one in his or her own way inspires legions of
fans, as well as critics, as historians find literal treasure troves of documents, letters,
and personal memorabilia to reconstruct the mythical figures from the contemporary
literature. Yet, one figure escapes such recognition and receives relatively odd
reception: Jane Austen. Austen offers a long historiography, but out of the line that
originates during her time, little actually has been said. Proclaimed a chronicler of
the ordinary by Lady Byron , her writing immortalized observations of simplicity and
sentiment. Her profession forces the study of her to blend disciplinary... Show more

By 1890, Godwin Smith, in the Life of Jane Austen, argued that there was little more
to say about Austen than what her family recorded and made an important argument
for her role as an authoress of manners, not romance. With the Romantic Movement
still fresh in mind, the legacy that Austen holds today reads like an insult by her
biographers. Similarly, A C. Bradley s 1911 essay, Jane Austen: A Lecture, continues
the same condescending tone and rejection of Jane s similarities to her
contemporaries. While remarking on the enjoyable nature of her novels, he opens by
saying that does not bind him to rank her with the greatest novel writers . Jane s
writing largely concerns itself with humor and at a distant second, morality. This
means she, as a humorist and moralist, does not stand out in the period beyond her
gender. In comparison, her contemporaries outweigh her by their writing of natural
states, rather than

The Hipaa Act Of 1996
What is the HIPAA Act of 1996?
HIPAA, what is it? It is privacy, control, and peace of mind. You have the right for
your medical information to be kept confidential. You have the right to decide
whether or not family members are privy to your medical information. If you are
changing jobs, why worry about health insurance coverage. Picture this. A woman
called a local hospital and inquired about the condition of a patient. She was
informed by the nurse that the patient was on a ventilator and could not talk. Even
though interaction seems perfectly harmless, it was actually a clear violation of
the privacy of the patient. A prescription for a local analgesic was presented to the
pharmacist for a patient with a name similar to a patient already on file. The
prescription was filled for the current patient who was actually the father, and not
the patient. The pharmacist assumed that the patient was the father and shared with
the patient that there was another medication that he had filled for you and asked,
Would you also like to pick up that medication also ? The father was not present
and therefore could not object to the sharing of this information with the son. In the
past, if you had a preexisting disease such as chronic fatigue or pregnancy, you
could be denied health care coverage. Because Congress stepped in to assist and fix
the healthcare system, denial of insurance because of a preexisting disease is not
accepted. In view of this significant law, this paper will

Analysis of the Orangutan Pongo Pygmaeus
The orangutan, Pongo pygmaeus, is an ape that is found in the moist, coastal
rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo which consists of Indonesia s Kalimantan
provinces, Malaysia s Sabath and Sarawak, and the kingdom of Brunei Darussalam.
Orangutans live in tropical rainforests and are arboreal primates meaning that they
are tree dwelling. Orangutans construct nests in the tree branches for the night in
which they will curl up and sleep. These nests are made out of leaves and branches
and they will sometimes use a leaf as a roof to protect themselves from the rain.

The hierarchy among orangutans is the Noayu, which is where there is a solitary male
. There is marked sexual dimorphism among the orangutans. Females weigh only half
as much as the males. Being lighter, females and juveniles often stay in the trees. Not
only is there a noticeable difference in size, but males also possess quite a few
different characteristics than female orangutans do. For example, males have big
cheek pads and facial hair that resembles a man s moustache and beard. The
numbers or orangutans have recently dropped tremendously owing to loss of
habitat to deforestation and the killing of females for their young, to be sold as
pets or zoo animals. Fewer than 30,000 individuals are believed to remain in the
wild, and the species is listed as endangered (Galdkias, 1987) In relation to my
observation, the orangutans acted very similar in captivity as if they were in the
wild. The space was limited, but for what they had to work with, they displayed
many of the behaviors they would have given they were in the wild. I noticed that
the males remained solitary, as proven in my research. In one instance, Kiko
approached his sister and they groomed for a short amount of time, and Kiko went
into a different section of the enclosure and remained by himself until the end of my
observation. Junior, the dominating male, and father of Kiko, also stayed confined to
himself. There was absolutely no interaction between Junior
An American Child Annie Dillard Summary
In An American Child by Annie Dillard, the theme of exploration is very vivid as
Dillard is maturing and expanding her horizon. Exploration allows Dillard to go
beyond what she has been used to all of her life. To explore is to investigate and
observe in order to learn about unfamiliar things. One explores for the purpose of
discovering something new. Exploration is important because it allows for growth
and a better understanding the world. The theme of exploration plays a major role
in Dillard s coming of age because it changes as she is maturing and that allows her
to move beyond the norm and expand her perspective of the world. As Dillard is

One of the ways that Dillard explored the world around her was by roaming Frick
Park. As she roamed Frick Park, she was able to see cardinals, rows, robins, juncos,

expand the world around her because she began to see new things that she wouldn t
be able to see if she just stayed in her house like her parents or sister. Dillard also
used detective work as a way to explore and expand her thoughts of the world. She
would hang around the Evergreen CafГ© and find people whom she wanted to

of people and broaden her perspective of what she thought of others. As Dillard is
exploring she finds a dime that gets her thinking about treasures. Treasure was
something you dug up pit of the dirt in a chaotic, half forbidden, forsaken place far
removed from the ordinary comings and goings of people who earned salaries in
the light (Dillard 41). At this point Dillard realized that in order to find new and
meaningful things she could not just stick to what she was used to. She had to

A Letter Of My Friendly Classmates
Responding to the first assignment of English 1190, I wrote a memo of one of my
friendly classmates. I ve been lucky enough to be able to know and write about a
courageous, friendly classmate of mine Taylor Tay Lambert. Through my interview
with Tay, I learned about the life of a courageous, fun loving and smart women.
Education:
Tay graduated from Lake View high schoolin 2014, after four years of schooling.
Later on, she attended Macomb and decided to major in laboring delivery nurse.
This is her second year at Macomb and she plans to transfer to Wayne state university
after this year. Not only she wants to transfer to Wayne State but also she s
planning on living in the campus. As a teenager Tay always knew she wanted to
major in nursing, but she never was sure what kind of nursing she wanted to major
in. However after weeks of searching online about the kinds of nursing there are,
laboring delivery nurse got her attention. Tay started searching about this major
and she started watching videos and knowing more and more about this major.
Finally, Tay decided that this is what she wants to do on everyday of her life in the
future. Her love to babies and pregnant women also played a big role on her
decision. Away from her interests in nursing Tay always thought that the idea of
taking cooking class to learn how to cook sounds so much fun. On the other hand
she always hated the math classes that she had to take in her high school years and
the last year of college.

Market For Kidneys
1)Do you think there is a real market for Kidney in the United States? How about
other countries that you may familiar with?
a.Unfortunately, disease is all around the world; millions of people are sick and
often illness affects parts of ones bodies to the point they cannot recover. Body
parts like lungs, hearts, and kidneys often become so sick that they shut down. In
the past couple decades, doctors and scientists have created procedures that can
save these individuals, but it requires someone else dying, or donating one of their
organs; creating a market for organs like kidneys, just like we saw on the clip from
Law Order SVU. Disease is not just present in the United States; people all over the
world are dying from illnesses like kidney
The Need To Improve Evp Essay
The Need To Improve EVP Let s begin with what we know. When an emergency
vehicle responds to an emergency incident, the first responders, i.e., police, fire, and
emergency medical services, want to get there as fast and as safely as possible. The
current Emergency vehicle traffic signal preemption system or EVP will help to get
them to the emergency, but it has its limitations, i.e., line of sight distance of
approximately 2,500 feet (Priority Green) and non emergency vehicle drivers are
inattentive. (US Fire Administration (FEMA)) In 2015, the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported there were 55 crashes across the United
States involving emergency vehicles (Figure 2). Figure 2: NHTSA Fatality Analysis...

(Rainie and Perrin), there may now be a readily available technology to communicate
with a broader audience, similar to the Emergency Alert System (EAS), which also
supports AMBER Alert systems Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) program (Federal
Communications Commission), and improve first responder response times and
reduce accidents. With the availability and preponderance of use of smartphone and
smart vehicle technology, an improved emergency vehicle preemption system is at
hand. The emergency vehicle preemption systems in use today (Figure 3), need to be
upgraded so that when emergency vehicles are enroute to an incident their position is
broadcast to smartphones and smart vehicles along the intended path. Figure 3: EVP
System (nominal) (Maricopa Association of Governments) The new EVP system
(Figure 4) would nominally consist of a smart communications device, i.e., cellphone
or terrestrial emergency services radio transceiver, a terrestrial AM/FM radio
transmitter, and a GPS enabled tablet type device with map software in the
emergency vehicle. The smart communications device(s) would have two way
communications with a centralized traffic control center or system, broadcast one
way signals to the traffic lights along the route, as well

and no child is rushed through its grieving journey. The volunteers work with
children and are responsible for program facilitating, horse maintenance, gardening,
organizing play area, lawn and farm maintenance, office support, and any extra
work needed to keep the farm running smoothly. Giving the children task helps them
with getting back into a routine and a normal living balance. For example, if a child
is instructed to brush the horse from head to cuff, they must go in the order. It will
give the children skills to find balance and responsibility before playtime. Also,
while the children are doing chores they work as a team getting the job done and

Apollo Epicurius Research Paper
Bassae, which was known as Vasses in ancient times was home to numerous
temples. Within the mountains these temples rose up from the natural formations
creating a new impressive landscape. This natural sanctuary soon became one of
the greatest religious centers of the entire Hellenic World (Greek National Tourism
Association). The temples that remain stand as a reminder of the importance of
god and goddess to the people of ancient times. The belief that each helped to
provide for the welfare of communities. They are architerual masterpieces that need
to be saved. People should work to save them and keep them all their treasures in

He was not only known as the god of healing, but as the god of music, depictions of
him usually included him with a gold lyre. He was also known as the Archer with
his arrows he could spread diseases and plagues. As a God of Healing he could
remove such diseases and plagues. He was also the god of truth and of light. The
most important task that Apollo had was to harness the sun to his four horse
chariot, and daily move the sun across the sky (Greek Mythology). It was built in
the middle of the 5th century B.C., and it was not the first temple to stand in its
spot. During an excavation it was found that the Temple had reused blocks from a
previous temple. There have also been artifacts discovered from the 7th, 6th, and 5th
centuries. Votive offerings from as far back as Geometric times have been found.
The temple was constructed by the Greek architect Ictinus. The Temple of Apollo

South Carolina Dbq
The Secession of South Carolina was on December 20th, 1860. This was when the
state of South Carolina drafted the Declaration of the Immediate Causes Which
Induce and Justify the Secession of South Carolina from the Federal Union this
meant that South Carolina was repealing its ratification of the U.S. Constitution.
South Carolinadid this because they felt that the federal government of the Union was
not obeying the Constitution and going against it. They believed that the states had
equal and separate control of its own state and government itself, and they could also
claim slaves as their property and the constitution says that they have the right to do
whatever they want with their property. As for the repercussions of this South

One of them was that they were the first to fall in a line of dominoes in which
more and more states of the south will open their eyes and secede from the Union.
As said by WIECEK, WILLIAM M In it, the Carolinian accused the free states of
violation or half hearted enforcement of the Fugitive Slave Acts, tolerating
abolitionists agitation, and electing a presidential candidate pledged to eventual
abolition of slavery therefore South Carolina declared itself an Independent State,
with full power to levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce,
and to do all other acts and things which the independent states may right do (South
Carolina Ordinance of Secession (1860) 1). This quote explains to us that South
Carolina seceded and left the union, for these reasons. Now, in that time more states
will see and realize that South Carolina was right and that they shouldn t be the only
ones that should leave the union but every slave state should leave the union to create
the confederate states of america. This was the beginning of the war and all there was
left to do was

Furthermore, it has also been suggested that Nike should make public all its audit. A
lot of focus is given to wage rates paid by the company s suppliers. By and large,

Analysis On Value Map Or Value Network Analysis
Section 1: Analysis on a value map or value network analysis
Value Map or value network analysis (VNA) is used for companies to gain full
insights into how business is operating in term of relationship with its external
environment or actors. It is important to understand how to convert intangible or
tangible and knowledge assets and business relationships with external actors into
other forms of negotiable value. Moreover, based on current situation of own value
network analysis, an organization can analyze, evaluate and improve the capability of
a business position.
Lookbook.nu (LB) is a crowd sourced fashion site, founded in 2008, allows users to
upload photos of themselves in their own outfits, providing the brands and links
where such clothing products can be found, in order to get rated, commented by
the rest of the community. Based on the current position of LB s value network
analysis, (i) further analysis on external actors or roles will be made and focus on
the key roles that can benefit and add more value to the business operation, (ii) how
to make good relationship with external actors in order to successfully increase other
actors value and vice versa and finally, based on the existing business position, (iii)
identify and use different success strategies in order to gain more business
opportunities and for value creation.
Firstly, based on the existing value network analysis of LB organization, according to

Examples Of Lexical Cohesion
This paper tackles how cohesion can be effective to make the text more united. Both
cohesive devices; lexical and grammatical, have a powerful role in giving the text
texture. Lexical devices are repetition, antonyms, synonyms, and general words. On
the other hand, grammatical devices are reference, conjunction, and ellipsis. Both of
them provide the text harmony and meaning.
Lexical Cohesion Lexical cohesion occurs when two words are semantically related
to each other such as, repetition, synonyms, antonyms, general words, and
superordinate. Firstly, repetition occurs when one word is mentioned more than one
time throughout the text. To illustrate, the word and is repeated about 22 times in the
text , the word her is repeated around 15 times in paragraphs number 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 11,
and 13, the morpheme mother is repeated 5 times in paragraphs number 1, 8, and 14,
the pronoun I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, conjunctions link between clauses and sentences. They signal the way the
writer wants the reader to relate the sentence to what have been said or what is going
to be said throughout the text. Conjunctions have many types such as, additive,
causal, adversative, and temporal. Additive conjunctions, also in paragraph number 6,
or in paragraph number 3, and in paragraphs number 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14, are
used when the writer wants to add more information to his idea. Causal
conjunctions like, in order to in paragraph number 7, so in paragraph number 8, 9,
and 14, and because in paragraph number 14, are used to tell a reason or a result.
Adversative conjunctions like, but in paragraph 8, and although in paragraph number
11, are used to confirm opposite ideas.
Temporal conjunction like, since in paragraph number 9, is used to confirm

Essay on Grading System Reform
Grading System Reform
Teachers have always used grades to measure the amount a student has learned. This
practice is becoming ineffective. Many students have a wide range of grades, which
show that grades may not show what a student really knows. Therefore, the standard
grading system should be replaced. Some reasons why grades should be replaced are
bad grades can hinder a child s performance, grades define who a student is in the
classroom, and grades are not an effective way to see if students have learned the
material. The current grading system should be upgraded and every school should
incorporate the plus/minus system in their method of grading.

A student can be excluded from their peer groups because they have a bad grade.
Being left out can make a student not want to improve academically. If they get
bad grades others will see them as a poor student and will expect them to do poor
in life. The process most schools use to evaluate student performance is grade point
average and class rank. The academic recognition programs that exist in the United
States are driven by a student s grade point average and class rank. Those measures
serve as the primary method in establishing student recognition. If this ranking is not
the sole factor in the recognition program, it is always included in the student s
assessment. The school culture recognizes individuals that are in the top one third of
the school s class rank
The national dropout rate has been about 15 percent. In 2002, 11 percent of young
people aged 16 to 24 in the civilian, non institutionalized population were not enrolled
in and had not completed high school. While the exact magnitude of the problem
may be elusive, the fact that it s particularly severe in large urban schools has been
understood for some time.
One study looked at high schools in the nation s 35 largest cities and identified 200
to 300 schools about half of the regular and vocational high schools in those cities
where more than 50 percent of the students drop out. A study of Philadelphia schools
found that 57 percent of those who
Dominican Family Values
It s no doubt that culture and family values play a significant role in the self
discovery process. Often times, these social constructs can influence goals, beliefs
and values. Life as a Dominican is one that is built on strong family value, religion,
morality and work ethic. Growing up in a Dominican family, I can remember my
parents instilling strong moral values such as being honest and respecting one
another while emphasizing the need for hard work and education. Much of my
outlook on life can be attributed to the Dominican values of family, discipline and
values taught to me throughout my childhood and adolescence.
Family Structure
Family structure in the Dominican Republic is shaped very traditional in views and
gender roles. Typically, men are held in high reverence within the home while
women take on supporting roles. Men often hold the title of head of household while
women hold domestic roles such a taking care of the household and rearing children
(Howard, 1997; Vazquez, 2005). Children are often taught to respect their elders and
to be obedient. As parents, Dominicans tend to be very protective of their children
and typically demand strict compliance (Vazquez, 2005, p. 223). Even though the
expected roles of husband, wife and children follow common structures of the
traditional household, the typical family is far from nuclear. Household are typically
compound consisting of grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins (Vasquez,
2005, p. 217). Families are

Stephen Beus Concert Report
March/16/2017, Stephen Beus performed several different pieces of music from
several different composers. The concert itself was a formal type event. People
who attended the concert were also dressed formal and fancy like, they look
sophisticated. People wore suits, dresses, some had on formal shirts and pants.
Others wore casual clothing like: Jeans and a t shirt. The lighting of the concert was
also fancy. The lights that were over the audience were dimmed and the lights were

different types of music like concertos. He died of a heart attack in 1989. All of
those pieces from the different composers I mentioned were really good and i
enjoyed the concert a lot, because Stephen Bues is a great pianist and he did a
awesome job. My favorite piece would have to be Fur Alina because of how he

information that I learned in class has helped me be able to actually put vocabulary
words with the pieces that he played, it helped me understand what was going on. If I
had to attend another concert I would definitely go just
My Family Influence In My Life
I grew up on a street called Autumn Place, this was a great place to grow up, as it
was a very quiet neighborhood, with a park just down the street. I lived there for
ten years, until my family was lucky enough to be able to buy there own house,
located on a street called Feeney Place, which was also in a quiet neighborhood,
just no park this time. I have always lived with my mom, dad, and brother, and
each one of them helps me in specific areas that the other person can t, like my
mom helps me get over an emotional problem, my dad helps me with physical
problems, and my brother helps me with academic problems, this is a great living
situation for me. My familyhas always been there for me, probably because I am the
youngest sibling, my brother is older than me, but we have a good relationship, a
mix of rivalry and friendship, which I think is the best kind of relationship to have
with a brother. Both my brother and my dad are big influences, my dad motivates
me to never give up and to always have a good attitude, and my brother motivates
me to do well in school. I have had a life full of experiences, but only three of them
actually influence. For a good while my dad was an alcoholic. After that though, my
kneewas injured multiple times, and then my uncle was arrested. These have all
taught me perseverance, which has made me the strong person I am today.
The earliest experience that influenced was my dad being an alcoholic for at least 8

Social Entrepreneurship And The Rural Sector
Social Entrepreneurship a boom to Rural Sector
Abstract
Villages comprise the base of Indian society and also represent the real India. It is
for these villagers that we need to make sure we build a system that delivers basic
social infrastructure in an effective manner. In order to ensure that the fruits of India s
progress are shared by all sections of the society, the government has identified
several elements of social and economic infrastructure, critical to the quality of life
in rural areas. Its rising middle class demands more than just bread. Food and
agricultural operators based in India and abroad are responding to the country s
demands with an array of high quality food products that contribute to India s
increasing nutritional requirements and add value to India s agricultural supply
chain. However even today there are disparities of development between the rural
and the urban sector. In spite of planning, however, the regional disparity remained a
serious problem in India. A new controversy in this respect is whether growth rates
and standard of living in different regions would eventually converge or not. The
convergence postulates that when the growth rate of an economy accelerates, initially
some regions with better resources would grow faster than others. But after
sometime, when the law of diminishing marginal returns set in, first growth rates
would converge, due to differential marginal productivity of capital (higher in poorer
regions and lower in

Communication is a two way activity between two or more people and occurs
through various modes, some of which are used more commonly in some workplaces
than others. Communication requires that all parties understand a common language
that is exchanged with each other. Business Communication is communication used
to promote a product, service, or organization. The business communication message
is conveyed through various channels of communication, including the internet, print,
radio, television, outdoor, and word of mouth. Business communication helps to
bridge the gap between planning and execution. Efficient communication matters
because business organizations are made up of people and also effective
communication within organisation or outside the organisation increase the image as
well as goodwill of the organisation in the mind of business partner, employees and
consumer. Various research studies have been conducted on this subject and each
study has consistently ranked communication skills as crucial for managers.
Typically, managers spend 75 to 80 percent of their time engaged in some form of
written or oral communication. Business wants and need people with good
communication skills. Although often termed a soft skill, communication in a
business organization provides the critical link between core functions.

The American Of The Canadian Empire
Once considered the gem of the Canadian Crown Corporations, Air Canada was
afflicted by a storm of financial problems in the early nineties. This onslaught of
financial difficulties, which had been created largely by the Gulf War and the
Canadian recession, increased Air Canada s losses increased at worrisome rates.
Then, after suffering losses upwards of $218 million in 1991, the Board of
Directors recognized the need for a corporate overhaul and consequently appointed
Hollis Harris as the Chief Executive Officer the following year. Harris, a 37 year
veteran in the highly competitive American airlineindustry, was given the
challenging task of returning the struggling airline to profitability. When he was
appointed, many Canadians were outraged that an American would lead a privatized
Canadian company and feared this decision to be a step towards the impending
Americanization of the Canadian culture. Others speculated that Harris was
appointed for the sole purpose of training and mentoring Air Canada s future leader .
However, these individuals were all proven wrong when Harris transformed the
reeling airline into a leading competitor in the global airline industry. His American
background, which was condemned by many, played a significant role in the
expanding Air Canada s international reach. His experience in the aviation sector
combined with his extraordinary leadership skills, helped reduce costs and placed Air
Canada on the path to financial recovery. Finally,

The National Spelling Of America Essay
Every year, millions of students, no older than in eighth grade, compete in local
level spelling bees with hopes of making it to the ultimate spelling competition, the
Scripps National Spelling Bee. Held at the end of May or beginning of June each
year, millions of spectators around the world watch the bee, which is held just outside
Washington, DC. The Scripps National Spelling Bee, while a fantastic educational
experience, both for learning the ins and outs of the English language and for
learning about the history of America, is in dire need of reform. I propose to you, the
executives of the E.W. Scripps Company, that the Scripps National SpellingBee
reform the competition by determining the number of spellers from each state in a
way that is proportional to the state s population, standardizing the difficulty of
bees prior to the national level, and decreasing the value of points earned from the
new addition of vocabulary. While spellers competing at the national level follow
various paths to earn their coveted spots, people from certain geographic areas have
a tremendously easier path than others. This difficult discrepancy is largely based
on the number of spellers that each specific state allows to progress to the national
level each year. In the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee, sixteen states, including
Hawaii, Mississippi, and Nevada, sent only one speller from the entire state, while
states such as Ohio and California sent nineteen and seventeen respectively
Rat Control Program Research Paper
Norwegian rats were first discovered on a farm near Alsaska on the eastern border
of Alberta during the summer of 1950. 2 The economic impact of rats is severe due
to their ability to effectively stay concealed in rural parts of a city whilst majorly
reducing crop production from mainly contamination. However, the first concern
presented after the discovery was the potential risk of diseases that may be carried.
Therefore, the decision to halt the migration of Norwegian rats from entering Alberta
commenced in 1950 with Alberta s Department of Agriculture now responsible for rat
control. To help further initiate this program rats were officially declared pests in
1950 which required every person and municipality to destroy and prevent pests...

creatively and physically but, because I love what I do, I would not have it any other

I would like to become a licensed architectin Ontario.
Third year has marked a turning point in my attitudes towards architecture as a began

I am not only interested in the design of buildings but the design and impact of
infrastructure, such as canals, on cities. My interest in canals comes from a trip to
Venice four years ago. For my study abroad I would like to explore the canal cities of
the Netherlands. Giethoorn, the famous Dutch village without streets, is the ultimate
canal city and it is often affectionately called Venice of the North. Some of these
cities, such as Rotterdam and Amsterdam, are of interest to me because of the
eclectic mix of historic and contemporary architecture. These cities are also home to
buildings I have used as precedents for both design and building science courses
throughout my architectural education. The canal houses of Amsterdam would be of
particular interest to me in assessing the influence of infrastructure on architecture. To
understand the role of infrastructure on mobility between cities, I hope to limit myself
to traveling by rail and canal in the
Critique Of The Book Thief
The Book Thief: a break of history
Zusak on The Book Thief present a magnificent story with heartbreaking and
heartwarming moments in which the author captures the reader s heart until the last
chapter. This novel is developed through reality of war and a continuing bombing of
emotions. The author describes the best of humans as well the worst, and the unusual
narrator represents the equal qualities in human race. This novel describes the
consequences of corrupt power and destruction; however, the novel focus the story
around strong women, and particularly the way in which war affects their lives. The
novel illustrates the pain and suffering experienced by mothers, sisters and daughters;
consequently, it represents a break from history which has always concentrated on
the misery of men. The novel gives strong evidence to support the admirable capacity
of women to counteract the consequences of war and multiple moments proves the
hard labor to continuing living. Particularly to survive to poor economy, deal pain of
loss, and perseverance helping more in needs.
In actuality women have more opportunities to work and participate in economics,
but in 1939, beginning of Second World War, the possibilities were limited and the
principal responsible for economic duties were men; ultimately, in 1930 started the
second industrial revolution which meant the industrial area and the technology
grew and took more space in daily life. This put women s skills in second place and

My Life And My Future
When I was in high school, I wanted to travel to Untied State to study in university
there when I finish the high school, and it was my only wish in my life. All I
wanted is go to there and study, but not all wishes in life anyone could be come
true, it should be many things stop in our ways, and something makes us stop
thinking about it and give up. This is our problem we have, but we know that
some of us have a determination and resolve, and we could realize all our wishes
without hesitation. And I was ones of them, I wanted to building my future by my
self. The thing that stopped in my way was my family or rather my father. He
thought that travel to united state is so danger, and I might lose my life if I go
over there and no body knows about me. He was thinking that many danger things
could happened to me when I travel there. In fact, he had bad thinks about united
state, and he thought all happens in the American movies are real, and I might be
one of the victims in there. It was difficult to make my father convinced, although
he knows there is many people went to there and came back to their countries safely
with their certificate. There was no way to make my father agree. I was thinking
many time to find someone who could talk with him and make him agree with that.
One day I was trying to talk with his friends and tell them what I want. Some of them
wasn t want to do that, because if something happened to me there, my father will
blame them, but some of his friends

Immigration and Naturalization witnesses plead with the retainment of security and
the liberalization of racial restrictions on McCarran Immigration Act. In Los Angeles,
California witnesses like Edward H. Gibbons who was a representative the Los

How The Airplane Helped American Society
An airplane is classified as a heavier than air aircraft kept aloft by the upward thrust
exerted by the passing air on its fixed wings and driven by propellers, jet
propulsion, etc. (dictionary.com) The technological innovation idea of the
airplanes was created two centuries before it actually was developed and working
correctly. The first plane that was working successfully was made by the Wright
Brothers, Orville and Wilbur. The Wright Brothers tested the first ever working
airplane on December 17, 1903. Earlier efforts to make an object fly in the air were
hot air balloons, Gliders, kites and more inventions that we see today in the 20th
century. The Wright Brothers took some of these creative inventions and made
their own innovation that we see and use today as an average way of
transportation. The airplane has adapted to the American society over the years.
There were more and more airplanes being upgraded and fixed until eventually it
was normal to get on a plane as a way to travel long distances in a short amount of
time. The plane has also adapted by taking the idea of the invention itself and making
another useful aircraft called the Helicopter.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Politically, Airplanes have helped our American forces become better equipped with
weapons as a way to protect the country and fight for our freedom everyday, airplanes
have become an immense weapon for war. Culturally, airplanes have let American
citizens travel far distances in a shorter amount of time. Economically, Airplanes gave
millions and millions of jobs/occupations to both men and women in the United States
. There are a lot more ways Airplanes have contributed to the American Society, but
these were a few that really stuck out and helped the American
Examples Of Character Development In The Last Question
Character development plays a key role in the plot of all kinds of stories. It can also
help present factors in evolving parts in a story like mood, setting and conflict. In the
short story The Last Question by Isaac Asimov, the structure of the plot illustrates
character transformation in the story. The experiences of Bertram Lupov and
Alexander Adell, Jerrodd and his family along with the disembodied minds in the
MultiVac in the different timelines show transformation and change in the characters
of the story. To Begin, Bertam Lupov and Alexander Adell are the start of the
character development in the first timeline of the story. Firstly, Alexander and
Bertram start off on earthwhere they are two faithful technicians for MultiVac. they...

Firstly, There is this specific character called Man which in my opinion, is all the
disembodied minds combined into one. To show, Man considered with himself, for
in a way, Man, mentally, was one. He consisted of a trillion, trillion, trillion ageless
bodies, each in its place, each resting quiet and incorruptible, each cared for by
perfect automatons, equally incorruptible, while the minds of all the bodies freely
melted one into the other, indistinguishable. (Asimov 305 306). The character
transformation to this point has just completely blossomed into this one character
built up of trillions and trillions of disembodied minds from where we started from
Alexander Adell and Bertram Lupov on planet earth to a massive computer
/spaceship in hyperspace, if that s not character and plot development than I don t
know what is! Secondly, At this point in the story, all of humanity is now
disembodied minds acting as the MultiVac which is basically making this
superhuman. This is because of, The stars and Galaxies died and snuffed out, and
space grew black after ten trillion years of running down. One by one Man fused with
AC, each physical body losing its mental identity in a manner that was somehow not a
loss but a gain. (Asimov 338 339). The character transformation all happens right here
when one by one, humans are turned into minds that merge with the
My American Journey By Wes Moore
[A] recent author and public figure...[Colin Powell, wrote a] book, My American
Journey, [that] helped me harmonize my understanding of America s history and my
aspiration to serve her in uniform...Powell gave me another way to think about the
American dilemma and, more than that, another way to think about my own life
(Moore 131 2). Author Wes Moore wrote the book The Other Wes Moore, both an
autobiography and a biography about a man who shares his name and has a similar
backstory, to demonstrate how people s destinies are primarily influenced by the
environment into which they are born. Examining stories including and similar to
those of both Wes Moores, as well as reflecting on one s own personal experience,
can provide insight into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, even after his positive experience at Job Corps, Moore was so scarred
by the environment in which he was raised that he ended up in prison for life
without parole. Because the two Wes Moores had such different friends, they
ended up becoming separate people and experienced differing levels of success in
their lives. Most people form many of their friendships at school, but even outside
of friends, individuals education alters their mentalities. Without a doubt, actions
like conquering challenging subject matter and overcoming academic struggles
cause some parts of this educational effect, but one s teachers have some of the
greatest influence in education. The instructor teaches with a personal worldview,
one which will incidentally impact the students. For example, some private schools
teach the religion of Christianity, where a living God designed the universe, while
public schools are required to teach the religion of evolution, where everything
exists due to a chance clash of lifeless chemicals. This disparity in beliefs about the
universe s origin fosters strongly opposing ideas about topics such as morals and the
meaning of life that are fundamental to how a person decides to handle any given
situation. The teacher can also inspire a growth or a fixed mindset in students.
Psychology professor Carol Dweck invented this idea of
History, Products And Profitability Indicators
Background: History, Products and Profitability indicators
The Toy Industry of traditional toys has been around since the fourteenth century and
has evolved into a multi billion dollar industry. The Toy Industry big contenders are
Mattel (U.S), Hasbro (U.S), and LEGO (Denmark). Products of this industry include:
action figure/accessories/role play, building sets, dolls, games/puzzles, outdoor and
sport toys, infant/preschool, and all other toys.
The early toy industry began in Nuremberg and Groeden Valley, Germany in the
fourteenth century where craftsmen carved dolls and animal figures out of wood for
youth children to play with. Today, action/accessories/role play figures and dolls are

still brings in billions in gross sales. In reference to the chart 1 Barbie brought in
$1.2753 billion in 2012 compared to $1.2028 billion in 2013. The 12% decrease in
Barbie gross sales reflected product innovation not being strong enough to drive
growth, increased competition within the doll category, along with lower
effectiveness of in store, commercial, and promotional activities (Mattel).
In 1998 Mattel acquired the well established company American Girl Dolls.
American Girl bucked retail trends, expanding its brick and mortar footprint while
still achieving incredibly high online sales numbers the highest in the brand s
history. New store economics are strong, nearly doubling the revenue in a given
market and bringing in between 50 60% new customers to the brand (Mattel Toys).
American Girl Dolls is in the top 4 doll franchises in the world.
During the 18th century tin army toys for boys emerged along with miniature
kitchen sets for girls. The toys during the 18th century were very gender based;
masculine toys for boys, while the girls had toys to encourage household duties and
nurturing. Peddlers sold these toys to middle class families. Today, army and kitchen
toys are still very prevalent in the market. In 1963, the most sophisticated kitchen toy

CLOTHES AND WASHING
43 Don t buy a large machine if you don t need it. For the occasional big wash an
extra cycle or two is cheaper than under using a large washer.
44 Adjust the water level to economically wash a partial load.Otherwise it is better to
wait until you have a full load. But don t overload your machine.
45 Your washer may have features than can save your money.Soak cycles remove
stubborn stains in wash cycle.Suds savers allow you to re use hot water.
46 Use correct type of detergent and cold or tepid water will wash clothes effectively.
LIGHTING
47 Good lighting means avoiding glare and gloom by using the right amount of light
in the right way.
48 Use light translucent shades opaque or dark shades require bigger lamps.
49 Use a good local light near the task. It is more effective and more efficient than a
large central light.
50 Use fluorescent tubes . they use about a quarter of electricity used by ordinary
globes and they last about eight times as long. They CAN be switched on and off as
often as you need without affecting operating cost.
CLOTHES DRYING
51 Use solar energy to dry your clothes it costs nothing.
52 Operate your dryer using the fan alone. Only switch the heater on if it is really
necessary.Vent the dryer outside the house and don t let lint block the vent.

Abiotic Synthesis And The Deep Sea Vent Hypotheses
Although both abiotic synthesis and the deep sea vent hypotheses argue the
environment of a primordial Earth was required for the origin of life, the two
hypotheses have their differences. In general, the abiotic synthesis hypothesis
describes the process of how organic compounds can be created from inorganic
compounds, while the deep sea vent hypothesis argues a possible scenario where
life may have originated from inorganic compounds. While the term primordial
soup has been used to describe abiotic synthesis, the same term has been used to
describe the extreme environment surrounding hydrothermal vents. In Stanley
Miller s experiment, Bada and Lazcano (2008, p.745) argue, Miller showed abiotic
synthesis took place by introducing an electric current to a circulating mixture of
pressurized CH4, NH3, H20, and H2. However, samples of both types of
hydrothermal vents show different mixtures than that of Miller s experiment.
Although the LCHF lacks CO2, according to William Martin, John Baross,
Deborah Kelley, and Michael J. Russell (2008, p.806) the compound was not used
in Miller s experiment, but the vent did release ample amounts of H2 and CH4,
which were used in Miller s experiment. Black smokers, on the other hand, give off
H2, but also release CO2 and H2S (Martin et al., 2008, p.806). The two hypotheses
agree that life on Earth originated around roughly 3.8 billion years ago. Another
similarity between the two hypotheses is both argue the precursors of life are
Emotions, The Ability And The Trait Based Perspectives
There are two perspectives in the study of emotions, the ability and the trait based
perspectives. The ability based perspective views emotions as a skill/tool that can be
learned through social interaction. The trait based perspective is concerned more with
personalities, specifically how the different personalities adapt to personal and social
implementation (Salovey, 1990). In the past most researchers of interpersonal
communication have look at emotions within our social relationships using the trait
perspective. In recent studies though, some researchers have began to look at
emotions within social interactions using the ability perspective.
Researchers have proposed that there are multiple types of intelligence. One type of
intelligence is social intelligence. Initially social intelligence was very broad, being
defined as the ability to understand and manage people. With further research, several
subsets were added to this premise. The subset that is relative to this present research
is, emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is define as, the recognition and use
of one s own and others emotional states to solve problems and regulate behavior,
(Salovey, 1990, p.188). Emotional Intelligence (EI) was conceptualized in the field of
organizational communication.
Within work environments people develop ongoing relationships between themselves
and their colleagues, they become dependent on each other to achieve shared goals,
and have to be aware of how their
Drunk Driving, My Story
Drunk Driving, My Story My dad taught me how to drive his truck the second my
feet could reach the gas pedal. I loved the idea of being able to get into a vehicle
and to have the freedom of traveling anywhere you wanted to. I got my first
vehicle, a beat up Jeep Wrangler, that I repaired with my dad. When I finally got
my drivers license, I felt like I had the world in my hands. That was before the
accident. Now when I think of long road trips, I tense up and grow increasingly
anxious. Whenever I am at a stoplight, I become restless as I stare at the red light
and nervously glance around me for any cars coming my way. I have to drive a big
SUV or else I become very uneasy. I get easily startled on the road and flinch at
cars that come near me. I don t enjoy driving anymore. The thing is, this could have
all been prevented by a simple decision. Driving drunk is not worth the emotional
and physical impact you put on other s lives. December 15, 2015, 8:43 pm. I was
on my way to get a white elephant gift for the Christmas party I had the next day.
As I approached the green light, I quickly decided to go into the left turn lane to go
a different route. As I sat at the red light, I fiddled with the worn away part of my
steering wheel partly out of boredom and partly from being nervous about the final I
had the next morning. I looked around blatantly not knowing that in the next couple
of seconds, my life was going to change. I looked in the rear view mirror at the blurry
truck

Apa Reflective Essay.pdf

  • 1. Apa Reflective Essay Writing an APA reflective essay can be quite challenging, requiring a delicate balance between personal introspection and adherence to the strict formatting guidelines of the APA style. The process involves not only expressing one's thoughts and experiences but also ensuring that the content is organized, properly cited, and follows the prescribed structure. One of the challenges lies in seamlessly integrating personal reflections with scholarly writing. Striking the right tone, avoiding overly casual language, and maintaining a professional demeanor can be demanding. Additionally, crafting a compelling introduction that captivates the reader's attention while clearly presenting the purpose of the reflective essay can be a daunting task. Moreover, the meticulous attention to detail required by APA formatting adds another layer of complexity. Ensuring correct citation of sources, adherence to the guidelines for headings, subheadings, and the overall structure can be time-consuming. The need for precision in formatting, from margins to font size, can be particularly demanding for those new to APA style. Furthermore, the reflective nature of the essay may bring about a need for self-disclosure and vulnerability, which can be challenging for some writers. Striking the right balance between openness and maintaining a sense of professionalism requires careful consideration. In summary, writing an APA reflective essay demands a combination of personal insight, scholarly expression, and strict adherence to formatting guidelines. Navigating through these elements can be a complex and demanding process, requiring a keen eye for detail and a commitment to both personal expression and academic rigor. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any academic writing challenges, it's worth exploring resources like HelpWriting.net, where expert guidance and support are readily available. • 2. The Bloody Chamber As a feminist, it is almost to be expected that many of Angela Carter s happy ever after endings will strike the reader with a bold feminist message. However, in The Bloody Chamber, this is not necessarily the case. Although there are several feminist messages in the stories resolutions, these messages are not always presented in the way one would expect, and not every femaleprotagonistis presented as a feminist character. By taking the roles of typically Gothic women and toying with the presentation of female characters, many of Carter s feminist messages are not as one would expect. The eponymous story The Bloody Chamberends with a sense of resolution, love and happiness. The antagonist of the story is no more, and the narrator is able to live a happy and fulfilling life with Jean Yves. Whether the ending is truly feminist, however, is open to discussion. In one respect, the actual resolution to the story is all down to the narrator s mother, who is presented at the story s climax as an incredibly powerful female figure. Carter uses masculine and bestial imagery to describe the mother, in a way that is not dissimilar to earlier imagery to describe the Marquis. The narrator refers to her mother s hair as her white mane ; just as earlier she had referenced the Marquis s dark mane . The juxtaposition between light and dark here is a typical example of Gothic extremes; while the Marquis seems to represent darkness the supernatural and evil the mother is

The Signs of Suicide program is an award winning program and it is also a nationally recognized program (). The Signs of Suicide program is designed for youth of various ages ranging from middle school and the way to high school(). This program helps students learn how to point out signs of depression and suicidein themselves or in their friends or family. This program recognizes the emotional distress that often follows the aftermath of a completed suicide. Suicide, according to the Signs of Suicide Program is both recognizable and treatable. A well designed prevention program can educate the youth on how to spot the warning signs of depression, in people they love. The Signs of Suicide Program provides everyday risk management tools and information to judge, prevent and respond to signs of suicide (). This program is split up into two different presentation groups; Middle school and High school students. This is because both programs are administered slightly different in terms of content. The high school program is appropriate for students in grades 9 12, and the middle school is designed for grades 6 8. In both the high school and middle school programs they stress involvement of peer and classmates as part of its plan to prevent suicide. Studies show that youth are more likely to turn to peers or classmates rather than adults when facing the
  • 4. Ancient Atomic Theory And John Dalton Ancient Atomic Theory John Dalton Many people struggled to understand the nature of matter. Some said it was made of water and some said it was fire. A few others believed that whatever matter was made of, it must be something that could not be destroyed. Atomic theory attempts to answer what all things are made of. It states that all matter is composed of extremely small particles called atoms. The word atommeant indivisible in Greek and was first used by Democritus, a Greek philosopher (Similar to a scientist at that time). Democritus believed that atoms are indivisible and unchangeable, their shape, size and orientation in space explains the existence of different substances and materials. While Democritus ideas aren t acceptable today, because atoms are divisible... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Democritus had a nice idea, it was not enough for some scientists in the late 1700 s. Scientists like Joseph Priestly, Antoine Lavoisier demonstrated that substances could combine to form new materials. Yet, it was John Dalton who combined these ideas. He worked with the pressures and weights of different gases, which led him to believe that their properties are dependent on atoms. He thought that atoms from different elements could combine to form the known elements. He was the first person to make an attempt in making a table of atomic weights, which was a giant leap towards the making of the future Periodic Table Dalton s atomic theory contains of five assumptions: All matter consists of tiny particles called atoms. Dalton and other scientists imagined the atoms as tiny, solid spheres in some stages of motion. Atoms are indestructible and unchangeable. Atoms of an element cannot be created, destroyed nor divided into smaller pieces or transformed into atoms of another element. This was based on the law of conservation of mass, as stated by Antoine
  • 5. Twin-Personal Narrative I am a statistic. I am the 1 in 285 Americans that has an identical twin. Although these are merely numbers, they mean a lot more than that to me. It means I have a twin sister, Chloe, who has the same DNA as I do and looks exactly like me (or so I m told). Our unique situation has led to a unique relationship. From head to toe, Chloe and I look extremely similar. Her hair is long and blonde like mine, and our eyes are the same size and hazel in color. Our shoulders are similar. Our arms are long in comparison to our bodies. We have the same shirt size and our waists are the exact same measurement. We both have long legs, scattered with volleyball bruises. Our feet are exactly the same size. Although I know these likenesses to be true, all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I m wearing something that doesn t earn her approval, I immediately have to change. Whenever I say something that she thinks is obvious or stupid when we re with a group of our friends, she often corrects me not long after. I don t even try to embellish my stories anymore, because Chloe is quick to correct me with a that never happened. Although she likes to point out what I m doing wrong, she ll always defend me when necessary. When someone insults me, she takes it personally, and vise versa. Once, in fifth grade, a girl on my bus reached over the green, scratchy seat and hit me lightly on the head. It was a confusing experience, and now I realize it was probably for a dare, but Chloe was furious. She glared at her and insulted her vehemently until she apologized, her face red. No one else could possibly know all the things that Chloe knows about me. No one else knows I was deathly afraid of the dark in 4th grade and still don t like dark rooms to this day. No one else knows that she sucked her thumb until she was eight. Because we know so much about one another, we can be completely real around each other. We tell each other exactly how we feel all the time. We relate to other and always have something to discuss because we have the same friends and interests. We are there for each other in every

Major Challenges of the Constitution and the Founding Class Many factors all played a role as to why the Constitution in our modern days today are affecting we the people. Anywhere from the balance of power of that to the role of the federal/state government. We see the flaws and how much of an impact it has brought upon us as Americans because of what our Founding Fathers had done for us in the past. Our government s main activity was to control the foreign policy and conclude treaties. But, of course such a thing could not be done when we owed about 42 million (more than 46 billion today) after the Revolutionary War. The rebellion was most serious in Massachusetts, where bad harvests, economic depression, and high taxes endangered farmers with the loss of their farms. The rebellion took its name from the symbolic frontrunner, Daniel Shays of Massachusetts, a former captain in the Continental army. It all began summer of 1786 in Massachusetts. The rebels had tried to capture the federal arsenal at Springfield and harassed leading merchants, lawyers, and supporters of the sate government. General Benjamin Lincoln, crushed many of the rebels in several engagements in the winter of 1787. Shay and the other principal figures had first fled to Rhode Island then to Vermont. Even this never seriously threatened or endangered the stability of the United States, Shay s Rebellion greatly alarmed politicians throughout the nation. Advocates of constitutional reform at the national level cited the rebellion as justification for revision or replacement of the Articles of Confederation, and Shay s Rebellion figured prominently in the debates over the framing and ratification of the

Paideia Examples Paideia refers to an ancient Greek philosophy centered around the upbringing of a child more specifically, the gathering and instilling of ideal characteristics into said child that would in turn make them into an ideal member of society . The Greeks saw it fit to not only be well put together physically but also spiritually and mentally. They had events in place such as wrestling and gymnastics to build one s physical. They also delved into concepts such as the study of music, poetry and philosophy which they believed kept one s moral compass pointing in the right direction. Even among those gifted with strong personalities, I feel as if though I still step out as the leader among them. For example, I recently participated in a mock debate that showed the top 3 candidates of the 2016 Presidential Election. Speaking in front of people, whether it be a crowd of 5 or 500, makes fear course through my veins. However, my group members wanted me to be the spokesperson and I agreed. When the day came for me to get in front of the crowd of over 200 people, I felt slightly faint but I had a group that were depending on me. Therefore, I had to push my fears and my worries aside. That is what I believe a true leader is. A true leader to me is not the person who leads fearlessly but the person who finds strength from deciding that the needs of those they are leading trump their fears.Character is defined as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual . I am no saint but I think overall I am a very morally upright person. I can honestly say that I am kind to everyone even when they are not kind to me. Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and is one of the most developed cities throughout the country , but still coming from a well developed community, our community still faced several problems which lacked moral values and infrastructural developments within the community. Although our communities lacked on certain things , people in our community were still able to provide a good amount of resources to each community which was in need of any kind of help or resources. My Community is very much important to me because it is a big part of my life and my journey to where i am right now.The community that i live in plays a significant role in shaping the way i am right now. • 9. What Is The Relationship Between Abigail Williams And John... It all started with Abigail Williams and John Proctor fooling around. John Proctor has a wife and he continues to flirt with Abigail Williams. Abigail was a housemaid for the Proctor family, but was recently fired because Elizabeth Proctor had suspicions and did not like Abigail. After, John still did not stop flirting with her. He would go to her house. John just does not know how crazy Abigail is. Abigail Williams fell for John Proctor while being a housemaid for the Proctors. Abigail wanted John because he looked good. When Abigail and all of her friends got caught for dancing in the woods and chanting something to a fire, she would do anything to get the heat off of her. John kept seeing Abigail during the night behind his wife s back. Elizabeth has never lies. At the end of the play, she lies to save John, her husband s life. The reasons Abigail Williams loves John Proctor are very different than how Elizabeth loves John. Abigail just likes John for his looks. Elizabeth loves John genuinely for him and who he is. Abigail is bad and wants to bring anyone down that is in her way. Whereas Elizabeth just wants what s best for everyone. Abby likes to bring people down and Elizabeth doesn t want to hurt anyone. Abigail accuses people, innocent people. Elizabeth doesn t accuse people. This is my opinion on the relation between these two women. One is honorable and good. The other is a lying conniving sneaky evil person. There are people like that back then and there still are today. Elizabeth was a good genuine person and Abigail was

He then went away from Argos with only his infant child called Aegisthus after cursing both Orestes and his descendants. After the death of Orestes, the throne was left under Agamemnon his son, who later married a daughter of Sparta s king. They bore three children, of which one inherited his father s throne upon death. The remaining son of Orestes married Helen, who became king of Sparta upon her father s death. Another seduction in the descendants of Orestes occurs. Later after the wedding, Paris who was the son of Troy s king, seduced Helen then took her away. A great force was organized to restore Helen to her husband. However, due to adverse winds, they were unable to sail towards Troy. They appeased goddess Artemis to calm the winds by sacrificing a young girl who arrived at the camp. They sailed to Troas but there was a lot of justification of the murder of their mother by Orestes who was later afflicted with madness then goes to become a spirit to hunt and punish murderers

Moreover, Bernarda s ideals on social status are made clear when Lorca has her reveal the reason for her sending away Enrique Humanes. This was because His father was a farmhand , the effect of this being Martirio s assurances that she will never marry. The uncertainties Bernarda s eldest daughter, Angustias, feels about love, and her inexperience of this is revealed by her apprehensive questions and statement of I ought to be happy but I m not . This naivety is emphasised by the all woman cast. The play opens with the death of the house s sole male inhabitant which furthers this impression and creates an ironic foreshadowing of the extreme conditions of siege which Bernarda forces upon her daughters. The distance between Bernarda and her eldest daughter is made apparent by the short answers Angustias confidences receive and the physical violence Bernarda directs at her when she strikes her with her stick in Act one. This, combined with the large sum Angustias inherits from her stepfather, intimates that she was favoured in his will because of some closer relationship; a possibility that she, like the Servant, was sexually taken advantage of. This adds a greater emphasis to the implication of hidden secrets held by the household. Later in the extract the blackness of the sky outside,

The Years 1918-1939, Which Separate World War I From World The years 1918 1939, which separate World War I from World War II, witnessed profound changes in how technologically advanced military organizations would fight. In most of the cases, during peacetime, military innovation, and technological developments played an empowering or helping role in advancing profoundly new and more operative ways of fighting. In a narrow and strict sense, such innovative improvements were revolutionary. The technological revolution reached the battlefields and forever changed the way that armies required from the fragile airplanes and unreliable tanks of World War Ito evolve into more sophisticated weapons by the late 1930s. Consequently, to the influence of World War I boosted Germany to develop early by the 1920s the coherent combined arms doctrine that focused on decentralization command and control or mission type orders, speeding, surprising, or the aggressive exploitation of every weakness in enemy defensive systems. One of the lessons learned after the first world conflict is the necessity of using the third dimension on military operations. That assumption has been conceptualizing by theorist through doctrine and implements differently from one country to another. The doctrine concerning air force warfare was a direct influence of World War I as a revolution on this domain. The challenge of many military theorists concerned the emergence of the aircraft as a weapon and the adaptation of this emerging capability on military operations. One of the Airpower advocates Giulio Douhet consider the airpower as a tool to use to avoid trench warfare and dramatically shorten wars. Thus, aircraft would attack an enemy s sources of assets and it is the key to destroying the
  • 13. Why Women Should Not Be Sexualized And Objectified The Way... David Dale 1 Why women should not be sexualized and objectified the way they are in video games today: Most of us would already know that women s representation in the media is highly sexualized and that women are regularly portrayed in a sexual manner and are objectified in all forms of media whether it be in magazines, online, television, movies, music videos, and of course video games (Wu, 2014). Many people derive gratification from what they read and hear every day without thinking about the way that women are being portrayed in these forms of media. Women are regularly used as an object to sell a game or used as eye candy to advertise and sell a product. The way that women in today s society are objectified and sexualized in media especially video games can lead to later unsocial behaviour by the participant and that s not a positive or desirable result for society. Video games have long been known as a male dominated media, when it comes to the market audience, player base, and character representation in game. Research concerning gender representation in video games often focuses on a few key points of how men and women are viewed differently, things like physical abilities, role in the game, and physical attributes are just a few to point out (Zorrilla, 2011). Something that is used a lot in video games is the sexualized depiction of female characters, the overwhelming masculinity of the implied game player, and the recurring structure of male heroes or characters

Each one in his or her own way inspires legions of fans, as well as critics, as historians find literal treasure troves of documents, letters, and personal memorabilia to reconstruct the mythical figures from the contemporary literature. Yet, one figure escapes such recognition and receives relatively odd reception: Jane Austen. By 1890, Godwin Smith, in the Life of Jane Austen, argued that there was little more to say about Austen than what her family recorded and made an important argument for her role as an authoress of manners, not romance. With the Romantic Movement still fresh in mind, the legacy that Austen holds today reads like an insult by her biographers. Similarly, A C. Bradley s 1911 essay, Jane Austen: A Lecture, continues the same condescending tone and rejection of Jane s similarities to her contemporaries. While remarking on the enjoyable nature of her novels, he opens by saying that does not bind him to rank her with the greatest novel writers . Jane s writing largely concerns itself with humor and at a distant second, morality. This means she, as a humorist and moralist, does not stand out in the period beyond her gender. In comparison, her contemporaries outweigh her by their writing of natural states, rather than

We are talking about sun: the sun is the main source of energy because it starts many processes like photosynthesis, the greenhouse effect, and other cycles. You have the right to decide whether or not family members are privy to your medical information. If you are changing jobs, why worry about health insurance coverage. Picture this. A woman called a local hospital and inquired about the condition of a patient. She was informed by the nurse that the patient was on a ventilator and could not talk. Even though interaction seems perfectly harmless, it was actually a clear violation of the privacy of the patient. A prescription for a local analgesic was presented to the pharmacist for a patient with a name similar to a patient already on file. The prescription was filled for the current patient who was actually the father, and not the patient. The pharmacist assumed that the patient was the father and shared with the patient that there was another medication that he had filled for you and asked, Would you also like to pick up that medication also ? The father was not present and therefore could not object to the sharing of this information with the son. In the past, if you had a preexisting disease such as chronic fatigue or pregnancy, you could be denied health care coverage. Because Congress stepped in to assist and fix the healthcare system, denial of insurance because of a preexisting disease is not accepted. In view of this significant law, this paper will

Analysis of the Orangutan Pongo Pygmaeus Essay Analysis of the Orangutan Pongo Pygmaeus The orangutan, Pongo pygmaeus, is an ape that is found in the moist, coastal rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo which consists of Indonesia s Kalimantan provinces, Malaysia s Sabath and Sarawak, and the kingdom of Brunei Darussalam. Orangutans live in tropical rainforests and are arboreal primates meaning that they are tree dwelling. The hierarchy among orangutans is the Noayu, which is where there is a solitary male . There is marked sexual dimorphism among the orangutans. Females weigh only half as much as the males. Being lighter, females and juveniles often stay in the trees. Not only is there a noticeable difference in size, but males also possess quite a few different characteristics than female orangutans do. For example, males have big cheek pads and facial hair that resembles a man s moustache and beard. The numbers or orangutans have recently dropped tremendously owing to loss of habitat to deforestation and the killing of females for their young, to be sold as pets or zoo animals. Fewer than 30,000 individuals are believed to remain in the wild, and the species is listed as endangered (Galdkias, 1987) In relation to my observation, the orangutans acted very similar in captivity as if they were in the wild. The space was limited, but for what they had to work with, they displayed many of the behaviors they would have given they were in the wild. I noticed that the males remained solitary, as proven in my research. In one instance, Kiko approached his sister and they groomed for a short amount of time, and Kiko went into a different section of the enclosure and remained by himself until the end of my observation. Junior, the dominating male, and father of Kiko, also stayed confined to himself. There was absolutely no interaction between Junior

  • 40. The National Spelling Of America Essay Every year, millions of students, no older than in eighth grade, compete in local level spelling bees with hopes of making it to the ultimate spelling competition, the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Held at the end of May or beginning of June each year, millions of spectators around the world watch the bee, which is held just outside Washington, DC. The Scripps National Spelling Bee, while a fantastic educational experience, both for learning the ins and outs of the English language and for learning about the history of America, is in dire need of reform. I propose to you, the executives of the E.W. Scripps Company, that the Scripps National SpellingBee reform the competition by determining the number of spellers from each state in a way that is proportional to the state s population, standardizing the difficulty of bees prior to the national level, and decreasing the value of points earned from the new addition of vocabulary. While spellers competing at the national level follow various paths to earn their coveted spots, people from certain geographic areas have a tremendously easier path than others. This difficult discrepancy is largely based on the number of spellers that each specific state allows to progress to the national level each year. In the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee, sixteen states, including Hawaii, Mississippi, and Nevada, sent only one speller from the entire state, while states such as Ohio and California sent nineteen and seventeen respectively

Rat Control Program Research Paper Norwegian rats were first discovered on a farm near Alsaska on the eastern border of Alberta during the summer of 1950. 2 The economic impact of rats is severe due to their ability to effectively stay concealed in rural parts of a city whilst majorly reducing crop production from mainly contamination. However, the first concern presented after the discovery was the potential risk of diseases that may be carried. Therefore, the decision to halt the migration of Norwegian rats from entering Alberta commenced in 1950 with Alberta s Department of Agriculture now responsible for rat control. When rats consume the fatal poison, it takes a week for the poison to cause fatality. Consequently, during that week, the rat becomes vulnerable to prey due to their recent illness and therefore poses a high potential risk in predators higher up in the food chain to consume and build up the poison which may become fatal to

For me, architecture successfully fuses my artistic and scientific interests. Any architecture student can comment on the ways architecture programs push students mentally, creatively and physically but, because I love what I do, I would not have it any other way. An architectural education opens the door for many career paths and, ultimately, I would like to become a licensed architectin Ontario. My interest in canals comes from a trip to Venice four years ago. For my study abroad I would like to explore the canal cities of the Netherlands. Giethoorn, the famous Dutch village without streets, is the ultimate canal city and it is often affectionately called Venice of the North. Some of these cities, such as Rotterdam and Amsterdam, are of interest to me because of the eclectic mix of historic and contemporary architecture. These cities are also home to buildings I have used as precedents for both design and building science courses throughout my architectural education. The canal houses of Amsterdam would be of particular interest to me in assessing the influence of infrastructure on architecture. To understand the role of infrastructure on mobility between cities, I hope to limit myself to traveling by rail and canal in the

Critique Of The Book Thief The Book Thief: a break of history Zusak on The Book Thief present a magnificent story with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments in which the author captures the reader s heart until the last chapter. This novel is developed through reality of war and a continuing bombing of emotions. The author describes the best of humans as well the worst, and the unusual narrator represents the equal qualities in human race. This novel describes the consequences of corrupt power and destruction; however, the novel focus the story around strong women, and particularly the way in which war affects their lives. The novel illustrates the pain and suffering experienced by mothers, sisters and daughters; consequently, it represents a break from history which has always concentrated on the misery of men. The novel gives strong evidence to support the admirable capacity of women to counteract the consequences of war and multiple moments proves the hard labor to continuing living. Particularly to survive to poor economy, deal pain of loss, and perseverance helping more in needs. In actuality women have more opportunities to work and participate in economics, but in 1939, beginning of Second World War, the possibilities were limited and the principal responsible for economic duties were men; ultimately, in 1930 started the second industrial revolution which meant the industrial area and the technology grew and took more space in daily life. This put women s skills in second place and all

The first plane that was working successfully was made by the Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur. The Wright Brothers tested the first ever working airplane on December 17, 1903. Earlier efforts to make an object fly in the air were hot air balloons, Gliders, kites and more inventions that we see today in the 20th century. The Wright Brothers took some of these creative inventions and made their own innovation that we see and use today as an average way of transportation. The airplane has adapted to the American society over the years. The character transformation to this point has just completely blossomed into this one character built up of trillions and trillions of disembodied minds from where we started from Alexander Adell and Bertram Lupov on planet earth to a massive computer /spaceship in hyperspace, if that s not character and plot development than I don t know what is! Without a doubt, actions like conquering challenging subject matter and overcoming academic struggles cause some parts of this educational effect, but one s teachers have some of the greatest influence in education. The instructor teaches with a personal worldview, one which will incidentally impact the students. For example, some private schools teach the religion of Christianity, where a living God designed the universe, while public schools are required to teach the religion of evolution, where everything exists due to a chance clash of lifeless chemicals. This disparity in beliefs about the universe s origin fosters strongly opposing ideas about topics such as morals and the meaning of life that are fundamental to how a person decides to handle any given situation. The teacher can also inspire a growth or a fixed mindset in students. Psychology professor Carol Dweck invented this idea of

  • 51. Abiotic Synthesis And The Deep Sea Vent Hypotheses Although both abiotic synthesis and the deep sea vent hypotheses argue the environment of a primordial Earth was required for the origin of life, the two hypotheses have their differences. In general, the abiotic synthesis hypothesis describes the process of how organic compounds can be created from inorganic compounds, while the deep sea vent hypothesis argues a possible scenario where life may have originated from inorganic compounds. While the term primordial soup has been used to describe abiotic synthesis, the same term has been used to describe the extreme environment surrounding hydrothermal vents. In Stanley Miller s experiment, Bada and Lazcano (2008, p.745) argue, Miller showed abiotic synthesis took place by introducing an electric current to a circulating mixture of pressurized CH4, NH3, H20, and H2. However, samples of both types of hydrothermal vents show different mixtures than that of Miller s experiment. Although the LCHF lacks CO2, according to William Martin, John Baross, Deborah Kelley, and Michael J. Russell (2008, p.806) the compound was not used in Miller s experiment, but the vent did release ample amounts of H2 and CH4, which were used in Miller s experiment. Black smokers, on the other hand, give off H2, but also release CO2 and H2S (Martin et al., 2008, p.806). The two hypotheses agree that life on Earth originated around roughly 3.8 billion years ago. Another similarity between the two hypotheses is both argue the precursors of life are
  • 52. Emotions, The Ability And The Trait Based Perspectives There are two perspectives in the study of emotions, the ability and the trait based perspectives. The ability based perspective views emotions as a skill/tool that can be learned through social interaction. The trait based perspective is concerned more with personalities, specifically how the different personalities adapt to personal and social implementation (Salovey, 1990). In the past most researchers of interpersonal communication have look at emotions within our social relationships using the trait perspective. In recent studies though, some researchers have began to look at emotions within social interactions using the ability perspective. Researchers have proposed that there are multiple types of intelligence. One type of intelligence is social intelligence. Initially social intelligence was very broad, being defined as the ability to understand and manage people. With further research, several subsets were added to this premise. The subset that is relative to this present research is, emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is define as, the recognition and use of one s own and others emotional states to solve problems and regulate behavior, (Salovey, 1990, p.188). Emotional Intelligence (EI) was conceptualized in the field of organizational communication. Within work environments people develop ongoing relationships between themselves and their colleagues, they become dependent on each other to achieve shared goals, and have to be aware of how their
