This paper presents a novel shadow detection method that combines the tricolor attenuation model (TAM) with adaptive histogram equalization (AHE) to enhance shadow detection in still images. By improving the contrast of the TAM image and integrating it with intensity images, the method effectively identifies shadow regions while avoiding false positives, thus enhancing the performance of various computer vision applications. The approach requires only one threshold for detection and eliminates the need for segmentation, making it more robust and easier to implement.
