Ofc Lazic Observation Report Sample
I Ofc Lazic responded to 303 E Manor Dr to assist Ofc A. Sekula #74 for a subject passed out inside
the vehicle. The subject was later identified as Andrew Dobosz by officers previous encounters with
him. The vehicle was parked backwards in the driveway of 303 E Manor Dr. I walked around the
vehicle to position myself in a tactical area for officer safety. Andrew was already out of the vehicle
and standing by the driver s door with it being open. This officer noticed Andrew was dazed, confused
and appeared to be intoxicated on an unknown drug.
While I visually searched the area for possible weapons, I noticed a green bag lying on the ground
where it was at arms reach to Andrew. The bag was open and I observed in plain view a yellow

Jury Trial Experience
On the internship at the Miami County District Court, Kansas Together with colleagues from ULIM
and other universities, I undertook a legal internship at the Miami County District Court, Kansas,
organized by the Leavitt Institute for international development. We had the privilege to watch in
action the US judges, prosecutors and lawyers. At the Johnson County District Court, I have witnessed
a jury trial. This was the highlight of our overseas experience, as the 12 citizen deciding on the
innocence of the defendant are the core of the American legal system. We were really surprised by the
American journalists interest in us, students from Moldova studying their justice system. Following

Thanks to the efforts of the American counterpart, the young lawyers that really want to change the
system are identified and given the chance to network. The US experience will allow me to do my part
in ensuring a better functioning of our justice system. The Leavitt Institute Courses The teaching
methods of the Canadian and US professors are very different from those that we are used to in high
school or university. Our american teachers used the socratic method to make us come to the right
answers through open discussions and the fact that the lectures were not mandatory eliminates some of
the frustration that we re not always performing optimally. The JET Initiative helps the development
of critical thinking and represents a good occasion to practice English for both beginners and
advanced students. A big advantage in this sense is the translation provided throughout the courses. At
the final of the lecture cycle, the students representing the six universities implicated in the project use
the theoretical knowledge in a simulated trial environment. They play lawyers and prosecutors

Icarus Research Paper
One of the biggest issues parents deal with every day is making sure their children obey their orders.
Although it seems like a simple task to adults, many young teens take pride in disobedience as it
allows them to feel independent. This goes back to the phenomenon of reverse psychology. This
anomaly is revealed in numerous ancient tales such as the forbidden fruit, and even Shakespeare s
Romeo and Juliet. Ovid s myth Daedalus and Icarus is yet another example of disobedience; however,
there is much more to it than that. Well before the first flight, the ancient Greeks predicted the risks of
entering into the realm of the gods (Rogers). Daedalus and his son, Icarus, wanted to escape a
labyrinth that they were trapped in. Knowing they couldn t escape by land or sea, Daedalus, a great
inventor, fabricated two sets of wings with wax and feathers. He warned his son Icarus that if he flew
too high the sun would melt the wings, or if he flew too low the water would splash up and soak the
wings causing him to fall. After only a few minutes of flight Icarus becomes engulfed by the
excitement of flight and continues to ascend. As a result the wings melt and he falls to his death. The
story of Daedalus and Icarus centers on the desire to explore despite inherent teachings that stress the
importance of following rules.
The first evidence of the story of Icarus existing comes from an ancient piece of pottery

The Depressing Life of an Old Woman in Death in the Woods...
Sherwood Anderson s Death in the Woods tells story of the depressing life of an old woman told many
years later by a man who narrates the short story. This short story is driven by a plot structure that is
told by a sequence of events, a narrator who tells the story, characters, theme, symbolism, and tone.
Death in the Woods narrates a sequence of events the life and death of Mrs. Grimes in its plot
structure. This story does not just express the old woman s tale, but re tells it. The reader follows the
narrator s mental processes as he intertwines a series of half remembered, half fictionalized images,
jumping from the old woman s history to his own. In the first telling of the story, the narrator s brother
gives an inadequate version of it, which causes the narrator to tell it properly according to him. Death
in the Woods begins with the narrator s account of a certain type of old woman, describing her trips
into town and characterizing her as nothing special. The exposition in Death in the Woods is
uncovered throughout the story. Through the narrator, the reader is introduced to the characters. The
characters, although, are perceived and viewed by the narrator in a specific aspect, which foes not give
the reader a full understanding of the characters. This short story focuses on the central conflict of the
events surrounding Mrs. Grimes freezing to death in the woods and the ensuing discovery of her body,
but the story has several small conflicts throughout

Sources Of Alternative Energy Sources
Alternate Energy Sources
Alternative energy sources are becoming more and more popular. The most important alternative
energy sources are solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, ocean, and hydropower energies. Their main
advantage lies in the resumption of energy resources. This paper will give information about each of
sources as well as their advantages and disadvantages.
Solar energy
The Sun is a leading environmentally clean energy source. The process of generating electricity from
sunlight has been known for over a hundred years. Edmond Becquerel first observed the photovoltaic
effect in 1839 (Zamostny, p. 1). Through a series of experiments on electricity, he plunged two metal
electrodes in a conductive solution and exposed it to sunlight. As a result, there was a small electrical
voltage between electrodes.
Solar energy is used to produce electricity and heat water. The advantages of this energy are noiseless,
lack of air emissions, and renewability of source. The disadvantages of solar energy include a
dependence on solar power from the daily, seasonal position of the Sun, weather conditions, and the
need for large areas for the construction of solar power plants. Also, a serious environmental problem
is the use of toxic substances in the manufacture of solar cells that cause a problem of their disposal.
Wind energy
A second alternative energy source is wind energy. It is used for electricity and actuates a windmill.
Inexhaustibility is the primary advantage of wind

Marigolds Short Story
At a young age, children do not understand the importance of having compassion as for they hold
innocence within themselves. Growing up and maturing into an adult, children begin to progressively
lose their innocence as they become more of a compassionate person because one can not have both
innocence and compassion simultaneously. In fact, a coming of age short story called Marigolds
written by Eugenia Collier, tells about a young girl named Lizabeth who grows up to become a
compassionate person. For the most part, Lizabeth tells her childhood experience in a flashback on
how she mostly remembers Miss Lottie s marigolds. Ultimately, Lizabeth decides to destroy Miss
Lottie s marigolds out of anger because she hears about her parent s economic struggles. Shortly after
Lizabeth realizes what she had done, she realizes the meaning of why Miss Lottie plants the
marigolds. Throughout the short story, Marigolds, the characterization of Lizabeth helps develop the
author s argument that one can not have both compassion and innocence. The three events that show
this is, when Lizabeth hesitates before throwing the rocks at the marigolds, hearing the sounds of her
father s sorrowful cries, and eliminating Miss Lottie s marigolds. Collier s argument in Marigolds was
that one cannot have both compassion and innocence and this is revealed through the event where
Lizabeth decides to throw rocks at the marigolds. Her character develops to becoming a
compassionate person

How Did Abraham Lincoln The American Dream
Abraham Lincoln also well known as Abe , was born February 12, 1809, in Hardin County, Kentucky
and his parents, Thomas and Nancy Lincoln were both born in Virginia. He wasn t the most well
known kid growing up, but as he got older he ear gave America many reasons to know him for his
amazing deeds. He was president of the united states during the civil war where he made many great
improvements to our nation. Three years into his presidency, Lincoln issued the emancipation
proclamation which freed all the black slaves and ended the discrimination on race. After his
assassination, he was put onto the five dollar bill and the one cent coin. Lincoln was president of the

He issued the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the
Confederacy in 1863 Right after he served as commanding general in the Civil war between the north
and the south. The civil war lasted four years while there were eleven southern states saying that
slaves should be legal, but the north disagreed and fought to free the blacks.
Abe is also on the one cent and the five dollar bill. He is on the one cent also called the Lincoln Penny
because of his bravery and good deeds in the United States, when in service as president. Lincoln is as
well on the five dollar bill because of his singing of the emancipation approximation. On the five
dollar bill, it is a picture of Abe on the front and then the Lincoln memorial on the back.
Abraham Lincoln was a great role model for The United States of America. Abe did wonderful things
while serving as our 16th president, for instance, issuing the Emancipation Proclamation, fighting
against slavery during the civil war and now he is a common thing people think about when the civil
war is talked about up and also a very large part of why millions of slaves are free. Abraham Lincoln
was such a good role model he ended up on a one cent coin and on the 5 dollar bill. Abe will always

Public Misunderstanding Of officer Safety Essay
Public Misunderstanding of quot;Officer Safety quot;
How many times have you been pulled over by a police officer, and when the confrontation was
complete you said to yourself, quot;Boy, was he rude! quot; or
quot; There was no need for him to treat me like that. quot; Well, unfortunately, the public is prone to
misinterpret an officer being safe for being rude.
Unfortunately, the actions taken during a quot;routine quot; traffic stop which are interpreted as being
rude are necessary steps that insure the safety of both officer and civilian.
Imagine for a moment that you are a police officer on duty. You observe a vehicle traveling 36 miles
per hour on a 30 mile per hour ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are the some of the procedures which they have published in regards to traffic stops, and which
myself and other trainers have used to train their mobile patrolmen in hopes of reducing their risk:
Step #1: Park your patrol car approximately 1.5 car lengths behind, and with the passenger s side
headlight even with the center of the violators vehicle. By doing this you allow yourself, as the
patrolman, an ample distance for reaction. By parking off center you also allow a quot;hallway quot;
for yourself to conduct business safely.
Step #2: Turn your vehicle s high beams, spotlight, code lights and any other light on your vehicle on
and facing towards the stopped vehicle. This will make it hard for the violator to see where you are
and get a good shot in.
It also allows you to see what is occurring inside the vehicle clearly.
Step #3: At no time do you allow the driver to exit his vehicle. It is safer for him and again puts him at
a disadvantage for completing any violent acts against you.
Step #4: While walking up to the vehicle, look at and lightly press down on the trunk. This reduces the
chance of a hidden person coming out of the trunk and firing on the officer. (This does occasionally
happen.)
Step #5: When reaching the

How to Creating a Positive Atmosphere in Your Classroom....
According to Rogers cited in Coetzee, Van Niekerk, Wydeman (2008), classroom climate is the tone
that the class experiences in normal daily life. The classroom is essentially a group of learners brought
together for the common goal of learning. The attitude of the class depends on the attitudes of the
individuals in the classroom, as well as the educator s attitude. The educators role is to use their
knowledge, skill and behaviour to create an effective and positive learning environment in their
classroom (Coetzee, Van Niekerk, Wydeman, 2008). Coetzee et al (2008) postulate that the educator
can develop a positive classroom environment by: distinguishing the features of a classroom as a
learning environment, discussing stages for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2008). On the other hand, cognitive theorist Weiner suggests that an individual s actions are driven by
their beliefs and attributions of success or failure. Lastly social learning theorists think that an
individual s actions are determined by the value that a particular goal holds for them and their
expectation of success (Coetzee et al. 2008). Every individual identifies with a different theory and
may be motivated differently. However, motivation, irrelevant of how it is achieved is either intrinsic
or extrinsic.
Extrinsic motivation refers to motivating factors that are external, like money or grades. These
rewards provide additional satisfaction and pleasure that are not necessarily gained from the task
performed. On the other hand intrinsic motivation comes from inside an individual and refers to the
person s inner desire for success (Coetzee et al, 2008). Outcomes based education has increased the
need for learners to take responsibility for their own education; as a result intrinsic motivation has
become more relevant. Intrinsic motivation happens when a learners self efficiency (personal
competence) and determination (personal control) to succeed occur at the same time. Developing
learners intrinsic motivation can help promote academic success (Dev, 1997).
To help learner reap the advantages of intrinsic motivation, it is essential to provide academic
activities that promote the development of

Computer Interaction Has Changed Within The Economy
Within recent years human computer interaction has changed within the economy I will discuss three
factors which interlink with this. These are increased automation, productivity and varied working
environments.
Increased automation
o Bank
Firstly you have increased automation within a banking environment you now have three main ways
of banking. 1. Online 2. Telephone Banking 3. Branch most major banks have introduced productive
ways of banking to suit economy. Know two individuals bank the same everyone likes something
different you will find that generation will fuel the channel in which and individual will decide to
bank.
By introducing online and telephone banking economy have no necessary need to go into their local
branch and due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a prime example of how changes within the economy are effecting those who work for the
banks and also customers of the bank.
It could be argued that making changes can help economy as more avenues have been introduced
giving customers more choice. This allows for any customer who works antisocial hours take control
of their banking, it allows for every customer to be treated fairly as everyone has the same
opportunities with their banking. For example savings account online normally have a higher interest
rate to those offered in branch these accounts are optional for every customer however you need to
bank online to manage the account therefore you automatically introducing yourself to a new avenue
of banking.
It could be argued that making changes is harming the economy as manual labour is taking a cut
therefore more individuals are unemployed. More unemployment puts a strain on the government this
would then be costing the government.
Increased automation
o retail (Inc. stock levels/reordering)
Within the retail environment there has also been many changes which have had a knock on effect
with the economy. The two many factors which need to be consider would be stock levels and
reordering of stock.
So for reordering stock and checking stock levels you can invest in an accounting software which will
check your stock levels on a regular bases allowing for less labouring staff to be

Essay on Teaching No, but Saying Yes
Teaching No, but Saying Yes America has the highest number of teen pregnancies with 750,000
teenage girls becoming pregnant each year and HIV, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, a leading cause
of death in young people, infects America s youth everyday (Sun). The lives of ordinary young men
and women are abruptly interrupted when they learn they will soon be parents or must now live with
an incurable disease. With this information in mind, American public schools need to be teaching
middle school and high schools students the importance of safe sex. Many programs focus on the idea
of abstinence, refraining from sexual activity until marriage, but these programs seem to have little to
no effect on our youth. By age 19, most college students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schoolchildren do not know that by having oral sex, you can still contract STDs. How can parents and
teachers expect them to know when the health teachers just explain abstinence is the key? Is talking
about sex a bad thing? In society today it seems that people are afraid to speak about teenage sexual
behavior because it is something teens are expected not to do. As if just telling teens to not have sex
will just solve it all. But teenagers rarely do as they are told. Some researches would make you believe
handing out condoms and enlightening teens on sex in like giving a pass to be promiscuous, but in all
honesty this is not the message advocates and educators are sending. Telling teens about what
happens, the emotional aftermath, and the risks involved with sex will cause them to think about it
more and be more open to talking to their parents or guardians. Many of America s young people are
afraid to speak to their parents about sex because they feel embarrassed or feel like their parents will
lock them away to be sure they abstain from sex, but talking about sex with people who have been
through what teens are going through will help. New reality television shows are depicting life as a
teenage mom or what it is like to live with HIV/AIDS. A show called, Teen Mom, a spin off of its
original, 16 and Pregnant, follows the lives of teenage mothers trying to raise their babies while still
attending school, dating, and

The Effects Of Media On Child Sexual Abuse
INTRODUCTION
This research will assess the role of the media related to child sexual abuse and argues that the media
has been very essential to the job of placing the problem of the Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) in the
attention of the public and the political agenda. The media plays a huge role in defining what is
normal and what is deviant in society, therefore contributing to what the definitions are, and what it is
not, suggested what is child abuse. Whilst knowing that the media s portrayal of CSA some have

Majority of the abusers are male, whereas sometimes females can abuse children as well. 40% of CSA

boys are most likely to be abused from outside the home such as, a leisure centre or a sports clubs.

The movie Shall we dance is about Shohei Sugiyama who was a successful Japanese salaryman who
worked at an accountant firm in Tokyo. Mr. Sugiyama had a beautiful house, a successful job, a

Mr. Sugiyama s life becomes happier when he dances. He gets his family involved and they find
happiness because he is happy. The theme of the movie is work versus play. Modern society forces

Emergency Medicine
Only in the emergency department can yoga save a patient s life. People snicker when I begin my
story this way but it s true. Once, a fifty year old African American woman was brought into our ED
with one hour of facial droop and weakness. We were immediately concerned for a stroke, and the
neurology team agreed. Imaging ruled out a hemorrhage, and neurology cleared us to use
thrombolytics, but the patient s blood pressure was a staggering 220/120. After maximum dose
nicardipine therapy, her pressures still hovered above the threshold for tPA. Time ticked away and we
grew anxious as the window for thrombolysis narrowed. I looked across to the patient s room and
noticed several of her family members bawling at the top of their lungs. That s not helping, I thought.
So I walked over to the howling family members and gently, diplomatically ushered them to the
waiting area. Then I approached the patient and noticed how panicked she appeared. I asked her to
follow along with me, and together we ran through a deep breathing exercise I learned in yoga class.
Five minutes later, I rechecked her pressures and they had finally fallen below the threshold. The
patient went on to receive her tPA and eventually left the hospital with mild residual deficits. Stories
like this are the reason emergency medicine motivates and excites me: the patients acuity allows us to

Detective Fiction Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Essay
According to the English crime writer P.D. James (1920 ) for a book to be described as detective
fiction there must be a central mystery and one that by the end of the book is solved satisfactorily and
logically, not by good luck or intuition, but by intelligent deduction from clues honestly if deceptively
presented. (James. 2009: 16). This is traditionally conducted via a detective; a figure deployed within
the narrative structure whose occupation is to investigate crimes (Oxford. 2006: 202). Therefore
detective fiction represents an enigma, a puzzle to be solved through an intriguing series of events and
clues presented by the writer to its audience; that are taken on a journey through a process of

immense social and economic changes and the consequent movement of the population to the

Metropolitan Police Act was passed. (Mayor s Office. 2012). Over a decade later the Detective Police
Department was formed in London, England in (1842), enabling the rise, popularity and mass
publication of detective fiction as a genre. (Priestman. 2003: xi).
However, arguably and ostensibly the roots and traditional form of detective fiction as recognised in
contemporary society stem from the nineteenth century American author Edgar Allan Poe (1809 1849)
and his work The Murders in the Rue Morgue (1841). As argued by the twenty first century author and
professor of English; Martin Priestman the detective story was invented in 1841 by Edgar Allan Poe,
who acknowledged some debt to the structure as well as content of William Godwin s earlier novel
Caleb Williams (1794). In the 1860 s the form pioneered in Poe s short stories at last found a way into
the novels of Emile Gaboriau in France and

A Historical Movie Need Not Be 100% True Essay
Advanced information technology is widely used in the millennium age. History is can be reprinted, re
edited and re presented (Chan, 2013). Relatively, history can be shown in a more realistic way than
before. Audience can spend few hours to have a brief understanding of history. However, I think the
motivation of making historical movie is not merely for education but consists of other reasons.
Seediq Bale will be taken as an example for elaboration. Firstly, the movie is a review of modern
value. There is a comparison between civilized (Japanese) and uncivilized (Indigenous people).
Modern education tells me civilization is an indispensible element for human evolution. It is a symbol

civilization introduces money which makes indigenous people become the poor as they do not have
money originally. Civilization introduces development so that the home of indigenous people is
mined. Their resources are deprived. Civilization introduces secularization so that traditions and
customs are prohibited. Their belief is not respected (Wei, 2011). These are different with my
understanding of civilization which is contributive and inclusive. In addition, Mona Rudo mentioned
he had visited Japan. Japanese deliberately arrange him to have dinner with his enemies to make the
atmosphere nervous. He keeps kind to Japanese when there is conflicts between Japanese and
indigenous people. But Japanese never say thank you to him. Conversely, Japanese always threat him
(Wei, 2011). This reflects Japanese civilization does not respect indigenous people. It also consists of
conspiracy. Things shown from the movie are very realistic. We are easy to misunderstand that these
are 100% true. Usually, there is a difference between projection and reality. In Seediq Bale, Mona
Rudo is a hero. His image is positive. In reality, he had cooperated with Japanese. He

Porgy And Bess Sparknotes
Porgy and Bess is a play written by three Caucasian men. The play was written in the 1920s 1930s.
Around this time racism was strong as ever. White people already didn t think much of us. It took
place in a small town in South Carolina called Catfish Row. The apartments sat close to a beach.
Throughout the play, there was plenty of ways that portrayed African American in a negative way.
Porgy and Bess is the epitome of how Caucasians thought of African Americans and the way we live.
Throughout my paper I m going to express how white people judged African Americans, Where did
Porgy and Bess come from, and The names of the characters and how degrading the authors are
making African Americans out to be. The names of the characters go a long way. Some of their names
have meaning to them, the meaning of their names are literally the role they play. And the time the
play was written.
Gershwin labeled the play as a folk opera. It was written in the year of 1935 by a Jewish man. Which
makes it interesting to study the kind of impact it had on the African Americans at that time. Gershwin

Impact Of Globalization On Indian Social Structure
ABSTRACT:
Caste has always been integral to the Indian social structure. Be it in the historical era or be it in the
globalized era, caste has managed not to cease from the Indian society. Though the nature of caste
system has changed tremendously, the basic crux remains the same, i.e. the majority of the backward
castes/ social groups still remain backward. The globalization era might have an era of positive impact
on nations world wide, ironically, it has managed to leave negative impacts too. Similarly,
globalization has impacted caste too. It is a phenomenon that has not only led to pauperization but has
rapidly increased social inequalities. In this paper, an attempt shall be made to analyze the impact
globalization has left on castes. The following section of this paper shall try and reflect on issues like
education, employment, poverty etc in context to Dalits in India.
INTRODUCTION:
The term globalization had started gaining prominence towards the end of twentieth century. Over the
period of time, it has become one of the most discussed phenomenon. It is not about the process of
international integration of nations and their economic activities, but as a matter fact, it is way more
complex involving other factors like environmental challenges, politics and other socio cultural
aspects.
Speaking of globalization, it promises not just development and prosperity for all at a global level, but
also ensures social welfare and freedom. However, in the past few years,

Maintaining The Blood Glucose Level ( Bgl )
Homeostasis is defined as the constant maintenance of internal equilibrium in order for the body to
function at a stable and optimal level. There are many different things the body has to maintain and
keep under control in order for this to happen and one of these is maintaining the blood glucose level
(BGL). Glucose is the preferred fuel source used in the human body. There are several important cells
and organs in the body that require a constant supply of glucose to properly function, these include red
blood cells and immune cells. The purpose of blood glucose regulation is to keep the body in
homeostasis because abnormal levels of glucose can manifest in pathological conditions such as
seizures, hypoglycaemic coma, diabetic ketoacidosos (DKA) and possibly even death. The brain and
the nervous system are the biggest consumers of circulating glucose and are reliant on a constant
supply to maintain optimal function. Failure to maintain BGL within typical parameters 2.5 7
millimoles per liter (mmol/L or mM) will soon cause complications within the body. This assignment
will seek to give an overview of the homeostatic system and its components, with emphasis on the
regulation of BGL. The author will explore the significance of this control system as well as the
biochemical processes involved. Homeostatic System The purpose of the homeostatic system as I
previously mentioned is to maintain an internal balance in the body. There are many examples of
homeostasis in

Did The Amount Of Salt Affect The Mass Of Ice Cream
Title: Did the amount of salt used in ice cream formation effect the mass of ice cream produced?
Purpose
To discover whether varied amounts of salt used in ice cream formation effected the mass of the final
product.
Background Information In order for water or milk to freeze, the temperature needs to be at or below
0ºC. In order to lower the freezing point of solution, different solutes can be added. A solution is
created by dissolving a solute into a solvent, such as dissolving sugar (solute) into water (solvent). The
process of decreasing a freezing point of a liquid by dissolving a solute into a solution is referred to as
freezing point depression. The freezing point is a colligative property, which means that the freezing
point depends on the number of solute particles dissolved in a solution. For example, CaCl2, which
has three particles, would lower the freezing point of a solution more than NaCl would, which only
has two particles (Helmenstine).
Freezing point depression is used in the world around us, such as when salt is placed onto roads during
winter during which the temperature is around or right below 0ºC to prevent any precipitation that
falls from freezing onto the road. When salt (NaCl) is introduced to ice, hydrogen bonds in the ice
require more energy to join together. This energy is found in the form of heat energy, decreasing the
temperature of the small amount of melted water surrounding the ice (Litherland) . By placing salt
onto roads

Essay about The Liver and Its Functions
The Liver is the body s largest gland, weighing about three to four pounds. It is located beneath the
diaphragm in the right upper quadrant (RUQ) of the abdominal cavity. Without the liver, our bodies
would be poisoned and unfit for us to do anything at all. It is a metabolically active organ responsible
for many vital life functions. The primary functions of the liver are: Bile productions and excretion.
Excretion of bilirubin, cholesterol, hormones, and drugs. Metabolism of fats, proteins, and
carbohydrates. Enzyme activation. Storage of glycogen, vitamins, and minerals. Synthesis of plasma
proteins, such as albumin, and clotting factors. And blood detoxification and purification.
The liver is the body s energy factory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bile moves into the gallbladder via tiny tubes. The bile is stored in the gallbladder and waits,
becoming concentrated, for the signal to be released into the duodenum aiding in digestion. Without
bile, the body could not digest fats, as fats do not absorb into water. The bile acts as a detergent and
allows the two to mix.
The liver is an unusual organ because nearly every one of its cells is exactly alike. The working cells
of the liver are known as hepatocytes. Hepatocytes have a unique capacity to reproduce in response to
liver injury. Liver regeneration can occur after surgical removal of a portion of the liver (hepatectomy)
or after injuries that destroy parts of the liver. And this regeneration can adjust its size to match its
host. Within a week after partial hepatectomy, hepatic mass is back essentially to what it was prior to
surgery. Even though the liver has the ability to react to damage and can repair itself, repetitive insults
can produce liver failure or deadly diseases, infections, and disorders. A few such diseases are viral
hepatitis, yellow fever, and rubella. Some of the disease caused by bacteria are amebic dysentery,
leptospirosis, and streptococcal infections. These diseases can fatally damage the liver.
Liver failure is the acute failure of the liver to perform its body function. Proteins that allow the blood
to clot are not produced so the patient bruises and bleeds easily. A viscous fluid will sometimes collect

Application Of Storage As A Service Provider Essay
Introduction In the current era of digital world, various organizations produce a large amount of
sensitive data including personal information, electronic health records, and financial data. It is
difficult for local system to manage such large data because it requires more storage space and skilled
staffs. So it becomes very expensive for any organizations. capable personnel. Therefore, storage as a
service (Saas) offered by cloud service providers (CSPs) give better solution to store large sensitive
data, therefore maintenance cost reduced much more by means of outsourcing data storage. Since the
data holder actually releases sensitive data to a remote CSP, there are some concern regarding privacy,
honesty, and access control of the data. The privacy of user can be achieved by data holder using
encryption before storing data to remote servers. To achieve data honesty over cloud, analyst has
proposed provable, information ownership procedure to accept information storage on remote
destinations. Various PDP conventions have been exhibited to proficiently accept the respectability of
information. Generally, conventional access control procedures accept the presence of the information
holder and the capacity servers in the same trust space. This opinion, no more useful when the
information are outsourced to a remote CSP, which takes the full charge of the outsourced information

The White Umbrella Theme
The White Umbrella Theme Essay Pedro Ruiz Martin Rashad the author of The White Umbrella
presents to the reader an entertaining story about a Chinese girl who moves to america, and tries to fit
in with all the other girls her age. She and her sister both try to keep the embarrassing secret that their
mom has a job, but both have a pretty hard time accepting it. Later, the main character finds the most
appealing umbrella she s seen in her life. She gets it, and then throws it into the sewer. The author of
the story s theme is to be grateful for what you have, and you will realize you have everything you
need. One of the ways the author conveys this theme is through title. The title conveys the theme by
including one of the most important parts of the story, which was when the piano teacher lets the main
character have the beautiful umbrella that she wanted. This affected the main character greatly,
because she was already upset with her mom for not being there, then the piano teacher gives the
umbrella, so then the main character says to the piano teacher I wish you were my mother. That s
probably why the author decided to choose that title, because it was such an effective and important
moment for the character and the story in general. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing the Application of Integrated Marketing...
During the last decade of the twentieth century, the concept of integrated marketing communications
(IMC) received considerable attention from practitioners and academics alike, and that interest has
continued into the new millennium (e.g., Bearden and Madden 1996; Cornelissen and Lock 2000;
Duncan, Schultz, and Patti 2005; Garretson and Burton 2005; Nowak and Phelps 1994; Schultz and
Kitchen 2000a; Schumann, Artis, and Rivera 2001). As the marketplace has become more fragmented

For instance, an ad that contains a direct response tool (e.g., a coupon), a public relations appeal (e.g.,
support of an esteemed social cause), and brand advertising (e.g., depiction and description of the
offering) would reflect the integrated communication form of IMC. A key outcome of this approach is
the acquisition of consumer information that is captured when consumers respond to direct response
tools, sales promotions, and the like (Nowak and Phelps 1994).
The one voice approach reflects a firm s focus on a single positioning strategy that emphasizes unity
among brand/ image advertising, direct response advertising, public relations, and consumer sales
promotions at the outset of a promotional campaign (Reilly 1991; Snyder 1991). In this approach, the
position, message, or theme is what ultimately guides an organization s IMC decisions, which
ostensibly could be rendered independently by the firm s advertising, public relations, and sales
promotion agencies (Nowak and Phelps 1994).
The third approach, coordinated marketing communication campaigns, stresses the need to integrate
the activities of different marketing communication disciplines (e.g., sales promotions, advertising,
and public relations) in

Amanda Knox Movie Analysis
Amanda Knox by Brian McGinn and Rod Blackhurst documents the trial, conviction and acquittal of
Amanda Knox for the murder of her foreign exchange roommate in Italy. The film includes interviews
with her codefendant and ex boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito; the attorney for the man believed to have
really been the murderer; the man who led the Italian investigation and Amanda Knox, herself. From
the documentary we learn that Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were wrongfully convicted of the
murder of Knox s British roommate, Meredith Kercher. Amanda Knox does an admirable job of
detailing the crucial facts of the case. The film, which often plays out like a narrative thriller, takes us
back to the murder of Kercher in 2007 and does so with the use of police footage of the crime scene. It
takes us through the ensuing media outrage, the false accusations, the trial and appeal, with
contributions from those who were there. The film undeniably takes a pro Knox stance because of
how it focuses largely on its main characters, therefore illuminating how something like this can
happen to anyone. The film tries to shed light of the wrongfully committed and how being acquainted
with the victim can automatically make you a suspect. The lack of communication and
misinterpretation between the two suspects and the police of Italy are mainly what caused Knox and
Sollecito to spend years in prison for a crime they did not commit. Knox says to herself at the open of

What Makes A One Stop Guide On The Landscape
A ONE STOP GUIDE ON HOW TO LANDSCAPE
It is of utmost certainty that people nowadays admire beautiful and incredibly structured gardens and
home fields and back yards. Not only is it applicable to home grounds and fields but it is also quite
possible to perform landscaping techniques on any outstretched field that you may have in mind.
To the uninitiated landscaping refers to any activity and process that directly alters and modifies
natural, abstract and the living elements alike of an outstretched area of land. That said, landscaping is
an artistic activity that requires highly trained expertise in horticulture.
For living features, it requires modification of the surrounding flora and fauna of the area of land and
such activities lead to growth and nurture of plants with the intention of creating a breathtaking
environment within the intended area undergoing landscaping. This is what is commonly referred to
gardening in simple terms.
Secondly, when it comes to the natural features, this entails making changes to the land s terrain,
elevation and the general landforms. Finally, the abstract features are the elements that relate to the
weather and the lighting conditions of the area of land undergoing landscaping.
The landscaping process need not be a humongous and an overwhelming exercise for it is easy to
manipulate and implement. It basically involves two crucial steps i.e. landscape design and the actual
landscape construction. The landscape design involves a series of

to the project at hand.
Conclusion
In conclusion, our current resource allocation does not meet the deadlines of June 30, 2012 and we
have offered a few of our own solutions to alleviating these drawbacks. We have established that the
facility specialist rang up approximately 662hrs in our initial number crunching diagnosis, and were
able to balance that out with a secondary facility specialist. As we have pointed out before, we will
increase costs by doing this, but the costs outweigh the potential for not meeting our primary
deadlines. Attached is a list of the tasks that would be associated with the Facility Specialist which
would have him completely over allocated, from helping to select an architect, to installing equipment,
we do need the expertise but as a manager we have to mitigate the risk involved with over extending
someone s human capabilities. As we continue to plan this endeavor, we will uncover many things that
may need to change and hopefully with this pre planning we were able to reduce the amount of
changes we will make later. Thank you.

Confederate Statues
Introduction:
As you requested, I am submitting this executive summary after going through the task force report
given to Gregory Fenves, the president of the University of Texas at Austin. The report provides
different alternatives regarding controversial Confederate statues on their campus. These options will
help us implement policies on our campus and allow us to avoid any protests.
Statuary Options:
The purpose of this report is to inform Fenves that statues have deeper meaning and they are part of a
history that defines our present. Changing and replacing monuments is disrespectful towards donors,
Texans and soldiers who died in the war. Looking over these sentiments and issues, the Task Force
came up with five options.
The first option was to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lee, Albert Sidney Johnston, and Woodrow Wilson except John Raegan. The benefit for this option is
that John Reagan supported the federal government, renounced secession from the United States and
allowed freed slaves to vote. But, Woodrow Wilson being the president of the United States, removing
his statue might cause controversy and protest.
The final option wanted to relocate all the statues and the advantages would be that the statues were
created as a set and together they will maintain the artistic balance and show greater respect for single
work of art. Some think that honoring them like this isn t right because they were part of a movement
which supported slavery and secession from the US.
Conclusion:
Each of the options comes with its own set of drawbacks; however, it is important to take into account
the students feelings and opinions of our statues. Our campus should use these options to reconsider
what statues we should remove or relocate. It is part of our campus history and we should make the
right decision to choose what represents us. The five options provide great solutions and they should

Prostitution In The Philippines
Prostitution is one of the oldest professions that have widely been practiced around the world, and the
Philippines is no exception to this. With the advent of Spanish colonists in the late 1500s, Filipina
slaves were sold as exotic sex objects or prostitutes to European brothels. During the early 1940s,
many Filipinas in Manila and surrounding towns served as comfort girls to provide sexual favors to
Japanese soldiers of the Japanese Imperial Army serving in the country and in the Pacific region.
Today, with the emergence of information technology and global travel, the age old profession has
begun to operate on a technological scale, and sex workers, mostly young girls, have moved not only
to the big cities but also online. To be specific, a new form of prostitution among Filipina schoolgirls,
called Prosti tuition, has surfaced recently in the country.
Prosti tuition, as the name suggests, is a term used among student sex workers to refer to the use of
prostitution as a means of earning money to send themselves to school. Sometimes called survival sex,
it is sex work that pays for these students tuition fees, school supplies, allowance, cellphone load, and
the like. Typically, the peak season for this tuition payment scheme is during enrollment period or
right before final/periodic exams (Santos, 2014).
Compared to traditional prostitution, what is interesting about prosti tuition is that the personal

All across the US corporal punishment is being given to students as a method of discipline. Corporal
punishment is infliction of pain as a punishment for an offense. Corporal punishment is legal in 19
states in school and at home That means that the government is allowing students to suffer just so they
can learn a lesson. Corporal punishment does not belong in schools because it can hurt students
emotionally/mentally, it shows students discrimination, and can harm students physically. When a
child is hit by a teacher, it can harm them emotionally short and long term. The use of corporal
punishment in schools can make a child more aggressive, defiant, and oppositional (Dupper, CP in US
Public Schools). By hitting a student, the teacher is thinking they are teaching them a lesson but really
they are setting them up to be more defiant once more and be hit again. It is a vicious cycle that will
never end until the student is damaged for the rest of their life. Teachers hit kids because they think it
will help them out in the long run but really it can lead to a number of different things such as anxiety,
hostility, depression, aggression against authorities, teachers, and property. In the teachers mind they
are preventing this student from acting out again but really they can come back and destroy school
property. Also, the teacher may believe that because they hit this student the student will become a
better person but really it makes them so much worse. Lastly, corporal punishment can affect a student
s self image and weaken their social skills (Rollins, Revisiting the Issue). When a student is hit, they
think less of themselves because they believe that the reason they were hit is because they are lesser
than everyone else. They also could stop making new friends and become socially awkward because
they are afraid that everyone will not be their friend just because others were not nice. Teachers do not
understand the consequences that a student must face when he or she is hit by them. Some people may
say that they can go to therapy and get better but most likely the student will still have permanent
emotional damage. Another reason corporal punishment does not belong in school is because it

Tuna Mayonnaise Items Needed For The Chicken
Tuna Mayonnaise Items needed: 2 cans of Tuna in flakes 2 cans of Tuna hot and spicy 1/2 Mayonnaise
1 big Onion pepper salt Instructions: Drain the Tuna off the oil in the can. Then combine the tuna with
the mayonnaise. Cut the onions in tiny bits as in real chopped then add to the tuna mix add a few
pinch of pepper and salt. Mix everything thoroughly. This can be used as Sandwich Spread or dips.
Tuna can be replaced with chicken you just have to flake of the chicken in pieces like the tuna using
your hands to just pull the chicken apart. You can add more tuna if the mayonnaise is too much.. You
can get chips in a bowl and pour some of it on top or you can get Cabbage and pour on top to get that
added flavor for the veggies. You can use other veggies and just make it a dip. This is one of the top
recipes I have that everyone enjoys a lot. Fruity Fruit Salad 1 big Fruit Cocktail 1 big Pineapple
chunks 1 Melon 1 big Condensed Milk 1 big Nestle Cream 1 big can Corn Bits 1 sm. box of Raisins
Coconut Combine everything in a big bowl. Make sure you have taken the juice out first off the cans
with juices on them. You can set those aside and put them in the freezer to drink later. Very healthy
and tasty cold drinks. Scrape the Melon and the coconut and combine them with the mixtures. You can
add all the kinds of fruits you can on this mixture or change the other fruits I included here if in case
you don t eat that kind of fruit. The

Some Legal Case Studies
Legal Case Studies Question One The basic premise of this case has to do with contract law and how
that is applied. Since Australian law follows the principles set down in English contract law (as is the
case with most other English speaking countries), most of the basic legislation differs little from that
basis. However, there have been cases and specific legislation that make Australian contracts unique.
First, it has to be understood what is necessary for a contract to be legal, and then the determination
has to be made whether John and Anton s verbal contract met those requirements. Australian contract
law looks at oral contracts with the same degree of obligation on the part of the contractors as it does a
written contract in most instances. Maritime insurance must be contracted via a signed agreement as
must most contracts where land is exchanged (Fifoot s Law of Contract). This varies somewhat
according to jurisdiction, but most Australian jurisdictions show no distinction between written and
oral contracts. For either type of contract to be legal, it has to follow the six rules of contract:
Agreement where one party makes an offer and the other accepts it; Consideration where one party
gives something in exchange for something from the other party; Intention where both parties intend
to abide by the contract; Capacity where both parties are mentally capable of understanding the
contract; Genuine consent where both parties agree to the contract of their own

Persuasive Essay On Open School Letter
All the measures that are mentioned in the textbook are important. However, there a few of these
measures that are not as important compared to the others listed. One of these measures involve the
school mail.
According to the textbook, students should not be opening the mail and that letter opening should be
limited to a staff individual. The reasoning behind the measure is understandable; 2001 terrorists sent
powdered anthrax through the mail. Nevertheless, why would students have access to school mail?
School mail is usually delivered to the front desk, bypassing student s hands. There is no reason why a
student should be opening school mail.
Additionally, Trumps states that schools should ...review procedures for handling suspicious items
such as envelopes with power substances that may be found in hallways, stairwell, restroom and other
areas of the school... (Trump, 2011, p. 135). Instead of focusing on envelopes, why not focus on
suspicious packages. Students are more likely to pick up a package off the ground than an envelope.
Reviewing things that are more credible and likely would be better than having everyone become
paranoid of a letter on the ground. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How do continuing field trips fit into the school security and preparedness? Logically speaking, if a
tornado was happening outside (for example), field trips would be cancelled. If there was a possible
threat of future terrorist attacks, why not cancel to be precautionary of the situation? After the
November 2015 attacks in Paris, schools in Connecticut, South Carolina, and rural Maryland avoided
field trips ...out of an abundance of caution...after hearing from parents who are worried about the
possibility of an attack... (Balingt, Hermann, Davis, 2015). Sometimes it is better to be precautious,
especially if things are going a little haywire at the

  • 4. Analysis Of The s Romeo And Juliet Peter Smith Angela Wood Disc 1313 April 20, 2015 Icarus Research Paper One of the biggest issues parents deal with every day is making sure their children obey their orders. Although it seems like a simple task to adults, many young teens take pride in disobedience as it allows them to feel independent. This goes back to the phenomenon of reverse psychology. This anomaly is revealed in numerous ancient tales such as the forbidden fruit, and even Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. Ovid s myth Daedalus and Icarus is yet another example of disobedience; however, there is much more to it than that. Well before the first flight, the ancient Greeks predicted the risks of entering into the realm of the gods (Rogers). Daedalus and his son, Icarus, wanted to escape a labyrinth that they were trapped in. Knowing they couldn t escape by land or sea, Daedalus, a great inventor, fabricated two sets of wings with wax and feathers. He warned his son Icarus that if he flew too high the sun would melt the wings, or if he flew too low the water would splash up and soak the wings causing him to fall. After only a few minutes of flight Icarus becomes engulfed by the excitement of flight and continues to ascend. As a result the wings melt and he falls to his death. The story of Daedalus and Icarus centers on the desire to explore despite inherent teachings that stress the importance of following rules. The first evidence of the story of Icarus existing comes from an ancient piece of pottery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Depressing Life of an Old Woman in Death in the Woods... Sherwood Anderson s Death in the Woods tells story of the depressing life of an old woman told many years later by a man who narrates the short story. This short story is driven by a plot structure that is told by a sequence of events, a narrator who tells the story, characters, theme, symbolism, and tone. Death in the Woods narrates a sequence of events the life and death of Mrs. Grimes in its plot structure. This story does not just express the old woman s tale, but re tells it. The reader follows the narrator s mental processes as he intertwines a series of half remembered, half fictionalized images, jumping from the old woman s history to his own. In the first telling of the story, the narrator s brother gives an inadequate version of it, which causes the narrator to tell it properly according to him. Death in the Woods begins with the narrator s account of a certain type of old woman, describing her trips into town and characterizing her as nothing special. The exposition in Death in the Woods is uncovered throughout the story. Through the narrator, the reader is introduced to the characters. The characters, although, are perceived and viewed by the narrator in a specific aspect, which foes not give the reader a full understanding of the characters. • 7. Sources Of Alternative Energy Sources Alternate Energy Sources Alternative energy sources are becoming more and more popular. The most important alternative energy sources are solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, ocean, and hydropower energies. Their main advantage lies in the resumption of energy resources. This paper will give information about each of sources as well as their advantages and disadvantages. Solar energy The Sun is a leading environmentally clean energy source. The process of generating electricity from sunlight has been known for over a hundred years. Edmond Becquerel first observed the photovoltaic effect in 1839 (Zamostny, p. 1). Through a series of experiments on electricity, he plunged two metal electrodes in a conductive solution and exposed it to sunlight. As a result, there was a small electrical voltage between electrodes. Solar energy is used to produce electricity and heat water. The advantages of this energy are noiseless, lack of air emissions, and renewability of source. The disadvantages of solar energy include a dependence on solar power from the daily, seasonal position of the Sun, weather conditions, and the need for large areas for the construction of solar power plants. Also, a serious environmental problem is the use of toxic substances in the manufacture of solar cells that cause a problem of their disposal. Wind energy A second alternative energy source is wind energy. It is used for electricity and actuates a windmill. Inexhaustibility is the primary advantage of wind ... • 8. Marigolds Short Story At a young age, children do not understand the importance of having compassion as for they hold innocence within themselves. Growing up and maturing into an adult, children begin to progressively lose their innocence as they become more of a compassionate person because one can not have both innocence and compassion simultaneously. In fact, a coming of age short story called Marigolds written by Eugenia Collier, tells about a young girl named Lizabeth who grows up to become a compassionate person. For the most part, Lizabeth tells her childhood experience in a flashback on how she mostly remembers Miss Lottie s marigolds. Ultimately, Lizabeth decides to destroy Miss Lottie s marigolds out of anger because she hears about her parent s economic struggles. Shortly after Lizabeth realizes what she had done, she realizes the meaning of why Miss Lottie plants the marigolds. Throughout the short story, Marigolds, the characterization of Lizabeth helps develop the author s argument that one can not have both compassion and innocence. The three events that show this is, when Lizabeth hesitates before throwing the rocks at the marigolds, hearing the sounds of her father s sorrowful cries, and eliminating Miss Lottie s marigolds. Collier s argument in Marigolds was that one cannot have both compassion and innocence and this is revealed through the event where Lizabeth decides to throw rocks at the marigolds. Her character develops to becoming a compassionate person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. How to Creating a Positive Atmosphere in Your Classroom.... According to Rogers cited in Coetzee, Van Niekerk, Wydeman (2008), classroom climate is the tone that the class experiences in normal daily life. The classroom is essentially a group of learners brought together for the common goal of learning. The attitude of the class depends on the attitudes of the individuals in the classroom, as well as the educator s attitude. The educators role is to use their knowledge, skill and behaviour to create an effective and positive learning environment in their classroom (Coetzee, Van Niekerk, Wydeman, 2008). Lastly social learning theorists think that an individual s actions are determined by the value that a particular goal holds for them and their expectation of success (Coetzee et al. 2008). Every individual identifies with a different theory and may be motivated differently. However, motivation, irrelevant of how it is achieved is either intrinsic or extrinsic. Extrinsic motivation refers to motivating factors that are external, like money or grades. These rewards provide additional satisfaction and pleasure that are not necessarily gained from the task performed. On the other hand intrinsic motivation comes from inside an individual and refers to the person s inner desire for success (Coetzee et al, 2008). Outcomes based education has increased the need for learners to take responsibility for their own education; as a result intrinsic motivation has become more relevant. Intrinsic motivation happens when a learners self efficiency (personal competence) and determination (personal control) to succeed occur at the same time. Developing learners intrinsic motivation can help promote academic success (Dev, 1997). Once, a fifty year old African American woman was brought into our ED with one hour of facial droop and weakness. We were immediately concerned for a stroke, and the neurology team agreed. Imaging ruled out a hemorrhage, and neurology cleared us to use thrombolytics, but the patient s blood pressure was a staggering 220/120. After maximum dose nicardipine therapy, her pressures still hovered above the threshold for tPA. Time ticked away and we grew anxious as the window for thrombolysis narrowed. I looked across to the patient s room and noticed several of her family members bawling at the top of their lungs. That s not helping, I thought. So I walked over to the howling family members and gently, diplomatically ushered them to the waiting area. Then I approached the patient and noticed how panicked she appeared. I asked her to follow along with me, and together we ran through a deep breathing exercise I learned in yoga class. Five minutes later, I rechecked her pressures and they had finally fallen below the threshold. The patient went on to receive her tPA and eventually left the hospital with mild residual deficits. James (1920 ) for a book to be described as detective fiction there must be a central mystery and one that by the end of the book is solved satisfactorily and logically, not by good luck or intuition, but by intelligent deduction from clues honestly if deceptively presented. (James. 2009: 16). This is traditionally conducted via a detective; a figure deployed within the narrative structure whose occupation is to investigate crimes (Oxford. 2006: 202). Therefore detective fiction represents an enigma, a puzzle to be solved through an intriguing series of events and clues presented by the writer to its audience; that are taken on a journey through a process of reasoning, elimination and ... However, arguably and ostensibly the roots and traditional form of detective fiction as recognised in contemporary society stem from the nineteenth century American author Edgar Allan Poe (1809 1849) and his work The Murders in the Rue Morgue (1841). As argued by the twenty first century author and professor of English; Martin Priestman the detective story was invented in 1841 by Edgar Allan Poe, who acknowledged some debt to the structure as well as content of William Godwin s earlier novel Caleb Williams (1794). Relatively, history can be shown in a more realistic way than before. Audience can spend few hours to have a brief understanding of history. However, I think the motivation of making historical movie is not merely for education but consists of other reasons. Seediq Bale will be taken as an example for elaboration. Firstly, the movie is a review of modern value. There is a comparison between civilized (Japanese) and uncivilized (Indigenous people). Modern education tells me civilization is an indispensible element for human evolution. It is a symbol of superiority. Indigenous people who are illiterate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It depreciates indigenous people. Indigenous people cannot receive fair treatment even they are better than Japanese. Indigenous women are not respected. They need to drink with Japanese. Government does not help them when they are raped. Money is not need in the world of indigenous people but civilization introduces money which makes indigenous people become the poor as they do not have money originally. Civilization introduces development so that the home of indigenous people is mined. Their resources are deprived. Civilization introduces secularization so that traditions and customs are prohibited. Their belief is not respected (Wei, 2011). These are different with my understanding of civilization which is contributive and inclusive. In addition, Mona Rudo mentioned he had visited Japan. Castagnaro Dr. Hochwarter MAN 3240 14 April 2015 Generational Issues in the U.S. Workforce According to the Fort Wayne News Sentinel, the American workforce is now made up of four entirely different generations. The four major groups, as defined in the For the First Time, Four Very Different Generations Make Up the U.S. Workforce article by the Fort Wayne News Sentinel, citing Ginny Carroll, chief executive officer of inGINuity, are Veteran (born 1900 1942), Baby Boomer (1943 1960), Generation X (1961 1981), and Millennial (1982 2000) (Quilligan 1). Throughout this paper, I will use the above names to describe the various generations, though let it be known that some sources state different names for each generation. In an article titled Employers Need to Bridge Generational Gaps in Work Force, Labor Report Says, Michael Silence of the Knoxville News Sentinel uses the name Traditionalist for what Kathleen Quilligan of the Fort Wayne News Sentinel calls the Veteran generation, and calls Millennials Generation Y (Silence 1). It is also relevant to note that different sources state different age ranges for each generation. For instance, an article in the American Medical Writers Association Journal (AMWA) states the following dates for each generation: Veteran (1937 1945), Baby Boomer (1946 1964), Generation X (1965 1984), and Millennial (1985 2005) ( Top 10 Characteristics Of The Four ... White people already didn t think much of us. It took place in a small town in South Carolina called Catfish Row. The apartments sat close to a beach. Throughout the play, there was plenty of ways that portrayed African American in a negative way. Porgy and Bess is the epitome of how Caucasians thought of African Americans and the way we live. Throughout my paper I m going to express how white people judged African Americans, Where did Porgy and Bess come from, and The names of the characters and how degrading the authors are making African Americans out to be. • 24. Maintaining The Blood Glucose Level ( Bgl ) Homeostasis is defined as the constant maintenance of internal equilibrium in order for the body to function at a stable and optimal level. There are many different things the body has to maintain and keep under control in order for this to happen and one of these is maintaining the blood glucose level (BGL). Glucose is the preferred fuel source used in the human body. There are several important cells and organs in the body that require a constant supply of glucose to properly function, these include red blood cells and immune cells. The purpose of blood glucose regulation is to keep the body in homeostasis because abnormal levels of glucose can manifest in pathological conditions such as seizures, hypoglycaemic coma, diabetic ketoacidosos (DKA) and possibly even death. The brain and the nervous system are the biggest consumers of circulating glucose and are reliant on a constant supply to maintain optimal function. Failure to maintain BGL within typical parameters 2.5 7 millimoles per liter (mmol/L or mM) will soon cause complications within the body. This assignment will seek to give an overview of the homeostatic system and its components, with emphasis on the regulation of BGL. The author will explore the significance of this control system as well as the biochemical processes involved. Homeostatic System The purpose of the homeostatic system as I previously mentioned is to maintain an internal balance in the body. There are many examples of homeostasis in ... • 30. Did The Amount Of Salt Affect The Mass Of Ice Cream Title: Did the amount of salt used in ice cream formation effect the mass of ice cream produced? Purpose To discover whether varied amounts of salt used in ice cream formation effected the mass of the final product. Background Information In order for water or milk to freeze, the temperature needs to be at or below 0ºC. In order to lower the freezing point of solution, different solutes can be added. A solution is created by dissolving a solute into a solvent, such as dissolving sugar (solute) into water (solvent). The process of decreasing a freezing point of a liquid by dissolving a solute into a solution is referred to as freezing point depression. The freezing point is a colligative property, which means that the freezing point depends on the number of solute particles dissolved in a solution. For example, CaCl2, which has three particles, would lower the freezing point of a solution more than NaCl would, which only has two particles (Helmenstine). Freezing point depression is used in the world around us, such as when salt is placed onto roads during winter during which the temperature is around or right below 0ºC to prevent any precipitation that falls from freezing onto the road. When salt (NaCl) is introduced to ice, hydrogen bonds in the ice require more energy to join together. This energy is found in the form of heat energy, decreasing the temperature of the small amount of melted water surrounding the ice (Litherland) . By placing salt onto roads ... It is located beneath the diaphragm in the right upper quadrant (RUQ) of the abdominal cavity. Without the liver, our bodies would be poisoned and unfit for us to do anything at all. It is a metabolically active organ responsible for many vital life functions. The primary functions of the liver are: Bile productions and excretion. Excretion of bilirubin, cholesterol, hormones, and drugs. Metabolism of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. Enzyme activation. Storage of glycogen, vitamins, and minerals. The bile moves into the gallbladder via tiny tubes. The bile is stored in the gallbladder and waits, becoming concentrated, for the signal to be released into the duodenum aiding in digestion. Without bile, the body could not digest fats, as fats do not absorb into water. The bile acts as a detergent and allows the two to mix. The liver is an unusual organ because nearly every one of its cells is exactly alike. The working cells of the liver are known as hepatocytes. Hepatocytes have a unique capacity to reproduce in response to liver injury. Liver regeneration can occur after surgical removal of a portion of the liver (hepatectomy) or after injuries that destroy parts of the liver. And this regeneration can adjust its size to match its host. Within a week after partial hepatectomy, hepatic mass is back essentially to what it was prior to surgery. Even though the liver has the ability to react to damage and can repair itself, repetitive insults can produce liver failure or deadly diseases, infections, and disorders. A few such diseases are viral hepatitis, yellow fever, and rubella. Some of the disease caused by bacteria are amebic dysentery, leptospirosis, and streptococcal infections. These diseases can fatally damage the liver. Liver failure is the acute failure of the liver to perform its body function. Since the data holder actually releases sensitive data to a remote CSP, there are some concern regarding privacy, honesty, and access control of the data. The privacy of user can be achieved by data holder using encryption before storing data to remote servers. To achieve data honesty over cloud, analyst has proposed provable, information ownership procedure to accept information storage on remote destinations. The film includes interviews with her codefendant and ex boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito; the attorney for the man believed to have really been the murderer; the man who led the Italian investigation and Amanda Knox, herself. From the documentary we learn that Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were wrongfully convicted of the murder of Knox s British roommate, Meredith Kercher. Amanda Knox does an admirable job of detailing the crucial facts of the case. The film, which often plays out like a narrative thriller, takes us back to the murder of Kercher in 2007 and does so with the use of police footage of the crime scene. It takes us through the ensuing media outrage, the false accusations, the trial and appeal, with contributions from those who were there. The film undeniably takes a pro Knox stance because of how it focuses largely on its main characters, therefore illuminating how something like this can happen to anyone. The film tries to shed light of the wrongfully committed and how being acquainted with the victim can automatically make you a suspect. The final option wanted to relocate all the statues and the advantages would be that the statues were created as a set and together they will maintain the artistic balance and show greater respect for single work of art. With the advent of Spanish colonists in the late 1500s, Filipina slaves were sold as exotic sex objects or prostitutes to European brothels. During the early 1940s, many Filipinas in Manila and surrounding towns served as comfort girls to provide sexual favors to Japanese soldiers of the Japanese Imperial Army serving in the country and in the Pacific region. Today, with the emergence of information technology and global travel, the age old profession has begun to operate on a technological scale, and sex workers, mostly young girls, have moved not only to the big cities but also online. To be specific, a new form of prostitution among Filipina schoolgirls, called Prosti tuition, has surfaced recently in the country. Prosti tuition, as the name suggests, is a term used among student sex workers to refer to the use of prostitution as a means of earning money to send themselves to school. Sometimes called survival sex, it is sex work that pays for these students tuition fees, school supplies, allowance, cellphone load, and the like. Typically, the peak season for this tuition payment scheme is during enrollment period or right before final/periodic exams (Santos, 2014). Compared to traditional prostitution, what is interesting about prosti tuition is that the personal services providers (PSPs) or walkers mostly rely on smartphones ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Use Of Corporal Punishment In Schools All across the US corporal punishment is being given to students as a method of discipline. Corporal punishment is infliction of pain as a punishment for an offense. Corporal punishment is legal in 19 states in school and at home That means that the government is allowing students to suffer just so they can learn a lesson. Corporal punishment does not belong in schools because it can hurt students emotionally/mentally, it shows students discrimination, and can harm students physically. When a child is hit by a teacher, it can harm them emotionally short and long term. The use of corporal punishment in schools can make a child more aggressive, defiant, and oppositional (Dupper, CP in US Public Schools). By hitting a student, the teacher is thinking they are teaching them a lesson but really they are setting them up to be more defiant once more and be hit again. It is a vicious cycle that will never end until the student is damaged for the rest of their life. Teachers hit kids because they think it will help them out in the long run but really it can lead to a number of different things such as anxiety, hostility, depression, aggression against authorities, teachers, and property. In the teachers mind they are preventing this student from acting out again but really they can come back and destroy school property. Also, the teacher may believe that because they hit this student the student will become a better person but really it makes them so much worse. Lastly, corporal punishment can affect a student s self image and weaken their social skills (Rollins, Revisiting the Issue). When a student is hit, they think less of themselves because they believe that the reason they were hit is because they are lesser than everyone else. They also could stop making new friends and become socially awkward because they are afraid that everyone will not be their friend just because others were not nice. Teachers do not understand the consequences that a student must face when he or she is hit by them. Some people may say that they can go to therapy and get better but most likely the student will still have permanent emotional damage. Another reason corporal punishment does not belong in school is because it teaches ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Some Legal Case Studies Legal Case Studies Question One The basic premise of this case has to do with contract law and how that is applied. Since Australian law follows the principles set down in English contract law (as is the case with most other English speaking countries), most of the basic legislation differs little from that basis. However, there have been cases and specific legislation that make Australian contracts unique. First, it has to be understood what is necessary for a contract to be legal, and then the determination has to be made whether John and Anton s verbal contract met those requirements. Australian contract law looks at oral contracts with the same degree of obligation on the part of the contractors as it does a written contract in most instances. Maritime insurance must be contracted via a signed agreement as must most contracts where land is exchanged (Fifoot s Law of Contract). This varies somewhat according to jurisdiction, but most Australian jurisdictions show no distinction between written and oral contracts. For either type of contract to be legal, it has to follow the six rules of contract: Agreement where one party makes an offer and the other accepts it; Consideration where one party gives something in exchange for something from the other party; Intention where both parties intend to abide by the contract; Capacity where both parties are mentally capable of understanding the contract; Genuine consent where both parties agree to the contract of their own ... • 46. Persuasive Essay On Open School Letter All the measures that are mentioned in the textbook are important. However, there a few of these measures that are not as important compared to the others listed. One of these measures involve the school mail. According to the textbook, students should not be opening the mail and that letter opening should be limited to a staff individual. The reasoning behind the measure is understandable; 2001 terrorists sent powdered anthrax through the mail. Nevertheless, why would students have access to school mail? School mail is usually delivered to the front desk, bypassing student s hands. There is no reason why a student should be opening school mail. Additionally, Trumps states that schools should ...review procedures for handling suspicious items such as envelopes with power substances that may be found in hallways, stairwell, restroom and other areas of the school... (Trump, 2011, p. 135). Instead of focusing on envelopes, why not focus on suspicious packages. Students are more likely to pick up a package off the ground than an envelope. Reviewing things that are more credible and likely would be better than having everyone become paranoid of a letter on the ground. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
