allows them to feel independent. This goes back to the phenomenon of reverse psychology. This
anomaly is revealed in numerous ancient tales such as the forbidden fruit, and even Shakespeare s
Romeo and Juliet. Ovid s myth Daedalus and Icarus is yet another example of disobedience; however,
there is much more to it than that. Well before the first flight, the ancient Greeks predicted the risks of
entering into the realm of the gods (Rogers). Daedalus and his son, Icarus, wanted to escape a
labyrinth that they were trapped in. Knowing they couldn t escape by land or sea, Daedalus, a great
inventor, fabricated two sets of wings with wax and feathers. He warned his son Icarus that if he flew
too high the sun would melt the wings, or if he flew too low the water would splash up and soak the
wings causing him to fall. After only a few minutes of flight Icarus becomes engulfed by the
excitement of flight and continues to ascend. As a result the wings melt and he falls to his death. The

written by Eugenia Collier, tells about a young girl named Lizabeth who grows up to become a

story this way but it s true. Once, a fifty year old African American woman was brought into our ED
with one hour of facial droop and weakness. We were immediately concerned for a stroke, and the

Introduction:
As you requested, I am submitting this executive summary after going through the task force report
given to Gregory Fenves, the president of the University of Texas at Austin. The report provides
different alternatives regarding controversial Confederate statues on their campus. These options will
help us implement policies on our campus and allow us to avoid any protests.
Statuary Options:
The purpose of this report is to inform Fenves that statues have deeper meaning and they are part of a
history that defines our present. Changing and replacing monuments is disrespectful towards donors,
Texans and soldiers who died in the war. Looking over these sentiments and issues, the Task Force

Prostitution is one of the oldest professions that have widely been practiced around the world, and the
Philippines is no exception to this. With the advent of Spanish colonists in the late 1500s, Filipina
slaves were sold as exotic sex objects or prostitutes to European brothels. During the early 1940s,
many Filipinas in Manila and surrounding towns served as comfort girls to provide sexual favors to

The Use Of Corporal Punishment In Schools
All across the US corporal punishment is being given to students as a method of discipline. Corporal
punishment is infliction of pain as a punishment for an offense. Corporal punishment is legal in 19
states in school and at home That means that the government is allowing students to suffer just so they
can learn a lesson. Corporal punishment does not belong in schools because it can hurt students
emotionally/mentally, it shows students discrimination, and can harm students physically. When a
child is hit by a teacher, it can harm them emotionally short and long term. The use of corporal
punishment in schools can make a child more aggressive, defiant, and oppositional (Dupper, CP in US
Public Schools). By hitting a student, the teacher is thinking they are teaching them a lesson but really
they are setting them up to be more defiant once more and be hit again. It is a vicious cycle that will
never end until the student is damaged for the rest of their life. Teachers hit kids because they think it
will help them out in the long run but really it can lead to a number of different things such as anxiety,
hostility, depression, aggression against authorities, teachers, and property. In the teachers mind they
are preventing this student from acting out again but really they can come back and destroy school
property. Also, the teacher may believe that because they hit this student the student will become a
better person but really it makes them so much worse. Lastly, corporal punishment can affect a student

think less of themselves because they believe that the reason they were hit is because they are lesser
