Attila The Hun s Influence On The European Empire
Attila The Hun
Research Paper
Attila The Hun was a ruthless and brutal leader that devastated the European empire. He reigned over
what was then Europe s largest empire, from 434 until his death. His empire stretched from Central
Europe to the Black Sea and from the Danube River to the Baltic. During his rule, he was among the
direst enemies of the Eastern and Western Roman Empires; he invaded the Balkans twice and
surrounded Constantinople in the second invasion. In much of Western Europe, he is remembered as
the model of cruelty and rape. At an early age Attila was shipped off to be a hostage to the Romans.
While he was there he had to learn the fighting techniques of the Romans. The empire taught Attila in
its courts, customs and traditions and in its grand lifestyle, in the hope that he would take respect of
these things back to his tribe. The Huns Probably have hoped that Attila would study the Romans
battle skills and how they attacked. While he was there he saw the riches that the Romans had. No one
is certain about his childhood before the age of twelve. When he was sent home, he ... Show more

The other places that hadn t been taken and burned by Attila were deathly afraid of what the Huns
would do to them. Attila thought hi men to make sure that they would cause as much pain as possible
and then kill the people. When the Huns were in battle and imp ailing people and shooting people,
they were only killing the men so that Attila could rape the women. Some of the women would revolt
and have to be killed. After the most of the people were killed and the gold was taken the Huns would
burn the villages with live people still inside. Once the Huns proved themselves that they were strong
and ready for the fight against the big cities and empires they started what they did best;

The Importance Of Cathedrals In David Macaulay s Cathedral
Stories about architecture are stories about people, said David Macaulay, author of Cathedral (4). The
intention of cathedrals was to draw people, and in turn inspire those who came to pray, learn, and
worship (Macaulay, Cathedral 4). Cathedrals remain inspirational in their enormous scale and
overpowering beauty, and that these places of worship are still standing after many centuries show a
level of determination and integrity in those that built the edifices (Macaulay, Cathedral 4). Architect
Vitruvius wrote, All the buildings have two components: The building itself and an idea that its
architecture tried to express (McNamara 6). People build churches because they believed in something
(McNamara 6). In David Macaulay s book, Built to Last, he says the mindset behind building
cathedrals was that of honor and dedication. Macaulay s research noted that, The new cathedral would
be built to the glory of God, and it mattered little that it might take more than one hundred years to
construct it (Macaulay, Built to Last 98). However, there is more to cathedrals than just building
something grand and beautiful to honor God. Churches and cathedrals were built to be packed with
meaning (Taylor 1), and were used to illustrate key points of Christian teaching through the use of
imagery (Taylor 5). Cathedrals were a place to immerse individuals in worship. Religious parents
encourage their children to pray, take them to church and to religious events (Newberg and

In Addition To Saving And Bequest Channels, The Proposed
In addition to saving and bequest channels, the proposed model in this paper identifies two additional
channel of child labor. These are heterogeneity in child s ability, which causes heterogeneity in the
cost of education, and differential future expectation of parents depending on their socio economic
background. I attempt to capture these four channels using a number of variables. For saving, I use
income of household head and for bequest, I use whether the household owns any house. Here income
of household head may be under reported or may have some types of measurement errors, so, we use
several other variables to instrument it. Ownership of a house is used to capture bequest as housing
price is very high almost across the country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, the socio economic group in which the household head belongs to is also crucial in forming
household head s expectation. Thus, I use household head s gender ($Head_female$), Household head
s sector of employment ($Sector$), religion of household head ($Religion$), and the location of
household ($Urban$). Using these variables I estimate the following models: Where $y$ is child s
working hours per day, $ extbf{X}={Urban, Sector, Female, Head_literacy, Religion, House,$ $
Head_income, Head_female, Dropout_ability, Dropout_cost, Dropout_income}$, $ extbf{Z}=
{Urban, Head _sector,$ $ Female, Head _literacy, House, Land, Num _hhchld, Head _literacy,
Head_age, Dropout_ability,$ $Dropout_cost, Religion, Dropout_income, TV, Head_female}$,
$Q_{N}(eta) = g_{N}(eta) W_{N}g_{N}(eta)$, $g_{N}(eta)=frac{1}{N} sum_{i=1}^{N}Z
epsilon$, and $W$ is a $N imes N$ positive semi definite matrix. In addition, I also estimate logit and
probit model of child labor, where I attempt to estimate the probabilities of being a child labor with
respect to the variables mentioned above. Results of these models are shown in the following table:
In the above table second column reports the OLS estimates. Dummy $Urban$ has positive
coefficient, which indicates that child labor on an average work 0.4 hour more in

Julius Caesar Comradery
The strength of a comradery is put to the test in the tragic play, Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare.
Brutus, an honorable Roman, and Cassius, a man with questionable motives, come together against
the Roman army after assassinating Julius Caesar. In the early parts of the play, these two men seem to
work well together, however as the story progresses, the conspirators reveal their true colors which
leads to their defeat. Although Brutus and Cassius lost the war and their lives in the original story, by
having the two stick together and focus on what is important, they would pose an unstoppable force to
the Romans thus saving both their lives. The first instance of Brutus and Cassius drift apart is in act
four, scene two. The two revolutionaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ghost is actually the manifestation of Brutus doubt and guilt, which is why Caesar says, thou
shalt see me at Philippi, signifying that Brutus is not completely certain that his choice to advance to
Philippi is the best decision to make (4.3.327). In the author s plays, whenever a character sees a
ghost, it foreshadows their death later in the story. Brutus becomes fearful of this, and selfishly puts
his life above everyone else s. Without thinking, Brutus orders his servants to Bid [Cassius] set on his
powers betimes before [us]..., which divided and weakened their army as a whole (4.3.353). Sending
Cassius off without the help of Brutus army is a futile strategy, and he is aware of that. Brutus knows
the strength of the Roman army but still sends Cassius group after them to preserve his own life. This
shows that after their previous argument, Brutus does not really care about Cassius anymore despite
his farewell to him in act five. The war tactic that Brutus uses ensures the death of the army and
himself as well, however this could all be avoided if the men set aside their differences for the sake of

Economic Growth And Saudi Arabia
Economic Growth in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has an economy that is largely dependent on oil, with the government maintaining the
biggest control over the country s significant economic activities. Saudi Arabia owns about 16% of the
global oil reserves and is the number one exporter of oil (Saudi Arabia, 2013). In addition, the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was instrumental in the formation of the OPEC (Organization of the
Petroleum Exporting Countries) group, which initially comprised Iraq, Venezuela, Iran, Kuwait and
Venezuela (Energy indicators, 2004). Currently, the petroleum industry constitutes about 80% of the
country s budgetary incomes; about 40% of the country s GDP and 87% of Saudi s export earnings.
Agriculture, in addition to petroleum products, has been a major contributor to the kingdom s
economy since 1970s (Saudi Arabia, 2013). The country has been able to produce enough agricultural
products for their consumption as well as surplus for exportation to the GCC member countries.
Saudi s Pattern of Economic Growth
Initially, Saudi Arabia was largely a subsistence economy, gaining its revenues from subsistence
agriculture and sale of natural resources. The Saudi population was highly dependent on subsistence
farming and was very poor, given that climatic conditions in Saudi Arabia are not favourable for food
production. However, the situation drastically changed when oil was first discovered in 1930 s.
Although a highly sought after commodity, oil prices were

California Air Pollution
Los Angeles has the worst air quality in the nation. In the Los Angeles area an estimated 1,341 people
die each year from conditions caused by poor air quality (Danelski, 2016). When compared to our
neighboring cities and counties our death rate is significantly higher. While both local and state
governments have enforced many different regulations to combat air pollution. Point Sources of Air
Pollution A major source of air pollution in Los Angeles is diesel engines. Diesel engines are an
internal combustion engine having fuel injected into the combustion chamber near the end of the
combustion stroke. The fuel is ignited by the heat of compression only (Hoffman, 2002). Diesel fuel is
created from refined crude oil. There is a three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
California is a hub for transport and agriculture. Last year, The Port of Long Beach unloaded an
estimated 3.8 million TEUS (Twenty foot equivalent unit) (Port of Long Beach). These units were
moved around California and into other states using diesel trucks. These diesel trucks emit high levels
of sulfur, nitrogen oxides, and carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
The second significant point source for air pollution is wildfires. In 2017 alone, there were 7,117 fires
across the entire state of California which burned a total of 505,956 acres (CAL FIRE, 2018). Twenty
nine of these fires took place in Southern California in December. The Thomas Fire was the largest in
State history. It burned a total of 281,620 acres. The Thomas Fire burned for a total of forty days and
caused numerous environmental issues.
Wildfires are common in areas with hot and dry weather as well as dry brush. In the United States
alone, ninety percent of wildfires are started by unattended campfires, burning cigarettes, and arson
(National Park Service). Wildfires emit carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide into the
environment. The release of these chemicals into the environment can have a long term effect on the
environment. California s recent drought, dry country sides, and warmer winter months have led to a

Alprazolam
One example of a type of benzodiazepine is alprazolam. Alprazolam is a scientifically proven
effective benzodiazepine for generalized anxiety disorders and panic disorders (Griffin, Kaye, Kaye,
2013). It is short acting and highly potent, with an elimination half life of 6.3 to 26.9 hours (Griffin,
Kaye, Kaye, 2013). Due to its short elimination half life, a prevalent issue found with alprazolam is
that high levels of anxiety occur abruptly after discontinuing the drug (Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013). It
belongs in the triazolo subgroup of benzodiazepines, as it has a triazolo ring at the 1,2 position, and a
carbon chain attached to it (Maddison, Page, Church , 2008). The triazolo ring is a five membered ring
made up of three nitrogen and two carbon atoms. There are also two double bonds present. ... Show

For the expression of inhibitory activity, the presence of an electronegative group is present at this
position (Hruby Vardanyan, 2006). This type of benzodiazepine is readily absorbed in the body, with
peak concentrations times in the plasma of around one to two hours after administration (Xanax,
2014). The presence of an OH group make compounds less lipophilic and thus are absorbed slower
(Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013). Since there isn t any OH group attached to alprazolam, it is a high protein
bound agent (80%), and has a fast absorption rate and onset of action (Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013).
With faster absorption rates, means a faster distribution rate to the brain and the GABAA receptors
(Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013)Alprazolam is metabolized by the cytochrome P450 enzymes into two
major metabolites called 4 hydroxyalprazolam and α hydroxyalprazolam (Alprazolam Intensol, n.d.).
The drug and its metabolites are then excreted in the urine (Alprazolam Intensol, n.d.). The synthesis
of alprazolam is from 2 chloroquinoline (Crasto, n.d.) (Refer to Appendix

Kodak Black Thesis
You may know him from his Lisa Simpson haircut or his mouth full of 24 karat gold teeth; he is the 19
year old rapper that is taking the music industry by storm. In the past, two years his music has gained
national recognition and appealed to all types of fan bases. He is a force not to be reckoned with and
his name is Kodak Black. He is the self proclaimed Project Baby from South Florida that is giving
rapper a run for their money. Jon Caramanica, from the New York Times, described Black as an
unlikely savior for a hip hop industry that has lately been preoccupied with melodic minded Drake
clones. Instead, he s an old fashioned literalist and represents the perennial power of grit even in a

Figurative Language Used In The Beauty Poem Analysis
5. There are many poetic devices and figurative language used in both poems. In the innocence poem
the Nurse s song we see a metaphor when the nurse says, My heart is at rest within my breast ,
meaning that the nurse is content and filled with peace and joy while watching the children at play.
Imagery and symbolism is used in both poems with the color green which associates with growth,
fertility and spring. (Represent places of play and freedom) Also, in the Innocence poem, imagery is
used when said, Besides in the sky, the little birds fly and the hills are all covered with sheep . These
creatures are gentle just like the children are and the birds in particular are symbolic of freedom. In the
experience poem the word night , metaphorically represents danger and sadness. (completely opposite
of the innocence where light was used to positively portray the children). In the experience poem the
Nanny makes a metaphor when she says, My face turns green and pale , the notes on the back of the
book explain how this means that the Nurse is a sex starved spinster. Meaning that she is a woman
who did not experience a happy youth, and who is sick for the longings of experience, and who is
maybe jealous of the children. The poetic devices and figurative language impact the whole meaning
of the poem completely, because without the multiple metaphors and imagery used I would of never of
guessed that the Nurses green and pale face meant what it meant. (made the poems come together

In Ancient Egypt, stelas are either stone or wooden slabs...
In Ancient Egypt, stelas are either stone or wooden slabs used as a means of presenting a monument,
usually for funerary purposes. They were also used as markers between territories. Stelas usually
feature some sort of decoration and are carved in relief, either raised or sunken. Paint also was
incorporated in some of these stelas and often featured hieroglyphics detailing the scene. In Egypt
these stelas were primarily used as funerary ornaments, very much resembling tombstones. Looking
from the first dynasty on, stelas changed throughout the dynasties in Egypt including their shapes,
kind of decorations, and their inscriptions. Initially used as tombstones, these stelas were placed
outside of the tombs to name the tomb owner and acted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historians suggest that these stelas might have been placed on the outside of funerary complex while
others suggest that they may have been used to roof the structure. Although many theories exist, it is
pretty much commonly agreed that these stelas did not exist within the tombs walls during this time.
Abydos becomes an important location during Ancient Egyptian history. The end of the Old Kingdom
saw the city of Abydos as the center for Osiris. We see Abydos becoming the destination for
pilgrimages and the site for annual festivities. Looking specifically at the stelas at Abydos we see that
they are smaller in size and lack the artistic preciseness we see in later funerary complexes. The stelas
at Abydos were set up in pairs though and do not feature the rounded top that we identify with the first
and second dynasties. These stelas depict the tomb owner and are inscribed with their title and name.
Looking at the funerary stela located in the Metropolitan Museum of art dated between the first and
fourth century is composed of limestone and found at Abydos. Anubis is depicted as she presents the
deceased to the enthroned Osiris (MET). Also depicted is the mourning goddesses Isis and Nephthys,
both very crudely executed and are merely silhouetted forms with oversized heads. This exaggeration
of form is suggested to represent the impact of the subject

Sir Isaac Newton Essay example
Why do things fall when we drop them? How come we do not float as we would on the moon? Where
do the colors of a rainbow come from? How long would it take to drive across Colorado if you are
constantly changing speeds? All of these questions can now be answered, largely impart because of
the great English philosopher, Sir Isaac Newton. In a time where religion was at war with science,
Isaac Newton opened up people s minds to theories and reason. Isaac Newton was to be the starburst
of the Enlightenment. He became the foundation of enlightened thought. It was the 17th century, the
time of the Scientific Revolution. Many brilliant men contributed to this time, but it was Newton who

But how was he to figure out where the object would be if it constantly sped up or slowed down?
Where would the object be if it traveled around curves? This is the concept of calculus. Using his
knowledge of algebra, Newton set out to find the value of an unknown number that kept changing. He
did this by figuring out that the integration of a function was simply the inverse of differentiating it.
Newton had just developed a method for finding changing and flowing quantities (Margaret, 42). He
had just invented calculus. Newton went even further after this. With the use of calculus, he was able
to find the area under an open curve known as a hyperbola. He went on to take this answer to 52
decimal places (Margaret, 47). While Isaac Newton was very satisfied with these results, he had other
things on his mind, and he continued to amaze the world. Following his work in calculus, Isaac
Newton hardly broke stride. He continued his studies and experiments on lights and colors. In 1665,
Newton performed a number of experiments on the composition of light. With his first experiment,
Newton bought a prism. He then closed all the curtains so that he was in a darkened room. After the
room was dark, he proceeded to let a small stream of light pass through his window shuts and he
noticed that the prism broke up the white light

The Jurassic Period is a time period were new dinosaurs were being discovered and found. It was
about 199.6 to 145.5 million years ago. Some of the species that were found in the Jurassic Period are
the Stegosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and Allosaurus. Each dinosaur had their own
characteristics for survival. The weather in the Jurassic Period was warm and humid. The tectonic
shift took place, several rifts were formed and filled with water, forming, what would later become
many of today s oceans and seas. These oceans were small and shallow giving way to an excellent,

in reality zoos are necessary because of observation, preventing extinction, and injuries. Scientists all

Ghost Hunt Research Paper
If you believe in ghosts, you aren t alone. A YouGov survey of about 1,000 people says that 45% of

crazy to believe that people can stick around after they die and even interact with objects in our world,
but so many people swear they have encountered something that they can t explain. I ve always grew

one, and is incorporated into countless literature, from the Bible to Macbeth . It has inspired so many
different kinds of media like horror movies, ghost stories, and tv shows. I grew up watching some of
these things, and the question always remained in my head: Are ghosts real? I really wanted to answer

Achieving Inclusion In Education
Inclusion is the provision of strategies and resources to ensure all children are given the opportunity to
reach their full potential irrespective of ethnicity, religious belief, gender, sexual orientation or
disability (Dean, 2006; Department for Education (DfE), 2013). To attain inclusion, individuals must
be enabled to fully participate in mainstream activities and to be valued and accepted within the
school community (Coyle, 2011). However, Barnard, Prior, and Potter (2000) acknowledge that the
process of inclusive education can prove challenging (Coyle, 2011; Simpson and De Boer, 2009;
Humphrey, 2008).
Under the 1944 Education Act, children with special educational needs were arranged according to
their medical condition (House of Commons, 2006). Many children were considered to be uneducable
in mainstream settings and were considered to be mentally retarded , maladjusted or sub normal
(House of Commons, 2006). Pupils with SEN were often sent to special schools and taught practical
skills as an alternative to standard education (Bateman, Lloyd and Tankersley, 2015). The Warnock
Report in 1978, followed by the 1981 Education Act, introduced the idea of special educational needs
(SEN), statements, and an inclusive approach to education (House of Commons, 2006). ... Show more

century ago when he then linked autism to schizophrenia (Crespi, 2010; Feinstein, 2010). However,

Louise Rosenblatt Poem
Reflection on Rosenblatt Limerick (Ireland) is a cold, humid city. Days in Limerick are gray. Always
rains there. A continuous drizzle falls day after day. You need to watch out where you are walking, try
to avoid the mud on your shoes. It is always wet and muddy. You need also to be careful, people throw
their waste into the streets. The odor, as you can imagine, is unbearable. This city is poor and
miserable. Macondo (Colombia) is a hot, humid little town lost somewhere in the Colombian coast.
Macondo has a delicious fruity aroma due to the guava tress that you could see there. However, you
do not want to be outside at noon, the sun at that time is brutal. That is the reason why the majority of
people living in Macondo prefer to take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader and the text make possible to construct multiple layers of reality. Rosenblatt states:
literature especially invites confusion about its relation with reality (p. 33); thus, the pretended reality
of the text only emerges when the reader makes it real. Text reality is not just related to the tangible
world, but it is related to the realities constructed in the mind of the reader. It is not uncommon, for
example, to see children creating realities in their minds when they read. It has been more than once
that I have seen my own children to mimic the voices of the characters of the text. How can they
mimic a sound that is not audible? This only could be explained through Rosenblatt s framework of
the transactional process of reading. Rosenblatt philosophy of reading has made possible, for those
who belief that reading is much more than the processing of printed words, to understand the reader s
position as the center of the transaction, and create around him/her a truly supportive literacy system,
not just to be able to decode printed symbols, but also to construct the meaning of texts. I am sure that
I was provided this literary context in the form of accessing to books and caring of my reading
practices; otherwise, I am afraid, my love for reading would have disappeared as the years

The Idea Of Social Entrepreneurship
On the idea of social entrepreneurship
The idea of social entrepreneurship implies diverse things to various individuals and analysts (Dees,
1998). One gathering of scientists alludes to social enterprise as not revenue driven activities looking
for option financing methodologies, or administration plans to make social worth (Austin, Stevenson,
and Wei Skiller, 2003; Boschee, 1998). A second gathering of analysts comprehends it as the socially
mindful routine of business organizations occupied with cross area associations (Sagawa and Segal,
2000; Waddock, 1988). Also, a third gathering sees social business as a way to reduce social issues
and catalyze social change (Alvord et al., 2004).
It is vital to take note of the theoretical contrasts between definitions. Meanings of social
entrepreneurship normally allude to a procedure or conduct; meanings of social entrepreneurship
people center rather on the author of the activity; and meanings of social endeavors allude to the
unmistakable result of social enterprise. In spite of the huge number of definitions, precise endeavors
to guide activities and definitions are uncommon (see Boschee (1995) and Waddock and Post (1995),
for two exemptions). While integral definitions, every concentrating on various parts of the wonder,
are not as a matter of course a hindrance in the quest for hypothesis, despite everything we don t have

1. Explain the role of finance in society.
The common perception is that finance is associated with wealth management enlarging portfolios,
managing portfolio risks and tax liabilities, ensuring that rich grow richer. On the other hand, good
society is considered to be the one in which people respect and appreciate each other. From that point
of view it seems that finance and good society are like an oxymoron, finance goals are contradicting
with those of society. There are conspiracy theories like Pax Morgana that the financial system is
guilty for the Great Depression. That theory was revitalized nowadays with the 2008 financial crisis as

Illustrate these decisions with examples.
Among the most important decisions that a company takes are the following ones: dividend
distribution, investment decisions and financing decisions.
2.1. At the end of each year when financial statements are verified by the auditors, the company
management is facing the dilemma: what to do with the profit? The dilemma is related with the
question whether to please shareholders by giving them large dividends or to keep the money in the
company for investment purposes. This decision however does lie exclusively in the hands of the
company management. If they decide large dividends, then the funds needed for investments and
growth will be reduced significantly. This may jeopardize the company s competitive position without
investments, the company s future is always at stake.
2.2. If the company s shareholders decide to vote small dividends then the management will have
more funds for investments. As a rule companies approve those projects that have a positive net
present value and the rate of return is higher than the hurdle rate.
2.3. If company profit is not sufficient to cover the investment plans, then the company has to start
looking for external financing in order to fulfil its investment program. Financing however may be
costly if company results are not good enough to motivate any bank to give a loan. If banks refuse a
loan, then the company should try to raise funds on the stock

The Art Of Flamenco Dancing
Mahatma Gandhi once stated that A nations culture resides in the hearts and souls of its people This
holds evident in the European country of Spain. Spain is a country of long time tradition in which
people work hard to continue on with a culture they created long ago. Spain is a very colorfully
cultured country with many famous and important traditions one of which is, the art of flamenco

Flamenco, a beguiling mix of guitar, song and dance forged by the ancient Andalucía Gypsies. Its
theme of joy and sorrow appears to be an expression of the Gypsy way of life. Flamenco is very

To find reality behind Flamencos post card image you could look towards Granada. Here you would

Gypsies lived in caves cut out of the soft hillside of Sacromonte. There are two types of gypsies.
Gypsy s from the north and gypsies from the South. Those in the south came with dancing styles

Christian reconquest of Spain. They brought with them strong Indian connections within their song

were determined to remove Muslims and Jews and the gypsies where caught up in the persecution.

Although many view children s fiction as suitable only to children, and an embarrassingly immature
pursuit for a serious person, children stories mold the way we think. They allows us to look at very
complex and difficult issues in a safe and playful way, and they give us the freedom to imagine the
unimaginable.
Some stories have been told for hundreds of years, and they are constantly reinterpreted to fit the
current social norms and values. Two of the best known stories today are Disney s Cinderella and
Beauty and the Beast, and they are in part responsible for the widespread view that children s stories
are frivolous and lack dept. Of course learning to see the beauty inside (Disney, 1991), and believing
that being good and doing the right thing will ultimately be rewarded (Disney, 1950), are ... Show

The government of Spain actively supports the small business sector of the economy. As of 2006 there
were over 3 million small and medium sized businesses in Spain, representing over 99% of all
businesses in the country. The Spanish government provides various grants and incentives for the
creation and expansion of small businesses in Spain as well as support and services to business
owners. Recent government campaigns and initiatives have focused on support for entrepreneurs,
primarily in response to Spain s economic goals for the future. Increasing competitiveness and
promoting innovation were identified as key strategies to maintain, grow and keep Spain s economy
dynamic (Dreamer, 2008). The key factors such as strong economy, large population base, expansive
tourist trade and active government involvement provide a strong argument for migration into Spain s
marketplace.
Reasons for Expansion
Jamba has become a way of life for millions of Americans and the company believes that they can
extend that opportunity to Spain and other international marketplaces. A recent Piper Jaffray report

Stanislavsky is the father of today s style of acting....
Stanislavsky is the father of today s style of acting. Constantine Stanislavsky (1863 1938) was the
innovator for method acting. He changed the process of acting in which actors immerse themselves
into their characters as much as possible. He wanted acting to change to a realistic art. Stanislavsky
wanted his actors to avoid habitual mannerisms on stage (Worthen, 33). He used a method that
includes five techniques to help an actor submerge into their characters. The magic if, re education,
observation, motivation and emotional memory are all techniques Stanislavsky used to help mold his
actors (Bradford).
The first technique requires the actor to use their imagination. The magic if requires the actor to ask

He taught his actors to research the role by diving into the script and breaking down the characters
motivations. Then recalling their personal experiences and forming a motivation. It is then the actor
could achieve a more genuine performance (Bishop, 1999).
Stanislavsky s methods are still being used in today s acting. In the article, Building Characters: The
Work of Celebrity Impersonators, the author writes about how impersonators use Stanislavsky s
method. Ferris writes, the method is by far a more popular system in contemporary American theatre,
film, and television acting but it serves a purpose when discussing celebrity impersonation. When
impersonating Marilyn Monroe, the actor uses the method by renting all of Marilyn s movies, studying
every detail from the makeup to body language. Impersonators truly use the method by diving into the
character completely (Ferris 2011). A new concept of method acting has recently hit the news is when
actors take their performance to an extreme level. Articles titled Method acting gone too far, touch
base with the extreme actions actors endure to play their characters accurately. One of the more
experienced method actors, Daniel Day Lewis is known for wild means of preparing for roles. Weeks
of slouching in his wheelchair got him two broken ribs for his role in My Left Foot. He also forced
people to spoon feed him his meals to better get into character. Tom

The Inspiring Legacy of Corrie ten Boom
We must tell people, Corrie. We must tell them what we learned, said Betsie. The Hiding Place, by
Corrie ten Boom, is the biography of a woman in Holland during the Holocaust. The book starts out in
1937, in Haarlem, Holland. Corrie and her family were Christians who hid Jews from persecution by
the German soldiers. Corrie was forced to make decisions and take actions all throughout different
periods in her life. When her mother fell ill, she learned to care for someone who couldn t do anything

God when faced with fear, and He helped them to be brave during the underground period. Despite
their efforts, the ten Boom family was captured and taken to concentration camps, although the Jews
in the house were not found. Casper, Corrie s father, died ten days later, and Nollie was released
eventually, but Betsie and Corrie stayed imprisoned. Unfortunately, they were subjected to horrific
conditions, and they witnessed the deaths of many innocent people. For many people, the
concentration camp would have been the end of their work, but for Corrie and Betsie the months they
spent in Ravensbrück became their finest hour. Corrie described how she struggled with and overcame
the hate that she had for the man who betrayed her family. Holding secret worship services, Corrie and
Betsie were able to comfort the inmates and share the love of Christ. Although Betsie eventually died
of sickness, Corrie was able to continue her legacy within the concentration camps and beyond, in her
ministry. The Hiding Place is a fascinating story of Corrie ten Boom during the Holocaust, who
overcame fear, pain, and tragedy with the help of her family and God. Selflessly, she cared for

Fear And Loathing In America By Hunter S. Thompson
From this week s reading, I chose to write analysis and synthesis of the story by Hunter S. Thompson,
Fear and loathing in America. The author narrates in the story about the event surrounding the 9/11
and made some predictions about the possible consequences of war that are going to start to happen
due to the attack on the American soil. To state one of the author s predictions that he said for sure will
happen and what really we experienced and witness today that his predicts are for real happening. it
will be a religious war, a sort of Christian jihad, fueled by religious hatred and led by merciless
fanatics on both sides (Thompson, 2001, p.7). As the author stated in the story, media and political
figures played a major role in decorating the attack as if it was a religious war carried out by religious
extremists, who want to start a new crusade war of the 21st century. It was never mentioned as
politically motivated attack, but of rootless extremists who want to get rid of Christianity. As a result

The Moro National Liberation Front
The Philippines security threat has been in danger for many years dating back to the establishment of
the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF). MNLF sought to establish an autonomous Muslim
region within the country. (Fowler, 2011) MNLF used guerilla style tactics against the country for
several years before agreeing to a ceasefire with the Philippine government in 1976. (Fowler, 2011) As
with many ceasefire agreements not everyone within the group was in favor of the deal therefore
resulting in members establishing a separate group known as the Moro Islamic Liberation Front
(MILF) which established the Islamist insurgency within the country. (Fowler, 2011) MILF has
remained the primary internal threat to the country for more than the last 40 years. They have utilized
insurgent tactics against the government primarily in the southern region of Mindanao resulting in the
death of more than 120,000 Philippines. (Reuters, 2014) In March 2014 the Philippine government
and MILF signed a peace agreement calling for the end of disputes in exchange for an autonomous
Muslim region in the south. (Whaley, 2014) Despite the agreement there is still cause for concern with
internal threats to the country. Much like the agreement with MNLF in 1976 not all MILF members
agree with the pact and have established smaller factions to continue operations against the
government. (Reuters, 2014) A separate Islamist group established in 1990 is the Abu Sayyaf Group

The Negative Effect Of Polarization As The Presidential...

we see the negative effect of polarization as the presidential campaign has become candidate centered

Hearing The Differences Of The Deaf Culture
Hearing the differences
According to the World Health Organization, there are 360 Million people in this world who live with
a debilitating hearing loss. Hearing loss and deafness is more common than what it s perceived to be.
Hearing individuals may view people with a type of loss as a minority. Every minority group has their
story to tell. The Deaf have a very unique story, but they are not a minority group but rather a culture.
Carol Paden author of Inside Deaf Culture defines a culture as a group of people that share language,
values, rules of behavior, and traditions. The Deaf culture is unlike any other culture seen before and it
differentiates from the typical American culture in many ways. The difference of this culture that
makes them special is that they are a culture that has not been passed by residence, nationality, or
percentage. They are a minority but they are not defined as a minority group. The Deaf defiantly don t
have as many privileges as the hearing culture such as being heard and often being underestimated and
discriminated for their disability.
When examining the Deaf culture the idea of family has deep roots of communication, support,
advocacy and self identity. Not every person who is deaf or hard of hearing is part of the Deaf term,
which excludes him or her from the Deaf culture.
Holcomb, Author of Introduction to American Deaf culture states that the term Deaf refers to an
individual who uses ASL, identifies as a member of Deaf culture, and

The Theme Of Rebellion In George Orwell s 1984
Rebellions happened all throughout history and still continue in the present. Bacon s Rebellion
continues to have a lasting impact on today s society. In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, the theme
of rebellion is prevalent. The government system of Big Brother controls every aspect of the people s
lives. As the story progresses, the main character Winston Smith, finds himself having hatred for Big
Brother and wants to find a way to end the Party s reign. Other characters, like Julia, only want to
rebel for personal reasons and want no major changes. In George Orwell s 1984, the use of imagery to
draw parallels between Winston s struggle against Big Brother and man s repeated clashes with nigh
totalitarian government. The struggle to beat a power that has already gained control is grueling. In
order to successfully revolt, there would need to be a large mass of people willing to uprise. The
people in overpowering governments are brainwashed to believe in the false reality placed in front of
them. Trying to convince people what they have been told is fake is a challenge that is hard to surpass.
Winston Smith placed himself on a mission to help take down Big Brother, and in turn takes down
himself. Winston wanted to rebel against Big Brother for future generations to experience life in a way
he is unable to. With memories of the past, Winston realizes the world he lives in is very flawed.
Mentally, Winston wants to destroy Big Brother; however, Winston wants to remain part of

Motivation Students With Learning Disabilities
Motivation in Students with Learning Disabilities
Rizka Puspitarani (3490616)
What is Learning Disability?
Learning disabilities (LD), or in some clinical cases called specific learning disorder, is a
neurodevelopmental disorder which the individual is experiencing difficulties in learning and using
academic skills (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Person with LD usually shows at least one
difficulty in literacy (i.e.: inaccurate or slow and takes effort to read, difficult to understand the
meaning of what he/she reads, difficult to spell words, or difficult with written expression) or in
numerical reasoning (i.e.: number sense, calculation, or mathematical reasoning). Dyslexia and
dyscalculia are the examples of specific cases in LD. The prevalence of school age children with LD is
5% 15% of the population across different language and cultures with males have higher risk than
females (2:1 to 3:1); while the prevalence of adults with LD is approximately 4%. The prognostic
factors of LD might because of genetic factors or environmental factors (i.e.: premature, low birth
weight, or nicotine exposure during prenatal).
How is motivation in students with LD?
Number of studies had examined motivation in students with LD. The results show that motivation
score is lower in children with LD (Grolnick Ryan, 1990; Lincoln Chazan, 1979). In Grolnick and
Ryan study (1990), both teacher and students themselves reported significantly less autonomous and
less motivated than

My Cultural Identity In Remember The Titans
What is cultural identity? What is my cultural identity? We can go into my mind to see what we can
find. I am a calm, easygoing, relaxed, athletic, and a somewhat independent latin american person. I
believe this because I am easy to get along with, I sometimes want to do things on my own, and I
exercise and play sports. Since I am latin, I have to speak spanish at home or around my family, but I
speak english outside of home. My parents don t speak english, so they use me as a translator
wherever we go. This is a somewhat representation of my cultural identity. We will find out the rest of
my cultural identity with a representation of my rosary, watching Remember the Titans, having some
food.
My favorite movie is Remember the Titans. It is a sports and drama movie, directed by Boaz Yakin,
which also directed other films like Max, and Safe. Denzel Washington and Will Patton star in the film
as the coaches of the football team. The message is to never judge a book by its cover. In Virginia high
school football is a way of life, it s celebrated like a National holiday. In 1971 high school football
was everything to the people of Alexandria, Virginia. Until in 1971 the local school board was forced
to integrate an all black schools and an all white the district, the foundation of football s great tradition
was put to the test. But the movie is more than just football. The integrated high school football team
are to learn to get along with each other despite their racial

Reflection About Vanity
I lean my head towards the window, my eyes desperately following the painted signs and the road. My
mother, who has an ability to drive for long periods of time, and I are on my way to my aunt s house.
As we drove my mind would envision the hours of hopscotch and jump rope with an old friend. An
hour or two later my mom and I would make it to her apartment complex in St. Cloud, Minnesota. As
my aunt and my mother conversate about our family and upcoming events, I would make my way to
the parking lot to find a young girl, who had short brown hair and LOTS of toys. I would always come
over to my aunt s apartment and find this young girl outside. As we would play one of us would
accidentally mention that our mothers had told us we were the prettiest girls in the world. We started
to argue on which one of us was prettier than the other. How can little girls who were best friends, all
of a sudden be arguing about vanity? Little did I know, that the buoyant world I had lived in for all
these years would take a turn for the worst and expose me to the prejudice that can inhabit peoples
hearts.
As I made my way down the hall, my mother gripping my hand tightly, I excitedly make my way to
Mrs. Schmidt s kindergarten classroom. Kindergarten was the only time in my life when I was friends
with everyone. When people are that young they don t even notice if someone is odd or different, if
they are a living being they don t mind playing a game of duck duck goose with them. As I

Business Process Change-Checkers Restaurant
Q#1 Provide the name of the organization (this must be a real organization and you may use the
organization where you currently work; describe the organization s size and summarize the primary
mission of the organization. Don t simply copy from the organization s mission statement. I have
chosen to evaluate and examine Checkers fast food restaurant for this business process change project.
Checkers boasts to be the restaurant where customers can Feast On . The menu at Checkers is Bold
food for those who like it big . The restaurant chain may boast big flavor but one thing it doesn t boast
is a nutritious options menu which almost every other fast food competitor provides. Due to the rising
rate of obesity in children and adults in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the repeatable process we can take advantage of Checkers successes and add onto them
utilizing the menu change as a process to achieve the goal of offering a larger variety for anyone who
wants to enjoy dining at Checkers. Checkers does have a defined process when it comes to menu
items but the process when it comes to nutrition is definitely not documented as there is not a process
in place. Within this part of the process we will need to redefine the menu and add processes for
selection and implementation of additional items being added to the exiting menu.
As the managed step in the process is examined the process and procedure to add additional items to
the Checkers menu will be aligned with the restaurants strategies and goals. One of the goals of
Checkers is to provide quality food to customers. If this goal is to be attained, the strategy to add
additional items and add revenue to satisfy shareholders will be implemented and tracked throughout
the process. At this stage, data can be collected from consumers to analyze which changes can be
made to optimize the processes in place. Within the optimizing stage of process enhancement,
Checker s will continue to analyze processes and also present additional ownership to employees to
continue process improvement. Mastery comes at all levels so employees, shareholders, and
consumers will all benefit mutually. Everyone is involved in trial

The Beachfront Plain Is Undulating With Heights Somewhere...
Study area The beachfront plain is undulating with heights somewhere around zero and 600m above
ocean level. The hinterland is portrayed by a moving low level. Transformative rocks constitute this
level while the seaside plain is made out of sedimentary arrangements and outcrops of changeable
rocks. Mean yearly precipitation is around 3000mm in Kribi. In the same station the mean yearly

Etekpe, n.d.). The indigenous tribes are overwhelmingly seekers, agriculturists, and anglers who rely
on upon the common habitat for their survival. This timberland harbors pigmies whose livelihoods are
exclusively subject to rummaging and chasing. There are three urban focuses and a few little towns in
the zone. There was an uncontrolled inundation of individuals looking for development occupations or
seeking to give administrations to the vagrant work constrain around the pipeline course and at the
Kribi Port. This flood of to a great extent male occupation seekers prompted genuine social
disturbance of urban and town groups (Grimes, 2005). The pipeline undertaking crosses the South
Western piece of Cameroon which is a zone possessed by the Bakola Pygmies. As per the World Bank,

Rupert Brookes Dulce Et Decorum Est
World War 1 was known as the Great War. Many soldiers fought and many soldiers died. In the soldier
by Rupert Brookes he tries to influence the reader into thinking that going to war is a good thing,
whereas in Dulce et Decorum Est, Wilfred Owens describes war as what it really is. Fear, and horror.
He tries to influence the reader that war is not a good thing and it s not worth risking your life for. In
this essay I will argue how both Brookes and Owens did very good jobs of influencing peoples
opinions on the Great War. Rupert Brookes portrays war as being a great service to your family and
country. He implies that even if you die, you will live on both in the real world and the afterlife. This
is shown in the quote Washed by the rivers, blest by the suns of home . This seems to describes a sort
baptism almost. It s as if you re being reborn into the afterlife, a new man. This would ve appealed to
many men back when it was published as most people were religious in some way or another. The fact
that after fighting for king and country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

flood in like a tsunami, taking all in its path and destroying it. He lunges at me, guttering, choking,

each time. There s also a sense of assonance with the repetition of ing . Each word is progressively on
a lower note, implanting that fear even more. The white eyes writing in his face uses alliteration to
influence the readers thoughts even more. The w sound created from white and writhing is sharp and
shallow, leaving you wondering of the worst. Throughout owns piece almost all words have negative
connotations in one way or another. This furthers the influence it has on you and really helps the idea
that war is terrible and full of

  • 2. Attila The Hun s Influence On The European Empire Attila The Hun Research Paper Attila The Hun was a ruthless and brutal leader that devastated the European empire. He reigned over what was then Europe s largest empire, from 434 until his death. His empire stretched from Central Europe to the Black Sea and from the Danube River to the Baltic. During his rule, he was among the direst enemies of the Eastern and Western Roman Empires; he invaded the Balkans twice and surrounded Constantinople in the second invasion. In much of Western Europe, he is remembered as the model of cruelty and rape. At an early age Attila was shipped off to be a hostage to the Romans. While he was there he had to learn the fighting techniques of the Romans. The empire taught Attila in its courts, customs and traditions and in its grand lifestyle, in the hope that he would take respect of these things back to his tribe. The Huns Probably have hoped that Attila would study the Romans battle skills and how they attacked. While he was there he saw the riches that the Romans had. No one is certain about his childhood before the age of twelve. When he was sent home, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. The Importance Of Cathedrals In David Macaulay s Cathedral Stories about architecture are stories about people, said David Macaulay, author of Cathedral (4). The intention of cathedrals was to draw people, and in turn inspire those who came to pray, learn, and worship (Macaulay, Cathedral 4). Cathedrals remain inspirational in their enormous scale and overpowering beauty, and that these places of worship are still standing after many centuries show a level of determination and integrity in those that built the edifices (Macaulay, Cathedral 4). Architect Vitruvius wrote, All the buildings have two components: The building itself and an idea that its architecture tried to express (McNamara 6). People build churches because they believed in something (McNamara 6). In David Macaulay s book, Built to Last, he says the mindset behind building cathedrals was that of honor and dedication. Macaulay s research noted that, The new cathedral would be built to the glory of God, and it mattered little that it might take more than one hundred years to construct it (Macaulay, Built to Last 98). However, there is more to cathedrals than just building something grand and beautiful to honor God. Churches and cathedrals were built to be packed with meaning (Taylor 1), and were used to illustrate key points of Christian teaching through the use of imagery (Taylor 5). Cathedrals were a place to immerse individuals in worship. Religious parents encourage their children to pray, take them to church and to religious events (Newberg and ... • 4. In Addition To Saving And Bequest Channels, The Proposed In addition to saving and bequest channels, the proposed model in this paper identifies two additional channel of child labor. These are heterogeneity in child s ability, which causes heterogeneity in the cost of education, and differential future expectation of parents depending on their socio economic background. I attempt to capture these four channels using a number of variables. For saving, I use income of household head and for bequest, I use whether the household owns any house. Here income of household head may be under reported or may have some types of measurement errors, so, we use several other variables to instrument it. Ownership of a house is used to capture bequest as housing price is very high almost across the country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, the socio economic group in which the household head belongs to is also crucial in forming household head s expectation. Thus, I use household head s gender ($Head_female$), Household head s sector of employment ($Sector$), religion of household head ($Religion$), and the location of household ($Urban$). Using these variables I estimate the following models: Where $y$ is child s working hours per day, $ extbf{X}={Urban, Sector, Female, Head_literacy, Religion, House,$ $ Head_income, Head_female, Dropout_ability, Dropout_cost, Dropout_income}$, $ extbf{Z}= {Urban, Head _sector,$ $ Female, Head _literacy, House, Land, Num _hhchld, Head _literacy, Head_age, Dropout_ability,$ $Dropout_cost, Religion, Dropout_income, TV, Head_female}$, $Q_{N}(eta) = g_{N}(eta) W_{N}g_{N}(eta)$, $g_{N}(eta)=frac{1}{N} sum_{i=1}^{N}Z epsilon$, and $W$ is a $N imes N$ positive semi definite matrix. In addition, I also estimate logit and probit model of child labor, where I attempt to estimate the probabilities of being a child labor with respect to the variables mentioned above. Results of these models are shown in the following table: In the above table second column reports the OLS estimates. • 5. Julius Caesar Comradery The strength of a comradery is put to the test in the tragic play, Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. Brutus, an honorable Roman, and Cassius, a man with questionable motives, come together against the Roman army after assassinating Julius Caesar. In the early parts of the play, these two men seem to work well together, however as the story progresses, the conspirators reveal their true colors which leads to their defeat. Although Brutus and Cassius lost the war and their lives in the original story, by having the two stick together and focus on what is important, they would pose an unstoppable force to the Romans thus saving both their lives. The first instance of Brutus and Cassius drift apart is in act four, scene two. The two revolutionaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This ghost is actually the manifestation of Brutus doubt and guilt, which is why Caesar says, thou shalt see me at Philippi, signifying that Brutus is not completely certain that his choice to advance to Philippi is the best decision to make (4.3.327). In the author s plays, whenever a character sees a ghost, it foreshadows their death later in the story. Brutus becomes fearful of this, and selfishly puts his life above everyone else s. Without thinking, Brutus orders his servants to Bid [Cassius] set on his powers betimes before [us]..., which divided and weakened their army as a whole (4.3.353). Sending Cassius off without the help of Brutus army is a futile strategy, and he is aware of that. Brutus knows the strength of the Roman army but still sends Cassius group after them to preserve his own life. This shows that after their previous argument, Brutus does not really care about Cassius anymore despite his farewell to him in act five. Economic Growth And Saudi Arabia Economic Growth in Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia has an economy that is largely dependent on oil, with the government maintaining the biggest control over the country s significant economic activities. Saudi Arabia owns about 16% of the global oil reserves and is the number one exporter of oil (Saudi Arabia, 2013). In addition, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was instrumental in the formation of the OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) group, which initially comprised Iraq, Venezuela, Iran, Kuwait and Venezuela (Energy indicators, 2004). Currently, the petroleum industry constitutes about 80% of the country s budgetary incomes; about 40% of the country s GDP and 87% of Saudi s export earnings. Agriculture, in addition to petroleum products, has been a major contributor to the kingdom s economy since 1970s (Saudi Arabia, 2013). The country has been able to produce enough agricultural products for their consumption as well as surplus for exportation to the GCC member countries. Saudi s Pattern of Economic Growth Initially, Saudi Arabia was largely a subsistence economy, gaining its revenues from subsistence agriculture and sale of natural resources. The Saudi population was highly dependent on subsistence farming and was very poor, given that climatic conditions in Saudi Arabia are not favourable for food production. When compared to our neighboring cities and counties our death rate is significantly higher. While both local and state governments have enforced many different regulations to combat air pollution. Point Sources of Air Pollution A major source of air pollution in Los Angeles is diesel engines. The second significant point source for air pollution is wildfires. In 2017 alone, there were 7,117 fires across the entire state of California which burned a total of 505,956 acres (CAL FIRE, 2018). Twenty nine of these fires took place in Southern California in December. The Thomas Fire was the largest in State history. It burned a total of 281,620 acres. • 10. Alprazolam One example of a type of benzodiazepine is alprazolam. Alprazolam is a scientifically proven effective benzodiazepine for generalized anxiety disorders and panic disorders (Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013). It is short acting and highly potent, with an elimination half life of 6.3 to 26.9 hours (Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013). Due to its short elimination half life, a prevalent issue found with alprazolam is that high levels of anxiety occur abruptly after discontinuing the drug (Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013). It belongs in the triazolo subgroup of benzodiazepines, as it has a triazolo ring at the 1,2 position, and a carbon chain attached to it (Maddison, Page, Church , 2008). The triazolo ring is a five membered ring made up of three nitrogen and two carbon atoms. There are also two double bonds present. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of benzodiazepine is readily absorbed in the body, with peak concentrations times in the plasma of around one to two hours after administration (Xanax, 2014). The presence of an OH group make compounds less lipophilic and thus are absorbed slower (Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013). Since there isn t any OH group attached to alprazolam, it is a high protein bound agent (80%), and has a fast absorption rate and onset of action (Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013). • 12. Figurative Language Used In The Beauty Poem Analysis 5. There are many poetic devices and figurative language used in both poems. In the innocence poem the Nurse s song we see a metaphor when the nurse says, My heart is at rest within my breast , meaning that the nurse is content and filled with peace and joy while watching the children at play. Imagery and symbolism is used in both poems with the color green which associates with growth, fertility and spring. (Represent places of play and freedom) Also, in the Innocence poem, imagery is used when said, Besides in the sky, the little birds fly and the hills are all covered with sheep . These creatures are gentle just like the children are and the birds in particular are symbolic of freedom. In the experience poem the word night , metaphorically represents danger and sadness. (completely opposite of the innocence where light was used to positively portray the children). In the experience poem the Nanny makes a metaphor when she says, My face turns green and pale , the notes on the back of the book explain how this means that the Nurse is a sex starved spinster. Meaning that she is a woman who did not experience a happy youth, and who is sick for the longings of experience, and who is maybe jealous of the children. The poetic devices and figurative language impact the whole meaning of the poem completely, because without the multiple metaphors and imagery used I would of never of guessed that the Nurses green and pale face meant what it meant. They were also used as markers between territories. Stelas usually feature some sort of decoration and are carved in relief, either raised or sunken. Paint also was incorporated in some of these stelas and often featured hieroglyphics detailing the scene. In Egypt these stelas were primarily used as funerary ornaments, very much resembling tombstones. Historians suggest that these stelas might have been placed on the outside of funerary complex while others suggest that they may have been used to roof the structure. Although many theories exist, it is pretty much commonly agreed that these stelas did not exist within the tombs walls during this time. Abydos becomes an important location during Ancient Egyptian history. The end of the Old Kingdom saw the city of Abydos as the center for Osiris. We see Abydos becoming the destination for pilgrimages and the site for annual festivities. Looking specifically at the stelas at Abydos we see that they are smaller in size and lack the artistic preciseness we see in later funerary complexes. The stelas at Abydos were set up in pairs though and do not feature the rounded top that we identify with the first and second dynasties. These stelas depict the tomb owner and are inscribed with their title and name. How long would it take to drive across Colorado if you are constantly changing speeds? All of these questions can now be answered, largely impart because of the great English philosopher, Sir Isaac Newton. In a time where religion was at war with science, Isaac Newton opened up people s minds to theories and reason. Isaac Newton was to be the starburst of the Enlightenment. He became the foundation of enlightened thought. It was the 17th century, the time of the Scientific Revolution. But how was he to figure out where the object would be if it constantly sped up or slowed down? Where would the object be if it traveled around curves? This is the concept of calculus. Using his knowledge of algebra, Newton set out to find the value of an unknown number that kept changing. He did this by figuring out that the integration of a function was simply the inverse of differentiating it. Newton had just developed a method for finding changing and flowing quantities (Margaret, 42). He had just invented calculus. Newton went even further after this. With the use of calculus, he was able to find the area under an open curve known as a hyperbola. He went on to take this answer to 52 decimal places (Margaret, 47). While Isaac Newton was very satisfied with these results, he had other things on his mind, and he continued to amaze the world. Following his work in calculus, Isaac Newton hardly broke stride. He continued his studies and experiments on lights and colors. In 1665, Newton performed a number of experiments on the composition of light. With his first experiment, Newton bought a prism. He then closed all the curtains so that he was in a darkened room. After the room was dark, he proceeded to let a small stream of light pass through his window shuts and he noticed that the prism broke up the white light ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A YouGov survey of about 1,000 people says that 45% of people believe that ghosts or spirits of the dead can come back and interact with us. It kind of sounds crazy to believe that people can stick around after they die and even interact with objects in our world, but so many people swear they have encountered something that they can t explain. I ve always grew up really skeptical of these things. The Idea that spirits stick around with us after death is an ancient one, and is incorporated into countless literature, from the Bible to Macbeth . It has inspired so many different kinds of media like horror movies, ghost stories, and tv shows. I grew up watching some of these things, and the question always remained in my head: Are ghosts real? I really wanted to answer that in this senior project. I think I finally have a good answer that I m going to stick with. Ghost hunting dates back to the 18th century. Groups like the Society for Psychical Research were some of the first Ghost Hunters . • 19. Achieving Inclusion In Education Inclusion is the provision of strategies and resources to ensure all children are given the opportunity to reach their full potential irrespective of ethnicity, religious belief, gender, sexual orientation or disability (Dean, 2006; Department for Education (DfE), 2013). To attain inclusion, individuals must be enabled to fully participate in mainstream activities and to be valued and accepted within the school community (Coyle, 2011). However, Barnard, Prior, and Potter (2000) acknowledge that the process of inclusive education can prove challenging (Coyle, 2011; Simpson and De Boer, 2009; Humphrey, 2008). Under the 1944 Education Act, children with special educational needs were arranged according to their medical condition (House of Commons, 2006). Many children were considered to be uneducable in mainstream settings and were considered to be mentally retarded , maladjusted or sub normal (House of Commons, 2006). Pupils with SEN were often sent to special schools and taught practical skills as an alternative to standard education (Bateman, Lloyd and Tankersley, 2015). The Warnock Report in 1978, followed by the 1981 Education Act, introduced the idea of special educational needs (SEN), statements, and an inclusive approach to education (House of Commons, 2006). ... You need to watch out where you are walking, try to avoid the mud on your shoes. It is always wet and muddy. You need also to be careful, people throw their waste into the streets. The odor, as you can imagine, is unbearable. This city is poor and miserable. Macondo (Colombia) is a hot, humid little town lost somewhere in the Colombian coast. The reader and the text make possible to construct multiple layers of reality. Rosenblatt states: literature especially invites confusion about its relation with reality (p. 33); thus, the pretended reality of the text only emerges when the reader makes it real. Text reality is not just related to the tangible world, but it is related to the realities constructed in the mind of the reader. It is not uncommon, for example, to see children creating realities in their minds when they read. It has been more than once that I have seen my own children to mimic the voices of the characters of the text. How can they mimic a sound that is not audible? This only could be explained through Rosenblatt s framework of the transactional process of reading. Rosenblatt philosophy of reading has made possible, for those who belief that reading is much more than the processing of printed words, to understand the reader s position as the center of the transaction, and create around him/her a truly supportive literacy system, not just to be able to decode printed symbols, but also to construct the meaning of texts. I am sure that I was provided this literary context in the form of accessing to books and caring of my reading practices; otherwise, I am afraid, my love for reading would have disappeared as the years ... • 21. The Idea Of Social Entrepreneurship On the idea of social entrepreneurship The idea of social entrepreneurship implies diverse things to various individuals and analysts (Dees, 1998). One gathering of scientists alludes to social enterprise as not revenue driven activities looking for option financing methodologies, or administration plans to make social worth (Austin, Stevenson, and Wei Skiller, 2003; Boschee, 1998). A second gathering of analysts comprehends it as the socially mindful routine of business organizations occupied with cross area associations (Sagawa and Segal, 2000; Waddock, 1988). Also, a third gathering sees social business as a way to reduce social issues and catalyze social change (Alvord et al., 2004). It is vital to take note of the theoretical contrasts between definitions. Meanings of social entrepreneurship normally allude to a procedure or conduct; meanings of social entrepreneurship people center rather on the author of the activity; and meanings of social endeavors allude to the unmistakable result of social enterprise. In spite of the huge number of definitions, precise endeavors to guide activities and definitions are uncommon (see Boschee (1995) and Waddock and Post (1995), for two exemptions). While integral definitions, every concentrating on various parts of the wonder, are not as a matter of course a hindrance in the quest for hypothesis, despite everything we don t have a complete photo of the marvel and do not have an unmistakable comprehension of how social business ... From that point of view it seems that finance and good society are like an oxymoron, finance goals are contradicting with those of society. At the end of each year when financial statements are verified by the auditors, the company management is facing the dilemma: what to do with the profit? The dilemma is related with the question whether to please shareholders by giving them large dividends or to keep the money in the company for investment purposes. This decision however does lie exclusively in the hands of the company management. If they decide large dividends, then the funds needed for investments and growth will be reduced significantly. This may jeopardize the company s competitive position without investments, the company s future is always at stake. 2.2. If the company s shareholders decide to vote small dividends then the management will have more funds for investments. As a rule companies approve those projects that have a positive net present value and the rate of return is higher than the hurdle rate. 2.3. If company profit is not sufficient to cover the investment plans, then the company has to start looking for external financing in order to fulfil its investment program. Carol Paden author of Inside Deaf Culture defines a culture as a group of people that share language, values, rules of behavior, and traditions. The Deaf culture is unlike any other culture seen before and it differentiates from the typical American culture in many ways. The difference of this culture that makes them special is that they are a culture that has not been passed by residence, nationality, or percentage. They are a minority but they are not defined as a minority group. The Deaf defiantly don t have as many privileges as the hearing culture such as being heard and often being underestimated and discriminated for their disability. When examining the Deaf culture the idea of family has deep roots of communication, support, advocacy and self identity. Not every person who is deaf or hard of hearing is part of the Deaf term, which excludes him or her from the Deaf culture. Holcomb, Author of Introduction to American Deaf culture states that the term Deaf refers to an individual who uses ASL, identifies as a member of Deaf culture, and ... • 40. My Cultural Identity In Remember The Titans What is cultural identity? What is my cultural identity? We can go into my mind to see what we can find. I am a calm, easygoing, relaxed, athletic, and a somewhat independent latin american person. I believe this because I am easy to get along with, I sometimes want to do things on my own, and I exercise and play sports. Since I am latin, I have to speak spanish at home or around my family, but I speak english outside of home. My parents don t speak english, so they use me as a translator wherever we go. This is a somewhat representation of my cultural identity. We will find out the rest of my cultural identity with a representation of my rosary, watching Remember the Titans, having some food. My favorite movie is Remember the Titans. It is a sports and drama movie, directed by Boaz Yakin, which also directed other films like Max, and Safe. Denzel Washington and Will Patton star in the film as the coaches of the football team. The message is to never judge a book by its cover. In Virginia high school football is a way of life, it s celebrated like a National holiday. In 1971 high school football was everything to the people of Alexandria, Virginia. Until in 1971 the local school board was forced to integrate an all black schools and an all white the district, the foundation of football s great tradition was put to the test. • 41. Reflection About Vanity I lean my head towards the window, my eyes desperately following the painted signs and the road. My mother, who has an ability to drive for long periods of time, and I are on my way to my aunt s house. As we drove my mind would envision the hours of hopscotch and jump rope with an old friend. An hour or two later my mom and I would make it to her apartment complex in St. Cloud, Minnesota. As my aunt and my mother conversate about our family and upcoming events, I would make my way to the parking lot to find a young girl, who had short brown hair and LOTS of toys. I would always come over to my aunt s apartment and find this young girl outside. As we would play one of us would accidentally mention that our mothers had told us we were the prettiest girls in the world. We started to argue on which one of us was prettier than the other. How can little girls who were best friends, all of a sudden be arguing about vanity? Little did I know, that the buoyant world I had lived in for all these years would take a turn for the worst and expose me to the prejudice that can inhabit peoples hearts. As I made my way down the hall, my mother gripping my hand tightly, I excitedly make my way to Mrs. Schmidt s kindergarten classroom. Kindergarten was the only time in my life when I was friends with everyone. When people are that young they don t even notice if someone is odd or different, if they are a living being they don t mind playing a game of duck duck goose with them. As I ... • 44. Rupert Brookes Dulce Et Decorum Est World War 1 was known as the Great War. Many soldiers fought and many soldiers died. In the soldier by Rupert Brookes he tries to influence the reader into thinking that going to war is a good thing, whereas in Dulce et Decorum Est, Wilfred Owens describes war as what it really is. Fear, and horror. He tries to influence the reader that war is not a good thing and it s not worth risking your life for. In this essay I will argue how both Brookes and Owens did very good jobs of influencing peoples opinions on the Great War. Rupert Brookes portrays war as being a great service to your family and country. He implies that even if you die, you will live on both in the real world and the afterlife. This is shown in the quote Washed by the rivers, blest by the suns of home . This seems to describes a sort baptism almost. It s as if you re being reborn into the afterlife, a new man.
