 Selection is the process of choosing qualified individuals who are available to fill
the positions in organization.

 It is a structured interview in which questions are standardized. It consist basic details of the
candidates. Such as:
1. Age and gender
2. Marital Status
3. Height and weight
4. Education details

2.Preliminary interview
 On the basis of application blank form, candidates are selected for the first
interview.
 It is necessary when a large number of candidates apply for a single job.

5. Reference checking
 Conducting reference checks can be one of the most important steps in the
selection process.
 Many employers check references as part of the hiring process.
 A reference check is when an employer contacts a job applicant's previous
employers, schools, colleges, and other sources to learn more about his or her
employment history, educational background, and qualifications for a job.

6. Medical examination
 It is required to eliminating candidates to suffer from the health problems which
might affect his attendance in the work place.
 In the government and semi government organizations getting medically examined
is a must before reporting for duty or at the time of duty.

7. Decision making

• Decide which candidate to select based on the results of the tests and interview.
• Send notice to the candidates being selected.
• Inform the line managers to prepare for orientation and training for the new
employees.
8. INDUCTION
 After selecting the candidate, INDUCTION is provided to the candidate.
The major objectives of INDUCTION are:
a. Familiarizing the new employee with this new surrounding,
company policy, rules and regulations, structure etc.
b. Integrating his personal goals with organizational goals.
