RESEARCH
AVATARS OF MY TARGET AUDIENCE
I envision my target audience to be comprised of
people who are middle aged and who used to be into
the Britpop movement. Back then, they used to wear
the same fashion that went with the genre such as A-
line skirts for women and mod-cut suits for men. Now,
they make more professional and grown up fashion
choices but still feel nostalgic towards the era that
Britpop originated from. This can all be backed up and
evidenced in my target genre research as shown on
previous slides.
WHAT MY TARGET AUDIENCE WILL
WEAR, FURTHER DISCUSSED
• Upon completing my primary research, I discovered that my main target
audience will most likely be middle-aged people who were teenagers
during the Britpop movement and influenced by the music.
• Due to their age, the majority of my target audience are likely to have
children. Therefore, they will most likely have had to have given up their
Britpop fashion styles for more practical clothing such as t shirts and
jeans in order to accommodate their lifestyles.
• However, the Britpop movement was very influential and most of my
target audience would most likely feel nostalgic towards it (as I
discovered in my primary research) which could mean that they would
still listen to the music or own record players and still own all of their old
records.
HOW I WILL USE THESE IDEAS IN MY
MUSIC VIDEO
• Part of the narrative of my music video involves cutting from past to
present. My protagonist represents a member of society at the time of
the Britpop era and I will emulate his change in age through dress
codes.
• In order to do this, I intend to have him and the people at the present
day party wearing similar clothes to the ones that the Britpop generation
would realistically wear now in their adult years.
• This will not only mirror how that generation has grown up, but it will
also add a nostalgic feel to the video which correlates with my data
collection where 100% of the 30+ age group said this music made them
feel nostalgic.
MAKING SURE THAT I USE THIS
RESEARCH IN MY VIDEO..
• In order to organise my cast and to give them details and dates of
filming, I decided to make a Facebook event where all he information
could be in one place. On this, I posted photos of examples of costumes
so that people would be wearing clothes that mirror the clothing of the
target audience and that also adhere to the data I collected about my
target audience.
