1. I asked 20 participants to fill out
my questionnaire. After collecting
the results I have analysed the
results and produced stats using
visual diagrams
3. QUESTION 1 – ANALYSIS
As my results show , the majority of my target audience are 45+. I will be
producing my music video to appeal to the majority of my target
audience. However the other larger proportion of my audience are under
18. This suggests that fans of The Doors may be under 18 and will enjoy
other music related to the genre of The Doors.
There for when I am going conduct my focus group I will be using
audiences of different age groups. This will enable me to understand
the nature of my target audience, whilst also discovering my target
audiences opinions and interests.
After analysing the stats, it is obvious that I am appealing to a wide target
audience, who may be interested in the same genre of music .
5. QUESTION 2 - GENDER
Due to the feedback received it is clear that my target audiences are mixed,
however mostly male populated. From the evidence of the diagram, it is
clear that my target audience genre is mostly a mixed genre. Therefor
when conducted focus groups I will be using a mixture of men and
women.
6. QUESTION 3 – WHAT FEATURES/CONVENTIONS
DO YOU EXPECT TO SEE IN A ROCK MUSIC
VIDEO?
From my findings, my target audience said that they liked to see social
realism subjects as a typical convention of music videos. Some
suggested that they would like to see a ‘controversial story line.
However others suggested typical conventions such as, ‘boys with
greasy hair’, ‘dark room indoors’, ‘live performance’, ‘crazy guitars’ and
‘lip syncing performance pieces’.
Taking into account this feedback, I have decided that I am going to try to
incorporate performance pieces into my music video, along with my
own controversial subject.

From the results I have picked out the top 10
bands that reoccurred through out the
feedback of my questionnaires. It is evident
that the majority of the bands listened to are
of an Indie/Rock genre.

APPEAL TO YOU THE MOST?
50% of feedback prefer music videos to be both narrative and performance.
Suggesting that this is the preferred opinion of my target audience,
when planning my music video I will take into consideration the
opinions of my target audience, for my music video to appeal to my
target audience.
Other participants preferred narrative style music videos, as I have already
gathered from the results of question 3, that my target audience would
prefer to see a music video with a deeper meaning, that relates to
todays society. As I Would like to base my music video on outcasts in
society this follows the opinion of my target audience, suggesting that
the concept of my music video will be successful and appeal to the
viewers.
