EVALUATION - Who would be the
audience for your media product? How
did you attract/address your audience?
Demographics of my target
audience
• Gender- female
• Age- 11-25
• Social class-D/E
• Ethnicity- British
How did the genre of your music
magazine attract them?
• The genre of my music magazine is pop, which
is a very popular genre of music with young
girls in the 21st century. So many big
boybands, for example, One Direction are
within the genre of pop so makes this style of
magazine very good for a younger audience.
What images did you take, use and
then edit to attract your target
audience?
• The images that I took for my magazine were not in any
way extravagant; my model was wearing regular
clothes that any young girl would be able to wear. I
think this attracts more people because it gives them
the idea that they can be like the “pop stars” and wear
the same things as them. The props that i used were all
linked to music e.g. microphone, guitar etc. Some of
the edits I did on these images were to enhance the
colours on either her outfit or the blue in the guitar.
This makes the image stand out more and makes it
look more professional and appealing to the audience.
How did your choice of models
conform/subvert stereotypes of the
music genre that you chose?
• The choice of model did conform to the
stereotype of a pop magazine because it was
an image of a young, pretty girl, with makeup
on looking smiley. This is the type of image
that I saw a lot when doing research into
these magazines, more so on kids pop
magazines but also on older ones too.
How does your cover lines and main
double page spread story attract your
audience?
• The cover lines on my magazine have the
reader wanting more. By the using the term
“exclusive interview” it lets people know that
this is the only place they’re going to find this
so it gives them more of an incentive to
purchase the magazine, especially if they are a
big fan of the particular artist. My double page
spread includes a play of words in the
headline, using Olly Murs’ album title as part
of the headline.
