Essay On Implication Of JK-STAT
Implications of JAK STAT in disease
So far, we have seen that this pathway is accountable for the transduction of extracellular stimulus into
transcriptional factors that regulate several cellular functions. STATs are also known to exert
additional functions such as affecting oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria, regulating chromatin
compliance and epigenetic markings in the nucleus and interacting with the microtubule components
in the cytoplasm which are responsible for cellular motility (4). This pathway has been observed to
play an integral role in the development of mammary gland, stem cells, lymphocytes, neuronal cells,
eye cells, cardiomyocytes, adipocytes. Consequently, its dysregulation induces various diseases,
including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
STATs contribute significantly to cellular fate decisions of differentiating naïve T cells into regulatory
and inflammatory T cells, lymphocyte development, and exercise control over the intensity and
duration of inflammatory responses. STAT3 particularly is involved in the regulation of cell death, cell
growth and in the transcription of inflammatory genes. This serves as the basis for its contribution to
the development of chronic inflammatory diseases and neurodegenerative diseases (8).
This pathway has been associated with several monogenic diseases like the bubble boy syndrome (X
linked severe combined immunodeficiency). The extreme susceptibility to pathogens observed is
caused by a lack of T and NK cells, which occurs due to loss of function variants of the common γ
chain signal transduction. A subset of SCID patients demonstrated mutations in Jak3 kinase specifying
the non redundant in vivo functions for any JAK/STAT component (9). After the initial discovery of
JAK3 SCID, many Mendelian disorders were reported. Discoveries made in the past three decades
help us to correlate loss of function STAT mutations with specific types of pathogens. STAT1
mutations make patients vulnerable to viral and mycobacterial infections, whereas patients having
STAT2 mutations are prone to viral infections and fungal infections are most common in patients with
STAT3 mutations (2).
The last 20 years have brought to the fore remarkable connections between JAK STAT

Essay on The Secrets to Be Innovative
Innovation is the process of changing something to make it better. To innovate a product is to
modernise it so as to suit the people living in the current generation. Lots of ideas need to be generated
in order to innovate. Innovation has no age restrictions. As long as you still have a pair of hand and
feet with a good working brain, innovation can take place anywhere and at any time.
IDEO was founded by David Kelley in Palo Alto, California, in 1991. He and his team works
tirelessly everyday innovating and creating new ideas. IDEO designs about 90 new products every
year. Apart from creating new products, IDEO can take any existing random product from the market
and redesign it to make it better.

Sticking firm to their mottos only have one conversation at a time, stay focus throughout the project,

generate wild ideas easily in a short span of time. One important thing which they never do is to
criticise on one another s idea. They believe that any idea is important as it would help them to take
off from scratch.
Although the people in IDEO are not chefs, they do have their own special recipe recipe for
innovation. They work for long hours every day making full use of every single second of every single

who don t. The people in IDEO are all open minded. From the bosses to the eclectics, every single one
of them are impartial towards new ideas. Being able to accept new ideas would make a person much
wiser and knowledgeable and hence lead to greater productivity. Working with a boss who demands
for fresh ideas would constantly train the staffs to be able to come up with ideas quickly. For example,
if a lecturer constantly makes the students practise using a certain formula (eg. e=mc2) repeatedly,
they probably would have mastered on the application

The Glass Castle Some Characters Seek Freedom From Society...
In The Glass Castle some characters seek freedom from society s rules while others seek the comforts
and security that come from a normal life. What is more important to children? Freedom or security? I
am convinced that what matters most to children is security. They may seek freedom but to them
freedom means running around. However, running around leads to chaos. Then chaos can lead to
danger and when children feel endangered or they ve fallen and got hurt they seek safety. Even if they
live in a stable or peaceful household they want to feel safe and secure and, especially children living
how Jeannette and her siblings did, want security.
There are millions of children all over the world who live in poverty and are unprotected from the
outside world that surrounds them. Most children who live in Bangladesh are in poverty and have
basic material needs that must be met in order to ensure child safety. But since those needs are not met
the child abandons their family and moves on doing drugs, committing crimes and living in the street.
This is exactly what happened to Maureen Walls in The Glass Castle. Her needs were scarcely met in
the Walls household so she spent a lot of time with other families and they practically took her up as
their surrogate daughter. In final consideration to this situation, by the end of the story we found out
that Maureen turned into a drug addict and smoker who hated her family, just like the children in
Bangladesh. Even Lori said so

Pathetic Fallacy In The Great Gatsby
The Great Pathetic Fallacy Smiling in the sunshine or seething in a storm, setting is simply a stirring
way to set a scene and scrupulously supply significance to a story. In F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great
Gatsby, it s easy to understand the atmosphere during important events such as Daisy and Gatsby s
reunion and when Tom confronts Gatsby, this is because of pathetic fallacy. The Great Gatsby uses the
weather to show and emphasise the emotions of the characters allowing the reader to interpret the plot
and mood of important events thoroughly. The weather varies and changes often during Daisy and
Gatsby s reunion, allowing the reader to effectively read the situation and follow the intense emotions
both Daisy and Gatsby are feeling. When Nick invites Daisy to his house as a favor to Gatsby, he
opens the door to Gatsby and states,
Gatsby, pale as death, with his hands plunged like weights in his coat pockets, was standing in a
puddle of water glaring tragically into my eyes. With his hands still in his coat pockets he stalked by
me into the hall, turned sharply as if he were on a wire, and disappeared into the living−room... Aware
of the loud beating of my own heart I pulled the door to against the increasing rain. (Fitzgerald 45)
The increasing rain shows the increasing anxiety Gatsby, and perhaps Nick feels in this situation and
Gatsby standing in the puddle of water shows how his anxiousness is engulfing him. The use of
pathetic fallacy here shows how much Gatsby cares about how this meeting with Daisy will go and
that he fears of a bad reaction to him suddenly appearing. Daisy and Gatsby talk for a while,
afterwards, Nick brings up the weather,
It s stopped raining. Has it? When he realized what I was talking about, that there were twinkle−bells
of sunshine in the room, he smiled like a weather man, like an ecstatic patron of recurrent light, and
repeated the news to Daisy. What do you think of that? It s stopped raining. I m glad, Jay. Her throat,
full of aching, grieving beauty, told only of her unexpected joy (47)
The end of the rain signifies the end of Gatsby s and Daisy s worries, and exhibits their newfound joy.
The pair bond over the now clear skies, or their lack of inhibitions and

The New World s Tempest

Dr. Frank Brevik
The New World s Tempest The Tempest is a Shakespearean play that takes play on a desert island
somewhere between Tunis and Naples. A hazardous storm appears impacting a ship of European
nobles and mariners; on board are Alonso, King of Naples, Gonzalo, Boatswain, Trinculo, Stefano,
Antonio, Sebastian, and Ferdinand. The nobles are leaving Tunis, Africa after the wedding of Claribel,
daughter of the King of Naples to the prince. Prospero, the former Duke of Milan uses his sorcery to
conjure the very storm that bombards the nobles in order to bring them to the island. Frey interjects, In
1808, Edmond Malone argued that Shakespeare derived the title and some of the play s incidents from
accounts of a storm and shipwreck experienced by Sir Thomas Gates and other Jamestown colonists
on the Bermuda islands in 1609 (Frey 29).The play entails the romance of Ferdinand, Alonso s son
and Miranda, Prospero s daughter; while also detailing a twelve year power struggle that is resurfacing
itself in a treacherous plot for power. In comparison to the New World s politics, The Tempest can be
read as a play that deals with these same political issues: rebellion of constituted authorities,
colonization of a new land, dehumanizing of the natives, marriages and romances of royalty, masters
and servants, Christian virtues, and visions of a utopia.
In the New World, there is a balance of power and a struggle to maintain this balance

Advertising For Advertising
How much are ads part of everyday life? The New York Times recorded a study by Yankelovich, a
market research firm, and they estimated that people living in a city see up to 5,000 or more
advertisements a day. By the same token, children are heavily exposed to advertising, and most of the
ads today are directed right at them. Advertising to children is a big part of the market today.
Therefore, advertisers should not market to children because it is unethical. It can influence children s
behavior in a negative fashion, and markets can exploit children, and can use the media to reach
children at young ages even though they are not able to understand its intent. Ads can influence and
affect a child s behavior. With this in mind, marketers tapped into the children s market and figured it
would boost their revenue. It all starts when a child is very young. According to the article How
Marketers Target Kids children at six months of age can form mental images of corporate logos and
mascots. Brand loyalties can be established as early as age two... Not to mention, marketers will create
campaign ads so children will use pestering behavior to get a certain product, which starts at a young
age as well ( How Marketers Target Kids ). Marketers want children to be bothersome whenever they
want something and to continue this behavior. To emphasize this fact YTV Kids and Tweens Report in
2008 found results saying kids have almost 100% control when choosing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and

The Problems Of Philosophy By Bertrand Russell, Ayn Rand,...
While the use and understanding of philosophy goes widely unknown by a majority of the population
today, a selective few have recognized its potential and utilized it to its fullest. In the following essay,
three prominent philosophers; Bertrand Russell, Ayn Rand, and Christopher Hitchens. Each gives their
insight to three important topics; the value of philosophy, using philosophy and its value, and the
importance of freedom of speech. All of whom will be discussed, and agreement or disagreement will
also be concluded and supported.

While it is clear that Bertrand Russell wished for the continuation of the practice of philosophy, he
acknowledges most people have no idea what philosophy is, outside of the idea of a group of people
thinking about life. With this writing while giving some of the products that have come from
philosophy, he also warns that not all answers can be gained from the philosophy. While definite
answers can be gained through the sciences, philosophic study only raises more uncertainty.
Bertrand Russell supports his arguments with insight that comes from teaching, practicing, and seeing
the effects of philosophy both within himself and the people around him. While studying philosophy
Russell will only intensify the uncertainty about the world around us and the inner workings of our
mind. Likewise in support of Russell s argument, the study of sciences that is aforementioned such as;
Phycology, Astronomy, and Physics which were originally pondered by philosophers has moved from
philosophical theory to scientific study.
Likewise with the pursuit and study of philosophy, the likelihood of the student holding on to the
dogmatism, and predigests that is set forth by society and past experiences. Along with this the
aforementioned Practical Man Russell supports his argument with a description, The practical man
who recognizes only material needs, who realizes men must have food for the body, but is

The Female Victims Are Invisible
I believe that the female victims are invisible. From the different events that I have seen growing up in
the neighbor hoods that I have been in as well as what the media presents I can strongly believe in that
statement. I can say that I have seen attempts where community and even families have tried to come
together and make a stand but it has never had enough power to where female victims have a strong
voice and to get attention or awareness they needed. When I originally saw this question the first thing
that came to my mind is a situation that I saw and heard as a kid. I can remember going over to my
grandmother s house and when I would spend the night I could hear the couple next door arguing and
even hitting each other , and I could remember waking up and telling my grandmother we have to do
something . She looked at me and said I have spoken to her and called the cops a lot of times baby. No
one is doing anything about it . From that moment on when I think or even hear of female women
victims there is no real standard being put into place for a significant change.
Reading through chapter 6 over the theories and views that have been towards female victims over the
period of years I still see the female victims are still in silence, covering, hiding, in fear and invisible.
There are attempts, regulations, and studies put into place as the years go on who see these women
and even some who have interacted and tried to help, but from my view and being a women they are

10 Things I Hate About You Vs Taming Of The Shrew

Compare and Contrast essay
The movie 10 Things I Hate About you is based on Shakespeare s Taming of the Shrew. Specifically,
The 10 Things I Hate About You is a modern version of Shakespeare s 16th century play. In order to
make a modern version of this play, the author of the movie had to incorporate both similarities and
differences. Although the Taming of the Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You has several
differences, they are very similar in many ways.
The movie and the play are made in two different time periods. Since the movie is in a more recent
time period, the clothes worn by the characters in the movie are more modern. The clothes in the play
are more elegant and reflect the 16th century era.

Essay Slaves will be Slaves
Petronius Arbiter, in Trimalchio s Dinner Party, the third chapter of his book Satyricon, mocks the
nature of slaves. He was a top official in Rome, namely the quot;Judge of Taste quot; in Nero s court
(129). Regardless of the responsibilities he had, he was an aristocrat. The history of Rome was written
from an aristocratic perspective because they were the ones who had the money, ambition and free
time to document history. Petronius believed that slaves are low class, and that a slave that has been
set free, id est a freedmen, is still a slave at heart, ergo worthless. Not with all the money in the world
could he develop the taste of the upper class. In ancient and modern times alike, money cannot buy a
good personality or social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is a social outcast in Roman culture because he was sodomized, however he rationalizes that
quot;it s okay if your master makes you do it quot; (146). He uses language that a blacksmith might
use (23). His wife was a prostitute before he bought her freedom. For the cultured Roman, it would be
repulsive to even take bread from her hand, let alone marry her (26).
Some very sublime, perhaps debatable evidence of the thesis is presented by Petronius using a
metaphor to express his view that a slave will always be a slave. If a slave is freed, he s still the same
person, a low life. Petronius writes a scene where a boar wearing the hat of a freedman is brought into
the dining room. It was supposed to be the dinner for the previous night but they quot;set him free
quot; (29). However, a free boar is still a boar, and now he is dinner. The hat changes nothing.
Petronius asserts his personal belief that slaves will be slaves no matter what changes on the outside,
they will always be slaves on the inside.
From the viewpoint of the aristocracy, merchants were generally considered to be of a very low class.
Trimalchio, which ironically means quot;prince quot; in Hebrew (18), gained his freedom because he
was an accountant and the sexual servant to both the master and the mistress of the household. He
inherited money and freedom when his master died. He amassed great wealth by using that money in

Introduction:
The C S H gel is the most abundant reaction product in cement, occupying about half of the paste
volume, it is also responsible for most of the properties of cement paste. This is just not because it is a
strong or stable phase but because it forms a continuous layer that binds the cement particles together.
All the other hydration products of cement form discrete crystals that are naturally strong but do not
have good connections to the solid phases they are in contact with hence cannot contribute much to
the overall strength of the cement paste. C S H gel gets the ability of the to act as a binding phase from
its nanometer level structure.
As C S H gel grows outward from the cement particles, it does not form a single large block or
monolithic solid phase but instead develops a complex internal system of tiny pores, called gel pores.
Gel pores are hundreds or thousands of times smaller than the original capillary pores which are
relatively large. The liquid water present in the gel pores is not part of the solid C S H phase
chemically but it is physically isolated, thus it cannot undergo any further chemical reaction with the
cement.
When hydrated cement paste is observed under microscope at moderate level of magnification, we
could see two apparently different types of C S H gel. One of these gel is less dense and more porous
that appears to occupy

The Hurt Locker Character Analysis
In 2008, director Kathryn Bigelow presented The Hurt Locker, a war drama focusing on an army
bomb squad during the Iraq War. When Sergeant JT Sanborn loses one of his men from to an
explosion, Sergeant First Class William James replaces the bomb defuser and joins Sanborn and
Specialist Owen Eldridge. Due to Sanborn s heavy ego and James reckless methods, tensions rise and
the men constantly quarrel until the three realize their similarities of being entrapped by war. The film
explores the idea of soldiers as heroes and even questions the validity of this concept; various
situations challenge James and his reactions do not always correspond with those of a cliché idol.
Although James contradicts the idea of the typical hero, he ultimately exhibits ... Show more content

Bigelow operates this idea entirely; she begins by proving realistic heroes also benefit from their own
actions. Past films display heroes actions as only benefiting the lives of citizens as a collective whole,
but Bigelow does not believe in solely choosing between the happiness of the people and the
happiness of the hero. Instead, James endeavors serve his country and himself personally.
Additionally, Bigelow recognizes how heroes possess flaws and how this forms a connection between
heroism and humanity. James demonstrates his faults through his humane reaction to a body bomb;
instead of following common protocol and destroying the young boy s corpse, he keeps the carcass
intact and ultimately ends of killing another soldier due to an explosion. This scene also validates how
heroes must take risks that threaten the lives of others. Audiences already understand how a typical
American hero can jeopardize his own life, but the modern American hero understands he cannot
sacrifice himself alone; others might face risks as well. The scene in which James and his squad
oppose military orders during their final mission also supports this characteristic. Because Bigelow
portrays the character of James as a

Pets Are Prone At Superficial Skin Injuries
Pets are prone to superficial skin injuries and most owners will encounter a situation at some point in
time involving a cat, dog or other pet that s sustained a wound. Unfortunately, many dog and cat
owners do not know how to properly clean and disinfect a wound or the owner will assume that the
injury will heal on its own, leading to a complete lack of wound care. And too often, a situation with a
wounded dog or cat will end in the veterinarian s office with a pet who s experiencing a great deal of
pain and discomfort from the cut, gash or sore. It s important that pet owners understand how to
perform basic first aid on their animals. It s part of responsible animal ownership. You wouldn t ignore
a wound on your child, so a dog or cat s wound should be tended to as well, explained Dr. Michael
Levine, DVM. If an injury is not treated properly, infection will result. Signs of infection include pain,
swelling and redness, In cases where an infection has been left to fester and spread unchecked, the pet
may need to go under anesthesia for a complete cleaning of the wound site and removal of tissue that s
been damaged by the infection. In severe cases, the infection can spread from the skin s surface, down
into the deep tissues of the muscle and even to the bone. If the infection encounters the circulatory
system, the infection can turn systemic, resulting in an often deadly condition known as sepsis. To
avoid infection, all cuts, scrapes, sores and other

In The Cask Of Amontillado, The Raven, And Annabel Lee
The unity of effect is all the elements in a story that channels the effect the author wants the audience
to experience. Therefore, to achieve the unity of effect in the Cask of Amontillado, The Raven, and
Annabel Lee, Poe used the elements of setting, alliteration, and unreliable narrator to help elicit the
unsettling mood in the audience.
For the sake of the unity of effect , Poe uses setting for the purpose of conceiving a sinister mood. As
Montresor and Fortunato walked deeper into the catacombs in the Cask of Amontillado, Montresor
points out the trickling of the water on the bones. We are below the river s bed. The drops of moisture
trickle among the bones. (Cask)The setting is under the surface of the earth, so the audience associates
it with with Hell because of the bones that lie around. The bones also make the audience feel that the
setting is eery and dangerous because it reminds them of death. This only makes isolation and danger
prominent factors in the setting. The mood becomes unpredictable and treacherous, with a sense of
fear and dread knowing that something bad will happen to the characters who are away from safety.
Under those circumstances, Poe controlled the audience s fear and the diabolical mood using the dark
setting.
Once again Poe uses the unity of effect to elicit this tense mood and draw out terror in the audience. In
The Raven, Poe used alliteration with the intention to build a suspenseful mood and dread in the
audience. The narrator of

Cesar Chavez Struggle In The Fields Analysis
SSCI 100 Assignment #2
The Struggle in the Fields has always been a controversial issue. In the PBS series, we get to learn
how many obstacles came along, when many Filipino farm workers along with Mexican American
workers began to demand a change in the fields.
The struggle in the fields was a movement that was primarily started as a strike in 1965 by Filipino
farm workers in Coachella, California than it was led by Cesar Chavez throughout the central valley,
they demanded better working conditions from the Growers. Many Mexican American farm workers
in Delano, California started to walk off the fields, refusing to pick grapes until the demands they had
were heard. The workers were tired of inhuman treatment and the poor working conditions, ... Show

Their faith allowed them to feel stronger when the movement was taking place, it allowed them to
fight in several different ways. The movement was already in the fifth month and they had not seen
any type of change, this was when Cesar Chavez decided to start a peregrinacion to Sacramento. His
goal was to recruit or inspire as many people so they could join the movement and have a louder
voice. This brought an opportunity to take their voices all around the San Joaquin valley, they saw the
valley as a place that had been full of limitations for them and the peregrinacion made the limitations
disappear, they were able to surpass those walls, and as they walked throughout many towns more and
more people became sympathetic to their cause and joined them on this journey. When they were on
the peregrinacion their mornings began with the faith they had held they went to mass, after they
would begin to walk to the next town, following a sacred image of La Virgen de Guadalupe it gave
them hope. His nonviolence policy also had a lot to give to the movement, as years pass many of the
farm workers became frustrated at the fact that they had not seen any changes, they began to talk
about using violence against the growers, this was when Cesar Chavez began to worry about the
things they could do, and he took matters into his own hands. In 1968 he started a

Of Samuel Taylor Coleridge s This Lime Tree Bower My...
Samuel Taylor Coleridge viewed the world in a different light than his peers. He was known as one of
the greatest poets of the Romantic Period, but he had a hard, troubled life and this was reflected in his
poems. Most of his poems were not only made to indulge the reader, but to make the reader think. His
poems were much deeper than just their literal meaning. They invited the reader into Coleridge s heart
and mind. In doing so, the reader learned a different way to view the world and what Coleridge felt.
Many of Samuel Taylor Coleridge s poems include intimate self revelation of the poet by expressing
emotions, thoughts, and using spirituality, such as is seen in This Lime Tree Bower my Prison and
Dejection: An Ode . Coleridge s poems include intimate self revelation of the poet such as is seen in
This Lime Tree Bower My Prison and Dejection: An Ode by expressing emotions. In the poem Lime
Tree Bower My Prison , Coleridge starts the poem by focusing on the garden of lime trees that he
inhabits. Coleridge compares the lime tree garden to a prison. This makes him feel unhappy and feel
as though he is suffering by not being able to go on the walk. But, then he begins to imagine what the
walk would be like. Through his imagination, he is able to change his emotional state to a happier one.
In doing so, Coleridge comes to a realize that the lime tree bower is not so bad and has its own

Tornado Research
Introduction
Predicting tornado activity can be one of the most challenging aspects of Meteorology. Tornados can
form in less than 10 seconds, providing little to no warning of the potential devastating destruction
they leave behind. With advancements in technology being more aware of the formation of tornados
would appear to be a natural outcome. Research indicates, that the advancement in predicting tornados
is closely related to understanding better why early predictions are challenging.
Reasons for Predicting Tornados
Tornados create devastating destruction throughout their path and leave behind horrifying stories.

Avatar Film Analysis
Most of the science fiction works contain a crucial message that the writer wishes to convey to the
viewers. There are two categories of film message, one is positive and the other is negative. A positive
message is one that is expected to have favourable outcome to the audience, and continuously aiming
to promote better societal changes. In contrast, a negative message is one that could deliver threats or
unpleasant information to the audience, which could have significant impact on the normal order of
the society. This essay will argue that if the message contains positive elements, then it is not a bad
sign to embed science fiction works with a message. First, this essay will suggest that the well

In addition, the film focus mainly on a human protagonist name Jake, and narrate his transformation
from a human to an alien, which is done through a human developed technology that injects human
DNA into the alien bodies. After Jake s transformation, the scene opens another implicit message:
aliens are to be forcibly removed from their planet to create space for human activity (Veracini, 2011,
p. 357). For the climax part of the film, the director establishes a passage that describes Jack becoming
a native of Pandora, and the director again aims to introduce the audience with a message saying that
human power against corporate force as to conserve our natural environment. This message seemingly
gives audience a wonderful twist of the plot and is quite thought provoking for the audience. Hence,
when a film includes well integrated messages, it adds another layer of quality to the entire plot
whereby all the elements of the plot becomes more meaningful, and the general audience could be
attuned with the rhythm of the film because there is a logical flow from one scene to the next.
Moreover, the positive messages embedded in science fiction works can have powerful influence on
the audience and the society, both locally and globally. In particular, most of the messages embedded
are prompted by the past events of world history or by the contemporary social phenomena, and

Mayan Religion Essay
The Mayan practiced a religion of many gods. Mayan religion was the subject of much discussion
leading up to December 21st, 2012. The Mayan practiced Roman Catholicism. Mayan rulers were

Regulating What We Eat
Should the Government be Regulating What We Eat? More than 160,000 deaths are associated with
obesity each year. People from other countries imagine a country overrun by obese and overweight
people when they think of America. The thing is, those make up only .05% of America s population.
Therefore, the government should not be regulating what we eat, like unhealthy food and junk food.
We ourselves should be able to pick whatever we want to eat. We ourselves know the consequences of
eating unhealthy foods and junk foods and that individuals carry the most responsibility for weight
issues and obesity as it says in a recent poll. Almost 90% of people believe that this is true according
to a recent poll. Some states such as New York have gone as far as to ban certain junk foods and

Block Nested Loop Join
1. Abstract:
The project deals with the Block Nested loop Join operation on given relations. In the project, we used
Adventure Works database to demonstrate the results. We observed the execution of the block nested
loop Join. The project also takes into account the technical details of each relations, for example, what
is the tuple size of the relation, what are the total number of blocks allocated for each relation, what
are the number of tuples per block and so on. The algorithm for the Join are detailed and explored.
Also for the algorithm, the best, the worst case is being elaborated. Further, even the available
memory size, allocated memory size, are taken into account while retrieving the tuples from the
relations. The number of Block transfers, and number of I/O seeks required for each relation are
calculated. Finally, these time of each relation in the algorithm are compared to determine the role of
tuples in Block Nested loop join.
2. Implementation:
For the implementation purpose, Adventure Works is used as the database and Java is used for
Programming. Net Beans is used for Java programming and

The Music Media Industry
Music Media In the music media industry, I do not believe in having illegal music. There is no point in
having illegal music. I do not support having illegal music because of the money, illegal music can
cause trouble, and there should just be no more illegal music.
Money can be a problem when it comes to buying music. Illegal music is free, but legal music cost
money and whoever owns that server gets all the money. (Judith Baughman). We are also wasting
money like the author, Judith Baughman said, Having to get legal music can sometimes add up to a lot
of your money and you are just wasting your hard earned cash on music that should be for free. We
should not have to have to pay for music; we should get music for free. There is really no point in
having legal music, but we should not be getting illegal music either. You should get legal music
because that way you are not considered a thief. (Judith Baughman). So it s better to buy legal music
instead of stealing it. Even though legal music cost money, it is better than getting into trouble. (Judith
Baughman). This is why we should get music for free because there is no point in having legal and
illegal music. Many people buy and steal music, but there should be no need for that because they
should not have to buy music; music should just be for free. There is no point in having illegal music
if everyone downloads them anyways. (What is Illegal Music Downloading)? The only reason they

Developing a marketing strategy is an important tool to understand the company s target customers.
This helps to understand and communicate with the customer base and translate their needs
effectively. The two major strategies of segmentation are concentration and multi segment strategy.
Concentration strategy focuses or concentrates on a set group of consumers who are limited and will
use that brand. For example the manufacturers of BMW cars are concentrating on customers who
prefer high end cars and will focus their energies in the luxury segment of the car market. They will
give complete attention to customers who prefer to buy the car for the status symbol and brand image
that BMW carries and so the manufacturer will choose to focus all of their efforts on a single segment.
If BMW chose to use a multi segment strategy they would be marketing to every car user not for
brand image alone but purposes such as cars that are used on a daily basis by the working class for
mileage, reasonable pricing and other such practical aspects, this will not help BMW maintain their
brand value which may be affected and diminish in value. BMW has defined its market and it s
product as a luxury brand, high end car and that is the strategy they continue to concentrate

How Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery Is An Effective...
Microvascular reconstructive flap surgery is an effective way for the medical team to improve the
appearance or functionality of a surgical or existing tissue defect. Microvascular free tissue transfers,
or free flaps, are monitored for arterial and venous insufficiency for several days during the post
operative period. The gold standard for flap monitoring includes the clinical inspection of color,
capillary refill, temperature, and turgor of the transplanted tissue involved. Due to limited alternative
reconstructive options available to patients, accurate and timely flap assessments are critical to the
viability of the flap. Unfortunately post operative complications are sometimes unavoidable, however
monitoring by a trained clinician is associated with early flap salvage rates that in turn improve patient
care outcomes (Salgado, Chim, Shoenoff, Mardini, 2010).
This performance improvement proposal explores the efficiency and accuracy of using telemedicine as
an adjunct method of free flap monitoring comparted to traditional methods. This proposal will
discuss the relevance of using digital photographs and internet technology as a means to improve
response times between the nurse and the primary plastic surgeon that increase salvage rates of
ischemic flaps. Conclusive findings from two studies involving 200 free flaps indicate that digital
photographs and smart phone communication resulted timely intervention by the plastic that

Dogs Are Dogs And Cats
To me, there has always been a big difference between dogs and cats. Some people like dogs more;
some people like cats more. To decide which one you like more is always hard. Some of those main
points are how they play, how to take care of them, where they go to the bathroom, and how big they
get. Dogs have been around for over thousands of years now as humans pets. The word dog still has a
much unknown origin, but people believe it came from a word in German named docga . The word
dog means a domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically has a long snout, an acute sense of
smell, and a barking, howling, or whining voice. They have always been a very good human
companion. Cats have also been human s pets for over thousands of years now. The origin of the word
cat comes from old English and Middle English as catte . The word cat means a small domesticated
carnivorous mammal with soft fur, a short snout, and retractile claws. One of the biggest differences I
always notice between dogs and cats is how they go to the bathroom. Cats usually go in a litter box
that s kept indoors. The litter box is required to be cleaned at least once a month. It does tend to get
very stinky after a while when left in the house. A nice thing about cats is you don t have to be there to
let them out for the bathroom. Dogs get put on a lease in most cases to be let outside for the bathroom.
If your dog is well trained a lease is not always required for them to be let out. When a dog has to go

Irony in Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal
Rhetorical strategies are techniques, which are used to make one s writings more effective. The choice
of rhetoric strategy depends on the type of subject being discussed. The effectiveness of appropriate
strategy is directly related to the mood, which is to be created and maintained. For example if
someone is criticizing the government, the tome is usually kept serious and Irony and satire are widely
used in such writings. On the other hand while describing the recent developments in genetic
engineering, the tone would be objective and humor or satire would be ineffective here.
Jonathan Swift was famous for his sarcastic remarks on the government of his days and his works are
full of satire and irony which appear to be humorous but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I am not in the least pain upon that matter, because it is very well known that they are every day
dying and rotting by cold and famine, and filth and vermin, as fast as can be reasonably expected.
Swift was not the only one who applied the technique of irony to convey his message more effectively,
there were several other people who from time to time have made use of satire with irony to comment
on or oppose to certain views and ideas. Martin Luther King Jr. was the champion of human rights
who spoke extensively for the rights of African Americans. He became an icon for the black
community because of his highly emotional speeches and his writings, which focused on the subject
of equal rights for black men and women in the United States.
His Letters from the Birmingham jail are valued for their emotional content and their comments on his
own activities. These letters cannot exactly be termed satirical or ironical in tone. In fact compared to
Swift s works, King s letters would probably appear polite. But there are certain portions where he has
used irony very effectively for example in his response to clergymen who had criticized King s
activities, he said in his letter, While confined here in the Birmingham city jail, I came across your
recent statement calling my present activities unwise and untimely. Seldom do I

Comparing The Book And Movie Version Of Jaws
The film version of Jaws kept to the core story line of the novel, Jaws, however the film was more
action packed. There were many similarities but just as many differences. The pertinent characters in
the book were similar but had dissimilar personalities. The key character, Police Chief Martin Brody,
was comparable as he is a family man, loves his job, and gets frustrated when facing the dilemma of
locating and destroying the great white shark. Another resemblance is the shark is described in the
book and depicted in the film as a great white, approximately thirty feet long and very ferocious. Two
major differences are the film does not reveal references to the Mafia and does not show an

The image the filmmaker shows you the struggle of victims while iconic music is played. The motif is
the music which can be heard anytime the shark attacks. This allows the music to stand for the vision
of the shark approaching. The scene in the book that sums up the theme, is how Brody responds to the
shark violence . The scene in the movie that sums up the theme is while the men are on the boat,
bonding over their experience, Brody states You re gonna need a bigger boat (Jaws, ) as the shark
keeps ramming the boat.
VI. Other The author has the advantage of telling the story and adding more complex information to
help the reader understand the narrative and characters completely. The author s disadvantage is trying
to create a visual succinctly. An example, is Quint s boat is not fully explained to learn how small,
large, old, or new the boat actually is, you are left to wonder can the shark easily destroy the boat. The
movie advantage is the visual effects. What the author needs to describe in detail can be shown. Once
the shark appears on film, there is no doubt how menacing and terrifying the shark remains. The
movie s disadvantage is to deliver the story live and make it interesting enough to hold the viewer s
attention for about two hours. The director must distinguish what to eliminate from the book to keep

Summaries of non disclosure agreement
A non disclosure agreement (NDA), also known as a confidentiality agreement (CA), is a legitimate
contract between no less than two that frameworks secret material, learning, or information that the
parties wish to impart to each other for specific purposes, yet wish to limit access to or by outsiders. It
is an agreement through which the parties concur not to unveil information secured by the assertion. A
NDA makes a classified relationship between the parties to secure any sort of private and exclusive
information or prized formulas. In that capacity, a NDA remedies nonpublic business information.

Disability Simulation Paper On Disability
Disability Awareness Simulation Paper
Disability simulation is the process where an able bodied individual assumes a position of the person
with disability to try and understand what really happens in the life of a person with disability. It is
offers experience that allows one to learn more about people living with disability and hopefully treat
them better; have a change of perception. It gives first hand experience on how life of person with
disability really is. A day alternating as a person on the wheelchair and as assistant had so much to
offer as will be illustrated below.
First was to use public transportation. My partner and I chose to ride the bus to catch a glimpse of
what using a wheelchair in the bus would mean. I was the assistant in this case. At first I thought it
would be an easy time working as an assistant. I expected to be given priority and special treatment as
I had a person on the wheelchair with me; but no. Boarding the bus was a bit difficult since the bus did
not have enough space to accommodate the wheelchair. We needed help to get in as the floor of the
bus was higher than the ground we stood on. In the bus, the wheelchair had to be folded while in the
bus since the space to put it was limited.
This was an eye opener for us to advocate for public transportation especially the bus to be modified
to accommodate persons with physical disability using a wheelchair. A lift or a ramp could be
provided for easy boarding of the bus. Additional space

During that time, many people especially in New York City saw graffiti as vandalism and prohibited

The Theory Of Leonardo Da Vinci s Multiple Intelligence...
Gardner s Multiple Intelligence theory challenged traditional beliefs in the field of education and
cognitive science. He is a psychologist professor at Harvard University s Graduate School of

theory of Multiple Intelligences proposes that all human beings possess each of the nine intelligences

similar paradoxes to that of grace and evil, along with a different dialect to aid in masking the true

When this is applied to one s life, hope can be found. Burgess wanted to emphasize that no matter how
bad a person Alex may have been, he deserved God s Grace and forgiveness. Therefore, freedom of
choice is more important, no matter what evil acts people choose to carry out.
There are a plethora of instances throughout the novel where violent acts are committed, yet described
and portrayed gracefully. As the novel opens, Alex and his droogs are preparing themselves for a night
of fighting. In just one night, they manage to rob, rape, and assault several others. However, the major
crime of the night was the rape of the writer F. Alexander s wife, who later dies due to the injuries
inflicted upon her. The crimes of that night and every night to follow are both artistically committed
on Alex s part and masked with the use of Nadsat which is the dialect based on Slavic and Russian.
During fight scenes it is apparent that Alex enjoys the pain he inflicts upon others. Because fighting is
a frequent occurrence, he tries to make each one more pleasurable, interesting, and artistic. When Alex
and his droogs come across Billyboy who is raping an innocent girl with his gang, this fight scene is
depicted artistically by Alex, the narrator. Even though it is evil, horrible, and violent, there is
gracefulness present through his actions. He states, but for my own part [I] had a fine starry

  • 3. Essay On Implication Of JK-STAT Implications of JAK STAT in disease So far, we have seen that this pathway is accountable for the transduction of extracellular stimulus into transcriptional factors that regulate several cellular functions. STATs are also known to exert additional functions such as affecting oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria, regulating chromatin compliance and epigenetic markings in the nucleus and interacting with the microtubule components in the cytoplasm which are responsible for cellular motility (4). This pathway has been observed to play an integral role in the development of mammary gland, stem cells, lymphocytes, neuronal cells, eye cells, cardiomyocytes, adipocytes. Consequently, its dysregulation induces various diseases, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... STATs contribute significantly to cellular fate decisions of differentiating naïve T cells into regulatory and inflammatory T cells, lymphocyte development, and exercise control over the intensity and duration of inflammatory responses. STAT3 particularly is involved in the regulation of cell death, cell growth and in the transcription of inflammatory genes. This serves as the basis for its contribution to the development of chronic inflammatory diseases and neurodegenerative diseases (8). This pathway has been associated with several monogenic diseases like the bubble boy syndrome (X linked severe combined immunodeficiency). The extreme susceptibility to pathogens observed is caused by a lack of T and NK cells, which occurs due to loss of function variants of the common γ chain signal transduction. A subset of SCID patients demonstrated mutations in Jak3 kinase specifying the non redundant in vivo functions for any JAK/STAT component (9). After the initial discovery of JAK3 SCID, many Mendelian disorders were reported. Discoveries made in the past three decades help us to correlate loss of function STAT mutations with specific types of pathogens. STAT1 mutations make patients vulnerable to viral and mycobacterial infections, whereas patients having STAT2 mutations are prone to viral infections and fungal infections are most common in patients with STAT3 mutations (2). The last 20 years have brought to the fore remarkable connections between JAK STAT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay on The Secrets to Be Innovative Innovation is the process of changing something to make it better. To innovate a product is to modernise it so as to suit the people living in the current generation. Lots of ideas need to be generated in order to innovate. Innovation has no age restrictions. As long as you still have a pair of hand and feet with a good working brain, innovation can take place anywhere and at any time. IDEO was founded by David Kelley in Palo Alto, California, in 1991. He and his team works tirelessly everyday innovating and creating new ideas. IDEO designs about 90 new products every year. Apart from creating new products, IDEO can take any existing random product from the market and redesign it to make it better. We are not experts are a specific area ... • 5. The Glass Castle Some Characters Seek Freedom From Society... In The Glass Castle some characters seek freedom from society s rules while others seek the comforts and security that come from a normal life. What is more important to children? Freedom or security? I am convinced that what matters most to children is security. They may seek freedom but to them freedom means running around. However, running around leads to chaos. Then chaos can lead to danger and when children feel endangered or they ve fallen and got hurt they seek safety. Even if they live in a stable or peaceful household they want to feel safe and secure and, especially children living how Jeannette and her siblings did, want security. There are millions of children all over the world who live in poverty and are unprotected from the outside world that surrounds them. Most children who live in Bangladesh are in poverty and have basic material needs that must be met in order to ensure child safety. But since those needs are not met the child abandons their family and moves on doing drugs, committing crimes and living in the street. This is exactly what happened to Maureen Walls in The Glass Castle. Her needs were scarcely met in the Walls household so she spent a lot of time with other families and they practically took her up as their surrogate daughter. In final consideration to this situation, by the end of the story we found out that Maureen turned into a drug addict and smoker who hated her family, just like the children in Bangladesh. • 6. Pathetic Fallacy In The Great Gatsby The Great Pathetic Fallacy Smiling in the sunshine or seething in a storm, setting is simply a stirring way to set a scene and scrupulously supply significance to a story. In F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, it s easy to understand the atmosphere during important events such as Daisy and Gatsby s reunion and when Tom confronts Gatsby, this is because of pathetic fallacy. The Great Gatsby uses the weather to show and emphasise the emotions of the characters allowing the reader to interpret the plot and mood of important events thoroughly. The weather varies and changes often during Daisy and Gatsby s reunion, allowing the reader to effectively read the situation and follow the intense emotions both Daisy and Gatsby are feeling. When Nick invites Daisy to his house as a favor to Gatsby, he opens the door to Gatsby and states, Gatsby, pale as death, with his hands plunged like weights in his coat pockets, was standing in a puddle of water glaring tragically into my eyes. With his hands still in his coat pockets he stalked by me into the hall, turned sharply as if he were on a wire, and disappeared into the living−room... Aware of the loud beating of my own heart I pulled the door to against the increasing rain. (Fitzgerald 45) The increasing rain shows the increasing anxiety Gatsby, and perhaps Nick feels in this situation and Gatsby standing in the puddle of water shows how his anxiousness is engulfing him. The use of pathetic fallacy here shows how much Gatsby cares about how this meeting with Daisy will go and that he fears of a bad reaction to him suddenly appearing. Daisy and Gatsby talk for a while, afterwards, Nick brings up the weather, It s stopped raining. Has it? • 7. The New World s Tempest Derek Simmons July 22, 2015 ENGL 4011 Dr. Frank Brevik The New World s Tempest The Tempest is a Shakespearean play that takes play on a desert island somewhere between Tunis and Naples. A hazardous storm appears impacting a ship of European nobles and mariners; on board are Alonso, King of Naples, Gonzalo, Boatswain, Trinculo, Stefano, Antonio, Sebastian, and Ferdinand. The nobles are leaving Tunis, Africa after the wedding of Claribel, daughter of the King of Naples to the prince. Prospero, the former Duke of Milan uses his sorcery to conjure the very storm that bombards the nobles in order to bring them to the island. Frey interjects, In 1808, Edmond Malone argued that Shakespeare derived the title and some of the play s incidents from accounts of a storm and shipwreck experienced by Sir Thomas Gates and other Jamestown colonists on the Bermuda islands in 1609 (Frey 29).The play entails the romance of Ferdinand, Alonso s son and Miranda, Prospero s daughter; while also detailing a twelve year power struggle that is resurfacing itself in a treacherous plot for power. In comparison to the New World s politics, The Tempest can be read as a play that deals with these same political issues: rebellion of constituted authorities, colonization of a new land, dehumanizing of the natives, marriages and romances of royalty, masters and servants, Christian virtues, and visions of a utopia. In the New World, there is a balance of power and a struggle to maintain this balance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Advertising For Advertising How much are ads part of everyday life? The New York Times recorded a study by Yankelovich, a market research firm, and they estimated that people living in a city see up to 5,000 or more advertisements a day. By the same token, children are heavily exposed to advertising, and most of the ads today are directed right at them. Advertising to children is a big part of the market today. Therefore, advertisers should not market to children because it is unethical. It can influence children s behavior in a negative fashion, and markets can exploit children, and can use the media to reach children at young ages even though they are not able to understand its intent. Ads can influence and affect a child s behavior. With this in mind, marketers tapped into the children s market and figured it would boost their revenue. It all starts when a child is very young. According to the article How Marketers Target Kids children at six months of age can form mental images of corporate logos and mascots. Brand loyalties can be established as early as age two... Not to mention, marketers will create campaign ads so children will use pestering behavior to get a certain product, which starts at a young age as well ( How Marketers Target Kids ). While it is clear that Bertrand Russell wished for the continuation of the practice of philosophy, he acknowledges most people have no idea what philosophy is, outside of the idea of a group of people thinking about life. With this writing while giving some of the products that have come from philosophy, he also warns that not all answers can be gained from the philosophy. While definite answers can be gained through the sciences, philosophic study only raises more uncertainty. Bertrand Russell supports his arguments with insight that comes from teaching, practicing, and seeing the effects of philosophy both within himself and the people around him. While studying philosophy Russell will only intensify the uncertainty about the world around us and the inner workings of our mind. Likewise in support of Russell s argument, the study of sciences that is aforementioned such as; Phycology, Astronomy, and Physics which were originally pondered by philosophers has moved from philosophical theory to scientific study. • 10. The Female Victims Are Invisible I believe that the female victims are invisible. From the different events that I have seen growing up in the neighbor hoods that I have been in as well as what the media presents I can strongly believe in that statement. I can say that I have seen attempts where community and even families have tried to come together and make a stand but it has never had enough power to where female victims have a strong voice and to get attention or awareness they needed. When I originally saw this question the first thing that came to my mind is a situation that I saw and heard as a kid. I can remember going over to my grandmother s house and when I would spend the night I could hear the couple next door arguing and even hitting each other , and I could remember waking up and telling my grandmother we have to do something . She looked at me and said I have spoken to her and called the cops a lot of times baby. No one is doing anything about it . From that moment on when I think or even hear of female women victims there is no real standard being put into place for a significant change. Reading through chapter 6 over the theories and views that have been towards female victims over the period of years I still see the female victims are still in silence, covering, hiding, in fear and invisible. There are attempts, regulations, and studies put into place as the years go on who see these women and even some who have interacted and tried to help, but from my view and being a women they are ... He was a top official in Rome, namely the quot;Judge of Taste quot; in Nero s court (129). Regardless of the responsibilities he had, he was an aristocrat. The history of Rome was written from an aristocratic perspective because they were the ones who had the money, ambition and free time to document history. Petronius believed that slaves are low class, and that a slave that has been set free, id est a freedmen, is still a slave at heart, ergo worthless. He uses language that a blacksmith might use (23). His wife was a prostitute before he bought her freedom. For the cultured Roman, it would be repulsive to even take bread from her hand, let alone marry her (26). Some very sublime, perhaps debatable evidence of the thesis is presented by Petronius using a metaphor to express his view that a slave will always be a slave. If a slave is freed, he s still the same person, a low life. Petronius writes a scene where a boar wearing the hat of a freedman is brought into the dining room. It was supposed to be the dinner for the previous night but they quot;set him free quot; (29). However, a free boar is still a boar, and now he is dinner. The hat changes nothing. Petronius asserts his personal belief that slaves will be slaves no matter what changes on the outside, they will always be slaves on the inside. From the viewpoint of the aristocracy, merchants were generally considered to be of a very low class. Report On Chemical Composition And Structure Of Csh CE 2020: Construction Materials Report on Chemical composition and Structure of CSH Arjit Soni ES13B1005 Introduction: The C S H gel is the most abundant reaction product in cement, occupying about half of the paste volume, it is also responsible for most of the properties of cement paste. This is just not because it is a strong or stable phase but because it forms a continuous layer that binds the cement particles together. All the other hydration products of cement form discrete crystals that are naturally strong but do not have good connections to the solid phases they are in contact with hence cannot contribute much to the overall strength of the cement paste. C S H gel gets the ability of the to act as a binding phase from its nanometer level structure. As C S H gel grows outward from the cement particles, it does not form a single large block or monolithic solid phase but instead develops a complex internal system of tiny pores, called gel pores. Gel pores are hundreds or thousands of times smaller than the original capillary pores which are relatively large. The liquid water present in the gel pores is not part of the solid C S H phase chemically but it is physically isolated, thus it cannot undergo any further chemical reaction with the cement. When hydrated cement paste is observed under microscope at moderate level of magnification, we could see two apparently different types of C S H gel. One of these gel is less dense and more porous that appears to occupy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bigelow operates this idea entirely; she begins by proving realistic heroes also benefit from their own actions. Instead, James endeavors serve his country and himself personally. Additionally, Bigelow recognizes how heroes possess flaws and how this forms a connection between heroism and humanity. James demonstrates his faults through his humane reaction to a body bomb; instead of following common protocol and destroying the young boy s corpse, he keeps the carcass intact and ultimately ends of killing another soldier due to an explosion. This scene also validates how heroes must take risks that threaten the lives of others. Audiences already understand how a typical American hero can jeopardize his own life, but the modern American hero understands he cannot sacrifice himself alone; others might face risks as well. Pets Are Prone At Superficial Skin Injuries Pets are prone to superficial skin injuries and most owners will encounter a situation at some point in time involving a cat, dog or other pet that s sustained a wound. Unfortunately, many dog and cat owners do not know how to properly clean and disinfect a wound or the owner will assume that the injury will heal on its own, leading to a complete lack of wound care. And too often, a situation with a wounded dog or cat will end in the veterinarian s office with a pet who s experiencing a great deal of pain and discomfort from the cut, gash or sore. It s important that pet owners understand how to perform basic first aid on their animals. It s part of responsible animal ownership. You wouldn t ignore a wound on your child, so a dog or cat s wound should be tended to as well, explained Dr. Michael Levine, DVM. If an injury is not treated properly, infection will result. Signs of infection include pain, swelling and redness, In cases where an infection has been left to fester and spread unchecked, the pet may need to go under anesthesia for a complete cleaning of the wound site and removal of tissue that s been damaged by the infection. In severe cases, the infection can spread from the skin s surface, down into the deep tissues of the muscle and even to the bone. Therefore, to achieve the unity of effect in the Cask of Amontillado, The Raven, and Annabel Lee, Poe used the elements of setting, alliteration, and unreliable narrator to help elicit the unsettling mood in the audience. For the sake of the unity of effect , Poe uses setting for the purpose of conceiving a sinister mood. As Montresor and Fortunato walked deeper into the catacombs in the Cask of Amontillado, Montresor points out the trickling of the water on the bones. We are below the river s bed. The drops of moisture trickle among the bones. (Cask)The setting is under the surface of the earth, so the audience associates it with with Hell because of the bones that lie around. The bones also make the audience feel that the setting is eery and dangerous because it reminds them of death. This only makes isolation and danger prominent factors in the setting. The mood becomes unpredictable and treacherous, with a sense of fear and dread knowing that something bad will happen to the characters who are away from safety. Under those circumstances, Poe controlled the audience s fear and the diabolical mood using the dark setting. Microvascular reconstructive flap surgery is an effective way for the medical team to improve the appearance or functionality of a surgical or existing tissue defect. Unfortunately post operative complications are sometimes unavoidable, however monitoring by a trained clinician is associated with early flap salvage rates that in turn improve patient care outcomes (Salgado, Chim, Shoenoff, Mardini, 2010). This performance improvement proposal explores the efficiency and accuracy of using telemedicine as an adjunct method of free flap monitoring comparted to traditional methods. This proposal will discuss the relevance of using digital photographs and internet technology as a means to improve response times between the nurse and the primary plastic surgeon that increase salvage rates of ischemic flaps. Conclusive findings from two studies involving 200 free flaps indicate that digital photographs and smart phone communication resulted timely intervention by the plastic that contributed to the success of flap ... • 28. Dogs Are Dogs And Cats To me, there has always been a big difference between dogs and cats. Some people like dogs more; some people like cats more. To decide which one you like more is always hard. Some of those main points are how they play, how to take care of them, where they go to the bathroom, and how big they get. Dogs have been around for over thousands of years now as humans pets. The word dog still has a much unknown origin, but people believe it came from a word in German named docga . The word dog means a domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically has a long snout, an acute sense of smell, and a barking, howling, or whining voice. They have always been a very good human companion. Cats have also been human s pets for over thousands of years now. The origin of the word cat comes from old English and Middle English as catte . The word cat means a small domesticated carnivorous mammal with soft fur, a short snout, and retractile claws. One of the biggest differences I always notice between dogs and cats is how they go to the bathroom. Cats usually go in a litter box that s kept indoors. The litter box is required to be cleaned at least once a month. It does tend to get very stinky after a while when left in the house. A nice thing about cats is you don t have to be there to let them out for the bathroom. Dogs get put on a lease in most cases to be let outside for the bathroom. If your dog is well trained a lease is not always required for them to be let out. When a dog has to go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Irony in Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal Rhetorical strategies are techniques, which are used to make one s writings more effective. The choice of rhetoric strategy depends on the type of subject being discussed. The effectiveness of appropriate strategy is directly related to the mood, which is to be created and maintained. For example if someone is criticizing the government, the tome is usually kept serious and Irony and satire are widely used in such writings. On the other hand while describing the recent developments in genetic engineering, the tone would be objective and humor or satire would be ineffective here. But I am not in the least pain upon that matter, because it is very well known that they are every day dying and rotting by cold and famine, and filth and vermin, as fast as can be reasonably expected. Swift was not the only one who applied the technique of irony to convey his message more effectively, there were several other people who from time to time have made use of satire with irony to comment on or oppose to certain views and ideas. Martin Luther King Jr. was the champion of human rights who spoke extensively for the rights of African Americans. He became an icon for the black community because of his highly emotional speeches and his writings, which focused on the subject of equal rights for black men and women in the United States. His Letters from the Birmingham jail are valued for their emotional content and their comments on his own activities. These letters cannot exactly be termed satirical or ironical in tone. In fact compared to Swift s works, King s letters would probably appear polite. But there are certain portions where he has used irony very effectively for example in his response to clergymen who had criticized King s activities, he said in his letter, While confined here in the Birmingham city jail, I came across your recent statement calling my present activities unwise and untimely. The key character, Police Chief Martin Brody, was comparable as he is a family man, loves his job, and gets frustrated when facing the dilemma of locating and destroying the great white shark. The scene in the movie that sums up the theme is while the men are on the boat, bonding over their experience, Brody states You re gonna need a bigger boat (Jaws, ) as the shark keeps ramming the boat. It is offers experience that allows one to learn more about people living with disability and hopefully treat them better; have a change of perception. It gives first hand experience on how life of person with disability really is. A day alternating as a person on the wheelchair and as assistant had so much to offer as will be illustrated below. First was to use public transportation. My partner and I chose to ride the bus to catch a glimpse of what using a wheelchair in the bus would mean. I was the assistant in this case. At first I thought it would be an easy time working as an assistant. I expected to be given priority and special treatment as I had a person on the wheelchair with me; but no. Boarding the bus was a bit difficult since the bus did not have enough space to accommodate the wheelchair. We needed help to get in as the floor of the bus was higher than the ground we stood on. In the bus, the wheelchair had to be folded while in the bus since the space to put it was limited. This was an eye opener for us to advocate for public transportation especially the bus to be modified to accommodate persons with physical disability using a wheelchair. A lift or a ramp could be provided for easy boarding of the bus. Additional space ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is a psychologist professor at Harvard University s Graduate School of Education. According to a traditional definition, intelligence is a uniform cognitive capacity people are born with. Simply put, intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. Gardner s theory of Multiple Intelligences proposes that all human beings possess each of the nine intelligences in varying amounts. In addition, he claims that these intelligences are located in different parts of the brain which can work together or independent of each other, and that the multiple intelligences can be strengthened or weakened depending how you treat each intelligence. The nine intelligences are as follows: Visual/Spatial People who are strong visually/spatially learn best when they are given material that is organized spatially. They like to have physical models or to see what is being taught to understand. They enjoy anything eye catching like charts, graphs, maps, tables, illustrations, art, or puzzles. Therefore, freedom of choice is more important, no matter what evil acts people choose to carry out. There are a plethora of instances throughout the novel where violent acts are committed, yet described and portrayed gracefully. As the novel opens, Alex and his droogs are preparing themselves for a night of fighting. In just one night, they manage to rob, rape, and assault several others. However, the major crime of the night was the rape of the writer F. Alexander s wife, who later dies due to the injuries inflicted upon her. The crimes of that night and every night to follow are both artistically committed on Alex s part and masked with the use of Nadsat which is the dialect based on Slavic and Russian.
