Leaders Are Born Not Made
LEADERS ARE BORN NOT MADE There have been an age long debate, and humans since
beginning of time, have tried to come up with an answer to this question Are Leaders born or are they
made?. This question has generated an age long debate, which in turn has resulted in various school of
thoughts, some believe that leaders are born, while others think otherwise. My contribution to this
lifelong debate will serve as a pointer to my position on this issue. I strongly believe that leaders are
born and not made. Who is a Leader? A leader is a person who guides others toward a common goal,
showing the way by example, and creating an environment in which other team members feel actively
involved in the entire process. A leader is not the boss of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe creativity is one of the top qualities that born leaders posses, its the ability to tap into the
subconscious to bring out great ideas. Creative leaders have the ability to re think their business
models and come up with ideas to drastically change their enterprise . (Stephen 2011) Although
Creativity is considered as one of the most prominent qualities that great leaders possess, another key
innate ability is Confidence. Confidence is among the traits of great leaders, confidence cannot be
taught; confidence for most great leaders is inborn. Francisco Dao in his article wrote Without
Confidence there is no leadership; leadership is about having the confidence to make decisions. If
someone is afraid to make and commit to decisions, all of the communication and empowerment in
the world won t make a squat of difference . (Dao 2008) Another quality that great leaders are born
with is Passion. Leaders always exhibit this quality in any area they find themselves. Being passionate
about an idea, a project, a business is just learnt in the confines of the four walls of a classroom, it s a
trait that is inborn. Passionate leaders spread passion to others
through their love of life, doing new things, taking risks, being motivated, having a sense of
urgency, and reinventing

How Plants Grow Research Paper
Plants have many roles to play. Plants make food and oxygen, they provide shelter for animals, and
they make and preserve soil, and provide useful products for humans. Plants are the only organism
that is able to convert light energy from the sun into food. This process is called photosynthesis. The
food that we eat is produced by plants. Humans need oxygen to live. This oxygen comes from plants.
Oxygen is produced when plants make food. Animals often use plants for their shelter and their food
source. Plants roots help hold the soil together and also help make soil. Plants help humans more than
just the oxygen they produce. They also produce food, fibers, medicines, and energy. Animals and
humans depend greatly on the roles of plants. (1) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First off, the temperature needs to be right. If it is too high or too low it will result in abdominal
development. Flowers and vegetables that grow in different seasons, require a different temperature.
Warm season vegetables and flowers grow best in 60o F, 75o F, and 80o F. Cool season vegetables and
flowers grow best in 50o F and 70o F. Plants require large amounts of sunlight to grow. Indoor light
often does not provide enough intensity. During the hot summer months, plants need at least one half
gallon of water each day. If plants do not receive enough water each day, their roots will dry out and
they will die. Just like humans, plants also need oxygen to survive. They use oxygen for respiration to
carry out their functions. Plants absorb minerals through their roots. They need these minerals to
survive. Some of the specific minerals they need is soil, fertilizer, manure, compost, fertilizer salts.
Finally, plants need support. Their basic support is soil that surrounds their roots. They also have
hydroponically supports that include, strings or stakes.

Analysis Of Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
Dream deferred The poem I will discuss today is Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes it is located on
page 620 of the textbook. The theme of this poem is postponing your dreams can lead to destruction in
your life. The tone of this poem is uncertainty. The author is very uncertain of what happens to a
dream deferred. The two elements of figurative language the author used in this poem to convey the
theme are simile and metaphor. The first element of figurative language I will discuss is simile. A
simile is when you compare two unlike things using like or as. This is shown multiply times
throughout the poem for example it says, Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun. The author is
comparing a dream deferred to a dried up raisin a raisin is already dry but if left out in the sun it
becomes hard to eat which mean it loses it nutritional purpose. ... Show more content on

(Spa.walsingham.org, n.d) This also takes us back to the tone of this poem which is uncertainty
because he is asking a question he is not telling the reader a dream deferred dries up like a raisin in the
sun he is asking does a dream deferred dry up like a raisin in the sun a person only asks a question
when their uncertain about something. Another example of a simile used in the poem was Or fester
like a sore and then run? This takes us back to the theme and tone if you have sore you want it to dry
up, so it can heal but if it festers and run that means it is infected and will take longer to heal.
(Spa.walsingham.org, n.d) . The dream that festers becomes infected with the disease of restlessness
and dissatisfaction this may lead to a person striking back at those who are

THE EFFECTS OF pGLO
ON E. COLI TRANSFORMATIONS
INTRODUCTION
Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) is a fluorescent protein found in jellyfish that causes organisms to
fluoresce. This protein was the first fluorescent protein to be discovered and has been highly useful in
a broad range of cell biology disciplines; because of it s highly useful reporter genes and the ability to
use multicolor protein tracking in living cells it has been useful in many scientific experiments such as
E. Coli transformations. There have been many other fluorescent proteins that have been cloned from
a wide variety of marine invertebrates, therefore making GFP not the only standing fluorescent protein
present. (Shaner 2014). The scientific uses of GFP have included ... Show more content on

Synthetic Dye Research Paper
Look down at your lap.
Are you wearing jeans?
Even if you re still in sweatpants, I m willing to bet you ve got a few pairs of denim nearby, right?
With so many jeans walking around today, it s easy to forget that their classic indigo color is actually
rare in nature. And while modern synthetic dyes have made this deep blue a common color, it wasn t
always so.
In fact, for centuries, in part because of its rarity, people across cultures and religions went totally
bonkers for indigo.
Demand for the color sparked trade wars, fueled Trans Atlantic slavery, and for a time the dye was
actually used as straight up currency.
The indigo craze probably even influenced Newton s original color wheel, even though most color
specialists no longer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually the liquid was drained, mixed with lye, molded into cakes, dried, and pounded into
powder.
Dyers could then mix that powder with water and other substances in soaking vats to get the exact
purpley blue shade they wanted.
India probably cultivated the original commercial supply of Old World indigo that worked it s way
around European trade routes during the Greco Roman era.
The so called blue gold later became culturally important and highly desired throughout Europe,
Japan, and West Africa, before eventually making it s way to the American colonies, where its
cultivation and trade helped fund the Revolutionary War effort.
Around the turn of 20th century synthetic indigo dye came on scene and decimated the natural dye
market. Today most commercial operations use the synthetic indigo, although environmental concerns
have reignited an interest in natural, sustainable dyes.
Okay, so what does any of this have to do with Newton, you ask?
Well, you may recall that in the mid 17th century, apple loving Isaac discovered the visible spectrum
of light when he held up a prism to a sunbeam and watched a rainbow come out the other

Why Should The Amazon Rain Forest Be Developed
Picture this. A beautiful tropical forest, with lush plant life and a huge variety of animals. The forest is
huge, covering 40% of South America, Including 60% of Brazil, 13% of Peru, 10% of Colombia, and
various parts of other countries, including Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French
Guiana. It is a little over half the size of the United States. This gorgeous example of natural beauty is
called the Amazon Rain Forest. The resources of the Amazon Rain Forest should be developed, but
they should be developed sustainably. The Amazon Rain Forest should be developed because it is full

Witness For The Prosecution Quotes
Ever seen the classic movie Witness for the Prosecution? Let me quote a dialogue from it between Sir
Wilfred Roberts, the defense lawyer and Leonard Vole, the murder accused. Roberts: Mr. Vole I must
tell you I m not putting her (Mrs. Vole) in the witness box. Vole: You re not? Why not? Roberts: Well
one thing she s a foreigner, not too familiar with the subtleties of our language. The prosecution could
easily trip her up. Even if one is not in the position of Mr. Vole and one s life does not depend on it,
the above quote still demonstrates the importance of language and language classes. If you don t know
a language properly and have to interact with the people who speak it, you re going to have a hard

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders that affect around 1% of the global
population worldwide. Although the optimal use of the 24 approved anti epileptic drugs in The United

epileptogenesis processes, particularly in neonatal epilepsy. Newborn are more subjected to early
onset of epilepsy because of the common complications of labor in human, such as hypoxia ischemia

It is a well known biomarker of brain injury associated with Alzheimer s disease, concussion and
epilepsy. Based on literature review, an overproduction of soluble S100B from the astrocytes binds to
the receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) leading to various responses including
increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, release of pro inflammatory markers, and
activation of stress response kinases resulting in neuronal cell death. The ongoing neuronal injury and
inflammation further promotes cellular apoptosis and impairs neurogenesis in epileptic brain.
Identification of this mechanistic relationship between acquired epilepsy and inflammation will

Human Aggression In Frankenstein And The Modern Prometheus...
The last full novel we read, Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley, touches on
human aggression much more directly than Candide or The Overcoat. Frankenstein, or, The Modern
Prometheus starts with a create but ends with a monster. The creature suffers an extraordinary amount
in an amazingly short timespan. It is essentially the not funny version of Candide. Initially, I felt
extreme pity for the creature. His only family left him (i.e., Victor Frankenstein) and he had little
knowledge of his world. Even after murdering, I still pitied the creature. Victor, in my opinion, was
the real killer and was guilty of negligence that lead to someone dying. Shelley s novel prompted the
most logical arguments out of the books we read. Is the creature guilty? And as I have already said, I
did not think he was. But as the novel unfolded, I found myself feeling extremely sorry for the
monster while simultaneously slowly realizing his guilt in the situation, which makes him a monster.
When Victor meets his creation on the mountain is when my opinion started to shift, but when the
monster plans revenge on Victor and executes his wife. No amount of ignorance and lack of self
control excuses a being from first degree murder, which is willful, deliberate, and premeditated. This
self awareness of a reader s own opinion of the monster can measure one s morality and is the true
horror of the novel. Yes, all the events that happen the monster are horrific in their own right. But,

teachers and one student teacher. There was not a written agenda for their PLC, but they seemed to
have an order to how their meeting was held. The began by discussing the unit that they were
completing which was using Greek Mythology to review and analyze student s reading
comprehension and summary writing abilities. They stated that their students seemed to be really
interested in the unit and did well with the reading comprehension. However, they had noticed that
some students were forgetting to state the title and author of the text within the summary and most
summaries lacked elaboration, but most students were knowledgeable about the basic structure of a
summary. As most students understood the basic structure, they decided that they were going to
transition onto the next unit which focused on informative essay writing, but modify the unit in order
to teach students the importance of including the title and author within a summary and ... Show more

Immigrants In Canada
Canada is a country that is known as a mosaic of people and cultures, meaning; it opens it arms to
immigrant families and gives them the freedom to express their own cultural values, ideas, beliefs and
customs. It is this system that welcomes thousands and thousands of immigrants a year with open
arms and the idea of a better life. This idea however, is sometimes not always as easy as it is thought
to be. Though Canada is an amazing country for immigrants to start a new life and get better
education, health care, and job opportunities, immigrant families are met with many challenges before
they are able to become accustom to their new life. It is important to understand the true difficulty of
the Immigrant Experience and the impact it has on families including adults as well as children. If it is
easier to understand the difficulties immigrant families go through in search of a better life in Canada
there can be more resources made to help them. It is important to take into consideration each
individual difficulty that is faced and properly research each factor in order to have a better
understanding on how to make the complete economic and societal integration of immigrants happen
faster. There is a number of categories that relate to the integration of immigrants into society and a
number of steps they must take to be a part of Canadian society. In order to understand these steps
they have to be thoroughly researched.
Language Barriers
When immigrants first step into Canadas borders the most obvious challenge they have to face is the
barrier that is set immediately due to language differences. Canadas official languages include both
English and French these languages arguably are the most difficult languages to learn. In many ways,
for immigrants the first step to both economic and societal immigration is learning English. Without
learning English and proper English literacy skills there is little chance of getting a well paying job,
making connections with people in Canadian society and overall, without English immigrants are
unable to communicate with others around them in society during everyday life. Language and
Literacy training also relate to immigrant s employability. In a study showing

Essay about The Identity and History of the Caribbean
The Identity and History of the Caribbean
The Caribbean is a vastly diverse area representing the effects of colonialism, slavery, and the
combination of many cultures.
Since the arrival of Europeans the Caribbean islands have been going through constant change. The
loss of native peoples and the introduction of the plantation system had immediate and permanent
reprocussions on the islands. The Plantation system set up a society which consisted of a large, captive
lower class and a powerful, wealthy upper class. As the plantation systems became successful labor
was needed in order to progress. Slavery became the answer to the problem. Slavery played an

major factors which falls under capitalism of the Caribbean but Benitez Rojo writes, I think that one
must agree with Mintz that the plantation seems indispensable to studying the societies of the area. In
my opinion, nonetheless, the plantation could turn out to be an even more useful parameter; it could

to subsist there... someone remembered the sugarcane that Columbus had brought to the island, and he

The Mistakes Of Hester Prynne And Monica Lewinsky
Public humiliation has changed immensely weighing heavily on the creation of the internet
introducing the idea of online cyberbullying as opposed to scaffolding in a town square. As modern
society revels in putting people on a public pedestal, the scaffold that Hester Prynne is put onto marks
her as no longer a person with feelings, just as a negative figure people look upon to make themselves
feel higher. After the news broke of Monica Lewinsky s scandal, people no longer recognized her as a
young adult who makes mistakes, but was treated like a person with no emotions and incapable of
being affected by her mistakes. As the story went on throughout the internet, she was only represented
as a person through the mistake she made just as Hester Prynne was recognized for the crime she
committed. Publicly shaming Hester Prynne and Monica Lewinsky is and was a way for people to

Communism is system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single,
often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which
all goods are equally shared by the people. In some countries, the communist government functioned
well while in other countries, the government slowly collapsed on itself. Criticism rose from the
masses of the population of each country and caused the people to question if communism was the
most favorable system of government. In the late 1950s, Eastern European states criticism over
communism was harsh and condemnatory as the communists appeared to be doing nothing for the
well being of the countries; overtime, criticism shifted to a more melancholy tone, presenting a

Introduction The Wind Cries Mary was recorded by The Jimi Hendrix Experience in the United
Kingdom. It appeared on their debut release Are You Experienced in 1967. Written by Jimi Hendrix,
the song is based around an altercation between himself and his long time lover Kathy Mary

were taking at the time. Rock n Roll was a worldwide phenomenon and Jimi Hendrix became one of
the main pioneers of the rock/psychedelic movement. In the sixties the hippie culture was

Middle Class Americans
American middle class life was greatly influenced throughout 1870 1917. There were many profound
changes, however the American industrialization and urbanization were the most rapid and
unquestionably the most important. The industrialist brought forth household names that are still
around today such as Swift, Armour, Westinghouse, Pillsbury, Pullman, Rocketfeller, Carnegie, and

Americans lived in cities. Along with the cities came more use of electricity, electric lights,

famous William s Shaving Soap always soft fresh bright and healthy. Not a pimple in over twenty
years shaving experience. As for the second picture with the blood poison rashed man, This view
shows the effect of being shaved once with an impure so called cheap shaving soap. Blood poison
caused by applying impure animal fats to the tender cuticle of the face. The message that the William s
Shaving Soap company is trying to send to consumers is, without using William s soap, other cheap
imitations can lead to blood Poison rash and alter your appearance. These two ads are just examples of
the peer pressure Americans had to deal with during this era. With technology advancing and
appliance coming forth rapidly middle class Americans had many crucial decisions to make with the
little money they made.
There were many hopes, values, and fears of middle class Americans during that era. Middle class
Americans of that era had very strict values. Women did not work; they tended to everyday chores
around the homes. For example, women would cook,

Alan Kendricks Was Recently Promoted To Medical Director
Alan Kendricks was recently promoted to medical director for Cardiology Associates at Southern
Pennsylvania, University Hospital (SPUH). His first six months was a crash course in the roles of the
different departments in the hospital. While balancing patients, and the duties of his new role, Alan
has observed problems, and areas of improvements that he hopes to start implementing with change.
Him and other senior executives and clinical leaders, know that cardiology is seen as the pillar of
prosperity and they are exploring strategic potential. (Groysberg, Kaftan, McCalla, 2007) However, he
has run into the resistance of tenured staff and physicians not wanting to change procedures. Alan is

Griffiths tenure and Dr. Kendricks understood that. However, he believed that he needed to explore
changes in order to lead the practice into having a successful future. Initiatives that Alan has already
implemented during his first six months in his position was an open door policy during his
administrative hours. Dr. Griffiths was a much more hands off , collaborative director. (Groysberg,
Kaftan, McCalla, 2007) Where Dr. Kendricks wants to be more direct, and confrontational at times.
His new open door policy is becoming a major distraction for Alan, he is finding himself taking his
routine clinical work home so he is not interrupted with other issues. The change is leadership style
has also been challenging for the hospital to come to terms with. The physicians and support staff have
become complacent to the procedures and practices under Dr. Griffiths. Alan has been attempting to
implement a new pay for performance system, which includes electronic medical record (EMR),
decision support systems, e scribing of medications, and predefined disease management protocols for
patients with chronic conditions. With the new EMR system, senior physicians begrudged Dr.
Kendricks for telling them how to practice, and forcing them to use the new systems. Doctors are also
complaining about how they are being forced to do work support staff should be preforming. Alan is
having a hard time figuring out how to allocate the support staff s time fairly.

Male Gaze In The Male Gaze
The Male Gaze is a phrase coined by Laura Mulvey, in which she examines how through media, the
portrayal of women has evolved and is seen through the eyes of the male perspective. After the 1960 s
sexual revolution, films started to incorporate women as a more objectified aspect, demonstrated by
the visual representation of how they provocatively use their bodies.
In this essay we will be specifically examining the male gaze in the 1999 s cult classic, Fight Club
from both the protagonist and antagonist view and how we as the audience view ourselves, dissected
from the way the characters view themselves.
Fight Club is based on a book by Chuck Palahniuk, centred around a heavily depressed man (Narrator)
who is suffering from insomnia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator encounters Marla after she begins attending the self help groups he attends in order to
cope with his insomnia. She attends a self help group for testicular cancer, an obvious giveaway that
she, like him, is there under false pretence. He states that ..her lie reflected my lie, and suddenly I felt
nothing, I couldn t cry and so I couldn t sleep (Fight Club 2006, p. 7)
Similarly to the Mirror Stage , theorised by Lacan, he has identified his own trait in the opposite sex.
Through a process of identification which parallels Lacan s famous mirror stage, he derives pleasure
from identifying with an ideal image[...] (Laura Mulvey and the Male Gaze 2015)
From the Narrator s male gaze, he initially doesn t see her as an object of any desire. Her portrayal
towards the audience is almost corpse like, as seen in the image below.

Screwball Film Techniques
Reaching notoriety during the Great Depression, Screwball Comedies developed the idea of strong
female characters in society being the equals of Men. Focusing on the film Sullivan s Travels this
theme of equality amongst the sexist is aggrandised through use of ScrewBall techniques including
use of repartee, the inclusion of a strong female role, and strategic use of slapstick between hero and
heroine.
Opposed to the cliche of a dependant damsel in distress the Screwball comedy Sullivan s Travels
breaks free of the cliche and implements a strong leading female role. Only known through the movie
as The Girl this leading lady demonstrates the growing equality theme in Screwball by being
intelligent, resourceful, knowledgeable, and independent as told by Woodward in American Film

Through the use of repartee the main hero and heroine the heroine demonstrates a non submissiveness
seen in later genres of film and serves to aggrandise the fact that she is a free thinker . As example The
Girl in Sullivan s Travels already demonstrating her independence by refusing aid in several forms,
she demonstrates her intellectual prowess though what is seen as bickering in which sharp intellectual
jabs and snarky comments are thrown between main character and leading lady such as I liked you
better as a bum . The use of repartee according to Baker in A New Woman: The Heroine of Screwball
comedy also signified that The lead was simultaneously sexual and companionable, but the dialogue

Correlation Between Aerobic And Aerobic Fitness Levels
The analysis of the results of the current study demonstrated a significant difference between mean
change in pulse rate of subjects able to complete less than and greater than than 25 push ups (p 0.05).
The null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternate hypothesis (Ha) retained. This suggests a
correlation between aerobic and anaerobic fitness levels in completing high intensity exercise
In tests of endurance, aerobic glycolysis is the major source of energy to the body. The body requires
energy at a less intense rate; so slower aerobic glycolysis processes are sufficient to provide ATP over
an extended time period (Ghosh 2004). Aerobic fitness depends upon many physiological factors,
including density of capillary vessels surrounding lung alveoli, number of mitochondria (site of ATP
production) in cells and lung capacity (Bogdanis et al. 1996; Tomlin and Wenger 2002; Ghosh 2004).
A greater level of aerobic fitness will result in more efficient oxygen use, so oxygenated blood will not
need to be circulated at a much higher rate and pulse rate will not increase significantly. Pulse rate is
proportional to the energy required by the body (intensity of exercise) in regards to the aerobic
capacity of an individual, so heart rate will increase in accordance to the body s increasing energy
demand during exercise (Åstrand and Ryhming 1954).
In the current study participants undertook a step up endurance activity, in which a pulse rate change
was recorded for all

The s Quest For Meaning
Two mice, nibbling and gnawing, representing the inexorable entity, time, which exists as a constant
threat to humanity; a dark pit with death as the only certainty; a ferocious beast forbidding escape; a
single branch offering delay; a drop of honey attempting to conceal inevitable peril. The powerful
metaphor embedded in this Buddhist parable serves as the platform for Leo Tolstoy (A Confession) in
his quest for meaning. It offers a simplistic illustration of the common predicament faced by all of
mankind, to which Tolstoy and fellow thinkers, Sigmund Freud (Civilization and Its Discontents) and
C.S. Lewis (The Abolition of Man) attempt to provide a solution. Each thinker offers a unique
conclusion based upon their respective definitions of the problem and its perpetuating influences. The
thinkers focus their investigation on the authority of science, instinct, and faith. Tolstoy is distinct in
his ability to rationalize toward a purpose independent of mankind itself; he alters the circumstances
of life rather than man s capability to deal with such circumstances. Freud and Lewis confine their
respective reasonings to the continuation and progression of mankind so as to better cope with the
predicament of man. Their theories on the improvement of man and civilization serve only to extend
the torment of mankind.
Tolstoy does not hesitate to dismiss the significance of science as an answer to the predicament of
man. He quotes Solomon explaining that in much wisdom is much

A tidal salt marsh is a community of plants and animals that thrive in wet saline conditions (ADBC,
2010), which rely on the tides to bring nutrients, such as oxygen, nitrogen, and phosphorous. As the
tide leaves the wetlands, pools are exposed which shorebirds can feed on larvae without competition
from fish that was impossible during the time period of water diversion and dam construction. The
land became baron; an area of waste land, until 1967, when the water originally diverted for irrigation
of fields, was redirected to the lowland area. In 2006, a tidal inlet was successfully opened after 107
years, allowing the tide to flow to various parts of the wetlands which had previously been closed off
(ADBC, 2010).
During the process of Bolsa Chica environmental change, much has been learned about ecosystem
destruction and restoration. Wetland areas are as Wright states among the most productive ecosystems
on earth, rich in breeding grounds for many species of fish, shellfish, and waterfowl (2008).
Interfering with the natural biogeochemical cycles can have devastating effects, completely wiping out
ecosystems. Lessons learned are valuable for other restoration projects, many of which are in progress
throughout the United States (U.S.). Major learning s included, the rise in water salinity when not
allowed to mix with fresh water creates a hostile environment, making it inhabitable by the resident
community, lack of tidal rhythm reduces

The North Inn Bar Was A Sleepy Little Place
The North Inn bar was a sleepy little place, the kind of shabby pub that locals liked to congregate in to
trade gossip and visit with one another without having to fight scores of inebriated preppies for a
table. Memorial Day meant that summer had officially arrived, and even if the town was obscure and
unknown, the seasonal swell of tourists to the East End brought a good number of visitors who found
themselves within the city limits, and several new establishments had begun to cater to this crowd. But
not the North Inn. The well drinks were strong and cheap, and other than a decent view of the water,
that was pretty much all it had going for it. How things had changed. It was still a local place but it
was no longer quiet or hushed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

bar, like Cassie, was a bit subdued. While the music was still loud and strong, it had an underlying
mournful echo. The Rolling Stones sang Waiting on a Friend : I m not waiting on a lady, I m just

research about Car2go, which is a unique model using components of car rental and car sharing. It
creates enhanced flexible transportation possibilities for a comparable low price in Ulm in Aachen and
concerning the future in Hamburg as well. Our project work should include a feasibility study if the
business model of car2go can be adapted to the city of Worms. Concerning our teamwork we needed
to figure out which Phases and work packages were related to our project. The next steps had to be

Austria-Hungary s Assassination
Although many believe the assassination of Austria Hungary s Archduke Franz Ferdinand by a
Bosnian Serb named Gavrilo Princip to be the main catalyst for World War I, in reality, it was actually
an accumulation of many events that led to the start of the Great War. Collectively, these events are
now referred to as the July Crisis; additionally, events not included in the July Crisis also influenced
the beginning of World War I. The war was fought by two opposing Alliances: The Allied Powers,
consisting of the United Kingdom, France, and the Russian Empire at its core because they were the
three countries that formed the Triple Entente (as the war progressed, The Allied Powers gained the
support of Italy, Japan, and the United States); and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a letter to the Kaiser on the 5th of July 1914, Emperor Fran Joseph stated that the assassination of
his nephew was a direct consequence of the agitation carried on by the Russian and Serbian Pan
Slavists whose sole aim [was] the weakening of the Triple Alliance and the destruction of [his]
Empire. The evidence in the article shows that Austria Hungary is not going to allow this assassination
to go unpunished, because now the entire empire is feeling threatened. After the assassination, Austria
Hungary issued an ultimatum to Serbia, which stated that Austria Hungary wanted Serbia to be
completely responsible for the assassination, even though the killer was of Bosnian descent, not
Serbian. The Serbians were obviously angered by this ultimatum because they took it as an insult to
their country because also in the telegram was a request by the Austria Hungary to allow them to
investigate the murder of the Archduke because they felt as if the Serbians would not do a sufficient
job in performing the investigation. The ultimatum created uneasiness in Austria Hungary and Serbia;
however it also raised concerns in Germany and Russia as well. Evidence of this uneasiness can be
found in The Willy Nicky Telegrams, which was a correspondence between Nicholas II, Emperor of
Russia and Wilhelm II, the German Emperor. In a telegram sent by Wilhelm II to Nicholas II on the
28th of July 2914, Wilhelm states, It is with the gravest concern that I hear of the impression which
the action of Austria against Serbia is creating in your country . The fact that he is expressing grave
concern shows that this ultimatum given to the Serbians was making rulers of other countries
uncomfortable as well. Additionally, according to the Memoirs of Henry Morgenthau who was the US

Disarmament, Demobilization, And Reintegration Of Rebel...
Tori Topic B: Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration of Rebel Groups in Latin America
Less than eight percent of the global population resides in Latin America and the Caribbean, yet
approximately thirty three percent of the world s homicides occur in this region (Watts). More than
60,000 people have been killed by Drug Trafficking Organizations alone over the past 10 years, and
more than 26,000 have gone missing (Morris). Jordan recognizes that a significant portion of the
homicides in Latin America stem from the actions of rebel groups and, as a firm supporter of peace,
urges the international community to address the issue through Disarmament, Demobilization, and
Reintegration (DDR). To do so, the global community must shape the effectiveness and improvement
of DDR, as well as specific types of rebel groups such as gangs and drug cartels. Jordan believes that
by addressing these issues, the international community can assist Latin America in the restriction of
the influence and proliferation of rebel groups.
Although Jordan is not in close proximity with Latin America, it is invested in the issue, as the nation
itself is affected by rebel groups in the Middle East. Jordan does not currently have a presence in Latin
America concerning DDR, however, it is experienced with the concept within its own region,
specifically concerning Syria and Turkey (Piro). Jordan has a moderating effect on rebel groups in
much of the Middle East, and is a supporter of free syrian

  • 2. Leaders Are Born Not Made LEADERS ARE BORN NOT MADE There have been an age long debate, and humans since beginning of time, have tried to come up with an answer to this question Are Leaders born or are they made?. This question has generated an age long debate, which in turn has resulted in various school of thoughts, some believe that leaders are born, while others think otherwise. My contribution to this lifelong debate will serve as a pointer to my position on this issue. I strongly believe that leaders are born and not made. Who is a Leader? A leader is a person who guides others toward a common goal, showing the way by example, and creating an environment in which other team members feel actively involved in the entire process. A leader is not the boss of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe creativity is one of the top qualities that born leaders posses, its the ability to tap into the subconscious to bring out great ideas. Creative leaders have the ability to re think their business models and come up with ideas to drastically change their enterprise . (Stephen 2011) Although Creativity is considered as one of the most prominent qualities that great leaders possess, another key innate ability is Confidence. Confidence is among the traits of great leaders, confidence cannot be taught; confidence for most great leaders is inborn. Francisco Dao in his article wrote Without Confidence there is no leadership; leadership is about having the confidence to make decisions. If someone is afraid to make and commit to decisions, all of the communication and empowerment in the world won t make a squat of difference . (Dao 2008) Another quality that great leaders are born with is Passion. Leaders always exhibit this quality in any area they find themselves. Being passionate about an idea, a project, a business is just learnt in the confines of the four walls of a classroom, it s a trait that is inborn. Passionate leaders spread passion to others through their love of life, doing new things, taking risks, being motivated, having a sense of urgency, and reinventing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Plants Grow Research Paper Plants have many roles to play. Plants make food and oxygen, they provide shelter for animals, and they make and preserve soil, and provide useful products for humans. Plants are the only organism that is able to convert light energy from the sun into food. This process is called photosynthesis. The food that we eat is produced by plants. Humans need oxygen to live. This oxygen comes from plants. Oxygen is produced when plants make food. Animals often use plants for their shelter and their food source. Plants roots help hold the soil together and also help make soil. Plants help humans more than just the oxygen they produce. They also produce food, fibers, medicines, and energy. Animals and humans depend greatly on the roles of plants. (1) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First off, the temperature needs to be right. If it is too high or too low it will result in abdominal development. Flowers and vegetables that grow in different seasons, require a different temperature. Warm season vegetables and flowers grow best in 60o F, 75o F, and 80o F. Cool season vegetables and flowers grow best in 50o F and 70o F. Plants require large amounts of sunlight to grow. Indoor light often does not provide enough intensity. During the hot summer months, plants need at least one half gallon of water each day. If plants do not receive enough water each day, their roots will dry out and they will die. Just like humans, plants also need oxygen to survive. They use oxygen for respiration to carry out their functions. Plants absorb minerals through their roots. They need these minerals to survive. Some of the specific minerals they need is soil, fertilizer, manure, compost, fertilizer salts. Finally, plants need support. Their basic support is soil that surrounds their roots. They also have hydroponically supports that include, strings or stakes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes Dream deferred The poem I will discuss today is Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes it is located on page 620 of the textbook. The theme of this poem is postponing your dreams can lead to destruction in your life. The tone of this poem is uncertainty. The author is very uncertain of what happens to a dream deferred. The two elements of figurative language the author used in this poem to convey the theme are simile and metaphor. The first element of figurative language I will discuss is simile. A simile is when you compare two unlike things using like or as. This is shown multiply times throughout the poem for example it says, Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun. The author is comparing a dream deferred to a dried up raisin a raisin is already dry but if left out in the sun it becomes hard to eat which mean it loses it nutritional purpose. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example of a simile used in the poem was Or fester like a sore and then run? This takes us back to the theme and tone if you have sore you want it to dry up, so it can heal but if it festers and run that means it is infected and will take longer to heal. (Spa.walsingham.org, n.d) . The dream that festers becomes infected with the disease of restlessness and dissatisfaction this may lead to a person striking back at those who are ... This protein was the first fluorescent protein to be discovered and has been highly useful in a broad range of cell biology disciplines; because of it s highly useful reporter genes and the ability to use multicolor protein tracking in living cells it has been useful in many scientific experiments such as E. With so many jeans walking around today, it s easy to forget that their classic indigo color is actually rare in nature. And while modern synthetic dyes have made this deep blue a common color, it wasn t always so. In fact, for centuries, in part because of its rarity, people across cultures and religions went totally bonkers for indigo. Demand for the color sparked trade wars, fueled Trans Atlantic slavery, and for a time the dye was actually used as straight up currency. The indigo craze probably even influenced Newton s original color wheel, even though most color specialists no longer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eventually the liquid was drained, mixed with lye, molded into cakes, dried, and pounded into powder. Dyers could then mix that powder with water and other substances in soaking vats to get the exact purpley blue shade they wanted. India probably cultivated the original commercial supply of Old World indigo that worked it s way around European trade routes during the Greco Roman era. The so called blue gold later became culturally important and highly desired throughout Europe, Japan, and West Africa, before eventually making it s way to the American colonies, where its cultivation and trade helped fund the Revolutionary War effort. Around the turn of 20th century synthetic indigo dye came on scene and decimated the natural dye market. Today most commercial operations use the synthetic indigo, although environmental concerns have reignited an interest in natural, sustainable dyes. Okay, so what does any of this have to do with Newton, you ask? Roberts: Well one thing she s a foreigner, not too familiar with the subtleties of our language. The prosecution could easily trip her up. • 11. Human Aggression In Frankenstein And The Modern Prometheus... The last full novel we read, Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley, touches on human aggression much more directly than Candide or The Overcoat. Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus starts with a create but ends with a monster. The creature suffers an extraordinary amount in an amazingly short timespan. It is essentially the not funny version of Candide. Initially, I felt extreme pity for the creature. His only family left him (i.e., Victor Frankenstein) and he had little knowledge of his world. Even after murdering, I still pitied the creature. Victor, in my opinion, was the real killer and was guilty of negligence that lead to someone dying. Shelley s novel prompted the most logical arguments out of the books we read. Is the creature guilty? And as I have already said, I did not think he was. But as the novel unfolded, I found myself feeling extremely sorry for the monster while simultaneously slowly realizing his guilt in the situation, which makes him a monster. When Victor meets his creation on the mountain is when my opinion started to shift, but when the monster plans revenge on Victor and executes his wife. No amount of ignorance and lack of self control excuses a being from first degree murder, which is willful, deliberate, and premeditated. This self awareness of a reader s own opinion of the monster can measure one s morality and is the true horror of the novel. Yes, all the events that happen the monster are horrific in their own right. But, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The began by discussing the unit that they were completing which was using Greek Mythology to review and analyze student s reading comprehension and summary writing abilities. They stated that their students seemed to be really interested in the unit and did well with the reading comprehension. However, they had noticed that some students were forgetting to state the title and author of the text within the summary and most summaries lacked elaboration, but most students were knowledgeable about the basic structure of a summary. Immigrants In Canada Canada is a country that is known as a mosaic of people and cultures, meaning; it opens it arms to immigrant families and gives them the freedom to express their own cultural values, ideas, beliefs and customs. It is this system that welcomes thousands and thousands of immigrants a year with open arms and the idea of a better life. This idea however, is sometimes not always as easy as it is thought to be. Though Canada is an amazing country for immigrants to start a new life and get better education, health care, and job opportunities, immigrant families are met with many challenges before they are able to become accustom to their new life. It is important to understand the true difficulty of the Immigrant Experience and the impact it has on families including adults as well as children. If it is easier to understand the difficulties immigrant families go through in search of a better life in Canada there can be more resources made to help them. It is important to take into consideration each individual difficulty that is faced and properly research each factor in order to have a better understanding on how to make the complete economic and societal integration of immigrants happen faster. There is a number of categories that relate to the integration of immigrants into society and a number of steps they must take to be a part of Canadian society. In order to understand these steps they have to be thoroughly researched. Language Barriers When immigrants first step into Canadas borders the most obvious challenge they have to face is the barrier that is set immediately due to language differences. Canadas official languages include both English and French these languages arguably are the most difficult languages to learn. In many ways, for immigrants the first step to both economic and societal immigration is learning English. Without learning English and proper English literacy skills there is little chance of getting a well paying job, making connections with people in Canadian society and overall, without English immigrants are unable to communicate with others around them in society during everyday life. Language and Literacy training also relate to immigrant s employability. In a study showing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Plantation system set up a society which consisted of a large, captive lower class and a powerful, wealthy upper class. As the plantation systems became successful labor was needed in order to progress. Slavery became the answer to the problem. • 17. The Mistakes Of Hester Prynne And Monica Lewinsky Public humiliation has changed immensely weighing heavily on the creation of the internet introducing the idea of online cyberbullying as opposed to scaffolding in a town square. As modern society revels in putting people on a public pedestal, the scaffold that Hester Prynne is put onto marks her as no longer a person with feelings, just as a negative figure people look upon to make themselves feel higher. After the news broke of Monica Lewinsky s scandal, people no longer recognized her as a young adult who makes mistakes, but was treated like a person with no emotions and incapable of being affected by her mistakes. As the story went on throughout the internet, she was only represented as a person through the mistake she made just as Hester Prynne was recognized for the crime she committed. After the 1960 s sexual revolution, films started to incorporate women as a more objectified aspect, demonstrated by the visual representation of how they provocatively use their bodies. In this essay we will be specifically examining the male gaze in the 1999 s cult classic, Fight Club from both the protagonist and antagonist view and how we as the audience view ourselves, dissected from the way the characters view themselves. Correlation Between Aerobic And Aerobic Fitness Levels The analysis of the results of the current study demonstrated a significant difference between mean change in pulse rate of subjects able to complete less than and greater than than 25 push ups (p 0.05). The null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternate hypothesis (Ha) retained. This suggests a correlation between aerobic and anaerobic fitness levels in completing high intensity exercise In tests of endurance, aerobic glycolysis is the major source of energy to the body. The body requires energy at a less intense rate; so slower aerobic glycolysis processes are sufficient to provide ATP over an extended time period (Ghosh 2004). Aerobic fitness depends upon many physiological factors, including density of capillary vessels surrounding lung alveoli, number of mitochondria (site of ATP production) in cells and lung capacity (Bogdanis et al. 1996; Tomlin and Wenger 2002; Ghosh 2004). A greater level of aerobic fitness will result in more efficient oxygen use, so oxygenated blood will not need to be circulated at a much higher rate and pulse rate will not increase significantly. Pulse rate is proportional to the energy required by the body (intensity of exercise) in regards to the aerobic capacity of an individual, so heart rate will increase in accordance to the body s increasing energy demand during exercise (Åstrand and Ryhming 1954). In the current study participants undertook a step up endurance activity, in which a pulse rate change was recorded for all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The powerful metaphor embedded in this Buddhist parable serves as the platform for Leo Tolstoy (A Confession) in his quest for meaning. It offers a simplistic illustration of the common predicament faced by all of mankind, to which Tolstoy and fellow thinkers, Sigmund Freud (Civilization and Its Discontents) and C.S. Lewis (The Abolition of Man) attempt to provide a solution. Each thinker offers a unique conclusion based upon their respective definitions of the problem and its perpetuating influences. The thinkers focus their investigation on the authority of science, instinct, and faith. Tolstoy is distinct in his ability to rationalize toward a purpose independent of mankind itself; he alters the circumstances of life rather than man s capability to deal with such circumstances. Freud and Lewis confine their respective reasonings to the continuation and progression of mankind so as to better cope with the predicament of man.
