In many novels the title of the story is more important than most people initially think. It often
reveals important information about the story. The Catcher in the Rye is a title whose significance
gradually becomes apparent as the novel progresses. Written by JD Salinger, The Catcher in the
Rye is a coming of age novel in which the main character, Holden Caulfield, wishes to preserve the
innocence of children. Through the title, this theme is portrayed and emphasized. The title of this
novel takes its name from a line in a poem by the poet Robert Burns.
In the novel, the first clue to the significance of the title that you are introduced to is when a
little boy is singing as he strolls through the park. In chapter 16, Holden listens to a child singing
to himself If a body catch a body coming through the Rye. Holden describes the little boy in terms
of innocence: The kid was swell. He was walking in the street, instead of on the sidewalk, but right
next to the curb. He was making out like he was walking a very straight line, the way kids do, and
the whole time he kept singing and humming. Holden also comments on how the child s parents are
paying no attention to him. To Holden the little boy represents innocence and youth untouched by
adult corruption. Listening to the boy sing makes Holden feel less depressed.

All humans come to a point on whether or not they would like to attend college. College is a
step one takes to further their education in the pursuit of having a career. But is that the only
reason why someone would really choose to go to college? Choosing to become part of a huge or
small community that holds a lot responsibilities is big decision one must think thoroughly about.
They must have a purpose behind it for its rare to see someone say I want to go to collegejust
because I want. Louis Menand, an American writer, has addressed this question with the three
most common theories as to why someone would decide to go to college. His theories will show

The other two portions in this layer are the choroid, the posterior and vascular portion which
supplies blood to all layers and the ciliary body which is a ring of muscles around the lens used
to focus the lens. The lens has a flexible structure that can change shape to precisely focus light on
the retina. The Retina is the very interior layer which consists of two layers. The pigmented outer
layer which absorbs light and prevents scattering. And the Neural layer composed of bipolar cells,
ganglion cells and two types of photoreceptors.
The eye is protected by a cushion of fat and a bony orbit surrounding the eye s anterior part. There
are also accessory structures that protect the eye and help maintain the eye s function. These
accessory structures include the eyelids, eyebrows, lacrimal apparatus, conjunctiva, and the
extrinsic eye muscles. The eyebrows function is to shade the eye from sunlight and keep out
perspiration from reaching the eye. The eyelids contains the nerves that initiate reflex blinking, and
protects the eye s anterior part, because it contains eyelashes at the edges, which prevents debris or
small particles like dust or sand from entering the eye. It also contains lubrication glands to keep the

Honor Bands In The Power Of Music
Ever since I was young I have been singing. At five years old it was Route 66 by John Mayer
because it was featured in the movie Cars. Now, I sing anything from Cantique (a traditional
French choral piece) to Damned for All Time in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. I believe in the
power of music.
Music is something that everybody can relate to and feel. In any honor choir that I have been to,
I always hear that, Music is an international language. It s true, because anyone can relate to
music based on the chords, notes, and energy of the piece. This winter I went down to the
University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and sang in their honor choir for high school students.
