This document provides a schedule and summary of work completed by a student for their Foundation Portfolio in Media Studies. Over several months, the student researched magazines, created plans and designs for a school magazine, and produced content including a front cover, contents page, editorial, and double page spread. They also evaluated their work by answering questions and uploading documents to a WordPress page.

Monday 3st September Today I researched Q magazine and annotated their magazine
cover
Monday 7th September I have selected my chosen magazine xxl, I have started to write
about my target audience
Monday 1414h September I have produced a mind map and mood board for ideas
Monday 21t September I have started my flat plan for my magazine
Wednesday 23h September Completed my flat plan and font styles power point
Friday 25th September I have a deadline of Monday 12th to complete my production plan
and photo shoot plan

2. Friday the 2nd Today I made corrections to my previous work and started to
create a survey on survey monkey. I sent my survey monkey to
my email contacts to get a minimum of 10 replies. I also created a
questionnaire for my friends and family to fill out.
Monday 5th October I started to draw my front cover and mind map my school
magazine. On Photoshop I started to put together my school
magazine front cover by adding a logo, masthead and gradient to
my background.
Half Term
Monday 2nd November I have completed my front cover for my school magazine and
used a checklist to make sure I included all the necessary
conventions. Before half term I was set a headline to complete
this. I have now just started my school magazine contents page.
So far I have put in my masthead logo and my editorial. I have
additionally inserted my main image of my contents page and my
editorial photo.
Monday 9th November I have finished all my prelim tasks. To finish off my contents page
I added sub lines and made sure that it followed the same style
and colour scheme of my front cover.
Monday 16th November I started my main magazine front cover. I used ruler lines to
make a layout of the front cover. I made the alter the background
colour many times, but it resulted in being burgundy. I created
my barcode. I inserted my mask head logo and added cover lines

3. all over the background.
Monday 23rd November I inserted social media logos to my barcode which meant my
front cover was completed. I started my contents page and copied
over the background colour. Because xxl have a separate page for
their editorial I had to do this. I started with my editorial and I
had all ready written the text for homework. Using my pen tool I
inserted it. I used the same font style as my magazine front cover
for my masthead. I inserted my details and placed signature.
Monday 30th December I continued with my editorial and finished it by added peoples
roles and names within the magazine. I started my contents page.
Using the same font style I followed xxl style and used their ‘a
side’. I quick selected Imani using the quick mask tool and placed
her. I also placed my magazine logo and typed out a quote next to
imani.
Monday 7th December I started to make corrections to my planning and research work

Christmas holidays
January 6th I started to create my double page spread on InDesign
January 13th I typed my interview onto word
January 20th I made my pull quote and added my masthead logo
January 27th I made my background more interesting by adding 2 red stripes
across the page
February 2nd I edited and quick selected my image in Photoshop and placed it
into InDesign
February 9th I added my drop capital and added the date and page number at

February 16th I finished my double page spread
February 23rd I started to make corrections to editorial by adding more content
so it fills more of the page
March 1st I made corrections to my contents page by adding more sublines
and more around the structure
March 8th I improved imanis hair on my front cover by adding a mask to
make it look more natural
March 22nd I moved the dates at the bottom of the pages around so my
editorial, contents, and double page spread are the same
April 2nd I added more detail into my location recce and included model
requirements for my photography plan
April 5th I changed the strap line on my front cover to white and I used the
soft focus tool to go around imanis edges
April 10th I added logo on to my double page spread and turned them red to
make the house colours
April 15th I edited my editorial so that every time I mentioned ‘SAS’ I
included my logo and moved my contacts details down
April 20th I upload all my word and PowerPoint document up to my word
press page. First I uploaded them into slide share and then
copied the link into my word press page
April 23rd I put all my evaluation questions into power points with screen
shots
April 25th I uploaded my PowerPoint’s into different media software’s
April 28th I uploaded my evaluation questions in media onto my word press
