Week Beginning Work Completed
Summer Holidays
Monday 7th September Learnt and identified the key features of Q magazine. Researched a
magazine of my choice (We Heart Pop) and started putting the
information found into my Planning and Research PowerPoint.
Monday 14th September Started the production of my audience profile and started thinking
about the target audience for my pop music magazine. I also created my
blog, and started my music magazine mind map and mood board.
Monday 21st September Published first blog post and started my analysis of a contents page and
double page spread of my chosen music magazine. Completed my
second blog post. Also started masthead font styles and magazine flat
plan.
Monday 28th September Completed photography plan, location recce and production plan for my
magazine. Started and completed a survey monkey questionnaire.
Monday 5th October Collected survey results, and presented them in a PowerPoint. Started
hand-drawn drafts. Have also started a mind map for a school magazine
that I will be creating.
Monday 12th October Started Preliminary front cover on Photoshop. Added masthead, social
network links, a barcode and the school logo to my front cover. Used
the yellow and blue colours from the logo.
Monday 19th October Inserted medium close up, deleted background, and inserted issue
number, price and a smaller version of the masthead around the
barcode. Included date in the barcode, and moved social media images
inside the barcode shape. Inserted cover lines, a headline and an image
to support one of the cover lines. Finished my preliminary front cover.
Half Term
Monday 2nd November Started my preliminary task contents page. Used the ruler tool to map
out where everything will go. Inserted editorial, signature, and email
address.
Monday 9th November Inserted twitter logo and twitter name, as well as shapes to show where
the images will go. Inserted first image, cropped down to the
appropriate size, and added more stories to the contents page. Added
the rest of my images, page numbers over the images, and pull quotes
underneath.
Monday 16th November Started main task front cover. Created masthead, using the font style
‘Disco Night’ from www.dafont.com , inserted strapline and main image.
Removed background from main image and inserted film character
image. Added second image and removed background.
Monday 23rd November Added third main image, cover lines and puff promotion to my main
task front cover. I also added the barcode, as well as a white shape
behind, for the issue number, social media logos, date, price and
publisher to go in. I also added images above the barcode, which I took
inspiration from my magazine of inspiration, ‘We Love Pop’.
Monday 30th November Started my main task contents page. Added the images, removed the
background and also added the masthead across the top. Created an
editorial in word, and copied and pasted into a yellow box, as done in
‘We Love Pop’s’ contents page.
Monday 7th December Added the pull quotes underneath each image from the interviews.
Added signature under editorial as well as social media links and
contact information. Also added the content inside a box, similar to that
in ‘We Love Pop’.
Monday 14th December Added the poster images, as well as the patterned bleeds either side of
the contents page. Used the brush tool to create a similar pattern to that
in the shapes at the side of the ‘We Love Pop’ contents page.
Christmas Holidays
Monday 4th January Created 10 interview questions for DPS and
conducted the interview. Created the three
columns on each page in InDesign, ready to insert
the interview.
Monday 11th January Inserted my interview and questions into the
right hand side page. Also inserted two pull
quotes and wrapped the interview around them.
Inserted drop capital in my masthead font style
‘Disco Night’. I also conducted a photo shoot with
my model and chose the image that I felt would
best appeal to my target audience.
Monday 18th January Inserted my image on to the left hand sided page,
but I felt that it didn’t look as good as it could, so I
edited out the background using the quick
selection tool and quick mask mode, duplicated
the image and edited each one different colours.
Monday 25th January I also inserted the same image which was edited
differently onto the right hand sided page, and
arranged the text so it was on top of the image. I
then added rectangles and made them the same
colour as some of the conventions on my front
cover.
Monday 1st February This week, I put a white stroke effect around the
text, to ensure it could be seen above the coral
coloured shapes, as the text is the same colour as
the shapes on the page. I also added a title to the
interview, to ‘inform’ (Katz) the audience who the
interview is with (Taylor Swift – ‘Star Appeal’ –
Richard Dyer). I also added editor and
photographer details above the image.
Monday 8th February Continued to work on my DPS, perfecting the
images. I also used the ‘detect edges’ tool to
enable me to wrap the interview around the
image on the left sided page to make the
magazine pages look more professional and
similar to ‘We Love Pop’. I also completed
question one of my evaluation which I will await
feedback for and while doing so, I will begin
question two.
Monday 22nd February Added the sign off to the interview, encouraging
readers to watch the full interview on my
magazine’s website. I also inserted the social
media logos used on my front cover and contents
page for brand identity, and put Taylor Swift’s
Twitter and Instagram names next to the
corresponding icons. I also completed question
two and made corrections to question one.
Monday 29th February This week, I started questions three and four, and
started making corrections to question two from
my feedback. I also analysed some front covers,
contents pages and double page spreads from a
few different pop music magazines and uploaded
this to my blog page.
Monday 7th March This week, I completed questions three and four
as well as starting question five, which is due on
11th March. I have now completed question five
and started question six, as well as making
corrections to previous questions.
Monday 14th March This week, I completed question six, and started
question seven. I also continued to make
corrections to other questions.
Monday 21st March I have now completed question seven, and
completed the other six evaluation questions, by
making all the corrections from my feedback.
Whilst awaiting feedback for question seven, I can
now start uploading the other questions onto the
desired media.
Monday 28th March After being given feedback for question seven, I
have made all the corrections, and have started to
upload some of the earlier questions into my
chosen medias.
Monday 4th April This week, I have uploaded questions 1-3 into the
desired media. For question one, I uploaded it
onto a website called www.emaze.com. For
question two, I created a prezi, and for question
three I created a stupeflix video. These are now
ready to be uploaded onto my blog page.
Monday 11th April I have now also uploaded questions four and five
into my chosen media for each question. I chose
to create a YouTube video for question four, and
uploaded a PowerPoint to slide share for question
five.
Monday 18th April I have now completed uploading all my evaluation
questions into the chosen medias, which are now
ready to upload onto my blog page. For questions
six and seven, I created another prezi.
Monday 25th April This week, I made all the final corrections to
planning and research work, magazine pages, and
evaluation questions. I also uploaded all my work
on to my blog page.
