Mizzou Columns Research Paper
Rumor has it that the six columns left standing on the University of Missouri Columbia stand for the
six virgins that graduate a year; however, this is completely offensive and obviously incorrect. Some
people even go on to say that the columns left standing were a part of a conspiracy theory to burn
down the university. Nonetheless, the columns are actually an iconic symbol of the university. The
Mizzou columns do not only have a rich history, but also have a connection with the land institution to
the community, students, and others in various ways: the tiger walk, the tiger prowl, tap day, the
representation of the first land institution in Missouri, and a place where students can speak freely.
These columns are not only renowned in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is where the community is connected to the institution. Being the first land institution of Missouri
is a huge achievement because it is an opportunity for higher education. In 1839, the community of
Boone County raised money to open up the first public university in the city of Columbia to offer a
higher education to students. First, in 1842, there was an art program started by George Caleb
Bingham. Then, in 1849, the first engineering class was taught. Now, the College of Engineering is
very renowned with the work it is with its students. Moreover, in 1867, the College of Education was
introduced to MU. Subsequently, more and more programs are added to broaden the opportunities at
the university ( History of the University of Missouri ). Notably, Mizzou is home to many diverse
programs and schools. To reiterate, the columns serve the purpose of higher education offered to the
public because they were originally attached to the first building here on campus: Academic Hall.
With this being said, the columns have been a part of the university since the beginning where
everything started; therefore, they were not randomly built as a monument for this school. These
objects are historical a landmark of the first institution west of the

Russian Revolution After World War I Essay
For many revolutions people may argue different reasons why that particular revolution was caused,
but there often one that is the primary cause. The Russian Revolution began February 1917, many
people in Russia lost faith in their government, especially since they had not done so well to begin
with when they participated in World War I. Which resulted in a lot of expenses. Others may argue
that since Tsar was an unproductive leader and because of the decisions he made when he was in
power that influenced the Russian Revolution. Although Tsar s weak leadership may have influenced
the Russian Revolution, World War I was the main cause of the Russian Revolution because it
destroyed the economy, which led to riots and many people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Russia struggled to provide food for its populations. Citizens took control into their own hands,
Ludovic Naudeau wrote in October 1917, One morning recently I was awakened by the cries of my
neighbor in the next room. His boots had been stolen. The same day the manager of a newspaper
office told me that he had been robbed six of pairs of pantaloons, ... Four hundred thefts every night!
he cried; that is the average for the last two weeks, (One Aspect of Bolshevist Liberty). Russia could
not even uphold itself because the economy was not successful compared to other countries. This led
people to desire a change in the government; therefore this led to the Russian Revolution. People went
to different maters to get what they wanted such as stealing since they were not getting the aid that
they needed and they needed financial support. This caused them to protest against their government
because many people from the lower class could not take care of their families. This cause led to a
greater impact compared to Tsarist weak authority. Some may argue Tsar Nicholas weak leadership
help contributes to the Russian Revolution but World War I was be the primary cause. Tsar Nicholas
was not the best leader but that did not have a big enough impact to cause the Russia Revolution
because his actions did not lead to as many problems that World War I had caused. World War I had a
greater impact because it led to many problems within Russia that caused the citizens to be furious.

Imagery Of Joseph Wiesel s Night
Imagery of Dehumanization in Night
Hate begins to grow, and in the case of the Holocaust, this incessant hatred led to the identification of
all Jews, the deportation of millions of people from their homes, the concentration in the camps, and
extermination of entire families and communities at once. For nearly a decade, Jews, prisoners of war,
homosexuals, and the disabled were rounded up, sent off to camps, and systematically slaughtered in
unimaginably inhumane ways. Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor, shares his experiences at Auschwitz
in the book Night, which reveals the true extent of inhumanity in both the Nazis and the Jews. In Elie
Wiesel s Night, Wiesel uses imagery of his experiences before and while being in the concentration
camp in order to develop his theme of dehumanization of both the Jews and the Nazis during the
Holocaust. The first instance of dehumanization of the Jews appears in the very beginning of the book,
where Elie remembers the evenings he spent studying the cabbala with Moche the Beadle, who, was
as awkward as a clown. He made people smile, with his waiflike timidity. I loved his great, dreaming
eyes, their gaze lost in the distance (Wiesel 13). However, a day comes where Moche, a foreign Jew of
Sighet, has to be expelled from the country. The Jews of Sighet, kept in the dark about the true
intentions of the Nazis, are left to ponder the whereabouts of the expelled foreigners and quickly
forget about them. But when Moche returns to the

Bilingual Education Policy Analysis
Bilingual education policies in the Unites States have been influenced by many factors. These factors
range from the different attitudes towards languages in general and the controversy that bilingual
education creates among interested parties, to the relation between state and federal level language
policies. All of these factors together, along with a number of historical events, have contributed, in
one way or another, in shaping the country s policies of teaching language minority students
(Crawford, 2004; Johnson Johnson, 2015; Ruiz, 1988).
Before proceeding to the discussion of each factor, we may begin with a definition of what bilingual
education is. According to the Education Commission of the States website (2015), bilingual
education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Johnson and Johnson (2015) point out that the nation level language policies are affected by the way
each state interprets and implements them. For instance, the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) in
2002, has been implemented in Arizona State in a way that resulted in reinforcing the English only
programs that are already in it. While the same act resulted in a notable growth in other non English
programs in Washington State. The interpretation and application of the NCLB Act in both Arizona
and Washington states played a significant role both cases in determining the type of education in the
public schools in both states (Johnson Johnson, 2015, p. 93). This, as a matter of fact, shows that the
federal level language policies, NCLB here, empower states roles in deciding the most suitable
approach to follow in the implementation

Violence, Foolishness, And Impulsiveness In The Knight s Tale
The Knight s Tale is one of many tales from the Canterbury Tales. This story sets in the city of Athens.
Which opens into the theme of violence, foolishness, impetuousness, and impulsiveness; initially
exceedingly emotional responses. One example is when two of our main characters, Palmon and
Arcite, both fall in love with Theseus s sister in law (Emelye). These two blood brothers, leave each
other after seeing Emelye out of the window of the tower. Which, I believe is a very impulsive
decision, for they have not got time to know who she is and her personality. Also, they act like mortal
enemies after just seeing her, so this thought process was completely impulsive and based on her
looks. And later, Arcite tries to get to know her better after he was released from his imprisonment
sentence by disguising himself, so he can take a job as a page in Emelye s chamber. I believe this
shows that he wants to know her, but also it shows he is not being honest with her, which shows he
was being impulsive and deceiving. He only learned about the little things that she liked, not her
personality. Emelye learned a little bit about Arcite after the little conversing they shared, so they
learned a little of each other s personality. This shows that the friendship was growing and not an
intimate relationship, like Arcite wanted. So the story goes on and both Palmon and Arcite have been
released from prison. And they happen to both decide to wander in the woods. Then they confront
each other, each claiming the right to Emelye. The next day, they were brutally hacking away at each
other. Honestly, I believe they are being impulsive and violent, they still barely knew Emelye
(especially Palmon), and they decide to go kill each other. Then here shows up Theseus, which a
loving and wise duke, but he can also be a little impulse when it comes to violence (which is fairly
normal for a duke in the 1390s). Theseus tries to be loving when he sees the two men fighting, but he
changes his mind when he found out it was Palmon and Arcite fighting. And that they were fighting
because they love Emelye. Then Theseus was about to respond by killing them, but his loving wife
and Emelye intervened, pleading for their lives. They pleaded

How Beowulf Is A Hero
Beowulf; a man whose greatness begun when he saved an entire kingdom from the clutches of the vile
monster Grendel. Beowulf was known for countlessly putting his body and his life on the line to save
his people. His courage and determination is what kept his legacy alive for all of these years. Not only
that, but the respect he had for the people around him made him a remembered warrior as well. That s
what I think makes a hero. Being determined to get a job done, having the courage to step in and
complete that job, and having enough respect for your people to still obey their wishes despite your
apparent fame. The hero I will be writing about is the fictional Marvel Comics character known as the
Black Panther (real name T Challa). He and Beowulf ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Time and time again, the Black Panther must represent his nation in front of the entire globe. Because
of this, everyone has knowledge of the Black Panther a.k.a T Challa. Black Panther s respect for his
people is shown particularly when Wakanda was invited to a very important panel that would be aired
in front of the world. This panel would include the likes of Reed Richards, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers,
and many more Big Name heroes. Panther brought along two colleagues from Wakanda to sit with
him on the panel Okoye and Nareema. When the panel intensified, it was the Black Panther turn to
offer up some resolutions. During this moment, Okoye and Nareema suggested some of their thoughts
to T Challa and the rest of the panel. Even though Stark and company tried to downplay their
suggestions, their King stepped up for them, allowing their points to be heard worldwide. No you may
not Mr. Stark, my companions will be heard! Because of T Challa s respect, he enabled Okoye and
Nareema to cultivate a sensible solution, which was eventually used to help prevent an oncoming
conflict. The Black Panther is such a great hero because he utilizes these three traits effectively. When
he sees a problem he has the courage to confront it. And no matter how much the tides seem to be
turning against him, he s always determine to find a way to save his kingdom! But what really makes
heroes like Beowulf and the Black Panther remembered, is the respect they have for those around
them. Using these three traits, their legacies will never

The World Labor Market
The stabilization of the labor supply created the world market labor (Lecture, February 25, 2014). For
example, this resulted in millions of people to come to America and involve themselves in working for
our country. However, migrants tend to always get paid little amounts which does not really help them
out the way that they need or hope for but they stick around anyways.
In addition, increased migration primarily helps the government s economic state. For instance, the
United States has a large labor market. There are numerous tasks that need to be competed on a daily
basis. By hiring migrants they are able to pay them extremely little compared to the profits that are
being made. Which means the government s economy is highly dependent on global workers
(Robinson,267). This is why emigrants can be seen as heroes. And they should be treated with
decency because dependent countries such as the US cannot afford to lose them (Robinson,267).
In the article by Alejandro Portes, he explains that capital being global and labor being local is nothing
new. That the modern world system has grown because of the abroad labor system occurring.
(Portes,152). He also mentions that the process of transnational communities in the world system
resulted in many advantages. However, he says those advantages are entirely on the side of those able
to...thus turning globalization into the final apotheosis of capital... (Portes, 152). Overall a global
capitalist society secures the economy of

Managerial Accounting And The Certified Management
Managerial accounting is used by an organization to ensure informed decisions are made regarding
current and future operations. Businessmen and women must have the ability to comprehend financial
information provided to properly determine the correct course of action. In the global market of today,
an organization s inability to accurately determine the best course of action can lead to financial ruin
for the company. Uninformed decisions by leadership can derail a business prospects for success in
the future. Business leaders must understand the differences between managerial and financial
accounting, additional information needed for internal purposes, the evolution of managerial
accounting, and the Certified Management (CMA) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is preparing next year s budget in the current year so leaders are informed of any
constraints in the upcoming year. Documents created in financial accounting must adhere to
regulations such as GAAP and IFRS. Once completed, these documents are verified by a certified
public accountant (CPA) annually. These reports are summaries of the organization s performance as a
unit and concentrate on sufficient disclosure of required information. Managerial accounting
documents are not regulated by guiding principles. They are generally presented in a cost benefit
analysis format. There is no audit of these documents as they are for internal use only. These reports
are more detailed than the documents in financial accounting and often provide performance
information on each department and shift of an organization over a relatively short time frame. The
goal of this information is to provide any course corrections before issues or problems become out of
control. These differences in the sectors of accounting lead to a difference in the need and use of
information for internal purposes.
Since managerial accounting is intended for different recipients than financial accounting, the type of
information needed and used in managerial accounting is different. Managerial accounting involves
cost management, activity management, and investment management. Cost accounting is a shared
input between financial and management accounting. The information

Ancient Egypt Math
Abstract: This article discusses Ancient Egyptian Mathematics and the discovery of the Rosetta Stone
which opened a door to the treasures of Ancient Egyptian. Egyptians had a great amount of knowledge
in mathematics whether it was in arithmetic, fractions, algebra, geometry or even measurement. It still
remains a mystery of how they reached their mathematical conclusions but there exist records which
contain collections of mathematical exercises. We shall study the Egyptian number system and its
symbols. We will also take a closer look at their different computation methods regarding multiplying
and dividing. Introduction There has always been a level of fascination amongst people when it came
to the Egyptian culture. People have pondered upon the skill and calculations it took to build the great
pyramids of Giza. There is an abundance of evidences in the architecture and design of many Egyptian
artifacts to display the level of intelligence and knowledge the people of Egypt possessed. Even

The Sampling Approach
One of the strengths of the sampling approach is that the external validity is strong for the population
of interest: the sample is randomly selected from veterans with PTSD all over the United States. The
external validity is not strong for individuals who do not suffer from PTSD, or for individuals who do
not live in the United States, as they are not included in the study. The random assignment of the study
is also a strength, as this will help reduce sampling error and increase generalizability (Rubin Babbie,
2016). Lastly, the compensation for completing the study could also be viewed as a strength, as it is
likely to increase the amount of participation; a larger sample is beneficial as it will yield more results
and make the study more general to the population of interest (Rubin Babbie, 2016).
Research Design The name of the design is: experimental treatment pretest posttest comparison
design. After the participants are randomly selected for one of the four groups (one to receive PE, one
to receive CPT, one to receive both PE and CPT, and one that does not receive an intervention), they
are then administered the Posttraumatic Cognitions Inventory scale (Foa et al., 1999). The
Posttraumatic Cognitions Inventory scale is used to measure PTSD symptoms, including frequency of
dissociative reactions, recurrent distressing dreams, negative alterations in cognitions and mood, and
marked alterations in arousal and reactivity, and is a reliable and valid scale (Foa et

Jean Twenge Generation Me
How many times has your phone gone off in a period of an hour? In today s interconnected world
where posting a selfie can be done in seconds, it is not difficult to see why Jean Twenge, author of
Generation Me, and other critics of Millennial behavior could see them as being narcissistic. Looking
at social media networks, the average number of selfies posted or status updates on even the most
mundane daily activities is remarkable. Are these true signs of a rise in narcissism in today s youth or
just normal self expression made possible through technology? For the purpose of this essay we will
discuss why some of the actions taken by millennials could have led to them being labeled narcissistic.
First let s look at the definition of narcissism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pointing out that much of the volunteering that is done by millennials is not coming from within, but
is mostly attributed to the fact that colleges take community service into consideration for admission
and more high schools are making it a requirement for graduation. This is taking a small sample of the
millennial population and not looking at the whole. According to William Strauss and Neil Howe,
authors of Will the Real Gen Y Please Stand Up , A healthy civic indicator is the boom in youth
volunteering, a finding the Egos study discounts because so many high schools require community
service. But other indicators point to the same positive trend. Voting rates for Americans 25 and
younger have surged since the late 1990 s. According to the UCLA College Freshman survey, 76% of
new college arrivals, a record high, now say that raising a family is a very important goal and a record
low, only 27%, agree that realistically, there is little an individual can do to change society. Therefore
argument can be made that millennials are far more civic minded than previous generations which has
been evident in the last two presidential elections. The fact is millennials are a generation who believe
that they can change the world and are actively trying to do

fact that we are part of the truth that we condemn. Mrs. Hutchinson for instance, for quite a long time
had the insight that the lottery was never the right thing to prevail but he never did anything up until
when it dawn to her that it was her turn to face the wrath of lottery did she turn out a loud cry
(Oehlschlaeger 250). Male domineering is very much evident in the way events are conducted and that
is very clear an observation according to every writer. Women have no say in the choices men make
on behalf of and upon them. However, according to Mohammed, if a feminine view is adopted while
reading through this story, one would end up holding to the view that women are more powerful than
men in the society. Oehlschlaeger (2013) asserts that it is difficult to comprehend the need to bring to
an end such brutal acts of celebrations, which demean the value of human life. This is the missing
discussion in the other articles and the authors were not able to prescribe a way to see the tradition die
out. The discussion all along is centered on how this was conducted and no author has critiqued the
same course of celebrations. What is not clear though is whether this lottery will come to an end
someday considering the fact some neighboring communities have chosen to let go this tradition. That

A Correlation Between Telomere Length And Chronic Disease
During each and every cell replication, chromosomes shrink by a small, but noticeable amount.
Because of this, telomeres cap the ends to protect the coding regions of the chromosomes. With each
generation of DNA, more and more of the telomere disappears. An enzyme slowly rebuilds them, but
it cannot keep up with the degradation during chromosome replication. Eventually the shortened
telomeres cause the cell to go through apoptosis (Pierce 2014). Because telomeres are one cause of
cell death, it is hypothesized that telomere size can determine the health and age of an individual.
Research has shown a correlation between telomere length and chronic disease. Those with chronic
diseases usually have significantly shorter telomeres. This raises ... Show more content on

Telomeres are related to so many different aspects of our bodies because they play a key role in
protecting our genetic make up. They are important structures in every cell of our body. Because of
their role, their effect spreads well beyond that of simply protecting chromosomes.
Structure and Function
Telomeres make up the tips of linear chromosomes and function to protect and stabilize the
chromosomes from degradation (Pierce 2014). There are other functions, but the primary one is
protection. At each replication, DNA shortens by just a few base pairs due to the nature of replication
in eukaryotes (who have linear chromosomes). The two strands of DNA are synthesized at different
rates, creating a leading strand and a lagging strand. The leading strand is replicated quickly and
fluidly in a 5 to 3 direction, as seen in Image 1. The lagging strand is replicated in a backstitch patter.
Primers are placed along the DNA strand and DNA polymerase replaces them with segments of DNA.
It can only do this, though, if a 3 OH group is present. The 3 OH group precedes the primer, and
would sit just to the right of the green primers in Image 1. No 3 OH group would be present at the end
of the chromosome because it only exists on one side of the primer. The area where the primer is
sitting would not be replicated, and thus the DNA would shorten. Tandem sequences of noncoding
DNA sit at the ends of the

Augustine’s Conception of Sin in Confessions
In this paper I will write about Augustine and his thoughts and ideas on sin in the Confessions, where
sin originates and whether or not I believe that Augustine s conception of sin has a place in modern
society. From all of this I will conclude that through Augustine s work and findings, Augustine s
conception of the human person and their human actions are somewhat relevant today, due to the fact
Augustine set a standard for what human nature is, known as the ability to desire, think and do, yet,
people see the human differently today than Augustine did. At the same time his ideas of original sin
and how the evil nature of humans is associated with original sin are still very relevant today.
Augustine is our exemplar to human nature, as well as the guideline to what it means to be human. He
demonstrates both the good and bad qualities that humans obtain and show that not everything can
always be all good. In the Confessions Augustine talks about how he knows about his own
imperfections. He states At one time in adolescence I was burning to find satisfaction in hellish
pleasures (Augustine, Confessions, pg. 24). Many of his imperfections have brought a new way of
thinking about the human being. In the Confessions, Augustine focuses on his autobiography and how
sin comes from inside us humans. From this we have learned about the term introspective conscience
and how it depicts when someone is constantly looking at him or herself and looking at the motivation
to sin.

reality graduation wasn t the end it was only the beginning to my future. In 2017 America owes a little
over 1.3 trillion dollars in student loans which I think is astonishing. After analyzing the writings of
Dwyer, Holt and Adams it s safe to say that the writers all had 3 wide spectrums of their thoughts on
our education system. In my eyes a good education consists of two factors: a strong base of a wide
spread knowledge and the ability to put that knowledge to use regardless of the circumstances.
Furthermore, while all three writers had excellent points to their arguments all their methods seemed
to lack any room for any additional input. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After graduation, I couldn t believe that after spending twelve years of my life in school how
unprepared I was to face adulthood from simple things such as writing checks and crafting a resume to
deciding on a major that would provide a steady income and bright future. Schools today focus more
on standardized testing and covering the material the state mandates for the course than fostering a
student s curiosity and individual

The Evil Sorcerous Pursue Of Seaweed
The Finman was out in the water, close to shore hunting for his prey. He spotted the lone female
walking along the beach. His dark eyes searched the shore to see if she was with another human. It
seems she is out here on her own. The evil sorcerous shape shifter floats to shore as a harmless piece
of seaweed. Seaweed was something no one would think twice about. As the Finman floated to shore,
he waited till the female walked past the seaweed. He rose up to stand in his humanoid form. At seven
feet tall, he was gauntly built and had a dark countenance on his harsh face. Without the human aware
he was behind her, he grabbed her from behind. She shrieked like a banshee and thrashed her arms and
legs. The Finman used his fist to

Death Of The Butterflies Patria Quotes
That moment, I understood her hatred. My family had not been personally hurt by Trujillo, just as
before losing my baby, Jesus had not taken anything away from me. But others had been suffering
great losses (Alvarez, 1994, p. 53). This quote had been stated by Patria in relation to religion.
I had heard, but I had not believed. Snug in my heart, fondling my pearl, I had ignored their cries of
desolation. How could our loving, all powerful Father allow us to suffer so? I looked up, challenging
Him. And the two faces had merged! (Alvarez, 1994, p. 53)
This image illustrates how Trujillo s system truly brunts the lives of Patria, her sisters, and their fellow
people. To them, Trujillo is almost godlike. He usually gives them arcane commandments, smites
those who contravene his power, and is delimited by wealth. Patria shows her disbelief in how
callously God is behaving toward her because of her child s death. Throughout In the Time of the
Butterflies, Julia Alvarez s Patria Mirabal develops from an optimistic young Catholic girl to a woman
who doubts; subsequently, that educators can further come to understand the influence of God on one
s actions.

It is the Lord s will, I agreed, but the words sounded hollow to my ear (Alvarez, 1994, p. 53). Patria
begins to doubt the religion she had been raised upon, and basically lived off of subsequent to the
passing away of her baby. Before losing her baby, Patria had never felt personally affected by Trujillo
since he had been from a prosperous family. On the other hand, after experiencing a loss, she begins to
feel compassion. Alvarez uses this excerpt to inform educators that although one is taught moral
behavior as an adolescent, it is up to the individual to steadily exemplify good behavior throughout
their future

What Is The Relationship Between Sir Gawain And The Green...
Knights and shining armor, is a modern day description of knights. These knights road on horseback,

means the ideals, virtues, or characteristics of knights, (Velde). There is one specific knight who
shows this code in the story, Sir Gawain and The Green Knight. The knight is Gawain, a noble and
courageous man who makes a deal with the Green Knight. The story Sir Gawain and The Green
Knight shows chivalry by respect, strength, and honesty.

In the story, he and the Green Knight have a deal where Gawain can either cut the Green Knight s
head, or slice it completely off. Whichever he chooses, Gawain must find the Green Knight a year
later and the Green Knight gets to return the favor . Furthermore, the story explains, Gawain grips his
ax and gathers it aloft...brought it down deftly upon the bare neck...and cut the flesh cleanly and clove
it in twain...the head was hewn off and fell to the floor, (page 176, lines 192 198). Gawain decides to
slice off the Green Knight s head; however, the Green Knight is still alive, for he is magical. Although
he is still alive, Gawain has to use his strength to slice the Green Knight s head off. This is just one
more way Gawain shows chivalry, through strength.
The story also mentions the idea of chivalry by displaying honesty. Honesty, once again, is one of the
main factors in the knight s code. In the article, The Tenets of Chivalry The Knights Codeen, lightens,
A Knight doesn t make promises lightly, but once he gives his word, he always keeps it, (VR

promise he made with the Green Knight. He stays honest to his word and promise in the deal and
heads to the knight s house. Before he does so, king Arthur has a celebration for Gawain winning the
challenge. He then informs Gawain, Now

The 1960 Presidential Election
Kennedy is generally considered to have won the national popular vote by 112,827, a margin of 0.17%
(although the unusual nature of the election in Alabama has caused some to question this figure)[2]
and though Nixon carried more individual states (26 to 22),[3] Kennedy won a 303 to 219 Electoral
College victory.
The 1960 presidential election was the closest election since 1916, which can be explained by a
number of factors.[4] Kennedy benefited from the economic recession of 1957 58, which hurt the
standing of the incumbent Republican Party, and he had the advantage of 17 million more registered
Democrats than Republicans.[5] Furthermore, the new votes that Kennedy, the first Roman Catholic
president, gained among Catholics almost neutralized

Leader: Subway franchisees have found a way to ensure a safe and consistent supply chain by using
an Internet based supply management system. Subway s Independent Purchasing Cooperative, which
is owned by the chain s North American franchisees, has been using supply chain software since the
end of 2001 and rolled out the food quality component, called Qualitynet, in 2004. Miami based IPC
manages the supply chain from manufacturers through the distribution centers and into the 24,000
stores. Its responsibilities include negotiating pricing, maintaining relationships and managing quality.

By adding lightweight items such as straws and napkins, it was able to cube out the loads and bring an
end to the shipping of air. The third source of innovation for IPC and Subway lay in the production
and shipping of bread. Rapid growth in the number of stores was putting a strain on the old system,
with bakeries running at 110 percent capacity in the summer months. IPC knew it had to add bread
plants; the only question was where. Working with C.H. Robinson, the company analyzed the location
of its current plants and DCs, devising multiple what if scenarios to come up with the most efficient
network and lowest landed cost. One new bread plant in Tolleson, Ariz., operated by Southwest
Baking, deployed state of the art, fully automated systems to allow for increased production and
greater flexibility in volumes. Other facilities were built in Austin, Tex., Columbia, S.C. and Centralia,
Wash. The new network, with plants closer to the source, allowed Subway s vendors to double the
efficiency of bread line capacity while improving product quality, Clabby says. IPC and C.H.
Robinson reevaluate the bread sourcing plan each year, taking into account changes in manufacturing
costs, bakery capacity, volume commitments, market demand and cost per case. IPC works closely
with Subway s marketing and product development managers to support new demand. The $5 foot
long promotion, for example, led to a 20 percent increase in sales. That caused a 48 percent

Vaulting In Macbeth
In Act 1 of Shakespeare s Macbeth, the characters of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are identified as
husband and wife. The relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth comes into understanding
from the very start. One must depict how close the couple were, the evidence that Macbeth sends a
letter in anticipation to his wife is evident of how Macbeth trusts his wife. My dearest wife, partner in
greatness (1:5:10 11). Even with so much love and affection there are some major differences in
ambition between both the characters. One major difference is the vaulting ambition of the Macbeths,
when compared Lady Macbeth seems to have a more vaulting ambition, Come, you spirits That tend

However Lady Macbeth did this and hence proved her more vaulting and deadly ambition. Though
Lady Macbeth ambition is more vaulting, both share the same purpose to take over the crown. If it
were done when tis done, then twere well It were done quickly. (1:5:1 2). It is here when we see the
brave Macbeth start to crumble towards his fall. Macbeth superego is something that was never
controlled by Lady Macbeth, she never had a superego, that when her ambition awakened nothing
could stop her. .... you shall put This night s great business into my dispatch . (1:6:66 67). Even
Macbeth, who is known for his bravery is not harsh enough to commit this heinous act. This shows
how vaulting her ambition is compared to Macbeth. The immorality of Lady Macbeth, is Macbeth s
moral mistrust. If good, why do I yield to that suggestion (1:3:133) , I have no spur To prick the sides
of my intent, but only vaulting ambition (1:7:25 26). Macbeth s good nature is in conflict against his
vaulting ambition to claim the throne at any cost. However, once again he is pleased by Lady

Animal Experimentation Should Be Used For Research
For several years, supporters and scientists have been arguing about whether the practice of animals
research should be used. Many people believe animals are needed for research, while others think it is
not fair for animals to be sacrificed and treated poorly during research. Animals used for research has
bettered many human lives by new discoveries and advantages. Many people such as doctors,
scientists, hospitals, research institutes use animal research to view how the human body works and to
advance in scientific understanding. The first animal experiment started in the UK in the late 17th
century with Harvey s experiments on several species to demonstrate blood circulation. Even greek
physicians such as Aristotle and Erasistratus has performed experiments on living things between the
years 384 322 BC and 304 258 BC.
Animal experimentation should still be used for research because it has greatly benefited many human
lives that has been saved making all the animal testing worth it.
Animal experimentation have been used for testing and developing new ways for disease treatments.
Many scientist believe they share the same disease as humans such as high blood pressure, cancer and
lots of other common diseases. Cancer is one of the treatments that have been developed by animal
testing. Due to Animal testing, survival cancer has doubled in last 40 years, reducing thousands of
people dying quicker and giving them the time to spend it with their love ones. Without animal

Summary Of Penelope Landlow s Hold Me Like A Breath
They Said She Couldn t. So She Did
There are two families in Penelope Landlow s life. The Family, which is an illegal business run by her
father that sells organs on the black market, and her family, who are scared to even let her leave the
property in fear of losing their precious daughter. It is dangerous enough for a normal child, like
Penny s brother, Carter, to go out into the public when the FBI are against him, but for Penny, going
out into the real world would be walking to her death. Her rare blood disorder leaves Penny at the
mercy of bruises, appearing because of anything from a too tight hug to a sharp corner. While the
world is deemed too dangerous for her by her parents, Penelope still dreams of going to New York
City. After years of waiting, Penelope finally attains what she wants just not the way she wants it.
When tragedy strikes the Landlow family, Penny has no choice but to flee to New York. There, she
discovers the truth to her family s murder, reveals secrets that could change her life s path, and falls in
love. Tiffany Schmidt writes about Pennyś brave journeys, her strongest moments, and her greatest
faults in Hold Me Like a Breath. While Penny is fragile, sometimes her bravery and determination
make up for that in her difficult life. There are far too many needles in my life. Far, far too many
bruises (Schmidt 4). Because of a rare blood disorder allowing Penny to bruise easily, she is
considered too fragile to lead the Family business, or

Problems With Battling Malware Have Been Discussed, Moving...
Now that issues with battling malware have been discussed, moving to solutions is the next step.
Utilizing deobfuscation, especially through signature analysis, has already been discussed to its fullest
potential. New methods include CPU analyzers, holograpy, eigenvirus detection, differential fault
analysis, the growing grapes method, and whitelist protection. These are more general approaches and
therefore do not rely on storing certain specific characteristics of the code of malware and tend to
analyze behavior. Due to the extreme focus on deobfuscation, these ideas have only been explored
fairly recently and are currently underdeveloped. As was stated in the previous section, CPU analyzers
are a possible valid method of detecting malware. While it can be unreliable alone, O Kane et al.
believe it can be a good preliminary detection method for metamorphic malware due to high CPU
processing times (2011). The main issue is valid processes may trigger a warning with this type of
detection. This is why it must be paired with another detection method. A newer study examines a type
of anti malware called holography. Dai, Fyodor, Wu Huang, and Kuo, researchers at the National
Taiwan University and the Research Center for Information Technology Innovation in Taipei, state
that holography utilizes CPU analysis and memory instructions in order to analyze malware and detect
infections (2012). However, this method is, in general, more useful currently as an analysis method

Critical Appreciation Of Waiting For Godot
On Thursday the 12, I attended the performance of the play Waiting for Godot at the Fannin
Performance Hall. This play was centered around two friends Vladimir and Estragon who are in the
conquest of meeting someone named Godot; throughout their adventure, you meet various characters
that influence the story and it also it makes the two main characters and their views on life pop out as
well as their actions and words. At the beginning, both Vladimir and Estragon were confused on
where they were and who exactly they were going to meet they are usually played with Irish accents
the play has a political undertone meaning that everything that is said and the way that is said has
often a double meaning. In the play you find a variety of archetypes and the way that they fit in the
script is very impressive because these archetypes have direct contact with each other, and although
they are all on the same platform meaning that you can see that Pozzo is better off than the duo and he
is obviously in a better socioeconomic position than they are but he doesn t treat them as animals
although he does treat them as inferior he doesn t treat them like he treats lucky. This is an important
because on the political and social side of the play it is the very way that rich treat the poor or the way
that a cast system comes into confrontation you see how much Pozzo has in comparison to others and
you wonder why he couldn t offer them food you can ask yourself a lot of these kinds of

The Theme of Hope in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
In Alexander Solzhenitsyn s novel One Day in the Life of
Ivan Denisovich, the strong themes of hope and perseverance are
undercut by the realization that for Ivan there is little or no
purpose in life. This is not to say that the themes of hope and
perseverance do not exist in the novel. There are numerous
instances in the novel where Shukhov is filled with hope.
However, these moments of hope amidst the banal narrative of the
novel raise the interesting question: Are these moments of hope
pointless? The answer to this question may lie more in the
individual human nature of the reader than in Solzhenitsyn s

Much of the Soviet leadership despised
Solzhenitsyn because he instilled within the Soviet people much
of the same hope that is visible in Ivan Denisovich Shukhov.
Solzhenitsyn gave people hope:
Solzhenitsyn s literary mission, the process of giving
voice to the tens of millions of victims of Soviet
terror, went on secretly, even collectively. Much of
Gulag was based on the hundreds of letters and memoirs
that former prisoners mailed to Solzhenitsyn after One
Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich was published.
Andropov had an intuitive sense that this new work
could do as much, in its way, to undermine Soviet power
as all the nuclear arsenals in the West. (Remnick 118)
Solzhenitsyn uses the every day occurrences of Ivan Denisovich
Shukhov s life to accentuate this point about humanity.
Shukhov s day began with reveille. Shukhov never slept through
reveille but always got up at once. That gave him about an hour
and a half to himself before the morning roll call (Solzhenitsyn
1). This short amount of time at the beginning of the day was
precious because it was the only time during the day, except for
a few minutes in the evening, that the prisoners had to
themselves. This short amount of time provided hope for the
prisoners in a number of ways. It was a time when anyone who
knew what was what in the camps could always scrounge

The Maine Lobster Festival
The Maine Lobster Festival is located in the western part of the state and is known for their delicious
lobster, lobster type foods, and the World s Largest Lobster Cooker. There is roughly 80,000 people
that visit this festival every year because it won an award in a magazine stating it was one of the best
food themed festivals in the world. I remember the first time I tried lobster, before, I was very
suspicious about sea food but my friend recommended that I try it and I have loved it since. Lobster is
known for being a high class meal, but in the 1800 s it was fed to the low class and inmates. Some
states even made it a law that they cannot have lobster more than once a week because it is considered
cruel and unusual punishment. In Maine,

  • 2. Mizzou Columns Research Paper Rumor has it that the six columns left standing on the University of Missouri Columbia stand for the six virgins that graduate a year; however, this is completely offensive and obviously incorrect. Some people even go on to say that the columns left standing were a part of a conspiracy theory to burn down the university. Nonetheless, the columns are actually an iconic symbol of the university. The Mizzou columns do not only have a rich history, but also have a connection with the land institution to the community, students, and others in various ways: the tiger walk, the tiger prowl, tap day, the representation of the first land institution in Missouri, and a place where students can speak freely. These columns are not only renowned in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where the community is connected to the institution. Being the first land institution of Missouri is a huge achievement because it is an opportunity for higher education. In 1839, the community of Boone County raised money to open up the first public university in the city of Columbia to offer a higher education to students. First, in 1842, there was an art program started by George Caleb Bingham. Then, in 1849, the first engineering class was taught. Now, the College of Engineering is very renowned with the work it is with its students. Moreover, in 1867, the College of Education was introduced to MU. Subsequently, more and more programs are added to broaden the opportunities at the university ( History of the University of Missouri ). Notably, Mizzou is home to many diverse programs and schools. To reiterate, the columns serve the purpose of higher education offered to the public because they were originally attached to the first building here on campus: Academic Hall. With this being said, the columns have been a part of the university since the beginning where everything started; therefore, they were not randomly built as a monument for this school. These objects are historical a landmark of the first institution west of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Russian Revolution After World War I Essay For many revolutions people may argue different reasons why that particular revolution was caused, but there often one that is the primary cause. The Russian Revolution began February 1917, many people in Russia lost faith in their government, especially since they had not done so well to begin with when they participated in World War I. Which resulted in a lot of expenses. Others may argue that since Tsar was an unproductive leader and because of the decisions he made when he was in power that influenced the Russian Revolution. Although Tsar s weak leadership may have influenced the Russian Revolution, World War I was the main cause of the Russian Revolution because it destroyed the economy, which led to riots and many people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Russia struggled to provide food for its populations. Citizens took control into their own hands, Ludovic Naudeau wrote in October 1917, One morning recently I was awakened by the cries of my neighbor in the next room. His boots had been stolen. The same day the manager of a newspaper office told me that he had been robbed six of pairs of pantaloons, ... Four hundred thefts every night! he cried; that is the average for the last two weeks, (One Aspect of Bolshevist Liberty). Russia could not even uphold itself because the economy was not successful compared to other countries. This led people to desire a change in the government; therefore this led to the Russian Revolution. People went to different maters to get what they wanted such as stealing since they were not getting the aid that they needed and they needed financial support. This caused them to protest against their government because many people from the lower class could not take care of their families. This cause led to a greater impact compared to Tsarist weak authority. Some may argue Tsar Nicholas weak leadership help contributes to the Russian Revolution but World War I was be the primary cause. Tsar Nicholas was not the best leader but that did not have a big enough impact to cause the Russia Revolution because his actions did not lead to as many problems that World War I had caused. World War I had a greater impact because it led to many problems within Russia that caused the citizens to be furious. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Imagery Of Joseph Wiesel s Night Imagery of Dehumanization in Night Hate begins to grow, and in the case of the Holocaust, this incessant hatred led to the identification of all Jews, the deportation of millions of people from their homes, the concentration in the camps, and extermination of entire families and communities at once. For nearly a decade, Jews, prisoners of war, homosexuals, and the disabled were rounded up, sent off to camps, and systematically slaughtered in unimaginably inhumane ways. Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor, shares his experiences at Auschwitz in the book Night, which reveals the true extent of inhumanity in both the Nazis and the Jews. In Elie Wiesel s Night, Wiesel uses imagery of his experiences before and while being in the concentration camp in order to develop his theme of dehumanization of both the Jews and the Nazis during the Holocaust. The first instance of dehumanization of the Jews appears in the very beginning of the book, where Elie remembers the evenings he spent studying the cabbala with Moche the Beadle, who, was as awkward as a clown. He made people smile, with his waiflike timidity. I loved his great, dreaming eyes, their gaze lost in the distance (Wiesel 13). However, a day comes where Moche, a foreign Jew of Sighet, has to be expelled from the country. The Jews of Sighet, kept in the dark about the true intentions of the Nazis, are left to ponder the whereabouts of the expelled foreigners and quickly forget about them. But when Moche returns to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Bilingual Education Policy Analysis Bilingual education policies in the Unites States have been influenced by many factors. These factors range from the different attitudes towards languages in general and the controversy that bilingual education creates among interested parties, to the relation between state and federal level language policies. All of these factors together, along with a number of historical events, have contributed, in one way or another, in shaping the country s policies of teaching language minority students (Crawford, 2004; Johnson Johnson, 2015; Ruiz, 1988). Before proceeding to the discussion of each factor, we may begin with a definition of what bilingual education is. According to the Education Commission of the States website (2015), bilingual education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Johnson and Johnson (2015) point out that the nation level language policies are affected by the way each state interprets and implements them. For instance, the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) in 2002, has been implemented in Arizona State in a way that resulted in reinforcing the English only programs that are already in it. While the same act resulted in a notable growth in other non English programs in Washington State. The interpretation and application of the NCLB Act in both Arizona and Washington states played a significant role both cases in determining the type of education in the public schools in both states (Johnson Johnson, 2015, p. 93). This, as a matter of fact, shows that the federal level language policies, NCLB here, empower states roles in deciding the most suitable approach to follow in the implementation ... • 7. Violence, Foolishness, And Impulsiveness In The Knight s Tale The Knight s Tale is one of many tales from the Canterbury Tales. This story sets in the city of Athens. Which opens into the theme of violence, foolishness, impetuousness, and impulsiveness; initially exceedingly emotional responses. One example is when two of our main characters, Palmon and Arcite, both fall in love with Theseus s sister in law (Emelye). These two blood brothers, leave each other after seeing Emelye out of the window of the tower. Which, I believe is a very impulsive decision, for they have not got time to know who she is and her personality. Also, they act like mortal enemies after just seeing her, so this thought process was completely impulsive and based on her looks. And later, Arcite tries to get to know her better after he was released from his imprisonment sentence by disguising himself, so he can take a job as a page in Emelye s chamber. I believe this shows that he wants to know her, but also it shows he is not being honest with her, which shows he was being impulsive and deceiving. He only learned about the little things that she liked, not her personality. Emelye learned a little bit about Arcite after the little conversing they shared, so they learned a little of each other s personality. This shows that the friendship was growing and not an intimate relationship, like Arcite wanted. So the story goes on and both Palmon and Arcite have been released from prison. And they happen to both decide to wander in the woods. Then they confront each other, each claiming the right to Emelye. The next day, they were brutally hacking away at each other. Honestly, I believe they are being impulsive and violent, they still barely knew Emelye (especially Palmon), and they decide to go kill each other. Then here shows up Theseus, which a loving and wise duke, but he can also be a little impulse when it comes to violence (which is fairly normal for a duke in the 1390s). Theseus tries to be loving when he sees the two men fighting, but he changes his mind when he found out it was Palmon and Arcite fighting. And that they were fighting because they love Emelye. Then Theseus was about to respond by killing them, but his loving wife and Emelye intervened, pleading for their lives. They pleaded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. How Beowulf Is A Hero Beowulf; a man whose greatness begun when he saved an entire kingdom from the clutches of the vile monster Grendel. Beowulf was known for countlessly putting his body and his life on the line to save his people. His courage and determination is what kept his legacy alive for all of these years. Not only that, but the respect he had for the people around him made him a remembered warrior as well. That s what I think makes a hero. Being determined to get a job done, having the courage to step in and complete that job, and having enough respect for your people to still obey their wishes despite your apparent fame. The hero I will be writing about is the fictional Marvel Comics character known as the Black Panther (real name T Challa). He and Beowulf ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Time and time again, the Black Panther must represent his nation in front of the entire globe. Because of this, everyone has knowledge of the Black Panther a.k.a T Challa. Black Panther s respect for his people is shown particularly when Wakanda was invited to a very important panel that would be aired in front of the world. This panel would include the likes of Reed Richards, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and many more Big Name heroes. Panther brought along two colleagues from Wakanda to sit with him on the panel Okoye and Nareema. When the panel intensified, it was the Black Panther turn to offer up some resolutions. During this moment, Okoye and Nareema suggested some of their thoughts to T Challa and the rest of the panel. Even though Stark and company tried to downplay their suggestions, their King stepped up for them, allowing their points to be heard worldwide. No you may not Mr. Stark, my companions will be heard! Because of T Challa s respect, he enabled Okoye and Nareema to cultivate a sensible solution, which was eventually used to help prevent an oncoming conflict. The Black Panther is such a great hero because he utilizes these three traits effectively. When he sees a problem he has the courage to confront it. And no matter how much the tides seem to be turning against him, he s always determine to find a way to save his kingdom! But what really makes heroes like Beowulf and the Black Panther remembered, is the respect they have for those around them. Using these three traits, their legacies will never ... • 9. The World Labor Market The stabilization of the labor supply created the world market labor (Lecture, February 25, 2014). For example, this resulted in millions of people to come to America and involve themselves in working for our country. However, migrants tend to always get paid little amounts which does not really help them out the way that they need or hope for but they stick around anyways. In addition, increased migration primarily helps the government s economic state. For instance, the United States has a large labor market. There are numerous tasks that need to be competed on a daily basis. By hiring migrants they are able to pay them extremely little compared to the profits that are being made. Which means the government s economy is highly dependent on global workers (Robinson,267). This is why emigrants can be seen as heroes. And they should be treated with decency because dependent countries such as the US cannot afford to lose them (Robinson,267). In the article by Alejandro Portes, he explains that capital being global and labor being local is nothing new. That the modern world system has grown because of the abroad labor system occurring. (Portes,152). He also mentions that the process of transnational communities in the world system resulted in many advantages. • 10. Managerial Accounting And The Certified Management Managerial accounting is used by an organization to ensure informed decisions are made regarding current and future operations. Businessmen and women must have the ability to comprehend financial information provided to properly determine the correct course of action. In the global market of today, an organization s inability to accurately determine the best course of action can lead to financial ruin for the company. Uninformed decisions by leadership can derail a business prospects for success in the future. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this is preparing next year s budget in the current year so leaders are informed of any constraints in the upcoming year. Documents created in financial accounting must adhere to regulations such as GAAP and IFRS. Once completed, these documents are verified by a certified public accountant (CPA) annually. These reports are summaries of the organization s performance as a unit and concentrate on sufficient disclosure of required information. Managerial accounting documents are not regulated by guiding principles. They are generally presented in a cost benefit analysis format. There is no audit of these documents as they are for internal use only. These reports are more detailed than the documents in financial accounting and often provide performance information on each department and shift of an organization over a relatively short time frame. The goal of this information is to provide any course corrections before issues or problems become out of control. These differences in the sectors of accounting lead to a difference in the need and use of information for internal purposes. Since managerial accounting is intended for different recipients than financial accounting, the type of information needed and used in managerial accounting is different. Managerial accounting involves cost management, activity management, and investment management. Cost accounting is a shared input between financial and management accounting. The information ... Egyptians had a great amount of knowledge in mathematics whether it was in arithmetic, fractions, algebra, geometry or even measurement. It still remains a mystery of how they reached their mathematical conclusions but there exist records which contain collections of mathematical exercises. We shall study the Egyptian number system and its symbols. We will also take a closer look at their different computation methods regarding multiplying and dividing. Introduction There has always been a level of fascination amongst people when it came to the Egyptian culture. People have pondered upon the skill and calculations it took to build the great pyramids of Giza. • 13. The Sampling Approach One of the strengths of the sampling approach is that the external validity is strong for the population of interest: the sample is randomly selected from veterans with PTSD all over the United States. The external validity is not strong for individuals who do not suffer from PTSD, or for individuals who do not live in the United States, as they are not included in the study. The random assignment of the study is also a strength, as this will help reduce sampling error and increase generalizability (Rubin Babbie, 2016). Lastly, the compensation for completing the study could also be viewed as a strength, as it is likely to increase the amount of participation; a larger sample is beneficial as it will yield more results and make the study more general to the population of interest (Rubin Babbie, 2016). Research Design The name of the design is: experimental treatment pretest posttest comparison design. In today s interconnected world where posting a selfie can be done in seconds, it is not difficult to see why Jean Twenge, author of Generation Me, and other critics of Millennial behavior could see them as being narcissistic. Looking at social media networks, the average number of selfies posted or status updates on even the most mundane daily activities is remarkable. Are these true signs of a rise in narcissism in today s youth or just normal self expression made possible through technology? For the purpose of this essay we will discuss why some of the actions taken by millennials could have led to them being labeled narcissistic. First let s look at the definition of narcissism, ... According to William Strauss and Neil Howe, authors of Will the Real Gen Y Please Stand Up , A healthy civic indicator is the boom in youth volunteering, a finding the Egos study discounts because so many high schools require community service. They claim the story highlights the negative aspects of patriarchal societies through the telling of the lottery ritual. However many overlook the roles that the women play throughout this story. Male domineering is very much evident in the way events are conducted and that is very clear an observation according to every writer. Women have no say in the choices men make on behalf of and upon them. However, according to Mohammed, if a feminine view is adopted while reading through this story, one would end up holding to the view that women are more powerful than men in the society. Oehlschlaeger (2013) asserts that it is difficult to comprehend the need to bring to an end such brutal acts of celebrations, which demean the value of human life. This is the missing discussion in the other articles and the authors were not able to prescribe a way to see the tradition die out. The discussion all along is centered on how this was conducted and no author has critiqued the same course of celebrations. What is not clear though is whether this lottery will come to an end someday considering the fact some neighboring communities have chosen to let go this tradition. That women ... • 17. A Correlation Between Telomere Length And Chronic Disease During each and every cell replication, chromosomes shrink by a small, but noticeable amount. Because of this, telomeres cap the ends to protect the coding regions of the chromosomes. With each generation of DNA, more and more of the telomere disappears. An enzyme slowly rebuilds them, but it cannot keep up with the degradation during chromosome replication. Eventually the shortened telomeres cause the cell to go through apoptosis (Pierce 2014). Because telomeres are one cause of cell death, it is hypothesized that telomere size can determine the health and age of an individual. Research has shown a correlation between telomere length and chronic disease. Those with chronic diseases usually have significantly shorter telomeres. This raises ... They are important structures in every cell of our body. Because of their role, their effect spreads well beyond that of simply protecting chromosomes. Structure and Function Telomeres make up the tips of linear chromosomes and function to protect and stabilize the chromosomes from degradation (Pierce 2014). There are other functions, but the primary one is protection. At each replication, DNA shortens by just a few base pairs due to the nature of replication in eukaryotes (who have linear chromosomes). The two strands of DNA are synthesized at different rates, creating a leading strand and a lagging strand. The leading strand is replicated quickly and fluidly in a 5 to 3 direction, as seen in Image 1. The lagging strand is replicated in a backstitch patter. Primers are placed along the DNA strand and DNA polymerase replaces them with segments of DNA. It can only do this, though, if a 3 OH group is present. The 3 OH group precedes the primer, and would sit just to the right of the green primers in Image 1. No 3 OH group would be present at the end of the chromosome because it only exists on one side of the primer. • 18. Augustine’s Conception of Sin in Confessions In this paper I will write about Augustine and his thoughts and ideas on sin in the Confessions, where sin originates and whether or not I believe that Augustine s conception of sin has a place in modern society. From all of this I will conclude that through Augustine s work and findings, Augustine s conception of the human person and their human actions are somewhat relevant today, due to the fact Augustine set a standard for what human nature is, known as the ability to desire, think and do, yet, people see the human differently today than Augustine did. At the same time his ideas of original sin and how the evil nature of humans is associated with original sin are still very relevant today. Augustine is our exemplar to human nature, as well as the guideline to what it means to be human. He demonstrates both the good and bad qualities that humans obtain and show that not everything can always be all good. In the Confessions Augustine talks about how he knows about his own imperfections. He states At one time in adolescence I was burning to find satisfaction in hellish pleasures (Augustine, Confessions, pg. 24). Many of his imperfections have brought a new way of thinking about the human being. In the Confessions, Augustine focuses on his autobiography and how sin comes from inside us humans. From this we have learned about the term introspective conscience and how it depicts when someone is constantly looking at him or herself and looking at the motivation to sin. ... Utilizing deobfuscation, especially through signature analysis, has already been discussed to its fullest potential. New methods include CPU analyzers, holograpy, eigenvirus detection, differential fault analysis, the growing grapes method, and whitelist protection. These are more general approaches and therefore do not rely on storing certain specific characteristics of the code of malware and tend to analyze behavior. Due to the extreme focus on deobfuscation, these ideas have only been explored fairly recently and are currently underdeveloped. As was stated in the previous section, CPU analyzers are a possible valid method of detecting malware. While it can be unreliable alone, O Kane et al. believe it can be a good preliminary detection method for metamorphic malware due to high CPU processing times (2011). The main issue is valid processes may trigger a warning with this type of detection. This is why it must be paired with another detection method.
