Visiting a Homeless Shelter Essay
La Toya Mckenith Psychology of Learning When I m out with my friends, weather we are picking up
fast food, or stopping at a red light, and I see a what I assume to be a homeless person asking for
change, I m usually the person that will give them any lose change or singles that I have. Many of my
friends hate that I do this, but someone some how I empathize with those people. So naturally when I
was asked to do something that I ve never done before, I chose to visit a homeless shelter. I chose this
because although I hand over money to people, I do this and go back to my normal life. I never have
in my 22 years of life taken the time out to actually have a conversation with a homeless person. I ve

I was responsible for the housekeeping, which included doing the job I detest the most. I had to clean
the bathrooms and showers. I then went to work at the front desk. This was my first direct interaction
with the homeless. My job was to collect and pack bags and put them onto shelves. Also, I had to
check the homeless people s personal belongings for dangerous objects like knives and anything that
could be used to harm other people. The homeless people had to go through a scanning machine to
detect if they had items they had hid. A lot of the people were really nice and would speak to me
politely. However, I also encountered some homeless people who were mean and seemed bored all the
time. I then discovered that the mean people were the chronically homeless who were sick and tired of
doing the same things. While working, my friend and I had some of the homeless folks giving us
candy and cookies. Honestly, I did not want to have any but people felt offended when I refused to
take their offers, so I ended up taking everything I was given. During meals people would make sure
not to throw away food, so if they were something they did not like, they would walk around offering
people their leftovers. It was touching how the homeless people always shared the little they had, and
they referred to each other as brothers. The most difficult thing was encountering two boys who were
my age but stayed at the

The Philosophy Of Social Science Summary
The philosophy of social science is the branch of philosophy that involves examining concepts, the
methods, and the logic of the social sciences (Fay, 2016, P.1). Gordon (1991, P.2), defined social
science as using the scientific method to study human social behaviour. Therefore, this branch
analyses the cooperation of human beings with the aim of achieving objectives collectively rather than
individually. Furthermore, the philosophers of social science are concerned with the investigation of
the social science practices and the nature of human beings.
The purpose of this paper is to critically review Martin Hollis s, The Philosophy of Social Science.
The paper will analyse the author s objective regarding the book, the approach taken by the author, the
strength, and weaknesses of the book as well as what the readers might find useful from the book.
The author sets out to define and examine the explanation and understanding of the major theme in the
social world. The concept of understanding centers on a proposition that the social world preferably
ought to be understood from within rather than being explained from outside (Hollis, 2011, p.16).
The concept of holism and individualism is also addressed as a minor theme. Holism implies that
human beings are morally responsible for what they do and the most valued forms of political
organisation are determined socially and thus rest on illusion (Hollis, 2011, p.107). The concept of
individualism is defined from social

Van Gogh Implied Depth
Oil on canvas 29 X 36 1/4
1.Line In van Goh s painting we clearly see how every single brush stroke in his painting mainly
consists of soft lines throughout the entire canvas. The sky is depicted with soft lines that curve as
they create a soft movement in the sky. The cypress tree consists of vertical and curved lines as the
tree rises up into the sky. Van Gogh also used a few vertical/horizontal hard lines to create the spiral
church and the rooftops to some of the homes in the village.
2. Implied Depth Van Gogh created depth in his painting by painting the cypress tree very large as he
placed it on the lower left hand side of his painting. Along with the cypress tree, van Gogh painted the
spiral church right down the center of the canvas to help him create this desirable depth as he painted
the spiral church tiny in comparison to the cypress tree. Another technique van Gogh used to create
depth was the technique of overlapping objects to achieve his desirable effect of depth, we can clearly
see this as the cypress tree overlaps the hills and the sky full of clouds.
3. Color Van Gogh s use of color in this painting is very simple since he mainly used dark cool colors
such as dark blue, dark green, black, along with a hint of light blue, a couple or orange and red dashes,
and some white. He also used yellow which out of all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Light Although van Gogh s painting mainly consists of dark cool colors we can clearly see/understand
why he decided to used white and yellow in his painting. I personally think he used white and yellow
to light up the dark sky in order to bring light into what seems a quiet small village. You can see a
little bit of light coming from the village as yellow was used to paint the windows. Although, the
entire village seems dark and gloomy along with the sky, we can see how parts of the sky are
portrayed to bring in light an capture your attention as the stars and the moon were painted with a
bright yellow and a few hints of

Data Analysis Processing And Analysis
Data Analysis Processing and Analysis To test the hypothesis that national board certification (primary
independent variable) has an effect on reading scores and reading levels (dependent variable); an
ordinal regression analysis was applied using R for statistical analysis and coding of data. The ordinal
regression was used to rank the predictor variables; A. Certification and Years of Experience, B.
Advance degree and Years of Experience, and C. Certification and Advance Degree. In addition,
reading levels were ranked from the lowest reading text level to the highest text level. The reading
scores were collected from national board certified and non national board certified teachers. The data
collected included the beginning of year and end of year reading scores. The dependent variable
reading score is likely dependent on more than just board certification. Predictor variables, including
advanced degrees and years of service included in the regression to give a more robust picture of the
actual effect of board certification has on reading scores (McClendon, 1994). The researcher displayed
data results of advanced degree and national board effects in a 2x2 contingency table. The table
analysis was utilized to reveal the independence and dependence between the variables. The
dispersion of the data occurred in the final stage of the analysis known as the inferential statistical
phase. At this point the researcher determined whether a significant correlation exists

Palsy Assistive Technology
Assistive Technologies and Surgery
Out of the 15 studies that were examined, the remaining five studies focused on the topic of the use of
technology and surgery in regards to gait in children with Cerebral Palsy. In the Myung Sook, Hee,
Jeong Soo, and Hye Seon (2015) article, whole body vibration there were significant improvements in
the walking speed, step length of the side that was affected, and the stride of the step increased. The
ultimate discovery was that whole body vibration training for children with cerebral palsy done
concurrently with physical therapy leads to better range of motion and functional mobility. According

continue to test techniques for balance, assistive technology, and strength in order for physical
therapists to advance in their practice and to have the best outcome for their patient. The gaps of
knowledge in this review is that there is no specific technique to help with gait for individuals with
cerebral palsy. In order to get the best results, a longitudinal study is missing from this research. A
possible suggestion is to continue to evaluate the patients with cerebral palsy overtime to see how

The Red Baron is a film directed by Nikolai Muellerschoen and produced by Niama Film which was
released on April 10, 2008 but wasn t released in the US until March 19, 2010. This movie was based
on a legendary German pilot who fought and died in World War 1. This pilot was known as Manfred
von Richthofen. I believe that this film was nicely put together, the plot kept its viewers engaged and
wanting to see what would happen next. In this essay I will be giving a brief explanation on the film
and why it is or is not accurate and whether the producer did it on purpose or by mistake. At the
beginning of the movie which takes place in 1906, Manfred is still a child. As a kid Manfred is out
hunting with his younger brother Lothar von Richthofen and younger cousin, Wolfram Freiherr von
Richthofen. Suddenly the sound of an airplane flying nearby flies over them. Amazed, Manfred jumps
on his horse and follows the airplane with his arms spread out as though they were the wings of a
plane themselves. This foreshadows him becoming a pilot in the future. After this scene the movies
jumps ten years into the future which happens to be during World War 1. After the ten years have
passed Manfred is a Lieutenant and is serving as a fighter pilot for the Imperial German Air Service.
Lieutenant Richthofen is shown flying along the Western front where they drop a wreath over the
funeral of an Allied pilot. On his way back home with his friends and fellow pilots Werner Voss,

Elizabeth Gaskell s North And South
In Elizabeth Gaskell s North and South, the simmering tension between the striking mill workers of
Milton and their employer John Thornton come to a head in Chapter 22 A Blow and its Consequences
. The millhands, enraged at Thornton s hiring of Irish workers while they are on strike, descend in a
mob upon Thornton s mill and home. This chapter is also pivotal in the relationship between Thornton
and the novel s principal character Margaret Hale. In the novel, Gaskell parallels the conflict between
Thornton and his workers with the conflict between Thornton and Margaret. Both relationships erupt
in this chapter leading to consequences throughout the rest of the novel. Gaskell establishes the
tension in this chapter by using imagery and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The History of Modern Women and Body Art Essay
The History of Modern Women and Body Art
I chose to do this field report on body art because I, personally, find the topic very complex and
interesting. It is for this reason that I decided to narrow the scope of my field research. I am focusing
this report on the trends and evolution in body art as relating to modern women. When I say modern
women I am referring to the women from about the 18th century to the current day. I chose to focus on
women imparticular because of the strong societal pressure that is specifically place upon them to
fulfill a certain role and aesthetically look a particular way. I wanted to research the history of body art
and how it related to these pressures and stigmas. In my research I found everything ... Show more

The slow acceptance of the tattoo began, but not without a wide belief in the stigma that a tattooed
person was lower in status and in cultural advancement than that of the modern world (p 45 8). In
America, tattoos soon began to be . modernized. and changed into more acceptable forms of body art
(p.49). Around the beginning of the 20th Century, many everyday people were getting tattooed, but
still the largest crowd getting these designs was servicemen (p. 51). A new fetish concerning the tattoo
art was the emergence of the display of tattooed people, from the native to the modern tattooed person
(p.53). Freak shows became a popular attraction in the amusement industry, but soon became solely
focused on the made freak, the tattooed, as the view of natural born freaks evolved (p.53 4). During
the late 1800s women began to emerge within the freak show atmosphere and even became the more
valued attraction and could even use their sexuality to sell tickets. The heavy tattooing on these
women required them to show their bodies with less clothing than was socially acceptable at the time.
The tattooed women were careful to leave their faces and hands clear of tattoos so that it was possible
for them to have an alternate career (p. 58). As shown by this deliberate planning, the stigma of the
tattoo was very clear and it was not one of social acceptance. These women did pull of the image of
being classy and feminine despite

Genetic Factors To The Development Of Breast Cancer
You probably know at least one person who has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Breast Cancer is
the most common cancer for women in the United States. Although more common in women, this
cancer can also be found in men. The abnormal development of breast tissue cells ultimately generates
Breast Cancer. However, there are many different things that can provoke these cells to develop.
Even today, scientists are still unsure about all the factors that cause Breast Cancer. So that is why
research continues to be done to find reasons as to why it is being developed and different ways to
prevent it. They have discovered that breast cancer can be affected by both environmental and genetic
factors. In addition to that, doctors do know that there are a few specific gene mutations that exist that
are linked to Breast Cancer. Mutated genes can be acquired through life and some of these genes can
create Breast Cancer. Some other common causes are the regular consumption of alcohol, the regular
smoking of cigarettes, and being very overweight. Being exposed to the hormone estrogen for longer
amounts of time is also very common in the development of Breast Cancer. This happens when
menstruation lasts after the age of 50 and starts before the age of 12. Some doctors also believe that
irradiation in the chest due to previous issues and treatments can also lead to cancer. ... Show more

Analysis Of Truman State University s Campus
Introduction Throughout the course of everyday life, variability of heart rate is present for each
individual. As the college students on the campus of Truman State University go about their day to
day lives, they too experience the phenomenon of heart rate variability. While resting and using little
movement, many students spend a great number of hours each day studying a period of time when the
body requires a smaller cardiac output in relation to times of movement. However, during the course
of an academic day, Truman students, like the majority of human beings, are faced with instances
under which time is limited, and they must increase work output to get from one destination to
another. Additionally, there are instances in which physical activity is required with variation of
difficulty within a workload/resistance. Through this understanding, one can see that the heart rate
changes throughout the course of each day, and is thus dependent on the intensity of each daily
activity. Although every student on Truman State University s campus has his/her own unique
physiological makeup and personal physical fitness level every individual is impacted by the
variability of his or her own heart rate in response to activities of daily life. HRV is a simple and
effective measurement and practical for clinical use. Many clinical uses involve patients with
cardiovascular disease and athletes. Other disease states that use HRV as a marker are diabetic

The Visionary Skills By Richard Branson
Richard Branson has proved his monumental visionary skills by persistently projecting his fantasies
for the organisation and collaborating the resources to move in the direction of fulfilment of those
fantasies. He inspires his workers to bring in new ideas and to think of their own thoughts and
arrangements. This is exhibited by his routine practice of listening, reading and reacting to the
suggestions and messages of his employees. Branson has been depicted as a personality who enjoys
the difficulties, risks and challenges in business and the one who derives satisfaction to attain the
apparently inaccessible targets. It is a part of who he is and he shows it through his leadership style. 2.
Team Builder: There is no existence of leadership without its followers and valuing them is the first
step toward their development as well as in cultivating effective transformational leadership. The
successful implementation of unity among team members has made Branson more successful than
ever. He has traveled extra miles and flown to greater heights just to grasp the recipe of fun working
environment for his employees. He believes to have a family like bond within members who cherish
being part of it and strive to create and enhance that unity. He wants to have a team people who work

International Trade Shaped The Economy, Culture And...
First of all, I agree with the statement that, International trade shaped the economy, culture and
civilization of many Central Asian Silk Road societies in the pre Mongol era . The explanation of the
term International trade literally means the exchange of goods between different countries in the
world. On the other hand, the aim of the international trade is to spread the culture and absorb the new
culture and things in in order to make a better society. The Silk Road was the first step that starts to
exchange the culture, economy civilization, and also political between China and the western
countries. This International trade made a great contribution to the world. In this essay, I will focus on

Although the Mongolia Empire occupied land by the violence war, they still Unified Eurasia for the
first time, which makes the international trade become easier. Early in the Liao Dynasty, the Mongol
tribes have started to trade the goods like cattle, sheep, horses and fur with Khitan. Besides, Before the
Mongolia Empire established, the Mongolian nomads continued to trade goods with neighboring
people. The political and military strength of Mongol Empire is powerful provides a more favorable
political environment for the Silk Road. Besides, the trade of the Mogol Silk Road is Relative
prosperity, and it is the basis for the development of Tang Song dynasties Silk Road trade. The nomad
empires are relatively stable, and the international trade became more frequent. That is not a
coincidence; the reason is that the Mongol Empire ruled the Eurasia during that period. On the other
hand, Silk Road is a rebirth of the economic trade, especially during the Mongolia empire period. As I
mentioned, the pre Mongol era is like a turning point for the international trading s rise, because along
the ancient Silk Road, there are a lot of countries, especially the countries of Central Asia. The

Winery company has faced some issues in which that has affected their business. Thank you for

of the situation at Roberts Cellars Company during our meeting. We as one group figured out that the
problem at Roberts Cellars Company is the TCA a chemical that can cause musty odors and flavors in
wine. TCA infects the cork, then is transferred to the wine when it comes into contact with the cork.
As a team, we believe that TCA should be removed from the situation completely by no longer using
Portugal as a source for cork but instead changing the coverings to screw top conclusions instead. In
addition, the TCA issues need to be addressed, and we suggest Robert Cellars selecting a different

Changing Trends in Sexual Orientation
Changing Trends in Sexual Orientation
According to Merriam Webster Medical Dictionary, sexual orientation refers to the inclination of an
individual with respect to heterosexual, homosexual, and bisexual behavior. The famous Kinsey
Reports by Alfred Kinsey (1948) claims that about 10% of American adults are homosexual. This
astonishing figure is often presented as fact but is often criticized to be highly overestimated by
academia. (Refer to Appendix 1 for figures presented by other institutes). Studies by National Survey
of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles reviews that lesbian increased from 2.8% in 1990 to 9.7% in 2000
while gay reported to rise from 5.3% in 1990 to 8.4% in 2000, depicting upward trends that are

Another impact brought by this changing trend is the introduction of same sex marriage (Appendix 3).
Below is a world map depicting the legality of homosexuality in various part of the world.
Dark Sides
As legal issues pertaining to homosexual have received more national attention, courts around the
world have been reconsidering gays and lesbians rights in parenting and custody cases. But the
general assumption that homosexual parents have adverse effects on the psychological and social
development on a child makes it extremely difficult for gays and lesbians to become parents.
However, the validity of this assumption is highly disputable as both parties claim to have statistical
evident.
On top of that, the greater willingness of people to be truthful about their sexual orientation has
brought repercussion. Their visibility has invited the attention of anti gay activists. Gay rights
movements are often accompany by anti gay rallies and many religious bodies have also express
disapproval at this new sexual trend (Figure above). Homosexuals are also more susceptible to hatred
assault compared to their straight counterpart. According to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),
13% of the hate crimes occurred in U.S is targeted at homosexuals; sharp increase due to greater
number of people who come out of closet.
Reports also assert that homosexuality is triggering HIV escalation.

Use Innis’s Concepts of “Time-Biased” and “Space-Biased”...
The 20th century has witnessed dramatic developments in the history of media communications as
well as human society. During the first half of the last century, electronic media such as the telegraph,
radio and television to name a few were invented and became prevalent. Afterwards, the internet came
into being and developed at an unprecedented rate to the point where it is now widely accepted that
human history has entered into an information age. As claimed by a number of scholars, the
appearance of new types of media can bring about dramatic influences on living conditions. Among
them, Harold Innis, pioneer in this area of communication studies, is influential, firstly by employing
two dimensions to media, namely time and space, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To clarify, the Internet adopts a distributed information storage model which means information is
saved in different computers in a distributed manner, so if some information is lost from one
computer, it still can be accessed in another (Kleinberg, 2006). Furthermore, along with the
development of computer technology, a series of new data storage devices further make up for its
duration, for example current popular data sharing softwares such as BT (ibid.). With enlarging
storage abilities, information stored on the Internet can last for long periods of time (ibid.). According
to Innis, in history, few empires with a notable exception of the Greek Empire can maintain a balanced
relationship between space and time. Often there is the likelihood that one will be given priority over
the other (Innis, 1950). Nonetheless, as analyzed above, the Internet has achieved a relatively stable
balance between space and time.
Following this, corresponding to the two biases of communication, there are both oral and written
media. Oral communication can be seen as time binding because in oral societies, knowledge can only
be passed through generations by word of mouth which generally take place within groups or
communities (Innis, 1990). Also, because memory is limited, it is necessary to be particularly selective
about knowledge, as a result of which, knowledge not related to maintaining tradition is difficult to be
handed down (ibid.).

but i chickened out and i didn t go on the rides they went on, i went on 2 water rides and a new one
they had. Both of the water rides was fun one of them was like log one where you have swirls but then
it goes up a hill then it lets you fall and all the water splashes all over you and me and my mom were
soaking wet. The other was like a wheel and it was my mom and me and 4 other of my friends and the
wheel would swirl around by itself and it was on a river canal and it would have dips and you would
get wet and since the wheel would swirl around you would think its someone else that will get wet but
yet it would be you or someone else. The other roller coaster was pretty big for me since i m afraid of
heights and roller coaster i was screaming the whole entire time and oh my goodness i was so mad at
my mom because she traumatised me! After we went on the water rides my mom and i went and
changed. Then we were hungry again, and to my good luck there was Panda Express my favorite place
to eat in the world. Then we went to the Eiffel Tower obviously not the real one in Paris but it was
great! My mom felt a little

The Mayan Languages of Guatemala and Mexico Essay examples
FIU
Data Analysis Essay
The Mayan languages of Guatemala and Mexico can be called a linguistic area (Study Guide, 2014, p.
102) because they are geographically in close proximity and the languages of the speech communities
there would have been spoken side by side for many generations (ibid). Due to long term contact
between speech communities in this linguistic area, bilingualism and language mixing in the speeches
of the close knit natives are sure to have existed due to demographic movements. (Winford, 2003, p.
19). However, when language contact involves foreign and native languages, communicating in a
common language becomes an issue. Therefore, to overcome language barriers, lexical items are
borrowed from the former into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this is not the case with the Mayan speech communities. It is evident from the data that
casual borrowing took place. The natives of Guatemala and Mexico appeared to have borrowed lexical
items in relation to their occupations. For example, some of them were farmers and house servants.
For the purpose of daily discourse, borrowed words were mainly common nouns that named a type of
animal, a bird and items that the Mayan FIU languages may not have had a word or exact translations
for. Social standing in the community was seen by the Mayans as an important relationship between
the Spanish and in order to address a female who was a non native, borrowing was essential. Religion
as an integral part of Mayan society, a Spanish word associated with the concept, a closely related
Spanish word was borrowed. In order to understand the social division colonisation created within the
Mayan speech communities, the Spanish donor words can be categorised in simple categories such as:
Agriculture Vegetable Farming: (1), Spanish donor word nabos turnips (mod. [naβos], col. [naboṣ]);
(3), Spanish donor word jarro jug, jar (mod. [xaro], col. [šaro]); (15), Spanish donor word cebolla

A Confederacy Of Dunces Is Much More Than A Comedy Beneath
A Confederacy of dunces is much more than a comedy beneath the hilarious and unlikable characters

The postmodern style of writing John Kennedy Toole, makes so that the various cast of the characters

Ignatius is introduced to us as a obnoxious and gruesome character A green hunting cap squeezed the
top of the fleshy balloon of a head. The green earflaps, full of large ears and uncut hair and the fine
bristles that grew in the ears themselves, stuck out on either side like turn signals indicating two
directions at once (Toole, John Kennedy, 1). John Kennedy is not trying to impress us with Ignatius.
He is giving us a fantastic, complex character with radical ideas. Every sense of his character is an
attempt to show us what not to do. He is unlikable and disgusting yet he judges other people, Ignatius

Abstract
This investigation is aimed to find whether there is a relationship between cognitive empathy and
primary and secondary psychopathy. A correlational design was used, in which the Levenson self
report scale Levenson (1995) and the Reading Eyes Mind Test (Baron Cohen et al., 2001) were
administered to 452 first year psychology students. Major results showed a weak, significant, negative
correlation between primary psychopathy and empathy; there was no significant relationship between
secondary psychopathy and empathy. Concluding lack of empathy potentially correlates with primary
psychopathy whereas secondary psychopathy shows no noticeable significance to empathy.
Assessing the Relationship between Cognitive Empathy and both Primary and Secondary Psychopathy
Previous studies have looked into the topic of psychopaths (e.g. Michael R. Levenson, Kent A. Kiehl
Cory M. Fitzpatrick 1995; Farah Ali Tomas Chamorro Premuzic 2010; R.A. Richell, D.G.V. Mitchell,
C. Newman, A. Leonard, S. Baron Cohen R.J.R. Blair 2003). This study specifically focuses on
cognitive empathies relationship within the types of psychopathy. Cognitive empathy, often referred to
as Theory of Mind (ToM), is conceptualised as the ability to understand and infer emotions and

The Role of Federal Agencies in Fighting Digital Crime Essay
Explain the existing challenges that result from the independent nature of these agencies, as well as
the other factors that are common to each of them. In the United States, local, state, and federal law
enforcement agencies, including FBI, Department of Homeland Security, among others, have taken on
roles to fight computer crimes and terrorism. The roles and responses of these law enforcement
agencies concerning digital crime have created challenges that limit enforcement efforts against digital
crime. The Department Of Justice has had to address evolving challenges such as mortgage fraud,
corporate fraud, and cyber crime including online child pornography. As it seeks to balance and
address competing and new priorities, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In April 2011, GAO, Government Accountability Office, reported that backlogs in the forensic
analysis of digital evidence can delay or hinder online child pornography investigations. Among
factors that federal law enforcement officials cited as limiting investigations and prosecutions were
variations in the steps that agencies believe enhance the integrity of forensic analysis of digital
evidence. In some cases, these steps may increase the time it takes to analyze evidence and add to
backlogs and delays. (GAO High Risk Other Major Government Challenges Balancing Fighting
Crime Versus Terrorism) State and local law enforcement agencies face several challenges including
the lack of resources, expertise, training, and funding to solve cyber crime. Of these problems, are the
growing concerns of the local and state officials about the threats made relating to the protection of
computer infrastructures at the federal level. Local officers are not having the capacity or
understanding of computer crimes necessary to properly investigate offenses such as computer and
electric crimes and fraud and theft crimes by digital technology. (Taylor, 2011) Having education and
appropriate training is crucial in the investigation process to gain an upper hand in fighting digital
crime. In addition, state and local law enforcement expressed concerns about resource constraints and
apprehension regarding expertise and jurisdictional

The Economic Impacts of Budget Cuts to the CSU and UC Systems
This paper will focus on the economic impacts of the policy decision by California Governor Brown
to decrease funding of the California State University and University of California systems by way of
looking at the impact on the economy of less college graduates. I will do this by looking at two
variables. I will first look at the multiplier effect of the state putting money into the California State
University system and what will happen as a result of the divestment due to the budget cuts. I will
then look at the decrease in the median income due to the fact that the budget cuts will cause a
decrease in enrollment which means there will be fewer college graduates and college graduates earn
more money than their non graduate counterparts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(California State Governor s Office) According to a report presented to the Office of the Chancellor by
IFC International for every one dollar spent by the state on the California State University system the
CSU generates $5.43 for California s economy annually. When enhanced earnings by graduates are
taken into account, the annual return rises to more than $23 for each $1 invested. (ICF International)
This, however, does not necessarily mean than the $542.4 million in cuts is multiplied by $23,
resulting in a total decrease of $12.475 billion in spending. This is because the relationship isn t
necessarily completely linear. Since the decrease is only 8.5% then the relationship might still be
linear, which would mean that there will be $12.475 billion in spending lost. The other reality might
be that it is not linear, which would mean the total loss of spending would be less than $12.475 billion.
Another area I will look at for the California State University system s budget cuts is the resulting
enrollment cuts. With less money coming in from the state the universities have to save money by
enrolling fewer students. However, the money cut from the CSU budget doesn t have a direct
relationship to a decrease in enrollment. The change in enrollment is determined by the universities
and is filled every semester. Enrollment is scheduled to decrease in

Causes Of The Stratovolcano Tambora
The stratovolcano Tambora makes up the 60 km wide Sanggar Peninsula on northern Sumbawa
Island, Indonesia, and is still currently active today. Erupting on April 10, 1815, Tambora, which is
considered the largest observed eruption in recorded history, induced mass destruction to villages,
widespread famine, and global climate change that would last for years to come. Standing nearly
14,000 feet high, Tambora experienced small tremors and streams of pyroclastic flow before erupting,
shooting 60 megatons of sulfur, 36 cubic miles of ash, pumice, and aerosols into the atmosphere.
Sulfurous gas from the volcano combined with water vapor droplets in the air, which then stuck in
earth s atmosphere, and were dispersed through both hemispheres due to stratospheric currents. These
particles then increased sunlight absorption, contributing to lower amounts of sunlight seen from
earth. This caused a drop in global temperatures by nearly 5.4 degrees fahrenheit. These temperature
drops reached as far as New England, which caused difficulty in crop production and increased
famine, leading to the year of 1816 being called the year without a summer. The initial impact of the
eruption killed somewhere around 10,000 citizens instantly, while the chain of events afterwards,
including food shortages, famine, pyroclastic flows, and tsunamis, caused an estimated 100,000
deaths.
The massive eruption measured a 7 on the VEI scale, or Volcanic Explosivity Index, and released
around 100 cubic km of magma. In total, it lasted no more than 3 days, and 300 500 million kilograms
of volcanic debris was released per second. Stratovolcanoes produce magma that contain high
amounts of silica, giving it a high viscosity, or thickness, causing it to not flow very far. 500,000
square kilometers of land around Tambora was covered with at least 1 centimeter of ash. Following
the eruption, a collapse caldera was formed. These are formed when a powerful volcanic eruption
occurs, and collapses in on the weak rock that had previously been supporting the magma chamber
underneath the volcano, forming a crater. This caldera is now around 1.2 kilometers deep, meaning the
volcano lost several kilometers of elevation following the eruption. It is

The Main Theories of How the Process of Aging Works Essay
The Main Theories of How the Process of Aging Works
This report outlines the main theories of how the process of aging works. Since researchers have not
discovered a universally accepted theory of aging, the theories discussed are potential explanations of
how we age. The likelihood of each hypothesis is considered roughly equal. The different theories
discussed focus on the workings of different parts of the body, from the molecular level of DNA
mutations and replication, to the organism level of becoming worn out. Aging is a very complex and
gradual process, and its ongoing operation is present to some degree in all individuals. It is a journey
to the maturity, as well as to the degeneration of the body. Because ... Show more content on

Since genes on DNA code for specific proteins, mutated genes may produce defective proteins, which
do not work properly. Many proteins can be affected, such as enzymes, proteins comprising muscle
tissue, and a recently discovered type of protein called transcription factors, which bind to DNA and
regulate the individual activities of genes themselves. Physical mutagens are substances that increase
the chance of mutation and include such physical phenomena as x rays and radioactivity from radium.
The atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan are examples of physical mutagens
that caused an increase in the number of cases of leukemia. Certain chemicals and radiation cause
mutations to occur in DNA by giving off high energy particles. These particles collide with the DNA
and knock off atoms of the DNA randomly, damaging it. DNA consists of sequences of four possible
nitrogenous bases: adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine, paired so that adenine always pairs with
thymine, and guanine always pairs with cytosine. As cells repair the damaged DNA, a different DNA
base is often substituted. This base substitution is known as a point mutation and can cause the
production of a defective or damaged protein. Apart from being caused by radiation or chemicals,
mutations also occur spontaneously but at lower rates. Physicist Leo Szilard and biochemist Denham
Harmon proposed that because most

The Release 10 of LTE is the version that is approved by the ITU R as an IMT Advanced technology
and so is called LTE Advanced. Release 10 of the LTE that came out in March 2011 included carrier
aggregation, enhanced downlink MIMO, uplink MIMO, enhanced ICIC and advanced relays.
Following the Release 10 came the Release 11 that incorporated enhanced carrier aggregation and
additional intra band carrier aggregation. In 2008 the work associated with IMT Advanced within the
ITU R circulated the detailed requirements and process via a circular letter. For 3GPP, LTE advanced
is not a new technology but is an evolutionary step in the ongoing development of LTE. To reach the
IMT Advanced standards, wider bandwidth by aggregation of various multiple carriers and evolved
use of advanced antenna techniques in both downlink and uplink are the two main phenomenon added
in the Release 10 of LTE. The transmission scheme used for this technology is called OFDM
(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) which is also prevalent in other radio access
technologies like WiMax and DVB broadcasting technologies. The work on LTE started in the late
2004 with the aim of providing new radio access technology that focused on packet switched data.
The tasks include user/system, throughput, peak data rates, spectral efficiency and user plane latency.

Scattering Donny s Ashes Scene in The Big Lebowski (Joel and Ethan Coen, 1998)
The Big Lebowski (1998) by the Coen Brothers is no doubt a comedy film about friendships between
three bowling buddies with differing personalities who met and stuck together as friends by choice in
Los Angeles when the U.S. army invaded the Middle East. The Coen Brothers managed to capture the
spirit of friendship bonding, conflicts, characters internal struggles as well as personal desires with

In your wisdom, Lord, you took him. As you took so many bright flowering young men at Khe Sanh,
at Langdok, at Hill 364! These young men gave their lives. And so did Donny. Donny, who loved
bowling. The reason why the director placed this line in the eulogy is to show how Walter considered
this an opportunity to a closure of years and years wasted in memories. The Coen Brothers put a vivid,
living proof of Walter being stuck in the past on screen via his costume throughout the movie with his
trademark safari vest, amber lens aviator sunglasses and the military dog tag that he always kept close
in the film.
Apart from the genuine friendship between the Dude, Walter and Donny, the eulogy dialogue also
implies another layer of meaning from the movie concerning generation loss, changes and the cycle of
life. Although the three main characters are bound together by bowling but Donny is the only one we
ever do see bowl, in fact, we only seem to notice his existence at the bowling alley but his bowling
results never did come to the Dude nor Walter s notice. From the way how Donny let Walter call him
names, swear at him and never really get to enjoy bowling s fun, to Donny being scared to death with
an heart attack caused by Nihilists attack or even after Donny s death, when there is no family member
but only Walter and the Dude to take care of his remains indicates a generation ignored and lost.
In the eulogy scene, the director used an unusual composition than

  • 2. Visiting a Homeless Shelter Essay La Toya Mckenith Psychology of Learning When I m out with my friends, weather we are picking up fast food, or stopping at a red light, and I see a what I assume to be a homeless person asking for change, I m usually the person that will give them any lose change or singles that I have. Many of my friends hate that I do this, but someone some how I empathize with those people. So naturally when I was asked to do something that I ve never done before, I chose to visit a homeless shelter. I chose this because although I hand over money to people, I do this and go back to my normal life. I never have in my 22 years of life taken the time out to actually have a conversation with a homeless person. I ve never taken the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was responsible for the housekeeping, which included doing the job I detest the most. I had to clean the bathrooms and showers. I then went to work at the front desk. This was my first direct interaction with the homeless. My job was to collect and pack bags and put them onto shelves. Also, I had to check the homeless people s personal belongings for dangerous objects like knives and anything that could be used to harm other people. The homeless people had to go through a scanning machine to detect if they had items they had hid. A lot of the people were really nice and would speak to me politely. However, I also encountered some homeless people who were mean and seemed bored all the time. I then discovered that the mean people were the chronically homeless who were sick and tired of doing the same things. While working, my friend and I had some of the homeless folks giving us candy and cookies. Honestly, I did not want to have any but people felt offended when I refused to take their offers, so I ended up taking everything I was given. During meals people would make sure not to throw away food, so if they were something they did not like, they would walk around offering people their leftovers. It was touching how the homeless people always shared the little they had, and they referred to each other as brothers. The most difficult thing was encountering two boys who were my age but stayed at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Philosophy Of Social Science Summary The philosophy of social science is the branch of philosophy that involves examining concepts, the methods, and the logic of the social sciences (Fay, 2016, P.1). Gordon (1991, P.2), defined social science as using the scientific method to study human social behaviour. Therefore, this branch analyses the cooperation of human beings with the aim of achieving objectives collectively rather than individually. Furthermore, the philosophers of social science are concerned with the investigation of the social science practices and the nature of human beings. The purpose of this paper is to critically review Martin Hollis s, The Philosophy of Social Science. The paper will analyse the author s objective regarding the book, the approach taken by the author, the strength, and weaknesses of the book as well as what the readers might find useful from the book. The author sets out to define and examine the explanation and understanding of the major theme in the social world. The concept of understanding centers on a proposition that the social world preferably ought to be understood from within rather than being explained from outside (Hollis, 2011, p.16). The concept of holism and individualism is also addressed as a minor theme. Holism implies that human beings are morally responsible for what they do and the most valued forms of political organisation are determined socially and thus rest on illusion (Hollis, 2011, p.107). The concept of individualism is defined from social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Van Gogh Implied Depth Oil on canvas 29 X 36 1/4 1.Line In van Goh s painting we clearly see how every single brush stroke in his painting mainly consists of soft lines throughout the entire canvas. The sky is depicted with soft lines that curve as they create a soft movement in the sky. The cypress tree consists of vertical and curved lines as the tree rises up into the sky. Van Gogh also used a few vertical/horizontal hard lines to create the spiral church and the rooftops to some of the homes in the village. 2. Implied Depth Van Gogh created depth in his painting by painting the cypress tree very large as he placed it on the lower left hand side of his painting. Along with the cypress tree, van Gogh painted the spiral church right down the center of the canvas to help him create this desirable depth as he painted the spiral church tiny in comparison to the cypress tree. Another technique van Gogh used to create depth was the technique of overlapping objects to achieve his desirable effect of depth, we can clearly see this as the cypress tree overlaps the hills and the sky full of clouds. 3. Color Van Gogh s use of color in this painting is very simple since he mainly used dark cool colors such as dark blue, dark green, black, along with a hint of light blue, a couple or orange and red dashes, and some white. He also used yellow which out of all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I personally think he used white and yellow to light up the dark sky in order to bring light into what seems a quiet small village. You can see a little bit of light coming from the village as yellow was used to paint the windows. Although, the entire village seems dark and gloomy along with the sky, we can see how parts of the sky are portrayed to bring in light an capture your attention as the stars and the moon were painted with a bright yellow and a few hints of ... • 6. Data Analysis Processing And Analysis Data Analysis Processing and Analysis To test the hypothesis that national board certification (primary independent variable) has an effect on reading scores and reading levels (dependent variable); an ordinal regression analysis was applied using R for statistical analysis and coding of data. The ordinal regression was used to rank the predictor variables; A. Certification and Years of Experience, B. Advance degree and Years of Experience, and C. Certification and Advance Degree. In addition, reading levels were ranked from the lowest reading text level to the highest text level. The reading scores were collected from national board certified and non national board certified teachers. The data collected included the beginning of year and end of year reading scores. The dependent variable reading score is likely dependent on more than just board certification. Predictor variables, including advanced degrees and years of service included in the regression to give a more robust picture of the actual effect of board certification has on reading scores (McClendon, 1994). The researcher displayed data results of advanced degree and national board effects in a 2x2 contingency table. The table analysis was utilized to reveal the independence and dependence between the variables. The dispersion of the data occurred in the final stage of the analysis known as the inferential statistical phase. At this point the researcher determined whether a significant correlation exists ... For future research, researchers should continue to test techniques for balance, assistive technology, and strength in order for physical therapists to advance in their practice and to have the best outcome for their patient. The gaps of knowledge in this review is that there is no specific technique to help with gait for individuals with cerebral palsy. The Red Baron is a film directed by Nikolai Muellerschoen and produced by Niama Film which was released on April 10, 2008 but wasn t released in the US until March 19, 2010. This movie was based on a legendary German pilot who fought and died in World War 1. This pilot was known as Manfred von Richthofen. I believe that this film was nicely put together, the plot kept its viewers engaged and wanting to see what would happen next. In this essay I will be giving a brief explanation on the film and why it is or is not accurate and whether the producer did it on purpose or by mistake. At the beginning of the movie which takes place in 1906, Manfred is still a child. As a kid Manfred is out hunting with his younger brother Lothar von Richthofen and younger cousin, Wolfram Freiherr von Richthofen. Suddenly the sound of an airplane flying nearby flies over them. Amazed, Manfred jumps on his horse and follows the airplane with his arms spread out as though they were the wings of a plane themselves. This foreshadows him becoming a pilot in the future. After this scene the movies jumps ten years into the future which happens to be during World War 1. After the ten years have passed Manfred is a Lieutenant and is serving as a fighter pilot for the Imperial German Air Service. Lieutenant Richthofen is shown flying along the Western front where they drop a wreath over the funeral of an Allied pilot. The History of Modern Women and Body Art Essay The History of Modern Women and Body Art I chose to do this field report on body art because I, personally, find the topic very complex and interesting. It is for this reason that I decided to narrow the scope of my field research. I am focusing this report on the trends and evolution in body art as relating to modern women. When I say modern women I am referring to the women from about the 18th century to the current day. I chose to focus on women imparticular because of the strong societal pressure that is specifically place upon them to fulfill a certain role and aesthetically look a particular way. The slow acceptance of the tattoo began, but not without a wide belief in the stigma that a tattooed person was lower in status and in cultural advancement than that of the modern world (p 45 8). In America, tattoos soon began to be . modernized. and changed into more acceptable forms of body art (p.49). Around the beginning of the 20th Century, many everyday people were getting tattooed, but still the largest crowd getting these designs was servicemen (p. 51). A new fetish concerning the tattoo art was the emergence of the display of tattooed people, from the native to the modern tattooed person (p.53). Freak shows became a popular attraction in the amusement industry, but soon became solely focused on the made freak, the tattooed, as the view of natural born freaks evolved (p.53 4). During the late 1800s women began to emerge within the freak show atmosphere and even became the more valued attraction and could even use their sexuality to sell tickets. The heavy tattooing on these women required them to show their bodies with less clothing than was socially acceptable at the time. The tattooed women were careful to leave their faces and hands clear of tattoos so that it was possible for them to have an alternate career (p. 58). As shown by this deliberate planning, the stigma of the tattoo was very clear and it was not one of social acceptance. These women did pull of the image of being classy and feminine despite ... Breast Cancer is the most common cancer for women in the United States. Although more common in women, this cancer can also be found in men. The abnormal development of breast tissue cells ultimately generates Breast Cancer. However, there are many different things that can provoke these cells to develop. Even today, scientists are still unsure about all the factors that cause Breast Cancer. So that is why research continues to be done to find reasons as to why it is being developed and different ways to prevent it. They have discovered that breast cancer can be affected by both environmental and genetic factors. In addition to that, doctors do know that there are a few specific gene mutations that exist that are linked to Breast Cancer. Mutated genes can be acquired through life and some of these genes can create Breast Cancer. Some other common causes are the regular consumption of alcohol, the regular smoking of cigarettes, and being very overweight. Being exposed to the hormone estrogen for longer amounts of time is also very common in the development of Breast Cancer. As the college students on the campus of Truman State University go about their day to day lives, they too experience the phenomenon of heart rate variability. While resting and using little movement, many students spend a great number of hours each day studying a period of time when the body requires a smaller cardiac output in relation to times of movement. However, during the course of an academic day, Truman students, like the majority of human beings, are faced with instances under which time is limited, and they must increase work output to get from one destination to another. Additionally, there are instances in which physical activity is required with variation of difficulty within a workload/resistance. Through this understanding, one can see that the heart rate changes throughout the course of each day, and is thus dependent on the intensity of each daily activity. Although every student on Truman State University s campus has his/her own unique physiological makeup and personal physical fitness level every individual is impacted by the variability of his or her own heart rate in response to activities of daily life. The Visionary Skills By Richard Branson Richard Branson has proved his monumental visionary skills by persistently projecting his fantasies for the organisation and collaborating the resources to move in the direction of fulfilment of those fantasies. First of all, I agree with the statement that, International trade shaped the economy, culture and civilization of many Central Asian Silk Road societies in the pre Mongol era . The explanation of the term International trade literally means the exchange of goods between different countries in the world. Thank you for having us as mentors to review the issues at Roberts Cellars Company. We carefully studied the case of the situation at Roberts Cellars Company during our meeting. We as one group figured out that the problem at Roberts Cellars Company is the TCA a chemical that can cause musty odors and flavors in wine. TCA infects the cork, then is transferred to the wine when it comes into contact with the cork. Changing Trends in Sexual Orientation Changing Trends in Sexual Orientation According to Merriam Webster Medical Dictionary, sexual orientation refers to the inclination of an individual with respect to heterosexual, homosexual, and bisexual behavior. The famous Kinsey Reports by Alfred Kinsey (1948) claims that about 10% of American adults are homosexual. This astonishing figure is often presented as fact but is often criticized to be highly overestimated by academia. (Refer to Appendix 1 for figures presented by other institutes). Studies by National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles reviews that lesbian increased from 2.8% in 1990 to 9.7% in 2000 while gay reported to rise from 5.3% in 1990 to 8.4% in 2000, depicting upward trends that are consistent with reports ... But the general assumption that homosexual parents have adverse effects on the psychological and social development on a child makes it extremely difficult for gays and lesbians to become parents. However, the validity of this assumption is highly disputable as both parties claim to have statistical evident. On top of that, the greater willingness of people to be truthful about their sexual orientation has brought repercussion. Their visibility has invited the attention of anti gay activists. Gay rights movements are often accompany by anti gay rallies and many religious bodies have also express disapproval at this new sexual trend (Figure above). Homosexuals are also more susceptible to hatred assault compared to their straight counterpart. During the first half of the last century, electronic media such as the telegraph, radio and television to name a few were invented and became prevalent. Afterwards, the internet came into being and developed at an unprecedented rate to the point where it is now widely accepted that human history has entered into an information age. As claimed by a number of scholars, the appearance of new types of media can bring about dramatic influences on living conditions. Among them, Harold Innis, pioneer in this area of communication studies, is influential, firstly by employing two dimensions to media, namely time and space, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To clarify, the Internet adopts a distributed information storage model which means information is saved in different computers in a distributed manner, so if some information is lost from one computer, it still can be accessed in another (Kleinberg, 2006). Furthermore, along with the development of computer technology, a series of new data storage devices further make up for its duration, for example current popular data sharing softwares such as BT (ibid.). With enlarging storage abilities, information stored on the Internet can last for long periods of time (ibid.). According to Innis, in history, few empires with a notable exception of the Greek Empire can maintain a balanced relationship between space and time. Often there is the likelihood that one will be given priority over the other (Innis, 1950). Nonetheless, as analyzed above, the Internet has achieved a relatively stable balance between space and time. Following this, corresponding to the two biases of communication, there are both oral and written media. Oral communication can be seen as time binding because in oral societies, knowledge can only be passed through generations by word of mouth which generally take place within groups or communities (Innis, 1990). Also, because memory is limited, it is necessary to be particularly selective about knowledge, as a result of which, knowledge not related to maintaining tradition is difficult to be handed down (ibid.). ... PSYC 121: Introduction Psychology 1 Assessing the Relationship between Cognitive Empathy and both Primary and Secondary Psychopathy A. Craig 300353012 Amanda Richardson Monday, 5:10 7:00pm, EA404A Abstract This investigation is aimed to find whether there is a relationship between cognitive empathy and primary and secondary psychopathy. A correlational design was used, in which the Levenson self report scale Levenson (1995) and the Reading Eyes Mind Test (Baron Cohen et al., 2001) were administered to 452 first year psychology students. Major results showed a weak, significant, negative correlation between primary psychopathy and empathy; there was no significant relationship between secondary psychopathy and empathy. Concluding lack of empathy potentially correlates with primary psychopathy whereas secondary psychopathy shows no noticeable significance to empathy. I will first look at the multiplier effect of the state putting money into the California State University system and what will happen as a result of the divestment due to the budget cuts. (California State Governor s Office) According to a report presented to the Office of the Chancellor by IFC International for every one dollar spent by the state on the California State University system the CSU generates $5.43 for California s economy annually. When enhanced earnings by graduates are taken into account, the annual return rises to more than $23 for each $1 invested. (ICF International) This, however, does not necessarily mean than the $542.4 million in cuts is multiplied by $23, resulting in a total decrease of $12.475 billion in spending. This is because the relationship isn t necessarily completely linear. Since the decrease is only 8.5% then the relationship might still be linear, which would mean that there will be $12.475 billion in spending lost. The other reality might be that it is not linear, which would mean the total loss of spending would be less than $12.475 billion. Another area I will look at for the California State University system s budget cuts is the resulting enrollment cuts. With less money coming in from the state the universities have to save money by enrolling fewer students. However, the money cut from the CSU budget doesn t have a direct relationship to a decrease in enrollment. The change in enrollment is determined by the universities and is filled every semester. • 29. Causes Of The Stratovolcano Tambora The stratovolcano Tambora makes up the 60 km wide Sanggar Peninsula on northern Sumbawa Island, Indonesia, and is still currently active today. Erupting on April 10, 1815, Tambora, which is considered the largest observed eruption in recorded history, induced mass destruction to villages, widespread famine, and global climate change that would last for years to come. Standing nearly 14,000 feet high, Tambora experienced small tremors and streams of pyroclastic flow before erupting, shooting 60 megatons of sulfur, 36 cubic miles of ash, pumice, and aerosols into the atmosphere. Sulfurous gas from the volcano combined with water vapor droplets in the air, which then stuck in earth s atmosphere, and were dispersed through both hemispheres due to stratospheric currents. These particles then increased sunlight absorption, contributing to lower amounts of sunlight seen from earth. This caused a drop in global temperatures by nearly 5.4 degrees fahrenheit. These temperature drops reached as far as New England, which caused difficulty in crop production and increased famine, leading to the year of 1816 being called the year without a summer. The initial impact of the eruption killed somewhere around 10,000 citizens instantly, while the chain of events afterwards, including food shortages, famine, pyroclastic flows, and tsunamis, caused an estimated 100,000 deaths. The massive eruption measured a 7 on the VEI scale, or Volcanic Explosivity Index, and released around 100 cubic km of magma. In total, it lasted no more than 3 days, and 300 500 million kilograms of volcanic debris was released per second. Stratovolcanoes produce magma that contain high amounts of silica, giving it a high viscosity, or thickness, causing it to not flow very far. 500,000 square kilometers of land around Tambora was covered with at least 1 centimeter of ash. Following the eruption, a collapse caldera was formed. These are formed when a powerful volcanic eruption occurs, and collapses in on the weak rock that had previously been supporting the magma chamber underneath the volcano, forming a crater. This caldera is now around 1.2 kilometers deep, meaning the volcano lost several kilometers of elevation following the eruption. It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The different theories discussed focus on the workings of different parts of the body, from the molecular level of DNA mutations and replication, to the organism level of becoming worn out. Many proteins can be affected, such as enzymes, proteins comprising muscle tissue, and a recently discovered type of protein called transcription factors, which bind to DNA and regulate the individual activities of genes themselves. Physical mutagens are substances that increase the chance of mutation and include such physical phenomena as x rays and radioactivity from radium. The atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan are examples of physical mutagens that caused an increase in the number of cases of leukemia. Certain chemicals and radiation cause mutations to occur in DNA by giving off high energy particles. These particles collide with the DNA and knock off atoms of the DNA randomly, damaging it. DNA consists of sequences of four possible nitrogenous bases: adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine, paired so that adenine always pairs with thymine, and guanine always pairs with cytosine. As cells repair the damaged DNA, a different DNA base is often substituted. This base substitution is known as a point mutation and can cause the production of a defective or damaged protein. Apart from being caused by radiation or chemicals, mutations also occur spontaneously but at lower rates. Physicist Leo Szilard and biochemist Denham Harmon proposed that because most ... Maharsh Shah, M.S in Telecommunications, Southern Methodist University The evolution of 3G technologies and system into 4G evolution is driven by the development and creation of latest and upgraded services for the mobile devices, and is enabled by this similar advancement for the respective mobile systems. The development of LTE and LTE Advanced technologies, with Advanced specifying the only difference between LTE release 10 /LTE Advanced and ITU/IMT Advanced. The work on developing these technologies LTE and LTE Advanced is performed as an ongoing continuous task within the 3GPP, the same organization the developed the first 3G system namely WCDMA and HSPA. The process for defining IMT Advanced was set by ITU R WP5D(Working ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Release 10 of LTE is the version that is approved by the ITU R as an IMT Advanced technology and so is called LTE Advanced. Release 10 of the LTE that came out in March 2011 included carrier aggregation, enhanced downlink MIMO, uplink MIMO, enhanced ICIC and advanced relays. Following the Release 10 came the Release 11 that incorporated enhanced carrier aggregation and additional intra band carrier aggregation. In 2008 the work associated with IMT Advanced within the ITU R circulated the detailed requirements and process via a circular letter. For 3GPP, LTE advanced is not a new technology but is an evolutionary step in the ongoing development of LTE. To reach the IMT Advanced standards, wider bandwidth by aggregation of various multiple carriers and evolved use of advanced antenna techniques in both downlink and uplink are the two main phenomenon added in the Release 10 of LTE. The transmission scheme used for this technology is called OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) which is also prevalent in other radio access technologies like WiMax and DVB broadcasting technologies. The work on LTE started in the late 2004 with the aim of providing new radio access technology that focused on packet switched data. The tasks include user/system, throughput, peak data rates, spectral efficiency and user plane latency. ITU defined a set of requirements for IMT Advanced which include support for a ... The Coen Brothers managed to capture the spirit of friendship bonding, conflicts, characters internal struggles as well as personal desires with exceptional cinematography and mise en scene ... And so did Donny. Donny, who loved bowling. The reason why the director placed this line in the eulogy is to show how Walter considered this an opportunity to a closure of years and years wasted in memories. The Coen Brothers put a vivid, living proof of Walter being stuck in the past on screen via his costume throughout the movie with his trademark safari vest, amber lens aviator sunglasses and the military dog tag that he always kept close in the film. Apart from the genuine friendship between the Dude, Walter and Donny, the eulogy dialogue also implies another layer of meaning from the movie concerning generation loss, changes and the cycle of life. Although the three main characters are bound together by bowling but Donny is the only one we ever do see bowl, in fact, we only seem to notice his existence at the bowling alley but his bowling results never did come to the Dude nor Walter s notice. From the way how Donny let Walter call him names, swear at him and never really get to enjoy bowling s fun, to Donny being scared to death with an heart attack caused by Nihilists attack or even after Donny s death, when there is no family member but only Walter and the Dude to take care of his remains indicates a generation ignored and lost. In the eulogy scene, the director used an unusual composition than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
