The Thematic Concept Of Fear In Beowulf And Gilgamesh
Overall Introduction:
For years, literature has been used to teach us important morals and life lessons. These life lessons are
often universal in nature. This means that no matter what age, gender, or status a person is, anyone can
relate to the theme being discussed. For this reason they are called universal themes. Non universal
themes are themes that are specific to the story being told, but are not considered universally
understood. The following demonstrates that Beowulf and Gilgamesh both have the same universal
thematic statement concept of fear in addition to a multiple non universal themes throughout them.
Thematic Discussion When looking at the universal theme Gilgamesh and Beowulf, the thematic
concept is fear. The thematic statement for this universal theme would be: In literature, as well as in
real life, man often my come up against someone or something he fears and then must decide whether
or not they will act in cowardly or courageous way . The thematic concept for Beowulf that is a non
universal theme would be political generosity. The thematic statement would be that: In Beowulf, one
can see how generosity and hospitality were considered very important to the Danish culture.
However, this not considered a universal theme, because although generosity and hospitality may have
been considered very important attributes at the time Beowulf was written, not every culture of the
time considered these nicetes to be of the highest importance. The thematic

Mary Todd Mary Todd Summary
The main idea of the book was love. It was a love that lasted through all the hardships, controversies,
and death. Mary Todd, a Kentuckian from a wealthy family with an interest in politics caught the eye
of a young lawyer named Abraham Lincoln. Even during the war, where her family was confederates
and they were dying, both Abraham and Mary knew that they were doing the right thing in preserving
the Union. After Abraham Lincoln died, she blamed herself and became mental unstable and
eventually died. Her whole life was full of both love and despair.
They first met at a dance in Springfield, Illinois in 1839; Mary Todd was from Kentucky and was
older and wiser than most of the other girls at the dance. The older men liked to talk to her and ...

While the prices for furniture, china, and wallpaper were reasonable considering the times, people said
she was misusing funds. She now had a reputation as an insatiable shopper. Their sons, Tad, Edward,
Willie, and Robert were both criticized and loved. They were called undisciplined brats, but they were
also praised for their intelligence and charm. But Mrs. Lincoln didn t care because love meant
everything to her and family always came first. Tad was her most favorite out of the four boys; she
said that his death hurt her more than her husband s death. Both Edward and Willie died early and her
heart turned cold on Robert because he had her committed for insanity. The day of Abraham s death,
she admitted that they were holding hands during the play and after John Wilkes Booth shot him.
William H. Herndon, her enemy, tarnished her image beyond repair. He said Mary made Lincolns
home hell on earth, harassed and nagged Lincoln day and night, and only marrying him as revenge for
him failing to show up on their first date. He also said that Lincoln never loved her. After about a year
after Lincoln s assassination, Herndon said a woman named Ann Rutledge was the woman Lincoln

Wilhelm Reich Essay
Wilhelm Reich was born in the Austro Hungarian Empire on March 24th, 1897. His parents were
farmers, and at a young age Reich developed a fascination with the life processes of plants and
animals. His formal education at this time was provided by a private tutor.
When Reich was 14, he discovered his mother was having an affair with his tutor. After Reich
reported this to his father, his mother committed suicide. Atwood and Stolorow (1977) have
speculated that this tragedy may have contributed to Reich s most significant theories.
After the death of his father three years later, Reich took over the family farm until it was destroyed by
the Russians in 1915. At that time he joined the Austrian Army. Upon returning from the war, Reich ...

Because sexuality is often shrouded in ignorance and shame, many people are not able to attain this
release and, according to Reich, are thereby doomed to ill health and neurotic disturbances.
In order to combat societal pressure and educate the youth, Reich began organizing mental hygiene
clinics and sex counseling. He also began joining liberal and socialistic groups at this time, convinced
that only an overthrow of authoritarian society could ultimately alleviate the neurotic suffering of its
constituents. To this end, in 1930 he left his wife and daughters and traveled to Berlin to join the
Communist Party. Three years later, Reich would be expelled from the Party because of his views
regarding sexuality.
With the rise of Hitler, Reich left Germany and traveled to Denmark, and then fled to Sweden to
escape the Nazis. Sweden expelled him, and Reich moved on to Norway, where he began his bion
experiments. It was during these experiments that he discovered what he would term orgone energy, a
form of life energy which the bions emitted. He built and began experimenting with a device intended
to attract and concentrate orgone energy, the orgone accumulator, or ORAC.
In 1939, Reich accepted an invitation to lecture at the New School for Social Research in New York
City, and he moved to the United States. He married again, and in 1944 his son Peter was born. He
continued to experiment with the ORAC, and in 1948 he is said to

Summary Of Early Morning Rocky Mountains
Viewed at Art Gallery of Ontario (September 21, 2016)
A Formal Analysis of J.EH MacDonald s Early Morning, Rocky Mountains
J.E.H MacDonald created his painting Early Morning, Rocky Mountains using oil paint on canvas. As
suggested through the title, the subject of the painting is the rocky mountains with the early morning
sun rising above them. This painting was donated to and is currently being displayed at the Art Gallery
of Ontario in Toronto, Ontario. It is not a very large painting at 76.2 x 89.2 cm; just short of being 1 x
1 m which, in comparison to other paintings in the gallery, is considerably smaller. It s size, however,
makes it easy to view in its entirety regardless of where you stand to it. This painting has an overall

One could argue that having so many types and ways of lines would take away from the calmness of
the painting. In this case, however, the combination of line types and subtlety of linear details only add
to the scene. They show that it is not trying to conceal the fact that it is a painting and still the image is
still able to present the scene in complete clarity. As far as these lines helping to balance the piece,
since much of the lines are used to bring out details in the landscape, they work really well together to

Siddhartha s Journey To Enlightenment
Enlightenment is a word to loop in the ideas of gaining insight into the mind and achieving peace with
in ourselves, with releasing ourselves from the harshness of life (Wikipedia). In our current time,
many people now are still trying to reach enlightenment as many religions that bring up the idea of
becoming at peace with ourselves spreads to new people. In the novel Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse,
we experience the journey of a man who strives to reach enlightenment. He comes across many
different characters, but here, we focus on four people, including Siddhartha, himself. Siddhartha,
Govinda, Gotama, and Vasudeva don t all reach true peace the same way. Instead, they find their own
ways to be purely content with their different lives. Though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

His Self had crawled into this priesthood, into this arrogance, into this intellectuality. It sat there
tightly and grew, while he thought he was destroying it by fasting and penitence. Now he understood it
and realized that the inward voice had been right, that no teacher could be bought him salvation. (99)
Siddhartha realizes that he was unhappy because he knew too much. To reach what he needed to
achieve he needed to get rid of his thirst for knowledge. His perspective on how to reach peace
changed from how he saw it from the beginning; he believed that salvation was achieved from
knowledge and being satisfied of what he had learned. Now, he sees that he was unhappy because he
craved more and that took over his other senses. When someone is seeking, said Siddhartha, it
happens quite easily that he only sees the thing that he is seeking; that he is unable to find anything,
unable to absorb anything, because he is only thinking of the thing he is seeking, because he has a
goal, because he is obsessed with his goal. Seeking means: to have a goal; but finding means: to be
free, to be receptive, to have no goal. You, O worthy one, are perhaps a seeker, for in striving towards
your goal, you do not see many things that are under your nose (140). The words he is telling his dear

In the area once famous for being home to Count Dracula, that we call Transylvania, at remote village
named Sapanta lies a graveyard that has attracted worldwide attention. The reason for this is simply
the fact that the people here do not lay lost loved ones to rest in any sombre fashion as one might
expect but more as a celebration of their lives.
This remarkable place is aptly dubbed the Merry Cemetery, simply because the bereaved celebrate
their lost ones with colourful crosses and the whole place reverberates with an atmosphere of

The Differences in Laws and Privacy in the United States...
In Computer Security what are the differences in laws and privacy between United States vs.
European Union? Do the laws that a society have in place deter computer hacking or should we
require to have better systems and technology to prevent such an attacks. In reviewing the US s
Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and the changes that have been made to improve computer security in
the private sector, to see if these enough to protect our systems from cybercrimes? Will the addition of
the Aaron law to this act going to improve computer security? Is the government just playing with
terms and phase, or can this amendment true help protect our systems and how will hacking be
handled in the future? I will outline that our government is merely addressing hacking on a, as it
happened bases compared to the European Union and does not clearly define the modern issue that we
are handling or what they will become.
The Computer Fraud Abuse Act (18 USC 1030) is legislation that was first enacted in 1986 to clarify
the existing computer fraud law created in 1984 it helped to identify and speak to malicious code and
hacking attacks. The legislation identifies what is consider a crime and were the line are between
crime and code are. Even though the Act clearly details what is not acceptable, it falls short in today s
modern time. The act was constructed in a time well before the Internet was a force that everyone uses

Minerva Mirabel is the courageous and exciting character in the story. She fought in the revolution

years because of limitations. Her father (Papa) owned a plantation which got plenty of money so that
they could live in a sort of richy way. Minerva went to Inmaculada Concepcion (a school) with her
sister, Patria, where Minerva finally felt free. After months of school, Minerva had made friends with
an assortment of people. Minerva, and her newfound friends Sinita, Elsa, and Lourdes, decided to do a

Trujillo acted sexual towards her, so she slapped him. They left the party early, resulting in their father

Feudalism In Siegfried
IT S INTERESTING to see how history is distorted in the act of grasping it: how it bends to fit the
mind of the person who takes it in. You can investigate a historical epoch and watch as others, arriving
at disparate conclusions, paint a portrait with a selection of colors chosen to fulfill their needs. A man
is bound to feel that in the careless approach of others, he himself stands accused: is he not guilty of
the same crime, of distorting history to his own ends, lacking merely the person with sufficient
subtlety to call him to account?
Joachim Fest said that the political maturity of the German people came only after the loss of their
inner, spiritually romantic interior the relic of feudalism that had not yet given way. This world of
glorious Heroes and Grand Gestures which Wagner seeked to portray in music, and which Hitler
forged a connection to largely through Wagner s operas, apparently watching Siegfried 30 or more
times. Ah, Heroic artwork.
One of the main differences between the lingering feudalistic mindset of Germany and the
individualist mindset which was rising in the West, was the relationship to authority. In the West, it
was gradually being understood that self interest could be reliably deferred to when dealing with one s
superiors and even the concept of a superior, of someone placed above oneself in the natural order,
was becoming incomprehensible. In Germany, respect for authority still had it s unquestioning,
deferential, semi religious

Grand Junction, Colorado is a town in Western Colorado that has taken steps to excel in the health
care field by providing cost effective and efficient care to their community. In lecture this week, we
have learned that the key system concepts are: shared vision, shared reality, people, parts,
interrelationships, leverage, adaptability and iterative learning.1 The article: Grand Junction,
Colorado: A Health Community That Works, is an example of a patient centered medical home that
currently exists in the United States, and should be looked at as a possible solution to our current
health care overspending crisis. I believe that the health care provided in Grand Junction, Colorado

Shared Reality: Not only did the medical community share a vision, they also shared data through the
Quality Health Network (QHN)2. They developed an IT system that is still in the infancy stages in the
rest of the United States where data is shared between various providers. There is a common network
that providers are able to log into and see other providers notes and care plans. This sharing of
information has decreased the performance of duplicate tests/procedures and has decreased the costs
and increased the quality of care that patients in the Grand Junction community receive. The
information in the shared data system was also used to promote transparency of data on physician
performance to formulate a health care model that focused on the patient and through peer pressure,
caused the providers to strive for better outcomes. People: We have learned that the United States is
lacking providers in the primary care field but Grand Junction actually has an increased number of
PCPs in their community, and this has allowed them to manage their patient s care more in depth.2
Having the social service groups to assist with necessary patient follow up and home care has also
worked favorably for them. In addition, they have highly motivated individuals that are seeking to
make a change in the way that health care is delivered. This is the most important aspect of the whole
system, because without these vital players, the system would

American Environmental Movement
Have you ever caught yourself criticizing a littered area of your favorite park? Or cringed at the bitter
taste of an apple s skin, due to heavy pesticides? Like you, many Americans began to socially
denounce the mistreatment of their natural world, thus sweeping an environmental movement across
the United States. The modern environmentalist ideas that help safe guard the nature in our everyday
world have grown into a hugely adopted cultural movement through decades of research and
persuasion. Its influence on America and other parts of the world vastly differs from society to society,
however, the fundamental ideas seem to remain concrete through time.
The American environmental movement holds itself in high esteem both in the common individual
opinion, and its literal definition. The environmental movement describes the attempt to purify and
conserve natural resources. This fundamental movement bore its beginnings in rough times for the

Nevertheless, there are several arguments regarding the definition of self regarding action and other
regarding action. An example in modern society today could be the banning of drug use. As in most
countries, drug use is forbidden by legislation, but one could argue that whether the use of drug is self
regarding action or other regarding action. To be fair, the use of drugs could really be a self regarding
action when it came to addiction and self consumption. However, if taking Washington states in the
United States as an example, where it has just recently legalise the use of marihuana, yet it did not set
up any regulation regarding to the limitation of use. Hence, the increase of car accident while using
marihuana and thus the use of drug could become an other regarding action. At this point, one could
argue that in such a case, the state ought to have the rights to limit individuals liberty. Furthermore,
taking gun regulation as another example, where most people today around the world purchase a gun

Brain Tumors In The Brain
Brain tumor is a congregation or growth of abnormal cells in the brain. There are many different types
of brain tumors exist. Some brain tumors are benign and some are malignant (cancer). Brain tumors
can start in the brain, or cancer can start in other parts of the body and spread to the brain. Most
benign brain tumors do not contain cancer cells. Usually benign tumors can be removed and less

surrounding tissue or metastasize to other parts of the body. However, benign tumors can obstruct
sensitive areas of the brain and cause serious health problems. On the other hand, benign tumors in

The Salt Satyagrah Strengths And Weaknesses
The Salt Satyagraha: Strengths and Weaknesses
On 12 March 1930, Gandhi started a historic march to Dandi known as the Salt Satyagraha. It was an
act of Civil Disobedience Movement against the British tax law in India. Gandhi and 78 satyagrahis
(volunteers) walked for 24 days. On the way to Dandi, they were able to reach 40 villages and towns
where about 50,000 people heard their messages. Gandhi broke the salt law on 6 April 1930, and
millions of people throughout India followed the act. The entire country became conscious of the
struggle for Purna Swaraj (independence). The repertoire of the Salt Satyagraha then was massively

1. Strong Leading Figure
A leader plays an important role in a campaign. There are at least four important roles that a leader
must play. These roles are a thinker, communicator, decision maker and team builder. A leader must
have a vision. He sets a clear goal for the campaign. He provides direction, instruction and guidance in
achieving that goal. A leader also has to be a good communicator. He should understand the nature of
the campaign and all of the related stakeholders. He tailors the message accordingly in order to
influence his audience.
The success of a campaign mostly relies on its leader s knowledge and experience. A leader analyses
information and resources available. He makes important decisions, such as choosing the best tactics
to implement the campaign. Moreover, a leader should be a successful team builder. He builds a solid
internal team first, then reach further support from a larger crowds. In addition, a good leader should
involve directly in the campaign, working together with his team and supporters.
The Salt Satyagraha relied much on Gandhi s strong leadership. Gandhi set a goal for the campaign: to
build the sense of independence (Swaraj) in the heart of every Indians. In order to reach that goal,
Gandhi chose salt as a symbol. Gandhi argued that there was an indispensable need for salt besides air
and water. Salt was everyone s concern; thus, it would catch the attention of

economy after The Great Depression and The Treaty of Versailles (Treaty of Versailles PPT, 2015).
Some of the youth in Germany was brainwashed due to the Jewish and anti Nazi teachers being forced

To begin with, looking at the sandstone model we can then identify its status and ownership through
its classification being established as either moveable or heritable. However, if the structure is held to

affected our results as the beam of light being projected out of the light box may have lost its intensity;
also resulting in the light metre picking up the surrounding light as well as the dull light beam.
Ultimately, we may have collected inaccurate data due to the excess of light. The instrument used to
measure the apparent magnitude of the star (light box beam) in our practical, had no way of displaying
if it was perpendicular to the desk. We noticed whilst using the light metre, a slight tilt of the
instrument could increase or decrease the amount of light being detected, changing the figure
displayed on the screen. As the person responsible for holing the instrument, I found it rather
challenging to keep it at the same angle for every increment. The change of angle and light detected
could have interfered with our data

Odysseus Or Gilgamesh
Odysseus or Gilgamesh Will the real Epic Hero please stand up?
Gilgamesh went to the entrance into the mountain and entered the darkness alone, without a
companion. By the time he reached the end of the first league the darkness was total, nothing behind
or before. He made his way, companionless, to the end (Book 9 p. 51, The Epic of Gilgamesh). In The
Epic of Gilgamesh, an epic poem translated by N.K. Sanders, Gilgamesh is a character who is by all
accounts an epic hero. As a person of nobility, he becomes tyrannical and overpowering in his
strength, until the gods present him with a challenge an equal counterpart to Gilgamesh s fortitude.
Gilgamesh battles with this new encountered foe, named Enkidu, yet because of their equivalent
vitality, they end up cancelling each other out, and through a twist of events, Gilgamesh befriends
Enkidu. This friendship is everlasting, through thick and thin. After Enkidu s death and traveling in
search for an answer to life s cruelty and abandonment, Gilgamesh finds a new perspective on life and
returns home to his rightful place on the throne. The Epic of Gilgamesh entails the hardships and
retribution that the main character, Gilgamesh, ⅔ god and ⅓ human and King of Uruk, endures.
Comparatively, Gilgamesh is more of an epic hero than Odysseus from The Odyssey by Homer,
whose story also follows the structure of the Epic Hero Cycle. This is because Gilgamesh embarks on
multiple epic journeys, and on the way, grows and learns from his

William Wordsworth s `` A Slumber Did My Spirit Seal ``
Poems Assignment William Wordsworth is a British Romanticist that is born in Cockermouth in the
Lake District of England in 1770. In the year 1795 he moved with his sister Dorothy Wordsworth to
Dorset in the Lake District near his friend Samuel Taylor Coleridge. These two people in the life of
William Wordsworth have played an important role in his works, particularly in the Lucy Poems .
Wordsworth wrote a series of poems that revolves around the existence of a certain Lucy which
identity was never known or revealed by Wordsworth himself. William Wordsworth is considered as
one of the pillars that shaped early English Romantic movement. (Staroň 4) and the most recognized
romantic poems that he wrote is the Lucy poems. The Lucy poems contains five series of poems
entitled A slumber did my spirit seal , She dwelt among the untrodden ways , Strange fits of passion
have I known , Three years she grew in sun and shower and I travelled among unknown men which
were arranged in a series by poem experts that studied Wordsworth poems. For this paper we would
only be focusing on two poems the She dwelt among the untrodden ways and the I travelled among
unknown men as we examine their themes and content. A theory for She dwelt among the untrodden
ways is that it was written to represent an attempt to give literary expression and distance to
Wordsworth s feeling of affection for his sister. (MacGillivray) But this was never proven as the
character of Lucy was

Analysis Of Paul Bloom s People Don T Want Equality, They...
The argument I chose to analyze was People Don t Actually Want Equality, They Want Fairness by
Paul Bloom. In this argument, Bloom writes about how people want fairness for the same work, but
they did an experiment with these two children to clean up their rooms and was rewarded with erasers,
and there were only five erasers, so it was impossible to split the erasers unless you give them both
each two erasers and throw out the extra erasers or later give the extra eraser to one of the children
without the other child knowing. Or they would give three to one child and two to the other child and
explain why the child with the most erasers was rewarded more because that child out of the two did
the most work. The children were okay with inequality, but as long as it was fair. People think because

The Author, Paul Bloom expressed about other famous people s work, e.g., Harry Frankfurt s recently
published book On Inequality, Frankfurt makes a moral claim, but a psychological remark, that
economic equality has no intrinsic value , and if people take the time to reflect, they ll realize equality
isn t really what s bothering them. . When you compare between the riches and the very well off, it s
proportional because both sides are financially stable while the well off and the poor would have
inequalities. If the whole world was in poverty, it would be equal, but few would rather live how we
are today. Paul Bloom also credits an article titled Americans Want to Live in a Much More Equal
Country (They Just Don t Realize It) written by Dan Ariely. Paul Bloom quoted Ariely s article, the
vast majority of Americans prefer a distribution of wealth more equal than what exists in Sweden,
which is often placed rhetorically at the extreme far left in terms of political ideology.. . Based on
Ariely s articles, people don t want equality, they want fairness, and to create a perfect society by
distributing the nation s wealth. Next, Bloom credits Christopher

Defective Cutaneous Wound Healing
Abstract Wound healing after injury is a vital process. Defective cutaneous wound healing is of major
clinical importance as it may lead to serious complications like necrosis and septicaemia. Chronic
wound inflammation and chronic wound ulcers like pressure ulcers, chronic venous ulcers, and most
commonly diabetic foot ulcers carry a high risk of non traumatic amputation and high morbidity rate.
The available therapeutic trials are not sufficient. Understanding the molecular basis of wound healing
can help in the development of novel therapeutic approaches. A prolonged inflammatory phase of

It has an important role in controlling fluid loss from the body, regulation of body temperature and
protection against microorganisms or other external influences (Nestle et al., 2009). The skin
comprises three distinct histological layers which are: Epidermis, Dermis and the subcutaneous layer
of adipose tissue (Kanitakis, 2002). The epidermis is the external layer of the skin, mainly composed
of keratinized stratified squamous epithelial. Epidermis is made up of keratinocytes (90%);
melanocytes (8%) and the other (2%) represent Langerhans cells, Merkel cells and immunologically
active cells derived from bone marrow (Kolarsick et al., 2011). Next to the epidermis is the dermis,
which is composed of connective tissues (collagen and elastic fibres), blood vessels, sensory nerve
endings, sebaceous glands, sweat glands, extracellular matrix (ECM), hair follicles and cells like
dermal dendritic cells, fibroblasts, mast cells and macrophages. The dermis provides nutrition and
support to the epidermis (Burr and Penzer, 2005). The last layer that separate the skin from internal
parts of the body is called subcutaneous layer which is primarily composed of adipose tissue that acts
to regulate body temperature in addition to its involvement in sensory and protective functions (James

The Levels Of Government In The United States
The government affects Americans in several ways that many fail to realize. One could not walk down
the street without seeing the government s effect on our everyday lives. The questions we may have
though are what are the levels of government? What is federalism? How does the government affect
individuals every day? Do we need government? Do Americans appreciate the importance of our
government? These are all questions that will be answered for we as individuals must understand how
this government works before we can make a difference in bettering this country. The spheres (Levels)
of government include National, State (Provincial), and Local. It is these three spheres of government
that affect our day to day life. The national government provides the states with protection, enough
power to maintain foreign policy, and the ability to collect taxes. The state government as stated in the
federalist papers State Governments, will have the advantage with regard to the predilection and
support of the people. (Hamilton, Jay, Madison 259), for the states have those powers of not expressed
to the federal government in the constitution. Local government is the administration of a town,
district, or county within a state that provides citizens of that area with representatives to uphold the
laws of those living in the area. Federalism can be defined as, ...a system of government in which
entities such as states or provinces share power with a national government. The United

Essay about King Lear vs. the Stone Angel
It has been said that, Rivers and mountains may change; human nature, never. (worldofquotes.com)
This is a quote that can be deconstructed when examining William Shakespeare s King Lear and
Margaret Laurence s The Stone Angel. When reviewing the two books the main characters, King Lear
and Hagar, are easily comparable. The first similarity becomes apparent when King Lear and Hagar
are both developed as flawed characters. Secondly, because of their flaws the two characters become
blind to reality. Thirdly, after being deceived by themselves and others as a result of their blindness,
both characters seek refuge outside of their own homes. By leaving their homes the characters are able
to gain perspective on themselves and their pasts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Faced with the reality that neither of his daughters truly love and support him as they had claimed
Lear says to Regan, No, Regan, thou shalt never have my curse. (II.iv.170) After realizing her open
lack of love for him Lear pleads to Regan and himself, Thou better knowest/ The offices of nature,
bond of childhood,/ Effects of courtesy, dues of gratitude./ Thy half of the kingdom hast thou not

profess their love, he has now been deceived by their falsely promoted emotions and is impervious to
the fact that his daughters have used him to obtain their own power and possessions. In the same way
that Lear is blinded to the actions of his daughters because of his flaws, Hagar is blind to her own
actions because she is too prideful. When Marvin and Doris try to explain that they are no longer able
to provide Hagar with the care she needs Doris mentions that Hagar has been wetting her sheets.
Struck by the accusation that she could be so irresponsible and not know about it Hagar says angrily,
That s a lie. I never did any such thing. (74) Even though Doris and Marvin both know that Hagar has
been wetting her sheets every night, Hagar has too much pride to admit that she may have lost control
of her own body. Evidently it is because of Hagar s pride that she will not acknowledge or admit to her
unflattering actions. After recognizing the flaws of both King Lear and

Alfred Hitchcock Point Of View
Alfred Hitchcock s cinematic style contains an array of stylistic devices, notably the point of view
shot. Using point of view editing, the audience repeatedly [sees] events through the eyes of an
individual character. (Walker) The audience is privy to only what the character knows and likewise
absorbs the character s emotional journey. As the audience s emotional investment/identification with
the protagonist grows, so does the plot amplifying the audience s empathy for the character s
heartache, longing, and anxiety, creating the perfect recipe for a suspenseful thriller. Hitchcock
employs point of view editing in the films, Rear Window and Vertigo to exemplify the protagonist s
mindset and to control the amount of information the audience made be aware of.

As Jeffries focuses more on each character, the audience learns more about that character s personality

Crappie like most panfish consume many different food sources including baitfish, zooplankton,

also swap out the Prince Nymph for any bead head or non bead head variation of a Mayfly Nymph,
Hares Ear Nymph or mix it up and see what works in your area. Crappie will feed up or out so you

Description of Psychological process:
When I began examining specific cross cultural differences in psychological processes, a particular
example that resonated heavily and constantly in my head came from the original article called:
Cultural and Educational Influences on Pain of Childbirth by Dr. Matisyohu Weisenberg and Zahava
Caspi. In this study the authors examined the effects that educational history and differing
sociocultural families of origin have on communicated ratings of pain and specific pain behavior

After describing universally high levels of pain prevalent during child birthing, the researchers go on

Analysis Of The Film The An Inconvenient Truth
em{An Inconvenient Truth }em is a documentary film directed by Davis Guggenheim about the
endeavor of Al Gore, former United States vice president, to convince the audience that global
warming is a severe problem that has influenced the environment and the way humans lived. The film
combines apocalyptic rhetoric with other environment rhetorics, including scientific rhetoric,
utilitarian rhetoric and aesthetic rhetoric, to persuades the audience apocalyptically that unavoidable
and irreparable environment problems will occur and gives the audience a feeling of powerlessness.
And the film, at the same time, tempers apocalypticism to encourage audiences to confront the global
warming and to convince audiences that they have the ability to help solving the problem.

In this screen shot you can see that there is only one other studio space in Harrogate, and after looking

The definition of faith is the persuasion of the mind that a certain statement is true. Its primary idea is
trust. It admits of many degrees up to full assurance of faith, in accordance with the evidence on

his body if he ate the king s food or drank his wine, he was permitted to drink water and eat
vegetables. Daniel interpreted Nebuchadnezzar s first dream of a statue made of four metals (Dan 2:1

your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets (Dan 2:46, 47). He then

Romeo would sneak back in to Verona, dig her up, take her body out of the coffin, and they would run
away and be happy. At first Juliet was skeptical of the plan she had multiple fears but in the end
agreed that this was the only chance she had. However, this plan might of worked if Friar Laurence s
servant boy could have gotten the message to Romeo sooner. Therefore Romeo received the news that
Juliet was really dead. Romeo ends up committing suicide because he thought his wife was deceased.
Now Romeo is dead and the whole town thinks Juliet is dead. Friar Laurence has made gigantic

Inclusive Education in South Africa
The Zulu tribe of South Africa is the largest ethnic group in the country and its language is the most
frequently used of all in South Africa. (Hamlett) The tribe was first discovered when Portugal settled
the land, and since then the tribe and its relationships with the colonists is anything but peaceful, and
to this day there still is tension. Maybe because of this, the education system throughout the 1900 s
refused to allow for the teaching of African culture other than stereotypes and other inaccurate
information that the colonists approved. The Zulu tribe s lack of education and the use of non native
languages in school paired with its relationship toward further discrimination later in life is an
indication that not teaching indigenous culture leads to real world discrimination. South Africa was
segregated until 1994 and therefore is not the epitome of racial tolerance, but it is the treatment of
education of their indigenous tribe the Zulu that shows that education controlled by one culture will
lead to further segregation and worse conditions for the races out of the loop. Now, the last four
presidents of South Africa were black and the current one is Zulu but even with influence in the
highest office the tribe is unable to find work or make a life that is comparable to their white
counterparts. The discrimination of education has led to longer consequences than the segregation and
disenfranchisement because now there are generations of natives unable to compete

The Cold War and the Economic Decline of the USSR
Apart from the two great wars, the Cold War was the most remarkable feature of twentieth century, a
period of extreme hostility without actual war. By the end of the Great War, Soviet Union emerged as
a powerful revolutionary state that gradually evolved into an empire over the course of following
decades. It served as an ideological model for one third of the world and was considered as a secure
and stable society by the rest. During this period the world was divided into two distinct blocs, the
proponents of democracy led by United States of America (USA) and the Socialist regimes headed by
the Soviet Union. Having almost equal military parity, the hostilities between the two superpower was
so great that many feared dooms day scenario in case war broke out. Although, the effort by both sides
to undermine and damage the interest of each other was no hidden secret, yet the military parity
resulted mostly in a stalemate. This sudden and peaceful conclusion of Cold War and breakdown of
Soviet Union therefore came as a surprise to all.
The past two decades has witnessed countless argument in the academia regarding the surprisingly
abrupt end of Cold War. Scholars of various theoretical perspectives have come up with different
evidences explaining the sudden collapse of Soviet Union. However, there are still disagreement on
the core issues which contributed most. While some argue regarding the material reasons such as
stagnation of economy, others focus on the personalities

DIY Driveway Gates
DIY Driveway Gates
A lot of people want the fenced in yard and driveway gate so that they can know when their kids or
pets are outside, they are safe. They like knowing that people cannot simply wander onto their
property and it makes a house look nice if you have a nice driveway gate up. However, hiring a
professional to install a gate, much like hiring someone to install a garage door, can be costly. A lot of
people don t have that money to invest in their property, so instead they attempt to create their own
gate in an effort to save a little money. The problem is, most people do not realize all that they must
have to build DIY driveway gates.

The Minimum Wage
There have been multiple debates on whether or not the minimum wage should be raised. Minimum
wage can produce an impact on everyday life more than most may think. It is not just about more
money in a person s pocket; it can affect the economy in multiple ways. Many people think it would
be a good idea to raise the average minimum wage, but they do not understand or take the time to
think of the disadvantages. The minimum wage is the least amount a worker can be paid at a job, by
federal law. The present minimum wage is set at seven dollars and 25 cents. The wage can be
determined by votes of the public or the average living cost. Before the Fair Labor Standards Act,
corporations were free to choose any pay rate of their choice. This ... Show more content on

Another disadvantage to a rise in pay includes the possibility that some people may lose their
government benefits due to their new annual income, such as food stamps or health insurance.
The loss of federal and state aids could produce a greater hardship on people and their families than
the preexisting minimum wage. For those who have already earned a higher pay due to noticeably
hard work or time spent working for a company, the raise of minimum wage would cause the
experienced workers to demand more. If the company is already struggling to pay the difference of the
raised minimum wage, there will be no option but to either refuse the request of an experienced
worker or fire employees. Even though workers have dreamed of a pay raise for years, it has been
concluded that the money will not be coming very soon. It is expected to be a few years until an
increased minimum wage could be developed (Mcgeehan). This does not include all of America due to
larger cities usually having higher wages. Some states have more of a demand due to the different
living conditions and different prices of products. Smaller towns have been known to produce smaller
prices for average products due to supply and demand. This means the ratio of pay to living expenses
averages out. The outcomes aren t all bad. There are also some good

The Effect Of Heartburn On Your Stomach
Introduction:
Heartburn is generally caused by imbalanced gastric juices/acids. Antacids are a type of medication,
which corrects the pH balance in your stomach. A pH scale is a scale that ranges from 0 14, with 0
being the most acidic, 7 being neutral, and 14 being most basic. There are many types of antacids,
such as sodium bicarbonate (contains baking soda), calcium carbonate, there is also aluminum and
magnesium based antacids. A combination of aluminum and magnesium based antacids also exist.
These come in liquid and solid tablet forms. The brands, which are going to be tested during this
experiment, will be milk of magnesia by the Life Brand that costs $8.99; Phillips that costs $13.99,
and Bismuth by the Life Brand that costs $5.99.
Purpose:
The testing of three different antacids was done during this experiment to determine, which of the
three antacids is the best to stop heartburn.
Hypothesis:
The Phillips antacid is going to be the best type of antacid from the three because this antacid includes
magnesium and not a lot of other chemicals. This antacid is also the one that costs the most, and if it
cost a lot it should be better.
Variables:
Independent Variables:
Amount of antacid
Concentration of acid
State of antacid
Dependent Variables:
Amount of acid added/dropped to neutralize the antacid
Controlled:
Titration technique
Indicator type
Concentration of acid
State of antacid

  • 2. The Thematic Concept Of Fear In Beowulf And Gilgamesh Overall Introduction: For years, literature has been used to teach us important morals and life lessons. These life lessons are often universal in nature. This means that no matter what age, gender, or status a person is, anyone can relate to the theme being discussed. For this reason they are called universal themes. Non universal themes are themes that are specific to the story being told, but are not considered universally understood. The following demonstrates that Beowulf and Gilgamesh both have the same universal thematic statement concept of fear in addition to a multiple non universal themes throughout them. Thematic Discussion When looking at the universal theme Gilgamesh and Beowulf, the thematic concept is fear. The thematic statement for this universal theme would be: In literature, as well as in real life, man often my come up against someone or something he fears and then must decide whether or not they will act in cowardly or courageous way . The thematic concept for Beowulf that is a non universal theme would be political generosity. The thematic statement would be that: In Beowulf, one can see how generosity and hospitality were considered very important to the Danish culture. However, this not considered a universal theme, because although generosity and hospitality may have been considered very important attributes at the time Beowulf was written, not every culture of the time considered these nicetes to be of the highest importance. • 3. Mary Todd Mary Todd Summary The main idea of the book was love. It was a love that lasted through all the hardships, controversies, and death. Mary Todd, a Kentuckian from a wealthy family with an interest in politics caught the eye of a young lawyer named Abraham Lincoln. Even during the war, where her family was confederates and they were dying, both Abraham and Mary knew that they were doing the right thing in preserving the Union. After Abraham Lincoln died, she blamed herself and became mental unstable and eventually died. Her whole life was full of both love and despair. They first met at a dance in Springfield, Illinois in 1839; Mary Todd was from Kentucky and was older and wiser than most of the other girls at the dance. The older men liked to talk to her and ... She now had a reputation as an insatiable shopper. Their sons, Tad, Edward, Willie, and Robert were both criticized and loved. They were called undisciplined brats, but they were also praised for their intelligence and charm. But Mrs. Lincoln didn t care because love meant everything to her and family always came first. Tad was her most favorite out of the four boys; she said that his death hurt her more than her husband s death. Both Edward and Willie died early and her heart turned cold on Robert because he had her committed for insanity. The day of Abraham s death, she admitted that they were holding hands during the play and after John Wilkes Booth shot him. William H. Herndon, her enemy, tarnished her image beyond repair. He said Mary made Lincolns home hell on earth, harassed and nagged Lincoln day and night, and only marrying him as revenge for him failing to show up on their first date. He also said that Lincoln never loved her. • 4. Wilhelm Reich Essay Wilhelm Reich was born in the Austro Hungarian Empire on March 24th, 1897. His parents were farmers, and at a young age Reich developed a fascination with the life processes of plants and animals. His formal education at this time was provided by a private tutor. When Reich was 14, he discovered his mother was having an affair with his tutor. After Reich reported this to his father, his mother committed suicide. Atwood and Stolorow (1977) have speculated that this tragedy may have contributed to Reich s most significant theories. After the death of his father three years later, Reich took over the family farm until it was destroyed by the Russians in 1915. At that time he joined the Austrian Army. Because sexuality is often shrouded in ignorance and shame, many people are not able to attain this release and, according to Reich, are thereby doomed to ill health and neurotic disturbances. In order to combat societal pressure and educate the youth, Reich began organizing mental hygiene clinics and sex counseling. He also began joining liberal and socialistic groups at this time, convinced that only an overthrow of authoritarian society could ultimately alleviate the neurotic suffering of its constituents. To this end, in 1930 he left his wife and daughters and traveled to Berlin to join the Communist Party. Three years later, Reich would be expelled from the Party because of his views regarding sexuality. With the rise of Hitler, Reich left Germany and traveled to Denmark, and then fled to Sweden to escape the Nazis. Sweden expelled him, and Reich moved on to Norway, where he began his bion experiments. It was during these experiments that he discovered what he would term orgone energy, a form of life energy which the bions emitted. He built and began experimenting with a device intended to attract and concentrate orgone energy, the orgone accumulator, or ORAC. In 1939, Reich accepted an invitation to lecture at the New School for Social Research in New York City, and he moved to the United States. He married again, and in 1944 his son Peter was born. He continued to experiment with the ORAC, and in 1948 he is said to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To reach what he needed to achieve he needed to get rid of his thirst for knowledge. His perspective on how to reach peace changed from how he saw it from the beginning; he believed that salvation was achieved from knowledge and being satisfied of what he had learned. Now, he sees that he was unhappy because he craved more and that took over his other senses. When someone is seeking, said Siddhartha, it happens quite easily that he only sees the thing that he is seeking; that he is unable to find anything, unable to absorb anything, because he is only thinking of the thing he is seeking, because he has a goal, because he is obsessed with his goal. Seeking means: to have a goal; but finding means: to be free, to be receptive, to have no goal. • 10. Feudalism In Siegfried IT S INTERESTING to see how history is distorted in the act of grasping it: how it bends to fit the mind of the person who takes it in. You can investigate a historical epoch and watch as others, arriving at disparate conclusions, paint a portrait with a selection of colors chosen to fulfill their needs. A man is bound to feel that in the careless approach of others, he himself stands accused: is he not guilty of the same crime, of distorting history to his own ends, lacking merely the person with sufficient subtlety to call him to account? Joachim Fest said that the political maturity of the German people came only after the loss of their inner, spiritually romantic interior the relic of feudalism that had not yet given way. Ah, Heroic artwork. One of the main differences between the lingering feudalistic mindset of Germany and the individualist mindset which was rising in the West, was the relationship to authority. In the West, it was gradually being understood that self interest could be reliably deferred to when dealing with one s superiors and even the concept of a superior, of someone placed above oneself in the natural order, was becoming incomprehensible. In other words, what should the graph look like to verify the inverse square law? The graph would require features such as; evidence that the increase in distance away from the source results in the reduction of light exposure as well as, the contrast between the ascending distance and descending LUX, in which forms an X within the graph in order to verify the proportionality expected. By the time he reached the end of the first league the darkness was total, nothing behind or before. He made his way, companionless, to the end (Book 9 p. 51, The Epic of Gilgamesh). In The Epic of Gilgamesh, an epic poem translated by N.K. Sanders, Gilgamesh is a character who is by all accounts an epic hero. As a person of nobility, he becomes tyrannical and overpowering in his strength, until the gods present him with a challenge an equal counterpart to Gilgamesh s fortitude. Gilgamesh battles with this new encountered foe, named Enkidu, yet because of their equivalent vitality, they end up cancelling each other out, and through a twist of events, Gilgamesh befriends Enkidu. This friendship is everlasting, through thick and thin. After Enkidu s death and traveling in search for an answer to life s cruelty and abandonment, Gilgamesh finds a new perspective on life and returns home to his rightful place on the throne. The Epic of Gilgamesh entails the hardships and retribution that the main character, Gilgamesh, ⅔ god and ⅓ human and King of Uruk, endures. Comparatively, Gilgamesh is more of an epic hero than Odysseus from The Odyssey by Homer, whose story also follows the structure of the Epic Hero Cycle. One could not walk down the street without seeing the government s effect on our everyday lives. The questions we may have though are what are the levels of government? What is federalism? How does the government affect individuals every day? Do we need government? Do Americans appreciate the importance of our government? These are all questions that will be answered for we as individuals must understand how this government works before we can make a difference in bettering this country. The spheres (Levels) of government include National, State (Provincial), and Local. It is these three spheres of government that affect our day to day life. He then interpreted a second dream of Nebuchadnezzar, (Dan 4:8 27) about a great tree, which was a sign of the king becoming insane. The fulfillment of this dream is what converted the king to worship God. He was called upon to explain the handwriting on the wall that disturbed the feast of Belshazzar (Dan 5:10 28). This foretold the end of the Babylonian empire and the coming of the Medes. For his service, he was awarded a purple robe and appointed as one of three governors over the kingdom (Dan 6:1 2). While in the service of the new king Darius, he was thrown into the lions den for praying to any god except Darius (Dan 6:10 23). Daniel was delivered from the lions den and Darius made a proclamation for all to magnify Daniel s God. He prospered in the reign of Darius. • 39. Inclusive Education in South Africa The Zulu tribe of South Africa is the largest ethnic group in the country and its language is the most frequently used of all in South Africa. (Hamlett) The tribe was first discovered when Portugal settled the land, and since then the tribe and its relationships with the colonists is anything but peaceful, and to this day there still is tension. Maybe because of this, the education system throughout the 1900 s refused to allow for the teaching of African culture other than stereotypes and other inaccurate information that the colonists approved. The Zulu tribe s lack of education and the use of non native languages in school paired with its relationship toward further discrimination later in life is an indication that not teaching indigenous culture leads to real world discrimination. South Africa was segregated until 1994 and therefore is not the epitome of racial tolerance, but it is the treatment of education of their indigenous tribe the Zulu that shows that education controlled by one culture will lead to further segregation and worse conditions for the races out of the loop. Now, the last four presidents of South Africa were black and the current one is Zulu but even with influence in the highest office the tribe is unable to find work or make a life that is comparable to their white counterparts. The discrimination of education has led to longer consequences than the segregation and disenfranchisement because now there are generations of natives unable to compete ... By the end of the Great War, Soviet Union emerged as a powerful revolutionary state that gradually evolved into an empire over the course of following decades. It served as an ideological model for one third of the world and was considered as a secure and stable society by the rest. During this period the world was divided into two distinct blocs, the proponents of democracy led by United States of America (USA) and the Socialist regimes headed by the Soviet Union. Having almost equal military parity, the hostilities between the two superpower was so great that many feared dooms day scenario in case war broke out. Although, the effort by both sides to undermine and damage the interest of each other was no hidden secret, yet the military parity resulted mostly in a stalemate. This sudden and peaceful conclusion of Cold War and breakdown of Soviet Union therefore came as a surprise to all. The past two decades has witnessed countless argument in the academia regarding the surprisingly abrupt end of Cold War. Scholars of various theoretical perspectives have come up with different evidences explaining the sudden collapse of Soviet Union. • 42. The Minimum Wage There have been multiple debates on whether or not the minimum wage should be raised. Minimum wage can produce an impact on everyday life more than most may think. It is not just about more money in a person s pocket; it can affect the economy in multiple ways. Many people think it would be a good idea to raise the average minimum wage, but they do not understand or take the time to think of the disadvantages. The minimum wage is the least amount a worker can be paid at a job, by federal law. The present minimum wage is set at seven dollars and 25 cents. The wage can be determined by votes of the public or the average living cost. Before the Fair Labor Standards Act, corporations were free to choose any pay rate of their choice. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another disadvantage to a rise in pay includes the possibility that some people may lose their government benefits due to their new annual income, such as food stamps or health insurance. The loss of federal and state aids could produce a greater hardship on people and their families than the preexisting minimum wage. For those who have already earned a higher pay due to noticeably hard work or time spent working for a company, the raise of minimum wage would cause the experienced workers to demand more. If the company is already struggling to pay the difference of the raised minimum wage, there will be no option but to either refuse the request of an experienced worker or fire employees. Even though workers have dreamed of a pay raise for years, it has been concluded that the money will not be coming very soon. It is expected to be a few years until an increased minimum wage could be developed (Mcgeehan). This does not include all of America due to larger cities usually having higher wages. Some states have more of a demand due to the different living conditions and different prices of products. Smaller towns have been known to produce smaller prices for average products due to supply and demand. This means the ratio of pay to living expenses averages out. The outcomes aren t all bad.
