Fire Ground Exercises At The Fire Service Area
I contemplate one of the most important training items in the fire service area that we need to focus on
is authentic fire ground exercises. Fire ground training are drills that reflect real time circumstances on
the emergency scene. Our training needs to focus towards our daily tasks, teamwork and most of all
teamwork on the emergency scene. Furthermore, in the past quite a few of my training drills came from
the International Fire Service Training Association manual or similar resources. While I do believe
these sequenced, systematic drills remain, tremendously valuable in foundation training to establish
baseline competency. Likewise, consider that real life situations do not always follow training manuals.
The purpose of the drills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Fire service, we have available plenty of basic drills we can train on daily to better ourselves. It
seems everyone is trying specialized training, which needed, and forgets to master few of our more
tedious items and commonplace Page 8b functions. A number of of these would incorporate pump
operations, hose line advancement, fire ground operations. Consequently, the drills we do should be
more than by the numbers drills, they should be operations that imitate what we will do at the
emergency scene. They should be our bread and butter drills that we must get correct, every time.
These drills must emulate what we do on the fire ground as a department. The goal should be training
that becomes a common reaction and not a focus on what we remember as a one, two, three process.
Therefore, an example of a drill that I have used at my department for training is a firefighter calling a
Mayday. This is a very commanding evolution in the fire service today, from the low occurrences and
the extremely high risk associated with a mayday. The first part of the drill was a review of our mayday
policy and the classroom simulation of practicing the mayday. The review would contain recognizing
your need of calling a mayday, and then actually calling the mayday. I had fourteen of our personnel
call a mayday while in a controlled

The Lake Tahoe Basin Ecosystem
During the last 140 years the ecosystem of the Lake Tahoe Basin has experienced multiple alterations.
Just as many areas have been depleted or implemented signs of struggle after initial European
settlement the Lake Tahoe basin s ecosystem has been vastly affected by man. The precedent
environment of Lake Tahoe s basin may never be restored to its original condition; however efforts are
being made toward its restoration.
The annual rate of precipitation, and elevational range once generated a strong foundation for a wide
diversity of vegetation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initially established in the lake as a food source for warm water fish the crawfish as well as mysid
shrimp have polluted the naturally clear waters of Tahoe, and restricted the zooplankton community.
The crawfish introduced into the lake may be thriving in the area for numerous reasons, and some
scientists suggest that the current rise in other food sources for the non native fish species has sparked
the incline in their population (www.tahoescience.org).
Crawfish naturally excrete phosphorous as well as nitrogen, and have enabled the lake to have a faster
turnover rate within its waters thanks to their large numbers (University of Davis Centers for Water and
Wildlife Resources, 1996). Warm water fish not native to the Lake Tahoe area have also begun to thrive
within the near shore environments because of the increase in water temperature, and continue to
intrude on native fish. The rise in water temperatures is most likely from an increase in algae
production within the near shore areas caused by the production of nutrients by the Asian clams, which
in turn then feeds the growing crawfish population.
Since the settlement of the Lake Tahoe Basin people have deforested mountain sides, and killed almost
all natural life within the waters. Just as the Lake Tahoe area has felt the

Predictable Crises of Adulthood by Gail Sheehy
The Trying Twenties
In the text, Gail Sheehy describes the difficulties, as well as freedom, which twenty somethings are
presented with when they enter the adult world. The twenties is the period when one is eager to find his
own way of life. Some choose to go to graduate school, some get married early and try out different
jobs to see which suits them best, and some stay single and put their career first. Two impulses are at
work during this period. One is to be set as early as possible; the other is to keep experimenting. A
balance struck between the two determines what one s twenties will be like. People in their twenties
have many illusions which fill them with enthusiasm in every effort they make. Illusions ... Show more

Singlehood can be a life structure of the twenties, too. The daughter of an ego boosting father, taught to
try anything she wished so long as she didn t bail out before reaching the top, decided to become a
traveling publicist. That meant being free to move from city to city as better jobs opened up. The
structure that best served her purpose was to remain unattached. She shared apartments and lived in
women s hotels, having a wonderful time, until at 27 she landed the executive job of her dreams. I had
no feeling of rootlessness because each time I moved, the next job offered a higher status or salary. And
in every city I traveled, I would look up old friends from college and meet them for dinner. That gave
me a stabilizing influence. At 30 Shazam! The same woman was suddenly married and pregnant with
twins. Surrounded by a totally new and unforeseen life structure, she was pleasantly baffled to find
herself content. I guess I was ready for a family without knowing it. The Trying Twenties is one of the
longer and more stable periods, stable, that is, in comparison with the rockier passages that lead to and
exit from it. Although each nail driven into our first external life structure is tentative, a tryout, once we
have made our commitments we are convinced they are the right ones. The momentum of exploring
within the structure generally carries us through the twenties without

Similarities Between Dawalski And Blanche Dubois
Character is how a person acts when no one else is looking. As a person is portrayed and perceived
they are better understood when unveiling the true personality of an individual rather than their false
persona. Both Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski s performance vary and differ depending on the
situation and the person of interaction. Blanches fluctuating performance and actions can be found
countless times in the book A Street Car Named Desire. To analyze this personality aspect, Blanche can
been seen doing this with her sister Stella Dubois. Williams reveals this in the lines Now don t get
worried, your sister hasn t turned into a drunkard, she s just all shaken up and hot and tired and dirty ,
and again in What you are talking about is brutal desire just desire . The primary evidence can reveal
her fraud performance upon encountering her sister once again. Blanche attempts to portray herself as a
traditional, accepted woman. She pretends to be a woman of no fault and who only drinks on rare
occasions. Yet when the story is further read she can be seen drinking day after day. Blanche can
actually be classified as a drunk seeking to escape from reality. Blanche strives to fulfill the
performance of a conventional day to day woman, in front of her sister Stella. The proceeding evidence
is a very hypocritical statement made by Blanche. Blanche refers to just desire as merely a physical,
sexual aspect between Stanley and Stella. Blanche again exerts her best

Eastern Grey Squirrel Research Paper
The Eastern grey squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis) are small mammals that are often seen around parks
and trees in the New York City area. Both males and females look alike in color and size. On many
occasions they involve in behaviors may not be easily understood by the onlookers. They often engage
in behaviors such as deception, a behavior that involve a squirrel to cache its food from conspecifics by
pretending to hide its food in an area but instead carrying the food in its mouth and hiding it elsewhere
(Steele, M. A., Halkin, S. L., Smallwood, P. D., McKenna, T. J., Mitsopoulos, K., Beam, M. 2008) and
also in cache hoarding such a behavior involves the storing of food for later retrieval (Hopewell, L. J.,

Forging behaviors can be described as a behavior where animals have their heads down in search of
food and not too aware of what is happening in their immediate environment, where as a vigilant
behavior is where an animal is on its hind legs with its heads up or sometimes in a frozen position and
cannot forage (H.R. Pulliam, G.H. Pyke, T. Caraco, 1982). Because squirrels are small mammals they
do tend to be more vigilant of their surroundings. Foraging and vigilant behaviors are important
because of the fact that these animals are smaller and are likely to be attacked by predators. When they
are in a foraging behavior it can be difficult to be aware of other mammals that are lurking around, thus
they also involve themselves in vigilant behaviors to determine if there is a threat or not. Smaller
mammals tend to display higher vigilance than those of larger sizes due to their increased risk of
predation (StevenL.Lima, Thomas J. Valone, Thomas Caraco,

Destruction of the American Dream in Death of a Salesman...
We may have different backgrounds, but we believe in the same dream that says this is a country where
anything s possible. No matter who you are. No matter where you come from. President Obama,
Commenting on the American Dream
The American Dream is a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and
success. It is the belief that, no matter how poor you begin life, you can achieve upward social mobility
for your family and children. Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman, crushes the ethos of the American
Dream. Miller s ability to portray this delusional idea through the life and relationships of Willy
Loman, a typical, low income American, is exquisite. America, in 1949, was experiencing an ... Show

I m the New England man. I m vital in New England , and Never leave a job until your sixty, and
perfect quotes form Willy that show his insecurities, and that he is not the successful businessman he
claims he is. Miller uses Willy to show that although the American dream is still alive, there are those
who just do not make it. Willy will not face the truth though. Willy is a failure in life, but he feels even
more so because of the fact that success in the American Dream is supposed to be available to anyone.
This figure has significantly affected his family, especially his sons. He consistently blames the world
throughout the play, such as blaming the teacher for flunking Biff, and causing his failure at getting a
good paying job. He also goes on to blame Chevrolet for the carburetor tearing up, Bernard for not
letting Biff cheat, and eventually realizes it was his entire fault all along. Once he realizes this, instead
of facing the truth about his failure, he commits suicide.
Many would say that this heart breaking story of Willy s life epitomizes moral law . Moral law is the
indestructible will of man to achieve his humanity (Tragedy and the Common Man). Basically, it s man
drive to save his pride, or gain sort of power. There is no better example of a man struggling with moral
law than Willy Loman. He not only struggles with the other characters, but with himself. His inner
conflict is exaggerated in his multiple flashbacks.

The structure of the remaining chapter is as follows. The next section provides a description of
crowdfunding and discusses existing research on the topic. The follow up section puts crowdfunding
into perspective of entrepreneurial finance and thereby describes factors affecting entrepreneurial
preferences for crowdfunding as source of finance. Thereafter, we elaborate different business models
used to raise money from the crowd, in particular with respect to the structure of the crowdfunding
process. Building on this discussion, we present and discuss extensively a case study, namely Media
No Mad (a French startup). Finally we conclude with recommendations for entrepreneurs seeking to
make use of crowdfunding and with suggestions for researchers about yet unexplored avenues of
research. CROWDFUNDING: TAPPING THE CROWD FOR MONEY In this section, we provide a
theoretical discussion of the concept of crowdfunding. First, we present a definition of crowdfunding.
We then describe the market. Existing literature on the topic is described in the last part of this section,
and enables to present motivations of entrepreneurs to use 3 crowdfunding as well as motivations of
crowdfunders (i.e., those who provide funding) to participate in ventures as investor. Definition of
crowdfunding In simple terms, crowdfunding is the financing of a project or a venture by a group of

China And Its Regulation System
Despite what many people think, China and its regulation system (limited market access) had made it
difficult for foreign banks to provide their services. For instance, foreign banks were licensed to
provide corporate banking service only to foreign invested enterprises. Few licensed braches were
allowed to operate as foreign banks. Indeed, foreign banks need licenses from central bank. However,
the bank´s senior knew this would be a slow process since the China state banks were usually run by
bureaucrats and unable to set their own deposits and interest rate level.
Citibank and its competitive advantages rely on its unique strategy to exclude any type of joint venture.

Analysis Of The Book For The Sake Of Posterity
Einhard, a German raised in the Carolingian court of Charlemagne wrote a vita as a tribute to his king
around 825 826 called The Life of Charlemagne after the kings death. He wrote this book either at
Charlemagne s son King Louis court or at one of his numerous properties throughout the Frankish
kingdom. Based on the didactic nature of the document and Einhard s own saying that the book is for
the sake of posterity it is likely that his writing was either meant as a historical book concerning the life
of King Charlemagne to be used by further generations or, more likely based on the type of information
provided, meant to be a guide for future kings such as Louis on how to be a good and proper king of as
high a quality as the highly praised Charlemagne. Einhard was the foster son of Louis father,
Charlemagne, and it appears that Einhard was trying to use their mutual father figure to set an example
for Louis because Louis kingdom was unstable. However, courtiers of the time knew that they could
not outright insult King Louis actions, therefore Einhard needed a way to communicate his constructive
criticisms to the king without being forthright about his contempt for Louis and his behaviour. The
careful courtier Einhard, while writing The Life of Charlemagne tried to make Charlemagne appear to
be a strong leader as well as a friendly person in general but, flattery aside, his writing suggests that
Charlemagne was in fact controlling, relentless, ferocious, and aggressive.

Gender Is Not As Cut And Dry As You Might Think
Sir! Sir! Do you realize this is the ladies room? The concept of gender is not as cut and dry as you
might think. The term gender is often used incorrectly as a synonym for our biological sex. Gender is
more of a predetermined set of ideas and characteristics used in identifying socially acceptable
behaviors and appearances for the sexes. It is not determined by the biological sex of the person. From
an early age we begin to develop ideas of what it means to be male or female by observing others.
Gender falls on a spectrum from masculine to feminine with many combinations in between. Gender
expression and gender identity are also not the same thing. Gender expression is not related directly to
how a person perceives their gender, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People with gender Identity crises do not feel their genitalia reflects who they are inside. They may feel
a powerful drive to have their genitalia match their self image opting for sex reassignment surgery.
Gender expression is far more relaxed than it has been throughout our history in America, but it still
poses a problems for some on a daily basis. Gender expression is one area where women have a social
advantage over men. It is far more socially acceptable for a woman to dress masculine than for a man
to dress feminine; although neither are without predigests. Using a public restrooms seems like a
simple task to the majority of us. This is not the case for people who fall outside the gender norm.
Seldom does one have a choice beyond boy s room or girl s room. This can be a very stressful
environment if your outward appearance doesn t match your biological sex. Spotlighting those who are
not perceived by society as gender normal could lead to depression, anxiety and self loathing.
Something as simple as going to the restroom in the mall could lead to a violent encounter. This would
be greatly reduced of people would just be more observant. This all because society developed rules
everyone must follow in order to be perceived as normal. Today s young people tend to be more aware
of the gender spectrum. Terms like gender identity and gender expression are better understood. Words

a breach of duty by the solicitors of the testator, Mrs Brasier, and to the executor of the estate, Mr
Hawkins. The solicitors were in custody of Mrs Brasier s will and seemingly were not aware of the
testators death for some time as they had written letters to her regarding her will in September 1978
and August 1979 with no response. After the commencement of the action taken up by Mr Hawkins, he

by devolution. Mr Hawkins and his family had lived with Mrs Brasier as a tenant in her home at
Blakehurst, sometime during August 1973 Mr Hawkins and Mrs Brasier had had a disagreement and
the Hawkins family had left the Blakehurst house. It was determined that Mrs Brasier had spoken with
Mr Hawkins about his appointment as executor but had not confirmed it once the will was written.

In the course of developing an Army leadership competency framework focused on the Future Force
(up to year 2025), the authors examined several existing U.S. military and civilian leadership

Employees want information about what they are required to do (or confirmation of what they think
they are supposed to do) in their jobs or positions. The operative word here is do . They typically do not
want to know what they are supposed to be . This simple representation of leadership requirements
helps us establish a context for evaluating leadership competencies and frameworks/models. Those that
are stated only as traits, characteristics, or in attribute terms are, in our estimation, less valuable than
those that are stated in task, function, and behavioral terms. However, models that address both aspects
of leadership may prove to be more valuable to more individuals.
The purpose in establishing competencies for leaders should be to better define what functions
leaders must perform to make themselves and others in their organizations effective. Many competency
definitions include reference to clusters of knowledges, skills, abilities, and traits that lead to successful
performance (Newsome, Catano, Day, 2003). Yet competency labels are typically expressed in either
process or functional terms. This can lead to confusion as to what competencies actually represent for
leadership and organizations. Competency frameworks or models should serve as the roadmap to
individual and organizational leader success. The value of competencies

Today, HVDC s main applications are for efficient bulk power transfer, point to point, over longer

Bruno Bettelheim s `` Punishment Versus Discipline ``
Bruno Bettelheim is one of the most influential child psychologists who lived in the 20th century.
Bettelheim s writings and theories cement his reputation as one of the most influential psychologists by
teaching parents the proper way of raising their child. His ideas and writings also establish his prestige
by revolutionizing the way in which psychologists treat children with mental health issues. He changes
the way in which mentally ill children are treated by promoting milieu therapy as an alternative method
of healing these children. His ideas are relevant today because they assist school and educational
institution in dealing with the problem of bullying. His works allow psychologists and educators to
understand the bully s actions and the victim s responses, thus assisting them in solving the problem of
bullying. This essay summarizes and provides a deep analysis of Bettelheim s works and ideas with the
aim to explore how his ideas help schools to deal with the problem of bullying. Bettelheim s article
Punishment Versus Discipline analyzes the toll that punishment has on children. Bettelheim explains to
the parents that through violence they inspire their children to use their power to intimidate others by
imitating the behaviors that were inflicted on them previously. He also tells the parents that using
physical punishment does not deter their children from committing the action and that it can encourage
them to become devious or untrustworthy (NP). This

Feminist Sexological Analysis
The field of sexology is extremely valuable and yet often overlooked and taken for granted. Further, the
field of feminist sexology goes unnoticed or is just flat out excluded even more often. This is certainly
no indicator of its importance to society, though. Feminist sexology is vital to countering the

positive project for this class because it allows a concentrated mix of ideas and opinions while working

have another topic of feminist sexology included in the poster which was our third group member s part
demedicalization of women s sexuality and sexual problems. That fact also made me feel our poster
lacked overall flow and, in some ways, information since having only one issue of feminist sexology
seemed like not enough. However, given our circumstances, I am pleased with what we were able to
pull off and make work for our poster and I feel that we fell along the line with many of the other

System Security Controversy
The controversy between the FBI and Apple going into dark debate began when one of the suspect s
phone was found from San Bernardino attack, and the FBI was not able to gain access into the device.
The FBI asked Apple to decrypt only that one device to continue their investigation in depth. They
asked apple to redesign a new software that will give access to law enforcements to the entire
encrypted data and as well as tracking any online communications in agreement to the legal authorities.
However, the Apple CEO Tim Cook doesn t agree to recreate whole new software because it could be
very risky in terms on how their iOS is building and designed. However, If Apple does agree to the law
enforcement decision then there could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Advertisement Of Carl Jr.
Advertisements are everywhere these days and can be extremely annoying. They will try and get
people to buy anything from food to cars and everything else in between. Advertisements have also
started to rely heavily on the sexual elements to sell its products. An example of this advertisement
would be the ad for Carl s Jr. or Hardee s. In this ad, it features Paris Hilton standing in a very
seductive way holding a cheeseburger. She takes up half of the ad while the other half is of the actual
product with some text. Carl s Jr. started these racy ads back in 2005 and are known to feature models
in bikinis in their advertisements to try and attract younger men. This advertisement heavily relies on
sexual appeal to sell its products by using a very sexy and provocative Paris Hilton and using double
entendre in its text.
The intended audience for this Carl s Jr. Ad is men and only men. This advertisement uses a lot of
sexual elements to get men to go to any local Carl s Jr. and buy themselves a burger. A way that this ad
captures the audience is by using pathos. The main part of the pathos appeal is with the sex appeal of
Paris Hilton in the photo. They are trying to connect to the emotional side of men. By using Paris
Hilton as one of the main focuses, the advertisement can lead men to think that by eating at Carl s Jr.
they can get themselves a woman like Paris Hilton, but if you have ever gone to a Carl s Jr. before, that
is clearly not the case. Another way they are trying

An Essay About A Mate
Mate. My mother used to tell me the definition of mate was your destined love true love to say the
least. A person that will stick with you through the thick and thin, no matter the destination. A mate is
supposed to protect you from the harmful ways of the world. A mate was supposed to fight with you
side by side. A mate is supposed to love you no matter the cost. I never really thought about mates or
well superficially my mate. I thought I was always going to be alone, fighting my own battles and
defeating my own wars with no else s help but only my own. But I guess life has its mysterious ways of
confusing the living life out of me and possibly my mate to. The hand on my shoulder sent bolts of
electricity to run out through my body starting from the tip of my toes to all the way to the tip of my
fingers. My body fell on infinite bliss. Even though this touch erupted fireworks in my stomach this
touch also calmed me, comforted me in many ways than one Physically, Mentally and Emotionally. I
felt safe and free but that didn t last long. The hand on my shoulder slipped off slowly and gently but
that action only ripped away all the bliss and comfort from it, bringing back the cold to my body. I
turned around slowly facing the owner of the hand that was touching me only moments go but it felt
like his last touch was months ago, what was this person touch doing to me? The owner of the hand had
its mouth slightly open from shock, his eyes were flooded with emotion, confusion

Gaining High School Driver s License
The state legislature should not pass a bill that would require a person to earn a high school diploma
before he or she could receive a driver s license due to the fact that it is an inconvenience. Parents
would have to drive kids more places and the kids would take longer to grow up.
In high school, kids have a few options of getting to school: having their parents drive them, taking the
bus, or driving themselves. The most easy option is for them to drive themselves to school. Being a
licensed driver is a huge responsibility and is needed to teach young students how to handle
responsibility.
Along with making it easy to get to school, high schoolers that have their license are more responsible
and mature. Not every kid, but some, have to pay for their own gas. It also makes kids more
responsible because they will now have curfews and things that they need to meet on their own. No
more having mom and dad picking them up. If they leave and they re parents say they need to be back
by twelve, they are the ones responsible for getting themselves home at that time. Having a license
makes teens more mature too because they can start doing things for themselves like getting food or
going to a doctor s appointment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hiv Epidemiology
HIV Epidemiology
HIV Epidemiology
For the epidemiology paper I chose to write about HIV. HIV is growing concern in the community and
too many people are uneducated about the seriousness of this disease. HIV is terminal illness; it will
eventually consume your life at some point. There are treatment options out there but being compliant
with the medication regimen is crucial to the maintenance and management of this disease.
HIV also known as the Human Immunodeficiency Virus; with HIV the virus replicates and attacks our
immune system causing it to go haywire. With the suppression of our immune systems it puts people
with HIV at a bigger risk for infection and other common illnesses. People with HIV the common cold

When we are caring for HIV patients in the community we as the nurse need to be able to identify the
mode of transmission of the disease. The agent would be what causes the infection of HIV. HIV is a
virus so therefore the virus itself would be the agent. A virus may have a spiny outside layer, called the
envelope. Viruses have a core of genetic material, but no way to reproduce it on their own. Viruses
infect cells and take over their reproductive machinery to reproduce (Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention [CDC], 2012). The host would be the person who became infected with the disease. These
patients have come into contact with someone who was infected with disease already. This could have
been due to cross contamination of blood, sharing needles during drug use, vaginally delivery of a
baby, or it could have even been through a blood transfusion; which is very, very rare. Environmental
factors would include the surroundings or conditions outside of the host that cause or allow the disease
to be spread. This would be any household that participates in the use of illicit drugs such as heroin.
Anyone who is in this type of environment is at risk due to old needles laying around, actually
partaking in the use of the drugs, or sharing needles with other people. Also an environment that would
put someone at risk would be a hospital setting. It is very possible for nurses especially to accidentally
stick themselves

Glenelg Coastal Management Report
This report will discuss the beach of Glenelg on the coast of South Australia. Aspects that will be
elaborated on are the history of Glenelg, the location, natural processes that affect Glenelg, human
impact at Glenelg, stakeholders in Glenelg, summary of management strategies that have been
employed in the past and an evaluation of strategies that could be considered for the future
management for Glenelg.
In 1836 between July and December eight ships came across to Kangaroo Island and aboard two of
those boats were Col William Light aboard the HMS Rapid and George Strickland Kingston aboard the

Reflection About God
God, as we all know, can be the most loving being since he is love. All throughout the old testament we
see different places where God has shown his love and compassion towards people. One example of
this is when God makes Adam and Eve. God gives them dominion over the earth and everything on it.
God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them, saying: Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over
the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that move on the earth. 29 God also said:
See, I give you every seed bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed bearing fruit on
it to be your food; 30 and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air, and all the living
creatures that crawl on the ground, I give all the green plants for food. And so it happened. 31 God
looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good. Evening came, and morning followed the
sixth day.
As you can see God is willing enough to give an entire planet to two humans who he has created. That
is a lot of love and trust to give someone. God is also willing to give Adam and Eve everything to their
hands. He loves them so much that he does not want them to suffer and work for everything they will
need. This is one example is God s love towards people. Another example of God s love is when God
allows Abraham and Sarah, who can not have children

Benefits Of Safe Injections Sites
Many people view safe Injections sites as something extremely controversial. Some people are
completely for the idea of them as well as implementing in their neighborhoods, while others are
extremely against the idea and will do anything they can to ensure that they never make their way into
their neighborhood. That being said, because of the Supreme Court of Canada s decision in the Canada
(AG) v PHS Community Services Society, many more of them will be opening up across Canada. The
Court s decision in the case will have an extremely positive impact on Canada, as proven through
empirical evidence, on vulnerable drug users and addicts, the health and safety of Canada, as well as

Insite argued that their section 7 right of The Charter of Rights and Freedoms had been violated (

Miami Whitewater Forest Case Study
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to collect data that can be used to assess the current status of a lake in
terms of stratification, productivity, succession, nutrient composition, transparency, and management.
The field site was 85 acre, man made lake within Miami Whitewater Forest in Great Parks of Hamilton
County, Cincinnati, OH. Although the lake is man made, it shares many characteristics with that of
natural lakes. The data collected regarding the current status of the lake would then be compared
against past, historical data to draw on any similarities or differences between the lake then and now.
Results demonstrated the lake to be stratified in the past and present according to temperature and pH.

Water was collected using a Wan Dorn Bottle (Lab Manual). There were approximately 20 students that
collected samples from the deepest part of the lake, and 20 students that collected samples from the
shallowest part of the lake. The shallower portion of the lake was closest to a golf course and floating
vegetation (Lab Manual). Five water collections were made at each location. From the deep part of the
lake, each of the five samples was taken at 1m; from the shallower part of the lake, each of the five
samples was taken at a 0.5m depth (Lab Manual). These water samples were collected into 5 separate
bottles, each labeled one through five. Bottle one had water nearest the surface, whereas bottle five had
water collected deeper in the lake. Bottles two through four were intermediate levels of one and five.
We used the water in the bottles labeled 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, to detect the temperature and test the pH of
the water samples from the various depths of both locations. Water from the labeled bottles 1, 3, and 5
were put into bottles labeled N1, N3, and N5, and were brought back to the lab to analyze their nutrient

Edith Grotberg Theory Of Resilience
The American Psychological Association (APA) defines resilience as the ability to adapt well to
adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or even significant sources of stress (APA 2011). According to Edith
Grotberg, a developmental psychologist, Resilience is important because it is the human capacity to
face, overcome and be strengthened by or even transformed by the adversities of life (1995). Resilience
is the ability to remain positive in the face of adversity, which is not the same as not having distress or
denying it (Music, 2011). Developing this capacity relies on protective factors within individuals as
well as in the family and community. Research has emphasized the importance of early childhood as a

Q Waves Research Paper
Q waves are a sign of previous myocardial infarction. The Q wave is defined as the first downward
deflection after the P wave. It may be present and it can be absent in a normal ECG. The Q wave
represents the depolarization of the interventricular septum. Never to be considered abnormal if it is
missing from any particular lead. The QRS complex is a name for the combination of three of the
graphical deflections seen on a typical electrocardiogram. The Q wave is usually the central and most
visually obvious part of the tracing. The Q wave corresponds to the depolarization of the right and left
ventricles of the human heart. For adults it will normally last 0.06 0.10 s; in children and physical
activity, it may be shorter. The R wave follows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pathologic Q waves occur when the electrical signal passes through stunned or scarred heart muscle; as
such, they are usually markers of previous myocardial infarctions, with subsequent fibrosis. A
pathologic Q wave is said to have a defection amplitude of 25% or more of the subsequent R wave, or
being 0.04 s (40ms) in width and 2mm in amplitude. Diagnosis requires the presence of this pattern in
more than one corresponding lead. The point where the QRS complex meets the ST segment is the J
point. The J point is easy to identify when the ST segment is horizontal and forms a sharp angle with
the last part of the QRS complex. When the ST segment is sloped or the QRS complex is wide, the two
features do not form a sharp angle and the location of the J point is less clear. In conclusion, the Q

County Sheriff Research Paper
The most important local county office to me is the Sheriff. When most people think of our county
Sheriff they think of their job as writing tickets and arresting criminals; although these things are part
of their job these things are just a piece of the responsibility that Sheriffs all over the country carry.
When most people hear the word Sheriff they think something negatively. These people don t realize
everything a Sheriff does to keep us and our county safe. The Sheriff is the highest Law Enforcement
Officer in the county with authority over deputies, bailiffs, and constables. Sheriffs are elected by the
citizens of the county and are paid by the county. Sheriffs have a very important job and they also take

investigating complaints, and performing civil duties. They also, however, handle more serious matters
such as executing warrants, emergency response, and criminal investigations. They do all of these

The struggle for marriage equality in the United States began in the 1970 s. It became more prominent
in 1993 when the Hawaiian Supreme court declared that state s prohibition against marriage between
people of the same sex to be unconstitutional (Weiss, 2013). In response to this, there was significant
public outcry and opponents of marriage equality asserted that marriage could only be defined as a
union between a man and a woman. This resulted in prohibitive legislation that was enacted in 1996
known as the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) DOMA prevented the federal government from
recognizing same sex marriages (Baker, 2013). DOMA also allowed each state to refuse recognition of
same sex marriages performed in other states. Be that as it may, in the 21st century, public and
legislative support for marriage equality has grown and various national polls conducted since 2011
show that a majority of Americans support marriage equality (Live Science Staff, 2011; Newport,
2011). On May 9, 2012, Barack Obama became the first sitting U.S. president to publicly declare
support for the legalization of same sex marriage. The provision of DOMA, forbidding the federal
government from recognizing same sex marriages was struck down by the Supreme Court on June 26th
of 2013. In the ensuing two years, 36 states, the District of Columbia, 24 Native American Tribal
jurisdictions and Guam had legalized same sex marriage. However up

I Visited The David Owsley Art Museum
Have you ever had a painting that really spoke to you? When I visited the David Owsley Art Museum
there was one painting in particular that stuck out to me, it was: Right Bird Left by Lee Krasner. This
painting made me feel happy and gave me a lot of energy during the time I was at the museum. The
reason I was happy and energized was because the painting conveyed extremely bright colors. I am a
fan of these colors, which gave me a sense of joy and the energy. It caught the attention of my eye by
using several different visual elements to depict an abstract representation art piece. Along with that, it
used the principles of design to help the visual elements play out and work in the painting, allowing
those elements to be depicted to my human eye correctly. This piece resembled bird feathers, but the
artist used many different techniques to provide a bigger underlying meaning that was hiding behind
such a complex painting. This piece was one of the first to the start off my learning abilities of how to
understand and appreciate artwork for what it is truly worth.
The painting called Right Bird Left, made me feel extremely happy. The bright colors are what drew
me over to start looking at the painting. I never would have approached this picture if it were not for its
size and the effective use of bright colors. I loved standing in front of it, looking at the image, and
admiring all of the brush strokes and textures displaced in the different areas of the painting. I admire

  • 2. Fire Ground Exercises At The Fire Service Area I contemplate one of the most important training items in the fire service area that we need to focus on is authentic fire ground exercises. Fire ground training are drills that reflect real time circumstances on the emergency scene. Our training needs to focus towards our daily tasks, teamwork and most of all teamwork on the emergency scene. Furthermore, in the past quite a few of my training drills came from the International Fire Service Training Association manual or similar resources. While I do believe these sequenced, systematic drills remain, tremendously valuable in foundation training to establish baseline competency. Likewise, consider that real life situations do not always follow training manuals. The purpose of the drills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Fire service, we have available plenty of basic drills we can train on daily to better ourselves. It seems everyone is trying specialized training, which needed, and forgets to master few of our more tedious items and commonplace Page 8b functions. A number of of these would incorporate pump operations, hose line advancement, fire ground operations. Consequently, the drills we do should be more than by the numbers drills, they should be operations that imitate what we will do at the emergency scene. They should be our bread and butter drills that we must get correct, every time. These drills must emulate what we do on the fire ground as a department. The goal should be training that becomes a common reaction and not a focus on what we remember as a one, two, three process. Therefore, an example of a drill that I have used at my department for training is a firefighter calling a Mayday. This is a very commanding evolution in the fire service today, from the low occurrences and the extremely high risk associated with a mayday. The first part of the drill was a review of our mayday policy and the classroom simulation of practicing the mayday. The review would contain recognizing your need of calling a mayday, and then actually calling the mayday. I had fourteen of our personnel call a mayday while in a controlled ... Lake Tahoe Ecosystem The Lake Tahoe Basin Ecosystem Alexis Goski SCI/256 Sep 10, 2012 Shameema Sarker The Lake Tahoe Basin Ecosystem During the last 140 years the ecosystem of the Lake Tahoe Basin has experienced multiple alterations. Just as many areas have been depleted or implemented signs of struggle after initial European settlement the Lake Tahoe basin s ecosystem has been vastly affected by man. The precedent environment of Lake Tahoe s basin may never be restored to its original condition; however efforts are being made toward its restoration. The annual rate of precipitation, and elevational range once generated a strong foundation for a wide diversity of vegetation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially established in the lake as a food source for warm water fish the crawfish as well as mysid shrimp have polluted the naturally clear waters of Tahoe, and restricted the zooplankton community. The crawfish introduced into the lake may be thriving in the area for numerous reasons, and some scientists suggest that the current rise in other food sources for the non native fish species has sparked the incline in their population (www.tahoescience.org). Crawfish naturally excrete phosphorous as well as nitrogen, and have enabled the lake to have a faster turnover rate within its waters thanks to their large numbers (University of Davis Centers for Water and Wildlife Resources, 1996). Warm water fish not native to the Lake Tahoe area have also begun to thrive within the near shore environments because of the increase in water temperature, and continue to intrude on native fish. The rise in water temperatures is most likely from an increase in algae production within the near shore areas caused by the production of nutrients by the Asian clams, which in turn then feeds the growing crawfish population. Since the settlement of the Lake Tahoe Basin people have deforested mountain sides, and killed almost all natural life within the waters. Just as the Lake Tahoe area has felt the ... • 4. Predictable Crises of Adulthood by Gail Sheehy The Trying Twenties In the text, Gail Sheehy describes the difficulties, as well as freedom, which twenty somethings are presented with when they enter the adult world. The twenties is the period when one is eager to find his own way of life. Some choose to go to graduate school, some get married early and try out different jobs to see which suits them best, and some stay single and put their career first. Two impulses are at work during this period. One is to be set as early as possible; the other is to keep experimenting. A balance struck between the two determines what one s twenties will be like. People in their twenties have many illusions which fill them with enthusiasm in every effort they make. Illusions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Singlehood can be a life structure of the twenties, too. The daughter of an ego boosting father, taught to try anything she wished so long as she didn t bail out before reaching the top, decided to become a traveling publicist. That meant being free to move from city to city as better jobs opened up. The structure that best served her purpose was to remain unattached. She shared apartments and lived in women s hotels, having a wonderful time, until at 27 she landed the executive job of her dreams. I had no feeling of rootlessness because each time I moved, the next job offered a higher status or salary. And in every city I traveled, I would look up old friends from college and meet them for dinner. That gave me a stabilizing influence. At 30 Shazam! The same woman was suddenly married and pregnant with twins. Surrounded by a totally new and unforeseen life structure, she was pleasantly baffled to find herself content. I guess I was ready for a family without knowing it. The Trying Twenties is one of the longer and more stable periods, stable, that is, in comparison with the rockier passages that lead to and exit from it. Although each nail driven into our first external life structure is tentative, a tryout, once we have made our commitments we are convinced they are the right ones. The momentum of exploring within the structure generally carries us through the twenties without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Similarities Between Dawalski And Blanche Dubois Character is how a person acts when no one else is looking. As a person is portrayed and perceived they are better understood when unveiling the true personality of an individual rather than their false persona. Both Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski s performance vary and differ depending on the situation and the person of interaction. Blanches fluctuating performance and actions can be found countless times in the book A Street Car Named Desire. To analyze this personality aspect, Blanche can been seen doing this with her sister Stella Dubois. Williams reveals this in the lines Now don t get worried, your sister hasn t turned into a drunkard, she s just all shaken up and hot and tired and dirty , and again in What you are talking about is brutal desire just desire . The primary evidence can reveal her fraud performance upon encountering her sister once again. Blanche attempts to portray herself as a traditional, accepted woman. She pretends to be a woman of no fault and who only drinks on rare occasions. Yet when the story is further read she can be seen drinking day after day. Blanche can actually be classified as a drunk seeking to escape from reality. Blanche strives to fulfill the performance of a conventional day to day woman, in front of her sister Stella. The proceeding evidence is a very hypocritical statement made by Blanche. Blanche refers to just desire as merely a physical, sexual aspect between Stanley and Stella. Both males and females look alike in color and size. On many occasions they involve in behaviors may not be easily understood by the onlookers. They often engage in behaviors such as deception, a behavior that involve a squirrel to cache its food from conspecifics by pretending to hide its food in an area but instead carrying the food in its mouth and hiding it elsewhere (Steele, M. A., Halkin, S. L., Smallwood, P. D., McKenna, T. J., Mitsopoulos, K., Beam, M. 2008) and also in cache hoarding such a behavior involves the storing of food for later retrieval (Hopewell, L. Forging behaviors can be described as a behavior where animals have their heads down in search of food and not too aware of what is happening in their immediate environment, where as a vigilant behavior is where an animal is on its hind legs with its heads up or sometimes in a frozen position and cannot forage (H.R. Pulliam, G.H. Pyke, T. Caraco, 1982). Because squirrels are small mammals they do tend to be more vigilant of their surroundings. Foraging and vigilant behaviors are important because of the fact that these animals are smaller and are likely to be attacked by predators. When they are in a foraging behavior it can be difficult to be aware of other mammals that are lurking around, thus they also involve themselves in vigilant behaviors to determine if there is a threat or not. Smaller mammals tend to display higher vigilance than those of larger sizes due to their increased risk of predation (StevenL.Lima, Thomas J. Valone, Thomas Caraco, ... President Obama, Commenting on the American Dream The American Dream is a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success. It is the belief that, no matter how poor you begin life, you can achieve upward social mobility for your family and children. Willy is a failure in life, but he feels even more so because of the fact that success in the American Dream is supposed to be available to anyone. This figure has significantly affected his family, especially his sons. He consistently blames the world throughout the play, such as blaming the teacher for flunking Biff, and causing his failure at getting a good paying job. He also goes on to blame Chevrolet for the carburetor tearing up, Bernard for not letting Biff cheat, and eventually realizes it was his entire fault all along. Once he realizes this, instead of facing the truth about his failure, he commits suicide. Many would say that this heart breaking story of Willy s life epitomizes moral law . Moral law is the indestructible will of man to achieve his humanity (Tragedy and the Common Man). Basically, it s man drive to save his pride, or gain sort of power. There is no better example of a man struggling with moral law than Willy Loman. He not only struggles with the other characters, but with himself. • 11. Analysis Of The Book For The Sake Of Posterity Einhard, a German raised in the Carolingian court of Charlemagne wrote a vita as a tribute to his king around 825 826 called The Life of Charlemagne after the kings death. He wrote this book either at Charlemagne s son King Louis court or at one of his numerous properties throughout the Frankish kingdom. Based on the didactic nature of the document and Einhard s own saying that the book is for the sake of posterity it is likely that his writing was either meant as a historical book concerning the life of King Charlemagne to be used by further generations or, more likely based on the type of information provided, meant to be a guide for future kings such as Louis on how to be a good and proper king of as high a quality as the highly praised Charlemagne. Einhard was the foster son of Louis father, Charlemagne, and it appears that Einhard was trying to use their mutual father figure to set an example for Louis because Louis kingdom was unstable. However, courtiers of the time knew that they could not outright insult King Louis actions, therefore Einhard needed a way to communicate his constructive criticisms to the king without being forthright about his contempt for Louis and his behaviour. The careful courtier Einhard, while writing The Life of Charlemagne tried to make Charlemagne appear to be a strong leader as well as a friendly person in general but, flattery aside, his writing suggests that Charlemagne was in fact controlling, relentless, ferocious, and aggressive. ... The term gender is often used incorrectly as a synonym for our biological sex. Gender is more of a predetermined set of ideas and characteristics used in identifying socially acceptable behaviors and appearances for the sexes. It is not determined by the biological sex of the person. From an early age we begin to develop ideas of what it means to be male or female by observing others. They may feel a powerful drive to have their genitalia match their self image opting for sex reassignment surgery. Gender expression is far more relaxed than it has been throughout our history in America, but it still poses a problems for some on a daily basis. Gender expression is one area where women have a social advantage over men. It is far more socially acceptable for a woman to dress masculine than for a man to dress feminine; although neither are without predigests. Using a public restrooms seems like a simple task to the majority of us. This is not the case for people who fall outside the gender norm. Seldom does one have a choice beyond boy s room or girl s room. This can be a very stressful environment if your outward appearance doesn t match your biological sex. Spotlighting those who are not perceived by society as gender normal could lead to depression, anxiety and self loathing. Something as simple as going to the restroom in the mall could lead to a violent encounter. This would be greatly reduced of people would just be more observant. Employees want information about what they are required to do (or confirmation of what they think they are supposed to do) in their jobs or positions. The operative word here is do . They typically do not want to know what they are supposed to be . This simple representation of leadership requirements helps us establish a context for evaluating leadership competencies and frameworks/models. Those that are stated only as traits, characteristics, or in attribute terms are, in our estimation, less valuable than those that are stated in task, function, and behavioral terms. However, models that address both aspects of leadership may prove to be more valuable to more individuals. The purpose in establishing competencies for leaders should be to better define what functions leaders must perform to make themselves and others in their organizations effective. Many competency definitions include reference to clusters of knowledges, skills, abilities, and traits that lead to successful performance (Newsome, Catano, Day, 2003). Yet competency labels are typically expressed in either process or functional terms. This can lead to confusion as to what competencies actually represent for leadership and organizations. Competency frameworks or models should serve as the roadmap to individual and organizational leader success. The value of competencies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

HVDC can be a more economic way to move electricity over longer distances; a HVDC system can carry greater power per conductor than an equivalent AC system, resulting in greater capacity per transmission line. Today, HVDC s main applications are for efficient bulk power transfer, point to point, over longer distances, using overhead lines A future generation of conservation and heritage engineers will have the task of ensuring preservation of HVDC equipment from the Thyristor Era and the related IGBT schemes. Much of this equipment is much larger, currently in service in HVDC schemes of a magnitude which would have been unimaginable to the early engineers working in the field. Bettelheim s writings and theories cement his reputation as one of the most influential psychologists by teaching parents the proper way of raising their child. His ideas and writings also establish his prestige by revolutionizing the way in which psychologists treat children with mental health issues. He changes the way in which mentally ill children are treated by promoting milieu therapy as an alternative method of healing these children. His ideas are relevant today because they assist school and educational institution in dealing with the problem of bullying. His works allow psychologists and educators to understand the bully s actions and the victim s responses, thus assisting them in solving the problem of bullying. This essay summarizes and provides a deep analysis of Bettelheim s works and ideas with the aim to explore how his ideas help schools to deal with the problem of bullying. Bettelheim s article Punishment Versus Discipline analyzes the toll that punishment has on children. Bettelheim explains to the parents that through violence they inspire their children to use their power to intimidate others by imitating the behaviors that were inflicted on them previously. He also tells the parents that using physical punishment does not deter their children from committing the action and that it can encourage them to become devious or untrustworthy (NP). This ... Further, the field of feminist sexology goes unnoticed or is just flat out excluded even more often. This is certainly no indicator of its importance to society, though. However, as much as group projects can be stressful and frustrating and this one was for us, I believe the poster fair project is a productive and positive project for this class because it allows a concentrated mix of ideas and opinions while working on a project and there s no way to do something like an informational poster fair as an individual project without requiring significantly more time over the semester. As far as how our poster turned out, I feel like ours fell short in appearance, layout, and overall cleanliness. I don t feel like our design was laid out as well as it could have been, though that is partially because we had originally intended to have another topic of feminist sexology included in the poster which was our third group member s part demedicalization of women s sexuality and sexual problems. That fact also made me feel our poster lacked overall flow and, in some ways, information since having only one issue of feminist sexology seemed like not enough. All throughout the old testament we see different places where God has shown his love and compassion towards people. One example of this is when God makes Adam and Eve. God gives them dominion over the earth and everything on it. God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them, saying: Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that move on the earth. 29 God also said: See, I give you every seed bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed bearing fruit on it to be your food; 30 and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air, and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground, I give all the green plants for food. And so it happened. 31 God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good. Evening came, and morning followed the sixth day. As you can see God is willing enough to give an entire planet to two humans who he has created. That is a lot of love and trust to give someone. God is also willing to give Adam and Eve everything to their hands. He loves them so much that he does not want them to suffer and work for everything they will need. In response to this, there was significant public outcry and opponents of marriage equality asserted that marriage could only be defined as a union between a man and a woman. This resulted in prohibitive legislation that was enacted in 1996 known as the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) DOMA prevented the federal government from recognizing same sex marriages (Baker, 2013).
