He´s not Brazilian.  OR He isn’t Brazilian.  They’re not teachers. OR They aren’t teacher. Note: threre’s only one kind of negative contraction for  I am not: I’m not. Verb  be:  yes/no questions; affirmative and negative short answers. It’s common to answer  yes/no  questions with short answers (or just  yes  or  no).  Don’t use contractions with affirmative short answers. Yes  /  no  questions  AFFIRMATIVE  NEGATIVE Are you a salesperson? Yes, I am. NOT yes, I’m  No, I’m not. Is he Italian? Yes, he is. B) Look at the Tickets.  Ask questions with  When  or  What time.  Ask a question with  where. 1- Question:  where’s the Metro? Answere:  It’s on hill street mall.   2- Question:  what time is the Electric Mayhem? Answere:  it’s at midnight. Unit 3 Lession 1 The simple presebt tense: usage Use the simple present tense to talk about  facts and habitual actions in the persent. Facts  Habitual actions Hank  speaks   French very well. In verbs of one syllable, if the last three letters are a consonant-vowel-consonant* Sequence, double the last consonant and then add- ing  to the base form. C V C  S  i  t - si tt ing But:   If the verb ends in  –w, -x,  or  –y , don’t double the final consonant. Blow-  blowing Fix-  fixing Say-  saying In verbs of more than one syllable that end in a consonant-vowel-consonant sequence, Double the last consonant only if the spoken stress is on the last syllable. Permit- premi tt ing BUT order- ordering *vowes= a, e, i, o, u. Consonats= b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, ñ, o, p, q, r, s, t, u. v, w, y, z. The present continuos: statements Form the present continous with a form of  be   and the present participle. Affirmative statements  Negative statements I’m  studying  English  I’m  not studying  English You’re  studying  French  You’re  not studying  French He’s  reading  a book  He’s  not reading  a book. She’s  reading  a newspaper  She’s  not reading  a newspaper. We’ re watchin Tv.  We´re  not watching  Tv. They ´re watching  a video.  They’re  watching  a video. B) Change each affirmative statements to a negative statements. Use contractions.  1- She’s going to the supermarket.  She’s not going to the supermarket. 2- He’s calling his wife this afternoon.  He’s not calling his wife this afternoon. 3- I’m buying tickets for a rock concert tonight.  I’m not buying tickets for a rock concert tonight. 4- The Roberts are feeding their kids early.  The roberts are not feeding their kids early. 5- Jack is taking the bus to the movies.  Jack isn’t taking the bus to the movies.
