Art Critique Essay
Writing an essay on this particular topic can be quite challenging due to the subjective nature of
art and the diverse interpretations it can evoke. Crafting a comprehensive critique requires not
only a deep understanding of various artistic techniques and styles but also the ability to
articulate personal opinions and analyses in a coherent and persuasive manner.
One of the difficulties lies in striking a balance between objective observations and subjective
impressions. While it's essential to provide factual information about the artwork, such as its
historical context, artist's background, and formal elements, it's equally crucial to express one's
subjective responses, opinions, and interpretations. This requires a nuanced understanding of art
theory and criticism, as well as the development of critical thinking skills to evaluate the
artwork's effectiveness in conveying its intended message or eliciting certain emotions.
Furthermore, conducting research for an art critique essay can be challenging, especially when
dealing with lesser-known or contemporary artworks that may not have extensive scholarly
analysis available. This necessitates thorough investigation into the artist's intentions, influences,
and the broader cultural or social context in which the artwork was created.
Moreover, the process of writing an art critique essay involves careful observation and analysis of
visual elements such as composition, color, line, texture, and form, as well as conceptual
elements such as symbolism, metaphor, and thematic content. Articulating these observations in
a clear and concise manner while providing meaningful insights into the artwork's significance
can be daunting.
Additionally, grappling with the ambiguity and subjectivity inherent in art can pose a challenge
when formulating arguments and conclusions. Different viewers may perceive and interpret the
same artwork in vastly different ways, making it essential for the essay writer to acknowledge
and address alternative viewpoints while substantiating their own interpretations with evidence
and reasoned analysis.
In conclusion, writing an essay on this topic requires a combination of artistic sensitivity,
analytical rigor, research skills, and persuasive writing ability. It demands a deep engagement
with the artwork in question, as well as an understanding of the broader cultural and critical
discourses surrounding it. Despite its challenges, engaging in the process of art critique can be
intellectually rewarding, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of visual culture.

ABSTRACT
Setting basic information in the hands of a cloud supplier ought to accompany the
assurance of security and accessibility for information very still, in movement, and
being used. A few choices exist for capacity administrations, while information
secrecy answers for the database as an administration standard are still youthful. We
propose a novel construction modeling that coordinates cloud database
administrations with information secrecy and the likelihood of executing
simultaneous operations on scrambled information. This is th first arrangement
supporting geologically disseminated customers to join straightforwardly to a
scrambled cloud database, and to execute simultaneous and autonomous operations
including those adjusting the database structure. The proposed building design has
the further favorable position of wiping out middle of the road intermediaries that
cutoff the versatility, accessibility, and adaptability properties that are inborn in cloud
based arrangements. The viability of the proposed construction modeling is assessed
through hypothetical examinations and broad test results in view of a model usage
subject to the TPC C standard benchmark for diverse quantities of customers and
system latencies.

Assimilation During Immigrants
mmigration is a subject that everyone is talking about. Specifically, assimilation
during immigration. Should people keep their culture or assimilate into society? In
all fairness to both sides of this argument, assimilation is necessary for everyday life
to run smoothly for all americans, not just the immigrants. This is because
immigrants will usually not adhere to our food, religion, or language at first. They
then accept that adapting is the only way to survive. The reasoning behind
assimilation is fairly simple. While one could attempt to blend their cultureand ours, if
only given the option of one, there is no question. Hardly anyone can function in a
society without adapting to their environment, which boils down to the very most

On 7th December 2014 I undertook an 11 week internship in Cambodia with the
Jesuit Refugee Service. The internship was arranged through Macquarie University s
Participation and Community Engagement (PACE) program, and undertaken for
academic credit as part of the Bachelor of Laws study program.
Australian Volunteers International (AVI) partnered with PACE to offer logistical
assistance and student training. Pre and post departure training involved modules
such as working ethically in developing countries, building cultural sensitivity, and
developing self care practices. In country training modules included Cambodia s
history, current political and social movements, and law and governance in
Cambodia. Weekly Khmer language lessons were also undertaken while in Cambodia.
The internship was offered to twelve law students who demonstrated academic
competency and a broad range of personal attributes including interpersonal and
communication skills, commitment to teamwork, cultural sensitivity, leadership,
personal drive and motivation. The internship was predominately based in Phnom
Penh, and involved travel to Siam Reap, Battambang, and Ratanakiri provinces.
This portfolio documents the work undertaken and knowledge gained while
conducting legal research at the Jesuit Refugee Service. It

Carol Rogers Influence in Psychology
Carl Rogers and His Influence on Modern Psychology
Introduction
Carl Rogers is considered the founder of client centered therapy, which asserts that
childhood experiences affect an individual s feelings, thoughts, and behavior (Rathus,
2004). The therapist must see the world from that of the client to be effective in
treatment. Rogers has influenced many psychological theories and therapies present
today, especially positive psychology. Despite this fact, many who practice positive
psychology do not, or are not willing to, accept the influence of past theories.
Client Centered Therapy In 1959, Rogers asserted that the therapeutic relationship is
used differently with different clients and it is not necessary to manipulate the ...

This type of therapy began to be misused and negative emotion, that may play a
beneficial role in therapy, was ignored completely. In fact, pessimism can even
become an important strategy to deal with anxiety. Individuals can use negative
thinking as a defensive strategy to work through their anxiety with the result being
just as effective as those who take an optimistic approach (Chang Norem, 2002; as
cited in La Torre, p. 153). In a true clinical setting, a patient is free to express feelings
and experiences to facilitate self healing through positive intervention techniques.
With the data available on positive psychology, many clinicians may be tempted to
utilize a particular positive intervention with the belief it will make a tremendous
impact on the patient. However, this may be unhealthy for the patient who may need
to experience negative or difficult emotion to work through the issue they are dealing
with. Nonetheless, positive therapy has a definitive useful role in psychological
treatment and adds a deeper dimension to the treatment setting (p. 404). Therapists
who use this type of therapy, however, should remember not to become a slave to
the tyrannies of optimism (Seligman, 1990, p. 292; as cited in La Torre, p. 404).
Carl Rogers and Positive Psychology Many of Carl Rogers s ideas have been
influential on modern psychological practices, and specifically in the area of positive
psychology. Client centered therapy is

show not only my strengths but also my weakness . This skill assessment is really a
eye opener to skills that I thought I was strong in, but thought about it for a second

improving my weak points and making my strong points even stronger.
One of my particular weaknesses is my speaking and at times it refeclts in my writing

Good And Evil In Gregory Maguire s Wicked
Anger and evil are main emotion that are portrayed in the book Wicked. These
emotions are clear in Gregory Maguire s famous novel, Wicked, which was published
in 1995 and takes place in the Land of Oz. This novel is one of Maguire s bestselling
books and in 2003 they decided to turn it into a musical and to this day it still gets
performed to this day. Now Wickedis based on Oz therefor in the book there are
many things that tie together the two books. Wicked is supposed to be a better
version of The Wizard of Oz. The Wizard of Oz was written many years before
Wicked even though when looking at a timeline it shows Wicked should be first, then
Oz. The book revolves around these two main Character Elphabaand Glinda, there are

Elphaba because Glinda brings the evil out in Elphaba and that is not a good thing
because she makes her feel poorly of herself and no one wants to feel that way.
Elphaba also becomes very jealous of Glinda and that is a start to another conflict
between the two of them. Then end up turning against each other and they are
enemies. Good vs. Evil would be another popular theme in the book and it can go
along with the first one pretty well because it s about the same characters. The
good witch brings out the evil in the wicked witch. Now when you really think
about this theme you have to realize that this whole book basically says everyone
is evil. But you have to purposely want to be evil you can t just accidentally do
that. When it comes to goodness you have to practice that over time it doesn t just
come naturally. If Elphaba actually practiced being nice she would ve had more
friends by the end and less enemies. But it was the other way around and that is
fine but by the end of the book she wasn t alive. No one could put up with how she
treated others and people could see that she wasn t going to change no matter if they
thought she would. The book Wicked presents many different themes but the ones
that I pulled out really stuck with me and it described the layout of the book in a

The Intervention Plan Of Mario s Case Essay
orker s Intervention Plan Since the last review of Mario s case, there have been
many changes in his life as well as the course of therapy. The most significant
change is that a recent argument caused Candace to resign her position and move
back home to San Antonio, Tx. Mario remains in Washington, and continues his
weekly therapy sessions. Despite this considerable change, Mario was able to self
regulate and continue to decrease his drinking and other negative coping habits.
One practice that was employed after the split was Problem Solving Therapy. This
evidence based intervention was utilized to help him prioritize his goals and make
steps towards accomplishing them. His main goals included decreasing his
depressive behaviors, decreasing his drinking behaviors, and finding a trade or
educational program to further his skills in a craft related field. While his
behavior was never perfect nor was it expected to be over the course of four weeks
he was successful in all of his goals. During this time he had what he considered slip
ups, but was able to learn and grow from them in a meaningful way. Following
through with his action plans allowed him to feel empowered in changing his life on
his own. Furthermore, it helped him to regain control over his mood. Because Mario
worked hard in improving his situation, his relationship with Candace improved. They
are currently on speaking terms, and considering the possibility of moving forward
with their future together.

The Ludovisi Throne is 0.84 m or a little bit over two and a half feet tall and three
sided. It is originally from Locri Epizefiri in the south of Italy and was found in 1887
close to the Villa Ludovisi in Rome. Since 1901 the Ludovisi Throne is held in
Rome, Museo Nazionale. This piece is a perfect blending of late Archaic grace with
severe style. This piece was created around 460 BCE and is a beautiful sculpture of
this time period.
The first panel shows a naked flute girl who is playing a double flute. Her right leg
crossed while she s reclined, which is said to be anatomically impossible. Her hair is
in a bun and wrapped in a sakkos. The last panel is a veiled woman who is sitting
before an incense burner. She is appeared to have taken an incense out of a box and
is holding it in her right hand. She is believed to be praying to the goddess. Her
sandal doesn t have a strap making that another mistake made.
The middle panel is the most famous panel of the Ludovisi Throne. It shows the birth
of aphrodite. She is rising from the waves, dressed in a clinging robe and her hair
bound by a fillet. Her clothes are wet revealing her body. She is helped out of the
water by two women standing on the pebbled shore. Aphrodite s helpers are
dressed in doric peplos and ionian chiton. Doric peplos is a garment worn to the
sixth century and was made up of wool died indigo, madder or saffron and was
frequently patterned. The upper edges of this garment was folded over to hang down

Theories Of Cognitive Theory
Learning and Cognitive Theory
Introduction
Cognitive Learning Theory explains various things regarding brain like why the
brain is most incredible network of information processing and interpretation in body
as we start to learn things. The word learning usually mean to think using the brain .
This is the basic concept of learning. This theory is used to explain mental processes.
Learning and Cognitive theories imply that by analyzing mental processes first,
different learning processes can be explained. Effective cognitive processes result to
easy learning and ineffective cognitive processes results learning difficulties that
during the lifetime of an individual can be seen anytime. This theory can be divided
into two specific theories.
1. Social Cognitive Theory (SCT)
2. Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT)

Cognitive theorists are interested in development of mind as well as its functions. It
is the study of mental processes that affects behavior.
George Kelly, clinical psychologist and university professor, developed a postulate
to explain its psychological theory which is, a person acts in such a way based on his
interpretation of his past events.
Thoughts play an important part in understanding cognitive theory. Many cognitive
theorists believe that without thought processes, we might have no emotions, no
behavior and no feelings and therefore we would not function. So, we can say that
thoughts always come before any feeling and before any action. By changing
thoughts, we can change our mood, improve our relationships, decrease our anxiety
and so on. Thoughts have a huge effect on a person s personality. One can quit
smoking, make new friends, solve problems, enjoy jobs and more.

Physics of Salsa Dancing Essay
Salsa has become an ever more popular dance in the United States, especially with
the emergence of Latin artists including Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin, Jennifer
Lopez, and Shakira. Go to any club or ballroom dance and you will hear a
pulsating beat moving you out of your chair and onto the floor. Even Broadway
has been affected by Latin music. For instance, Cell Block Tango in the smash hit
Chicago has a driving Latin beat. It doesn t matter if you are partying in Miami or
sipping martinis in Massachusetts, Salsa has invaded America and taken a grip on
the culture. Some even consider Salsa an addiction. Perhaps it s because of the
addictive quality inherent in this rhythm which fuels the desire to become part of it

Fifth through eighth beat repeat previous four mirroring the direction, leader does
what the follower did and vice versa
Now let s find the center of mass in the x direction at the pause in this step.
The equation for the center of mass in the x direction is xcm=(Mx1+ mx2)/(M+m)
where M is the mass of the leader, m is the mass of the follower, x1 is the position of
the leader, and x2 is the position of the follower.
Turn
The turn starts off with the follower and the leader side by side and hands crossed.
The leader pulls the follower so that she is facing him.
Let us find the amount of work done by the system when defining the dancers as
particles. The diameter will be defined as the length from the outer edge of one
dancer to the outer edge of the other dancer. M will stand for the leader s mass and m
will be used for the follower s mass. w will be the angular velocity, I will be the
moment of inertia, and r is radius.
To find the work you must subtract the intial kinetic energyfrom the final kinetic
energy. The equation for rotational kinetic energy is: Iw2. The equation for the
moment of inertia for particles is: (M+m)r2
So calculating this gives you:{[(M+m)final radius2]final w2}
Ethics Case Study Summary
Summary In this case study a view of ethics or social responsibility is presented.
The case study addresses what some applicants are willing to do in order to obtain
the job being pursued or to get ahead. A few applicants are willing to change or
misrepresent a small fact on their application or resume (Gomez Mejia, Balkin,
Cardy, 2016). Some alterations are to conceal information that is protected by law
such as date of birth (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Other times the
alterations are made to make an applicant appear more qualified in order to obtain a
job being sought (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Reasoning for the alterations
aside, misrepresentations on resumes by applicants happens about 30% of the time
(Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Resume/Job Application Fraud
Misrepresentations, on resumes or applications, no matter the size or issue are
considered fraud. While at the time the applicant may deem the actions harmless, the
actions really are not. Fraud is a concern for any organization for varying reasons. One

Factors Affecting Human Population Growth
Stunting Human Population Growth
No Population can have an ongoing exponential growth without having a limit that
rules over the population s size. This limit is called the carrying capacity. Carrying
capacity is the number of people, animals and crops that a region can support without
environmental degradation. The way things are now, the human population is going to
break through its carrying capacity very soon. Exceeding the carrying capacity means
that the number of humans roaming the earth is greater than the number of humans
the food supply can hold. Therefore, the only way to avoid a future battle for food is
by reducing the birth rate of newborns in families across the globe.
There is three ways that can prove effective against our growing population. 1.Laws:
One way for a country or other ruling authoritative body to control population growth
is to institute laws that prohibit high fertility. 2.Contraception: Another important way
to limit population growth is to increase the rate of contraception among the
population. 3.Economics: When the cost of having a child is extremely high, it
deters parents from having more than a couple of kids. Everyone have their own
opinion on which of these methods would work best in keeping our population under
check. However, I believe that even though that all of these methods can prohibit high
fertility, only through contraception and education the population will stay under
control for the longest time. According to the
Peer to Peer Piracy and the Film Industry Essay
Peer to Peer Piracy and the Film Industry
Introduction
Each day an estimated 400,000 films exchange hands through the Internet. Movie
piracy, once reserved to pirate syndicates and illegal duplication factories, has become
a common staple among college students with high speed internet access. With
advanced compression technology, movie files can be transferred across continents in
hours and across campus networks in under ten minutes. File sharing is seen as a
victimless crime, but the motion picture industry is expected to lose $3.5 billion this
year alone due to piracy. Pirate activities undermine every aspect of the legitimate
filmmaking business since legitimate retailers cannot possibly compete fairly with
pirate business. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This carefully planned release of the film to different markets is known as
distribution windows, and is essential to the survival of the film industry. If a film is
pirated at any point, the worth of that film can be fatally depleted long before it can
retrieve its initial investment.
Film Releases
There are generally two critical points in a film s distribution window where it can
be pirated: in theatres, and retail DVDs. The most important release for a film is its
theatrical release. A movie can earn back close to half of its budget in its opening
weekend. However, the film can be pirated in two ways. Pirates can use hand held
video cameras to record films off of theater screens and then copy these films onto
other medias. Another method of piracy involves the theft of the film print from a
theater. This type of theft allows the pirate to make a relatively high quality copy
from the theatrical print, which then serves as the master for the duplication of
unauthorized copies. These illicit copies are not only distributed to pirates in the US,
but also shipped overseas and distributed through illegal channels even before the
film s international theatrical release, cannibalizing a film s opening weekend
returns. These copies are usually encoded and transferred over the Internet as well as
through peer to peer networks.
The second critical point is copies from retail DVDs. Before DVDs are sold to the
public, production facilities churn out a
The Critical Thinking Assignment For Module One
CT #1 Option #2: Sets #2
The Critical Thinking assignment for Module One, Option Two, is a series of five
questions pertaining to Set Theory and Venn diagrams. In short, Set Theory is the
notion in which items (e.g., numbers, colors, people), referred to in mathematics as
elements can be grouped into sets in order to organize and understand elements (Jech,
1971). In relation, Venn diagrams are circular illustrations utilized to visually express
relationships between sets (GrГјnbaum, 1975). It is imperative to understand the
relation between sets and Venn diagrams in order to fully comprehend Set Theory.

Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b, c}, B= {c, d, e, f} Find A B . There are three
necessary steps to solve. First, one must find the complement of A, A = {d, e, f, g}.
Next, one must solve for the complement of B, B = {a, b, g}. Now, the problem
solver has the critical information to solve for the difference (A = {d, e, f, g}) (B =
{a, b, g}). Finally, one can deduce A B = {d, e, f}.
Problem Number Four Similarly to problem number one, problem number four
returns to the use of a Venn diagram to solve the problem. However, this time there is
an additional complement within the brackets. Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b,
c, f}, B= {c, d}, C= {a, d, e, f, g}, find ( B∩C)∩A . Step one, fill out a three
circle Venn diagram including all sets, U, A, B, C. Next, find the complement of B,
B = {a, b, e, f, g}. Then, find the intersection of B and C, ( B∩C) = {a, d, e, f, g}.
Next, one must solve for A , A = {e,g} Lastly, solve for pug in setvalues and solve,
{a, d, e, f, g} ∩ {e, g} = {e. g}. Therefore, one can now resolve, ( B∩C)∩A =
{e, g}.
Problem Number Five Lastly, problem number five again addresses complements.
The equation is as follows, U= {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18,...}, A= {6, 8, 10} Find
A . Remembering the complement is the set of elements of U that are not elements of
A, one must solve for A . Therefore, one
Analysis Of Shane Koyczan And Many Artists
To this day is a spoken word poem and video illustration by Shane Koyczan and
many artists. It was created in 2013 with the purpose of effectively spreading the
convincing message that bullying is a real and serious thing that is too often
dismissed as normal and not acted upon as the serious thing it is. 2013 was shortly
after the new large push against bullying which is likely one large reason as to the
creation and popularity of this work. However even with the anti bullying movement
it would not have become popular if it was not in itself an effective piece at
conveying its own point against bullying and contributing to the cause. Koyczan
made his piece so successful by successfully using ethosand pathosto make hard
hitting grounded points to his purpose. He also used small amounts of logos but it
was not a majorly effective part of his piece. Ethos is the way the writer creates a
persona that allows the audienceto see them as trustworthy, relatable, knowledgeable,
and as someone with authority. Then uses these to convince an audience of their
point. This is use of ethos effectively done in the creation of koyczan s poem to this
day . He shows his reliability and knowledge to the viewer by showing them that he
has personal experience with the main topic. He tells the story of his pain when he
was bullied and how simple name calling left lasting effects on him personally. This
not only lets the viewer see that he has a reliable viewpoint, it shows that he has

Essay On Sam Houston s Demagogical Union Saving
Doctrines
The main question that had been asked was whether Texas should stay apart of the
union or leave to be their individual territory . Sam Houston s inauguration in
December of 1859 made him the only man to this day who served as governor of two
states (Gone to Texas, page. 236). He was the governor of Tennessee as well as Texas
,
which aroused expressions of anger from ultra southerners . According to Sam
Houston s Demagogical Union Saving Doctrines (Gone to Texas, pg. 236) Runnels

Southerners and their interests at the time. According to the Texas State Library and
Archives Commission, Texas was not far behind . Sam Houston refused to call the

Throughout research, knowledge already known, a decision on seceding or staying
with the union had to be made. Many; actually majority of counties in Texas voted
to secede from the union. Texas had plenty of resources and what they needed to
manage for survival and production of others. In The Texas Ordinance of Secession
document, many agreed with the argument believing Texas abandoned her separate
national existence and consented to become one of the Confederate States to
promote her welfare, insure domestic tranquility and secure more substantially the
blessings of peace and liberty to her people. Many believed Texas could not do it on
their own. Texas had been received into their own confederacy with a constitution
under the guarantee of the federal constitution. Bosque County, Texas voted on
leaving the Union back in 1861. This county had been one of the many that wanted
to be on their own and away from the Union. Now, with the knowledge we already
know about what happened to Texas, we realize that they had successfully seceded
from the Union and went on to join the Confederate States that had already
Theme Of Conflict In Ayn RandBy Equality 7-2521
The writing of the author s work depicts the author s purpose in the novel. With the
tragic society that Equality 7 2521 survives in, it not only proclaims the major
conflicts in the story, but also passes along Ayn Rand s writing on how it
contributes to expressing the conflicts even further. The prime conflict is
individualism itself in a world that doesn t follow the philosophy of one s
attributions to be upheld. It doesn t exist because of a society that sways the course
of people s lives, coming in the way to maintain an atmosphere with no higher
power than another. We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the
great WE, One, indivisible and forever. (Rand, 1) This is shown in the novelbecause
Equality 7 2521 cannot go ahead with what he wants to have for himself in life
which is to be in the Home of the Scholars but instead is assigned to become a Home
Sweeper. Moreover, the style that Ayn Rand
uses in her writing gives the readers the
better awareness of how strict the society is that not even the narrator can speak and
refer about himself. It is a sin for anyone to fall in loveand choose their own mate as
Equality 7 2521 wants and des with Liberty 5 3000. He went to prison for writing,
doing scientific experiments inside a hidden tunnel, falling in love and most of all

technology. The manner that she uses helps to spread across the message about a

Tactics In The Civil War Essay
Tactics in the Civil War were influenced by a few factors. Most notably is the
contribution made by the spy network. They helped the northern generals formulate
tactics to counter the south, prevented the south from making counterattacks, and
also changed the progression of the war. The spy network laid the groundwork for
some of the tactics used. Allan Pinkerton would only work for George B.
McClellan and would go on various scouting missions for information. Pinkerton
made an agency for spies and recruited Pryce Lewis. In 1861, Lewis was chosen to
go scout enemy troops in West Virginia and did so with great accuracy. McClellan
ordered Lewis to go to General Cox and give him the information. Cox wasted no time
in exploiting the new intelligence. ... Surprised, the Confederates fled south,
abandoning Charleston to its fate The information that Lewis had gotten to Cox

The Pinkerton Agency recently recruited Timothy Webster, and he was going to be
one of their best spies. Earlier, Pinkerton had realised that the Confederates already
had a spy network setup in the capital. Webster was sent to the south to become a
double agent. When Webster was sent to the north to get reports, he could deliver
confederate information to Pinkerton. While Webster was in the south he found out
some of the locations, names, and roles of agents in the north and had them arrested.
Through this setup they could destroy the foundation of the southern spy network
and prevent them from making counterplans. When Webster was caught two more
spies were sent to find Webster but were caught. One of them gave away
information to be set free and the other was black so he was set
Charles Manson Neglect
Other Contexts of Neglect and Abuse Manson s grandparents. When Kathy
Maddox was arrested and imprisoned in 1940 for an armed robbery, 6 year old
Manson was sent to live with his grandparents who were perceived as overly
obsessive religious fanatics. According to Hickey (2003), Manson s grandmother
dominated the household with both a stern and unwavering interpretation of what
she believed to be God s plan and some of her strictly religious practices included
intense prayer sessions both before and after meals, as well as at bedtime. There
was no drinking, smoking, or swearing allowed, and Manson was told to turn the
other cheek to any violent or aggressive act initiated by some of the other kids at
school. His grandmother also demanded that everyone living in her house must
abide by her rules or else suffer the consequences, and this included her own husband
as well. As Hickey (2003) explains, Manson never witnessed any display of affection

Adler s theory of individual personality doesn t necessarily account for individuals
with two unique sides personality, which is evident throughout the context and
background of his life. On one hand, he was a magnetic and loving person that
drew in others with his intelligence and self proclaimed talent. On the other hand,
the persona he presented to others was not his true self. Deep within the depths of
Manson s charming personality hides a villain, a manipulator, a criminal, and a
murderer. In addition to the many lies that he has told about both himself and his
life, as well as the manipulative behavior he displays, it s exceptionally hard to
decipher what is fact and what is just simply untrue, making the application of any
psychological theory nearly impossible. However, Adlerian theory does provide a
probable explanation for why Manson turned out the way he

A Comparison Of Two Versions Of The Little Mermaid
In both versions of The Little Mermaid , the role of the mermaid is depicted as a
strong willed character who faces the problems of being a rebellious teenager and
struggles to procure what she desires most in life. In my personal opinion, Disney s
version of The Little Mermaid has a greater plot. Because of its theme good vs evil,
Disney s The Little Mermaidhas an expanded storyline and extra characters, including
Ursula, a villain which Hans Christian Andersen s story lacks.
Anderson s version of The Little Mermaid is mostly to the point. He has no added
accounts or extended plot. The little mermaid dreams of going to the surface, but

The sea witch in this story is not particularly evil, seeing as how she has no ulterior
motive. True, she does take the little mermaids tongue as payment, but the sea
witch gets nothing out of whether or not the prince falls in love with the young
mermaid. On the other hand, in Disney s The Little Mermaid, there is clearly a
villain, without whom there would be no theme of good vs evil. Ursula is clever
and uses magic to take the Little Mermaid s voice, so that if things go awry she
can take matters into her own hands, which she does. Her ultimate goal is to rule
the ocean and she knows Triton wouldn t hesitate to hand over his power if it
means saving his youngest daughter, who is clearly his favorite. On the wedding
ship we see her in her disguised form singing into the mirror, Things are working

ocean will be mine! Without Ursula, the movie lacks the climax that it needs. She
definitely adds a commercial aspect to the movie. Not only is she a villain for
children to root against, but she adds some amusement for adults as well. If we
pay close enough attention, we notice that she adds a little bit of adult humor. Not
only that, but she is a villain in other ways than just what the kids will see. She
tells Ariel boys aren t that impressed with conversation and continues to explain
how they would much rather prefer to look at her pretty face and figure. In other
words, she is encouraging Ariel to use her body to get what she wants, which isn t
exactly advice we want our children following, one day. Nonetheless, good always

This was also down to parliament authorising seamstresses to compete with tailors
who previously were only allowed to produce corsets. These new breeds of corset
makers were naturally more sensitive to women, and applied themselves to making
corsets lighter and less painful than its predecessors.
In the Victorian era, corsets became longer and became not only about supporting
and lifting the breast, but creating a tiny hourglass waist. Women were so tightly
corseted that they could not bend over but to add to the strain the corset was hung
with an extraordinary amount of gear, a combined system of garters and
suspenders. One important date in the history of the corset was the year 1840.
This was the year in which the system called lazy lacing was invented, in which a
set of elastic laces allowed women to easily put on, and remove their corsets.
Women had now predominantly taken over from the specialized work of crafting

During this era, corsets became more specialized, corsets ranged from nuptial

stayless corsets for night wear, nursing corsets with drawbridge gussets, travelling
corsets with tabs that could be let out at night for sleeping, riding corsets with elastic
at the hips; corsets for singing, for dancing, for bathing at the seaside and the list of
possible variations went on. As

The Twelve Tribes of Hattie is a story of a Hattie Shepherd, a young girl who leaves
from Georgia and moves to Philadelphia, looking for the opportunity of a better life

the Great Migration; a movement that began 1916 when six million African

The main requirements for the growth of micro organisms are time and moisture,
some need oxygen and warmth, (although micro organisms can live without air and
live in temperatures from 0 to 40 + degrees).
2.2 Explain the ways an infection agent might enter the body.
Microorganisms must either attach to, or penetrate one of bodies surfaces. The site
through which a microorganism enters the body is called the route of entry. The skin
acts as a protective barrier, in order to cause infection the microorganism must break
through the protective barrier. they either do this through a natural opening such as
the mouth ,nose, ears, eyes, urethra, rectum or vagina, or enter through a unnatural
break in the skins surface such as cuts and grazes, bites or scratches. They can also
occur through a surgical wound caused by a operation. Also conditions such as
psoriasis or eczema cause breaks in the skin which microorganisms can enter.

Evaluation Of The Different Treatment Choices For The...
Evaluation of the different treatment choices for the management of seasonal allergic
rhinitis.
Allergic rhinitis (AR) is an inflammatory condition which affects the membrane lining
of the nose; causing it to become sensitive to allergens such as pollen, dust and animal
dander. During AR, antigens bind with immunoglobulin E(IgE) to form an antigen
antibody complex which then attach themselves to the surface of nasal mast cells;
inducing a cascade of cellular events leading to mast cell degranulation and the
release of histamine via exocytosis. The release of histamine and other inflammatory
mediators on blood vessel and nerve endings results in the symptoms of AR such as
sneezing, itching and nasal discharge (rhinorrhoea). AR which occurs the same time
every year is known as seasonal AR or more commonly known as hay fever .
Avoiding causative allergens is essential in the management of the symptoms of AR;
however, drug treatment is used to alleviate and control its symptoms. This
evaluation will focus on the use of H1 anti histamines, corticosteroids and IgE
therapy in the treatment and management of seasonal AR. (ARIA, 2008)
Treatment options
Drug treatment in the management of AR includes the use of selective H1 anti
histamines, corticosteroids and in persistent, uncontrollable cases, immunotherapy
may be an option. H1 anti histamines and corticosteroids are routinely used in the
treatment of AR are available in topical formulations such as nasal sprays and eye
The Importance Of Voter Voting In The United States
Despite popular opinion that the United States is the greatest democracy in the
world, we have shockingly low voter turnout compared to international standards
(Desilver). A complicated registration process and strict restrictions on voting
consistently discourage and inhibit Americans from exercising their right to vote.
Despite this, lawmakers continue to push for and often pass unnecessary legislation
limiting the ways in which citizens can register and cast their ballot. Certain
demographics are the most likely to be hindered by this kind of legislation,
including young people, poor people, and people of color. Politicians often use
claims of voter fraud as an excuse to systematically hinder these marginalized groups
from participating in the democratic process, despite being unable to back up those
claims with any kind of concrete evidence. The limiting of votingrights for young and
minority populations is often blatantly politically motivated. Continuing to pile
restrictions and obstacles onto our electoral process is not only unnecessary, it is
contradictory to democratic values. There should be a shift in the focus of voting
legislation towards expanding the ways in which citizens can participate in elections
and away from limiting them, which would both increase voter turnoutand ensure that
all people have an equal voice in our government.
Voter registration legislation being used as a tactic to disenfranchise minority voters
has a long history in United States
Are Honor Codes Necessary
Is an honor code necessary? In any circumstance where a person s integrity is tested,
an honor code is essential. Furthermore, an honor code will deter cheating and
implement and embed integrity into the school s culture. Regardless of the students
who refute to confine themselves into the system, it will ultimately influence
everyone under the code. Students will generate a moral sense that weighs the costs
and benefits of cheating. With this in mind, I believe that my schoolshould establish
an honor code considering that it profoundly influences the culture of the school, it
contributes into creating integrity as a habit, and it ensures a safe academic
environment.
First, establishing an honor code will mold integrity into a social norm. Likewise,
enforcing rules to eliminate cheating and unoriginal content remarkably impacts the
culture of the school. By enforcing strict rules and punishments into the school s
system, students gradually grow aware and take pre cautions. As a result, peer culture

majority of students deem high school as any annoying obstacle rather than a period

is journal writing a beneficial tool for student learning? How can it become more

broad overview of journal usage. This is to help me decide what the most effective

First, let us look at what journal writing is. Journal writing is a method to provide

Journals are also a way for students to express ideas without feeling pressure to
respond in a certain manner in order to receive a good grade.
Along with the freedom to express thoughts and concerns, a journal also can
provide the freedom in which you express these thoughts and concerns. Journals
are considered an artist s notebook. Journal entries are normally done by using
words, however there is a move to allow students to use photographs, drawings,
paintings, or any creative way the student may choose to express themselves.
According to Teaching Writing written by Gail Tompkins, the purpose of journal
writing is for students to use journals to 1) record personal experiences, 2) explore
reactions and interpretations, and 3) record and analyze information. These criteria
or aspects can be applied to any and all disciplines. I think that the most important
place to include journal wrtiting is in the English classroom. This is where writing
begins to take shape. Since it such a vital aspect of everyday life, students should
feel comfortable expressing themselves and should have the means to do so. Journals
allow students the opportunity to visual express themselves and to see their ideas on

Law of Reflection: Reflection and refraction are common properties of light. When a
ray of light comes into contact with the surface of some material, part of the ray is
reflected and part of it is absorbed. In other words, reflection occurs when an
incident ray hits a reflective surface and bounces off. The law of reflection states that
the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence (always in respect to the
normal) and that the incident ray, the normal line and the reflected ray are all located
in the same plane.
Snell s Law of Refraction: When a ray of light reaches a boundary between two
transparent mediums, reflection and refraction occur. Refraction takes place when
rays of light bend across the boundary into the second medium which causes a change
in the light s velocity. The denser the medium, the slower the light.
Total Internal Reflection: Internal reflection refers to light travelling from a higher
index medium to a lower index medium, which causes the ray to bend away from the
normal, so the exit angle is greater than the incident angle. As the angle of incidence
increases, so does the angle of refraction. Total internal reflection takes place when
the angle of incidence is greater than the

The structure of a market, thus how a market is functioning, is the concept behind the
industrial organization theory . The Industrial Organization (IO) theory is about, how
a structure of a market has an influence on the strategy and decision making of a

In 1975 such a diachronic dialectic was found for the first time in de music industry
by Peterson and Berger. They saw an active interaction/connection between small and
large firms, which influenced the market. While the large firms were competing with
each other, niches opened up and were filled by smaller firms.
But unlike the music industry and the American film industry (Mezias Mezias, 2000),
there is not a diachronic dialectic between small firms and large firms in the stand up
comedy industry.
According to the resource partitioning theory, a theory conceptualized by Caroll in
1985, this dialectic exists when the big firms are competing with each other. Just a
few of these generalists survive and they move forward toward the centre of the
market. Because of this movement small pockets of resources open up, where smaller
firms can thrive (Vermeulen Bruggeman, 2000).
However, in the stand up comedy industry it is difficult to underestimate large and
small firms, instead we distinguish comedians and the media they use to reach their
audience. Hence it weren t large firms causing the opening of the niches for smaller
firms. Instead it has been the increase of the use of media over the past couple
decades that has stimulated the creative industry of stand up comedy.

stress is when the stressors involved are workrelated. NIOSH the National Institute for

If you have a lot of work to do and you feel yourself getting frustrated take a short
break. If you take five to ten minutes and walk around or listen to music this can take
away some of your stress. If you take breaks regularly you are more likely to get as
stressed out. Another cause of job related stress is impending layoffs. Not many
people are safe from this because labor in the workforce is not at a high demand right
now. There s not much you can do if you are in jeopardy of being laid off besides
prepare for it. Have your resume ready and constantly try to update it. Also keep
your network a live by asking co workers about their status and if they have heard
anything about layoffs. This way you can see where the company is making most
of its cut backs. It will be easier to know if you are endanger of being laid off. The
only positive to being laid off is if you had been wanting a career change. If you
would like to pursue a different job now would be the time to attempt to. When
you are still working and looking for another job you are not in desperate need of a
job like you are when you are unemployed. The last thing that can create stress at

Just because someone is standing up for what is right does not mean they will
always be well liked or they will fit in with everyone. If someone stands up for what
is right and everyone else disagrees with them there may be some serious
consequences. In The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, Tessie Hutchinson spoke against
their tradition, nobody would listen to her but she still spoke against it. She tried
and tried, no matter how difficult it was, to get into the townspeople s mind that
they should not be doing what they are doing, that it is wrong. Some people are
not as brave as Tessie Hutchinson, Martin Niemoller, for example, had the chance
to speak up against the Nazi, he had the chance to speak for what is right, instead he
kept silent in First they came . It is hard standing up for what is right, especially
when you do not know what the consequences are, whether you ll get hurt or teased
or whether somebody else will.
In detail, The Lottery is about standing up for what is right is not always the easiest
path. For example, Some places have already quit lotteries Mrs. Adams said.
Another quote that goes along with that is, Nothing but trouble in that, Old Man
Warner said stoutly. Pack of young fools. (paragraph 33 34). The reason why this
relates to the text because this is the time that Tessie Hutchinson could have stood
up and told everyone that it is not right to have this lottery, instead she kept quiet
because she knew it was not going to be easy standing up to the whole town and
saying that what they are doing is not right. She could have stood up more than she
did, instead she chose to wait until it was her who won the lottery. Another
example to support the theme is, Tessie Hutchinson shouted to Mr. Summers, You
didn t give him time enough to take any paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair!
(paragraph 45), another quote that goes along with it is, Be a good sport Tessie,
Mrs. Delacroix called, and Mrs. Graves said, All of us took the same chance.
(paragraph 46). The reason why these two pieces of evidence supports the theme,
standing up for what s right may not always be the easiest path, is by showing that
Tessie does stand up. Maybe she is not standing up for the fact that
Competitive Interactions between Apis and Bombus Essay
The invasive European honeybees create a competitive environment for the native
bumblebee as their ecological niches (species total use of abiotic and biotic
resources) overlap; thus, creating a niche differentiation (the increase in species
using resources causes a wider range of resources being used) between the two
species. The invasive and native bees exemplify a symbiotic relationship in which
interaction could possibly be detrimental to both species competition (an interaction
in which species use the same resources). Moreover, the invasive European honeybee
(Apis mellifera) decreases the population of the native bumblebee(Bombus
occidentalis) in northern California by creating a niche overlap and competition for

Although it is difficult to directly exemplify the impact of invasive European
honeybees on native bumblebees through floral resources, many studies prove
there is an indirect relationship between the species concerning overlapping of
their ecological niche (Thomson 2004). Diane Thomson conducted an experiment
measuring the impacts of the invasive honeybee on the native bumblebee through
competition for nectar and pollen resources. Each summer from 1998 through
2000, two to three Apis colonies (each consisting of 10,000 15,000 workers) were
introduced into three sites from early June to early September (Thomson 2004).
Each Apis colony was placed 2 km apart. For the native bumblebees, B.
occidentalis colonies were located at 10 m, 500 m, and 1000 m away from each
site. Since there are three distances, and three different sites, there were nine B.
occidentalis colonies in total. The B. occidentalis species was placed in the same
location every year; however, the distance treatment was altered (Thomson 2004). To
reduce the factors that may alter the results, laboratory reared colonies were used to
minimize any differences in the Bombus colonies and weighed to keep the amount
consistent (Thomson 2004). Overall, Thomson s experiment exemplified the direct
effects of the invasive Apis species on reproductive success and foraging activity of
the native Bombus.
Observations showed Apis foragers declined with distances in flower patches
(Thomson 2004). Simply,
The White Star Line
At this time, the means of mass transportation moved out to the ocean which is why
they existed to carry many people for these ships maiden voyages. Three different
stratifications of society were able to travel by the waterways, as in the Titanic there
were the three uniquely designed decks to meet each passengers financial
expectations and lifestyles. The interior designing of three of The White Star Line
ships were remotely similar as they may have one upped each other as the previous
ship sunk. Harland and Wolff were a responsible shipbuilding company and these
three ships were amongst many that were built by them in their time. A very
fascinating detail about the sinkings would be that the stewardess, Miss Violet

The hull or the bottom structure of the ship weighed half of that amount of steel.
For being so large it was designed to only travel at the speed of 20 22 knots. On
June 14, 1911, The Olympic officially entered the ocean workforce being the ninth
out of fourteen four shacked ocean liners ever to be built, her maiden voyage was
made a few days later to New York in exactly 5 days, 16 hours, and 42 minutes
traveling on average 21.7 knots. However it was launched into viewing before the
sailing on the same day as the Titanic s maiden voyage beginning May 31,1911. As
this cruise liners was pulling out of the port, The Titanic for the first time was
revealed as was her date of sailing the following year as it still had some
adjustments to be made. On this maiden voyage it was taken under consideration
for The White Star Lines next cruise liner the Titanic that the Promenade deck have
added more rooms as there is too much space on this deck and that the passengers
wouldn t be the only ones to occupy the spacing. It was Bruce Ismay who made the
order to fix spacing issues that were solved to only hold more people than just
letting the space be wasted. An interesting fact about this ship is that in many of the
books that show the Titanic are not really pictures of the Titanic because it really
didn t get that much paparazzi and that she never came back from the maiden voyage,
the books usually showed
Wealth In The Middle Ages Summary
1. What did Christians believe about wealth in the Middle Ages and how did this
belief shape Christian attitudes towards Jews emigrating to the Kingdom of Poland in
the 1220s?
The Medieval Polish state and society were the same as whatever remains of Europe
when it came to trusting that wealth was limited and that land, gold and silver were
the most legitimate markers of wealth. Poland rose as a stronger state in the late
Middle Ages. Ruler Boleslaw, the pioneer of Poland in the second half of the
thirteenth century, urge Jewish families to settle in his nation.
2. Why did Prince Boleslaw want Jews to emigrate to his kingdom and how did the
charter her offered in 1264 compare to the ones given for centuries in Western Europe
They perceive that numerous Jewish craftsmans and traders knew how to do things
their subjects did not. They realized that numerous Jewish vendors knew how to
explore preferable ashore and overseas Christians, all through Europe, as well as
crosswise over North Africa and eastbound along the Silk Road into India and China.
They additionally trusted that Jews would know how to work with more noteworthy
monetary achievement other financial exercises, specifically, the mining of salt, a

The kehillot was an establishment of self government that even spread to Jewish
people group to other East European urban areas. The kehillah were theocracies in
light of riches. They spoke to Jewish people group when managing outside experts.
They kept peace and dealt with the upkeep of the shtetls in the farmland or the Jewish
quarters in urban areas. They supervised training, religious perceptions, wellbeing
administrations (even healing facilities!) and social welfare. They additionally

Who Was Responsible For The Triangle Fire
The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire happened on March 25, 1911. The Triangle Fire is
remembered as one of the most tragic workplace incidents in the history of
Industrial America. This tragic fire killed 146 female factory workers, some as
young as age 15. During this time there was many problems with sweatshops and
unsafe working conditions, this fire proved those problems to be true. The
Triangle Shirtwaist Company was owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris. The
company was started by Blanck and Harris in 1900. Their company occupied the
top three floors (8,9,10) of the Asch Building in Manhattan. Each floor of their
company had hundreds of girls at sewing machines, the floors were very
overcrowded. Many of the girls that worked at this company were... Show more

The building had four elevators to reach the factory floors, however, in 1911 only
one of those four elevators were functional, workers also had to file down a long
narrow hallway to reach it. In addition to those elevators there were two stairways
down. One of those stairways was unlocked. The other stairway down was locked
from the outside. The building also had a fire escape, but it was very narrow and
couldn t get that many people down it fast enough. With what happened on the
Triangle Fire of 1911, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris should be blamed for the tragic
aftermath and so many women dead with the fire. Their punishment for 146
females dying was very inadequate. Seeming how they did not take the proper
safety precautions and their factory was not up to city codes. Blanck and Harris did
not get charged of manslaughter or anything for the 146 females dying in this fire,
though they definitely should have. There had been strikes in years before about
better working conditions and more safe precautions in the factory. One reporter that
was an eyewitness to the fire said, I remembered their great strike of last year, in
which these girls demanded more sanitary workrooms, and more safety precautions in
the shops. These dead bodies told the results. 1 The workers wanted safer conditions
the year before, so much so that they went on strike. Nothing changed through this
strike and the worst thing happened, the unsafe conditions killed 146
Should the 22nd Amendment Be Repealed
In the political world today there are so many different opinions about several
different topics. The topics that I will address to you will be, should the 22nd
Amendment be repealed and also should the foreign born be allowed to run for
president. In both topics you may have your pros and cons, but I am strongly against
the both of them because I feel that the Constitution should not be taken advantage of.
Government should not be allowed to manipulate the Constitution to suit his or her
needs. While making adjustments to the Constitution to allow different things to take
place for convenience doesn t leave any form respect of the Constitution. There
should be a line drawn to keep this from happening for years to come on these issues

Republicans are pushing for Schwarzenegger to be the one who put this statement to
an end reach reads: Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution. It reads, No
person except a natural born citizen ... shall be eligible to the office of president
(CNN News, 2004). Schwarzenegger s supporters are pushing for a constitutional
amendment that would allow the Austrian born governor to run for president while
others are against this change, (USA Today, 2005). These issues and other issues are
just a test to see if the American people will allow such changes to take place without
having input on it. In addition, it could become a test of American attitudes toward
immigrants in the post 9/11 era, and also put some more thought into the topic of
interest. I am totally against it because I am employed by the Immigration service and
changes to the Constitution would allow room for disasters to our country. Although,
there are some immigrants that are here to make a difference, there are still others
who will not remain loyal to our country and follow our guidelines of making our
country a safe and better place to live. http://www.termlimits.org/Current_Info/22nd

Art Critique Essay. Sample Of Art Criticism Essay : What is Visual Analysis?

  • 1. Art Critique Essay Writing an essay on this particular topic can be quite challenging due to the subjective nature of art and the diverse interpretations it can evoke. Crafting a comprehensive critique requires not only a deep understanding of various artistic techniques and styles but also the ability to articulate personal opinions and analyses in a coherent and persuasive manner. One of the difficulties lies in striking a balance between objective observations and subjective impressions. While it's essential to provide factual information about the artwork, such as its historical context, artist's background, and formal elements, it's equally crucial to express one's subjective responses, opinions, and interpretations. This requires a nuanced understanding of art theory and criticism, as well as the development of critical thinking skills to evaluate the artwork's effectiveness in conveying its intended message or eliciting certain emotions. Furthermore, conducting research for an art critique essay can be challenging, especially when dealing with lesser-known or contemporary artworks that may not have extensive scholarly analysis available. This necessitates thorough investigation into the artist's intentions, influences, and the broader cultural or social context in which the artwork was created. Moreover, the process of writing an art critique essay involves careful observation and analysis of visual elements such as composition, color, line, texture, and form, as well as conceptual elements such as symbolism, metaphor, and thematic content. Articulating these observations in a clear and concise manner while providing meaningful insights into the artwork's significance can be daunting. Additionally, grappling with the ambiguity and subjectivity inherent in art can pose a challenge when formulating arguments and conclusions. Different viewers may perceive and interpret the same artwork in vastly different ways, making it essential for the essay writer to acknowledge and address alternative viewpoints while substantiating their own interpretations with evidence and reasoned analysis. In conclusion, writing an essay on this topic requires a combination of artistic sensitivity, analytical rigor, research skills, and persuasive writing ability. It demands a deep engagement with the artwork in question, as well as an understanding of the broader cultural and critical discourses surrounding it. Despite its challenges, engaging in the process of art critique can be intellectually rewarding, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of visual culture. A Cloud Provider ABSTRACT Setting basic information in the hands of a cloud supplier ought to accompany the assurance of security and accessibility for information very still, in movement, and being used. A few choices exist for capacity administrations, while information secrecy answers for the database as an administration standard are still youthful. We propose a novel construction modeling that coordinates cloud database administrations with information secrecy and the likelihood of executing simultaneous operations on scrambled information. This is th first arrangement supporting geologically disseminated customers to join straightforwardly to a scrambled cloud database, and to execute simultaneous and autonomous operations including those adjusting the database structure. The proposed building design has the further favorable position of wiping out middle of the road intermediaries that cutoff the versatility, accessibility, and adaptability properties that are inborn in cloud based arrangements. The viability of the proposed construction modeling is assessed through hypothetical examinations and broad test results in view of a model usage subject to the TPC C standard benchmark for diverse quantities of customers and system latencies. • 4. Assimilation During Immigrants mmigration is a subject that everyone is talking about. Specifically, assimilation during immigration. Should people keep their culture or assimilate into society? In all fairness to both sides of this argument, assimilation is necessary for everyday life to run smoothly for all americans, not just the immigrants. This is because immigrants will usually not adhere to our food, religion, or language at first. They then accept that adapting is the only way to survive. The reasoning behind assimilation is fairly simple. While one could attempt to blend their cultureand ours, if only given the option of one, there is no question. Hardly anyone can function in a society without adapting to their environment, which boils down to the very most basic

  • 7. Carol Rogers Influence in Psychology Carl Rogers and His Influence on Modern Psychology Introduction Carl Rogers is considered the founder of client centered therapy, which asserts that childhood experiences affect an individual s feelings, thoughts, and behavior (Rathus, 2004). The therapist must see the world from that of the client to be effective in treatment. Rogers has influenced many psychological theories and therapies present today, especially positive psychology. Despite this fact, many who practice positive psychology do not, or are not willing to, accept the influence of past theories. Client Centered Therapy In 1959, Rogers asserted that the therapeutic relationship is used differently with different clients and it is not necessary to manipulate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of therapy began to be misused and negative emotion, that may play a beneficial role in therapy, was ignored completely. In fact, pessimism can even become an important strategy to deal with anxiety. Individuals can use negative thinking as a defensive strategy to work through their anxiety with the result being just as effective as those who take an optimistic approach (Chang Norem, 2002; as cited in La Torre, p. 153). In a true clinical setting, a patient is free to express feelings and experiences to facilitate self healing through positive intervention techniques. With the data available on positive psychology, many clinicians may be tempted to utilize a particular positive intervention with the belief it will make a tremendous impact on the patient. However, this may be unhealthy for the patient who may need to experience negative or difficult emotion to work through the issue they are dealing with. Nonetheless, positive therapy has a definitive useful role in psychological treatment and adds a deeper dimension to the treatment setting (p. 404). Therapists who use this type of therapy, however, should remember not to become a slave to the tyrannies of optimism (Seligman, 1990, p. 292; as cited in La Torre, p. 404). Carl Rogers and Positive Psychology Many of Carl Rogers s ideas have been influential on modern psychological practices, and specifically in the area of positive psychology. These emotions are clear in Gregory Maguire s famous novel, Wicked, which was published in 1995 and takes place in the Land of Oz. This novel is one of Maguire s bestselling books and in 2003 they decided to turn it into a musical and to this day it still gets performed to this day. Now Wickedis based on Oz therefor in the book there are many things that tie together the two books. Wicked is supposed to be a better version of The Wizard of Oz. Elphaba also becomes very jealous of Glinda and that is a start to another conflict between the two of them. Then end up turning against each other and they are enemies. Good vs. Evil would be another popular theme in the book and it can go along with the first one pretty well because it s about the same characters. The good witch brings out the evil in the wicked witch. Now when you really think about this theme you have to realize that this whole book basically says everyone is evil. But you have to purposely want to be evil you can t just accidentally do that. When it comes to goodness you have to practice that over time it doesn t just come naturally. If Elphaba actually practiced being nice she would ve had more friends by the end and less enemies. But it was the other way around and that is fine but by the end of the book she wasn t alive. No one could put up with how she treated others and people could see that she wasn t going to change no matter if they thought she would. The most significant change is that a recent argument caused Candace to resign her position and move back home to San Antonio, Tx. Mario remains in Washington, and continues his weekly therapy sessions. Despite this considerable change, Mario was able to self regulate and continue to decrease his drinking and other negative coping habits. One practice that was employed after the split was Problem Solving Therapy. This evidence based intervention was utilized to help him prioritize his goals and make steps towards accomplishing them. His main goals included decreasing his depressive behaviors, decreasing his drinking behaviors, and finding a trade or educational program to further his skills in a craft related field. While his behavior was never perfect nor was it expected to be over the course of four weeks he was successful in all of his goals. During this time he had what he considered slip ups, but was able to learn and grow from them in a meaningful way. Following through with his action plans allowed him to feel empowered in changing his life on his own. Furthermore, it helped him to regain control over his mood. Because Mario worked hard in improving his situation, his relationship with Candace improved. They are currently on speaking terms, and considering the possibility of moving forward with their future together.

Many cognitive theorists believe that without thought processes, we might have no emotions, no behavior and no feelings and therefore we would not function. So, we can say that thoughts always come before any feeling and before any action. By changing thoughts, we can change our mood, improve our relationships, decrease our anxiety and so on. The equation for the center of mass in the x direction is xcm=(Mx1+ mx2)/(M+m) where M is the mass of the leader, m is the mass of the follower, x1 is the position of the leader,and x2 is the position of the follower. Turn The turn starts off with the follower and the leader side by side and hands crossed. The leader pulls the follower so that she is facing him. Let us find the amount of work done by the system when defining the dancers as particles. The diameter will be defined as the length from the outer edge of one dancer to the outer edge of the other dancer. M will stand for the leader s mass and m will be used for the follower s mass. w will be the angular velocity, I will be the moment of inertia, and r is radius. To find the work you must subtract the intial kinetic energyfrom the final kinetic energy. The equation for rotational kinetic energy is: Iw2. The equation for the moment of inertia for particles is: (M+m)r2 So calculating this gives you:{[(M+m)final radius2]final w2}

The case study addresses what some applicants are willing to do in order to obtain the job being pursued or to get ahead. A few applicants are willing to change or misrepresent a small fact on their application or resume (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Some alterations are to conceal information that is protected by law such as date of birth (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Other times the alterations are made to make an applicant appear more qualified in order to obtain a job being sought (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Reasoning for the alterations aside, misrepresentations on resumes by applicants happens about 30% of the time (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). This limit is called the carrying capacity. Carrying capacity is the number of people, animals and crops that a region can support without environmental degradation. The way things are now, the human population is going to break through its carrying capacity very soon. Exceeding the carrying capacity means that the number of humans roaming the earth is greater than the number of humans the food supply can hold. Therefore, the only way to avoid a future battle for food is by reducing the birth rate of newborns in families across the globe. There is three ways that can prove effective against our growing population. 1.Laws: One way for a country or other ruling authoritative body to control population growth is to institute laws that prohibit high fertility. 2.Contraception: Another important way to limit population growth is to increase the rate of contraception among the population. 3.Economics: When the cost of having a child is extremely high, it deters parents from having more than a couple of kids. Everyone have their own opinion on which of these methods would work best in keeping our population under check. However, I believe that even though that all of these methods can prohibit high fertility, only through contraception and education the population will stay under control for the longest time. According to the

Movie piracy, once reserved to pirate syndicates and illegal duplication factories, has become a common staple among college students with high speed internet access. With advanced compression technology, movie files can be transferred across continents in hours and across campus networks in under ten minutes. File sharing is seen as a victimless crime, but the motion picture industry is expected to lose $3.5 billion this year alone due to piracy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This carefully planned release of the film to different markets is known as distribution windows, and is essential to the survival of the film industry. If a film is pirated at any point, the worth of that film can be fatally depleted long before it can retrieve its initial investment. Film Releases There are generally two critical points in a film s distribution window where it can be pirated: in theatres, and retail DVDs. The most important release for a film is its theatrical release. A movie can earn back close to half of its budget in its opening weekend. However, the film can be pirated in two ways. Pirates can use hand held video cameras to record films off of theater screens and then copy these films onto other medias. Another method of piracy involves the theft of the film print from a theater. This type of theft allows the pirate to make a relatively high quality copy from the theatrical print, which then serves as the master for the duplication of unauthorized copies. These illicit copies are not only distributed to pirates in the US, but also shipped overseas and distributed through illegal channels even before the film s international theatrical release, cannibalizing a film s opening weekend returns. These copies are usually encoded and transferred over the Internet as well as through peer to peer networks. The second critical point is copies from retail DVDs. Before DVDs are sold to the public, production facilities churn out a

The Critical Thinking Assignment For Module One CT #1 Option #2: Sets #2 The Critical Thinking assignment for Module One, Option Two, is a series of five questions pertaining to Set Theory and Venn diagrams. In short, Set Theory is the notion in which items (e.g., numbers, colors, people), referred to in mathematics as elements can be grouped into sets in order to organize and understand elements (Jech, 1971). In relation, Venn diagrams are circular illustrations utilized to visually express relationships between sets (GrГјnbaum, 1975). It is imperative to understand the relation between sets and Venn diagrams in order to fully comprehend Set Theory. Problem Number One Accompanied by a detailed Venn diagram, question number one prompts Which region represents (B ∩ C)∩A ? . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b, c}, B= {c, d, e, f} Find A B . There are three necessary steps to solve. First, one must find the complement of A, A = {d, e, f, g}. Next, one must solve for the complement of B, B = {a, b, g}. Now, the problem solver has the critical information to solve for the difference (A = {d, e, f, g}) (B = {a, b, g}). Finally, one can deduce A B = {d, e, f}. Problem Number Four Similarly to problem number one, problem number four returns to the use of a Venn diagram to solve the problem. However, this time there is an additional complement within the brackets. Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b, c, f}, B= {c, d}, C= {a, d, e, f, g}, find ( B∩C)∩A . Step one, fill out a three circle Venn diagram including all sets, U, A, B, C. Next, find the complement of B, B = {a, b, e, f, g}. Then, find the intersection of B and C, ( B∩C) = {a, d, e, f, g}. Next, one must solve for A , A = {e,g} Lastly, solve for pug in setvalues and solve, {a, d, e, f, g} ∩ {e, g} = {e. g}. Therefore, one can now resolve, ( B∩C)∩A = {e, g}. Problem Number Five Lastly, problem number five again addresses complements. The equation is as follows, U= {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18,...}, A= {6, 8, 10} Find A . Remembering the complement is the set of elements of U that are not elements of A, one must solve for A . Therefore, one

It was created in 2013 with the purpose of effectively spreading the convincing message that bullying is a real and serious thing that is too often dismissed as normal and not acted upon as the serious thing it is. 2013 was shortly after the new large push against bullying which is likely one large reason as to the creation and popularity of this work. However even with the anti bullying movement it would not have become popular if it was not in itself an effective piece at conveying its own point against bullying and contributing to the cause. Koyczan made his piece so successful by successfully using ethosand pathosto make hard hitting grounded points to his purpose. He also used small amounts of logos but it was not a majorly effective part of his piece. Ethos is the way the writer creates a persona that allows the audienceto see them as trustworthy, relatable, knowledgeable, and as someone with authority. Then uses these to convince an audience of their point. This is use of ethos effectively done in the creation of koyczan s poem to this day . He shows his reliability and knowledge to the viewer by showing them that he has personal experience with the main topic. He tells the story of his pain when he was bullied and how simple name calling left lasting effects on him personally. This not only lets the viewer see that he has a reliable viewpoint, it shows that he has

With the tragic society that Equality 7 2521 survives in, it not only proclaims the major conflicts in the story, but also passes along Ayn Rand s writing on how it contributes to expressing the conflicts even further. The prime conflict is individualism itself in a world that doesn t follow the philosophy of one s attributions to be upheld. It doesn t exist because of a society that sways the course of people s lives, coming in the way to maintain an atmosphere with no higher power than another. We are one in all and all in one. • 24. Tactics In The Civil War Essay Tactics in the Civil War were influenced by a few factors. Most notably is the contribution made by the spy network. They helped the northern generals formulate tactics to counter the south, prevented the south from making counterattacks, and also changed the progression of the war. The spy network laid the groundwork for some of the tactics used. Allan Pinkerton would only work for George B. McClellan and would go on various scouting missions for information. Pinkerton made an agency for spies and recruited Pryce Lewis. In 1861, Lewis was chosen to go scout enemy troops in West Virginia and did so with great accuracy. McClellan ordered Lewis to go to General Cox and give him the information. Cox wasted no time in exploiting the new intelligence. ... While Webster was in the south he found out some of the locations, names, and roles of agents in the north and had them arrested. Allergic rhinitis (AR) is an inflammatory condition which affects the membrane lining of the nose; causing it to become sensitive to allergens such as pollen, dust and animal dander. During AR, antigens bind with immunoglobulin E(IgE) to form an antigen antibody complex which then attach themselves to the surface of nasal mast cells; inducing a cascade of cellular events leading to mast cell degranulation and the release of histamine via exocytosis. The release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators on blood vessel and nerve endings results in the symptoms of AR such as sneezing, itching and nasal discharge (rhinorrhoea). AR which occurs the same time every year is known as seasonal AR or more commonly known as hay fever . Avoiding causative allergens is essential in the management of the symptoms of AR; however, drug treatment is used to alleviate and control its symptoms. This evaluation will focus on the use of H1 anti histamines, corticosteroids and IgE therapy in the treatment and management of seasonal AR. • 34. The Importance Of Voter Voting In The United States Despite popular opinion that the United States is the greatest democracy in the world, we have shockingly low voter turnout compared to international standards (Desilver). A complicated registration process and strict restrictions on voting consistently discourage and inhibit Americans from exercising their right to vote. Despite this, lawmakers continue to push for and often pass unnecessary legislation limiting the ways in which citizens can register and cast their ballot. Certain demographics are the most likely to be hindered by this kind of legislation, including young people, poor people, and people of color. Politicians often use claims of voter fraud as an excuse to systematically hinder these marginalized groups from participating in the democratic process, despite being unable to back up those claims with any kind of concrete evidence. The limiting of votingrights for young and minority populations is often blatantly politically motivated. Continuing to pile restrictions and obstacles onto our electoral process is not only unnecessary, it is contradictory to democratic values. There should be a shift in the focus of voting legislation towards expanding the ways in which citizens can participate in elections and away from limiting them, which would both increase voter turnoutand ensure that all people have an equal voice in our government. Voter registration legislation being used as a tactic to disenfranchise minority voters has a long history in United States

Critical Angle And Total Internal Reflection Critical Angle Total Internal Reflection Kate Graham Partner: Samantha Dekart Monday, November 9, 2015 SNC2D Ms. Vink Purpose: See attached sheet, labelled SNC2D Lab Sheet . Related Theory: Law of Reflection: Reflection and refraction are common properties of light. When a ray of light comes into contact with the surface of some material, part of the ray is reflected and part of it is absorbed. In other words, reflection occurs when an incident ray hits a reflective surface and bounces off. The law of reflection states that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence (always in respect to the normal) and that the incident ray, the normal line and the reflected ray are all located in the same plane. Snell s Law of Refraction: When a ray of light reaches a boundary between two transparent mediums, reflection and refraction occur. Refraction takes place when rays of light bend across the boundary into the second medium which causes a change in the light s velocity. The denser the medium, the slower the light. Total Internal Reflection: Internal reflection refers to light travelling from a higher index medium to a lower index medium, which causes the ray to bend away from the normal, so the exit angle is greater than the incident angle. As the angle of incidence increases, so does the angle of refraction. Total internal reflection takes place when the angle of incidence is greater than the

But unlike the music industry and the American film industry (Mezias Mezias, 2000), there is not a diachronic dialectic between small firms and large firms in the stand up comedy industry. According to the resource partitioning theory, a theory conceptualized by Caroll in 1985, this dialectic exists when the big firms are competing with each other. If someone stands up for what is right and everyone else disagrees with them there may be some serious consequences. In The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, Tessie Hutchinson spoke against their tradition, nobody would listen to her but she still spoke against it. She tried and tried, no matter how difficult it was, to get into the townspeople s mind that they should not be doing what they are doing, that it is wrong. Some people are not as brave as Tessie Hutchinson, Martin Niemoller, for example, had the chance to speak up against the Nazi, he had the chance to speak for what is right, instead he kept silent in First they came . It is hard standing up for what is right, especially when you do not know what the consequences are, whether you ll get hurt or teased or whether somebody else will. In detail, The Lottery is about standing up for what is right is not always the easiest path. For example, Some places have already quit lotteries Mrs. Adams said. Another quote that goes along with that is, Nothing but trouble in that, Old Man Warner said stoutly. Pack of young fools. (paragraph 33 34). The reason why this relates to the text because this is the time that Tessie Hutchinson could have stood up and told everyone that it is not right to have this lottery, instead she kept quiet because she knew it was not going to be easy standing up to the whole town and saying that what they are doing is not right. She could have stood up more than she did, instead she chose to wait until it was her who won the lottery. Another example to support the theme is, Tessie Hutchinson shouted to Mr. Summers, You didn t give him time enough to take any paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! (paragraph 45), another quote that goes along with it is, Be a good sport Tessie, Mrs. Delacroix called, and Mrs. Graves said, All of us took the same chance. (paragraph 46). The reason why these two pieces of evidence supports the theme, standing up for what s right may not always be the easiest path, is by showing that Tessie does stand up. Maybe she is not standing up for the fact that
  • 42. Competitive Interactions between Apis and Bombus Essay The invasive European honeybees create a competitive environment for the native bumblebee as their ecological niches (species total use of abiotic and biotic resources) overlap; thus, creating a niche differentiation (the increase in species using resources causes a wider range of resources being used) between the two species. The invasive and native bees exemplify a symbiotic relationship in which interaction could possibly be detrimental to both species competition (an interaction in which species use the same resources). Moreover, the invasive European honeybee (Apis mellifera) decreases the population of the native bumblebee(Bombus occidentalis) in northern California by creating a niche overlap and competition for available... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it is difficult to directly exemplify the impact of invasive European honeybees on native bumblebees through floral resources, many studies prove there is an indirect relationship between the species concerning overlapping of their ecological niche (Thomson 2004). Diane Thomson conducted an experiment measuring the impacts of the invasive honeybee on the native bumblebee through competition for nectar and pollen resources. Each summer from 1998 through 2000, two to three Apis colonies (each consisting of 10,000 15,000 workers) were introduced into three sites from early June to early September (Thomson 2004). Each Apis colony was placed 2 km apart. For the native bumblebees, B. occidentalis colonies were located at 10 m, 500 m, and 1000 m away from each site. Since there are three distances, and three different sites, there were nine B. occidentalis colonies in total. The B. occidentalis species was placed in the same location every year; however, the distance treatment was altered (Thomson 2004). To reduce the factors that may alter the results, laboratory reared colonies were used to minimize any differences in the Bombus colonies and weighed to keep the amount consistent (Thomson 2004). Overall, Thomson s experiment exemplified the direct effects of the invasive Apis species on reproductive success and foraging activity of the native Bombus. Observations showed Apis foragers declined with distances in flower patches (Thomson 2004). Simply,

  • 45. Who Was Responsible For The Triangle Fire The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire happened on March 25, 1911. The Triangle Fire is remembered as one of the most tragic workplace incidents in the history of Industrial America. This tragic fire killed 146 female factory workers, some as young as age 15. During this time there was many problems with sweatshops and unsafe working conditions, this fire proved those problems to be true. The Triangle Shirtwaist Company was owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris. The company was started by Blanck and Harris in 1900. The building had four elevators to reach the factory floors, however, in 1911 only one of those four elevators were functional, workers also had to file down a long narrow hallway to reach it. In addition to those elevators there were two stairways down. One of those stairways was unlocked. The other stairway down was locked from the outside. The building also had a fire escape, but it was very narrow and couldn t get that many people down it fast enough. With what happened on the Triangle Fire of 1911, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris should be blamed for the tragic aftermath and so many women dead with the fire. Their punishment for 146 females dying was very inadequate. Seeming how they did not take the proper safety precautions and their factory was not up to city codes. Blanck and Harris did not get charged of manslaughter or anything for the 146 females dying in this fire, though they definitely should have. There had been strikes in years before about better working conditions and more safe precautions in the factory. One reporter that was an eyewitness to the fire said, I remembered their great strike of last year, in which these girls demanded more sanitary workrooms, and more safety precautions in the shops. These dead bodies told the results. 1 The workers wanted safer conditions the year before, so much so that they went on strike. Nothing changed through this strike and the worst thing happened, the unsafe conditions killed 146

The topics that I will address to you will be, should the 22nd Amendment be repealed and also should the foreign born be allowed to run for president. In both topics you may have your pros and cons, but I am strongly against the both of them because I feel that the Constitution should not be taken advantage of. Government should not be allowed to manipulate the Constitution to suit his or her needs. While making adjustments to the Constitution to allow different things to take place for convenience doesn t leave any form respect of the Constitution. Schwarzenegger s supporters are pushing for a constitutional amendment that would allow the Austrian born governor to run for president while others are against this change, (USA Today, 2005). These issues and other issues are just a test to see if the American people will allow such changes to take place without having input on it. In addition, it could become a test of American attitudes toward immigrants in the post 9/11 era, and also put some more thought into the topic of interest. I am totally against it because I am employed by the Immigration service and changes to the Constitution would allow room for disasters to our country. Although, there are some immigrants that are here to make a difference, there are still others who will not remain loyal to our country and follow our guidelines of making our country a safe and better place to live. http://www.termlimits.org/Current_Info/22nd Amendment text.html
