Essays On Beowulf
Crafting an essay on the subject of Beowulf can be both a challenging and enriching endeavor.
This ancient epic poem, with its intricate language, historical context, and complex characters,
poses a set of hurdles for any writer aiming to delve into its depths.
Firstly, understanding the nuances of Old English, in which Beowulf was originally composed,
requires a dedicated effort. The archaic language and syntax can be intimidating, demanding
meticulous research to ensure accurate interpretation and translation. Furthermore,
comprehending the cultural and historical context of the poem is vital for providing a nuanced
analysis.
Analyzing the characters within Beowulf adds another layer of difficulty. From the valiant hero
to the monstrous foes, each figure is laden with symbolism and meaning. Unraveling these layers
and presenting a coherent interpretation can be a formidable task, demanding a profound
understanding of both literature and cultural anthropology.
The structure of the essay itself also requires careful consideration. Balancing a historical
analysis, character exploration, and thematic discussion while maintaining a cohesive narrative is
no easy feat. The essay must not only showcase a deep understanding of Beowulf but also
present a compelling argument that engages the reader.
However, amidst these challenges lies the opportunity for intellectual growth and exploration.
Writing an essay on Beowulf provides a chance to appreciate the literary richness of this epic,
exploring themes of heroism, loyalty, and the eternal struggle between good and evil.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on Beowulf is no simple task. It demands linguistic prowess,
historical insight, and literary acumen. Yet, the journey of unraveling the layers of this ancient
masterpiece can be immensely rewarding for those who undertake it.

Book Publishing in 2010 Essay
Summary
This paper is about Book publishing industry in the USA. Main analysis are done
using Porter s five forces analysis. First analysis is on industry before e books while
indentifying main levels of threats for industry from existing rivalry, new entrants,
bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of suppliers and substitutions. Also,
same research is being conducted for industry after ebooks emerged. Next part is
looking to the future of industry and identifying main opportunities and threats
looking forward. Finally paper is concluded with suggestions for suppliers how to
sustain their business.

Bargaining power of suppliers High for Manuscripts of popular authors/ Low for
material
Production: Two of major costs for publishers ware paper and printing. Both paper
and printing services were easily accessible and publisher could easily switch from
one supplier to another.
As a result, bargaining power of suppliers was low. In addition, in terms of printing,
publishers could choose either to outsource printing or to build their own printing
facilities, which put even more pressure on suppliers.
Manuscripts: Bestselling authors had a strong bargaining power; publishing houses
even went to auctions to buy new manuscripts. Meanwhile, new and unknown authors
had low bargaining power. For them it was important to get on the book store shelves.
Industry after advent of e books
Threat of new entrants Increased.
Internet and e books lowered barrier to enter. There are more and easier ways how
publishers can reach consumers. People have electronic devices everywhere (phones,
tablets and etc.) and small companies can reach bigger audience much easier.
Rivalry Among Existing Competitors Decreased
E books and online publishing had a significant impact on industry. Some companies
failed to keep up with technological advancement and had to run out of business.
Industry became less concentrated with fewer but stronger publishers.
Threat of substitute products or services Increased

Maximal Oxygen Uptake And Vo2max Is The Highest Rate
At...
Maximal oxygen uptake or Vo2max is the highest rate at which the oxygen can be
taken up and utilized by the body during severe exercise (Bassett Howley, 2000).
Vo2max is wide ly used both in sports and clinical practice and its measurement
allows us to assess cardi orespiratory fitness, one of the most powerful markers of
health (Mayorga Vega, Aguilar Soto Viciana 2015; Bruce, Kusumi Hosmer 1973).
Vo2max also provides essential di agnostic and prognostic information for clinical
populations, such as patients with heart failure (Sartor, Vernillo, de Morree, et al.,
2013). The most precise method for the assessment of maximal oxygen
consumption is the direct measurement which is considered the gold standard
(Noonan Dean, 2000). However, the use of this method is limited in several
settings such as in sports clubs, schools, or in large scale research studies
(Pescatello American College of Sports Medicine, 2014) because it requires
appropriate and expensive equipment, supervision by trained personnel and a max
imal level of exertion which cannot be achieved by all the individuals and
especially those who may be limited by pain, fatigue, abnormal gait, impaired
balance or those with cardio vascular problems(Evans, Ferrar, Smith, et al., 2015). As
a consequence, many indirect tests have been developed for use in sports, clinical
and home settings but there are sundry fac tors which must be considered when we
select one of them. Such factors are the population that we
The Last Boss Of New York
The Last Boss of New York It was beautiful day with a slight breeze that cooled you
each time it passed. My father, Tony Di Marco and I, were taking a stroll around
the gardens of our family s compound in Staten Island, in New York City. My father
wearing his usual black tuxedo dinner jacket with the buttons open and
BoutonniГЁre with a red rose, underneath was his black waistcoat with the button
closed, underneath that was his white Shirt and topped off with a black bow tie. His
hair was combed back as far as possible it was short and coloured black with sort off
grey streaks which showed his age. He was built like a house, with his broad
shoulders, his body was big and powerful looking but no wonder because after all
he did like the rich food and always had a glass of wine to wash it down. Facially
the feature most remembered after first glance was his cheeks, they sagged down
to about his jaw line, this made his accent powerful as every time he spoke it
sounded like he was questioning what you had said. He had a moustache and it
was the length of his top lip, it was as if it was somebody s eyebrow it was that thin.
He walked with grace and power as if he was untouchable. We walked to the gates
and decide to take the stroll further. He told the security guard who was manning
the gates to Open the gates he then slipped the guard a $20 dollars. I loved the way
he did this as it was a sign of power and respect. We walked for a while talking about

The Importance Of Loneliness And Social Connection In...
Riding horseback, lounging in a carriage, travelling by train turned metro, through
all these years of industrial innovation humanity has needed social interaction. These
social interactions have gone from intimate gatherings, to newspapers, to social
networking, and people made advancements in ways to gather information faster
and in turn dealt away their social presence. Today, young adults throw themselves
into an alternate reality which many use to protect them from loneliness while it
drags others into remote depths. Imagine looking around during your day and at
any point you see no one. Not that no person is there, but nobody you can talk to.
The vice like grip inside you that strengthens with each passing body creates an
ache too strong to suppress. Much like a black hole that pulls you into nothingness.
Human connection is a valuable thing and helps keep a stable piece of mind.
Loneliness is that lack of human connection. This issue is important because of its
relation to the rising suicide rate. According to research presented at the 125th
Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association Loneliness and
social isolation might represent a greater public health hazard than obesity, and its
impact has been growing and will continue to grow. Being lonely is the start of a
downhill spiral and the effect of social interaction and rise of loneliness results in
suicides to escape enormous pain. The use of social networking has become an
escape from the

Harvest the flowers and stems from May through July. Use chickweed fresh, dried
or frozen. Have fresh juice during the winter by freezing leaf juice into ice cubes in
stainless steel trays. Gardening tip: When planting, give chickweed some room to
spread out or grow vertically on a trellis.
Benefits Of Chickweed
Internal: Chickweed cleanses the kidneys and urinary tract. Like dandelions,
chickweed has the unique ability to remove fluids from the body without depleting
potassium levels like pharmaceuticals. Chickweed juice can help prevent leaky gut
by coating the stomach and digestive tract. I like to use a combination of chickweed
and marshmallow to lubricate the entire digestive system and repair any leaky gut
damage. External: When used regularly, chickweed salve relieves inflammation, stiff
joints and shrinks lipomas. Rinsing your dog s coat in chickweed will remove dry
skin and dandruff.
Nutritional: Vitamin A, D, B complex, and C. Flavonoids, iron, calcium, potassium,
phosphorus, zinc, manganese, copper, niacin, riboflavin, selenium, silica, and

Themes in White Noise by Don DeLillo Essay
White Noise
The world...is crowded, not necessarily with occupants and not at all with memorable
experiences, but with happenings; it is a ceaseless flow of seductive trivialities
which invoke neither reflection, nor choice but instant participation. (Oakeshott) The
idea of the lacking of realness is one of the major themes carried out throughout the
novel White Noise by Don DeLillo, especially through the device of the television.
For most people there are only two places in the world. Where they live and their
TV set. If a thing happens on television, we have every right to find it fascinating,
whatever it is. (DeLillo 66) The television in the novel White Noise is portrayed

This theme of consumerism is one of the strongest driving forces in the novel, which
explains why the role of the television is so important. TV s commercial emergence
coincides with the golden age of Fordism. (McCarthy 2) The television thrives merely
on the ratings that bring about an enlarged group of commercial viewers, and the
more viewers, the more money is brought in through commercials and advertising.
Although many people believe that they themselves are not influenced by advertising,
no one can escape the brief moments of mind numbing product awareness being
drilled into their heads.
Even if these advertisements do not cause some people to immediately go out and
by the products, commercial images linger in their minds, leaving shadowforms
that shape perception and experience. (Yehnert 4) This idea is portrayed in White
Noise when Jack and Murray go visit the Most Photographed Barn in America.
(DeLillo 12 13) The image mediates everything, for the barn would be nothing
special at all without the advertised title of the most photographed . Knowing this
about the barn, viewing it becomes a new way of seeing and being . (Yehnert 4)
Murray seems to be one of the only characters in the book that truly realizes and
appreciates this phenomenon and points out that once you ve seen the advertisements
for the barn it becomes impossible to actually see the barn itself. These images

During 1989 1996 Liberia experienced one of the deadliest civil wars in history, the
first phase occurred during Samuel Doe regime. Liberia began with great hope and
support from most Liberians. However, the government quickly turned into an
oppressive military regime that destroyed the fragile economy. Doe explicitly
favored his own Krahn tribe from Grand Gedeh County, as well as the Mandingo, he
resisted almost all other ethnic groups, but particularly the Gio and Mano from
Nimba County, eventually leading to violent clashes between the military and ethnic
groups in this region. Besides, the violence he created between the military and

Improve Test Scores
Using Mobile Apps to Improve Test Scores
Many kids grow up hearing that staring at a screen is bad for you or that
technology and education don t combine well. In fact many teacher believe that
mobile devices have no positives: many faculty anecdotally report that the use of
mobile devices during class increases the students level of distraction, encourages a
shallow level of cognitive processing ... and/or causes disengagement, (48). A test
took place to see if it was true that apps and mobile devices have no benefits when it
comes to education. The use of technology, especially apps, was tested to see if

experimental group was required to use the same app that was downloaded on each
of their phones. (50). On the third day that the two groups met, each student was
given a post test to see their growth from the pre test.(50)
Results
The scores revealed a couple different things. First the pre test scores were
compared to ensure that both classes started at the same level. (50). The pre tests
were compared by each of the three sections: multiple choice, labeling and overall
scores.(50) Group one or the control group s starting score for labeling was 2.96
and group two or the app group s was 3.37. For Multiple choice the control group
had a 4.85, and the app group had a 4.53. For the overall scores, the control group
had a 7.82 and the app group had a 8.27. (50) The scores are not significantly
different from each other; therefore, it shows that the two groups started at an equal
level.
Next, all three sections of the post test for the app users was compared to their pre
test scores. (50) In the labeling section, the post test score was 5.84 which means it
increased significantly from the before score of 3.73. (50) The multiple choice
section also had a significant increase from 4.52 to a 5.64.(50) Because both
sections had a significant increase, so did the overall score. It went from 8.27 to
11.42. (50)
Paragraphs on THe Nemean Lion, Hydra, Ceryneia and...
1)THE NEMEAN LION
Heracles was commanded by Eurystheus to bring to him the hide of the Nemean
Lion. The lion had been terrorizing the valley of Nemea. The lion was a monstrous
offspring of Echidna and one of Orthus or Typhoeus, or had plunged from the moon
(Selene) to the earth.
Heracles used his bow and arrows to shoot the lion, but he noticed the arrows could
not penetrate its pelt. Thereby, he attacked it with his clubs causing the lion to run
into a cave that had two entrances. Hercules blocked one entrance, he then wrestled
with the lion and strangled it. Following this, he proceeded to skin it and wrapped
himself in its skin after offering a sacrifice to Zeus.
Hercules returned to Mycanae with the lion hung on his shoulder. ... Show more

After Heracles successfully chopping off the immortal head and blocking it he
dipped his arrows in its poisonous blood. Anyone wounded by these arrows would
die. Furthermore, he buried the monster s head in the road between Lerna and
Elaeus and placed a big rock over it.
Despite Heracles completing this labor, Eurystheus denied to give him credit due to
the fact that he was helped by Iolaus to accomplish the feat.
3)THE HIND OF CERYNEIA
On Heracles third labor he was ordered to capture the Cerynitian Hind alive. The
nymph Taygette had devoted the hind to the goddess Artemis, the hind lived in the
Sanctuary of Artemis on mount Cerynea.
The hind was a deer with golden antlers and brass hoofs roaming the hills of
Cerynea between Arcadia and Achaea in central Peloponnesus. Heracles had
expected to capture it unharmed because it was sacred. Heracles pursued the hind
for almost a year, when he finally managed to capture the animal on the river banks
of Ladon after chasing it as far as the land of Hyperboreans.
Heracles was returning to Tiryns with the deer on his shoulders. He then met Artemis
and Apollo. Artemis rebuked him but let him pass upon insistence that the blame
should be placed on Eurystheus. 4)THE ERYMANTHEAN BOAR
The fourth labor involved Heracles being ordered to capture the boar that lived on
Mount Erymanthus and was ruining the land of Psophis.
Heracles first chased the boar out of its

Holiday Inn has managed to retain these popular customers by giving them
something back as a return, which are the reward schemes, along with cheaper rates
and discounts, although reward schemes is the most popular way as it gives
customers the chance to make the most out of their stay. This is seen as a customer
focus which is being used by HI s competitors.
Although their target focus is on business guest, HI are still able to attract other
segment markets with their facilities and products they have. This is based on their
concepts which are production, sales and marketing.
Looking at the production concepts, they have taken into account the segmentation
market as a whole, which has leaded them to keeping costs at a reasonable price
just so it s affordable for their segment market. With the prices being reasonable but
not cheap, HI is able to use products which can offer better quality and performances.
This has given the hotel brand the advantage to not be classified as a low budget
hotel such as other high street hotels; Travel Lodge and Premier Inn, whereas these
hotels will not use quality as an essential.
Observing and measuring the segment markets
From looking at the behaviour variables for this hotel industry, in a consumer s
aspect, it holds a concentration on the middle market, although there are different
ranges of HI s who tailor to the segment markets that can afford the price of luxury

Macbeth Theme Essay
The play, Macbeth, Macbeth and his wife kill the king of Scotland so Macbeth can
become king. As a result, of the witches since they told him about the prophecy and
how he would become king. He eventually does more evil things which fills Lady
Macbeth with guilt. She ends up killing herself and Macbeth ends up dying. In the
play, there are numerous of themes that you can see and examples that you can find.
There are five themes that we have discussed in class which are ambition, guilt, things
are not what they seem, fate versus free will, and nature versus the unnatural.
One of the five themes in Macbeth that we discussed is ambition. I believe the
meaning of ambition is the desire to do something whether it is bad or good. In

The killing of his family is his motivation for him to kill Macbeth because he wants
to get revenge. Furthermore, ambition is desire of doing something that is good or
bad like revenge. Also, when Malcolm heard what happened to Macduff s family and
how Scotland has become after being ruled by Macbeth, it made him want to kill
Macbeth.
Another theme in Macbeth is guilt. I believe that guilt is feeling bad for
something that you have done to someone or something. In addition, guilt can
destroy you and/or eat at you. It could even drive you to do something like it did to
Macduff. Macduff went to England and left his family behind so that he could get
Malcolm to come back and be king. When he left to get Malcolm, Macbeth killed
his entire family. He felt guilty for living his family alone in Scotland without
protection. Similarly to ambition, his guilt drove him to kill Macbeth. Another
example of guilt is Lady Macbeth sleeping walking towards the end of the play.
Lady Macbeth and Macbeth killed the king of Scotland (Duncan) and she is
feeling guilty for what she has done. Also, she doesn t like what her husband has
done like killing Macduff s whole family. She feels as if she was responsible for
that. In a result of that she ends up sleep walking and eventually killing herself
because she couldn t live with the guilt anymore. The guilt of killing Duncan literally
ate at Lady Macbeth and destroyed her to the point of suicide. Macbeth feels guilty
for killing Duncan.
Essay On One Person Business
Managing a one person business: six considerations to make it work
When someone decides to take the plunge and set up their own business, often this
means they ll be working on their own for the first time. It can be scary and daunting,
but with determination they are likely to make it a success.
In this article, we ll examine six key areas and offer advice to help managing a one
person business that little bit easier...
Time is precious
When there is just one person in the business, it s very easy to get bogged down in
tasks that aren t the core business. In fact, inertia can easily set in and the owner
becomes swamped. The simplest route through this malaise is time management.

Critically, a good website allows a small business to punch above its weight during
that all important phase when a potential customer is weighing up its merits against
those of a potentially bigger, more established and well resourced rival.
Other digital considerations
A good digital presence doesn t just mean having a website. A savvy web user will
immediately look for social media accounts related to any new business as a way of
further legitimising the organisation they are interested in. Well run social accounts
will also bring a small business to the attention of more potential customers.
Beyond establishing digital destinations, a one person business can do itself the
world of good by having an email address that matches their web address and
business name. It just seems more professional than promoting a Gmail or Outlook
address.
Cashflow
Fluctuations are normal for the one person business but how do you stop this
becoming a full blown crisis when there is less coming in than going out? The
answer is to keep cash balances high and not to overspend or leave yourself juggling
payments.
Client focus can help here. Rather than the bigger payers, often the clients that pay
regularly and on time receive the best service. When time is limited, focusing on
clients that can bring you a reliable income can help you
Why Hazing Should Be Allowed In College
College life brings many thoughts to mindВ…friendships, football , pizza, late
nights, parties, fraternities, sororities, as well as racial discrimination, binge drinking,
hazing and dying. The latter part of this list may not come naturally to most people,
but they are frightening realities of the Greek system. Parents send their children to
college assuming they will be in a safe, educational environment while enjoying all
the benefits campus life has to offer, including fraternities and sororities. They do not
expect a phone call in the early hours of the morning notifying them of their child s
death. Since March of 2000, over 60 people have died in events associated with
fraternities, alcohol and/or hazing (Marklein p. A3).... Show more content on

A national survey of college students by Harvard researchers found that nearly half
of males and more than a third of females engage in binge drinking. Among Greek
students the numbers skyrocket: 86% of fraternity members and 80% of sorority
members living in chapter houses are likely to engage in binge drinking (Marklein).
The frequent focus fraternities and sororities place on alcohol encourages excessive
consumption, unfortunately causing the development of alcoholism and incidents of
alcohol poisoning. The term hazing is defined as any conduct or method of initiation
into any student organization, whether on public or private property, which willfully
or recklessly endangers the physical or mental health of any student or other person
(UMass). Whipping, beating, branding, forced calisthenics, exposure to the weather,
forced consumption of food, liquor, beverages, , brutal treatment, extended isolation,
sleep deprivation, and forced physical activities that adversely affect physical health
and safety are just some known acts of hazing that Greek members may force their
brothers and sisters to undergo. Imagine getting an update from your college student.
Your freshman son calls home, reporting he has just made the lacrosse team and is
excited to receive his fraternity pin the next day. The following morning the phone
rings, but it is not your beloved child. A policeman calls to inform you that your son

can do a backbend, handstand on the beam, and a kickover. Supplies will be
needed to teach people how to do a backwalkover on the beam while having form

the main items needed. However, a line strip and a soft, squishy, low beam will

Analysis Of Francois Truffaut And Alfred Hitchcock s
Film...
Anyone who is even vaguely aware with film usually has a favorite director. Why?
What distinguishes one director from another? A director is the person who
determines and realizes on the screen an artistic vision of the screenplay; casts the
actors and directs their performances; works closely with production design in
creating the look of the film...and in most cases, supervises all postproduction
activity, especially editing (Barsam and Monahan 496). Clearly, the director of a
film is lead visionary in how the film is made. But what makes some directors truly
memorable and instantly recognizable? Those directors take advantage of all
different kinds creative possibilities and signatures to become the true author of the
film, also known... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alfred Hitchcock also used cinematography in a uniquely stylizing way. Hitchcock
not only uses the camera to create dramatic irony, but he also uses the camera to lie to
the audience and create anxious suspense. For example, in his film Psycho, when
Marion is in the shower Hitchcock frames the scenes very tightly. Marion is in a
confined and very personal space. This makes her incredibly vulnerable. Then
Hitchcock heightens the suspense by creating dramatic irony with the reveal of a
shadowy figure closing in on Marion, unbeknownst to her. This creates a lot of
anxiety for the audience, knowing the protagonist is vulnerable and in danger with
no way of altering the inevitable. Hitchcock then manipulates the audience by
revealing a brief silhouette of an old lady as our shower killer. Hitchcock uses this
reveal to lie to the audience, he makes the audience think they have more inside
knowledge confirming their already growing suspicions, when in reality the audience
is misled entirely and the murderer was Norman all along. The way Hitchcock uses
the camera to reveal both inside information and misleading information truly keeps
the viewer engaged and not knowing what to believe until the truth is finally
revealed. By using this unique technique of controlling the audience by only showing
what he wants you to see, Hitchcock masterfully defies expectations and creates
suspense. Both
Human Rights Act 1998 ( Hra )
Section C: 8
Before the Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA) coming into force, the UK subscribed to
a weak judicial review. However, the Act has brought a drastic change into the
practice of judicial review in the UK. In this essay, I shall argue that with the new
powers conferred to the courts under sections 3 and 4 (ss 3 and 4) of the HRA, they
have developed a mechanism which allows the court to communicate with Parliament
through their interpretations although the practice of judicial review remains
relatively weak . I shall also argue that the courts should continue the adoption of the
new approach to judicial review in the UK to counterbalance and limit the possibility
of State violations of fundamental human rights of individuals whilst still keeping the
principle of parliamentary sovereignty intact.
A weak judicial review is a creation of statute (i.e. the HRA) that reviews the
legitimacy of executive powers to ensure the Government acts within the scope of
power Parliament has conferred to them. Compared to a strong judicial review, the
UK courts have neither the power to strike down a primary legislation nor can they
review legislation decisions. A weakness of strong judicial review is that it would
undermine the principles of separation of powers and parliamentary sovereignty that
underpin the UK Constitution as it would allow the courts to put legal constraints on
Parliament. Therefore, the judiciary should respect the Parliament s decisions and

Culture, Institutions and International Strategy.
For those firms who want to expand their business internationally, it is inevitable for
them to face the cultural challenge. This article stresses the impact of culture on

It obviously promotes specialization within specific region which firm can fully
utilize the human capital and other related resources such as regional pool of
specialized suppliers. What s more, firm can gain better understanding of cultures and
institutional environments. However, closely located competitors might seize the
important resources such as talented employee and, also, imitate its technology and
knowledge. Also, in this fast changing business world, responding faster should be
more appropriate. The firms that pursue agglomeration always take slower action
than other do since they focus their resources on specific region and it is difficult for
them to move or to exploit emerging market.
Future Research and Conclusion
For future research, an issue that interested me is the increasing of cultural
convergence. Can MNCs leverage resources and standardize organizational practices
across cultural boundaries? In my opinion, it is possible but really difficult to
achieve even the world is becoming more global since there is no truly 100%
globalization. Globalization does not mean that every country will become the same
but it makes people realize the differences between them when they move out of their
shells. When a firm goes abroad different strategy will be used differently on each
country so there is no universal strategy or standardize organizational practices.

Contribution Of The Life Of Helen Keller
Balyan 01
Introduction
Helen Adams Keller was an American author, political activist and a lecturer. She
was the first deaf blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. The story of how
Keller s teacher, Anne Sullivan, broke through the isolation imposed by a near
complete lack of language, allowing to blossom into the exemplary system of
bravery, has been widely shown and known through the dramatizations of the play
and film, The miracle worker. She was born in west Tuscumbia, Alabama on June 27,
1880 which is now commemorated as Helen Keller day in the state of Pennsylvania.
Apart from being a very prolific writer, Keller was also a person a strong sense of

The Merger Between American Car Manufacturer Chrysler
And...
1. What are your views of the Chrysler Fiat strategic alliance in 2009?
The merger between American car manufacturer Chrysler and its foreign counterpart,
Fiat, was clearly born out of a mutual need for growth as well as to recover
financially from various setbacks and failures both had experienced.
As the world grows smaller through interconnectivity, the only real option these big
car companies have left to grow is to expand internationally. This alliance is a good
way to expand into new markets with partners who have experience conducting
business in vastly different markets. Seeing as both companies have placed sufficient
trust in one another to share technology and resources there is a much greater
guarantee that this partnership will outlast the one Fiat had with General Motors.
Although this cross border partnership brings its share of benefits, the fact that
Chrysler has always been a marginal auto manufacturer with an inconsistent history
of quality, weak market share, and old technology is troubling. Fiat has also had
its share of problems stemming from issues with Italian labor laws, weakened
business environment, and cost issues. But, both parties have shown a strong drive
to overcome these issues. Chrysler chose to focus on its most successful car brand,
Jeep, and to use it as its main growth platform because of its market share and
visibility. Fiat also took steps to reinvent itself by fixing its brand portfolio and
quality areas with the aid of its

Why Is Cursive Writing Important
The debate on cursive writing, how important is it?
Although cursive writing seems like a thing of the past, many people debate if it
should stay there or not. Writing by hand does have a lot of benifits, not many of
therm do people associate writing by hand with. Although it has been proven to be
good for our minds, there is still a lot of contreversy over the subject.
I agree with the article supporting cursive writing for the following reasons. Writing
by hand, especially in cursive, is very benificial to our memory. More people who
write in cursive remember ideas better as opposed to those who type. Hand writing
verse typing allows people to process the material given to them better. During a

The idea that the wall has been blown down by the birth of his son, conveys his
idea that his life has been disrupted. Yet the man comes to look beyond the wall
that once stood, and notice the view he never knew existed with joy I looked
beyond the stones and saw the view . Without the wall blocking his vision the father
is able to see a much greater view. The conflictthe man faced essentially lead him to
view his life in a different light, realizing he had gained more than lost what he
once had. When conflict arises in our life, it is how we respond to events that can
shape the course of our life. For Deborah Kreiman, a woman living in Los Angeles,
when faced with the inconceivable loss of her five children, it was essentially the
way she dealt with the tragedy that prevented the conflict in her life from reaching
to a point that she could not deal with. Kreiman strengthed her religious beliefs and
focused on other aspects of her life that would bring her happiness. She did not
allow her life to be dictated by the course events that she endured and the restrictions
on her happiness. Kreiman understood that by using her pain as a mechanism for
self growth and refinement, it would lead her to gaining fulfilment and avoid the
prolonged suffering. We can allow restrictions in our life to determine the road ahead
of us, many turn to conflict believing it is thebest way to deal with hardships. Ronald

Wasps Research Paper
When one considers important events in US history, things like the American
Revolution, the Westward Expansion, or the Civil Rights Movement come to
mind. One in particular that I find compelling, is the creation of the Women
Airforce Service Pilots better known as WASPs, during World War II. I find it
interesting because prior to this time and after this period, woman had a very
limited social status. But for a brief time in the 1940s, women achieved not only job
equality but went above and beyond what society expected in many areas. The
WASPs were one such group who broke barriers in more ways than one.

ABSTRACT
ICT have become commonplace entities in all aspects of life. Across the past twenty
years the use of ICT has fundamentally transformed the practices and procedures of
nearly all forms of exertion within business and governance. Education is a very
socially focused activity and quality education has traditionally been connected with
strong teachers having high degrees of personal contact with learners. The use of ICT
in education lends itself to more student centred learning settings. But with the world
moving swiftly into digital media and information, the role of ICT in education is
becoming more and more essential and this importance will continue to grow and
develop in the 21st century.
Introduction Digital Era is also known as Information Age , or New Media Age .

Use Of Overthinking In The Curious Incident Of The Dog

There is nothing in this world that can trouble you as much as your own thoughts.
This quote by Johnny Stones describes Christopher s overthinking. Stones is saying
that when you think about something a lot, you ll either read into it too much, or start
thinking about something else. This can lead to panicattacks, as overthinking is
actually a symptom of Panic Disorder. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the
Night time by Mark Haddon is a story about a boy named Christopher. Though it is
never actually said that he has autism or asperger s, it is easy for readers to assume
he does. He starts writing a murder mystery novel about his neighbor s dog. Through
his research he finds out that his dad killed the dog, and lied to him about his mom
being dead. He overthinks the whole situation, and ends up going to London, by train,
alone. Haddon uses overthinking to increase suspense in the novel, The Curious
Incident of the Dog in the Night time. Christopher goes too much into detail when
describing things which tires him out. And there are 31 more things in this list of

Cults And Its Effects On Society
Cults have been around since the 1930 s and are becoming well known around the
world. Although awareness has been spread out about the serious consequences
joining a cult may have on a person s life, individuals continue falling pray into cultic
groups and remain an active part; the result of joining is decades being brainwashed
into believing only the members hold the truth /enlighten by already brainwashed,
devoted members and their prophet . The majorities of individuals in a cultlive under
cruel, almost inhumane, conditions and are treated awfully. The members have been

Normally in cultic groups, it is prohibited to assimilate with non members. If those
whom are caught breaking this rule, her or she will suffer serious consequences
such as beating, public humiliation, and starvation. Another characteristic shared
among this group is the zero tolerance of priest, rabbis, or ministers berating
/ harassing their congregations with hate speeches towards anyone with the intent
of causing harm to another person. If a priest happens to encounter someone
problematic, it is encouraged to pray for his or her salvation. Also related to the
priest, he will not restrict couples from a normal sex life; instead, priest will
promote self respecting boundaries for couples in and out marriages. Usually in
terror groups, the priest controls all sexual activity among individuals and frequently
demands members to use his or her sexual appeal to lure new recruits. This method
of recruitment often leads marriages to end. Correlating with normal characteristic
presented in a group, it is imperative to take a carful look at the movement s leader
and examine if he or she presents good leadership qualities that will make the whole
groups successful not just them. As presented in Olsson s (2013) journal Normal
Compared to Abnormal Leaders and Groups, a good leader obtain four necessary

Researcher Joseph Kenneth wrote a book arguing that stereotypes are a key factor in
the theory of Constructualism (296). The theory of Constructualism is the process by
which people interact, exchange information, and consequently learn (295).
Constructualism argues that individual learning takes place on two levels. First,
social interaction brings forth new knowledge that represents cultural customs over
time. Second, as people share and receive knowledge with others, a perception of
what is expected for them to know becomes apparent. Paired with the assumption of
homophily (Lazarsfeld Merton, 1954; McPherson, Lovin, Cook, 2001), that people
tend to interact with others similar to them, constructuralism explains how social
relationships evolve via interaction (296). Joseph Kenneth wrote that while people
may hold perceptions of other smaller groups, cognitive limitations prevent them
from understanding people s specific qualities. Rather, they use their perceptions by
incorporating what they learn about others into generalized beliefs of what people
are likely to know. Perceptions are based on past experiences and similarities, such
as race or gender. These perceptions are the basis for stereotypes. Stereotypes can be
useful because they help people navigate through the world to find others with
common interests, but they are not necessarily true

Romanticism In Romantic Poetry
Romantic Poetry Paper
As many of us know, the Romanticism period happen during the 1800 s hundreds and
finished in the mid 1850 s. This movement is an artistic enlightenment that happen
throughout Europe. The people who took an active big role during this movement is
John Keats, Percy Shelley, William Wordsworth and many more. Numerous of their
poteries talks about nature, beauty, love, death etc. However, the major poems that
really stood out to me from these three substantial poets is; She Dwelt Among the
Untrodden Ways by William Wordsworth that signifies the beauties of imagination
and death. Then, ON THE GRASSHOPPER AND CRICKET by John Keatswho
elaborates the happiness of nature. Finally, Mutability by Percy Shelley that
symbolises the bodies and spirits. Therefore, these poems are very meaningful and
may apply to your everyday life.
To begin with, She Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways is about a young lady being
admired comparing her beauty to nature. William Wordsworth says She dwelt
among the untrodden ways Beside the springs of Dove, . Wordsworth is trying to
describe how gentle and innocent she is like nature is. Also Wordsworth adds A
violet by a mossy stone Half hidden from the eye! this quote I believe show people
tend to not notice her that much but in his eyes she is still very beautiful. Later on in
his poetry the young lady is identified as Lucy who may possibly be apart of his
imagination that soon dies in the end. Wordsworth states She

Once this realization gets going, customers are eager to find out more about how
comfortable or how different CK briefs are compared to other brands.
Since the advertisements are very sexual, customers who are aware and interested in
CK s underwear will begin to evaluate the costs and benefits of the new good. CK s
advertisements and models suggest that by wearing CK underwear it will give the
wearer confidence to be sexy and attractive. With the advertisements subliminally
suggesting this, interested customers would see a benefit in buying a pair.
In the fourth stage of product adoption, trial of CK s new underwear line was
probably difficult. Trying on underwear is not as easy as test driving a car; it s
unsanitary. Therefore, heavy advertisements were created to give the illusion that
many people wear CK underwear especially the very sexy people that always gets the
guy or girl.
Finally, the fifth and sixth stages of product adoption are adoption and confirmation.
Adoption is where the customer actually buys the new good and confirmation is
where he or she likes the product and continues to purchase it (Solomon, pg. 256).
Since the beginning, CK s marketing methods have always been about sex appeal.
This goes to show that throughout the times CK s sexy, barely clothed model

Setterfield once noted, There is something about words. In expert hands,

limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce
your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic.
The press established a perception for Clegg and made it known not only to all

Leesburg Elementary Education Case Study
Issues
The Hartmann s felt that Leesburg elementary was not providing Mark an education
in the least restrictive environment possible. They felt that Mark should be educated
in a classroom with his nondisabled peers. They believed that LC failed to follow the
mainstreaming guidelines developed by IDEA. These guidelines as stated in Special
Education Law by Latham and Mandlawitz (2008) state that to the maximum extent
appropriate , a child with a disability should be educated in the same classroom with
their nondisabled peers (pg. 9). The Hartmann s felt that putting Mark into an autistic
classroom would diminish his ability to gain social skills with his peers.

Taking a Look at Acid Rain
Acid rain or acid deposition occurs when atmospheric pollutants, namely sulfur
dioxide and nitrogen oxides, combine with water vapour present in the atmosphere.
(Morgan, 1999, p. 3) Acid deposition is a broad term which includes any precipitation
that has a pH deemed to be acidic. When these pollutants, released from the burning of
fossils fuels or the smelting of metal, enter into the atmosphere they combine with
moisture before falling down to Earth. (National Geographic, n.d.) A chemical
reaction then occurs converting these reactants into sulfuric and nitric acid which in
turn will create rain that is acidic. (Petheram, 2003, p. 15) Prior to this, several
reactions must first occur. Sulfur, which is found in nature in a solid state, must
transform into sulfur oxide gas. (Morgan, 1999, p. 35) Sulfur dioxideis often found
from industrial emissions and electricity generation. (Jakuboski, 2011) While it can
be found in nature, it is not found in nearly as conspicuous amounts as it is from
human pollution. In nature it is formed by bonding sulfur oxides with oxygen in the
atmosphere, transforming the sulfur oxides into a gaseous state. Sulfur dioxide gases
will then oxide to create sulfur trioxide. Finally, sulfur trioxide will chemically bond
with moisture in the atmosphere to form sulfuric acid. (Morgan, 1999, p. 34)
Nitrogen, however, remains a different story altogether. Nitrogen monoxide, which
enters into the atmosphere as emissions from vehicles and
Apollo And Cassandra Essay
Apollo and CassandraAncient Myth. Apollo and Cassandra (myth). N.p., n.d.
Web. 07 Oct. 2016. Apollo, the son of Jupiter would often visit his temples where
people worshiped him. One day on one of his many visits he met a priestess named
Cassandra that worked in his temple. He instantly fell in love her and would do
anything to just to have a simple kiss from her. Bewitched by her beauty Apollo
offered to give her the gift of seeing the future if she gave him a kiss. Delighted by
the proposition Cassandra hurriedly agreed, but when she looked into the future
she saw that Apollo was helping to destroy Troy. When he went to kiss her
Cassandra spit in his face. Angered by this Apollo added to her gift and made sure

His consort is Venus and his children are Eros, Anteros, Phobos, Deimos, Harmonia,

temperament. He had a tendency to be difficult, moody and argumentative. Mars is
always depicted as a strong warrior dressed in armor and surrounded by weapons.
Mars was on the council of gods and a few of his symbols are the sacred shield, a
spear, a vulture, a dog, an owl and many more. He was known to aid the Romans in
battle, help crush rebellions and stop invasions to protect Rome. According to Roman
mythology Mars ancile (a shield) fell from the heavens and landed on Numa
Pompilius, the second king of Rome. It is said that a voice was heard throughout
Rome that as long as the Romans took care of the shield they would prosper and be
mistress of the world. Mars is honored in the month of March, when many festivals
take place. He was also honored of the Ides of October (October 15) when the
chariot races took place in Rome. The winner of the races would sacrifice the horse

Altruism In The Armed Forces
The Armed Forces to me means for someone to battle with a selfless attitude. I
know many people who fight or have fought in the Armed Forces. Someone close
to fought in the Navy, he is my grandpa. My grandpa s and other troops love for the
United States of America is endless and unconditional. Leaving their loved ones
takes a deep devotion to go miles away from everyone they ve ever known so that

That type of individual can be described as the trait of altruism. This specific type of
personality trait takes integrity and courage that encompasses this type of troop. The
Essay about The Disputed Reign of Dowager Empress
Tz’u-hsi
The Disputed Reign of Dowager Empress Tz u hsi Historical record is not always
an accurate representation of fact. An example of this would be the long reign of the
Dowager Empress Tz u hsi, in which there were hundreds of documents written about
her life. These documents have been taken and used in the production of numerous
books, especially among Western historians. It was these early historians who have
established the widely accepted perspective that Tz u hsi hungered for power, abused
it, and retained it using any means necessary. This understanding is echoed today by
authors such as W.G. Sebald, author of The Rings of Saturn. There are many
differences between the accounts of the Western perspective and that of Sebald s,...

She then had three princes, who had acted as the late emperor s viceroys, charged
with treason and graciously allowed them to commit suicide using a silken rope
(147 8). This idea about her craving for power is reiterated with Sebald s claim of
the mysterious deaths of her son and pregnant daughter in law who seemed healthy
until the Emperor becomes old enough to rule without the Empress (148). Then the
Empress had them replaced by an heir who would be easier to control: her two year
old nephew Kuang hsu (148). Sebald described the second emperor, Kaung hsu, as
being fascinated by the mysteries of modern machines (152). Although this may
seem like a minute detail, Kaung Hsu s love of modern machines is a
representation of his favor for modernization. It was this interest in modernization
that eventually led to a great disagreement with the Empress (152). Once it was
clear that Tz u hsi would deny the nation of Kaung hsu s ideas of modernization,
Kaung hsu attempted to wrest power to himself and was stopped by the Empress
(152). The Empress then imprisoned Kaung hsu in a moated palace (152). Once
the Emperor was confined, the Empress would be able to rule uncontested for as
long as she lived and as long as the Emperor was powerless. To keep the Emperor
powerless, Tz u hsi made sure that he stayed isolated for ten years until the late
summer of 1908 when he started having chronic headaches and backache, renal
cramps, hypersensitivity to
Frederick Ozanam Research Paper
A devoted Christian and French scholar, Frederic Ozanam, was born in Milan on
April 23, 1813. He came from a modest middle class family. Although his parents
gave birth to fourteen children, he was one of the only three kids that survived
and reached adulthood (St. Vincent de Paul, 2010). The passing of Frederic
Ozanam s siblings made him doubt about his Christian faith at a young age. He
realized that although prayers were necessary to communicate with God, actions
might make a bigger difference in the society (Blessed FrГ©dГ©ric Ozanam,
2013). During his years at the University of the Sorbonne in Paris, Frederic
Ozanam studied law and he also defended the Catholic teachings when some of his
teachers were being disrespectful to this religion. He was not only a brilliant
student but also a very caring and responsible young adult (Schimberg, 1946).
When he observed the miserable life of many Paris people, he decided to help the
poor in Paris who were living in tenements. Frederic Ozanam was inspired to praise
the lord through actions at a discussion club where people from different religious
background talk about the issues happening around the world (Blessed FrГ©dГ©ric
Ozanam, 2013). He realized that actions are bigger than words, and it is through
actions that people can be saved.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the patronage of St. Vincent de Paul, Frederic Ozanam organized a group of
students who were deeply devoted to their Christian belief and would like to
sacrifice their time to help and respect the poor while providing the best service they
could. Under the leadership of Frederic Ozanam, the students started the Conference
of Charity , and later the name changed into the Conference of St. Vincent de Paul in
1834. They met every week to contribute to a secret collection and then they would go
visit the least fortunate communities in Paris to distribute the goods that they
collected (St. Vincent de Paul,
The Ballad Of Birmingham, By Duley Randall
Many poems deal with the harsh realities of the death of a loved one and how
those affected begin to heal as they work through the process of grieving. The
Ballad of Birmingham, Eating Alone and Eating Together all portray individuals
dealing with a devastating loss in their life, and the authors use their personal life
experiences and views, incorporating them their writings. In The Ballad of
Birmingham the author, Duley Randall, works to convey a tragic scene of loss. The
event that Randall is referring to is the September 15th, 1963 bombing, in
Birmingham Alabama, of a predominantly African American church. This bombing
resulted in the deaths of four young girls; Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, Addie
Mae Collins, and Cynthia Wesley, and also many others were injured. This hate
crime was committed by four members of the Ku Klux Klanas an act of terrorism
against the Afro American people. Duley Randall was one of the first African
American writers and poets. Randall was born in 1914 and had personally
experienced much racism first hand throughout his life. Because of this Randall had a
personal connection to the same prejudice felt by the black community and could
relate to the people of Birmingham. Actually, the bombings in Birmingham impacted
him and the nation deeply and were a major reason why Randall chose to begin
writing about the events of the time. He focused on the events that were related to the
racial injustices endured by the people. Many feel his
Kraft Heinz Case Study
Strategic Issues and Actions
Strategy Model
The strategy of Kraft Heinz dramatically changed after the merger in 2015. The new
strategy is considered to be iconoclastic. This is because the new leaders of the
company are not reminiscing in the past or using the former strategies that worked
for the company. They did a complete overhaul to the leadership and the strategies
that worked for the company. The new company objectives are as follows: 1.
Profitable sales growth, 2 Best in class margins, and 3. A superior return of capital.
The company will no longer let employees slip in to the cracks and gain a retirement,
it must be earned.
Since 3G Capital is the holding company for Kraft Heinz they follow the
meritocracy model set forth by 3G. Colvin (2017) discussed the fact that those
who do good move forward and up, those that do bad get fired. It is almost biblical
Don t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap
(Galatians 6:7, Holman Christian Standard Bible). Colvin explains this when he
discusses the new CEO:
Kraft Heinz CEO Ber¬nardo Hees, for example, first became a CEO in 2005 at a
company called All America Latina Logistica, owned by a 3G Capital predecessor.
He was then made CEO of Burger King, a 3G Capital holding since 2010. He moved
up to be CEO of Heinz in 2013 and now of Kraft Heinz.
The infamous company, 3G, uses a private equity strategy, however 3G Capital does
not operate as a traditional private equity corporation.

There was no reason why compound interest should not be awarded if it was
ordinary commercial practice. Lord Goff gave his judgment first, agreeing that there
was no resulting trust for different reasons, but in dissent arguing that compound
interest should be awarded on personal claims. (2) A proprietary claim in restitution I
have already stated that restitution in these cases can be achieved by means of a
personal claim in restitution. The question has however arisen whether the Bank
should also have the benefit of an equitable proprietary claim in the form of a

case. The parties have entered into commercial transaction. The transaction has, for
technical reasons, been held to be void from the beginning. Each party is entitled to
recover its money, with the result that the balance must be repaid. But why should
the plaintiff Bank be given the additional benefits Lord Goff. which flow from a
proprietary claim, for example the benefit of achieving priority in the event of the

Mobile Devices For A Large Geographical Area Wirelessly
Essay
#1 The concept of a wireless network is to be able to provide a broad range of
coverage to a large geographical area wirelessly (Techtarget, n. d.). Further, a
wireless network gives one an advantage to connect wirelessly to other devices in
separate areas of coverage. In healthcare, a wireless network is used to improve
access, reduce errors and deliver an accurate healthcare information anywhere and at
any given period among patients and healthcare providers (IEEE, 2003). Mobile
devices, such as tablets, smartphones, personal digital assistant (PDA) and other
handheld devices have made it possible to have a broad range of efficient healthcare
applications (IEEE,2003). The mobile devices used by healthcare providers at a
patient bedside can be used to monitor and manage patient information s wirelessly
(searchhealthIT, 2016).
Some of the examples of the wireless WAN I am familiar with are (a) Asynchronous
Transfer Mode (ATM) that is a new computer and communication technology used to
transfer data, voice, and video to transfer information consecutively over a
communication line. Also, ATM is a technology that is connection oriented and
universally enable the transfer mode of choice broadband integrated services digital
network; and in ATM, information field is transferred transparently (Rajan
Selvakumar, 2016). Additionally, ATM data are broken down into fixed sizes and
sent over WAN network, and it also causes minimal latency (Cowley, 2012). (b)

Adaptive Leadership
The adaptive leadership approach is different than others because it is follower based
and it deals with how those followers deal with difficult problems. Adaptive
leadership centers on how people respond to change and how leaders support them in
a changing environment.
The role of the leader is to mobilize, motivate, organize, orient, and focus the
attention of the follower. The follower s role is to be willing to change, adapt, and
listen to the leader during this transition.
The three ways leaders regulate change are through creating a holding environment,
Provide Direction, and regulate personal distress. The first way is to create a holding
environment establish an atmosphere in which people can feel safe tackling difficult
problems, but not so much so that they can avoid the problem. The second way is to
provide direction, protection, orientation, conflict management, and productive
norms. This helps to identify the adaptive challenges that others face then frame
these so they can be addressed, be responsible to manage the rate of adaptive
change, orient people to new roles and responsibilities, handle conflict effectively,
establish productive norms. The third way is to regulate personal distress , leaders
need to keep people focused on the hard work they need to do and the tension that
accompanies that, while at the same time being sensitive to the very real frustrations
and pain that people feel when doing adaptive work, leaders need to make sure they

Embryo Persuasive Speech
The act of removing an embryo or fetus before it can survive outside the uterus
raises major issues. From these aborted children, embryonic stem cells or ESC s, can
be withdrawn out of the embryo and planted into adults. Embryonic stem cells are
pluripotent stem cells derived from the inner cell mass of a blastocyst, an early stage
preimplantation embryo. Isolating the embryoblast results in destruction of the
blastocyst, this raises ethical issues, including whether or not embryos at the
preimplantation stage should be considered to have the same moral or legal status
as more developed human beings. We have to discuss and decide on some of the
obstacles which must be overcome before large scale clinical trials can be considered
and whether... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the many issues that comes forth with embryonic stem cell research is whether
the embryo has the same moral status as an adult. Furthermore, a human embryo is a
human being in the embryonic stage, just as an infant is a human being in the infant
stage. Although the embryo does not have the full characteristics of a person, it will
become one and should be given the same respect of one. The moral status the
embryo has for the person it is
trying to grow in, is the same moral status we should have for it. This means that it
should be protected from the moment the sperm fertilizes the egg.
As well as ethical issues, there is also unexpected results and effects from stem cell
usage. This includes the passing on of viruses and diseases from other animals.
Patients who receive stem cells are put on strong drugs to make sure that the
transplant was successful, but these medications actually wipe out their immune
system. This makes them more susceptible to viruses that are present in the stem
cells. Animal sources are also used to provide nutrients to the stem cells that are
cultivated in a laboratory. The humans receiving cell based therapies could get
various diseases that were in the animals before. This is a huge concern since stem
cell screening is currently insufficient to detect disease that may be
A Rake s Progress Essay
William Hogarth is a name well known from the 18th century as one of the best
artists for his work A Rake s Progress. Despite his background that emerged from
unsuccessful parents he did not follow that trend for he used his thoughts about
society to create works of life sized paintings that became so popular that he pushed
for the Copyright Act of 1735 ( National Gallery Website ). Hogarth created A Rake s
Progress in 1733 that contains the main character, Tom Rakewell, within the borders
of Britain and Bedlam, Londonto reflect the madness of the 18th century. The
painting has more than just brilliant craftsmanship but a story behind it that is

A Rake s Progress shows a number of different types of people implicated. For
example, Tom was on his way to the Queen s birthday party when he was stopped
by bailiffs and therefore his lifestyle is actually being encouraged and supported by
aristocrats. In A Rake s Progress, everyone from the Queen to the priest that
performs his marriage of convenience, to common prostitutes, are part of the
problem. But it is not just Hogarth s take no prisoners approach to social
commentary that made him so popular. Printed satire was actually already very
common place and central London was full of bookshops and print sellers that
displayed this kind of work. What Hogarth did do was to tell a story through
pictures. In fact, Hogarth s series were adapted into plays and pantomimes during
his lifetime. His visual drama offered his audience a new way to enjoy satire. The
title A Rake s Progress was referencing John Bunyans The Pilgrims Progress.
Hogarth successfully borrows from popular culture in order to express complicated
ideas through an enjoyable and totally accessible story. Hogarth did this so well, he
is celebrated to this day. Today is can be viewed in the Sir John s museum for

Alternative Dispute Resolution ( Adr )
Introduction
Since litigation particularly in High Court is both expensive, time consuming and
also the disadvantage of process being conducted to the public. Different parties with
disputes have sought after other means of dispute resolution which is generally
known as alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
Alternative dispute resolution is basically a way of solving civil dispute. It is the
collective term for the ways that parties settle civil disputes, with the assistance of an
autonomous third party and without the need of a court hearing which often leads to
a mutual understanding between both parties. In situations where mediation does
not decide the case, a variety of other options which includes conciliation,
arbitration, adjudication and private judging which is a rare option of ADR.
Regardless of the historic opposition to ADR by many parties and their advocates,
ADR has since gained widespread acceptance among both the public and the legal
profession in contemporary years. In addition to this, courts now advice some parties
to resort to ADR which includes mediation before approving the parties cases to be
tried in court. The first practical use of alternative dispute resolution procedures began
in the 1970s as a possible way for the disabling court backlogs and also a way to
resolve environmental and natural resource disputes. In 1985, the Attorney General
issued a directive identifying the need for ADR to drastically reduce the time and cost
of litigation.

The objective lens gathers light and bends them to create an inverted real image.
By using an objective lens with a diameter larger than the eyepiece lens, more light
would get through the telescope. The eyepiece lens will then reflect back the image
to form an inverted, magnified virtual image in front of ~. For this experiment, the
formulas used are the lens equations 1/f = 1/di + 1/do to find the focal lengths of
the lenses, M = fo/fe for the prediction of magnification, and M = Hi/Ho for the
actual measurement of magnification. According to theory, a telescope consisting two

  • 1. Essays On Beowulf Crafting an essay on the subject of Beowulf can be both a challenging and enriching endeavor. This ancient epic poem, with its intricate language, historical context, and complex characters, poses a set of hurdles for any writer aiming to delve into its depths. Firstly, understanding the nuances of Old English, in which Beowulf was originally composed, requires a dedicated effort. The archaic language and syntax can be intimidating, demanding meticulous research to ensure accurate interpretation and translation. Furthermore, comprehending the cultural and historical context of the poem is vital for providing a nuanced analysis. Analyzing the characters within Beowulf adds another layer of difficulty. From the valiant hero to the monstrous foes, each figure is laden with symbolism and meaning. Unraveling these layers and presenting a coherent interpretation can be a formidable task, demanding a profound understanding of both literature and cultural anthropology. The structure of the essay itself also requires careful consideration. Balancing a historical analysis, character exploration, and thematic discussion while maintaining a cohesive narrative is no easy feat. The essay must not only showcase a deep understanding of Beowulf but also present a compelling argument that engages the reader. However, amidst these challenges lies the opportunity for intellectual growth and exploration. Writing an essay on Beowulf provides a chance to appreciate the literary richness of this epic, exploring themes of heroism, loyalty, and the eternal struggle between good and evil. • 2. Book Publishing in 2010 Essay Summary This paper is about Book publishing industry in the USA. Main analysis are done using Porter s five forces analysis. First analysis is on industry before e books while indentifying main levels of threats for industry from existing rivalry, new entrants, bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of suppliers and substitutions. Also, same research is being conducted for industry after ebooks emerged. Next part is looking to the future of industry and identifying main opportunities and threats looking forward. Finally paper is concluded with suggestions for suppliers how to sustain their business. Introduction Book publishing business recently has been going through lots of changes. New technologies opened doors for new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bargaining power of suppliers High for Manuscripts of popular authors/ Low for material Production: Two of major costs for publishers ware paper and printing. Both paper and printing services were easily accessible and publisher could easily switch from one supplier to another. As a result, bargaining power of suppliers was low. In addition, in terms of printing, publishers could choose either to outsource printing or to build their own printing facilities, which put even more pressure on suppliers. Manuscripts: Bestselling authors had a strong bargaining power; publishing houses even went to auctions to buy new manuscripts. Meanwhile, new and unknown authors had low bargaining power. For them it was important to get on the book store shelves. Industry after advent of e books Threat of new entrants Increased. Internet and e books lowered barrier to enter. There are more and easier ways how publishers can reach consumers. People have electronic devices everywhere (phones, tablets and etc.) and small companies can reach bigger audience much easier. Rivalry Among Existing Competitors Decreased E books and online publishing had a significant impact on industry. Some companies failed to keep up with technological advancement and had to run out of business. Industry became less concentrated with fewer but stronger publishers. Threat of substitute products or services Increased In terms of books itself, to
  • 3. Maximal Oxygen Uptake And Vo2max Is The Highest Rate At... Maximal oxygen uptake or Vo2max is the highest rate at which the oxygen can be taken up and utilized by the body during severe exercise (Bassett Howley, 2000). Vo2max is wide ly used both in sports and clinical practice and its measurement allows us to assess cardi orespiratory fitness, one of the most powerful markers of health (Mayorga Vega, Aguilar Soto Viciana 2015; Bruce, Kusumi Hosmer 1973). Vo2max also provides essential di agnostic and prognostic information for clinical populations, such as patients with heart failure (Sartor, Vernillo, de Morree, et al., 2013). The most precise method for the assessment of maximal oxygen consumption is the direct measurement which is considered the gold standard (Noonan Dean, 2000). However, the use of this method is limited in several settings such as in sports clubs, schools, or in large scale research studies (Pescatello American College of Sports Medicine, 2014) because it requires appropriate and expensive equipment, supervision by trained personnel and a max imal level of exertion which cannot be achieved by all the individuals and especially those who may be limited by pain, fatigue, abnormal gait, impaired balance or those with cardio vascular problems(Evans, Ferrar, Smith, et al., 2015). As a consequence, many indirect tests have been developed for use in sports, clinical and home settings but there are sundry fac tors which must be considered when we select one of them. Such factors are the population that we
  • 4. The Last Boss Of New York The Last Boss of New York It was beautiful day with a slight breeze that cooled you each time it passed. My father, Tony Di Marco and I, were taking a stroll around the gardens of our family s compound in Staten Island, in New York City. My father wearing his usual black tuxedo dinner jacket with the buttons open and BoutonniГЁre with a red rose, underneath was his black waistcoat with the button closed, underneath that was his white Shirt and topped off with a black bow tie. His hair was combed back as far as possible it was short and coloured black with sort off grey streaks which showed his age. He was built like a house, with his broad shoulders, his body was big and powerful looking but no wonder because after all he did like the rich food and always had a glass of wine to wash it down. Facially the feature most remembered after first glance was his cheeks, they sagged down to about his jaw line, this made his accent powerful as every time he spoke it sounded like he was questioning what you had said. He had a moustache and it was the length of his top lip, it was as if it was somebody s eyebrow it was that thin. He walked with grace and power as if he was untouchable. We walked to the gates and decide to take the stroll further. He told the security guard who was manning the gates to Open the gates he then slipped the guard a $20 dollars. I loved the way he did this as it was a sign of power and respect. We walked for a while talking about what would happen
  • 5. The Importance Of Loneliness And Social Connection In... Riding horseback, lounging in a carriage, travelling by train turned metro, through all these years of industrial innovation humanity has needed social interaction. These social interactions have gone from intimate gatherings, to newspapers, to social networking, and people made advancements in ways to gather information faster and in turn dealt away their social presence. Today, young adults throw themselves into an alternate reality which many use to protect them from loneliness while it drags others into remote depths. Imagine looking around during your day and at any point you see no one. Not that no person is there, but nobody you can talk to. The vice like grip inside you that strengthens with each passing body creates an ache too strong to suppress. Much like a black hole that pulls you into nothingness. Human connection is a valuable thing and helps keep a stable piece of mind. Loneliness is that lack of human connection. This issue is important because of its relation to the rising suicide rate. According to research presented at the 125th Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association Loneliness and social isolation might represent a greater public health hazard than obesity, and its impact has been growing and will continue to grow. Being lonely is the start of a downhill spiral and the effect of social interaction and rise of loneliness results in suicides to escape enormous pain. The use of social networking has become an escape from the

Themes in White Noise by Don DeLillo Essay White Noise The world...is crowded, not necessarily with occupants and not at all with memorable experiences, but with happenings; it is a ceaseless flow of seductive trivialities which invoke neither reflection, nor choice but instant participation. (Oakeshott) The idea of the lacking of realness is one of the major themes carried out throughout the novel White Noise by Don DeLillo, especially through the device of the television. For most people there are only two places in the world. Where they live and their TV set. If a thing happens on television, we have every right to find it fascinating, whatever it is. This theme of consumerism is one of the strongest driving forces in the novel, which explains why the role of the television is so important. TV s commercial emergence coincides with the golden age of Fordism. (McCarthy 2) The television thrives merely on the ratings that bring about an enlarged group of commercial viewers, and the more viewers, the more money is brought in through commercials and advertising. Although many people believe that they themselves are not influenced by advertising, no one can escape the brief moments of mind numbing product awareness being drilled into their heads. Even if these advertisements do not cause some people to immediately go out and by the products, commercial images linger in their minds, leaving shadowforms that shape perception and experience. (Yehnert 4) This idea is portrayed in White Noise when Jack and Murray go visit the Most Photographed Barn in America. (DeLillo 12 13) The image mediates everything, for the barn would be nothing special at all without the advertised title of the most photographed . Knowing this about the barn, viewing it becomes a new way of seeing and being . (Yehnert 4) Murray seems to be one of the only characters in the book that truly realizes and appreciates this phenomenon and points out that once you ve seen the advertisements for the barn it becomes impossible to actually see the barn itself. Furthermore, ambition is desire of doing something that is good or bad like revenge. Also, when Malcolm heard what happened to Macduff s family and how Scotland has become after being ruled by Macbeth, it made him want to kill Macbeth. Another theme in Macbeth is guilt. I believe that guilt is feeling bad for something that you have done to someone or something. In addition, guilt can destroy you and/or eat at you. It could even drive you to do something like it did to Macduff. Macduff went to England and left his family behind so that he could get Malcolm to come back and be king. When he left to get Malcolm, Macbeth killed his entire family. He felt guilty for living his family alone in Scotland without protection. Similarly to ambition, his guilt drove him to kill Macbeth. Another example of guilt is Lady Macbeth sleeping walking towards the end of the play. Lady Macbeth and Macbeth killed the king of Scotland (Duncan) and she is feeling guilty for what she has done. Also, she doesn t like what her husband has done like killing Macduff s whole family. She feels as if she was responsible for that. In a result of that she ends up sleep walking and eventually killing herself because she couldn t live with the guilt anymore. The guilt of killing Duncan literally ate at Lady Macbeth and destroyed her to the point of suicide. Macbeth feels guilty for killing Duncan.

The frequent focus fraternities and sororities place on alcohol encourages excessive consumption, unfortunately causing the development of alcoholism and incidents of alcohol poisoning. The term hazing is defined as any conduct or method of initiation into any student organization, whether on public or private property, which willfully or recklessly endangers the physical or mental health of any student or other person (UMass). Alfred Hitchcock also used cinematography in a uniquely stylizing way. Hitchcock not only uses the camera to create dramatic irony, but he also uses the camera to lie to the audience and create anxious suspense. For example, in his film Psycho, when Marion is in the shower Hitchcock frames the scenes very tightly. Marion is in a confined and very personal space. This makes her incredibly vulnerable. Then Hitchcock heightens the suspense by creating dramatic irony with the reveal of a shadowy figure closing in on Marion, unbeknownst to her. This creates a lot of anxiety for the audience, knowing the protagonist is vulnerable and in danger with no way of altering the inevitable. Hitchcock then manipulates the audience by revealing a brief silhouette of an old lady as our shower killer. Hitchcock uses this reveal to lie to the audience, he makes the audience think they have more inside knowledge confirming their already growing suspicions, when in reality the audience is misled entirely and the murderer was Norman all along. The way Hitchcock uses the camera to reveal both inside information and misleading information truly keeps the viewer engaged and not knowing what to believe until the truth is finally revealed. By using this unique technique of controlling the audience by only showing what he wants you to see, Hitchcock masterfully defies expectations and creates suspense. Both

However, the Act has brought a drastic change into the practice of judicial review in the UK. In this essay, I shall argue that with the new powers conferred to the courts under sections 3 and 4 (ss 3 and 4) of the HRA, they have developed a mechanism which allows the court to communicate with Parliament through their interpretations although the practice of judicial review remains relatively weak . I shall also argue that the courts should continue the adoption of the new approach to judicial review in the UK to counterbalance and limit the possibility of State violations of fundamental human rights of individuals whilst still keeping the principle of parliamentary sovereignty intact. A weak judicial review is a creation of statute (i.e. the HRA) that reviews the legitimacy of executive powers to ensure the Government acts within the scope of power Parliament has conferred to them. Compared to a strong judicial review, the UK courts have neither the power to strike down a primary legislation nor can they review legislation decisions. A weakness of strong judicial review is that it would undermine the principles of separation of powers and parliamentary sovereignty that underpin the UK Constitution as it would allow the courts to put legal constraints on Parliament. Therefore, the judiciary should respect the Parliament s decisions and remain the

The merger between American car manufacturer Chrysler and its foreign counterpart, Fiat, was clearly born out of a mutual need for growth as well as to recover financially from various setbacks and failures both had experienced. As the world grows smaller through interconnectivity, the only real option these big car companies have left to grow is to expand internationally. This alliance is a good way to expand into new markets with partners who have experience conducting business in vastly different markets. Seeing as both companies have placed sufficient trust in one another to share technology and resources there is a much greater guarantee that this partnership will outlast the one Fiat had with General Motors. Although this cross border partnership brings its share of benefits, the fact that Chrysler has always been a marginal auto manufacturer with an inconsistent history of quality, weak market share, and old technology is troubling. This quote by Johnny Stones describes Christopher s overthinking. Stones is saying that when you think about something a lot, you ll either read into it too much, or start thinking about something else. This can lead to panicattacks, as overthinking is actually a symptom of Panic Disorder. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time by Mark Haddon is a story about a boy named Christopher. Though it is never actually said that he has autism or asperger s, it is easy for readers to assume he does. He starts writing a murder mystery novel about his neighbor s dog. Through his research he finds out that his dad killed the dog, and lied to him about his mom being dead. He overthinks the whole situation, and ends up going to London, by train, alone. Haddon uses overthinking to increase suspense in the novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time. Christopher goes too much into detail when describing things which tires him out. His fear of a new place is semi rational, as it makes sense for someone to be uncomfortable in a place they don t know, but he over thinks it and has full on panic attacks because he can t know every detail all at once because there are too many. His fear of being around his father is understandable, but again, he over thought the situation. He jumped from the thought that Father could kill Wellington, to that Father could kill him. He shows his thought in equation form, complicating it. This could contribute the the fact that he has trouble understanding people, because people have trouble understanding

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Researcher Joseph Kenneth wrote a book arguing that stereotypes are a key factor in the theory of Constructualism (296). The theory of Constructualism is the process by which people interact, exchange information, and consequently learn (295). Constructualism argues that individual learning takes place on two levels. First, social interaction brings forth new knowledge that represents cultural customs over time. Second, as people share and receive knowledge with others, a perception of what is expected for them to know becomes apparent. Paired with the assumption of homophily (Lazarsfeld Merton, 1954; McPherson, Lovin, Cook, 2001), that people tend to interact with others similar to them, constructuralism explains how social relationships evolve via interaction (296). Joseph Kenneth wrote that while people may hold perceptions of other smaller groups, cognitive limitations prevent them from understanding people s specific qualities. Rather, they use their perceptions by incorporating what they learn about others into generalized beliefs of what people are likely to know. Perceptions are based on past experiences and similarities, such as race or gender. These perceptions are the basis for stereotypes. Stereotypes can be useful because they help people navigate through the world to find others with common interests, but they are not necessarily true

(Morgan, 1999, p. 3) Acid deposition is a broad term which includes any precipitation that has a pH deemed to be acidic. When these pollutants, released from the burning of fossils fuels or the smelting of metal, enter into the atmosphere they combine with moisture before falling down to Earth. (National Geographic, n.d.) A chemical reaction then occurs converting these reactants into sulfuric and nitric acid which in turn will create rain that is acidic. (Petheram, 2003, p. 15) Prior to this, several reactions must first occur. Sulfur, which is found in nature in a solid state, must transform into sulfur oxide gas. (Morgan, 1999, p. 35) Sulfur dioxideis often found from industrial emissions and electricity generation. (Jakuboski, 2011) While it can be found in nature, it is not found in nearly as conspicuous amounts as it is from human pollution. In nature it is formed by bonding sulfur oxides with oxygen in the atmosphere, transforming the sulfur oxides into a gaseous state. Sulfur dioxide gases will then oxide to create sulfur trioxide. Finally, sulfur trioxide will chemically bond with moisture in the atmosphere to form sulfuric acid. (Morgan, 1999, p. 34) Nitrogen, however, remains a different story altogether. Lord Goff gave his judgment first, agreeing that there was no resulting trust for different reasons, but in dissent arguing that compound interest should be awarded on personal claims. (2) A proprietary claim in restitution I have already stated that restitution in these cases can be achieved by means of a personal claim in restitution. The question has however arisen whether the Bank should also have the benefit of an equitable proprietary claim in the form of a resulting trust. The immediate reaction must be В why should it? Take the present case. The parties have entered into commercial transaction. The transaction has, for technical reasons, been held to be void from the beginning. Each party is entitled to recover its money, with the result that the balance must be repaid. But why should the plaintiff Bank be given the additional benefits Lord Goff. which flow from a proprietary claim, for example the benefit of achieving priority in the event of the defendant s insolvency? After all, it has entered into a commercial transaction, and so taken the

Mobile Devices For A Large Geographical Area Wirelessly Essay #1 The concept of a wireless network is to be able to provide a broad range of coverage to a large geographical area wirelessly (Techtarget, n. d.). Further, a wireless network gives one an advantage to connect wirelessly to other devices in separate areas of coverage. In healthcare, a wireless network is used to improve access, reduce errors and deliver an accurate healthcare information anywhere and at any given period among patients and healthcare providers (IEEE, 2003). Mobile devices, such as tablets, smartphones, personal digital assistant (PDA) and other handheld devices have made it possible to have a broad range of efficient healthcare applications (IEEE,2003). The mobile devices used by healthcare providers at a patient bedside can be used to monitor and manage patient information s wirelessly (searchhealthIT, 2016). Some of the examples of the wireless WAN I am familiar with are (a) Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) that is a new computer and communication technology used to transfer data, voice, and video to transfer information consecutively over a communication line. Also, ATM is a technology that is connection oriented and universally enable the transfer mode of choice broadband integrated services digital network; and in ATM, information field is transferred transparently (Rajan Selvakumar, 2016). Additionally, ATM data are broken down into fixed sizes and sent over WAN network, and it also causes minimal latency (Cowley, 2012). (b) Frame relay is similar
  • 50. Adaptive Leadership The adaptive leadership approach is different than others because it is follower based and it deals with how those followers deal with difficult problems. Adaptive leadership centers on how people respond to change and how leaders support them in a changing environment. The role of the leader is to mobilize, motivate, organize, orient, and focus the attention of the follower. The follower s role is to be willing to change, adapt, and listen to the leader during this transition. The three ways leaders regulate change are through creating a holding environment, Provide Direction, and regulate personal distress. The first way is to create a holding environment establish an atmosphere in which people can feel safe tackling difficult problems, but not so much so that they can avoid the problem. The second way is to provide direction, protection, orientation, conflict management, and productive norms. This helps to identify the adaptive challenges that others face then frame these so they can be addressed, be responsible to manage the rate of adaptive change, orient people to new roles and responsibilities, handle conflict effectively, establish productive norms. The third way is to regulate personal distress , leaders need to keep people focused on the hard work they need to do and the tension that accompanies that, while at the same time being sensitive to the very real frustrations and pain that people feel when doing adaptive work, leaders need to make sure they have their own act together ... It is imperative to stay focused on the problem and the task at hand in order to get anything or considerable magnitude
  • 51. Embryo Persuasive Speech The act of removing an embryo or fetus before it can survive outside the uterus raises major issues. From these aborted children, embryonic stem cells or ESC s, can be withdrawn out of the embryo and planted into adults. Embryonic stem cells are pluripotent stem cells derived from the inner cell mass of a blastocyst, an early stage preimplantation embryo. Isolating the embryoblast results in destruction of the blastocyst, this raises ethical issues, including whether or not embryos at the preimplantation stage should be considered to have the same moral or legal status as more developed human beings. We have to discuss and decide on some of the obstacles which must be overcome before large scale clinical trials can be considered and whether... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the many issues that comes forth with embryonic stem cell research is whether the embryo has the same moral status as an adult. Furthermore, a human embryo is a human being in the embryonic stage, just as an infant is a human being in the infant stage. Although the embryo does not have the full characteristics of a person, it will become one and should be given the same respect of one. The moral status the embryo has for the person it is trying to grow in, is the same moral status we should have for it. This means that it should be protected from the moment the sperm fertilizes the egg. As well as ethical issues, there is also unexpected results and effects from stem cell usage. This includes the passing on of viruses and diseases from other animals. Patients who receive stem cells are put on strong drugs to make sure that the transplant was successful, but these medications actually wipe out their immune system. This makes them more susceptible to viruses that are present in the stem cells. Animal sources are also used to provide nutrients to the stem cells that are cultivated in a laboratory. The humans receiving cell based therapies could get various diseases that were in the animals before. This is a huge concern since stem cell screening is currently insufficient to detect disease that may be

  • 53. Alternative Dispute Resolution ( Adr ) Introduction Since litigation particularly in High Court is both expensive, time consuming and also the disadvantage of process being conducted to the public. Different parties with disputes have sought after other means of dispute resolution which is generally known as alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Alternative dispute resolution is basically a way of solving civil dispute. It is the collective term for the ways that parties settle civil disputes, with the assistance of an autonomous third party and without the need of a court hearing which often leads to a mutual understanding between both parties. In situations where mediation does not decide the case, a variety of other options which includes conciliation, arbitration, adjudication and private judging which is a rare option of ADR. Regardless of the historic opposition to ADR by many parties and their advocates, ADR has since gained widespread acceptance among both the public and the legal profession in contemporary years. In addition to this, courts now advice some parties to resort to ADR which includes mediation before approving the parties cases to be tried in court. The first practical use of alternative dispute resolution procedures began in the 1970s as a possible way for the disabling court backlogs and also a way to resolve environmental and natural resource disputes. In 1985, the Attorney General issued a directive identifying the need for ADR to drastically reduce the time and cost of litigation.

  • 55. Objective Lens Lab Report The objective lens gathers light and bends them to create an inverted real image. By using an objective lens with a diameter larger than the eyepiece lens, more light would get through the telescope. The eyepiece lens will then reflect back the image to form an inverted, magnified virtual image in front of ~. For this experiment, the formulas used are the lens equations 1/f = 1/di + 1/do to find the focal lengths of the lenses, M = fo/fe for the prediction of magnification, and M = Hi/Ho for the actual measurement of magnification. According to theory, a telescope consisting two convex lenses acting as objective and eyepiece lens will form an inverted, magnified and virtual image. From the pictures taken using the telescope, this theory has
