Salesforce began as a customer relationship management software and has grown into a cloud computing platform. It provides software as a service and platform as a service, including applications like Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Force.com for building custom applications. Salesforce uses a multi-tenant architecture allowing multiple customers to use a single instance of the software. It includes tools like Visualforce for customizing interfaces and Apex for adding business logic through code.

Virtualization and Cloud Computing World: An Introduction
The emergence of cloud computing and its increasing popularity have brought new benefits from very different industries (Buyya, Yeo, Venugopal, Broberg, and Brandic, 2009). Cloud computing can provide innovative solutions for the companies to reduce cost, improve service performance, and make rapid responses to business changes (Heinle & Strebel, 2010). The financial services industry is one of such industries that must react very agilely to changes and thus can be an eligible consumer of cloud computing.
For the traditional on premise model, financial institutions have their own datacenters, hosting and maintenance of infrastructure, whereas cloud computing - like any IT outsourcing - transfers the responsibilities to the service provider (Duisberg et al., 2011).
Cloud computing is an emerging area that affects IT infrastructure, network services, and applications. Part 1 of this article introduces various aspects of cloud computing, including the rationale, underlying models, and infrastructures.
The term "cloud computing" has different connotations for IT professionals, depending upon their point of view and often their own products and offerings. As with all emerging areas, real-world deployments and customer success stories will generate a better understanding of the term. This discussion starts with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) definition:
"Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction."Major Models in Cloud Computing
Although there is broad agreement on these models, there are variations based on specific vendor offerings—not surprising during these early days of cloud computing.
Software as a Service
Consider the case of an enterprise with its set of software licenses for the various applications it uses. These applications could be in human resources, finance, or customer relationship management, to name a few. Instead of obtaining desktop and server licenses for software products it uses, an enterprise can obtain the same functions through a hosted service from a provider through a network connection. The interface to the software is usually through a web browser. This common cloud-computing model is known as Software as a Service (SaaS) or a hosted software model; the provider is known as the SaaS Provider.
SaaS saves the complexity of software installation, maintenance, upgrades, and patches (for example, for security fixes) for the IT team within the enterprise, because the software is now managed centrally at the SaaS provider's facilities. Also, the SaaS provider can provide this service to multip.

First Steps with Globus Compute Multi-User EndpointsGlobus
In this presentation we will share our experiences around getting started with the Globus Compute multi-user endpoint. Working with the Pharmacology group at the University of Auckland, we have previously written an application using Globus Compute that can offload computationally expensive steps in the researcher's workflows, which they wish to manage from their familiar Windows environments, onto the NeSI (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) cluster. Some of the challenges we have encountered were that each researcher had to set up and manage their own single-user globus compute endpoint and that the workloads had varying resource requirements (CPUs, memory and wall time) between different runs. We hope that the multi-user endpoint will help to address these challenges and share an update on our progress here.

How to Position Your Globus Data Portal for Success Ten Good PracticesGlobus
Science gateways allow science and engineering communities to access shared data, software, computing services, and instruments. Science gateways have gained a lot of traction in the last twenty years, as evidenced by projects such as the Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) and the Center of Excellence on Science Gateways (SGX3) in the US, The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and its platforms in Australia, and the projects around Virtual Research Environments in Europe. A few mature frameworks have evolved with their different strengths and foci and have been taken up by a larger community such as the Globus Data Portal, Hubzero, Tapis, and Galaxy. However, even when gateways are built on successful frameworks, they continue to face the challenges of ongoing maintenance costs and how to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community they serve with enhanced features. It is not uncommon that gateways with compelling use cases are nonetheless unable to get past the prototype phase and become a full production service, or if they do, they don't survive more than a couple of years. While there is no guaranteed pathway to success, it seems likely that for any gateway there is a need for a strong community and/or solid funding streams to create and sustain its success. With over twenty years of examples to draw from, this presentation goes into detail for ten factors common to successful and enduring gateways that effectively serve as best practices for any new or developing gateway.
Understanding Globus Data Transfers with NetSageGlobus
NetSage is an open privacy-aware network measurement, analysis, and visualization service designed to help end-users visualize and reason about large data transfers. NetSage traditionally has used a combination of passive measurements, including SNMP and flow data, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, to provide longitudinal network performance data visualization. It has been deployed by dozens of networks world wide, and is supported domestically by the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), NSF #2328479. We have recently expanded the NetSage data sources to include logs for Globus data transfers, following the same privacy-preserving approach as for Flow data. Using the logs for the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) as an example, this talk will walk through several different example use cases that NetSage can answer, including: Who is using Globus to share data with my institution, and what kind of performance are they able to achieve? How many transfers has Globus supported for us? Which sites are we sharing the most data with, and how is that changing over time? How is my site using Globus to move data internally, and what kind of performance do we see for those transfers? What percentage of data transfers at my institution used Globus, and how did the overall data transfer performance compare to the Globus users?
SOCRadar Research Team: Latest Activities of IntelBrokerSOCRadar
The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) has suffered an alleged data breach after a notorious threat actor claimed to have exfiltrated data from its systems. Infamous data leaker IntelBroker posted on the even more infamous BreachForums hacking forum, saying that Europol suffered a data breach this month.
The alleged breach affected Europol agencies CCSE, EC3, Europol Platform for Experts, Law Enforcement Forum, and SIRIUS. Infiltration of these entities can disrupt ongoing investigations and compromise sensitive intelligence shared among international law enforcement agencies.
However, this is neither the first nor the last activity of IntekBroker. We have compiled for you what happened in the last few days. Climate Science Flows: Enabling Petabyte-Scale Climate Analysis with the Eart...Globus
The Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) is a global network of data servers that archives and distributes the planet’s largest collection of Earth system model output for thousands of climate and environmental scientists worldwide. Many of these petabyte-scale data archives are located in proximity to large high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing resources, but the primary workflow for data users consists of transferring data, and applying computations on a different system. As a part of the ESGF 2.0 US project (funded by the United States Department of Energy Office of Science), we developed pre-defined data workflows, which can be run on-demand, capable of applying many data reduction and data analysis to the large ESGF data archives, transferring only the resultant analysis (ex. visualizations, smaller data files). In this talk, we will showcase a few of these workflows, highlighting how Globus Flows can be used for petabyte-scale climate analysis.

Why React Native as a Strategic Advantage for Startup Innovation.pdfayushiqss
Do you know that React Native is being increasingly adopted by startups as well as big companies in the mobile app development industry? Big names like Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest have already integrated this robust open-source framework.
In fact, according to a report by Statista, the number of React Native developers has been steadily increasing over the years, reaching an estimated 1.9 million by the end of 2024. This means that the demand for this framework in the job market has been growing making it a valuable skill.
But what makes React Native so popular for mobile application development? It offers excellent cross-platform capabilities among other benefits. This way, with React Native, developers can write code once and run it on both iOS and Android devices thus saving time and resources leading to shorter development cycles hence faster time-to-market for your app.
Let’s take the example of a startup, which wanted to release their app on both iOS and Android at once. Through the use of React Native they managed to create an app and bring it into the market within a very short period. This helped them gain an advantage over their competitors because they had access to a large user base who were able to generate revenue quickly for them.

Globus Compute wth IRI Workflows - GlobusWorld 2024Globus
As part of the DOE Integrated Research Infrastructure (IRI) program, NERSC at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and ALCF at Argonne National Lab are working closely with General Atomics on accelerating the computing requirements of the DIII-D experiment. As part of the work the team is investigating ways to speedup the time to solution for many different parts of the DIII-D workflow including how they run jobs on HPC systems. One of these routes is looking at Globus Compute as a way to replace the current method for managing tasks and we describe a brief proof of concept showing how Globus Compute could help to schedule jobs and be a tool to connect compute at different facilities.

2. Introduction
•Salesforce is originally a Customer Relationship
Management (CRM) software.
•CRM is originally software for managing customer
interaction, such as scheduling tasks, emailing,
texting, and many more tasks.
•Salesforce grew into a cloud software solution and
acquired several other companies for Paas and
Saas.
3. Competing Products
lFor Google Apps, there is the Google App
Engine,https://developers.google.com/appengine/
lFor Microsoft, there is Microsft
Azure,http://azure.microsoft.com/
lFor Amazon, there is Amazon Elastic Compute
Cloud EC2,http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/
4. Platform as a Service
Platform as a service (PaaS) is a category of cloud
computing services that provides a computing
platform and a solution stack as a service. The
provider provides the networks, servers, storage,
and other services that are required to host the
consumer's application
5. Software as a Service
Software as a service (SaaS) is a software
distribution model in which applications are hosted
by a vendor or service provider and made available
to customers over a network, typically the Internet.
6. Subscription
Has a pay as you go subscription model

7. Introducing Force.com
lForce.com is a cloud computing platform as a
service system from Salesforce.com,that
developers use to build multitenant applications
hosted on their servers as a service.
lSalesforce.com is the Sales Cloud for ready-to-use
products for CRM.
lForce.com does not expose the underlying
infrastructure.
8. Multi-tenancy
Multi-tenancy refers to a principle in software
architecture where a single instance of the
software runs on a server, serving multiple client-
organizations (tenants). Multitenancy contrasts
with multi-instance architectures where separate
software instances (or hardware systems) operate
on behalf of different client organizations.
10. Chatter
Chatter is a brand-new way to collaborate at work.
Because status information about people and
important projects is automatically pushed to you,
Chatter makes it easy to connect with the people
and information you care about most.
13. Salesforce
Salesforce is also 3-tier, but many of the internals are
handled through abstraction. There are:
1) Out-of-box interfaces, which include security,
dashboards, workflow, and user interfaces. Coding is
optional.
2) VisualForce is an editor for customization of User
Interfaces if not out-of-box.
3) Apex, using the developer console, is for writing code to
the Salesforce API, for example a SOAP or batch
application for importing custom data.
14. VisualForce
Visualforce is a framework that allows developers
to build sophisticated, custom user interfaces that
can be hosted natively on the Force.com platform.
The Visualforce framework includes a tag-based
markup language, similar to HTML, and a set of
server-side “standard controllers” that make basic
database operations, such as queries and saves,
very simple to perform.
17. Apex
Apex is a strongly typed, object-oriented
programming language that allows developers to
execute flow and transaction control statements on
the Force.com platform server in conjunction with
calls to the Force.com API. Using syntax that looks
like Java and acts like database stored procedures,
Apex enables developers to add business logic.
19. AppExchange
Launched in 2005, AppExchange is a marketplace
for cloud computing Web application built for the
Salesforce.com community.
Some modules are free and some require a license
fee.
Examples of modules are Google Mail and Android
connectors.
