Rough Draft Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Rough Draft Essay" is an intriguing but challenging
endeavor. The paradox lies in the seemingly straightforward nature of the topic; after all, a rough
draft is typically considered the initial, unpolished version of an essay. However, delving into the
complexities of the writing process itself can unveil layers of intricacies that might not be
immediately apparent.
To begin with, the very essence of a rough draft suggests imperfection. It is a preliminary
attempt, a raw exploration of ideas and thoughts. Capturing the essence of this phase while
maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative requires a delicate balance. Writers must navigate
the fine line between expressing their ideas authentically and avoiding the pitfalls of incoherence.
Additionally, the challenge lies in the introspective aspect of the essay. Writing about one's own
writing process demands a level of self-awareness that can be both enlightening and challenging.
Unveiling the decision-making behind each word, sentence, and paragraph forces the writer to
confront their creative choices, providing readers with a transparent view of the author's
intellectual journey.
Moreover, the challenge extends beyond the personal realm. Exploring the broader implications
of the rough draft in the context of writing as a whole involves delving into the creative
processes of renowned authors, the evolution of literary works, and the ever-evolving landscape
of language and expression. This analytical depth requires extensive research and a keen eye for
detail.
In essence, the difficulty in composing an essay on the topic of "Rough Draft Essay" lies in the
need to simultaneously navigate the intimate process of personal creation and the broader
landscape of literary evolution. It is a task that demands introspection, research, and a profound
understanding of the delicate dance between chaos and order in the creative realm.
And remember, if grappling with such an essay becomes too daunting, there's always the option
to seek assistance. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, providing
a helping hand to navigate the intricacies of academic and creative writing.

The United States Faces Security Challenges
The United States faces several national security challenges. For one, it has
seemingly lost its leadership role in space activities. Other countries, such as China,
are ramping up investments in space, while NASA s budget is at a historic low as a
share of the overall federal budget. Return on investments in space technology has
benefitted the civilian space program and the military alike. U.S. military operations
and intelligence collection rely on space systems and access to these capabilities
must be assured . Ironically, there is a concern of congestion in space with over 60
nations and government consortia operating satellites in addition to academic and
commercial operators. There is an increase of anti satellite testing... Show more

space activities. Adversaries could deduct from this report that lack of an
overarching U.S. space strategy may mean gaps in capabilities between these
stakeholders. Identifying those gaps and exploiting them is an attack of the strategy
or more accurately stated, a lack of strategy. The United Statespublished its first
National Security Space Strategy by means of an unclassified summary in January
2011. The document contains strategic objectives, approaches and implementation
information. The strategy carries a consistent theme of partnering, collaboration and
sharing of capabilities, data, services, and technology with allies, international
organizations, and commercial firms. The relationship with partners in space is so
valued that we will seek to access their capabilities if U.S. systems are degraded or
unavailable . U.S. adversaries could use this information in many ways. They could
watch for indicators of whether we are truly following the strategy. What would it
mean if an opportunity arose to partner with another nation for the sharing of
information or capabilities and the U.S. did not enter into that relationship? This
information potentially gives adversaries a space strategy to confirm or deny versus
forcing them to build an estimate of our strategy.
As pointed out in the National Security Space Strategy, the U.S. seeks to partner with
commercial firms. One of our
Material And Methods Of The Genes And Identify The...
Materials and Methods
Specific Aim #1: Pick chromatophore phenotypes and identify the candidate genes
that might cause these changes. 1.1 Introduction. Betta splendens have many
unique chromatophore phenotypes that were given risen from many years of
evolution and breeding. However, there has been no research centered around the
genes that might mediate these unique phenotypes. The first thing to do is to pick
two specific chromatophore phenotypes and see if the candidate genes, fms, mifta,
pax 3, and pax 7, are mutated differently in their coding sequences, from one
phenotype to another. Here, degenerative PCR will be used to amplify sequences
of the genes that are unknown, with primers designed off of protein sequences
from related species. These PCR sequences will be cloned into plasmids and
transformed into E. coli. cells. The plasmids that carry the candidate genes will be
purified and sent off for sequencing. Once sequence data has returned, more betta
specific primers will be designed, and more PCR reactions will be ran. Finally, the
results of those will be sequenced and then compared among the other sequences to
look for coding variations. 1.2 Research Design. 1.2.1 Run Degenerative PCR and
clone out some or all of the sequence. Blood will be extracted from the caudal tail
fin tissue of two different betta splendens, which will provide purified DNA, after
using the DNeasy Blood and Tissue Kit (Qiagen) as previously described by (Carlson
et al. 2015). This
What Is The Stranger In The Nest Essay
What is that makes us who really we are ? There is no doubt that identity defines
who we are. All over the world, all scientist and people want to understand that things
affect our identity. There are two main reasons that affect us. These are our family
and friends (nurture) and our genetics (nature). However some people think that there
is another more complicated answer. People think about this situation because they
wonder why their children become strangers. David Cohen who is a psychologist
and also writer of Stranger in the Nest he claims genetics(nature) is the most effective
impact in our identity. I agree with Cohen about genetics have big influence on
identity and for making children strangers to their families because of the evidence in
the twin studies. In the Stranger in the Nest, David Cohen says that genetic factors
have the most important role on why children become strangers to their families. He
explains genetics factors importance and tries to confute parental effect. He shows a
study about why genetics have most important affect. For instance, he thinks that
most mental illness is not caused by parental impacts or abusive... Show more content

Cohen uses nurture side reasons in his article Stranger in the Nest and he tries to
confuse them. Supporters of nurture side claim that Most mental illness is caused
by dysfunctional parenting or by stressful social conditions (Cohen 3). According to
Twins studies, when one identical twin is diagnosed with autism, we can find there
is about a 70 percent chance the other will be too. If we seriously research genetic
factor s effect on our identity, also we can find the same answer. It means many of
our habits come from our family genetics. At the end of the this research, it helps to
understand why our children become stranger to their family, answer of this question
is that genetics factors have a big responsibility on our
Bureaucratic Standardization In Foxconn Factory
Lastly, bureaucratic standardization could not be neglected in the suicide tragedy in
Foxconn. This essay will analyze how the strict standardization influences Foxconn
factory. Pun and Chan (2012: 38) have found that a frontline worker in Foxconn
factory must finish 5 tasks in 10 seconds, so each task only takes 2 seconds to
complete in an assembly line. They (2012: 38) also explain that Foxconn factory uses
non human technology, like stopwatches and industrial electronic devices to monitor
frontline workers, in order to ensure the output target. Setting strict standardizationfor
production is a practice of just in time method, aiming to maximize productions and
keep workers under close surveillance. Furthermore, every employee in Foxconn
factory is designed and predicted in a standard way to perform their own duty. For
example, workers in assembly lines have been trained to follow fixed steps in
manufacturing process. Although leaders and managers in Foxconn factory believe
that strict standardization ensures bureaucratic efficiency, frontline workers feel
themselves as parts of the machines or even lower than the machines. (Pun and Chan,
2012: 38) This essay explains that the whole process in Foxconn factory runs like
machines, which does dehumanization to some extent and demotivates innovation
among employees. (Grey, 2013, p.87) To conclude, bureaucratic standardization
partly leads to the jumping event in Foxconn factory.

Essay On Remembrance Day
The History of Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day is a day of memorial observed all around the world. Since the
end of World War I, the Commonwealth of Nations have looked at November 11th
as a day to remember those who fought for our countries, to protect their citizens,
and protect our freedom. Without these brave soldiers, we wouldn t have the
opportunity to do many things we do today, and our world would be very different.
The history of this day is very important for people all around the world to
understand, and observe, to show their gratitude for those who have risked their lives
for us. Important points in the history of Remembrance Day is the beginning of the
recognition, how it is observed in different nations and the importance of the
symbolic poppy flower.
First of all, the recognition of Remembrance Day is annual on November 11th
because of the end of World War I. The official end of World War I was set for the
11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month (11:00 am, November 11th). After WWI,
the British Commonwealth began noticing this day as Armistice Day , to
commemorate the day the signing of the armistice. In 1919, King George V chose
to continue the tradition of remembering those who have risked or lost their lives
for us. Since then, the formal name for this day of memorial has been Remembrance
Day . This day is informally known as Poppy Day . As well as the Commonwealth,
countries outside of this organization began to recognize this day of
Ireland s Reluctant Release Of Power
Ireland s Reluctant Release of Power
Freedom and jurisdiction over what makes up your country is never fully appreciated
until it is taken away by another country that thinks they can do it better and more
efficiently. Ireland was conquered by the United Kingdom in what seemed to Ireland
as a barbaric, and unwarranted way. Ireland s was made up of a vast majority of
Catholics that came to regard their religion as their safe haven when Britain ventured
to conform them to new beliefs in every aspect of their lives. Ireland s beliefs,
religions, and political values were extremely valued and stationary in the way they
clung to these ideologies up until the Protestants began their colonization. Britain
came with the intentions of reforming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The early Normans entered Ireland with the solicitation of Diarmad MacMurrough,
Leinster s king. People in distinction to a province in northern France, known as the
Normans, colonized England, a portion of Wales, along with Italy in the eleventh
century. ( Northern Ireland: The Omagh Bomb, Nationalism, and Religion ) From an
initial point, politics and religion stood as reminders of contrasting sides of the
strife. The religious and political association determined that both sides possessed a
solid sense of belief in their own cause. ( Northern Ireland: The Omagh Bomb,
Nationalism, and Religion ) From an early stage, there were instigators such as
religion and politics that pinpointed the very reason so many lives were lost. The
segmentation of the island into two political bodies is the result of a lengthy
course of British rule, going back to 1171, when King Henry II announced himself
Ireland s king. ( Irish .) Finally, the English composed the majority of the island. The
power was held in the hands of a British king, therefore resulting in Britain having
the first, last and every word in between as far as religion and politics were
concerned, but this was not being taken lightly with Irish natives now under British
rule. Northern discrimination did not amount to true tyranny to anyone with a
knowledge of history, and was softened in its impact by
Statistics Experiment Essay
Statistics Experiment
For my maths coursework I will be conducting an investigation into statistics. I had
a choice for this coursework of both statistics on year 10 to 11 school children, and
facts about them and also their likes in terms of sport and subjects at school. I
chose not to do this project on that information; instead I chose data on 100
different cars, the reason for this is that I like cars more and may perhaps pursue it
as a career. I did not want to do a project on data that I have no interest in.
The 100 different cars have data under the following headings, Car number in order
from 1 to 100, the make of the car, the price when new of the car, the current second
hand price, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For my coursework I will be hopefully conducting a total of 3 different
investigations into this survey, though this may change to 2 or 4. My aim is to
look for a correlation in the separate investigations and perhaps if I can draw any
conclusions or maybe find a formula or prediction for a particular investigation that
will work for all or most cars. E.g. if from mileage, price when new and age I can
calculate the current second hand price.
My investigation will be:
The frequency of mileage in my sample, if there is a relationship between the second
hand price and age of a car, and finally if there is relationship between the age and
percentage loss of a car.
I will be taking a sample of 20 cars; I will take every 5th car in the database. I will
show the data in terms of tables, a tally chart, and by way of bar, and scatter graphs
with a line of best fit if applicable.
To improve my investigation I will take a sample of 5 cars, which will not be
included in my final investigation, but this 5 car sample is to test my investigation
techniques, and to allow me to foresee and problems and practise in investigating
statistics.
I will not be able to take all 100 cars and will have to do my investigations on
different samples of the survey, I hope to take 1/5 of the cars, and I will do my
investigations on 20 cars. I
Polyethylene Terephthalate Vs. PLA
PET(Polyethylene Terephthalate) vs PLA(Polylactide), which one is better or
worse than the other? Both of these polymer is used in the world today. PET is
perhaps the more famous one because of its cheap prices and many uses. 30 % of
the global demand for PET happens to be plastic bottles. PLA the other type of
polymer is just now gaining momentum being used as a bottle in the market today.
It is derived from renewable resources (corn) that we can regrow a lot easier than
the polymer that we harvest from trees. In my opinion I think there are a few more
pros for PET then there are for PLA. We use some sort of PET merchandise every
day. Polyethylene Terephthalate is a strong, lightweight plastic resin and form of
polyester that closely resembles glass in clarity .... PET is commonly used in food
packaging due to its strong barrier properties against water vapor... PET is also
shatter resistant, slightly flexible and easy to recycle (Alpha). As stated above we
use PET in everything that you can think of. If you have a bottle around you, look at
the bottom, if it says 1 in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are made by Fermenting corn to produce lactic acid, which is then
polymerized to make polylactic acid (Hitachi). It can be made into almost anything
that PET can be made into. It also does it with about 68 percent less fossil fuel
resources. Making it one of the few green material. PLA also shares a lot of the
same characteristics as PET. One that only PLA has is that it is bio degradable.
The con of PLA is that it is not recyclable everywhere. There are only a few places
that are capable of breaking down the polymer. One would think that it can just
degrade anywhere; however, they require special chemicals to allow it to break
down. So you cannot just throw it out in your yard and expect it to be gone within
weeks or months. Being bio degradable still makes it better for the environment then
PET. Especially if both the PET and PLA are not

For many investors, especially from eastern markets, such uncertainty is actually
business as usual. [pic]
To stay competitive, international investors have opted to push ahead with business
development. Despite the recent and ongoing economic volatility, Europe remains the
world s largest single market, and the magnetic attraction of its 500 million
highspending consumers, together with a stable and transparent legal and regulatory
environment, remain powerful draws for investors (Ernst Young s, 2012)
Short European hotels market overview There is no doubt that the Eurozone crisis,
the malaise in the banking sector and political upheaval in the Arab world pose
persistent challenges for the hotel industry. At the same time, leading industry
players are adapting and learning to live with uncertainty. Business confidence in
the largest European economies is beginning to stabilize, because people think the
worst case scenario in the Eurozone is unlikely. After the improved transaction
levels in 2010, the volume of hotel sales in Europe increased further in 2011 by 9
%, to a total investment of about 7.1 billion Euro (HVS, 2012) The Europe hotel
industry posted mixed results in year over year metrics when reported in U.S.
dollars, euros and British pounds for September 2012, according to data compiled by
STR Global, the leading provider of market data to the hotel industry.

God Grew Tired Of Us
A refugee is a person who was forced to leave their country. Whether it be from
warfare or natural disaster, their homes are no longer safe to live in, so they need to
relocate elsewhere. Once someone sets foot on the journey of becoming a refugee,
they become vulnerable and dependent with no sense of what the future will bring. In
an attempt to accommodate them, first world countries with the resources necessary
to assist these refugees, are struggling to determine whether or not they should step in
and help. Some argue that taking them in could come with excessive consequences,
while others believe they could be assets. Although there may be a few consequences,
they are outweighed by the benefits and undeniable severity of the situation.... Show

When relocating to a new country, a refugee must get used to a new culture while
suppressing their own. Not to mention, they have to live knowing that they left
their family and friends behind in a dangerous environment. They are stuck with
the burden of not knowing whether or not their relatives are still alive. Having to
live day after day with these weights on your shoulder would be a detriment to
anyone s emotional health. In the documentary, God Grew Tired of Us, John Dau,
a Syrian refugee came to America where he was able to live in an apartment, get a
job, and receive an education. He went from living outdoors with no idea of what
tomorrow will bring, to living in an air conditioned apartment with a chance to
build a future, yet Dau still wasn t happy. He found himself missing his homeland
and the friends and family he had left behind. Refugees face a multitude of
emotional stress when starting their new lives, everything has changed for them and
sometimes it can be too much to handle. Knowing they left vulnerable loved ones
behind, while they get to start anew can make it hard to enjoy their chance at
happiness. Along with the distress that comes with being on your own, the different
customs and societal values can be difficult on a refugee. They may need to
abandon old traditions or even hide a part of their identity that wouldn t be seen as
normal in their new location. A constant sense of loneliness along with living in a
new area where you don t quite fit in can be emotionally stressful for
Christian Building Codes Book Report
This story makes a lot of sense to people who live in the Caribbean or other storms
and hurricanes prone countries. The governments of these countries insist that
houses and other buildings are not erected in low lying or flood prone areas. There
are also strict building codes that must be adhered to. People neglect these
warnings at their own peril, for it is certain that in spite of how long it might take,
the hurricanes are sure come. They will test the buildings and only those that were
properly built, that is, only those that adhere to the codes will survive. The same is

is like a wise man who built his house on the rock . It did not say on a rock but on
The Rock. Many persons misguidedly hinge themselves against the storms of life
on things or persons. Some believe that their money, education, possessions,
family, friends, personal contacts, counsellors, psychologists and others will
guarantee their survival. You will not survive on a rock you will survive on the
rock and this rock is Jesus. The famous hymn says On Christ the solid rock I stand,
all other grounds is sinking sand Jesus is the rock on whom we stand and it is our
faith in him and our obedience to his word that will keep us through the storms of
life. The ability to stand during these times does not come from within us or from
any other source around us; it comes from Christ the solid rock on which we stand.
Understanding this is the foundation for all preparation one can possible make for
the shipwrecks of life. Store Spiritual resources for later use Interesting lessons about
survival can be learnt from the camel. Camels will survive on the roughest and the

Camera Lucid Reflections Of Photography
What the Photograph reproduces to infinity has occurred only once: the
Photograph mechanically repeats what could never be repeated existentially,
Roland Barthes stated in his book Camera Lucida: Reflections of Photography.
Photography is the key to capturing a moment in time that will not reoccur again.
You can try, but it will not be that exact moment you once saw before. A camera is
a very powerful tool. It allows the artist to use it to display and present their
message they are trying to get across to their audience and artistic view. A
photograph will keep time frozen and allow us the audience to re experience
whenever we want to. The reason I mention stopping time is because in the image
named Carmen photographed by Richard Avedon he did just that. This photograph is
of a woman jumping over a puddle. Richard Avedon stopped time and created this
fashion and street image all in one, quite beautiful may I add. Many people can try to
recreate this image but never will they get the exact leap. From photographing
identification cards for the merchant marines, making it all the way into the fashion
world, the iconic American photographer, Richard Avedon. He was best known for
his fashion photographyas well as his large scale character revealing portraits. After
he served two years in the merchant marines he then studied photography under
Alexey Brodovitch who was the art director of Harper s Bazaar. Excelling
tremendously, Richard Avedon created elegant black and white
Analyzing The Vision Of Short Term Lenders Essay
In early 2011 unemployment was rising, economic growth was stagnating, and
families were panicking about making ends meet, all while legal loan sharks were
circling the poor. With consumer credit becoming less available, and banks more
rigorous in lending to consumers, there has been an increase of payday loans and
short term lenders representing sub prime lending bussinesses. These institutions
specialize in offering fast cash and fast loans, both of which are strongly advertised
via different media platforms such as a website, television, andradio stations(Aldohni,
2013). Desperate consumers seeking these short term financial solutions often end up
with long term financial disasters. The promise of easy credit without a credit history
does not come cheap;sometimes costing consumers an Annual Percentage Rate
(APR) of as much as 4000 percent. Calculating the terms of loans using a risk based
pricing system, subprime lenders are able to generate varying interestrates of which
they offer to borrowers with varying credit histories.(Investopedia).
Aldohni (2013) examines the vision of short term lenders, drawing on the legal and
conceptual changes in the United Kingdom s consumer credit sector that aided their
spread. He arges two main ponts: 1) the first of which is that short term lenders are
no different from loan sharks, and 2) that the legal system fails to provide protection
for vulnerable credit consumers. Also, according to Aldohni (2013) changes were
witnessed to the
Olive Oil Chromatography Lab Report
The experimental densities were quite close to the true/theoretical densities
throughout all the solids. Aluminium had an experimental value of 3g. and a
theoretical value of 2.7 (Coolmagnetman.com, 2017), causing it to have an 11%
percentage error. This percent error is invalid as it is over 10%, therefore not precise
enough to draw accurate and reliable conclusions from. This consequently means that
the experimental and theoretical density do not represent each other. The percent
error in the experiment (11%) is due to random error/s as it is lower than the percent
uncertainty (80%). Random errors are due to uncontrollable variables in the
experiment such as restrictions of the measuring apparatus, but can be reduced by a
higher number of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Olive oil both had an experimental density of 0.92and theoretical density of 0.92
(Hypertextbook.com, 2017). As a result, olive oil had an exceptionally accurate
percentage error of 0%, and means that the experimental and theoretical density
precisely represent each other. Therefore, this data is highly valid (0 5%) and can
be used to draw accurate and reliable conclusions from. Due to the lack of
percentage error, there is no random or systematic errors present. Although this data
may in fact be inaccurate as there is a wide range of different brands and versions of
olive oil, and both the experimental and theoretical data weren t based on the exact
bottle of olive oil. Both density experiments could have been completed at different
climates/temperatures at the time of data collection. Additionally, the data was
rounded at many points throughout the experiment to obey the rules of significant
figures, losing the accuracy of the data. Ethanol (rubbing alcohol), obtained an
experimental density of 0.76 and a theoretical density of 0.78 (Ausetute.com.au,
2017). Subsequently, ethanol received a small percentage error of 2.6% because,
even though the difference in density was 0.02, in ratio it is larger due to the small
density. This data is highly valid as it is between 0 5% percentage error, meaning it
can be used to draw very close to accurate and reliable conclusions from. The
percentage error (2.6%) is smaller than the percent uncertainty (7.9%) and therefore
means that the error was due to a random error. Random errors result from
uncontrollable elements/variables unavoidable in the experiment, which in this case
would be the limitations of the measuring apparatus. It can never be fully eliminated
but can be reduced by an increased number of trials. However, the experimental and
theoretical densities may have been accomplished at different temperatures and the
densities
The Strongest Song Of Kintsugi s Black Sun
When I heard the first single off of Kintsugi, Black Sun , I have to say I was
concerned. Between the overproduction and the sloppy lo fi guitar solo, well, lets
just say doubts were forming. However, my optimism has paid off, because in my
opinion Black Sun was the weakest song on the album. Kintsugi is the best Death
Cab album since Transatlanticism, featuring guitar melodies that hearken back to the
best Death Cab album: We Have the Facts and We re Voting Yes. While, yes, I liked
this album, I take major issue with the widespread claims that frontman Ben Gibbard
has gotten his writing skills back. The early Death Cab albums, like Kintsugi,
focused on failed relationships and pining over ideal romances; however, the writing
on these (Something About Airplanes, We Have the Facts..., and The Photo Album)
is significantly more indirect. Kintsugi s writing is filled with relationship issues
portrayed a bit too directly for the tone of the music.... Show more content on

Evolution Of Religion In World History
The evolution of religion in world history has been a fascinating journey to say the
least. So many of us profess to be a part of a certain religion but yet we don t
understand how it came to be. By unraveling the beginnings of today s major
religions, we can gain a better understanding and appreciation of religions around the
world. Just as everyone is special and unique so too are the various religions. It s
important to understand and respect whatever beliefs others may have no matter if
we agree with them or not. Religionhas greatly evolved over the centuries. Many
scholars and experts believe the earliest form of religion was due to our own fears.
(PBS, np). Primitive man had many fears every day. Fear of weather, prey, and...

the negatives in life. If we can solve the negatives in our life and have a path of

Polarization In Politics
The implications of these impacts are likely to be widespread and influence many
areas related to the American political system. At this point I will turn to examining
research strategies to examine the potential implications of each of these three shifts
in four areas, public participation at local levels, interest group control over
information, media frames regarding polarization, and policy feedback in the absence
of policy actions.
The shift in policy focus from the Federal level to the state level on a number of
issues raises questions about the quality of representation in regards to these policies.
The nationalization of House elections, and the use of state legislatures to redraw
district lines call into question the representative nature of the process that permits
these incidents to occur. Perhaps it is simply that the election of Republicans to
numerous state legislatures represented public wishes to reshape the electoral system
of the country at large.
To determine if these local elections are being driven primarily by a small group of
individuals that is radically different from the population in general, the
characteristics of those who turn out to vote at local elections should be compared to
those that turnout in national elections. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The increasing combative polarization illustrated by Abromowitz and Webster
(2015), along with the evaluation of party identification as a type of social identity
(Iyangar et al. 2012) increasingly points to a view of political parties as opponents
rather than colleagues. Highly polarized political elites can override media frames
(Druckman et al., 2013), indicting that the battle between parties may be more than
simply a debate about ideas. The gridlock and shift toward obstructionism
exacerbates this, by providing media with an easily adaptable frame of combative

Military Drinking Age
Drinking Age of the Military: Should it be Lowered
Jason M. Stoudt
DeVry University
The drinking age in the military is currently set at 21 years old as it is set for the
rest of the country. There has been an age old statement widely used by those in
the military, If I am old enough to fight and die for my country, I should be old
enough to drink . The debate is out there that the drinking age should be lowered
for all young adults from 18 years old to 21 years old. The idea behind the fact that
younger people tend to have less responsibility and are not good candidates for
being allowed to drink is a valid point. Those serving in the military are different in
that respect for the fact that they have more responsibilities than that ... Show more

One of the examples that is used to show that lowering the drinking age to 18 years
of age is a bad thing is a panel that was done in 1975 to 1993. In this panel they
surveyed 39 states that had lowered the drinking age to 18 yrs old between the
1970 s and the 1980 s. The mortality rate for those states included in the study
showed that once the drinking age was lowered the fatality rate from motor
vehicle accidents had risen substantially; most of the fatal accidents were at night.
When the drinking age was raised back to 21 years old the fatality rate had
dropped back to a lower level as it had before the age was lowered. The
documentation shows that when those that are 18 to 21 years old are allowed to
drink the death rate from alcohol consumption in motor vehicle accidents are
raised. Now the death rate for those that are over the age of 21 years old has
increased slightly only due to the fact that the younger population now allowed to
drink has been introduced into the equation (Carpenter Dobkin, 2011). Simply
stating that because they are allowed to drink at 18 years old and that some of them
get into accidents with motor vehicles while intoxicated on alcohol is irrelevant in
the case that there is evidence in the report that those that are over 21 years old are
still getting into the same type of accidents. Also considering the level of technology
that is current in the world today
The Role Of Immigrants In Animal Crackers And Annie
Hall
The role of the immigrant as an American cultural figure cannot be understated, and
the cultural values associated with immigrant versus non immigrant Jews in
particular are primarily class values. However, even once assimilated and wealthy,
upper class Jews face a difficult situational dichotomy: Whether to join the high
minded literati (a category that Jews helped shape in America) or the more vulgar
entrepreneurial class. The anxieties associated with Jewish history complicate this
choice, and its consequences are echoed in many films, including Animal Crackers
and Annie Hall. Perhaps the dichotomy between the high minded wealthy Jew and
the vulgar wealthy Jew can be most clearly seen by looking at Jack and Harry
Warner. As profiled in Gabler s Between the Old Life and the New, Harry Warner
was a devoted family man, lived a quiet life... a stern moralist who would
eventually assume the role of moral adjudicator to his entire family. He was also a
more observant Jew, and less religiously assimilated. Jack, meanwhile, was a
veteran provocateur who incited everyone, regarded as a frustrated comedian who
liked nothing better than telling very bad jokes in a loud voice, and seemed to
enjoy creating embarrassment. He also repeatedly refused any religious
instruction. In some sense, Jack could be seen as assimilated while Harry could be
seen as defiantly Jewish. But it would be just as easy to paint the opposite picture:
Despite their religious differences, Harry put effort into coming across as a member
of high society, while Jack intentionally resisted and even opposed those norms.
Harry would often have to apologize for Jack, claiming he didn t have the advantages
of such a good education. Here, we see the beginning of the high minded/vulgar
dichotomy that would continue to separate wealthy Jews for the next century. The
Marx BrothersAnimal Crackers shows that this trope was already recognized in the
culture, and plays with the trope intentionally. When we first see Groucho Marx, he is
playing the role of Captain Spaulding, a rich adventurer returned from Africa. It s
never quite clear, in the film, to what extent Groucho is pretending to be Spaulding,
and to what extent he actually
Combatting Against Terrorism Essay
It is in human nature to harness aggression towards one another for the cause of
strong sentiments of religion and passion. Most people from differing cultures have
large disregard and disagreement for another person s cultural practices, and of
course this is no different with Terrorism. Although terrorism has dated back to the
1920 s as far as United States history goes, the 21st century has brought on a new age
of terrorismcomparable to the Red Scare of the 1950 s. The frequency of terroristic
threats and attacks in the 21st century outnumber the terroristic threats and attacks of
the eighty years prior to the beginning of the 21st century, exhibiting the unfortunate
fact that terrorism is a trending crime. Essentially, Terrorism has... Show more content

Terrorism usually has a political, religious, or ideological goal such as causing fear,
damage, and death for manipulation. The Boston Marathon Bombing is the most
recent major terrorist attack, as it took place on April 15th, 2014. A tragedy that
ended with the deaths of four U.S. citizens and more than 260 others, the Boston
Marathon Bombings were high magnitude terrorist attacks. The Boston Marathon
Bombings were caused by Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his alleged companion (and
brother) Tamerlan Tsarnaev, two Russian refugees whom immigrated to the United
States around 2002. Although their motives are mainly unknown, it is often
speculated that the brothers committed this crime in order to cause fear and chaos
to retaliate for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The attacks mainly consisted of
motives of payback towards the United States in return for the Muslim lives lost in
the wars mentioned above. The conclusion to the Boston Marathon Bombings came
on April 18th/ April 19th, 2013 in which 26 year old Tamerlan Tsarnaev was shot
down in a gunfight with police (killing one police officer in the process), and 19 year
old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev being injured in a gunfight and inevitably taken into custody
were he remains today. In essence, the Boston Marathon Bombings were one of the
largest terrorist attacks that United States citizens have experienced

FSBP 2020
The Army s First Sergeant s Barracks Program (FSBP) was first introduced in 2008
in an effort to standardize single Soldier housing management. Previously Army
units were responsible for the management of their allotted barracks spaces; however
this led to an underutilization of space and inconsistencies in the quality of living
conditions. This program moved forward after an incident at Fort Bragg, NC which
saw Soldiers returning from a 15 month deployment in Afghanistan to deplorable
living conditions. One father s video of his son s living conditions sparked outrage
and immediately drew the attention of the senate and congress. Immediately, senior
leaders across the Army were ordered to conduct a complete inspection of their living

One of the most important tasks that typically occurs on a daily basis is the
assignment and termination of the living quarters of Soldiers to a unit s barracks
footprint. This task is to be accomplished through the use of a system of record know
at the Army s Enterprise Military Housing (eMH) database. This internet based
program provides unit trained personnel with an effective tool to manage room
utilization for all barracks buildings assigned to each unit. My particular unit
requires enough space to accommodate housing for approximately 1000 single
/unaccompanied Soldiers. These 1000 Soldiers are represented across six
battalions (BN) and are housed in nine available barracks buildings. Battalions are
required to have a barracks manager with access to the eMH database in order to
properly manage housing assignments and termination for their Soldiers and
determine the eligibility of Soldiers to reside in the barracks; however this has failed
to happen. Currently there are only two personnel that are trained which leads to
Soldiers being assigned a room by their unit, with the unit not having the ability to
input this information into the system of record. While this may
Art and Nature in Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale
Essay
Art and Nature in Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale
In Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale , we see a jealous king convinced he is search of
the truth. He will expose his wife and her alleged philandering, but his determination
to prove this actually changes this search from one for truth to one for myths
creations, false truths. In essence. Leontes runs into the conflict of defining art versus
nature, where art is the view of the world he constructs to prove his paranoia true.
Nature itself can exist without art, but the art here is the mangled perception through
which Leontes will seek to define Nature. In summation, The Winter s Tale
investigates the conflict between art and nature creation versus enhancement and

In other words, the assumed unfaithfulness of his wife, will wreak havoc, like a
galactic body. This is a bizarre comparison a wife and her alleged infidelity to a
planet in outer space that will destruct in the name of vengeance. As bizarre as it
is, it accomplishes the task of enhancing the dichotomy of what is real and what is
a fabrication of imagination. Art, in The Winter s Tale is not merely expression
but creation over nature. As his paints a dramatically depressed view of reality, it
becomes clear how his perception of what is actually in nature has been heinously
corrupted because of a search for truth predicated on validating flippant worries.
He carries on: To mingle friendship far is mingling bloods. I have tremor cordis on
me. My heart dances, but not for joy, not joy. , showing the extent to which he
cannot see the truth what is actually present in nature, but also how manically
crazed he is. For example, Leontes seems to think nothing is odd about calling his
son into speak to him, and merely asking, Mamillius, art thou my boy? . His tone
here is light, and conveys this idea that not only is what he asking logical and
understandable but normal. It speaks volumes to art s influence on Leontes to make
him so selfish and wrapped up in his own desperate story.
Since The Winter s Tale is a grandiose character play, where Shakespearehimself
battles art and nature with characters that put on alter egos and defenses over
How Has Art Changed Throughout The Modern Time
Modernity represented a time period of human belief in rationality that lasted from
. A time period where everything was quantifiable and litteral. Artwork strived to
be as visually realistic as possible and it s quality was based on such. It also
included the idea that socially and politically, humans were advancing, and that they
would act rationally to benefit themselves and act in line with whatever class they
were in. And also that psychologically human beings are rational, and as such are
potentially able to understand everything in the universe, including themselves, and
eventually acquire infinite knowledge. Firstly artwork, during the modern period it
s primary goal was to achieve the most real picture as possible. As the camera hadn
t been invented yet and it was still the best method of capturing scenes. For example,
Mr and Mrs Andrews painted in 1750 that portrayed a wealthy couple overlooking
their land. The the quality of the paintings of this time were measured down to how
accurate the picture was and how obvious the artist s brush strokes weren t. These
scenes were usually focused on things that most people considered to be rational.

After this the focus of art shifted to depiction of an emotion or experience. An
example of this would be impressionism, which differed in 2 main ways. First it
focused on lower social classes, IE middle or low income, and their daily activities.
Secondly, the entire style of art had changed. These paintings were much more
expressive with a wider range of color and lighting, and often included subject matter
that was shocking to whoever viewed it. For example L Absynthe a painting
depicting a woman drinking a very potent alcoholic beverage in a
Contraception Coverage
People buy health insurance to cover their medical expenses because accidents and
health problems can arise at any time. Many health services are not reaching the

benefits from birth controland it is not just women trying to prevent unwanted
pregnancies. Some examples of these benefits include; healthier skin, stopping
menstrual flow, and preventing pelvic inflammatory disease. Society needs to be
more aware of these benefits so that these women start getting the medical attention
that they need. Therefore, birth control should be 100% covered by all insurance

What are the laws that are telling people they can t or can have coverage for much
needed prescriptions? Recently since President Barack Obama took office he
implemented a new era of health care coverage. He feels that all people should
have the right to affordable health care. As a part of the Affordable Care Act, the
federal government issued a rule that required health plans to cover contraception
without a co pay ( Challenges ). This created uproar across America that
contraception would be covered when so many Americans don t agree in
contraception at all. According to insurance coverage for contraception laws, over
10.7 million women in America use a type of oral contraception ( Insurance ). In
the state of Missouri as well as 25 other states contraception has been ruled on and

of contraception to end a pregnancy, such as the morning after pill ( Insurance ). So
each state has been dealing with their lawmakers to ensure state laws, however
President Obama has moved to make it a federal law. According to the new law set
forth by President Obama the only institutions that do not have to follow the same

Essay On Government Surveillance
Abstract
You are under surveillance right now. Everything that you search, and everywhere
that you go is being recorded and stored in a private corporation s warehouse, sitting
and waiting for it to be recalled and analyzed. In the past, information was much
more difficult to come by. Files were only made on individuals that have been
identified as suspects. Now with the help of personal laptops, cellphones and modern
technology, being watched has become so much simpler. No one is exempt from the
surveillance state that we live in today, and our freedom is paying the price.
Why do we have it? That s a question that crosses everyone minds. The people who
decided that there needed to be a watchdog hidden in our devices say that we need this

Governments want more power:
Government power is increasing on the Internet. There is more government
surveillance than ever before. There is more government censorship than ever before.
There is more government propaganda, and an increasing number of governments are
controlling what their users can and cannot do on the Internet. Totalitarian
governments are embracing a growing cyber sovereignty movement to further
consolidate their power. And the cyberwar arms race is on, pumping an enormous
amount of money into cyber weapons and consolidated cyber defenses, further
increasing government power.
Protection against terrorism:
The argument used by governments and other organizations is that to protect us
from terrorist they must watch our habits on and offline. At a quick glance, it seems
to make sense. Especially with the if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to

The general public think Mcdonald s meat is unhealthy, the school lunch meat is
even more sickly. A school s burger has a lot of unknown ingredients to the

obesity. But after reading what Leah Segedie mentioned, society may think that
school lunches might have moved up to the main reason for obesity for the younger
generations. A school lunch has up to 26 unneeded ingredients in one school burger,
and this needs to be fixed. In addition, there is no nutritious value in a single school

Significance Of Histone 3 Gene Family In Arabidopsis
Thaliana
It is fascinating to know that two meters of human DNA are packed inside в€

Вµm3 nucleus. How this amazing packing occurs in nature was a great mystery until
the discovery of nucleosome and its structural organizations. Nucleosome is a basic
unit of chromatin that consists of 146 bp fragment of DNA wrapped around a
protein octamer known as histone. One nucleosome contains two molecules of each
Histone 2A, Histone 2B, Histone 3 and Histone 4. Besides that, Histone 1 is linked
with DNAthat connects various histones in the nucleosome (Kamakaka and Biggins,
2005). All these histone proteins belong to different genefamilies but this review will
focus on histone 3 gene family in Arabidopsis thaliana.

Histone3.3 impacts plant development and transcription
H3.3 is encoded by three HISTONE 3 RELATED (HTR) genes, HTR4
(At4g40030), HTR5 (At4g40040), and HTR8 (At5g10980), which are expressed
in all tissues throughout the developmental stages (Okada et al., 2005). Wollmann
and colleagues studied function of the H3.3 in Arabidopsis by utilizing mutant
lines (Wollmann et al., 2017). Since single and double mutant of H3.3 subfamily
did not have phenotype, triple mutant was used for the study. h3.3 kd 1 and h3.3
kd 3 plants were smaller than wild type and had serrated leaf margin and decreased
fertility (Figure 2). H3.3 knockdown caused a variety of pleiotropic effects in plants
possibly by changing the transcription. Thus, the impact of H3.3 knockdown on
transcription was studied by using RNA seq analysis. More than 900 genes were
significantly mis regulated in h3.3kd with the majority being downregulated (Figure.
2). Gene ontology term analysis (GO Term) of downregulated genes revealed a large
variety of response processes, including environmental and endogenous stimuli.
Wollmann and colleague demonstrated that H3.3 is not required for gene expression
in a global scale but the loss of H3.3 directly or indirectly affects the expression of
genes related to response to internal and external stimuli.

Comparing Franco Zeffirelli And Baz Luhrmann s Film
Compare Contrast Essay The Franco Zeffirelli (1968) and Baz Luhrmann (1996)
films about the Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet, were both fairly good movies
and I enjoyed watching both of them. While the Baz Luhrmann film was a fresh
spin on the classic story, the Franco Zeffirelli film Romeo and Juliet was overall
better than the 1996 Baz Luhrmann film Romeo+Juliet. Romeo+Juliet was a good
idea in theory but in execution was a big mistake. When they used the language
from the play and not updating it to modern day language was a big mistake by the
directors and it kind of ruined the movie for me. The part of the movie leading up to
the climax was just a blur of images and if you didn t read the play or watch the 1968

there s no blood or gunshot wound or anything. Second, when Juliet dies she lads on

Themes Of Seven Samurai
In the classic film Seven Samurai, Akira Kurosawa, one of Japan s most famous and
influential directors, delves into the world of samurai during the Sengoku period.
Kurosawa has inspired many filmmakers, and the themes and story of Seven
Samurai can be seen mirrored in films. In the film, Kurosawa paid special detail to
small details important to Japan s history and culture, both past and present.
Seven Samurai follows the struggles of a small village of farmers plagued by seasonal
raids and looting by rogue bandits. To save their dying way of life and home, an
envoy of three farmers seeks the aid of samurai, offering rice in exchange for the
services of samurai. At first unsuccessful in wooing any samurai to their cause, the
call to arms is eventually answered by six samurai and the orphaned son of a farmer
turned wannabe samurai. Rather than chase the bandits away from the village, the
samurai teach the farmers to defend themselves and lead the farmers into battle. Once
the village is won and the farmers emerge victorious, the surviving samurai leave the
village in the hands of the farmers once again.
The film appears to take place during the 16th century Sengoku period, a time of
bloody warfare and disunity in the evolution of Japan s culture and history. Samurai,
being a hereditary social class, would be loyal retainers to their daimyo, but the
constant inflow of masterless samurai suggests the likelihood of their daimyo having
died in one of the many battles, which has
The Effects Of Drug Abuse On American Substance Abuse...
The article I reviewed was directed to the topic regarding drugs referred to as,
Acceptability and Availability of Harm Reduction Interventions for Drug Abuse in
American Substance Abuse Treatment Agencies, by Harold Rosenberg and Kristina
T. Phillips. The study took place at Bowling Green State University and its method
was conducted as a survey. Harold Rosenberg and Kristina T. Philips developed this
study to determine the acceptability and availability for several types of interventions
at multiple substance abuse treatment agencies across American. The study also
attempted to determine the reasons for a variety of pharamacological and
nonpharmacological harm reduction intervention being unavailability at many
agencies. They focused on 17 selected interventions and their outcome goals that
could be used to reduce drug related harm. In the study, the method used was a
survey which was created to be an assessment questionnaire. This specific assessment
was called the harm reduction attitude questionaries (HRAQ). The questionnaire was
mailed out to 500 randomly selected substance abuse agencies located in the United
States. To assure high responsive rates, any agencies that did not immediate respond
received a follow up reminder post card. Among those 500 agencies, 65 of them were
returned because of addresses being changed, or the agency did not wish to
participate in the study. From the remaining 435, only 222 (51%) of the submitted

How Did the Working Class Prosper Under the Nazis from...
This essay explores whether the working class prospered during the Nazis from
1933 to 1938. To determine if the working class was better off under the Nazis I
will look specifically at unemployment , Beauty of Labour and Strength through
Joy which were initiatives which aimed at improving the working class. On the
whole, although the working class was given paid work and took part in organised
activities, their situation did not really improve as I will demonstrate in the course
of this essay. If we take into account the statistics relating to unemployment at first
glance it appears that the trend was positive unemployment reduced significantly
from 2,151,000 in 1935 to 119,000 in 1939 (source 5). Also as Source 10
highlights the fact that wages increased among three categories of workers
farmers, industrial workers and big business. One comment by a motorway
construction worker confirmed that under Hitler miracles had been accomplished
and things were getting better. (source 9). Source 6 is a photograph from 1933 of
workers constructing a motorway. The photo is staged as everyone is looking at
the camera and looking like they are not exhausted. Likewise, if we look at the
description of the programme from the RAD camp in 1938 although it indicates a
long day (getting up at 4:45 and ending with lights out at 22:00) it shows a balance
of activities such as parade at 19:15 and sing songs and leisure activities after supper.
However, in reality the workers were
External And Internal Desires In Ethan Frome By Edith
Wharton
External and internal drives in Ethan Frome People have many dreams that they
want to accomplish during their lifespan on earth. However, not all of the dreams
can be fulfilled. The dreams and desires of a person can be hindered by interfering
forces which might be external, social and environmental factors, or internal like lack
of will. Ethan Fromeby Edith Wharton demonstrates how social factors, including
rules and expectations, and environmental factors such as weather and landscape,
hindered the protagonist from accomplishing his dreams. These factors together
with his lack of will, played a major role in the tragedies of Ethan. However, the
restraints that moral and societal concerns imposed by society on the desires of an
individual are arguably the novel s most noticeable theme since the plot of the
prose is centered on Ethan s desire of a lady who isn t his better half. The novel
describes ravaging soul of Ethan as he is torn between the obligation to his wife
and the desire of his heart. Ethan describes Zeena as the epitome of coldness and
despondency. When he saw her before she embarked on her journey to Bettsbridge,
he found the pale light reflected from the banks of snow made her face look more
than usually drawn and bloodless (Wharton 39). On the other hand, Wharton s
discerption of Mattie in the eyes of Ethan is related with natural life, warmth, and
summer. At the start of the Novel, He perceives Mattie s face as like a
Learning Theories Explain The Connection Of Fear And...
Among the approaches for treating PTSD that presented in chapter two of Trauma:
Contemporary Directions in Theory, Practice, and Research (Ringel Brandell,
2012), the approaches I elected to focus on are CBT and PTSD, EMDR, SIT, and The
Self Trauma Model.
CBT and PTSD: CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) approach can go to two
directions. The first direction is learning theory, and the second is emotional
processing theory (p. 15). The learning theories relate to behavioral approach aiming
to change behavior by controlling environmental signs. These learning theories
explain the connection of fear and avoidance of the trauma are habituated, triggered,
and reinforced (p. 15). According to Ringel and Brandell, learning theories explain
well the issue of fear and the avoidance appears in PTSD. On the other hand,
learning theories criticize for being insufficient of clarifying the whole scale of
PTSD symptoms (p. 15).
Emotional Processing Theory, claim that many times emotional experiences last and
affect the individual behaviors long after the event originally linked to the emotion
has spread. This can lead to continued avoidance of the trauma memory and sustain
the occurrence of PTSD (p. 16). Ringel and Brandell (2012), bring out Foa and
Kozak explanation that the individual reacts to the memory with the same cognitive,
affective, and behavioral reactions related to the original trauma (pp. 16 17). Foa and
Kozak, defined the emotional process as the initiation and

India GDP Composition Sector Wise
The Gross Domestic Product or GDP is the indicator of the performance of an
economy. According to the estimates of 2008, India s GDP is $1.209 trillion and
this is slated to make improvement in the coming times. It is estimated that India s
GDP will grow by 6.5% in the year 2009. In 2008 the country s GDP was 9%; the
slowdown that has been witnessed this year in the estimates is largely due to the
slowdown witnessed by the agriculture and the industrial sectors. A look at the India
GDP composition sector wise throws up some interesting figures. The agriculture
sector contributed 17.2%; industry contributed 29.1% while the service sector had a
contribution of 52.7% according to 2008 estimates.

Also the Growth Rate of the Agricultural Sector in India GDP has declined due to
the fact that the sector has not adopted modern technology and agricultural practices.
Agriculture Growth Rate in India GDP has also decreased due to the fact that the
sector has insufficient irrigation facilities. As a result of this the farmers are
dependent on rainfall, which is however very unpredictable. Agriculture Growth Rate
in India GDP has declined over the years. The Indian government must take steps to
boost the agricultural sector for this in its turn will lead to the growth of Agriculture
Growth Rate in India GDP.
Services
Services Sector Growth Rate in India GDP has been very rapid in the last few
years. The Services Sector contributes the most to the Indian GDP. The Growth Rate
of the Services Sector in India GDP has risen due to several reasons and it has also
given a major boost to the Indian economy.
Indian Economy
India gross domestic product (GDP) means the total value of all the services and

History And Function Of Foreign Affairs
The History and Function of Miniseries of Foreign Affairs
The practice of what we call diplomacy did not always exist in the way we know it
today. In its place entities, which can be loosely defined as States, employed
rudimentary lines of communication between one another dating back to 15th
centenary. It was an arduous task to have open and responsive lines of
communication between these states, however, given the close proximity of Italian
city states and their need for open channels of communication made Italy uniquely
opportune for the development and maturation of diplomacy. After years of practicing
what was called continuous negotiation or nГ©gociation continuelle the French
created what is presumed to be the first foreign ... Show more content on

9). MFAs are then responsible for advising on the policies they should be required to
implement, issuing the appropriate instructions, and ensuring that they are carries out
(Berridge 2010 pg. 10). Part of the responsibility is the analysis of the information that
missions send home. There is the primary function of MFAs to coordinate foreign
relations. Lastly, MFAs are charged with overseeing interaction with foreign
diplomats at home. Berridge begins his book with what is essentially a fundamental
background on the evolution the MFA as an institution and how most function today.
While some might consider this information mundane or inconsequential to the goal
of discussing diplomacy at length, Berridge touches on these subjects because
diplomacy, like everything, is not static. Therefore, diplomacy is both effected by its
own history and by the administrative mechanism found within; a simplistic but
critical point to make.
Negotiation
Negotiation is the most frequently used tool in diplomacy and, as Berridge points
out, starts well before any representatives sit down at a table (Berridge 2010 pg.
27). There is a pre negotiation phase of arrangements that must be made beforehand
in order to get all of the appropriate parties of a conflict to participate.
Metamorphoses Essay example
Metamorphoses
After diving deeper into the production of Metamorphoses I couldn t help but
recognize a theme of, The Powers of Love . The objective of the performance was to
present the transitions and effects that love has on people, by staging different myths
and stories. By enabling different design element and implementing special effects,
the production of Metamorphoses created a visual world in which the play could
unfold.
The set design was simple throughout the entire play, yet it delivered a meaningful
theme to the performance. Consisting of a raised platform, fabric for acrobatics and
the pool, the actors used each element of the set design to enhance the overall
experience for the show goers. The best example of the ... Show more content on

In the story of greedy father, an adult, rather than a child played his daughter. In order
to enhance the realism of the play, the daughters costume was chosen to represent the
nature of a child. This costume choice was consistent with the director s concept and
accurately communicated the age and relationship of the daughter to the father. In the
story of the love struck boy, a man disguises himself as an old beggar women so
that he may get insight on a girl he is in love with. The beggar costume created an
entirely new relationship between the man and woman and allowed the man to freely
approach his love to learn of her feelings for him.
When discussing the design elements, I feel as though the element of light gets
overlooked more times than not. Throughout the entirety of the performance, light
played a key role in developing effects, and creating a visual reality. The first
instance we saw light was in the myth of the greedy father and his daughter. In the
story, the father is granted one wish; that everything he touches turn to gold.
Unfortunately for the man, his wish comes true and every single thing he touches is
instantly transformed to gold. In order to display this element of the play, a golden
light was shined on any object the father touched, including his daughter. This light
illuminated the action of the story and worked to fulfill the director s concept. As an
audience, we also saw the use of light during an actor s important set of lines. In
Assembling And Calibration Of A Robotic Arm Essay
Assembling And Calibration Of a Robotic Arm Asad Ashraf Malik Department of
Electronics Engineering Hamdard University, Karachi
Asad.mallick@hotmail.com ABSTRACT A robotic arm assembly includes a
support arm, a rotatable lower arm connected to the support arm, an upper
rotatable arm connected to the lower arm, a first driver for driving the lower arm,
a first transmission transferring power from the first driver to the lower arm, a
second driver for driving the upper arm, and a second transmission transferring
power from the second driver to the upper arm. The first and second drivers are
mounted on the support arm. The second transmission includes a belt assembly, a
beveled gear assembly driven by the belt assembly, and a speed reducer coupled to
the upper arm. . I. INTRODUCTION In the past, robotic arms have been
constructed and designed for the use of either an expensive, complex or heavy duty
arms for heavy industrial use, or inexpensive, light duty arms for educational and
robotic research purposes. With respect to the industrial robot arms, closed loop
control systems are typically utilized with motors drive and shaft encoders often
located at each of the joints. Unimation Corporation and Cincinnati Milacron
Corporation. The closed loop configuration, as well as the use of shaft encoders and
drives at each joint will permit an arm in which a precise control can be realized.
However, due to the added weight at every joint, the structural components should be
Emulating the Work of the Limbourg Brothers’
Through...
The Belles Heures of Jean de France is a prayer book also called a book of hours,
which was made for Jean de France, the Duke of Berry by Herman, Paul and Jean
de Limbourg, more commonly known as The Limbourg Brothers. The Limbourg
Brothers were actively making artwork in France during the early 1400s. Though
they were all still teenagers they were very skilled as artists, and so they were hired
to create a personal Bible for Jean de France by his brother Philip the Bold, Duke of
Burgundy.
The book was to be used as a private devotional to the Virgin Mary; in fact Belles
Heures actually translates to beautiful hours. This title is not only used because the
book is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, but also because the Belles Heures is... Show

The precise folio I copied from the Belles Heures of Jean de France, Duke of Berry
comes from the Hours of the Passion. The folio, numbered 142r, is entitled Christ
Offered the Sop . This folio is one of three folios in total that depict in Crucifixion
of Christ in the Belles Heures. The scene portrayed is taken from an account in the
Gospels in which Christ on the cross calls out that He is thirsty. The soldiers
standing by soak a sponge in vinegar that they stick onto a spear or a reed and offer
to Him. Flanking either side of the cross are the Virgin Mary and the young apostle
John the Beloved (Saint John) who are weeping as Christ suffers.
As I looked at other illuminations from this book of hours, I noticed that the
foreground of each usually appeared to be very small and limited in space while I
found that many of the background spaces were filled with some type of pattern. This
folio is a perfect representation of this style that the Limbourg Brothers implemented
in their manuscript work which I kept in mind to include as I did my own recreation
of the folio.
The materials that the Limbourg Brothers used in creating this folio were ink,
tempera, and gold leaf on vellum. I substituted a few of these materials in the
making of my own. Instead of vellum, I used calligraphic parchment paper, which I
found had a color similar to the
Essay On African Americans
The life of an African brought to the United States in the eighteenth century was not
an easy one. They were torn from their land of origin, stripped of all of their personal
property, had their senses of originality and individuality stolen from them and were
then forced to work in brutal environments where they were treated inhumanely. Yet
still, many African (turned African Americans) were able to find time to both keep
their culture intact and advance themselves and their fellow people. Both Leslie
Alexander and Fredrick Douglass detail the tribulations African Americans went
through in America who attempted to hold onto their senses of self in a place where
everything around them was meant to restrict that very ability and how they managed

They believed that death [was] merely another phase of the life cycle and through
that belief remained linked to African cosmological interpretations of life and death (
It is often argued that once Africans were brought to America many of their
traditional African beliefs were lost during the Seasoning Process and that they had
become accultured as a result (Alexander, 4). The Africans who would partake in the
burial practices in New York City were nothing of the sort. They still held onto
several of the seemingly superstitious ideals from their homeland. These ideals
allowed them to be able to, in a way, rebel against the system that tried to oppress
them. It allowed for them to maintain a sense of hope because they believed that in
death, lied a way for them to return to Africa. During their burial ceremonies, the New
York African Americanpopulation would often bury their loved ones with shells,
seashells to be exact. Seashells, come from the sea, as did the Africans who were
brought here on slave ships. So by their belief, they would be able to return to Africa
in the afterlife when they were buried with the seashells which would essentially
mean that they were not bound to America in the way those who brought them there
would have thought they
Online Sex Addiction ( Osa )
The expanding role of the internet in everyday life in a culture seemingly obsessed
with sex has led to the expression of a behaviorally complicated form of addiction
referred to as Online Sex Addiction (OSA) (Griffiths, 2012). Hypersexual adults with
OSA display maladaptive patterns of internet enabled sexually compulsive thoughts
and behavior leading to adverse consequences including significant clinical distress
and occupational and social impairment with deficiencies in most areas of
functioning, such as work, school, family relations, judgment, thinking, mood etc.
(Hook et al., 2014; Kaplan Kruegar, 2010). A relatively nascent literature has
attempted to evaluate the biopsychosocial mechanisms that mediate and perpetuate

This paper will review the current OSA definition, summarize recent research on the
prevalence and comorbidities of OSA, and then describe and evaluate data from OSA
psychotherapeutic intervention studies. Defining OSA
Online sex addiction in hypersexual individuals has been defined informally as when
an individual experiences an intense preoccupation with nonparaphilic and/or
paraphilic sexual desires, urges and behaviors as evidenced by the complementary
/exclusive use of the internet as a tool to provide comfort when experiencing
dysphoric mood states and/or stressful live events (Winkler et al, 2013; Kafka, 2010).
As with substance use, misuse and dependence, hypersexual adults with OSA
experience symptoms on a continuum of engagement (i.e., experimental, recreational,
regular and dependent/compulsive) (Cooper, Galbreath, Becker, 2004). Persons with
OSA may repeatedly have unsuccessful attempts to control or diminish the amount of
time spent using the internet to engage in sexual fantasies, urges, and behaviors
(Delmonico, Carnes, 1999; Delmonico Griffin, Carnes, 2002). Like in substance
abuse/dependency, these persons can experience tolerance and withdrawal symptoms.
There is controversy among researchers in the field regarding whether sex addiction
is really a disorder (Kafka, 2010; Karila, 2014). The DSM V does not contain
diagnostic criteria or treatment suggestions for sex
The Problem Of Sex Addiction
Many people across the world are struggling with many different types of addictions.
Some people feel that sex is a major concern. In the article Your Addicted to What?
Challenging the Myth of Sex addiction , written by Marty Klein, he states that sex is
not an addiction. On the other had many other believe that it is. A multitude of people
would argue that sex is not an addictionbecause it is something that can be
controlled. We all have choices, and the choices are up to the individual to make and
that choice should be don t do it if you don t want to get addicted.
A prime example of a choice would be, alcohol. There are many people that are
addicted to alcohol, however, alcohol is a choice. With addictions, people don t
realize that it is all mind over matter. Some people feel that drinking will help take
the pain away. While others do it just for the high that it gives them. See it s a
choice. Could sex be put in the same category as alcohol? A multitude of people
state that sex is a very enjoyable sport; that it makes them feel loved, it makes
people feel comfort, and for many women, it makes them feel protected. Sex is
physical, but it is also mental. Sex has the power to make someone feel
emotionally attached to someone else. It has the power to change someone s
mood. Many married couples use sex as a form of unity, some feel that it is the best
after trying to reconcile after a fight or etc. However the big question is, is sex
addiction a real thing or is it

Covey s Concept of Empathic Listening
11/22/2010
Management 501, a curriculum rich in principles regarding issues both personal and
professional, has presented a myriad of concepts which represent tremendous truths
applicable to the concept of self improvement. Senge, Sholtes and Covey,
internationally renowned authors, provide a wealth of knowledge which empowers
individuals to effect life changing decisions through the planning, doing, studying and
acting (PDSA) upon these concepts. It is amazing that as others witness change in
us, via the practical application of these principles, many are encouraged to affect the
same in themselves. Of all the many concepts and principles I ve studied ... Show

I explained to my wife Susan the new concept of listening I had recently learned via
Covey and her response was so you re learning to become an empath , and began to
recite a list of known empaths.
I smiled and thought to myself, If you were aware of this concept, why haven t
you been using it. During interactions with my daughter, I have had the joy of
watching much different reactions and responses as I implement empathic
listening. Her responses are less defensive as she feels less the need to defend her
position and more open to engage in dialog versus discussion. I have tested
empathic listening with my wife Susan, and watched her responses become more
amiable as she doesn t feel challenged as we engage vocally. Conversations in general
seem to go smoother as dialog replaces defensive conversation. I also noticed while
attempting to engage in emphatic listening/dialog with one of my older children, in
which she repeatedly attempted to change the conversation from dialog to defensive
discussion. I had the fun of explain to her that this was dialog not discussion , giving
her the definition of both terms and explained that neither of us needed to defend our
position, just talk about it. Per the PDSA cycle, I will act by continually working to
improve my listening skills and seek opportunities to teach others the importance of
emphatic listening and the benefits it brings to relationships. How much do we
improve as individuals, what

Rough Draft Essay. Rough Draft Examples - Writing a rough draft. Rough Draft. 2019-02-24

  • 1. Rough Draft Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Rough Draft Essay" is an intriguing but challenging endeavor. The paradox lies in the seemingly straightforward nature of the topic; after all, a rough draft is typically considered the initial, unpolished version of an essay. However, delving into the complexities of the writing process itself can unveil layers of intricacies that might not be immediately apparent. To begin with, the very essence of a rough draft suggests imperfection. It is a preliminary attempt, a raw exploration of ideas and thoughts. Capturing the essence of this phase while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative requires a delicate balance. Writers must navigate the fine line between expressing their ideas authentically and avoiding the pitfalls of incoherence. Additionally, the challenge lies in the introspective aspect of the essay. Writing about one's own writing process demands a level of self-awareness that can be both enlightening and challenging. Unveiling the decision-making behind each word, sentence, and paragraph forces the writer to confront their creative choices, providing readers with a transparent view of the author's intellectual journey. Moreover, the challenge extends beyond the personal realm. Exploring the broader implications of the rough draft in the context of writing as a whole involves delving into the creative processes of renowned authors, the evolution of literary works, and the ever-evolving landscape of language and expression. This analytical depth requires extensive research and a keen eye for detail. In essence, the difficulty in composing an essay on the topic of "Rough Draft Essay" lies in the need to simultaneously navigate the intimate process of personal creation and the broader landscape of literary evolution. It is a task that demands introspection, research, and a profound understanding of the delicate dance between chaos and order in the creative realm. And remember, if grappling with such an essay becomes too daunting, there's always the option to seek assistance. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, providing a helping hand to navigate the intricacies of academic and creative writing. Rough Draft Essay Rough Draft Essay
  • 2. The United States Faces Security Challenges The United States faces several national security challenges. For one, it has seemingly lost its leadership role in space activities. Other countries, such as China, are ramping up investments in space, while NASA s budget is at a historic low as a share of the overall federal budget. Return on investments in space technology has benefitted the civilian space program and the military alike. U.S. military operations and intelligence collection rely on space systems and access to these capabilities must be assured . Ironically, there is a concern of congestion in space with over 60 nations and government consortia operating satellites in addition to academic and commercial operators. There is an increase of anti satellite testing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... space activities. Adversaries could deduct from this report that lack of an overarching U.S. space strategy may mean gaps in capabilities between these stakeholders. Identifying those gaps and exploiting them is an attack of the strategy or more accurately stated, a lack of strategy. The United Statespublished its first National Security Space Strategy by means of an unclassified summary in January 2011. The document contains strategic objectives, approaches and implementation information. The strategy carries a consistent theme of partnering, collaboration and sharing of capabilities, data, services, and technology with allies, international organizations, and commercial firms. The relationship with partners in space is so valued that we will seek to access their capabilities if U.S. systems are degraded or unavailable . U.S. adversaries could use this information in many ways. They could watch for indicators of whether we are truly following the strategy. What would it mean if an opportunity arose to partner with another nation for the sharing of information or capabilities and the U.S. did not enter into that relationship? This information potentially gives adversaries a space strategy to confirm or deny versus forcing them to build an estimate of our strategy. As pointed out in the National Security Space Strategy, the U.S. seeks to partner with commercial firms. One of our
  • 3. Material And Methods Of The Genes And Identify The... Materials and Methods Specific Aim #1: Pick chromatophore phenotypes and identify the candidate genes that might cause these changes. 1.1 Introduction. Betta splendens have many unique chromatophore phenotypes that were given risen from many years of evolution and breeding. However, there has been no research centered around the genes that might mediate these unique phenotypes. The first thing to do is to pick two specific chromatophore phenotypes and see if the candidate genes, fms, mifta, pax 3, and pax 7, are mutated differently in their coding sequences, from one phenotype to another. Here, degenerative PCR will be used to amplify sequences of the genes that are unknown, with primers designed off of protein sequences from related species. These PCR sequences will be cloned into plasmids and transformed into E. coli. cells. The plasmids that carry the candidate genes will be purified and sent off for sequencing. Once sequence data has returned, more betta specific primers will be designed, and more PCR reactions will be ran. Finally, the results of those will be sequenced and then compared among the other sequences to look for coding variations. 1.2 Research Design. 1.2.1 Run Degenerative PCR and clone out some or all of the sequence. Blood will be extracted from the caudal tail fin tissue of two different betta splendens, which will provide purified DNA, after using the DNeasy Blood and Tissue Kit (Qiagen) as previously described by (Carlson et al. 2015). • 4. What Is The Stranger In The Nest Essay What is that makes us who really we are ? There is no doubt that identity defines who we are. All over the world, all scientist and people want to understand that things affect our identity. There are two main reasons that affect us. These are our family and friends (nurture) and our genetics (nature). However some people think that there is another more complicated answer. People think about this situation because they wonder why their children become strangers. David Cohen who is a psychologist and also writer of Stranger in the Nest he claims genetics(nature) is the most effective impact in our identity. I agree with Cohen about genetics have big influence on identity and for making children strangers to their families because of the evidence in the twin studies. In the Stranger in the Nest, David Cohen says that genetic factors have the most important role on why children become strangers to their families. He explains genetics factors importance and tries to confute parental effect. He shows a study about why genetics have most important affect. For instance, he thinks that most mental illness is not caused by parental impacts or abusive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cohen uses nurture side reasons in his article Stranger in the Nest and he tries to confuse them. Supporters of nurture side claim that Most mental illness is caused by dysfunctional parenting or by stressful social conditions (Cohen 3). According to Twins studies, when one identical twin is diagnosed with autism, we can find there is about a 70 percent chance the other will be too. If we seriously research genetic factor s effect on our identity, also we can find the same answer. It means many of our habits come from our family genetics. At the end of the this research, it helps to understand why our children become stranger to their family, answer of this question is that genetics factors have a big responsibility on our
  • 5. Bureaucratic Standardization In Foxconn Factory Lastly, bureaucratic standardization could not be neglected in the suicide tragedy in Foxconn. This essay will analyze how the strict standardization influences Foxconn factory. Pun and Chan (2012: 38) have found that a frontline worker in Foxconn factory must finish 5 tasks in 10 seconds, so each task only takes 2 seconds to complete in an assembly line. They (2012: 38) also explain that Foxconn factory uses non human technology, like stopwatches and industrial electronic devices to monitor frontline workers, in order to ensure the output target. Setting strict standardizationfor production is a practice of just in time method, aiming to maximize productions and keep workers under close surveillance. Furthermore, every employee in Foxconn factory is designed and predicted in a standard way to perform their own duty. For example, workers in assembly lines have been trained to follow fixed steps in manufacturing process. Although leaders and managers in Foxconn factory believe that strict standardization ensures bureaucratic efficiency, frontline workers feel themselves as parts of the machines or even lower than the machines. (Pun and Chan, 2012: 38) This essay explains that the whole process in Foxconn factory runs like machines, which does dehumanization to some extent and demotivates innovation among employees. (Grey, 2013, p.87) To conclude, bureaucratic standardization partly leads to the jumping event in Foxconn factory. In summary, scientific management, hierarchy
  • 6. Essay On Remembrance Day The History of Remembrance Day Remembrance Day is a day of memorial observed all around the world. Since the end of World War I, the Commonwealth of Nations have looked at November 11th as a day to remember those who fought for our countries, to protect their citizens, and protect our freedom. Without these brave soldiers, we wouldn t have the opportunity to do many things we do today, and our world would be very different. The history of this day is very important for people all around the world to understand, and observe, to show their gratitude for those who have risked their lives for us. Important points in the history of Remembrance Day is the beginning of the recognition, how it is observed in different nations and the importance of the symbolic poppy flower. First of all, the recognition of Remembrance Day is annual on November 11th because of the end of World War I. The official end of World War I was set for the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month (11:00 am, November 11th). After WWI, the British Commonwealth began noticing this day as Armistice Day , to commemorate the day the signing of the armistice. In 1919, King George V chose to continue the tradition of remembering those who have risked or lost their lives for us. Since then, the formal name for this day of memorial has been Remembrance Day . This day is informally known as Poppy Day . As well as the Commonwealth, countries outside of this organization began to recognize this day of

Ireland s Reluctant Release Of Power Ireland s Reluctant Release of Power Freedom and jurisdiction over what makes up your country is never fully appreciated until it is taken away by another country that thinks they can do it better and more efficiently. Ireland was conquered by the United Kingdom in what seemed to Ireland as a barbaric, and unwarranted way. Ireland s was made up of a vast majority of Catholics that came to regard their religion as their safe haven when Britain ventured to conform them to new beliefs in every aspect of their lives. People in distinction to a province in northern France, known as the Normans, colonized England, a portion of Wales, along with Italy in the eleventh century. ( Northern Ireland: The Omagh Bomb, Nationalism, and Religion ) From an initial point, politics and religion stood as reminders of contrasting sides of the strife. The religious and political association determined that both sides possessed a solid sense of belief in their own cause. ( Northern Ireland: The Omagh Bomb, Nationalism, and Religion ) From an early stage, there were instigators such as religion and politics that pinpointed the very reason so many lives were lost. The segmentation of the island into two political bodies is the result of a lengthy course of British rule, going back to 1171, when King Henry II announced himself Ireland s king. ( Irish .) Finally, the English composed the majority of the island. The power was held in the hands of a British king, therefore resulting in Britain having the first, last and every word in between as far as religion and politics were concerned, but this was not being taken lightly with Irish natives now under British rule. • 8. Statistics Experiment Essay Statistics Experiment For my maths coursework I will be conducting an investigation into statistics. I had a choice for this coursework of both statistics on year 10 to 11 school children, and facts about them and also their likes in terms of sport and subjects at school. I chose not to do this project on that information; instead I chose data on 100 different cars, the reason for this is that I like cars more and may perhaps pursue it as a career. I did not want to do a project on data that I have no interest in. The 100 different cars have data under the following headings, Car number in order from 1 to 100, the make of the car, the price when new of the car, the current second hand price, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For my coursework I will be hopefully conducting a total of 3 different investigations into this survey, though this may change to 2 or 4. My aim is to look for a correlation in the separate investigations and perhaps if I can draw any conclusions or maybe find a formula or prediction for a particular investigation that will work for all or most cars. E.g. if from mileage, price when new and age I can calculate the current second hand price. My investigation will be: The frequency of mileage in my sample, if there is a relationship between the second hand price and age of a car, and finally if there is relationship between the age and percentage loss of a car. I will be taking a sample of 20 cars; I will take every 5th car in the database. I will show the data in terms of tables, a tally chart, and by way of bar, and scatter graphs with a line of best fit if applicable. To improve my investigation I will take a sample of 5 cars, which will not be included in my final investigation, but this 5 car sample is to test my investigation techniques, and to allow me to foresee and problems and practise in investigating statistics. I will not be able to take all 100 cars and will have to do my investigations on different samples of the survey, I hope to take 1/5 of the cars, and I will do my investigations on 20 cars. I
  • 9. Polyethylene Terephthalate Vs. PLA PET(Polyethylene Terephthalate) vs PLA(Polylactide), which one is better or worse than the other? Both of these polymer is used in the world today. PET is perhaps the more famous one because of its cheap prices and many uses. 30 % of the global demand for PET happens to be plastic bottles. PLA the other type of polymer is just now gaining momentum being used as a bottle in the market today. It is derived from renewable resources (corn) that we can regrow a lot easier than the polymer that we harvest from trees. In my opinion I think there are a few more pros for PET then there are for PLA. We use some sort of PET merchandise every day. Polyethylene Terephthalate is a strong, lightweight plastic resin and form of polyester that closely resembles glass in clarity .... PET is commonly used in food packaging due to its strong barrier properties against water vapor... PET is also shatter resistant, slightly flexible and easy to recycle (Alpha). It also does it with about 68 percent less fossil fuel resources. Making it one of the few green material. PLA also shares a lot of the same characteristics as PET. One that only PLA has is that it is bio degradable. The con of PLA is that it is not recyclable everywhere. There are only a few places that are capable of breaking down the polymer. One would think that it can just degrade anywhere; however, they require special chemicals to allow it to break down. So you cannot just throw it out in your yard and expect it to be gone within weeks or months. Being bio degradable still makes it better for the environment then PET. Especially if both the PET and PLA are not

  • 12. God Grew Tired Of Us A refugee is a person who was forced to leave their country. Whether it be from warfare or natural disaster, their homes are no longer safe to live in, so they need to relocate elsewhere. Once someone sets foot on the journey of becoming a refugee, they become vulnerable and dependent with no sense of what the future will bring. In an attempt to accommodate them, first world countries with the resources necessary to assist these refugees, are struggling to determine whether or not they should step in and help. Some argue that taking them in could come with excessive consequences, while others believe they could be assets. Although there may be a few consequences, they are outweighed by the benefits and undeniable severity of the situation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When relocating to a new country, a refugee must get used to a new culture while suppressing their own. Not to mention, they have to live knowing that they left their family and friends behind in a dangerous environment. They are stuck with the burden of not knowing whether or not their relatives are still alive. Having to live day after day with these weights on your shoulder would be a detriment to anyone s emotional health. In the documentary, God Grew Tired of Us, John Dau, a Syrian refugee came to America where he was able to live in an apartment, get a job, and receive an education. He went from living outdoors with no idea of what tomorrow will bring, to living in an air conditioned apartment with a chance to build a future, yet Dau still wasn t happy. He found himself missing his homeland and the friends and family he had left behind. Refugees face a multitude of emotional stress when starting their new lives, everything has changed for them and sometimes it can be too much to handle. Knowing they left vulnerable loved ones behind, while they get to start anew can make it hard to enjoy their chance at happiness. Along with the distress that comes with being on your own, the different customs and societal values can be difficult on a refugee. They may need to abandon old traditions or even hide a part of their identity that wouldn t be seen as normal in their new location. A constant sense of loneliness along with living in a new area where you don t quite fit in can be emotionally stressful for

The governments of these countries insist that houses and other buildings are not erected in low lying or flood prone areas. There are also strict building codes that must be adhered to. People neglect these warnings at their own peril, for it is certain that in spite of how long it might take, the hurricanes are sure come. They will test the buildings and only those that were properly built, that is, only those that adhere to the codes will survive. Many persons misguidedly hinge themselves against the storms of life on things or persons. Some believe that their money, education, possessions, family, friends, personal contacts, counsellors, psychologists and others will guarantee their survival. You will not survive on a rock you will survive on the rock and this rock is Jesus. The famous hymn says On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other grounds is sinking sand Jesus is the rock on whom we stand and it is our faith in him and our obedience to his word that will keep us through the storms of life. The ability to stand during these times does not come from within us or from any other source around us; it comes from Christ the solid rock on which we stand. • 14. Camera Lucid Reflections Of Photography What the Photograph reproduces to infinity has occurred only once: the Photograph mechanically repeats what could never be repeated existentially, Roland Barthes stated in his book Camera Lucida: Reflections of Photography. Photography is the key to capturing a moment in time that will not reoccur again. You can try, but it will not be that exact moment you once saw before. A camera is a very powerful tool. It allows the artist to use it to display and present their message they are trying to get across to their audience and artistic view. A photograph will keep time frozen and allow us the audience to re experience whenever we want to. The reason I mention stopping time is because in the image named Carmen photographed by Richard Avedon he did just that. This photograph is of a woman jumping over a puddle. Richard Avedon stopped time and created this fashion and street image all in one, quite beautiful may I add. Many people can try to recreate this image but never will they get the exact leap. From photographing identification cards for the merchant marines, making it all the way into the fashion world, the iconic American photographer, Richard Avedon. He was best known for his fashion photographyas well as his large scale character revealing portraits. After he served two years in the merchant marines he then studied photography under Alexey Brodovitch who was the art director of Harper s Bazaar. • 15. Analyzing The Vision Of Short Term Lenders Essay In early 2011 unemployment was rising, economic growth was stagnating, and families were panicking about making ends meet, all while legal loan sharks were circling the poor. With consumer credit becoming less available, and banks more rigorous in lending to consumers, there has been an increase of payday loans and short term lenders representing sub prime lending bussinesses. These institutions specialize in offering fast cash and fast loans, both of which are strongly advertised via different media platforms such as a website, television, andradio stations(Aldohni, 2013). Aluminium had an experimental value of 3g. and a theoretical value of 2.7 (Coolmagnetman.com, 2017), causing it to have an 11% percentage error. This percent error is invalid as it is over 10%, therefore not precise enough to draw accurate and reliable conclusions from. This consequently means that the experimental and theoretical density do not represent each other. The percent error in the experiment (11%) is due to random error/s as it is lower than the percent uncertainty (80%). As a result, olive oil had an exceptionally accurate percentage error of 0%, and means that the experimental and theoretical density precisely represent each other. Therefore, this data is highly valid (0 5%) and can be used to draw accurate and reliable conclusions from. Due to the lack of percentage error, there is no random or systematic errors present. Although this data may in fact be inaccurate as there is a wide range of different brands and versions of olive oil, and both the experimental and theoretical data weren t based on the exact bottle of olive oil. Both density experiments could have been completed at different climates/temperatures at the time of data collection. Additionally, the data was rounded at many points throughout the experiment to obey the rules of significant figures, losing the accuracy of the data. Ethanol (rubbing alcohol), obtained an experimental density of 0.76 and a theoretical density of 0.78 (Ausetute.com.au, 2017). Subsequently, ethanol received a small percentage error of 2.6% because, even though the difference in density was 0.02, in ratio it is larger due to the small density. This data is highly valid as it is between 0 5% percentage error, meaning it can be used to draw very close to accurate and reliable conclusions from. The percentage error (2.6%) is smaller than the percent uncertainty (7.9%) and therefore means that the error was due to a random error. Random errors result from uncontrollable elements/variables unavoidable in the experiment, which in this case would be the limitations of the measuring apparatus. It can never be fully eliminated but can be reduced by an increased number of trials. However, the experimental and theoretical densities may have been accomplished at different temperatures and the densities

Between the overproduction and the sloppy lo fi guitar solo, well, lets just say doubts were forming. However, my optimism has paid off, because in my opinion Black Sun was the weakest song on the album. Kintsugi is the best Death Cab album since Transatlanticism, featuring guitar melodies that hearken back to the best Death Cab album: We Have the Facts and We re Voting Yes. While, yes, I liked this album, I take major issue with the widespread claims that frontman Ben Gibbard has gotten his writing skills back. The early Death Cab albums, like Kintsugi, focused on failed relationships and pining over ideal romances; however, the writing on these (Something About Airplanes, We Have the Facts..., and The Photo Album) is significantly more indirect. At this point I will turn to examining research strategies to examine the potential implications of each of these three shifts in four areas, public participation at local levels, interest group control over information, media frames regarding polarization, and policy feedback in the absence of policy actions. The shift in policy focus from the Federal level to the state level on a number of issues raises questions about the quality of representation in regards to these policies. The nationalization of House elections, and the use of state legislatures to redraw district lines call into question the representative nature of the process that permits these incidents to occur. Perhaps it is simply that the election of Republicans to numerous state legislatures represented public wishes to reshape the electoral system of the country at large. To determine if these local elections are being driven primarily by a small group of individuals that is radically different from the population in general, the characteristics of those who turn out to vote at local elections should be compared to those that turnout in national elections. ... Stoudt DeVry University The drinking age in the military is currently set at 21 years old as it is set for the rest of the country. There has been an age old statement widely used by those in the military, If I am old enough to fight and die for my country, I should be old enough to drink . The debate is out there that the drinking age should be lowered for all young adults from 18 years old to 21 years old. The idea behind the fact that younger people tend to have less responsibility and are not good candidates for being allowed to drink is a valid point. Those serving in the military are different in that respect for the fact that they have more responsibilities than that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the examples that is used to show that lowering the drinking age to 18 years of age is a bad thing is a panel that was done in 1975 to 1993. In this panel they surveyed 39 states that had lowered the drinking age to 18 yrs old between the 1970 s and the 1980 s. The mortality rate for those states included in the study showed that once the drinking age was lowered the fatality rate from motor vehicle accidents had risen substantially; most of the fatal accidents were at night. When the drinking age was raised back to 21 years old the fatality rate had dropped back to a lower level as it had before the age was lowered. The documentation shows that when those that are 18 to 21 years old are allowed to drink the death rate from alcohol consumption in motor vehicle accidents are raised. Now the death rate for those that are over the age of 21 years old has increased slightly only due to the fact that the younger population now allowed to drink has been introduced into the equation (Carpenter Dobkin, 2011). Simply stating that because they are allowed to drink at 18 years old and that some of them get into accidents with motor vehicles while intoxicated on alcohol is irrelevant in the case that there is evidence in the report that those that are over 21 years old are still getting into the same type of accidents. Also considering the level of technology that is current in the world today
  • 22. The Role Of Immigrants In Animal Crackers And Annie Hall The role of the immigrant as an American cultural figure cannot be understated, and the cultural values associated with immigrant versus non immigrant Jews in particular are primarily class values. However, even once assimilated and wealthy, upper class Jews face a difficult situational dichotomy: Whether to join the high minded literati (a category that Jews helped shape in America) or the more vulgar entrepreneurial class. The anxieties associated with Jewish history complicate this choice, and its consequences are echoed in many films, including Animal Crackers and Annie Hall. Perhaps the dichotomy between the high minded wealthy Jew and the vulgar wealthy Jew can be most clearly seen by looking at Jack and Harry Warner. As profiled in Gabler s Between the Old Life and the New, Harry Warner was a devoted family man, lived a quiet life... a stern moralist who would eventually assume the role of moral adjudicator to his entire family. He was also a more observant Jew, and less religiously assimilated. Jack, meanwhile, was a veteran provocateur who incited everyone, regarded as a frustrated comedian who liked nothing better than telling very bad jokes in a loud voice, and seemed to enjoy creating embarrassment. He also repeatedly refused any religious instruction. In some sense, Jack could be seen as assimilated while Harry could be seen as defiantly Jewish. But it would be just as easy to paint the opposite picture: Despite their religious differences, Harry put effort into coming across as a member of high society, while Jack intentionally resisted and even opposed those norms. Harry would often have to apologize for Jack, claiming he didn t have the advantages of such a good education. Here, we see the beginning of the high minded/vulgar dichotomy that would continue to separate wealthy Jews for the next century. The Marx BrothersAnimal Crackers shows that this trope was already recognized in the culture, and plays with the trope intentionally. When we first see Groucho Marx, he is playing the role of Captain Spaulding, a rich adventurer returned from Africa. It s never quite clear, in the film, to what extent Groucho is pretending to be Spaulding, and to what extent he actually

A tragedy that ended with the deaths of four U.S. citizens and more than 260 others, the Boston Marathon Bombings were high magnitude terrorist attacks. The Boston Marathon Bombings were caused by Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his alleged companion (and brother) Tamerlan Tsarnaev, two Russian refugees whom immigrated to the United States around 2002. • 27. How Has Art Changed Throughout The Modern Time Modernity represented a time period of human belief in rationality that lasted from . A time period where everything was quantifiable and litteral. Artwork strived to be as visually realistic as possible and it s quality was based on such. Kurosawa has inspired many filmmakers, and the themes and story of Seven Samurai can be seen mirrored in films. In the film, Kurosawa paid special detail to small details important to Japan s history and culture, both past and present. Seven Samurai follows the struggles of a small village of farmers plagued by seasonal raids and looting by rogue bandits. To save their dying way of life and home, an envoy of three farmers seeks the aid of samurai, offering rice in exchange for the services of samurai. At first unsuccessful in wooing any samurai to their cause, the call to arms is eventually answered by six samurai and the orphaned son of a farmer turned wannabe samurai. The article I reviewed was directed to the topic regarding drugs referred to as, Acceptability and Availability of Harm Reduction Interventions for Drug Abuse in American Substance Abuse Treatment Agencies, by Harold Rosenberg and Kristina T. Phillips. The study took place at Bowling Green State University and its method was conducted as a survey. Harold Rosenberg and Kristina T. Philips developed this study to determine the acceptability and availability for several types of interventions at multiple substance abuse treatment agencies across American. The study also attempted to determine the reasons for a variety of pharamacological and nonpharmacological harm reduction intervention being unavailability at many agencies. They focused on 17 selected interventions and their outcome goals that could be used to reduce drug related harm. In the study, the method used was a survey which was created to be an assessment questionnaire. This specific assessment was called the harm reduction attitude questionaries (HRAQ). The questionnaire was mailed out to 500 randomly selected substance abuse agencies located in the United States. To assure high responsive rates, any agencies that did not immediate respond received a follow up reminder post card. Among those 500 agencies, 65 of them were returned because of addresses being changed, or the agency did not wish to participate in the study. From the remaining 435, only 222 (51%) of the submitted questionnaire contained useable

To determine if the working class was better off under the Nazis I will look specifically at unemployment , Beauty of Labour and Strength through Joy which were initiatives which aimed at improving the working class. On the whole, although the working class was given paid work and took part in organised activities, their situation did not really improve as I will demonstrate in the course of this essay. If we take into account the statistics relating to unemployment at first glance it appears that the trend was positive unemployment reduced significantly from 2,151,000 in 1935 to 119,000 in 1939 (source 5). Also as Source 10 highlights the fact that wages increased among three categories of workers farmers, industrial workers and big business. One comment by a motorway construction worker confirmed that under Hitler miracles had been accomplished and things were getting better. (source 9). Source 6 is a photograph from 1933 of workers constructing a motorway. The photo is staged as everyone is looking at the camera and looking like they are not exhausted. Likewise, if we look at the description of the programme from the RAD camp in 1938 although it indicates a long day (getting up at 4:45 and ending with lights out at 22:00) it shows a balance of activities such as parade at 19:15 and sing songs and leisure activities after supper. However, in reality the workers were
  • 36. External And Internal Desires In Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton External and internal drives in Ethan Frome People have many dreams that they want to accomplish during their lifespan on earth. However, not all of the dreams can be fulfilled. The dreams and desires of a person can be hindered by interfering forces which might be external, social and environmental factors, or internal like lack of will. Ethan Fromeby Edith Wharton demonstrates how social factors, including rules and expectations, and environmental factors such as weather and landscape, hindered the protagonist from accomplishing his dreams. These factors together with his lack of will, played a major role in the tragedies of Ethan. However, the restraints that moral and societal concerns imposed by society on the desires of an individual are arguably the novel s most noticeable theme since the plot of the prose is centered on Ethan s desire of a lady who isn t his better half. The novel describes ravaging soul of Ethan as he is torn between the obligation to his wife and the desire of his heart. Ethan describes Zeena as the epitome of coldness and despondency. When he saw her before she embarked on her journey to Bettsbridge, he found the pale light reflected from the banks of snow made her face look more than usually drawn and bloodless (Wharton 39). On the other hand, Wharton s discerption of Mattie in the eyes of Ethan is related with natural life, warmth, and summer. At the start of the Novel, He perceives Mattie s face as like a

Among the approaches for treating PTSD that presented in chapter two of Trauma: Contemporary Directions in Theory, Practice, and Research (Ringel Brandell, 2012), the approaches I elected to focus on are CBT and PTSD, EMDR, SIT, and The Self Trauma Model. CBT and PTSD: CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) approach can go to two directions. The first direction is learning theory, and the second is emotional processing theory (p. 15). The learning theories relate to behavioral approach aiming to change behavior by controlling environmental signs. These learning theories explain the connection of fear and avoidance of the trauma are habituated, triggered, and reinforced (p. 15). According to Ringel and Brandell, learning theories explain well the issue of fear and the avoidance appears in PTSD. On the other hand, learning theories criticize for being insufficient of clarifying the whole scale of PTSD symptoms (p. 15). Emotional Processing Theory, claim that many times emotional experiences last and affect the individual behaviors long after the event originally linked to the emotion has spread. This can lead to continued avoidance of the trauma memory and sustain the occurrence of PTSD (p. 16). Ringel and Brandell (2012), bring out Foa and Kozak explanation that the individual reacts to the memory with the same cognitive, affective, and behavioral reactions related to the original trauma (pp. 16 17). Foa and Kozak, defined the emotional process as the initiation and

It was an arduous task to have open and responsive lines of communication between these states, however, given the close proximity of Italian city states and their need for open channels of communication made Italy uniquely opportune for the development and maturation of diplomacy. While some might consider this information mundane or inconsequential to the goal of discussing diplomacy at length, Berridge touches on these subjects because diplomacy, like everything, is not static. Therefore, diplomacy is both effected by its own history and by the administrative mechanism found within; a simplistic but critical point to make. Negotiation Negotiation is the most frequently used tool in diplomacy and, as Berridge points out, starts well before any representatives sit down at a table (Berridge 2010 pg. 27). There is a pre negotiation phase of arrangements that must be made beforehand in order to get all of the appropriate parties of a conflict to participate.

The objective of the performance was to present the transitions and effects that love has on people, by staging different myths and stories. In order to enhance the realism of the play, the daughters costume was chosen to represent the nature of a child. This costume choice was consistent with the director s concept and accurately communicated the age and relationship of the daughter to the father. In the story of the love struck boy, a man disguises himself as an old beggar women so that he may get insight on a girl he is in love with. The beggar costume created an entirely new relationship between the man and woman and allowed the man to freely approach his love to learn of her feelings for him. When discussing the design elements, I feel as though the element of light gets overlooked more times than not. Throughout the entirety of the performance, light played a key role in developing effects, and creating a visual reality. The first instance we saw light was in the myth of the greedy father and his daughter. In the story, the father is granted one wish; that everything he touches turn to gold. Unfortunately for the man, his wish comes true and every single thing he touches is instantly transformed to gold. In order to display this element of the play, a golden light was shined on any object the father touched, including his daughter. This light illuminated the action of the story and worked to fulfill the director s concept. As an audience, we also saw the use of light during an actor s important set of lines. In

The Belles Heures of Jean de France is a prayer book also called a book of hours, which was made for Jean de France, the Duke of Berry by Herman, Paul and Jean de Limbourg, more commonly known as The Limbourg Brothers. The Limbourg Brothers were actively making artwork in France during the early 1400s. Though they were all still teenagers they were very skilled as artists, and so they were hired to create a personal Bible for Jean de France by his brother Philip the Bold, Duke of Burgundy. The book was to be used as a private devotional to the Virgin Mary; in fact Belles Heures actually translates to beautiful hours. The precise folio I copied from the Belles Heures of Jean de France, Duke of Berry comes from the Hours of the Passion. The folio, numbered 142r, is entitled Christ Offered the Sop . This folio is one of three folios in total that depict in Crucifixion of Christ in the Belles Heures. The scene portrayed is taken from an account in the Gospels in which Christ on the cross calls out that He is thirsty. The soldiers standing by soak a sponge in vinegar that they stick onto a spear or a reed and offer to Him. Flanking either side of the cross are the Virgin Mary and the young apostle John the Beloved (Saint John) who are weeping as Christ suffers. As I looked at other illuminations from this book of hours, I noticed that the foreground of each usually appeared to be very small and limited in space while I found that many of the background spaces were filled with some type of pattern. This folio is a perfect representation of this style that the Limbourg Brothers implemented in their manuscript work which I kept in mind to include as I did my own recreation of the folio. The materials that the Limbourg Brothers used in creating this folio were ink, tempera, and gold leaf on vellum. I substituted a few of these materials in the making of my own. Instead of vellum, I used calligraphic parchment paper, which I found had a color similar to the

They were torn from their land of origin, stripped of all of their personal property, had their senses of originality and individuality stolen from them and were then forced to work in brutal environments where they were treated inhumanely. Yet still, many African (turned African Americans) were able to find time to both keep their culture intact and advance themselves and their fellow people. Both Leslie Alexander and Fredrick Douglass detail the tribulations African Americans went through in America who attempted to hold onto their senses of self in a place where everything around them was meant to restrict that very ability and how they managed ... The Africans who would partake in the burial practices in New York City were nothing of the sort. They still held onto several of the seemingly superstitious ideals from their homeland. These ideals allowed them to be able to, in a way, rebel against the system that tried to oppress them. It allowed for them to maintain a sense of hope because they believed that in death, lied a way for them to return to Africa. During their burial ceremonies, the New York African Americanpopulation would often bury their loved ones with shells, seashells to be exact. Seashells, come from the sea, as did the Africans who were brought here on slave ships. So by their belief, they would be able to return to Africa in the afterlife when they were buried with the seashells which would essentially mean that they were not bound to America in the way those who brought them there would have thought they

This paper will review the current OSA definition, summarize recent research on the prevalence and comorbidities of OSA, and then describe and evaluate data from OSA psychotherapeutic intervention studies. Defining OSA Online sex addiction in hypersexual individuals has been defined informally as when an individual experiences an intense preoccupation with nonparaphilic and/or paraphilic sexual desires, urges and behaviors as evidenced by the complementary /exclusive use of the internet as a tool to provide comfort when experiencing dysphoric mood states and/or stressful live events (Winkler et al, 2013; Kafka, 2010). As with substance use, misuse and dependence, hypersexual adults with OSA experience symptoms on a continuum of engagement (i.e., experimental, recreational, regular and dependent/compulsive) (Cooper, Galbreath, Becker, 2004). Persons with OSA may repeatedly have unsuccessful attempts to control or diminish the amount of time spent using the internet to engage in sexual fantasies, urges, and behaviors (Delmonico, Carnes, 1999; Delmonico Griffin, Carnes, 2002). Like in substance abuse/dependency, these persons can experience tolerance and withdrawal symptoms. There is controversy among researchers in the field regarding whether sex addiction is really a disorder (Kafka, 2010; Karila, 2014). The DSM V does not contain diagnostic criteria or treatment suggestions for sex

A multitude of people would argue that sex is not an addictionbecause it is something that can be controlled. We all have choices, and the choices are up to the individual to make and that choice should be don t do it if you don t want to get addicted. A prime example of a choice would be, alcohol. There are many people that are addicted to alcohol, however, alcohol is a choice. With addictions, people don t realize that it is all mind over matter. Some people feel that drinking will help take the pain away. While others do it just for the high that it gives them. See it s a choice. Could sex be put in the same category as alcohol? A multitude of people state that sex is a very enjoyable sport; that it makes them feel loved, it makes people feel comfort, and for many women, it makes them feel protected. Sex is physical, but it is also mental. Sex has the power to make someone feel emotionally attached to someone else. It has the power to change someone s mood. During interactions with my daughter, I have had the joy of watching much different reactions and responses as I implement empathic listening.
