No Homework Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "No Homework" can be a challenging endeavor, as it requires a
delicate balance of presenting arguments, providing evidence, and addressing potential
counterarguments. The intricacies lie in navigating through the complex landscape of educational
policies, student well-being, and academic achievement.
Firstly, one needs to delve into the educational philosophy surrounding homework. It involves
scrutinizing the purpose of assignments, questioning whether they genuinely contribute to
learning, or if they merely impose an unnecessary burden on students. The essay must explore
different perspectives, from educators advocating for homework as a reinforcement of
classroom learning to those who argue that it hampers creativity and imposes stress.
Additionally, research becomes paramount in substantiating claims. This involves scouring
academic journals, educational studies, and expert opinions to build a comprehensive foundation
for the essay's arguments. Analyzing statistical data on the impact of homework on academic
performance and student well-being adds a layer of complexity, demanding a thorough
understanding of research methodology and data interpretation.
The essay must also anticipate and address potential counterarguments. This entails considering
the perspectives of educators who believe in the value of homework for skill reinforcement and
discipline. Constructing a solid rebuttal requires a nuanced understanding of educational theories
and the ability to present counter-evidence effectively.
Furthermore, the language used in the essay must strike a balance between formality and
engagement. The writer needs to convey complex ideas in a clear and coherent manner, ensuring
that the audience remains engaged throughout. This involves careful consideration of tone,
structure, and the incorporation of persuasive techniques.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "No Homework" is no small feat. It necessitates a
deep exploration of educational philosophies, thorough research, and the ability to navigate
conflicting viewpoints. Balancing the complexities of the topic requires a skilled approach to
argumentation and a comprehensive understanding of the educational landscape.

The Battle Of The Civil War Essay
Of the number of different battles of the Civil War, there are only three that will be
mentioned in this essay. The purpose is to expand the knowledge of the three battles
and provide a better understanding behind the reasoning of the Civil War. In
addition, the wars, which consisted of bloody combats and unique strategies,
provided a settlement for who controls the United States of American and its future.
The three main battles that changed the course of history are the following: the
Battle of Bull Run, the Western Theater, and the Virginia Front of 1862. The result
of the war, of course, was the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery, permitted
the Union to gain control over the South, caused over 600,000 casualties, and
provided a victory for millions of African American slaves. Indeed, the war also
resulted in Lincoln s final draft of the Emancipation Proclamation. The two armies,
the Confederates and the Union, fought their first major battle in northern Virginia. It
was known that the Union had over 30,000 men under General Irvin McDowell s
control just outside of Washington. The Confederate, on the other hand, were located
approximately thirty miles away at Manassas. The smaller army was under P. G. T.
Beauregard. The first clash between the two happened on July 21, 1861, when
General Irvin McDowell led his inexperienced army toward Manassas. Thus, the First
Battle of Bull Run, or also called First Battle of Manassas, began. Toward the end of
the battle,
The Ethics Of Business Ethics Essay
Resource A discusses how ethics is crucial in business. There are three key ideas used
to understand this. Firstly, making ethically wrong decisions tend to cause more
upset than other general mistakes as purposeful unethical actions are not as easily
forgiven or forgotten. Secondly, ethics provides businesses with a broader
understanding of everything to do with their business. Business ethicsis effectively
just business it its larger human context. Thirdly, being unethical can tarnish the
public image of a business which can lead to a drop in sales and profits. There is a
myth in the business world that business and ethics don t mix. The reason ethics are
considered to be relevant to the bottom line is that regulation is the price business
pays for bad ethical strategy.
The whole point of business ethics is essentially to define and defend the basic goals
of prosperity, freedom, fairness, and individual dignity. This goes along with the 3 C s
of business ethics; compliance, contribution and consequences.
Business ethics are the foundation of business, despite business thriving on
competition, it survives on the basis of its ethics. Comparing business with a game
(practices) makes it easier to understand things like for example how having players
who cheat can impact badly on the business. Ethics is a way of thinking which can
defined under Solomon s eight rules.
Resource A provided me with a lot of new information about how important ethics

Knowledge Of Self And Its Impact On The State Of...
I.Knowledge of self
Reflecting over my life s experiences, thinking of a time when three of the social
work helping principles were applied the most, Is when I served as mayor for the
City of Okolona, Ms. This was a major accomplishment for me, however: the
elected position of mayor for a city in the state of Mississippi, had its structures.
One of which was the office of the mayor was the chief executive officer and is
responsible for the day to day operation of the city. The office of the mayor had
direct access to employee s personnel files. These files held highly sensitive
medical and health information all of which were highly confidential. It was
prudent that all employees who had access, to those files were properly trained and
that they fully understood the legal repercussion that could rain down upon those
who violated federal and state laws. I recall a time when self determination was
applied. It was during my first term serving the citizens of Okolona, MS. It was a
total shock and a hard adjustment for many employees and citizens of this fair city, to
believe and accept an African Americanas the chief executive officer of the city. In
retaliation, the Okolona Electric Department employee s treated to go on strike,
undenounced to them, this action is prohibited under the laws that govern the state of
Mississippi. After receiving a letter from the city attorney stating the state s
prohibition against any such attempt by city employees as well as teachers and
Descriptive Essay On Campus
Iowa State University offers a large campus. The campus itself entirely is around
the size of my hometown. I have lived on campus for a few weeks now, and I know
most of the campus, yet spend most of my time in my dorm. Whenever I am not in
my dorm or in class though, I often find myself wandering around campus. When
wandering around campus I usually look for the best spots for me just in case I
want to sit around and relax. Of my favorite spots to visit, they are closer and very
appealing to see. They however are also very popular places to visit, so many
students visit them. What I mean by closer, is that these places are not too far
away from my dorm on campus. I live in the Wilson Hall dormitory, known as one
of the Towers, and it is quite far from the main campus. Seeing as I walk everyday
to and from the main campus to and from my dorm, I tend to walk the same route,
as to shorten the walk time it takes and be familiar with the area. On days I walk to
my favorite spot, which is the second concrete benchnext to the Campanile, and I
just sit there for hours and relax. Wilson Hall s dining hall is called Storms, and is
located maybe 80 100 yards North of Wilson. As I leave through the North East
exit of Wilson Hall, I cross the diagonal sidewalk running from Wilson to Storm s
East Entrance/Exit. I tend to eat supper at Storms, and as I exit through the same
entrance, I leave and grab an apple to eat along the way heading to the Campanile. I

Needle Exchange Programs, Safe Injection Sites And
Address...
Needle exchange programs have long been a controversial subject with both the
general population and government lawmakers. The primary objective for needle
exchange programs (NEPs) is to prevent the spread of blood borne disease and is
very successful in doing so. But, issues of morality due to the perception of drug
enablement and the stigma of intravenous drug users (IDUs) and their potential
effects on the decline of society are continually used as arguments for those against
NEPs. It has been proven through many studies that these programs not only reduce
harms associated with intravenous drug use, they are also cost effective and reduce
the circulation of used syringes to the general population. Beyond epidemiological
efforts, NEPs also provide a de stigmatized center for gathering and offers health
services such as HIVtesting, counselling and referrals to treatment for drug addiction.
This paper aims to highlight the efficacy of needle exchange programs, safe injection
sites and address the social and political issues associated with them.
Intravenous drug users are some of the individuals most susceptible for contracting
and transmitting blood borne diseases such as the human immunodeficiency virus
(HIV), hepatitis B and hepatitis C. In Canada, there was an estimated 71,300 cases of
HIV at the end of 2011 with an incidence of approximately 2,250 to 4,100 cases.
IDUs account for 13.7% of Canadians living with HIV. Prevalence of hepatitis C
virus (HVC) is currently
Vince Gilligan s Breaking Bad
Since its inception, Breaking Bad had been more than an amateur drama series.
Vince Gilligan had created a compelling protagonist whom was a deeply flawed yet
charismatic genius. He created a life for Walter White that many of us can relate to.
However, other ground breaking TV serials discussed in class have also done
something similar, most notably David Chase s The Sopranos and David Simon s
The Wire. However Gilligan leveraged on various film elements to set his protagonist
in motion and to amplify what was to be communicated to the audience. Breaking Bad
was a story moving towards the ending. Not only that, there were also various notable
mise en scene that propelled it to be an intelligently crafted serial in comparison to its
counterparts.
In order to narrow down the scope of my discussion, scenic references of the
notable key film elements would be in relation to the eleventh episode of Breaking
Bad s Season Four, titled Crawl Space . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the lighting inside Walter s house is similar to that of a sitcom s set.
However, in the establishing shot of Crawl Space , a sense of unease and
impending doom was portrayed with the house overcasted with shadows. As Walter
descended into the crawl space in search of his stashed money, the lighting
progressively became of a higher contrast, casting a pitch black shadow on his face.
A narrow beam of light shone down on him, seeming to imply his diminishing
chances at self redemption. When Skyler entered, her face was washed with the same
white light that was on Walter s back. In the meantime, Walter laid in the dark and
looked up at her from the shadows. This image, together with the lighting
encapsulated Walter s descent into an abyss of darkness and immorality. The entire
scene utilised extremities in lightings to generate suspense and perpetuate the viewer
s discomfort to the unpredictabilities of the

Discussion of Margaret Atwood s Rape Fantasies
The author of the short story Rape Fantasies is Margaret Atwood She is a renowned
Canadian writer of poetry and fiction, she is best known for her novel The
Handmaids Tail. The short story that I chose Rape Fantasies comes from Atwood?s
first collection of short stories called Dancing girls and Other Stories.

We begin with Greta, a blonde with an attitude. She wants all of her peers to
admire her. She believes that she is one of the best people at their job. Her fantasy
begins in a place where most rape assaults happen, in the victim?s home. Out of
reality and back to fantasy she sees a man dressed as a burglar climb onto her
balcony on the 18th floor, coming into her apartment and stealing her body. Like
most rape cases she did use force of resistance so she allowed him to finish the act
of trying to overpower someone. This gives me the assumption that rape to her takes
place in a comfortable environment. Were you?re helpless and feel that there is no
importance to resisting. The thing that sticks out about rape to her is how the person
gets to you. In the story she gave more details about that than the rape its self.
In this case her rapist was swinging from balcony to balcony raping the females in
her building.
Then you have the other overly confident blonde. Her name is Chrissy. Through
the story you will find that most people go by the facts of places were rape occurs
because just like Greta, Chrissie?s rape fantasy takes place in her home. Chrissy
starts of in a particular room in the house , a room that you would think a person
would have to really be looking for you to rape in order to go their , the bathroom.
In her fantasy she sees herself getting raped in the

An Investigation into the Factors Affecting the Rate of the Reaction between
Calcium Carbonate and Hydrochloric Acid
A chemical reaction is the process by which atoms or groups of atoms are
redistributed, resulting in a change in the molecular composition of substances. The
reaction rate is how quickly a reaction occurs and this can be affected by four
different factors:
ВЎВ¤changing the surface area of any solids involved
ВЎВ¤changing the concentration of reactants in solution
ВЎВ¤changing the temperature at which it is carried out
ВЎВ¤the use of a catalyst
I am going to investigate into exactly how one of these variables affects the reaction

In order to make my experiment safe I will wear goggles and an overall when I
handle the acid as it is corrosive and if any came in contact with my skin during the
experiment I would wash it off immediately. As I described above, my experiments
will be fair as it will be performed under the same conditions, with hopefully only the
concentration of acid being altered for each experiment.
The equipment should be set up as shown in the diagram below:
The small marble chip will be placed in the conical flask first and then the
hydrochloric acid will be poured into the flask and as soon as all the acid is in I will
start the stop clock and put the bung on the flask. I will then watch the pencilled
cross from and above and stop the clock at the exact moment that I can no longer see
the circle. I will record this time in my results table and then set up the experiment for
the next measurement.
Modifications following preliminary experiment
For my trial experiment, I placed one small marble chip in 50cm Гё of 1 molar
hydrochloric acid and timed how long it took before a pencilled cross was no
longer visible under a conical flask containing 10cm Гё of limewater. Although the
limewater began to turn cloudy eventually, it took more than 10 minutes to do so
and I believe there were a few reasons for this.
Revenge In One Thousand And One Nights
Revenge is a Dish Best Not Served at All The tale One Thousand and One Nights,
also known as Arabian Nights is best known for its frame tale organization and its
scandalous tales that shocked and captured the European population s attention
during the 18th century, but it is the morals within the story that of are worth
noting. In the tale Shahrazad, the daughter of the king s vizier, tells stories to king
Shahrayar in hopes of prolonging the lives of her fellow citizens and hopefully
bringing the king to his senses. Her tales all hold a subliminal message that is
meant to teach the king that his current behavior is unacceptable and harming both
his citizens and himself. The dangers of jealousy and revenge, the pitfalls of greed
and the wonders of mercy are just some of the morals that her tales portray.
Examples of these themes can be seen in the stories of the three old men and the
overall tale of the merchant and the demon. In the first old man s tale he is telling
the story of his deer. He reveals to the demon that the deer was once his wife and
that she became a deer because of her actions. She grew jealous of my mistress and
my son (Puchner et al. 1191) The wife, furious at having to share her husband with

When confronting the merchant who killed his son, the demon doesn t just simply kill
the merchant and be done with it. The demon allows the merchant a year to get his
affairs in order and say goodbye to his family. This merciful act almost encourages
the merchant to not go back on his promise to return to the demon for his
punishment. Mercy is also portrayed by the old men in the story as well. The old
men risk their own lives in order to try to save the merchant from the demon. They
did not have to help him and the demon could have decided to kill them for
interfering. But they were able to help the merchant and save his
Key Challenges Facing Tata Motors
1.What were the key challenges facing Tata Motors in the process of moving to
produce passenger cars from successfully producing commercial vehicles?
Tata motors was blended in the year 1945 to endorse Peninsular Locomotive works
in order to assemble steam locomotives and boilers. This was done before
independence. After the independence, the policy of the Industrial Act was revised.
New changes were done which include that the production of railway engines were
restrained to state owned business/company.
Tata motors Indica was the elementary car which was launched in the market beside
maruti 800 which was already in the market and competing well in the automobile
industry. Maruti 800 had a competitive advantage over the other competitors ... Show

Honda. But due to government rules and regulations the joint venture was not setup
and hence failed.
With the failure of the J.V. between the companies, Tata Motors decided to launch a
new product in the market. It was the year of 1988 when Tata Mobile came into the
market to compete with other LCV. It was little different from a normal LCV as it
was a combination of a Car and a LCV.
The market was popularized with the introduction of Tata sierra in 1992 which had
two doors and was used as a personal transport.
Then came the Tata sumo which was a great hit in the market. Year 1994 was the year
in which multi utility vehicle was launched.
This was one of the main divergent by Tata Motor from 207 to multi utility vehicle,
which set a record of 90000 booking for the car and till now it has a market share of
twenty %.
Tata Motors main spot light was on the chain of production i.e. from raw material
coming in to after sales service.
Tata motors redistributed the value of Tata Indica to the outsourced parties. The time
duration for manufacturing the car was reduced. Previously it took 48 mths but now
after outsourcing it took only 31 mths. The total cost estimated was seventeen hundred
Paragraphs on THe Nemean Lion, Hydra, Ceryneia and...
1)THE NEMEAN LION
Heracles was commanded by Eurystheus to bring to him the hide of the Nemean
Lion. The lion had been terrorizing the valley of Nemea. The lion was a monstrous
offspring of Echidna and one of Orthus or Typhoeus, or had plunged from the moon
(Selene) to the earth.
Heracles used his bow and arrows to shoot the lion, but he noticed the arrows could
not penetrate its pelt. Thereby, he attacked it with his clubs causing the lion to run
into a cave that had two entrances. Hercules blocked one entrance, he then wrestled
with the lion and strangled it. Following this, he proceeded to skin it and wrapped
himself in its skin after offering a sacrifice to Zeus.

After Heracles successfully chopping off the immortal head and blocking it he
dipped his arrows in its poisonous blood. Anyone wounded by these arrows would
die. Furthermore, he buried the monster s head in the road between Lerna and
Elaeus and placed a big rock over it.
Despite Heracles completing this labor, Eurystheus denied to give him credit due to
the fact that he was helped by Iolaus to accomplish the feat.
3)THE HIND OF CERYNEIA
On Heracles third labor he was ordered to capture the Cerynitian Hind alive. The
nymph Taygette had devoted the hind to the goddess Artemis, the hind lived in the
Sanctuary of Artemis on mount Cerynea.
The hind was a deer with golden antlers and brass hoofs roaming the hills of
Cerynea between Arcadia and Achaea in central Peloponnesus. Heracles had
expected to capture it unharmed because it was sacred. Heracles pursued the hind
for almost a year, when he finally managed to capture the animal on the river banks
of Ladon after chasing it as far as the land of Hyperboreans.
Heracles was returning to Tiryns with the deer on his shoulders. He then met Artemis
and Apollo. Artemis rebuked him but let him pass upon insistence that the blame
should be placed on Eurystheus. 4)THE ERYMANTHEAN BOAR
The fourth labor involved Heracles being ordered to capture the boar that lived on
Mount Erymanthus and was ruining the land of Psophis.
Heracles first chased the boar out of its

Homelessness Is A Serious Problem
Homelessness is a serious problem in our society. So many people of all ages and
backgrounds are out on the streets. In the article Overview of Homelessness In
America it says that in the U.S. there are more than 3.5 million people that are
homeless sometime during the year. This number is extremely high. We cannot
ignore it anymore, and it needs to be reduced. Although we already have homeless
shelters, they are not able to get everyone off the streets; thus, it would be better to
build small, individual houses for the homeless. Most cities have at least one
homeless shelter. However they usually house the homeless just during the winter (
DC s plan to end homelessnessis deceptive ). This does give shelter to the homeless
during the cold months of the year, but people with disabilities may also need
shelter other times of the year. Homeless shelters are only so big, so they cannot
support all the homeless people. People are turned away from homeless shelters
when they are too full. If homeless shelters are getting too full then we need to try
another approach at decreasing homelessness. Homeless shelters alone cannot help
all the homeless people. They quickly move families out of shelters using
temporary rental subsidies. This could create a revolving door into and out of
shelters if families can t make it on their own when their subsidies run out ( DC s
plan to end homelessness is deceptive ). In the long run this does nothing to lower the

Analysis Of Blue-Collar Billiance By Mike Rose
Every contemporary society endures a division among the people, whether it s
because of social, financial, or political reasons. Mike Rose, the author of Blue
Collar Brilliance, is a professor at UCLA and an outspoken contributor on the
topics of literacy. Furthermore, Blue Collar Brilliance was published in a
prestigious magazine, American Scholar, in 2009. As the storyline of the article
revolves around the working American class, Rose writes it as a rebuttal to
misconceptions that people who are on a higher social ladder hold. What Rose
tries to convey in his article is that blue collar jobs are much more complex than
just its physical component. In his article, Rose utilized various strategies to
effectively attempt to persuade his readers through his personal experiences. The
article is rhetorically effective because it encompasses a variety of emotional
appeals, and successfully exhibits its logical aspect of arguments to establish a
connection between the past, and the contemporary belief regarding the blue collar
jobs. First, in his text, Rose effectively uses his personal experiences as a
foundation for his claims to conceive the emotion of compassion towards the blue
collar workers, as well as establish an understanding of the complexity of such jobs.
Rose writes about his family members, and attempts to achieve a much deeper
connection with his readers who might even relate to his own experience. Rose
reveals some of his memories by saying, Rosie took
Comparing Fanfare For The Common Man And Billy The
Kid
Aaron Copland was born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 14, 1900. Copland
was one of the most influential American Classical composers of the twentieth
century. Although Copland was trained in the Classical music of Europe, he started
to focus his attention towards American music. He felt that by infusing musiclike folk
and jazzinto his works that he could make classical music popular in America. By
doing so he was able to remove the European influence on American Classical music.
I have chosen to compare performances of two of his most famous works, Fanfare
for the Common Man (youtube.com/watch?v=FLMVB0B1_Ts) and Billy the Kid
(youtube.com/watch?v=H_mdvy2M13Q). Fanfare for the Comman Man was written
in 1942. The song was written for a WWII tribute for the Cinncinatti Symphony
Orchestra. Billy the Kid was a ballet commissioned by Lincoln Kirsten. It premiered
in 1938 in Chicago by the Ballet Caravan Company. Although the two works may
differ they both present the listener with a view of American life. ... Show more

the two works both tend to return to a main musical theme. The both tend to use
ornamentation in there melodies. Copland tends to limit the range of the instruments
in both pieces. I think he did that to help portray a more wild west American image.
Billy the Kid begins in the key of Ab Major, which helps give it a happy and
carefree mood. Fanfare starts in the key of Bb Major giving the song a majestic and
powerful feel. Both pieces form their harmonies with chordal notes spread over many
instruments. This once again helps achieve the American West
Life Blueprint
Your Life Blueprint Have you ever wanted to do an activity, but it has too many
obstacles that you have to face? Life is unpredictable and anything can happen at
any given moment. But how will you act the next time life gives you a roadblock or
a challenge? In the texts The Explosion, We Beat The Street, and the multimedia
clip October Sky, roadblocks happen quite often, and the sources show how
individuals are ready to overcome them in order to achieve their goals and blueprint.
In The Explosion, Homer faces not having support from his father and brother. While,
in We Beat The Street, the three doctors face having to grow up in a community

In all of the stories each of the roadblocks have influences, such as the setting,
people, and more. These influences affected the way they grew up and the way
they reacted towards certain things. For example in We Beat The Street the three
doctors (Rameck, George, and Sampson) grew up in a bad neighborhood in
Newark which was mostly gang area, so whoever they lived by meant they were
their friends. After hanging around them for a while they started to act like their
friends, and became obnoxious, jerks, and started to fool around a lot. This caused
them to be disrespectful to not only their friends and family but also their teachers.
Homer from the multimedia October Sky movie clip was influenced by where he
grew up because where he grew up no one really ever got a very nice job or
succeeded. Most people who grew up in Coalwood stayed in Coalwood and
worked in the mine. Injuries were often and when Homer s dad gets injured, in
order to still have a home and be able to live Homer has to work as a replacement
for his father in the coal mine. This caused him to appreciate what he has and made
him realize that he had to work if he wanted to do what he wanted, and what he
wanted was to go into space. After his dad recovered, Homer told his dad that he
hated coal mining. After this he started to really focus on his rocket for the
national science fair, that he ended up winning. Homer from October Sky was not
supported by his father and his brother. This caused him to want to attempt to prove
himself, so he began to work hard towards school and showed that he was more
capable of what his father thought he was, and that he was able to accomplish his
dream of working for NASA. This is how in all of the stories certain influences
affected them and how them made them who they are
Szymborska Use Irony In Poem
Use of irony and imagery in Szymborska s poems and their effectiveness in
conveying meaning
Szymborska s poems deal with various matters, mainly those related to her era. One
striking feature in her poems is her prominent use of irony and imagery. This essay
will explore areas where Szymborska uses irony and imagery in her poems and their
role in facilitating the reader s understanding of the ideas in each poem through
effects on the reader, with reference to the poems Starvation camp near Jaslo , Hitler
s first photograph , Cat in an empty apartment and Hatred .
Irony is one main technique effectively used in Szymborska s poems to help the
reader understand the ideas encompassed in them. In the poem Cat in an empty
apartment , Szymborska uses human actions and thought ... Show more content on

This is convoluted through indirect descriptions of the cat s anger at his master
from different angles unusual to a cat, like waiting till he turns up and thinking
whether he will ever get a lesson on what not to do to a cat . The purpose of
making it convoluted is to connote a sense of instability in the cat resulting from
his disappeared master. The reader is immensely surprised by the irony used in
giving thought processes to the cat, which are beyond the reader s expectation.
Phrases like get a lesson and show his face add to the irony. This irony, coupled
with the flow of these thoughts along with the details used, makes the reader feel
the cat s presence and hear his thoughts. This generates a sense of the cat as an
intellectual being and allows the reader to feel and understand the cat s anger under

American Domestic Families In The 1800s
ADD HOOK. The transformation of the ideal American family unit from a colonial
structure, that was based on the work of each member to survive, towards a
domestic family which was a prized ambition that the upper class, the middle class,
and the working class strived to achieve. Immigrants, the working class, and slave
families were unable to reach the domestic familyideal because of disadvantages such
as the jobs that they were capable of getting and their cultural backgrounds that
clashed with the new American domestic lifestyle. The new concept of the domestic
family was motivated by movements such as Protestantism, and the Market
Revolution, which highlighted set genderroles and believed in the importance of
emotion. Households that did... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Immigrants often did not know English well and were largely unfamiliar with the
traditions and customs which left them vulnerable and regularly looking to their
children for guidance since they had more contact with American culture in school. If
the parents felt resistant to adopting the American culture, their children were often
quick to adopt the American clothes and social interactions, which fractured the
family structure. Parents often did not want to practice this culture, however,
[Children] affected by these Americanizing influences, sometimes tried to force
American customs on their parents. Families who did wish to Americanize their
households to fit the domestic ideal found it difficult to give up tradition, often
mothers had a very difficult time loosening the control she had over the household.
Mothers became the target of Americanization campaigns because of her lack of
contact with American values, which often causes mothers to feel resentment, and to
grow more selective about what institutions they choose to accept into their families
traditions and values. Part of the immigrant population was very successful the
assimilation process because they were not only economically capable, but also due
to the fact that they were accepting of the change
Issues with Athletes’ Salaries and How to Change Them
Professional sports were beginning to be organized in the 1850s. At this point, their
salaries, although they were still higher than the average person s, were not too
outrageous. In the 1880s and 90s, baseball players in particular were making on
average about $1,750 annually. Even though this was three times the salary of an
industrial worker of the time, they were not happy with this amount of money and
felt they should be earning more (Baseball n.d.). In the 1970s, the worlds of
professional sportstook a drastic turn. According to an article by J.L. Carnagie, Two
words described sports in the 1970s: big business. Owners and athletes in major
professional team sports knew there was money to be made in their games, and they

According to a study done by American Demographics magazine in April of 1996,
the number of adults making $20,000 to $29,000 annually who attended sporting
events dropped from 11% in 1985 to 8% in 1995. This shows how exclusive
sporting events are becoming due to increasing prices. The attendance rates of
people in lower income brackets dropped, while the rates of people in higher
income brackets did not change much (Professional Sports Salaries, n.d.) Lastly,
but most importantly is the affect that athletes salaries have on children and
teenagers. Many people fear that the illusion given off by the professional sports
industry is detrimental to children and teenagers who are trying to decide what
they should do with their lives. Young people read about professional athletes and
hear about them on the news and from people around them all the time. They
realize the kind of money they make and that sounds like a great lifestyle to them.
What many kids do not realize is the very minute chance they have of actually
playing a sport professionally. Only about 1% of high school athletes go on to play
in college. And from those college athletes only about 1% go on the play
professionally. So the chances of becoming a professional athlete are about 1 in
10,000 or 0.01% for high school athletes and in 1997, 66% of seventh and eighth
grade boys expected to play professional sports as their career (Professional Sports
Salaries). Not only do children
Analysis Of The Book The Lion, The Witch, And The...
In 1950, eager readers approaching the children s fantasy section of the bookstore
were met with an unusual new title: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. To
children, the combination of those three things was intriguing enough. To adults, the
name of the author would have piqued more interest: C. S. Lewis, the renowned
Christian writer. His name appears on such other titles as The Screwtape Letters,
The Problem of Pain, The Weight of Glory, Miracles, and later Mere Christianity, a
hallmark of religious classics. While the younger generation pondered how Narnia
could fit into something as small as a wardrobe, mature readers would have mulled
over a different question. How does The Chronicles of Narniafit into his other
religious works?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite his sin, Digory repents of waking up the Witch and bringing her to Narnia
(see Moses 5:10 11) and plants a Tree to keep the Witch away. It may not be a
cherubim or a flaming sword (see Genesis 3:24), but it will prevent the Witch from
coming within a hundred miles (The Magician s Nephew, 189).
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
The first book in The Chronicles of Narnia contains the most obvious Gospel
reference. The story first gains traction when the Pevensies bring Christmas to Narnia.
[The White Witch] has made a magic so that it is always winter in Narnia always
winter, but it never gets to Christmas (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe 59).
Likewise, the New Testament begins with the birth of Christ (see Matthew 1:1, 18).
One of the Pevensies, Edmund, betrays Aslan to the White Witch, indirectly through
Deep Magic (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe 141 142). Judas s betrayal of
Jesus, while more deliberate than Edmund s, is described in John 18:1 5. Aslan is
able to overcome the Deep Magic by invoking Deeper Magic at the Stone Table,
and defeats the Witch after coming back to life. Likewise, the scriptures prophesy
of a Savior who will conquer death (see The Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 2:8) and
the world (see John 16:33). At long last, Adam s flesh and Adam s bone [s]it at Cair
Paravel in throne and [t]he evil time [is] over and done (The Lion, the Witch, and the

Stout and Bell capitalize the importance of narration in their writings to play part in
the identities of characters Jayanthi and Seth. Jayanthi, an Indian woman that
manipulates her sexuality to disprove societal and cultural labels which is
categorized by Bell as the Sexual Woman, takes narration into account when she
recollects her history to her friends and family. The adrenaline and eccentricity of
the stories give her purpose that is displayed through the context of her stories. She
also uses narration to interpret her desire for relationship but struggles to find one.
Bell explains after bad girl Jayanthi tells her sexual experience and relational denials,
She was aware now that she had been feeling insecure at the time, and that she had
been seeking out attention and affection... At the time she had longed for a sexual
history, for stories that would make her real and alive (33). Through her stories,
Jayanthi realized her faults in her immense sexual experiences that cut her away from
having a tangible relationship that would change her bad girl identity. Knowing that
she craves attention, she prefers the sexual lifestyle in order to have a purpose to
relate to in her stories. On the other hand, Stout s patient, Seth, utilizes narration to
directly tell Stout the effect that dissociation causes him. Dissociation disrupts Seth s
identity as well as his
Persuasive Speech On Alcohol
Alcohol guidelines are set clearly and the standard amount is stated clearly, yet 88000
people are killed of alcohol and 10000 people are killed of alcohol impaired driving
every year. Despite the large number of deaths caused by alcohol in the past years,
people seem to still continue in overtaking alcohol. There also seems to be an
addictionon alcohol and most people cannot stop drinking after their first try and
have slowly made it into a habit, drinking it at a daily basis, and people seem to
just forget/ignore the harms that the overdose of alcohol brings to us. I believe that
this is because they are still unaware of the consequences in overtaking alcohol, and
therefore I am going to clarify and show just how bad overtaking alcohol is.... Show

All it takes is willpower and determination. Since recovery is a long and gradual
process, don t give any excuses to yourself on drinking during recovery. That will
just make you addicted again, causing the problem to be even more severe.
Through this period of recovery, patients should avoid bad influences and
temptations which cause you to feel desperate without alcohol. Those will only
drag down your progress on the long pathway of recovery. If you have tried to
solve addiction in the past and have failed, reflect on your past experiences. Think
about what you have done wrong which has caused the failure of your plan and
avoid that. You want to be able to solve this problem as quick as possible, or else
the feeling of desperation for alcohol will slowly build up once more. Due to the
withdrawal from alcohol, there may be several mild side effects, including headache,
shaking, diarrhea, vomiting and so on, but it is all worth it if you can solve your
addiction in the long run, no matter how heavy the price is. Overall, to quickly
recover from addiction, determination is one of the key things which will help you
through this gruelling journey.
Conclusion:
Overall, we see that the consequences that overtaking alcohol brings is extremely
severe, and it can immensely harm us from different aspects, no matter health
decision making or family relationships. Therefore, we should definitely rethink
before getting our hands on an alcoholic
The Great Gatsby s Unrequited Love
I used to think that Gatsby was a character I should pity because of his unrequited
love for Daisy. Although I still feel bad for Gatsby, I also believe that what started
out as love as turned into mere interest and infatuation. One could say that Gatsby is
a romantic, but after reading Chapter 4, I realized that Gatsby is the sad teenage boy
who narrates his tale of woe about the manic pixie dream girl and pretends that it s
love. Gatsby and Daisy once had something real, but that was thrown away when
Daisy married Tom. This heartbreak has caused Gatsby to turn his relationship with
Daisy into something it never was: perfect.
No relationship is perfect, but Gatsby s relationship with Daisy was not an equal
partnership. It is obvious
The Rise and Fall of Dynasties in China
The rise and fall of dynasties in china
Introduction
Rhoads Murphey describes the history of China history is on the succession of
dynasties that ruled it over a period of time until around 1912 when Republic of
china was formed before rising to the current People s Republic of China was formed
in 1949. In China, a dynasty was made up of Kings or emperors that came from the
same family. They ruled in succession where a king could be inherited by his son or
his immediate relatives. Although china s history is majorly regarded on the basis of
dynastic ruling, other small kingdoms were established that ruled different part of
china. For example, in 200AD, the fall of great Han dynasty triggered formation of
smaller kingdoms all over the china which were later united by a short lived Sui
Dynasty that reigned between 580 and 618 AD.
In Murphey s book varied dynasties have been described how they came to power
and how they eventually collapsed. From his book, various reasons for dynastic
rise in china can be summarized as follows; most dynasties were founded through
force and especially when there was disorder in a given dynasty. This could even
break into a fight and those who won could take up and rule for a period of time
waiting to be overthrown by other powerful people. Dynasty could also rise as a
result of leaders who were very powerful and vigourous. These leaders could create
their own stable and prosperous kingdom that secured it territories and people.

What Is Ancient Greecenaean Culture
Ancient Greece
Greece is an important ancient civilization that is still alive today. Greece is an
amazing country with amazing culture . Greece has a rich and interesting history.
At various times in its history Greece included all of Epirus, Macedonia, and Thrace,
part of Asia Minor, and Magna Graecia. Archaeological remains show that Greece
had a long prehistory, dating from the Neolithic Age (c.4000 B.C.). By the Bronze
Age (c.2800 B.C.) important cultures had developed. The Aegean civilization had
several phases, two of the most important being the Minoan civilization and the
Mycenaean civilization. These cultures had disappeared by 1100 B.C. The Greek
speaking Achaeans migrated into the Peloponnesus during the 14th and 13th cent.
B.C. The Aeolians and the Ionians apparently preceded the Dorians, who migrated
into Greece before 1000 B.C. The Ionians, moving forth, possibly as refugees,
possibly as conquerors, settled in the Ionian Islands and on the shores of Asia Minor,
which became a part of the Greek world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the Greeks never rivaled the Phoenicians or the later Carthaginians and Romans as

Greed And Competition Are The Main Causes Of

Ever since the beginning of human existence, greed and competition have been
racing through our bloodstream. I believe that these reasons are the main causes of
European imperialism, including industrial advances. These tie into imperialism in
Africa because imperialism is pretty much rule by an emperor . The imperialism
spread quickly all over Africa, but each place was ruled by different colonies. The
three topics I will be discussing are greed, competition, and industrial advances.
These all relate to imperialism in their own specific ways.
The first thing I chose to believe that spread imperialism in Africa was greed. Greed
is a main concept in the human brain. Greed is an intense and selfish desire for
something, especially wealth,

several Biblical allusions. John Steinbeck uses Biblical allusions to create the theme
that strength to survive comes from faith by using characters and events. Steinbeck

people to achieve a common goal. When Casy tried to put his ideas into action he,
like Christ, aroused the antagonism of the people in authority and was brutally killed.

Isolation Of Women In The Medieval Period
The role of women in the medieval period were strictly designated. Women were
viewed as possessions and served the function of conforming to the authority or will
of others. Women in the medieval period cultures possessed almost no autonomy of
what they thought was right, therefore they were consistently at the mercy of their
lord or husbands as well as society. The work of these medieval women writers
impacted me by exposing and making me understand the sense of isolation and
desperation felt by women during that time period. And highlight their inability to
control their own standpoint because it was safer for women to disguise their
emotions by not showing them publicly. However, the writers also emphasized the

How Does The Appendix Affect The Human Body
The appendix is a tube shaped sac that is attached to and opening into the lower end
of the large intestine of humans and some other mammals. For human s the appendix
is an average of 9 centimeters long, but can range from 2 centimeters to 20
centimeters. The diameter is between 7 centimeters to 8 centimeters. The appendix is
most commonly located near the right hip bone in the right lower quadrant of the
abdomen(See Appendix A for image). The bottom portion of the appendix is
approximately two centimeters below the ileocecal valve, a sphincter muscle that

No scientist or research team has been able to discover what the appendix provides
or does for the body. Its has been an unsolved mystery for many years. A recent
study done by a team of scientists out of Midwestern University has suggested that
the appendix does have a function for the human body. The study was done by
tracking a total number of 533 mammal species for an overall of 11 million years.
The team looked for specific instances in which the appendix had disappeared or
reappeared. When the organ would reappear this would show that there was an
evolutionary necessity for the appendix.
Through this research and intense study it was discovered that the appendix
reappeared in mammals between 29 and 41 times. The organ had only disappeared
from lineages 12 times; this strongly suggests that the appendix provides a function to
the body that has not been discovered. The authors of the study wrote, Thus, we can
confidently reject the hypothesis that the appendix is a vestigial structure with little
adaptive value or functions among mammals. (Office of Communications,
My Experience Of Love
For me to tell you what love is, it is difficult to explain in detail. Love is an
emotion that people feel towards someone in particular, my parents tell me. If that
person accepts your token of affection towards them, it can become the happiest
moments of your life. But what if they reject, what if they do not feel the same
towards you? I had that experience, so I understand what it can be. It began during
my eighth grade year of school. I could not fathom what love truly was until I met
her. Holly is a name that I can not forget. Her auburn hair along with emerald green
eyes could topple a multitude of boys wherever she passes. I bumped into her one
day while rushing to class; unfortunately, knocking her onto the ground. I offered
her my hand to help her up. She grasped my hand tightly; astonishingly, something
clicked inside me when I felt the palm of her hand. It felt as if she was a witch
putting a hex on me. Could this be love? I whispered to myself. My face evoked
the color red, while also trying to force my mouth to apologize to her. After taking
a deep breathe, I tried to ask for forgiveness for bumping into her. Forgive me
please. I didn t mean to bump into you, I said. It s alright. I wasn t looking out for
people in the hallway, she said back. Would you want to sit together at lunch after
class, I sheepishly said. Sure, replied Holly. I was thinking of all the possible
outcomes of what might happen at lunch today. Before I could say anything, she

The Laws Regarding Corporal Punishment
Straus (2001) defined corporal punishment as an act carried out with the intention of
causing a child to experience physical pain, but not injury, for purposes of correction
or control (as cited in Straus Paschall, 2009, p.459). Two of the most prominent and
widespread kinds of corporal punishment include slapping and spanking (Straus
Paschall, 2009, p. 459 460). This paper will analyze the laws regarding corporal
punishment in many countries, the developmental theories such as the behavioral
cognitive, and sociocultural in the context of corporal punishment as well as the
harmful effects of corporal punishment on the physical, cognitive, and psychosocial
development of children in early childhoodwhich ranges from two to six years of age.
In many countries such as China, corporal punishment represents an acceptable and
necessary action to discipline children. However, in other nations such as Austria,
Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Israel, Italy, New Zealand, Norway,
and Sweden, corporal punishment is against the law (Berger, 2012, p. 310). Currently,
corporal punishment against children are legal in many U.S. states. Corporal
punishment on children is more common in southern states and families of lower
socioeconomic statuscompared to states in the New England region and families of
higher socioeconomic status (Berger, 2012, p. 310). Corporal punishment has
destructive effects on the physical aspects of early childhood development. As

Jehovah s Witness
Ever had your door knocked on by people from the church? Ever been harassed in a
very persistent way by the people who are supposed to make you feel comfortable
about the Bible and religion? Well those people are, previously known as Russellites
, but now known as The Jehovah s Witness church. Many of them have a rough
reputation of being pushy and annoying to many. They are a sect that originated out
of Pennsylvania in the 1870s as a Bible class led by Charles Taze Russell (Slick).
Russell had a difficult time dealing with the doctrine of eternal hell fire, and in his
studies he began to deny punishment for eternity, and the Trinity, the Deity of Christ,
and the Holy Spirit. He believed that the only way to interpret the Bible was through
himself, that being very dangerous because he controlled a lot of what went into the
local magazines and newspapers (Slick).
To support their doctrines, the Society has their own translation that fits their
church that they public announce as correct. Not only do they go door to door to
preach their beliefs and persuade others but also they have re translated the Bible
into what they like to call the New World Translation. Their translation of the Bible
is bias to other editions of the Holy Bible, but contradicts bits and pieces of their
doctrines. The Watchtower Bible/magazine and the Tract Society was founded in
1886 and became the body to get the Millennial Dawn
Knee Injury Summary
Summary of Article
This article begins with explain how even though volleyball is a non contact sport, it
holds a very high risk of injury. The most frequent way injuries occur are because of
poor landing techniques. Women are more prone to these types of injuries because
biologically they have weaker ligaments. The second most common injuries are
injuries to the ankle. Researchers have said that the best way to reduce injuries is by
practicing appropriate postural control. Postural control is also linked with balance.
Balance one of the main components of knee injury. Volleyball, basketball, and other
active athletes have not developed proper posture to land safely, causing many
injuries to the knee and ankles.
Point of Agreement
I agree that there has to be some reason for non contact athletes, like volleyball
players, are injuring themselves. It makes sense that the injury is caused by a poor
development of proper posture. With anything in sports, it is important to develop
proper form and technique to both execute the skill and be safe while playing. Many
athletes, even professional, have a hard time with proper technique. They think they
know everything about the game but forget the basics and end up injuring themselves.
Point of Disagreement
As much as it is probably true, I would have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It does a good job explaining that every injury has a cause of what happened. I like
how it talked about how something as simple as landing posture can be a huge cause
in major injuries across many sports, including volleyball. I think that these findings
can help encourage coaches of all sport train their athletes of proper form for both
sport specific tactics and non sport specific tactics. Injuries while doing something as
simple as running or jumping continue to happen and we cannot assume anything
will change unless we are coached

What observations do you make from these data about the sectors of the world
economy that have the greatest impact on world trade?
Manufacturing has the greatest impact on world trade since economies as USA,
China, Germany or Japan, in which key merchandises exported are manufactures, for
example cars or computers.
Natural resources such as fuel and mining products also play a key role in the
world trade, because every country needs to satisfy its needs of those resources,
especially if such resources are not available in a country. Countries such as Russia,
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Nigeria and Venezuela base their exports on fuel and mining
products, especially crude petroleum and petroleum gas.
Agriculture also has an impact on world trade, because developing counties
producing soybean meal or tea such as Brazil, Argentina and Kenya base their exports
on this sector of economy.
b.What observations do you make about how export and import trade vary with
region of the world?
The biggest export of manufactured goods occurs in Europe, Asia and North
America. A remarkable export of fuels and mining products compared to their export
of agricultural products and manufactures
The Capet Mass And The Caput Mass
Homework #6
1.Define the Caput Mass and the cyclic Mass and identify which one is a type of the
other.
Before delving into what the Caput Mass is, it s important to know it s origins and
what
led to it s creation. One type of mass that was a predecessor to the the Caput Mass
was the
cyclic Mass, which is a work featuring the major sections of the liturgy (the Ordinary)
as one
musical (not liturgical) unit that includes a cantus firmus, modes, motives, or other
composititional procedures. The differences between the cyclic Mass and the
Ordinary are
that the cyclic Mass doesn t contain the final Ite missa est, and the cyclic Mass isn t
liturgical
because the components of it (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei) are not
united,
despite being unchanging. The cyclic Mass also became the major genre that
composers
utilized during the 1400s to build their own works upon and allow their skills in
emulation and
composition to shine, because the cyclic Mass was large and very complex in
multiple parts.
In fact, due to how popular and monumental the cyclic Mass was amongst composers
during
those days, the cyclic Mass is often compared to symphonies during the 18th and 19th
centuries.
However, in a musical sense, the cyclic Mass and the 18th 19th century symphonies
cannot
really be compared to each other because the movements of the cyclic Mass had to
resemble

Effectiveness Of After School Programs
Due to after school programs receiving public funding, questions arose as to if after
school programs were effective. Effectiveness of after school programs, and
funding is now measured by academic improvement of students who attend after
school programs. Data on the effectiveness of after school programs have
conflicting outcomes. Some studies found a significant increase in student s
academics who attended after school programs (Durlak, Weissberg Pachan 2010;
Durlak , Weissber, 2007). Others studies showed no significant gains in academic
outcomes for students who attended after school programs (U.S. Department of
Education, 2004; Dynarski, 2015). The methodology of studies on the
effectiveness of after school programs has come into question. There are several
types of after school programs, and the attendance of students varies. Some
students attend five days a week, others once a month. Few of these studies factor
varying attendance and programs into the studies. Lack of methodologically sound
studies and dismal effect sizes have led to the publication of articles such as The
1.2 billion afterschool program that doesn t work. Articles such as this advocate that
after school programs have little effects on academics, and that the money for these
programs would be better allocated to other programs (Dynarski, 2015) After school
programs were initially created to give disadvantage youth a place to go after school
(Halpern, 2002). The primary objective of these

Great structures tell us what society values throughout history. Monuments aren t
created just for having bragging rights over another country. The importance of
creating these pieces of art is to retain the historical events that led to the creation of
monuments all around the world. Reaching 630 feet high and taller than any other
structure, stands one of the most recognized monument in the United States, the St.
Louis Arch. Built by an architect named Eero Saarinen, the St. Louis Arch is more of
a commemoration. Not only was the Arch dedicated to Thomas Jefferson for the
Louisiana purchase, but the Arch sends out a bold statement of national strength

Louis, Missouri is the Gateway Arch. The Gateway to the West invites people to
really think about what early St. Louis would ve looked like. Coming to the region
first, were the French and Spanish. During their exploration of St. Louis, both
found different groups of Native American tribes that were local to the region.
Author Tracy Campbell, who specialized in United States political and social
history at Duke University says Natives tribes included Osages, Missouri s, Iowa s,
and Omaha s (Campbell). Founded by a French fur trader, Laclede, was drawn to the
area because of its natural resources. For instance, Laclede found that having the
natural resource of timber became a crucial building resource for developing
settlements. After knowing that the region had reliability resources, another fur
trader named Auguste arrived. Bringing along three dozen of men, he found that this
outpost is the finest city and named it St. Louis, in honor of the French King Louis
XV. St. Louis official birth traces but to the late 1700s. Belonging to France in 1762,

Khrushchev s Removal Of The Soviet Union
The shift away from the period of DГ©tente is can be associated with the changing of
leadership and policies of the Soviet Union beginning around the time of Khrushchev
s removal from power. With the change of leadership and governmental structure, the
Soviet Union took a renewed hardline approach to populous dissent, and sought to
reestablish and solidify Soviet control over its domestic territory and satellite
governments. The new hardline government of the Soviet Unionmatched with the neo
conservative government of the United Statesunder Ronald Reagan saw a return to
earlier Cold Warhostilities.
The Soviet Union under Khrushchev was focused on internal economic and social
issues. Khrushchev sought to reform the government and economic policies through
investments in agriculture, and restructuring governmental organizations. These
plans created a weakened economy and administrative instability within the Soviet
Union. By 1964, Khrushchev reputation was beyond repair and that same year, he
was removed from power while on vacation. (shshu.edu)

While the United States issued a boycott of the Soviet hosted Olympics, and publicly
condemned the invasion, the true threat to Soviet expansion came from Pakistan and
the Middle East. Pakistan enacted a policy of containment against the Soviet forces
in Afghanistan back the United States. The Soviet Union policy of expansion was
ultimately checked by the election and doctrine of Ronald Reagan. With DГ©tente
completely gone, Regan enacted policy aimed at rolling back the Soviet expansion.
This is in direct contrast to the previous president s approach of containment in regard
to Soviet expansion.
Communication Within The United States Marine Corps
To be early, is to be on time, to be on time, is to be late, and to be late, is out of the
question. Being able to adhere to a given deadline in a group situation, demonstrates
responsibility, time management, group cohesion, and progress. However, being that
a group is a collection of individuals with separate lives, there are times when
members of the group may be experiencing extenuating circumstances preventing the
group from completing a task on time. In such a scenario, communication within the
chain of command is essential. Failing to communicate problems that may arise, and
inhibit group progression towards a task will result in failure to communicate the
task, group division, distrust between the chain of command and the group,... Show

In a military situation, lack of communication can result in the loss of lives, or
failure to accomplish a goal as the power and upper hand is now in the hands of the
force that was better prepared. In our specific situation, failing to communicate
issues that arise prior to assignment completion will make the group ill prepared to
deal with the burden of new assignments, and lead us subject to punishment at any
time. The constant threat of punishment, or attack from a lack of communication
leads the group to be in a disorganized state and make careless mistakes out of
emotion. Secondly, communicating an issue prior to a deadline develops trust
between a group and those in charge of the group. In the military this is very
apparent. In fact, the United States Marine Corps has a whole sector of marines who
are trained in a skillset called communications. Comm. Marines sole task to relay, and
update information between Marines on a mission and the chain of command. The
Marines on the mission develop trust and reliance amongst each other because they
know that should they lose the upper hand in battle, communication Marines can
relay this information and call in reinforcements to take back the fight, and allow the
ground Marines to continue their mission. In a group scenario such as ours, trust is
essential to group development and progress. If we are given an assignment, and a
group member tells us at the last minute they are unable to help, the rest of the

Motive Behind Helping People
One of my strength is trying my best to help someone without expecting anything
in return. Some people help others because they might receive a favor from that
person one day or the person might give them money. Many people ask me what my
motive behind helping people? My answer is simple, I don t help people because I
have to, but I help people because I think it is a privilege that God give me to further
glorify his name. One of my weakness is when I hear a parent or anybody talking bad
or negative about a kid. For example, strangers might gossip about Mrs. X kid is such
a bad kid, or Mrs. Y might repeatedly tell her kid, why are you so bad? Why can t
you be like the other kids at school? Not knowing that words are powerful, therefore,
Review Of Related Literature Of Starbucks
Related Literature Truell, Allen, Milbier, Michael (2007) said that promotion is one
of the four Ps of marketing price, product, place, and promotion. Promotion is
generally thought of as a sequence of activities designed to inform and convince
individuals to purchase a product, subscribe to a belief, or support a cause. All of the
various tools available to marketingmanagers for promotional activities constitute
what is known as the promotional mix. The promotional mix includes advertising,

  • 2. The Battle Of The Civil War Essay Of the number of different battles of the Civil War, there are only three that will be mentioned in this essay. The purpose is to expand the knowledge of the three battles and provide a better understanding behind the reasoning of the Civil War. In addition, the wars, which consisted of bloody combats and unique strategies, provided a settlement for who controls the United States of American and its future. The three main battles that changed the course of history are the following: the Battle of Bull Run, the Western Theater, and the Virginia Front of 1862. The result of the war, of course, was the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery, permitted the Union to gain control over the South, caused over 600,000 casualties, and provided a victory for millions of African American slaves. Indeed, the war also resulted in Lincoln s final draft of the Emancipation Proclamation. The two armies, the Confederates and the Union, fought their first major battle in northern Virginia. It was known that the Union had over 30,000 men under General Irvin McDowell s control just outside of Washington. The Confederate, on the other hand, were located approximately thirty miles away at Manassas. The smaller army was under P. G. T. Beauregard. The first clash between the two happened on July 21, 1861, when General Irvin McDowell led his inexperienced army toward Manassas. Thus, the First Battle of Bull Run, or also called First Battle of Manassas, began. Toward the end of the battle,
  • 3. The Ethics Of Business Ethics Essay Resource A discusses how ethics is crucial in business. There are three key ideas used to understand this. Firstly, making ethically wrong decisions tend to cause more upset than other general mistakes as purposeful unethical actions are not as easily forgiven or forgotten. Secondly, ethics provides businesses with a broader understanding of everything to do with their business. Business ethicsis effectively just business it its larger human context. Thirdly, being unethical can tarnish the public image of a business which can lead to a drop in sales and profits. There is a myth in the business world that business and ethics don t mix. The reason ethics are considered to be relevant to the bottom line is that regulation is the price business pays for bad ethical strategy. The whole point of business ethics is essentially to define and defend the basic goals of prosperity, freedom, fairness, and individual dignity. This goes along with the 3 C s of business ethics; compliance, contribution and consequences. Business ethics are the foundation of business, despite business thriving on competition, it survives on the basis of its ethics. Comparing business with a game (practices) makes it easier to understand things like for example how having players who cheat can impact badly on the business. Ethics is a way of thinking which can defined under Solomon s eight rules. Resource A provided me with a lot of new information about how important ethics really is to

  • 5. Knowledge Of Self And Its Impact On The State Of... I.Knowledge of self Reflecting over my life s experiences, thinking of a time when three of the social work helping principles were applied the most, Is when I served as mayor for the City of Okolona, Ms. This was a major accomplishment for me, however: the elected position of mayor for a city in the state of Mississippi, had its structures. One of which was the office of the mayor was the chief executive officer and is responsible for the day to day operation of the city. The office of the mayor had direct access to employee s personnel files. These files held highly sensitive medical and health information all of which were highly confidential. It was prudent that all employees who had access, to those files were properly trained and that they fully understood the legal repercussion that could rain down upon those who violated federal and state laws. I recall a time when self determination was applied. It was during my first term serving the citizens of Okolona, MS. It was a total shock and a hard adjustment for many employees and citizens of this fair city, to believe and accept an African Americanas the chief executive officer of the city. In retaliation, the Okolona Electric Department employee s treated to go on strike, undenounced to them, this action is prohibited under the laws that govern the state of Mississippi. After receiving a letter from the city attorney stating the state s prohibition against any such attempt by city employees as well as teachers and
  • 6. Descriptive Essay On Campus Iowa State University offers a large campus. The campus itself entirely is around the size of my hometown. I have lived on campus for a few weeks now, and I know most of the campus, yet spend most of my time in my dorm. Whenever I am not in my dorm or in class though, I often find myself wandering around campus. When wandering around campus I usually look for the best spots for me just in case I want to sit around and relax. Of my favorite spots to visit, they are closer and very appealing to see. They however are also very popular places to visit, so many students visit them. What I mean by closer, is that these places are not too far away from my dorm on campus. I live in the Wilson Hall dormitory, known as one of the Towers, and it is quite far from the main campus. Seeing as I walk everyday to and from the main campus to and from my dorm, I tend to walk the same route, as to shorten the walk time it takes and be familiar with the area. On days I walk to my favorite spot, which is the second concrete benchnext to the Campanile, and I just sit there for hours and relax. Wilson Hall s dining hall is called Storms, and is located maybe 80 100 yards North of Wilson. As I leave through the North East exit of Wilson Hall, I cross the diagonal sidewalk running from Wilson to Storm s East Entrance/Exit. I tend to eat supper at Storms, and as I exit through the same entrance, I leave and grab an apple to eat along the way heading to the Campanile. I walk up Welch Street,
  • 7. Needle Exchange Programs, Safe Injection Sites And Address... Needle exchange programs have long been a controversial subject with both the general population and government lawmakers. The primary objective for needle exchange programs (NEPs) is to prevent the spread of blood borne disease and is very successful in doing so. But, issues of morality due to the perception of drug enablement and the stigma of intravenous drug users (IDUs) and their potential effects on the decline of society are continually used as arguments for those against NEPs. It has been proven through many studies that these programs not only reduce harms associated with intravenous drug use, they are also cost effective and reduce the circulation of used syringes to the general population. Beyond epidemiological efforts, NEPs also provide a de stigmatized center for gathering and offers health services such as HIVtesting, counselling and referrals to treatment for drug addiction. This paper aims to highlight the efficacy of needle exchange programs, safe injection sites and address the social and political issues associated with them. Intravenous drug users are some of the individuals most susceptible for contracting and transmitting blood borne diseases such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B and hepatitis C. In Canada, there was an estimated 71,300 cases of HIV at the end of 2011 with an incidence of approximately 2,250 to 4,100 cases. IDUs account for 13.7% of Canadians living with HIV. Prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HVC) is currently
  • 8. Vince Gilligan s Breaking Bad Since its inception, Breaking Bad had been more than an amateur drama series. Vince Gilligan had created a compelling protagonist whom was a deeply flawed yet charismatic genius. He created a life for Walter White that many of us can relate to. However, other ground breaking TV serials discussed in class have also done something similar, most notably David Chase s The Sopranos and David Simon s The Wire. However Gilligan leveraged on various film elements to set his protagonist in motion and to amplify what was to be communicated to the audience. Breaking Bad was a story moving towards the ending. Not only that, there were also various notable mise en scene that propelled it to be an intelligently crafted serial in comparison to its counterparts. In order to narrow down the scope of my discussion, scenic references of the notable key film elements would be in relation to the eleventh episode of Breaking Bad s Season Four, titled Crawl Space . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, the lighting inside Walter s house is similar to that of a sitcom s set. However, in the establishing shot of Crawl Space , a sense of unease and impending doom was portrayed with the house overcasted with shadows. As Walter descended into the crawl space in search of his stashed money, the lighting progressively became of a higher contrast, casting a pitch black shadow on his face. A narrow beam of light shone down on him, seeming to imply his diminishing chances at self redemption. When Skyler entered, her face was washed with the same white light that was on Walter s back. In the meantime, Walter laid in the dark and looked up at her from the shadows. This image, together with the lighting encapsulated Walter s descent into an abyss of darkness and immorality. The entire scene utilised extremities in lightings to generate suspense and perpetuate the viewer s discomfort to the unpredictabilities of the

She believes that she is one of the best people at their job. Her fantasy begins in a place where most rape assaults happen, in the victim?s home. Out of reality and back to fantasy she sees a man dressed as a burglar climb onto her balcony on the 18th floor, coming into her apartment and stealing her body. Like most rape cases she did use force of resistance so she allowed him to finish the act of trying to overpower someone. This gives me the assumption that rape to her takes place in a comfortable environment. Were you?re helpless and feel that there is no importance to resisting. The thing that sticks out about rape to her is how the person gets to you. In the story she gave more details about that than the rape its self. In this case her rapist was swinging from balcony to balcony raping the females in her building. Then you have the other overly confident blonde. Her name is Chrissy. Through the story you will find that most people go by the facts of places were rape occurs because just like Greta, Chrissie?s rape fantasy takes place in her home. Revenge In One Thousand And One Nights Revenge is a Dish Best Not Served at All The tale One Thousand and One Nights, also known as Arabian Nights is best known for its frame tale organization and its scandalous tales that shocked and captured the European population s attention during the 18th century, but it is the morals within the story that of are worth noting. In the tale Shahrazad, the daughter of the king s vizier, tells stories to king Shahrayar in hopes of prolonging the lives of her fellow citizens and hopefully bringing the king to his senses. Her tales all hold a subliminal message that is meant to teach the king that his current behavior is unacceptable and harming both his citizens and himself. The dangers of jealousy and revenge, the pitfalls of greed and the wonders of mercy are just some of the morals that her tales portray. Examples of these themes can be seen in the stories of the three old men and the overall tale of the merchant and the demon. In the first old man s tale he is telling the story of his deer. He reveals to the demon that the deer was once his wife and that she became a deer because of her actions. The nymph Taygette had devoted the hind to the goddess Artemis, the hind lived in the Sanctuary of Artemis on mount Cerynea. The hind was a deer with golden antlers and brass hoofs roaming the hills of Cerynea between Arcadia and Achaea in central Peloponnesus. Heracles had expected to capture it unharmed because it was sacred. Heracles pursued the hind for almost a year, when he finally managed to capture the animal on the river banks of Ladon after chasing it as far as the land of Hyperboreans. Heracles was returning to Tiryns with the deer on his shoulders. He then met Artemis and Apollo. Artemis rebuked him but let him pass upon insistence that the blame should be placed on Eurystheus. 4)THE ERYMANTHEAN BOAR The fourth labor involved Heracles being ordered to capture the boar that lived on Mount Erymanthus and was ruining the land of Psophis. In the article Overview of Homelessness In America it says that in the U.S. there are more than 3.5 million people that are homeless sometime during the year. This number is extremely high. We cannot ignore it anymore, and it needs to be reduced. Although we already have homeless shelters, they are not able to get everyone off the streets; thus, it would be better to build small, individual houses for the homeless. Most cities have at least one homeless shelter. However they usually house the homeless just during the winter ( DC s plan to end homelessnessis deceptive ). This does give shelter to the homeless during the cold months of the year, but people with disabilities may also need shelter other times of the year. Homeless shelters are only so big, so they cannot support all the homeless people. People are turned away from homeless shelters when they are too full. If homeless shelters are getting too full then we need to try another approach at decreasing homelessness. Homeless shelters alone cannot help all the homeless people. They quickly move families out of shelters using temporary rental subsidies. This could create a revolving door into and out of shelters if families can t make it on their own when their subsidies run out ( DC s plan to end homelessness is deceptive ). In the long run this does nothing to lower the number of

Mike Rose, the author of Blue Collar Brilliance, is a professor at UCLA and an outspoken contributor on the topics of literacy. Furthermore, Blue Collar Brilliance was published in a prestigious magazine, American Scholar, in 2009. As the storyline of the article revolves around the working American class, Rose writes it as a rebuttal to misconceptions that people who are on a higher social ladder hold. What Rose tries to convey in his article is that blue collar jobs are much more complex than just its physical component. In his article, Rose utilized various strategies to effectively attempt to persuade his readers through his personal experiences. The article is rhetorically effective because it encompasses a variety of emotional appeals, and successfully exhibits its logical aspect of arguments to establish a connection between the past, and the contemporary belief regarding the blue collar jobs. First, in his text, Rose effectively uses his personal experiences as a foundation for his claims to conceive the emotion of compassion towards the blue collar workers, as well as establish an understanding of the complexity of such jobs. Rose writes about his family members, and attempts to achieve a much deeper connection with his readers who might even relate to his own experience. Copland was one of the most influential American Classical composers of the twentieth century. Although Copland was trained in the Classical music of Europe, he started to focus his attention towards American music. He felt that by infusing musiclike folk and jazzinto his works that he could make classical music popular in America. By doing so he was able to remove the European influence on American Classical music. I have chosen to compare performances of two of his most famous works, Fanfare for the Common Man (youtube.com/watch?v=FLMVB0B1_Ts) and Billy the Kid (youtube.com/watch?v=H_mdvy2M13Q). Fanfare for the Comman Man was written in 1942. The song was written for a WWII tribute for the Cinncinatti Symphony Orchestra. Billy the Kid was a ballet commissioned by Lincoln Kirsten. This shows how exclusive sporting events are becoming due to increasing prices. The attendance rates of people in lower income brackets dropped, while the rates of people in higher income brackets did not change much (Professional Sports Salaries, n.d.) Lastly, but most importantly is the affect that athletes salaries have on children and teenagers. Young people read about professional athletes and hear about them on the news and from people around them all the time. No scientist or research team has been able to discover what the appendix provides or does for the body. Its has been an unsolved mystery for many years. A recent study done by a team of scientists out of Midwestern University has suggested that the appendix does have a function for the human body. The study was done by tracking a total number of 533 mammal species for an overall of 11 million years. The team looked for specific instances in which the appendix had disappeared or reappeared. When the organ would reappear this would show that there was an evolutionary necessity for the appendix. Through this research and intense study it was discovered that the appendix reappeared in mammals between 29 and 41 times. The organ had only disappeared from lineages 12 times; this strongly suggests that the appendix provides a function to the body that has not been discovered. The authors of the study wrote, Thus, we can confidently reject the hypothesis that the appendix is a vestigial structure with little adaptive value or functions among mammals. If that person accepts your token of affection towards them, it can become the happiest moments of your life. But what if they reject, what if they do not feel the same towards you? I had that experience, so I understand what it can be. It began during my eighth grade year of school. I could not fathom what love truly was until I met her. Holly is a name that I can not forget. Her auburn hair along with emerald green eyes could topple a multitude of boys wherever she passes. I bumped into her one day while rushing to class; unfortunately, knocking her onto the ground. I offered her my hand to help her up. She grasped my hand tightly; astonishingly, something clicked inside me when I felt the palm of her hand. It felt as if she was a witch putting a hex on me. Could this be love? I whispered to myself. My face evoked the color red, while also trying to force my mouth to apologize to her. After taking a deep breathe, I tried to ask for forgiveness for bumping into her. Forgive me please. I didn t mean to bump into you, I said. It s alright. I wasn t looking out for people in the hallway, she said back. Would you want to sit together at lunch after class, I sheepishly said. Sure, replied Holly. Well those people are, previously known as Russellites , but now known as The Jehovah s Witness church. Many of them have a rough reputation of being pushy and annoying to many. They are a sect that originated out of Pennsylvania in the 1870s as a Bible class led by Charles Taze Russell (Slick). Russell had a difficult time dealing with the doctrine of eternal hell fire, and in his studies he began to deny punishment for eternity, and the Trinity, the Deity of Christ, and the Holy Spirit. He believed that the only way to interpret the Bible was through himself, that being very dangerous because he controlled a lot of what went into the local magazines and newspapers (Slick). To support their doctrines, the Society has their own translation that fits their church that they public announce as correct. Not only do they go door to door to preach their beliefs and persuade others but also they have re translated the Bible into what they like to call the New World Translation. Their translation of the Bible is bias to other editions of the Holy Bible, but contradicts bits and pieces of their doctrines. The most frequent way injuries occur are because of poor landing techniques. Women are more prone to these types of injuries because biologically they have weaker ligaments. The second most common injuries are injuries to the ankle. Researchers have said that the best way to reduce injuries is by practicing appropriate postural control. Postural control is also linked with balance. Balance one of the main components of knee injury. Volleyball, basketball, and other active athletes have not developed proper posture to land safely, causing many injuries to the knee and ankles. Point of Agreement I agree that there has to be some reason for non contact athletes, like volleyball players, are injuring themselves. It makes sense that the injury is caused by a poor development of proper posture. With anything in sports, it is important to develop proper form and technique to both execute the skill and be safe while playing. Before delving into what the Caput Mass is, it s important to know it s origins and what led to it s creation. One type of mass that was a predecessor to the the Caput Mass was the cyclic Mass, which is a work featuring the major sections of the liturgy (the Ordinary) as one musical (not liturgical) unit that includes a cantus firmus, modes, motives, or other composititional procedures. The differences between the cyclic Mass and the Ordinary are that the cyclic Mass doesn t contain the final Ite missa est, and the cyclic Mass isn t liturgical because the components of it (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei) are not united, despite being unchanging. The cyclic Mass also became the major genre that composers utilized during the 1400s to build their own works upon and allow their skills in emulation and composition to shine, because the cyclic Mass was large and very complex in multiple parts. In fact, due to how popular and monumental the cyclic Mass was amongst composers during those days, the cyclic Mass is often compared to symphonies during the 18th and 19th centuries. However, in a musical sense, the cyclic Mass and the 18th 19th century symphonies cannot really be compared to each other because the movements of the cyclic Mass had to
