This document summarizes and compares the portrayal of society in Henry Louis Vivian Derozio's poem "The Fakeer of Jungheera" and two Bollywood movies, Dhadak and Ramleela. In the poem and movies, issues of casteism, attitudes towards love, the condition of women, and the influence of politics on relationships are highlighted. All three stories depict lovers, especially women, suffering due to social norms and injustice. They reflect the ugly side of a society where true lovers cannot survive happily because of rigid social rules.
