2. Is Radio better than Television?

3. Development of Radio
• Radio waves were first identified and studied by German
physicist Heinrich Hertz in 1886. The first practical radio transmitters
and receivers were developed around 1895-6 by Italian Guglielm
Marconi, and radio began to be used commercially around
1900.(Wikipedia)
• The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) was the first to use radio
as a forum for addressing public issues.
• The BBC aired a debate on communism on February 22, 1923 and the
public reaction was favorable.

4. Development of Television
• German inventor Paul Gottlieb Nipkow had developed the first mechanical
television. That device sent images through wires using a rotating metal
disk. Instead of calling the device a television, however, Nipkow called it
an “electric telescope”. The device had 18 lines of resolution.
• The world’s first electronic television was created by a 21 year old inventor
named Philo Taylor Farnsworth. That inventor lived in a house without
electricity until he was age 14. Starting in high school, he began to think of
a system that could capture moving images, transform those images into
code, then move those images along radio waves to different devices.

5. Difference between Radio & Television
• Television’s Greatest Strength is Visual
• Television allows you to back up the story you want to tell with
visual cues that can elicit the desired response from your
audience. When strong copy and smooth dialogue fail to
interest viewers, visual imagery and special effects can keep
them watching. Television offers vast reach in the digital era,
and good stories coupled with great dialogue and appealing
imagery are a formula for spinning gold time and time again.

6. • Radio Relies on Strong Copy to Excite the
Imagination
• Radio doesn’t have the ability to fall back on visual effects to
keep listeners engaged. This means that radio presenters and
advertisers must become masters of creating a theater of
imagination that engages listeners. This is more of a challenge
and requires endless creativity and the ability to engage readers
with little more than words and sounds. It is the perfect stage for
creative people and wordsmiths.

• Easy & cheap source of entertainment
• Informed & up to date with news
• Increase our knowledge
• Learn different language
• Health benefit

8. Is Radio better than Television?
According to me, ”You can close your eyes, but you can’t close your
ears.”
• Radio is far better than television just as reading is better than
writing
• Developed listening skill
• Developed imaginative skill
• Listening & working at same time
• Less amount
• No need of internet connection
