A Brief Biography of Rosa Parks
Have you ever heard of Rosa Parks? She stood up for rights of black people. If it wasn t for Rosa we
wouldn t be able to go to the same school with some of the friends we have today. She never stopped
on what she believed in. She was one of the people who started the bus boycott in Alabama. In this
biography you will learn about Rosa s childhood, adulthood, and greatest accomplishments. Lets learn
about Rosa and what lead her to standing up for herself and others in a big way.
Rosa Parks was born February 4, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. Rosa had a younger brother, Sylvester.
Rosa s family moved town to town when she was a baby. Rosa s family moved in with her mother s
mom and dad, when she was little. Rosa s father didn t want to stay in Pine Level, Alabama with her
grandparents, so he left for good when Rosa was just 2 years old! Rosa was taught to read by her
mother at a young age. Once Rosa was old enough to go to school, she went to a one room school in
Pine Level. The school didn t have many school supplies. Rosa lived 8 miles from school, she could
not take the bus, so she walked, 8 miles to, 8 miles back. Once or twice , Rosa stood up to white boys
who were teasing her or her brother. Rosa was very brave as a child. As you can see, Rosa had tough
times when she was a child. Now, lets go to the future and see what Rosa s adulthood is like!
Rosa, in her later years, refused to drink water from the water fountains that were for blacks, only. She
would rather go

Comparing Suspense In The Sniper And Once Upon A Time
Suspense Essay
Aaron Little Holder
The Sniper and Once Upon a time give off different elements of suspense. When you read these two
stories they give off different vibes. In both stories you will see that there are both differences and
similarities.
In the story The Sniper the element of suspense starts with the setting. The story takes place during the
civil war in Ireland. The sniper is isolated and the time of day is twilight. We don t have a lot of
information about what is going on during the story. The story is being told by a third person so the
reader can only see what the person who is telling the story sees and feel. The mood that is set in the
story also adds to the suspense of the story. The images and sounds and the details shared throughout
the story lets the reader know that something bad is going to happen. Finally, the plot of the story
creates suspense. We are not aware of the background of the characters in the story. The narrator does
not share information about the different snipers and what may ... Show more content on

The story begins with the author telling the story from her point of view. She is home alone and the
time of day is night time. The suspense starts when she says that she was aroused by a strange sound.
This creates suspense. The author then starts telling herself a bedtime story. She begins telling the
story like a fairy tale. In all fairy tales there is a moral. This creates suspense. The story is now being
told from a third person s point of view. As the story is being told, the reader can begin to see that the
families fears, suspicions and mistrust are getting out of hand. You can see that the family is doing too
much and that they are about to put themselves in a situation that is not good. The story starts off with
a perfect family in the perfect home, just like a fairy tale starts, however it ends in tragedy. The son

Examples Of Romantic Narrative In Mass Media
Romantic Narratives in Mass Media: The Construction of Ideals
As Television sales increased in the 1940s, more homes in the United States included TVs as a
common accessory in the family room. Since then, televisions have become another tool for
socialization individuals use to try and make sense of the world around them (Riesman, Denny,
Glaser, 1950). Furthermore, the combination of romance and mass media produced narratives
continues to be a prominent form of entertainment where TV writers and producers construct a picture
of what love should look like.
The way romantic relationships develop and the expectations individuals have for courtships vary by
culture; therefore, this proposed study will focus solely on images of idealized romance through a
Western lens. In general, romantic relationships in Western societies are guided by personal choice,
passion, and the notion of love at first sight. As you watch television or popular movies in the United
States, you can see examples of this type of love embedded into our media. For instance, the CBS
show How I Met Your Mother based each episode on the main character, Ted Mosby s quest for love.
As the show moves through its eight seasons, the viewer sees Ted go from one unhappy relationship to
another until he meets his ideal partner and eventually finds true love. Many shows like this center
around the main character s journey for his or her soul mate. The media has created certain
expectations of an idealized

Stereotypes In American Beauty
The film I will be analyzing is American Beauty written by Alan Ball. I will be discussing the
representation of men and the male body. This late 90 s narrative structure film American Beauty
narrates the changes in gender roles and how they have impacted society in contrast to the traditional
male bread winners and female homemakers of past times. The characters in this film are defined
through their sexuality in the roles they play. This film also relates to the theme of identity and
explores the expectations society has placed on stereotypes in how we function and how we identify
ourselves.
From the beginning of this film one can immediately see who wears the pants in the family. Lester
Burnham, a magazine writer who despises his job is frustrated with his marriage and has little sexual
contact with his wife Carolyn. Although, Lester is a male he portrays a traditional submissive female
role in this film. Carolyn, an ambitious real estate broker, who is also discontented with her their
marriage is having an affair with another realtor. She takes on a more male dominating role in the
family. In this active role, Carolyn becomes the strong central female character, assuming
untraditional masculine roles where men have been considered more active in earlier decades.
They both live with their teenage daughter Jane, who spends most of ... Show more content on

He pictures himself constantly spending time with Angela s nude body covered in red roses. The
continual use of the color red throughout his fantasies projects Lester s desire and lust for Angela. This
film uses lighting, color and close ups to erotically emphasis the concept of beauty and the
fragmentation of Angela s body. Lester s lust for Angela causes him to become obsessed with working
out to attract her attention, but Jane is actually interested in Ricky, the Burnham s new neighbor who
lives with his strict retired military father, Colonel

Is Attrition A Negative Impact On Late Stage Doctoral...
Literature Review Willis and Carmichael (2011) presented foundlings stating that attrition is defined
by the experiences gathered in the doctoral study rather than the stage at which erosion occurs. The
study share relevant similarities to previous research, indicating perverse experiences could lead to
pessimistic outcomes regardless of the field or stage of the doctorate program (Willis and Carmichael,
2011). The theoretical foundations of this case study support the synthesis arguments of Hoskins and
Goldberg (2005) that stated dissertation committee chair post a problematic negative impact on late
stage doctoral attrition. Other scholars argue the results of the current research. Incomplete doctoral
learners all assert how a problematic relationship with their dissertation chair played a significant role
in their decision to leave the program (Willis and Carmichael, 2011). However, Willis and Carmichael
(2011) identified the gap and addressed problems in the attrition decision. Dropped out learners were
not allowed to achieve their goals, and that resulted in negative emotions (Willis and Carmichael
(2011). According to Willis and Carmichael (2011), comparatively, students that willing quit the
dissertation process no longer desire the degree, and thus experienced positive emotions related to
attrition, but more research is needed. Phenomenon Key Component The event key element in this
qualitative study describes dissertation committee chair as the problem in

Plot Structure Of A Quest Analysis
The author supported the idea of stories being quests through this sentence. Not only did the author
describe what is needed for a story to be considered a quest, the author also described the fundamental
structure of a plot. The author uses the quest analogy in order to make the reader aware of how stories
have the same basic structure. This being the first chapter reinforces the idea of the author introducing
the structure of a plot. It would only be logical to start a book on how to properly read and analyze
books with the basics. How the author disguises the plot structure as a structure of a quest is helpful
because it makes it a much more easy way to connect ideas. While most people are aware of a plot
structure, it would be easier

Animal Transport System
Effective transport systems in multicellular plants and animals, although with apparent differences,
have similarities as they all possess a system of vessels in which substances are transported, a driving
mechanism to ensure that substances move in the correct direction and importantly, a suitable
transport medium.
What is transport medium and which chemicals are carried around your body? (Make sure you are
talking about main ones and their form)
Blood is the fluid transport that flows through the heart and blood vessel of the cardiovascular system
in vertebrates. Blood distributes heat around the body, as well as the nutrients and gases required by
the body and the wastes to be excreted from the body. It also carries other chemicals such as
hormones, glucose, and oxygen for aerobic respiration, antibodies to fight infections, clotting factors
and many other substances required by the body to function efficiently.

These two systems both possess the heart as the core mechanism, a fluid that transports substances and
a system of vessels. The function of the transport system in animals is to deliver nutrients and gases to
the cell and to collect and remove wastes. With the movement of the blood around the body, the
composition of blood cells and plasma remain relatively the same but the concentration of dissolved
substances and gases change depending on the organ it s passing through. There are a number of
notable differences, but the most important is that a closed circulatory system has the transport fluid
surrounded within the system of vessels at all times. However, in an open circulatory system, the
transport fluid leaves the vessels, enters cavities in the body and come in direct contact with the
organs. Overall, open circulatory systems are not as efficient as closed stems because the fluid
pressure is low, causing the transport fluid to circulate

My Greatest Experience
The greatest experience of my life
Can you recall the greatest experience of your life? Football has been a love of mine since I was a
undersized kid. I really grew attached to a team called the Washington Redskins. A lot of my sundays
were spent in front of the television gazing as the Redskins put in work. On September 24th my dad
came home with pale papers in his rugged hand. He placed the papers in my grip which were tickets to
go see the Redskins play the Chiefs in Kansas City on October 2nd.
First off, the excitement I felt rush throughout my body was nothing i ve ever felt in the time that i ve
spent on this Earth. It was hard to believe that I was actually going to see the team I watched growing
up. One of the best parts about it was going to the loudest stadium in the United States. I knew going
into the game that the Kansas City Chiefs were no joke, because they were undefeated on the season at
that point.
Secondly, I woke up on the second of October smelling victory, which also smelt like pancakes. I
tasted a golden sticky syrup on my puffy pancakes. I had glorious pieces of bacon that tasted like god
made them himself. I made sure to get enough food to last me the lengthy excruciating car ride.
Next, it was time for a quick shower so I didn t smell funky. It was probably one of the quickest
showers I have ever taken due to being ready to get on the road for the game. Please don t take points
off for this but, I am always curious if teachers read

The Ghost of Hamlet Essay
The Ghost of the previous Danish king in Hamlet is a potent element that causes Prince Hamlet
variety of reactions toward the world around him and the unexpected killer, King Claudius. Besides,
the ghost is the tool of knowledge that lights Hamlet s heart with the love of insisting on searching the
credibility of the crime. The Ghost of Hamlet s father commanded his son to do the act of revenge
from his uncle the King of Denmark the killer of his father and the husband of his mother. Hamlet has
been affected by the Ghost s command and his situation has been shifted from the psychological
disorder situation before discovering the truth of the crime to accept the reality of the world around

It is in William Shakespeare that the created individual (Hamlet), created out of that very space of
meaninglessness, enters for the first time into a genuine conflictual relationship; the genuine in the
sense that the opponents are equal of power. Prince Hamlet materializes as an individual who has a
miserable and weak identity, this kind of complex identity has a sense of hopeless and out of health
condition affected by the psychological problem. For example, when Hamlet pretends to be a weird
person while he is reading the book and talking with Polonius sarcastically, he actually has that sense
of weirdness outside and inside himself, but at the same time he is in full mental power that
contradicts himself. So, even when he pretends that he is mad and foolish, they affect his psychology
thus it seems to be true. The character of Hamlet would appear to be no character at all because a
name cannot be found for it, or which is the same thing because too many can be found. That means
that Hamlet identity has been wiped out as he is so singular, unspeakable person because he cannot
find and present himself in one place whereas he has the power to do react and revenge directly but
the hesitation prohibited him to any such action. A powerful vagueness invests the play s treatment of
inheritance. This statement means that Hamlet is recognized as unlucky son who years

The Rock Band Aerosmith s Success Story Essay
Etched deep in the spirit of every person are the memories of life altering mistakes. For most people,
these mistakes devastate their lives permanently, but for a select group, the impact is breathtaking. The
idea that one huge mistake could lead to mind boggling success is the type of story one only reads
about. World renowned rock band Aerosmith s success story is undeniably one of the greatest of all
time, but it didn t come without massive failure. Steven Tyler, the lead singer of rock and roll hall of
fame band Aerosmith, recorded his first solo song, Love Lives , divulging his jaded emotions of losing
his band, wife, and essentially, soul during the early stages of his now historic career. Although Tyler s
song appears to be just another cliche love song, the ballad capitalizes on parallelism, nostalgia
imagery and diction, and ambiguity to expose the tremendous loss he suffered as a result of his career
crippling drug addiction and the overwhelming success that emerged from the ashes of his past.
Steven Tyler creates rhythm and flow in lyrics by utilizing parallelism between phrases and verses in
his song. The main notion of a musical piece is to be memorable and melodic.
Tyler constructs this melodic pattern by comparing and contrasting concepts in similarly structured
phrases. These slightly contrasting ideas are presented similarly to force movement into the rhythm, I
walk away, you stay behind (Tyler). The same sentence structure is used on the initial and

A Study On An Online Course
Scenario 1: A staff member scans photographs from some out of print books for use by a
professor on his course web site for an online course.
Scenario 2: The semester has started and some students have not received their textbook, so
one student makes electronic copies of the textbook and distributes the copies to others in the course.
He does not collect any money from his classmates.
The above scenarios both take place in an educational environment, which immediately calls fair
use to mind. Fair use allows for a copyrighted work to be used for criticism, comment, news reporting,
teaching, scholarship and research (Copyright.gov, 2011). In both of these cases, claims could be made
that the people using the copyrighted work are doing so for teaching or scholarship purposes, which
would make both of them eligible for fair use. Yet, fair use has four factors that have to be taken into
consideration when determination if the use is indeed fair. These four factors are: commercial or non
commercial use, nature of the work, amount or substantiality of the worked used, and impact of the
use
on the work (Copyright.gov, 2011). These factors are what really make case for the difference between
these two cases.
The first factor of fair use is commercial vs. non commercial use. These two cases may seem
different initially, but they are actually the same in respect to this factor. The student in scenario 2 is

Pros:
* Allow P amp;G to control the cost of services and retain the quality of services from experienced
employees who are familiar with P amp;G s business processes. In fact, this choice may actually
improve the quality of services, as P amp;G will most likely seek out only companies who are at the
top of their respective service industries. These Top of Breed companies will most likely add

Cons:
* All previous concerns from option ii * Multiple partnerships necessitated by this option could prove
extremely costly and complicated to integrate and manage
iv. Retain GBS in house
Pros:
* Maintain continuity with employees possibly boost morale * Least disruptive to employees * Less

Cons:
* Costly investment to make GBS competitive in the long run * Makes Org structure more complex *
P amp;G may eventually outgrow the capabilities of GBS (temporary fix)
Recommendations:
After careful analysis, I ve decided to recommend that P amp;G spin GBS off as a separate business.

Compare Summer Night Dream And A Friday Night s Dream
A Friday Night Light s Dream is a heartwarming love triangle story about classic high school love
lives. It begins with a group of four sophomores: Blake, who likes Jane; Jane, who has fallen for
Ethan; Ethan, who is crushing on Sabrina; and Sabrina, who in love with Blake. Through of series of
telling stereotypical high school events, however, two very happy couples emerge from this situation,
both of which ending with winter formal invites. Besides from being a new aged short story, this tale
can also be seen as a modern adaptation of Shakespeare s classic A Midsummer Night s Dream, with
multiple direct connections between the two stories and both sharing the same theme that love can
make an individual do irrational things. One of the first evident connections between A Midsummer
Night s Dream and A Friday Night Light s Dream, is the impact that parental figures can play in the
who someone can like, date, or marry. In Act I, Scene I in Shakespeare s play Egeus, Hermia s father,
has a long dialogue discussing that he want s daughter to marry Demetrius and not Lysander.
Specifically, Egeus states, Stand forth, Demetrius. My noble lord, This man hath my consent to marry
her. Stand forth, Lysander. And, my gracious duke, This man hath bewitched the bosom of my child. It
is very evident that Demetrius is the only man Egeus will allow to marry his daughter. Additionally, it
is easy to see that he is very unhappy that Lysander has stolen his daughter s heart, and even goes as

Most people who have had a classical education or ever ingested any media in their lifetime have
likely heard the name, Shakespeare. A true mogul of the Elizabethan Theatre era, Shakespeare has
written 37 plays and over 154 sonnets that are still performed on stages today. Similarly, anyone who
has ever picked up a book has read about Sigmund Freud or some of his theories. Freud established
many of the modern practices used in psychiatry and taught in psychology classes worldwide. Freud is
a pioneer of psychology just as Shakespeare is to literature and theatre. They are two of the greatest

Perhaps Hamlet prefers if it was him in his uncle s place. With all the evidence, it is almost as if
Shakespeare was hinting at Hamlet s oedipal maternal desires. His attitude and state of mind
throughout the story can be attributed to how he feels about his mother remarrying. For example,
Hamlet is sulking around in a black cloak as he questions why ``[Gertrude] would hang on [Claudius]/
As if increase of appetite had grown/ By what it fed on (I.ii.347 348). He is very clearly expressing
verbally how upset he is when pondering his mother and her new lover, but he is also expressing it
physically by wearing black even though his father is But two months dead (I.ii.342). Hamlet s
grieving period is over and therefore has no need to wear black anymore. He is wearing black and
sulking now because he is grieving his mother s love. For she has moved on and found a new man to
bed, thus jealousy ensues. This is something that happens frequently when a new alpha male enters a
relationship dynamic, parental or sexual. More evidence of his inappropriate maternal love is shown
by the way he treats Ophelia. It is said by Freud and other psychologists that the relationship you have
with your lover mirrors the relationship you have with your parental figures. It is no coincidence that
the way he batters her with his word and destroys her conscious relates more to the relationship with
his mother than that with Ophelia. The power of beauty will

The Simple Gift Analysis
Through studying texts one can gain a greater understanding of how individuals can transition into
more prosperous and positive phases of life as well into new and differing social contexts. This is
explored in the texts The Simple Gift composed by Steven Herrick, as Billy transitions into a new life
in the town of Bendarat and in Jasper Jones as Charlie develops new outlooks in his life and moves
into social contexts he would have once perceived as taboo. Through the portrayal of transitions in
these texts, the responder gains a wider perception how circumstances can create transitions into new
phases of life and gain a greater understanding of contrasting social contexts.
Transitions can result in entering new social contexts, resulting in a new phase of life in which a
positive outlook on life is attained. Herrick is able to convey this in The Simple Gift as Billy needs to
transition into a more satisfying and fulfilling life through entering a completely new social context.
Assonance and profanity in each deadbeat no hoper s thole lonely downtrodden house emphasises and
drives home his resentment for his current social context and highlights the need for Billy to transition
into a new stage in his life, while the use of first person in I m not proud, I m sixteen and soon to be
homeless foreshadows that from Billy s point of view transition is going to be of a confronting nature.

Magnificence By Estrella Alfon
Pedophilia remains a growing issue in our society. Strangers tend to take advantage of young children
brought by their innocence and vulnerability. Not only are the youth victimized and traumatized, but
the parents of the children are deeply affected as well. Estrella Alfon s Magnificence depicts a mother
s battle against male abuse, which manifests a reversal of gender stereotypes and woman
empowerment.
Estrella Alfon is one of the most prominent writers in the country for she is recognized to write about
the feminist movement. The male population is known to have a dominant status and role in our
society. Therefore, women and children are usually the main characters and victims in her short stories
for this reflects the marginalized roles of women in the patriarchal culture among the Filipino citizens.

Toni Morrison
The issue of abandonment and the will that it takes to survive the hardship of it is a reoccurring theme
in Toni Morrison s writing. Tar Baby, Sula and Paradise all deal with the issue of abandonment and
how it relates to the characters in her stories. Through her fiction, Toni Morrison intends to present
problems, not their answers (Moon). Her stated aim is to show how to survive whole in a world where
we are all of us, in some measure, victims of something. (Morrison) Morrison s broad vision extends

Unlike Howard University, where black culture was neglected or minimized, at Texas Southern they
celebrated black heritage with Negro history week and introduced to her the idea of black culture as a

the black culture in the school that she attended may be looked upon as the abandonment of her roots
and her black culture. This idea of abandoning the black culture is the main theme in her novel, Tar

Tar Baby is also a name, like nigger, that white people call black children, black girls, as I recall . At

Andrew W. A. LaVallee has suggested, is the conflict of the race traitor. It is the conflict of a woman

get back to where they started. They don t see what softball really means to someone like me.
Someone who has dedicated their life just to be able to play on that field at a certain level. Someone
who wants to go to college and play the sport that they love. Well, I play softball because of the love I
have for the sport. Everytime I step on that softball field the feeling overwhelms me. When I step onto
that softball field I receive the drive to make myself better. Not just as a softball player, but also as a
person. All of the emotion, thoughts and feelings I get make me want to work hard towards my goals.

We hit first and the first two batters got struck out. It was then Carley s turn and she hit the ball to left
field and got a single. Then, it was my turn to hit. I stretched my arms one last time before I got into
the box. I threw my hand up behind me to let the umpire and RC know that I was not ready. As I
stepped into the box I could feel my heart pounding out of my chest. I got set and loaded and smiled at
RC. I could taste the amazing hit that was coming. I just knew I was about to stroke it out of the park.
She started her wind up and threw the ball. The first two pitches she threw were balls. I got the sign
from Coach Whiddon, and stepped into the box. RC started her wind up and threw the ball on the
inside corner of the plate and I fouled it off. The same thing happened with the next pitch. The count
was then two balls, and two strikes. My heart started pounding even harder. I bowed my head and
drew a cross in the dirt and said a small prayer before I stepped in the box again. I took a deep breath
and stepped in the box. I sat my bat on my shoulder and smiled at RC once again. I loaded my bat to
let her know I was ready. She started her wind up and threw a changeup on the outside corner of the
plate. I locked my eyes on the ball, and swung my bat. I took my hands to the ball, and snapped my
wrists as the bat hit the ball. As I followed through the ball flew over the first baseman s and the

How Does Chief Anderton Change The Future
Imagine this, a ball is slowly rolling off of a table. You know that if you do not catch it, it will hit the
floor. But, what if it could float, instead? Then, you may try and change its future by catching it but
ultimately, it is going to float. When you know the outcome to a situation, you may try and change it,
but you cannot change the future.
In the movie Minority Report, Chief Anderton is trying to eliminate murder by arresting criminals
before they commit the crime. He does this through three people called the precogs. They can see
murders before they occur. This system seems to work perfectly until Anderton s own name is
discovered as a future murderer. He tries to find out everything he can about the murder and even goes

Why Is Phineas Gage Lucky
Phineas Gage, Lucky or Unlucky?
Survivors of traumatic brain injury are lucky. Two examples of lucky traumatic brain injury survivors
are Phineas Gage and Gary Busey. These two are lucky along with the other millions of traumatic
brain injury survivors. Phineas Gage and Gary Busey were both lucky because they were given a
second chance at life. In addition both narrowly evaded death. Phineas Gage, a traumatic brain injury
survivor, was lucky. The first reason Phineas Gage was lucky is that the tamping iron that went
through his head took a path that did not kill him. Phineas could have died in over twenty different
ways if the tamping iron had taken a different path through his head. I know this because in the book
Phineas Gage it states

Borderline Personality Disorder Paper
Psychiatric research on Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) has increased in popularity over the
past few decades. It was included into the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders
(Third Edition) in 1980. Over the years, professionals have found dramatically effective treatments for
a disorder that was once considered disabling. Even though Borderline Personality Disorder can be
hard to treat, it s usually comorbid with other disorders like depression and anxiety. Throughout this
paper, I will be focusing on background information, symptoms, and treatments of Borderline
Personality Disorder.
Borderline personality disorder was used to diagnose clients who didn t fit into commonly diagnosed
disorders. The term borderline

segregation in public education. The 1954 decision found that the historical evidence bearing on the
issue was inconclusive. Writing for the court, Chief Justice Earl Warren argued that the question of
whether racially segregated public schools were inherently unequal, and thus beyond the scope of the
separate but equal doctrine, could be answered only by considering the effect of segregation itself on
public education. Citing the Supreme Court s rulings in Sweat v. Painter (1950), and McLaurin v.

Arnold Schwarzenenegger s Reminiscences Of The American Dream
American Dream
1. Outline
In text 2, by Arnold Schwarzenegger, we hear about his views on the American immigration system
and how immigrants should integrate themselves into the American society. Nobody should expect a
gift shop when entering America, but instead the generosity of opportunities presented to one.
Therefore, with enough hard work, one can always succeed in life. Immigrants should, however, not
be seen as second tier citizens. Apart from running for president, you are just as much American as the
next guy. Arnold Schwarzenegger has 3 steps to integrate oneself into the American society. First, you
have to gain fluency in English and learn the ways of the American culture, although, not by
abandoning one s own heritage. Secondly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They vary in both neutrality and positivity. As a foreigner, another opinion could, however, be
supplied. To start off, we should go all the way back to the start of the known America; The Wild
West. Back then, the American Dream meant a new chance and possibilities only limited by your
skills. There was no more nobility and discrimination, for the Europeans at least. So back then the
American Dream was a basic principle that nobody should decide what you could or could not be,
only your abilities to do so would have any influence upon that. You were given a plot of land and
could then build a house or mine for gold. Those principles have changed over the years, as some of
the Americans seem to have forgotten their own history. Why should those with the exact same
background as their own forefathers be given any less? Of cause, not all Americans have forgotten.
Some have retained their ancestral stance towards immigration; man is created equal. Nowadays, the
situation in America has changed and as such, there have also been changes in the American Dream.
How could there not? Instead of the relative equality, the wealth of the Americans is being held by an
increasingly small number of people. So is the American Dream dead? No, or at least I don t think so.
I don t even think it has gotten harder, there have just come new sets of difficulties in place of the old.

The Decriminalization Of Victimless Crimes
In society many people are debating whether or not victimless crimes are harmful. Some people
believe there are true victims and particular consequences should follow. Others believe these crimes
are wrong in terms of their morality. The history of victimless crimes, the type of crimes, and society s
view on these crimes can offer evidence as to why these types of crimes are morally wrong and should
be decriminalized. This paper demonstrates that victimless crimes are morally wrong rather than
harmful.
A victimless crime can be described as an act that is illegal, but consensual and lacks a complaining
participant (Veneziano Veneziano, 1993). Those that participate in these types of crimes do so
willingly and without force. Victimless crimes have also been referred to as public order crimes, but
there is debate over whether there are actual victims and whether or not these types of crimes are
harmful (Veneziano, 2014). The common traditional victimless crimes are gambling, prostitution, and
drug use. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Medieval times, people were punished if crimes were committed against family and morals
. At this time in history all power was accorded to the Church. The Church would punish those who
committed acts against family and morals , such as adultery and acts of nonviolent sexual behavior (in
text book). As time went on, the Monarch courts began to take power over the Church. The crimes
against family and morals became crimes against public morals. The debate of whether law should
play a role in the implementation of public morals was started by two English scholars, John Stuart
Mill and Sir James F.

Creative Writing In Avatar
Every writer has a beginning. This is the story of how I started out writing.
It all started when I was 16 when I went to the cinema to view James Cameron s comeback film
Avatar. It was late 2009 when the film had just come out in the middle of December. It was Cameron s
comeback after a 12 year hiatus after the roaring success of Titanic in 1997 which won him numerous
Oscars. Needless to say, I loved it. The film was beautiful. I had never experienced a film where I
would feel for the characters.
Yeah, that is a long time for a filmmaker to be on hiatus. Though, he was able to pull it off. Similar to
when he took a long hiatus between The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
Good things come to those who wait. Unknown
Avatar inspired me to begin writing fan fiction and the writing bug just took hold. The bug continued
all throughout my two senior years of high school (that s years 11 and 12 in Australia). I still write
fanfiction from time to time. However, I haven t published anything in ages.
After high school, I went to film school and couldn t quite find where my niche laid. I wasn t an expert
with cameras and I was awful at anything else. When the second trimester rolled around, relief flooded
me when I discovered that one of the classes was screenwriting. It was writing. Something that I was
familiar with, even if I had never written in that particular format before.
Okay, I might not have chosen the best story to adapt and it was my first time ever

Getting Sick Monologue
Getting sick sucks. I hate not being able to sleep at night or just be able to function like a normal
human being. Getting sick just makes me feel like I have 1000 elephants that is stuck in my head. It s
how I feel right now, I ve caught the common cold. It is during these times that I wish that I was
invincible and I could never catch the cold. I can t function as well as I usually can. I try to talk to
people and while in mid sentence I have to run back to the bathroom because my nose is about the
drip. I m pretty sure no one wants to see the boogers waterfall out of my nose. It s almost like it s a
water faucet that is always on. Gross but it s the best metaphor I got. This awful ordeal started to

She is like my supply line to all the equipment I need to fight this cold. Supplies in the form of
medication and knowledge to help me battle this cold. I once remember her telling me to drink water
when I was like 8 and she gave me this really good metaphor in which I still remember today. She said
to think as if your white blood cells are fighting in trenches as they had in World War One. They
would be holding guns facing out towards the bacteria trench and firing at them and that I was to think
of the water as like and airdrop for the troops as ammunition to fight off the nasty bacteria. To this day
I pound of water and imagine my white blood cells doing such as my mother had told me. My mother
has already helped me during this season. She already gave me my check in text to see if I had already
caught the cold. She knew the drill. The moment I told her that I had the cold again she came and
picked me up and I went home to a nice lovely cuppa tea with honey in it and proceeded to wrap
myself in a blanket. It was awesome it was like old times and that I hadn t really move to college just
yet. My mom came in turn on the TV and offered me toast which I gladly excepted. Next she would

The Presidential Policy Directive Regarding The...
The Presidential Policy Directive regarding the organization of the National Security
Council System replaces all previous National Security Presidential Directives. This change allows
President Obama to shape the National Security Council to his liking, allowing for a more conducive
meeting structure for the designated attendees and chairs. The Presidential Policy Directive 1 seeks to
make the interagency aspect of the NSC more strategic, agile, transparent and predictable. The
Presidential Policy Directive 1 expanded the membership of the National Security

6) What DNI organization serves as the IC s center for long term strategic analysis? What are the most
authoritative reports by which the DNI conveys to senior national security leaders the judgments of
the IC on strategic national security issues called?
The National Intelligence Council is the main body for mid and long term strategic thinking and
analytical reporting. The most authoritative written assessment is the NIC Global Trends report
written every four years and briefed to the incoming president between election day and the
inauguration. This report often prepares the president for what the intelligence community believes to
the upcoming global issues his presidency will have to content with and provides a analytical
speculation of future trends beyond the presidential term. To write an analytical product every four
years is problematic when intelligence is fleeting and importance is constantly shifting. Considering
the fact that the President receives the Presidential Daily Brief (PDB) on a daily basis, a more realistic
approach for the NIC is to produce a report biennially. The NIC can express its strategic analytical
concerns with the mid and long term twice within a

Assessing the Education and Cognitive Needs of Individuals...
Assessing the educational and cognitive needs of individuals with mental retardation is a very
complex process. An appropriately chosen assessment can be a highly effective tool that can be used
to measure the progress of our students. The teacher must select assessment procedures carefully and
make judgments regarding the main areas to assess and then determine which areas of performance
need to be tested further. Effective use of the results will allow teachers to design instruction and
lessons specifically to fit the needs of their students. Where does the teacher start? A starting point is
to gather and then organize information from previous teacher reports, achievement test results, and,
most importantly, psychologist reports on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The test also helps in early the identification of reading and learning disability issues, the
understanding of an individual s learning profile, and identification of gifted children (Wechsler
intelligence scale for children, 2010). There are no detailed instructions for interpretation in WISC
tests. Since children really take opinion of others very serious, students self esteem can be affected
with the result of this test. But considering the students emotional and educational needs, the test is
one of the better tools for student placement into a special program that will meet the student s needs.
It will also prevent students from being improperly labeled and diagnosed (Assessing children with
the Wechsler intelligence scale, 2010). The Wechsler test is divided into a verbal section and a
nonverbal section and there are separate scores for each section. It takes one to two hours to take the
test or complete the test administration. At the end of the test there will be IQ scores of verbal scale IQ
that range from 90 to 110 which indicates the level of a student s intelligence, performance scale IQ,
and full scale IQ. In a situation where the student IQs scores are close enough together, it shows
student s verbal and performance skills are well developed, but if there is a gap between the scores, it
mean there are some learning problems that need interventions (Wechsler intelligence scale for

  • 2. A Brief Biography of Rosa Parks Have you ever heard of Rosa Parks? She stood up for rights of black people. If it wasn t for Rosa we wouldn t be able to go to the same school with some of the friends we have today. She never stopped on what she believed in. She was one of the people who started the bus boycott in Alabama. In this biography you will learn about Rosa s childhood, adulthood, and greatest accomplishments. Lets learn about Rosa and what lead her to standing up for herself and others in a big way. Rosa Parks was born February 4, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. Rosa had a younger brother, Sylvester. Rosa s family moved town to town when she was a baby. Rosa s family moved in with her mother s mom and dad, when she was little. Rosa s father didn t want to stay in Pine Level, Alabama with her grandparents, so he left for good when Rosa was just 2 years old! Rosa was taught to read by her mother at a young age. Once Rosa was old enough to go to school, she went to a one room school in Pine Level. The school didn t have many school supplies. Rosa lived 8 miles from school, she could not take the bus, so she walked, 8 miles to, 8 miles back. Once or twice , Rosa stood up to white boys who were teasing her or her brother. Rosa was very brave as a child. As you can see, Rosa had tough times when she was a child. Now, lets go to the future and see what Rosa s adulthood is like! • 3. Comparing Suspense In The Sniper And Once Upon A Time Suspense Essay Aaron Little Holder The Sniper and Once Upon a time give off different elements of suspense. When you read these two stories they give off different vibes. In both stories you will see that there are both differences and similarities. In the story The Sniper the element of suspense starts with the setting. The story takes place during the civil war in Ireland. The sniper is isolated and the time of day is twilight. We don t have a lot of information about what is going on during the story. The story is being told by a third person so the reader can only see what the person who is telling the story sees and feel. The mood that is set in the story also adds to the suspense of the story. The images and sounds and the details shared throughout the story lets the reader know that something bad is going to happen. Finally, the plot of the story creates suspense. We are not aware of the background of the characters in the story. The narrator does not share information about the different snipers and what may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story begins with the author telling the story from her point of view. She is home alone and the time of day is night time. The suspense starts when she says that she was aroused by a strange sound. This creates suspense. The author then starts telling herself a bedtime story. She begins telling the story like a fairy tale. In all fairy tales there is a moral. This creates suspense. The story is now being told from a third person s point of view. As the story is being told, the reader can begin to see that the families fears, suspicions and mistrust are getting out of hand. You can see that the family is doing too much and that they are about to put themselves in a situation that is not good. The story starts off with a perfect family in the perfect home, just like a fairy tale starts, however it ends in tragedy. The son dies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Examples Of Romantic Narrative In Mass Media Romantic Narratives in Mass Media: The Construction of Ideals As Television sales increased in the 1940s, more homes in the United States included TVs as a common accessory in the family room. Since then, televisions have become another tool for socialization individuals use to try and make sense of the world around them (Riesman, Denny, Glaser, 1950). Furthermore, the combination of romance and mass media produced narratives continues to be a prominent form of entertainment where TV writers and producers construct a picture of what love should look like. The way romantic relationships develop and the expectations individuals have for courtships vary by culture; therefore, this proposed study will focus solely on images of idealized romance through a Western lens. In general, romantic relationships in Western societies are guided by personal choice, passion, and the notion of love at first sight. As you watch television or popular movies in the United States, you can see examples of this type of love embedded into our media. For instance, the CBS show How I Met Your Mother based each episode on the main character, Ted Mosby s quest for love. As the show moves through its eight seasons, the viewer sees Ted go from one unhappy relationship to another until he meets his ideal partner and eventually finds true love. Many shows like this center around the main character s journey for his or her soul mate. The media has created certain expectations of an idealized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Stereotypes In American Beauty The film I will be analyzing is American Beauty written by Alan Ball. I will be discussing the representation of men and the male body. This late 90 s narrative structure film American Beauty narrates the changes in gender roles and how they have impacted society in contrast to the traditional male bread winners and female homemakers of past times. The characters in this film are defined through their sexuality in the roles they play. This film also relates to the theme of identity and explores the expectations society has placed on stereotypes in how we function and how we identify ourselves. From the beginning of this film one can immediately see who wears the pants in the family. Lester Burnham, a magazine writer who despises his job is frustrated with his marriage and has little sexual contact with his wife Carolyn. Although, Lester is a male he portrays a traditional submissive female role in this film. Carolyn, an ambitious real estate broker, who is also discontented with her their marriage is having an affair with another realtor. She takes on a more male dominating role in the family. In this active role, Carolyn becomes the strong central female character, assuming untraditional masculine roles where men have been considered more active in earlier decades. They both live with their teenage daughter Jane, who spends most of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lester s lust for Angela causes him to become obsessed with working out to attract her attention, but Jane is actually interested in Ricky, the Burnham s new neighbor who lives with his strict retired military father, Colonel ... • 6. Is Attrition A Negative Impact On Late Stage Doctoral... Literature Review Willis and Carmichael (2011) presented foundlings stating that attrition is defined by the experiences gathered in the doctoral study rather than the stage at which erosion occurs. The study share relevant similarities to previous research, indicating perverse experiences could lead to pessimistic outcomes regardless of the field or stage of the doctorate program (Willis and Carmichael, 2011). The theoretical foundations of this case study support the synthesis arguments of Hoskins and Goldberg (2005) that stated dissertation committee chair post a problematic negative impact on late stage doctoral attrition. Other scholars argue the results of the current research. Incomplete doctoral learners all assert how a problematic relationship with their dissertation chair played a significant role in their decision to leave the program (Willis and Carmichael, 2011). However, Willis and Carmichael (2011) identified the gap and addressed problems in the attrition decision. Dropped out learners were not allowed to achieve their goals, and that resulted in negative emotions (Willis and Carmichael (2011). According to Willis and Carmichael (2011), comparatively, students that willing quit the dissertation process no longer desire the degree, and thus experienced positive emotions related to attrition, but more research is needed. • 7. Plot Structure Of A Quest Analysis The author supported the idea of stories being quests through this sentence. Not only did the author describe what is needed for a story to be considered a quest, the author also described the fundamental structure of a plot. The author uses the quest analogy in order to make the reader aware of how stories have the same basic structure. This being the first chapter reinforces the idea of the author introducing the structure of a plot. It would only be logical to start a book on how to properly read and analyze books with the basics. How the author disguises the plot structure as a structure of a quest is helpful because it makes it a much more easy way to connect ideas. While most people are aware of a plot structure, it would be easier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Animal Transport System Effective transport systems in multicellular plants and animals, although with apparent differences, have similarities as they all possess a system of vessels in which substances are transported, a driving mechanism to ensure that substances move in the correct direction and importantly, a suitable transport medium. What is transport medium and which chemicals are carried around your body? (Make sure you are talking about main ones and their form) Blood is the fluid transport that flows through the heart and blood vessel of the cardiovascular system in vertebrates. Blood distributes heat around the body, as well as the nutrients and gases required by the body and the wastes to be excreted from the body. It also carries other chemicals such as hormones, glucose, and oxygen for aerobic respiration, antibodies to fight infections, clotting factors and many other substances required by the body to function efficiently. Paragraph ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These two systems both possess the heart as the core mechanism, a fluid that transports substances and a system of vessels. The function of the transport system in animals is to deliver nutrients and gases to the cell and to collect and remove wastes. With the movement of the blood around the body, the composition of blood cells and plasma remain relatively the same but the concentration of dissolved substances and gases change depending on the organ it s passing through. There are a number of notable differences, but the most important is that a closed circulatory system has the transport fluid surrounded within the system of vessels at all times. However, in an open circulatory system, the transport fluid leaves the vessels, enters cavities in the body and come in direct contact with the organs. Overall, open circulatory systems are not as efficient as closed stems because the fluid pressure is low, causing the transport fluid to circulate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. My Greatest Experience The greatest experience of my life Can you recall the greatest experience of your life? Football has been a love of mine since I was a undersized kid. I really grew attached to a team called the Washington Redskins. A lot of my sundays were spent in front of the television gazing as the Redskins put in work. On September 24th my dad came home with pale papers in his rugged hand. He placed the papers in my grip which were tickets to go see the Redskins play the Chiefs in Kansas City on October 2nd. First off, the excitement I felt rush throughout my body was nothing i ve ever felt in the time that i ve spent on this Earth. It was hard to believe that I was actually going to see the team I watched growing up. One of the best parts about it was going to the loudest stadium in the United States. I knew going into the game that the Kansas City Chiefs were no joke, because they were undefeated on the season at that point. Secondly, I woke up on the second of October smelling victory, which also smelt like pancakes. I tasted a golden sticky syrup on my puffy pancakes. I had glorious pieces of bacon that tasted like god made them himself. I made sure to get enough food to last me the lengthy excruciating car ride. Next, it was time for a quick shower so I didn t smell funky. It was probably one of the quickest showers I have ever taken due to being ready to get on the road for the game. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is in William Shakespeare that the created individual (Hamlet), created out of that very space of meaninglessness, enters for the first time into a genuine conflictual relationship; the genuine in the sense that the opponents are equal of power. Prince Hamlet materializes as an individual who has a miserable and weak identity, this kind of complex identity has a sense of hopeless and out of health condition affected by the psychological problem. For example, when Hamlet pretends to be a weird person while he is reading the book and talking with Polonius sarcastically, he actually has that sense of weirdness outside and inside himself, but at the same time he is in full mental power that contradicts himself. So, even when he pretends that he is mad and foolish, they affect his psychology thus it seems to be true. The character of Hamlet would appear to be no character at all because a name cannot be found for it, or which is the same thing because too many can be found. That means that Hamlet identity has been wiped out as he is so singular, unspeakable person because he cannot find and present himself in one place whereas he has the power to do react and revenge directly but the hesitation prohibited him to any such action. A powerful vagueness invests the play s treatment of inheritance. This statement means that Hamlet is recognized as unlucky son who years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Rock Band Aerosmith s Success Story Essay Etched deep in the spirit of every person are the memories of life altering mistakes. For most people, these mistakes devastate their lives permanently, but for a select group, the impact is breathtaking. The idea that one huge mistake could lead to mind boggling success is the type of story one only reads about. World renowned rock band Aerosmith s success story is undeniably one of the greatest of all time, but it didn t come without massive failure. Steven Tyler, the lead singer of rock and roll hall of fame band Aerosmith, recorded his first solo song, Love Lives , divulging his jaded emotions of losing his band, wife, and essentially, soul during the early stages of his now historic career. Although Tyler s song appears to be just another cliche love song, the ballad capitalizes on parallelism, nostalgia imagery and diction, and ambiguity to expose the tremendous loss he suffered as a result of his career crippling drug addiction and the overwhelming success that emerged from the ashes of his past. Steven Tyler creates rhythm and flow in lyrics by utilizing parallelism between phrases and verses in his song. The main notion of a musical piece is to be memorable and melodic. Tyler constructs this melodic pattern by comparing and contrasting concepts in similarly structured phrases. These slightly contrasting ideas are presented similarly to force movement into the rhythm, I walk away, you stay behind (Tyler). The same sentence structure is used on the initial and ... Scenario 2: The semester has started and some students have not received their textbook, so one student makes electronic copies of the textbook and distributes the copies to others in the course. He does not collect any money from his classmates. The above scenarios both take place in an educational environment, which immediately calls fair use to mind. Fair use allows for a copyrighted work to be used for criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship and research (Copyright.gov, 2011). In both of these cases, claims could be made that the people using the copyrighted work are doing so for teaching or scholarship purposes, which would make both of them eligible for fair use. Yet, fair use has four factors that have to be taken into consideration when determination if the use is indeed fair. These four factors are: commercial or non commercial use, nature of the work, amount or substantiality of the worked used, and impact of the use on the work (Copyright.gov, 2011). These factors are what really make case for the difference between these two cases. The first factor of fair use is commercial vs. non commercial use. These two cases may seem different initially, but they are actually the same in respect to this factor. The student in scenario 2 is copying the textbook and giving it away free to their ... • 16. Compare Summer Night Dream And A Friday Night s Dream A Friday Night Light s Dream is a heartwarming love triangle story about classic high school love lives. It begins with a group of four sophomores: Blake, who likes Jane; Jane, who has fallen for Ethan; Ethan, who is crushing on Sabrina; and Sabrina, who in love with Blake. Through of series of telling stereotypical high school events, however, two very happy couples emerge from this situation, both of which ending with winter formal invites. Besides from being a new aged short story, this tale can also be seen as a modern adaptation of Shakespeare s classic A Midsummer Night s Dream, with multiple direct connections between the two stories and both sharing the same theme that love can make an individual do irrational things. One of the first evident connections between A Midsummer Night s Dream and A Friday Night Light s Dream, is the impact that parental figures can play in the who someone can like, date, or marry. In Act I, Scene I in Shakespeare s play Egeus, Hermia s father, has a long dialogue discussing that he want s daughter to marry Demetrius and not Lysander. Specifically, Egeus states, Stand forth, Demetrius. My noble lord, This man hath my consent to marry her. Stand forth, Lysander. And, my gracious duke, This man hath bewitched the bosom of my child. A true mogul of the Elizabethan Theatre era, Shakespeare has written 37 plays and over 154 sonnets that are still performed on stages today. Similarly, anyone who has ever picked up a book has read about Sigmund Freud or some of his theories. Freud established many of the modern practices used in psychiatry and taught in psychology classes worldwide. Freud is a pioneer of psychology just as Shakespeare is to literature and theatre. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps Hamlet prefers if it was him in his uncle s place. With all the evidence, it is almost as if Shakespeare was hinting at Hamlet s oedipal maternal desires. His attitude and state of mind throughout the story can be attributed to how he feels about his mother remarrying. For example, Hamlet is sulking around in a black cloak as he questions why ``[Gertrude] would hang on [Claudius]/ As if increase of appetite had grown/ By what it fed on (I.ii.347 348). He is very clearly expressing verbally how upset he is when pondering his mother and her new lover, but he is also expressing it physically by wearing black even though his father is But two months dead (I.ii.342). Hamlet s grieving period is over and therefore has no need to wear black anymore. He is wearing black and sulking now because he is grieving his mother s love. For she has moved on and found a new man to bed, thus jealousy ensues. This is something that happens frequently when a new alpha male enters a relationship dynamic, parental or sexual. More evidence of his inappropriate maternal love is shown by the way he treats Ophelia. It is said by Freud and other psychologists that the relationship you have with your lover mirrors the relationship you have with your parental figures. It is no coincidence that the way he batters her with his word and destroys her conscious relates more to the relationship with his mother than that with Ophelia. The power of beauty will ... This is explored in the texts The Simple Gift composed by Steven Herrick, as Billy transitions into a new life in the town of Bendarat and in Jasper Jones as Charlie develops new outlooks in his life and moves into social contexts he would have once perceived as taboo. Through the portrayal of transitions in these texts, the responder gains a wider perception how circumstances can create transitions into new phases of life and gain a greater understanding of contrasting social contexts. Transitions can result in entering new social contexts, resulting in a new phase of life in which a positive outlook on life is attained. Herrick is able to convey this in The Simple Gift as Billy needs to transition into a more satisfying and fulfilling life through entering a completely new social context. Assonance and profanity in each deadbeat no hoper s thole lonely downtrodden house emphasises and drives home his resentment for his current social context and highlights the need for Billy to transition into a new stage in his life, while the use of first person in I m not proud, I m sixteen and soon to be homeless foreshadows that from Billy s point of view transition is going to be of a confronting nature. A stark contrast is seen between this description and that of Billy s use of positive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Magnificence By Estrella Alfon Pedophilia remains a growing issue in our society. Strangers tend to take advantage of young children brought by their innocence and vulnerability. Not only are the youth victimized and traumatized, but the parents of the children are deeply affected as well. Estrella Alfon s Magnificence depicts a mother s battle against male abuse, which manifests a reversal of gender stereotypes and woman empowerment. Estrella Alfon is one of the most prominent writers in the country for she is recognized to write about the feminist movement. The male population is known to have a dominant status and role in our society. Therefore, women and children are usually the main characters and victims in her short stories for this reflects the marginalized roles of women in the patriarchal culture among the Filipino citizens. The pencils play a significant role in the story as this was used to gain the enthusiasm and trust of the children. Tar Baby, Sula and Paradise all deal with the issue of abandonment and how it relates to the characters in her stories. Through her fiction, Toni Morrison intends to present problems, not their answers (Moon). Her stated aim is to show how to survive whole in a world where we are all of us, in some measure, victims of something. Unlike Howard University, where black culture was neglected or minimized, at Texas Southern they celebrated black heritage with Negro history week and introduced to her the idea of black culture as a discipline rather than just personal family reminiscences. Morrison s discovery of the minimization of the black culture in the school that she attended may be looked upon as the abandonment of her roots and her black culture. This idea of abandoning the black culture is the main theme in her novel, Tar Baby. Tar Baby is also a name, like nigger, that white people call black children, black girls, as I recall . At one time, a tar pit was a holy place, at least an important place, because tar was used to build things . It held together things like Moses little boat and the pyramids. ( An Interview 255) Toni Morrison s Tar Baby (1982), is a novel about contentions and conflicts based on learned biases and prejudices. These biases exist on a race level, gender level, and a class level. The central conflict, however, is the conflict within the main character, Jadine. This conflict, as Andrew W. A. LaVallee has suggested, is the conflict of the race traitor. It is the conflict of a woman who has discarded her heritage and culture and adopted another trying to reconcile herself to the night ... So back then the American Dream was a basic principle that nobody should decide what you could or could not be, only your abilities to do so would have any influence upon that. You were given a plot of land and could then build a house or mine for gold. Those principles have changed over the years, as some of the Americans seem to have forgotten their own history. • 29. The Decriminalization Of Victimless Crimes In society many people are debating whether or not victimless crimes are harmful. Some people believe there are true victims and particular consequences should follow. Others believe these crimes are wrong in terms of their morality. The history of victimless crimes, the type of crimes, and society s view on these crimes can offer evidence as to why these types of crimes are morally wrong and should be decriminalized. This paper demonstrates that victimless crimes are morally wrong rather than harmful. A victimless crime can be described as an act that is illegal, but consensual and lacks a complaining participant (Veneziano Veneziano, 1993). Those that participate in these types of crimes do so willingly and without force. Victimless crimes have also been referred to as public order crimes, but there is debate over whether there are actual victims and whether or not these types of crimes are harmful (Veneziano, 2014). The common traditional victimless crimes are gambling, prostitution, and drug use. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 30. Creative Writing In Avatar Every writer has a beginning. This is the story of how I started out writing. It all started when I was 16 when I went to the cinema to view James Cameron s comeback film Avatar. It was late 2009 when the film had just come out in the middle of December. It was Cameron s comeback after a 12 year hiatus after the roaring success of Titanic in 1997 which won him numerous Oscars. Needless to say, I loved it. The film was beautiful. I had never experienced a film where I would feel for the characters. Yeah, that is a long time for a filmmaker to be on hiatus. Though, he was able to pull it off. Similar to when he took a long hiatus between The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Good things come to those who wait. Unknown Avatar inspired me to begin writing fan fiction and the writing bug just took hold. The bug continued all throughout my two senior years of high school (that s years 11 and 12 in Australia). I still write fanfiction from time to time. However, I haven t published anything in ages. After high school, I went to film school and couldn t quite find where my niche laid. I wasn t an expert with cameras and I was awful at anything else. When the second trimester rolled around, relief flooded me when I discovered that one of the classes was screenwriting.
