An educational media center (EMC) is a facility within a school that houses and provides access to various educational resources. An EMC serves multiple roles, including being a center for resources, a laboratory for learning, an agent for teaching, a service agency, a coordinating agency, and a recreational reading center. An EMC offers various services to improve the teaching and learning process by making it more interactive, collaborative, interesting and authentic. These services include orientation, multimedia services, selection and organization of print and non-print materials, circulation of materials, photocopying, video and sound production, reference services, bibliographic services, and more.

2. An EMC is a facility designed for
housing and utilization of all
educational media within the school. It
is a basic requirement for a school
render quality service . It is not
independent in school. Rather, like
any part of human body, it is a unit in
the school that cooperates the other
unit or departments that help the
school fulfill its mission and realize its
vision by living up to the schools
philosophy and aims.

3. It serves a myriad of roles,
among which are: 1.) center of
resources, 2.) laboratory for
learning, 3.) agent of teaching, 4.)
service agency, 5.) coordinating
agency, 6.) recreational reading
center, and 7.) a stepping stone to
other resources of the
community.
