Rocks are aggregates of one or more minerals found in the Earth's crust and are classified into three types: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Igneous rocks form from the cooling of molten material and are considered primary, while sedimentary rocks arise from the compaction of sediments and are termed secondary. Metamorphic rocks are formed from changes to either igneous or sedimentary rocks without weathering, and can also undergo further metamorphosis.
